- 0:00Yo yo yo welcome back to Banner with the boys, fast laps back at you again here at the British
- 0:22GP recap and then previewing the Hungarian GP but obviously before that let's bring everybody in
- 0:31we'll start across the table this week Tyler what's going on? Not much man another Tuesday
- 0:36well it's Wednesday today had a little bit little things happen yesterday to delay this a day but
- 0:41it's been a good couple of days man. Yeah for sure for sure Cole obviously I'm gonna hit you with how's
- 0:47your week been and then obviously you're gonna proceed to talk about the weather and how busy
- 0:52you've been at work because of it. Yeah yeah crazy weather on Sunday morning I guess you could say
- 0:57late Saturday night so it's been a heck of a week but it's been beautiful last couple days
- 1:03can't complain now. Today's been awesome yeah talk about the weather here today's pretty much perfect
- 1:07Joel right next to me co-host what's going on? Nothing much just excited to be here talking about F1.
- 1:12For sure for sure keeping it simple excited to talk some F1 with that let's head right into the-
- 1:18How are you doing Smelty? I feel like nobody ever asked you how you doing man. How you doing man?
- 1:22Oh we're good too works busy football starting up that's busy so everything's just going crazy so
- 1:30nice smooth summer. Will NCAA coming out? College football 25 yeah yeah but all of us will be NCAA 25.
- 1:40We're becoming old heads now we'll call it NCAA but yeah no I love the game love the game but
- 1:45let's head right into the British GP recap. Right away with Quali we had three Brits on the podium
- 1:56of Quali at their home track that's pretty wild or am I wrong? Why why the- Well I don't know
- 2:02there's no- do they celebrate the podium of Quali? Like not really. Not really the the pole center
- 2:10gets a tire. Sweet. Sweet. That'd be cool. Is it like a gold tire? No it's just like a little tire.
- 2:16It looks like a prolly. They sign it. It is a prolly. That's kind of funny. Very small version.
- 2:21And then there's always like a- I would love to buy one off of like you get like one of those
- 2:25verses or something. That'd be sweet because it's always somebody like that presents it too so like
- 2:30the the pole center like signs it and then it's sometimes it's like a member of motorsports or
- 2:35sometimes it's a like celebrity yeah it's just for the photo op. Okay. And then I mean I assume
- 2:42the tires go back to the factory. For sure. They just scrape the signatures right off? It's where all-
- 2:47No no no the team's headquarters sorry because that's where all the trophies go. Oh I got you.
- 2:51Okay. I thought you were like yeah they sign it then they just send it back scrape it off.
- 2:55There was a fun- Well they're this big. Yeah. Right. This is a fun fact. Lewis actually I think this
- 3:00was in one of his recent pole positions he asked where they go because he's never seen them
- 3:05and the Pirelli was like you're supposed to be getting them so I assume they're probably like
- 3:08you're right they're probably supposed to be they're probably just going to Mercedes but
- 3:11yeah he doesn't know so. That's funny. That's funny. Obviously with that Lewis getting the dub.
- 3:19Let's just let's just drop that hammer right off the bat. Is that what Lewis says drop the
- 3:25hammer or does he say it's hammer time? Hammer down. Hammer down that's what it is. He probably says both.
- 3:29Both. What an idiot. Obviously I was born in the 90s but yeah obviously Lewis getting the dub for
- 3:38Mercedes his first win since I believe like 2021 was it? Yeah I believe so. Was it a thousand days?
- 3:45Yeah something like a thousand. I don't know how many days. It was just over a thousand.
- 3:49It was a big deal because it was over a thousand days and he was the oldest person ever to get a
- 3:53win. Pretty awesome. That is pretty awesome. About time. Broke a couple rough records yeah.
- 3:58Oldest person ninth not not consecutive but ninth win at a single track. That's insane.
- 4:03Yeah he beat their most wins at their track too. Yeah yeah a lot of records. Wait what was that?
- 4:09He broke the tie for the most wins at the uh at the grand prix at the uh. Schumacher and him were
- 4:14tied with with eight. For sure yep. I didn't know that was specifically the British Grand Prix that
- 4:19Schumacher had eight too. That's crazy. Okay no I mean obviously I don't think that'll be his last
- 4:26win. I think we'll see some next year. I have a good gut feeling but maybe this year. Maybe we'll see some more this year dude.
- 4:31I think we'll still see another one this year but I will have to say his partner in crime George was
- 4:36running a pretty solid race before his I can't remember what I put down here. Well didn't Lewis pass him?
- 4:41He did. Before he. He did but George was still had a pretty good weekend. He's still showing us
- 4:49that why Mercedes is confident with him being their number one driver going to next season.
- 4:53But I mean like on top of that when he passed him it was kind of just showing
- 4:58experience at that rate in the rain. That's when he passed him in the rain. Oh my god. It was just
- 5:02it was just kind of experience at that rate with the uh. And Lewis had silverstone I mean come on.
- 5:06Medium tires. Right. Medium tires they weren't none of them were on slicks and that's when
- 5:10Lewis was making crazy passes and catching up there everybody. Yeah he was driving a lot more
- 5:14aggressively. Yeah well and speaking of the rain I can't imagine how much of a strategy nightmare
- 5:20that's got to be especially like the on and off rain like it was doing for the first what like 30
- 5:24laps or so it was like oh rain's coming in five minutes it's gonna last 10 minutes and it's gonna
- 5:28stop and then we got rain in like 30 minutes. Like what like what are you supposed to do like
- 5:32strategy wise? What can you even plan for in that moment? It was by like by far one of the craziest
- 5:38kind of like strategy monopoly games that I've ever seen. We I mean I was counting like the
- 5:43seconds that like Leclerc was losing because he went on slick or not slicks he went on inters too
- 5:48early. I want to say he lost minutes like like very soon whoever was in first at a time was
- 5:55lapping him it was that it was crazy it was crazy just how like how like quickly the tire track the
- 6:02track could change for what is the best tire and then how quickly like that would change positions
- 6:07just for everyone in the field. Well even uh on like the whole strategy I think that's the only
- 6:12reason that Max like even gets a podium. Red Bull by far is they don't have the fastest car anymore
- 6:20they may have arguably one of the better driver obviously one of the better drivers on the grid
- 6:24I don't arguably the best driver on the grid arguably. But like it's I think it's purely just
- 6:30strategy at this rate the only reason they're still getting big points in podiums because
- 6:34I mean Lando, Lewis, even Piastri they all had a faster car out there but yeah they all went on
- 6:40mediums but it's like so you could you could almost say that they're on softs or uh Lewis and Lando
- 6:46ended on softs. Oh they did end on softs but you could argue that like Checo was a sacrificial lamb
- 6:50in this because he went on hards real early in the race they got all that tire data and then they
- 6:55put for sapping on hards and he was just doing work like he called Lando like nothing and then
- 7:00I mean you give him five seven more laps he he he's probably catching Lewis. But even even just
- 7:05like when they decided to pit all the other teams were messing up on at least one of the driver like
- 7:09Piastri just got handed the horrible card on that. Yeah yeah. No that was horrible. Lando did too I mean like and
- 7:14and Russell did too. McLaren's strategy like McLaren is looking like Ferrari of the last two years
- 7:20with their strategy right now. I would definitely agree that this like Lando strategy aside Lando
- 7:25wins this race I think that's the fastest car in Silverstone and I think strategy definitely
- 7:30rooted for them. You lost in the race? You got yeah you had Piastri instead of double stacking which would have
- 7:35obviously lost time. He went another lap and then Lando passes him in the pit entry which sucks and
- 7:40then yeah for some reason they decide to go on the softs instead of the mediums when we know the
- 7:45mediums are so good on that McLaren. I just I don't know where the thinking was I mean Lando said it
- 7:50himself it was just really bad strategy calls. Yeah he did straight up come out and say that. He said he wouldn't
- 7:54be able to catch him anyway even if even if he got in front of Lewis there. He was like I wouldn't
- 7:58been able to to keep it. He would have passed me pretty soon. What? Yeah. I think it's it's also I mean
- 8:03obviously it's tough to decide in the moment. I think they gave probably gave Lando that decision
- 8:07a little bit. They laid it out if we go softs we probably fight for pole or fight for first position
- 8:14but if we go mediums we're defending Max more and unfortunately it was just you know bad info. But
- 8:20why why do you not double stack there? What what do you think their reasoning was to not do it?
- 8:24Like what was going through their mind at the time? Like obviously it was still I think it was still
- 8:28on off reigning at the time like we didn't know quite when it was going to be fully driving. It was a dry run.
- 8:33Is that when they didn't double stack? Yeah. Okay. Because Mercedes did double stack that time. That's right.
- 8:38Yeah that's right. But why would you not? They're wearing the Ferrari hats. I just don't get it.
- 8:42That's I mean their their their strategy is just it's been absolutely terrible. It cost Lando the
- 8:47race last week or the race prior to this. And they've made one good strategy decision and that was Lando in Miami.
