- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we are talking about seeds starting and what does
- 0:36that mean in the big world of self development and self
- 0:40improvement and all of that? Well, you probably heard me say
- 0:43this if you're a long time listener, you know, I'm obsessed
- 0:46with the fact that I can grow pretty much anything and I love
- 0:49the idea of getting new seeds. I love seeds because they're
- 0:53little packages of pure potential.
- 0:56And in the world of self development, we're always in a
- 0:58place of pure potential. Apparently she thinks so too.
- 1:03In any event, the the seeds are just, you know, they look like
- 1:07nothing, really. Most of them look like nothing.
- 1:10I have some that are so small I need to use tweezers to put them
- 1:13into the dirt that I'm starting. And some of them tomato seeds.
- 1:18I mean, think about a tomato seed.
- 1:19We all can't wait to have a beef steak.
- 1:21Tomato. Well, those of us who love
- 1:23tomatoes anyway. And those seeds are so tiny.
- 1:27And just the the idea that that beautiful little thing can grow
- 1:32into something tremendous just blows my mind.
- 1:36I think that's probably the my biggest love of it is that it's
- 1:39this seemingly nothingness that turns into something incredible
- 1:44and I love that. So as you're as you're going
- 1:49into the springtime and you start to maybe you're a
- 1:52gardener, maybe you're not a gardener.
- 1:53Maybe it's not spring quite yet where you are.
- 1:56For me, I'm starting things inside you tend to, you tend to
- 2:00want to get excited and get into it.
- 2:03So the metaphor that I want you guys to think about the seeds,
- 2:07starting in the regular world of what you're doing, this is like
- 2:10the context of an idea. We all have ideas, we all want
- 2:13to run with our ideas and they're all just in our head.
- 2:16Meaning it's the seed. It doesn't look like anything.
- 2:19It just looks like nothingness. Yet it's huge.
- 2:21It has just an amazing potential.
- 2:26Sitting there in this little tiny package that looks like
- 2:28nothing. Well, that's like your ideas.
- 2:31And you can actually sit there and look at your ideas in your
- 2:35head and become very myopic, meaning that you can't see
- 2:39outside of yourself, you only see what you see.
- 2:42So if you start off and you're positive about it, that's great.
- 2:44But if you start off positive and then you Click to negative
- 2:47and then you start, yeah, but this won't work and you start
- 2:49talking yourself out of the potential before you even put it
- 2:52in the ground, you're in trouble because you can't.
- 2:56You can't allow yourself to not even try.
- 3:00So there's a there's a rule on the back of the packages when
- 3:03you buy little seeds and you'll probably see it if you if you're
- 3:07a gardener, you know germination rates.
- 3:09So they'll say, well this this particular variety has a 60%
- 3:13germination rate. Not great in the big world of
- 3:15germinations for farmers and people who love plants.
- 3:18However, some of them will say 90% germination rate.
- 3:22And that all that means is the likelihood of that seed to
- 3:26sprout and get started. And some seeds need different
- 3:29things to get started. Some seeds need to be cold
- 3:32stratified, they need to go into the freezer so that they get
- 3:35triggered amazingly by really cold weather.
- 3:38And then that means, oh, I should start growing.
- 3:40Or some of them need to be wrapped in paper towels, wet
- 3:43paper towels and put in the refrigerator and then they'll do
- 3:46it. Or some just need to be be put
- 3:48into wet paper towels and then you just leave them on the
- 3:51counter and they start to sprout.
- 3:53Either way, it's it's allowing the seed to take off.
- 3:59And here's the thing about ideas and where this bridge, this gap
- 4:03bridges so well because you have an idea and in your head again
- 4:06you get myopic. And if you're talking yourself
- 4:09out of it without even looking at what can be done to get
- 4:12started, what even looking at what you can do to have some
- 4:16progress and some forward motion with it, you'll just let that
- 4:21seed not germinate. You'll become a statistic.
- 4:24Gosh, isn't that terrible when you think about it.
- 4:26And from the terms of, you'll just become a statistic, another
- 4:29person with an idea who never took it forward.
- 4:31I hate the sound of that. It it never makes me happy.
- 4:35So the way to get past this is to set yourself up and say, OK,
- 4:40when I have an idea, when I have that pure potential in my hand,
- 4:43just like that seed, I'm going to put it out there.
- 4:47I'm going to give it the opportunity to go do what it's
- 4:49supposed to do. I'm going to understand that
- 4:52sometimes there's a germination rate that's off on it, but I'm
- 4:55going to make sure I plant it with enough things around it
- 4:59that make it go forward. So if you've got an idea for
- 5:03something that you know you want to do, and whether it's a
- 5:06business, it's a hobby, it's something you want to make you.
- 5:10You sit down and you brainstorm all the ways you might be able
- 5:13to jump into it, get it going, start that little piece.
- 5:17You don't need to talk about it to people because we all know
- 5:20that's the killer of dreams, talking about them.
- 5:22I can't stress this enough. If you don't have a trusted
- 5:25advisor to share it with, that's not going to tear you apart and
- 5:29just tell you all the reasons why it won't work.
- 5:32Because they're not doing anything, sitting on their own
- 5:34ass, doing nothing, then you definitely do not want to do
- 5:39that. You want to make sure that you
- 5:41are in the the position of saying Nope, I'm going to plant
- 5:45it in the right space. So you brainstorm it yourself
- 5:47and then you start with one little piece, 1 little piece, 1
- 5:50little piece. And that's where it starts to
- 5:52take off. Just like that little tiny seed
- 5:54will sprout into something. So use and remember the
- 5:57metaphor. And if you are gardening, I hope
- 5:59you have great germination rates and I hope you have pure
- 6:03potential showing up in your world and have a blessed day.
- 6:06My friends and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:08Bye.
