- 0:56Speaker 5: Hey?
- 0:57Speaker 4: What's wa? Yeah? Oh hold on, there we go a
- 1:04Speaker 4: wolf by the power of grades called good morning good Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:10Speaker 4: this is the one we've been excited about, so it'll
- 1:12Speaker 4: be funny to talk about.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 5: That's a nice sound. That's a nice sound effect.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Okay, So cracking open a Goldman already, this.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Is called a rip it.
- 1:24Speaker 3: This is the cheapest This is the cheapest energy drink
- 1:27Speaker 3: that God put on this Earth.
- 1:29Speaker 4: And the gas have to offer.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Yes, this is what they offered us in Iraq. Oh wow,
- 1:36Speaker 3: I drink a metric ton of this stuff. Okay, so
- 1:39Speaker 3: that ist in the dollar store like that.
- 1:42Speaker 7: Is that is the twenty first century equivalent of spam.
- 1:47Speaker 7: Spam was popularized by US servicemen returning from World War
- 1:51Speaker 7: Two because that's what they fed them over there, and
- 1:53Speaker 7: they're like, hey, let's let's put this in the store.
- 1:56Speaker 5: These guys will buy it, need it.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Yeah, So you're you're drinking spam.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Just see, I'm drinking spam spam.
- 2:08Speaker 4: One time, I used to have a music interview show
- 2:11Speaker 4: where we would interview bands and we were hanging out
- 2:13Speaker 4: at a at a we were hanging out at a
- 2:18Speaker 4: at a music concert or like a festival. There was
- 2:21Speaker 4: an energy drink festival. What was the name of it,
- 2:25Speaker 4: Red Bull Energy Drink Festival. Yeah, so whatever, So we're
- 2:28Speaker 4: around and we're noticing that there there's all these red
- 2:31Speaker 4: bulls everywhere, like for the bands. And it's different, a
- 2:35Speaker 4: different colored can than I've ever seen before. At the time,
- 2:38Speaker 4: it was like a white can that didn't exist. And
- 2:41Speaker 4: I picked one up and it says contains water inside.
- 2:44Speaker 4: And so we're interview one of the bands and I'm
- 2:46Speaker 4: asking them, I'm like, let's up with this. Why why
- 2:48Speaker 4: are there red bull cans with water? And he goes, oh,
- 2:51Speaker 4: it's because last year when we did this festival, everybody
- 2:55Speaker 4: nearly had heart attacks drinking red bulls backstage because they
- 2:59Speaker 4: were everywhere so nice.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I don't know why I'm still alive, because like, you know,
- 3:05Speaker 3: we would we would be driving down the road in
- 3:07Speaker 3: Iraq and I'd have like one of these in one
- 3:09Speaker 3: hand and a cigarette in the other and a chew
- 3:11Speaker 3: in my mouth and like coffee.
- 3:14Speaker 8: Man.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Oh yeah, all the stimulants, all the stimulants you could
- 3:17Speaker 3: possibly think of it.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I don't. I don't smoke or chew anymore. I have.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I quit it back like fifteen years ago.
- 3:22Speaker 5: But me too, Me too. I used to work in midnights.
- 3:27Speaker 7: Oh man, coffee, you know, four or five coffees and
- 3:31Speaker 7: a and a pack of smokes keep me away.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Wow.
- 3:34Speaker 5: I felt like I felt like garbage the next morning.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, got through the night.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go, there you go. Yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So welcome to Addiction Cast.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Well yeah, well vice Cast, Yes, I too. Just you
- 3:51Speaker 5: know loose wimmen, you know you name it, everything everything.
- 3:57Speaker 4: All the things.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Oh boy, what else is going on? Daniel?
- 4:06Speaker 4: You know there's some Star Trek news and we're gonna
- 4:08Speaker 4: be talking about a movie.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Cool?
- 4:10Speaker 4: Yeah? Should should we get to the Star Trek News.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Sure we better, yeah, Star Trek News.
- 4:19Speaker 4: All right, so yeah, our first bit of Star Trek
- 4:23Speaker 4: News comes to us from a what is his name?
- 4:26Speaker 4: K A T. Kot And yeah, so recently a jury
- 4:33Speaker 4: awarded thirteen million dollars to the family of Nachelle Nichols. So,
- 4:41Speaker 4: if you remember, she passed away not that long ago,
- 4:44Speaker 4: and apparently the family sued the Gila Medical Center in
- 4:51Speaker 4: a wrongful death lawsuit, and just recently a jury awarded
- 4:55Speaker 4: that family thirteen million dollars. Apparently they're saying that the uh,
- 5:01Speaker 4: the medical company or medical center didn't treat a heart
- 5:05Speaker 4: condition of her as well, and that led to her
- 5:08Speaker 4: death at a retirement home.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So that pretty good lawyering. Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Yeah, she was pretty pretty elderly at that point.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 7: I purposely did not read any of these articles. Yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 7: because I also know in the last few years of
- 5:29Speaker 7: her life there were essentially like custody battles for her
- 5:37Speaker 7: and conservatorship or yes, she had a conservatorship and she
- 5:43Speaker 7: was fighting against her family.
- 5:46Speaker 5: Yeah, And so you know, when I saw that.
- 5:49Speaker 7: Her family sued someone for wrongful death, I'm like this,
- 5:52Speaker 7: this is messy, and I just don't have the energy
- 5:55Speaker 7: to read this and then read four other articles about
- 6:00Speaker 7: it to try and get to the bottom of what's
- 6:01Speaker 7: really happening.
- 6:03Speaker 4: So yeah, and I didn't either, so i'thing like I'm
- 6:06Speaker 4: just gonna give the highlights and that'll be it. So yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 4: so thirteen million dollar lawsuit.
- 6:12Speaker 5: That she was mean to me once in an elevator,
- 6:14Speaker 5: so oh yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Really, I met her in Grand at a Grand Rabbit's
- 6:19Speaker 3: comic cod one time. I didn't meet her, but I
- 6:21Speaker 3: saw a panel she was she was doing so.
- 6:23Speaker 7: Oh no, no, no, no, on stage fantastic in the elevator.
- 6:31Speaker 4: I mean a person's mood does go up and down
- 6:33Speaker 4: in the elevator.
- 6:33Speaker 5: That's true. Everything goes up and down in the.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Elevator, all right, But yeah, so there you go. Our
- 6:44Speaker 4: next news story comes to us from Polygon, and you
- 6:46Speaker 4: know what, that's actually gives me an opportunity to play this.
- 6:54Speaker 4: So we're talking a little bit about Paramount. Yes, yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 4: and here we go. Paramount has announced a new game
- 7:04Speaker 4: of Studio and it's about to get very serious apparently.
- 7:09Speaker 4: So I don't know if you saw. I guess yesterday
- 7:10Speaker 4: was some sort of the summer game fest they got
- 7:15Speaker 4: some trailers. As Paramount announced and gave some previews for
- 7:19Speaker 4: their upcoming gaming studio. They announced a trailer or they
- 7:23Speaker 4: showed a trailer for an upcoming Ninja Turtle game and
- 7:27Speaker 4: the last ronin if you're familiar with that one. Yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 4: and then they also later released a trailer for an
- 7:35Speaker 4: upcoming Star Trek game. The show or the game will
- 7:40Speaker 4: be called Star Trek Shadow Frontier. And did you guys
- 7:45Speaker 4: see the trailer? I posted it in our in.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Our Facebook I just did about an hour ago.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, So, Dan, if I told you, do you
- 7:55Speaker 4: want to play a Star Trek game based on from
- 7:57Speaker 4: the same studio that created The Hill to remake, I
- 8:02Speaker 4: don't know if you're familiar with Silent Hill.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Uh, is that like a like a first person like
- 8:07Speaker 5: Haunted House or Horror?
- 8:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that that studio will be doing a Star Trek game. Okay,
- 8:17Speaker 4: what do you just initial impressions those two combinations?
