- 0:06laced up let's go it's time for banter with the
- 0:11boys welcome back to banter with the boys gridiron
- 0:23updates week four where just about anybody can
- 0:27have a podcast welcome back Rob, my co -host
- 0:31here on Gridiron Updates. Another week. What's
- 0:34up? We're back, baby. Vikings stuck on a nice
- 0:37little win, so it's good vibes around here. To
- 0:39be expected. Yeah, to be expected. Jake, what's
- 0:41going on? Our Ravens fan back for another season.
- 0:43Thanks for having me back, guys. I appreciate
- 0:45it. The other purple. That's right. The better
- 0:47purple. Not last night. Well, not last night.
- 0:50We'll talk about that. Yes. Oh, boy. Oh, boy.
- 0:52Or do we want to? I actually reached out to Jake
- 0:54to let him know we were going to move on from
- 0:56him, but he convinced me. No, I'm just kidding.
- 0:58We're happy to have you back for another season.
- 0:59He's a great addition. Good info. And especially
- 1:01to have a fan of a different team other than
- 1:04the Vikings, you know, if that even exists out
- 1:07here, but whatever. That's fine. Kev behind the
- 1:10camera, of course, getting everything done. He
- 1:12waved. Of course, behind the scenes. Yeah, he's
- 1:14waving. Now he's flicking everybody off. Unbelievable.
- 1:18Let's see. I mean, I guess that's it. Yeah. Let's
- 1:21move. Oh, yeah. The Packers lost this week. Kev,
- 1:23let's move right into our week three game recaps.
- 1:27Recap. So, gentlemen, the first game we're going
- 1:37to talk about here is the Cardinals traveling
- 1:40to the San Francisco 49ers. Low scoring affair,
- 1:45very defensive early on. I mean, yeah, it was
- 1:52super defensive, but overall kind of a bland
- 1:55game. Real back and forth, though, as far as
- 1:57possession. Nobody seemed to want to keep the
- 2:00ball. Yeah, nobody wanted to win. My initial
- 2:03thoughts watching it was like, is this really
- 2:04a defensive battle? Or are we watching two offenses
- 2:08just struggle? I'm going with ladder. Because
- 2:11there were opportunities on both sides for both
- 2:15teams. Like, just put up points, and they literally
- 2:18dropped it. Yes. Marvin Harrison, Jr. Oh, my
- 2:21gosh. That giant drop. That was huge. That was
- 2:25in the second half, wasn't it? Yeah, that was
- 2:26a big one. Can't have that. And I am on fantasy.
- 2:28He came up with a catch later, I believe, later
- 2:31in the game. But still, like, that one. I mean.
- 2:34No excuse. And he knows it. He knows it. But
- 2:37it was nice to see Trey McBlide get a red zone
- 2:44touchdown. Holy crap. So good to see him. Yeah.
- 2:53Put one up finally. James Conner. Rip. That sucks.
- 2:56I mean. Out for the year. Yeah. Didn't look good.
- 2:59Didn't look good at all. Hopefully he can come
- 3:01back from that. I don't think you. I mean, this
- 3:05is kind of rude, but other than him being that
- 3:08big power red zone threat, I mean, Trey Benson
- 3:10came in and did a pretty solid job for him, and
- 3:13curious to see what he'll do in the future weeks.
- 3:16But how big of a loss is James Conner to the
- 3:19Cardinals? Really big loss. He has been the engine
- 3:25of that offense. I mean, Kyler Murray's been
- 3:27all right, but Kyler Murray's been inconsistent.
- 3:31And I don't think Kyler has been developing as
- 3:33a quarterback over the last couple of years,
- 3:35including with the injuries. Like he plateaued
- 3:37pretty much? Yeah. Like this is the best we're
- 3:39going to get? Yeah, I don't think we're going
- 3:40to see anything better out of Kyler Murray. He's
- 3:43looking at his first read maybe a second, and
- 3:46then he's off to the races. Is he one that could
- 3:48use a change of scenery? Like gigantic hypothetical
- 3:51that quite literally just popped into my head.
