- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 0:23Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 0:28Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 0:31Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 0:35Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 0:39Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 0:43Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home

- 1:00Speaker 3: Let's take a Dylan Brooks right shout to him. But
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm just saying things like that. That's where it starts.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Getting us dealing. Brooks is a legend. No, he's not
- 1:13Speaker 4: from my point, and Dylan Brooks could be from some
- 1:18Speaker 4: Canada or something.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Right, he's from Ontario.
- 1:21Speaker 4: He could be somebody that's the first from his neighborhood,
- 1:24Speaker 4: bro who did what he's doing in America.
- 1:27Speaker 6: But not even to them, he's a legend. He might
- 1:30Speaker 6: when he goes on the campus of Oregon, he probably
- 1:33Speaker 6: he's a legend.
- 1:34Speaker 4: That's the fact.
- 1:35Speaker 5: How many guys from organ make it to the league
- 1:38Speaker 5: and have a career, not man.
- 1:46Speaker 7: My graduates from my school being false back drop bag drop,
- 1:52Speaker 7: Mike drop back drop.
- 2:05Speaker 3: All right, guys, welcome back e y l. Yeah, we
- 2:08Speaker 3: are in our second home, l A. We're out here
- 2:11Speaker 3: all the time, so.
- 2:12Speaker 8: It's officially maybe it's officially placed. Atlanta is our second home.
- 2:16Speaker 8: Oh yeah, Atlanta's the second.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Man. I got to make Cali. I love Atlanta. Yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 4: blame you. Atlanta is the ship.
- 2:25Speaker 9: Yeah. I got love for both places. Man.
- 2:28Speaker 3: But we was coming out here for the weekend and
- 2:30Speaker 3: we wanted to, you know, make it as impactful as possible.
- 2:33Speaker 3: So we're like, who can we interview? And I shot
- 2:35Speaker 3: to AV He's like, Yo, what about some we live
- 2:37Speaker 3: out there. I'm like, yeah, let's do that. Let's reach
- 2:39Speaker 3: out and the bro set it up right, shouting.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Yeah my boys schmurder too, man.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah, so they they set it up and we're here.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So I'm a fan. I told you that before when
- 2:54Speaker 3: we connected with nineteen Keys at the BT.
- 2:56Speaker 9: What was that last year?
- 2:57Speaker 5: Last year, last last June, last year radio room.
- 3:00Speaker 4: That's June. So that's about a year. Yeah, year around sure,
- 3:05Speaker 4: year works.
- 3:05Speaker 3: So you know it's it's been dope to see your rise.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Been following you on the ground, you know, watching the freestyles,
- 3:13Speaker 3: watching everything that you've been doing.
- 3:15Speaker 9: So first and foremost, congratulations.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Thank you man, thank you. Congratulations to y'all. Two man,
- 3:20Speaker 4: I was just actually watching the Blast episode.
- 3:24Speaker 9: Yeah, how'd you feel about it?
- 3:25Speaker 4: Like, God, I love it, Bro, I love I love
- 3:27Speaker 4: Vic too. Vict is like he's he's like the embodiment
- 3:32Speaker 4: of like what you have to do, like as the
- 3:37Speaker 4: homey or like as the friend. That's a part of
- 3:39Speaker 4: business that like take matters into your own hands to
- 3:43Speaker 4: kind of like simplify a lot of things for artists.
- 3:45Speaker 4: So shout out to Vic, man, I love him for that.
- 3:48Speaker 9: Yeah, that dope one family did we did that here?
- 3:51Speaker 9: Actually know what I'm.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Saying, the fact, But yeah, man, so let's let's jump
- 3:57Speaker 3: right into it. I gotta it's gonna be a fun conversation,
- 3:59Speaker 3: lot to talk about. But first, all right, so everybody
- 4:03Speaker 3: knows you out there. You're making a bus.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 9: Are you signed to a label?
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yes?
- 4:07Speaker 9: What label you signed to?
- 4:08Speaker 4: I'm signed to the best label in the world, Atlantic Records,
- 4:15Speaker 4: completely unbiased opinion. Yes, yes, all right?
- 4:18Speaker 9: So when did that?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Because she was independent for a long time, yes, So
- 4:23Speaker 3: talk me through that.
- 4:24Speaker 9: How did that happen? The thought process?
- 4:26Speaker 3: I'm sure you kind of like debated it in your
- 4:28Speaker 3: mind whether that was a good idea or not.
- 4:30Speaker 9: Maybe you didn't like, you know, going to a label did?
- 4:33Speaker 9: How did that come about?
- 4:35Speaker 4: Well? For me, Bro, I was always somebody that was
- 4:38Speaker 4: just like I just always kind of thought past where
- 4:41Speaker 4: I was at the moment. And for me, growing up
- 4:46Speaker 4: in the Bay Area, we got, like I said all
- 4:47Speaker 4: the time, we got a lack of infrastructure when it
- 4:50Speaker 4: comes to the hip hop music scene. So it was
- 4:55Speaker 4: hard for me to kind of develop the team that
- 4:58Speaker 4: I needed to kind of help me do find what
- 5:00Speaker 4: it was that I represent as an artist. So I
- 5:04Speaker 4: had to go elsewhere, and through going elsewhere, I ended
- 5:07Speaker 4: up leaving the Bay Area and coming down here to
- 5:09Speaker 4: Los Angeles. And when I came down to Los Angeles,
- 5:12Speaker 4: I started getting their rooms and learning different things, and
- 5:15Speaker 4: through that I kind of started developing like more appreciation
- 5:20Speaker 4: for the major side of things, because it was like
- 5:24Speaker 4: you get to kind of take advantage of like all
- 5:26Speaker 4: these different opportunities and relationships versus like you going through
- 5:31Speaker 4: this uphill battle. Especially for me, it was tough because,
- 5:34Speaker 4: like I said, I couldn't really develop a team, so
- 5:36Speaker 4: I had to hire one. So I partnered with Atlantic
- 5:41Speaker 4: back in like twenty twenty, like right before the pandemic.
- 5:45Speaker 4: My first single on Atlantic came out two days before
- 5:49Speaker 4: the pandemic. So for me, partnering with the majors, it
- 5:53Speaker 4: was always about being able to get my music scene
- 5:59Speaker 4: like from a order perspective, because I didn't really relate
- 6:03Speaker 4: to where I'm from. I don't really sound like the
- 6:06Speaker 4: typical Bay Area artists or have the typical sound, so
- 6:09Speaker 4: I always needed like more platforming in different relationships to
- 6:13Speaker 4: help me elevate what it was I was trying to do.
- 6:16Speaker 4: And you know, partner with the major label was easier
- 6:19Speaker 4: for me to do that than to take the independent up.
- 6:21Speaker 8: So at first, before you got to Atlanta, you were independent,
- 6:25Speaker 8: but you were Columbia. Yeah right, so talk about that
- 6:28Speaker 8: because you went from major to independent back to major. Yeah,
- 6:32Speaker 8: you know, there was still some money that was made.
- 6:34Speaker 8: There was a lot of money that should oh I
- 6:36Speaker 8: should what was that?
- 6:37Speaker 4: Like I always say, bro Columbia was like, so my
- 6:42Speaker 4: sister Chelsea, Chelsea Blfe, she just became the VP of
- 6:46Speaker 4: UMG Nashville. Shout out to Chelsea. But she's like the
- 6:50Speaker 4: person that really got me into the industry. Like when
- 6:54Speaker 4: I was driving down from the Bay Area, I was
- 6:56Speaker 4: working with Nick Nack. Y'all remember Nick Nack, I know
- 6:59Speaker 4: the name. Nick was a producer. He produced like these
- 7:02Speaker 4: hose ain't loyal from Chris Brown, but he from the
- 7:05Speaker 4: Bay A legend. Yeah, but he was like the first
- 7:08Speaker 4: person him and like starting six young Mirth. They were
- 7:12Speaker 4: like the first people I've seen move from the Bay
- 7:15Speaker 4: and come to Los Angeles and really start making the
- 7:18Speaker 4: name in the music industry. So I started getting in
- 7:21Speaker 4: touch with them, and I start doing the same thing
- 7:23Speaker 4: driving down from the Bay, linking up with them down here,
- 7:27Speaker 4: and through being down here, I was watching Nick and
- 7:29Speaker 4: Mirth like go to different major sessions and writing for
- 7:33Speaker 4: different people, and I was just learning things and I
- 7:36Speaker 4: was like, damn, I think I need to move down here.
- 7:40Speaker 4: So Chelsea was actually an intern at Innerscope at the time,
- 7:45Speaker 4: so she was just kind of like getting into the game.
- 7:47Speaker 4: She was working under Manny Smith. Shut out the Manny
- 7:51Speaker 4: and Chelsea brought me in for a meeting and my
- 7:54Speaker 4: music was terrible, but my raps was good. My music
- 7:59Speaker 4: was terrible, but my raps was good. And Manny he's
- 8:02Speaker 4: seen the potential in me. He was just like, keep
- 8:04Speaker 4: doing your thing. And that was like two weeks after that.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I met Kendrick Lamar. This is right before a Good
- 8:12Speaker 4: kid Man City. So Kendricks seen a freestyle I did.
- 8:16Speaker 4: He was like, bro, you dope, Like keep doing your thing.
- 8:19Speaker 4: A couple of weeks later, Chelsea was like, come down
- 8:22Speaker 4: to Vegas. I never even told this story. It's crazy.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Chelsea was like, come to Vegas. Kendrick's performing at rehab right,
- 8:29Speaker 4: like he fucks with you, Like, come down here. So
- 8:33Speaker 4: I jump in my Camaro. I got a Camaro at
- 8:35Speaker 4: the time, right boom. I take that nine hour drive
- 8:38Speaker 4: from the Bay all the way to Vegas. So I
- 8:42Speaker 4: get down there, me and my homie, my homie j Kine.
- 8:46Speaker 4: So we get down there and I'm on the side
- 8:48Speaker 4: of the stage. So he getting ready to perform. He
- 8:51Speaker 4: see me on the side of the stage. He like like,
- 8:53Speaker 4: come up here. So I'm like like look in the round,
- 8:57Speaker 4: you know, ka like come up here. So I go
- 9:02Speaker 4: up there boom. I'm chilling and I'm just watching the
- 9:05Speaker 4: show and I was like, this is what I want
- 9:08Speaker 4: to do. I was like, this is what I want
- 9:11Speaker 4: to do. Like I was already rapping, but like I
- 9:14Speaker 4: was around people that was working in the industry. When
- 9:17Speaker 4: I seen somebody that like I related to as a rapper,
- 9:21Speaker 4: I was like, this, what the hell I want to do?
- 9:23Speaker 9: And Rehab looked back then too.
- 9:24Speaker 4: It lit just like twenty thirteen, twenty twelve, somewhere around
- 9:29Speaker 4: it was there. Yeah, like it was. It was lit.
- 9:32Speaker 3: So that's what showed you like this is this is possible,
- 9:36Speaker 3: you know.
- 9:37Speaker 4: So I'm about to tell you the whole story. So
- 9:40Speaker 4: I look at Chelsea. So I'm like Chelse, I'm like,
- 9:44Speaker 4: this is what I want to do. She like, sim
- 9:46Speaker 4: you gotta move to LA. She was like, it's it's
- 9:49Speaker 4: not the right like the proper resources for you down there.
- 9:52Speaker 4: You gotta move. So I come down to La. Come
- 9:56Speaker 4: to La. I'm hustling at the time, doing my ding.
- 9:59Speaker 4: I gotta couple of dollars, right, I go broken ninety days.
- 10:04Speaker 4: That's where I go.
- 10:06Speaker 5: That's the name of the bio Player.
- 10:10Speaker 9: Challenge.
- 10:11Speaker 4: I go broken ninety days because I'm thinking, I gotta
- 10:15Speaker 4: buy the DJ's drinks and do all these different things
- 10:18Speaker 4: and buy the tables in the club. So I'm just
- 10:21Speaker 4: blowing it. But I'm not realizing, like I'm supposed to
- 10:24Speaker 4: be spending my money on developing my craft. So I
- 10:27Speaker 4: ain't went brought no studio, I ain't went brought no laptop,
- 10:31Speaker 4: I ain't got no software. I'm just going to sessions
- 10:34Speaker 4: with Chelse every day. To the point some people just
- 10:37Speaker 4: think I'm the weed man, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:40Speaker 4: Like I'm just rolling up, Like they texted Chelsea like
- 10:44Speaker 4: who's this? So boom. So I started making a little
- 10:49Speaker 4: money just hustling doing my thing, So I go get
- 10:52Speaker 4: me a studio. I get a studio in a rehearsal
- 10:55Speaker 4: hall right where they playing drums and everything so you
- 10:59Speaker 4: can hear the in the back of my music. So
- 11:02Speaker 4: me and Chells get the studio, I meet Phonics and
- 11:06Speaker 4: Dee Brooks. They was like the first people that kind
- 11:09Speaker 4: of told me like how music was changing, because this
- 11:13Speaker 4: was at the time of when we was going from
- 11:15Speaker 4: like the Drake Cole Kendrick CD kind of air into
- 11:21Speaker 4: like the streaming era to where it was more melody driven.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So through that I started writing with them for a
- 11:28Speaker 4: lot of different people. Then we got a meeting to
- 11:31Speaker 4: go play some records at Columbia. We got the Columbia
- 11:35Speaker 4: and I was playing the records that we was writing
- 11:38Speaker 4: for people and they was like, uh, man, we want
- 11:41Speaker 4: to sign, you want to put this out. But the
- 11:43Speaker 4: records really wasn't me. It wasn't like me rapping and
- 11:46Speaker 4: who I was. It was me doing what I think
- 11:48Speaker 4: would work for other people. But I needed the money
- 11:52Speaker 4: at the time. You know what I'm saying, Because I'm
- 11:55Speaker 4: paying for this studio, I'm going broke. So they like,
- 11:58Speaker 4: we're gonna give you one hundred and fifty thousand, I'm
- 12:00Speaker 4: like running, running, Yeah, where do I sign? Because I'm
- 12:06Speaker 4: already knowing like I'm probably only gonna put like one
- 12:10Speaker 4: or two songs out and get dropped because I don't
- 12:12Speaker 4: even know what I'm doing, you know what I mean?