- 8:21Speaker 7: Well, whenever I, uh negotiate a diplomatic solution to an
- 8:27Speaker 7: interstellar crisis, I always like to do it in a
- 8:29Speaker 7: first person format, So right from whenever, whenever I try
- 8:37Speaker 7: to do some emergency research to cure a plague on
- 8:42Speaker 7: a Federation affiliated planet. First person always do a first person.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Yet, that's right, that's right, Yeah, it doesn't, got it.
- 8:51Speaker 7: Trade negotiations always go best first person.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks like it's going to be some sort
- 9:01Speaker 4: of survival horror in space through a first person shooter.
- 9:06Speaker 4: It looks like kind of. But the big twist on
- 9:09Speaker 4: the trailer is who the character is. It looks like
- 9:12Speaker 4: that you will be playing as Roe Laren. She's dead,
- 9:19Speaker 4: She's gonna be in this video game.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You're not thinking four dimensionally.
- 9:22Speaker 4: That's right, that's right. Well, we don't know where on
- 9:26Speaker 4: the timeline it's said either. So yeah, so is what I.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Think of Star Trek I think of Silent.
- 9:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna get this game and I'm going to watch
- 9:38Speaker 3: my wife play it.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Oh really yeah, get into that kind of stuff.
- 9:44Speaker 4: I'm I'm not okay, Yeah, I'm not a I'm not
- 9:49Speaker 4: a big gamer. But there you go. So I don't
- 9:52Speaker 4: know when this is coming out, but the trailer just
- 9:55Speaker 4: came out, So there you go. And then but if
- 9:58Speaker 4: you cannot wait for a new Star Trek game, don't
- 10:00Speaker 4: you worry. A new one is right around the corner.
- 10:04Speaker 4: This is coming to us from Red Shirts. Always die,
- 10:07Speaker 4: Get your Steam account ready to go. A new Star
- 10:11Speaker 4: Trek collectible card game is on its way. It's gonna
- 10:15Speaker 4: be called Star Trek Warp and so it's like one
- 10:18Speaker 4: of these like Pokemon Magic the Gathering where you collect
- 10:22Speaker 4: cards online and then you battle your cards. They're gonna
- 10:26Speaker 4: have a bunch of different ships and characters and all that.
- 10:30Speaker 4: The game is scheduled to come out sometime next week.
- 10:33Speaker 4: So this game, Star Trek Warp is available for wish
- 10:37Speaker 4: listing on Steam so that you can get it when
- 10:41Speaker 4: it comes right out, so if you gotta Steam, and
- 10:45Speaker 4: it's free. So it's one of those like freemium games
- 10:49Speaker 4: where the game is free, but if you want to
- 10:51Speaker 4: like do all the upgrades, you pay you know, micro transactions.
- 10:54Speaker 1: So yep.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh Dan's playing with backgrounds because his headst it disappearing.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Oh I forgot that that happens. Yeah, never mind, this
- 11:06Speaker 5: never works out.
- 11:10Speaker 4: So there you go. That's that's all the news stories.
- 11:12Speaker 1: So, oh my goodness, you guys.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Are gonna play the online card game starty card game.
- 11:20Speaker 1: No, I got a job.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know I tried playing that that Voyager game.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah I haven't. I haven't played it. Since we talked
- 11:28Speaker 1: last about it.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's it's too much like math and work. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 3: I don't, you know, I'm not good at the whole
- 11:40Speaker 3: you know, resource kind of play games.
- 11:44Speaker 7: You know, those are my games, man, My my my
- 11:46Speaker 7: gaming at this point in my life, my gaming is Okay.
- 11:50Speaker 7: I woke up five minutes ago. I got about ten
- 11:54Speaker 7: minutes to drink this cup of coffee, and I don't
- 11:56Speaker 7: just want to stare at the wall while I do it,
- 12:00Speaker 7: So I throw birds at fragile buildings.
- 12:03Speaker 4: That's it.
- 12:04Speaker 5: That's it.
- 12:04Speaker 1: That's my crushed candy.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Yeah, yep, yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 7: Sometimes those buildings are Star Wars themed spaceships or space nations.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Fine, cool, we could do that, but that's it. The
- 12:18Speaker 5: days of.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Sitting on the couch.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I dowered, yes, because I don't have three hour
- 12:24Speaker 3: that yeah, yeah right.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I I recently got the uh the what is it?
- 12:30Speaker 4: Marvel Cosmic whatever. It's a side scrolling beat them up
- 12:34Speaker 4: that you can just download. I don't I don't even
- 12:36Speaker 4: think they make physical copies of it, and uh, it's
- 12:39Speaker 4: one of those like I play it for twenty minutes,
- 12:41Speaker 4: I'm done. I'll play it again maybe in a week,
- 12:43Speaker 4: you know.
- 12:44Speaker 7: Yeah, and at the same time, there is a side
- 12:47Speaker 7: scrolling beat them up game. I'll lah Golden Axe that's
- 12:51Speaker 7: supposed to be coming out Masters.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Of the Universe.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Yeah, the Dragon Pearl.
- 12:57Speaker 7: Yes, And it keeps getting pushed back and pushed back
- 12:59Speaker 7: and pushed back.
- 13:00Speaker 1: In the last time, it was like the genis the
- 13:02Speaker 1: Sega game.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Yep, yeah, yep, yeah.
- 13:05Speaker 4: The video got the Marvel when I was my understanding.
- 13:09Speaker 7: And the last time they pushed it back they said
- 13:12Speaker 7: summer twenty twenty six, and I'm like, okay, they're doing
- 13:16Speaker 7: that to align with the movie, and they did not.
- 13:20Speaker 7: The movie came out and the game is still not out,
- 13:23Speaker 7: and it's like, what do you what are you doing?
- 13:25Speaker 7: And you've got a major motion picture coming out? Why
- 13:28Speaker 7: are you not jumping on this, especially when the game
- 13:30Speaker 7: was supposed to be ready six months ago? Yeah, you know,
- 13:33Speaker 7: it's a it's a Sega Genesis game.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Poured it over to a Nintendo Switch. How does it
- 13:39Speaker 5: take three years to develop this game?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:42Speaker 5: This this should be This should have been done in
- 13:44Speaker 5: like a week.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Yeah, seriously, yeah, we have.
- 13:52Speaker 7: We have computer programmers losing their jobs right now because
- 13:55Speaker 7: AI can do in a week what it took them
- 13:58Speaker 7: six months to do. How is this game not out yet?
- 14:01Speaker 1: Oh?
- 14:01Speaker 5: Yeah, so I don't know absolutely.
- 14:06Speaker 7: But when I was actually that's when I was actually
- 14:09Speaker 7: looking forward to coming out.
- 14:10Speaker 5: I would actually buy that one. I would sit down
- 14:12Speaker 5: and play it.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Uh.
- 14:14Speaker 7: My daughter is very into the filmation he Man Show
- 14:17Speaker 7: right now. The game is the game is based specifically
- 14:21Speaker 7: on the show version of all these characters. So I'm
- 14:25Speaker 7: looking forward to that. And I don't know, I don't
- 14:28Speaker 7: even know if.
- 14:29Speaker 5: It's really coming out at this point anymore.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't know.
- 14:34Speaker 4: We don't know at all. But yeah, I'm looking forward
- 14:36Speaker 4: to that game. I like, I like beat them up,
- 14:38Speaker 4: side scrolling beat them up.
- 14:39Speaker 7: So yeah, I'm looking forward to playing the video game
- 14:42Speaker 7: with my with my my my son does a lot
- 14:46Speaker 7: of gaming, she doesn't do a lot of gaming, but
- 14:48Speaker 7: she's excited about this one too.
- 14:49Speaker 4: So oh well, if I was wondering, how come they
- 14:51Speaker 4: wasn't any new he Man games? Yeah, there's not like
- 14:54Speaker 4: there's it's not like there's very many he Man games period.
- 14:58Speaker 4: So are there a terrible one Atari games?
- 15:03Speaker 1: Oh?
- 15:03Speaker 4: I know there's one an Atari and there was one
- 15:05Speaker 4: like on a game boy.