- 8:55The funny thing uh you brought it up already so I want to touch on it. You said that uh Lando obviously
- 9:01has the fastest car. There was something that came out um like from like three years ago because Lando
- 9:06has had the fastest car the last couple races. Yeah for us like three weeks. And there was something
- 9:10that came out like three years ago and they were praising Lewis for winning races. And they go yeah
- 9:15of course he's gonna win the race. He's got the fastest car. And now it's like coming back to bite
- 9:19him because he said that like a couple years ago when Lewis is winning all the races with the fastest
- 9:23car and now he's got the fastest car and he ain't winning. So like there's a guy that was posting
- 9:27all that next to him losing with the fastest car. That's hilarious. That's rough. Hey he brought it on himself.
- 9:33I mean he was 80s right now. Right. They don't have the fastest car. No. Right but they're damn close at this point.
- 9:40They got really good drivers. I was gonna say they're driving the heck out of the cars. Like Lewis to win that race
- 9:47looking at his tires at the end of the race. Oh my god it was so you know marbled up on the tires.
- 9:52I can't imagine cornering on those things. It would have felt like you're on ice skates I'd imagine.
- 9:57And you put it in here uh leave it uh leave me to it mate when he was coming into that 41.
- 10:04It reminded you already brought it up but like hammer time. Yeah literally. I got like chills
- 10:08when I heard him say that. Yeah leave me to it mate. I was like ooh. Yeah yeah. This race is won. Yeah yeah.
- 10:16You ain't catching them. No matter. Not it's not it's over son. No with. But in all honesty like how good
- 10:20that Mercedes car just looks right now. Like George got screwed this race. I mean like the
- 10:26saying that is. No. It was allegedly a water system issue. Oh yes. It was a water system. Water pressure.
- 10:31So they just retired it before possible overheating. It's so crazy to see a car doing so well through
- 10:36the whole race and then just like that. Just like that. They have to retire. I hate that. That's
- 10:40something I do. That's so rough. That's something I do hate about like specifically F1. Like it just seems like it happens.
- 10:46It's happening less I feel like this year than years prior but exactly that. All of a sudden cars running great.
- 10:51And then. He wasn't even losing time. No. It was like he was just in the pits and like boxed. And retired the car.
- 10:57It's like this dude is in contention to win this race. What are we doing here? It's funny you say it doesn't happen
- 11:01because I mean Gasly did the exact same thing at the start of the race. I know. He went to formation into
- 11:05the pits and just retired there too. So maybe Silverstone's just a little cursed for a few people. Didn't he have an issue going into it though
- 11:10because he had a pit like he had a penalty that he started whatever in the pits and then like that was
- 11:15like almost always a plan or something that if they had any issues they were just going to retire.
- 11:19Paris started in the pits. I don't know if. I thought Gasly got like demoted to 20th automatically or whatever it was.
- 11:28Just a moment. Yeah. But yeah he would. Gasly was he's qualified 20th. He was 20th on the grid to start.
- 11:34I mean Gasly did have something wrong in quality because his fastest time was a minute 39 seconds
- 11:40to the next a minute 34. I wonder if it was the same issue because they retired the car for a gearbox issue.
- 11:46Is what they came out and said or what? So they switched gearboxes that's why he got the penalty at the back.
- 11:52So they were just gonna yeah. That's what it was. Yeah and they still had some issue. Yeah I just want to touch
- 11:57really quick on Hamilton winning and the just the overall vibe of the race really quick.
- 12:01I think I was pretty disappointed just because I'm a McLaren fan fanboy and I saw the strategy kind of
- 12:07move both of the drivers out right. Yeah I mean McLaren fan fanboy. Let me finish you know. Yeah go for it.
- 12:13But seeing Lewis cross that finish line and seeing the emotion he brought to that podium.
- 12:18Oh man it made it all worth it. Toto was excited for him. It was so so nice. I don't know why I had to say Toto like that is Toto.
- 12:25Like him and his engineer that was awesome too. I know. They were all excited for him.
- 12:31You could hear in Lewis's voice that dude could barely talk at the end of the race like he was
- 12:34definitely choked up inside that helmet. He did not take that off for a hot minute. Yeah to win your
- 12:39home Grand Prix with the team that you've won eight or seven six whatever it is you know seven eight yeah
- 12:46should wdc's with at your home race for the last year with them it's just it's got to feel so good.
- 12:52If that's the last race Lewis ever wins what a race that would be. Yeah it would be a storybook
- 12:57ending for that like that would cap his career pretty well obviously we know we got a lot more.
- 13:02I think with that with the way that car is right now and the way they look I think Mercedes is
- 13:07going to be fighting for wins here going forward. They would have won two almost they probably would
- 13:11have won two that race him and Russell. Yeah I think they would have won two that race. I don't know.
- 13:17Even Max when he buys one of those cars. Even on the start on dry tires when they were using each other
- 13:25they were both looking good. They were both looking good. They were pulling away and they're able to use
- 13:29each other. I mean I think that's what I'm saying. I'm actually I'm just really impressed with George
- 13:33Russell's development like a couple years ago like I didn't I didn't I definitely didn't put him on the
- 13:39same pedestal as like Stroll but like he just wasn't consistent at all a few years ago. I'm
- 13:46talking like three four years ago like it's been a minute right but you see his development is
- 13:51increased and increased and now I think we're starting to get the best of Russell finally.
- 13:54He's a good driver. I agree with you 100% he would have been probably two if not one. But like I mean we
- 14:01touched on Max a little bit too but the biggest surprise for me with Max was he was P5 to start.
- 14:07Four. P4. That was surprising. Yep. He wasn't even like he wasn't even in the fight. What were what
- 14:12were the three in front of him again? I mean both Mercedes. It was the Brits. George, George, Lewis,
- 14:16and Lando and Lando was two tenths faster. That's conspiracy. George was four tenths faster. Yeah.
- 14:24It's crazy. George had a burner in quality. Yeah. Yeah he beat Lewis by what two uh 0.210?
- 14:30Uh he beat Lewis by a little over a tenth. Almost two tenths. Two tenths yeah yeah yeah.
- 14:36He was he was fast. No it was just over a tenth. Was it just one? Huh? It was I'm looking at 0.8.
- 14:42Oh yeah yeah yeah. That's crazy though. Yeah. George, George, uh brrrr. I think if he if
- 14:49Russell doesn't retire man the race changes so much if he doesn't retire but like Lando on mediums I
- 14:55think he probably could have caught Lewis at the end there. I don't know if I would have wanted
- 14:58that to happen that's now seeing Lewis win but. I don't know just Lewis experience that Silverstone
- 15:02if they're on the same tire because I think they wouldn't have been because Mercedes never puts
- 15:06him on the same tire. He would have been on a medium that's true. I think he would have gone
- 15:09onto medium as well if Lando instead went on mediums instead of the softs because I think
- 15:14that's that's what made him fall back behind even Max. What did Lewis end on again? Lewis ended on
- 15:19softs and he got past Lando at the pit exit so Lando would have been right behind him. He would
- 15:26he was right behind him either way but he couldn't catch him. He was like two seconds or so and then
- 15:32like off the pace. That's right and then I mean Lewis was catching him regardless. I think. Oh
- 15:36yeah I mean Lewis yeah okay yeah Lewis passed him at the pit exit. Yeah but I think even if Lando was
- 15:41ahead of him I think Lewis is still catching him. You think so? I think Lando even said that.
- 15:47Just in general like in general if he had the mediums on. No no because they were on the same
- 15:52tire. What I'm saying so if Lando would have been in front of Lewis coming out of the pit
- 15:55section I think Lewis still catches him. The softs are not the tire for that situation.
- 16:01Not at all. I think my I'm just pitching if Lando same exact situation Lando just goes on mediums I
- 16:07think they're fighting and I think for sure Lando could have taken. Yeah I would agree with that. It
- 16:10would have been another one of those ones where like uh the Max Lando fights I think though it
- 16:14wouldn't have been probably till the last couple laughs we've seen them fight. Probably. It would
- 16:17have got really interesting if Lando was on. Max is just out of it in third there because he can't
- 16:19get in and get DRS on him. Yeah. Yeah. Oh man I was so angry when Max got ahead. So was I dude.
- 16:25Yeah same. No. I was hoping he was gonna be fourth. Yeah. I saw Russell go out I was like no and then I
- 16:30saw the piastry fiasco and I was like no shot we're giving this guy a podium then he got second.
- 16:35I was like this is horrible. Yeah it was all strategy. Max too though. I mean it was just tanking. It is mostly strategy but. Well I mean obviously Max is a hell of a driver.
- 16:43God he's like you never can count him out right now you still can't count him out. You know. Again starting
- 16:48P4 like I thought the same thing I was like whoa even just at the start of the race I was like I knew
- 16:53Max would battle you know but I was like I don't I don't think we see Max. I can't believe he got around
- 16:58even I mean you're talking about the start and the battle I can't believe you got around Lando that easy.
- 17:02It seemed easy to get around Lando off the start of the race. Lando does not start races very well. No. Yeah he he does have an issue with starts I think. He's not as something I did put a note down for like
- 17:12piastry in comparison to Lando's just like piastry doesn't back out of an opportunity. He really hangs in there until the absolute last minute. Not as long as Ocon because then Ocon fails but like he hangs in there until the last minute.
