Latest / Sidekick's What Just Shipped / HubSpot Breeze Assistant in Slack: from beta helper to CRM doer | Shipped Apr 2026
Transcript
- Dana (AI host): Picture a Slack message: Sarah is leaving, can you move her accounts to Mike? Dana (AI host): Our research says that one request used to mean fifteen minutes of tab switching. Rob (AI host): Now you can ask Breeze Assistant right in Slack, and it shows you a confirmation card before anything changes. Dana (AI host): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped. Let's go. Narrator (AI voice): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped, presented by Sidekick Strategies. Narrator (AI voice): Your hosts, Rob and Dana, are AI. Narrator (AI voice): The voices are synthetic, the research is real, and humans check every claim before it reaches you. Rob (AI host): Welcome in. I'm Rob, and yes, Dana and I are AI hosts. Dana (AI host): Two AI hosts talking about an AI assistant. Very on brand. Rob (AI host): We contain multitudes. Dana (AI host): Okay, start at the beginning. How did this get here? Rob (AI host): Back in April 2026, our research covered Breeze Assistant landing in Slack as a public beta. Rob (AI host): You enrolled in the beta, upgraded or reinstalled the HubSpot app for Slack, and called it with at HubSpot Breeze. Dana (AI host): And what could it do back then? Rob (AI host): Summarize a deal, summarize the Slack thread you're in, create a follow-up task, and prep you for a meeting. Rob (AI host): And it only fired when you invoked it. Dana (AI host): Good. Nobody wants a bot barging into the channel. Rob (AI host): Then on October 1, our research covered Breeze getting a permanent home: the Messages tab of the HubSpot app in Slack. Dana (AI host): Wait, a tab? Like a DM? Rob (AI host): Basically. Rob (AI host): It opens with suggested prompts, and the conversation is continuous, so you don't mention Breeze every time. Rob (AI host): In channels and threads, you still at-mention it for each request. Dana (AI host): Why move it at all? Rob (AI host): Our research says the old integration ran on an older Slack framework. Rob (AI host): Moving to Slack's current agent platform is what lets HubSpot ship more interactive Breeze features there. Dana (AI host): Okay. And then October got busy. Rob (AI host): Very busy. On October 20, our research covered two more drops. First, rich responses. Rob (AI host): Before October 19, Breeze in Slack returned plain text. Dana (AI host): The wall of words era. Rob (AI host): Right. Rob (AI host): Now it can show formatted tables, record and meeting cards, reports with a one-click link to open the full version in HubSpot, and inline previews of things like presentations and CSVs. Dana (AI host): Okay, that's a real upgrade. And the second drop? Rob (AI host): Actions. Rob (AI host): Our research says Breeze can update contacts, companies, and deals, bulk-reassign accounts or contacts from one rep to another, enroll a record into an active workflow, schedule and log meetings, log calls and notes, and help troubleshoot why a lead didn't get assigned. Dana (AI host): Hold on. Bulk reassign? From a chat message? That makes me nervous. Rob (AI host): Same. And that's the guardrail. Rob (AI host): Before any bulk action writes to your CRM, Breeze shows a confirmation card listing every affected record. Rob (AI host): You review it, then approve. Dana (AI host): Okay. That I can live with. Dana (AI host): So where does it stand today? Still beta? Rob (AI host): Here's what we can say. Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page, updated October 19, lists it for all products and plans, and it doesn't call it a beta. Dana (AI host): But? Rob (AI host): But we couldn't find a dated announcement that it's generally available. Rob (AI host): So we're not declaring a launch date we can't source. Rob (AI host): If you don't see it, check whether your account still needs the beta enrollment. Dana (AI host): Respect. Quick break, then setup and the catch. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Hey, it's George B. Thomas from Sidekick Strategies. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Full honesty, this is my AI voice clone, made with my permission. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Breeze in Slack can now update records and enroll workflows from a single message. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): But it can only work with the data you've got. Sparse records produce sparse answers. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): At Sidekick, we fix what's broken and build what's missing, starting with your data foundation, so your team gets clean answers when they ask. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Book a free strategy call at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Dana (AI host): And we're back. Setup. What do I actually need? Rob (AI host): Per HubSpot's help page: the Slack app connected to your HubSpot account, you logged in to Slack with your HubSpot user, and Breeze Assistant turned on in your HubSpot account. Dana (AI host): And the Messages tab? Rob (AI host): That needs a Slack workspace admin to reconnect the Slack app to HubSpot, which grants new permissions. Rob (AI host): Our research says until that happens, everything works the old way, so nothing breaks. Dana (AI host): So if you're not the Slack admin, go find them. Rob (AI host): Exactly. One wrinkle, though. Rob (AI host): Our October 20 research on actions says it rolls out automatically with no configuration required. Rob (AI host): The help page and our October 1 research say the Messages tab needs that admin reconnect. Rob (AI host): Our read: the reconnect is for the Messages tab. Check your own setup. Dana (AI host): Noted. What if you're connected to more than one HubSpot account? Rob (AI host): Type slash hs dash breeze dash select dash portal in Slack, then pick the account Breeze should use. Dana (AI host): And is it quietly reading all our channels in the background? Rob (AI host): No. HubSpot's help page says it does not monitor channels or threads automatically. Rob (AI host): It can use the surrounding thread for context, but only when you at-mention it. Dana (AI host): Good. That was going to be my whole question for the security team. Dana (AI host): Okay. Who's this for? Rob (AI host): Our research points to RevOps and sales ops folks handling territory changes and rep transitions, reps who hate logging activities after the fact, sales managers coordinating handoffs, and admins fielding routing questions in Slack. Dana (AI host): And who can skip it? Rob (AI host): Our research says it comes down to whether your team actually lives in Slack. Rob (AI host): If they don't, the impact is minimal. Dana (AI host): Fair. Okay, the catch. Rob (AI host): Data quality. Breeze answers depend on how complete and current your CRM data is. Rob (AI host): Sparse records produce sparse summaries. Dana (AI host): So it's a mirror. Kind of a rude one. Rob (AI host): An honest one. Rob (AI host): And back in April, when it was a public beta, our research said to test it in a low-stakes channel first. Rob (AI host): Still feels smart before anyone bulk-reassigns anything. Dana (AI host): Monday. Three things. Rob (AI host): One. Rob (AI host): Ask your Slack admin to reconnect the HubSpot app so your team gets the Messages tab. Dana (AI host): Two? Rob (AI host): Two. In a test channel, ask a table question. Rob (AI host): Our research suggests: which of my deals have no next step scheduled? Dana (AI host): And three? Rob (AI host): Three. Rob (AI host): Before anyone tries a bulk change, agree as a team that a human actually reads that confirmation card before approving. Dana (AI host): Read the card. Love it. Dana (AI host): That's our show. Dana (AI host): Breeze Assistant in Slack went from a beta helper to an assistant that can do real CRM work, with a confirmation card in the way.