- 12:16Speaker 9: Content was it like three albums? To it like it was?
- 12:19Speaker 4: It was like a two project that was like three albums.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I think three albums three albums. And really, honestly that
- 12:27Speaker 4: happened because of Chelse because I had no buzz, nothing
- 12:31Speaker 4: like it was. She was the new A and R.
- 12:33Speaker 4: She got hired over there and the first person she
- 12:36Speaker 4: signed was me, you know what I mean? So she
- 12:39Speaker 4: brought me, Yeah, shut out to Chelse because that really
- 12:43Speaker 4: kind of like helped boost like my thought process on
- 12:47Speaker 4: what it is I need to do to better myself
- 12:50Speaker 4: to where when I got to Atlantic, I was more
- 12:52Speaker 4: prepared and kind of.
- 12:53Speaker 5: Knew how to you gotta go through that to get
- 12:55Speaker 5: to this.
- 12:55Speaker 4: I'm bad for being sous.
- 12:58Speaker 5: What'd you do with the one fifty book?
- 13:00Speaker 4: Or did you? Nah? So I learned a little bit
- 13:04Speaker 4: from when I moved to La So don't get me wrong,
- 13:07Speaker 4: I fucked off a lot of the money. I wouldn't
- 13:10Speaker 4: bought a Maserati.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Like you got it up front one fifty up front, yeah, yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 3: So I wouldn't got a Maserati just doing all kind
- 13:20Speaker 3: of shit.
- 13:20Speaker 4: But I invested into my studio I started paying like
- 13:25Speaker 4: different songwriters to come by the studio and teach me
- 13:28Speaker 4: how to write hooks in different things like that. Phoenix
- 13:31Speaker 4: and d Brooks played a big part in that as well.
- 13:33Speaker 4: But I invested in myself getting better as an artist
- 13:37Speaker 4: and through that. By the time that deal was over with,
- 13:41Speaker 4: I dropped one song. I dropped one song for the hotel,
- 13:46Speaker 4: and it was a whole regime change. Like three weeks
- 13:48Speaker 4: after I dropped the song, and.
- 13:50Speaker 3: They let they just let you go, let me go.
- 13:52Speaker 3: And you didn't have anything you did have like anything
- 13:54Speaker 3: that you old them anything like that.
- 13:56Speaker 9: Nothing.
- 13:56Speaker 4: See, that's the good thing about labels. I'll be telling
- 13:59Speaker 4: like I'd be telling us that. Like I'll be like,
- 14:03Speaker 4: like you could just go get like a quick three
- 14:06Speaker 4: hundred right quick and just get them people with they
- 14:09Speaker 4: won't get out there like it ain't like the streets
- 14:12Speaker 4: where it's like you could even pay a nigga back
- 14:15Speaker 4: in the streets. He gonna always remind you remember, let
- 14:17Speaker 4: you hold that three hundred thousands.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Man, you old me this.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Like it's different. It's like it's business like you know,
- 14:24Speaker 4: you take what you get from when you However, the
- 14:27Speaker 4: business deal go is.
- 14:28Speaker 9: How I go.
- 14:29Speaker 3: So one of the things that I so from my
- 14:31Speaker 3: advantage point, the major label gives you that start them right,
- 14:36Speaker 3: It gives you like the push it it pushes you
- 14:37Speaker 3: on different platforms.
- 14:38Speaker 9: They play your song on the radio. That you know.
- 14:40Speaker 3: The downside to that is most of the time they
- 14:43Speaker 3: own your music. They own the master's right.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Sit downside, depending on how you look at.
- 14:49Speaker 9: It, them only your master's all right, what's your what's
- 14:53Speaker 9: your take on.
- 14:53Speaker 4: That some people can't do ship with their own masters?
- 14:59Speaker 4: Und you just making thirty five dollars every ninety days
- 15:07Speaker 4: off your music and you own your rights, why not
- 15:10Speaker 4: give up a percentage to get.
- 15:12Speaker 3: So you're comfortable with not owning your masters at the
- 15:15Speaker 3: moment because you see in the future you want to
- 15:19Speaker 3: own your masters. But right now you're looking at it
- 15:22Speaker 3: from a standpoint where your sacrifice not only your masses
- 15:25Speaker 3: now to get to the point where you have start them,
- 15:28Speaker 3: so your masses.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Deeper and deeper than stardom. For me, it's also learning
- 15:33Speaker 4: the industry, it's learning the game. So let's say one
- 15:37Speaker 4: day I'm not in a situation with Atlantic, I'll still
- 15:40Speaker 4: know who to call and who to talk to, and
- 15:42Speaker 4: who does what and what department at Apple? Who does
- 15:46Speaker 4: what is Spotify? And who I need to talk to
- 15:48Speaker 4: to get playlisted over there. So it's deeper than just
- 15:51Speaker 4: start them. It's learning the system. So one day I'm
- 15:54Speaker 4: going to have to create my own and then I'll
- 15:57Speaker 4: know who to go to to make that sport.
- 15:59Speaker 5: Yeah, relationship, it's one of those advantages.
- 16:01Speaker 8: And it's I think even for us when when Charlomagne
- 16:05Speaker 8: was you know, we were over at Black Effect, it
- 16:06Speaker 8: was like, figure about what everybody's doing, because at some
- 16:09Speaker 8: point what y'all are building would be bigger and you'll
- 16:12Speaker 8: know the people to go to. Exactly, you said something
- 16:14Speaker 8: very important. You said that you didn't have the team,
- 16:16Speaker 8: you had to build one. And it made me think
- 16:18Speaker 8: of this this line on sacrifices, and you were saying,
- 16:21Speaker 8: the people that I'm with ain't the people I should
- 16:24Speaker 8: have made it with.
- 16:26Speaker 5: That's pretty complex, right.
- 16:28Speaker 8: So like talk about that because it's like you are
- 16:31Speaker 8: aware that these an't the people I should have been around,
- 16:34Speaker 8: the people on the other side of the people that
- 16:36Speaker 8: really gave me the push to get here. How do you, like,
- 16:40Speaker 8: how do you manage that?
- 16:41Speaker 4: So, like I said, bro in the Bay, it was
- 16:45Speaker 4: tough for me to develop a team in the Bay areas.
- 16:47Speaker 4: It's tough. It's tough trying to break through, and everybody
- 16:52Speaker 4: got their own things going on, and it's not like
- 16:54Speaker 4: my friends are passionate about my dream. As I am.
- 16:59Speaker 5: Money, it comes with a lot of questions. How do
- 17:02Speaker 5: I save?
- 17:02Speaker 8: Where should I invest? Can I build wealth to pass on?
- 17:05Speaker 8: It's hard to know where to get the answers. That's
- 17:08Speaker 8: why the people at Fidelity do what they do. They
- 17:10Speaker 8: make it easier for you to get information to make
- 17:13Speaker 8: better money decisions. They've got articles and videos, tips and apps,
- 17:17Speaker 8: and insights and perspectives that can make planning, saving and
- 17:20Speaker 8: investing less stressful. And when you want to talk it through,
- 17:24Speaker 8: there's a real person on the other end with real answers.
- 17:26Speaker 8: Helping people is what they do and as a part
- 17:29Speaker 8: of their two hundred and fifty million dollar invest in
- 17:32Speaker 8: My Education initiative, Fidelity is supporting eligible students from underserved
- 17:36Speaker 8: communities in the Boston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Raley Durham
- 17:40Speaker 8: areas by combining scholarships with ongoing assistance, mentorship, and better
- 17:45Speaker 8: paths to post graduation employment. Want to learn more, Visitfidelity
- 17:49Speaker 8: dot com slash black Wealth.
- 17:52Speaker 4: You know. So it's tough to make them a part
- 17:57Speaker 4: of that sometimes when it's like you growing at a
- 17:59Speaker 4: certain page and they not like kind of growing at
- 18:02Speaker 4: the job that they need to do to help keep
- 18:04Speaker 4: you there, you know what I mean. So it was
- 18:08Speaker 4: very tough for me to try to like put a
- 18:10Speaker 4: team together amongst who I was around, So I had
- 18:12Speaker 4: to go find outsource help. So the people who ended
- 18:15Speaker 4: up helping me, like my production company who I'm signed to,
- 18:18Speaker 4: Star Island, shout out to them. They're based out of Philadelphia,
- 18:22Speaker 4: but that happened through a relationship that I had with
- 18:25Speaker 4: someone that they introduced me to them. We've seen eye
- 18:29Speaker 4: eye on the same things I seen. They just as
- 18:31Speaker 4: passionate about what they do as I am with what
- 18:34Speaker 4: I do, and I'm like, you know what, I need
- 18:36Speaker 4: to link with them. They ended up getting me my
- 18:38Speaker 4: deal Tolantic, you know what I mean. So it's like
- 18:43Speaker 4: sometimes you gotta kind of reach out, you know, and
- 18:46Speaker 4: get outsource help. But that don't mean you gotta forget
- 18:49Speaker 4: who didn't help. It's still as you grow, you'll be
- 18:51Speaker 4: able to open new doors and find new roles for
- 18:54Speaker 4: people that was there before.
- 18:55Speaker 3: And I want to go back to the label thing
- 18:57Speaker 3: because that was pretty insightful. It's like, sometimes you have
- 19:00Speaker 3: to infiltrate the system to learn the system exactly to
- 19:04Speaker 3: create your own system. And that's something that Dane, you know,
- 19:07Speaker 3: Dan Dane always tell us that all the time, Like,
- 19:11Speaker 3: you know, cause we work with a lot of different
- 19:12Speaker 3: corporate relationships, like we gotta show a Revolt shout out
- 19:15Speaker 3: to Revolt. He did an episode with us and he
- 19:19Speaker 3: came in and he seems like a movie production. It
- 19:22Speaker 3: was like one hundred different camera men and all of that,
- 19:23Speaker 3: and he was like, Yo, how much does this on
- 19:26Speaker 3: cost to do this?
- 19:28Speaker 9: I don't know?
- 19:28Speaker 3: And he was like, well, why don't you know. I'm like, well,
- 19:31Speaker 3: this is this isn't our production, it's their production. He
- 19:33Speaker 3: was like, you turn into talent that quick. He's like,
- 19:36Speaker 3: you're supposed to know. Like he was like, even if
- 19:38Speaker 3: it's not, you're not paying for it. Now you understand
- 19:40Speaker 3: how a higher level production works and you can say, Okay,
- 19:44Speaker 3: this is needed, this isn't needed, this is no da
- 19:46Speaker 3: da da. And then when he said that to me,
- 19:47Speaker 3: I'm like, damn, he's right, you know what I'm saying
- 19:50Speaker 3: because now it's like when we're producing shows like that,
- 19:53Speaker 3: we already have the inside information because we've learned it.
- 19:58Speaker 5: A lot of.
- 19:59Speaker 3: People just go through it's just talent. They never take
- 20:02Speaker 3: the time to learn the business. But it's like that's
- 20:04Speaker 3: really like being an intern, Like you got the inside
- 20:07Speaker 3: a vantage point of how a corporate structure works.
- 20:11Speaker 9: And that's actually what we did.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Even like I said with iHeart, like you know, now
- 20:14Speaker 3: we see how contracts work, how to run a podcast
- 20:18Speaker 3: now exactly. Now we can run a podcast that we're
- 20:20Speaker 3: kind of merit off of. You know, we take some things,
- 20:22Speaker 3: we add different things. So I think people need to
- 20:26Speaker 3: fully understand that, like whether no matter what you do,
- 20:28Speaker 3: you play sports, you do music, whatever, it's okay not
- 20:32Speaker 3: to be the owner, but you should be learning.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Shit understand what's going on. That's a fact because it's
- 20:37Speaker 4: like you never know how you're going to need something,
- 20:44Speaker 4: you know what I mean, or when you're going to
- 20:46Speaker 4: need it. So it's like you could be going through
- 20:48Speaker 4: something you might think like, oh, okay, this is how
- 20:50Speaker 4: I've seen it done over here, so let me kind
- 20:53Speaker 4: of see how this works over here. Let me apply
- 20:56Speaker 4: something over here. But if you never see that you'll
- 20:58Speaker 4: never know to do that.
- 21:00Speaker 9: That's a fact.
- 21:00Speaker 4: So I agree with that bro in thousand.
- 21:03Speaker 3: So let me ask you this as far as you
- 21:08Speaker 3: have a very unique way of marketing yourself on social media,
- 21:11Speaker 3: right like freestyles and your active.
- 21:14Speaker 9: It's similar to Larussell.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Like, I feel like you guys because a lot of
- 21:18Speaker 3: artists don't utilize social media like they have like eight posts.
- 21:22Speaker 3: They're like very like artsy with it, Like they got
- 21:24Speaker 3: like one post like with a banana and it's just
- 21:27Speaker 3: like no caption. I understand it. I guess a mystique.
- 21:31Speaker 3: But you guys, you on Instagram like every day like it.
- 21:34Speaker 3: So what's your strategy with that? Like you're just going
- 21:36Speaker 3: to just put out ten posts a day?
- 21:38Speaker 4: Now? See the Russell's different. L Russell do but six
- 21:43Speaker 4: posts a day, like on a good day. On a
- 21:47Speaker 4: good day, I might give you two. But I tried to.
- 21:52Speaker 4: I try to curate like things of culture, you know
- 21:56Speaker 4: what I mean, like things that we haven't seen in
- 21:58Speaker 4: a while. Like I always like, like what would hip
- 22:04Speaker 4: hop in the early two thousands look like in twenty
- 22:07Speaker 4: twenty three. That's how I kind of approach social media.
- 22:11Speaker 4: So it's like like what would Pop be doing courtside?
- 22:15Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying with the camera out, Like
- 22:17Speaker 4: how would hold be rapping? What would he be addressing?
- 22:20Speaker 4: So for me, I'm always trying to find like cultural
- 22:23Speaker 4: moments that we as a culture could kind of be
- 22:26Speaker 4: like damn, this makes me feel something or just this
- 22:29Speaker 4: makes me remember a time in hip hop that I
- 22:32Speaker 4: was growing up or something like that. So for me,
- 22:36Speaker 4: it's always looking for cultural moments. I'm not like just
- 22:39Speaker 4: into like freestyling every day, like or just posting music
- 22:45Speaker 4: every day. Like I post the things that I like
- 22:49Speaker 4: to do, and I try to time into the culture
- 22:52Speaker 4: that I love and show people how we could all
- 22:54Speaker 4: come together through social media.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Yeah, you said that community is your thing.
