- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Cam' say Hester and Hester got it file pat.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each other.
- 0:10Speaker 3: On the air, we there's control.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Kine studio.
- 0:18Speaker 4: It's off the Bench, all right, Welcome back in our
- 0:42Speaker 4: number three of OTB NFL training camp for a fort
- 0:48Speaker 4: day for most teams across the NFL, including the New
- 0:52Speaker 4: Orleans Saints, and so of course we got to catch
- 0:54Speaker 4: up with our guy Nick Underhill, New Orleans dot Football,
- 0:57Speaker 4: who joins us now just like he does every single Tuesday.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Nicholas, is this Christmas morning for you, sir?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm let me zoom in here. I'm trying
- 1:09Speaker 2: to look a little closer here. It's football, so I
- 1:12Speaker 2: don't know either one of you guys look like you're
- 1:13Speaker 2: in the best shape of.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Your lives though where you're supposed to be. This is
- 1:19Speaker 3: the time of here you got to you gotta have
- 1:20Speaker 3: ten pounds of muscle. I don't know. If I'm seeing
- 1:22Speaker 3: twenty pounds of muscle on that set, I.
- 1:24Speaker 6: Would crush conditioning test right now. I would crush it.
- 1:29Speaker 7: It would crush me.
- 1:30Speaker 5: I'm not even gonna lie to you and sit here
- 1:31Speaker 5: and you know lot to you, Nick, you know it
- 1:34Speaker 5: is what it is.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm ready, though, man, I'm ready reporting day today, uh,
- 1:39Speaker 2: conditioning test today, practice tomorrow, and off this thing finally, finally,
- 1:44Speaker 2: finally goes.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Nick. I've really been enjoying your tweets recently about you know,
- 1:48Speaker 6: just keeping real expectations for people, Like, hey, look, there's
- 1:53Speaker 6: gonna be a lot of nonsense that you're gonna hear
- 1:55Speaker 6: in the first like week or so, so just like
- 1:58Speaker 6: temper your expectations.
- 2:00Speaker 3: A little bit. Yeah, always a little bit.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I mean, everything's dumb that everybody's in the best shape
- 2:06Speaker 2: of their life. You know, it's not football, But I
- 2:09Speaker 2: feel like the Zion Williamson thing every offseason is like
- 2:12Speaker 2: the perfect example of like, oh my god, look at
- 2:15Speaker 2: him and then like he comes in, it's not drastically changed. Yeah,
- 2:20Speaker 2: like we're gonna see where some of this stuff goes.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I think that, you know, I think the Saints are
- 2:25Speaker 2: in an interesting place though, because there are growing expectations
- 2:29Speaker 2: and it feels like over the last two weeks there's
- 2:31Speaker 2: just been like a lot of people nationally that feel
- 2:34Speaker 2: like they just kind of like discovered this team might
- 2:36Speaker 2: be okay in some places.
- 2:38Speaker 3: So you know, you see Peter.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Schrager coming out picking them as a team, and I
- 2:43Speaker 2: think those expectations are starting to go up a little bit.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But yeah, it's fascinating to me.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I feel like this is a massive season for Kellen
- 2:49Speaker 2: Moore too, and that's probably something we haven't talked about
- 2:51Speaker 2: enough this offseason. It's it's a crossroads for his career,
- 2:56Speaker 2: like they got to meet expectations or like very quickly
- 2:59Speaker 2: all the positivity ships the other way.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I feel good about where they're at.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I'm expecting a competitive season, but yeah, it's gonna be.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Uh. It's a fascinating place for the Saints right now.
- 3:10Speaker 5: It is one of those deals and you're exactly right,
- 3:12Speaker 5: you know, you start to get closer and closer, and
- 3:14Speaker 5: teams kind of fall in front of people that maybe
- 3:17Speaker 5: they haven't seen them enough and like, you know what, Oh,
- 3:20Speaker 5: they're better receiver, they're better tight end and back and
- 3:23Speaker 5: quarterback and offensive line. Hell, maybe they might be good.
- 3:26Speaker 5: And it's like, hey, you can't do that. Now, you're
- 3:28Speaker 5: too late to the party. We've already been here, we've
- 3:30Speaker 5: already been talking about it.
- 3:31Speaker 7: Get out of here. You're not allowing the club.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they're the team this year, and I
- 3:38Speaker 2: think there's good reason for it. I mean, their offense
- 3:40Speaker 2: should be significantly better, like massive investments there, and like
- 3:45Speaker 2: it's it's three things. I think if you assume Shuck's
- 3:47Speaker 2: going to get better and this is both of them,
- 3:50Speaker 2: him and Callum more first drives, they averaged one point
- 3:53Speaker 2: one to one points per first drive per game with
- 3:56Speaker 2: with Shucks starting, that's got to change Reds.
- 4:00Speaker 3: They got to be way better down there.
