- 0:09>> Hello. >> Hi. >> I've woken up specially for this show,
- 0:13which is normally strange cuz normally it's you are the one waking up.
- 0:16>> I mean, I I am awake. >> Yes, >> I did wake up. Yeah, luckily. You know,
- 0:20you never know at our age. [laughter] >> Oh, I don't know. I slept for
- 0:26what? 12 hours. 18 [laughter] hours today.
- 0:33>> 18 hours? >> Yes. >> That's interesting. Huh. >> That's not right.
- 0:39>> I don't think I've ever slept that long. >> I I woke up. Woke up a couple of times,
- 0:44then I just >> went back to sleep. >> Go back to sleep.
- 0:48>> Well, I hope you're okay. >> So do I. >> We'll uh we'll see if you make it
- 0:54through the show. >> Yeah. >> Maybe you'll be the geek of the week by
- 0:57the end of this. Baby, [laughter] I know why I went to sleep at 3:00 a.m. >> Okay.
- 1:04>> Cuz I've been playing forts of Horizon 6. >> Oh,
- 1:07>> I saw the time. I'm going to bed now. >> Okay. But I want to Okay. Well, I I
- 1:13obviously I'm concerned about you, >> but I also am concerned about Fors of
- 1:16Horizon 6. So, um I don't know. >> I'm enjoying it so far. Um I'm playing
- 1:22it early cuz I've got the digital deluxe version. >> Right. Right. But I got the premium
- 1:28upgrade. >> So it's >> it's where you get 18 hours of sleep with the game.
- 1:34>> Yeah. Well, it's where you get three you get the game like 3 days early or
- 1:38something and you get all the DLC and everything. >> Yeah.
- 1:42>> The price of it has jumped up quite a lot though.
- 1:46>> How much is Fortza Horizon 6? Well, see, I've only purchased like the deluxe
- 1:53upgrade the last few times because it comes on Game Pass and I probably get it
- 1:57early and get everything else. >> The past few times it's been about $50, which is
- 2:03>> fine. >> Well, well, I was going to say that's a lot, but okay. Yep.
- 2:07>> Well, it comes with the two DLCs that I deal >> already have, but
- 2:12>> this one cost me $96. >> Jesus Christ. Like it's nearly doubled
- 2:16in price just to get the upgrade. That's not even the game. >> Yeah. Right.
- 2:22>> So, it's nearly $200 for the game and all the DLC and the early access and
- 2:28everything, which is >> I've been hearing very good things about
- 2:31it, but now I'm looking at it and it's got mixed reviews on Steam. Is that I'm
- 2:37going to scroll down. Is that because it's expensive or something? >> I
- 2:43I'm not sure. Like I'm enjoying it's the same. It's the same as any other Forza
- 2:47game. It's Horizon game. It's >> could be >> someone's got a problem with
- 2:54performance. >> Performance. Yeah. >> With App Hawkins.
- 3:00>> That's a normal thing with games coming out on PC that they have issues at the start.
- 3:07>> Yeah. I'm trying to >> which is the reason why I think like GTA
- 3:116 like that won't come out to PC for a
- 3:13year after console so they can >> focus on it. >> Yeah. A lot of people having issues
- 3:20getting it to work apparently on PC. All right. But on the cockbox it's fine.
- 3:26>> Yep. You install your play. >> Yeah. All right. Where is this one set?
- 3:30>> It's set in Japan. >> Oh, that's fun. >> Yes.
- 3:35>> H All right. So, you get to drive around Tokyo, then head out and drive around
- 3:39the countryside and up the mountains. Yeah. >> Um, I mean, I'd be interested in this game.
- 3:46Uh, >> they're they're a fun, easy game. Like,
- 3:50it's not as serious as the actual main series. The Horizon, >> right,
- 3:55>> is Horizon fun. >> Yeah. Like there's the the bits where
- 4:00you chase a jet and all that silliness. >> Yeah. Earlier ones, it's like Yeah. It's
- 4:05just more Yeah, it's more casual, but >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Where anyone can
- 4:11>> It's like arcade. Yeah. Although I think you can set it to be more realistic,
- 4:16right? But I generally >> I do that. I do turn on like simulation
- 4:20steering. Turn off all the traction control and all of that. >> Do you? >> Yeah.
- 4:26>> Learn something about you. Okay. Do you use your steering wheel to play it? >> Yep.
- 4:32>> Huh. So yeah, I turn all of that stuff off so it is a bit more. And I
- 4:37>> You turn off traction control when you drive a real car. >> Yeah. >> Why?
- 4:42>> What do you need it for? No, I leave it on when I'm driving a real car. It's fun
- 4:46driving in the computer game with it off. >> Yeah, sure.
- 4:50>> Yeah. Not in real life. The god, though. It's there for a reason to keep me alive.
- 4:55>> Yeah. All right. [snorts] Cool. All right. So, how much have you played of it?
- 5:02Um, I don't know. I think I finished like So, there's
- 5:07I think seven to nine wristbands that you're going to get. I've got the one.
- 5:14>> Okay. And what kind of car are you driving at the moment?
- 5:17>> Oh, I drive a different car every time. >> Okay.
- 5:19>> I just buy a new car every time cuz I assume that'll lead to an achievement of
- 5:24some sort. >> I haven't actually checked the achievements. I've just been playing it.
- 5:27>> [ __ ] I don't believe you. >> I haven't. I promise. Cuz
- 5:32this one you can just play the game to a certain point and then worry about the
- 5:36achievements later. >> I'm checking them now.
- 5:42>> Wait, why why are you saying that? Why why can you worry about the achievements later?
- 5:46>> Well, there's it's not like in some games where it's um there's missable
- 5:51achievements or anything. >> Oh, okay. All right. I see.
- 5:56>> Like if it's a storydriven game, you can it's easy to miss achievements. So that's why
- 6:01>> story driven, right? >> Oh, there's a story to it, but the
- 6:05achievements aren't going to be related really to that apart from progressing up
- 6:09to get wristbands. >> Okay,
- 6:14>> let me put in >> Thank you. But I'll check the
- 6:20achievements now. >> All right, [snorts] >> we've got a already got 17 of them.
- 6:27[laughter] >> You have? You didn't even notice. >> I knew I was getting them, but yeah,
- 6:33they all like earn you different wristbands, >> right?
- 6:38>> Discover different regions. >> Okay. >> Complete five to battles. I don't know
- 6:44what they are yet. >> Is it the whole of Japan or just a section of Japan? >> It's uh
- 6:51it's got different parts of Japan. You're not It's not the map of Japan,
- 6:54you know. The reason I ask is cuz the one that was set in the UK had like >> Edinburgh and
- 7:01>> Yeah, it was like kind of like the UK but not really.
- 7:05>> It's the same as this one. Like it's got different parts of Japan just all
- 7:09crammed in together. >> Okay. Yeah. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Oh, cool.
- 7:13>> But like when you were driving through Edinburgh, that was Edinburgh,
- 7:18>> right? Yeah. Yeah. Sort of. Yeah. >> Sort of. >> You could recognize
- 7:22>> I could recognize parts of >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah.
- 7:28>> No, I've walked down that street. >> I like these games. I would play it. I
- 7:31don't have time, so I won't, but I would. >> No,
- 7:36>> there is a game that I highly recommend that you do play. >> Okay. >> Mixtape.
- 7:42>> Mixtape. >> Yes. >> This game came out at Game Pass just
- 7:47recently. It's about three friends who are spending their last night together and
- 7:54one the main character you're playing has created a mixtape of her time
- 7:57together with her friends that's going to be sent off and the music is great.
- 8:02>> I saw what I thought was a clip of this and that doesn't sound like what I saw at all.
- 8:09>> Oh yeah. No, >> only because let me let me tell you what
- 8:12I saw and I thought this was mixtape. >> Yep. >> Is a kid running through a field. Is
- 8:17that part Is that in this game? >> That is in this game. >> Okay. All right.
- 8:21>> So, each of the levels are sort of like I would call them mini games, but
- 8:26there's different sort of >> things that happen throughout. >> Yeah. Okay.
