Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
• 0:03
Speaker 2: I don't want to buy just the absolute primo system
• 0:06
Speaker 2: out today. That usually wastes money. So I'll be doing
• 0:08
Speaker 2: some digital photography, maybe some video editing. Don't do any
• 0:12
Speaker 2: gaming at all, so I don't have that demand on
• 0:14
Speaker 2: the computer. It's wondering what you guys would suggest, either
• 0:16
Speaker 2: in brands or just in general speed. And where do
• 0:19
Speaker 2: you go to get the maximum bang for the buck
• 0:21
  Speaker 2: right now?
• 0:22
Speaker 1: Sounds like you want to max. Welcome to another episode
• 0:30
Speaker 1: of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor.
• 0:32
Speaker 3: Bye, I'm Sean de Weird, I'm Matt Jones, Dan, I'm slick.
• 0:37
Speaker 1: And Justin is out today, something about going to the mountains.
• 0:41
Speaker 1: You went camping or something like that.
• 0:43
Speaker 3: He went camping, And so far, every picture that I've
• 0:46
Speaker 3: seen of Eric has has not shown a please face
• 0:48
Speaker 3: to be out camping. Almongst the great outdoors.
• 0:52
Speaker 1: You know, it's hard to convince kids with all the
• 0:55
Speaker 1: technology we have today that being out in the outgrade
• 0:57
Speaker 1: outdoors is a fun thing to do.
• 0:59
Speaker 4: Look a stick, Look it's another stick.
• 1:05
Speaker 5: Hey, I really enjoy camping, so I take offense.
• 1:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, and now have you taken the kids out camping, though,
• 1:11
Speaker 1: Do they appreciate the.
• 1:12
Speaker 5: Experience as much as they can? For me three and
• 1:15
Speaker 5: six months old, Oh yeah, so we took So I
• 1:21
Speaker 5: grew up camping, right. My mom was camping when she's
• 1:23
Speaker 5: praying with me. I've been camping my entire life. So
• 1:26
Speaker 5: we went camping. When Cad was pregnant with Max, we
• 1:29
Speaker 5: went camping. So like three weeks after Max was born,
• 1:34
Speaker 5: two weeks after, Daniel's like, we've been camping. We camp
• 1:37
  Speaker 5: all the time.
• 1:39
Speaker 1: You're not how many times have you been camping?
• 1:41
Speaker 4: Like I'm gonna say, I think honestly that that can
• 1:44
Speaker 4: qualify as camping too. One is early teens in Albuquerque
• 1:49
Speaker 4: near the Rio Grande boy Scouts and then once uh,
• 1:54
Speaker 4: some crew we went from power fourteen fifty we went
• 1:56
Speaker 4: up to I want to say Mount Lemon, I don't.
• 1:58
Speaker 4: We went up to one in our mount here whatever,
• 2:01
Speaker 4: whatever one we got.
• 2:02
Speaker 1: It's like a radio promotion for no.
• 2:04
Speaker 4: We're just one weekend, you know, somebody did their last
• 2:07
Speaker 4: their last shift of the afternoon and we were hanging
• 2:10
Speaker 4: around somebody's house, uh, and we were like, hey, you know,
• 2:14
Speaker 4: and even our wives and a girlfriends are there. This
• 2:17
Speaker 4: was amazing. We pulled this off. You know what, let's
• 2:20
Speaker 4: just go camping and we took off.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: Wow, let us Really they thought you were never coming back. Yeah.
• 2:26
Speaker 4: I do have a question for Sean, serious question. So
• 2:29
Speaker 4: when you go camping being a tech guy, you know,
• 2:31
Speaker 4: I do envy anyone that could go camping. I do
• 2:33
Speaker 4: envy because that's I mean, that's literally living off the land.
• 2:36
  Speaker 4: I really do. I wish I could do it. I
• 2:37
Speaker 4: wish I knew. I wish I knew how to do it.
• 2:39
Speaker 4: I wish I had the skills. But when you do
• 2:41
Speaker 4: go camping, what tech are you taking with you?
• 2:44
Speaker 5: So we've talked about this on the shelf, right, So
• 2:46
Speaker 5: I've done a variety of camping, right, I've done ted camping,
• 2:50
Speaker 5: I've done camper camping, I've done our V motor home camping.
• 2:54
Speaker 5: I've done I've done all the gamut. Right, But in
• 2:57
Speaker 5: terms of tech, right, it just pens. It depends on
• 2:58
Speaker 5: what I'm doing, where I'm going, how much you can carry,
• 3:01
Speaker 5: how much you want to take with you. If we're
• 3:03
Speaker 5: going right now, if I were to pack up my camper,
• 3:06
Speaker 5: the technology I would take with me would be I
• 3:08
Speaker 5: have my camera bank with my two dieselars, in it
• 3:10
Speaker 5: because I want to. If I'm going camping, I'm probably
• 3:13
Speaker 5: gonna be shooting some nighttime stuff. I'm taking, you know,
• 3:15
Speaker 5: my power inverter so I can be powered and plug
• 3:18
Speaker 5: into the solar and charge it. I don't have a drone,
• 3:20
Speaker 5: so I'm not taking one of those. And then I
• 3:22
Speaker 5: had done this when we went traveling out west, just
• 3:25
Speaker 5: in case the weather got bad and we were stuck inside.
• 3:28
Speaker 5: I built my own mobile flex server on a Raspberry
• 3:31
Speaker 5: Pie and a two terabyte hard drive with a tp
• 3:35
  Speaker 5: link mini AP so it's a single It's literally a
• 3:40
Speaker 5: two inch by two inch q that it's the ext
• 3:42
Speaker 5: point with one E threat point in it. So I
• 3:43
Speaker 5: turn it on, plug in the pie boom flex server
• 3:46
Speaker 5: on the goal bad, it all runs off. It all
• 3:48
  Speaker 5: runs off twelve.
• 3:49
Speaker 1: So you get on the great outdoors and you watch content.
• 3:52
Speaker 5: Hey, I will say when we when we went up
• 3:55
Speaker 5: to the up the Upperts Liver for those you don't
• 3:57
Speaker 5: live the Michigan then is a Michigan and it rained
• 3:59
Speaker 5: for like a data half and Max were stuck inside
• 4:02
Speaker 5: and wanted to watch Lightning McQueen on YouTube because it's
• 4:04
Speaker 5: pretty wants to watch right now? Yeah, I was able
• 4:06
Speaker 5: to rip some of those videos from YouTube futrom my
• 4:10
  Speaker 5: plex server.
• 4:11
  Speaker 1: Perfect. Yeah.
• 4:12
Speaker 5: So then I just pull out the iPad, connect to
• 4:14
Speaker 5: the wire, the TP link, and I've got access to
• 4:18
Speaker 5: all those videos that I've put on there for him
• 4:20
  Speaker 5: to watch.
• 4:20
Speaker 1: Oh that's cool. It keeps them entertained, so at least, yeah,
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: in that situation.
• 4:24
Speaker 5: So so, yeah, so I take a lot of photography
• 4:27
Speaker 5: tech with me. Right, I'm still pretty heavily into analog
• 4:30
Speaker 5: film shooting, so I had I took I take my
• 4:32
Speaker 5: Minolta X seven hundred with me. I have my Polaroid camera.
• 4:36
Speaker 5: I've got probably like seven cameras that I take with me.
• 4:39
Speaker 4: Right, so you're still doing you're still developing film.
• 4:43
Speaker 5: I ship it off to Indie Film Labs, which is
• 4:46
Speaker 5: about ten to twelve dollars per role, depending on the
• 4:49
Speaker 5: type of film you send them.
• 4:50
Speaker 1: But it has a real different looks Like, well, a
• 4:53
Speaker 1: couple a few weeks ago, we took a look at
• 4:56
Speaker 1: some of the photos that Sean had taken and it
• 4:58
Speaker 1: just actually, these are photos you had developed that were
• 5:02
Speaker 1: what twenty years old?
• 5:03
Speaker 5: I mean yeah, so there were So I shot a
• 5:06
Speaker 5: whole two new roles of film that were probably the
• 5:09
Speaker 5: roles of film were probably twenty years old. But then
• 5:12
Speaker 5: I also had a disposable film camera that had pictures
• 5:15
Speaker 5: on it from I don't even know when, Yeah, and
• 5:17
Speaker 5: I just shipped that in and they developed it, and
• 5:19
Speaker 5: that one had been the film had had some degradation.
• 5:23
Speaker 5: I don't know if it was mold or whatever, but
• 5:25
Speaker 5: they didn't come back looking super great. But the stuff
• 5:28
Speaker 5: I shot on my I'm Minolta, the two roles looked
• 5:32
Speaker 5: really good and I got some, like some of my
• 5:34
Speaker 5: favorite pictures from that trip around that from that camera
• 5:36
  Speaker 5: versus my DSLR.
• 5:37
Speaker 1: You know, it's funny if you think about it, though, Sean,
• 5:41
Speaker 1: with the pictures that we take with film, it's a
• 5:45
Speaker 1: different look. You know, now you look at it. AI
• 5:47
Speaker 1: is going to be able to take that and you
• 5:49
Speaker 1: could tell it. You can have AI apply a filter
• 5:52
Speaker 1: that would say a code chrome look, or you know,
• 5:55
Speaker 1: an early film look.
• 5:57
Speaker 5: I have a philosophy in my photography that I do.
• 6:01
Speaker 5: I don't shoot to edit and post there you go, right.
• 6:04
Speaker 5: I shoot to post, like if I were to put
• 6:06
Speaker 5: it on the internet, like say shoot the post, I
• 6:08
Speaker 5: take a picture. I do very minimal editing, right, I
• 6:12
Speaker 5: shoot in raw on my DSLR. So yeah, okay, the
• 6:16
Speaker 5: raw images look pretty flat, right, They're meant to be
• 6:18
Speaker 5: enhanced by bringing out the contrast, the highs the lows,
• 6:22
Speaker 5: a little bit of trauma, you know. But I don't
• 6:25
Speaker 5: do any other post editing. I have never gotten into it.