- 4:01Speaker 2: And if you assume that Tyler Shuck is not going
- 4:04Speaker 2: to take thirty one sacks every nine games, I think
- 4:08Speaker 2: you can see a path where they get exceptionally better
- 4:11Speaker 2: just off off of Shuck and Kella Moore just tightening
- 4:13Speaker 2: up a little bit, but offensively a ton of really
- 4:15Speaker 2: good weapons. It's just a depth man Like the line.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I think right now, I think I've seen fandle hat
- 4:22Speaker 2: them at like seven point five. I think that's the
- 4:24Speaker 2: win total. I would probably lean over on it, but
- 4:27Speaker 2: I mean that's kind of assuming decent health and they're
- 4:31Speaker 2: you know, the defense is still really thin. A couple
- 4:33Speaker 2: injuries away from disaster over there, you know, offensively. I
- 4:37Speaker 2: feel like they're built to handle some of it. I
- 4:39Speaker 2: really feel like twenty sevens their year. But the way
- 4:42Speaker 2: the schedule is, the way the league is, they get
- 4:44Speaker 2: a little bit of luck with health. You know, you
- 4:46Speaker 2: could see them being this team that everybody's kind of
- 4:49Speaker 2: picking them to.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Be nick How if you look at the NFC South,
- 4:53Speaker 6: which I mean, I guess the answer is going to
- 4:55Speaker 6: be Tampa. But like, how much better do you think
- 4:58Speaker 6: Tampa fans feel about their team then Saints fans should
- 5:02Speaker 6: about their team.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I feel like they're all in the same bucket, And
- 5:06Speaker 2: if I was a Tampa fan, I might feel pessimistic,
- 5:09Speaker 2: like Mike Evans just left, like Canalis is long gone.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Liam Cohen's long gone.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Last year you've seen him with like not a whiz
- 5:15Speaker 2: kid offensive coordinator, and they kind of came back to
- 5:17Speaker 2: earth after you know, the early start where that team
- 5:21Speaker 2: just felt so lifeless at the end of the season.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You know, I still think if I was putting real
- 5:27Speaker 2: money on it, they'd probably be my pick to bounce
- 5:30Speaker 2: to be to be the team because I feel like
- 5:31Speaker 2: the Saints are like right behind them.
- 5:33Speaker 3: The Falcons could go either way.
- 5:35Speaker 2: The Falcons could be incredible or complete disaster, Like their
- 5:38Speaker 2: weapons are amazing. And then the problem is is it's
- 5:42Speaker 2: Penis and Tua at quarterback.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I have no idea which way that's going to go.
- 5:46Speaker 2: The Panthers could win sixteen games this year and I'd
- 5:49Speaker 2: be looking at them a year from now as if,
- 5:51Speaker 2: like I don't know, man, Like there's just something about them.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Like I have trouble.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I have trouble believing in that team just based on everything,
- 6:00Speaker 2: but like there were positive signs there for them too.
- 6:02Speaker 2: So I think everyone in this division probably feels pretty
- 6:05Speaker 2: equally about their team. I think there's a couple if
- 6:08Speaker 2: if some maybes and you look at everybody else and
- 6:11Speaker 2: you assume there is some.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Maybes aren't gonna work.
- 6:13Speaker 2: So I kind of feel like everyone's in the same
- 6:15Speaker 2: place right now, but just based on credentials, I think
- 6:19Speaker 2: you got to just nudge Tampa like a slight spot
- 6:22Speaker 2: ahead going into the season. But I could see like
- 6:25Speaker 2: them just just being at the bottom too, like, and
- 6:27Speaker 2: I feel like that's true for any one of these teams.
- 6:30Speaker 5: So we were talking about a little bit earlier, and
- 6:31Speaker 5: that's kind of where we feel too, is you know,
- 6:33Speaker 5: Tampa right now might maybe they get the top spot
- 6:36Speaker 5: to begin the season just because where they're at, the
- 6:37Speaker 5: veterans they have. But we were talking a lot of
- 6:40Speaker 5: good things about the Saints and certainly offensively, like you
- 6:43Speaker 5: feel so much better about a couple of different position groups,
- 6:46Speaker 5: certainly receiver. But then we went to the defense and
- 6:49Speaker 5: all right, well the defense was good last year, but
- 6:52Speaker 5: you know what did you lose? What's gonna look different?
- 6:54Speaker 5: And like Kate Nellison to Mario Davis are not the
- 6:56Speaker 5: same player, They're just not like it's not one for one,
- 6:58Speaker 5: And so we talked about that little bit and then
- 7:00Speaker 5: we found ourselves to the defensive backfield. That's probably the
- 7:04Speaker 5: one spot that we still have questions about that you're
- 7:06Speaker 5: a little nervous about.
- 7:07Speaker 7: What about you?
- 7:08Speaker 5: I know you've talked a lot about the potential there
- 7:11Speaker 5: and the younger guys that they have. Do you expect
- 7:13Speaker 5: them to take that next step and be something you
- 7:16Speaker 5: can count on and that a liability?
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah, they're the jengle block of the whole team and
- 7:21Speaker 2: you're going to you got to pull it out, and
- 7:23Speaker 2: it's how they're going to collapse or it's going to stand.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I think based on whatever they do and kool Aid
- 7:28Speaker 2: is someone that I think has to take that next
- 7:30Speaker 2: step and just kind of really solidify himself. I think
- 7:33Speaker 2: we saw really good signs in the back half of
- 7:34Speaker 2: last season, but that's got to continue. Quincy Riley's a
- 7:38Speaker 2: huge question mark. Jona Sanker, we have no idea what
- 7:40Speaker 2: he's going to be in the slot, you know. I
- 7:42Speaker 2: think Reed's Reid black Men could play two games, or
- 7:46Speaker 2: twelve games, or seventeen games, and I think going into it,
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think one of the reasons that we all kind
- 7:50Speaker 2: of feel a little bit iffy about them is that
- 7:53Speaker 2: there is no there's nothing to hang expectations on Julian
- 7:58Speaker 2: Blackman one way or the like.
- 7:59Speaker 7: There's only the.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Expectation that he's not going to play really based on
- 8:02Speaker 2: his career. But last year at camp, like I don't know,
- 8:06Speaker 2: pick a day, whatever the checkpoint is, Like, there would
- 8:08Speaker 2: have been a point last year where if we came
- 8:11Speaker 2: on here and did like, who are the MVPs of
- 8:12Speaker 2: camp right now, he would have been on the list
- 8:14Speaker 2: of candidates.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Like at a certain point.
