Transcript
- 0:01The sun is shining in the sky. We wouldn't know because we're so happy
- 0:08inside. And some people on skis, but we would rather sit on down
- 0:16and talk some movies. We're the evid Indoorsmen. Come listen to our show.
- 0:22We're the evid Indoorsmen at home on the go. We're the Evidendorsmen.
- 0:29We hope you love it, so come on in and stay. We'll do
- 0:34our best to make you smile. Indors, what is happening? I'm Rob
- 0:42Lunechrist and I'm Boog and we're the Evidendorsment. Hello everyone, How are you
- 0:50good? I'm pretty good. I feel full of allergies today to be oh
- 0:54no, I am. But they're the seasonal ones, not the food death
- 0:58ones. So that's a plus that it's a big plus. If we have
- 1:00to go with allergies, let's go for those ones. All these plants are
- 1:04out here just having an orgy like they do. Bloody plants. You know
- 1:10what sucks those I don't feel like I had these when I was younger,
- 1:12and now I'm getting these and it just seems like a little bit of an
- 1:15ne fhew being that I have all the food allergies, right like rude,
- 1:21you know, just rude. That is rude. I don't like this.
- 1:23Fine, I don't like that. Man. When I get these Now,
- 1:26I sneeze forever. I bet I've sneezed one hundred times to day. And
- 1:30I don't think I'm being facetious at all, Like I just I will just
- 1:36sneeze for hours. My abs are toast right now. Hey, n nobody
- 1:44will ever see them. But they hurt, but they hurt. But yes,
- 1:49ultimately I'm very well. How are you? I am doing very well
- 1:53as well. Yeah, it's been good. Been back home for a few
- 1:57days. We had a great three weeks a tour. They were fun,
- 2:05and I got this Patsy Cline tribute coming up next, which I'm very excited
- 2:10for. Man, is that like a like is that going to be on
- 2:15TV or anything? Or is that it is supposed to be on TV?
- 2:17Yeah, it's at the Rhyman Auditorium and I think currently it is going to
- 2:23be on PBS at some point. But the names, man, the names
- 2:27that are going to be at this thing are just that well, Patsy is
- 2:30like the best. So yeah, So one thing we're trying to do,
- 2:34Rita Wilson is going to be there, and so we're really hoping her husband
- 2:38comes there, and we are trying to shoehorn ourselves into possibly singing back up
- 2:46to Rita Wilson just in case. I love that. I love that.
- 2:52It would be amazing to meet Rita Wilson. She's been in so many amazing
- 2:54movies that I've enjoyed. But that would be crazy. So many good people
- 3:00in this thing, man, I'm just I'm shocked, and we're honestly some
- 3:04of the only males there. Yeah, it's kind of fun though. Yeah,
- 3:10it'll be really fun. Yeah. Man, that's gonna be crazy.
- 3:14It's gonna be crazy. And that's coming up next and then we have like
- 3:16three more shows and then I'm home for a while. So how exciting it
- 3:21is exciting sometime per summer. Yeah, it's gonna be good summer. Yeah,
- 3:25I love it. Man. That sounds great. That sounds great to
- 3:29Have you been watching any movies lately? I have. I went to the
- 3:32theater and I saw a movie called Snack Shock. Have you ever heard of
- 3:37this? Prob? No, I know, it sounds like it's straight out
- 3:42of the eighties. Honestly, is this another like one that you didn't hear
- 3:46about until what is it called screen unseen? It's not one of those I
- 3:51had. Someone had said they were interested in seeing it, and I was
- 3:54like, yeah, I'll go see that, and honestly, it is.
- 3:59It is an eighty movie because I think it's an early nineties movie technically,
- 4:03but it's a coming of age story about two friends and they're kind of like
- 4:09entrepreneurs. And it was really good. I actually really liked it a lot.
- 4:13It had a ton more heart than I was expecting. I thought it
- 4:16was just gonna be kind of a raunchy ra or raunchy comedy kind of thing
- 4:21because it's rated R. I believe, Yeah, rated R, so that's
- 4:26kind of what I thought I was getting into. But it's in Nebraska City,
- 4:30Nebraska in nineteen ninety one, and these two entrepreneurs end up they're like
- 4:36brewing beer at the beginning, and then they get caught, so then they
- 4:40they bit it out and work at the snackshack and it's all the chaos that
- 4:44ensues from there. But it's pretty great. I had a fun time.
- 4:47The only real people I knew, and I don't even know if I knew.
- 4:51I had to look it up, but that Gabriel LaBelle from The Fableman's
- 4:56was in it, okay, kid from the Fablemen okay, and he was
- 5:01good. And then I recognized Nick Robinson but I don't I want to without
- 5:06seeing his name, and then a couple of the adults. But it's pretty
- 5:11much like no name folks for the most part. It was written and directed
- 5:15by Adam ray Meyer, who also hasn't done a lot of other stuff,
- 5:19which is kind of fun. So it's just so many names I've never heard
- 5:24before, I know, isn't that strange? Though. It's kind of fun
- 5:27though, to like get some new blood in there. And sure, yeah,
- 5:30I thought everyone was great. There's a gallont called Mika Abdallah and she
- 5:34is just so cool and so sexy. It's really fun. Hell yeah it
- 5:42was. It was a good time. I liked it a lot. I
- 5:44don't even think it was in theaters for like a minute, and I just
- 5:47happened to catch it. So I'm sure it'll be on a streamer at some
- 5:51point, but I don't think it's available anywhere yet, So okay, keep
- 5:56an eye out. It'd be a worthwhile watch. I think you'd like it.
- 5:59Specific cool. Thank you to enjoy but yeah, that's what I watched.
- 6:02How about you, what have you seen lately? Well, I went
- 6:04to the streaming services. I hadn't been to a movie for a while.
- 6:10I saw a civil war like we talked about, well right, and I
- 6:13did see doing Part two again to get caught up, but nothing outside of
- 6:17yeah, exactly. Yeah. So I've been on the A twenty four movie
- 6:21kick, like I've expressed, And if anyone else is interested in doing this,
- 6:28HBO Max has a whole section on their homepage that are all A twenty
- 6:31four films. So just throwing that out, just I should just start looking
- 6:34for someone. I'm looking for a movie. It's a good Yeah, I
- 6:38love it. So I decided to watch the documentary on Oasis called Oasis super
- 6:43Nova. Oh yeah. I didn't know much about Oasis besides the fact that
- 6:48the two main singers were brothers and they were controversial and broke up pretty early.
- 6:56But it was fun to see their story and how fast they rose to
- 7:00fame and how quickly they burned out. It was really impressive. Noel Gallagher
- 7:05seems to be just a genius songwriter, yeah, and could make an entire
- 7:11song in just a few hours, and like some of their biggest songs,
- 7:15Nuts and Liam was this like naturally talented performer that had a lot of issues
- 7:21and they definitely use some drugs and got into trouble and like nightmare to deal
- 7:28with, right, Like, yeah, I mean I think they I think
- 7:30they both both are in their own way. Yeah, okay, but it
- 7:33was very interesting just to see how all that came together and how it all
- 7:39fell apart. And it's worth checking. It's really well done. And yeah,
- 7:45it was fun to learn more about this band. Very cool. Yeah,
- 7:47I don't know anything about them basically, so that's kind of sweet.
- 7:50Nice. That was cool. Love it, love it, very cool.
- 7:54Have you been streaming anything? Yeah, I streamed on HBO Max Best Picture
- 8:00Winner. I watched Argo again because it I don't seen it the one time,
- 8:05and I was like, I remember really liking this. That movie is
- 8:09fantastic, dude, it's so fun, so good. Uh. Yeah,
- 8:13I don't really have like a lot of like, you know, earth shattering
- 8:18things to say. Other things. The cast is crazy stacked. You know,
- 8:22you got Benny Affleck, Brian Kranston, John kun the big thing he
- 8:26got the snub he didn't get up for Best Director for that oh that it
- 8:31was up for best well one, best picture, and he's one of the
- 8:35directing debut. No, no, he did Gone, Baby Gone, that's
- 8:39right, that was before that. Yeah, yeah, but that was the
- 8:43big thing with that. For some reason, Argo lives in a space in
- 8:46my brain where it feels like it's much much older than it is. I
- 8:50don't know why exactly. It's set back then, you know, that's probably
- 8:54and it's I mean it's twenty twelve, so it is relatively old already at
- 8:58this boy, But but yeah, I don't know why. But yeah,
- 9:01that is crazy because it's it's super compelling, dude, Like it's cased really
- 9:07well for you know, a movie that is not necessarily all that crazy action
- 9:13packed. Like a lot of the action is like the intrigue and the politically
- 9:16kind of stuff, right, So that can be a little tough. But
- 9:20yeah, I thought he did a great job. And I loved everybody in
- 9:24this. I thought they were all just so fun. It was a really
- 9:26fun rewatch. I had a good time. Yeah, it's fun. Yeah.
- 9:30I was just kind of like, I haven't seen this in a while,
- 9:31and I was like, yeah, let's just do it. And it
- 9:33was it was fantastic, fantastic. Yeah, how about you? Though even
- 9:37streaming I have been streaming things. I decided just decided, I've decided to
- 9:46start Yellowstone now that nobody is talking about it anymore and that I missed the
- 9:52wave on it completely. Anybody, anybody, any anybody else? No,
- 9:58it's a me. They've made like three different spinoffs at this point, and
- 10:03I'm just starting seas actual show is five or six and is still going.
- 10:11It's that I don't know. I don't know either. It doesn't matter,
- 10:15but yeah, it took me a long time to get into it, and
- 10:18it's pretty good. It's it's created by Taylor Sheridan, who we've enjoyed in
- 10:22the past with Hell or High Water and When River as well as other things.
- 10:26Really impressive cast with Kevin Costner is the patriarch of this Dutton family.
- 10:33Not a ton of big names, but people you recognize, like Kelly Riley
- 10:37who really shines in the show, Cole Houser who we've seen in a lot
- 10:41of things, Gil Birmingham who we loved from Hell or High Water, his
- 10:48Jeth Bridge's partner, Wes Bentley, who is in American Beauty. Not that
- 10:52I don't think you've seen that one, but I recognize his face for sure.
- 10:56Yeah, And Danny Houston is kind of the nemesis in this first season,
- 11:01and it's it's pretty good. I'm not totally hooked. I feel like
- 11:05this has been done before with like Peaky Blinders or Sons of Anarchy, where
- 11:13it's you know, this family, they're always getting into this like really really
- 11:18ridiculous problems total and just one thing after the other, and you're just like,
- 11:26really, I mean, the last similar stories, but the setting is
- 11:28what's supposed to grab you kind of right, yeah, yeah, And so
- 11:33I just feel like it's it feels way more like a soap opera to me
- 11:37than those other shows did. That's for some reason, that's always been my
- 11:41like gut reaction to like previews and stuff. I'm just like, I don't
- 11:46know. And Sons of Anarchy, while I watched that whole series, there
- 11:50were times where I felt that way as well. Absolutely, I would always
- 11:56like halfway through the season just be like, should I keep watching this?