- 15:06Speaker 7: And television had one too. Yeah, it was awful, but
- 15:10Speaker 7: then again.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Everything on television was one game.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Yeah, very few human games. All right, well, should we
- 15:18Speaker 4: get to it? Should we get to the main topic,
- 15:20Speaker 4: let's do it?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Heck yeah, fun will now comments.
- 15:29Speaker 3: All right, I have a little bit of show and
- 15:32Speaker 3: tell before we go topic. I would like I would
- 15:36Speaker 3: like to show something to you guys.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Yes, yes, this.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Is literally.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Forty years old and I've had ever since I was
- 15:49Speaker 3: in grade school and it was my very first one.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Oh man, this is a Masters of the Year.
- 15:58Speaker 3: From like nineteen eighty six, plastic lunch box. And wait
- 16:05Speaker 3: there's more, and it still has thermos.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Inside.
- 16:17Speaker 3: There's a picture of me and my dad at elementary
- 16:23Speaker 3: school where I used to bring this. So I have
- 16:27Speaker 3: this displayed in in our kitchen above the cabinets. I
- 16:32Speaker 3: have all like the popcorn buckets and stuff that I've
- 16:35Speaker 3: gotten over the years.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And uh, this is uh this is in there.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Nice.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I thought I would topic relevant.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Yeah, well that's good, very cool. Yeah, I mean I
- 16:50Speaker 4: I did get a cup from the movie so they
- 16:57Speaker 4: didn't have the popcorn bucket I wanted.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Which didn't have popcorn buckets.
- 17:02Speaker 4: I just want a tin one. It's a it's a
- 17:03Speaker 4: tin one that has all the new characters. But it's
- 17:06Speaker 4: it's cartoony looking and uh I looked it up. Apparently
- 17:10Speaker 4: it's only from Cinemark. So if I want it, because
- 17:13Speaker 4: we don't have Cinemark here, I'm gonna have to get
- 17:15Speaker 4: it online or eBay or something. Okay, hey Wolf, about
- 17:20Speaker 4: your about your uh lunch pail that belongs in the museum.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Nice, I know, right, Yeah, that's awesome cool.

- 17:38Speaker 4: we've been waiting for this thing a while, you know, Amazon,
- 17:41Speaker 4: It's been floating around Hollywood for quite a long time.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah, we've been had a different character or a
- 17:46Speaker 4: different actor announced as he Man not that long ago.
- 17:48Speaker 7: That's right, that's right, Noah Celentano. Yeah, if you don't
- 17:53Speaker 7: know him, he was in Black Adam. He played as
- 17:56Speaker 7: Adam Smeasher.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's doing some like spy show now, I think,
- 18:02Speaker 4: but whatever. Yeah, but instead we ended up getting Nicholas Galazini.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Is ore he Man Galaxy and I'm not sure how
- 18:12Speaker 5: to say.
- 18:12Speaker 4: I'm not sure either, Yeah yeah, yeah, but these are
- 18:15Speaker 4: he Man and uh, it's out finally, it's finally out.
- 18:20Speaker 5: It's out. We went six pm. We went to six

- 18:25Speaker 4: Okay.
- 18:25Speaker 7: I came home from work. I kicked around for a
- 18:27Speaker 7: little while, and then through the wife and the kids
- 18:29Speaker 7: in the car and all four of us went to
- 18:31Speaker 7: see went to see Masters of the Universe.
- 18:35Speaker 4: And uh, how packed was your theater?
- 18:39Speaker 5: It was not?
- 18:40Speaker 1: Okay, it was not fact there was eight people in mind.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and I went on seven, seven to ten on
- 18:45Speaker 3: a Friday by myself. I looked at my kids and
- 18:49Speaker 3: I'm like, do you guys want to go see Masses
- 18:51Speaker 3: of the Universe.
- 18:52Speaker 1: They're like not really.
- 18:54Speaker 3: And my wife is like, you can go by yourself
- 18:56Speaker 3: if you want. I don't here, and I'm like, I'm
- 18:59Speaker 3: gonna go by myself. I'm the kind of man that
- 19:01Speaker 3: I'm comfortable going to see a movie by myself.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Same.
- 19:03Speaker 7: So this movie, this movie is about fifteen years too late.
- 19:09Speaker 5: Yes, that's that's one of the that's one of.
- 19:12Speaker 7: The problems the the nostalgia cycle for nineteen eighties. It's
- 19:21Speaker 7: not over, but it's on the it's on the downward
- 19:23Speaker 7: trend right the nineties. The nineties, kids are in their
- 19:29Speaker 7: thirties now, just with disposable income, for the first time
- 19:33Speaker 7: and rediscovering, you know, the things they had as a child.
- 19:38Speaker 7: You guys know, on the side, I buy and buy,
- 19:40Speaker 7: sell and trade vintage toys, and you know, my niche
- 19:45Speaker 7: is nineteen eighty stuff because that's that's when I was
- 19:48Speaker 7: a kid, And the stuff that I buy to keep
- 19:51Speaker 7: for myself is from that era. Because people buy these
- 19:54Speaker 7: things because it reminds them of a of a simpler
- 19:56Speaker 7: time when when things were easier and they didn't have
- 19:59Speaker 7: all these cares in the world. I'm finding myself having
- 20:03Speaker 7: to learn about these nineties and early two thousands twice
- 20:10Speaker 7: that you know, I don't know what this is. I
- 20:11Speaker 7: didn't played this shit. I was I was at work
- 20:13Speaker 7: when this, when this, I was in college when when
- 20:17Speaker 7: this happened. But that stuff has value now. So if
- 20:20Speaker 7: I want to keep doing what I'm doing, I have
- 20:22Speaker 7: to I have to learn. I got to learn about
- 20:25Speaker 7: power Rangers. Power Rangers were after me. Yeah, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 7: and I laughed, because it's not going to be too
- 20:32Speaker 7: long until the stuff that my son played with.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Is going someone's going to be nostalgic for that.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say, give it like five years,
- 20:42Speaker 4: we'll get a Ben Ten movie.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Well, if you think about it, yeah, Ben Ten, exactly. Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 7: But if you think about it, Transformers, the Michael Bay
- 20:53Speaker 7: Transformers movies came out in two thousand and seven, two
- 21:01Speaker 7: thousand and seven. Not only did that appeal to people
- 21:07Speaker 7: our age who were nostalgic for that at the time,
- 21:11Speaker 7: but it created a whole new generation of fans, and
- 21:16Speaker 7: Transformers is still going strong today. They still sell those things,
- 21:21Speaker 7: not like they had been, but you know, it's been
- 21:23Speaker 7: a couple of movies, a couple of years since the
- 21:25Speaker 7: movie came out, Masters of the Universe, if they you know, there.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Were a couple of revivals.
- 21:33Speaker 7: Two thousand and two, there was a there was a
- 21:35Speaker 7: cartoon on Cartoon Network that was mildly successful and they
- 21:40Speaker 7: sold a bunch of a bunch of toys with it,
- 21:42Speaker 7: but they never recaptured what they had in the in
- 21:45Speaker 7: the eighties. But if a major motion picture had come
- 21:48Speaker 7: out at the time and the people who were watching
- 21:52Speaker 7: that new show also went to the theater, the people
- 21:55Speaker 7: who were buying those toys also went to the theater and
- 21:58Speaker 7: brought their kids.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:03Speaker 4: If this movie had come out like two thousand and five,
- 22:05Speaker 4: ten ish, yep, it would have been the perfect spot
- 22:07Speaker 4: for it.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Yeah, yep, yep, yeah, yep. But that being said, I
- 22:15Speaker 5: enjoyed it.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 5: It was a It was a fun movie. Yeah, I
- 22:20Speaker 5: liked it a lot.