- 17:26He'll go off the track. That's something I really noticed this race is like dude he really wants that extra position no matter what it is like he's gonna hang in there. Yeah but I think I mean ultimately Max like going on those hards like you said it was going back to like Checo. He was out of the race he wasn't really gonna do anything starting P19 right. So him going on the hards and them getting that data no other car went on hards right when like Red Bull made that switch so they had that data and they're just like so I mean it's Checo's a great team man but you cannot finish P7.
- 17:55He's still got like P17 when you get your teammate finishing P2 I don't care. He's two laps behind as well. He's like got a couple more races left for the points thing and his contract. When was that cut off what race the break yeah and I think the break is actually after. The next two races right? After the two races yeah. No no it's after the Belgium. And the break. And then it's a break. Real quick on that I wrote this down because I saw this if you take Hulkenberg's last two races he's still outscored Sergio and Sergio's last six races. Yep.
- 18:25You take Sergio's last six and Hulkenberg's last two.
- 18:28Hulkenberg outscored him.
- 18:30That's crazy.
- 18:31That's unacceptable.
- 18:32That's unacceptable.
- 18:33He has a red bull number two driver.
- 18:35That's unacceptable.
- 18:36Here, let's add to that real quick.
- 18:38Out of the 12 races that have happened,
- 18:41seven out of the 12,
- 18:43Sargent has outqualified him.
- 18:46Outqualified?
- 18:47Perez.
- 18:48And this race he finished in front of him.
- 18:50Seven of 12?
- 18:51Seven of 12, he's outqualified him.
- 18:54Hogan Sargent.
- 18:55That's wild.
- 18:56Mr. Sargent almost got him a point this week, but...
- 18:58Unreal race out of him.
- 19:00Yeah, no, for real.
- 19:01He honestly did race really good this time.
- 19:02Obviously, we did not expect that at all.
- 19:04He signed that deal with the other place,
- 19:06and he's like, I'm sending it now.
- 19:08Yeah.
- 19:08Where is he going?
- 19:10Who? Sargent?
- 19:11Sargent, yeah, he signed a deal with IndyCar or something.
- 19:14Oh, yeah.
- 19:14He's going to IndyCar?
- 19:16I think he's right, yeah.
- 19:18Before this, so, you know, he signed that deal.
- 19:20He's like, I'm sending it now the rest of the season.
- 19:22I didn't know that.
- 19:23Well, yeah, I mean, Williams has made it clear
- 19:24he ain't coming back.
- 19:25Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:27You just mentioned Holpenberg.
- 19:28Let's talk about him real quick, obviously,
- 19:30starting in sixth and then finishing sixth.
- 19:34What a heck of a race, obviously, honestly, from Haas as a whole,
- 19:37because K-Meg early on with the strategy in the wet,
- 19:40I believe, if I'm remembering right, didn't he get...
- 19:43Nobody went on wets.
- 19:44Nobody was on wets.
- 19:45Was he...
- 19:45No, I'm sorry, enters?
- 19:46Didn't K-Meg get enters pretty early?
- 19:49No.
- 19:49Did he not?
- 19:50No, I think he was one of them that was losing time.
- 19:52He did it around the same time as LeClair.
- 19:53Really?
- 19:54Yeah, because there was three, I'm pretty sure there was three drivers
- 19:56that went on enters.
- 19:57There is LeClair, O'Connor and Joe that had been there.
- 20:00I'm thinking of something else, though.
- 20:01I made sure not to write it down because it was just crazy.
- 20:04Oh, just crazy.
- 20:05Just crazy strategy.
- 20:06But I mean, Haas as a whole...
- 20:08Going on enters early.
- 20:10Obviously, K-Meg didn't make points, but I mean,
- 20:13and it's not a bad look for Haas, obviously, committing to what
- 20:16Holkenberg is doing, but...
- 20:18You know who's just licking their lips right now?
- 20:20Audie.
- 20:21Yes, he looks...
- 20:23He's looked so good recently.
- 20:24So good.
- 20:25You put him in one of those top three, four cars.
- 20:28In Sergio's car?
- 20:29You put him in that other Red Bull with how aggressive of a driver
- 20:32he is in that car underneath him.
- 20:33Now, granted, you could make an argument they're the third or
- 20:35fast, third or fourth fastest car on the grid, but it's still
- 20:38better than Haas.
- 20:38But he's probably still finishing at least P5 or higher.
- 20:41He's a podium dog.
- 20:42He's a...
- 20:42With the way he's driving right now, man, he's driving that car
- 20:45out of his mind.
- 20:46Yeah, but do you think he just...
- 20:47Right now, he's just very comfortable in that car?
- 20:49Absolutely.
- 20:50I think that's also like... it's a double-edged sword, that comment.
- 20:53I agree.
- 20:54He's racing out of his mind.
- 20:55You throw him in like a Red Bull though.
- 20:57He might be too much car for the boy.
- 20:58Well, it's going to take his person.
- 20:59It's going to take his person.
- 21:01I'm going to say, are we talking about Holkenberg right now?
- 21:04I mean, what's in our minds?
- 21:06It's crazy because I think Sergio has pushed us to this dark place.
- 21:10That's what I'm saying.
- 21:11It's like...
- 21:11It's crazy that we're talking about this.
- 21:14Sergeant in that Red Bull.
- 21:16Oh my gosh.
- 21:17Stop.
- 21:17Oh man.
- 21:18Come on now.
- 21:19Come on now.
- 21:20Oh man.
- 21:21So much damage.
- 21:23So much damage.
- 21:27Obviously, we've already kind of touched on Ferrari, but...
- 21:32just obviously, we won't even really need to touch on them any further.
- 21:35Just bad strategy, kind of like...
- 21:37Where they should be, right?
- 21:38It's unforgettable, you know?
- 21:40Or forgettable rather, sorry.
- 21:41But it's becoming commonplace for their races to become forgettable.
- 21:45Where they should be though, right?
- 21:46Fifth?
- 21:47I think that's a safe spot for Carlos.
- 21:50For Carlos, yeah.
- 21:51Yeah.
- 21:51That's where he should finish.
- 21:52Yeah, right now probably.
- 21:54But for Leclerc, they're not even making Q3.
- 21:56Yeah.
- 21:57There's a problem.
- 21:58And obviously, like you said, they're bringing kind of an upgrade to this week, but it's not.
- 22:04It's going back.
- 22:05It's so like they revert...
- 22:06They went to this new wing in the Spanish Grand Prix, and it's created a lot of their...
- 22:10It's fixed some of their downforce issues.
- 22:12However, it's created porpoise in the high end speed, so they're reverting back to the
- 22:16old wing with slight modifications going forward now.
- 22:20They'll hopefully fix that porpoise issue so they can actually have a top end car again.
- 22:25For sure.
- 22:26Because since the Spanish Grand Prix, they have just, woo!
- 22:28Yeah, yeah.
- 22:29Bouncy ride.
- 22:30Bouncy ride.
- 22:30And it's crazy to think that the team has two wins this year.
- 22:33Yeah.
- 22:34Right.
- 22:34It feels like so long ago already.
- 22:35It does.
- 22:36Even Monaco feels ancient.
- 22:37And right now, if you ask me if they can even win a race, I absolutely not.
- 22:41No, no.
- 22:42Not with the performance of McLaren right now.
- 22:44And Mercedes.
- 22:45Mercedes is still Red Bull and Mercedes climbing into there.
- 22:48Mercedes is highly outperforming Red Bull.
- 22:50Yeah.
- 22:51As a whole.
- 22:53Yeah, again, because of Checo.
- 22:56Not even that, brother.
- 22:58I mean, George and Lewis have been two, three of the last four.
- 23:01Three, four races.
- 23:02George and Lewis both winning a race.
- 23:03Who won last race?
- 23:04George.
- 23:05Canadian Grand Prix.
- 23:06No, the Canadian Grand Prix wasn't the race before, was it?
- 23:09It was Austria.
- 23:10Oh, I mean before Spain?
- 23:12Max won Austria.
- 23:13Yeah, okay.
- 23:14And then it was the Canadian Grand Prix.
- 23:17No, the Red Bull ring is where George won.
- 23:18Because Lando and Max were at.
- 23:20Oh, he won.
- 23:21That's true.
- 23:22Who won Canada then?
- 23:23Canada was...
- 23:24Canada was Max.
- 23:26Canada was Max because he came into Canada saying, I'm not going to race very well.
- 23:30Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:31Because Lando messed up.
- 23:32That was like the switch, right?
- 23:33Where it was kind of like the opposite of Miami for Lando.
- 23:36So, I mean, I guess as of currently, like today, they are outperforming Red Bull.
- 23:41Yeah, I don't know if...
- 23:42Well, they're almost...
- 23:43Tyler was just looking this up.
- 23:44Spain, that's right.
- 23:45That's where...
- 23:45You were just looking this up.
- 23:46They almost caught...
- 23:47They're almost caught up to Red Bull.
- 23:50Yeah, so looking at the constructor standings, like right now...
- 23:54No, I was bringing...
- 23:56They almost caught up to Ferrari.
- 23:58So, Red Bull is still in the substantial lead at 373, then Ferrari is at 302, and then Mercedes...
- 24:02Or sorry, McLaren is at 295.
- 24:05So, there's seven points behind Ferrari, right?
- 24:09How much farther is Mercedes?
- 24:10And then Mercedes is at 221.