- 3:53Like a different sport? Dang. Baseball. He's
- 3:57a great baseball player. That's what I'm saying.
- 3:58No, but if Kyler Murray... Lawrence swapped.
- 4:01Would it be the same thing for both players on
- 4:04those same teams? I know I just pulled that out.
- 4:08Don't take too long. You already know the answer.
- 4:10Rob's like, this is stupid. Just move on. They're
- 4:14both fired. They're both fired. All right. Fair
- 4:15enough. Fair enough. On the other side, Mac Jones.
- 4:22Staying alive. I guess doing enough to win. He
- 4:26did a better version of Wentz. Yeah, for sure.
- 4:30I think that had more to do with Kyle Shanahan
- 4:32and the kind of QB whisperer that he is. Get
- 4:37the hell out of here. But that's always going
- 4:41to be the talk with Kyle Shanahan. KLC is on
- 4:43his way as a quarterback whisperer. But yeah,
- 4:48not an amazing day. All the way around for either
- 4:51offense. Christian McCaffrey. What was that?
- 4:54Who hit him? Wilson. Yeah. Just completely popped
- 4:57him. Yes. You don't see that very often. No,
- 5:01not at all. McCaffrey usually makes that guy
- 5:04miss. Yeah. Let's see. We're actually talking
- 5:07about the 49ers in our. next episode aren't we
- 5:10yep in two episodes sorry uh jaguars yeah okay
- 5:13so we won't spend any time on them because we'll
- 5:15talk about them later let's see who do the cardinals
- 5:18have next week they got the seahawks next week
- 5:21i think that's the thursday night game yeah who
- 5:24do you who do you got in that matchup we're not
- 5:25talking about it later so just so uh quick glance
- 5:28my pick list uh hawks over cardinals thursday
- 5:31night hawks over cardinals yeah Yeah. Unless
- 5:34Trey Benson becomes the new Connor, you know,
- 5:37like, I mean that, like you're saying earlier,
- 5:40Connor kind of is like, he almost carries that
- 5:42offense, you know, sets up that least gets Kyler
- 5:45some play action. You have to respect him. Yeah,
- 5:47exactly. You have to respect him. He's got the
- 5:48skill set, both running the ball and out of the
- 5:50backfield. So it'd be interesting to see a second
- 5:53year Trey Benson that they were really high on
- 5:55when they drafted him, seeing him, um, that receiving
- 5:58cord just has to help out a little bit too. I
- 6:01would say, um, Trey McBride is. obviously been
- 6:03a nice connection with murray but i mean he's
- 6:06only averaging about 200 ish passing yards you
- 6:10know you would think out of a elite arm talents
- 6:13like kyler coming out of college they'd be chucking
- 6:16the ball for you know 300 275 a week so um we
- 6:20just we just had a lot of drops we just had a
- 6:22lot of drops from that receiving core that's
- 6:23what i'm saying they need to help a guy out is
- 6:25it is it more is it a mix of the two of yeah
- 6:28they got to catch the ball slash kyler needs
- 6:30to put them in a To catch the ball. I think Marvin
- 6:35Harrison Jr. and Kyler Murray need to play some
- 6:38real -life Madden and stop playing couch Madden.
- 6:43Yes. Get back to what really works. We don't
- 6:48need a 35 -yard route every time. Let's do those
- 6:51quick little sands. I'd really like to see Harrison
- 6:53using his size and his ability. That's how he
- 6:57was in Ohio State, too, run that quick slant
- 7:00and just killing teams. Yeah, they just really
- 7:04need a help out on that side. 49ers, obviously,
- 7:07big injury to both sides without getting too
- 7:10deep into them because we'll get into them later.
- 7:14And we'll see. Brock, maybe he'll be back next
- 7:17week. But 49ers, 3 -0 still right now. So they
- 7:22did enough at home to get the dub on this game.