- 8:16Speaker 2: He was making interceptions, making a lot of plays and
- 8:18Speaker 2: then he gets hurt and he's gone. If you tell
- 8:21Speaker 2: me he plays fifteen games. I'm probably nudging my win
- 8:24Speaker 2: total up a game on the Saints. I think he's
- 8:28Speaker 2: going to make plays that can chances to win, but
- 8:30Speaker 2: just a total question mark there. You know, the one
- 8:33Speaker 2: guy we don't talk about at all is Martin Emerson,
- 8:36Speaker 2: and you know he's coming off the injuries and everything.
- 8:39Speaker 2: There was a point in time where he looked like
- 8:41Speaker 2: a young rising player. Obviously has to get back on track.
- 8:45Speaker 2: If he becomes a guy like that, I think that
- 8:47Speaker 2: changes the math of the whole group too. You look
- 8:50Speaker 2: at him, you know, he's long, He's kind of built
- 8:52Speaker 2: like Ray John Rondo, like a guy that looks like
- 8:54Speaker 2: he could like pull up his socks without bending over.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Like the arms are just like really really long. Looks
- 8:59Speaker 2: like a owner out there. Just got to see him play.
- 9:01Speaker 2: A lot of question marks there though, And you know,
- 9:04Speaker 2: if I was predicting it right now, I think next
- 9:06Speaker 2: March we'll probably we'll probably be talking about corners.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Is a need for this team?
- 9:11Speaker 2: I mean that's just kind of you know, I kind
- 9:12Speaker 2: of got to be proved wrong on this one. I
- 9:14Speaker 2: think there's a lot of potential, but there's a lot
- 9:16Speaker 2: of question marks too.
- 9:17Speaker 5: What about real quick Lorenzo styles like that's somebody that
- 9:21Speaker 5: you know, he played receiver in Notre Dame. He goes
- 9:23Speaker 5: to a howse state switches to dB we know the
- 9:25Speaker 5: DNA of the family and father and brother and all
- 9:28Speaker 5: of that.
- 9:28Speaker 7: He blew the combine away.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Realistically, though, like where does he fit in and what
- 9:33Speaker 5: is his role maybe going to be in his first season?
- 9:36Speaker 6: J T.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Gray, you know, I think he's going to be Like
- 9:40Speaker 2: I think they're coinding on him to be an elite gunner.
- 9:42Speaker 2: And you look at their special teams, like the the
- 9:45Speaker 2: EPA on their special teams was like historically.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Bad last year.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So uh, you know they had Ryan right, they got
- 9:52Speaker 2: you know, the the real kicker battle.
- 9:54Speaker 3: They brought him in.
- 9:56Speaker 2: You know, I think that there's been a couple signings
- 9:57Speaker 2: like with special teams and mine Berry and Brown there.
- 10:00Speaker 2: But yeah, I think his his big thing is going
- 10:02Speaker 2: to be, you know, punt coverage is going to be
- 10:04Speaker 2: the main thing for him right off the bat, and
- 10:06Speaker 2: then coach him up and teach him. But the athletic
- 10:08Speaker 2: profile obviously extremely intriguing in the Staley's you know, a
- 10:13Speaker 2: creative guy, but he's he's he's a chess piece guy.
- 10:15Speaker 2: He likes positionless players and you know, all the current buzzwords,
- 10:19Speaker 2: but I think he actually puts it to use out there,
- 10:21Speaker 2: and I think that's a guy that you know, in
- 10:23Speaker 2: time you can develop them and probably get some good
- 10:25Speaker 2: contribution on defense. But I think right away that's a
- 10:28Speaker 2: that's a Phil Galliano player. And you know, maybe maybe
- 10:31Speaker 2: more so than anything like special teams has to turn
- 10:34Speaker 2: that corner that that was a major anchor on the
- 10:37Speaker 2: team last year, and I think I think it's got
- 10:39Speaker 2: to change drastically, and I mean it should.
- 10:41Speaker 3: They made the investment, but that is a good way better.
- 10:44Speaker 6: Yeah, Nick, for probably going on around six months of
- 10:49Speaker 6: contract negotiations and still not having a content and agreed
- 10:53Speaker 6: upon contract to place with your number one wide receiver,
- 10:56Speaker 6: I feel like this whole situation has been the most
- 10:58Speaker 6: calm and unpanick and like WU saw a thing in
- 11:01Speaker 6: the world, Like we know it's gonna get done, But
- 11:03Speaker 6: are you surprised that it's not done? Now that they
- 11:06Speaker 6: have officially reported a training camp.
- 11:09Speaker 3: I was starting to get nervous on it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think it's I think it's getting
- 11:13Speaker 2: down the crunch time, like this is when you'd want
- 11:15Speaker 2: it to be done. I heard that that they negotiated
- 11:18Speaker 2: with Rosenhaws recently. I don't think it got any closer,
- 11:23Speaker 2: So you're at that standoff point though.
- 11:26Speaker 3: I think this is a time where things get itchy.
- 11:29Speaker 2: You know, as of five days ago, my understanding was
- 11:32Speaker 2: that it wouldn't affect the early portion of training camp.
- 11:35Speaker 2: You know, there's that point where pads come out and
- 11:38Speaker 2: if things aren't done, like, you gotta wonder where we
- 11:41Speaker 2: go from there. I do think I do think there's
- 11:45Speaker 2: a difference in the way Chris Olave approaches things from
- 11:49Speaker 2: you know, a lot of times, oh, guys have had
- 11:50Speaker 2: to hold out to get contracts out out of this
- 11:53Speaker 2: front office, like Mike Thomas had the holdout, Alvin Kamara
- 11:55Speaker 2: had the holdout, Marshaun Lottimore had the hold out.