• 6:28
Speaker 5: I'm not good at it because I've never spent the
• 6:30
Speaker 5: time to do it, because that takes away the value
• 6:33
Speaker 5: of the arts. To me, AI is taking the human
• 6:37
Speaker 5: experience out of being a human being. That's my philosophy
• 6:40
Speaker 5: on AI. There are benefits to AI, but that is
• 6:43
Speaker 5: to me, the biggest downfall of this is that the
• 6:46
Speaker 5: human experience needs to create things. We need to create things.
• 6:50
Speaker 5: We need to do things that take our mind and
• 6:52
Speaker 5: put emotion to them and put them on a medium. Drawings, photography, art, music,
• 6:57
Speaker 5: et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. If you start taking
• 6:59
Speaker 5: that away from people, I don't know what that's going
• 7:01
Speaker 5: to do. AI hasn't been around for a whole, you know,
• 7:03
Speaker 5: a whole long time. But other things that have taken
• 7:06
Speaker 5: away creativity people have you seen terrible things happen?
• 7:10
Speaker 1: And I agree with you, Sean, but you look at
• 7:12
Speaker 1: how technology has progressed when we were shooting film and
• 7:17
Speaker 1: you would get it processed and there was an excitement about,
• 7:20
Speaker 1: you know, opening up and seeing the photos. And then
• 7:22
Speaker 1: photoshop comes along or corral even you could do things
• 7:26
Speaker 1: with it, you could manipulate and then walk them comes
• 7:28
Speaker 1: out with these great tablets to make it easier. And
• 7:31
Speaker 1: now we're at the stage where, yeah, we've done a
• 7:34
Speaker 1: lot with that, and there's some great photoshop artists that
• 7:36
Speaker 1: are out there that have taken photos that they've shot
• 7:39
Speaker 1: and enhanced them incredibly using light room and photoshop. But
• 7:44
Speaker 1: now we have AI doing it for us.
• 7:47
Speaker 5: And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the
• 7:49
Speaker 5: digital art isn't the thing. Digital art is very much
• 7:52
Speaker 5: a thing, right. You see in tons of video games.
• 7:54
Speaker 5: There are a lot of great video game art, video
• 7:56
Speaker 5: game artists and digital artists that have created beautiful and
• 7:58
Speaker 5: engaging and just amazing content. AI is still taking out
• 8:02
Speaker 5: the human experience, right.
• 8:04
Speaker 3: I'm entirely with Sean on this one. One of the
• 8:06
Speaker 3: great quotes that I saw the other day was AI
• 8:09
Speaker 3: was supposed to make my work and job easier so
• 8:13
Speaker 3: I could focus on my art and craft, not take
• 8:17
Speaker 3: my art and craft out of my hands, so I
• 8:20
Speaker 3: could only focus on my job.
• 8:21
Speaker 5: That's a great quote. Send me that quote wherever you
• 8:24
Speaker 5: found it from, said it to me, because whoever wrote
• 8:25
Speaker 5: that quote, I want to meet them in person.
• 8:26
Speaker 4: I want to copy that too.
• 8:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it really does. Like you know, in my
• 8:32
Speaker 3: last job, you know, we had AI starting to roll
• 8:34
Speaker 3: out on you know, any any vendor software. They were like, well,
• 8:38
Speaker 3: with our new you know, Charlotte AI component, it was
• 8:41
Speaker 3: you know, I could just be like, hey, do this
• 8:43
Speaker 3: and that and put these guys in these groups and
• 8:46
Speaker 3: let me know what it's all done. And that ask
• 8:48
Speaker 3: might have taken me, you know, half an hour normally
• 8:51
Speaker 3: I asked it to do it, and it's just like
• 8:52
Speaker 3: bit back, all right, I'm done. That's what AI was
• 8:55
Speaker 3: supposed to be for. It was supposed to be like, hey,
• 8:57
Speaker 3: make our jobs easier, make manufacturing easier. Take us out
• 9:01
Speaker 3: of the places that you know, we're spending forty plus
• 9:04
Speaker 3: hours a week at so I can go camping, I
• 9:07
Speaker 3: can draw, I can do photos to where we don't
• 9:11
Speaker 3: have to live to work like we you know, we
• 9:16
Speaker 3: we just work becomes a small component of our lives.
• 9:19
Speaker 3: So there was actually the CEO of Nvidia equated where
• 9:22
Speaker 3: we are with AI to the next Industrial Revolution. I
• 9:26
Speaker 3: think we talked about this last show that you know,
• 9:29
Speaker 3: the original industrial revolution was because you had before you
• 9:33
Speaker 3: didn't have, you know, the standardization of parts. Like people
• 9:37
Speaker 3: are like, oh, Henry Ford, creator of the automobile. He
• 9:40
Speaker 3: was not the creator of the automobile. They were already
• 9:43
Speaker 3: making them in Europe well before that. He was the
• 9:46
Speaker 3: guy who perfected the assembly line. So every model T
• 9:50
Speaker 3: that came off the line was like everyone before, everyone after.
• 9:54
Speaker 3: He could just crank it out by volume. We are
• 9:56
Speaker 3: now at the technological equivalence of that with AI. Like,
• 10:00
Speaker 3: for example, I was applying to jobs today and my
• 10:04
Speaker 3: wife was like, hey, you know, I know you normally
• 10:06
Speaker 3: don't do it. Make sure you do a cover letter.
• 10:08
Speaker 3: I went in to chat GPT and I was like, hey,
• 10:11
Speaker 3: here's my resume, here's the link to the job posting.
• 10:14
Speaker 3: I need a cover letter, and it would just boom,
• 10:17
Speaker 3: here's your cover letter. And it would even pull like,
• 10:19
Speaker 3: you know, it's my name, contact information, all that, you know,
• 10:23
Speaker 3: hiring manager at, and it's the company and it pulled
• 10:26
Speaker 3: the address and everything out of there, populated customized it.
• 10:30
Speaker 3: I had six cover letters done in fifteen minutes.
• 10:33
  Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, cool.
• 10:34
Speaker 4: But when you look at the cover letter, what did
• 10:36
Speaker 4: you how did you feel about each individual letter?
• 10:38
Speaker 3: Though each individual letter was different, customized to the position,
• 10:43
Speaker 3: customized to the company, customized to what the company does,
• 10:47
Speaker 3: their values, what they're trying to push, what industry they
• 10:51
Speaker 3: were in. It was not a boiler plate like if
• 10:53
Speaker 3: I done it, I'd had like this boilerplate letter with
• 10:56
Speaker 3: like a couple of sentences that I would change in between.
• 10:59
Speaker 3: The ball just been like that's good enough, all.
• 11:01
Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, that's fine.
• 11:02
Speaker 3: I don't do cover letters like I never have this one.
• 11:05
Speaker 3: It's just like I'm reading this and I'm like, man,
• 11:08
Speaker 3: that's really good. Like that's you start using I'll tell
• 11:13
Speaker 3: you I could start using AI more.
• 11:15
Speaker 4: Man, this is nice.
• 11:16
Speaker 1: It's like there are a lot of benefit right, So
• 11:20
  Speaker 1: I got to.
• 11:21
Speaker 5: I got added on as part of the chat GPT
• 11:23
Speaker 5: pilot of Campus in a RAM, so I've been playing
• 11:27
Speaker 5: with it at work. There are be like I was
• 11:30
Speaker 5: anti AI everything when it first, Like when it was
• 11:33
Speaker 5: the rage, right you guys know about that. I was like, no,
• 11:35
Speaker 5: I'm not never gonna do chat GPT, not doing it.
• 11:39
Speaker 5: But then I was like, how could I It started
• 11:41
Speaker 5: coming up where we were doing all this cloud production
• 11:43
Speaker 5: and we're doing all this stuff, and how can AI
• 11:44
Speaker 5: help us advance the technology in our work? And I
• 11:48
Speaker 5: saw value in that. So that's where my focus with
• 11:51
Speaker 5: AI is is focusing on how I can use it
• 11:53
Speaker 5: to enhance my work experience. I am using it on
• 11:57
Speaker 5: a personal level to do some creative storytelling, like you know,
• 12:01
Speaker 5: I've done it with my Dungeon and Dragons campaigns where
• 12:04
Speaker 5: I've taken the auto transcript and generating a short story format,
• 12:07
Speaker 5: which has been awesome. And I've been learning how to
• 12:10
Speaker 5: properly prompt the j GPT to give me what I want,
• 12:15
Speaker 5: which in turn has helped me prompt it better at
• 12:18
Speaker 5: getting the things done I wanted to do for work.
• 12:21
Speaker 5: So using AI has been beneficial to me, but I
• 12:26
Speaker 5: still am hard pressed to try and do music, photography,
• 12:32
Speaker 5: other artworks or like just because it doesn't sit well
• 12:36
  Speaker 5: with me.
• 12:37
Speaker 1: I'll tell you it's been interesting, and some of you
• 12:39
Speaker 1: know that I've been working with middle school and high
• 12:42
Speaker 1: school kids about creating podcasts and the program has been great.