- 8:30>> Like there's a skateboarding section. There's a section where you're sort of
- 8:33flying through the air. There's a section where you're running through a field. >> Okay.
- 8:37>> There's just different things, but it's more of a that's sort of in between the
- 8:41levels of talking to your friends, visiting memories. >> Interesting.
- 8:46>> Yeah. heard. But no, it's a really good game. >> And is the soundtrack
- 8:53um like licensed music or is it Yeah. Okay. All right.
- 8:57>> So, it's actually it's got um Silver Chair, Spashing Pumpkins. >> Oh, interesting.
- 9:03>> Like it's Yeah. >> And Yeah. No, I just really enjoyed it. It's
- 9:09not a long game either. >> I mean, it does it. Yeah. Yeah. I got
- 9:13the impression that it was like a little indie game,
- 9:16>> little short thing. Is it indie? Is it actually indie? >> Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it is.
- 9:22>> Yeah. >> Yeah. Cool. >> No. No. Highly recommend. Definitely
- 9:27worth a play, especially if you got Game Pass installed right now.
- 9:32>> I don't I don't know you. >> But I'm talking to our listeners. >> Oh, gotcha. Them?
- 9:37>> Yes. They may have game pass. >> I forgot they were here. >> Yeah. Um that
- 9:43>> I might get Game Pass again. Uh >> well, now the price has dropped.
- 9:49>> Yeah, but I don't It's It's too late now. Like if if they hadn't put it up, I
- 9:54might have kept it >> and I wouldn't have [clears throat] thought about it. But now
- 9:56>> And now you got to But now buying it back again.
- 9:58>> It's been what, a year since I had it and I've not missed it cuz I don't I've
- 10:03realized, oh, I don't play my Xbox that often and when I do play it, I own the
- 10:07games that I want to play. M. >> So, and like not being able to play a
- 10:13game is like, oh, okay. >> Well, this one is also you could
- 10:19actually just buy this for the cost of game pass, I think.
- 10:21>> Yeah. Right. That, too. Yeah. I think it in general it would be cheaper for me to
- 10:26buy games that I wanted to play. >> Yeah. >> Than to have Game Pass. I just because it's
- 10:30>> because you forget it's there and you don't have time.
- 10:33>> That's right. All right. And when I do have time, I play uh June Awakening,
- 10:37>> which is playing or I play now uh I was already already went back to this game
- 10:43and now I've gone back to it even more. Conan Exiles Enhanced
- 10:48>> cuz you really just >> [ __ ] dumped >> you just played dumped the [ __ ]
- 10:54Unreal Engine 5 remake of Code and Exiles. >> Yep. >> On everybody >> and
- 11:00>> and you just can't get enough of it now. I mean, it's a good game. It's fun. Uh,
- 11:04and now it looks incredible. So, >> because it did look very Jakey last time.
- 11:10>> It did. It did. I I know we already talked about this. I just I've still
- 11:13been playing it a little bit and uh mods are getting updated. The only problem I
- 11:18have is um I'm playing this on GeForce Now. >> Yep. >> And
- 11:24mods on GeForce Now can be clunky. >> Yeah. >> Because it's not on your computer. So
- 11:29basically every time you launch it, it supposed to like
- 11:33>> it was working properly. It like downloads all the DLC that you own,
- 11:37which is all of it now. By the way, Conan Xiles is on sale, so there's no
- 11:40DLC I don't [laughter] have now. Um and and all your mods and stuff, and then
- 11:45when you launch the game, uh and from the
- 11:50you know, games have launches on PC where you start the game, doesn't
- 11:54actually start the game, it starts the little window that lets you [ __ ] around
- 11:57with stuff. >> Yep. um FunCon game, Funcom games, you
- 12:01can toggle mods and stuff on and off in there. And you have to do that on
- 12:05GeForce Now because >> if you launch the game and then you go
- 12:09in and you say inside the game, you say, "I want to use these mods, it says you
- 12:12have to restart the game to activate the mods." >> On GeForce Now, when the game exits, it
- 12:18closes the whole thing. >> And so you have to remember to
- 12:21>> then you launch it again and then now it's forgotten everything because Yeah.
- 12:26Do you have many mods that you're using, you know, on code?
- 12:29>> I'm using one currently. I'm using two mods right now. Uh, and they're all
- 12:34around just character customization just to give you more options and you can um
- 12:39customize whenever you want. >> Bigger breasts. >> No, [snorts] no, [laughter]
- 12:45the default is too beef for me. Sorry, we don't we don't have to do this. [laughter]
- 12:50But Koden in particular has an aesthetic and it's it's it's just bigger than my
- 12:56tastes out of the box. That's just let's leave it at that.
- 12:59>> Yep. So you got to shrink them down a bit. Just >> just a little bit.
- 13:03>> Just I find them excessive. >> But the penis is big
- 13:08>> obviously. >> And in the game also. >> Yes.
- 13:14>> Penis is big. >> Uh yeah. And so yeah. So, I got one that
- 13:20you can just toggle to edit things. >> Yeah. >> Cuz we've talked about this before.
- 13:25>> When you first make a character, it always ends up you get in the game and
- 13:30you go, [sighs] I didn't know they were going to look like that. >> Yeah. [laughter]
- 13:34>> So, >> the face is just never quite right. >> Yeah. And so, not that I'm I'm not
- 13:40changing it frequently. It was just so once I get in and I see myself running
- 13:45around, I can say, "Okay, I need to fix something." >> Yeah. and without having to go and
- 13:49restart the entire game again. >> Yep. Um
- 13:55anyway, yeah, it's great. Nothing much else to say about it. It's a game that's
- 13:58been around for 10 years at this point. >> Yeah.
- 14:04Uh on the topic of Xbox, or should I say Xbox,
- 14:10because I thought it already was
- 14:14all capitals Xbox at some point. And then at some point it went just to
- 14:21capital X lowercase box. Yeah. >> Now it's uh it's all capital Xbox again.
- 14:27>> But I'm not Am I crazy? It was all capital Xbox at some point, right?
- 14:30>> I I don't quite remember. >> I always I know that the lowerase one
- 14:36I've always seen, but No. >> Okay. I remember. I always used to
- 14:41capitalize it, but maybe I'm just an idiot. Well, apparently not because
- 14:44Microsoft is like they're now they did a
- 14:48poll on Twi on on X on Twitter asking whether they should use Xbox with a
- 14:54capital X lowerase box or all capitals Xbox and everybody says all caps and so
- 15:01>> they did it or they're going to do it. >> Oh, the use of all caps is a return to
- 15:06original form. Microsoft's first Xbox logo was in all caps.
- 15:10>> Ah, so you were remembering correctly. >> Yeah. And it's done that for
- 15:16360 Xbox One and Xbox Series XS console logos. Okay. All right. So, it's just
- 15:23like All right. [snorts] >> It's going back to the original Xbox era,
- 15:28>> I guess. So, so just be mindful when you message me
- 15:34and when you speak, make sure you're saying it in all caps. >> Okay. I will remember that.
- 15:40>> People will not know what you're talking about.
- 15:42>> Yes. Yes, cuz it will change the way you pronounce.
- 15:46>> There's no no exclamation point, so you don't have to yell. Well, you are
- 15:49yelling, but you don't have to. >> Yeah, just Xbox. >> Just slightly more emphasis.
- 15:55>> I was playing my Xbox the other day and >> Yeah. >> Yeah, >> exactly.
- 16:00>> Um, and the other Xbox news is that there are some leaked photographs of
- 16:06what is allegedly the new Xbox cloud gaming controller.
- 16:11I am going to call [ __ ] >> It looks [ __ ] weird, dude. Why
- 16:15wouldn't it just be an Xbox controller? >> Exactly. This does not look comfortable
- 16:20in your hair. >> It looks terrible. It looks like uh not
- 16:24that there's anything wrong with uh what's that company 8bit do. They make
- 16:28good controllers, but they make ones that look like this. It looks like one
- 16:31of them. Just like a third party controller. >> Yeah. I I honestly do not believe that
- 16:36this is this is correct.