- 7:25But moving on. Yeah, we'll touch on them later
- 7:27when they play Jacksonville this week back at
- 7:30home in San Francisco. Let's move on to our next
- 7:33game here. Excuse me. The Pittsburgh Steelers
- 7:36traveling to the New England Patriots, getting
- 7:39the win 21 -14 over the Patriots. Man, Patriots
- 7:44had another team, kind of like the Cardinals
- 7:47and the 49ers both. Patriots, another team that
- 7:49had all the opportunities in the world it felt
- 7:52like to really take this game and just never
- 7:54could seize those opportunities. And then taking
- 7:57into consideration how well the Steelers' defense
- 7:59played and the Patriots still had a chance to
- 8:01win it. It was just crazy because, what, five
- 8:04sacks, an interception, four fumble recoveries.
- 8:07They were just all over them, and it still allowed
- 8:10them to stay in the game. Okay. Yeah, for sure.
- 8:13Stevenson's got to hold on to the ball, or otherwise
- 8:15he's not going to be in the NFL much longer.
- 8:17That's a crazy way to start the game. Yeah, if
- 8:19you don't have Travion Henderson, maybe think
- 8:20about picking him up. Yeah, there we go. Oh,
- 8:23Travion Benson, too, on that other side. That's
- 8:25true, because Gibson ended up fumbling, too,
- 8:27didn't he? Yeah. Who was it? Gibson, Stevenson,
- 8:30and May, right? May fumbled one as well? I think
- 8:33May had one, yeah. Just, yeah, unbelievable.
- 8:35I mean, true statement of... Turn over the ball,
- 8:39you're going to lose the game. And giving Aaron
- 8:42Rodgers an opportunity late in the game, just
- 8:44even have a shot at winning the game. You just
- 8:46can't have it. I don't care how old the guy is.
- 8:48You can't give him the opportunity. There was
- 8:51that one fourth down play. Douglas, I think,
- 8:53was a receiver who pretty much juked himself
- 8:57out of a first down. I don't know if you remember
- 8:59seeing that play. That was kind of a crucial
- 9:01play in that game, too. I kind of just caught
- 9:03the highlights of this game. Wait a minute. Is
- 9:04that the? Was that late in the game? Yeah. Go
- 9:08get the first down. Yeah, if it's the play I'm
- 9:11thinking of because he came back to get the ball
- 9:13and then took another step back before he came
- 9:15back. Yeah, so my issue with that is you just
- 9:19got to know where the first down might be. You
- 9:20got to run a deep enough route. That's just like
- 9:24the football IQ. Who am I to tell an NFL player?
- 9:26I'm just saying. You just got to run a deep enough
- 9:29route. You know it's fourth down. You know you
- 9:31have to get a first down. At least be there when
- 9:33you catch the ball. Sure, if you make a shake,
- 9:35whatever, and get more, no problem. At least
- 9:37get the first down. So run a deep enough route.
- 9:40Quarterback put the ball where you were. You
- 9:42got to run a deep enough route. I'd skip the
- 9:44shimmy and the shake and just get the first down
- 9:45there. That was my excuse for that. But even
- 9:47if he didn't, that was borderline at best. Like,
- 9:50you're right at the line going one yard deeper.
- 9:53I know it's all time. Yeah, yeah. But push it.
- 9:55Push it. You got to run a deep enough route.
- 9:57For me, I don't know. Epic failure there for
- 10:00the old Pats. But a learning game. A learning
- 10:03game. A game they could have won. They're kind
- 10:06of on the up and up. Vrabel went for it on that
- 10:08fourth down early in the game and got it. That
- 10:10was gutsy AF. More to come from New England.
- 10:16Their season is nowhere near over by any means
- 10:18who they got next week. And Drake played okay.
- 10:23I mean, they got the Panthers next week, you
- 10:25know what I mean, who put up a 30 -piece, didn't
- 10:28they, on Atlanta? They did, which is really weird,
- 10:31that game. Yeah, I don't know if that's real
- 10:34Carolina or if that's just, like, bad Atlanta.
- 10:37I don't know. Well, they ended up benching Panics
- 10:40at it and putting Corco in at one point. Where
- 10:43was that two weeks ago? I don't even want to
- 10:46talk about that game, dude. That was just tough.