• 12:48
Speaker 1: It's worked out really well. And I was talking to
• 12:50
Speaker 1: a principal the other day who said, you know, I
• 12:53
Speaker 1: would love the idea about possibly you coming in and
• 12:56
Speaker 1: teaching them about technology and you know, creating digital technology
• 13:02
Speaker 1: and using AI. And I told the principle. I said,
• 13:07
Speaker 1: if we were to teach the kids number one AI,
• 13:11
Speaker 1: the coursework would change within about five six months. And
• 13:16
Speaker 1: the only thing we can teach with AI is how
• 13:19
Speaker 1: to summon the AI that they need. Like the problem
• 13:25
Speaker 1: a lot of people have when it comes to some
• 13:26
Speaker 1: of the AI that's out there and maybe whether it
• 13:28
Speaker 1: be gpt DALLY three or some of the others that
• 13:32
Speaker 1: are available, is getting the right results by asking the
• 13:38
Speaker 1: proper questions. And the better the question, the more streamlined,
• 13:44
Speaker 1: the better the result you're going to get. And that's
• 13:48
Speaker 1: what some people are not understanding about it. However, I
• 13:52
Speaker 1: will tell you and Slick, I know that this will
• 13:54
Speaker 1: kind of you. Being from a radio broadcasting background, I
• 13:59
Speaker 1: fell down the rabbit. This past week, Google has launched
• 14:03
Speaker 1: something new called Notebook LM. It's actually who it's experimental
• 14:07
Speaker 1: and if you have a Google account you can try
• 14:09
Speaker 1: this experimental AI, which is an AI powered tool that
• 14:13
Speaker 1: is designed to help users understand information by summarizing notes
• 14:18
Speaker 1: and sources so you get a bunch of notes, you
• 14:20
Speaker 1: throw them into this notebook LM, and you have it
• 14:23
Speaker 1: create a synopsis, a summary, or even a couple of
• 14:29
Speaker 1: people talking about it like a podcast. That what I
• 14:33
Speaker 1: created sounded very similar to what would be morning radio
• 14:37
Speaker 1: or maybe even a podcast itself. And again it could help,
• 14:42
Speaker 1: they say students and studying. It works by training a
• 14:45
Speaker 1: specialized AI in the documents that users upload. THEAI then
• 14:50
Speaker 1: becomes an expert on the user's documents that can provide
• 14:53
Speaker 1: specific resources. So I'm gonna play a little audio for you. Now.
• 14:56
Speaker 1: Remember I took notes and I uploaded them, and these
• 15:01
Speaker 1: are two AI people talking about what I had uploaded.
• 15:07
Speaker 6: All right, everybody, deep dive time you ready. We've got
• 15:09
Speaker 6: a wild mix of stuff to unpack today.
• 15:11
Speaker 5: Definitely should be interesting.
• 15:13
Speaker 6: I was just looking over these new snippets and the
• 15:15
Speaker 6: event you sent looks like we're going to be talking
• 15:17
Speaker 6: about everything from like AD overload to at ownership and
• 15:24
Speaker 6: then to top it off, a free local event this weekend.
• 15:27
Speaker 4: Sounds like a plan.
• 15:28
Speaker 6: So let's jump right in. Huh. This first one, this
• 15:30
Speaker 6: Business Journal's article right it says we're hit wow.
• 15:33
  Speaker 4: Get this.
• 15:33
Speaker 6: Four thousand ads every single day.
• 15:36
Speaker 1: Now, remember, all I did was uploaded the story about
• 15:39
Speaker 1: the four thousand ads, and that was it. That's all
• 15:43
Speaker 1: I did. I uploaded a bunch of stories and then
• 15:45
Speaker 1: I said a story about an event that happened green
• 15:48
  Speaker 1: Egg deities.
• 15:48
Speaker 3: What about you, though, what workshops are you most excited about?
• 15:51
Speaker 6: Oh Man, tough call, But honestly, those computer basics and
• 15:56
Speaker 6: online safety ones sound super useful, especially these days.
• 16:00
Speaker 5: You know no doubt about it? Did you?
• 16:03
Speaker 1: So you listen to the AI Did that not sound
• 16:06
Speaker 1: like two real people.
• 16:08
Speaker 5: Have from from listening to it the way there, the
• 16:12
Speaker 5: way their cadence was totally not human to me.
• 16:16
Speaker 4: Real right now, generally I would agree with you this
• 16:19
Speaker 4: one could have fooled me now because the other ones
• 16:22
Speaker 4: I got kind of catched. This one could have fooled me.
• 16:24
Speaker 3: Now that that that fell firmly in the uncanny valley
• 16:27
Speaker 3: for me, that it was just I was shown like
• 16:30
Speaker 3: the cadences, the pauses and the breaks were just like
• 16:34
Speaker 3: just that, those couple degrees off, just like I'm.
• 16:38
Speaker 4: Like, ah, now, now let me say this. Behind what
• 16:41
Speaker 4: I just said, this one could have fooled me. But
• 16:43
  Speaker 4: I wouldn't listen to these two because I don't listen
• 16:46
Speaker 4: to people on the radio like this. Already. There are
• 16:49
Speaker 4: people like this on air already. I can't stand and
• 16:54
Speaker 4: I don't listen to their shows.
• 16:55
Speaker 1: I was driving on Friday morning or Thursday morning, listening
• 17:00
Speaker 1: to a show very similar to this, and I'm ember
• 17:04
Speaker 1: thinking this. When I did this on Thursday or Friday
• 17:08
Speaker 1: Friday morning, I remember thinking, well, that sounds like that
• 17:11
Speaker 1: show I listened to yesterday. But the pauses, to me
• 17:14
Speaker 1: are what made it give it that little edge of
• 17:18
  Speaker 1: human of humanity. So I don't know, I don't know
• 17:22
Speaker 1: we're listening to we're listening to the same thing, but
• 17:24
Speaker 1: maybe it is two different things. It just it was
• 17:27
  Speaker 1: just so creepy.
• 17:28
Speaker 3: Now that the thing that makes this extra creepy for
• 17:30
Speaker 3: me is have have you guys ever heard of the
• 17:33
  Speaker 3: dead Internet theory?
• 17:34
  Speaker 4: No?
• 17:36
Speaker 3: Okay, so this is I please listeners be aware. I
• 17:39
Speaker 3: am putting on my tinfoil hat for this, So I'm
• 17:42
Speaker 3: just gonna throw that out there. The dead Internet theory
• 17:45
Speaker 3: started around twenty twenty one. Of course, it started with
• 17:49
Speaker 3: like a four Chan post, which you know, fastioning of
• 17:52
Speaker 3: good information there. But the dead Internet theory was basically
• 17:56
Speaker 3: that actual organic human interaction on the Internet that has
• 18:00
Speaker 3: been on a steady decline, replaced instead with bots and
• 18:05
Speaker 3: algorithmically created content, so that you have no idea because
• 18:11
Speaker 3: of the pure anonymity of the Internet, for example, for Chune,
• 18:15
Speaker 3: Reddit coorra sites like that where it's just you pick
• 18:18
Speaker 3: a user name and that's it, that you have no
• 18:20
Speaker 3: idea whether you're actually interfacing with an organic, live human
• 18:25
Speaker 3: being or a bot created by somebody else. And now
• 18:30
Speaker 3: we've got this stuff that can create you know, a
• 18:34
Speaker 3: pseudo sounding radio show to go on top of it.
• 18:37
Speaker 3: I'm just like, oh, this is great. I'm not gonna
• 18:39
Speaker 3: wake up at three a m. With an existential crisis
• 18:41
Speaker 3: of what's actually real.
• 18:42
Speaker 1: That's not gonna happen at all.
• 18:44
Speaker 3: Hey, thanks Andy, I really appreciate that one. Like people
• 18:48
Speaker 3: are like, ah, the dead Internet. There is just I'm like,
• 18:51
Speaker 3: it might have been, but we are. Somebody looked at
• 18:55
Speaker 3: that in twenty one and was like, oh damn, that's
• 18:57
Speaker 3: like a really good idea.
• 19:00
Speaker 4: Sleep again. We bet if like AI got real.
• 19:04
Speaker 3: And now somebody at Google is just like, oh, yep, yeah,
• 19:07
Speaker 3: let me just make a product that can do that
• 19:08
Speaker 3: for you. That's fine.
• 19:09
Speaker 1: I tested this out by uploading a story from last
• 19:13
Speaker 1: year about a fireworks festival that happens here in Saladita
• 19:18
Speaker 1: And it was just a short little blurb, a press release,
• 19:22
Speaker 1: and it took the two people talking about the event. Well,
• 19:25
Speaker 1: it blew me away. Is they pronounced sabwdita the correct way.
• 19:29
Speaker 1: A lot of people call it serena or are they
• 19:31
Speaker 1: give it a different name, but they actually pronounced it right.
• 19:34
Speaker 1: And again that that just blew me away. It makes
• 19:38
Speaker 1: me wonder in light of radio, and you know, radio
• 19:41
Speaker 1: is competing with so many different technologies now, radio broadcasting slick.
• 19:47
Speaker 1: I just wonder. You know, you've heard stories about there's
• 19:49
Speaker 1: one big, huge radio group out there that has had
• 19:52
Speaker 1: you know AI DJs that has been doing that. You
• 19:55
Speaker 1: know radio station says, well, we serve the market. Could
• 19:59
Speaker 1: take that uploaded and it could be running on the air,
• 20:03
Speaker 1: and you know some people wouldn't even have any idea
• 20:06
Speaker 1: that that's what was going on.
• 20:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's sad. That's sad. By the way, matter
• 20:11
Speaker 4: you awake or is this are you asleep? Look at
• 20:15
Speaker 4: the look on this face.
• 20:16
Speaker 1: I love that you're talking about.
• 20:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, when humanity is dead and gone, there's still going
• 20:23
Speaker 3: to be like podcast getting pumped out, radio broadcast going.
• 20:27
Speaker 3: The aliens are going to show up and just be like, dude,
• 20:29
Speaker 3: we got to get off this planet. I got to
• 20:31
Speaker 3: think through some things now just says I did not
• 20:33
Speaker 3: sign up for this tonight.
• 20:34
Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna try and Sean bumped out. We're
• 20:37
Speaker 1: not sure what happened to a signal. We're gonna try
• 20:39
Speaker 1: and see if we get shown back. We do have
• 20:40
Speaker 1: to take a quick break. We'll be back with more
• 20:42
Speaker 1: of tech talk Radio.