- 22:21Speaker 7: My kids liked it because they were because they were
- 22:25Speaker 7: there seeing it. Right, other people's kids don't know about
- 22:29Speaker 7: it because they weren't there seeing it, because there wasn't
- 22:31Speaker 7: someone taking them to it. You know, there's the kids
- 22:35Speaker 7: aren't saying. The kids aren't tugging on dad's sleeve this
- 22:39Speaker 7: weekend and saying, hey, Dad, there's this movie called Masters
- 22:42Speaker 7: of the Universe. Can we go see that? Sure, I'll
- 22:44Speaker 7: take a seat Masters. Nope, it's going the other way. Hey,
- 22:46Speaker 7: you want to go see Masters the Universe? And some
- 22:48Speaker 7: of them are saying yes, some of them are saying no,
- 22:51Speaker 7: and yeah yeah yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 3: My kids were like, you know, I fourteen and twenty
- 22:56Speaker 3: and they were like, I've heard of he Man, but
- 23:00Speaker 3: you know I've never seen it.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yeah, don't care to see it.
- 23:03Speaker 7: You know, Well, my kids are aware of it because
- 23:07Speaker 7: when they were well my daughter is still little. Yeah,
- 23:10Speaker 7: well my son was my daughter's age. I introduced him
- 23:13Speaker 7: to it. And you know, when they're that young, they
- 23:16Speaker 7: will play with what you give them. Like people say, oh, kids,
- 23:20Speaker 7: kids only play with iPads. Now, it's because you gave
- 23:22Speaker 7: him an iPad, Right, that's on you. That's not on
- 23:26Speaker 7: the kid, that's not on society. That's on you. You
- 23:29Speaker 7: gave them that thing. Everything they have in this world
- 23:32Speaker 7: they have because you gave it to them, or because
- 23:34Speaker 7: you allowed them to have it.
- 23:36Speaker 5: So you know, my.
- 23:37Speaker 7: Kids, I exposed them to he Man and g I
- 23:39Speaker 7: Joe and Transformers and they know these characters.
- 23:43Speaker 5: So they enjoyed this film.
- 23:45Speaker 7: Right, other kids might not have the same reaction to it,
- 23:52Speaker 7: or or no reaction to it because they're not going
- 23:54Speaker 7: to be exposed to it.
- 23:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Of the eight people that were in the theater,
- 23:58Speaker 1: there was only one child. She was with her dad.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and she was about eight or nine years old,
- 24:05Speaker 3: and she thought it was fun, just because you know,
- 24:07Speaker 3: there's there's fun things going on.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Yeah. There was eight people in my theater as well,
- 24:14Speaker 4: including my friend and myself and zero children. Yeah, it
- 24:19Speaker 4: was all like forty year old dudes.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:21Speaker 4: Yeah, wait to watch this movie.
- 24:25Speaker 5: The only thing that might save it.
- 24:28Speaker 7: And I'm gonna date myself here and I'm gonna call
- 24:30Speaker 7: myself old maybe some of us are taking our grandkids
- 24:35Speaker 7: to see it.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, well it in You know, it's not a
- 24:43Speaker 4: perfect movie, but it's a fun movie.
- 24:45Speaker 5: It is. It's definitely not perfect, but it is very fun.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:51Speaker 5: It's a classic hero story. You know, it's light. It
- 24:59Speaker 5: doesn't take the or too seriously. It pokes fun to
- 25:04Speaker 5: serious at all.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Yeah. I think that's one of my critiques of it
- 25:10Speaker 4: is it's almost jokey to a fault in my respective.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Well, I mean.
- 25:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I think the fisto jokes got a little old.
- 25:24Speaker 5: Yeah, after a while, I get it. I get it.
- 25:28Speaker 7: You're trying to make a risk a joke disguised as
- 25:34Speaker 7: a not risk a joke.
- 25:36Speaker 5: I get it.
- 25:37Speaker 7: Yeah, it was funny once mm hmm, maybe twice. They
- 25:42Speaker 7: did it like five times. It's like, all right, we
- 25:44Speaker 7: get it. It's named after sex acts, we get it. Yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 7: but wait, what enough?
- 25:50Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 25:52Speaker 5: Yeah, don't you're not going to make me explain this, No.
- 25:54Speaker 4: No, no, no no, no, let's.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Get into the movie.
- 25:59Speaker 5: You could. You could google fisting later direct.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Do not google that, direct this direct.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Do google that.
- 26:07Speaker 5: Don't use the word don't use the word computer.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Directed by Travis Knight, written by Chris Butler and Aaron
- 26:16Speaker 3: me It's right now.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It is sitting at a sixty six.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Percent on Rotten Tomatoes with an eighty seven percent popcorn meter,
- 26:25Speaker 3: So the general general pop is wating it eighty seven percent,
- 26:29Speaker 3: which I think is kind of high.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Oh, this is this is an interesting question from a wolf.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Compared to previous live action movie? Better, same level or
- 26:38Speaker 4: what the Oh.
- 26:41Speaker 7: It's absolutely better than nineteen eighty seven one. Absolutely, it's
- 26:44Speaker 7: a thousand, one thousand.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I wish that I wish that my boy Robbie had
- 26:51Speaker 1: a cameo in it.
- 26:52Speaker 5: You know, I was, I was, I was thinking like
- 26:56Speaker 5: it would have been.
- 26:57Speaker 7: It would have been so cool if like Dolph Lung,
- 27:03Speaker 7: like just Dolph Lungern's talking to him in the gym, right,
- 27:07Speaker 7: and at one point there's music blaring in the background
- 27:10Speaker 7: and he just turns as Kevin, can you lower that please?
- 27:12Speaker 5: I'm talking to somebody, and.
- 27:14Speaker 7: There's Robert duncan McDill just like turns the radio down.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Oh, that would have been great.
- 27:21Speaker 7: Robbie mcdunk Scott's buddy. Yeah, why didn't you make that happen?
- 27:25Speaker 1: Right? I you know I should have. I feel like
- 27:28Speaker 1: I let everybody down.
- 27:30Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, No, it was cool seeing Dolph Lunger. And
- 27:33Speaker 7: it was cool that they slipped in the the line
- 27:37Speaker 7: good journey. Yes, there was another there was another reference
- 27:41Speaker 7: to the nineteen eighty seven film.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Do you uh? Did you catch it?
- 27:46Speaker 4: I'm not sure what are you talking about?
- 27:48Speaker 7: The holographic skeletor in this guy? Oh, yes, yes, that
- 27:52Speaker 7: is that is straight out of the eighty seven that's
- 27:55Speaker 7: straight out of the eighty seven film.
- 27:57Speaker 4: That's right, that's right.
- 27:58Speaker 7: There were a lot of There were a lot of
- 28:00Speaker 7: different callbacks to different aspects of the lore all the
- 28:07Speaker 7: and I think I talked about this in our trailer review.
- 28:10Speaker 7: A lot of the toys in the toy shop from
- 28:12Speaker 7: a line called Big Gym, which shared a bunch of
- 28:15Speaker 7: molds with Master's Universe, which is why some of the
- 28:19Speaker 7: mold marks on the animal characters are nineteen seventy three
- 28:23Speaker 7: not nineteen eighty one, matching.
- 28:26Speaker 5: All the rest of the toys. So that was that
- 28:30Speaker 5: was cool that they work that in there. Yeah. I
- 28:35Speaker 5: liked it.
- 28:35Speaker 7: The action was good. I thought they did a good
- 28:38Speaker 7: job of modernizing it a little bit. He was wearing pink,
- 28:46Speaker 7: but it's because he was wearing a pink dress shirt.
- 28:49Speaker 4: That's right, because he works in hr yep.
- 28:52Speaker 7: And in the end, in the end, when he's got
- 28:54Speaker 7: his classic Prince Adam outfit, it's not pink. It's more
- 28:58Speaker 7: of a maroon, is what they did in later versions
- 29:02Speaker 7: of the character.
- 29:03Speaker 5: And it's it's.
- 29:04Speaker 7: Kind of like the same thing they did with Captain America. Like, Okay,
- 29:08Speaker 7: it's the nineteen forties, you're working for the USO or
- 29:11Speaker 7: whatever you're doing the USO shows, You're gonna wear the
- 29:15Speaker 7: classic Captain America uniform and we know it looks silly,
- 29:18Speaker 7: but it's meant to look a little bit silly.
- 29:20Speaker 5: And then later on this is what you really wear, right, Yeah,
- 29:24Speaker 5: So I enjoyed that.
