Transcript
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Hey folks, Bruce Parkman here with Broken Brains, the official podcast of the Mac Parkman Foundation, and I got one heck of an announcement.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: This is our hundredth podcast.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Like 100, man.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: 100.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: When we started this puppy, we had no idea what we were going to get into.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: But obviously, there is an audience out here that wants to hear about this, the issues of repetitive brain trauma, repetitive head impacts, and repetitive blast exposure.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, as we look at the problem right now, it affects millions of Americans, and all of those Americans are being poorly served.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: And we have, you know, a lot of them suffering in silence because they don't know there's help and they don't know there's hope.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And that's the whole purpose of the show.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's not to yell at people and point out that somebody's failed and somebody has to do their job.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: It's all about how do we make this better?
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: We have children dying.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: We have veterans dying.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: You know, we have people suffering.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, we got all this other aspects of medical life that are against the cure, against getting movement, against getting action done to this and solving this problem.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And that's why you're here.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And that's why you've been with us.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And I want to take a moment out and say thank you so much.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Thank you for your questions.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Thank you for the recommendations of guests.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Thank you for spreading the word.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Thank you for reaching out.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And above all, thank you in the name of our son, Mac Parkman, for what you've done.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, the fact that we're still on this earth and have a legacy of hope and change in the name of a young man who did nothing wrong.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: He played Contact Sports.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: His parents didn't know, just like many of them out there, or almost all of them, but he's not here.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: And this is preventable, and it has to stop.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And it starts, that stoppage starts with not only this show, but you.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: You the listener.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Because everybody you talk to, every time you touch somebody, there's a life that's been changed.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: You have taken the trajectory of a child that could possibly be mentally ill in high school or later on in life and changed their life by just spreading the word and creating the common sense, the common sense creating a buffer of common sense out there that says we need to wait.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: And sometimes maybe we don't play at all.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So from the bottom of mine and Perry's heart, from our foundation, from my service as a veteran to you, our audience, and the future folks that will listen to this show, thank you so much.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I honestly didn't think we'd get past episode five.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: We made it to 100.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And it's and I just want to say thank you so much for your support, for your commitment, and we encourage you again, keep sending in the ideas, help us make the show better, give us more feedback, and we appreciate every one of you out there.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: God bless you all, and we'll see you on episode 101 and here in a few.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Thank you again from Broken Brains with Bruce Parkman, the official podcast of the Mac Parkman Foundation.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
