- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I heart radio. So that was fun yesterday, wasn't it? Man,
- 0:20Speaker 1: every time you think you have seen it all, every
- 0:24Speaker 1: time you think that Sunday is gonna just be a
- 0:27Speaker 1: normal day. Steve White, yeah, you see things that never
- 0:33Speaker 1: before have you seen happen in NFL Games, and that
- 0:37Speaker 1: we welcome you to a Monday week two edition of
- 0:39Speaker 1: NFL now on NFL network. What a weekend and no
- 0:42Speaker 1: lead was safe. None special teams were an issue. No, yeah,
- 0:47Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna keep on encouraging this to the show,
- 0:49Speaker 1: Andrew Twenty one leads, fourth quare stuff matter, they don't matter. Um,
- 0:56Speaker 1: we had pushing and shoving and comebacks and all that.
- 0:59Speaker 1: All right. We start here with breaking news, and that
- 1:02Speaker 1: is Mike Evans. It's to go. was suspended one game
- 1:09Speaker 1: for being in the middle of this pushing and shove.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Anyone called a brawl, a freak kiss, whatever you want
- 1:16Speaker 1: to call it. He came off the bench in Shove
- 1:18Speaker 1: Marshawn lattimore after for net had hit lattimore slash. Technically
- 1:22Speaker 1: wasn't off the bench. He got my point. He was
- 1:24Speaker 1: suspended in he's a repeat offender. The fighting alone loses
- 1:30Speaker 1: a player for the next game. It hurts our team
- 1:32Speaker 1: because we lose a very good ball player. We don't
- 1:35Speaker 1: want that, we don't condone it and you know, we
- 1:38Speaker 1: gotta move forward and try to find a way to
- 1:39Speaker 1: win without him. But I should be a lesson to
- 1:42Speaker 1: a lot of other players. Final Line is that to
- 1:46Speaker 1: stick up for your teammates, to be fired up about
- 1:49Speaker 1: the game, but to not cross over into unwanted territory.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It's always a fine line. This is a controlled aggression game.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You know it's a controlled aggression game and you try
- 1:59Speaker 1: to protect your teammates, but you got to do it
- 2:01Speaker 1: the right way. Look, we've seen it so many times.
- 2:03Speaker 1: He Rappaport Tom pells her. Between these two teams, the
- 2:06Speaker 1: bucks the saints, they don't like each other. The Saints
- 2:08Speaker 1: had owned the Bucks over the last seven regular season games,
- 2:13Speaker 1: playoffs aside. We had seen this brewing and now Mike
- 2:19Speaker 1: Evans gets a one game suspension. Ian It's no surprise
- 2:24Speaker 1: that Marshawn Lattimore and Mike Evans really don't like each
- 2:27Speaker 1: other very much, nor is it really survised they got
- 2:29Speaker 1: into it. The difference here is from Mike Evans. I
- 2:32Speaker 1: would say, UH, two fold. One is that, clearly, judging
- 2:35Speaker 1: from the letter that John Runyon, is in charge of
- 2:37Speaker 1: dismal for the League, wrote him. Uh, the belief is
- 2:40Speaker 1: that had it not been for the actions of Mike Evans,
- 2:43Speaker 1: that this melee, this Frankas this brew how hi you're
- 2:46Speaker 1: watching right now on the screen, would not have happened. Essentially,
- 2:50Speaker 1: he is the cause of this. That is one reason
- 2:52Speaker 1: verse suspension. Another reason is that Tom he is a
- 2:55Speaker 1: repeat offender, somewhat similar circumstance to two thousand and seventeen
- 2:59Speaker 1: when he clock marshawn lattimore again and got suspended. As
- 3:03Speaker 1: far as actually the action that led to the suspension,
- 3:07Speaker 1: here the words of running who wrote in a letter
- 3:09Speaker 1: to Mike Evans. After the play ended, you're walking toward
- 3:12Speaker 1: the sideline. You noticed your teammates were in conversation. You
- 3:15Speaker 1: ran toward that area and violently through your body and
- 3:18Speaker 1: struck an unsuspecting opponent who is part of that confrontation.
- 3:22Speaker 1: You knocked your opponent to the ground and a melee ensued,
- 3:25Speaker 1: involving players from both teams. Again, essentially saying that Evans
- 3:28Speaker 1: is the reason for that. Your aggressive conduct could have
- 3:31Speaker 1: caused serious injury to your opponent and it does not
- 3:34Speaker 1: reflect the standards of sportsmanship. Tom That is why Mike
- 3:37Speaker 1: Evans got suspended. That's right, Ian, and I was just
- 3:40Speaker 1: told Mike Evans does plan to appeal this suspension. That
- 3:44Speaker 1: means will be heard by your brooks or James Thrash,
- 3:47Speaker 1: where the jointly appointed disciplinary officers. That will happen in
- 3:50Speaker 1: the next several days here, that that appeal then will
- 3:54Speaker 1: be heard. So there is at least the possibility that
- 3:56Speaker 1: Mike Evans is hoping he could get the one game
- 3:58Speaker 1: suspension knocked down to a fine. If not, he would
- 4:01Speaker 1: miss a big game coming up this week against the
- 4:04Speaker 1: Green Bay actors. As you mentioned, it was really the
- 4:07Speaker 1: fact that Mike Evans was at his own sideline and
- 4:10Speaker 1: then ran full speed and hit marshaw and Lattimore, which