• 20:43
Speaker 3: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Matt Jones.
• 20:46
Speaker 4: And I am Slick. Our website is tech talk radio
• 20:49
  Speaker 4: dot com.
• 20:50
Speaker 3: We'll be right back now back to tech talk Radio.
• 20:56
Speaker 3: So I was talking earlier about, you know, with AI
• 21:00
Speaker 3: creating the cover letters, things like that, My wife and
• 21:03
Speaker 3: I have found this this awesome dog park shout up
• 21:06
Speaker 3: to skip Town, Denver. This this place is like it
• 21:11
Speaker 3: sandals for dogs, like they do grooming, training, boarding, daycare.
• 21:20
Speaker 3: And then they've got this giant open dog park that
• 21:22
Speaker 3: now also has a splash pad. The whole thing's turfed.
• 21:26
Speaker 3: There's like six attendants out at anytime. They have a
• 21:29
Speaker 3: rule that like no waste of any kind can be
• 21:32
Speaker 3: on the turf for more than thirty seconds.
• 21:34
  Speaker 1: Oh wow.
• 21:35
Speaker 3: So like you'll see a dog like mark a table
• 21:37
Speaker 3: and somebody's immediately like following right behind, sprays it up
• 21:41
Speaker 3: and starting Wednesday they'll have a full bar. Well hopefully
• 21:45
Speaker 3: Wednesday they'll have a full bar. And they currently have
• 21:47
Speaker 3: a coffee shop. The reason I bring this up is
• 21:49
Speaker 3: because that's where I've actually been working out of for
• 21:52
Speaker 3: like the past week. We'll get up, load up one
• 21:55
Speaker 3: of the dogs, and we'll take them and just let
• 21:56
Speaker 3: them go play for like three four hours.
• 21:58
  Speaker 1: Cool.
• 21:58
Speaker 3: That's also why I bought my MacBook, my MacBook Pro,
• 22:01
Speaker 3: so I had something to do that with. But I
• 22:04
Speaker 3: discovered when I was there after like the first trip,
• 22:06
Speaker 3: I was like one monitor, the nerd that I am
• 22:10
Speaker 3: does not cut it. So I I had mentioned that
• 22:13
Speaker 3: to Lee, and because uh, you know, Google is ever
• 22:17
Speaker 3: present and always watching, I had an ad targeted to
• 22:20
Speaker 3: me a few days later, and I just got the
• 22:22
Speaker 3: product over the weekend. And it's called mon Duo m
• 22:26
Speaker 3: O n duo all right, Onduo dot com?
• 22:29
Speaker 1: Do you have a website? Or is monduo dot co?
• 22:32
  Speaker 1: All right? Cool?
• 22:34
Speaker 3: And it comes in two versions. It comes in a
• 22:36
Speaker 3: version for fourteen inch laptops and a version for sixteen
• 22:38
Speaker 3: inch laptops. Mon Duo is short for Monitor Duo, so
• 22:43
Speaker 3: it's a little thicker than the current MacBook pros. But
• 22:47
Speaker 3: it basically you fold it open and then it like
• 22:51
Speaker 3: expands a bit and then clamps onto your monitor screen.
• 22:54
Speaker 3: You plug in two USBC cables and now I have
• 22:57
  Speaker 3: three monitors anywhere.
• 22:59
Speaker 1: I got oh wow.
• 23:02
Speaker 3: And this, I will admit it is not the cheapest
• 23:05
Speaker 3: of the solutions that it was like seven fifty for
• 23:08
Speaker 3: the whole thing, but they're one hundred and forty four
• 23:11
Speaker 3: hertz five hundred knits for brightness, and they've actually got
• 23:17
Speaker 3: like the full resolution and can match or even surpass
• 23:20
Speaker 3: the brand new retina display on my MacBook Pro.
• 23:23
Speaker 1: Oh wow. So they're not cheap. I mean they're cheap quality.
• 23:26
  Speaker 1: They're built well.
• 23:27
Speaker 3: They're built very well. It's got a great feel to it.
• 23:30
Speaker 3: It's not one of those where like when you open it,
• 23:32
Speaker 3: you're like this is gonna shattered in like two seconds,
• 23:35
Speaker 3: and you know clamps on that you can either use
• 23:38
Speaker 3: USBC or Thunderbolt four I think is the other version.
• 23:42
Speaker 3: But then each side also has Mini HDMI if you
• 23:46
Speaker 3: need that as well, and with the MacBook Pro. And
• 23:50
Speaker 3: as you guys know how many times I've railed against
• 23:53
Speaker 3: Mac stuff against Apple stuff on this show.
• 23:56
Speaker 1: It is my shtick.
• 23:57
Speaker 3: It's right there with Justin's. But this was great because
• 24:00
Speaker 3: I just plugged it in on both sides. It was
• 24:02
Speaker 3: instantly recognized, instantly expanded the displays, set the resolution in
• 24:07
Speaker 3: brightness to match everything else, adopted over my wallpaper. And
• 24:12
Speaker 3: now I'm sitting there at the table in this dog
• 24:14
Speaker 3: park watching my dog have a ball with three monitors
• 24:17
Speaker 3: spread straight across, and they're all the same size, in
• 24:20
Speaker 3: a nice beautiful line. And anyone who has set up
• 24:23
Speaker 3: multiple monitors before, no is one of the greatest pet
• 24:26
Speaker 3: peeves is when you've got like two in a line
• 24:27
Speaker 3: and that third one's just sitting like that little bit lower. Yes,
• 24:30
Speaker 3: oh yeah, frustrated, and you're just like, oh great, I
• 24:33
Speaker 3: gotta redrill the whole mount into the wall or find
• 24:36
Speaker 3: some cardboard or but they're perfectly lined supported. It's got
• 24:39
Speaker 3: a little kickstand. I'm I can do full work remote anywhere.
• 24:44
Speaker 3: Now with those three monitors.
• 24:46
Speaker 4: Are the kickstands on the back of each of those
• 24:47
Speaker 4: two monitors? Do they have one freach?
• 24:50
Speaker 3: It's just in the middle and it just it's it
• 24:54
Speaker 3: folds down and then sits in place. And just because
• 24:57
Speaker 3: you have the clamp providing pressure on the sides, gravity
• 25:01
Speaker 3: having it at the top and that little kickstand is
• 25:03
Speaker 3: just a little bit of extra. I mean, my my
• 25:06
Speaker 3: dog was running around bumping the table the whole time,
• 25:08
Speaker 3: and the monitors were steady.
• 25:10
Speaker 1: Man, it was it was great.
• 25:12
Speaker 4: Can you move them back and forward with the kickstand?
• 25:14
Speaker 4: Can you adjust how you know how far back it
• 25:17
Speaker 4: leans or how close it comes?
• 25:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you can't do where you have like
• 25:22
Speaker 3: one close to you and then like the other two
• 25:24
Speaker 3: are like sitting six inches back or anything like that.
• 25:26
  Speaker 1: It does.
• 25:27
Speaker 3: It does like wing in and out, So it can
• 25:29
Speaker 3: either be in a straight line or kind of a
• 25:31
Speaker 3: curve if that's what you talk about.
• 25:34
Speaker 5: You can do that.
• 25:35
Speaker 3: So you can just have like three straight across. You
• 25:37
Speaker 3: can have them kind of bend in and have you know,
• 25:39
Speaker 3: your own little laptop cave sitting there in the coffee shop.
• 25:42
Speaker 3: I'm an internet troll. Leave me alone, which is definitely
• 25:46
Speaker 3: what somebody called me out on today. They were like,
• 25:48
Speaker 3: so you brought the basement with you, And I was like,
• 25:50
Speaker 3: first off, well done. Second off one called for like,
• 25:56
Speaker 3: how dare you say something so blatantly accurate?
• 25:59
  Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
• 26:00
  Speaker 4: You know.
• 26:00
Speaker 1: One of the things I loved about a dual monitors
• 26:03
Speaker 1: set up. And I haven't tried the three yet. And
• 26:05
Speaker 1: I've got two different monitors that I've tried to make
• 26:08
Speaker 1: it happen. The first one I really like. But is
• 26:11
Speaker 1: being able to know. Some people say they just want
• 26:13
Speaker 1: to extend their desktop. Others say they want to have
• 26:17
Speaker 1: a separate screen so somebody could watch, you know, Netflix,
• 26:20
Speaker 1: or could watch peacock Er or use that for graphs
• 26:24
Speaker 1: and have maybe be editing something in the middle. I
• 26:28
Speaker 1: like to extend the desktop. Can you do all three?
• 26:32
Speaker 1: So you have a left screen, middle screen, right screen.
• 26:35
Speaker 1: It's all one big, gigantic desktop that you can move
• 26:38
  Speaker 1: back and forth.
• 26:39
  Speaker 3: I mean that's that's how it set up. When I
• 26:41
Speaker 3: plugged it all in. It doesn't read it as one
• 26:44
Speaker 3: one unit what you're talking about, like, for example, the desktop. Yeah,
• 26:50
Speaker 3: from my from my desktop, because I have I have
• 26:52
  Speaker 3: two monitors.
• 26:52
Speaker 1: I used to have three.
• 26:53
Speaker 3: Now my wife has her own computer and I have
• 26:55
Speaker 3: two monitors. Guess we're the third one too, mm hmm.
• 26:58
Speaker 3: But when I had three, a MD has something called ifinity,
• 27:04
Speaker 3: and on software side, it'll actually group all those together
• 27:08
Speaker 3: as one solid display.
• 27:10
  Speaker 1: It does it.
• 27:11
Speaker 3: I would have to tweak around because that's more of
• 27:13
Speaker 3: a software thing on the Mac side, but it does.
• 27:16
Speaker 3: You have monitor one, two, three, and I can seamlessly
• 27:19
Speaker 3: drag between all three of those windows like it's nothing.