- 29:27Speaker 4: I so spoilers clearly because yeah, yeah, spoilers. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 4: for sure. I like what they did with the names
- 29:34Speaker 4: of the characters, that they were all based off of
- 29:37Speaker 4: his childhood memory. Yes, that's none of their real names,
- 29:41Speaker 4: and that was.
- 29:42Speaker 7: A great way to work around the fact that the
- 29:44Speaker 7: name the names are dumb.
- 29:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, the names are dumb.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Oh that's a trap jaw, Yeah, yeah, what do you
- 29:53Speaker 4: name yourself?
- 29:54Speaker 7: He man, And even at the end when he told
- 29:59Speaker 7: Tila he referred to her as Warrior Goddess. The original package,
- 30:06Speaker 7: her name was Tila and underneath it said Warrior Goddess. Right,
- 30:09Speaker 7: so that's that's straight out of the lure as well. Yeah, yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 7: the jokes were, The jokes were, okay. I was a
- 30:20Speaker 7: little disappointed some of the language that they used. It's like,
- 30:27Speaker 7: come on, man, this is this is based on a
- 30:30Speaker 7: toy that was developed for six year olds, and you're
- 30:33Speaker 7: and you're hoping that people will bring their six year
- 30:36Speaker 7: olds to the show so that you can sell toys
- 30:39Speaker 7: to a new generation of kids. It's not necessary. It's
- 30:45Speaker 7: not necessary. The one that really bugged me is when
- 30:50Speaker 7: Tila called Kraner a pussy Yeah, that's just that was
- 30:56Speaker 7: uncalled for. It was unnecessary. You could have had you
- 31:01Speaker 7: could have had the same scene. She could have called
- 31:04Speaker 7: him a pussy cat and a freddy cat. Yeah, freddy cat,
- 31:09Speaker 7: a pussy cat, and then you know, showing how okay,
- 31:13Speaker 7: so we know Adam is kind of a gentle character
- 31:17Speaker 7: as opposed to his alter ego he man. You know,
- 31:21Speaker 7: so she calls him a pussy cat or a freddy cat,
- 31:23Speaker 7: and Adam scratches, he's not He's a battle cat. Right
- 31:28Speaker 7: that that scene would have the same way. It would
- 31:31Speaker 7: have been just as funny. Yeah, you know, the joke
- 31:34Speaker 7: would have been Adam's interaction with Kringer after he's been
- 31:39Speaker 7: insulted by her, not the focus would have been that
- 31:44Speaker 7: instead of her calling uh, calling him that name, plus
- 31:48Speaker 7: plus a woman calling someone that.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Yeah, it was.
- 31:58Speaker 7: Thankfully, Thankfully it went right over my daughter's head because
- 32:01Speaker 7: I did not look forward to explaining that to her.
- 32:08Speaker 4: I think one of my things for this movie that
- 32:13Speaker 4: I think could have tweaked and would have been better
- 32:17Speaker 4: is so they go on to say that Adam's basically
- 32:21Speaker 4: superpower is his empathy and his compassion and all that.
- 32:25Speaker 5: But and then he's and then he rips that guy's
- 32:27Speaker 5: horn out and steps.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Right and steps in the neck. Yes, yes, like like
- 32:31Speaker 4: a compassionate person would do. That's right. I think that
- 32:35Speaker 4: they could have had that. But I think really what
- 32:38Speaker 4: his thing could have been is that he inspires people
- 32:41Speaker 4: to be better, and so like similar to that scene
- 32:45Speaker 4: you're talking about where he's like, oh, you're a Freddy cat, No,
- 32:48Speaker 4: you're my battle cat, and then like Pritchard's like, yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 4: yeah I can do.
- 32:51Speaker 5: This, Yeah, yeah, I could be a battle Cat.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Yeah, like something like that, and then you could have
- 32:56Speaker 4: the same arc with Man at Arms that you had.
- 32:59Speaker 4: But then as he sees Adam still moving and still
- 33:03Speaker 4: you know, progressing, that inspires him to get better. So
- 33:07Speaker 4: that's the thing about he man. He shares his power.
- 33:10Speaker 4: He makes you feel better.
- 33:12Speaker 1: You know.
- 33:14Speaker 4: A wolf was asking was there a lot of Easter eggs? Yeah,
- 33:17Speaker 4: pretty much, there were.
- 33:19Speaker 7: There were there were tons of Easter There were tons
- 33:22Speaker 7: of Easter eggs. There were so many of them, like,
- 33:24Speaker 7: I'm sure I missed I'm sure I missed some of
- 33:26Speaker 7: the I'm sure you got some of them. You want
- 33:30Speaker 7: to rattle you want to rattle some off and see
- 33:32Speaker 7: see who? Uh who picked up what?
- 33:35Speaker 4: Yeah, go for it, go for it.
- 33:40Speaker 7: I think it was his friend on Earth who was
- 33:43Speaker 7: making fun of him, drawing everybody super muscular.
- 33:47Speaker 5: Yeah, that is that is a callback to the fact.
- 33:53Speaker 7: That the original toy line only had two sculpts. Yea
- 33:57Speaker 7: for the for the chest, there was the muscular one
- 34:01Speaker 7: that's smooth and the muscular one with hair on it.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yeah, the and.
- 34:09Speaker 7: Really like the whole toy line, there were there were
- 34:11Speaker 7: there were three three arm sculpts. You had regular arms.
- 34:15Speaker 7: You had monster arms, and then you had beast arms.
- 34:18Speaker 7: This I'm talking about the first.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Wave later stuff.
- 34:21Speaker 5: The legs you had, you had.
- 34:22Speaker 7: Regular legs, he Man's legs, Uh, Skeletor's legs and beast
- 34:28Speaker 7: Man's legs and swap swapped them all around.
- 34:31Speaker 5: You know. Beast Man and Stratos had.
- 34:32Speaker 7: The same legs and the same chests and this and
- 34:34Speaker 7: the same arms. Skeletor and Zodiac had the the same
- 34:38Speaker 7: arms and legs. They had the same chest as he Man.
- 34:41Speaker 7: So it was all everybody. Everybody was buff.
- 34:44Speaker 5: But it's also a callback to the type.
- 34:46Speaker 7: Of animation that they did at filmation where it was rotoscoping.
- 34:50Speaker 7: They took video of actual people moving and then traced
- 34:55Speaker 7: and then traced over it. So that's why, even as
- 34:57Speaker 7: a kid, I would watch that show and I wouldn'
- 35:00Speaker 7: notice repetitive motion all the time. When he Man walks
- 35:02Speaker 7: into frame, he always looks like this and he turns
- 35:05Speaker 7: and he and he walks out, And yes, that's exactly
- 35:11Speaker 7: what always you make it cheap and quick. Uh, when
- 35:14Speaker 7: they're all standing around laughing and they yeah, there they
- 35:17Speaker 7: have their hands on their.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Shows and they're gone, just like the show.
- 35:21Speaker 7: But it was that's because they rotoscoped that in nineteen
- 35:25Speaker 7: eighty one and they reused it over and over and
- 35:27Speaker 7: over again.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Or when he when he gets his sword, the big statue,
- 35:31Speaker 4: that's the original concept design of he Man.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Yes, oh, okay, okay, yep.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, no, there was. There's a ton of easter.
- 35:44Speaker 8: The meme the meme with with Adam laughing, Oh yes, yes,
- 35:50Speaker 8: yeah when they go to attorney, So the meme has
- 35:52Speaker 8: Adam laughing and there's like rainbows and stuff behind him,
- 35:56Speaker 8: and right, is that what the meme?
- 35:57Speaker 5: It's like rainbow background. Yeah, so when they go when.
- 36:03Speaker 4: They did that, that song that from that meme is
- 36:06Speaker 4: oh yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, hey what's going on?
- 36:11Speaker 5: And uh yeah, but the when they go to warp speed,
- 36:16Speaker 5: it's like a rainbow effect.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Which is from the meme.
- 36:20Speaker 5: Yeah, yep, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 4: They even the Queen's song Princess of the Universe. Wasn't
- 36:30Speaker 4: that originally supposed to be in the he Man movie
- 36:32Speaker 4: and they used it in this one that I don't know.