- 4:12Speaker 1: is running wrote in the letter could have caused serious
- 4:15Speaker 1: injury to the opponent. I'm sure there are plenty of
- 4:17Speaker 1: bucks fans watch the entirety of that and felt that
- 4:20Speaker 1: there were some saints players to who should end up discipline.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That is also possible. Any fines are going to be
- 4:25Speaker 1: decided later in the week. Those are usually communicated to
- 4:28Speaker 1: the players on Friday and Saturday. So I would anticipate
- 4:31Speaker 1: additional discipline but no other suspensions other than the one
- 4:34Speaker 1: game suspension for Mike Evans, who again does plan to
- 4:38Speaker 1: appeal Andrew. All right, keep in mind here no Julio Jones,
- 4:41Speaker 1: no Chris Godwin in that game yesterday and now, moving forward,
- 4:46Speaker 1: it's only Aaron Rodgers and the packers in the late
- 4:49Speaker 1: four o'clock Fox game of the week window in Tampa
- 4:52Speaker 1: on Sunday. Now no Mike Evans, with injury concerns for
- 4:56Speaker 1: the other two guys also. Todd Bowle said thirty minutes ago,
- 5:00Speaker 1: that was this morning video there on the podium, that
- 5:03Speaker 1: Jason liked the GM is always on the sideline. You
- 5:06Speaker 1: saw him there. They cut to him. Reaction Shot during
- 5:09Speaker 1: the freakas Bruce Arians raised some eyebrows. Wise he down there.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Bowl said Arians was down there because the saints didn't
- 5:16Speaker 1: provide them with a suite and that moving forward Arians
- 5:21Speaker 1: will be upstairs. So there's that subplot as well. All Right,
- 5:25Speaker 1: Ian let's get to the injury out of San Francisco.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Just heartbreaking for Tray Lance, broken ankle. He has done
- 5:32Speaker 1: for the year. Yeah, and anyone who saw the reaction
- 5:35Speaker 1: from Lance the card come out, the reaction from the
- 5:37Speaker 1: players on the field at the time, you knew it
- 5:40Speaker 1: was serious. You knew it was broken. He left the
- 5:42Speaker 1: field with an air cast, having surgery. To actually believe
- 5:45Speaker 1: right now, having surgery to repair that ankle should be
- 5:48Speaker 1: a fortune fruit, unfortunately for Trey Lance. A relatively simple
- 5:53Speaker 1: fix here, expected to go well. Should be fully healthy
- 5:55Speaker 1: long before next season. But moving forward to the San
- 5:58Speaker 1: Francisco Forty niners Tom this is the team that now has,
- 6:02Speaker 1: for better or worse, has solved their quarterback issue. No
- 6:05Speaker 1: longer do you have Jimmy Garoppolo waiting in the locker
- 6:07Speaker 1: room in case tray lance is either injured or not.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Who you think it is? Jimmy Garoppolo's team now you
- 6:13Speaker 1: can really feel the sort of lift from the sideline
- 6:16Speaker 1: and on the field when Garoppolo came in. UH, he
- 6:19Speaker 1: has a new contract, one that will incentivise him to
- 6:22Speaker 1: continue to play well like he did on Sunday, but
- 6:25Speaker 1: certainly it has made things even more interesting going forward
- 6:28Speaker 1: for the fort and he and I am specifically told
- 6:32Speaker 1: it's a fractured and dislocated ankle. For Tray Lance. However,
- 6:37Speaker 1: one very small bit of good news here. It's not
- 6:39Speaker 1: a compound fracture like Dak Prescott had. That's where the
- 6:42Speaker 1: bone breaks through the skin. It raises other risks, including infection.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So again a season ending injury for Trey Lance. He's
- 6:49Speaker 1: going to have surgery this morning. Team doctors are going
- 6:52Speaker 1: to perform it in the Santa Clara area. A brutal injury, obviously,
- 6:57Speaker 1: for Tray Lance, and now he's going to turn his
- 6:59Speaker 1: full focus to tray lance. Just twenty one starts going
- 7:04Speaker 1: back to college and the NFL. Now over five years.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Remember there's a covid season. They lost there and then
- 7:11Speaker 1: they came back, played one game that entered the draft.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Just hasn't played a lot of football and now the
- 7:15Speaker 1: niners won't get a chance to develop them. This year
- 7:18Speaker 1: they turned to Jimmy Garoppolo. Thank you. I thank you. Tom.
- 7:21Speaker 1: More from Tom a little bit later. He's in Buffalo
- 7:23Speaker 1: head of one of our two Monday night games. tonights.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Have had a lot of bad quarterback luck, a lot
- 7:31Speaker 1: of bad injury luck overall running back. I mean the
- 7:34Speaker 1: loss the Liiza Mitchell last week. They seemingly always lose
- 7:36Speaker 1: their starting running back. When they haven't lost their starting quarterback,
- 7:42Speaker 1: they either go to the super bowl or go to
- 7:45Speaker 1: the NFC championship game. Mark Ross with me, Steve Whitch
- 7:49Speaker 1: as well. Mark Start with you here. I don't know
- 7:51Speaker 1: how to say this without sounding mean spirited to Trey Lance.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It's not about Trey Lance, but he clearly is green.
