- 0:08Hello and welcome back to my channel.
- 0:10My name is Lauren said with different and this is burnt with
- 0:13lorenza, how are you all doing? How you enjoy your weekend if
- 0:18you live in Great Britain, you know that we are going through
- 0:22it. We have a new prime minister
- 0:24lays Terrace. She also met with Queen
- 0:27Elizabeth the second before her passing.
- 0:30And it was a beautiful picture. She was the queen was smiling
- 0:34and it was really beautiful to see her at the age of 96, still
- 0:39active and happy. So people thought everything was
- 0:42okay until we received. I think it was on Wednesday that
- 0:47the queen was not feeling fine, it made headlines.
- 0:52And I think everybody was panicky because of our age and
- 0:56because they made that announcement, they made it
- 0:58public. So people thought This unit is
- 1:01going to be serious and it turned out to be serial, the
- 1:04queen died at the age of 96, after reading for over 70 years
- 1:10and we have a new king now King, Charles the Third.
- 1:14So we are going through a whole bunch of transitioning from, you
- 1:18know, Boris Johnson to Lee's from Queen Elizabeth's to child
- 1:24to King Charles, so it's been a lot and with the passing of the
- 1:30The queen or whole lot has been going on on Twitter and in
- 1:33Nigerian living in the u.s.a., professor, my name is Wu Zhu and
- 1:41yeah, she sets the whole internet and Twitter on fire
- 1:47with her tweets. When she said, let me get that
- 1:51tweet for you. I hope the chief monarch of
- 1:54eight even raping genocidal. Empire is finally dying.
- 2:00Me have pain is excruciating. So this was when it was
- 2:05announced that the queen was sick and would you you know,
- 2:12made the street obviously that was before her dad's and
- 2:16somebody said, what's a hateful thing to say and she replied by
- 2:23saying, I only wish my hatred had the effect on her that her
- 2:27monarchy had. On my people.
- 2:31So would you went? I had you was tweeting.
- 2:35You do was have fingers were happy.
- 2:38She was happily tweeting. And people started criticizing
- 2:42do because they said this is a dying woman.
- 2:45This is a grandmother, this is a great grandmother.
- 2:48This is the people's grandmother.
- 2:50Basically, why would you say such a thing about her?
- 2:57Would you went ahead to say that?
- 2:59If anyone Me to express anything, boats disdain for the
- 3:03Monarch who supervised the government's that sponsored the
- 3:07genocide, that massacred and displaced, half of my family and
- 3:12the consequences of which those alive today are still trying to
- 3:16overcome. You can keep Wishing Upon a
- 3:20Star. So would you obviously is paint,
- 3:24this is a tweet that was done in bad taste like she is Freedom of
- 3:30speech. Everybody has a right to say
- 3:32what they want to say, but the way you deliver certain message
- 3:36matters, a lot if she had come out and mentioned the queen and
- 3:40not being that verbally, abusive and wishing that on somebody who
- 3:46is already died, who is 96 years old and who, you know, could
- 3:50pass on as any minutes, it's kind of done in a poor taste.
- 3:56Although she had a point about what she was talking about the
- 3:59barrel. And all that.
- 4:01But at the same time the way it was delivered was you know poor
- 4:05taste yes, Morgan attacked her Jeff Bezos attacked her.
- 4:10The whole of Twitter was on fire daily meal, carry the story, and
- 4:17even her University came out to disassociate themselves from
- 4:22heart. Sweet.
- 4:23Because she's a professor and they said this is not in our
- 4:27view. This does not represent us and
- 4:29all That I started thinking about this whole thing.
- 4:32I said, I thinking about gear for a war, exactly.
- 4:35He thinking about, who to blame, because a lot of people said, we
- 4:41got Nigeria, got her independence in 1960 and the
- 4:45Biafra will happen from 1967 to 1970 s.
- 4:49So some people said, how are we still blaming British for what
- 4:52happened after the independence? There's a documentary on Netflix
- 4:57that kind of documented the British.
- 4:59Pia invading Africa invaded Nigeria and that's you know, it
- 5:06kind of gave me an Insight of what life was before the
- 5:11colonization of Nigeria, people would think.
- 5:16Oh, this is done in a poor taste.
- 5:18This is not supposed to be like this.
- 5:20Why is she attacking somebody who is about to die?
- 5:23But I think in Nigeria, or in Africa, we settle scores.
- 5:29When Body is dying or when somebody's about to die.
- 5:32Or when somebody is about to be buried, that is when you hear,
- 5:35they've not paid their dues, they've not done this, they were
- 5:39all in this amount of money even before you bury that person so
- 5:43culturally, because this is how this is, why cultures are
- 5:48different. This is why you have to
- 5:49understand people's cultural. I am not saying what she said
- 5:53was in anyway, right? But in the context of cultural,
- 5:58I think she she fell. That this is something that she
- 6:02needs to say before this wasn't die, or before this resin is
- 6:05buried because that is the culture.
