Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Your chance to win a lot of things here at
- 0:02Speaker 1: Light FM, including 500 bucks. We'll do that around 810
- 0:05Speaker 1: this morning. But if you woke up in a bad mood,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Christine is going to tell us how you can turn
- 0:10Speaker 1: that mood around.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Oh, you turn that frown upside down. No, I'm not
- 0:14Speaker 2: going to be sickly sweet, I promise.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Because that'll make it worse.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And I'm hoping we put people in a good mood
- 0:19Speaker 1: with our music and our just, you know, random conversations.
- 0:23Speaker 3: But sometimes you just wake up grumpy.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you do. And mental health experts say it's okay.
- 0:28Speaker 2: It happens. And they are not trying to like flip
- 0:30Speaker 2: it and make it completely positive.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Good.
- 0:33Speaker 2: But they say they're just trying to like give you
- 0:35Speaker 2: a moment that might shift things.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:39Speaker 2: So there's little things you can do that might help
- 0:42Speaker 2: your bad mood. You wake up on the wrong side
- 0:44Speaker 2: of the bed. You literally make the bed. A quick
- 0:47Speaker 2: accomplishment first thing can create momentum for the rest of
- 0:50Speaker 2: the day.
- 0:51Speaker 3: That's very true.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I mean, you don't want to do it, but you like, well,
- 0:54Speaker 1: I always make my bed. Well, if I'm there, I'm usually,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but I, Sometimes you just don't want to, but if
- 1:00Speaker 1: you can just do it, boom, it'll go a long way.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yes. You cook a familiar meal. Repetitive tasks like chopping
- 1:07Speaker 2: and stirring can feel calming. A lot of people do
- 1:09Speaker 2: feel calm preparing food. It also feels like an accomplishment.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Like you said, eat consistently because you want to keep
- 1:17Speaker 2: your blood sugar steady so you don't get hangry.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Oh, I can do that. You know, I love eating consistently.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Me too.
- 1:24Speaker 3: And sitting consistently. Sitting and eating consistently. I love it.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We got to get up and move, Cubby. Just every
- 1:30Speaker 2: now and then we got to. Have a warm drink, coffee, tea,
- 1:33Speaker 2: hot chocolate that can create a sense of comfort. It
- 1:36Speaker 2: actually helps your body relax. Like it's great for the
- 1:38Speaker 2: nervous system.
- 1:38Speaker 3: A hotty toddy.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And sit and eat.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And sit and eat and don't move. Sitting and eating.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Rewatch a favorite show or movie. Anything familiar, predictable soothes
- 1:52Speaker 2: you because your brain already knows what's coming.
- 1:54Speaker 3: You know, it's funny.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I had an hour to myself yesterday alone at the
- 1:57Speaker 1: house and I was on my laptop doing some bill
- 2:01Speaker 1: paying and had different strokes on.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I knew we were going to end up with different strokes.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I knew we were going there.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I felt joy.
- 2:07Speaker 2: That's your show.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Play uplifting music.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Even just one upbeat song can shift your emotional state.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Eat consistently.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Smell something pleasant. Like vanilla or rosemary can give your
- 2:22Speaker 2: brain something positive to focus on. And finally, and this
- 2:24Speaker 2: is a little harsh for me, but okay, splash your
- 2:27Speaker 2: face with cold water. It activates the body's calming rest
- 2:31Speaker 2: and digest response.
- 2:33Speaker 1: You know, one thing you, like you didn't mention that
- 2:35Speaker 1: I thought would be on the list, because everything you
- 2:37Speaker 1: mentioned has to do within the house. Like it's all
- 2:41Speaker 1: in the house.
- 2:42Speaker 2: True.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Sometimes if you're in a grumpy mood, and I've done
- 2:45Speaker 3: this before.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 3: You take a different way to work. I drive a
- 2:48Speaker 3: different way to work. Oh, okay. Just a subtle different way.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Not a drastic difference. Yeah. But your mind is looking
- 2:56Speaker 3: at different things.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Thinking of different things.
- 2:58Speaker 2: That's why we love going to different cities and new places.
- 3:01Speaker 2: The discovery is wonderful. I thought you were going to say,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you know, go out and take a walk because usually
- 3:06Speaker 2: the experts will say that. They get into nature for
- 3:09Speaker 2: a few minutes. But again, you don't believe in moving.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I eat consistently and sit consistently. If possible. Light FM.