- 36:37Speaker 4: I think that was the case, but I don't, I
- 36:39Speaker 4: don't know for sure. M h yeah, huh.
- 36:44Speaker 7: At the end, when uh he goes running off to
- 36:49Speaker 7: transform and they're like, does he not know that we
- 36:52Speaker 7: all know who he is. I mean, that's that's a
- 36:55Speaker 7: callback to the fact that Adam and he Man on
- 36:59Speaker 7: the original ship. Oh look exactly the same, except exactly
- 37:02Speaker 7: except he Man spent some time in a tanning booths.
- 37:05Speaker 5: That's the only difference. Yeah.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Well, and that's the thing. They're not gonna have a
- 37:10Speaker 4: secret identity if they get a sequel. Yeah, which it's
- 37:14Speaker 4: not looking great that they're going to get a sequel.
- 37:18Speaker 7: Well, I think it depends on the on how they
- 37:20Speaker 7: do with merchandising.
- 37:22Speaker 4: Yeah, that'll be the big jundizing. Yes, yeah, and you
- 37:29Speaker 4: know Amazon's about that money.
- 37:31Speaker 5: So yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 3: I didn't even know it was an Amazon original movie
- 37:37Speaker 3: or an Amazon movie until the credits rolled.
- 37:39Speaker 1: I didn't realize it.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Oh you didn't realize it when the Amazon truck.
- 37:42Speaker 1: No hit that dude, And yes, I caught that. I'm like, oh,
- 37:46Speaker 1: it's a truck, Yeah there was.
- 37:49Speaker 3: It was like me and the guy with the daughter
- 37:51Speaker 3: was the only one that was laughing and going oh yeah,
- 37:54Speaker 3: whenever like something never a callback or an east Egg
- 37:57Speaker 3: would show up or anything like that. Everybody else in
- 37:59Speaker 3: the audice is eh.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, what's funny to me is everyone's like, oh man,
- 38:05Speaker 4: the box office, this movie's gonna tank. It's Amazon. This
- 38:09Speaker 4: is a blip on their radar, in their tanks. It
- 38:12Speaker 4: does not matter to them, you know. It's not like
- 38:16Speaker 4: if it hurt Warner Brothers, like Warner Brothers would care,
- 38:19Speaker 4: Amazon will not care.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So it's so I found this interesting.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:25Speaker 3: So, like, uh, during Skeletor's mental attack on Adams, Skeletor
- 38:30Speaker 3: appears in the gym we're in a Nike.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Travis Knight, the director, is the son of Phil Knight.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, who co founded Nike.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Yep, yeah, this is uh yeah, he basically these are
- 38:46Speaker 4: his art projects.
- 38:47Speaker 3: That's why he did all those. Like I was gonna say,
- 38:49Speaker 3: motion animations. Yeah, Travis Knight probably could have just paid
- 38:53Speaker 3: for this movie himself.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 7: So one of the one of the characters that Skeletor
- 39:01Speaker 7: looked like in that sequence. I meant to go back
- 39:05Speaker 7: and do a side by side comparison and see if
- 39:08Speaker 7: it's if it's a connection I'm drawing or if it's
- 39:11Speaker 7: an actual connection.
- 39:12Speaker 5: But he looked like Lumberg from off his space.
- 39:15Speaker 4: You're not the only person to bring that up. You're
- 39:18Speaker 4: not the only person to bring that up.
- 39:21Speaker 5: Which fits because Lumberg was the villain of that.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Right, and he's got a coffee cup in his hand.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Yeah, what's happening.
- 39:32Speaker 4: I want all of those skelet all of the skeletor
- 39:36Speaker 4: in the gym skeletor on.
- 39:37Speaker 5: The date, Like, what did you think of skeletor? What
- 39:41Speaker 5: did you think of Jared Letto?
- 39:43Speaker 1: I was about to ask a question about skeletor.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Yeah, here's the thing, Jared Letton's box office poison, right, Like, yeah,
- 39:52Speaker 4: I know they are the fact that he used skeletor
- 39:56Speaker 4: is very like you have to kind of almost look
- 39:58Speaker 4: for it, right.
- 40:00Speaker 3: I didn't know it was Jared Leto until after the
- 40:02Speaker 3: movie because I didn't want to. I went into the movie.
- 40:04Speaker 3: I didn't IMDb it. I didn't look at any of
- 40:07Speaker 3: the previews. I didn't That's why I went in very
- 40:09Speaker 3: very raw.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Yeah, and he's not doing interviews for it. I don't
- 40:15Speaker 4: know if that's they don't want him to do interviews.
- 40:17Speaker 5: He doesn't.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I think so too, but we don't know for sure.
- 40:22Speaker 4: There's also talk that he's not happy with the movie.
- 40:27Speaker 4: So yes, that's right, But you know, what I'm not
- 40:34Speaker 4: as well. Sure this now this is from he Mania,
- 40:37Speaker 4: there's a there's some behind the scenes of Jared Leto
- 40:40Speaker 4: as Skelator, which even from behind the scenes, it's amazing
- 40:44Speaker 4: how much of it is actually him, like him in
- 40:47Speaker 4: the costume, you know, and they see his face. Of
- 40:50Speaker 4: course they didn't rip his skin off and make a skull. Yeah. Yeah,
- 40:55Speaker 4: but apparently he wore fake blood during his performances to
- 40:59Speaker 4: be kind of or creepy looking. I think he did
- 41:04Speaker 4: a great job.
- 41:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I do too.
- 41:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I bought it that his his henchmen were like
- 41:11Speaker 7: scared of him. Yeah, you know, they're laughing at his
- 41:13Speaker 7: dumb jokes. They don't know how how long? How long
- 41:16Speaker 7: do we laugh?
- 41:16Speaker 5: Do we laugh?
- 41:17Speaker 4: Now?
- 41:18Speaker 5: Do we laugh now? Okay, we laughed? Now how long
- 41:20Speaker 5: do we laugh for?
- 41:21Speaker 4: Yeah? He was a good balance of goofy but intimidating
- 41:25Speaker 4: at the same time.
- 41:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I wasn't prepared for the goof I didn't that. Yeah,
- 41:31Speaker 1: that took me. Yeah, I was kind of caught me
- 41:34Speaker 1: off guard.
- 41:36Speaker 4: And that's classic skeletor though.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, I know, and I just I wasn't
- 41:41Speaker 3: caught me off guard, and I sort of eased into
- 41:43Speaker 3: it later on in the film, but the first time
- 41:47Speaker 3: that they did where you know, they do the laugh
- 41:50Speaker 3: or whatever, and he's the timing's not right on something,
- 41:53Speaker 3: and he's like, whay, come on guys.
- 41:54Speaker 1: You know, I was like, oh, this is the direction. Okay.
- 41:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 1: The only thing to me that was kind of my expectations.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Yeah, the only thing to me that was kind of
- 42:05Speaker 4: weird is there's a scene where he grabs evil Inn's
- 42:08Speaker 4: arm and he's kind of like hurting her right, and
- 42:12Speaker 4: she's like kind of in pain, and then as soon
- 42:14Speaker 4: as he's done, she kind of like almost smiles like
- 42:17Speaker 4: she kind of enjoyed it.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:19Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, it's a.
- 42:23Speaker 5: I'm gonna take some heat for this, but uh, you
- 42:26Speaker 5: know some women like that.
- 42:27Speaker 4: I know, I know.
- 42:30Speaker 1: That was my thought.
- 42:31Speaker 5: I was like, I mean, I mean, i mean her
- 42:35Speaker 5: her first name is evil.
- 42:37Speaker 4: That's right, That's right.
- 42:40Speaker 1: She was into it.
- 42:41Speaker 4: Yeah, she was into it for sure. For sure.
- 42:44Speaker 5: So what do you think about rand Or dying?