- 11:58I'm not sure it would be amazing. So I kind of feel like that's
- 12:03what this is a little bit. Some of it is really great, though,
- 12:09and some of it is a little campion over the top, but so
- 12:11I'm a little on the fence. I'll probably keep up with it, you
- 12:16know, when I'm home and stuff, because it's on Peacock now. Nice,
- 12:20And I need to justify having that streaming service as I got it for
- 12:26a kids movie and then forgot to cancel it, and now I spend it
- 12:31for a kids movie six years ago and all right, we'll watch Yellowstone.
- 12:39So it is also nice to have, I mean, as long as you're
- 12:41enjoying it, something where you can be like, well, there's a thousand
- 12:43of these, so I can hit a ton, I can whittle away with
- 12:48these or whatever. Sure, yep, you don't have to decide or whatever.
- 12:50So that's kind of nice. Yeah, nice, Sorry I had to
- 12:56sniffle up. Well, what do you think should do a few plug a
- 12:58roonies up? Speaking of plugged up, you guys can visit us as always

- 13:50for this one, we decided to do our top five favorite sports movie relationships
- 13:58relationships in sports movies. I feel like I don't have anything cool for this
- 14:03one, but I just because like we all love sports movies. But we'll
- 14:07see, we'll see what happens. Yeah, I think it's gonna be fun,
- 14:09though it will because it's gonna be so many I haven't thought of.
- 14:13I bet and our guest was the one who came up with the idea.
- 14:15Oh, it was always fun and they are stoked for it, So it
- 14:18should be great. It should be great. Speaking of that, guess,
- 14:22I guess now's the time we're here today to talk about Field of Dream.
- 14:26Finally it's finally happening, it is celebrating, it's I should have looked this
- 14:33up. Probably it was nineteen eighty nine. What does that mean? Thirty
- 14:37fifth, thirty fifth, Mama, thirty fifth anniversary? All that? Well,
- 14:43I say it all the time. I don't know what you're talking about.
- 14:46You who is around me all the time and has never heard me say
- 14:48it? That's an in such jo for Robins. Yeah, sorry, guys,
- 14:54hey, you know it is what it is, right, But yes,
- 14:56we are here to talk about this movie. And there's one person we
- 15:00both thought of immediately media when we were going to talk about this movie.
- 15:05So let's welcoming back. He's beautiful, he's lovely, he's a potato to
- 15:07some give it up for Nate Stone. What's up Nate? Hey, guys,
- 15:13Hi, it's been so long, it's been so long. I'm so
- 15:18glad you're back. One week. No, it's been more than one.
- 15:22I'm good. I'm good. I'm just happy to be back. We're happy
- 15:26to have you, especially for another wait have you am? I what are
- 15:31we doing? Can I say baseball? Yeah? Oh we told him.
- 15:37I was like, no, that I've done thirty fifth anniversary of Field of
- 15:46Dreams thirty five years and you are our dream and Rob and I are the
- 15:52field. Yeah we did it. Yeah, it doesn't really make sense,
- 15:56but I like it. You know, it's fun watching this movie again.
- 16:02And I've watched the special features before whoa at the Cabin multiple times, But
- 16:10I haven't seen this movie in a in like a year or two, and
- 16:12I normally watched every spring. But it worked out that I hadn't watched it
- 16:18this year yet. Watch the special features again. I'm jealous. I've never
- 16:22seen any special features. I only had it on VHS way back in the
- 16:26day, and then I never got it on DVD. Well the special feature
- 16:30for VHS was it not getting stuck in the VC? Yeah, this is
- 16:37your special feature? That's cool. Yeah. So, well, we're dangerously
- 16:44close to a hot take, but let's just yeah, we're not Gonnam.
- 16:48Sorry. I'm really excited. If you build it, they will come.
- 16:52We want to make sure everyone goes to Etsy and checks out because Rhodes Designs
- 16:57is gonna be up soon. If not already. Yeah, it hopefully will
- 17:03be up. I got myself a nice little CNC machine doing some customs sign
- 17:07work, So yeah, I'm gonna do some cabin signs I think to start
- 17:11off with and nice people want what a C and C stand for? Not
- 17:17for me, for the listeners obviously, yeah, yeah, yeah, for
- 17:18the listeners. Computer are we're talking about it like a laser machine. So
- 17:26it's a C and C router, which fun. I can add a laser
- 17:33to it if I want to do like laser engraving, and I can also
- 17:37add a fourth access if I want to do lath work. Cool faith work,
- 17:42sure, sure, very cool. Well I know less than when we
- 17:47started. So, but are you going to do those those I've seen for
- 17:55at a lot of different cabins where they get like a lake and then it
- 18:00shows like the topography of the lake that they're on. Are you going to
- 18:03do stuff like that? Yes? I can't, I technically can. I
- 18:07have not progressed that far so far. I've only done I've been building custom
- 18:11guitars for myself and then also saw that that was cool. Yeah, that's
- 18:17fun. And I finally on like the seventh body, I think I got
- 18:19it the way I wanted it nice, only like four hundred dollars in a
- 18:23would later, sure, but it's cheaper than going to college, so you
- 18:29know, I just barely that's true. I could have just bought the guitar
- 18:34body, but I thought it'd be more fun to make it, for sure,
- 18:37dude. And that's like you can say, I made this guitar.
- 18:40Are you you're luthier now so you can do the whole thing? Uh?
- 18:44Yeah, basically, I mean I've always when I worked at the music store
- 18:47man Cato where I met home Free, that's what I was doing. I
- 18:51was That's literally how I met the reps because Adam kept bringing their stuff in
- 18:56every two weeks to be fixed because he would unplug stuff and didn't know how
- 19:00to plug it back together. That sounds right, That sounds right. It
- 19:03was pretty rough in the beginning, guys, it was rough. Well,
- 19:08let's talk because maybe would it be harder to make a ukulele. We can
- 19:11chat later. Yeah, I mean we you know, you hit me up.
- 19:18I need more yukes. You're not very far away Bukes. That's true,
- 19:22but we still haven't got together from the last thing we talked. Well,
- 19:25yeah, we're working on that I'm waiting for you to text or call
- 19:27this. Apparently they didn't go through. I guess I don't know what happened,
- 19:34but yeah, lets go to roads Designs on Etsy and and give our
- 19:38boys some work. That sounds fun, man, Yeah, yeah, hopefully
- 19:41I can segue into that and changing less you know, toilets and sinks.
- 19:48But the speaking of needs some toilets. If you can toilet, I actually
- 19:55do. I would like some new toilets. Will We switched ours out and
- 19:59it was great, It was really great. I'm into it. There is
- 20:02something about a nice, new, clean toilet that is nice. I want
- 20:07my butt to be the only butt that's touched. The people that lived in
- 20:11this house before we moved in, they must have been so small because all
- 20:15the toilets were so far to the ground. Did you get old people toilets?
- 20:22I mean they're not super tall, but they're like normal sized toilets where
- 20:26I prefer the short ones, maybe because I'm a short king myself, but
- 20:30also I think it's like a built in squatty potty. Then no, And
- 20:37whenever my folks would come over my in laws like you you have to change
- 20:41your seriously complains about my toilet in the guests bathroom. He's like, oh
- 20:45Jesus, yeah, I'm too old to go down that far. Yeah,
- 20:48exactly. Anyway, we digress. This is gonna be a good episode.
- 20:53If you guys are still listening, Why was this episode seven hours long?
- 21:00I don't understand. Well, there's a whole half hour die Tribe about toilet
- 21:03height. They really got passionate. Listen, you want to talk about a
- 21:07short toilet, get on a tour bus. They are little, baby,
- 21:14they're tiny and short. Well you can't. You're not supposed to sit on
- 21:18them anyway. Yeah, I mean when you are going down there to get
- 21:23in the p in the toilet, is sitting down as your best option?
- 21:27Is true? Yeah, just to be nice to the poop, definitely,
- 21:32No number two is on the no poopy on the bus. Yeah, absolutely,
- 21:34Wait that was a rule, yes, Nate, it certainly is now
- 21:41that you never did that one. What dreams may come? Speaking of dreams,
- 21:48let's talk about field of dreams today. Uh, And I think Rob,
- 21:52I think you should get have started with just a rough enough scene when
- 21:59Iowa farmer Ray. Here's a mysterious voice one night in his courtfield saying,
- 22:03if you build it, he will come. He feels the need to act.
- 22:07Despite tons of lunacy, Ray builds a baseball diamond on his land,
- 22:11supported by his wife Annie. Afterward, the ghosts of great players start emerging
- 22:17from the crops to play ball, led by shoeless Joe Jackson. But as
- 22:22Ray learns, this Field of Dreams is about much more than bringing former baseball
- 22:26greats out to play. What are you giggling about over there? Giggles?
- 22:33Yeah, what are you giggling at? I'm sorry you did great, I'm
- 22:37so sorry. I just so if you build it, he will come.
- 22:41And potential porn names that could be that could come for this movie, Oh
- 22:47for sure. It's it's dirty. It's a dirty and I thought of a
- 22:49really fun one that I'm sure a thousand other people have thought of, but
- 22:52it really got me. So I'm just entertaining myself over here. Should I
- 22:56say what it is? Is it too dirty? Children? You are the
- 23:00only person who knows what it is right now? So I'm okay. So
- 23:03if you don't want to hear, go ahead thirty seconds. But if you
- 23:07build it, he will come. Could be the tagline for Field of Creams.
- 23:11There it is, there, It is that made me really giggle.
- 23:15Guys, I told you that what Dreams May Come thing where Whoopi Goldberg was
- 23:19at the Oscars because it got up for something and she's like, we have
- 23:22to be very very careful how we say this next title? Yeah, which
- 23:29is so funny. Yeah, it was good. I love that anyway.
- 23:33So sorry, let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear what they have to say.
- 23:36Thank god, no one's reviewing this podcast. Critics have this coming in
- 23:40at a rock solid eighty eight percent pretty good, we plus pretty fresh,
- 23:45pretty fresh audience members. I was a little surprised by this. Couple ticks
- 23:49below that shocked. I never would have thought audience would have been lower than
- 23:55critics shot. I don't know why that crazy. It's weird movies though they
- 24:00get weird. Yeah, this was a slow This was a slow grow on
- 24:03it too. I think like it wasn't a blockbuster on it first. Oh
- 24:07really, okay, I think it was one of those that like marinated a
- 24:10little bit and then I can't remember. Don't quote me on that. It's
- 24:14like a cult classic now though. Yeah, I mean, people love it.