- 6:08Was it on in bad taste? Absolutely.
- 6:11There has been a whole bunch of reaction about her tweets and
- 6:13people condemned mean Jeff Bezos about what he has said about
- 6:17her. I am.
- 6:19Copilot said, Doctor would you Anya did not colonized Africa
- 6:24doctor? Would you Anna did not kidnap or
- 6:26by millions of Africans and ship them across?
- 6:29The Atlantic dr. Wu Zhu.
- 6:31And I did not commit genocide in Africa.
- 6:34I'm not sure about that doctor. Would you?
- 6:36And I did not steal trillions of dollars worth of Natural
- 6:40Resources. Would you?
- 6:42Anya is not your problem. So for them to even invade, I
- 6:47mean, you don't invade a place where they had nothing.
- 6:52You have to invade somewhere because you see potential in
- 6:55them. You see something that you want.
- 6:58You kind of just go Invade a days that because, you know,
- 7:02that this, this is a desert, it's dry.
- 7:05There's nothing there. So for you to invade some way,
- 7:08you must have something, they will have that you want.
- 7:12So regardless of whether we want to think that these people
- 7:15brought in Civilization, the brought in hospitals, they
- 7:17brought in the church. There is also an element of pain
- 7:24that is not been addressed. Somebody said something that
- 7:29Yes, we know there is pain, the there is pain especially be a
- 7:34France when you talk about when our parents tell us a story
- 7:39about Jeff reward is always comes from a place of hurt, a
- 7:44place of pain, a place of trauma and we grow up with that.
- 7:48We carry that when you hear about Biafra agitations, this is
- 7:53on a jurist. Trauma on address pain that has
- 7:58not been acknowledged. We talked about slavery.
- 8:02And when you talk about slave trade, you Britain is on the
- 8:06chair table of this whole thing, but one thing I've realized is
- 8:12the importance of telling your story that is the whole thing.
- 8:19Now, I'm not saying Nigeria, we've had our independence for
- 8:23God knows how long and we still have the same problem.
- 8:28We're not going to keep blaming. In Britain for our problem.
- 8:33That shouldn't take away from the conversation.
- 8:35That something happened that needs to be addressed.
- 8:40Don't let people tell your story because people are going to tell
- 8:43you a story the way they want to tell it.
- 8:46People are going to tell your story how the come out looking
- 8:50great in the whole thing. If you look at those whole slave
- 8:53trade and everything, Britain came out at the top, why is not?
- 8:58Because they didn't. You do so people it's not like
- 9:01they didn't colonise people but because they tell their story,
- 9:06The Narrative, the control the narrative their own way and it
- 9:10made them look like Heroes. Instead of what he actually is
- 9:16was so tell your story, you know, your history, tell your
- 9:21story, how many years after Independence?
- 9:24We still blame Britain, we saw blame the queen, we still blame,
- 9:28you know, The West we still blink is just a Blame Game,
- 9:35everybody's just dishing out blame to who they once we have a
- 9:40problem in Africa, it was the colonial Master.
- 9:44We have a problem in Africa, our leaders are you know, still
- 9:47under the colonial regime. So it's just I think we need an
- 9:52overhaul of just teaching our children, the truth teaching
- 9:57them history. So that when they grow Yup.
- 10:00It's not about a family telling their daughter that England
- 10:06supported Nigeria to defeat their friends and that is what
- 10:10they are going to run with. Whether that is true or that is
- 10:13not true. That is what they will run with.
- 10:16But if they go to school, and there is a comprehensive history
- 10:21lessons where, you know where you're coming from, you know,
- 10:25why, the how your people even Participated in the slave trade
- 10:31because listen England. Yeah, they create.
- 10:36They came in and they colonized us but with the help of our
- 10:39people. So it was a partnership whether
- 10:43you like it or not. Some people partnered with them
- 10:46to make all those things happen. So, I think we should all just
- 10:50sit down, think of ways to bring history, back into schools, so
- 10:57that people know where they come from.
- 10:59You know what happened? People were the rules that each
- 11:02and every player played to where you're blaming somebody, you're
- 11:07going to know why you're blaming that person.
- 11:09So that is all I have to say for today.
- 11:11Thank you very much for watching today's episode.
- 11:14So if you have any comments, please leave me a comment in the
- 11:17comment section. I'd like to know, did you learn
- 11:20history in school? I'm a millennial.
- 11:22So, I don't even think it's an, if I ramble annual, and I did
- 11:28not do history in school. What about James?
- 11:31He's like, and these are people that are going to give birth to
- 11:35generations of children. That would not even know where
- 11:38they're coming from. So how do we fix this problem?
- 11:41How do we do that? Leave your comments in the
- 11:44comment section, I don't know. This is just my views on my
- 11:49opinion. I'd like to hear yours and then
- 11:52thank you very much for watching.
- 11:53Today's episode. Bye.