- 7:58Speaker 1: We just gave you that number. Twenty one starts in
- 8:00Speaker 1: five full years of football the NFC west. The forty
- 8:05Speaker 1: niners are a lot different now with Garoppolo at quarterback.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think they're better Andrew. They're better with Jimmy Garoppolo
- 8:14Speaker 1: and I think a lot of the team this teammates
- 8:16Speaker 1: would have said that even before Trey Lance was inserted
- 8:20Speaker 1: as the guy, as the savior of the team, because
- 8:23Speaker 1: of the accomplishments that Jimmy G had. He when Jimmy
- 8:26Speaker 1: g played, hey, you could argue if he's an all
- 8:28Speaker 1: star or whatever, but they win when he played and
- 8:31Speaker 1: the teammates noticed that. The organization noticed that. So it
- 8:34Speaker 1: was really an odd situation where you had a quarterback
- 8:37Speaker 1: who wins and then you say, you know what, we're
- 8:39Speaker 1: gonna give up three draft picks for the future because
- 8:42Speaker 1: we haven't won the Super Bowl with this player. Usually,
- 8:45Speaker 1: when you draft a young player. Look, I was in
- 8:47Speaker 1: Philly when we drafted Donovan mcnabb. We were three and thirteen,
- 8:50Speaker 1: so this was the guy, this is the future. In
- 8:52Speaker 1: New York when they drafted Eli Manning, this is the future,
- 8:55Speaker 1: this is the organization. So everyone knew that that was
- 8:58Speaker 1: the plan. This was a different situation where the forty
- 9:01Speaker 1: niners were accomplished and one with Jimmy G and there's
- 9:05Speaker 1: that you're not good enough, we're going to mortgage the future.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So now he's back in there. I think this makes
- 9:09Speaker 1: the forty is a better team Steve just because of
- 9:12Speaker 1: that confidence level and you know what he can do
- 9:14Speaker 1: on the field. Mark that they are better teams. Again,
- 9:17Speaker 1: the experience, the fact that his teammates love him. They
- 9:20Speaker 1: absolutely love he's well regarded in that building. But you know,
- 9:23Speaker 1: it wasn't a matter that all the niners brass saying hey,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you're just not quite good enough, with them saying you're
- 9:29Speaker 1: injury prone. He missed a lot of football games. They
- 9:33Speaker 1: wanted somebody who would be durable. They go out and
- 9:34Speaker 1: they trade a guy and what do you know, he
- 9:36Speaker 1: breaks his ankle and his second game as a starter
- 9:39Speaker 1: this season. Fortunately for them, they retain Jimmy Garoppolo. Remember
- 9:43Speaker 1: when they redid his deal this offseason to keep him
- 9:46Speaker 1: on the roster. That was more viewed as potential, potential
- 9:50Speaker 1: option in case another team had an injury and they
- 9:52Speaker 1: could trade him to that other team. Now he's the
- 9:55Speaker 1: insurance that could get them to the Super Bowl. So
- 9:58Speaker 1: they're in a they're in a good situation with Garoppolo,
- 10:01Speaker 1: but the fact that he is injury prone, I would
- 10:03Speaker 1: expect the forty niners to probably scour some type of
- 10:06Speaker 1: options to maybe bring in another veteran backup, at least
- 10:09Speaker 1: somebody who's been into some camps before to give them
- 10:12Speaker 1: some help just in case Jimmy G goes down. Remember,
- 10:15Speaker 1: they let nate Sudfeld go when they decided to keep Garoppolo.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Not that Nate Sudfeld is some season backup that's been
- 10:24Speaker 1: around forever, but he has more experienced, certainly than brock
- 10:27Speaker 1: purty Breck, who's sitting behind him now. Next up it's
- 10:31Speaker 1: at Denver on Sunday night, more of the broncos in
- 10:35Speaker 1: a little bit and then home on Monday night to
- 10:38Speaker 1: play the rams. So back to back Prime Time Games.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Now for Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco Forty niners. Steve,
- 10:48Speaker 1: what do you think of the packers offensive revitalization? Yes, well,
- 10:52Speaker 1: this is kind of what we thought. The packers are
- 10:53Speaker 1: going to be right. With the receiving issues being what
- 10:56Speaker 1: they are, they gonna have to run the ball. You know,
- 10:57Speaker 1: they're gonna lean on Aaron Jones and a J dillon,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and they were fantastic last night. The way they had
- 11:02Speaker 1: that run game going allowed them to control older clock.
- 11:06Speaker 1: The bears only ran forty one plays and they possessed
- 11:11Speaker 1: the ball only twenty three minutes because the packers, Aaron Rodgers,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Justan just own the bears. The packers own the clock
- 11:19Speaker 1: because this fantastic run game. But that sequence mark where
- 11:24Speaker 1: you know you you saw Justin Fields died for the
- 11:27Speaker 1: pylon and not get in, and the fact that the
- 11:29Speaker 1: packers defense kept them out of the end zone right there,
- 11:32Speaker 1: that was a game changer because that was an opportunity
- 11:35Speaker 1: for a bears offense that was running the ball effectively,
- 11:39Speaker 1: just like the packers did, and the Bear's defense that
- 11:42Speaker 1: was keeping the packers out of the end zone in
- 11:43Speaker 1: the second half. Yeah, that was discouraging thing, Steve for
- 11:49Speaker 1: the bears offense is that they were running the ball well,
- 11:53Speaker 1: which should open things up for Justin fields to throw
- 11:56Speaker 1: the ball, especially when they're down. But it just seems
- 11:58Speaker 1: as if they don't trust justin fields to throw and
- 12:01Speaker 1: only eleven attempts last night and just look, he just
- 12:05Speaker 1: looks uncomfortable and out of sync. And yes, he doesn't
- 12:09Speaker 1: have much personnel around him, I think. I thought it
- 12:12Speaker 1: was a mismatch as far as personnel wise between the
- 12:14Speaker 1: packers and the bears and they do need to put
- 12:16Speaker 1: a lot of work in it. But just when I
- 12:18Speaker 1: watched justin fields, he just doesn't look confident and it
- 12:21Speaker 1: doesn't look as if the play calling it's confident in
- 12:24Speaker 1: him to throw the ball. When he was at Ohio
- 12:27Speaker 1: state he threw the ball a lot. He just didn't
- 12:30Speaker 1: run the ball. And they try to stay in Games.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I mean he was prolific throwing the ball and airing
- 12:34Speaker 1: it out and quit game and he showed you all
- 12:36Speaker 1: the things you needed, but right now he looks like
- 12:39Speaker 1: a completely different quarterback. Uh, if their goal is just
- 12:42Speaker 1: to try to hang into games and lose that that's
- 12:45Speaker 1: not a good formula. They have to open things up.