- 22:57Speaker 8: Yeah, building community, said, I'm listening to you and you're
- 23:01Speaker 8: talking about Mom and Mom was big on community for homes,
- 23:06Speaker 8: have real estate, right for a restaurant. I'm like, you
- 23:10Speaker 8: watch Mom do all that, and you still said, I
- 23:13Speaker 8: want to go into the world of entertainment. So talk
- 23:16Speaker 8: about the lessons that you work you learn from Mom
- 23:18Speaker 8: watching her bill community and being an entrepreneur. That made
- 23:22Speaker 8: you say, well, I want to be an entrepreneur, but
- 23:23Speaker 8: I want to do it in music.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Bro, I was an entertainer before my mama was a
- 23:28Speaker 4: real estate agent. Like I just knew as a kid,
- 23:34Speaker 4: like this was what I was going to do. Rather
- 23:36Speaker 4: it was in sports, you know what I mean, whether
- 23:39Speaker 4: it was in music, whether it was in movies, whatever
- 23:42Speaker 4: it was going to be. I just knew I was
- 23:44Speaker 4: going to be in entertainment. And I love what my
- 23:48Speaker 4: mom do, you know what I mean, Like my mom
- 23:50Speaker 4: always like you should do this, you should do that, jumping.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Really it's just not something I'm passionate about. Like I'm
- 23:57Speaker 4: passionate about entertaining people with information, you know what I mean,
- 24:02Speaker 4: and learning things and showing people how like you could
- 24:05Speaker 4: grow up and it's cool to grow, like I be
- 24:08Speaker 4: feeling like in hip hop sometimes like they make it
- 24:11Speaker 4: like we all got to just be like a young
- 24:14Speaker 4: wild nigga, you know what I mean, Like we can't
- 24:16Speaker 4: just grow up, you know what I mean, and post
- 24:19Speaker 4: our cribs, post our families and different things like that.
- 24:22Speaker 4: So I try to be like a representation of that.
- 24:27Speaker 4: And my mom was crazy is she was a rapper.
- 24:31Speaker 4: My mom was a rapper before she was a real
- 24:34Speaker 4: estate agent. So technically I'm the version of my mom
- 24:38Speaker 4: that didn't make it first, didn't make it in music
- 24:43Speaker 4: because she made it in real estate.
- 24:45Speaker 9: So she invested in real estate.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Too, right, Yeah, she's heavy in real estate.
- 24:49Speaker 3: So I know you're not passionate about that, but do
- 24:51Speaker 3: you like consult what Like is there a situation where
- 24:54Speaker 3: it's like, all, I'm gonna give you some money and
- 24:56Speaker 3: then you like you do it or I'm investing you.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Nah? Like we just literally we got a property, me
- 25:02Speaker 4: and one of my partners right here, not like literally
- 25:04Speaker 4: bro about two miles away in Hollywood Boulevard. Yeah, Like
- 25:08Speaker 4: I got a media company that was that we're actually started.
- 25:11Speaker 4: So that's why we was talking about infiltrating the system.
- 25:14Speaker 4: These same cameras you got, we just bought. So you
- 25:17Speaker 4: know what I mean, I can show you. I'll show
- 25:19Speaker 4: you my whole thing and my setup. But we're getting
- 25:22Speaker 4: ready to produce a lot of different shows out of
- 25:24Speaker 4: our space. So we got a fourth floor unit and
- 25:27Speaker 4: on the first floors for podcasts and television and film.
- 25:30Speaker 4: The second floor we got to watch room. The third
- 25:33Speaker 4: floor we got a studio, and the fourth floors for
- 25:35Speaker 4: gaming and AI. So I'm all about like innovation, That's
- 25:39Speaker 4: what I'm passionate about. But real estate is not something
- 25:43Speaker 4: to where I could just sit here and tell you, well,
- 25:45Speaker 4: the market is doing this somebody, you know what I mean,
- 25:48Speaker 4: Like that ain't what I do. I talk to my mom,
- 25:50Speaker 4: I let her know what I want to do, and
- 25:51Speaker 4: then I invest in things kind of around that.
- 25:53Speaker 3: So content a content house, Yeah, it's a good idea,
- 25:56Speaker 3: especially in LA. Yeah, everybody's making content and really you
- 26:00Speaker 3: hit every everyone. You got a studio recordings through down there,
- 26:03Speaker 3: so you got the podcast, recording, studio, gaming studio.
- 26:06Speaker 9: That's everything. That's everything that's people are doing right now.
- 26:08Speaker 3: So talk about So we spoke to Acon and he
- 26:11Speaker 3: was talking about like how music for him. He was like,
- 26:14Speaker 3: if you look at all of the people that's really
- 26:15Speaker 3: been successful as far as like making a lot of money,
- 26:17Speaker 3: they ain't through it through music. He was like, his
- 26:19Speaker 3: thing was always just using music as a catalyst to
- 26:22Speaker 3: get into the door, to build your name, to get recognition,
- 26:26Speaker 3: and then just start spinning off and doing other things.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Obviously you still knewer in the game, but if that
- 26:32Speaker 3: something that you thought about or you're thinking about as
- 26:35Speaker 3: far as like, you know, using your stardom and then
- 26:39Speaker 3: you know, branching off and doing other stuff.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I agree with that until a concept, a certain word,
- 26:46Speaker 4: a certain word was through because all of this shit
- 26:50Speaker 4: happened through music, you know what I mean. Like, so, yes,
- 26:55Speaker 4: we may not obtain the money through real estate we
- 26:58Speaker 4: can make, but music is what gave us the money
- 27:02Speaker 4: to go into realistic So one thousand percent that's something
- 27:06Speaker 4: that I definitely want to do. Like I was talking
- 27:09Speaker 4: to Joe, That's who kind of taught me that. I know,
- 27:11Speaker 4: y'all know Joe, No, Joe Budden, Oh yeahah yeah, Joe.
- 27:16Speaker 4: I think Joe told me like two years ago, like
- 27:20Speaker 4: he was like, Bro, you're going to do good and rap,
- 27:22Speaker 4: You're gonna do all these different things, but you should
- 27:24Speaker 4: really lock into your other passions because it comes down
- 27:28Speaker 4: to what else can you do outside of music? Because
- 27:31Speaker 4: you have to do it again in different spaces. So
- 27:34Speaker 4: that's the whole reason why I wanted to create a
- 27:37Speaker 4: content house because it was like, what's the one thing
- 27:40Speaker 4: I'm missing to make me feel like I'm not giving
- 27:44Speaker 4: my best every day? And what I noticed is which
- 27:48Speaker 4: is something I'm fixing now. My schedule used to be
- 27:50Speaker 4: so scattered, you know what I mean, I'll be at
- 27:54Speaker 4: a session this day. I'm doing a podcast this day.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Somebody called me to do this video popping up. I
- 27:59Speaker 4: didn't really like create a balance, and because of that,
- 28:02Speaker 4: I would be recording at this studio or recording at
- 28:05Speaker 4: this studio with this engineer and this different engineer, my
- 28:08Speaker 4: music would kind of be sounding a little bit all
- 28:10Speaker 4: over the place. So I needed somewhere to like centralize
- 28:14Speaker 4: my creativity. And that was the whole point of the
- 28:18Speaker 4: content space. So what we're doing there is creating different podcasts,
- 28:23Speaker 4: creating different television shows, creating music and different brands for
- 28:27Speaker 4: different people, and gaming and different ideas like that. So
- 28:31Speaker 4: that's definitely something that.
- 28:33Speaker 3: So is that studio like anybody can just rent out
- 28:36Speaker 3: or is like in house, like these people are like
- 28:38Speaker 3: kind of like signed to you.
- 28:39Speaker 4: It's something people could rent out, but just not the public.
- 28:42Speaker 4: The public can't rent it out. But if you connected
- 28:45Speaker 4: and know how to get in touch with the studio manager,
- 28:48Speaker 4: the studio manager will lock you in to get through.
- 28:50Speaker 5: So you're building that right, So you're building the studio manager.
- 28:53Speaker 4: It's because we got it already. Shout out the brad,
- 28:56Speaker 4: my man, we got a studio manager. We're actually looking
- 29:01Speaker 4: for a producer right now to come in and produce
- 29:05Speaker 4: a lot of these different ideas that we haven't. We
- 29:08Speaker 4: just sat down with three different people this week, so
- 29:12Speaker 4: it's it's food like coming together. I plan to have
- 29:15Speaker 4: everything up and running by August first. But like we
- 29:19Speaker 4: were coming together strong, do.
- 29:21Speaker 5: You plan to scale it? So?
- 29:22Speaker 8: I know you started here, but real estate is a
- 29:25Speaker 8: global thing, right and so you got ties to Philly.
- 29:28Speaker 8: We know in New York is a vision to scale
- 29:31Speaker 8: this model and do it throughout.
- 29:35Speaker 4: And like even when you like walk in, like I
- 29:37Speaker 4: want to take y'all so y'all can see it. But
- 29:39Speaker 4: it's like when you walk in, it's more of like
- 29:43Speaker 4: a museum of culture, you know what I'm saying. Like
- 29:46Speaker 4: it's like like I got paintings coming in. It's like
- 29:51Speaker 4: Mount Rushmore is a like New York rappers, and Mount
- 29:54Speaker 4: Rushmore is La Rappers, and Mount Rushmore is a Southern
- 29:57Speaker 4: rappers and like a podcast painting. So it's like kind
- 30:00Speaker 4: of like a real creative house for our culture to
- 30:04Speaker 4: where people come in. It's like you actually want to
- 30:07Speaker 4: be creative and want to work.
- 30:08Speaker 3: It's like a fathe house, you know, fhase Claim, Oh
- 30:12Speaker 3: thank god. Fays Claim is this big video gaming crew.
- 30:15Speaker 3: They got like a billion dollar valuation, the huge like
- 30:17Speaker 3: all of a lot of rappers and athletes and all that.
- 30:19Speaker 4: But I think I heard of him. My voice from
- 30:22Speaker 4: game over was telling me about that. Yeah.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Yeah, So they created a whole culture. My son put
- 30:26Speaker 3: me on to him because he's a gamer. So I
- 30:30Speaker 3: started doing research on them, and they've created a whole culture.
- 30:33Speaker 3: It's they have a house and they got like twelve
- 30:35Speaker 3: different people. It's like, you know, different personalities, but they
- 30:38Speaker 3: played video games. But it's like that house is just
- 30:43Speaker 3: like a cultural phenomenon, you know what I mean. So
- 30:46Speaker 3: the idea of doing something like that for the hip
- 30:49Speaker 3: hop twist, I think it's dope.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I'm gonna be hosting, like I'm getting ready
- 30:53Speaker 4: to drop a new project soon. I'm gonna be doing
- 30:55Speaker 4: my listening party there, you know what I mean, for an.
- 30:58Speaker 5: Exclusive fifty people.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Like I was just with Dave Chappelle the other night,
- 31:04Speaker 4: you know, and we was he was talking, I was
- 31:06Speaker 4: showing him the studio and everything. We was talking about
- 31:08Speaker 4: possibly him coming through and doing like something private, you
- 31:12Speaker 4: know what I mean, just like making it like a
- 31:14Speaker 4: place of like yeah, like cultural shit. We even came
- 31:18Speaker 4: up with this idea having a restaurant that's open twelve
- 31:21Speaker 4: days a year, you know, and like each once a yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 4: like a pop up thing, and you like different people exactly,
- 31:29Speaker 4: you invite different people, so like we it's it's coming
- 31:32Speaker 4: together real cool.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Yeah, wow, yeah, I like that. Twelve days a year
- 31:37Speaker 5: that means once a month, yeah, anybody.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Each day, each day of the month would be a
- 31:43Speaker 4: different theme. So like let's say January would do Italian
- 31:46Speaker 4: February it'd be soul food. Uh, March would be like
- 31:51Speaker 4: Chinese food, like something different every time.
- 31:54Speaker 5: The time is come, lads and gentlemen.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Invest Fest that's right, that's right.
- 31:57Speaker 5: Invest Best twenty twenty three is here.
- 32:00Speaker 3: In August twenty fifth, twenty sixth, and twenty seventh in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 32:03Speaker 9: We are taking into a new level, bigger than ever.
- 32:06Speaker 3: This year we're gonna do twenty thousand people in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 32:11Speaker 5: I want you to do yourself a favor. Head over
- 32:13Speaker 5: to investments dot com right now.
- 32:14Speaker 3: We will have activations for on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,
- 32:18Speaker 3: three days musical performances. Billionaires everything is going to be
- 32:23Speaker 3: a completely life changing experience. Vendor, marketplace, food truck village.
- 32:28Speaker 3: You know how we do.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Don't wait, don't hesitate that over now creative House.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Yeah, we actually had similar ideas to that. We actually
- 32:37Speaker 3: actually implement it, but just for the events. Shout out
- 32:39Speaker 3: to the United Masters. We have a franchise with them
- 32:42Speaker 3: called Earn Your Masters. We do south By Southwest, we
- 32:45Speaker 3: do are Seen It and we did New York Fashion
- 32:48Speaker 3: Week and it's like a pop up event and we
- 32:50Speaker 3: like interview like Timberland, and we have like musical artists
- 32:53Speaker 3: perform until we perform.
- 32:55Speaker 9: It's just kind of like a bunch of just random stuff,
- 32:57Speaker 9: just cultural.
- 32:57Speaker 3: But that idea for the house was something that that
- 33:00Speaker 3: you know, originally thought about it even like going back
- 33:02Speaker 3: to the Reil world the exactly like.
- 33:06Speaker 4: From that, you know that was the first social media. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 33:10Speaker 4: that was the first social media. That was the first
- 33:12Speaker 4: time we seen I say social media, And I'm gonna
- 33:17Speaker 4: say why I say social media because I feel like
- 33:19Speaker 4: reality TV is a form of social media, But I
- 33:24Speaker 4: feel like it was the first time we seen people
- 33:27Speaker 4: we didn't know from nowhere just on a public platform
- 33:34Speaker 4: being becoming a celebrity.
- 33:36Speaker 9: That's a fact.