- 24:12So, they're 74, pan-7.
- 24:15I mean, realistically, like say the next four or five races, if it continues as it is right now,
- 24:22Mercedes is bumping Ferrari and it's a Red Bull-Mercedes-McLaren fight.
- 24:26But if Max...
- 24:27We have to have Max start dropping down for them to continue that jump.
- 24:31I mean, hey, it's just...
- 24:32But check out what he's doing, right?
- 24:33It's starting to happen.
- 24:35I mean, he qualied fourth.
- 24:36I mean, we're starting to see him start...
- 24:38I know, I know.
- 24:39You gotta see where they finish.
- 24:40He still won two of the last four races.
- 24:42Right, and that's...
- 24:43You can't take that away from the guy, but I mean with the performance of Mercedes...
- 24:47But Mercedes has also won two of the last four races.
- 24:49Well, and you can't forget about the performance of McLaren's car right now.
- 24:53If they can keep him on the track.
- 24:55Damn near.
- 24:55Yeah, right?
- 24:56If McLaren can figure out a strategy, I think they're 100% battling at least Red Bull at the end of the season.
- 25:032020, the last season, and at this same point in the year, Red Bull was like 300 points up on the constructors.
- 25:14Holy crap.
- 25:15Over second place.
- 25:16Over second place.
- 25:17Yeah, yeah, it just wasn't even a contest.
- 25:19It wasn't even a contest anymore.
- 25:20And now it's...
- 25:21I mean...
- 25:21And Mercedes finished second last year, right?
- 25:24Mercedes finished second.
- 25:25Yes, and Ferrari did third.
- 25:26No.
- 25:27Yes.
- 25:28Ferrari and McLaren.
- 25:29Yeah.
- 25:30Moving right along, still with our British GP recap.
- 25:34We should probably move along here soon.
- 25:36But I mean Aston kind of right where we sort of expect them, except stroll finishing in front of Alonso.
- 25:43I got to actually give it to stroll for once.
- 25:45I mean all day through the rain.
- 25:47I mean he kept the thing on the track, which is impressive enough for him.
- 25:52But I mean finishing P7 and then obviously Alonso P8.
- 25:57I can't imagine Aston's too upset about that right now with the way the season's going.
- 26:01They need those points too.
- 26:02They have to be ecstatic.
- 26:03Yeah, they need those points.
- 26:04For sure.
- 26:05Both cars and points.
- 26:06But to think that a Haas was in front of them...
- 26:07I was just about to say that.
- 26:08That's the part that's got to rip their heart out.
- 26:11You put Nico in and then Haas came in.
- 26:13Oh my God.
- 26:16Obviously right behind them you had Albahn in the Williams.
- 26:19We talked about Williams slightly with Sargent.
- 26:21Good to see him back up there.
- 26:22You know, not getting points.
- 26:23And we didn't even talk about Albahn getting in the points.
- 26:26Good to see him back up there.
- 26:27That car has looked very impressive the last handful of races.
- 26:30They've definitely kind of turned the corner.
- 26:32They're on top of...well not obviously Haas is on top of the midfield, but they're fighting
- 26:37for that top spot.
- 26:38Where are they in the points?
- 26:39Who's right behind them since you had it up?
- 26:40I'm just curious.
- 26:41So it's...
- 26:42Who are they fighting with kind of?
- 26:43So RB, the Racing Bowl, still have the lead for 6, but then it's Haas, Alpine, Williams.
- 26:48So it's Haas at 27, then Alpine 9, Williams 4.
- 26:51There's still a steep decline there.
- 26:52Yeah, for sure.
- 26:53But with the way that Racing...the Haas has looked right now, I mean the Racing Bowls are
- 26:57only 4 points ahead of Haas.
- 27:00Haas could easily close that gap.
- 27:02That's kind of crazy, especially with the way the Racing Bowls have been.
- 27:05I mean obviously we saw Sonota get back a point, right?
- 27:10But they've been kind of off.
- 27:11You might imagine their best year.
- 27:14They finished 6 this year, that'd be awesome.
- 27:16Haas takes 6, and the construct race, that'd be awesome.
- 27:19It'd be such a good F1 drive to survive next year.
- 27:22If they take 6, and then Red Bull loses.
- 27:26Imagine financially what that does for Haas, if they can pull off 6.
- 27:2910 to 13 million bucks.
- 27:31We looked that up last time.
- 27:32Is that what the difference was?
- 27:34Yeah, it's not as much as you would think.
- 27:36Yeah, but still.
- 27:37Hey, they might get Hulk in a couple years.
- 27:40Bring him back.
- 27:44But I mean, to think that Aston is still 37 points ahead of the Racing Bowls, that seems
- 27:52crazy to me with how little Aston's been performing as of late.
- 27:56Compared, and then Racing Bowls had a couple races there that they both were finishing
- 28:00alright.
- 28:01Yeah, I would have thought that would have been a little bit closer.
- 28:03Alonso had a lot of fourths, didn't he?
- 28:05Yeah, here I can actually have that.
- 28:08So Alonso, no he hasn't had, his best finish this year is a fifth.
- 28:12Wow, and they're that much above?
- 28:14Yeah.
- 28:15Pest driver on the grid.
- 28:17He has 45 of the points though.
- 28:19Yeah, so Alonso has 45 of the, what did I say?
- 28:24Alonso has 45 of the 68 points.
- 28:2645 of the 68?
- 28:27So Stroll's still putting in the money there.
- 28:30Well, I mean, Stroll still has more points than Yuki.
- 28:33He still has three more points than Yuki.
- 28:35Dang, and we were putting Yuki on a pedestal.
- 28:37Stroll has more points than Hulk.
- 28:38For that car, Yuki is on a pedestal right now.
- 28:42Yeah, yeah, that's fair.
- 28:43That guy cannot stay out of the points.
- 28:44And I mean, speaking of Racing Bowls real quick, and then I guess there's not really
- 28:47anything to really talk about the Alpines.
- 28:50But I did find an interesting quote from Danny Rick in an article.
- 28:55I thought it was Sports Illustrated, but I can't remember.
- 28:59But he just said the stopwatch doesn't lie.
- 29:02Like, no, it says, it says formula1.com, but it's like, it was like, I think it was Formula
- 29:06One Briefings, which is part of Sports Illustrated, whatever.
- 29:09But anyway, anyway, he was just saying how like the stopwatch doesn't lie.
- 29:13Like obviously he knows his time's running out.
- 29:16He's just not performing.
- 29:18You know, if he keeps outperforming Sergio, he might be in a Red Bull by the end of the
- 29:23year.
- 29:24I think we see somebody else in that.
- 29:25I think we see somebody else in that seat by the end of the year now.
- 29:27The more and more rumors.
- 29:28I mean, at this point, I'm, hey, the rumors are coming out and I'm believing the rumors.
- 29:32What rumor are you hearing?
- 29:33The rumors is that he had a six, the other part of his contract is he has a six race
- 29:37span where he has to out, he has to be within a certain point gap.
- 29:42Within a hundred points of his snap in.
- 29:44And he has to do a certain thing else.
- 29:45He has to be in P5 in the constructors.
- 29:47Yes.
- 29:48And he's already jumped out of P5 in the constructors.
- 29:51Right now he is P6 in the constructors.
- 29:53He is six points behind Oscar.
- 29:55He's also too far.
- 29:56Drivers, sorry.
- 29:57WDC.
- 29:58And he's also too far away from Max in the points right now.
- 30:00So he needs a good two races.
- 30:02He is like.
- 30:03What is their plan then?
- 30:04He's a hundred and.
- 30:05So it's either Yuki or Danny Rick that they're going to put in that seat.
- 30:09He's a hundred and twenty two points behind Max.
- 30:10So he needs to close that gap.
- 30:12He needs two big, big races to maybe like, or he might not have a seat when he comes
- 30:16back.
- 30:17He might be in a racing.
- 30:18Might be in a racing.
- 30:19You say comes back next year?
- 30:20No, or from the summer break.
- 30:21Summer break.
- 30:22Summer break.
- 30:23That's so interesting.
- 30:24But who knows how accurate those are?
- 30:26Like Red Bull hasn't come out and said that's the clause in there.
- 30:28They might have to make a decision though.
- 30:30I mean if Danny Rick and Yuki are out performing him, there's no option but to put them in
- 30:34the seat in the better car.
- 30:36And Danny has the experience.
- 30:37If you want the constructors, you might have to.
- 30:40That's what I think.
- 30:41Unfortunately, I think I'd lean Danny over Yuki just for the experience.
- 30:46You have to put Danny.
- 30:47It had to be Danny.
- 30:48I think so.
- 30:49Do they lose, they lose Checos points or has he, has he gained those points for Red Bull
- 30:53when he was racing for them?
- 30:55No.
- 30:56So if you change seats, the points don't drift.
- 30:57They don't drift into the next team?
- 30:59Okay.
- 31:00Correct.
- 31:01So he still keeps all of those points he had for Red Bull.
- 31:02That's like even more like why not?
- 31:03Yeah.
- 31:04Yeah.
- 31:05I have recently, I will say like in the last two weeks, I've been seeing a lot of clickbait
- 31:08titles about Checos specifically.