- 12:47Speaker 1: They have to start letting this guy develop and see
- 12:50Speaker 1: what they have in Justin fields and open it up
- 12:53Speaker 1: a little more. Let him start throwing the ball despite
- 12:55Speaker 1: having some talent disadvantages. Uh, Andrew and well, well, Mark,
- 12:59Speaker 1: I'm glad you said that, because you only get eleven
- 13:03Speaker 1: throws in any game. Running backs need carries to get going.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Don't quarterbacks need throws to get into a rhythm? What
- 13:11Speaker 1: is eleven throws gonna accomplish and developing Justin fields? Absolutely nothing.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It has to get in the you get good but
- 13:19Speaker 1: at throwing by throwing. You get good at passing by passing,
- 13:22Speaker 1: not by not doing it. So for Justin Fields, reps
- 13:25Speaker 1: and practice is not gonna do. PRESEASON NOT gonna do
- 13:28Speaker 1: end these games. They have to start opening up that
- 13:30Speaker 1: they just keep losing. At some point you're gonna have
- 13:33Speaker 1: to say we have to change what we're doing with
- 13:35Speaker 1: this young man. We have to see what we're doing. Okay,
- 13:37Speaker 1: he makes mistakes, so what you have to find out
- 13:40Speaker 1: what he's gonna do and how he's going to develop.
- 13:42Speaker 1: When I had that, we that drafted Donald mcnabb and Philly. Hey,
- 13:46Speaker 1: you put the training wheels on a little bit, but
- 13:48Speaker 1: at certain point he's game. You have to start letting
- 13:50Speaker 1: it go and opening it up. Justin fields. has already
- 13:53Speaker 1: shown the playmaking and he's already shown the resiliencies that
- 13:56Speaker 1: when he's down he can get back and make plays,
- 13:58Speaker 1: as he did last week. Last night he showed a
- 14:01Speaker 1: little bit of that as well. Just wasn't enough time,
- 14:03Speaker 1: wasn't enough snaps. They have to start doing things to
- 14:06Speaker 1: help him out and develop, and that's by throwing and
- 14:09Speaker 1: passing the ball in these games and try to win.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And it opened with some encouraging stuff here. First quarter.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Trick play out of the time out sets up that
- 14:17Speaker 1: first touchdown. All right, maybe we got something there. Didn't
- 14:20Speaker 1: really see that offense again until the fourth quarter when
- 14:23Speaker 1: field almost got him to within one score. Thank you, guys.
- 14:26Speaker 1: It's a primetime doubleheaded tonight this right Eagles Vikings as
- 14:29Speaker 1: one of the Games in Philly. The other game bills
- 14:32Speaker 1: Titans in Buffalo. Fifth Straight Year we get the bills
- 14:37Speaker 1: and the titans. Tom Placero, you saw him before given
- 14:41Speaker 1: the Mike Evans Uds Trey Lance News in Buffalo. Tom
- 14:44Speaker 1: Back with us in his fantastic suit yet again with
- 14:47Speaker 1: some Titans Roster News Tom it's right Andrew. A familiar
- 14:53Speaker 1: name going to make his titans debut on national TV.
- 14:56Speaker 1: It is veteran wide receiver Josh Gordon, who I'm told
- 14:59Speaker 1: is being elevated from the practice squad to play in
- 15:02Speaker 1: this game against the bills. Gordon was, of course, one
- 15:05Speaker 1: of the leading receivers in the NFL early in his career.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Had several bouts with the substance abuse policy, leading to suspensions.
- 15:11Speaker 1: By all accounts, has it quit himself well on and
- 15:14Speaker 1: off the field since he went to the chiefs last year,
- 15:16Speaker 1: cutting the final roster. Production just joined the titans a
- 15:18Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago. I would not expect him to
- 15:20Speaker 1: play a lot in this game tonight, but the titans
- 15:24Speaker 1: are banged up at receiver. Kyle Phillips questionable with a
- 15:26Speaker 1: shoulder injury, so they'll see if, situationally, they can get
- 15:29Speaker 1: Gordon on the field maybe get a little bit of
- 15:31Speaker 1: juice out of him on a night that they know
- 15:33Speaker 1: they're gonna have to score to keep up with the bills.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And Kyle Phillips, the rookie from U C L A,
- 15:37Speaker 1: who showed some juice in week want also good in
- 15:40Speaker 1: the return game. Thank you, Tom Pellicero. Speaking of prime time,
- 15:43Speaker 1: Jalen hurts is in prime time tonight. It's the eagles,
- 15:48Speaker 1: it's the Viking, it's Jim Jane Palmer going home live
- 15:54Speaker 1: report from the lengths. Right ahead, Jim. This is called Jim. Jimmy, Jim.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I was gonna go to Jimmy. Hey, everybody, we had
- 16:06Speaker 1: a game today. There are two Monday night games. One
- 16:10Speaker 1: of them is on ESPN. One of them is on ABC,
- 16:15Speaker 1: the ladder of which begins at a thirty eastern time.
- 16:18Speaker 1: It's Justin Jefferson. It's a J Brown, it's fun name Philadelphia.
- 16:26Speaker 1: It's James Palmer, not Jim Palmer. kind of went to break.
- 16:32Speaker 1: You're not the hall of fame Oriol Raighty and broadcaster
- 16:36Speaker 1: high James Palmer with Kirk cousins and Justin Jefferson, trying
- 16:41Speaker 1: to repeat what they did last week against the packers,
- 16:43Speaker 1: which was pretty impressive. It was really impressive and actually
- 16:48Speaker 1: didn't surprise a lot of people on this Minnesota Vikings roster.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Andrew and I talked to a couple of people there
- 16:54Speaker 1: this past week. They said really from the minute Kevin
- 16:56Speaker 1: O'CONNELL and his staff arrived, they knew it was a very,
- 17:00Speaker 1: very good fit for kirk cousins. They knew that Kirk
- 17:02Speaker 1: was me very comfortable and they believe when he's come
- 17:05Speaker 1: trouble he can go out be himself and excel. But
- 17:08Speaker 1: it's also helps you to excel when you have Justin Jefferson,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you have Adam feeling and you have Dalvin Cook. Well,
- 17:13Speaker 1: we know Justin Jefferson went off against those Green Bay
- 17:17Speaker 1: packers and when I talked to Adam feeland at length
- 17:19Speaker 1: this week, he said when you look at everything you
- 17:20Speaker 1: want a receiver to do, there's nothing Jefferson can't do.