- 10:49But Steelers is who we got next week. Yeah, we'll
- 10:52talk about that. I know, but just kind of looking
- 10:54into what their team was and how they played
- 10:57in this game. They look slow on offense. Warren
- 11:02is about the only one that I feel like I'm kind
- 11:05of scared of. He's just shifty and not afraid
- 11:08of literally anything. I mean, he'll stick his
- 11:10nose in there. As a Ravens fan perspective, seeing
- 11:15Warren twice a year, I think he's very similar
- 11:18to Pacheco, where he doesn't get a lot of yards,
- 11:21but they're quality yards. He's getting the hard
- 11:24ones, and he's got a good burst of energy. He's
- 11:28not a three -down back, or he's not your number
- 11:31one. Or he's not really a game -breaker either.
- 11:34He's not going to get out the outside and be
- 11:36gone, per Paul Allen. Right. You know, Pacheco's
- 11:40been kind of annoying this year. Yep, he has.
- 11:43He's way too side. Like, just put, at some point,
- 11:45put a foot in the ground and just get up field.
- 11:48Go back to running angry. Because as soon as
- 11:50he does that. You think that's an injury? Maybe
- 11:53in his head. Could be. He's fast enough, though,
- 11:56that if he can't put his foot in the ground,
- 11:59get downhill, I mean, he's fast enough to make
- 12:01guys miss after that point. But you've got to
- 12:03explode through the freaking. I agree. I mean,
- 12:05I was watching him again this weekend. It was
- 12:08just tough. Tough to watch him just dance around
- 12:10like, go, bro. You have it. Anyway, sorry. That
- 12:13was a little tangent. We like that when you do
- 12:15that. Anyway. We call that bantering. Bantering.
- 12:18Kev, where are we at for the Steelers in New
- 12:20England? All right, perfect. We're going to move
- 12:21on then. Broncos traveling to L .A. to take on
- 12:25the Chargers. This was a great game. This was
- 12:28a wild game. I'm so disappointed in my Broncos
- 12:31there. Should have won that game. What happened
- 12:34to that defense? They decided to just pack their
- 12:38bags after three quarters. Is that what happened?
- 12:41I mean, that's literally the story, right? You've
- 12:44got to play all four quarters, and the Broncos
- 12:45just didn't do that. And I was taught, some guy
- 12:48was commenting about, as a Broncos fan on, I
- 12:52don't know, X or whatever, back and forth on
- 12:54one of our videos, and he was like, as a Broncos
- 12:56fan, the defense has not lived up to what we
- 12:59expected out of them this year so far. So that
- 13:02was kind of an interesting take from a Broncos
- 13:04fan on that aspect of it. But they had their
- 13:07chances. It was a solid game. Harris out for
- 13:12the year. That's heartbreaking. That's going
- 13:13to be a tough one for them. Hampton's been playing
- 13:15nice, but having some depth always in that run
- 13:18in any position. And a little bit of power. Yeah,
- 13:21he looks pretty solid. He's got a decent start
- 13:24to the year, like he's had. It's never top of
- 13:28the tier, you know what I mean? He's just always
- 13:30consistently there. He had that fumble. Hopefully
- 13:32that's just like, hey, I'm a rookie. I'm still
- 13:34learning the ropes. Get that out of your system.
- 13:37Yeah. But I like it. We're talking about Hampton.
- 13:40Yeah. Yeah. I like his ability in the passing
- 13:43game as well. Very Christian McCaffrey -ish,
- 13:46you know. Ooh, going that level. No, that's crazy,
- 13:50right? That's just crazy. Drinking that secret
- 13:52sauce, I guess. Yeah, I know, I know. Whatever's
- 13:55in here, you know what I mean? But it's just
- 13:58good to see him have that ability. Early on,
- 14:02especially now that he's probably going to get
- 14:04that bigger role with Najee Harris out. Yeah,
- 14:06yeah. His snaps went up 10%, I think. And they're
- 14:09going to probably go up again next week. Well,
- 14:11they're still going to spell him somewhat, yeah.