- 31:09So I don't know you, I mean, I haven't seen them all year for signs though.
- 31:14But it started after his contract though.
- 31:16Yeah.
- 31:17It started doing this right after his contract.
- 31:18They started talking about all these stipulations in it after he started doing bad.
- 31:21And when Corner has come out and said there is clauses in his contract, but they're too,
- 31:25nobody knows what they are.
- 31:26But he didn't say if they were performance clauses.
- 31:27No, they won't.
- 31:28They won't come out and say what they are.
- 31:29It wouldn't make sense to do that.
- 31:30It would also be suited like already with the heat he has if he throws Checo under the
- 31:34bus.
- 31:35Oh, for sure.
- 31:36He has signed him for two years.
- 31:37That's best you can say.
- 31:38He's got clauses.
- 31:39He's got a little bit.
- 31:40And that also doesn't surprise me that they structured his contract that way.
- 31:43Yeah.
- 31:44Yeah.
- 31:45It only makes sense.
- 31:46There's just no logical sense you give him a two year extension.
- 31:48Well, that's why we were so flabbergasted that he signed them multi-year, right?
- 31:51One plus one.
- 31:52Right.
- 31:53I highly doubt it's a two year contract.
- 31:56It's a one year contract with probably that option or whatever it is if we're talking
- 32:00in other sports terms.
- 32:01Yeah.
- 32:02Yeah.
- 32:03So it's like there's no way he's in that Red Bull seat 2026.
- 32:05Yeah, I agree.
- 32:06No.
- 32:07There's no way.
- 32:08I think he's going to be in it all this year.
- 32:10Man, if he's out by the break, it's going to be a very interesting Mexican Grand Prix.
- 32:16If he doesn't, they don't take first.
- 32:17What do they do next year?
- 32:18If he doesn't, they don't take first.
- 32:19He's obviously not going to be in the Red Bull.
- 32:20You don't think he's going to, like for sure.
- 32:21So do they put him in a racing bull?
- 32:23But it's because like Dave Camone said it's supposed to be.
- 32:25I think because he has a contract with Red Bull, I think he's probably going in a racing
- 32:29bull.
- 32:30But they could, I'm sure that contract, all you got to do is pay the guy whatever it was
- 32:33and you can put somebody else in the seat with a new contract.
- 32:35Don't run out of contract money.
- 32:38If he gets, if he gets at least a little bit of his stuff together by the end of the year
- 32:43and finishes this season in a Red Bull seat, I think he still starts next season in a Red
- 32:48Bull.
- 32:49He has a short leash, but it's short though.
- 32:51If he finished the year.
- 32:52I mean, we're talking like maybe that six race window or like a five race window.
- 32:55Like buddy, you got three points in six races, you're done, you know, or whatever.
- 33:00I'll say if he stays in the seat the rest of the year, Red Bull doesn't win the constructors
- 33:04this year.
- 33:05That's what I think.
- 33:06I would agree with that.
- 33:07They might not even hold on the second.
- 33:08No, a hundred percent, a hundred percent.
- 33:09I think, I think it's a battle between McLaren and Mercedes at the top two right now.
- 33:10Cause yeah, the top, the bot, the next three are so close together.
- 33:11With Checo staying in, it's a battle between those two at the top two.
- 33:12I think even if you put Danny Rick in that seat, it's the, they're still, I mean, he
- 33:13might consistently grab those seventh to eighths, but I don't know if they're, he's fighting
- 33:14for podiums.
- 33:15At least he's getting points though, you know.
- 33:16I don't think he would.
- 33:17Right, right, right.
- 33:18I think he'd be consistently five to eight.
- 33:19He'll get you, but you know what that does?
- 33:20Danny Rick.
- 33:21I think he battles with fifth.
- 33:22That gives you a 30 to 50 points and that's all you need.
- 33:39That's true.
- 33:40That's all you need, dude.
- 33:41You know?
- 33:42You can throw a lot of people.
- 33:43I think you can throw a lot of people on here.
- 33:45We got to, we got to keep that receipt right there.
- 33:48If Checo stays in the Red Bull seat, then Red Bull does not win the Constructors.
- 33:53So I can't remember, have we talked about if like, because I have some, it's not insider
- 33:58knowledge, but I have some thoughts on it.
- 33:59Have we talked about if Red Bull really super cares about Constructors even?
- 34:03Oh, they have to.
- 34:04They have to?
- 34:05Oh yeah.
- 34:06Because I think the difference in that, you know, 10 to 13 mil, I don't think the, like
- 34:09that's for, you know, those four to 10th place teams.
- 34:13I would think they really care about that.
- 34:14I mean the difference in 10 mil to a Mercedes, a McLaren, a Red Bull, a Ferrari, I don't
- 34:19think that's the thing.
- 34:22But it's like the, like you get that, you're number one in the Constructors.
- 34:26That has to bring more with it than that six for seventh, right?
- 34:30The counterpoint to that is if that was the case, they wouldn't have torn through Albon
- 34:34and Gastly that year because they would have just took a young driver and helped him grow.
- 34:38I think, I think it's just changed though.
- 34:41I think they've gotten their Constructors and I think they're focusing solely now because
- 34:45I'm just trying to reason with like the two year contract for Perez instead of kicking
- 34:50him and getting somewhere else, right?
- 34:53They have to think that driver's champion is way more important than Constructors this
- 34:57year.
- 34:58They just have to.
- 35:00I think they know they're not going to get it with Checo.
- 35:04But that doesn't change this year, right?
- 35:05Because the contract is for next year and the year after.
- 35:08So this year, you're not going to sign Albon and get him in the car this year.
- 35:11It doesn't work like that.
- 35:12He would have to fulfill that contract.
- 35:13Right, but I'm just saying like foreseeing in the future because you know, we only know
- 35:17what we know.
- 35:18It's a one plus one contract.
- 35:19He should technically be racing next year, right?
- 35:22So why would they keep him if they know that they can't win Constructors?
- 35:25So here's maybe why.
- 35:28Because his previous contract guaranteed him to the end of this year, them getting
- 35:32him to sign a one plus one may have been able to put a stipulation for him not finishing
- 35:37out this season and going to a racing bowl.
- 35:39That's probably the only way they're able to get a stipulation put in this year.
- 35:42So you're saying it's because his previous contract probably ran to the end of this year
- 35:48with no stipulations.
- 35:49But if they get him to sign for a one plus one, they can get a stipulation in this year.
- 35:55If he's like, okay, you want to race with us for a couple more years?
- 35:57Perfect, we'll give you a contract.
- 35:58This is a stipulation.
- 35:59You have to beat this and this this year and then we'll keep you next year.
- 36:02And if you do this good this year, we'll keep you again.
- 36:05So you're saying if they pull him have to pull him out of a car and demote him to racing
- 36:09bowl, you're saying there's probably another stipulation where he doesn't get paid the
- 36:11same.
- 36:13I'm sure those clauses are there.
- 36:14I would imagine but you're saying if he doesn't finish out the season with Red Bull, then
- 36:18there could be a stipulation saying like, well, now you don't you don't obviously get
- 36:23a seat next year.
- 36:24I think he would still get a racing bowl seat.
- 36:27I think he's buying himself a seat.
- 36:30He's banking on his own skill to stay the rest of the this year and next year with Red
- 36:35Bull.
- 36:36So Red Bull doesn't sign contracts for you to to to drive for no drive for a team.
- 36:41You're under the umbrella.
- 36:43Yeah, you're on the right.
- 36:45So what seat you're in is essentially how Marco and Horner decide what's for sure.
- 36:50And if you want to have to be performance more than anything else, you would imagine.
- 36:54And even like you said a couple of weeks ago, there's they probably extend him because of
- 36:58his nationality and all like his fans and stuff like that.
- 37:01It's the sponsorships.
- 37:03So if they give him a one plus one and he's not in a Red Bull, at least he's still in
- 37:07the Red Bull team and they can still market them.
- 37:09It's like Danny Rick being the reserve driver last year.
- 37:11Right.
- 37:12If you look at it that way.
- 37:13Yeah, you signed Danny Rick as your reserve driver to, yeah, fill the seat if it needs
- 37:16to be filled.
- 37:17But you saw the promotional events exactly start going to.
- 37:20And of course, they're going to be huge because it's still Danny Rick.
- 37:22They even touched on it on Drive to Survive.
- 37:25Did they?
- 37:26Yeah, it was like, yeah, you get Danny Rick in your system because he can be that face
- 37:30because Max don't want to be the face.
- 37:32Max just wants to drive a car really fast.
- 37:34Yeah, yeah.
- 37:35But Danny will be the media presence you need him to be.
- 37:39And he enjoys it.
- 37:40He does.
- 37:41Oh man, do we?
- 37:42But I think he would enjoy it more if he was in the Red Bull.
- 37:45By the end of the year, he looked rough.
- 37:48He looked like he had to jump into rehab or something.
- 37:53He also commented like, yeah, I'd much rather be like driving than doing this.
- 37:58Sure.
- 37:59Yeah.
- 38:00Danny Rick to Red Bull by the end of the season.
- 38:01With that, let's go into news.
- 38:10Heading right into the news.
- 38:12Obviously, we'll start off with Newey, Adrian Newey.