- 33:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:37Speaker 4: So that's why I say it's more social media than
- 33:40Speaker 4: even though it was reality TV. But it's like, that's
- 33:42Speaker 4: what social media is today. It's like everybody has a
- 33:45Speaker 4: public platform for them to have an opinion. Every day person,
- 33:48Speaker 4: you know what I mean, be somebody in real world.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Was like the first kind of concept we've seen there.
- 33:54Speaker 5: That's a fact.
- 33:55Speaker 8: That's a fact. I never thought about it like that,
- 33:57Speaker 8: but a fact. Shout to the original New York caste.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Jersey Shue or too so you you you you have
- 34:07Speaker 3: an interesting song the goat. Yeah, speaking of the Mount Rushmore,
- 34:12Speaker 3: that made me think about that. There's always debates on
- 34:14Speaker 3: the goats, right, who's the the Lebron Jordan top five,
- 34:18Speaker 3: top four basketball players, who's the top four lyricists, top
- 34:22Speaker 3: five that all alive? Yes, spin on it is that
- 34:25Speaker 3: we all goats, we all goots. But everybody can't be
- 34:28Speaker 3: a goat. Let's be honest, you.
- 34:29Speaker 9: Can, can you really?
- 34:32Speaker 4: Because we're in the United States Constitution, is there laws
- 34:39Speaker 4: for a go.
- 34:40Speaker 9: I'm just saying because.
- 34:43Speaker 8: The goat, Well, we got first give comments to LLL
- 34:46Speaker 8: because before ll we never heard the word go.
- 34:48Speaker 9: But I think Muhamma Ali.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I don't know if that's true.
- 34:51Speaker 8: If I went back and looked, he called himself the
- 34:54Speaker 8: greatest of all time.
- 34:55Speaker 9: Mohammad Ali called himself the acronym L.
- 34:58Speaker 4: He heard us that it was somebody before LLL. But
- 35:02Speaker 4: I can't remember the story, so I shouldn't even have
- 35:04Speaker 4: said that. But I heard it was somebody.
- 35:07Speaker 5: He was running with that he named his album that.
- 35:10Speaker 9: He definitely he was. Yeah, he said he was vocal,
- 35:12Speaker 9: he was very vocal.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Acronym.
- 35:14Speaker 4: He owned it. He was the first one that owned it. Yeah,
- 35:17Speaker 4: I think you can't anybody could be a go because
- 35:22Speaker 4: there's no law or there's no real criteria to say
- 35:25Speaker 4: who's the greatest of all time?
- 35:27Speaker 3: But do you do you water that? Like the word legend, right,
- 35:33Speaker 3: it gets watered down. Legend definitely is everybody a legend?
- 35:36Speaker 3: But I think the legend there could be multiple.
- 35:39Speaker 8: Right, when you say greatest, it almost become singular, right,
- 35:42Speaker 8: like you're the greatest to do something, then you're the
- 35:45Speaker 8: best to do it. Legend is like multiple. You could
- 35:49Speaker 8: be a legend in different genres and different things.
- 35:52Speaker 3: But I understand why you said that, and I appreciate
- 35:55Speaker 3: the message. I think like, let's take a Dylan Brooks
- 35:58Speaker 3: right shout to him. But I'm just saying things like
- 36:02Speaker 3: that. That's where it starts getting dyling. Brooks is a legend.
- 36:06Speaker 4: No, he's not from my point. And Dylan Brooks could
- 36:14Speaker 4: be from some Canada or something.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Right, he's from Ontario.
- 36:18Speaker 4: He could be somebody that's the first from his neighborhood,
- 36:21Speaker 4: bro who did what he's doing in America.
- 36:24Speaker 6: But not even to them, he's a legend. He might
- 36:27Speaker 6: when he goes on the canvas of Oregon, he probably
- 36:30Speaker 6: a legend.
- 36:31Speaker 5: That's the fact. How many guys from organ make it
- 36:33Speaker 5: to the league and have a career, not man.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Leaves way.
- 36:44Speaker 5: I'll see you in the NBA next season, my brother to.
- 36:47Speaker 3: A false reality though, because a lot of even in rap, right,
- 36:49Speaker 3: there's rappers where you start to disregard like a true
- 36:55Speaker 3: legend right and say like, yo, he's not all of it,
- 36:57Speaker 3: and it's like that comfort.
- 36:59Speaker 4: It's so a legend. Yes, yes, it's a hurricane Chris,
- 37:02Speaker 4: a leegend.
- 37:03Speaker 9: Hurricane Chris Aby that legend word is just so strong.
- 37:08Speaker 4: It is Hurricane Chris is Hurricane Chris alleged No, because
- 37:14Speaker 4: he has a legendary soon.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Yes, is he not a legend because he hasn't his
- 37:19Speaker 3: body of work. I think in order to be a legend,
- 37:21Speaker 3: it's like a resume, right, the resume doesn't doesn't check
- 37:26Speaker 3: those one thing doesn't make you legendary.
- 37:28Speaker 4: It's the pure definition of legend.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Doing things that nobody has ever done, being extremely consistent,
- 37:35Speaker 3: doing it on larger scales, being a pioneer. These are
- 37:41Speaker 3: all things that you know, you can say you do.
- 37:43Speaker 3: You check a lot of these boxes, you a legend.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Okay, I think Hurricane Chris checks off about three of
- 37:49Speaker 4: those things.
- 37:50Speaker 5: Three.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Yeah, what's the consistency?
- 37:53Speaker 9: All right?
- 37:55Speaker 4: He did something legendary, and he did something most people
- 37:58Speaker 4: can't do, which is make it ricord.
- 38:00Speaker 9: That's the fact.
- 38:02Speaker 4: And what was the other when you said he consistency pioneer, pioneer,
- 38:07Speaker 4: he pioneered some ship.
- 38:08Speaker 9: With the pioneer.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Hey maybe, but that's not his though.
- 38:15Speaker 4: He pioneer turned to DJ's name.
- 38:21Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. It was a DJ. It's a
- 38:22Speaker 5: DJ's name out.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Yeah, he's from Dallas.
- 38:26Speaker 8: The same the same day we met you, we met him.
- 38:28Speaker 8: He's like, that's mine. Yeah, Radio Room.
- 38:33Speaker 4: He was the first one to make a DJ, Exactly,
- 38:39Speaker 4: he's a legend.
- 38:40Speaker 8: No, he's out the first we came him that Veric
- 38:43Speaker 8: Beef for President makes the DJ the legend. The song
- 38:46Speaker 8: is not even rockets Eric Beef for President, but Bay's
- 38:48Speaker 8: the hook. But Eric Beef for President makes the DJ
- 38:52Speaker 8: on the forefront. Very Beef for President was the name
- 38:54Speaker 8: of the song exactly. But if Jazzy Jeff doesn't have
- 38:58Speaker 8: a song.
- 39:00Speaker 4: We sound like dinosaurs.
- 39:04Speaker 9: All right, where are we going next? Africa?
- 39:07Speaker 8: I want to go to Africa, man, And because I
- 39:10Speaker 8: watched that trip that you took and it was powerful,
- 39:13Speaker 8: and we drove down those roads. We went to Legos,
- 39:15Speaker 8: Nigeria ourselves, and to see you do it, I was like, wow,
- 39:19Speaker 8: he gets it. So I want to know what inspired
- 39:21Speaker 8: that trip because most people and we just came from
- 39:23Speaker 8: African and shout everybody at African. You know that we
- 39:26Speaker 8: had were honored out there, and we understood the mission
- 39:30Speaker 8: of connecting diaspora and bigger than just talking about it,
- 39:35Speaker 8: actually going to see the people and putting your feet
- 39:37Speaker 8: on the ground. So I want to know what inspired
- 39:38Speaker 8: you and and we'll take it from there.
- 39:41Speaker 4: So I was sitting in Atlanta when I was on tour,
- 39:45Speaker 4: and I was talking to this guy and I was like,
- 39:49Speaker 4: you know, saying all these different things, bro, where I
- 39:51Speaker 4: want to go? And he was like, uh, I said
- 39:54Speaker 4: something like I'm an African American man. We was talking
- 39:56Speaker 4: about something. He was like, oh, you ever been to Africa?
- 40:00Speaker 4: Like nah? He was like, so you're an African American
- 40:03Speaker 4: man and you've never been to Africa. And I was
- 40:06Speaker 4: like damn. And it hurt even more that a white
- 40:11Speaker 4: dude said it was like damn. So I said, I
- 40:14Speaker 4: need to go to Africa. So I started looking into like,
- 40:17Speaker 4: you know, what I could do to go and all
- 40:18Speaker 4: these different things. So I got a homie named Io
- 40:21Speaker 4: who's from Nigeria. I met through my guy Frank shut
- 40:25Speaker 4: out Frank, and Io was telling me he was actually
- 40:31Speaker 4: getting ready to go back over there and do some
- 40:33Speaker 4: things for the kids, and you know, telling me how
- 40:36Speaker 4: like everybody comes over there and they usually bring like
- 40:40Speaker 4: clothes or money, but they never really bring things to
- 40:43Speaker 4: help these kids or whatever. So I was like, man,
- 40:48Speaker 4: let's go, Like I'm down to go. So we all
- 40:51Speaker 4: go over there, and immediately when we get over there,
- 40:53Speaker 4: we realized like, well right before we kind of knew
- 40:57Speaker 4: like it was a there not as advanced in technology
- 41:02Speaker 4: as we are over here right as far like they
- 41:05Speaker 4: got computers and different things like that, but they don't
- 41:07Speaker 4: have it in abundance like we do. So we was
- 41:11Speaker 4: already talking about bringing laptops over there for the kids.
- 41:14Speaker 4: But I got a homegirl who works in AI. She
- 41:17Speaker 4: has a dope program, and we was like, we could
- 41:19Speaker 4: put onto the laptops where it can help the kids
- 41:21Speaker 4: learn to navigate through the computer faster. So we go
- 41:25Speaker 4: over there, Bro, and immediately, Doug, when I get over there,
- 41:32Speaker 4: it was like a culture shock. It was like a
- 41:35Speaker 4: real culture shock because the first thing is so hot.
- 41:40Speaker 9: At the airport.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Bro, the airport like a bus term no disrespect, but
- 41:44Speaker 3: we I'll let you finish.
- 41:45Speaker 9: But we got a story, all right.
- 41:49Speaker 10: Bro.
- 41:49Speaker 4: It was so hot to where immediately like it make
- 41:52Speaker 4: you take the labels off. You feel like you're not
- 41:56Speaker 4: You're not worried about getting fly every day. You ain't
- 41:59Speaker 4: worried about your fit, you ain't worried about that. So
- 42:02Speaker 4: that process puts you in humanity, you know what I'm saying.
- 42:07Speaker 4: So now you moving like how you don't have to
- 42:10Speaker 4: move over here? A lot of it over here, is
- 42:12Speaker 4: about elitists and status and all these different things. What
- 42:15Speaker 4: kind of shoes you got on over there? Is like
- 42:18Speaker 4: you know what you really contributing to our people? You
- 42:21Speaker 4: know what I mean? Like, how are you helping us
- 42:23Speaker 4: as a people? So I get over there, man, and
- 42:27Speaker 4: I'm moving through. So we were staying on the island,
- 42:29Speaker 4: and then we were going to the mainland every day.
- 42:32Speaker 4: So he going into the main land and I'm seeing
- 42:34Speaker 4: just like cows and like people just like selling everything
- 42:39Speaker 4: they could find and like doing all these different things.
- 42:42Speaker 4: So I met this kid kids in front of the
- 42:45Speaker 4: stories rapping or whatever. I'm like, Dan, this kid kind
- 42:49Speaker 4: of dope. I end up posting the kid or whatever. Yeah,
- 42:52Speaker 4: posted them and went up. Everybody in Nigeria start start
- 42:59Speaker 4: tagging them every thing, right, so I immediately start getting
- 43:02Speaker 4: hit Yo, we want you to come to this radio station.
- 43:05Speaker 9: Yo.
- 43:05Speaker 4: He wants you to come to this thing, like, Yo,
- 43:07Speaker 4: we want you to come to Africa today. It's like
- 43:09Speaker 4: to see and in Africa over there. So now I'm
- 43:11Speaker 4: on a press run, you know what I mean. I'm
- 43:15Speaker 4: on an organic press run just like literally went there
- 43:18Speaker 4: to see the city. I'm on a press run and
- 43:20Speaker 4: I'm bringing Lucky with me, bringing them with me, talking
- 43:24Speaker 4: about everything. So on the first day we go do
- 43:27Speaker 4: some interviews and I'm like, man, I'm hungry. So we
- 43:31Speaker 4: go over to this restaurant across the street. We get
- 43:34Speaker 4: some food and I'm like, what you want to eat?
- 43:37Speaker 4: And he like like, I don't know, you know what
- 43:42Speaker 4: I mean? Like, I'm like what you mean? So my homie, like, Lucky,
- 43:47Speaker 4: you ever ate at a restaurant? He like no, how
- 43:51Speaker 4: was he fourteen? He was like, you ever had a hamburger?
- 43:55Speaker 4: And he was like no, it's like pretty much like
- 43:59Speaker 4: you east right, and like these things called bones every day,
- 44:02Speaker 4: which is like these like small chicken uh they like
- 44:07Speaker 4: chicken gizzards kind of. So we get him a hamburger, bro,
- 44:12Speaker 4: and I watched me at the hamburger and it immediately
- 44:15Speaker 4: made me just be like, Bro, we got life fucked up.
- 44:19Speaker 4: We got life fucked up over here. Bro, we be
- 44:23Speaker 4: so consumed with the bullshit to where it's like we
- 44:26Speaker 4: don't even really see the life in front of us.
- 44:30Speaker 4: So from that day, from when I seen that, I
- 44:33Speaker 4: just started living in it, bro, you know what I mean? Like,
- 44:36Speaker 4: I just start going where the people was at if
- 44:38Speaker 4: people was hitting me like, Yo, you got this going on.
- 44:41Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm pulling up the veto had a concert.
- 44:45Speaker 4: I pulled up. He brought me out on stage. You know.
- 44:48Speaker 4: So one thing I noticed was just like the love
- 44:53Speaker 4: I'm doing all this movement. I ain't looked over my
- 44:55Speaker 4: shoulder one time. I ain't feel like nobody was about
- 44:58Speaker 4: to rob me one time. I ain't like nobody was
- 45:01Speaker 4: finna take my jury or do something to my son.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Not one time. Now they gonna ask you for some money.