- 11:58Speaker 3: You know, you go down the list.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Recent history has just been guys have had the fight
- 12:02Speaker 2: to get their money. So I don't know if it
- 12:05Speaker 2: gets to the point where they got to do it.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It's interesting to me because you look at the situation
- 12:10Speaker 2: and the big beef with their star player. One of
- 12:13Speaker 2: their star players this offseason was Alvin like how he
- 12:16Speaker 2: doesn't like to come to OTAs and they put de
- 12:19Speaker 2: escalators in his contract for him not showing up.
- 12:22Speaker 3: You got a young.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Team set in the culture. Chris is there for like
- 12:25Speaker 2: every single workout the whole entire offseason. He's there lifting,
- 12:28Speaker 2: he's there for every ota and as you got a
- 12:30Speaker 2: young team setting a new culture. If that was a
- 12:33Speaker 2: pain point, I don't know, Like maybe reward the guy
- 12:35Speaker 2: that's set in the culture. The AP wide to me
- 12:39Speaker 2: seems like it takes care of itself. Like you got
- 12:41Speaker 2: Garrett Wilson signed about a year ago to the date
- 12:44Speaker 2: for thirty two point five, basically the same player, basically
- 12:48Speaker 2: the same draft pick, the same college. I think it's
- 12:51Speaker 2: thirty two point five. Alec Pierce got twenty eight point
- 12:54Speaker 2: five this offseason, Drake London got close to thirty six.
- 12:57Speaker 2: You know, I think that thirty two point five is
- 12:59Speaker 2: kind of where it all. Za Flowers is about to
- 13:01Speaker 2: sign a new contract, so you're gonna wait, and now
- 13:04Speaker 2: the market is going to go up again. You know,
- 13:07Speaker 2: the AP wide of me seems easy. I don't think
- 13:10Speaker 2: that should be a pain point. I think the guarantee
- 13:11Speaker 2: should be the thing that that's kind of the battle.
- 13:14Speaker 2: You know, obviously there's the the concussion history and the
- 13:17Speaker 2: blood clots, and I think you got to take all
- 13:19Speaker 2: that into account, but I don't know, like it's just
- 13:21Speaker 2: kind of weird to me that that this one feels
- 13:24Speaker 2: like one where you aren't paying anyone, you don't have
- 13:26Speaker 2: anyone on the horizon.
- 13:27Speaker 3: You're trying to set a new culture. Man.
- 13:30Speaker 2: The last time they drafted a wide receiver, Brendan Cooks
- 13:32Speaker 2: demanded the trade, And this time they draft a wide
- 13:35Speaker 2: receiver in the first round and they're holding a like
- 13:38Speaker 2: community event together in a few weeks, and you know,
- 13:41Speaker 2: it just seems like that can be the culture of
- 13:44Speaker 2: your team together in this like working hard, being there
- 13:47Speaker 2: and I think if you just kind of reward a
- 13:49Speaker 2: guy for doing that, that that can pay dividends down
- 13:51Speaker 2: the line. You know, you guys would know better than me,
- 13:53Speaker 2: but it just seems like to me like that that
- 13:56Speaker 2: should be the thing that you're kind of trying to
- 13:58Speaker 2: hold up as an example. And yeah, I think the
- 14:00Speaker 2: guarantees could be messy, but you know, I think I
- 14:03Speaker 2: think there's there's some discussions over the ap y and
- 14:06Speaker 2: that's that's surprising to me, Like I feel like it
- 14:08Speaker 2: should be set.
- 14:10Speaker 5: Where if they do sign and where would that money
- 14:13Speaker 5: come from? Right now, you're six point three million dollars
- 14:17Speaker 5: under the cap. And typically in a situation like this,
- 14:20Speaker 5: you go to the bank of the quarterback to borrow
- 14:22Speaker 5: money to make an extension like this, But with a
- 14:25Speaker 5: rookie quarterback on a rookie salary, like, you don't really
- 14:27Speaker 5: have that option. So where would the Saints, in your opinion, like,
- 14:31Speaker 5: get that money for an A lave extension? Uh?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Shoot, I don't have a right in front of me,
- 14:36Speaker 2: but I think he counts like six something on the
- 14:38Speaker 2: books this year. I mean, like they could theoretically extend
- 14:41Speaker 2: him and his number could come down. Like just spending
- 14:43Speaker 2: on the structure of the contract, you know, you probably
- 14:45Speaker 2: knocked that based down to nothing. You know, you could
- 14:50Speaker 2: you could maybe set up the signing bonus to where
- 14:54Speaker 2: like most of it is an option bonus and it
- 14:56Speaker 2: kicks in year two and there's just an automatic trigger
- 14:58Speaker 2: date third day of the league year at twenty seven
- 15:00Speaker 2: this you know, this converts or whatever and you get
- 15:02Speaker 2: your payout then. So I mean there's a lot of
- 15:05Speaker 2: ways that they could set that up and really lower
- 15:07Speaker 2: that number or keep it the same. You know that
- 15:10Speaker 2: that's if you gave Kai Harley two million bucks, he
- 15:13Speaker 2: could sign a forty million dollar player. Like they're just
- 15:15Speaker 2: they just been doing it for forever, so there's always ways.
- 15:19Speaker 3: To hide the money.
- 15:20Speaker 2: So you just kind of stash it in twenty seven
- 15:22Speaker 2: and probably have like a trigger on some amount of money,
- 15:25Speaker 2: you know, Big Bay salary that automatically converts on the
- 15:27Speaker 2: third day and you know that turns into your signing
- 15:29Speaker 2: bonus and that pays out that way. So or you
- 15:33Speaker 2: just attach it to the end of this year and
- 15:35Speaker 2: it starts in twenty seven and then you kind of
- 15:37Speaker 2: play out this year like where it's at. So there's
- 15:39Speaker 2: a lot of ways they could do it and get
- 15:41Speaker 2: that done. So yeah, Like I actually think you could
- 15:44Speaker 2: extend them and lower the number the more I think
- 15:46Speaker 2: about it, Like I think his they could create cap space.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Probably about doing that, right, Nay?