- 38:16I saw something come up and I don't know how true it is.
- 38:19So if you guys want to blast me, that's fine.
- 38:22But Newey allegedly now not going to Ferrari.
- 38:25I saw that.
- 38:27Now he's kind of allegedly making a decision between McLaren and Aston.
- 38:32However, he's making these comments, quote, at the same time, I can also take a bit of
- 38:37holiday time.
- 38:38I've been kind of in the business pretty much nonstop for a long time now.
- 38:41So having a little break, a little bit of a break is nice.
- 38:45So this was consider calling it quits.
- 38:47I don't think so.
- 38:48But do you know the top gear guy, the tall guy from Clarkson, Jeremy Clarkson?
- 38:52This this all the rumors of it.
- 38:53This started because he goes, I got some some tea for you guys or whatever.
- 38:58Oh, he's not looking for houses X where you thought he was.
- 39:02He's looking for houses right now here and that wasn't looking for houses in Marinela.
- 39:06He was looking for houses in Oxfordshire, which would which would more so correlate
- 39:09with the Aston and I'm still which if we go back to week like four, that's when we were
- 39:14talking about before.
- 39:15I said he was going Aston.
- 39:16You did.
- 39:17You did.
- 39:18And then so Jeremy Clarkson is here.
- 39:22Jeremy Clarkson and Adrian are like old school like school buddies.
- 39:27Right.
- 39:28They went to like college or something together.
- 39:29They've known each other for years.
- 39:31So they're like actual mates.
- 39:33I didn't even know.
- 39:34I was wondering, it's a weird set to know.
- 39:35Hey, you know where this guy shopping for houses.
- 39:36You got the same realtor.
- 39:37They're like they're buddies.
- 39:38That's interesting.
- 39:39I didn't know that adds a little sizzle to the rumor.
- 39:44There's no way he doesn't go for a right.
- 39:45I've definitely heard.
- 39:47I've heard the same thing.
- 39:48I've heard that either.
- 39:49It's I'm just I've heard that the Ferrari talks are over.
- 39:52I've heard both that Ferrari turned down him and that he turned down Ferrari.
- 39:55How are you going to turn down 105, bro?
- 39:58Every time I see it, I go like this.
- 39:59Yeah.
- 40:00Yeah.
- 40:01Pretty much.
- 40:02Listen, these are all headlines.
- 40:05I'm seeing the headlines and I'm like, I don't really care.
- 40:06Until it's actually official.
- 40:07We're just not going to know what he's going to do.
- 40:10This is this is the.
- 40:11I feel like Aston is probably the most viable.
- 40:14The Carlos Sines move right now.
- 40:16Yeah.
- 40:17Same thing.
- 40:18We're going to fall into a trap for a couple of weeks on it and then we will never know.
- 40:20We're in the trap.
- 40:21We've been in the trap for multiple weeks.
- 40:22Months, probably at this point.
- 40:23I mean, we're sitting here in the trap.
- 40:24We don't might not know until the end of the year.
- 40:25Like he's just leading us along.
- 40:26I'm done, actually.
- 40:27I call it quits and then boom, right before the season starts.
- 40:28Actually, I've been low key working with Aston this whole fricking time.
- 40:29Hey, Nui, you're getting no more airtime here, OK, bud?
- 40:30At Banner with the boys.
- 40:31Sign a deal or?
- 40:32So real quick, before we move on with that, if he is actually considering McLaren and
- 40:33it's allegedly between McLaren, Ferrari, and Aston, then I think that's a good thing.
- 40:34I think that's a good thing.
- 40:35I think that's a good thing.
- 40:36I think that's a good thing.
- 40:37I think that's a good thing.
- 40:38I think that's a good thing.
- 40:57I think that's a good thing.
- 41:13I think that's a good thing.
- 41:28I think that's a good thing.
- 41:44I think that's a good thing.
- 41:59I think that's a good thing.
- 42:15I think that's a good thing.
- 42:30I think that's a good thing.
- 42:45I think that's a good thing.
- 43:00I think that's a good thing.
- 43:15I think that's a good thing.
- 43:30I think that's a good thing.
- 43:45I think that's a good thing.
- 44:00I think that's a good thing.
- 44:15I think that's a good thing.
- 44:30I think that's a good thing.
- 44:45I think that's a good thing.
- 45:00I think that's a good thing.
- 45:15I think that's a good thing.
- 45:30I think that's a good thing.
- 45:45I think that's a good thing.
- 46:00I think that's a good thing.
- 46:14This is a good thing.
- 46:29engine provider through uh 2028 so so i think they're still keeping toyota in mind for
- 46:36past that i think they're looking at it was more of an actual sponsor
- 46:40i then like i saw that they're i saw they were thinking about changing the whole power unit
- 46:44no for sure yeah no i could i can see them trying like just like yesterday actually a big deal that
- 46:49they stayed with ferrari but i mean i could see it also them just like getting a sponsorship
- 46:53because they're not repping ferrari right like far is not paying them any money to use their engine
- 46:58it's the opposite right so i think that like toyota could ease their way into sponsorship
- 47:02and then like hey say hey this is what we can build you if you want to just go with toyota and
- 47:06we can make our move for sure so speaking of engines i also heard speaking of the hat here too
- 47:11i heard mclaren uh zack brown zack brown right yep yep he was looking for a sponsorship with
- 47:17red bull to get their engine really but they're going to ford oh 2026 right they are going to
- 47:25ford so are they do you think they're going going for a four it might have been now i'm thinking it
- 47:29was ferrari that he was talking to there's something came out recently where zack or he
- 47:32was talking to somebody about joe's on it yeah joe's on it but there's somebody he was talking
- 47:37to somebody about trying to to partner with them for a power unit now they extended their deal with
- 47:41mercedes to 2030 oh snap mclaren yeah oh snap dark web ain't always right huh i'll double check
- 47:49this is a weird site i'm sources are getting the waiters actually it's not a weird site it's a
- 47:52pretty good site actually uh yeah that is interesting though um i'm thinking of right now
- 47:59i don't know dude because red bull like the rbpu is gone so okay the whole the whole like
- 48:05conversation around power units in general is interesting because red bull's going with ford
- 48:092 are they going with ford 2 are they sticking with honda i think they're sticking with honda
- 48:15is what i actually saw so it's so it's so we're gonna have six power units we're gonna have
- 48:20ford we're at red bull ford we're gonna have honda we're gonna have mercedes we're gonna have ferrari
- 48:25we're gonna have reno still so stupid and we're going to have outie with their own power unit too
- 48:32that's interesting what was last time we had six different power units i think it's been a minute i
- 48:36i mean i since maybe there were like the lotus days because that lotus engine was a burner but
- 48:43you just listen to that thing in the old kimmy videos bro that
- 48:52just a bad engine just a bad car bad car in general bad drivers did you guys see that max
- 48:58what were you asked like what the best car he ever drove was or his favorite car and he came out i
- 49:02don't remember the exact model it was like the rb like 16 or something that he won i don't think
- 49:06he won his first championship with but it was like the year before or something it was something
- 49:11like that and he's like the only thing that that like sucked was the top end speed because he just
- 49:14called out the reno engine and then his next favorite cars with the last two years
- 49:21were they with reno when they won i don't think so no i don't think so wait no well because
- 49:28you're talking about max's first one well that's what you were saying that's what max had said i
- 49:33could have sworn he only started winning when they had honda but like what did 2022 was first 2022
- 49:39was the first year of the honda so max's first championship was with the reno uh vetos was all
- 49:44reno okay so reno's since like the start and then they went to their own yeah interesting yeah reno
- 49:51used to they used to have a well lotus was also alpine reno right right yeah i mean obviously i
- 49:57think it actually was a reno engine i don't think it was lotus's engine but it is crazy to have six
- 50:02power units but isn't it kind of crazy how many different teams share a power unit i mean it is
- 50:07that that's not crazy that always blows my mind i feel like i feel like i guess if you're one of
- 50:11the top teams but if you're one of the top teams why not like like why wouldn't mcclaren try to put
- 50:15their own engine in the car i get that but like if you're trying to win championships i don't know i
- 50:20just feel like you can already buy a somewhat like a good developed engine i guess like that money
- 50:25like to to develop an engine versus buy one but at that level and then you have to look at the
- 50:31actual manufacturing of what goes into the engine to get it to this engine that i've previously bought
- 50:35because you can take the engine and modify it however you want right it's just the main power
- 50:39unit that's designed that you're buying but it's like it's so much and it's like if somebody were
- 50:44to do that you're starting that like this year to hopefully get it in 2026 right you're not making
- 50:49that switch and having it ready to go it just yeah it just blows my mind kind of no it is it
- 50:54is something it's like it's just so weird to me i was about to bring in nascar but i was like
- 50:57they do the same thing but like competitors they buy other teams engines like mcclaren
- 51:01like mcclaren and mercedes have the same engine yeah i used to i think when i try to like mess
- 51:05with that thing a little bit but you do you essentially oh i mean i'm sure there's
- 51:11stipulations and whatnot in those contracts dude you're talking bad i don't even want to imagine
- 51:15what the cost of a single power unit is and then you're buying what five or six for the year if not
- 51:20more than that yeah no i i agree i think when i first started watching and like participating
- 51:26i definitely think i was like but they're they like have the same engine so they have some kind of
- 51:30partnership right but like obviously it's it's all behind the scenes and it's definitely nothing to
- 51:34do on track they're gonna fight each other and some of them do have that partnership right hosta
- 51:38ferrari williams to mercedes yeah i mean yeah but then you look at mcclaren and mercedes when we go
