Latest / Sidekick's What Just Shipped / HubSpot Breeze in the email composer: type a slash to draft | Shipped Jun 2026
Transcript
- Rob (AI host): In HubSpot's email composer, a single slash now calls up Breeze, right inside the email you're writing. Dana (AI host): So no more copying drafts over from a side panel? Rob (AI host): That's the pitch. But the help page and our write-up don't quite agree on setup. Narrator (AI voice): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped, presented by Sidekick Strategies. Narrator (AI voice): Your hosts, Rob and Dana, are AI. Narrator (AI voice): The voices are synthetic, the research is real, and humans check every claim before it reaches you. Rob (AI host): Before we start: Dana and I are AI hosts. Rob (AI host): Neither of us has an inbox, or a renewal list. Dana (AI host): I'm Dana. Dana (AI host): Today I'm playing a customer success manager who writes renewal check-ins from contact records all day. Rob (AI host): So, what shipped. Rob (AI host): HubSpot's June product updates post says Breeze can now be invoked directly from the CRM email composer, using a slash or the toolbar button, to draft or suggest email text inline. Rob (AI host): Our June write-up says it works in any hub and any tier. Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page for one-to-one emails, updated October 28, lists all products and plans. Dana (AI host): What did reps do before this? Rob (AI host): Per our write-up, Breeze could help with drafts only from the sidebar. Rob (AI host): You'd leave the composer, ask, then copy the result back in. Dana (AI host): Walk me through it, then. Rob (AI host): The help page path: open a record, click the email icon in the left panel, add a subject, then in the body, type a slash and select Suggest a draft. Rob (AI host): Our write-up describes the same idea. Rob (AI host): An inline prompt opens, you type a request, review the text, re-prompt if it's off, then insert it into the email. Dana (AI host): Which records? Rob (AI host): The help page says one-to-one emails go out from contact records, or from associated company, deal, ticket, or custom object records. Dana (AI host): What kind of request works? Rob (AI host): Our write-up's examples are a short follow-up after a demo, or a suggested reply to a prospect who asked about pricing. Rob (AI host): Then refine it with something like make this shorter. Dana (AI host): And once it's inserted? Rob (AI host): It's a normal email. You edit, and you can send, send later, or save a draft. Rob (AI host): HubSpot's June post added saving one-to-one drafts and editing scheduled emails, for all hubs and tiers. Dana (AI host): Renewal check-ins are often replies, though. Rob (AI host): Our write-up says you can ask Breeze in the prompt to suggest a reply, then refine it before inserting. Rob (AI host): It points at customer success and support people answering on contact or ticket records. Dana (AI host): Is the composer the only place to draft? Rob (AI host): No. The help page also describes a second route. Rob (AI host): Open Breeze Assistant from the top navigation, ask it to draft an email to this contact, then click Edit in canvas. Rob (AI host): From the canvas, you can send the email directly, or copy it to the clipboard. Rob (AI host): So the slash is for when you're already in the composer. Dana (AI host): What if only one paragraph is off? Rob (AI host): HubSpot's August post added editing specific text with Breeze in emails. Rob (AI host): Highlight part of a draft and ask Breeze to rewrite just that section. Rob (AI host): In Breeze canvas, the help page lists the options after you highlight text and click the AI icon: Rewrite, Expand, Shorten, or Change tone. Dana (AI host): And on the phone, between meetings? Rob (AI host): HubSpot's September post added Breeze drafts in the mobile email composer. Rob (AI host): The mobile help page says tap the AI icon, pick an email type, describe what you're selling, who to, and the main points, then tap Generate. Rob (AI host): You can regenerate, then tap Insert, or copy it. The text length option is iOS only. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Hey, it's George B. Thomas from Sidekick Strategies. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Full honesty, this is my AI voice clone, made with my permission. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): A slash key only helps if your team remembers it's there. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): The problem with Breeze usually isn't capability. It's adoption. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Our AI for HubSpot Teams workshop builds role-by-role Breeze playbooks for sales, marketing, and service, right in your live portal. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Then we check adoption a month out and unblock whatever stalled. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Details are under workshops at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Dana (AI host): Now the skeptic part. Is it really zero setup? Rob (AI host): Here's the mismatch. Our write-up says no configuration is needed to turn it on. Rob (AI host): But HubSpot's Breeze Assistant help page lists a requirement: an admin turns on Give users access to Breeze Assistant in the AI settings. Dana (AI host): So if the slash does nothing, check that switch first. Rob (AI host): Right. Second gap. Rob (AI host): Our write-up and the June post both mention a Breeze button in the toolbar. Rob (AI host): The composer help page only describes the slash and Suggest a draft. Dana (AI host): Does it cost credits? Rob (AI host): We couldn't confirm. Rob (AI host): HubSpot's August post says some Breeze features require Breeze AI credits, without naming them. Rob (AI host): The composer help page doesn't say. Dana (AI host): Any limits? Rob (AI host): The Breeze Assistant help page says content generation is limited to 100 requests per account in a rolling one-minute window. Rob (AI host): Email drafting in editors counts. Dana (AI host): That's per account, not per person. Rob (AI host): Per account. Rob (AI host): A big team drafting at once could hit it, but that's a lot of drafts in a minute. Dana (AI host): Can an admin limit who uses it? Rob (AI host): The help page says user permissions determine which actions can be performed with Breeze Assistant. Rob (AI host): And some features depend on optional switches in the AI settings, like CRM record analysis. Dana (AI host): Anything about sending rules? Rob (AI host): One the help page flags. Rob (AI host): If a contact has globally opted out of email, you must provide a one-time legal basis to communicate before sending a one-to-one email. Rob (AI host): Breeze doesn't change that. Dana (AI host): And templates? Plenty of teams have a library they like. Rob (AI host): Our write-up says this doesn't replace templates or sequences. Rob (AI host): Use Breeze for a new kind of message, then decide whether it should become a template for the team. Dana (AI host): Okay. Here's the plan for the customer success manager I'm playing. Dana (AI host): First, confirm the Breeze Assistant switch is on. Dana (AI host): Then draft one renewal check-in with the slash, and fix just the weak paragraph with a highlight. Dana (AI host): If the result is good, save it as a template, so the next one starts there. Rob (AI host): And keep the old habit of reading every word before you send. Rob (AI host): Our write-up's own steps end with you editing before sending. Rob (AI host): So, the slash key. Rob (AI host): Draft inline, fix a paragraph with a highlight, draft on the phone, and check the AI settings switch first. Dana (AI host): Links to every source sit in the show notes, and the full write-ups are at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Rob (AI host): Thanks for spending part of your day with us. Dana (AI host): Type a slash before you type hello. Narrator (AI voice): Sidekick's What Just Shipped is presented by Sidekick Strategies, with AI hosts Rob and Dana and AI-generated music.
