• 1:10
Speaker 1: Um, all right, um, I wanted to talk about.
• 1:13
Speaker 1: This is a story, mr mars.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Mr mars and I talked all week.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: We were trying to find a car club out there in the la area that could address.
• 1:22
Speaker 1: But now we know that all of these people have lost thousands of homes.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: Loss of life is continuing to climb, with over two dozen now dead because of the fires.
• 1:33
Speaker 1: The views that we see on television just horrific.
• 1:36
  Speaker 1: Can't even imagine.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: All of that gone.
• 1:40
Speaker 1: Pacific Palisades, a beautiful area, all of these different neighborhoods gone because of these fires.
• 1:46
Speaker 1: But so we started thinking, because we are a car show, we started thinking okay, well, in that debris that you know, there are people out there, especially in Malibu, that got burnt off the map, that they have some nice collector cars.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: What's happened to those cars?
• 2:03
Speaker 1: Do they have insurance?
• 2:03
Speaker 1: Is the car gone?
• 2:04
Speaker 1: Did they store it?
• 2:04
Speaker 1: Those cars Do they have insurance?
• 2:05
Speaker 1: Is the car gone?
• 2:05
Speaker 1: Did they store it somewhere else?
• 2:07
Speaker 3: Did they move it?
• 2:07
Speaker 3: Did they store it?
• 2:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't know.
• 2:09
Speaker 1: We're going to talk to actually try to get a hold of Jay Leno, but everybody's so busy out there it's really difficult yeah.
• 2:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, and there's one.
• 2:26
Speaker 4: Jack Nereid put me on to a small regional museum out there that a lot of the car clubs use.
• 2:28
Speaker 4: He's been out to events down there at it.
• 2:30
Speaker 4: They're open on the weekends only and they're south of the fire, south of Jack actually, but I haven't got a hold of them yet.
• 2:35
Speaker 4: But I'm thinking that maybe in a couple of weeks, if we can schedule them in, they'll have a little bit better idea of some of the stories.
• 2:41
Speaker 3: Well, on their timeline too because they're still.
• 2:48
  Speaker 4: You know.
• 2:48
  Speaker 4: Well, that's it.
• 2:49
Speaker 4: I mean you can see some of the news shows.
• 2:50
Speaker 4: You know there's a mustang over there, that's just a burnt hulk.
• 2:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, and, and I saw a deal, they were talking about a camaro that was parked on the side of the street for some reason it the fire burned around it, you know it.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: Just all kinds of stories yeah, well, I I think back on um, and I don't remember who it was.
• 3:05
Speaker 1: Greg Enders had a shop that he was using and I went to visit him at the shop and in there was a beautiful 69 Camaro Z28, which is my holy grail of a car, you know that and it's had the original original um dz motor in it.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: Everything was all original and, uh, it got caught up in the harvey floods and it was completely totaled.
• 3:32
  Speaker 1: And they were.
• 3:33
Speaker 1: They had bought it with the salvage title, bought it back with the salvage title and they were going to fix it all up.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: They were in the process of taking off the vinyl roof on it, had a lot of options on it, they were going to restore it back to the way it originally was.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: But because it's got a salvaged title now, it's lost all of this value because it was all original Z28.
• 3:54
Speaker 1: And think of this the car that we're talking about in California burnt up.
• 4:01
Speaker 1: Most of those cars, if they're burnt up up, there's no way to restore any part of that because the fire absolutely warps every piece of sheet metal on it everything is gone, everything and um, I I can't even imagine, you know, that may be something that we could look at next week and talk to hagerty or that other car collector, car collector insurer and find out what they know and see how.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: Maybe it's just a different angle of the story.
• 4:31
  Speaker 3: I don't know.
• 4:31
Speaker 3: Is it Davida that we have on?
• 4:33
Speaker 4: Divya yeah, it should be on next week, Divya yeah, yeah, good.
• 4:37
Speaker 1: So anyway, here's another follow-up to that.
• 4:39
Speaker 1: A debris removal following the deadly fires in SoCal will be made more complicated by the area's plentiful electric vehicle batteries and other lithium-ion cells.
• 4:50
Speaker 1: According to Governor Gavin Newsom, it's a little different world now today with batteries not just car batteries but battery packs, people with solar, those Tesla wall batteries and the like solar, those Tesla wall batteries and the like he said during an interview with CNN.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: Of course it was a CNN.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: The hazmat side of it made it a little bit more complicated.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: He says we're going to work through it.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: As of May, california claimed 34% of all new zero emission vehicle sales in the US.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: According to the California Air Resources Board, the prevalence of EVs in the state poses a challenge for first responders and others removing the rubble.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: While fires and combustion engines vehicles are much more common, evs have unique qualities that make their fires difficult to extinguish for one.