- 45:08Speaker 4: They're gonna ask you for some money, you know what
- 45:10Speaker 4: I mean.
- 45:10Speaker 5: I saw when you pulled up with the van.
- 45:12Speaker 4: Yeah, they gonna ask you for a little money. But
- 45:14Speaker 4: it wasn't like I felt threatened if I didn't give
- 45:17Speaker 4: him any you know what I mean. It was just
- 45:19Speaker 4: like God, like this is this is how it should
- 45:22Speaker 4: feel with us amongst our people. It shouldn't feel like
- 45:27Speaker 4: I gotta have a gun to go to this spot
- 45:29Speaker 4: because Bro might take my chain, or I gotta park
- 45:33Speaker 4: my car over here because you know, like, it didn't
- 45:36Speaker 4: feel like that now. One time, it just felt like love.
- 45:39Speaker 4: So it just really put me in a space bro
- 45:42Speaker 4: of like living and just letting life happen instead of
- 45:45Speaker 4: trying to make it happen.
- 45:46Speaker 9: How long was you there for?
- 45:47Speaker 4: Two weeks? Was there for two weeks? I was supposed
- 45:50Speaker 4: to go to Ghana the second week, and then I
- 45:54Speaker 4: just fell in love with the people in Nigeria. I
- 45:56Speaker 4: was like, Bro, I'm staying here. Fuck it here with
- 46:00Speaker 4: the people.
- 46:02Speaker 5: You said something. So is that what you found because.
- 46:05Speaker 8: You said this quote, you said that we buy things
- 46:08Speaker 8: here to showcase a part of ourselves that.
- 46:11Speaker 5: We never took time to find.
- 46:12Speaker 8: And so I'm wondering, is that what you found that
- 46:14Speaker 8: in a piece of saying like this is what life should.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Be, Bro? Like, I ain't really if you peak like
- 46:20Speaker 4: the last Like, since I got back, I ain't really
- 46:23Speaker 4: been wearing jewelry. I wear my watch, you know what
- 46:27Speaker 4: I'm saying. But it's like I don't really wear it
- 46:29Speaker 4: because over there it made me realize like, like, bro,
- 46:33Speaker 4: this shit don't make me a better rapper. It don't
- 46:36Speaker 4: make me a better person, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 46:40Speaker 4: it's just something to show people to get them to
- 46:42Speaker 4: pay attention to me. I could find another way to
- 46:44Speaker 4: do that. I'm creative enough to find another way to
- 46:47Speaker 4: do that. So It's like, I ain't about to just
- 46:49Speaker 4: feel like I got to just put on jurelry every
- 46:52Speaker 4: day to go do an interview or make people rock
- 46:54Speaker 4: with my music. You're either gonna rock with it or
- 46:56Speaker 4: you not. And I'm at peace with that. I'm not
- 47:00Speaker 4: trying to impress you.
- 47:01Speaker 9: No more liberating a feeling.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it is what it is, like, let life happen
- 47:07Speaker 4: however it's gonna happen. It's gonna happen.
- 47:09Speaker 9: And that was that was because of Nigeria.
- 47:12Speaker 4: Oh cousin Nigeria.
- 47:13Speaker 5: Bro.
- 47:14Speaker 4: The whole time, Like the first two days was rough.
- 47:18Speaker 4: Why because you can't really shower the way we shower
- 47:22Speaker 4: over here, because we can't drink they water so as
- 47:26Speaker 4: nice as a house that we was in, the shower
- 47:29Speaker 4: thing was still like a sprinkler. So it's like I'm
- 47:32Speaker 4: washing my body, but I can't really wash my face.
- 47:34Speaker 4: I'm washing my face with a bottle of water, brushing
- 47:37Speaker 4: my teeth with a bottle of water, you know. So
- 47:40Speaker 4: it was just like it was. It was a culture shot.
- 47:44Speaker 4: But it's like once you get used to it, you
- 47:46Speaker 4: get used to the heat, you ain't really tripping off
- 47:49Speaker 4: like clothes and what you gotta wear and like all
- 47:54Speaker 4: these different things. It's just like like it's people in
- 47:57Speaker 4: the club actually party, yeah, not a parties is Chris dance.
- 48:02Speaker 5: You didn't move around with any security? You know.
- 48:04Speaker 4: I had security. I had Top like here, Yeah, I'm
- 48:07Speaker 4: like like security of the world.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, you know what I'm saying.
- 48:12Speaker 4: We had cops.
- 48:13Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, Like.
- 48:14Speaker 4: I ain't want of them rappers to becoming on my
- 48:17Speaker 4: jeil every day. No security, yeah, ain't. I was running around.
- 48:25Speaker 4: I got my son out there. I got to get
- 48:27Speaker 4: back home. Yeah, I got to get back home.
- 48:29Speaker 9: Bro, that's a fact. That's how we was moving, man, everywhere.
- 48:35Speaker 8: They slept at the house yeah yeah, yeah, outside waiting
- 48:38Speaker 8: for us.
- 48:38Speaker 4: They was at the crib like serious.
- 48:41Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 48:41Speaker 5: I was like I thought that part got left out there.
- 48:44Speaker 4: I was like, wait, did you have Noah, I definitely did,
- 48:48Speaker 4: but safety first, no going over there like it showed
- 48:51Speaker 4: me and then like I shot the music video that
- 48:53Speaker 4: we just dropped Top g over there and even how
- 48:56Speaker 4: that happened.
- 48:56Speaker 9: Like I was in the project, bro, like one.
- 48:59Speaker 4: Of the worst hoods over there, it's called Legos Island.
- 49:02Speaker 9: How that happened?
- 49:04Speaker 4: Dog, I'm in the I'm in the crib. Now keep
- 49:11Speaker 4: in mind, I bring a studio over there. So my
- 49:14Speaker 4: crazy ass like I brought like a laptop with like
- 49:18Speaker 4: a mic and like a studio setup. So my ass
- 49:24Speaker 4: over there finding random people on the street that's singing, like, bro,
- 49:28Speaker 4: come to the crib, like get on the sprinter, like,
- 49:31Speaker 4: come to the crib. Like I'm to the point. My
- 49:34Speaker 4: homie eye was like, shit, you can't be you got
- 49:37Speaker 4: to kill yeah, like everybody coming over there. So I'm like,
- 49:42Speaker 4: I'm a chill So I'm bringing people to the crib, bro,
- 49:46Speaker 4: and they just recording like they recording, they recording, and
- 49:51Speaker 4: I'm like, damn, these dudes is talented his hell, Like
- 49:54Speaker 4: you know, they talented his hell. So the engineer who
- 49:58Speaker 4: I had engineering, I kept telling and I'm like, no,
- 50:01Speaker 4: we had got back the day we had got back
- 50:04Speaker 4: from taking the laptops to the school. We've got a
- 50:07Speaker 4: hundred laptops to the school. We went and did that.
- 50:10Speaker 4: I got back in my homie self, who was the
- 50:13Speaker 4: engineer that was engineering all the kids that was over there.
- 50:16Speaker 4: He was like, Bro, is this something you wanted to do?
- 50:19Speaker 4: Like before you get up out of here? Because I
- 50:21Speaker 4: was leaving in two days, and I was like, man,
- 50:24Speaker 4: I did want to shoot a video, but I couldn't
- 50:27Speaker 4: really get it how I wanted to get it. He
- 50:29Speaker 4: was like, what you wanted to look like. I was like, bro,
- 50:32Speaker 4: I want to show Nigeria, Like I don't want to
- 50:34Speaker 4: show the island, you know what I mean? Like we
- 50:38Speaker 4: could show that too, Like, let's show both sides. Let's
- 50:41Speaker 4: show the difference between the island and the mainland. So
- 50:44Speaker 4: if you watch the video, it's a conversation with me
- 50:47Speaker 4: and myself, like that's kind of like the island and
- 50:50Speaker 4: the mainland. So I'm starting off in the mansion right
- 50:54Speaker 4: where I'm in the crib. That's the island where the
- 50:56Speaker 4: cribs is nice and it's gold trimming on the towel
- 51:00Speaker 4: marble and everything.
- 51:02Speaker 9: Island.
- 51:03Speaker 4: Uh nah, it's Lego's island. So these were the big
- 51:07Speaker 4: cribs and everything. But then when you going to the
- 51:10Speaker 4: mainland's more poverty. So we're showing both sides of it.
- 51:14Speaker 4: So I'm like, I'm telling him that I want to
- 51:16Speaker 4: show that. He like, I got the perfect people for you.
- 51:20Speaker 4: So he called his production crew called Whack People, and
- 51:24Speaker 4: they come through and literally broke like two hours, like
- 51:29Speaker 4: just pull up to the crib. They're like, yeah, bro,
- 51:32Speaker 4: what you want to do. I'm like, man, I want
- 51:34Speaker 4: to shoot a video, but like I wanted to look clean.
- 51:37Speaker 4: I don't want it to look like we just had
- 51:39Speaker 4: a regular DSL OR camera and we just shot whatever.
- 51:42Speaker 4: And he was like, nah, I got you. You was like, uh,
- 51:45Speaker 4: it was like give me, give me a couple hours, right,
- 51:49Speaker 4: So he called back in like six hours. He was like,
- 51:52Speaker 4: when you want to shoot. I'm like, shit, we can
- 51:56Speaker 4: shoot now. You're like, I'm on the way. So they
- 52:00Speaker 4: pull up. Bro, they got all the equipment. We go
- 52:03Speaker 4: to this spot with my man Vector. That's his neighborhood
- 52:07Speaker 4: that he was at, so that whole community over there.
- 52:11Speaker 4: Vector take care of a lot of that community. He's
- 52:13Speaker 4: a big staple over there. He's like, what Kendrick Lamar
- 52:16Speaker 4: Is does. He's deck to them over there. So go
- 52:20Speaker 4: meet Vector. Tell him what I want to do. He's like,
- 52:23Speaker 4: come on, bro, take you through. We go through the neighborhood.
- 52:27Speaker 5: Earners, what's going on? Listen?
- 52:28Speaker 8: Eylu is relaunching, revamping, retooling. That's why we're creating a
- 52:33Speaker 8: new educational experience that's more expensive.
- 52:35Speaker 9: Shoty, tell what we got Yes twenty twenty three.

- 55:13Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 55:16Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 55:20Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 55:24Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 55:28Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 55:32Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the United States
- 55:36Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 55:41Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 55:44Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 55:48Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 55:52Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 55:56Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 55:59Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 56:08Speaker 1: border and families will be protected.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 56:13Speaker 4: We just filmed a video bro like all night and
- 56:17Speaker 4: we just chilling, like we're eating, like I'm taking the
- 56:20Speaker 4: herbal shots and everything. Yeah, they gel off every day.
- 56:27Speaker 4: But I was just over there, bro, just rocking with
- 56:30Speaker 4: the people. I had my son with me outside. Bro,
- 56:32Speaker 4: It's like twelve midnight. We just out there the neighborhood,
- 56:36Speaker 4: kicking in with the kids, and it was just love.
- 56:39Speaker 4: It was love. So it's definitely a something that's a
- 56:43Speaker 4: part of my life at this point. Because we actually
- 56:45Speaker 4: ended up signing Lucky. Yeah, so we got him a
- 56:50Speaker 4: spot over there. He has a studio over there now
- 56:53Speaker 4: because he was living in a straw house with seven
- 56:56Speaker 4: siblings his parents, don't you know, us fortunate. So we
- 57:02Speaker 4: actually you know, got him in a better situation and
- 57:04Speaker 4: he's making music. But the thing that impressed us about
- 57:07Speaker 4: Lucky the most was more than the music and everything.
- 57:10Speaker 4: He said the main thing he wanted in life was
- 57:13Speaker 4: to learn because he never really had the chance to
- 57:16Speaker 4: go to school. So we're helping him, you know, get
- 57:20Speaker 4: in school and learning. So more than just putting his
- 57:22Speaker 4: music out and like trying to turn him to a
- 57:26Speaker 4: rap store, it's like allowing him the ability to grow
- 57:29Speaker 4: up and have a dream for like a lot of
- 57:32Speaker 4: kids over there don't really get the time to dream,
- 57:35Speaker 4: you know, so that's something that we want to provide
- 57:37Speaker 4: for him.
- 57:38Speaker 5: So that's context. Man.
- 57:39Speaker 8: We talk about education reform here, but we missed the
- 57:44Speaker 8: part where it's like there's people who only have access
- 57:46Speaker 8: to education.
- 57:48Speaker 5: So that that's big.
- 57:48Speaker 8: I mean, when you were there in one of the
- 57:50Speaker 8: things we saw was the amount of youth. There's so
- 57:52Speaker 8: much youth. And so we always look at Africa as
- 57:55Speaker 8: a place, especially Nigeria, as a place of like tremendous resources.
- 57:59Speaker 8: Right imagine if you give or you help import education,
- 58:04Speaker 8: import mindset, import infrastructure and business, what does the country
- 58:08Speaker 8: look like? What does the concertent look like? Is that
- 58:11Speaker 8: something that you plan to do going forward? Continuocy going
- 58:14Speaker 8: to Africa, going to different countries.