- 42:50Speaker 1: It had to happen. I don't think it's I knew
- 42:55Speaker 1: it was gonna happen. Yeah, they reintroduced him in the
- 43:00Speaker 1: third act. I know he was dead.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Yeah, he's one of those characters that like even in
- 43:05Speaker 4: the show, like there was never really a lot done
- 43:08Speaker 4: with him in the original filmation show. It was just
- 43:11Speaker 4: he was kind of just there so you could kind
- 43:15Speaker 4: of do whatever with him. I know they used him
- 43:17Speaker 4: a lot more effectively in the Kevin Smith Show. I
- 43:22Speaker 4: think they really try to do something like father and
- 43:24Speaker 4: Son's storyline with him. But in a movie where you've
- 43:29Speaker 4: got a ton of characters, it makes sense, like let's
- 43:32Speaker 4: just kill him off. It's one less budget thing we
- 43:34Speaker 4: have to do in a sequel, you know.
- 43:36Speaker 5: Well, it's kind of up in the air.
- 43:39Speaker 7: Now, is Adam King of ATTORNEYA?
- 43:45Speaker 1: Now?
- 43:45Speaker 4: What was my next thing? Is he King King Caman?
- 43:48Speaker 4: You know?
- 43:49Speaker 7: And to have that in your second film? If there,
- 43:54Speaker 7: I mean that you could see the intent here, whether
- 43:56Speaker 7: it happens or not, The intent here was to start
- 43:58Speaker 7: a franchise.
- 43:59Speaker 4: Right, Oh for sure? With all those all those teasers
- 44:02Speaker 4: at the end.
- 44:03Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, So I want to talk about two, you know,
- 44:10Speaker 7: change from the the established status quo so quickly into
- 44:15Speaker 7: your new franchise. I don't think it's usually the right
- 44:19Speaker 7: thing to do.
- 44:21Speaker 5: Right, right?
- 44:27Speaker 4: Should we talk about those trailers or those teasers.
- 44:31Speaker 1: At the end and credit sort Yeah.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Yeah, technically, I mean three.
- 44:37Speaker 1: It seemed like it was. Yeah, it was basically three. Yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 3: I always use the app, and I like to promote
- 44:45Speaker 3: the app. Run P Yes. Run P is an app
- 44:49Speaker 3: for those who don't know that. You download the app
- 44:52Speaker 3: and you I long ago I paid for the lifetime
- 44:55Speaker 3: Premium Yes, which is unlimited viewings for twenty bucks.
- 44:58Speaker 1: It's the best.
- 44:59Speaker 3: It's one of the very few times I've ever paid
- 45:01Speaker 3: for anything on an app or paid for an app.
- 45:03Speaker 3: It's the best twenty bucks I've ever spent in my
- 45:05Speaker 3: entire life. It basically goes through every single movie that's
- 45:10Speaker 3: out and past movies and tells you when is a
- 45:14Speaker 3: good time to go to the bathroom, Yeah, like when
- 45:16Speaker 3: when is the action low or whatever. But it also
- 45:19Speaker 3: will tell you whether or not there are end credit scenes,
- 45:22Speaker 3: and so it told you, hey, stay until the very
- 45:25Speaker 3: very very end because there's you know, there's one sort
- 45:28Speaker 3: of right off the bat, there's one sort of four
- 45:31Speaker 3: minutes in, and then there's one way at the end
- 45:33Speaker 3: that's kind of important too. So yeah, all right, yeah,
- 45:39Speaker 3: so three three credits. So the three credit scenes were
- 45:43Speaker 3: the first one was the orco that's right, or yes,
- 45:50Speaker 3: And I was pissed because he didn't show up until
- 45:54Speaker 3: the end credit scene. I wanted to see him, you know,
- 45:58Speaker 3: because in the in the eighty seven movie, they they
- 46:00Speaker 3: wanted to have him, but they couldn't because obviously it
- 46:03Speaker 3: was just too.
- 46:04Speaker 1: It's too much expensive.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's why they had gri grilled, grilled door,
- 46:12Speaker 3: grin door whatever the hell that will, whatever that will
- 46:16Speaker 3: Munchkin's name was.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:18Speaker 3: But uh, I I wish this movie does better in
- 46:22Speaker 3: the box office because I would like to see the
- 46:24Speaker 3: sequel just so we can see more of Orco. You know,
- 46:28Speaker 3: he's a fun little character. He I think he would
- 46:30Speaker 3: have been great in this movie.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Mm hmmm.
- 46:33Speaker 5: I'm not sure where he would fit in.
- 46:35Speaker 4: That's the thing. Yeah, in this story, he didn't really fit.
- 46:40Speaker 1: I think he could have taken place of Roboto the
- 46:46Speaker 1: giant robot.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Yeah, but you needed somebody that could could help in
- 46:52Speaker 4: the fight, and Orco doesn't really help in a fight.
- 46:56Speaker 4: He causes more problems than he.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Does cause problem and I think that would have been
- 47:01Speaker 1: part of the fun.
- 47:01Speaker 3: You know, he would have been the one that's like
- 47:03Speaker 3: constantly getting in the good guy's way on accident.
- 47:07Speaker 5: But yeah, I don't know, it's just me.
- 47:12Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm kind of I'm kind of okay with him
- 47:15Speaker 7: showing up at the end them basically telling telling the
- 47:18Speaker 7: viewers we didn't forget about him.
- 47:20Speaker 4: Yeah you'll you'll see.
- 47:21Speaker 5: Him again, just not this time.
- 47:24Speaker 1: So it was a short scene the second.
- 47:27Speaker 7: And then the fact that it was the fact that
- 47:29Speaker 7: it was like a public service announcement. My my daughter
- 47:33Speaker 7: turned to me and said, Daddy orco did the lesson.
- 47:36Speaker 5: Like in the show.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's great.
- 47:40Speaker 7: That's great because when we watched the show when it
- 47:43Speaker 7: gets when we when we get when we watch an episode,
- 47:45Speaker 7: we get to the end and one of the things
- 47:47Speaker 7: she does, she turns to me and says, who do
- 47:48Speaker 7: you think is going to do the lesson?
- 47:49Speaker 5: And then we each guests.
- 47:52Speaker 4: Yeah that's cool.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, I like that.
- 47:57Speaker 3: The second end credit scene uatured a. It was another sword,
- 48:03Speaker 3: another sort of power, and it featured Shira.
- 48:07Speaker 5: It's actually the sort of protection.
- 48:10Speaker 7: I'm sorry, I'm sorry you have I have if you
- 48:13Speaker 7: have a motu NERD alert in there, go right ahead.
- 48:19Speaker 6: Warning warning, NERD alert.
- 48:22Speaker 4: NERD alert.
- 48:25Speaker 7: So as as a six year old girl who knows
- 48:31Speaker 7: who Shira is, my daughter flipped out when she saw that,
- 48:39Speaker 7: and and it's cool, But at the same time, it's like,
- 48:44Speaker 7: you know, I know that she isn't in the minority
- 48:48Speaker 7: of little girls who are excited about this because they
- 48:53Speaker 7: just they don't know.
- 48:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and then isn't like there's something weird with the
- 48:58Speaker 4: rights issue that it's kind of amazing that they got
- 49:01Speaker 4: you were in there.
- 49:04Speaker 7: I think I think the rights issues have all been
- 49:07Speaker 7: resolved at this point. So what you had, yeah, well,
- 49:12Speaker 7: what you had years ago is you had these characters
- 49:17Speaker 7: that Filmation made a show about. You had these characters
- 49:20Speaker 7: that Mattel created and Filmation made a show about them,
- 49:24Speaker 7: and then you had characters that Filmation created for the show,
- 49:29Speaker 7: like Orco, and those characters were owned by Filmation. So
- 49:36Speaker 7: if you look at the Orco toy from the nineteen eighties,
- 49:39Speaker 7: the copyright stamp doesn't say Mattel, it says copyright Filmation.
- 49:44Speaker 4: M hm.
- 49:45Speaker 5: So I think Shira falls into that category.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Oh they think.
- 49:54Speaker 7: I think the toys were based on the spinoff show
- 49:58Speaker 7: rather than I don't know, or maybe because they made
- 50:01Speaker 7: them at the same time in collaboration. There were some
- 50:04Speaker 7: rights issues, but you know, Filmation doesn't exist anymore.