- 15:49Speaker 6: Do you think they're trying to They're comparing themselves to
- 15:53Speaker 6: Drake London more than Garrett Wilson, and that's the that's
- 15:56Speaker 6: where the discrepancy is.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I think Garrett Wilson was probably.
- 16:02Speaker 6: Sophistically it'd be fair, it would be a fair ask.
- 16:05Speaker 2: It would I mean, like he his seventeen game averages
- 16:09Speaker 2: are better. I mean, I would probably make the argument
- 16:11Speaker 2: that that I'd probably be willing to, you know, go
- 16:13Speaker 2: a little higher on Drake just body type and style
- 16:15Speaker 2: of play and all that stuff. I think I think
- 16:17Speaker 2: Garrett's really the thing. I think Garrett's really the guy.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Like they have the same agent too, Rosenhawis represents both
- 16:22Speaker 2: of them. So if you got a guy with basically
- 16:25Speaker 2: this the same body type, the same numbers, the same profile,
- 16:28Speaker 2: all this stuff. And by the way, like Garrettilson dismissed
- 16:31Speaker 2: a bunch of games too, so like that's even a
- 16:33Speaker 2: hard argument to use against it. I know, the risk
- 16:35Speaker 2: going into it is different, Like Garrett was healthy at
- 16:37Speaker 2: the time, Chris is you.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Know, just had a healthy season though.
- 16:41Speaker 2: But yeah, I think that that's the point of contention,
- 16:43Speaker 2: probably is the Garrett Wilson thing, Like if' Drew Rosenhouse, Like,
- 16:47Speaker 2: why would you let your client who's basically the same
- 16:49Speaker 2: client take a deal lower? I wouldn't, Like it's thirty.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It seems to me it's thirty two point six, Like
- 16:56Speaker 2: that's the number to me. I think that's where you
- 16:57Speaker 2: got to be on it. Yeah, I think fighting for
- 17:00Speaker 2: Drake would be something I would try to do if I.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Was representing him.
- 17:03Speaker 2: But I you know, if I'm falling in between the two,
- 17:06Speaker 2: I'm comfortable with that.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You know.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I think there's just some level of risk there too
- 17:12Speaker 2: that that's going to show up in it. But yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 2: I think I think you got to be ahead.
- 17:16Speaker 6: Of that number.
- 17:19Speaker 7: All right, Last one before we let you go.
- 17:21Speaker 5: The person player that you're looking for to the most
- 17:26Speaker 5: to watch during this training camp. It can be somebody
- 17:28Speaker 5: we know, somebody that we don't know. There's always somebody
- 17:31Speaker 5: in camp. And you can't say Mason Tipton, I've got
- 17:34Speaker 5: Keybob's not here.
- 17:35Speaker 7: So we're not doing that. We're not playing that game.
- 17:38Speaker 7: But the person you're.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Looking forward to the most thing out there in training camp, well,
- 17:44Speaker 5: I mean there's.
- 17:45Speaker 2: There's the like the actual answers, and then there's like
- 17:50Speaker 2: the deep cut answer, like the actual answer is like
- 17:52Speaker 2: obviously I want.
- 17:53Speaker 3: To see shut continue.
- 17:54Speaker 2: But I mean Jordan Tyson's obviously the headlinery camp right now,
- 17:57Speaker 2: going in and there seeing what he can do. If
- 18:00Speaker 2: he's doing anything early on that that's going to be
- 18:03Speaker 2: a big thing today, like to watch for. We're talking
- 18:05Speaker 2: to Loomis and uh, more at I think two thirty,
- 18:08Speaker 2: so we should have some insight onto like did he
- 18:10Speaker 2: passes physical like that? That's that's a big thing going
- 18:14Speaker 2: early on. So I think those guys are at the
- 18:16Speaker 2: top of the list. I'm really excited to see Oscar
- 18:18Speaker 2: delp though. I think that's the guy that, like, I
- 18:20Speaker 2: really want to I really want to see what the
- 18:22Speaker 2: vision is, like, how much is he involved in the
- 18:24Speaker 2: past game, you.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Know all that stuff.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I think he's a highly intriguing player. I don't know
- 18:30Speaker 2: if it totally manifests in twenty six, but you know,
- 18:33Speaker 2: you kind of watch him and you you think a
- 18:35Speaker 2: couple of years out, a couple of years of development,
- 18:37Speaker 2: like he feels like a guy that could be like
- 18:39Speaker 2: a real part of everything. So yeah, that's kind of
- 18:43Speaker 2: the guy that's on the top of my list.
- 18:44Speaker 3: And then Jona Stanker's the other one.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Like I just think he's incredibly important in that role
- 18:48Speaker 2: seeing what he can do.
- 18:49Speaker 5: All right, there he is Nick Underhill, New Orleans Stuff Football.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Good enough to join us every single Tuesday, Hero on
- 18:54Speaker 5: no TV. Nick, We appreciate the time as always and

- 19:10Speaker 7: it again next week.

- 19:14Speaker 5: Our guy Nick Underhill always enjoy our conversations. Christmas morning
- 19:19Speaker 5: for that guy though, Oh yeah, for sure, he's fired up.

- 20:13Speaker 1: Matt Flinn present it by Community Steel.
- 20:32Speaker 7: Shime.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Love e Space with minding Ma Summon, Join.
- 20:49Speaker 3: City business.
- 20:56Speaker 7: All right, welcome back in OTB. Why we r I
- 21:01Speaker 7: P in the chat? What happened?
- 21:04Speaker 8: Kind of dead?
- 21:05Speaker 7: Oh? Get called out one time?
- 21:09Speaker 6: You should be embarrassed.
- 21:10Speaker 9: You should be dead ass chat, not the good dead ass.