- 24:18But let's get into what we think. Let's do our hot take hot
- 24:22take. Oh it's spicy Ray, that's a hot take. That's a hot
- 24:30take. Well that's fun. That is fun. All right, great,
- 24:36I'll go first. Uh this this is the very first time I've ever seen
- 24:41this movie. First of all, I know that's crazy. For some reason,
- 24:45this is one that I missed that I'm more excited I know, and
- 24:49I was actually super pumped that it was finally happening. I was going to
- 24:53get to see it. And it's a really great movie. It is weirder
- 24:57than I thought, just I think, just because it's like an eighties movie,
- 25:03so it feels like there's like fade to blacks in strange positions and like,
- 25:07I don't know, formatting wise, it felt strange at points to me.
- 25:11But what a great movie. And no wonder everyone I've ever talked to
- 25:15that's like, well, it's a baseball movie, but like kind of barely,
- 25:21you know, because it's really it's about baseball one hundred percent, but
- 25:26it's also like not about the game itself. It's about all the things that
- 25:29go around it, and I found it really compelling. I really liked this
- 25:32movie a lot. Other than the weird cuts and the daughter falling off the
- 25:36back of the thing just cracks me up, Like, that's such a it's
- 25:40such a cheesy looking shot. Now, did you see John Mulaney's Yes,
- 25:52he just recaps the movie about the rules of ghost Baseball. It's so funny,
- 25:57funny, it was really funny. Yeah, it was his intro to
- 26:00whatever he was gotcha presenting, and he's like, now, that's a great
- 26:07movie. They should be given that an award, but I guess they'll probably
- 26:10give it to one of this year's anyway, it was so funny, dude,
- 26:15that's really great. I'll have to try. But I forgot about that.
- 26:18Yeah, yeah, that was good. But that that kind of dumptails
- 26:22into what I was gonna say too, because like, this movie has been
- 26:23referenced so many times in other pieces of you know, both like sports and
- 26:30movie culture. So it was super fun to finally get to see it.
- 26:33I was really charmed by it. I thought, you know, not to
- 26:38be macab but like as a person who's at least halfway through his life,
- 26:42now, this film hits in a probably a way that it's different than when
- 26:48you watched it as a kid, you know, just thinking about like what
- 26:52makes a good life, what makes a you know, a fulfilling life and
- 26:56how can we do this? And I just love that timeless quality of that.
- 27:00Know, that's probably something since we've been talking, we've been trying to
- 27:03figure out, right, it's just a thing that we've been doing. But
- 27:07yeah, I just I really liked it a lot. I had a great
- 27:08time. I thought it was way weirder than I thought, in a fun
- 27:14eighties like nineties way where it's just like this is these are the rules.
- 27:18Just shut up and have fun, you know kind of deal. Like I
- 27:19like that. I think it's fun. So I really really enjoyed myself.
- 27:23I could see myself absolutely watching this again in the future. Uh. It
- 27:27really made me want to go see the games that they play there now yea,
- 27:32even though I know that's like impossible, but probably about it. Yeah,
- 27:37it just seems so cool. But yeah, and my hottest take,
- 27:41my hottest take of all this movie is a phenomenal glow up for the state
- 27:47of Iowa, because it really makes Iowa seem pretty cool, dude, because
- 27:52Iowa not that cool. Gang. I'm sorry to any of our friends in
- 27:55Iowa, but like, you know, not a lot there, Yeah,
- 27:59not a lot going on. But yeah, I just thought it was.
- 28:00It was a real walt for Iowa, and it look really fun and beautiful.
- 28:04So is this heaven No, it's Iowa? That should just be like
- 28:08when when it says welcome to Iowa, it should be you know, like
- 28:11I always think. No, I think it does. Know it should Oh
- 28:15yeah, pretty sure on the signs if you're when you're driving in Again,
- 28:21that's funny. I just drove through Iowa and I don't remember, so sorry,
- 28:25I can't help, but yeah, someone had to have also made the
- 28:29joke at some point in a different movie. Is this Heaven No it's Iowa?
- 28:32Does that mean it's hell like? At some point? Right, like
- 28:37are we being tricked? But yeah, overall, I really like this movie
- 28:40a lot. I can totally see why people love it, and I'm happy
- 28:44it's in my lexicon. Now I'm happy too. That's a hot take.
- 28:48I'm glad that this podcast has made it so that you've seen this movie,
- 28:52because yeah, hell yeah. I have always loved Field of Dreams, even
- 28:57had a poster of it in our downstairs family room growing up. Fun This
- 29:03was written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson. He wrote the screenplay that was
- 29:07based off of w p Kinsella's nineteen eighty two novel Shoeless Joe. He also
- 29:14wrote and directed a favorite of mine from back in the day called Sneakers.
- 29:17Have you guys seen Sneakers? I have none? Which one is loved?
- 29:22It was Robert Redford, Ben Kingsley, Dan Eck. We've talked about this.
- 29:26I don't think I've seen it. Love Sneakers. You should check it
- 29:27out anyway. This movie gives me all the feels I can. I can
- 29:33imagine it hits harder for guys like especially older guys like me that are nostalgic
- 29:38for our younger days playing baseball and playing catch with our dads. I know
- 29:45it hit really really hard for me this time rewatching. That's what I'm saying.
- 29:51Like, I bet I was in my feels the whole time, just
- 29:55I felt like it was a permanent, just lump in my throat. Yeah,
- 30:00but it really romanticizes baseball, and if you're not super into the sport,
- 30:03it may be a little too much for you. I think during a
- 30:10speech that I adore James Earl Jones's speech, I was watching it with Adam
- 30:15Baseball, but you know, at one point he's like baseball I'm not sure,
- 30:21but it was a little hokey and he it like took him out of
- 30:23it, like he was like, this is sure is too much. But
- 30:26I love baseball and I love how much the writer clearly loves it as well.
- 30:33Yeah. I thought that the score was beautiful and it's been used for
- 30:37so many inspirational sports things since I'm sure you recognized it from from different things.
- 30:44Yes, Yeah, I thought the casting was great. Getting James Earl
- 30:48Jones was perfect for Terrence Man. Yeah. I love this film, and
- 30:53I love that it's like a supernatural ghost story and not scary at all,
- 30:57which is fun fun. Yeah, it's they snuck that in there kind of
- 31:02almost it's cool. Yeah, I like that. And I also agree that
- 31:06that the little girl falling off is real cheesy, cheesy, and there's one
- 31:12I wish I'll have to go back and watch it again at some point,
- 31:15but there's one spot where they just have a like a they go in close
- 31:22on ray and then just fade to hard black for like two seconds, like
- 31:26a commercial break or something. I was just like, what's happened? And
- 31:30I think it was right before like a road trip montage. Yes it was,
- 31:34Yes, that's the spot. Yeah, and I was just like,
- 31:37I mean, whatever, obviously, but I was just like, huh,
- 31:40we don't really do them like that anymore. I don't think in that same
- 31:44way. That's kind of interesting. Yeah, but that's all I got.
- 31:48Nate, what's your hot take, buddy? Oh gosh, classic, I've
- 31:52loved this one. I mean I grew up watching this in our GMC Mini
- 31:57Conversion Van full game, so yeah, it's this one actually hits home probably
- 32:07harder than most people. There's a little backstory with my family, my dad
- 32:17when he was growing up, his dad is I kind of equate him to
- 32:22like a Doc Brown on my grandpa, who I never met, just kind
- 32:25of like always inventing stuff and kind of out there, and him and my
- 32:29grandma got divorced when my dad was like six or something, and he kind
- 32:36of took off and my dad didn't see him really, I don't remember the
- 32:38age, but pretty young. Didn't see him basically till he was thirty when
- 32:45Field of Dreams came out and he had recently learned that his dad had had
- 32:50a tumor. Because he's still kept in contact with the family that my grandpa
- 32:54had started after his first family and watched Field of Dreams and ended up flying
- 33:02out to Oregon to see his dad after, Like, wow, would have
- 33:08been twenty something years crazy is dad? So yeah, Field of Dreams is
- 33:13the reason that he went and did that, and I was just felt so
- 33:16lucky that I never had to do something like that. So yeah, every
- 33:22like on top of just being a crazy, like intense, you know,
- 33:28emotional movie, yeah that later to it and I literally texted Rob when I
- 33:32was watching it. I'm like, I'm just like misty eyed through the whole
- 33:37thing because the score is so good, so good, and yeah, there
- 33:42are definitely some cheesy qualities, especially the older I get, like it's I
- 33:49love Kevin Costner as an actor in so many things. If I'm going to
- 33:53pick roles for him like being great like this, I love it, but
- 34:01this is not like peak Yeah sure sure, and it's probably again the time
- 34:08like it was the late eighties, early nineties. It's like kind of the
- 34:13style, but sure, ah, just so good. I love I love
- 34:17this movie so much, and it does it just reminds me to like,
- 34:21well, now that I have a kid that can play catch with me,
- 34:23I'm like, yeah, all right, let's go outside. Yeah, let's
- 34:29do this thing. Yeah for sure. So and I will say, like
- 34:31as a I'm not a person who loves baseball anymore, but or you know,
- 34:37just like professional baseball has never been my favorite thing or whatever. But
- 34:42I loved baseball as a kid, even though I sucked at it. My
- 34:45dad coached us every year. You know, I don't think I knew that.
- 34:49Yeah, well he actually because he owned an insurance agency and so we
- 34:52were called but At Agency, which is the name of his company. And
- 34:55I still have hats from them maybe and printed up and stuff, and like
- 35:00it was like a big deal and it was super super fun. Like I
- 35:04loved it as a kid. I still remember, you know, hanging out
- 35:07with all the you know, buddies when we were playing and playing the games
- 35:10and stuff. So that part of it, I'm one hundred percent with you
- 35:15guys on you know. And I just think this movie, like that part
- 35:20of it, the like nostalgic love part of the game, is so well
- 35:24represented in this movie. Oh big time. I mean that's like the whole
- 35:28movie. Yeah, absolutely, I just think it's so cool. Yeah.
- 35:30Well, that's part of it for me is because I don't follow a professional
- 35:35baseball a Ton. I follow the Twins, but I'm not like, I'm
- 35:38not watching every game looking at stats like. I like it for the you
- 35:44know, because I grew up on baseball and the history of it like is
- 35:47just and this movie encapsulates that feeling. Yeah, like the love of baseball
- 35:55big time. Yeah, I love that. That's great. Well, hot
- 36:00takes all around, takes good work. Let's go in and talk about our
- 36:06favorite acting performance. Shall we name thee I'm the dude, so that's what
- 36:12you call me, you know that, or his dudeness or duder or you
- 36:19know, el dud reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 36:22All right, Nate, who you got? Who's your dude? This is
- 36:24tough because you just said, uh, I know, I know, and
- 36:28I actually I actually chose Kevin Costner. I think that's fair. It's totally
- 36:32fair. And I like, I love Kevin Costner in pretty much everything he's
- 36:39ever done. There's just something about him that I don't know. It's like,
- 36:45well, he's hot, yeah, he's like, he has great jeans,
- 36:49sexy. He was wearing some tight jeans real. I can tell his
- 36:54pulse was getting a little high at points. Again, but no, I
- 37:00think he really brings it all together. He plays such a great dumb farmer
- 37:07like he It's it's not like what I was saying before. It's not that
- 37:15he did a mediocre job. I think it's just the way everything was put
- 37:20together. I still think he did a really good job. And he's what
- 37:23draws me into it because I think I relate to his character probably the most.
