- speaker-0: And she said, No, I just need to tell you, your children know that you love them. And I was like, ⁓ I just wept because I didn't even know it was a problem. I I mean it was like part of my fabric, but I had never even enunciated it out loud. speaker-1: Very familiar. I've read a lot of books about healing and about how to truly renew our minds. You know, I'm part of a ministry. I disciple other, you know, I've been discipling a ton of young adults recently, helping them to work through their story and through their pain and kind of reframe it with God's truth. But what I thought was so beautiful about your book is you took your the art of being an author, the art of telling a story and really worked that together. Into this book. And so what was interesting is that I'm very familiar with the hero's story, like the hero's journey. And usually I think I see it on a straight timeline. And so when you put it as a circle, I was like, and then the arrow went back around. I was like, wait a minute, but because that's been hard for me as a Christian, is like, okay, I was saved at 15, I am healed, I am renewed, I am walking in the Lord. Why am I still struggling? And you know, we hear the stories about like, you know. The hero journey. It's like Star Wars, right? You've got Luke and he figures it out at the end. But then you forget that, well, there's a Star Wars part two and part three. And like heaven forbid our life look like Rocky, right? We'll have like twelve it's twelve different journeys. But how does that work as far as ⁓ like how can you help the mom that was like me for so long who was stuck with like, why can't I just be healed and stay healed and stop feeling like I'm repeating the pattern and like these we have, I think you called them, is it ⁓ the incidents, the in speaker-0: Yeah. Pain points and all that. Yes. speaker-1: Exactly. So share about that a little. speaker-0: Well, I think it as you were talking, that it kind of occurred to me that, you know, we do like to look at this trajectory that's you know, we're always just going north. But if you look at the spiral and the the hero's journey, if you look at it as a whirlwind going up, then you are augmenting, you are growing, but ⁓ you are just growing in different ways. And the Lord will bring you back around to the same issue. But a different layer of it. And so then you go around and then you go around. An example might be I was very worried that my children didn't know that I loved them. And because I didn't know that I was loved. And I had to force my mom to hug me. And my dad was a predator and it was all icky. And so I ⁓ talk about compensation. ⁓ I just chased my children and yelled, you yelled, I love you, I love you, I love you all the time. And they were like, my mom is super psycho. But thankfully the Lord was so good and he brought a friend to my life during this time when my kids were under the age of five. And she just spent time with our family for a week. And I didn't even know that this was a pain inside of me. She just came up to me at the end and she says, I feel like the Lord wants to say something to you. And of course I'm preparing myself for I'm a terrible mother and I I'm awful. You know, because that's where my head goes. You know, I'm always going down into the doldrums and circling the toilet bowl in the opposite direction. And she said, No, I just need to tell you, your children know that you love them. And I was like, ⁓ I just wept because I didn't even know it was a problem. I I mean it was like part of my fabric, but I had never even enunciated it out loud. And and so that issue, do my children know that I love them? I mean, it just continues. And when they became adult children, I had an opportunity to exercise that muscle in a different way. And I got to show with show them that I love them and they know that I love them and they're in their 20s and 30s. So I think that's more of like if we can just view the model as a cyclical going northward rather than This kind of like halting back and forth, it it may be more helpful for us as a diagram. speaker-1: Yeah, because I feel like I felt like a failure. Each time something new would come up, I felt like a failure. And so it was just so but I like that. I'm still being transformed. I'm being say like sanctification does not full sanctification doesn't come till heaven. Yeah. But we are on this sanctification journey and it's it's a tough road. speaker-2: This episode of Homeschool Insights is brought to you by BJU Press Homeschool, CTC Math, and the Explorer Bible for Kids.