- 16:41Yeah, I mean I I I agree. >> I don't understand why it wouldn't just be this.
- 16:47>> This is an excellent controller. There's no need for it to be anything other than this.
- 16:53>> Yeah. Like looking at these pictures, it's
- 16:57>> it's more portable. It look Yeah. But >> Oh, it literally says here it looks
- 17:02similar to third party options from 8bit do and HyperX.
- 17:06>> Yeah. Now, I'm convinced that this is >> he's just made one or printed one off
- 17:13and >> cuz >> Yeah.
- 17:19>> Yes, it's got the buttons, but it looks Yeah, it doesn't look comfortable in
- 17:24your hand for long periods of gaming. >> Yeah, I agree. Unless the goal is to
- 17:30just have it be smaller and more portable. Um but like I don't know, man. Yeah.
- 17:37>> Yeah. So, you're playing cloud, but it's not like the Xbox controller is super
- 17:43chunky or anything. It's >> No, no, but if you're going to throw
- 17:47this in a backpack, right, this does take up more room than presumably that
- 17:52>> that would that kind cuz that's more of a just a little
- 17:55>> But I What I'm also looking at for Xbox new cloud gaming is that this be sort of
- 18:00a a replacement for having an Xbox completely even at home. >> Yeah. Yeah,
- 18:06>> you just use this. >> Yeah. With like a,
- 18:11you know, a dongle or a streaming service or or whatever.
- 18:15>> Yeah. Like I'm not even thinking about traveling cuz to make traveling,
- 18:22>> it seems like a bit excessive and yeah, people just buying this to
- 18:27play at home just so they don't have to buy a full Xbox and they just stream everything.
- 18:32Yeah, they would just make it just as a plain controller. So now I reckon this is a lie.
- 18:39[laughter] >> Call me out with lie. >> Yes.
- 18:44>> Now I just need someone going that is in fact trueing.
- 18:51>> I love that show. >> It might be my favorite show.
- 18:55It's so good. Would I lie to you is the show in question in case
- 18:59>> and Lee Mac is just so quick. Lee Mack
- 19:02is ridiculous. Uh yeah. Uh Lee Mack and David Mitchell. I love David Mitchell as well.
- 19:09>> Um >> Oh, I haven't watched the TV show. I need to watch more of it. Is uh the
- 19:12season two of what? Of last one laughing. >> Oh yes. >> Um
- 19:19>> I've only seen one episode actually now that I think about it. I don't didn't
- 19:22find out who laughed. Someone laughed and they haven't I haven't
- 19:25>> Yeah, they have been doing a bit like this episode that season.
- 19:30>> Although it's the kind of show normally I would just keep watching it. >> Yeah.
- 19:34>> And it wouldn't matter. But yeah, there was a reason I think it was like late
- 19:38one night we put one on and um >> Yep. >> Anyway,
- 19:43>> cuz Yeah, it is a good just have binging show. It's >> Yeah,
- 19:48it's funny as hell. >> Yes. Uh, I'm I love that Bob's back and uh
- 19:55>> yeah, good cast is Oh, every season has had >> it's just so I think it's sort of a
- 20:01pretty cheap show for them to make. >> Absolutely. Unless they have to pay
- 20:05Well, they have to pay them all for their time.
- 20:06>> They have to pay them all. You're paying them for a day's work.
- 20:10>> Yeah, exactly. Get in a room for a day. >> Yep.
- 20:14>> Done. I think a lot of those shows are like that. Like uh eight out of 10 Cats. Um
- 20:19>> Yeah. Would I Lie to You? Like that's not an expensive show to produce. And I
- 20:24reckon bang for buck. >> That's got to be good for them. Like >> Yeah.
- 20:30Like I know even with um Taskmaster, they'll film like >> even that
- 20:34>> they can't be expensive either. >> No, cuz they get the they'll get the
- 20:38sort of the cast members out there for >> a few days >> and then in show
- 20:44they film like two shows back to back, >> right? in the in the studio.
- 20:48>> In the studio. So, >> yeah. >> So, yeah, you knock them out in a week.
- 20:53>> Yeah. And then bam. >> Yep. Let the money roll in.
- 20:59>> I wonder if they do What I Like to You multiples stacked like that.
- 21:04>> I I reckon they do at least two shows back toback. >> Yeah, it's interesting.
- 21:09They have different guests though. They also do uh You see the bits that
- 21:16didn't make it. sometimes in special episodes. I wonder how many more there are >> of um
- 21:23>> bits they cut out because I sometimes you know they have a guest on who's not
- 21:25a comedian. >> Yes. >> And sometimes they go well, sometimes
- 21:29they don't. And I uh there was an interview with Rob Bryen where he said
- 21:33that's the host of this show in case anyone doesn't know who Rob Bden is.
- 21:37>> And they asked him has you ever had a guest on would I lie to you who was a problem
- 21:42[clears throat] >> like was difficult or it didn't work out
- 21:45or whatever? He said, "Just once." I guess I'm not going to tell you who it is. >> Mhm.
- 21:48>> But yeah, once we did have a problem and I was like, "Oh, I wonder what that means."
- 21:54>> It's the same with um Taskmaster. There's one guest, there's one
- 21:59contestant that they've said they'd never have back. >> Really? >> And they don't say who,
- 22:04>> of course. Yeah, that's interesting. >> But he said like cuz he said it publicly
- 22:10and then he's gone like a few people have reached out and asked me if it was
- 22:13them. Not one of the people who's reached out has it been them. I think
- 22:17this person does not care either. >> I have a theory. >> Oh, do you?
- 22:22>> I reckon it's Julian Clary. >> Really? Okay, man. I haven't I haven't
- 22:28heard of Julian [laughter] Clary in a long time.
- 22:31>> I think he was sort of there going like, why am I on this show? Like, this is
- 22:35>> sure beneath me. >> [ __ ] Julian Clary.
- 22:43It could be. I mean, >> been around for a long time. I don't
- 22:48want to misgender Julian Clary. Do we
- 22:50know what their preference is?
- 22:55>> I'm just going to go with Julian Clary. >> Wikipedia is going with he. I'll go with he.
- 23:00>> Uh, yeah. Yeah, he's been around [ __ ] >> forever.
- 23:05>> Yeah. So, I can see that. Maybe this is a new fangled thing that >> Yeah. Yeah,
- 23:10>> he doesn't get >> Yeah, >> maybe [clears throat]
- 23:15cuz Taskmaster is odd.
- 23:19>> You You need to think differently. >> Yeah, like just as a show it's odd. Like
- 23:24when I first watched it, I was like I don't What is this? Like it's it's kind of
- 23:28>> like it's great and it's funny, >> but it is it's just it's a bit weird.
- 23:32Like it's not a traditional format show. >> No. >> In a way. Like Yeah.
- 23:39Maybe he didn't understand the show. >> Or maybe it's somebody else. Maybe it's
- 23:43somebody else. >> Maybe it's somebody else. Or it's just this is just my
- 23:45>> Maybe it's Romesh for some reason. Even though he [laughter] seems [ __ ] awesome.
- 23:53>> Um movies. Oh, I watched uh Project Hary
- 24:00again. Loved it again. >> Yeah. >> Just on is it on streaming now or did
- 24:03you go to the movies? It's It's on a certain streaming service.
- 24:09>> It's on a certain streaming service that only I have access to. I don't know. Is
- 24:13anyone What is it? Project Hell [laughter] Mary Streaming.
- 24:18>> It'll be on Amazon. >> Can you stream Project Hail Mary yet?
- 24:22Yes, it came out on May 12th on streaming services, [clears throat]
- 24:27which is where I watched it. >> Yep. Cuz today is the 16th of May, so
- 24:33that lines up perfectly. And that's my story. Um, so I watched it uh again and
- 24:40it's great. >> Yeah. >> Yep. >> Continues to be great.
- 24:43>> I did go to the movies. I only saw one movie that I didn't manage to get there
- 24:47twice unfortunately. >> I saw Mortal Kombat 2.
- 24:52>> I was disappointed. >> Really? >> I was sort of cuz I liked the first one.