- 17:24Speaker 1: He said he can beat you deep, he can run
- 17:26Speaker 1: the intermediate stuff, he can run the short stuff, the
- 17:29Speaker 1: choice routes. You can put him anywhere on the field,
- 17:31Speaker 1: which is what makes him such a difficult matchup and
- 17:33Speaker 1: that's why Jonathan Gannon, the Eagles defensive coordinator, said this
- 17:36Speaker 1: week it's so hard to have a plan for him
- 17:38Speaker 1: because you don't know where he's going to be. If
- 17:40Speaker 1: you want to set up those double teams on him,
- 17:43Speaker 1: keep your eye out for him to be putting motion
- 17:45Speaker 1: throughout this game. That's something that he really liked in
- 17:47Speaker 1: that opener and he sees the field really well in
- 17:50Speaker 1: that sense. So keep your eye out on him moving
- 17:52Speaker 1: around pre snap. And then also these big pass rushers
- 17:55Speaker 1: going against a brilliant offensive line for the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I talked to Lane Johnson, their star right tackle, and
- 18:00Speaker 1: said it's gonna be interesting to see what they do
- 18:02Speaker 1: because some teams with Jalen hurts, we think they're gonna
- 18:05Speaker 1: come after US and try to go after him. They
- 18:07Speaker 1: actually sit back Andrew and they kind of wait and
- 18:10Speaker 1: cage him in. They want to avoid the spot of
- 18:13Speaker 1: him running and beating them with his legs. When I
- 18:16Speaker 1: talked to Harrison Smith, the Viking Safety, said we know
- 18:18Speaker 1: he's gonna look for one read, two reads and then
- 18:21Speaker 1: probably look to use his legs. So it's gonna be
- 18:23Speaker 1: interesting that battle and chess match up front between those
- 18:25Speaker 1: pass rushers of the Vikings and that really good offensive
- 18:29Speaker 1: line of the Philadelphia Eagles. The other suggested topic for
- 18:32Speaker 1: this hit Jalen Reagor revenge game. We'll have to save
- 18:35Speaker 1: that for later. James, isn't there some sort of connection
- 18:38Speaker 1: between him and Justin Jefferson and the draft? And Yeah,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I thought the research flick into it this week here
- 18:46Speaker 1: in Philly. You don't want to do that. Adrian says
- 18:48Speaker 1: he's not doing that. James, James Palmer live in Philadelphia
- 18:52Speaker 1: where it's at eight thirty. Kicked Ted Eight off broad,
- 18:56Speaker 1: so they'll be ready. Where the Ravens ready for Tyreek Hill?
- 19:00Speaker 1: How that thing happened in Baltimore coming up as we
- 19:04Speaker 1: continue NFL now mind every time. All right, if you
- 19:13Speaker 1: hadn't heard by now, Tom Brady and never beat the
- 19:15Speaker 1: saints in the regular season as the bucks quarterback, Oh
- 19:18Speaker 1: for four, and the bucks overall had lost seventh straight
- 19:21Speaker 1: to them. But Brady, after really just an ugly offensive
- 19:25Speaker 1: all around the first half, got it going here. This
- 19:29Speaker 1: is after the fight. This is Brashott Perriman. Now the
- 19:32Speaker 1: bucks go up ten to three. And then it was
- 19:35Speaker 1: the bucks defense that closed this thing out. Jamal Dean
- 19:38Speaker 1: got him a couple of times, Mike Edwards with a
- 19:41Speaker 1: pick six, and the bucks and Brady finally finally beat
- 19:49Speaker 1: the saints, at least in the regular season. Yeah, they're
- 19:52Speaker 1: two it though, this emotional game. So, Um, I don't
- 19:57Speaker 1: think that's you know, I think a little better execution
- 19:59Speaker 1: helps all the way around. Defense played great again, Um
- 20:02Speaker 1: line fought hard all the guys are in their fire hearts. Tough,
- 20:05Speaker 1: really tough team, really well coached, Um team we really
- 20:09Speaker 1: struggle with. So it feels good to win. We're gonna
- 20:11Speaker 1: get better. You know, we had some momentum here early
- 20:13Speaker 1: in the third quarter. The biggest thing is, uh, ball security.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I think we still have a chance to to get
- 20:19Speaker 1: in this game. UH, they want to turn up about
- 20:21Speaker 1: them and that's what they want. Let's talk about that
- 20:24Speaker 1: turnover battle, Mark Ross, because one of the things we
- 20:28Speaker 1: spoke about last Monday as while Jamie's not turning the
- 20:30Speaker 1: ball over and his previous games with the saints, remember
- 20:33Speaker 1: he was injured last year. Only three picks, mark, he
- 20:36Speaker 1: had three. Yesterday he matched that total. Yeah, Andrew, that
- 20:42Speaker 1: was the thirty pick in the season. Jameis Winson, that
- 20:45Speaker 1: Tampa Bay said we had enough of that, please go.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And that crept back up yesterday. And really what happens
- 20:51Speaker 1: with the player is is the regression to the mean
- 20:54Speaker 1: of what they really are. And Jamis didn't play. He
- 20:57Speaker 1: got hurt last year. So you kind of said, well,
- 20:59Speaker 1: he played well in spurts, but if that was a
- 21:02Speaker 1: full season, would we have seen these sort of game
- 21:05Speaker 1: creep back in to the season with Jamis. So as
- 21:08Speaker 1: of yesterday, yes we saw a cree back up last week,
- 21:12Speaker 1: did not play well for most of the game and
- 21:14Speaker 1: then he came on strong at the end. So he said,
- 21:16Speaker 1: Oh wow, he looks good now today. When the pressure yesterday,
- 21:20Speaker 1: when the pressure was on, uh, then he started making
- 21:22Speaker 1: mistakes again. So that's the issue with Jamis. Will Winston,
- 21:26Speaker 1: when he gets pressured, when he has to make plays, happen?