- 58:15Speaker 4: And so me and Victor actually is working on a
- 58:19Speaker 4: project together and we actually are shooting a documentary that
- 58:24Speaker 4: we started over there, and it's called Bridge the Gap
- 58:28Speaker 4: and it speaks on and the documentary will be the
- 58:31Speaker 4: first documentary produced by my media company that I was
- 58:35Speaker 4: telling you guys about. But it goes into the difference
- 58:40Speaker 4: between and so does the project we're making with the
- 58:42Speaker 4: music to it. It goes into the difference between the
- 58:45Speaker 4: African and the African American and statistically a whole bunch
- 58:51Speaker 4: of different things that we cover and why we are
- 58:54Speaker 4: the way we are, and really kind of highlighting that too,
- 59:00Speaker 4: motivate people over here to stop looking at Africa as
- 59:04Speaker 4: a place with just kids with flies in they face
- 59:08Speaker 4: that like what America shows us over here, Like like
- 59:11Speaker 4: a lot of Americans think that a lot of Africans
- 59:15Speaker 4: don't rock with us over there. And I asked that
- 59:18Speaker 4: question over there, and that's not necessarily true. The media
- 59:22Speaker 4: paints that perception, so we look at them that way
- 59:26Speaker 4: and there's this combative spirit. But really, bro, our people
- 59:30Speaker 4: love us. They love us over there. So if we
- 59:33Speaker 4: took time to actually go over there and like, Okay,
- 59:36Speaker 4: let's build a school, let's build a gymnasium, let's build studios,
- 59:41Speaker 4: let's build Like I've seen three gas stations the whole
- 59:44Speaker 4: time I was there. Bro, Like, let's go build some
- 59:47Speaker 4: gas stations over there, you know what I mean? Like,
- 59:49Speaker 4: what's the process. Even if we can't figure out how
- 59:52Speaker 4: to do it, let's figure the process out so the
- 59:54Speaker 4: next generation can't. But I feel like that's something we
- 59:57Speaker 4: need to look forward to. Because on some real shit,
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: like America ain't doing too good right now, jump, you
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: know what I mean, And eventually we're gonna have to
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: go over there and to see what's going on with
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: our people. So it's important that we start somewhere. We
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: gotta start somewhere. But that's definitely something I'm interested in.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: It's you know, getting some things going over there and
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: bringing more people back over there so we could unify
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: over there.
- 1:00:25Speaker 9: You know. It's interesting.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: We we've been tapping in a lot with the continent,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: and we were in DC a while ago and we
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: were talking to some people from East Africa and one
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: of the women specifically, she was talking about the movie
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Black Panther.
- 1:00:40Speaker 9: Right, very insightful you from from the Bay Area.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: So like the Black Panther movie, especially that first one,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: it's a lot of hitting messages in that, you know.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: I mean, obviously the Black Panthers Black Panther Party is
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: starting in Oakland, but as far as like how she
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: described it to me was el She was like, you know,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: it's it's like a parent that has a child right
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: where the child might have been abducted and the parent
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: didn't really fight for the child.
- 1:01:06Speaker 9: So it's two parts to this.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: Now, the child starts to act out right, becomes more
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: sexually active, joins gangs. It's all out of like frustration
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: because they have an attachment to their biological parents but
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: they don't necessarily know them. But they've never really gotten
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: over that feeling of just being kicked out and left
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: alone and not like you never came back from me.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: And then the parents have some sort of a grief
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: and they kind of feel some sort of blame for
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: not going after the child. So it's trauma on both sides.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: And it's like the only way to really hell that
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: trauma is to be reconnected. And it was like kill
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: Monger in the movie, like he's a very rebellious person,
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: and it's like his story to me is like the
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: story of African Americans, right, and it's like I feel
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: like we've both been played against each other where it's
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: like we look at it, not everybody, but there's been
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: a campaign in the media to be like all these
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: Africans don't care about you, d D D DA, like
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: they sold you to slavery.
- 1:02:12Speaker 9: D Then the Africans it's like, well.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: They're slaves, like they they're nonsense, they they're always troublemakers
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: in America.
- 1:02:19Speaker 9: They always get in trouble, they're killing each other, they
- 1:02:21Speaker 9: doing all of.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: That right, But it's like there's reasons for both sides
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: why there's dysfunction, and now I think it's dope, And
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: especially with the music is now we're starting to bridge
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: that gap and we're realizing that there's more similarities than
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: and we have expertise that could be beneficial because we
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: went through a system in America that nobody has ever
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: gone and we survived it, and they have the resources.
- 1:02:44Speaker 9: So it's like, if we can if.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: We can let our expertise with their traditions and their resources,
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: now that's an unstoppable combination.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: It's very unstable. Would make us like the most dominique
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: placed on earth, you know what I mean. Like I'm
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: fully for it, bro Like I'm all for that's a
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: great that's a great analogy you just broke down to.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: I gotta rewatch the movie now from that perspect because
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: that's dope. You know what's crazy. Somebody told me over there.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: It was like it was like one of the main
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: reasons like we look at you guys with an eye
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: up is because you guys put your data in retirement homes,
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: and I said what you mean. They was like, you
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: guys put your grandparents and your mother's in retirement homes
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: when those are the people who have the information to
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: feed the children. How the kids supposed to learn when
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: you in the midst of living life and learning yourself,
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: those are the people that lived it. They're supposed to
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: pass that down. That's something we don't do that over here.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: And I never looked at it like that.
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: That was one of the conversations we had waycon as well,
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: and he was like, the wisdom of the eldest. Yea,
- 1:03:56Speaker 8: even at a level of successful quote unquote success that
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: he's had, he's still before he makes a decision, checks
- 1:04:02Speaker 8: in with his eldest because they have wisdom, even if
- 1:04:05Speaker 8: it's not in a business sense, they have wisdom of
- 1:04:07Speaker 8: life anything. That's one of the things that's missing that
- 1:04:11Speaker 8: when we talk about generational gaps, it's like, how do
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: we keep our elders as a part of the lineage
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: of information to a younger generation. Right, we talk about
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: the population being so young in Africa, but do they
- 1:04:23Speaker 8: know those traditions of tapping in with the elders, right,
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: Because there's a certain level of knowledge that they can
- 1:04:30Speaker 8: pass down right, and you add that knowledge to the creativity, innovation,
- 1:04:35Speaker 8: and the energy that the youth have and that becomes
- 1:04:38Speaker 8: an unsolveable force.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: But we got to realize it though.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: But I think that was done intentionally because it's African
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: tradition where elders are respected, and it's African tradition. Like
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: I went to the Louver in Paris, which is like
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: the most well respected museum of all time, and it
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: was interesting to me because I was looking at the Egyptian.
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: You can spend a whole day in the Egyptian. It's
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: crazy how much artifacts they actually stole from Africa.
- 1:05:03Speaker 9: But that's a different story.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: The thing that I noticed from African art and African
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: artifacts as opposed to the European art and the European
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: artifacts is that most of the African arts had men
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: and women together. The Europeans was just like just men,
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, or a woman. So it's
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: like the family structure that's always been part of African
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: tradition and elders. So it's like even the Willie Lynch,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: like this is a manuscript of how to make a slave.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: One of the things is play old versus young, play
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: men versus women.
- 1:05:37Speaker 9: We see the same thing happening. We see like even
- 1:05:40Speaker 9: now to this day.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: You see social media everybody debating about relationships and should
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: you pay for a date? It's just men and women
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: going back and forth. And then it's like the number
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: one thing that hip hop has done over the last.
- 1:05:53Speaker 9: Decade is yo, you old, rapper? Like you old?
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: I hate when people do that. It's well, everything we
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: talk about is pros and cons right, and it's ways
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: that we fix that because I hate when people say
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: the old rapper, or you washed up, or is this
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: and that right? Because what we're really doing is we
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: tearing down our elders.
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: That can help open up more doors and more lanes
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: for us to have more platforms to create more revenue.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: The problem with that is a lot of our elders
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: be still trying to rap like us. It's like nigga
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: rap like the adult you is. Some of these rappers
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: still be forty seven talking about they got bitches in
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: the club and still driving Bentley's Nigga. You married with
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: three kids and got businesses.
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: But there's part that goes with that, right, and you
- 1:06:44Speaker 8: come from this this generation was like, we never saw
- 1:06:46Speaker 8: our artists grow old.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: We never we never got I was about to get
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: into that hip hop is relatively fifty year of it, right,
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: So at anything with age, you get wiser. So as
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: we he continue to grow as a culture, I think
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: the labels as the old rapper or washed up or
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: all those things will continue to go away because the
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: dude who's twenty five now is gonna be thirty in
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: five years and his life is going to be different.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: So he'll understand the person he was dishing five years
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: ago because he'll be in that business playing that role
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: at that person he was dis and just left.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: And you can have mental Like Kara said something that
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: I was extremely insightful. He was like, all people have
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: wisdom that young.
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: People don't have one thousand percent.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Young people have energy and information that older people don't have.
- 1:07:35Speaker 9: They need each other.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: The information and the youthfulness is not the most beneficial
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: if you don't have wisdom, but the wisdom is not
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: even really that beneficial if you don't have new ideas.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: So it's like both have to respect each other, like
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: old people have to respect young people and young people
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: have to respect old people. And that's how you really
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: and like you said, now with hip hop you have
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: mentors like you have Buster Robs, you have jay Z
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: have but not it's like we didn't have they that
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: wasn't there before. Right now elder statesmen who have been respected.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Who's not like you know homeless, Like these are people
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: that got money that you know, people respect. That's our
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: culture still respects, right, like we should watch look like
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: that's still something that's But now it's like as a
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: young rapper, I can sit down with X, Y and Z,
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: get information, give game, and now I'll be better suited
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: as opposed to just trying to wing it.
- 1:08:27Speaker 8: But this is new, like even this is this is new, right,
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: Like I grew up listening to the Big Daddy can
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: carry us one. After a while, they couldn't even do
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: a show because nobody was interested. Like now like they're
- 1:08:38Speaker 8: still doing they're on tour now. It's the only genre
- 1:08:41Speaker 8: you think about it inside of music where it's like
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: our artists couldn't get on right because even like think
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: about Jay, right, Jay's fifty three years old, that love
- 1:08:49Speaker 8: was fifty five.
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: They looked at differently.
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: Right, they're not too far apart, but they ll never
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: there was never a space where it was like, yo,
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: this could be the Rollerstones or you guys can even
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: in R and B we see it like now where
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: Anita Baker, She's still torn.
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: So like this is a brand.
- 1:09:05Speaker 8: New genre of letting our artists age, letting them let
- 1:09:08Speaker 8: the mature, letting them go through life experience and explaining
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: what that is. I think, like you said, the issue
- 1:09:13Speaker 8: is that at forty six, like I'm in I'm forty one,
- 1:09:16Speaker 8: Like I want to hear about what life is at
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: this point because at this and Noah said it right,
- 1:09:21Speaker 8: I've been I've been wealthy a lot longer than I've
- 1:09:23Speaker 8: been broke, which is true. I watched you at twenty
- 1:09:25Speaker 8: when when you drop thematic, you're about to be fifty
- 1:09:28Speaker 8: fifty now like it's thirty years a well.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: It's talking about and now it's changed. It's changed exactly.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: So it's like we're watching Nas, We're watching Jay, We're
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: watching certain people do it. Like I'm saying, I think
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: the problem is because hip hop is rooted in youthful culture.
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of elder statesmen feel like
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: they have to stay young and that's not relatively the
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: case anymore. We need y'all to grow up, to set
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: an example, to give us the wisdom on what not
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: to do on hotder, Like we don't want to go
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: broke when we get youall age right rap about how
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: we don't do that exactly, y'all don't tell us that.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: Y'all tell us keep going, so you keep keep your
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: foot on their neck, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: and then you d M and my producer trying to
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: get a beat and all it's like that sounds you
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: feel me? No, Like, don't do that. Continue to be
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: who you were, but just innovate your thing.
- 1:10:19Speaker 8: So when you're creating, because I think you're in the
- 1:10:22Speaker 8: part and Cold had it. I think he said the
- 1:10:24Speaker 8: best when he made the song Middle Child.
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: Yeah, like he really is in the general.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: You know what's crazy?
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: What's that process? Like?
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: It was kindmatic Cold for making that song.
- 1:10:33Speaker 9: You wanted to do it.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: I want to make that, bro, because that's really who
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: I am. Bro. He is too, he is too. But
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: when I heard it, I said, it's like it's it's
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: like him. He he just thinks ship. I think like
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: a lot of should I feel and think like I'll
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: be like I'm gonna do this and then here just
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: this motherfucker. I love Cold though shout out the cold.
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: What you're saying when you're trying to create as a
- 1:11:03Speaker 8: middle child and knowing that the dynamics, like, how does
- 1:11:06Speaker 8: that affect your process?
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: So what's crazy is Africa changed it before Africa was
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: hit chasing. So that's why you will see certain elements
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: of what people love for me not match the music
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: for the longest. Like I just kind of figured that
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: out where results take time. So like Sacrifices, that's a
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: simber record people love that never end up broke overnight.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: On God.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: Lessons pop out things like that, right, But when you're
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: in the business, you would attempt new things, you know
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: what I mean. Coca Cola gonna try to sell you
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: some cherry coke now really eat buy it or not?
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, It's up to you. Up
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: Street Nigga and Soul Tizes. Those are good records to me,
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: but to the audience who's here from me right now,
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: they don't necessarily want to hear that. But I've chased
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: other audience that I feel may be a broader streaming
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: audience or a radio audience, and those different things so
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: I feel like that's confused my process until I went
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: to Africa and I really just sat with myself, like,
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: you know what, it's an honor in life for people
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: to even want something from you, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: Like just to even like, no, people wake up and
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: want to hear me rap? Why would I not give
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: them that every day? Why would I not just rap
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: for what people want to hear me do? So my
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: latest music that I'm getting ready to put out, my
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: new project is called Don't Call Me Now coming soon,
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: but it's rap based. It's what you see on Instagram
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: and what you see in the radio freestyles in song
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: for man, you know, and it's taking me time to
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: figure out how to do that, like the Ja Morant thing,
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: that's the freestyle in a song for Matt. But it's
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: it takes time, you know what I mean. I don't
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: have I didn't come up like how some of these
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: rappers came up with a producer and a song choreographer
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: and people to structure they records. I've learned this shit
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: on my own, on the fly for the last fifteen
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: years of my life. So I'm not going to always
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: get the production right. I'm not going to always get
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: the hook right, but I'll learn from my mistakes. The
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: next time I will.
- 1:13:35Speaker 9: Jam Morant talk about that.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: That's an interesting if the story is an interesting story period. Yeah,
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: very unfortunate situation, but you took a different approach. I
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: feel like you wasn't extremely.
- 1:13:48Speaker 9: Hard on him. Yeah, but you wasn't soft on him either.
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: Walking through that process.
