- Sean Graver: The first seven years you gave everything. You cared about the mission, the people, the outcomes, but somewhere along the way that caring is worn thin. Now you're burned out, mostly checked out of the office politics and drama, and staring down another ten or fifteen years of work you need to keep showing up for. You know you need to find some kind of motivation again. You're just not sure where to find it. Well, my name is Sean, and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. You know, the prophet Isaiah writes something for this kind of depleted season in Isaiah 40, verse 31. But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. I love the order in that verse and and I think it's significant. Waiting comes first, not hustling harder, not manufacturing enthusiasm through just willpower. I mean, renewal comes from actually waiting on God, not from pushing yourself back into passion through effort alone. Now, burnout usually isn't fixed by trying harder to care, it's fixed by rest. By honesty about what actually drained you, and by rebuilding your energy from somewhere other than the job itself. Now that might mean bringing your exhaustion just honestly to God instead of pretending it isn't there. It might mean finding some meaning outside of your job title, maybe in your faith or your family or your own growth. So your job doesn't have to be the only source of purpose in your life. You don't have to fake passion that you don't feel right now. You just have to keep showing up honestly while you let God rebuild your strength under it. So let's pray. God, we're tired in a way that goes a bit deeper than just needing a vacation. Help us be honest about what's actually Draining us instead of pretending that everything is fine. Teach us to wait on you instead of trying to force our way back to motivation. And renew our strength in your timing and help us find meaning that doesn't depend entirely on our job to sustain us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Go make today count.