• 27:22
Speaker 4: Now you're using the fourteen inch MacBook. I know on
• 27:26
Speaker 4: the sixteen inch MacBooks they have on each side, left
• 27:29
Speaker 4: and right they have two USB c ports. What do
• 27:32
Speaker 4: you have the same? I have the same.
• 27:35
Speaker 3: The Mandua comes with a short USBC or thunderbolt. It's
• 27:39
Speaker 3: the same bloody thing. They have a short cable and
• 27:43
Speaker 3: a long cable, so you can do like you can.
• 27:46
Speaker 3: I just use the two on the left to keep
• 27:48
Speaker 3: the right side free so I'm right handed if I
• 27:51
Speaker 3: want to plug a flash drive or something in, so
• 27:52
Speaker 3: I do the long cable from the right monitor, looping around,
• 27:56
Speaker 3: plugging in on the left side, and then the short
• 27:58
Speaker 3: cable from the left side of the left side, and
• 28:01
Speaker 3: that still leaves me a free USB sport on the
• 28:04
Speaker 3: right side of my MacBook Pro.
• 28:05
Speaker 1: Are you thinking about getting now, like a like a
• 28:09
Speaker 1: hub so that you could add more devices? Because that's
• 28:12
Speaker 1: that's the thing we're seeing, especially with laptops and mobile devices.
• 28:15
Speaker 1: You're not going to find a whole bunch of usbc's, usba's,
• 28:19
Speaker 1: you know, these types of connectors. So maybe a hub
• 28:23
Speaker 1: to extend your connections and maybe get more.
• 28:26
Speaker 3: Don't need to because they have two USB sports per
• 28:30
  Speaker 3: monitor per side.
• 28:31
Speaker 1: Oh wow, so you plug those in, but then you've
• 28:34
Speaker 1: got almost like a hub on that monitor itself. Yep, Okay,
• 28:37
Speaker 1: now I understand the price too.
• 28:39
Speaker 3: I was looking at that thing and I was like, oh,
• 28:41
Speaker 3: well done, Google ad algorithm.
• 28:44
Speaker 1: I'm going to give you the w on this one.
• 28:46
Speaker 3: Like you are creepy, but today you succeeded, very very
• 28:50
  Speaker 3: well done.
• 28:51
Speaker 1: That is good. So I wanted to share with you
• 28:53
Speaker 1: too that today was the last day for my Android venture.
• 28:58
Speaker 1: Going to the Google sold nine XL the pro nine Excel,
• 29:02
Speaker 1: and you know, I was told, if you're going to
• 29:04
Speaker 1: return it, you have fifteen days. Today was the day,
• 29:07
Speaker 1: and over the weekend I made sure that I got
• 29:11
Speaker 1: the heck use out of it. I was using the
• 29:15
Speaker 1: AI on that and I was comparing it, so i'd have,
• 29:18
Speaker 1: you know, my iPhone sitting next to it, and I'd
• 29:21
Speaker 1: ask a question to the Google Ai which is Gebini,
• 29:25
Speaker 1: and it would give me a really great answer, concise
• 29:30
Speaker 1: the info I needed. I would ask Siri and it
• 29:34
Speaker 1: would pop up a little little scream, not even repeat
• 29:37
Speaker 1: what I was asking, and I'd have to read it
• 29:40
Speaker 1: if I wanted to. And slick. I don't know about you,
• 29:43
Speaker 1: but you know, when you're doing a radio show and
• 29:46
Speaker 1: you're doing show preps, sometimes you just blurt out, Hey,
• 29:48
Speaker 1: tell me this, and it gives you the answer. I
• 29:50
Speaker 1: don't want to have to pick up the phone and
• 29:51
Speaker 1: read it, and the whole bit. The other reason going
• 29:55
Speaker 1: the other reason, the call screener. Uh huh. Apple Yeah,
• 30:00
Speaker 1: does not have a call screener, at least right now.
• 30:03
Speaker 1: I don't know if they do with the new sixteen.
• 30:06
Speaker 1: But the call screener in this is great. I've been
• 30:08
Speaker 1: using it and I love it. You know, you just
• 30:12
Speaker 1: you can push a button. It will screen your call
• 30:14
Speaker 1: for you and then you could ask can you give
• 30:16
Speaker 1: me more info? Or you could pick up that call,
• 30:18
Speaker 1: or you could send it to you know, to voicemail.
• 30:22
Speaker 1: So better assistant features call screener. I will say that
• 30:26
Speaker 1: the picts are okay with it. The Apple I kind
• 30:29
Speaker 1: of liked a little better the picts of the video.
• 30:33
Speaker 1: It takes a little while to charge as well, and
• 30:35
Speaker 1: the battery life of the iPhone fourteen promac seem to
• 30:37
Speaker 1: be a bit longer than the pixel. I had to
• 30:41
Speaker 1: buy a case for that this today, and I ended
• 30:44
Speaker 1: up getting this Trras magnetic and it has a kickstand
• 30:48
Speaker 1: on it, so you can stand your smartphone while it's
• 30:52
Speaker 1: you know, on your desk, or even lay it sideways
• 30:56
Speaker 1: in landscape mode. One problem I was having if you're
• 30:58
Speaker 1: somebody like me, you're going from an iPhone to an Android.
• 31:02
Speaker 1: I was getting people who were texting me and I
• 31:04
Speaker 1: was not getting the text on my Android device. There
• 31:07
Speaker 1: was still going to my my iPhone because of course
• 31:09
Speaker 1: I keep everything, and even with the iPhone off, I
• 31:12
Speaker 1: turn it on and there were messages. So I was
• 31:14
Speaker 1: trying to figure out why is that happening. People say, hey,
• 31:17
Speaker 1: did you get my messages?
• 31:18
Speaker 3: Like, no, because you didn't de register the phone from
• 31:21
Speaker 3: the I Messages service.
• 31:23
Speaker 1: Or just turn off the I Messages service. Yeah. You
• 31:26
Speaker 1: if you don't have the device, you could get in
• 31:28
Speaker 1: touch with Apple and they could de register it, or
• 31:31
Speaker 1: you could go into the iPhone itself and just turn
• 31:33
Speaker 1: off I message. I never knew that. So that's why
• 31:36
Speaker 1: the I messages. As soon as I'd be within Wi
• 31:38
Speaker 1: Fi range, then I would get the get the messages.
• 31:41
Speaker 1: So again, hopefully now I will get all the messages.
• 31:45
Speaker 1: I figured out the apps, and I'm liking it.
• 31:49
Speaker 4: So like you figured out the apps. That's a strange
• 31:53
Speaker 4: that's a strange statement from you. You figured out the apps.
• 31:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, because you know you could scroll up this way,
• 32:00
Speaker 1: uh huh, you get all the apps, or you can
• 32:03
Speaker 1: take each app and move it to where you want
• 32:05
Speaker 1: it to go and eventually get your complete lineup of apps. Arrange.
• 32:09
Speaker 4: Okay, I get you all right, which is really good.
• 32:11
Speaker 1: Because we did get a question that was sent to us.
• 32:15
Speaker 1: Actually it came in last week, and I thought it
• 32:18
Speaker 1: was pretty cool because they were listening to this, says, hey,
• 32:20
Speaker 1: guys heard the show last week, which'd be a couple
• 32:23
Speaker 1: of weeks ago, and you were talking about the move
• 32:25
Speaker 1: from Apple and Android. But I'm wondering. Years ago, I
• 32:27
Speaker 1: remembered on iTunes you could organize the apps on the smartphone.
• 32:34
Speaker 1: So you connect your smartphone, you go into iTunes on
• 32:36
Speaker 1: your PC, and there were your screens and you could
• 32:38
Speaker 1: move the apps where you wanted to go, and I
• 32:41
Speaker 1: remember them that went away. I remember I was kind
• 32:43
Speaker 1: of bummed at that too, because I like that anyway.
• 32:46
Speaker 1: He said, is there something like this on the Android devices?
• 32:49
Speaker 1: And this was from Scott in Tucson. I haven't found
• 32:51
Speaker 1: it yet, you guys know if is there anything like this?
• 32:56
Speaker 4: And I've never used that feature of arranging the apps
• 33:00
Speaker 4: via iTunes and stuff. I've now with iOS eighteen, the
• 33:03
Speaker 4: latest version of the operating system, I've noticed I can
• 33:06
Speaker 4: now put icons in specific locations.
• 33:10
Speaker 1: You can always do that, can't you.
• 33:12
Speaker 3: No, the longest time, you couldn't, which is why Android
• 33:15
Speaker 3: users were dying laughing when Apple's like this brand new,
• 33:19
Speaker 3: innovative feature and we were like, brand new, what We've
• 33:24
Speaker 3: had that for over a decade, My dude, Yes it's
• 33:27
Speaker 3: not new. You are copying our old notebook.
• 33:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, new one. I you know, the movie in the
• 33:35
Speaker 1: apps has been a bit of a chore, But now
• 33:38
Speaker 1: once I'm getting them set up, I'm really beginning to
• 33:41
Speaker 1: really like it. And again, it takes great And this
• 33:45
Speaker 1: was kind of a joke a couple of years ago
• 33:47
Speaker 1: when I was doing the morning show over at one
• 33:49
Speaker 1: O seven and we were talking about the fact that
• 33:53
Speaker 1: my co host Dakota, her husband would take pictures of
• 33:56
Speaker 1: the moon with his Samsung device. Look great. It's just
• 34:01
Speaker 1: so excited about the pictures of the moon. But how
• 34:03
Speaker 1: often am I going to go take pictures of the moon.
• 34:06
Speaker 1: And it's true, they look great on Android devices. iPhones
• 34:10
  Speaker 1: not so much.