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: Africa, Africa bro understanding who I Yeah, Bro, I'm an incubator.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: I'm somebody that can help the older people understand the
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: young people and the young people understand the old people.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: You feel me. So anything in our culture that goes
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: on that needs to be addressed, I'm the person to
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: say something. That's who I am. That's my identity in
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: the game. So the first time Joall did it, it
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: was like I was on tour. I'm like, come on, Joe,
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: what the fuck you? But I'm like this, obviously he
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: legged drunk, you know what I'm saying, Like yeah, But
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: then you do it the second time, you bugging right.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: So now it's like, Okay, you got people who don't
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: understand our culture, right, who don't understand what it's like
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: having millions of dollars who don't understand what it's like
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: trying to bring people out the hood that come from
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: that culture, and they're around you, and certain things find
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: you just based off who you located next to, and
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: they all got something to say, he's a thug, he's this,
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: he's but y'all ain't never had to live that life,
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying. And then you got people
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: that's saying, oh, why is it wrong for him to
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: carry a gun? And motherfucker, because he's a fucking two
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: hundred million dollar man, that's a public face for the NBA.
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: He's a role model. So for me, it was more
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: so about getting everybody to understand the two right, and
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: even within that, understanding the role we as musicians playing
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: this shit because it's like, we'll let rappers do that
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: shit and it's cool all day. But because he got
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: two hundred million dollars and he played for the NBA,
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: we gonna look at him like a thug but a
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: rappers cool. Like, it's too much hypocrisy in it, you
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: know what I mean. So if we're gonna talk about it,
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: we got to talk about the role we play in it.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: We make songs about killing niggas and shoot niggas. And
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: I'm not saying we shouldn't, because that's certain people's lives
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: and their stories and what they've seen and what they've
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: been through. But we all ain't got a fall victim
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: to that, you know what I mean? And I'm address
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: it every time I can and let people know, Like,
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: look at me, Bro, I ain't never killed the nigga
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: in my life, you know what I'm saying, Like I
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: ain't never shot a gun outside of a shooting range.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: It's like, I don't need to, and all black people
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: ain't got to, Like we all ain't got to be
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: that way, and we not. But that's how mainstream media
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: want to portray us. So when joshuaw a gun, it's
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: easy for them to go from two hundred million dollar
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: NBA player to a thug. It's like, nah, bro, hold on,
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: check this out for a minute. Understand where he coming from.
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: It's pressure on bro, I said. In fact, there's a
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: lot of pressure. I'm going back to that bar.
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: As you said, Man, it's a prilipicion honor for people
- 1:16:41Speaker 8: to want something for you every day, and the drama
- 1:16:45Speaker 8: rant is a great example of it.
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: Like when you still in those freestyles.
- 1:16:52Speaker 8: I remember the first time I heard that La Leaka
- 1:16:54Speaker 8: street style and I was like, oh my god, like
- 1:16:58Speaker 8: heard you, I heard this thing?
- 1:16:59Speaker 5: Did another on my did you hear this?
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: You hear this?
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: Can I put it in the request?
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:17:03Speaker 8: Because when I heard that La Leaks freestyle, it made
- 1:17:05Speaker 8: me think back to being Segul. It's one of my
- 1:17:07Speaker 8: favorite rappers. Okay, shout out to Shinty. Yeah yeah, my birthday,
- 1:17:11Speaker 8: my forty birthday. It was a moment, but it made
- 1:17:14Speaker 8: me think back A thousand bars okay at some point, Okay,
- 1:17:19Speaker 8: can we get at a thousand bars a lot?
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: That's that's a lot.
- 1:17:24Speaker 9: It's a lot of bars. Say twenty minutes.
- 1:17:26Speaker 8: He did, well, it was like a ten minute him
- 1:17:29Speaker 8: and him and Bleak they did And I heard it before, right, Yeah,
- 1:17:32Speaker 8: I know, I know because you comfort, I know, you study.
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: It's not it's one of them things where it's a
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: free fall where you just let it all out, you
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: know what I mean. But I'm at this space where
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: it's like, bro, I say so much in my reps,
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: like the way I write, I think a thousand bars
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: for me would sound like a fucking dictionary biology class
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: that people don't want to sit through cannabis. Yeah, because
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: I'm very passionate about the ship I say. I hate
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: just saying ship to say it like I have a
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: hard time making songs about nothing. You know, people could
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: just go in there and be like million dollars on
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: my wrist, bad ass bitch, she gonna suck my dicks
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: when there's an empty my clip. I'm with the ship.
- 1:18:14Speaker 9: I said, hit record right there, yo, but.
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: It's like, what the fuck did I say? A whole
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: lot of records like that. I like that, but it's like,
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: what did I just say? It's like what I just say,
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: And that's no offense to people who make music like that.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: It's just for me that ship don't sit right with
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: my soul for what I like to listen to them,
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: for what I like to make, you know what I mean.
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: I feel like when I'm getting on them, I gotta
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: say something because one day, bro, I'm gonna be gone
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: and I ain't gonna be here. You know what I mean.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: What people gonna have left is my words and my music.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: So I wanted to mean something. I don't want it
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: to just be some ship I put together.
- 1:18:51Speaker 5: So we don't please.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: We met, you met your brothers. Interesting story. Yeah, tell
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: us that manage your family business. But y'all just recently met. Yeah,
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: that's an interesting story.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: Yeah. So my dad bro, you know street cat, you know,
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: doing this thing, and he handed up in prison when
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: I was young, when we both was young. But my
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: brother he kind of was more so like my dad.
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: He was more in the streets and shit. And my
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: mom she kind of when I was younger, my mom
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: kind of like segregated me from like the streets, like
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: just totally moved me from that life. Because my mom
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: was in the streets and when I was young, she
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: just kind of moved me from it. So I naturally
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: just like was always into the arts and different things.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: So we never really crossed paths or whatever, even though
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: we was probably around each other a lot, but didn't
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: have the same interest in life to even have a
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: conversation or nothing like that. So my dad passed years ago,
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: and I remember meeting him when I was younger, and
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: I used to always be like, man, I got a
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: brother somewhere, my brother somewhere, and and I started doing
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: music and one day my uncle street Life he hit me.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: He was like, man, you got a brother, bro, Like
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: he just came home, like you should get in touch
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: with me, a cool dude. And then it's like I
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: just had the freestyle come out Lebron post me. So
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: I'm like, here they go with this shit, Here come
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: this shit, right. So I'm telling my mom and shit,
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: like I'm telling my mom like she's like, nah, you do,
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: She's like, ya, remember you met him. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: I do. But I'm like I don't really know. So
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: we end up talking on Instagram and then we would,
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: you know, talk here and there, back and forth. And
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: then one day I was in Philly drunk as hell.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: You know them nights when like you be out late
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: drinking and you go to sleep at like five in
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: the morning and he wake up at seven thirty still
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: licks like can't go back to sleep. It was one
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: of them days. So I end up calling and we
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: was just on the phone for like four hours, and shit,
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: ever since then, we've just been rocking. Ever since then, Doug,
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: we've just been traveling the world and rapping and.
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: Trapping and trapping.
- 1:21:15Speaker 9: How's that bench?
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: Just you know, because it's once again going back to
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: that story where it's like long lost people that's being reunited,
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: like obviously a lot of time was lost, But how's
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: that like been as far as just like connecting with
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: somebody that you never really had a relationship with.
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: I feel like it worked out better as we got
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: older because I was so one track minded when I
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: was younger, and for what he was involved in, I
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: would have been like, I ain't going around that nigga.
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: Other would have just totally separated myself and been closed off.
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: With me being older and him being older and having
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: an understanding of certain things he been through and me
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: having a certain understanding of things I've been through, we
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: was able to have a conversation and that we related
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: to each other through through different scenarios. So it's things
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: he been through in the streets that I've been through music,
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: you know what I mean. We could relate through it
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: through communication. But if we never would have been able
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: to live life to experience them things what we have
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: to talk about, you know. So I feel like it
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: kind of worked out as we got older than it
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: did younger, you know what I mean. But I got
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: like siblings and shit that we was cooler when we
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: was younger, and I don't even talk to they As
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: I got a younger brother, I got an older sister.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: I got another sister in Texas and another sister in Atlanta.
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: And I think I got another brother, but I'm not
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: one hundred percent.
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: After the new album, we have four.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:55Speaker 8: Yeah, Perhaps it's interesting because you talk about man J
- 1:22:59Speaker 8: and we talked about new music on the way. I
- 1:23:01Speaker 8: wonder what you define as success because you don't take
- 1:23:04Speaker 8: me as a guy that's like, hey, I got this
- 1:23:06Speaker 8: many streams or I sold this many records. So how
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: do you quantify success for your music?
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: Achieving a goal? Just like whatever my goal was for it?
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: Like last year. Last year, my goal was to put
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: out a project and find where my fans were. That
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: was literally my definition of success for twenty twenty two.
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: Bright ended up on Jimmy Kimmel the breakfast club funk
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: Master Flex. I didn't imagine none of it. I thought
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: that was gonna happen two three years later, you know
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: what I mean. So for me, it's just like achieving
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: a goal, like right now, like I want to make
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: five million.
- 1:23:56Speaker 9: Dollars, Like that's my goal by any means necessary.
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: That's my year. Like this year, I wanted to just
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: like have five million dollars tucked like, all right, that's
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: over there, Like that's my new goal. And then I'm
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: pretty sure when I do that, I'm gonna want one
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: hundred million, you know what I mean. So it changes,
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: it changes every day, but it's like that's my new goal.
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: Like that's what's gonna make me feel successful. Is the
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: day that I know I got five million tucked right now?
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: So you got the NBA Playoffs, Yeah, getting your jersey
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: from Kevin Durant.
- 1:24:35Speaker 9: Yeah, but it was a partnership with the NBA ESPN.
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: ESPN was deal with that, so basically we were able
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: to make the music for the commercials. So something I've
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: realized is my music does better on other platforms and
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: on streaming suits because the people who listen to my music,
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: what I've realized is they have a tough time navigating
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: through the internet. So I don't have a lot of
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: like young kids that listen to me. They will in
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: the next two to three years as they grow up,
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: you know, and experienced life more, but it's hard for
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: them to navigate through the internet. For who listens to
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: me currently, So I found ways to find platforms that
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: they like to live on, like the NBA or the NFL,
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: or video games, you leisure, video games, Joe Budden's podcasts,
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: different platforms that I know my demographic pays attention to
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: because they're a very inquisitive demographic. So I have to
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: go to those platforms. And the NBA was one of them.
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: So they noticed that I just be at a lot
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: of games. I'm just a big Hoop fan because I
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: played Hoop. I feel like a lot of Hoopers relate
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: to my music because I tell a lot of stories
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: that Hoopers go through. So I've you know, cool with
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: Draymond Green, cool with Kevin Durant, cool Lebron James. And
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: they could see that. So I was making music for
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: Madden last year in two K and when I did
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: the Warriors halftime show in December for the Celtics, they
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: was like, Yo, we want to kind of figure something
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: out for ESPN, like a song or something for the playoffs.
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: And it was like, let's do it. So we had
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: a conversation about us, you know, making music for the commercial.
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: So they sent us a bunch of clips and stuff
- 1:26:26Speaker 4: to watch and me, Raven and my boy Jada Great,
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: we just sat in there and we came up with
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: a bunch of ideas and next thing we know, like
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: they was all over espn FO. Yeah.
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: So you're a Warriors guy. Oh man, let's just put
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: us out there.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: Yes, okay, I am a Golden State Warrior, but Simba
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: is a Golden No, Simba is a Los Angeles Warrior son.
- 1:27:02Speaker 9: Los Angeles Warriors son. So you you're a Lakers fan.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: Lakers are clipping Lakers, Lakers, Warriors and the Suns West
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: You just West Coast.
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: I mean, I'm fans of players, so that's my thing.
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: You got three teams in the same division.
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: I've never I've never supported institutions. I only support individuals.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: So I'm stealing that.
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: I'm telling you right here, it's an easy time.
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: I'm stealing that.
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: You can't steal because it's.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: No bro, that's me. I've never been a fan of it,
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: like no offense. I've never been a fan of the Lakers.
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: I was a fan of the Lakers so long because
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: they had Kobe Bryant. You a fan of Kobe and
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: I was a fan of Kobe. That was my fair
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: It's my favorite player.
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: Ever.
- 1:27:43Speaker 4: I was a fan of the Lakers when they got Palgasol.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: I was a fan of Lakers when Lebron came, you
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: know what I mean. So in that gap between them,
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: I went back to my that's the fact that my
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: Warriors start turning up because I was with the Warriors.
- 1:27:59Speaker 8: As a guy who likes the front running team, right
- 1:28:01Speaker 8: because no, why, that's why. Here's why Kobe's winning championships.
- 1:28:07Speaker 8: I'm with them, Warriors winning championships.
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: I'm with them.
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: But I was with Kobe when he wasn't winning championship exactly.
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: That was like in the nineties, bro Kobe took Brandy
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: to the prom. Where do we talk?
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: That's a fact.
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: That's a fact, my idol dog. I wanted to take
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: Brandy to the prom so bad. I wasn't old enough
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: to go to no prom. But Kobe did.
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: He did.
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: He definitely did that. He definitely did that and won
- 1:28:31Speaker 8: three years after that, four years after that.
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: Yeah. So and then Shaq left. And you say we
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: had a rough few years.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: I like that. You said we we had a rough
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: few years.
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: But in a rough few years, I was going to
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: them we believe games, watching my dog, Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson,
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: Matt Barnes. I was watching the Donald Foyle and them boys.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: I was, I was, I was dad.
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: I respect that that's different than what he's going to say.
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: That's my it is different. You're gonna tell me Lebron
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: that you listen.
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: I have three players that I've supported over the last
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: twenty five years of basketball. You gotta really I played
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: basketball every single day of my life for twenty years.
- 1:29:11Speaker 9: I'm like basketball, it was my life. Latreull's Spreewall was my.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: First guy on Golden State actually, and then when he
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: got to the Knicks as well, Alan Iverson when he
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: got into the league.
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: That's new Latrell and the nexs he was with.
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: Not as much as Golden State. But I always was
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: a Latrun's seedball fan. That's why I wore fifteen. I'm saying, like,
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: this is different. I remember with La Treil's people fan.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: But I'm gonna tell you the entire star lineup.
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: That he was with. But I was watching them play
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: Gollary Fish and you you was in Golden State with it?
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: You got me, you gonna go.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: I wore fifteen because of spre ball. He never won
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: a championship in Golden State. It's a great player, Alan Iverson,
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: great player. I wasn't Alan Iverson. Ai fantasis.