- 24:58>> Commenters on YouTube would be vindicated. >> Yes. They made fun of you for liking the
- 25:03first one. [laughter] >> Yes. >> I don't know what I enjoyed the first one.
- 25:08>> The second one >> I see what they were trying to do. It
- 25:13just didn't work. So >> Johnny Cage gets called up to be a
- 25:18fighter and he's not want nothing to do with this. I'm going back. And I
- 25:23understand there's meant to be sort of a storyline where he know I need to come
- 25:27and fight and save the world and become the hero and all this and >> that just happens
- 25:33in two seconds. Like there's no real story arc for him. It's just >> right.
- 25:38>> No, I don't want to do it. Yes, I'm going to save everyone. >> Okay.
- 25:43>> And they have lined it up for a third one. I don't know if they will get it.
- 25:48>> Like as if they'll You think this one's going to flop? Yeah.
- 25:53>> What do the reviews say? Mortal Kombat 2. Let's see.
- 25:58Uh, okay. It's not bad. >> Yeah. [sighs] Look >> in this.
- 26:04>> I mean, I like the story more than the fighting, I think. And I think that was
- 26:09the case of the first one.
- 26:11>> Why is a white man Shiao Kahan?
- 26:17>> You don't have an answer for that? >> I don't have an answer [laughter] for
- 26:20that. All right, just checking. Fair enough. [gasps]
- 26:25I mean, okay. Uh, okay. Josh Lawson's Ko.
- 26:32>> Yep. He comes back. >> Shang Tsung is this guy. Oh, yeah.
- 26:38Kungla's in there. Yeah. Okay. >> I just don't understand why Shia Khan is
- 26:43Wasia Kan. What? >> I think he was actually >> Khan was white in the original. Oh, it
- 26:50was undetermined. Okay. >> Yeah, >> I guess I just always assumed
- 26:55given the name. >> Uh, >> that's what you get for assuming.
- 27:02>> Yeah, I guess so. [snorts] >> That's what you get. All right. Um,
- 27:08>> yeah. >> With Street Fighter out. Maybe Street Fighter will be more up.
- 27:11>> Maybe Street Fighter. Street Fighter's out later this year. Maybe that will be.
- 27:16But I I Yeah, I don't like the fighting
- 27:19in the in the games in the movies. >> Fighting in the games. I got bad news
- 27:24for you. [laughter] [clears throat] >> There's not much else. You don't like
- 27:29the fighting in the movie? [snorts] >> No, it's the fighting sort of boring. I
- 27:32like it if there's sort of story that's happening during the fight as well.
- 27:36>> Yeah, that's [clears throat] not what Excuse me. H. It's kind of like when I
- 27:42watch the porn where I watch for the actual movie, not the porn, >> right? Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:47>> Like when I watch the Star Wars >> through the through the
- 27:50>> Yeah. Fast forward through the sex and >> Yeah. [clears throat] Get to the plot.
- 27:53>> Watch the story. >> Yeah. Find out what that sister got up to. >> Yeah.
- 27:59>> She was at school or wherever she was.
- 28:02>> That 30-year-old steps sister. [laughter]
- 28:09>> Well, no. I can't watch porn in Australia, so
- 28:12>> Oh, yeah. How's that going? I mean, you don't have to talk about it if you don't
- 28:16want to talk about it on the show. >> Has not changed my life at all.
- 28:20>> VPN is what you're saying. Wink wink. >> Well, I have read an article that like
- 28:25VPN sales have gone up like 12,000%. And because it's just it's not just in
- 28:30Australia either. There's a few other there's states in America.
- 28:35>> Yeah. Yeah. And they've just pulled out of wink wink. [laughter] I don't think
- 28:41Hang on. pornhub.com to see what happens.
- 28:48It wants to know how old I am. I am 18 or older. >> Said that. >> What?
- 28:54>> You think a lot of stepsisters?
- 28:56>> I'm seeing a very strange AI video.
- 29:01That is very strange. I don't think I want to know what you're seeing at the moment.
- 29:07>> It's create your own AI [ __ ] And this
- 29:12person seems to have created a Oh god, no. [laughter]
- 29:18That That's really [ __ ] weird. It's like a small p a small like woman. Not
- 29:25like a little person. Like it's a AI thing. So they've
- 29:29anyway, [snorts] >> but was it just a blocked block cuz
- 29:36remember when I checked last week, all I got was ads. So it's not >> right
- 29:40>> blocked blocked. It's just >> Oh, I don't get ads. My my I block ads
- 29:44at the house level in [laughter] this episode. So I I wouldn't get the ads.
- 29:50>> Yep. That's Yeah, that's all it was for me. >> That's okay. It's not, as I said, has
- 29:55not changed my life. But VPNs are making a lot of money. But there's I know that
- 30:00there's in America at the moment they're looking at um
- 30:04>> trying to bring in laws about VPNs that just will not work for
- 30:09>> that. VPNs have to keep track of >> everything and stuff like that. And it's
- 30:14sort of like >> you don't understand how a VPN works.
- 30:18They'd never be able to do that. It's at the ISP level. >> Yeah. And like Yeah.
- 30:24>> Yeah. I mean, I was going to say defeats the point of it, but that's not they're not
- 30:31that's not an argument for them. They want the point of it defeated. >> Yes. >> So,
- 30:36>> yeah. >> Yeah. Defeat the point of it for for a lot of people. [clears throat] >> Yeah.
- 30:42>> I use a VPN to get into my house. That's like I have a VPN to my I have a little
- 30:48box downstairs. >> Yep. >> My Raspberry Pi. I VPN into here so that
- 30:52when I'm elsewhere, I can access my stuff. But I don't um I don't VPN for
- 30:58any other purpose. >> No, I think a lot of people think VPNs
- 31:01do a lot more protection than they think.
- 31:04>> Yeah. Yeah. And also I think it like a gen a general internet connection is
- 31:11more secure than it used to be. Like it used a lot of times
- 31:15>> back many moons ago many moons ago [ __ ] am I [laughter] talking about? Uh it
- 31:22used to be that would they would say and this probably still is the case
- 31:27regardless even with a VPN if you're in Starbucks for example on the public
- 31:31Wi-Fi you are at some risk >> of things but I think I don't think a
- 31:36VPN a VPN might help but also just a secure website HTTPS secure connection
- 31:43to a website also counteracts a lot of that. The problem is that back in the olden days
- 31:49>> a lot of websites weren't secure. So, >> no.
- 31:52>> And um now like if you go into your bank website, there's no way you you couldn't
- 31:57go to http colon sl >> no. >> Well, I even remember just back in the
- 32:03day when I got my first uh smartphone and I just be out and about and go, "Oh,
- 32:07I want to use Wi-Fi." And everyone's Wi-Fi was unprotected. >> Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:13>> But no, it's changed a lot over the years. And yeah, the only real reason
- 32:17you need a VPN is if you want to change your location for whatever reason.
- 32:22>> Yeah. And other than that, I think the security
- 32:27benefits of it are a bit overstated cuz people want to get your [ __ ] I think
- 32:32they can get around that. >> Yeah. And I know a lot of the sites now
- 32:35they're selling it with like protection like we'll go out and we'll get your web
- 32:38your emails taken down from places and stuff like that. >> Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 32:42>> One thing that annoys me is they talk about we'll get it taken down from the
- 32:44dark web. H how the dark web is not going to go, "Oh, you sent me an email
- 32:50to take this down." >> Sorry, guys. >> Luke sent list his personal details anymore.
- 32:56>> Shut it down. >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> I find that I find that frustrating how they
- 33:03>> I get Do you get Is this Maybe this is just an American thing. I thought it was
- 33:06just me. It's not. Everybody here seems to be having this problem at the moment.
- 33:10Do you get scam phone calls in Australia? >> Yeah. Yeah. like multiple a day.