• 34:11
Speaker 3: That's because the Pixel devices have a and the Samsungs
• 34:16
Speaker 3: as well have a specific with specific models. They have
• 34:19
Speaker 3: a literal astrophotography mode where you get your phone on
• 34:24
Speaker 3: a stable surface or something and you do night sight
• 34:28
Speaker 3: and then a few seconds later the phones like, oh,
• 34:30
Speaker 3: you're doing astrophotography. Do you want me to switch to
• 34:32
Speaker 3: that mode? And you're like, yes, absolutely do it and
• 34:35
Speaker 3: you can take amazing astro pictures with that. Absolutely blew
• 34:40
Speaker 3: my mind the first time I did it.
• 34:42
Speaker 1: Now, Scott intoson one thing you can do with the
• 34:45
Speaker 1: Android device, if you're thinking about it, is easily connected
• 34:48
Speaker 1: to your Windows eleven PC. If you've got a Windows
• 34:50
Speaker 1: eleven PC, you can get your text messages on your computer,
• 34:56
Speaker 1: you can get your phone calls connected on your computer,
• 35:00
Speaker 1: you could read your mail messages. So again that's something
• 35:03
Speaker 1: to take a look at. And I went ahead and
• 35:05
Speaker 1: set it up, and I was like, Okay, that's kind
• 35:06
Speaker 1: of cool. You know, I do wish you could organize
• 35:09
Speaker 1: the apps that way, But no, it looks like that's
• 35:12
Speaker 1: something that went away some years ago.
• 35:15
Speaker 4: Microsoft phone Link, I think it is called.
• 35:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, phone link is what it is.
• 35:18
Speaker 3: You've got that for Windows ten as well. Oh not
• 35:21
Speaker 3: just eleven, it's also Windows ten. The other nice thing
• 35:23
Speaker 3: about like, yes, the initial setup, getting your apps where
• 35:27
Speaker 3: you want them, everything like that, it's a pain. I'm
• 35:29
Speaker 3: not going to disagree. But once you have that done,
• 35:32
Speaker 3: when your phone does the it's backup, all those positions,
• 35:36
Speaker 3: everything like that are saved as part of the backup.
• 35:38
Speaker 3: So say that phone had an unfortunate accident with gravity
• 35:44
Speaker 3: or something, or you know, a drink out spilled on it.
• 35:47
Speaker 3: Nick got fried, You get your new one. Sign in
• 35:49
Speaker 3: your Google account says hey, do you want to restore
• 35:51
Speaker 3: from this latest backup which it stores up in the
• 35:54
Speaker 3: Google drive. Say yes, pulls it all down. Apps go
• 35:58
Speaker 3: in the same places you all, only you have to
• 36:00
  Speaker 3: do it once.
• 36:01
  Speaker 2: Oh.
• 36:01
  Speaker 4: I like that.
• 36:02
Speaker 1: That is good news. Didn't even know about that one all.
• 36:04
Speaker 1: Are we gonna take another quick break. We got a
• 36:06
Speaker 1: couple of more listener questions. We'll get to coming up
• 36:09
Speaker 1: with tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Matt.
• 36:11
Speaker 4: Jones, and I am Slick. You can subscribe to the
• 36:13
Speaker 4: show iTunes, speaker tuned in, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music.
• 36:18
Speaker 1: You got them all, and now back to tech talk Radio.
• 36:24
Speaker 4: Questions. Oh, we get questions. We get lots and lots
• 36:27
Speaker 4: and lots and lots of questions. We don't have the
• 36:30
Speaker 4: jingle signed to sing it myself.
• 36:31
Speaker 1: It's a good tingle. We AI create one for us.
• 36:35
Speaker 1: I'll do that for next week.
• 36:39
  Speaker 4: It's everywhere. It's everywhere.
• 36:41
Speaker 1: Matt, you got a question that you you kind of
• 36:43
Speaker 1: thought was a good one.
• 36:45
Speaker 3: Sure, Sorry, just had to reboot from my brain breaking
• 36:48
Speaker 3: from digesting. We do an AI jingle. Carry has a
• 36:52
Speaker 3: question coming in. I think I'm dumbfounded by my Wi
• 36:55
Speaker 3: Fi hotspot situation. I've been using my phone hotspot, but
• 36:58
Speaker 3: apparently my unlimited hotspot is limited, so I run out
• 37:02
Speaker 3: and can't watch TV. I'm struggling here trying to figure
• 37:04
Speaker 3: out figured it out. I'm told that t mobile is
• 37:06
  Speaker 3: a thingy I would need, but I can't get it.
• 37:08
Speaker 3: What it is, I'm not sure and maybe somebody else
• 37:10
Speaker 3: makes this little thingy that I can buy.
• 37:12
Speaker 1: Question is what do I need?
• 37:14
Speaker 3: So this comes across as a two part of question,
• 37:18
Speaker 3: but it's actually not, Harry. What you are talking about
• 37:23
Speaker 3: is actually something that I noticed with my own cell
• 37:25
Speaker 3: phone plan the other day. I have Google Five's Unlimited
• 37:30
Speaker 3: Unlimited super Duper Premium Plus and it lists on there,
• 37:35
Speaker 3: you know, unlimited this, unlimited that, and then you'll see
• 37:39
Speaker 3: unlimited hotspot data with that tiny little asterisks, and I
• 37:43
Speaker 3: can never say that word correctly, so I'm hoping I
• 37:45
Speaker 3: was close enough. But when you go down and you
• 37:48
Speaker 3: read the terms and conditions for that, most of them
• 37:50
Speaker 3: what they say with their you know, quote unlimited hotspot
• 37:53
Speaker 3: is you get fifty gigs or twenty five gigs or
• 37:57
Speaker 3: whatever your plan is saying, you get of, you know,
• 38:01
Speaker 3: like five G hotspot data. And then when you go
• 38:04
Speaker 3: over that, it's not that you lose that data, it's
• 38:07
Speaker 3: that that data then and they'll usually list it is
• 38:10
Speaker 3: then like throttle down to like two hundred something killabytes
• 38:14
  Speaker 3: per second.
• 38:15
  Speaker 1: Oh wow.
• 38:15
  Speaker 3: Now for comparison's sake, five G you're I mean five G.
• 38:20
Speaker 3: Last time I checked on my phone was approaching like
• 38:22
Speaker 3: gig speeds that's like gigabit per second, and then you
• 38:25
Speaker 3: go from gigabit to megabit to kill a bit, so
• 38:27
Speaker 3: as you can see that as a drastic drop off.
• 38:29
Speaker 3: So this is not so much what thingy you need
• 38:33
Speaker 3: to find, it's you need to check your cell phone
• 38:36
Speaker 3: plan with your provider and see what type of hotspot
• 38:40
Speaker 3: data limits you have, because even the unlimited ones aren't
• 38:43
Speaker 3: truly unlimited. If I use over X amount of mobile
• 38:47
Speaker 3: data on my quote unlimited plan, I still get data.
• 38:51
Speaker 3: It is an unlimited amount of data. I just don't
• 38:53
Speaker 3: get unlimited data at that speed. So the reason you
• 38:58
Speaker 3: can't watch the TV is because the it has gone
• 39:00
Speaker 3: from a fire hose to a trickling, kinked garden hose. Yeah,
• 39:05
Speaker 3: and you're trying to move the same amount of data
• 39:07
  Speaker 3: through it.
• 39:07
Speaker 1: Is there any service out there that we could think
• 39:10
Speaker 1: of that will just give you the Wi Fi features
• 39:14
Speaker 1: that somebody wants to watch, Hulu, Peacock, whatever twenty four
• 39:19
Speaker 1: to seven could be able to do? Or is that
• 39:21
Speaker 1: just I mean, would starlink be something like a solution.
• 39:24
Speaker 3: Maybe starlink would be a solution for that, depending on
• 39:27
Speaker 3: what plan you got. I know they've been trying to
• 39:30
Speaker 3: slash prices to get people down to that. The one
• 39:33
Speaker 3: that I honestly do with my phone is hey, going
• 39:37
Speaker 3: back to what we're just talking about with Google Pixels.
• 39:39
Speaker 3: With my Google Fi membership, I get a free Google
• 39:46
Speaker 3: VPN hard cooked into my phone, so I will turn
• 39:50
Speaker 3: on my Google VPN and jump on like Panera's free
• 39:55
Speaker 3: WiFi or you know, the McDonald's around the corner or
• 39:58
Speaker 3: something like that, because traditionally, speaking is the security guy.
• 40:01
Speaker 3: When you jump on free Wi Fi, it's not it's
• 40:04
Speaker 3: not going to be secure if there's no password and
• 40:07
Speaker 3: you can just hop on. There's a whole bunch of
• 40:09
Speaker 3: things that people can do if you then jump on
• 40:12
Speaker 3: that and you're behind your own VP and you're adding
• 40:15
Speaker 3: in your own layer of security with that, and that
• 40:17
Speaker 3: cuts down the amount of data you're using because it's
• 40:20
Speaker 3: not you're not using your mobile data plan. You're using
• 40:23
Speaker 3: somebody else's free Wi Fi, right.
• 40:25
Speaker 1: And that's if they're nearby. If you're in the stick,
• 40:28
  Speaker 1: you're you're somewhere, that's yeah, what can you're out.
• 40:31
Speaker 3: And all you have is a cell signal. I mean
• 40:36
Speaker 3: your your hands are kind of tied there.
• 40:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're gonna be difficult on that one. So uh yeah,
• 40:41
Speaker 1: so there is no thinging that we know that we know.
• 40:44
Speaker 1: I like the the description of thigging slick. How do
• 40:47
Speaker 1: you watch your your shows? Because I know you've always
• 40:51
Speaker 1: kind of gone intenna.
• 40:52
Speaker 4: Generally, yes, antenna, but there are some streaming stuff that
• 40:56
Speaker 4: I do. But first time, we say, Matt, I'm so
• 40:58
Speaker 4: glad you you explained this whole unlimited thing. Thank you,
• 41:02
Speaker 4: thank you for it was because yeah, like like he
• 41:05
Speaker 4: said that there's an asterisk.