• 5:39
Speaker 1: And then what do you do with them after they've burned?
• 5:41
  Speaker 3: up.
• 5:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, and that was a question we talked about a couple weeks ago when this was going on that the batteries are a hazmat situation.
• 5:48
Speaker 3: If you have a Tesla or an electric car on fire, the fire department has to handle that different than, say, a structure fire or another, Well, other risks include chemical burns from hydrofluoric acid and internal ones from inhalation of hydrogen fluoride.
• 6:05
Speaker 1: So that's a whole other thing that I mean we could talk to a fire department person that has knowledge in that.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: But I just thought I'd mention that because clearly that is a huge, huge story that they're all dealing with out there and we're also feeling the pain because we know what kind of pain those kind of disasters can have, especially after the floods and hurricanes that we have around these parts.
• 6:29
Speaker 1: We do have one recall to tell you about Nissan.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: Just one, just one this week.
• 6:34
Speaker 1: Wow, I know, I don't know what happened.
• 6:36
Speaker 1: Well, I guess, because everybody's preparing for Trump's inauguration on Monday, they said ah, never mind, we're good, here's one.
• 6:44
Speaker 1: Nissan Kicks for 2025, unexpected vehicle movement.
• 6:47
Speaker 1: What Unexpected vehicle movement.
• 6:52
Speaker 1: You've had that with your bowels before.
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: I've had that.
• 6:55
Speaker 1: Yes, I have, but this happens to be the Nissan Kicks for 2025.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: You get your kicks on Route 66.
• 7:02
Speaker 1: There you go, or I think that there was a dave clark five song called kicks.
• 7:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you forgot about that paul revere.
• 7:11
Speaker 1: That was way before my time I know it was it's way before everybody's time, but just my answer to that is never mind hogwash, yeah, all right.
• 7:20
Speaker 1: So we, we have this little thing that we do.
• 7:23
Speaker 1: By the way, those stories that we presented were courtesy of Automotive News, and this particular segment is from Hemmings, hemmingscom, and this is Hemmings' Sold Car Weekly Roundup, and we play this little game for the boys to play and you get home it gives you an insight into their knowledge of automobile.
• 7:46
  Speaker 1: Dumb boy.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: We're going to start off with one that, uh, is common to us older folks a 1970 ford torino cobra.
• 7:58
  Speaker 1: 1970 ford torobra.
• 8:03
Speaker 1: Talk to me, okay, I know.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: And it's petty blue and it's got the black hood with the scoop on the front of it.
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: It looks stock.
• 8:12
Speaker 1: There's white leather tires on it.
• 8:14
  Speaker 1: It looks good.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: What kind of wheels?
• 8:16
Speaker 1: Factory wheels, factory wheels.
• 8:17
Speaker 1: Oh boy, yeah, I know.
• 8:19
Speaker 1: So a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra.
• 8:21
Speaker 1: How much do you think that that sold for with?
• 8:26
Speaker 4: this online auction thing, $79,000 what comes to mind?
• 8:29
  Speaker 4: $79,000, okay $79,000?
• 8:31
  Speaker 4: .
• 8:31
Speaker 3: Really, jeff, I'm going to go $32,000.
• 8:34
Speaker 1: Okay, well, somewhere in the middle is where it sold $47,250.
• 8:39
Speaker 3: Let me see it.
• 8:39
Speaker 3: Let me see it.
• 8:41
Speaker 3: I'm going to let you see it.
• 8:41
Speaker 3: All right, and the next one.
• 8:42
Speaker 3: No, there, it is right there.
• 8:43
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's gorgeous.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: It is Kind of like Petty Blue.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: I don't remember Ford had its own name for it, but it was that kind of mid-level blue.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: Cool, okay, here's one for Grandpa.
• 8:56
Speaker 1: Okay, we're all, grandpa, I'll let you have this car.
• 9:02
Speaker 1: It's even got the big sunshade over the front window.
• 9:04
  Speaker 1: 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop with a I don't know mid-level green and a white top.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: It looks completely stock and it looks like it's been restored or very well kept.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: Let me put it that way A 54 Chevy Bel Air.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: So I'm thinking a 235 blue flame, six cylinder with a three speed on the column.
• 9:29
  Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking now.
• 9:30
Speaker 1: I don't know, I didn't delve that deeply into it, but that kind of has that thing to it.
• 9:36
Speaker 1: You know, it just kind of screams 31, 31 for jeff.
• 9:40
Speaker 1: 54 chevy bel air.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: Come on, I saw what I would say.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: I saw one of them that was like 19, 19, well, mars, 51 for Jeff 54, chevy Bel Air.