- 33:16>> Yep. [snorts] >> [ __ ] man. Like I get uh I've got the
- 33:21thing turned on my phone now where it screens phone calls. Excuse me. Because
- 33:25I was blocking them, but then if like my doctor calls or whatever,
- 33:30>> I need to I need to get that phone call. So, >> what I'm worried about because I am
- 33:34blocking them like phone numbers. When I find out they're a scam, I'll go, "Yep, that was
- 33:39a scam." Block it. But what if that phone number becomes a real phone number
- 33:42in the future? >> Yeah. Because they churn them. And so
- 33:44yeah, exactly. It's such a [ __ ] pain in the ass. I get so many calls every
- 33:48day, like like two, three at minimum every day of just scam [ __ ] phone
- 33:54calls and it's like and at first I thought, what what's happened if has my
- 33:59number leap? I discussed it now and everybody gets them. >> Yep.
- 34:03>> Apparently it's just become normal like >> Yep. And I answer them and I try and
- 34:08keep them on the phone as long as possible. >> I don't I Drives me nuts. I like I have
- 34:13the screening thing on. So my phone will say if if a number that isn't in my
- 34:19contacts calls me. >> Yep. >> My phone will without alerting me,
- 34:24answer it and say who are you and what do you want basically and then I'll see
- 34:28if Matt's available and um and then so I get a little message that pops up and
- 34:33says someone's calling you. Tap here and then I can see what they said. >> Yep.
- 34:38>> Just ignore it. >> Yep. Mine comes up with like suspected
- 34:43scam and I can answer it or block it. I can probably set that up, but I always
- 34:47get an answer and then I'll try and talk to him as long as possible and then I'll
- 34:52block it. >> I can't I can't be bothered with that.
- 34:56>> It's fun. Sometimes they get very angry. >> Yeah.
- 35:02Um, did we talk about the rehearsal already? >> Oh, we we talked about it, but you
- 35:07hadn't finished it at the time. >> I still haven't. I'm uh I'm nearly finished season two.
- 35:13>> Okay. >> Uh it's very good. >> I still want to hear what you think about the finale.
- 35:18>> Okay. All right. Oh, yeah. Cuz did we talk about we talk about the one where
- 35:22he's a baby? >> Do we talk about that? >> The what episode where he's a baby? >> No.
- 35:28God, I don't remember that one. >> You don't remember the episode where
- 35:32he's a baby? How could you forget that one? It's season two, right?
- 35:38Maybe I haven't seen season two. >> Oh, season one. I've seen the finale of
- 35:42season one was where the kid thinks he's his dad.
- 35:46>> Oh, no. That's the one I I didn't want to spoil that cuz I I don't know. Like I
- 35:51think that is that his child? >> No. >> No.
- 35:57>> Okay. Cuz I really felt that that was leading up for him. That was a whole
- 36:01thing leading up for him to rehearsing for him meeting his child. >> No. >> Okay. No,
- 36:07>> that's just what I thought. >> That's just some kid that uh they hired
- 36:11as an actor whose dad left and now he cuz they rehearsed and
- 36:18stuff. The kids's like, "That's my dad now." And then Yeah. Nathan's like, "Um,
- 36:24no." [laughter] Yeah. >> I maybe remembered that very wrong then.
- 36:30I haven't seen season two, so I need to see that. >> Oh, yeah. Season two is good. Yeah.
- 36:35It's like he's trying to improve airline safety and uh
- 36:41>> Oh god. >> No. No. It's that's such an interesting show cuz one of the
- 36:48things he talks about in the first episode is that like this is a serious
- 36:51thing and he actually wants to affect serious change to save lives, but he's a
- 36:58comedian and people don't take him seriously because why would they? And um
- 37:04and like there's a he does a funny bit where it's like his his example for this
- 37:09is like there's a car a clown that get it's this is a rehearsal one of his
- 37:14rehearsal things. A clown gets run over by a food truck and then and the clown
- 37:19is like help and everybody's just like [laughter] like laughing and and he's like this is
- 37:24what it's like be trying to affect change as a comedian.
- 37:29>> It's very funny. All right. I have to go see season two then. And season 3 looks
- 37:35like it's been >> Oh, yeah. Doesn't surprise me. He's so
- 37:39funny. I also went back. You seen Nathan for you, right? The show. >> Yes.
- 37:43>> Where he does Oh, yeah. Where he did like the [ __ ] um ice cream or yogurt.
- 37:49>> Yep. Yeah. Yeah. And dumb Starbucks. And then But my favorite one is the that
- 37:54[ __ ] private detective that he hires. Do you know who the guy I mean who's like
- 38:00>> it's it's been a long time. >> He's this private detective and he's
- 38:03from Boston and he's like he's like you're the wizard of loneliness. Look at
- 38:07you in your pink shirt. The guy [laughter] just picking on him and he um [sighs]
- 38:13Yeah, it's such a good episode. Watch Nathan for you. Watch it. >> Y
- 38:19>> I don't know how he doesn't break character. I
- 38:25think he's just a special kind of person. >> Like uh
- 38:31like I know people don't like Sasha Baron Cohen, but >> him as well.
- 38:37>> Like how Yeah, I know. But like I I understand that. But like the fact that
- 38:41he can do all that without laughing >> Yeah. >> is like
- 38:46>> incredible to me. >> Oh yeah. Evidently, season 3 of the
- 38:52rehearsal began filming in October last year. >> Oh, interesting. All right,
- 38:57>> that's according to Reddit. So, >> no,
- 39:01>> take it with a grain of salt. >> All right, I will take it with a grain
- 39:06of salt. Um, we've got some zombie movie news. I'm
- 39:12going to put these in a different order. Uh, >> yeah. So, I've not seen The Bone Temple
- 39:18yet. I know you have. Ah, >> you liked it, right? >> Oh, it was great.
- 39:22>> Yeah. And we were talking about how uh it didn't do well.
- 39:26>> Yeah. The second one didn't do well. >> Yeah. So, there was some question of
- 39:30whether there would be a third one. And
- 39:34there has been a well an Instagram post
- 39:38by the actor who plays the kid
- 39:43um posted an Instagram post of them shooting arrows at targets and saying
- 39:48it's great to be back and everyone's like oh >> implication being >> it's happening. So,
- 39:55>> I really hope it does cuz I think I honestly think I read an article and I
- 39:59do believe this part of the reason why the second one didn't do well is I think
- 40:02people cuz it was the Bone Temple as well. >> What it was.
- 40:07>> Yeah. That some people thought it might have just been a re-release or a like
- 40:11it's 28 years later like they like it's a re-release or a director's cut or
- 40:15something because it was so close together. >> Yeah. >> Only six months difference. So,
- 40:20>> yeah. Yeah. is the marketing failure. >> Yeah. >> Um,
- 40:26>> that means we might get Sillian Murphy back. >> Killian Murphy. >> Killian. >> Sillian.
- 40:33>> I'd [snorts] prefer Sillian. >> I'll let him know. >> Yeah.
- 40:37>> Um, yeah. So, that might be happening. That which would be good. I haven't
- 40:41watched the Bone Temple yet. I I should do that cuz I liked
- 40:45>> Yeah. It's It's weird because you watch >> was weird to say, but yes,
- 40:49>> you watch the first one and then the ending is super strange. >> Super strange.
- 40:54>> And then it goes back to >> the tone. It goes back to normal.
- 40:58>> Yeah. I don't know what they I don't know what they were doing there. That's weird.
- 41:01>> Yeah. >> Whatever. >> Like they're still wearing the colorful
- 41:05tracksuits, but they're not as bright anymore. >> That's so weird. Like the Why was Yeah.
- 41:11Anyway, whatever. I wonder if has he ever commented on what the [ __ ] was
- 41:16going on with the ending? Why ending 28
- 41:21years [clears throat] later like that? [laughter] The abrupt and bizarre ending of 28
- 41:27years later is a jarring tonal shift designed to satarize early 2000s British
- 41:31pop culture while serving as a deliberate pop-up for the next
- 41:34deliberate setup for the next film trilogy. Yeah, but >> okay.
- 41:39>> Yeah, I still don't get it.
- 41:43Yeah. Yeah. Odd. Um,
- 41:49>> but yeah, definitely watch it. >> Uh, are you you' be familiar with friend
- 41:54of the show, Uva Bowl? >> I am. >> Mhm. >> You've got his email address.
