Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar fans, welcome in to Duval, daily presented by Gen. Jag.com.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's Friday, March 6.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, we are talking about the Jaguars making some money moves.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: This is, you know, very expected, absolutely, expected the Jaguars to have some news today on the Salary cap front, and that's what we're seeing.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: There could be a lot of news today from the Jacksonville Jaguars, but so far, what we have from SpotRack,
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: is the Jaguar's restructuring a couple contracts.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: They have clear paths to restructure a lot more contract, basic restructures.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: They don't even have to negotiate or deal with the agents or anything like that.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's very simple restructures.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: There's a bunch of those.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna dive into it.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: You can also check out jinghack.com.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up some new Duval gear like the hat I am wearing.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: right now, I'll support the channel look good while doing it.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: So the jacks converted $9.2 million of Patrick McCarrie's salary into signing bonus, adding three void years, clearing $7.36 million of cap space.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Very simple operation there.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: All you're doing is
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: and adding three void-years.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is what we've been talking about all off season with these guys.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: So that clears $7.36 million of cap space.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: They also converted $4.2 million of Eric Murray's 2026 salary into signing bonus and adding three void-years, clearing $3.36 million of cap space.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I know everybody can kind of get
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: uptight about void years, look, the cap is rising and these void years are going to be negligible against the cap in the future.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be a big deal.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone, these guys, they know exactly what they're doing.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: They know how this works, they know how to operate an NFL organization.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: So the Jaguar is effectively cleared 10.72 million in cap space this morning.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think more is to come, absolutely, they can make cuts as well, to save some money, like the guys that I personally have been eyeing as real potential cut candidates, Chuma Adoga.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars would save 2.876 million against the cat by cutting Tuma Adoga.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: To me, he is like the weakest link on your offensive line.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: You could easily upgrade that cheaper via the draft.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's my thinking on that.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then a guy like Johnny Month who, again, I just, I want more, I want more.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Quinn Morris is back.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Britain strangers, you're tied in one.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: I want more at the tight end spot.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars could save $2.7 million by cutting Johnny Mutt with only 500,000 in dead cap.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: So pretty good deal there.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm into that.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Hunter Long, I don't know that you want to cut two tight ends.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that you want to go down that road.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: but he would save you 1.3 million, 1.38 million with 1.37 and dead money.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: So it makes more sense money-wise to cut Johnny Munt.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Look, nothing personal.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: Just about managing the salary cap with these guys, right?
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: So those are big candidates for me.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about Post June 1 cuts, which the Jaguars could get into that world as well, there's a number of players that make sense, but you do not get that salary cap relief until after June 1st.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: So it does not help you with the initial wave of free agency, but it could help you execute trades.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: It could help you sign your draft class.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: There is value to it, right?
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Armstrong would save the Jaguars 14.48 million dollars
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: That seems possible, right?
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: Personally, I want the Jaguars to be going all in on their defensive line.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I think having Eric Armstrong still helps you win football games as a rotational player, expensive rotational player.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, it's cost to do a business.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: And this regime is not who side Eric Armstrong, right?
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: A foe, a luchin.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: They could save $10.25 million as a post-union one cut.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: I ain't cutting for you.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: No chance in hell.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm cutting for you, Luke.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Not doing it.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Hamilton, they could save 8.4 as a post-union one cut.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: As a Cleveland, they could save 9.2 as a post-union one cut.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the ones that really kind of make a lot of sense.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I would like to keep all those guys.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: Um, as far as, other cap saving moves, the Jaguars could make the Jaguars could convert a lot of Trevor Lawrence's salary to signing bonus and ad void years and get that cap number way down.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: They could do the same thing with Josh Heinz Allen.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, as we're sitting here talking, I do make sure that there's no new money moves being made by James Gladstone company.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: The Rams extended Cam Curl really good player.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see here.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, nothing else yet coming down the pike for the Jaguars, but I think that there will be more.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: with several players, do the same thing that they've done with Patrick McAerry and Eric Murray.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's a bunch of guys on the list.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: We don't need to go through every single one of them, but there's more than a handful of players the Jaguars can convert salary to signing bonus, add void years, clear cap space for 2026, give themselves some flexibility to bring in free agents,
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: to do whatever, right?
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: That they can create the flexibility.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: And people talk about Walker little as well, quite a bit.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Walker little, you can't cut him.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: And well, I should say this.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: It does not help you from a financial standpoint to cut him.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: It also does not help you on the field to cut him, because I think he is, as much as no one wants him on the field as a starter for the Jaguar this year, I think he proved he is a good and versatile backup at Tackle and Guard.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I really like some of what he put out there at guard this year.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe someone would trade for him.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there are teams that are desperate for offensive line play.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Look at the Cleveland Browns.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: But I think you look at Devon Hamilton as a Cleveland.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: These are guys that the Jack Wars can convert
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: Boy A as well, Eric Armstead as well.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: So like all the guys that could be post-June one candidates could also be restructure candidates.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: And that's real simple execution type stuff.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence and Josh Hines Allen, it's bigger numbers.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think you'd actually have to go and like work that out with their representation.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: But there's no reason to not.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: agreed to do things like that to help the football team.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't hurt you, money-wise at all.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's where we're at.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar started to make money moves getting ready for free agency.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: It kicks off really on Monday, March 9th, legal tampering period opens.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: You can officially agree to trades and signing players and all that good stuff on Wednesday, March 11th.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: So, it's going to be a very exciting week, just seeing what the Jaguar has have cooking.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think the James Lads Stone is going to get something done that surprises people.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be aggressive.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: And so, yeah, I'm ready for it.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: Here for it, ready for it.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Want the Jaguar to be all in for 2026.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: You can be all in for 2026 without really negatively impacting your future, 2027 and beyond, as well.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see, really appreciate y'all being here.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