- 37:29But yeah, it's just there's something iconic about him, and especially in
- 37:35that role, I think he brought like the star quality. Had it been
- 37:37anybody else, I don't know if this movie would have had. Yeah,
- 37:44that's a good point, like extra you know, because even if you watch
- 37:49the extras, and I won't go too far into this because I know we'll
- 37:51talk about it at the end, but in the extras they talk about the
- 37:54making of it and they were literally like halfway through filming and they still didn't
- 38:00know how this was going to turn out real wild, Like all of them
- 38:05were like, we have no clue what this is like really gonna be.
- 38:09That's pretty cool, Like I'm terrifying. Yeah, yeah, lots of money
- 38:14spent, So yeah, I'm gonna have to go with Kevin Costner. Yeah,
- 38:20I mean he's clearly the lead, so it's not not a bad call.
- 38:28Someone else, well, I mean I had him up there, but
- 38:32yeah, I picked James Earl Jones. Now, Kevin Costner is great.
- 38:36I really liked when he would like get excited when like Terrence Man told him
- 38:40he also heard go of the distance, and just seeing him like react to
- 38:45that was pretty great. And like him explaining is his tough relationship with his
- 38:49dad and them being able to see him again was great. So I feel
- 38:52like he was pretty good. But I was with you, Nate. I
- 38:55didn't like always believe him sure in this Yeah you know what I mean,
- 39:05But when I did, it was great. So I went with James Earl
- 39:07Jones. He has one of the best voices ever in movies. I thought
- 39:13he had some of the biggest character development. It was fun to see him
- 39:17start so like stand offish and like even threatening physical violence to joining Rays Dope
- 39:25exactly, and then he joined him and goes across country and yeah, you
- 39:34know, just seeing him then express how much he did love baseball, even
- 39:39though we didn't know that for so long, And but yeah, when then
- 39:45we see him laugh when he goes into the cornfield and it was just like
- 39:47from the beginning to him laughing to going in the cornfield, it was such
- 39:51a one eighty I thought. I thought he was pretty great in this.
- 39:57Love that love that. I love it so much. That's also who I
- 40:00So we are in lockstep on that. I agree with everything else you guys
- 40:04have said, though, like Coster is not bad in this, That's not
- 40:07what I mean at all. Yeah, I think he's really good. It's
- 40:10just a lot of things are happening to him, not you know, from
- 40:15him or whatever. Maybe, But Rob, I'm with you. The part
- 40:20that got me about James Earl Jones in this is his like giggly laughter yeah
- 40:25at the end, and then he also does it a few times before.
- 40:29That is just so it's so pure and beautiful. I love it so much,
- 40:34and I just like that by like you know, like I'm just like,
- 40:37yes, I agree with all of this. And I just thought he
- 40:42had a really a really great, you know role, like you said,
- 40:45with great development, and he's just the best. So he is the best.
- 40:51I don't know if he's giggles like that in other role, any other
- 40:55role I've seen him there, I can't picture him. He kind of and
- 41:00Sam Lot a little bit, but it's he just it's more like a yeah,
- 41:06yeah, but yeah, I'm with you, and it's it's so like
- 41:09it's so cute and great and then especially if you think about like these are
- 41:14people fulfilling their lifelong dreams and he is going to go and like be with
- 41:19them and kind of like the child like wonder of getting to talk about baseball
- 41:23and so like that child leg giggleism there too, and I just think that's
- 41:27so great. Yeah, man, love it, Love it. Well,
- 41:31there are some other characters in this and some really good actors. I feel
- 41:36like maybe it's time to pick the Toucci Award to chi we got for this
- 41:42one. Eh. Well, I was going back and forth. I get
- 41:46it. Ah, It's it's tough because I want to pick James Earl Jones.
- 41:55You certainly can, but for the sake of being I don't want to
- 42:05say different. I'm not like, but because I chose Costner for the favorite
- 42:08actor I kind of want to go off the beaten path here, and I'm
- 42:13actually gonna go with Dwyer Brown as John Consella. Oh. He doesn't have
- 42:20a huge role, right, but it's so compelling, Like he just is
- 42:30so young like the way. I think part of it too is the way
- 42:35Ray talks about him that he never knew him as a young person, and
- 42:39then we see him as this young person towards the end of the movie and
- 42:44he takes off as a mask and it's like it was you Ray, and
- 42:49you know, he goes, I can get all ty. But and like
- 42:55just the lighting on that field at the you know, as the son's kind
- 43:00of starting to go down, and he just like embodies every feeling you can
- 43:08like muster with doing so very little, like just being there. So like
- 43:16he didn't try to overact anything. He didn't you know, he just was
- 43:23existed and it was you do you know the trivia about about that actor?
- 43:29Nt that scene specifically because I can do it now, I haven't written I
- 43:35don't know. Yeah no, I think I do you okay? Yeah?
- 43:38Yeah? And it might have been in like in the the whatever. But
- 43:43apparently, according to the supplementary material on the DVD, shortly before shooting began,
- 43:49Dwyer Brown was notified that his father unfortunately passed away and he came to
- 43:54shoot that scene immediately after the funeral, and so he stated like it like
- 44:01the emotions were obviously very fresh and painful. It had an effect, of
- 44:06course on how he played that scene, and I was like, that makes
- 44:09so much sense because he is obviously feeling a lot of things in that moment,
- 44:15right, and it just made me be like, damn, I bet
- 44:19that was hard as hell to do and stepping in to be the father like
- 44:25yeah, that like role reversal and like, oh jeez. But I thought
- 44:30that was like gave me goosebumps. That little piece of trivia. That's wild.
- 44:37There's this movie has so many fun facts. Yeah, like there are
- 44:43also a lot to choose from them, but that's one of the that's like
- 44:46one of the probably crazier ones. Yeah. Yeah, so that's a great
- 44:51pick. That's a great pick. I'm gonna go with Amy Madigan is an.
- 45:00I love her. Whenever I think of her, I think of Uncle
- 45:04Buck, which also has Gabby Hoffman. I just kind of right away and
- 45:08I was like, I bet, basically yeah, but I enjoyed her.
- 45:13She was super skeptical of what was happening with her husband, but ultimately was
- 45:16supportive and told him to see this adventure through, even with the possibility of
- 45:22losing their home, which I thought was just really powerful. I really loved
- 45:28her scene at the town hall and how she stands up for a freedom of
- 45:31speech and the Constitution, and how pumped up she is when she gets everyone
- 45:37on their side. That was for sure one of the funniest parts of Yeah,
- 45:43she's like doing the fifths. But yeah, I would probably pick her.
- 45:47I love that. I think that's great. Shout out to uh,
- 45:52I think I'll pick well, wait, we haven't talked about Shoeless Joe yet.
- 45:58Yeah. I think he's great in this, really like understated at first
- 46:04and then gets to kind of flex a little bit towards the end. I
- 46:07just I really liked his portrayal in this. I thought it was very believable.
- 46:12Well, and this is he looked like a ballplayer, like totally.
- 46:15I liked it. Yeah, I bought it. And this is like pre
- 46:17Goodfellas, So Raleiota was not a one of his first things or whatever.
- 46:24He was not a big name at this point, and I thought he was
- 46:28pretty good. No, he was close. He because he was already in
- 46:31Casino, and Casino hadn't been out yet. Casino wasn't out until like ninety
- 46:38five. Goodfellas came out the next year in ninety ninety. Yeah, no,
- 46:44you're okay, you're right. I was thinking Goodfellas was predated this,
- 46:49but nope, no, this beat it by a year. I'm always wrong,
- 46:52you're not always wrong style, But after Goodfellas everyone knew ray Leota for
- 46:58sure. Yeah. So yeah, he just kind of had to be kind
- 47:01of stoic and and love the game of baseball. I thought he did a
- 47:04prettyod job well. And he had to learn to Oh I'm to ruin it.
- 47:08There're too many, it's too much trivia. There's a lot. Yeah.
- 47:13You could say he had to learn to bat left handed, which I
- 47:19think is crazy. Yeah, but no, no, no, but he
- 47:23did that. Yeah, they were going to try, but they so he
- 47:28banded up add right handed right? Isn't that what it was? Yes,
- 47:31because shoeless Joe Jackson threw right bat and left he was Yeah, that's pretty
- 47:37cool. Yeah, so, which is funny because I threw left and batted
- 47:43right. So interesting. Actually, no, I did the exact same thing.
- 47:47I'm with you. It's well, it's actually incredibly rare. Yeah for
- 47:52people I do that. I only did because my dad taught me right handed
- 47:57without thinking about it, probably or whatever. Right like, yeah, yeah,
- 48:00well, and I started batting left handed, but I don't know why.
- 48:05At some point I felt like I had more power right handed, and
- 48:07I was like, I'll do this. I golf left handed, but bat
- 48:12right handed. Seen it, I've seen that's wild. Yeah, I don't
- 48:15know you were a lefty. I don't think have this before. I don't
- 48:20know. I yeah, I'm I'm definitely left handed. But as you can
- 48:23probably recut, Yeah, growing up left handed, I'm very ambidexterrous for sure.
- 48:34Yeah, but growing up left handed you're forced to do so many things
- 48:37right handed that you and some people can't. But I was lucky enough that
- 48:42I could adapt pretty well. Like I can golf both right and left.
- 48:45I can throw, I can play baseball throwing right handed. In fact,
- 48:50I got really bad tenanitis when I was coaching my early twenties, and I
- 48:53played the whole season right handed with them. That's crazy, not great,
- 49:00But I can do it. Yeah, you can make it happen better than
- 49:02Rayleota, because he could not figure it out, turn it out, couldn't
- 49:07do it. He wasn't much of a ballplayer before they got a hold of
- 49:09him. Apparently. Honestly, he does fine, though especially if you look
- 49:14at those old like that era of players, they're not graceful players like today.