- 21:29Speaker 1: He forces things, the vision is off, he doesn't see
- 21:31Speaker 1: the coverages. So the concern with the saints is, is
- 21:35Speaker 1: he back to that Saint Jamis or can they keep
- 21:37Speaker 1: hiding these flaws? Because the way that defense played yesterday,
- 21:40Speaker 1: they had to win games like that and because they
- 21:42Speaker 1: did enough there, at least for three quarters, to hold
- 21:45Speaker 1: down Tom Brady? But you can't throw them the other
- 21:49Speaker 1: team the ball three times. Saints are in Carolina to
- 21:52Speaker 1: get the panthers next week and to thank you mark.
- 21:55Speaker 1: As the defending super bowl champions, they had plenty of
- 21:59Speaker 1: time to think about what happened against Buffalo and they
- 22:01Speaker 1: showed that they were planned. Rather they had planned they
- 22:04Speaker 1: were they came out, they executed. Poper Cup can't get
- 22:07Speaker 1: tackled in the red zone. He's good. Eleven for one
- 22:09Speaker 1: away a couple of sports. They're up three. All the
- 22:12Speaker 1: Falcons jokes three. Twitter took over and you guys aren't funny.
- 22:18Speaker 1: They made it interesting because the rams kept turning it over,
- 22:21Speaker 1: but Jalen Ramsey picked this and kind of ended it.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I mean there was still like a safety at all that. Anyway, Stafford,
- 22:31Speaker 1: that was definitely an interesting one at the end, probably
- 22:33Speaker 1: not the craziest I've been a part of, but you
- 22:35Speaker 1: know what happens and us his NFL football. Um, it's
- 22:38Speaker 1: hard to win and Atlanta played really well in week one.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Had A chance to win that game. We knew they
- 22:44Speaker 1: were gonna go away. Um, we give him some opportunities
- 22:46Speaker 1: to get back in the game through some plays that, Um,
- 22:48Speaker 1: we can clean up. There's no no question about that. Um.
- 22:51Speaker 1: But when we were playing good, we were playing at
- 22:52Speaker 1: a really, a really high clip, which was good to
- 22:54Speaker 1: see today. Right first half, Steve White, you at the game.
- 22:59Speaker 1: They're playing well. Matthew Stafford spreading the ball around. Hey,
- 23:02Speaker 1: it's Cam akers running hard. He got them said. Allen
- 23:05Speaker 1: Robinson's involved. They all got the message. But there are
- 23:09Speaker 1: too many turnovers and then you look up and you say,
- 23:11Speaker 1: wait a minute, the Falcons are in this game right.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I mean, look, they were intentional on getting Allen Robinson,
- 23:15Speaker 1: who had just two targets in week one and the
- 23:18Speaker 1: second one came in the final minute, involved in this game,
- 23:21Speaker 1: getting Cam achers involved in this game. Like you said,
- 23:23Speaker 1: they're spreading the ball out well, but when Bush came
- 23:25Speaker 1: the show, they still went to Cooper Cup, who just
- 23:27Speaker 1: made some absolutely amazing but he also had a fumble.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But he had a fumble late. They had a punt
- 23:32Speaker 1: block lade. The only time they punted in the game.
- 23:35Speaker 1: They had a block lad that resulted in a touchdown.
- 23:38Speaker 1: These are miscused of Rams. They can afford to get
- 23:40Speaker 1: away with them against the Falcons. They are not going
- 23:42Speaker 1: to be afford to be able to afford to make
- 23:44Speaker 1: these mistakes against teams like the forty niners. But the
- 23:47Speaker 1: rams are evolving right now and one thing that we
- 23:49Speaker 1: saw evolved yesterday Andrew, they were using I formations. They
- 23:54Speaker 1: were using a fullback, bence Garnic, who was a wide receiver,
- 23:57Speaker 1: but he's a big wide receiver, about six to thirty.
- 24:01Speaker 1: So they were coming up breaking the huddle an eleven personnel,
- 24:03Speaker 1: three wide, one tailed back, one tight end. He would
- 24:06Speaker 1: motion to fullback and they used that several times, much
- 24:09Speaker 1: like the niners use Kylie, use check. So now Sean
- 24:13Speaker 1: McVeigh has added a recal on film to this offense.
- 24:16Speaker 1: You heard me a minute ago. See that they're developing
- 24:18Speaker 1: and evolving. This is part of an evolution. It's something
- 24:21Speaker 1: we have not seen from this offense in years that
- 24:24Speaker 1: maybe they build upon right now, while they don't have
- 24:27Speaker 1: that game breaking wide receiver to take the top off
- 24:30Speaker 1: the defense with Van Jefferson out, also had brandon Powell,
- 24:33Speaker 1: a wide receiver, a return guy in the backfield a
- 24:35Speaker 1: little bit as well. Let's say this again for those
- 24:37Speaker 1: who didn't see it. Wide Receiver Ben Scronic was lining up,
- 24:42Speaker 1: putting his hand down. He's a big dude. He's a
- 24:46Speaker 1: big dude, but you don't look at him going yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: like has a fullback. No, you don't. Rams when they
- 24:51Speaker 1: get the cardinals coming up next, how about this wild,
- 24:55Speaker 1: crazy gonuts bunkers game in Baltimore? Or the Ravens had
- 24:59Speaker 1: won their last six openers and they were up whey
- 25:02Speaker 1: one to Lamar throo for over three D ran for
- 25:05Speaker 1: over a hundred. I mean that's absurd. But two at
- 25:08Speaker 1: the end it's finding tyreek kill downfield and then with
- 25:11Speaker 1: fourteen seconds left he finds Jalen waddle in the end
- 25:15Speaker 1: zone and they rally from down twenty one to stun
- 25:19Speaker 1: the Ravens. Here's Mike Get sicky and Ham Wolf. For
- 25:24Speaker 1: you guys as playmakers, having Tyreef, having Jalen, having yourself,
- 25:28Speaker 1: seeing all that speed on the field, what does that
- 25:31Speaker 1: do to defense? Is particularly there late in the game.