- 14:13Yeah, but they're probably – I mean, he still
- 14:16ended up with 19 carries. Yeah, what do you want
- 14:18him, 35 carries? No, absolutely not. Absolutely
- 14:21not. That's probably right. Where he needs to
- 14:22be is 19 right there. But you know what? I'm
- 14:25going to give out some – some respect to whole
- 14:27keen allen just killing it still and he's killing
- 14:31mcconkley whoever drafted him in fantasy football
- 14:34i am sorry i did kind of see this coming stealing
- 14:37all his catches and all the red zone opportunities
- 14:39um i'm sure he is a red zone beast i'm sure herbert
- 14:43uh was glad to see oh for sure he was allen come
- 14:46back Yeah, speaking of Herbert, up over 300 yards.
- 14:50I mean, he took five sacks, but, I mean, he stood
- 14:52in the pocket all game. The play that you're
- 14:56talking about to Keenan Allen at the end, I mean,
- 14:58to be able to keep that play alive, to be able
- 15:01to get enough power on that throw while pretty
- 15:03much having no footing. Going to his left and
- 15:06through that 35 -yard roll. Dime. I know. Yes,
- 15:10it was behind him a little bit. Like, Keenan
- 15:12Allen had to adjust, but Keenan Allen's a pro,
- 15:14so, you know. Him getting out of the pocket to
- 15:16even have an opportunity. to make that throw,
- 15:18not many people on this earth could do that.
- 15:23No, so super exciting to see as the Chargers
- 15:28fan here on the pod, but who do they got next
- 15:31week? I don't even know. Good thing I'm a fan,
- 15:33right? Hardcore fans. At the Giants, that's a
- 15:36win. I'm not even worried about that. Jackson
- 15:39Dart's getting a start, by the way. Is it official?
- 15:41It is official. I think it's a mistake, but...
- 15:44I mean, against the Chargers, I wouldn't, but...
- 15:46who's coming in flying high right now and leading
- 15:49the division. Let's see. Broncos going to the
- 15:53Bengals. That's an interesting game that I would
- 15:55expect the Broncos to win at this point. And
- 15:58it's not even because of what the Bengals did
- 16:00this week. It's just more of... you're Joe Burrow
- 16:03-less, you know what I mean? And it's nothing
- 16:05against Jake Browning. I think he's fully capable
- 16:07of, like, winning football games. It's just you're
- 16:09not Joe Burrow. And that offense just thrives
- 16:12with a Joe Burrow with those two high -flying
- 16:14receivers, you know. Somebody who's going to
- 16:15take the chances to put it where it needs to
- 16:17be. I don't know. Whatever. Well, that was a
- 16:20big win for the Chargers, I guess, for the division.
- 16:23Division win. Division win. All division wins.
- 16:26Yep. 2 -0. 2 -0. I don't think anybody would
- 16:30have picked them to beat the Chiefs either to
- 16:35open the season. Yep. So, you know, that's a
- 16:38little bit of a surprise to the league. But,
- 16:40again, for week one, that's not going to make
- 16:43or break you come playoffs, right? No, just great
- 16:47to see. Yeah, really exciting, actually, that
- 16:49they're 3 -0. Denver will be just fine. Not too
- 16:53worried about them being able to bounce back
- 16:55yet. But that defense does need to come alive.
- 16:57Let's move on, though. What do we got? Oh, the
- 17:02whole reason why Jake's here. The entire reason
- 17:04why Jake's here. The Lions. It's not the whole
- 17:07reason. The whole reason. The only reason. Lions
- 17:10getting the win 38 -30 over the Ravens in Baltimore.
- 17:14Yes, we got to do this. I got notes on notes.
- 17:17Notes on notes. Let's hear it. Let's hear it.
- 17:19Let them go. First of all, I just want to say
- 17:24I appreciate Derek Henry apologizing for the
- 17:26fumble. Three fumbles in three games. Two of
- 17:29them lost. A lot of apologies. Yeah. You have
- 17:31two fumbles last night? No, just the one. It
- 17:34was costly. Six minutes left. Hats off to Hutchinson.