- 49:21Like I kept looking at that old glove too, Like it just looks
- 49:23like a regular like glove. Yeah, literally glove. It's like, hey
- 49:30guys, I'm gonna go do gardening and then play baseball. Yeah, so
- 49:35wild, like that's when men were men apparently. Uh. Also shout out
- 49:42to Timothy Bussfield of course, the brother. He's kind of a dorky part
- 49:46in this, but I really like that he's kind of the nemesis you needed
- 49:52needed. He's a good nemesis though, like because he was the well he's
- 49:57a nemesis in a bunch of movies, but he's an emin says in Sneakers
- 50:00for a minute. It's really just throw that out there. Also the nemesis
- 50:06in First Kid. Yeah, you're right, you guys, First Kid.
- 50:12Wow, that's really something really digging deep there. Yeah. He was in
- 50:16Revenge of the Nerds back in the day for a long time. Yes,
- 50:22Yeah, he's in liked was he has a little Big League Yep, he
- 50:27was in a little big one right yeah, yeah, crazy crazy. I
- 50:31thought he was good. He was good and the movie needed him. Do
- 50:36you know how nerve wracking it would be to film the scene where he walks
- 50:39in front of the batter That's one of my favorite shot. He didn't flinch,
- 50:45he did just did it. I'm like, I wonder how many takes
- 50:50that took for him. Yeah, like just the react, like being that
- 50:55close. Yeah, that was incredible and this is re c g I yeah,
- 51:01for sure. The guy that was my runner up actually was Burt Lancaster
- 51:07is Doc Blaster Dude. I always knew the name and that he was a
- 51:14movie star from way back when, but I never saw any of those old
- 51:19movies. So when I hear Burt Lancaster, I know him, and this
- 51:24I think is his last movie, I think, I think yeah, And
- 51:32I just thought he was so charming in this made me choke up a few
- 51:39times, Like he was, I mean kind of a perfect character, like
- 51:45he's perfect, he loves his wife, he wants to help people, like
- 51:50he's just a perfect character. Which it's it's tough not to like that.
- 51:55It's funny too, because you don't you rarely see that character, but probably
- 52:01because it's really hard to to to make somebody believable in that. Yeah,
- 52:08but yeah, he's like such a likable dude. Yeah, that was great.
- 52:15Love that. Also shout out to Art Lafleur, who I just I
- 52:21think that's great. He was the babe in the Sandlot. Yeah, he
- 52:24was like bad Ghosts. Yeah. Yeah, and he's been in like a
- 52:29million things, oh my gosh over the years. Like, yeah, he's
- 52:32fantastic. He was really fun in this. I really like bought into his
- 52:37like when they're kind of like talking to each other and all that stuff.
- 52:40I just think that's really fun. I like it. That was fun.
- 52:44Nice. Any other runners up we want to say for I'm good, you
- 52:51know, just we already talked about Gabby Hoffman. I feel like this is
- 52:54her first thing and she was fine. I feel like she gets much better
- 52:59later against but she's a kid. She didn't have to do a lot,
- 53:02so that's good. She had to fall off that bleacher and yeah, must
- 53:10ten stories high. That bleacher was so high. Also, have you guys
- 53:17seen the HBO show Max I guess no girls, Yes, Okay, so
- 53:25she's in that and I was not prepared. Yeah, a lot because I
- 53:32don't seen her in a few things, but that she there's a full on
- 53:37birthing scene in the bathtub. And I was like, whoa, yeah,
- 53:46talk my childhood is Oh my god. Although that scene is also pretty darn
- 53:55funny. If you've seen that. It's been a long time since I've seen
- 54:00it now, but I remember liking it a lot. It's a written show.
- 54:05That's a fun one. Nice. Well, why don't we move on.
- 54:07Let's let's go pick our favorite scene. Let's choose the Dingus dings.
- 54:13The Dingus so is quite simple, really, dingus Ingus. I can talk
- 54:17about my dingus all night long. Well, I mean, right, is
- 54:27there really a choice. It's gonna be where he realizes it's his dad at
- 54:31the end of the movie, and because he's gonna start crying already. Yeah,
- 54:37I can't think about it too much because it'll get me going, you
- 54:40and me both. But yeah, I mean that is like the scene of
- 54:46scenes, as far as the dialogue and the lighting and the music and everything
- 54:57came together. There are so many scenes in this movie that I love,
- 55:01and I, you know, quote with my friends. One of them my
- 55:07buddy Ben, who I grew up with. I've probably mentioned him before because
- 55:10we have a lot of stories together. We played every sport together for like
- 55:14ten years, but every time we go to a Twins game because he's one
- 55:20of the people I go to games with the most. Every time we're standing
- 55:23in line to get a drink, I go, what do you want?
- 55:30So? I want people to leave me alone and stop every time. And
- 55:37I love that scene because it kind of breaks up it like is a serious
- 55:45thing. But they just just the way both those James Earld Jones really brings
- 55:50that scene home. And so sorry that's deviating, but yes, the last
- 55:57the scene where he realizes it's dead. I mean, and I'd even cheat
- 56:01and just do like the last twenty minutes, like yeah, really pretty much
- 56:07from Timothy Bussfield walking through the game because he can't see the players, and
- 56:15we get the monologue from James Earl Jones about baseball and how people will come
- 56:20and and then you get Moonlight Graham in there, who has to like he
- 56:25is Archie and then he becomes Doc to save the girl, which is incredible
- 56:31love. And they let Terrence Man go into the cornfield and he's giggling and
- 56:36it's wonderful. Then we see his dad and just all the tears. Oh,
- 56:42and it's so brutal when he's like you can't go back, and oh,
- 56:47Moonlight. Oh my, there's like that nine. He says, there
- 56:52is like one of my favorites of the movie, Like, there's like nine
- 56:55crying moments. I mean you basically cry through the last twenty. I know
- 57:00it was tough for the boohoos for that. I was thinking about that too,
- 57:04well good luck. Yeah, that one's tough because I mean I was
- 57:07there too. It was just it's amazing. And then he gets to play
- 57:12with his catch with his dad, which is, you know, unbelievable.
- 57:16And then while he's doing that, we see all the cars coming to the
- 57:20field. It's perfect ending to a movie. It's perfect, really strong.
- 57:25So that is clearly the number one. You know what the best part is.
- 57:30I think it was a summer or two ago. We were at the
- 57:32cabin and I think our baseball gloves were up there, and I was like,
- 57:37you know, kind of being funny, but I was like, hey,
- 57:38Dad, want to have a catch, and he just goes, no,
- 57:43yes, we're done. No thing that. But my runner up would
- 57:49probably be kidnapping Terrence Man to go to the baseball game. That scene is
- 57:53so much fun. I love that scene. Yeah, really really fun.
- 57:57Go back to the sixties where you came from before it's too Yeah, yeah,
- 58:01I really love that scene. You're a pacifist, You're right, damn
- 58:07it. Yeah. I thought that was a fun scene. Yeah, that
- 58:13is a great scene. I love He's like, I'm not going to show
- 58:16you my gun. Yeah, I don't think there is a gun. It's
- 58:22your finger, it's not it's my gun. What do you got? Honestly
- 58:30that those were the two that I had as well, to be honest,
- 58:32Like the whole ending scene I just loved so much. I just think it's
- 58:37so great. And then I loved that I guess I'll extend to like when
- 58:43they're at the ball game, that's also really fun. They have a really
- 58:45good, you know, repartee there, which is really fun. But yeah,
- 58:50I feel like I don't don't have a lot to add to the Like
- 58:52I was just like, Yeah, another scene that super love is when they
- 58:59meet and he meets Moonlight Graham and him explaining his time in the majors and
- 59:04how much, yeah, how much he loved being a doctor. Yeah that
- 59:08is really great. I thought that was a wonderful scene. And I love
- 59:14how they did it too, because you know, they researched him, so
- 59:16we know, so much about him before we meet him, and so we
- 59:22know that, you know, he had fifty extra blue hats in his office
- 59:27for his wife, and just how cool of a guy is. But then
- 59:30him explaining like, you know, yeah, it was a bummer that I
- 59:34didn't get to play, but it would have been way more of a bummer
- 59:37if I wouldn't have been a doctor. God, I love that line.
- 59:39That'll I mean, that wasn't I didn't quote it, but no, yeah,
- 59:44yeah, but the sentiment of that, yeah, for sure. There
- 59:46are so many quotable lines in this movie. Well, it sounds like you
- 59:52want to go to the next section, Nate, let's do it. I
- 59:54think we should. We obviously picked the dingis in the last twenty minutes.
- 59:58It's perfect. It's perfect. Even love it. So why don't we go
- 1:00:00to show me the money, Show me the money, show me? Brah?
- 1:00:16I don't. I don't know. There's too many to choose from.
- 1:00:22I don't recommend someone that's the movie of my life. No, I mean,
- 1:00:30if we've already talked about it, But is this Heaven? It's probably
- 1:00:35one of the most quotable line, like, no, this is Iowa.
- 1:00:38I could have sworn it was heaven like that people know that line and have
- 1:00:44never seen the movie for sure that if you build it, he will come.
- 1:00:47Yeah, the two Yeah, I mean those those lines transcended the movie
- 1:00:55itself, which is fantastic. I don't know why. I always thought it
- 1:01:01was funny, but the peace, Love, dope, get the hell out
- 1:01:06of here like that one always got me. I just thought it was funny
- 1:01:14and I didn't understand what it meant when I was a kid. Yeah,
- 1:01:17sure, like sure, yeah. I was probably like twenty four and I
- 1:01:22was like, wait a second, you're talking about marijuana. Yeah. I
- 1:01:30mean I could go down a list of like, yeah lines, but if
- 1:01:37I had to pick one, it would definitely probably be is this Heaven?
- 1:01:42For sure? Yeah, that's a great one. And you already said the
- 1:01:45what do you want? Yes, the kid back there, it's like,
- 1:01:50oh, dog and a beer, Yeah, great, what do you want?
- 1:01:55Yeah. I love seeing Fenway Park because that in nineteen eighty nine was
- 1:02:02actually the year Wriggly was the last field to get lights. And I think
- 1:02:09they they talk about that in the movie literally they Wriggly Feel literally got lights
- 1:02:14the year this movie was made, which is insane. But like, I
- 1:02:19love seeing Fenway in like that it hadn't been updated at all. Yeah,
- 1:02:27so it's still you didn't go to the game. No, we had this
- 1:02:31conversation last time. No, I did go to TD whatever the Celtics place
- 1:02:39to see the Yeah, we the comedy to the comedy show of TD whatever
- 1:02:45whatever it is. But I did not get to go to Fenway. I've
- 1:02:47never been, which makes me simwhere. Yeah, I think it was like
- 1:02:52the Fall. I think we will go. Oh dude, I'm not joking.