- 50:07Speaker 1: So.
- 50:08Speaker 7: The rights to these shows have been sold several times
- 50:12Speaker 7: over the years. And I think it's to the point
- 50:14Speaker 7: where everything is all in one house now and it's
- 50:16Speaker 7: a pattern.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Well that's uh, that's she read there on the on
- 50:20Speaker 4: the screen right there. Let's the actress that played her,
- 50:24Speaker 4: Lauren Salou. I think it is.
- 50:28Speaker 1: If they do make Squl, I doubt that's going to
- 50:30Speaker 1: be the actress.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I doubt that'll be it. Yeah, I'm sure they'll
- 50:34Speaker 4: find someone else.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean you only see her from from behind.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of Silhowe edited and yeah, yeah, she says.
- 50:42Speaker 3: One line features the Sword of Protection more than it
- 50:46Speaker 3: features her.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 4: We had someone walks up to her and says cost
- 50:50Speaker 4: Captain Adorra because in the show she was captured and
- 50:55Speaker 4: taken us a baby and runs the Hordac army. Basically yeah, yeah, so.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 3: And then the third the final end credit scene is
- 51:10Speaker 3: evil in going back to the scene of the crime
- 51:12Speaker 3: and picking up uh Skeletor's skull.
- 51:17Speaker 1: And this sort of implies that, uh.
- 51:20Speaker 4: He'll be back from the war.
- 51:22Speaker 7: Yeah, which was which was the end of the eighty
- 51:26Speaker 7: seven film when Skeletor that had a post credit scene
- 51:30Speaker 7: of Skeletor Pop popping out of the water saying, you
- 51:32Speaker 7: know he'll be back.
- 51:34Speaker 5: Yeah he wasn't, he wasn't.
- 51:39Speaker 4: No, no, yeah, yeah. I had fun with this movie. Man,
- 51:47Speaker 4: you know, it's uh, it's good times. I don't think
- 51:51Speaker 4: it's gonna last long in the box office. There's too
- 51:53Speaker 4: many Juggernauts on its way. Like I think next week
- 51:57Speaker 4: is Discovery or Discovered Day, Disclosure day. Yeah, the Spielberg movie,
- 52:05Speaker 4: like which.
- 52:05Speaker 5: I didn't know anything about until I saw the preview
- 52:08Speaker 5: for it.
- 52:09Speaker 7: With this film, I had never heard anything about it,
- 52:12Speaker 7: but it looks pretty cool.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks interesting. You got Spider Man right around
- 52:16Speaker 4: the corner, like next month. Yeah.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and we've got Supergirl coming up.
- 52:23Speaker 4: Supergirls. I think it's like in two weeks.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I'm excited about that one.
- 52:29Speaker 5: I mean, I am, I am, but I'm not m hmm.
- 52:32Speaker 5: I don't know. She doesn't look like Supergirl.
- 52:36Speaker 1: I think it looks like emblem upon your chest.
- 52:39Speaker 4: That's right, that's what you got. Those guys get a
- 52:43Speaker 4: super Superman tattoo. It's a Supergirl tattoo.
- 52:47Speaker 3: You didn't realize that's a that's a Supergirl tattoo is told.
- 52:51Speaker 7: You, Well, what EV's man, it's the House of L.
- 52:55Speaker 7: It's the House House of L, and L is for Lombardo.
- 52:59Speaker 4: Boom, there you go.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, okay, so I went in this into
- 53:09Speaker 3: this theater. Honestly, I thought this was a ridiculous movie.
- 53:14Speaker 3: I did enjoy myself, I did, I had I had
- 53:17Speaker 3: some fun, but I spent a lot of time in
- 53:20Speaker 3: the movie theater just going like this, shaking.
- 53:23Speaker 1: My hand, like, what the hell is that? Oh? My god?
- 53:27Speaker 5: You know.
- 53:29Speaker 3: It was fun. Could I have seen this at home? Yeah?
- 53:34Speaker 4: Yeah, but I bet it does very well on streaming.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Oh, it's gonna do great on streaming.
- 53:41Speaker 4: Yeah, because you have a lot of people who Grandpa
- 53:44Speaker 4: wants to show us his movie.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Right, yeah, yeah, there's could be a lot of geriatric
- 53:50Speaker 3: people that yeah.
- 53:52Speaker 5: How do they? Yeah, but how do they?
- 53:55Speaker 7: How do they calculate whether a movie is successful or
- 53:58Speaker 7: not on streaming? Don't understand how the metrics?
- 54:02Speaker 1: So people streaming, there's a few ways to divulge those numbers.
- 54:09Speaker 7: Well, okay, so well what I what I mean is
- 54:11Speaker 7: what I mean is if someone is paying four ninety
- 54:15Speaker 7: nine to watch this at their house streaming, it that
- 54:19Speaker 7: way I get it, you can count, okay, how many
- 54:21Speaker 7: people paid four ninety nine.
- 54:23Speaker 5: But when it goes.
- 54:24Speaker 7: On Amazon Prime and everyone who already paid for this
- 54:30Speaker 7: account can see it.
- 54:34Speaker 1: So tell how watching this movie?
- 54:36Speaker 3: Because they are the answer no, I know the Amazon
- 54:40Speaker 3: shipping no.
- 54:42Speaker 4: No. So one of the ways they do it is
- 54:45Speaker 4: they will see, okay, how many new accounts signed up
- 54:48Speaker 4: for a movie for for the Amazon Prime service right
- 54:53Speaker 4: as soon as it hits and then they will see
- 54:56Speaker 4: in that first month, what did the people watch? What
- 55:00Speaker 4: were the first few movies that they watch, shows or whatever,
- 55:03Speaker 4: and then they will attribute that new sign up to
- 55:07Speaker 4: those shows, because you're because the theory is you're not
- 55:10Speaker 4: gonna just watch one new show. You're gonna go on there,
- 55:13Speaker 4: You're gonna watch a few new things. But what were
- 55:15Speaker 4: the big draws? So if a bunch of new Amazon
- 55:19Speaker 4: accounts sign up for Prime when this movie hits Prime,
- 55:24Speaker 4: then they'll be like, oh, okay, you know he Man
- 55:27Speaker 4: brought a lot of people. Also, the popularity of it, right,
- 55:30Speaker 4: So if thirty percent of the Amazon accounts watch he
- 55:34Speaker 4: Man within the first you know, fifteen days of it
- 55:37Speaker 4: arriving or thirty days whatever their metric is, they will
- 55:40Speaker 4: also attribute, oh, not only did it bring in new accounts,
- 55:44Speaker 4: but it helped maintain our current viewership because they stayed
- 55:49Speaker 4: for it.
- 55:51Speaker 7: Okay, Okay, so it's a lot of math, a lot
- 55:55Speaker 7: of math and then the math the math, right they
- 56:00Speaker 7: remath it?
- 56:02Speaker 4: Or how many times did they watch it? Hey, this
- 56:04Speaker 4: one account watched it eight times in a month or
- 56:07Speaker 4: whatever it is, right, Okay.

- 56:59Speaker 3: the grogud at the end.

- 57:03Speaker 4: Then Orco shows up and gives a lesson at the end.
- 57:05Speaker 1: That's right.
- 57:07Speaker 4: No, so in my town, right, I went on Thursday night,
- 57:11Speaker 4: and then at my movie theater they had this big
- 57:13Speaker 4: sign and one of the animators from the original eighties
- 57:18Speaker 4: show lives in my town. Oh nice, Yeah, Tom Cook,
- 57:22Speaker 4: And so he was there, I guess Friday night and
- 57:25Speaker 4: had a big sign promoting this and you could watch
- 57:28Speaker 4: the movie with him. Oh that's cool him about it afterwards.
- 57:33Speaker 4: So yeah, those bummed down like would have gone Friday night.
- 57:36Speaker 5: Yeah, when they're all laughing like this, I think that.

- 57:44Speaker 4: done a lot of shows.
- 57:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:46Speaker 4: But yeah, so he lives in the area and they