- 17:40That was a great play by him. Over -pursued,
- 17:42coming back and punching it out. The Ravens got
- 17:48away from their identity. They were struggling
- 17:51with running the ball. They were still being
- 17:53successful enough with it in the first quarter.
- 17:56As soon as they got stopped at the goal line,
- 18:00They had four downs to get a yard for that touchdown,
- 18:03and they just stalled out. I think they just
- 18:06were done running the ball, and they just got
- 18:09away from their identity. Then they felt like
- 18:11they had to play catch -up a little bit with
- 18:12the Lions and play their style of game. The offensive
- 18:17and defensive line for the Lions was stellar.
- 18:20The offensive line just pushing the Ravens back.
- 18:25That defensive line of theirs attacking Lamar.
- 18:29And really with Lamar or the Ravens playing from
- 18:32behind, essentially they were doing a shell.
- 18:34They were rushing four. keeping seven back in
- 18:38a shell for it. And then they're like, if you
- 18:40run, we're going to come and get you or you're
- 18:42going to dance around. It takes, they'd have
- 18:44a spy on him too. And they made him, I always
- 18:47felt like a lot of times they made him step up
- 18:49in the pocket and rush. If he was going to go,
- 18:51he was going to go forward there versus get out
- 18:54and extend the play longer. And they just can,
- 18:57you know, slowly collapse that pocket and force
- 18:59him up and he'd get a yard or two, you know,
- 19:02but he didn't have any, you know, game breaking
- 19:04plays. So I give the Lions credit on there. I
- 19:08think a lot of teams are going to look at that
- 19:10tape. I don't know if a lot of teams have the
- 19:12skill set that the Lions have to play against
- 19:15Lamar like that, but a lot of people are going
- 19:18to look at that aspect of it. But it was a good
- 19:21game. You know, the Lions offense felt way more
- 19:25efficient than I expected it to be. You know
- 19:27what I mean? I had a little bit of concerns coming
- 19:29into this season, the new O .C., if they can
- 19:31continue to be who they are. Yeah, that brain
- 19:33drain. Yeah. Man, they really got the dudes to
- 19:37do it. I mean, obviously Montgomery had a day,
- 19:39but Jameer Gibbs, as we like to call him here
- 19:42on the show, is just a freaking cheat code. Amon
- 19:45Ross St. Brown, obviously a big -time player.
- 19:46So, I mean, they got many more. Sam Laporte,
- 19:48Jameson Williams. I mean, keep going. You know
- 19:50what I mean? So, it's... They came out and played
- 19:53very efficient. I really thought the Ravens were
- 19:55going to be able to out -duel them this game.
- 19:57That's why I picked them. But that fourth quarter
- 20:00was just something else. It was just something
- 20:02else for Detroit and obviously the big fumble
- 20:03for Henry. I just can't have it. It was nice
- 20:06to see Mark Andrews come back alive a little
- 20:09bit. That's what I've been kind of calling for.
- 20:11I wanted to see that. I found a stat line where
- 20:15Mark Andrews' first two games for every season.
- 20:20Only twice has he eclipsed more than 100 yards
- 20:22in his first two. Slow starter. Yeah, in the
- 20:26first two games combined. So slow starts natural,
- 20:28and then it just picks up. That's what he's banking
- 20:31on over there in the other purple. That's right.
- 20:34Good to know. Good to know, Rashad Bateman. Yeah,
- 20:37I think two weeks ago was really woke up the
- 20:39Lions. The one they played. The Bears. Two weeks
- 20:44ago. I think that woke up their offense. They've
- 20:47just been rolling since. Last week? Two weeks
- 20:51ago. It's all a blur. The Lions offense looked
- 20:55like they were clicking. I feel like their offensive
- 20:58line played a lot better versus week one against
- 21:01the Packers. Ravens now 1 -2. Two losses against
- 21:08probably two AFC -NFC champions. ship contenders
- 21:13yep the you know the first six games the first
- 21:16six games out of the gates for baltimore arguably
- 21:19one of the one of the toughest to begin the schedule
- 21:22the chiefs is really is up there too and the
- 21:24two face off this week we'll talk about that
- 21:26yeah uh and then texans rams yeah there are no
- 21:30slashes yeah caleb williams just threw for four
- 21:33tuds so or something whatever i'm i wouldn't
- 21:36be surprised if they go one in three out of the
- 21:40first four weeks or Or two and four, but we're
- 21:44not going to be freaking out or losing our minds
- 21:48and thinking it's over that they're out of it
- 21:49because it's the AFC North and it's always competitive.