- 1:02:55When I started to walk in because of probably this movie. Sure,
- 1:03:00but like I like got emotional walking into Fenway because I had never been there,
- 1:03:06Like yeah, it's like overwhelming. You can like feel the history and
- 1:03:13especially the Socks not winning a World Series or you know for however many years,
- 1:03:21like one hundred years. I had that a little bit with old Yankee
- 1:03:24Stadium. I got to see that back in two thousand and two. But
- 1:03:31and that was it was crazy. But it was like this is a pos
- 1:03:37man, it is old. They need to update this nice Like it's just
- 1:03:42the trough to go and pee in like it was. It was gross in
- 1:03:45there. But I text you when I was at Dodger Stadium. Yeah,
- 1:03:52you did you did. We talked about it because it was a pain in
- 1:03:55the ass. Yeah, it's a it's so fun because it's like step back
- 1:04:00in time. Yeah, because they haven't updated it since I think like eighty
- 1:04:04nine. Wow. And even then it was not like it was just like,
- 1:04:10hey, we go, we'll put a beer tap here. But yeah,
- 1:04:15by modern day standards, those old stadiums are you can't shuffle people through.
- 1:04:20People have more time back in the day, so they show up two
- 1:04:24hours early at the game and right, you know, wait in line and
- 1:04:28do that stuff. Now you show up and it's like by the time I
- 1:04:31get a beer, it'll be the fourth inning. Yeah. Yeah, Well
- 1:04:41back to some of these quotes, Yes, it's all good. I loved
- 1:04:45Moonlight Graham when he says we just don't recognize life's most significant moments while they're
- 1:04:51happening. Back then, I thought, well, there'll be other days.
- 1:04:55I didn't realize that that was the only day. Yeah, yikes. And
- 1:05:02Native already said this one. But just you want to have a catch.
- 1:05:05That's another incredible line. Yeah, that'll catch you. Do we need to
- 1:05:12catch her? Not if you get it near the plate, we don't.
- 1:05:15Yeah, that's a great one, and I mean I could do that whole
- 1:05:20Terrence Man monologue because I love it so much. But it's it's pretty long.
- 1:05:26It because ray people will come ray, they'll come die with for reasons
- 1:05:30they can't even have them. But it goes on for a very long time.
- 1:05:32But if you're interested, go and check it out. It's some amazing
- 1:05:36writing. Yeah writing, And again, I don't know if there's another actor
- 1:05:42that could have done that justice. No, Like, he made it so
- 1:05:45believable. Ye, why do you say some bukes? Yeah. I loved
- 1:05:55the the players like, you know, giving each other crap. I thought
- 1:05:59that was super fun. When the one of them I don't even remember who
- 1:06:01said it, but he's like, yeah, at least I got muscles.
- 1:06:03So he's like, no, at most you got muscles. I just thought
- 1:06:08that was a really great line that i'd never heard said quite that way.
- 1:06:11I thought that was really fun. Then laters, when later when they're like,
- 1:06:15hey, knuckles, what are you throwing out the kid for? He
- 1:06:16winked at me. Don't wink kid, don't wake k it somebody. I
- 1:06:23love that so much. And then I think it's at the I think it's
- 1:06:28at the town hall meeting or whatever school board meeting or whatever it is.
- 1:06:32Yeah. One of the ladies is like, I experienced the sixties, and
- 1:06:36she's like, no, I think you had two fifties and moved right out
- 1:06:40of the seventies. Yeah, which I thought was just a beautiful line.
- 1:06:44It was a line that was so funny. And then because he mastered Baits,
- 1:06:51it's like, oh, oh, Beulah, you call me cow or
- 1:07:00she said yeah, I love that so much. Yeah, go ahead,
- 1:07:03Nate, did you one that cracks me up? And there's so many but
- 1:07:09he goes, yeah, we thought about inviting ty Cop, but none of
- 1:07:12us can stand the son of Guinea's lives. We don't love to stake it.
- 1:07:15Yeah, I am yes, that is straight up. Oh my gosh,
- 1:07:25I'm blanking. We'd already talked good Fellas. Yeah, that is Fellas.
- 1:07:29When you read that line, I was like, oh, there's ray
- 1:07:30there got up. Yeah. I loved that. That was really fun and
- 1:07:36I loved the If I'd only gotten to be a doctor for five minutes,
- 1:07:41that would have been a tragedy. That is so good, so much,
- 1:07:45so good. I love you you doc. That was kind of all the
- 1:07:57ones I had. I had a couple more so. Shoeless Joe says,
- 1:08:00the first two were high and tight, so where do you think the next
- 1:08:03one is going to be? It's like, well, either low and away
- 1:08:05or in my ear. Yes, he's not going to want to load the
- 1:08:09bases, so look low and away, right, but watch out for in
- 1:08:13your ear. That's good. And I like when during that kidnapping scene of
- 1:08:20Terrence Mann and he's explaining his situation just like you're seeing a whole team of
- 1:08:27psychiatrists, aren't you. So I like that, but that was all I
- 1:08:33had, Nate, do you have any more you want to say? Bud?
- 1:08:40I mean, I could go on forever. There's the great line where
- 1:08:45Shoeless Joe Jackson is. He says, man, I did love this game.
- 1:08:49I'd have played for food money. And it's a little longer than that,
- 1:08:57but he talks about putting the glove to his face and yeah, you
- 1:08:59know, just the cool the grass on his feet. And I'm not joking,
- 1:09:01like, because I played a lot of baseball growing up. I played
- 1:09:06Legion all the way through uh SO summer after senior year, and I kind
- 1:09:14of contemplated playing college, but I I think I loved my friends and the
- 1:09:20game, like it just wasn't it wasn't in the cards for me. I
- 1:09:25didn't care enough to play college sports because I wouldn't have been dedicated enough.
- 1:09:29But to this day, I can still smell that grass when it's baby at
- 1:09:36night as the lights turn on, and like smell the glove and the dirt
- 1:09:42and holding a wooden bat in your hand. Like there's just something about baseball
- 1:09:47to me that, oh just all the all like sensory overload. It's it's
- 1:09:54probably one of my favorite like spring memories totally, that's all like every weekend.
- 1:10:02Man. Oh I loved it. Yeah, I loved it so much.
- 1:10:06Some of my favorite times for sure. Oh well, let's let's keep
- 1:10:12going and let's let's go to bugs boohoo moments the crying game, strong men
- 1:10:18also cry. Oh yeah, also wampamp So yeah, I do think that.
- 1:10:30Oh really that says he didn't cry at all. Yeah, I'll take
- 1:10:36that. So I picked five. But again, it just feels like the
- 1:10:44last twenty minutes is one big boohoo. But I'll do my best. I
- 1:10:48thought it was really sweet during that scene that I had brought up with Moonlight
- 1:10:53Graham when he meets him and He's like, Alicia'll be thinking I got a
- 1:10:56girlfriend and he's he's got to get back. Yeah. I love that.
- 1:11:00That's really really great. That whole Yeah, that whole thing was great.
- 1:11:03It was great. James Earl Jones's people will come speech when Moonlight Graham can't
- 1:11:14go over there, and he's like, thank you doctor. He's like,
- 1:11:15no, son, thank you. Obviously his father coming back, yeah,
- 1:11:24and hey dad, do you want to have a catch? I mean,
- 1:11:28but all of that is it? Like yeah? So, but before all
- 1:11:33that, I you know, I didn't really think there were too many boohoos,
- 1:11:39at least for me. Did you have any other one s Nate that
- 1:11:43you think he would have had earlier in the film when he Mots meets Moonlight
- 1:11:48Graham that I mean, yep, that was definitely he nailed that one for
- 1:11:54sure. I I do when the music hits I seen her. I mean,
- 1:12:02I'm not joking. There are moments like in the beginning of the movie
- 1:12:06that I'm like getting tiery, just like when his wife is like believing in
- 1:12:13him, and then they do the montage after he like gets the field built
- 1:12:16and nothing's happening, and I get tiery. Then seeing all four seasons of
- 1:12:21the Field. Yeah, and I don't think he's probably watching it for the
- 1:12:29first time. Yeah, that's that was like I think I could now if
- 1:12:32I watched it, but yeah, for the first time. It didn't get
- 1:12:35me this time. So yeah, the first time, I think you nailed
- 1:12:38all of them that I would choose. But if you watch us a couple
- 1:12:44more times, like yeah, I think you'll because just like the music hits
- 1:12:49and then like that you're like, so good, dude, Yeah, that's
- 1:12:53just beautiful. Yeah. So there was there was two more that you guys
- 1:12:57didn't say. Okay, one of them was kind of early, but I
- 1:13:00just really liked it, uh, and probably because I knew the end even
- 1:13:04though I'd never seen this, you know, like like it's just kick get
- 1:13:09away from it. But when she says I think that's the first time I've
- 1:13:13ever seen you smile when you mentioned your father, Oh, that line really
- 1:13:16hit me for some reason. I was just like, oh, oh,
- 1:13:18beauty, you know, like that's really cool. And then the is this
- 1:13:24heaven? No, it's Iowa And he's like, huh, I really I
- 1:13:27could have sworn it was heaven or whatever? Does he say I could have
- 1:13:30sworn or I thought it was heaven or something. That one got me too,
- 1:13:33So those are the only other ones otherwise, Yeah, you nailed that.
- 1:13:38And it's a hard one because, like you said, the end is
- 1:13:41there's so many, so many Yeah, a sobfest at the end. I've
- 1:13:47seen this movie so many times. You think I would be like immune to
- 1:13:50it, right, Yeah, Nope, it's like we're Dad's too, and
- 1:13:59just like there's that whole other part of it. I think that's why it
- 1:14:01hits part. Yeah. Well, if you want a three and a half
- 1:14:05year old bigs, just let you know. All right, cool, I'll
- 1:14:11keep on my mind on that. Let's go and do a little movie trivia.
- 1:14:15Now, let's see. After filming was completed, the family that owned
- 1:14:19the farm kept the field and added a small hut with inexpected souvenirs for sale
- 1:14:27up till twenty eighteen. Is what this says. Visitors were free to come
- 1:14:30and come to the field and play baseball, so they please between April and
- 1:14:32November. I don't know if that's still the case. Well, no,
- 1:14:35no, they have the well maybe the spot. I actually don't know that.
- 1:14:41I've been there twice. Okay, so it's the actual spot where they
- 1:14:45do the games. Everything is the same. They updated graz Oh oh you're
- 1:14:48talking about no, so the original those games. I don't know the original
- 1:14:53field still there. They put the MLB field basically in left field. Oh
- 1:14:58cool, Okay, it's like further out in the middle of the where a
- 1:15:00corn used to be. Gotcha. Okay, So but yeah, it fun
- 1:15:04to just go there and see that, even if you didn't go for the
- 1:15:08game. I mean, yeah, you said you've been there twice, mate.
- 1:15:11Yeah. I went with my buddy Todd because both of us love Field
- 1:15:14of Dreams, and then I went with my dad, like a year later,
- 1:15:17my whole family. I want to do. Yeah, it's a cute
- 1:15:21little town and can't be too far from here Diresville. Oh it's uh two
- 1:15:29and a three hours. I think, Oh that's not bad. Yea,
- 1:15:33yeah, I love that. So the Shoeless Joe makes that comment about Ty
- 1:15:40Cobb, and you know, none of us could stand the sun of when
- 1:15:43he was alive, so we told them to stick it in real life.