• 41:07
Speaker 3: There, it's unlimited kind of yeah, exactly.
• 41:13
Speaker 4: Now I'm doing the standard Cox thing as well as
• 41:17
Speaker 4: the free Wi Fi hotspots kind of thing. I don't
• 41:21
  Speaker 4: I don't even think I get close because I'm so
• 41:24
Speaker 4: cheap to my uh my limit. We are we getting
• 41:29
Speaker 4: a terabyte tearabyte in a half now generally with internet
• 41:32
  Speaker 4: service providers.
• 41:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think or even two two terabytes. Yeah, I
• 41:39
Speaker 1: remember what I can't pay for tabytes?
• 41:41
  Speaker 5: That was it?
• 41:42
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I've been I've been doing all
• 41:46
Speaker 4: the freebies. I've been doing the you know, well, well
• 41:48
Speaker 4: freak three bees and there's this free v and then
• 41:52
Speaker 4: there's a Pluto and Zumo and two.
• 41:55
Speaker 1: Bright We see that's three free v is h Amazon Amazon, Yeah, yeah,
• 42:02
Speaker 1: you know, see I was thinking. See I was thinking
• 42:04
Speaker 1: of the same thing of doing, you know, cutting the cord.
• 42:06
Speaker 1: And you know, I'm paying a lot of money to Exfinity,
• 42:10
Speaker 1: and we've got a company coming out now called ting
• 42:13
Speaker 1: in my area that is providing fiber and it's like
• 42:17
Speaker 1: eighty five bucks a month, I guess, uh for uh
• 42:21
Speaker 1: for quite a bit of bandwidth. But see, I'm one
• 42:24
Speaker 1: of those that I put it on. I leave the
• 42:26
Speaker 1: TV on all night. It's kind of I go to
• 42:28
Speaker 1: sleep to it. It's just the way that I've been,
• 42:31
Speaker 1: you know, raised in the whole bit. So I got
• 42:33
Speaker 1: it on a Hallmark all night, and I'm thinking, okay,
• 42:36
Speaker 1: if I was, if I was to have it on
• 42:38
Speaker 1: you know, the Golden Girls, yes, or the whole Mark
• 42:42
  Speaker 1: the Golden Girls.
• 42:44
Speaker 3: And I'm I'm sorry to interrupt, but you fall asleep
• 42:48
Speaker 3: to Big City Girl goes into the Country and Mary's
• 42:52
Speaker 3: the apple cider orchard owner that she went to high
• 42:56
Speaker 3: school with, or some pumpkin spice flavor of the Sometimes
• 43:00
Speaker 3: I fall asleep to that channel, Yes I do. But
• 43:04
Speaker 3: I wake up judging you so hard. I'm not even
• 43:10
Speaker 3: gonna be polite about it, man, Like.
• 43:13
Speaker 1: But I wake up the freezer, like, yeah, it's feel
• 43:16
  Speaker 1: good TV.
• 43:16
Speaker 4: But like, I mean, like Walmart, come I've been waiting for.
• 43:21
Speaker 1: But here's the thing I'm so used to that if
• 43:24
Speaker 1: I have the TV on all night, that's eating a bandwidth.
• 43:28
Speaker 1: So I mean, you know, whether I'm watching that or
• 43:31
Speaker 1: Comedy Central or whatever, I'm eating up the bandwidth. I'm
• 43:35
Speaker 1: thinking I'm gonna go through that pretty quick. So again,
• 43:38
Speaker 1: that's gonna be a big adjustment.
• 43:40
Speaker 4: How much you're paying now though.
• 43:42
Speaker 1: Two hundred and sixty eight dollars a month. Whoh yeah,
• 43:45
  Speaker 1: And I've got.
• 43:47
Speaker 3: I pay sixty five bucks a month for a century
• 43:50
Speaker 3: Link fiber coming directly into my house, gig up, gig down,
• 43:54
Speaker 3: and I have no caps.
• 43:56
Speaker 1: But do you watch you have any uh like television
• 43:58
Speaker 1: that come with that too? I don't need it.
• 44:02
Speaker 3: If I want television, I'll sign up for YouTube TV.
• 44:05
Speaker 3: And that's what I'm thinking, Yeah, YouTube tea. And I
• 44:09
Speaker 3: only sign up for YouTube TV for one very specific
• 44:12
Speaker 3: time of the year. And that specific time of the
• 44:15
Speaker 3: year is gloriously called football season.
• 44:18
Speaker 1: Ah yeah. See for me, it's October on Hallmark because
• 44:21
Speaker 1: that's when the holiday movies start appearing.
• 44:24
Speaker 4: We go, it's always going back to the Hallmark channel.
• 44:31
Speaker 3: Okay, and just like, can you just see him waving
• 44:34
Speaker 3: the red flag in front of me? Just like, oh Tooro,
• 44:39
Speaker 3: come on, I know you wanna.
• 44:42
Speaker 4: So so with the with Ting, here's I do have
• 44:44
Speaker 4: a question. And if you can't answer it now, Andy,
• 44:47
Speaker 4: it's cool because you're just getting you're considering or just
• 44:49
Speaker 4: getting started with them. I have had meetings with Ting,
• 44:52
Speaker 4: and Ting was purchased by two cows, right right right, okay,
• 44:56
Speaker 4: so I'm interested in finding out, you know later, probably
• 45:01
Speaker 4: your experiences with tying, the features all that stuff.
• 45:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, they're basically tearing up the street right now, putting
• 45:09
Speaker 1: in their fiber and they've already marked in my box
• 45:13
Speaker 1: they marked by the street, so they're going to be
• 45:15
Speaker 1: doing that. And they've got an introductory where you know,
• 45:18
Speaker 1: first month is free. Then after I think I want
• 45:20
Speaker 1: I'm not quite. I think it's like eighty five bucks
• 45:22
Speaker 1: a month, which is about half of what I'm paying
• 45:27
Speaker 1: right now just for that for the internet. And then
• 45:32
Speaker 1: you have to then you add if I switch to
• 45:34
Speaker 1: YouTube TV, I'm saving about one hundred bucks right there.
• 45:38
Speaker 1: So again and then there's certain deals. That's why I
• 45:41
Speaker 1: think He'sfinity is doing a lot of deals right now,
• 45:43
Speaker 1: as well as Cox Cable going to be doing deals
• 45:45
Speaker 1: to bundle services so that you stay with them, so
• 45:49
Speaker 1: you'll get a better deal because you know you're paying.
• 45:51
Speaker 1: You pay Hulu Disney sixteen seventeen bucks, you pay Netflix
• 45:55
Speaker 1: seventeen bucks. You know that all adds up.
• 46:00
Speaker 3: So it's the new Cox Communications discount. Please don't leave us. Yeah,
• 46:07
Speaker 3: but Andy, I did just check it for you. According
• 46:10
Speaker 3: to Gemini AI, there we go, looping back to AI
• 46:13
Speaker 3: and breaking my brain. Paying Internet does not impose data
• 46:17
Speaker 3: caps on its fiber Internet plans, and they do not
• 46:19
Speaker 3: have contracts or termination fees as they do not believe
• 46:23
  Speaker 3: in hidden fees.
• 46:24
Speaker 4: So you can come a go as you please on this.
• 46:27
  Speaker 3: That's what it looks like, and I mean, that's that's
• 46:29
Speaker 3: what I have with Century Link. I'm not locked into
• 46:31
  Speaker 3: a plan.
• 46:31
  Speaker 4: I am.
• 46:32
Speaker 3: When I signed up, I got a price lock for
• 46:35
Speaker 3: life guarantee as long as I'm there. It is sixty
• 46:39
Speaker 3: five bucks a month. Now, Central Link has started changing
• 46:42
Speaker 3: over to Quantum. I have not gotten looped into that yet,
• 46:46
Speaker 3: but from people in my neighborhood have cut over saying
• 46:48
Speaker 3: it's the same thing. It is, just it's splitting off.
• 46:51
Speaker 3: So Quantum is the fiber business and century Link spectrum
• 46:56
Speaker 3: that's the other side of the house, right, Yeah, it's
• 46:59
Speaker 3: it's you know, sixty five sixty seven bucks a month,
• 47:02
Speaker 3: come and go as you please, no data caps. The
• 47:06
Speaker 3: only thing that I hope they change is the way
• 47:10
Speaker 3: that your your modem authenticates to the divide to like
• 47:14
Speaker 3: the network. Is this technology called PPPoE right yea where
• 47:20
Speaker 3: your your stuff comes into your house with a v
• 47:22
Speaker 3: land tag and setting that up for like your own
• 47:25
Speaker 3: firewall and stuff is like there's a point where it's
• 47:28
Speaker 3: like I gotta call in, I gotta get my password,
• 47:31
Speaker 3: I got to break this drywall with my forehead, like
• 47:34
Speaker 3: I just I will eventually get this working. And then
• 47:38
Speaker 3: you know, three beers and six hours later you're like,
• 47:41
Speaker 3: you know what, their router's not that bad. That's fine,
• 47:43
Speaker 3: that's that works. I'll just throw in some access points
• 47:47
Speaker 3: in the house and call it a day.
• 47:48
Speaker 1: I'm done, you know what. That's And that's the thing
• 47:50
Speaker 1: with the cable companies, then the nickel and diming, and
• 47:53
Speaker 1: I you know, I have friends at work for for
• 47:55
Speaker 1: the big cable companies. And you know, I've I've appreciated
• 47:59
Speaker 1: the serve Us, but the nickel and diming. You know,
• 48:02
Speaker 1: you want a DVR box, you're gonna pay for that.
• 48:05
Speaker 1: For each box you want you have that's also a converter. Oh,
• 48:09
Speaker 1: you also gotta pay for the service for the DVR.