- 21:55Would that be a hot take? The Ravens don't make
- 21:57the playoffs this year? That'd be a crazy hot
- 21:59take. I don't think that's going to happen. I
- 22:01don't think so either. I don't think so either,
- 22:03but you go one and three, somebody gets hurt,
- 22:07Lamar tweaks an ankle. Who's the backup in Baltimore?
- 22:17Exactly. It's not Huntley. I can't remember off
- 22:22the top of my head. It's not good. It's not looking
- 22:24good. Stanley, I think the left tackle got worked
- 22:29a little bit. I think the line didn't play that
- 22:32great. The whole offensive line didn't play well
- 22:33at all. And maybe they'll have a coming -to -Jesus
- 22:37moment and be like, yeah, we got to do better.
- 22:40But like you said, they got away from the run,
- 22:41and that sets up the pass, and that RPO for Lamar
- 22:44to succeed. And like you said, they got away
- 22:46from it. So they need to stick with it, and I
- 22:49think they'll be fine, even though they play
- 22:52the Chiefs next week. We'll talk about that.
- 22:55We'll talk about it. Don't worry. We'll tease
- 22:57her. Let's head into our final game. The whole
- 23:00reason why everybody's here. Vikings getting
- 23:02the win at home against the Bengals. 48 -10.
- 23:0648 -10. The Vikings kept pouring it on. But really,
- 23:10I mean, the story of the game's got to be. It's
- 23:14got to be. What does it got to be? It's got to
- 23:18be Rodgers. It's got to be Rodgers. I mean, he's
- 23:20going to be the perfect PFF grade. Absolutely
- 23:23great. A couple of tutties, two different ways.
- 23:28What else did he do? Oh, he even had a couple
- 23:30of good pass defensives. I think it was on Higgins
- 23:33in the corner of the end zone on one play. What
- 23:35else did he do? Perfect examples of the peanut
- 23:37punch. I mean, just unbelievable. Two forced
- 23:40fumbles. That's what it was. He had another forced
- 23:42fumble. Yeah, I mean, it was one of those things
- 23:45where everything just went right for the Vikings.
- 23:47They had the first nice drive, went down and
- 23:50scored. Then you had the Rodgers. I think we
- 23:54punted. And then the Rodgers picked six, got
- 23:58us up 14 -0. And then after that, Bengals couldn't
- 24:04hold on to the ball. After that, the route was
- 24:05on. No, they both punted, and then the interception
- 24:09came. But, yeah, that put us up. Punch, punch,
- 24:12pick. And then we're up by 31 -and -a -half.
- 24:15Yeah, they turned the ball over three out of
- 24:20the... Three out of four plays. Next four plays.
- 24:23Wow. Three out of the next four plays. Thanks,
- 24:25buddy. You got it. Way to be there for me. Three
- 24:28out of the next four plays. That's crazy. That's
- 24:30rare. Plays, not drives. Plays. Which then made
- 24:34it a lot easier for Carson Wentz to come out
- 24:36there and just play easy. Got to be super efficient.
- 24:40Didn't have to push the ball downfield at all.