• 9:45
Speaker 1: Come on, I saw one I saw one of them, I'm going to say 19.
• 9:48
  Speaker 4: 19.
• 9:48
  Speaker 4: Well, mars 18, 480.
• 9:51
Speaker 4: Oh, look at you big boy For the 54, it's just not that popular.
• 9:54
Speaker 4: Correct, there it is, you tell them.
• 9:57
Speaker 4: Heitzman said 21, so he doesn't even count.
• 10:00
Speaker 4: Then he's not even close.
• 10:02
Speaker 3: He's playing along, so we're gonna stay, thank you jeffrey, we're gonna stay in the same vein.
• 10:05
Speaker 1: 1954 okay, I remember it well, not 54.
• 10:13
Speaker 1: You were in college back then.
• 10:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, this now, this does not have the wood paneling on it, but it's a 54.
• 10:19
Speaker 3: Chevrolet 210 which is a which is a station wagon.
• 10:24
Speaker 1: Four four-door station wagon.
• 10:25
Speaker 1: I'll let you see it.
• 10:27
Speaker 1: Okay, right there, that's gorgeous.
• 10:31
Speaker 3: It is, but it's green.
• 10:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's okay, it's like you know forest green.
• 10:35
  Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a two-tone green?
• 10:36
  Speaker 4: I think.
• 10:36
  Speaker 4: No, it's not a two-tone.
• 10:39
Speaker 1: It's a light, it's just a light tone, it's just kind of a mediocre green, wide whites on it.
• 10:43
Speaker 1: It looks completely stock and it's in a warehouse so somebody's taking care of it.
• 10:48
  Speaker 1: $25,000.
• 10:50
  Speaker 4: $100,000 or $1,000,000?
• 10:52
  Speaker 1: $1,000,000.
• 10:53
  Speaker 1: $25,000.
• 10:54
Speaker 1: What do you say?
• 10:55
Speaker 4: No, I'm going to stay down.
• 10:56
  Speaker 4: Heitzman says $16,000.
• 10:57
Speaker 4: I'm going to stay.
• 10:59
Speaker 4: Still around that $18,000.
• 11:10
  Speaker 1: I'm going to say $ that 18 night, I'm gonna say 19, 17 732.
• 11:12
Speaker 1: So 1954 is a great year.
• 11:13
Speaker 1: See, if you're gonna, if you're gonna have one of these, you would want the manual transmission because it gives you an extra gear that you didn't have with the automatic, because you only had two speeds.
• 11:17
Speaker 1: Slush-o-matic no just pro mod it, no, no no, no, no, no.
• 11:22
Speaker 4: I had my uncle in Oklahoma.
• 11:24
Speaker 4: He buys and sells some cars and stuff.
• 11:26
Speaker 4: He had a Rambler, two-door station wagon, rambler.
• 11:29
Speaker 4: I don't remember what year it was.
• 11:31
  Speaker 1: A Nash Rambler?
• 11:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, he was looking for somebody to restore it, because there was so much of it there and I thought, man, this would make a great tubbit and all that stuff.
• 11:41
Speaker 4: He said, no, you can't have it tub it and all that stuff.
• 11:43
Speaker 4: He said no, you can't have it.
• 11:44
Speaker 4: He said there's too much there that can be restored.
• 11:46
  Speaker 1: Somebody restore it.
• 11:47
Speaker 1: But you know, on the other hand too, you're either one of those kind of guys that's going to restore something like that or go.
• 11:55
Speaker 1: You know, I don't know if I want to restore it, I want to make it a driver.
• 11:57
Speaker 1: Right, you restore it and you put all this money in the restoration.
• 12:01
Speaker 1: Now it becomes a trailer queen for the most part.
• 12:05
Speaker 3: No, you won't go to that extreme.
• 12:06
  Speaker 3: That right there.
• 12:07
Speaker 3: I'd keep the stock wheels, update the tires, obviously to a new rubber, keep the same configuration with the wide whites, put a new transmission, put an LS in it, make the air cold inside.
• 12:19
Speaker 3: That's what I would do to it, kind of like Woody's Pontiac yeah.
• 12:24
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 12:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you update it.
• 12:25
Speaker 1: Make it a resto, mod Resto mod.
• 12:28
Speaker 4: There you go, right, put a.
• 12:29
Speaker 1: V8 under the hood with a modern transmission Keep the color Air conditioning.
• 12:33
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 12:33
Speaker 1: Leave the interior stock if that's what you want to do.
• 12:37
Speaker 3: And whatever patina's on it, yeah.
• 12:40
  Speaker 1: I'm.
• 12:40
Speaker 1: That would be the cheap way to go and you could drive it.