- 51:42on track you don't see those partnerships happening unless you're like maybe like an
- 51:47rb and a red bull but even then i feel like that's probably pretty far-fetched i'd be cool they're
- 51:51never in it would be crazy helping like like max somehow or something like that the only time i
- 51:57could see that happening would be in like qualy to get like a toe to get somewhere you know i feel
- 52:01like i would throw some headlines dude i think that's why because red bull like as much as they
- 52:06want to say that like a racing program two teams like that's fun right red bull's gotten a lot of
- 52:12fun for everyone that's great cool just stop watching f1 because of red bull at that four cars
- 52:17but on that you were saying that uh racing bull is gonna stay on with uh i think they're staying
- 52:22on with honda instead of going onto the ford do you think that's because they're using the old
- 52:26car the racing bull is using the previous year's cars do you think they only stay on another year
- 52:31and then switch to ford maybe it seems interesting that maybe i because they're using their own car
- 52:38and we're going down a rabbit hole yeah the only reason i say that i'm pretty sure rb is staying on
- 52:42honda is because honda's listed they're the only car that would be on honda no other car would
- 52:46would have it yeah so why would they list them as a power unit if not unless they just don't know
- 52:50yet like it's also possible that's a good point because they would they probably would be running
- 52:54this year's car yeah but that's a that's interesting yeah maybe maybe you're right there
- 53:00uh what are you what are you pulling up over there before we move on i'm looking to
- 53:04do yep um the the racing bulls and red bull will both use the ford branded engine oh so what are
- 53:11they doing with honda honda's going away just i think that's why they're going to ford is honda
- 53:16like so honda came out a year or two ago and said we're gonna stop making these engines and then
- 53:20red bull's like here's some money at least give me to this year so they so like essentially that
- 53:25deal was so that like red bull could find an end manufacturer and allow them to build something
- 53:30so they could at least have an engine for that time and then it was decided boom 2026 um and then
- 53:36they they went with ford and then honda essentially extended their contract with them to say hey we're
- 53:40going to produce this many more engines for this time that's what surprises me the most about new
- 53:45leaving red bull is like if you're going to leave leave when the new powertrain comes in like take
- 53:49advantage of what you're doing right now especially with how like involved he is in the hypercar
- 53:53because red bull just released their hypercar things good by the looks phenomenal looks sick
- 53:58looks phenomenal that thing is just clean looks like a hot wheels car it's just does it's literally
- 54:03their f1 car with a body wrap yeah like but it's so clean pretty much like six mil uh something
- 54:11like that yeah that sounds right actually it was cool seeing newy like talk about how like
- 54:15when he's working the f1 car you only can think about you know like aerodynamics and and you know
- 54:20how it's going to be best on track but he's like with this one i actually got to like think
- 54:23creatively about it so it's yeah really refreshing yeah a little bit yeah really see the
- 54:27cool see that come on if that's the thing like if he goes to ferrari for the f1 team and then he can
- 54:32maybe work his hand into some ferrari stuff too outside yeah i think he probably enjoys doing
- 54:38that yeah because it's it's not only that it's it's lamans right that's what you're designing
- 54:42your hypercar for is for lamans so you would have to think that whoever he goes he's going to have
- 54:46a plan yeah you'd have to yeah i also don't think you're going to pay somebody 35 mil a year for
- 54:52just an f1 right well it's or and i think i mean i'm still adri newy but i think to be honest with
- 54:58you like i think newy would want that other like that i think that would be another part of his
- 55:04was hey i have to be involved in this and this and this or maybe just like the lamans car or
- 55:08whatever the what are they called enduro cars you think do you think he's just an outside the box
- 55:12thinker oh my god um clip that anyway um moving on in the news staying with haas real quick
- 55:29beerman finally signs with haas for next year uh we knew that was coming uh allegedly rumors of
- 55:35oak on the house did you put that on there joh i did who the hell would put that man in a car next
- 55:40year what's your dark web say col oak on the house i mean for a long time it was ricarda to haas
- 55:53that's what it was for a good amount of time i don't know now now i've heard i'm starting to
- 55:57think that the your dark web sources are just your brain this was like this is like four or five
- 56:01weeks ago they're saying this right i remember back when ricardo wasn't doing good i remember
- 56:06it being brought up when he wasn't doing good so the the most recent news is that like the
- 56:11there's been a lot of expectation in the paddock that astabon oak on will join haas but valter
- 56:15ibatis is still in the mix so it's he's now between the two that's interesting i feel like
- 56:22botas is going to williams if there's still a seat open there is just albons confirmed i agree
- 56:29i think it's really between haas and williams that'd be a good move for botas and then he's
- 56:33still in the rs80s family because you let's think of it right you put you put him in at williams
- 56:39and then next year you put kimmy in the seat he's not performing it's a lot easier to swap
- 56:43batis botas than with than albin would be wild that would be wild i don't know why why would it
- 56:50happen i mean yeah it's it's it's like he does and he'd be a perfect number two to george now
- 56:55it's like a racing bull that's that's ah wow that is why not go rookie then here why not go kimmy
- 57:01i think kimmy is the only answer for mercedes next year at this point i think you're probably
- 57:06right i think science makes so much sense it'd be better for better situation probably for him
- 57:11anyway right now i want him to retire in the family too you think so yeah he would like to do i think
- 57:16toto and him because toto and him always had like a really good relationship even in drive to survive
- 57:20they sat down and they had their like that that table and they discussed it and valter was like
- 57:24hey i get it man like you gotta go with the young buck who is the few who was when he was on williams
- 57:30george russia was termed as the next champion oh for sure no they definitely talked about him a lot
- 57:34so and then like like valter he completely understood i think there's always going to be
- 57:39that mutual respect where i could see him doing that like last ride put him in a mercedes
- 57:43and keep him in the family yeah i i like that idea actually i like your thought dude i like
- 57:47your thought a lot you can you can be you can feel good putting a risky guy in that spot because if
- 57:52it doesn't fail if it fails okay let's put him down for williams for two years or a year yeah well so
- 57:57then that just brings up the next point here to round out our news is uh joe did you also put that
- 58:03in there i did uh how williams states they're not looking to be a quote stepping stone team
- 58:08for you know if signs wants to get in there to get somewhere else yeah i have but then we're
- 58:12talking just talking about both us maybe yeah i have thoughts on this because it was like
- 58:18signs to williams for a while was like the rumor and he's i mean he's i mean i think he's gonna
- 58:22he's rumored to be on every single team from all the headlines that i've seen right so i think and
- 58:27nowadays it's probably alpine that he's rumored for but like uh vowels had had there was an article
- 58:33that came out with vowels saying that he left like he was winning at mercedes right he didn't
- 58:39he didn't come to uh williams you know to feed mercedes more like he was already on that team
- 58:45he wants to build williams into like a better team he does not want to be a stepping stone and i was
- 58:50like well you don't want to be the stepping stone but that's exactly what you're going to be until
- 58:54you can make a car that can compete like consistently all the time like i think i don't think albons a
- 58:59bad driver and obviously he can't get like amazing points all the time so stuff still needs to be
- 59:05figured out you come to like the race with a single a single uh like replacement chassis you
- 59:10have to give your car to your other driver it's just it's stuff that does not promote a team that
- 59:16will grow into a legacy like it already has like it like you you went to this team obviously to make
- 59:21it your own and whatever you just can't have that yet so that's the only reason that i put that there
- 59:26um you don't turn down you don't turn down science if he wants to go to williams yeah it's that's
- 59:31what i would think that's what i'm coming down to money at that point is the only thing yeah science
- 59:35can join and say hey i'm at my stepping stone right now and they'd go cool thanks for driving for us
- 59:42he's going there and i'm sure like the reason why that came up is because you know conversation
- 59:45came i was like science could come to you for like hey let me drive for you for one year so i can go
- 59:49and be an outie after that or something like that right and i'm sure maybe that isn't how the
- 59:54conversation went and he's just covering himself a little bit and saying no we're not a stepping
- 59:59stone team yeah we're an f1 team but i mean at the same time like i get the williams mindset there
- 1:00:04right if you're only gonna have science for a year you're gonna pay him a lot more than you're
- 1:00:08gonna pay valter or one of these other drivers like is is he gonna finish high enough in the
- 1:00:13constructor in the you know the wdc to put you above that level in the constructors where you're
- 1:00:18going to make that money back instead of investing in somebody possibly of the future for sure so i
- 1:00:23totally get that williams mindset too though it's a good mindset to have it's just i don't know in
- 1:00:28bad bad timing i think i just don't think they're there yet yeah 100 agree with that
- 1:00:33yeah yeah with that we'll close out our news