- 21:16Speaker 8: Not the good dead ass. Okay, so actually we could
- 21:20Speaker 8: do this? Well, did y'all have something for here?
- 21:24Speaker 7: If we did, doesn't matter.
- 21:25Speaker 9: Hunt sent us a station survey, curious to know what
- 21:28Speaker 9: you think. I messaged him back unsubscribe, but then I
- 21:32Speaker 9: just resubscribed to it and send him who I thought, Uh, hey,
- 21:36Speaker 9: don't be.
- 21:36Speaker 7: A sensitive sensitivity fine here, bud.
- 21:38Speaker 9: So who who is your pick to be a breakout
- 21:43Speaker 9: player for l s U this fall?
- 21:44Speaker 7: For the tags? I like that? It's okay, that's so
- 21:50Speaker 7: much tag? Either or.
- 21:56Speaker 8: I love you?
- 21:58Speaker 7: You're so good.
- 22:00Speaker 5: I hope y'all know that what she's talking about because
- 22:04Speaker 5: she does it really well.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I don't actually.
- 22:07Speaker 8: Wait Shrek forever after the Little Boy, that's like there
- 22:11Speaker 8: are are okay.
- 22:13Speaker 6: Right, I am like I would have never quoted that,
- 22:16Speaker 6: but we.
- 22:17Speaker 7: Like, I quit it all no reason.
- 22:21Speaker 9: Christy texted our group chat the other day and he
- 22:24Speaker 9: was like, like last week and he was like, we
- 22:26Speaker 9: need to bring back you saying do the role all
- 22:28Speaker 9: the time.
- 22:29Speaker 8: I don't know why I do that.
- 22:30Speaker 6: That's the first time of her, like, I've been around
- 22:33Speaker 6: you for over a year now here.
- 22:35Speaker 7: He might not have been here because we did a
- 22:37Speaker 7: show where.
- 22:38Speaker 9: We like Taylor and maybe because we were saying Taylor
- 22:42Speaker 9: sounded like the Little Boy.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm going to give you my breakout player,
- 22:53Speaker 5: Paul Landra Flynn y'all.
- 22:54Speaker 7: I'm sorry if I steal y'all.
- 22:56Speaker 8: Okay, I don't think people are going to steal mine.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Dylan Jones running, Okay, that's my breakout player. I know
- 23:02Speaker 5: you have Harlean Barry, I know you have Kayden Durham.
- 23:05Speaker 5: I realize that you've got a deep backfield. You have
- 23:08Speaker 5: two other transfers as well coming in. But Dylan Jones,
- 23:11Speaker 5: when you talk to guys that are on the field,
- 23:14Speaker 5: guys on the defense going against him, they light up
- 23:17Speaker 5: when they talk about him and how hard he is
- 23:19Speaker 5: to bring down all those type of things. So give
- 23:22Speaker 5: me Dylan Jones running back to break out as a
- 23:25Speaker 5: transfer from Wisconsin.
- 23:28Speaker 8: Do you have your answer? Do you want me to go?
- 23:30Speaker 8: Because I already sent Hunt my email?
- 23:32Speaker 7: Go ahead, Okay.
- 23:33Speaker 9: So I think that, like all the signs are pointing
- 23:35Speaker 9: to ty Benifield being the breakout star. Like when you
- 23:38Speaker 9: ask people at Camp Taylor over here cannot stop talking
- 23:42Speaker 9: about ty Bennafield. So I think, I think ty Bennifield
- 23:45Speaker 9: is going to be somebody who's a breakout player. But
- 23:48Speaker 9: I felt like it was a chalk answer, So I
- 23:50Speaker 9: was like, let me go a little different, and.
- 23:52Speaker 7: I'm gonna go with Bo Bordelin.
- 23:54Speaker 8: I know he's been there. It's this fifth year. I
- 23:56Speaker 8: know he's been there.
- 23:58Speaker 9: But I with stuff like this, I tend to pay
- 24:00Speaker 9: attention to what teammates and stuff like that. Say, Witt
- 24:03Speaker 9: was asked about wearing number eighteen, and he was like,
- 24:06Speaker 9: I mean, obviously I would be honored to wear number eighteen,
- 24:09Speaker 9: but Bo Borderline is somebody who deserves to wear that
- 24:13Speaker 9: number as well, and when your teammates are saying stuff
- 24:15Speaker 9: like that, obviously people think that you're a leader been
- 24:18Speaker 9: there for a while, and I think he set for
- 24:21Speaker 9: a breakout season because you have all these new pieces
- 24:23Speaker 9: on the offensive line, and I think that he could
- 24:26Speaker 9: be the anchor that kind of like he's been in
- 24:29Speaker 9: the program.
- 24:30Speaker 8: It's been a rotational piece.
- 24:31Speaker 9: For the last four years, but now he Like sometimes
- 24:34Speaker 9: I don't think that the breakout star is somebody who's
- 24:36Speaker 9: new or no for sure, or is like a sophomore
- 24:40Speaker 9: or whatever. Sometimes it's the guy that's waited his turn
- 24:44Speaker 9: for four years and he's the one anchor on the
- 24:47Speaker 9: offensive line and a new offense and Sam Levitt, you're
- 24:52Speaker 9: gonna have to protect him a lot too. So I
- 24:54Speaker 9: feel like bo borderline is prime to become maybe an
- 24:58Speaker 9: all SEC offense.
- 25:00Speaker 7: Like, great answer. I love that.
- 25:01Speaker 5: It's a really good answer, really thought out, way.
- 25:05Speaker 7: Better than what he's about to say.
- 25:07Speaker 6: For sure, Wayne.
- 25:08Speaker 8: Kiffin, Sam Levi.
- 25:12Speaker 7: Breakout player.
