- 0:01SPEAKER_01: I read it was a post from uh I assume a listener, something that came across my feed.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: Don't know this person, but I'm gonna read it for you again and then read your text messages because they're coming in.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: They said, ha ha god, I hate these stupid blank yeah, I hate these stupid blanking dress days.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Because why is my kid having a full meltdown?
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: We don't have anything for her to dress like a celebrity on a random Tuesday in October.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: They do stuff like this every week.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: It isn't fun, it's annoying and stressful.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Now, I am a super I love to dress up kind of person, but Scott, I think brought up uh the great point of I've got another uh a lot of other things to balance.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: This is just adding one more thing to my plate.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there are planned times.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: There's a spirit week, there's Halloween.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Um, even for the schools that did dress up like Dolly on 925, um, you got a little bit of fair warning, and and that's pretty easy to pull together.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Most girls have pink.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Most girls.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So really if you can find a hat and and you know, whatever, you're you're Dolly.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: And then the boys or a t-shirt.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: The boys are supposed to wear a polyester suit.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Like, the boys don't I don't even think the you know what?
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Come to think of it, if it was dressed like Dolly Day, I don't know what the boys did for Lydia's school.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: If they did or just kept it normal.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Let me read some of the text messages.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: 8472 says most teachers don't like PJ days because kids come to school in PJs that smell like urine or other not great smells.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: I will say this.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: It would be the smarter move on the parents' side to put clean PJs on them.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: This isn't just I fell out of bed.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's a different day.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I felt that's in high school.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: I fell out of bed and made it.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Believe me, because I got my stinky sweats.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: My stinky sweats aren't the ones that go to Walmart or Wegmans with me on a Saturday.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: I can promise.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: I at least get some some clean smelling joggers on.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: I can promise you, because I know that, you know, obviously Tiffany's at the house right now.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: And if today was Wear Your PJ's day, even if Lydia had a shower last night, which she did, but even with that, she'd be like, nope, we're gonna put on fresh ones for you to wear.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: It's it's more of a be comfortable date, not a I'm disheveled day.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: But it is easy, right?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: So this one I gotta move back to the parents and be like, come on.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, don't don't put in the stinky sweats on.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Because I do understand a lot of some teachers try to do it to keep it fun for the kids.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Just you gotta realize too many is a mental load for the parents.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: That's what it is.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Where's the balance here?
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Then 1132, they do a spirit week at my kids' daycare.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: That's way too early to start this stuff.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Then this one, Spirit Week for Homecoming.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Today for the fourth grade is Western Wear Day.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Okay, so at least.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Well, around here, that's every day.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: And and you you guys got a little notice for it, right?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Now I saw your uh I saw your 10-year-old in flannel too, so don't feel bad.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: But they said it does suck.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: I had to find an outfit and a hat at 9.45 last night.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: I feel bad if these kids can't participate.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: That's what it comes down to.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: That's what it is.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: You're as the parent, you go.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Well, see, here's the thing.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: This whoever comes up with the let's do this, they're going, Well, I'm giving notice.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Well, the problem with it is you giving me notice, I still have a normal life.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I have a full-time job.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: I have, I'm using I, but I'm saying I in the sense of people.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: You have sports.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: You have to go to sports, you have to go to the grocery store, you might have a doctor's appointment, you have this going on, you're trying to make meals, do laundry, your slob of a husband doesn't help in any way, shape, or form.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: It's the twin tiers.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: We know, we've heard it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Wait.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: So now all of a sudden it is nine o'clock at night the night before, and you're trying to put it together.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: You know, it's just real life, people.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: You know what it also is?
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: It's the monetary thing.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: And not all families can afford this.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: So, what I think that they should do is the thing that you'd mentioned earlier, stick with colors.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Every kid probably has a blue shirt, an orange shirt, a blah, blah, blah, and probably a sports team something.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: And I will say it again if it's PJ Day, fresh ones before they go to school do better.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Please.