• 48:12
Speaker 1: You gotta pay taxes to the city. You gotta pay
• 48:14
Speaker 1: a sports tax, even though you maybe don't watch any
• 48:17
Speaker 1: sports channels. Uh, there's a lot of little things that
• 48:21
Speaker 1: when you look at your bill and you break it
• 48:22
Speaker 1: down and you just say, wow, this is just it's
• 48:24
Speaker 1: just a little crazy. And from what I understand, you
• 48:27
Speaker 1: go YouTube TV, you don't pay for that d V
• 48:29
Speaker 1: DVR service. It's part of the YouTube YouTube TV, you
• 48:33
Speaker 1: know feature, and you get local channels as well.
• 48:36
Speaker 3: Now I don't know, well, oh really mostly you get
• 48:41
  Speaker 3: your local channels.
• 48:43
Speaker 1: Oh well, now, what's what's gonna be better? Hulu TV
• 48:47
Speaker 1: that does local as well, or YouTube TV.
• 48:51
Speaker 4: Here's my problem because now that there's me TV Tunes
• 48:55
Speaker 4: right and that's on channel four point four, right, I
• 48:58
Speaker 4: want to the service I will consider will give me
• 49:02
Speaker 4: all of my digital subchannels, or I don't want you
• 49:05
Speaker 4: because I've got to have me TV tunes all right,
• 49:08
Speaker 4: got to and script news well, script news extreme right.
• 49:13
  Speaker 5: So I don't know.
• 49:13
Speaker 1: My main thing would be do you get Fox eleven
• 49:16
Speaker 1: because you know I'm on Fox eleven. I want to
• 49:19
Speaker 1: record myself on the DVR.
• 49:21
Speaker 3: I mean, I'm pretty sure with YouTube tv that you
• 49:24
Speaker 3: can just check it before you sign up. And the
• 49:27
Speaker 3: other thing is if you sign up for YouTube tv,
• 49:30
Speaker 3: you get a seven day free trial.
• 49:32
Speaker 4: I got two weeks.
• 49:34
Speaker 3: I got I got seven days because they caught me
• 49:37
Speaker 3: leaving and coming back and leaving and coming back, and
• 49:39
Speaker 3: they listen, man, either commit to the relationship or break
• 49:43
  Speaker 3: up with us.
• 49:43
Speaker 4: Now, I will commit to you.
• 49:46
Speaker 3: I will commit to you from August through February and
• 49:49
Speaker 3: then we're done. But that's the other great thing is
• 49:52
Speaker 3: YouTube tv now also has NFL Red Zone and NFL
• 49:57
Speaker 3: Sunday Ticket Perfect can actually bundle together. As my team
• 50:02
Speaker 3: is not in town, my wife's team is on the
• 50:05
Speaker 3: other side of the country. I was like, oh, so
• 50:08
Speaker 3: we can watch the Raiders Ravens game and fight here
• 50:11
Speaker 3: instead of it like.
• 50:12
Speaker 1: A sports bar. That's so much better for everybody. We
• 50:16
Speaker 1: got to take another quick break, we come back. We
• 50:18
Speaker 1: got more of tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Matt.
• 50:21
Speaker 4: Jones, and I am Sick. We're on ex tech talk
• 50:24
Speaker 4: Radio as well as Facebook. Look for tech talkers on Facebook.
• 50:27
Speaker 6: And now back to tech talk Radio.
• 50:30
Speaker 1: So we decided to well, we came back all of
• 50:32
Speaker 1: a sudden, Sean was able to come back, so we'd
• 50:35
Speaker 1: make it an all Sean segment of the show. What
• 50:37
Speaker 1: do you think, Matt slick?
• 50:39
  Speaker 3: We do it.
• 50:40
  Speaker 4: It's the segments.
• 50:41
Speaker 5: So drones are wise your pick and wise no. So
• 50:48
Speaker 5: I'll take one of the listener questions because you guys. Earlier,
• 50:51
Speaker 5: Mikey sent us a note via Facebook asking is a
• 50:56
Speaker 5: four core three point four gig processor, sir, than a
• 51:01
Speaker 5: fourteen cores two point four gigaharts processor. He's getting a
• 51:05
Speaker 5: system together to create some music and wasn't sure what
• 51:08
Speaker 5: to think. So that's a loaded question because one is
• 51:14
Speaker 5: fast in its own right and the other one is
• 51:16
Speaker 5: fast in its own right also, So you have to
• 51:18
Speaker 5: look at it like this, right, you have four cores.
• 51:22
Speaker 5: If you have four cores, there are four lays I
• 51:24
Speaker 5: think of think of like traffic lanes. Right, there's more
• 51:26
Speaker 5: traffic could go across those four lanes. But they can
• 51:30
Speaker 5: go at three point four gigahart.
• 51:31
Speaker 1: Speed, so they go at a higher speed.
• 51:33
Speaker 5: Yeah, So you're if you're doing a ton of audio
• 51:36
Speaker 5: editing with tons of instruments and tons of post processing
• 51:40
Speaker 5: and tons of effects and tons of plugins, right, you're
• 51:42
Speaker 5: gonna jam up those four lanes, right. But if you
• 51:47
Speaker 5: add ten more lanes of traffic but they go slightly slower,
• 51:52
Speaker 5: you're gonna be able to process a lot more information
• 51:54
Speaker 5: at the same time. It's just you're not gonna see
• 51:58
Speaker 5: too much of an impact from a two point four
• 52:00
Speaker 5: to three point four gig. So it all depends on
• 52:03
Speaker 5: what you're trying to do.
• 52:05
Speaker 1: Oh boy, creating music though that there's going to be
• 52:08
Speaker 1: a lot of different different things that are going to
• 52:10
Speaker 1: be a part of that.
• 52:11
Speaker 5: Right, So if I were to pick, I would pick
• 52:14
Speaker 5: the one of the fourteen course because it's going to
• 52:16
Speaker 5: allow you to do more across If you have a
• 52:21
Speaker 5: digital audio you know, a daw a digital audio work station,
• 52:23
Speaker 5: and you're running a ton of plugins, right, this is
• 52:27
Speaker 5: going to help you not bottlenanking machine.
• 52:30
Speaker 1: All right, But all right, well, what if you could
• 52:32
Speaker 1: overclock that two point Because a lot of people they
• 52:35
Speaker 1: forget about overclocking. If you could overclock the three point four,
• 52:39
Speaker 1: or you overclock the two point four to make it
• 52:41
Speaker 1: of a three gigor Hurtz processor, you'd be in pretty
• 52:45
Speaker 1: good shape with that one, wouldn't you.
• 52:47
Speaker 5: Yeah, overclocking the two point four probably to three or
• 52:50
Speaker 5: three point two would probably benefit you. Uh, you just
• 52:54
Speaker 5: have to at that point worry about the heat. You know,
• 52:58
Speaker 5: you have to worry about your cooling. So hopefully that
• 53:01
Speaker 5: answers Mikey's question. Opening the floor to you guys.
• 53:04
Speaker 4: To let you know. Yeah, not a fan of overclocking,
• 53:07
Speaker 4: but I will say this because I've dealt with this
• 53:09
Speaker 4: a little bit in the past. Depending on what software
• 53:13
Speaker 4: you're using, check to see what they recommend in regards
• 53:17
Speaker 4: to hardware, because sometimes you'll be using software. Let's say
• 53:20
Speaker 4: you have fourteen cores, You'll using software that only takes
• 53:23
  Speaker 4: advantage of six.
• 53:24
Speaker 1: Oh okay, good point.
• 53:26
Speaker 4: It's happened all right.
• 53:27
Speaker 3: From my side, I'm on the opposite side of the fences, Slake,
• 53:30
Speaker 3: I've overclocked every machine I've had since I think like
• 53:32
Speaker 3: two thousand and six. In terms of heat care for
• 53:38
Speaker 3: your CPU, it used to be doing a liquid cooling
• 53:41
Speaker 3: solution was super expensive super involved. Now you can get
• 53:45
Speaker 3: the with they're called AIO all in one liquid coolers
• 53:49
  Speaker 3: and it's a what's called a closed loop system, so
• 53:52
Speaker 3: it's just it comes in a box. It's got the
• 53:55
Speaker 3: part that you set the heat sinc That you set
• 53:57
Speaker 3: on top of your processor, just like anything else, and
• 54:00
Speaker 3: then there's two little raided tubes coming out of it
• 54:03
Speaker 3: that run to a radiator that most towers now have
• 54:06
Speaker 3: a space built in for three fins. Two or three
• 54:10
Speaker 3: fins usually go on top of that, and you've got
• 54:12
Speaker 3: a liquid cooling system that will easily take care of
• 54:15
Speaker 3: the heat concerns from overclocking. If you're in a laptop,
• 54:19
Speaker 3: that's a completely different kettle of fish, and you have
• 54:21
Speaker 3: to be careful with overclocking there because laptops natively are
• 54:25
Speaker 3: not going to be as irmly regulatable as a tower,
• 54:29
Speaker 3: and there is a chance you could cook something if
• 54:32
  Speaker 3: you're not careful.
• 54:33
Speaker 1: You burn your legs too. You don't want to.
• 54:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why for the longest time, Apple stopped referring
• 54:40
Speaker 3: to MacBook pros as laptops and as mobile computers because
• 54:44
Speaker 3: they did not want you to put them on your
• 54:46
Speaker 3: lap because you would burn your lap.
• 54:49
Speaker 1: Don't do that, all right, listen we missing. We have
• 54:52
Speaker 1: run out of time for this week. Thank you so
• 54:54
Speaker 1: much for tuning again, and hopefully you'll be able to
• 54:56
Speaker 1: get with us next week. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean
• 54:59
  Speaker 1: de Weird.
• 55:00
Speaker 4: I'm not Jones, then, I am Slick. Tech Talk Radio
• 55:03
Speaker 4: dot com is the website. Thank you.
• 55:07
  Speaker 1: M