- 25:13Speaker 6: He's gonna be good, brother. Yeah, I agree with you,
- 25:17Speaker 6: olandre with you. Listen to what teammates are saying, right,
- 25:23Speaker 6: So I started thinking about what you know the first
- 25:26Speaker 6: person when we asked what basically this question, who are
- 25:29Speaker 6: you excited to play with? Play like or like? Where
- 25:33Speaker 6: just give me one guy on the team. And again
- 25:36Speaker 6: we didn't say offense. We didn't say and he said
- 25:37Speaker 6: PJ Woodland and he didn't even think about it. He
- 25:40Speaker 6: did it rolled off his tongue. So in a year
- 25:43Speaker 6: where we have a first round corner, in a year
- 25:46Speaker 6: that we have another high draft pick safety, I really
- 25:50Speaker 6: like the entire secondary, and I like that, I like
- 25:53Speaker 6: the chemistry that the defense is gonna have from a
- 25:55Speaker 6: coaching perspective and a personnel perspective. But the two corners
- 25:59Speaker 6: when weeks the first person immediately that he says, and
- 26:03Speaker 6: we didn't say. This wasn't like a leadership question or
- 26:06Speaker 6: a guy that deserves it question. This is like, which
- 26:08Speaker 6: player are you most excited about? PJ Woodland immediately right
- 26:13Speaker 6: or PYJ Woodland whatever we payja, But I'm going to
- 26:18Speaker 6: say him and DJ Pickett both both of these guys.
- 26:22Speaker 6: So A gather played both the corners. So the guy
- 26:24Speaker 6: that played as a true freshman, the guy that is
- 26:26Speaker 6: a physical freak for that position, that body type does
- 26:30Speaker 6: not look like a corner. Now the corners that have
- 26:33Speaker 6: looked like him and that are really good, are really
- 26:36Speaker 6: really good. So this guy has a skill set to
- 26:39Speaker 6: be an absolute just showstopper corner Now, both of these guys,
- 26:44Speaker 6: I'm excited to watch them work. I am hopeful that
- 26:47Speaker 6: both of these guys are going to be true lockdown
- 26:51Speaker 6: college cornerbacks. And I think that with DJ hasn't been
- 26:55Speaker 6: able to take the take a huge leap from year
- 26:57Speaker 6: one to two. Like, look, it's a true freshman. Yeah, okay,
- 27:01Speaker 6: so he's day one started from day like. He has
- 27:04Speaker 6: the the skill set, certainly, but now he's got a
- 27:07Speaker 6: year under him. He understands the game like he was
- 27:10Speaker 6: playing high school football two years ago and then he
- 27:13Speaker 6: plays last year, so like he has had an opportunity
- 27:15Speaker 6: to also put on wait, put on the muscle, like
- 27:18Speaker 6: have the nutrition, have the Jeff Michael Johnson cooking the
- 27:21Speaker 6: meals every sing Like he has had a year in
- 27:25Speaker 6: the system of the college, and I think he can
- 27:26Speaker 6: make a great year one to two jump. We will see.
- 27:29Speaker 6: I'm very excited about the defense, but specifically those corners.
- 27:33Speaker 5: We went to practice last year, and outside of making
- 27:35Speaker 5: fun of how non physical and short it was, the
- 27:39Speaker 5: other takeaway we had was, oh my god, that's a
- 27:42Speaker 5: corner and he's a what freshman?
- 27:45Speaker 7: It blew you away. I remember you asking about, like what.
- 27:47Speaker 6: Positions that fellow play was that he played. He's got
- 27:49Speaker 6: to be like he's a.
- 27:54Speaker 8: Like like the way he's built. He's very long.
- 28:00Speaker 7: That's a good answer. I like that. Both of y'all
- 28:01Speaker 7: good answers.
- 28:02Speaker 10: Paul, Oh, you got one, so I kind of got
- 28:06Speaker 10: two of them. One's kind of a chalk answer. I'm
- 28:09Speaker 10: gonna go Harlem Barry. He's the true number one. He's
- 28:13Speaker 10: you know, last year he was kind of in a committee.
- 28:16Speaker 10: This year he's in Lane Kiffn's offense. Can he be
- 28:18Speaker 10: the key one Lacy type? And then a backup that
- 28:21Speaker 10: I'm kind of looking at is Zach Weeks. Okay, he's
- 28:25Speaker 10: kind of, you know, filling in the West role. He's
- 28:28Speaker 10: gonna some say he could be the better of the three.
- 28:34Speaker 10: He'll get on the field more this year. He's not gonna,
- 28:37Speaker 10: you know, be a starter over his brother and Dottery,
- 28:40Speaker 10: but let me just see if he can take the
- 28:42Speaker 10: next step to propel himself the next season.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Yeah, he could be in some sub packages for sure.
- 28:46Speaker 5: With his athletic ability, he's certainly gonna be a core
- 28:49Speaker 5: for war. Daddy got on the field a little bit
- 28:51Speaker 5: last year, So I like that really good thought out answers.
- 28:55Speaker 7: Nobody went, chalk, I appreciate that you have one. I mean.
- 29:03Speaker 5: It's shocked, but I am so looking forward to watching
- 29:06Speaker 5: time infield run around. Okay, yeah, it's still a good answer.
- 29:10Speaker 5: I mean, he's going from the Mountain West to the SEC.
- 29:13Speaker 5: We think we project, but we don't know.
- 29:15Speaker 8: I think he'll be a breakout player too. I just
- 29:17Speaker 8: wanted to be different.
- 29:18Speaker 3: From everybody else.
- 29:20Speaker 6: Somewhere out there. Taylor was punching air.
- 29:22Speaker 5: Yeah, because nobody said Luke brought it home for him.
- 29:26Speaker 6: He's front kicking air. He's punching it razor. Now, it
- 29:32Speaker 6: was whoa not bad bro athlete?