- 41:58>> I've got his email address. [laughter] I've emailed him a couple times. Uh,
- 42:03he's always been very nice. He's always been very nice. Um, he's back. He
- 42:07retired famously after having a massive
- 42:10[ __ ] rant on um on YouTube uh about how
- 42:16>> Hollywood everybody in Hollywood's [ __ ] each other in the ass and
- 42:19laughing at us as we watch their stupid [ __ ] Marvel movies. Um
- 42:24>> which is a shame cuz I actually watched his movies.
- 42:27>> Yeah. I mean they weren't they weren't good, >> but you know, a for effort. Um
- 42:33>> they were different. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he's a he's a funny
- 42:37guy, Hoover. Um, but he's back because
- 42:42apparently he found out um Paul WS Anderson, director of
- 42:48Resident Evil and uh >> Event Horizon and Soldier, he's done
- 42:54some good movies. He's done some shite. >> Yeah,
- 42:57>> he's doing a new adaptation of House of the Dead,
- 43:02which Uber Ball famously did. I've seen two versions of House of the Dead.
- 43:07>> Which one's your favorite? Is it Hoover's? >> Well, no. I've seen two versions of his.
- 43:12>> Oh, of course. House of the Dead funny version is >> genuinely good. >> Yes.
- 43:18>> Like this is I don't I I don't know how even how to explain Uber to people. So,
- 43:23there's a Yeah. So, he made this adaptation of House of the Dead. The
- 43:26Yes. The arcade machine with the gun. >> Yep. >> He made a zombie movie.
- 43:30>> It was not good. It was not wellreceived.
- 43:34So he then Tommy Wizo style seems to have pivoted and said it was meant to be
- 43:40funny >> and the studio wouldn't let me do it funny. So he released House of the Dead
- 43:46funny version which just has like bloopers in the movie
- 43:52>> cut in >> like so they'll lines or whatever and then it just does it a bunch of times
- 43:58while you're watching the movie. It's like >> really [ __ ] weird.
- 44:03weird scenes where they're sort of walking around with like blow up things and
- 44:08>> yeah, it's really weird. Uh >> yeah, >> like it is like it is funny.
- 44:14>> It's just weird. >> But you need to watch the original and
- 44:17then watch the funny version. >> And then if you put the director's
- 44:21commentary on, he just like [ __ ] takes phone calls and like and is just
- 44:26doing like it's it's so strange. Uh, I just Anyway, so he's he's gotten
- 44:32jealous, I guess, because he's found out Paul WS Anderson is doing
- 44:36>> a version of House of the Dead. >> So, he's come out now and he said he's
- 44:41going to make an unofficial sequel to his House of the Dead movie and it's called, ready,
- 44:48>> 23 years later, The Castle of the Dead. [laughter]
- 44:54[gasps] >> Has it been 23 years since House of the Dead? >> [laughter]
- 45:00>> Yes. >> Excellent. I'm in. Make it. I will.
- 45:05>> 2003 was House of the Dead. >> So, yeah. >> Watch it.
- 45:11>> I I really really hope he does do this. >> Yes.
- 45:16>> Just because I don't know.
- 45:21He's just such an interesting person. Like, let him do it. Come on.
- 45:27>> Yes. It'll be worth it. I'm sure it will because for all the like, you know,
- 45:33everybody his movies aren't good. Everybody hates them, but they love to
- 45:38hate them, you know? >> Like we all saw House of the Dead. >> Yes.
- 45:43>> And like, you know, Alone in the Dark was terrible, but we watched it.
- 45:47>> We watched it. >> Like, >> I don't know. do >> I mean the reason he got upset and quit
- 45:53was because no one would crowdfund >> his third [ __ ] Rampage movie.
- 45:59>> Yeah. Which >> which >> they're the ones I watch.
- 46:06>> You liked Rampage? >> I didn't watch Ramp I never thought.
- 46:09>> Right. That's what I'm saying. No one watched those ones. Right. Because they
- 46:11were Well, the problem with the Rampage ones is that they didn't have anything
- 46:13to do with the [ __ ] game. >> The game like >> that's what we were expecting. And then
- 46:18Yeah, exactly. So, yeah, I don't understand that. >> Yeah,
- 46:24>> if he had made an adaptation of Rampage like The Rock did. >> Yes,
- 46:28>> we would have watched that. >> We watched that. So, I think Yeah, he he
- 46:32caused his It was his own fault that his movies weren't being watched because
- 46:36>> those particular ones. >> Yeah, he went away what he was doing. Well, >> yeah. Right.
- 46:43Far Cry. That's right. He did Far Cry >> cuz what's the rampage like more guns
- 46:48and stuff and >> yeah it was about a guy like a uh
- 46:53actually it was almost like postal um
- 46:56yeah rampage president down was uh it's about yeah guy who went
- 47:03nutso or something right and was like went on a rampage which is not what
- 47:07>> the game is the game about monsters like >> yes >> anyway
- 47:11>> and you make movie edit adaptations of games. Stick with what you know.
- 47:18>> Anyway, the quote from the Hollywood Reporter article says, "Beping the plot
- 47:22of the new film under wraps, but he said 23 years later, we'll be set in a castle."
- 47:28Yeah. >> Oh, please. Please.
- 47:33>> Yeah, let him do it. >> I didn't know that he went in and just
- 47:37opened a restaurant after he retired. >> Oh, did he? I didn't know that either.
- 47:41Is it in Germany? Um, >> filmmaker turn restaurant.
- 47:47Yeah, I don't know. >> Ball restaurant.
- 47:51Baja restaurant. Upscale restaurant in where is this?
- 47:58Vancouver. >> I don't like this. Um, well, [snorts]
- 48:03the person who wrote this article. Okay. >> Bald, a filmmaker turner who recently
- 48:09unfortunately returned to film making. No, let him. Not unfortunately. >> Do it.
- 48:15>> Yeah. Think what you will about him. He's interesting. >> Yes.
- 48:20>> I gotta say, and remember, you know what? I got to watch
- 48:25he did that Ashvitz film. >> Oh, yes.
- 48:30I avoided it because because it's Uverball and it's Hashitz
- 48:36and it's like >> it's not his wheelhouse a topic like that >> but
- 48:43>> I don't think he Yeah, it's not something I think
- 48:46>> I I was it was even like for me who likes bad movies it was a little bit
- 48:50like I don't know if I'm mentally ready for that. Yeah, the tone of this might
- 48:56not quite be right cuz I know in Postal he talks about Nazi Gold and
- 49:02>> 2011 that movie came out. >> Oh, it's a docu drama.
- 49:08>> See, I've got to watch this. Okay, maybe it is more serious than
- 49:13>> I think it's c he certainly tried to be serious, but I remember at the time
- 49:18um it was panned because it was very graphic and um
- 49:25and he cast himself as a prison guard and stuff and everyone it bas from what
- 49:30I recall everyone was just like this is was this necessary to like to show all
- 49:34this like the way that you did cuz unlike I think um something like
- 49:39Shitless List which had a plot. I'm not sure this like well you know what his
- 49:46movies are like >> like it's just not um like what is the
- 49:51point of it you know um [laughter] Hoover once said he would
- 49:58stop making films if people if a million people signed a petition that said he
- 50:03should stop and it got more than 360,000 people but not a million.
- 50:07>> Not a billion. [laughter]
- 50:09Yeah. So we can keep on going. >> So hopefully
- 50:14>> So the killing scenes were restricted to 20 minutes. >> What?
- 50:20>> Yeah, that's what I mean. He's just he's he's not a topic that he should be >> no
- 50:27>> making a film about. Like he's just not equipped, I think, to to tackle such a
- 50:32serious topic. >> No. >> Seemingly love I love you, Uber. If
- 50:36you're watching this, which you might be, it's Not impossible that he's
- 50:39watching this. He is aware of us. >> I love you. But >> yes,
- 50:44>> don't try to make a serious movie like that. House of Dead 23 years later. [ __ ]
- 50:50yes. Make that movie. >> I will watch that. I will buy that day
- 50:53one cuz I don't know how it's going to be released. >> Yeah,
- 50:57>> cuz I don't know. I go to I would go to the movies and see it if I could.