- 24:43And the Bengals defense, I was just rewatching
- 24:46like call 22 a little bit last night. They play
- 24:49a pretty. basic lame defense they bring a little
- 24:53pressure but they just sit in the nickel two
- 24:56two safeties high i don't know if it's just because
- 24:58they're playing against the vikings and jefferson
- 25:00but it was not very disguising not a lot of movement
- 25:04not a thread um christian derisaw shut down oh
- 25:07my gosh he did shut down yeah yeah maybe the
- 25:11bangles get their money back To have Harrison
- 25:13Smith back, too. Oh, yeah. You know, he didn't
- 25:16get mentioned a ton because people weren't, you
- 25:19know, not taking that chance at him. You know
- 25:21what I mean? He had the one tip, I believe. For
- 25:23the first pick. Oh, yeah, that's what it was.
- 25:26Started off from Harrison Smith. I mean, just
- 25:28be able to have that defensive quarterback, if
- 25:31you will, back there. And somebody with just
- 25:33loads of experience. Got to be huge to have him
- 25:36back, of course. He's my boy. With the Harrison
- 25:39jersey on today. And then, yeah, Jordan Mason
- 25:42getting the job done. Excellent game. Really
- 25:45good. Really nice. Yeah. Unfortunately, we knew
- 25:48exactly who he was before he even came in the
- 25:51door from last season. Did he go over 200 on
- 25:54the Vikings last year? No. On the 49ers? No.
- 25:57It was a lot. It was a lot. He shredded us, though.
- 25:59I mean, it was like at least two plus touchdowns.
- 26:01But it's weird. Now that he's on the Vikings,
- 26:03he looks littler. Yeah, of course, right? Of
- 26:06course, right. I felt like when he was like King
- 26:08Henry size, and then I get him on the Vikings,
- 26:10he's like, oh, yeah. He looks like Cam Akers'
- 26:12size. And with Aaron Jones going to IR, Cam Akers
- 26:15is back. Yes. And had five carries himself. So
- 26:18welcome back for, like, the fourth time or third
- 26:21time. Pretty much every year KOC's been here,
- 26:23Cam Akers gets signed at some point in the season.
- 26:26And Hawkinson had a nice little game, too. It
- 26:29was like his. He had a tutty. I think that's
- 26:32his first touchdown in a while. Oh, it's got
- 26:36to be. Yeah, yeah, for sure. It's like 16 games,
- 26:38I think they said, or something like that. Yeah,
- 26:39so he had a bunch of catches, had a bunch of
- 26:42key first downs, even though we didn't really
- 26:45need them. But it just kept the game going, and
- 26:48we just kept scoring off of it. I had a note.
- 26:50Let's see if I can find it. But I'm pretty sure
- 26:52this was the biggest deficit the Bengals franchise
- 26:56has ever faced. Thank you. We're in the record
- 26:59books, baby. I'm pretty sure. Let me see. Biggest
- 27:02deficit in franchise history. Yeah. You're welcome.
- 27:05Yeah. Yeah. Bengals have also never won in Minnesota.
- 27:09Ravens can't even do that to the Bengals. Dang.
- 27:12You guys are going to play them twice. Yeah.
- 27:15Can't even do it. We just play them once every
- 27:17four years. Bam. I played them two years ago.
- 27:20Oh, did you? Yeah, you guys lost in overtime.
- 27:22I don't want to do that. Oh, I know. 30 to 27,
- 27:25if I remember. Yeah, they came back. Yeah. Jake
- 27:26Browning let them. Whoops. All right. We're done.
- 27:28Yep. Carry on. Let's just talk about his wife.
- 27:31And that's when the comments came out that, oh,
- 27:33yeah, I made him feel sorry for getting rid of
- 27:37me or whatever the hell. You know what I mean?
- 27:38Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Anyway, Jake. Thanks for
- 27:41being here, man. Thanks for having me. I think
- 27:45it went okay. It went well. It's fine. We'll
- 27:47bring you back next week. I might be back. Think
- 27:50about it. Think about it. Rob, of course, obviously,
- 27:53thanks for being here, as always. Thank you.
- 27:55You came straight from wherever you were and
- 27:57literally went to the store. Cross -country,
- 27:59baby. To make sure you had Vikings merch. Yeah,
- 28:02yeah. And this vintage old school. Yeah, it's
- 28:04nice. I like it. I like it. Obviously, Kev here