- 29:37Speaker 7: How bad? How bad did it bother you last week
- 29:40Speaker 7: that you couldn't turn your hat?
- 29:41Speaker 4: Oh?
- 29:42Speaker 6: I hate the headphones so bad. My hat had to
- 29:45Speaker 6: just sit here like this and not move at all.
- 29:48Speaker 7: Have headphones.
- 29:49Speaker 9: I like that hat though, thank you. You don't usually
- 29:52Speaker 9: wear hats like that.
- 29:54Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the only poncho had that fits both of
- 29:56Speaker 7: our heads.
- 29:57Speaker 6: Yeah, most of them don't. This one does. Okay, probably
- 30:02Speaker 6: a male model.
- 30:04Speaker 8: I forgot that you were a male model.
- 30:06Speaker 7: Yeah, weird.
- 30:07Speaker 8: Yeah, y'all are both male. I mean, look, I'm not
- 30:10Speaker 8: saying anything, but the LSU Ponchos were the only ones I.
- 30:13Speaker 7: Sold out, the only ones. They finally got him back.
- 30:16Speaker 8: Yet, Do y'all think Taylor's listening and he's true? Do
- 30:19Speaker 8: you think Taylor's listening and he's telling.
- 30:21Speaker 9: Razor how we're all all idiots because none of us
- 30:24Speaker 9: all said about.
- 30:25Speaker 8: Doubt, Like, he's like, Razor, I gotta tell you about Tie.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Yes, we talked about Baker Mayfield earlier. He goes, let
- 30:31Speaker 5: him tell you about Baker. Let me tell you about.
- 30:34Speaker 8: Let me tell you about Baker.
- 30:37Speaker 9: No, do y'all remember I said, what if you named
- 30:40Speaker 9: the baby Baker? Like I don't think Baker is a
- 30:42Speaker 9: bad name, And he was like, we actually thought about it.
- 30:45Speaker 8: But they thought about the name Baker.
- 30:48Speaker 7: It's Garrett, right.
- 30:50Speaker 8: Wait, the real baby's name. The baby's real name is Griffin. Griffin,
- 30:55Speaker 8: but we've literally only referred.
- 30:58Speaker 5: To I really like mad, Yeah, good Griff.

- 39:54Speaker 7: many times I heard that man say that last point?
- 39:56Speaker 7: We got a break.
- 39:58Speaker 5: Bo Polini's the best cusser of stringing them together that
- 40:01Speaker 5: didn't really go together.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Bo was pretty good. I mean, they were all champions
- 40:08Speaker 6: in their own right. They were. They're all heavyweight champions,
- 40:11Speaker 6: just a different division, that's true. Different division.

- 42:46Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 42:46Speaker 7: Where do you go? All right?
- 42:59Speaker 5: Asked the bench, brought to you by friends over at
- 43:01Speaker 5: dose sekis it's always a great time to go for
- 43:03Speaker 5: a dose to the bench vibes on coachlay vibes.
- 43:13Speaker 7: I mean, yeah, what a stupid question, asked the bench.
- 43:23Speaker 5: Did you both always plan to come back to br
- 43:26Speaker 5: after your playing days or was there other possibilities? So
- 43:29Speaker 5: I bought a house in br after I got drafted,
- 43:32Speaker 5: it was always the plan to come back here. Unfortunately,
- 43:35Speaker 5: people found out I wasn't here all the time and
- 43:38Speaker 5: broke into my house twice over in Willow Grove, and
- 43:41Speaker 5: so that kind of changed our plans because we didn't
- 43:43Speaker 5: have anybody to watch our home and they knew what
- 43:45Speaker 5: they were doing their pros, I mean, the alarm system
- 43:47Speaker 5: and the whole deal. So that kind of changed our plan.
- 43:50Speaker 5: So we bought a house in Shreveport for the all
- 43:53Speaker 5: seasons of my dad, who's a policeman, and my mom
- 43:54Speaker 5: could go and check on the house and different things.
- 43:57Speaker 5: So when I retired, we moved back to Shreveport for
- 44:00Speaker 5: like four years just because we had a house there.
- 44:02Speaker 7: But the plan was always to find our way back
- 44:04Speaker 7: to back.
- 44:05Speaker 6: Yeah. Crime sucks, man. Yeah, uh no, it wasn't my plans.
- 44:09Speaker 6: This might come to as a shock to everybody, but
- 44:13Speaker 6: I don't really have a plan. A lot didn't really
- 44:15Speaker 6: have a plan. We just kind of we just kind
- 44:16Speaker 6: of wing did it. We just kept we kept coming
- 44:18Speaker 6: back here every off season. Yeah, and we just kept
- 44:21Speaker 6: kept being in the league for another year. So you
- 44:23Speaker 6: get one two maybe three months off a year. We
- 44:26Speaker 6: just kept coming back here because we had friends when
- 44:27Speaker 6: we knew it was comfortable, just for that like a
- 44:30Speaker 6: short amount of time, and all of a sudden, we're
- 44:32Speaker 6: married and had kids and had a house and stuff
- 44:35Speaker 6: and started a business and the kids got in school,
- 44:38Speaker 6: and look, we're still here. We're still here.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Uh, let's see ascid the bench. Did we ever find
- 44:46Speaker 5: out who can play on the men's basketball team? No,
- 44:48Speaker 5: still finding that out, still figuring out who what went
- 44:51Speaker 5: and where, what language they speak.
- 44:52Speaker 8: I think the feel around the programs.
- 44:54Speaker 9: That they're gonna get amount of them to be able
- 44:57Speaker 9: to come play.
- 44:58Speaker 8: They still came out.
- 44:59Speaker 7: They feel very strongly.
- 45:01Speaker 5: I feel that their team is going to be the
- 45:03Speaker 5: team that they've reported.