- 51:02>> I would too. Yeah. This would be one of those special event things. Yeah.
- 51:08>> Speaking of which, uh I think we're going to go see Repo the Genetic Opera
- 51:11in uh in a theater. >> Oh, they're doing a re-release of that.
- 51:15>> Yeah. I think it must be an anniversary of it or something. >> Yep.
- 51:20>> That's a good movie. >> Yes, >> sort of. >> Yeah. It's been a long time since I've
- 51:25seen it, but I remember enjoying it. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's fun. Uh another
- 51:30movie that we don't really know what's happening with it is Avatar 4.
- 51:37So, we talking about how >> it looked like it wasn't going to get
- 51:41made and then it was looking like it was going to get made and James Cameron was
- 51:44saying, "Yeah, it's going to get made." And then now, uh,
- 51:48it's unclear at this point if it is. Um, so I guess not much of an update.
- 51:55>> No, but I'm telling you, like what if he does get the if he does get to make
- 52:00four, wrap it up. >> Yeah. No, >> wrap up the story. He's got that fifth
- 52:06one coming in the pipeline. >> But I still keep saying we could have he
- 52:11didn't need three.
- 52:14>> James Cameron has said uh this week the plans for the next two films are very
- 52:20much uncertain at this time. So So he's gone back on
- 52:26>> Yeah. Because his last update was Disney's All In. They were making them back to back.
- 52:31>> Yeah. So, was he doing to Ryan Johnson? >> They're still making a lot of money. The
- 52:37I mean the the others what 1.5 billion
- 52:41the last one made. I feel like >> that's a lot. >> That's Well, they're making like a
- 52:48billion. They're making a billion. >> So, why the [ __ ] wouldn't they make the
- 52:52another one? >> Like, I don't really understand.
- 52:59>> Um biggest challenge It's too cost too much money behind the
- 53:05scenes. >> It's a long investment upfront. >> He says it could take as long as a year
- 53:12or so to figure out how to make future films in the series in half the time for
- 53:152/3 of the cost. Okay. So, I guess maybe he's been told
- 53:20>> you need to reel it back cuz >> like even the third one, the the 3D
- 53:25which was the big thing of Avatar wasn't that good.
- 53:29>> Yeah. Actually, someone in the comments said the 2.9 billion that the first
- 53:33movie made in 2009 would actually be 4.5 billion today, which puts things in
- 53:39perspective compared to the 1.5 billion the last one made. So, we're talking
- 53:43about huge numbers, but when you look at inflation, like these are not making
- 53:49anywhere near the money that his first one did. >> The first one did. And it's getting
- 53:53smaller and smaller each time. And >> well people
- 53:57>> running. Yeah. There's a lot of money up front for you don't know if you're going
- 54:00to how much you're going to get back. >> Yeah. Like >> I mean that's movie
- 54:06>> the third one was not good. >> Yeah. I know you've mentioned that. You
- 54:10said you told me don't bother watching it. I think
- 54:12>> no I can there's one scene you need to see it and you you're all set up for the
- 54:16fourth movie. >> I don't know man. Sometimes you don't pay attention. So >> there is that.
- 54:22>> Yeah. I don't know. that that that could be the case, but
- 54:28>> I was awake for most of it. >> Okay. Well, that's a good sign.
- 54:34Uh, where do we want to go next? There's a bunch of little movie things here. Let's
- 54:41go to this one >> because it's of interest to me in particular.
- 54:46>> James Bond casting has begun. >> All right. So, you know, I've got two
- 54:52people I want to put forward. Two people. I know who one of them is. I think >> myself.
- 54:56>> Oh, okay. And Rahul. >> And Rahul. Rahul's more got more of a
- 55:01chance, I think. But I think he would make a great James Bond.
- 55:03>> I don't think either of you have much of a chance to be honest. No. Like, not
- 55:08because I wouldn't choose either of you. Obviously, I would. But, uh, I don't
- 55:13think I don't think they're going to go with you. No offense. Due to lack of experience.
- 55:18>> I got experience in acting. I not enough. [laughter]
- 55:24Oh, and again, it's not me. It's just what they're going to say. And I don't
- 55:28think they'll go with Rahul because that would be controversial. >> He's English.
- 55:34>> He is He's British. Uh but he's not a
- 55:38traditional James Bond character. >> He's not white.
- 55:45>> Correct. >> Yeah. And while I would I would love for
- 55:49them to shake it up, but I don't think they will. I think that's too big a
- 55:52risk. They would think that's too big a risk for this.
- 55:57>> Yeah. I And they want to keep fans happy
- 56:02and not have them complain cuz no matter what they do, people are going to
- 56:05complain though. >> Correct. And unfortunately, that would
- 56:09be something they would complain about a lot. But also, from what I've heard,
- 56:14aren't they meant to be going for a younger James Bond this time?
- 56:17>> Uh, I don't think they've been clear about that. I've heard I have heard
- 56:22that. I've seen articles that said that, but I don't know if that actually came
- 56:25from anybody at Amazon. So, it's Amazon doing it now. So, it used to be for many
- 56:29many many well for what 50 years of [ __ ] whatever. >> Yeah.
- 56:32>> It was owned by uh the Broccoli, >> which were relatives of um
- 56:39>> Ian Fleming, I believe, and they've just sold it all to Amazon now. they're not
- 56:42involved. And there was an article I read, >> uh, and you may have seen clips of this.
- 56:48>> Whenever they were auditioning a new Bond, they would have them do a specific
- 56:52scene with a character to see, um, because Bond has got to be able to do
- 56:58action, but also >> yes, >> romance and certain things. So, they
- 57:02like to test them out. And now it's like, well, what's Amazon gonna do
- 57:06>> to find the new Bond? this just going to be some famous person
- 57:11>> or will they actually like be thorough? I know. I feel like for this
- 57:18I don't know. They've got to they've got to do a good job. Like
- 57:22they've got to look really hard and do it properly. Otherwise, people are just
- 57:25going to get the shits. >> I I really hope they go back to a little bit of comedy though.
- 57:31I know they won't, but >> I maybe I mean Denise Villu is doing this.
- 57:37He's not known as a comedian. >> No. >> So I have a feeling in fact if you've
- 57:43seen what's that movie? >> Oh god. What's the one with Hugh
- 57:47Jackman? Do you know the one I mean where the two girls get kidnapped?
- 57:54>> Prison. Prisoners. >> I haven't seen that. >> There's nothing funny about it. Let's
- 57:59just say that. >> [laughter] >> It's [ __ ] intense. Uh, so, but it's
- 58:04very good. But it's it's very it's >> Yeah, it's about two two young girls get
- 58:08kidnapped and it's Jackman plays their dad and he goes off the [ __ ] rails
- 58:13trying to find these two girls to the point where Paul Dano plays uh
- 58:20handicapped person and Jackman's convinced he's guilty and just tortures
- 58:25him and it's [laughter] >> what you've got to it's it's a really
- 58:31intense movie. Okay, I might not watch that.
- 58:36>> It's good. It's got uh what's David domian in it. >> Well, maybe I will.
- 58:43>> He's good. Uh it's got Hugh Jackman. Jake Gyllenhaal plays a cop.
- 58:48Uh it's very good. Anyway, oh, and Sakario, that's another good Sakario is another
- 58:53good D. None of these movies are funny though. No, >> but I'm actually just looking at the
- 58:57casting director and >> I don't know if she's got a good history.
- 59:03>> Really? >> Well, she's got the the Star Wars sequel trilogy. >> Okay.
- 59:09>> The Jurassic World films. >> Okay. But it's casting, right?
- 59:13>> The Martian movies. Oh, no. Maybe she does. >> She didn't write the movies. >> Yeah.
- 59:19>> Or direct the movies. >> Hot fuzz. You like hot fuzz? The hot
- 59:25fuzz was great. No, I'm taking it back. >> So, she knows Timothy is the best James Bond.