- 25:33Speaker 1: So I mean we got tyreek. I was expecting it
- 25:35Speaker 1: to open me up, but apparently they didn't cover him.
- 25:38Speaker 1: So I mean I if anybody in the finish probably
- 25:40Speaker 1: want to cover him. But on that on that last
- 25:42Speaker 1: toushout and the score man, they just they just busted
- 25:44Speaker 1: the cover. I don't know what it was. And he's
- 25:46Speaker 1: he's passing on everybody else and nobody's catching six touchdowns
- 25:48Speaker 1: today career. I have passed it. It looked like you
- 25:51Speaker 1: and Alabama Day is going back. What did that mean
- 25:53Speaker 1: to see two lead? You guys want to count it.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I mean it might be new to y'all, but for
- 25:58Speaker 1: us in our organization we know what he can do.
- 26:01Speaker 1: We company him. He'd company himself so it's just a
- 26:04Speaker 1: great to let you see that where we're we're already
- 26:07Speaker 1: like we know what he can do at the binding
- 26:09Speaker 1: moment for to a de bonding moment for you guys.
- 26:11Speaker 1: What a day. We saw a lot of waddle. Thank you.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Appreciate you guys. Problem. I mean if your number three,
- 26:19Speaker 1: Judy Batti, so you're writing about this, you were there,
- 26:22Speaker 1: read the article NFL DOT COM, you're number three for
- 26:24Speaker 1: two and we're talking about his confidence. Um, he looked
- 26:29Speaker 1: pretty confident yesterday. Actually, Jalen waddle said to before they
- 26:33Speaker 1: came with a touchdown, said in the huddle it's either
- 26:36Speaker 1: us or them, and it was them. Yeah, tyreek kill
- 26:41Speaker 1: actually said, like everybody who has doubted too, it can
- 26:44Speaker 1: just go watch the film from yesterday, and he said,
- 26:46Speaker 1: and also go back and find out what he said
- 26:49Speaker 1: in the huddle as the clock was winding down about,
- 26:52Speaker 1: you know, don't forget to hand the ball directly to
- 26:54Speaker 1: the official. We need to save seconds, like he was
- 26:56Speaker 1: really in command. To me, what we have seen from
- 27:00Speaker 1: two so far this year, and particularly yesterday, is the
- 27:03Speaker 1: result not just a putting so many playmakers around him
- 27:07Speaker 1: and not just putting a really good offensive line in
- 27:11Speaker 1: front of him this year. It's also having a coach
- 27:14Speaker 1: and a staff and teammates who believe in him. Let's
- 27:18Speaker 1: not forget what Tua has faced since he has been
- 27:20Speaker 1: the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins. He was benched. Uh
- 27:23Speaker 1: the owner is currently suspended for tampering to try to
- 27:26Speaker 1: get Tom Brady to become the quarterback, Um and, and
- 27:30Speaker 1: he's had former teammates like Ryan Fitzpatrick question named. Sean
- 27:33Speaker 1: Payton said last week he thought he would eventually be benched. Well,
- 27:36Speaker 1: not if he keeps performing this way. I think we
- 27:39Speaker 1: are finally seeing the full flowering of Tua, because he's
- 27:42Speaker 1: not only got pieces around him, he's got confidence because
- 27:45Speaker 1: the people around him have confidence in him. And between
- 27:49Speaker 1: TA and Tyreek Hill and Jalen waddle, they put up
- 27:53Speaker 1: a stat line that had not been seen by this
- 27:55Speaker 1: franchise since Marino and Mark Clayton and mark duper. That
- 28:02Speaker 1: is amazing. And they want in Baltimore and there two
- 28:04Speaker 1: and old bill is coming up next. Read Judy's article
- 28:06Speaker 1: NFL dot com slash Batiste. Thank you, Judy. And then
- 28:10Speaker 1: we had this one later in the afternoon in Dallas.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Cooper rush trying to do what he did last year
- 28:16Speaker 1: when he had his one start in Minnesota. Leave the
- 28:19Speaker 1: cowboys to victory. It opened well. Touchdown here to Noah Brown,
- 28:23Speaker 1: who almost had a hundred yards. DAC was in the building.
- 28:26Speaker 1: DAC was on the headset. Dak watched Joe Burrow rally
- 28:29Speaker 1: the bengals back. Here's burrow, here's tee higgins, one of
- 28:33Speaker 1: the players of burrow was not sacked. He got sacked
- 28:35Speaker 1: six times. Yesterday they tied with a two point inversion
- 28:39Speaker 1: and we're locked up at seventeen. But Brett Maher would
- 28:43Speaker 1: come on hit a fifty yard field goal and all
- 28:47Speaker 1: is well. In Dallas on Monday, Cooper nineteen of thirty
- 28:52Speaker 1: five yards in a touchdown. How did it feel to
- 28:55Speaker 1: have the confidence of this locker room going into this game? Yeah,
- 28:58Speaker 1: that's huge. That's all you wanted as a quarterback. You
- 29:00Speaker 1: want to respect to your teammates. Um, you know I'm
- 29:03Speaker 1: gonna able to just go out and play today and
- 29:05Speaker 1: truly a team win. Our defense, special teams, I mean
- 29:08Speaker 1: enough plays on offense. Um, it's really a team win.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Didn't help having Dak Prescott on the sidelines always. He's
- 29:14Speaker 1: always our leader. Um, he's always there helping everywhrown. Kuper
- 29:19Speaker 1: rush leads him to a victory. Unexpected contributions all over
- 29:23Speaker 1: the place. Jane Slater, you were there and what do
- 29:25Speaker 1: you know, everything feels a lot better today in Dallas,
- 29:28Speaker 1: doesn't it? What a difference a week makes, Andrew, and
- 29:33Speaker 1: particularly when you were coming down to the walk off
- 29:36Speaker 1: kick from Brett Maher, it could have been a very
- 29:39Speaker 1: different outcome that we're talking about here on Monday. But
- 29:42Speaker 1: I think a lot of people around here will take
- 29:44Speaker 1: a moral victory, and the reason why this win feels
- 29:46Speaker 1: good is because it felt like it was a true
- 29:48Speaker 1: team effort. There were so many unsung heroes, and one
- 29:50Speaker 1: of those specifically that I'd like to highlight is Noah Brown.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Five targets, ninety one yards. He's a guy that's been
- 29:56Speaker 1: around here for the last six years. He always shines
- 29:59Speaker 1: in the preseason, but we really saw him pop yesterday,
- 30:03Speaker 1: particularly on that first drive. Now keep in mind it
- 30:06Speaker 1: was Mike McCarthy decided to go for it on the
- 30:08Speaker 1: opening drive. Remember. I think it was what second and seven? Uh?