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: You're not six You weren't a Sixers fan.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: I was a Sixers fan. So I was moving for
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: the Sixes because here and then, when Lebron gets into
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: the leagu then what it was Lebron?
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: Then you're not rocking with the Sixes no more.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: He was off the he was out of the Sixes.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: I think it wasn't he came in two thousand and three.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: Bron came in two thousand and three. Well, y'all, I
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: had just won a m v P when Lebron came in.
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: My alliances Lebron.
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: There's no loyalty, no loyalty.
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: He still rock with his guy.
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: I've been with Lebron for twenty years, y'all. I was
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: still playing bro.
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: But that don't mean you can't like somebody.
- 1:30:24Speaker 9: Was it changes?
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: No loyalty, No, I'm change. That's not saying because you
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: like the Russell you can't like Simba.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: I like both of y'all.
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: Okay, So there's no loyalty.
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: No, it's not what you just said. This is the
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: team sport. That's individual Nope, that's team sport.
- 1:30:38Speaker 8: No, no, no no, Because if he tides to go
- 1:30:40Speaker 8: at you, you're gonna go back at him, and it's
- 1:30:41Speaker 8: gonna be an individual thing is if.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: The Lakers go with the Warriors, they're gonna go back
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: at each other.
- 1:30:46Speaker 9: Way swim for playing switch teams, Bro, most players don't
- 1:30:48Speaker 9: the same.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: That's my brother. By the way, I'm just using that.
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: It's loyalty.
- 1:30:51Speaker 8: Right when I found out about the game of basketball
- 1:30:57Speaker 8: the eighties, the Bulls is my team to day.
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: I don't care the Bulls of my team. Yeah, but
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: downs we ain't win since ninety I get it.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: So just because you're loyal to a Fox, don't mean
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: there's no loyal I said, that's not loyal you just
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: like my homie Kirk, he's a Dallas Cowboys fan. Every
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: year they're going to the Super Bowl every year. Bro,
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: you're just loyal to a fault.
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: I'm realistic though my loyalty. I know, like this is
- 1:31:24Speaker 8: not a championship team every Like when we got Derrick Rose,
- 1:31:27Speaker 8: I'm like, I'm Lloyd got a chance to go to
- 1:31:30Speaker 8: State Warriors.
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: Because of Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, Michael Petrice Baron, Davis,
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: Matt Barnes, Stephen Jackson. What was my boy Jason Richardson what.
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: I'm loyal to the Lakers because of Lebron James, Kobe Bryant,
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: and Magic Johnson. Even though I was too young for
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: Magic Johnson, I watched his highlights. Okay, I'm loyal to
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: the Phoenix Suns only because of their fan base and
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: Kevin Durant.
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: See it, So before Kevin, you weren't walking with them.
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: Not until Kevin Durant. Because I'm lord of Kevin Durant, Brooklyn.
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: That's my guy wherever he goes, and I'm gonna be
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: at the game.
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: Speaking of basketball, got you. You made a comment that
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: you recently recanted. You said you was educated, you received
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: education on it with Michael Jordan.
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: I was going to save this apology. I was gonna
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: save this apology for Gilbert Arena show, for fuck it, Michael,
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: Michael Jeffrey Jordans aka the Black Cat, ak a Black
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: Jesus Jesus aka the number one shoot ever. I apologize.
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: I apologize. You are the greatest basketball player of all time,
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: of all time. If there's ever a goat, even though
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: I said no one's the goat, We're all the goat.
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: If there's ever a goat, it's because of you. I'm sorry.
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: I apologize. You are the greatest of all time.
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: Uh and as a life long Chicago fan, I stand
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: by that statement.
- 1:33:12Speaker 9: Michael is definitely eas a go. He's he's a goal
- 1:33:16Speaker 9: for sure. Start with the A he had his moment.
- 1:33:19Speaker 9: He's definitely a goal.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: He's a he said the and you're saying it's two
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: different things.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: I got schooled. I got schooled when the education happened.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: Like what they were like, give you statistics, they were
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: showing you game feel like, Bro, they do.
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: Study with him.
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: I'm gonna tell you who it was. I didn't even
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: tell nobody who gave me the Listen, I'm gonna see
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: it right here. It was Katie.
- 1:33:40Speaker 9: Katie.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: Katie gave you a lesson, Bro, What better person?
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: I went to k So let me that. I went
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: to Kd's house after Game four right in Phoenix. Yes, Bro,
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: he literally put me through Michael Jordan's school, literally like
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: from the beginning, dog Like, Bro, how could you can't
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: never say that again? You gotta understand they wouldn't even
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: pick guards in the top five of players before Mike.
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: It was a big man's league. People like Great Hill
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: and all these people start gett drafted like.
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: He's just going.
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: There's no stopping pop, there's no fade away. You gotta
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: understand I'm able to dribble the way I dribble across
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: people over because Mike went to the front office to
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: sit people can't keep playing this aggressive that he was
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: just on me, And I'm like, damn, I didn't know
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: all of that. And the part that got me was
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: when he told me he won MVP Defensive Player of
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: the Year, Yes, and All Team NB eight in the
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: same season.
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: I believe the year was eighty eight.
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: I said, dog, I am foul. I am foul, and
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: I apologized, but I did not understand it. I felt
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: like Mike was first because he was like doing things first.
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: It made him look a lot better than he was.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: But when Kevin broke it down and showed me the
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: stats and showed me everything he created, the way people
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: finish around the basket, the way Kyrie finished, just certain things,
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: the crossover Kobe had just Jimmy Butler's crossed, so like
- 1:35:20Speaker 4: he just broke it down. Yeah, he broke it down.
- 1:35:23Speaker 8: Ray Allen just had a similar argument. He broke it Jordan,
- 1:35:27Speaker 8: I mean, you take the you're just gonna stick with
- 1:35:29Speaker 8: the A I'm loyal. I mean, he broke it down
- 1:35:34Speaker 8: so cold up something. But like I said, Michael, he's
- 1:35:38Speaker 8: he's definitely, he's an icon.
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: He showed me some game where like like Mike was
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: just having a bad game where it was looking like
- 1:35:45Speaker 4: he didn't even want to play, and then some dude
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: said something in the fourth quarter like.
- 1:35:50Speaker 9: I was just watching that.
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like you off the night Champ or something,
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: and he just came out and dropped twenty three and
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: won the game.
- 1:35:56Speaker 9: We just watching that actually today, Big, I was just
- 1:35:58Speaker 9: watching it.
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: K He showed me that that, Bro. I was yeah,
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Mike, I'm sorry.
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: Before we leave, we got to talk about this artificial intelligence. Yeah,
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: this is something that is very controversial. Timberland.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: You heard his talk with Big, Yeah, like it it
- 1:36:15Speaker 4: was okay.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought it was okay too. Drake songs hard hard,
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: so hard. So a lot of peoples going back and
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: forth with this. Some people like it, some people don't
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: like it. What's your thoughts on this?
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: I like it.
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: Like I said earlier, Bro, I'm a fan of innovation,
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: so I understand that it's you know, hasn't been regulated yet,
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: even though I'm reading things about it becoming that. I
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: see Universal just did a deal with an AI company.
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: I think Warner is getting ready to do some things
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: with an AI company, and pretty sure Sony is too.
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: But I think it's great. I think people are scared
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: of it because I think it replaces us in a
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: lot of ways. But at the same time, it helps
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: us in a lot of ways. And it's nothing like
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: one thing about humans, bro, It's nothing like human and
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: human interaction, you know what I mean. So no matter
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: how much the AI can duplicate our emotions and all
- 1:37:12Speaker 4: these different things, it ain't lived our life and they
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: can't tell our story like we can, you know what
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: I mean. So it might be able to say things
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: we've been a part of a lot faster, a lot
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: more efficient. But let's use it as a tool. Let's
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: use it as a tool to make us more faster
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: and efficient rather than looking at it, looking at it
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: as something that's gonna take our jobs or whatever it
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: may be. But I think it's dope, bro. I can't
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: wait to hear the joint Biggie and Tupac mixtape like
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: I can't wait to hear Kendrick and Drake album.
- 1:37:45Speaker 9: Would you do a song with?
- 1:37:47Speaker 8: Like?
- 1:37:47Speaker 9: Would you do a song with Tupac on the aio?
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: I got a jay Z feature at the crib?
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: Do you.
- 1:37:54Speaker 4: Me and pop got?
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: That's what I'm talking about one way or another?
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:38:05Speaker 9: Is that?
- 1:38:05Speaker 4: Like?
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: And I know you love Jay?
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: We have a mutual Yeah, it's my favorite ever? Bro?
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: Is that is that the dream you like? We have
- 1:38:12Speaker 5: to do in real life?
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: Drake Future and Drake I mean J Future and Drake
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: those are my three and j Cole Kendrick would be
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: my fifth.
- 1:38:21Speaker 9: I told you you remember the conversation I had with
- 1:38:24Speaker 9: you about that song.
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: Yeah, those are like my favor My number one would
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: be Whole for sure, because, like I always say, he
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: the reason.
- 1:38:32Speaker 5: I rap, like like whole he tapped in.
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: No but uh, Lenny's my guy. Earl is my guy?
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: Who else?
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: Are?
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: Guru? Shows me a lot of support, a lot of
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: a lot of But I haven't physically talked to him
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: or met him in person, but he's literally the reason
- 1:38:59Speaker 4: I rap, bro Like he was the one that made
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: me be like, oh okay, I ain't gotta just you know,
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: rap about shooting them upucker, you know what I mean?
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: Selling drugs and all this, even though Hove talked about it,
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: he talked about the thugs that come with it. Hopefully
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: you don't have to go through that. He wasn't just
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: like I'm on the corner selling drugs. Just the greatest
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: life ever, you know what I'm saying. Like he was
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: really telling you, like nigga, change is cool to cop
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: the most important, you know what I'm saying, front, the
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: place where it's the shakiest. But he said, niggas don't
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: come around along because they eighthyst pray to God so
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: long that the eighthyist front the other side where other
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: guys don't talk too much, and the dudes ran up.
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: Let's say, the girls ran down the tomp and so
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: them dudes to trust. I don't know what the fuck
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: they thought. Niggas just like us. I'm from where the
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: beef is inevitable, half price for the new. You know
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: what I'm saying. That ship, that ship, if you ain't living,
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: that ship made me be like, damn, I could rap
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: about what's going on around me. I ain't necessarily got
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: to be like doing it, you know. And that's really
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: where I got my staff from. How many classics as
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: you have I think the only jay Z album that's
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: not a classic is Kingdom Come in Blueprint three.
- 1:40:26Speaker 9: Okay, everyone else is a classic.
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: And I could be biased, obviously I could be. But
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: to me, they're all classics because they're all revelations of
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: where he was at life in life at that moment,
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: and they are great bodies of work, and they're all
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: things we could go back to. Like I could go
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: to Magna Carter right now and learn some ship. I
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: can go to four four four right now, and it's
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: some ship. I was just going through with my being,
- 1:40:54Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, And I was telling her like,
- 1:40:57Speaker 4: it's the same ship. I could go to Blueprint one,
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: Blue blue Print to Blueprint two point five Black album,
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: uh one, Get Value one, Like it's They're all classics
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: in their own way.
- 1:41:09Speaker 9: So shout out the whole.
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the goat of all times.
- 1:41:14Speaker 9: Shout out the whole.
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: The goat for sure, we said the goat you can
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: call the hold is definitely the Michael Jordan's right.
- 1:41:24Speaker 9: They stay.
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: Like I said, it's loyalty. Speaking of loyalty, So this
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: is the last story I'll talk about hip hop. I'm
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: so loyal. That's why I'm surprised you say I'm not loyal.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: I'm probably the most loyal person ever. NOAs my son's
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: name is not said so obviously like Nas, that's my
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: favorite ever. So it was tough times for for for
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: Nas when takeover came out, right, he was a big
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: nos and huge nos.
- 1:41:48Speaker 9: Still a takeover came.
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: He called me this call me on my on my
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: mother's house phone, right like, yo, yo, your man is done.
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: Oh don't tell the story like what you're talking. Tell
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: the story like that.
- 1:42:03Speaker 9: Yo. You heard you heard the takeover joint. I'm like
- 1:42:05Speaker 9: what you're talking about right now?
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: Bro?
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: He played me take over over the phone. I listened
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: to it. That's how loyal I am. I said, yes,
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: it is wack.
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: That part of that part of the story is true.
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: That part, I promise you.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: I promise you that part of the story is true
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: because I could not.
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: You can't.
- 1:42:24Speaker 9: I could not.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: That's true.
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: Takeover was better than ether.
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: No, No, we're not gonna do that. But that part
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: of the story was true. The other part was not.
- 1:42:35Speaker 8: I didn't say your man. Dad said, Yo, you said
- 1:42:37Speaker 8: it's got a problem over. I didn't say it's over.
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: I said, got a problem and then that problem not
- 1:42:43Speaker 5: before Ether because then he drank over.
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: It was better than either a lot of people say
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: that it was that's a song. You're saying everything induction lyrics.
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: Ether just have more shock value.
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: You gotta look at it like this from me when
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: Ether came out, the impact that it had on New
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: York City, I don't know about everyone else in the
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: world was Oh, no impact that it had.
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: It felt like they felt like that in the world.
- 1:43:07Speaker 9: Yeah, it was.
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: I went to school to take and it was just
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: like it was mazing.
- 1:43:14Speaker 8: We have to get to the radio to see, like
- 1:43:16Speaker 8: remember and he had the whole thing with the whole
- 1:43:18Speaker 8: It was a moment.
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: It was it was that was a crazy moment as
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: a kid, like and I'm as a whole fan, I'm like,
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: what you go? And then he just came was super
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: ugly en.
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: I was like, yeah, they apologize and it was like, oh, you.
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: Know, Takeover is better than either.
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: So we asked ice Cube his top five I don't
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: know if you saw that that's been trending online. We
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: asked in his top five battles on the Wall top
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: he didn't even have take Up, take Out, Takeover.
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: It wasn't in the top he had no Vaciline Ether
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: undeniably number one.
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: He had because Cuba is a West Coast nigga and
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: just Ether so aggressive, like he just you know, que
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: West Coast of the court. West Coast music is rooted
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: in aggression.
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: I didn't realize how I'm not from that era, so
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: I never really grew up on n w Ain't nothing