- 59:31>> I'm taking it back. Taking it back. Sorry. >> Maybe she'll get Timothy Dalton back.
- 59:36>> Timothy Dalton back. [ __ ] yeah. He gets to do that third movie he never got to
- 59:40do. [laughter] >> And >> finally happening. >> So, I heard it here.
- 59:46>> I wish that had happened. I wish that had happened. Anyone who doesn't know
- 59:49Timothy Dalton, well, you probably know Timothy Daltton's James Bond in two movies,
- 59:55>> Living Daylights and License to Kill. He was supposed to do a third, but it got
- 1:00:01took too long, took so long for them to like decide what the [ __ ] movie was
- 1:00:07going to be. And there were legal disputes over um so,
- 1:00:13oh god. Uh there was a legal dispute based on Thunderball over whether who
- 1:00:17owned the rights to what and they you know like the James Bond movie stopped
- 1:00:20having Spectre in them for a long time because there was like this legal
- 1:00:23dispute or whatever and it all just tied everything up and it took so long that
- 1:00:26Timothy Dalton was like I'm going to go do something else. >> Yeah.
- 1:00:28>> And he never did a third Bond movie >> which is a shame.
- 1:00:32>> That was his chance. And hopefully there won't be any more legal disputes now.
- 1:00:35It's all just been Amazon. You have >> Exactly. And they Yeah. They could just
- 1:00:39use all the money they've got to make all that go away.
- 1:00:41>> Yes. [laughter] if it does happen, you know, which is good question mark. Um,
- 1:00:47but yeah, everyone's like, "Oh, Timothy Dalton could have done Golden Eye." Um,
- 1:00:52and it wouldn't have been that because >> no, >> it wouldn't have been that movie. But
- 1:00:56that is interesting to think about because I really do think Timothy Dalton
- 1:01:01is the best Bond. >> But I I couldn't see him in Golden Eye. That is
- 1:01:05>> No, no, no. That's what I mean. It would have been It would have been if if he
- 1:01:08had played Bond in that movie, it would have been different. And also
- 1:01:12>> they wouldn't have written that movie. >> No, because it would have been a
- 1:01:15different completely. >> Yeah. So, but that's what people say is that
- 1:01:21>> Timothy Dalton was supposed to be in Golden Eye, which No, but
- 1:01:25>> but look, they've started to search. We'll see what we get. We're still a few
- 1:01:29years away from it since they haven't even found out who's in the show in the
- 1:01:32movie yet. So, >> the script is uh done or in late stages.
- 1:01:38>> Yep. So, >> need to find a cast and >> Yeah. >> So, we're probably looking late 28,
- 1:01:45early 29, I'd say. >> Probably. Yeah, it's going to be a while. Well,
- 1:01:50yeah. No, I They happen faster than I would expect. I know that's cuz I'm
- 1:01:55getting old. Like, for example, like Dune Messiah is coming out.
- 1:02:01>> Time actually goes faster when you're older than when you're younger.
- 1:02:04>> I know that. I know that. What I mean, what I mean is I don't know if it's
- 1:02:08actually that that they're making movies faster than I expect or if I'm getting
- 1:02:13old. I guess >> I think they're making movies faster, but they're making games slower.
- 1:02:19>> Yeah, games take a long time now. >> Like Fallout 5. There's We're not going
- 1:02:26to have Fallout 5. >> Have they even announced Fallout 5 decade? >> You just made that up.
- 1:02:30>> There is no Fallout 5, is there? that they they they have said they will
- 1:02:35be making it but it's coming after old Elder Scrolls. So Fallout 5 is not
- 1:02:41coming until it's not coming this decade. >> They when did they announce Elder
- 1:02:46Scrolls 6? Elder Scrolls 6 announcement was 2018.
- 1:02:53>> Mhm. It's >> almost 10 years ago >> and we have no game.
- 1:02:58>> I mean I'm old now so it will be 10 years very soon. >> Yes.
- 1:03:03cuz time's just flying by. >> So that I think we'll get this decade,
- 1:03:08but that's it. Like Fallout 5 is going to be in 2030s.
- 1:03:14It's going to be in the 30s sometime. >> The Elder Scrolls 6. Okay. And this is
- 1:03:19from one year ago. >> The Elder Scrolls 6 announcement is now
- 1:03:23as old as Skyrim was when The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced. [laughter]
- 1:03:29It's funny. God. >> But yeah, know games are those types of
- 1:03:34games just taking longer and longer and >> Yeah, of course. Yeah, because Yeah,
- 1:03:38people expect more and more >> and have you heard the story about cuz
- 1:03:42Obsidian they famously want made New Vegas and they wanted to be a hey like
- 1:03:46we'll make the off >> Yeah. >> thing I've read a story that they were
- 1:03:51basically pulled into a room after it was released and basically Messa sat
- 1:03:55there and told them everything they did wrong. >> Really?
- 1:03:58>> Yep. Well, it's egg on their face, I would think, but probably not
- 1:04:03>> cuz that game's [ __ ] awesome. >> It's great. I think it it didn't start
- 1:04:07off I think people were a bit criticized a bit at the beginning, but I I think
- 1:04:10it's grown to be everyone's favorite. >> Yeah, I think the things I don't like
- 1:04:14about New Vegas are small. Like the different types of ammo. I felt like
- 1:04:18that over complicated things, but I can see why you would maybe like that. Just
- 1:04:23it's not for me. I don't >> want to manage things that much in games generally. Yep.
- 1:04:28>> Um, oh yeah, and wasn't there like there's wear and tear on weapons in a
- 1:04:35way that there wasn't in earlier ones, right? Or am I making that up?
- 1:04:38>> Maybe there is. There was wear and tear. >> Yeah, I can't remember those kind of
- 1:04:44things. I mean, I know you hate that specifically in Breath of the Wild. the
- 1:04:49>> Well, I hate it in Breath of the Wild because the weapons break so quickly,
- 1:04:52but in the break as quickly, you Yeah, >> you didn't have to have backup weapons
- 1:04:59for every fight. >> But as far as like plot and like the
- 1:05:03game structure and everything, Fallout New Vegas is incredible. >> Yep.
- 1:05:07>> Like no notes, just great. >> Yep.
- 1:05:11>> Anyway, speaking of um incredible, you know what else is incredible? I am gonna
- 1:05:18say the multiple nergasm afterparty. >> We're going to keep talking and uh and
- 1:05:23if you want to hear us keep talking, you got to go to patreon.com/multiple
- 1:05:26nerdgasm. For as little as $1 a month, you can support the show financially and
- 1:05:29we would really appreciate that. >> And for $5 a month, you get the
- 1:05:32afterparty, which is, as I said, we're going to keep talking. Um we've got a
- 1:05:36couple things to talk about in here. Uh we don't have any candidates for geek of
- 1:05:40the week. I don't need anybody. As far as I'm aware, no one has died. Uh or
- 1:05:47I forgot to put them in. Oh, you know what? Someone did die. Hang on. Hang on. Hang on.
- 1:05:50>> Oh, >> I just remembered. >> There might be a geek of a week in the after party.
- 1:05:54>> Yeah. >> Pay to $5 and find out. >> Not Not that guy. Not that guy. Here we
- 1:06:01go. Yes. All right. >> I'm not even looking to see who it is.
- 1:06:06I'll find out later.
- 1:06:11Okay, >> it's in there. >> There's a bug in my uh in my app.
- 1:06:18>> Oh, >> that's fine. We'll worry about that later. Uh but yes, I put a candidate for
- 1:06:22geek of the week in and uh and then uh my app is going to be geek of the week,
- 1:06:27too, because I found a bug. It's dead. >> You don't have to kill it. Oh, you can
- 1:06:31kill the bug. >> I've had enough. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. The
- 1:06:33bug. Yeah, the bug's going to be geek of the week. Yep.
- 1:06:36>> All right. So, join us in the afterbody. We'll see you there.
- 1:06:39>> Bye everyone. Love you. >> That's all for this week. Thank you for
- 1:06:44listening and we hope you enjoyed the show. If you enjoyed it, then please