- 1:15:45Apparently the players were close friends. Later in Jackson's life, when he ran
- 1:15:49a liquor store in South Carolina, Cobb stopped in to buy bourbon during the
- 1:15:55sale. Jackson made no recognition of Cob until Cobb finally said, for God's
- 1:15:59sake, Joe, don't you remember me? And Jackson apparently somberly replied,
- 1:16:03well, sure, I remember you. Ty. I just didn't think anyone
- 1:16:05wanted to remember me anymore. And I thought that was so sad that I
- 1:16:11did not know that. Yeah, but at least he had a friend.
- 1:16:15Uh. Amy Madigan was offered a job as a bartender at a local bar
- 1:16:19during filming. The owner didn't know that she was an actress. I just
- 1:16:23thought that was kind of fun. You want a job. I'm okay.
- 1:16:29I'm in a giant future, so funny. I thought this was really cool.
- 1:16:34After the movie was completed, test audiences didn't like the original film title,
- 1:16:39which was Shoeless Joe Jackson, because they said it sounded like a movie
- 1:16:43about a bum or a hobo. Universal called the director and screenwriter Phil Alden
- 1:16:48Robinson to tell him that tell him that the name didn't work and that the
- 1:16:51studio changed the title of the film to Field of Dreams. But they sort
- 1:16:58of called him, thinking you know, this was gonna bad news, but
- 1:17:00he told them, oh, no problem. Shoeless Joe was the title the
- 1:17:04publishing company gave the book. My original title was dream Field, so this
- 1:17:10is closer to that. So crazy, that funny, what a silly,
- 1:17:15weird like circular story. I love it. If you build it, he
- 1:17:19will come. Was voted number thirty nine on the Film Quotes by the American
- 1:17:25Film Institute, the Top one hundred film quotes. I should say, uh,
- 1:17:30yeah, we said the thing about Leota and all that stuff. Let's
- 1:17:35see. Oh, I thought this was fun. People would give Ray trouble
- 1:17:41about Shoeless Joe was left handed hitter, and they would always bring that up
- 1:17:45to him apparently, and I guess his light comeback was always Yeah. None
- 1:17:48of the other players came back to life either, so there were some differences
- 1:17:51between life and the movie or whatever. Thought that was pretty fun. I
- 1:17:57think we've said this before, but Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are among the
- 1:18:01thousands of extras in the Fenway Park scene and are uncredited, of course.
- 1:18:06And over a decade later, Affleck worked with Robinson on the Sum of All
- 1:18:13Fears, and Affleck apparently said when they met him, when they met,
- 1:18:16nice working with you again, and he was like, what do you mean
- 1:18:18again, and then he explained the connection. I was like, that's probably
- 1:18:21a pretty fun story to hear. Huh, that's fun. Were they drinking
- 1:18:27some duncan? Almost? Yeah, they probably had some beers? No,
- 1:18:32you are? You are? Let's see. I can't remember if I saw
- 1:18:39this earlier or not, but apparently the line drive scene where it comes straight
- 1:18:44back up at Kevin Costner, that just is real and actually happened and he
- 1:18:49falls on the mound and that was all real and he stayed in character,
- 1:18:53so they kept in the movie, which I love. So I think that's
- 1:18:56really fun. Love that we send the thing about that. Oh the so
- 1:19:04the headlights and that last shot, that was a practical thing. It was
- 1:19:10broached during a lunch with the Iowa Chamber of Commerce, and the chamber folks
- 1:19:15replied that if it could be done, and the shooting of the final scene
- 1:19:17or they replied, it could be done, and it became a big community
- 1:19:20event. They got over fifteen hundred people to drive their cars that day,
- 1:19:26and apparently they to simulate motion, they had them like the flicker their brights
- 1:19:32and their lows, you know, the low the dim lights and the brights
- 1:19:36on the headlights. Over and over, so it looked like the cars were
- 1:19:40bouncing or whatever. I thought that was super cool that they actually did it,
- 1:19:44and they blacked out the town behind them and all that stuff. So
- 1:19:47I thought it was really cool. I love that. Yeah. Oh and
- 1:19:51a as part of that scene, it had to be filmed shortly before that.
- 1:19:57It had to be filmed at twilight, you know, for them having
- 1:20:00a catch, and Costner said it was really stressful because he was very worried
- 1:20:04he was going to drop the ball or screw up the shot in some way,
- 1:20:08you know, like flub catching it or whatever, which is really fun.
- 1:20:15Apparently, the line hey Dad, you want to have a catch originally
- 1:20:17didn't include dad. Audiences were disappointed in the lack of acknowledgment of father and
- 1:20:23son, and so the word dad was looped in during post production and it's
- 1:20:28way better with it. So I get that it's crazy though, Yeah,
- 1:20:30that's pretty wild. And then because yeah, hey Dad, he says that
- 1:20:35off camera. Yeah, so they just found a way to sneak it in
- 1:20:40there, I guess, so, which is pretty that's wild. And then
- 1:20:45when Terrence Man decides to go out with the players, quote unquote, he
- 1:20:48says he'll write a story about it called Shoeless Joe Jackson Comes to Iowa,
- 1:20:53And that was the actual title of the W. P. Kinsella short story
- 1:20:59that he later expanded that into the novel Shoeless Joe, on which, of
- 1:21:02course, this film was based. So I just thought that was a nice
- 1:21:04little image. Yeah, but that was all the trivia I had. There
- 1:21:10was so much. I didn't want to go too wild. I had a
- 1:21:13couple more. At first, James Horner was unsure if he could work on
- 1:21:15the film due to scheduling restrictions. Then he watched a rough cut and was
- 1:21:19so moved that he accepted the job of scoring the film. Cool and movie
- 1:21:25history was made. James Horner, he's one of our best. He's incredible.
- 1:21:30Apparently Tom Hanks has originally offered the role of Ray Cancella but turned it
- 1:21:34down. Wow, that's pretty wild. Okay, he could have done it.
- 1:21:41Yeah, he made a different baseball movie later he did. He did.
- 1:21:45Yeah, there's Kevin Costner is more athletic. I think he's a little
- 1:21:50bit more believable as a player. Yeah, well, he he was.
- 1:21:54It was is I mean? For when he filmed For Love of a Game
- 1:21:58for love of the game. He was literally thrown in the mid eighties,
- 1:22:02that's the whole like whole time, and he was pitching more per day than
- 1:22:09any professional player would pitch because he just Especially nowadays, yeah, well yeah,
- 1:22:15these days they're like, oh two Indians, you're done, You're done,
- 1:22:17especially when they're on the twins. Oh uh. The director wanted to
- 1:22:24cast James Stewart as Moonlight Graham, but Stuart had not acted on screen for
- 1:22:29almost a decade. Wow. But one scene shows Karen watching the James Stewart
- 1:22:33movie Harvey on television, So that was all I had, Nate, did
- 1:22:41you have more? Uh? Yeah, a fun little fact about the field
- 1:22:45when the year they filmed that, they were in a massive drought. Oh
- 1:22:49and so they had to like steal water and they had to water like massively
- 1:23:00water the corner on the field just to make it look because everything else is
- 1:23:04like brown, that whole shit. So that was that they literally had no
- 1:23:11horrible timing. So I always thought that was funny because it's like such a
- 1:23:16beautiful, you know background. The corner is in its own right, a
- 1:23:26like actor in the movie, like it is a part of it. Without
- 1:23:30that, I don't think it has its yeah, kind of mystique. You
- 1:23:39covered most of them. I'm trying to think if there's any other fun ones,
- 1:23:44I will say there is. There are so fun little fact there are
- 1:23:48two or there were probably not anymore, but the property line for the field
- 1:23:57actually ran behind the backstop if I remember correctly. Okay, so there are
- 1:24:03two. When I was there, there are two little huts that you can
- 1:24:08go buy. Oh I'm getting balloons from. Yeah, I gotta do the
- 1:24:16update on my phone or on my computer. This is fun. Yeah,
- 1:24:21but there are two merchandise huts and two families ran them, and they're like
- 1:24:27twenty feet apart from each other. The real Hatfield McCoy situation, they're like
- 1:24:31kind of you want chain nothing. Yeah. Well, and because literally the
- 1:24:36like the parking lot where you park is on one family's property and then the
- 1:24:41baseball field. It's like, that's funny. So, yeah, there were
- 1:24:46two two little huts there for a while. I got to check that out.
- 1:24:51It sounds cool. I'm doubting those huts are even there now with the
- 1:24:57mlbst right, probably notrobably just paid them a ton of money. Yeah to
- 1:25:02not worry about it. Yep, I'll have to do. They probably licensed
- 1:25:06the merchandise. The MLB probably owns that. Now I guess, nice,
- 1:25:15well, will there be a sequel judgment day? No, I'm living it.
- 1:25:21I'm living a sequel. Oh, I'm living it. I love it.
- 1:25:26I'm living it. So yeah, game, Do you guys want to
- 1:25:30play a game? Yes? Yes, let's do a starting five. I'm
- 1:25:34gonna name my five favorite actors from a film. When you know the film,
- 1:25:40you ring in with your name. If you get it wrong, no
- 1:25:44negative points, you won't be able to guess again for that movie. And
- 1:25:46if there are actors' names remaining, you can guess those for a point each.
- 1:25:50The other person can steal if any of those names are wrong. And
- 1:25:55all of these films have something in common. When you know the theme,
- 1:25:58you can ring in at any time for a point. Might have something to
- 1:26:00do with Field of Dreams. We're guessing actors names. Uh, I'm gonna
- 1:26:05say actors' names, and then you are gonna need to guess the movie.
- 1:26:09And then if there are more names, you can guess actors names. Yep,
- 1:26:13that's not what you're stepping in, got you all right? Let's start
- 1:26:17number one. The first name Devin Saua. The second name Eric Idle,

- 1:27:11guess he's the dad. That's the dad. Yeah. Yeah, he's in
- 1:27:16Armageddon or not Armageddon. He's in independan. That is the damn it.

- 1:28:00name of ghost and you have two names remaining. Patrick Swayze, Yes,
- 1:28:12he's the swayziest and name remaining. Oh my gosh, it's what's her face?
- 1:28:24She was married Dash and Coutcher. I know Demi Moore or nice.
- 1:28:29Three points for Nate. Good job, Buddy, I'd like to guess the
- 1:28:33theme. Yes, movies with ghosts. It's more specific than that. They
- 1:28:40are not scary ghosts. Oh like, how this movie didn't have scary scary
- 1:28:46ghosts. You know, they're just kind of nice. They're just people.
- 1:28:51Okay, all right? Do I get a plant for then? Or now?