- 1:00:43and right back at it with our hungry hungry hungarian preview uh go ahead and let joe
- 1:00:50take it away with the history of the hungry group yeah jeez hungry and gp just take it away joe do
- 1:00:58your thing okay looking forward to the formula one hung get oh no you got me now hungarian grand
- 1:01:05prix 2024 um just another another fun fact per usual okan took his maiden f1 win in 2021 here
- 1:01:13and george claimed his first f1 pole in 2022 at this track um i feel like we usually see a bit of
- 1:01:21action turn one here um so i'm hoping for a little little more carnage early on uh last year we saw
- 1:01:27crazy qualifying positions from the salver team we saw joe and fifth and botas and seventh beating
- 1:01:32out sergio and carlos both i don't think we're going to see that this year but still kind of
- 1:01:36crazy that we saw last year um looking at our starting grid we saw louis to max to lando to
- 1:01:43oscar in turn one we saw wheel-the-wheel action between max and louis as the current wdc gets
- 1:01:50ahead to first meanwhile from fourth oscar covers both his teammate and louis to slide in the second
- 1:01:56place after the first turn lando quickly overtook louis on the outside of the next corner for a 2
- 1:02:013 mclaren running early in the race further down the grid the first turn we saw some contact from
- 1:02:07our favorite teammates ocon and pierre after joe locked up in the back of danny who ran into the
- 1:02:12alpines both of those cars retired after a heavy uh heavy wing and wheel damage were sustained
- 1:02:19we got to witness some world-class defending from alonzo and seventh i feel like i've seen
- 1:02:22multiple different scenarios where alonzo's defending here and he's doing great um he's
- 1:02:28defending against sergio behind on lap six he was able to hold him off for a couple more laps until
- 1:02:33checo took the position in lap eight lap 19 after a round of pits from mclaren norris was able to
- 1:02:38outpace a very quick two second pit stop from piastry and got ahead into second right out of
- 1:02:43the pit exit into turn one charles who had been having a very clean race got a five second penalty
- 1:02:48for speeding in the pit lane after locking up right at the entry line and then checo who had
- 1:02:52a mega recovery from quali found fourth place from piastry thank you on lap 47 a net third place
- 1:02:58after pit stops across the finish line 33 seconds ahead of second place max verstappen took first
- 1:03:06place at the hungarian grand prix so our final was verstappen to norris peres to hamilton piastry
- 1:03:13to russell claire to science and then alonzo to stroll this is max's seventh victory in a row and
- 1:03:18red bull's 12th win in a row a consecutive record breaker um verstappen was caught saying what an
- 1:03:24unbelievable rocket ship that was today that was very enjoyable 33 seconds man last year was boring
- 1:03:33oh i hated i'm sure i hated that race dude did we see didn't we see a 33 second
- 1:03:40win by verstappen this season too what's it 33 or like it would have been early but i thought
- 1:03:45it was like really early we saw i'm sure we've definitely had a long like a long one from
- 1:03:49verstappen but that's ridiculous like this is ridiculous and he started in i mean he started
- 1:03:53in second but still that's it's crazy dude no so verstappen's first win was 22 then saudi was 13
- 1:04:05and then australia was two and he hasn't had like a go away so it's 22 okay okay but like last year
- 1:04:1030 seconds for verstappen win was normal yeah that was completely normal no just straight red bull
- 1:04:14dominance all season man um no i mean what's interesting is obviously we we know how important
- 1:04:23practice is leading up to the weekend obviously and right now as of like 30 minutes ago the pit
- 1:04:30lane is still flooded like ankle deep uh so we'll see really if they can actually now the weather
- 1:04:38for the weekend i've already looked obviously that how do you say the track the hungering
- 1:04:42hungarian hungararing yes hungararing yeah no thanks uh just outside budapest so i already
- 1:04:51looked up the weather and it looks like it's gonna be dry for the weekend but like it's
- 1:04:55interesting if they let's say can't practice on friday you know what i mean i feel like every
- 1:04:59every session is important but does that just hurt the the young drivers this weekend isn't
- 1:05:05there isn't there a couple isn't there a couple young drivers that are uh that are coming in to
- 1:05:09try out the car oh i think you're right that last weekend no i think you're right i think there's
- 1:05:16they have as many as they definitely can i don't know i thought that uh i thought that
- 1:05:21not ollie but um what's the guy's name jack dohan was maybe gonna come in now who's it was a backup
- 1:05:27reserve for um uh mercedes kimmy yeah antonelli no it's mick yeah i did too no you're right you're
- 1:05:37right you're right it's probably not from a reliable source but i saw something about mick
- 1:05:42hey you know i'm like 95 percent i'm not saying you i'm saying what i saw after some of the stuff
- 1:05:47you said earlier this year like you said you said checo was not gonna get like in top five
- 1:05:52we all thought that was why and that's happening like that's it's crazy so far i need to start
- 1:05:57putting these bets in i gotta find a place to do it you gotta drive south buddy like what two hours
- 1:06:04and then you can oh man diamond joe's yeah yeah uh i don't know we were talking before we started
- 1:06:11recording that who was it ferrari and merce not mercedes and red bull are both bringing upgrades
- 1:06:16but ferrari's isn't necessarily as much as an upgrade is like a revert but they're still making
- 1:06:21modifications to it it's not just the exact same old floor okay and red bull we can't you can't
- 1:06:25find any information on red bull because it's major upgrades and helmet marco saying that it's
- 1:06:31just needs to change what happens or else like you know they're screwed which is true right i saw the
- 1:06:36same thing though like the same caption around ferrari major upgrades coming then ferrari releases
- 1:06:41it and something like this yeah you know maybe you're describing last year's car red bull you
- 1:06:45know even the last time it was for ferrari like it was before monica if i'm not mistaken it was
- 1:06:49a goal major upgrades coming and charler carlos came out no it wasn't before monica i want to say
- 1:06:53it was a weekend before after but he was like yeah it was like point i can't tell you the exact
- 1:06:58times but it wasn't as big as the media was making it out yeah i think i think it was supposed to be
- 1:07:02half a second it was like yeah yeah yeah it was supposed to be like or something probably no it
- 1:07:07was at it was at monica but they didn't see it at monica they saw they would have saw it the next
- 1:07:10race because it was more for the uh the next race was spain and that's when the car actually took
- 1:07:15a downfall because of the poor pristine yeah that they're now trying to fix for sure uh with that
- 1:07:21you might as well give us an update kind of on our our personal podium here you probably just
- 1:07:25took this part right and then and then let us know what our what our bonus points are going to be
- 1:07:31this week we'll do we'll do so after last week um we are we had a louis max lando podium nobody
- 1:07:38got all three points um i myself got two so i'm still in the lead at 24 col himself got two as
- 1:07:45well so he is second and 23 smelty you also got yourself two so you're at third and 22 and joey
- 1:07:51only snagged one point last week he had 18 that's right um and then our bonus question last week was
- 1:07:57who's going to finish eighth place none of us got it so no bonus points awarded last week so i should
- 1:08:02get a negative point since my driver didn't even complete a lap my eighth place driver gasly retired
- 1:08:08to me so in that case then smelty has 21 it was a joke we don't need to make it reality so this
- 1:08:16week we're going to throw a throw a kind of wild card out there the bonus point is going to be the
- 1:08:21or the bonus two points my apologies is going to be who is leading at the end of lap 35 which is
- 1:08:26the halfway point of the 70 lap race so as soon as he passes on lap 35 so it'll pop up his lap 36 on
- 1:08:31the yep yeah so whoever crosses the finish line yeah that's a good point yes so as soon as he says lap 36 who
- 1:08:39cross that line correct yeah okay yes that sounds good yes so as the new way we are doing it here
- 1:08:45um i will go first here i am going to go with louis george and lando this week and there's my
- 1:08:51podium whoa no max no max in the podium this week and i think that george is going to be the halfway
- 1:08:57point leader oh that would go next to coal yeah that now i want to switch my halfway leader
- 1:09:05i was gonna um you're gonna go george yeah i'm gonna go george too i'm gonna do louis george
- 1:09:10versus stappin and uh i was gonna do george halfway um i'm gonna do
- 1:09:19i'm gonna do lando halfway lando halfway okay he's gonna be late or something next we have smelty
- 1:09:27yeah um yeah i'm going crazy max lando piastri for my podium and then leading halfway
- 1:09:44those are both really good picks uh
- 1:09:49we'll go max yeah just do it i was gonna say just yeah it'll be like halfway i don't think he'll
- 1:09:56win the race honestly to be honest with you but i think halfway sure whatever safe bet right
- 1:10:03i think it's going to be in no particular order obviously for stappin norris hamilton
- 1:10:08i was going to say max halfway but in the spirit of being different i'll say louis checko i like
- 1:10:15that we have three different podiums this week nobody repeated the podium and it's funny how
- 1:10:20that is actually changing now to look at what the podiums are at the beginning of the year
- 1:10:24and now looking at it now now now it's starting to get a little bit more unpredictable we'd only
- 1:10:30get one different beginning of year it'd be like one or two guys that are different third place
- 1:10:34yeah it was max checko and then like who do you want charles or carlos yeah yeah to think that
- 1:10:40colin i picked louis week one was kind of silly and then we both didn't have checko in there
- 1:10:48yeah with that that wraps our podium predictions for the hungarian gp got it right
- 1:11:00obviously don't forget to like comment subscribe uh yeah join us we got a show next week right