- 30:12Speaker 1: They or they decided to go for the fourth and two.
- 30:15Speaker 1: That was after they had the incomplete path. And then
- 30:18Speaker 1: he ends up getting it the touchdown on a second
- 30:20Speaker 1: and seven, simple bootleg, and then that seventh team yard
- 30:23Speaker 1: bomb after the fourth and two. That gave you a
- 30:25Speaker 1: new set of downs and then, oh, by the way, uh,
- 30:28Speaker 1: they hit him again on a third and ten. Comes
- 30:30Speaker 1: up with twenty eight yards. Then you set up Tony
- 30:32Speaker 1: Pollard for a score two plays later. You know, as
- 30:35Speaker 1: Cooper rush talking about, the fact they've gotten so much
- 30:37Speaker 1: time in with the twos together and that's why you
- 30:40Speaker 1: saw some of that success from Noah Brown. so I
- 30:43Speaker 1: anticipate they're hoping that he can continue to grow in
- 30:46Speaker 1: that role and keep feeding cooper rush the ball. I
- 30:48Speaker 1: talked about in the last hour. It looks like Dak
- 30:50Speaker 1: Prescott is not playing in this giants game on Monday
- 30:53Speaker 1: night football, but they are not ruling out the fact
- 30:57Speaker 1: he could come back as early as week four against
- 30:59Speaker 1: the commanders. We are keeping an eye on at least
- 31:03Speaker 1: two guys this week. Dalton Schultz came up with a
- 31:06Speaker 1: little bit of a knee situation after that game. Stephen
- 31:09Speaker 1: Jones on one of five to be the fans and
- 31:10Speaker 1: that they are monitoring that. But some good news for
- 31:12Speaker 1: the wide Receiver Corps. Looks like Michael Gallup is looking
- 31:15Speaker 1: like he could easily play on Monday night football, and
- 31:18Speaker 1: that's results of two weeks where they've been ramping him
- 31:20Speaker 1: up in some team drills. All right, Michael Gallop, trying
- 31:22Speaker 1: to come back from the A C L injury. He
- 31:25Speaker 1: could be on the field week three, Monday night in
- 31:28Speaker 1: New York against the two and oh giants. I mean
- 31:31Speaker 1: think about a week from tonight. Coming up next the
- 31:34Speaker 1: world's most interesting wide receiver. Get to know Amen Ross
- 31:40Speaker 1: St Brown, because he is the real thing. That's next,
- 31:49Speaker 1: Laities and gentlemen, how about your Detroit Lions? It's a
- 31:53Speaker 1: two thousand and sixteen, one and two overall pick quarterback
- 31:57Speaker 1: battle with Carson Wentz and the commanders, who were down
- 32:00Speaker 1: twenty two to nothing because Aidan Hutchinson had three sacks,
- 32:05Speaker 1: the first three of his NFL career. But this was
- 32:07Speaker 1: a game. Late made a twenty nine to twenty one
- 32:10Speaker 1: before Jared Goff hit M on Ross St Brown. He
- 32:13Speaker 1: is tri lingual, everybody. He speaks French, he speaks German,
- 32:17Speaker 1: he speaks English. Actually speaks four languages. He speaks Toan Campbell. Listen,
- 32:24Speaker 1: we've got the guys that are there. They'RE gonna THEY'RE
- 32:27Speaker 1: gonna go to work and no matter what happens, uh,
- 32:30Speaker 1: they're gonna put in the work, they're gonna try to
- 32:32Speaker 1: get better, they're going to compete. So that's never gonna
- 32:36Speaker 1: be the issue. But to be able to get our
- 32:37Speaker 1: win man early in the season, week two, it just
- 32:40Speaker 1: get early validation as to what we're doing, and we're
- 32:43Speaker 1: doing that without with really out all our bullets. You know,
- 32:46Speaker 1: we got some guys out and and it just everything
- 32:49Speaker 1: that we've talked about. Next man up, do your job,
- 32:52Speaker 1: help us win, uh, and we did that. Lions get
- 32:56Speaker 1: the Vikings next. Who could be two and old. That's
- 32:59Speaker 1: what the giants would try to do. Yesterday, for the
- 33:01Speaker 1: first time since this was a field goal and turnover
- 33:05Speaker 1: fest until Daniel bellinger levitated fourth round. Rookie had of
- 33:09Speaker 1: San Diego saying, look at that, he's he got it,
- 33:12Speaker 1: that's that's a touchdown, first career for Daniel bellinger. His
- 33:15Speaker 1: family damns me on twitter, says why aren't you talking
- 33:18Speaker 1: more about Daniel Bellinger? There we did it and they're
- 33:20Speaker 1: Graham good old did it. Field Goal Nineteen Sixteen, Stacy
- 33:26Speaker 1: Dale's with Sa Kwond. You gotta Gi a defensive spect
- 33:30Speaker 1: caroline did really a good job. You can see. You know,
- 33:32Speaker 1: the focus coming here and stop the run. But at
- 33:35Speaker 1: the end of day, his team football. All the guys
- 33:36Speaker 1: stepped up. Daniel makes some big plays, all on made
- 33:38Speaker 1: big plays. Skill, God and made big plays. And you're
- 33:41Speaker 1: at the end of the day, defense made big place