- 1:28:54You do? Yep, yep. But we're not looking for horror movies,
- 1:28:59as I'm saying. Yeah, number three, the first name is Dermott
- 1:29:04mulroney. Oh, I love Dermot. Dermott, that's a tough one to

- 1:29:18it can't be that, damn it. I'm gonna say angels in the outfield.

- 1:30:02did not get. Can you think of another actor that he is not named?
- 1:30:06So far? As Dermot, Mulroney, Matthew McConaughey, Joseph Gordon,
- 1:30:10Levitt and Danny Glover. Oh, I got my number three name has not
- 1:30:14been picked yet, Christopher Lloyd, Christopher Lloyd. Nicely done. Oh I

- 1:30:42went on A Ryder Bukes bugs beetle juice, beetlejuice a ghost though, I
- 1:30:51mean, nope, you're right, You're right, he's not a ghost.
- 1:30:56H oh god uh Gena David Yes. Three names remaining, Catherine O'Hara yes,
- 1:31:05two names remaining, Jeez, Baldwin, I ge't what's alec Alex?

- 1:31:18Sorry, then it's the guy Michael Keaton. Michael Keaton, You've got five
- 1:31:24points on that. Nice done. I did good on that one. That
- 1:31:28was a good one, and now they get harder. Okay, okay,
- 1:31:33number five. The first name is John Heater Header, the dude from Napoleon
- 1:31:41Dynamite. Yeah. The second name, yeah, you know it. Yeah,
- 1:31:47I know this one. I used to watch it all the time.
- 1:31:50Are you are you calling in? Are you ringing in? I can name
- 1:31:54the other characters. I'm trying to remember the name of the movie. That
- 1:31:58can work, I guess. Yeah, Reese Witherspoon. Yes, it's gonna
- 1:32:06be so great, it's gonna be what's his face? Oh my gosh,
- 1:32:19I can literally see his face. He's in He's the whole Yeah. Actually,
- 1:32:26that's the one I knew. I don't remember the name of it either.
- 1:32:30Just like Heaven, you got the name of the title of the movie,
- 1:32:34you got Reese Witherspoon. There's still three name but can he well,
- 1:32:42but can I It's funny because I was literally just talking about him in something
- 1:32:48and my mind's just a blank. It's not This is not a tough one,
- 1:32:53No, and the other two are very tough. Yeah, it might
- 1:33:01be it for me. Three two one Okay, Hughes Well, Mark Ruffalo,
- 1:33:06Yeah, it's not McConaughey, right right, Yeah, and then you
- 1:33:12have one other name, isn't the McDreamy guy. No, I can't remember
- 1:33:16his name, Patrick Dempsey. Yeah I don't. I don't know that I
- 1:33:20ever saw this. Actually, yeah, I remember Ruffalo one time. Yeah,
- 1:33:24I would have only gotten Ruffalo and Witherspoon. The other names were Donald
- 1:33:29log and Ben Shankman. Oh, okay, I know, don't know.
- 1:33:33Nate got two? You got one? Great good chop, buddy, that's
- 1:33:39where are we after five? I've got eleven, Nate's got six. Everybody's
- 1:33:43in it, all right, number six. This one's tough. The first
- 1:33:47name is Keith David, the second name Audrey Hepburn in one of her last
- 1:33:57films, WHOA. Yeah, okay. The third name is John Goodman,
- 1:34:05the fourth name Holly Hunter, and the fifth and final name Richard Dreyfuss.
- 1:34:15Five four three two one yes, bugs. Well, now, like Close
- 1:34:25Encounters of the Third, it's not that right, Yeah, it's not.
- 1:34:29This is one of the few Spielberg movies that nobody ever sees, and it's
- 1:34:34called always And this movie shattered me. I cried so hard in this movie.
- 1:34:42I never heard of it. I feel like, although I'm sure we've
- 1:34:45talked about it. I've definitely brought it up here a few times. But
- 1:34:49yeah, it's a really beautiful movie if you want to see a good one.
- 1:34:54Yeah, I didn't think anybody's gonna get that. Let's go to number
- 1:34:58seven. The first name is is Joe Tippett, who is engaged to Sarah
- 1:35:03burrellis oh, Bukes, Bukes, what's gotta be Spirited? Then it is
- 1:35:11the only thing I know him from nice, although he's been and other stuff
- 1:35:14I know, But wow, who's Joe tipp That was very fast? Wow?
- 1:35:19Four names, Ryan Reynolds, ye, Will Ferrell. Who else is
- 1:35:27in this movie? That's what I'm asking you. You have two names remaining?
- 1:35:30Five? Four? Three? Feeeep? Do you know anybody Nate in
- 1:35:41Spirited? Did you ever see that? Okay? It's uh god, what's
- 1:35:46her name? Octavia Spencer is her name? And then I had also picked
- 1:35:51Tracy Morgan, who's also in it. Oh, yeah, good call.
- 1:35:55It's a fun Christmas movie, Nate, fun for the whole family. It's
- 1:35:59kind of like, uh, you know, Christmas Carol kind of So yeah,
- 1:36:04you got Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds and Spirited. Yep, but I
- 1:36:10didn't remember Octavia. What a jerk and now harder. We're going to animated.
- 1:36:15The last three are animated, so you know, just wait, Nate.
- 1:36:24Number eight. The first name is Ali Wong. The second name is
- 1:36:30Octavia Spencer, the aforementioned Octavia Spencer. The third name is Julia Louis Dreyfus.
- 1:36:43That's not gonna help. The fourth name is Chris Pratt. Could guess
- 1:36:48onward onward, one name remaining, Tom Holland it is two more points.
- 1:36:58Did you not see that one? Nate, Oh May, I haven't seen.
- 1:37:01I've seen one movie since COVID and that was Top Gun and I was
- 1:37:09just talking about this, but I'm not joking Rob. The last movie I
- 1:37:14saw, I think was probably with you wo like in the theater you're talking
- 1:37:18about in the in the theater because after COVID hit. Yeah, I went
- 1:37:25to Top Gun with Abby and my uncle Jerry, and I've like I did
- 1:37:30it was so I just forget. Yeah, I forget. That's like an
- 1:37:34option and I love going to movies. It's just been years that I've like.
- 1:37:40It's we went to Shazam and it broke down and uh, I think
- 1:37:46we were in Georgia. We were making it was so dumb we went there
- 1:37:53and just the I just stopped working and so that and we were like the
- 1:37:57there's like no a c It was like the ace he was broken only two
- 1:38:01in the movie theater and Rob and I walk out and we're like, well
- 1:38:05that was dumb. Is somebody gonna like fix us? Like we'll give you,
- 1:38:10uh, you know, coupons of those in my backpack by the way.
- 1:38:15Those So I had that happen when I was in Bermuda. See,
- 1:38:23oh I remember, lights just went out. It was that's a way worse
- 1:38:29time for that to happen. We were just seeing Shazam. We were very
- 1:38:33popped. Yeah. Didn't we go to like Red Lops or something? Yeah,
- 1:38:39like right, No, it was a Texas roadhouse. Oh that's right,
- 1:38:44Yeah, same thing. Man. My I can't remember what I did
- 1:38:46yesterday, but I can remember we went to the Texas Roadhouse and making Georgia
- 1:38:51after watching Shazam for three minutes. You talk about realizing things as you get
- 1:38:57older, and one of them is our memories just don't work anymore. It's
- 1:39:00just weird. Works very well in things that you don't need to remember at
- 1:39:05all. Yeah, the useless information is easy to recall if it matters.
- 1:39:12No, No, yeah, nope, all right, let's finish this up.
- 1:39:16Guys, we got two more. Sorry, the number nine. The
- 1:39:19first name is Brian Denahey. The second name is Janine Garof the third name
- 1:39:30is Brad Garrett. Oh this is animated too, isn't it? Yep.
- 1:39:40The fourth name is Peter O'Toole, and the fifth and final name is Patton
- 1:39:47Oswalt rat tattoo rat tattooy So the chef gusta. Yeah, that's right.
- 1:39:57That's a tricky one. It's a tricky one. I like you, where
- 1:40:00are we going into the last one? I know, Bukes, you're pretty
- 1:40:03far ahead. I have seventeen made his six, so yeah, good thanks
- 1:40:10then yep, last one, here we go. The first name is Questlove
- 1:40:15Bukes Bukes Soul Soul. Oh. I don't know any of the people,
- 1:40:23though, I bet you know the top two? Yeah, what is his
- 1:40:27name? Though? He played Rey? He did, he sure did.
- 1:40:30He wanted to Achademy Award for it. Yep. I actually don't remember who's
- 1:40:34second builds. Oh, yeah that was Do you know this movie at all?
- 1:40:39John? John Legend? No, he just picked movies that I yeah.
- 1:40:45Do you not have Disney plus by the way, we do. But
- 1:40:48my dumb kid always wants to watch Boaze. I hear that. I do
- 1:40:55hear that. But I have forced my kids to watch like all the old
- 1:40:59Disney movie Well i've as of recent he really likes Aladdin. Cool. But
- 1:41:09yeah, I've started like to not give him the options. Sometimes at night,
- 1:41:14like right after dinner or whatever, I'm like, hey, we're gonna
- 1:41:18watch The Sandlot. Like we start, he just oh wow, he had
- 1:41:24a melt down. He's been having a tough time going to sleep because I
- 1:41:27think he's having nightmares. But he was like melting down, didn't want to
- 1:41:31go to bed. And this happened for like five days straight where it was
- 1:41:34like, oh, sweet Page, I just want to go to sleep,
- 1:41:39and he like wouldn't. And so finally I got him. I was like,
- 1:41:42do you want to come lay downstairs with me in bed and we'll watch
- 1:41:45some TV or something. I was like OK, And I was like,
- 1:41:48but we're gonna want We're gonna watch The Sandlot And he really liked like the
- 1:41:53first like thirty minutes and then it got him like ready for bed. So
- 1:41:56I was like, yes, nice. I can rarely get my kids to
- 1:42:00watch not animated stuff, but yeah, every once in a while. But
- 1:42:05all of these are really good options. Right to tuy word Soul was a
- 1:42:11little intense for my kids, just because like the whole concept of death.
- 1:42:14But second building Soul was Tina Fey. Then I picked Felicia Rashad and Angela
- 1:42:19Bassett. Okay, sorry, I don't remember much about that movie, to
- 1:42:24be honest, I like it. But yeah, I almost picked this Sandlot
- 1:42:28because we did get that Babe Ruth sighting as a ghost kind of Oh yeah,
- 1:42:31good call. I almost did that, but that one seemed a little
- 1:42:34too crazy. Sure, and then some other I had go some girls from
- 1:42:39the past and hearts and souls and sorry, so good, so good,
- 1:42:45I didn't do it. So you're going to tell us how we do our