• 12:42
Speaker 3: And that makes it 25, so I win.
• 12:44
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 12:45
Speaker 3: It makes it a lot more than 25.
• 12:47
Speaker 1: Okay, here we go.
• 12:47
  Speaker 1: A 2016 Dodge Challenger.
• 12:53
Speaker 1: Now this car is basically 10 years old.
• 12:56
  Speaker 1: Yeah, a 2016 Dodge Challenger.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: This looks like it's a Hellcat.
• 13:02
Speaker 1: Probably a Hellcat, because it's got great big, huge red brake calipers on it.
• 13:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, but it could be an RT.
• 13:12
Speaker 1: Well, I don't know all of that, okay, yeah, well, it makes about probably a $40,000 difference.
• 13:19
Speaker 4: Okay, let's go with.
• 13:20
Speaker 4: I'll go with 28, on the premise that it's not a Hellcat.
• 13:28
  Speaker 3: I went 18.
• 13:29
Speaker 1: Well, both of you are wrong, but actually you kind of hinted at it because this one was $44,100.
• 13:37
Speaker 1: So you took one of your first intuitions.
• 13:40
Speaker 1: Your first thought was that Okay, here's one that I would love love, love to have.
• 13:46
  Speaker 1: Here's a 1932 Ford.
• 13:49
Speaker 1: Obviously you know it's a hot rod.
• 13:52
Speaker 1: Right it looks good.
• 13:54
Speaker 1: No fenders on it, it's black, I assume Channeled coupe or roadster.
• 13:58
Speaker 1: It's channeled and it looks like it's chopped too.
• 14:01
Speaker 1: Ooh, chopped and channeled 32 Ford Black on black.
• 14:07
Speaker 3: I'm going to go a dollar per year, $32,000.
• 14:09
Speaker 4: Is the engine hanging?
• 14:10
Speaker 1: out of the hood.
• 14:10
Speaker 1: It's not hanging out, but it's got the top of the hood on it, but the sides are rising.
• 14:16
Speaker 4: It's got headers on it, so it's not some big 454 blown up.
• 14:18
  Speaker 4: No, no, no.
• 14:19
  Speaker 4: What we see?
• 14:20
  Speaker 3: at the garage.
• 14:22
Speaker 3: The guys that bring out the garage at Lupe, remember they bring out their 32s.
• 14:26
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 14:27
Speaker 4: That's kind of what I'm thinking.
• 14:29
  Speaker 4: I would go.
• 14:30
  Speaker 4: If it's a California car, I'd say 44.
• 14:34
  Speaker 1: I went 32.
• 14:35
Speaker 1: 39, none, split it, yep.
• 14:39
Speaker 4: So you guys were close.
• 14:40
  Speaker 4: I said 29.
• 14:41
Speaker 4: Candice says that you can just buy whichever one you want don just pick one.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, go for the cobra.
• 14:49
Speaker 1: Good, jeff, this is yours, buddy, all right, here's a 1954 hudson hornet convertible red with a black top and wide whites.
• 15:02
Speaker 1: Oh, that's not factory, that, no, it's not factory.
• 15:05
Speaker 1: I want you to, I want you to see it there it is right there, it is.
• 15:09
  Speaker 4: It's not factory.
• 15:10
Speaker 4: No, it's not convertible now.
• 15:12
Speaker 1: Well, they may have made a convertible, but it wasn't in that color combination, okay it was.
• 15:16
Speaker 4: The red is what I'm talking about, and this even has wire wheels.
• 15:19
Speaker 1: It looks like wire cadillac wheels so it's just been updated.
• 15:22
Speaker 3: yeah, yeah, it's a Restomod, it could be a.
• 15:24
  Speaker 3: Restomod.
• 15:24
  Speaker 1: It could be.
• 15:24
Speaker 1: So what do you think something like that was?
• 15:27
Speaker 1: And I will tell you, based on the price that I'm looking at here, that it sold at, it's got to be a Restomod 41.
• 15:33
  Speaker 3: 41.
• 15:34
  Speaker 3: Mars.
• 15:42
  Speaker 1: Heitzman says 18.
• 15:43
Speaker 1: I'm going to bring it up to date now.
• 15:45
Speaker 1: Let's move up into the 90s, all right it looks like a Morgan.
• 15:48
  Speaker 1: The 1990s, 91 Mercedes-Benz 300 CE.
• 15:55
  Speaker 1: It's a two-door hardtop.
• 15:59
Speaker 4: Are you listening to me?
• 16:00
  Speaker 4: Yes, I am.
• 16:01
Speaker 1: I'm trying to visualize it 91 Mercedes here, I'll show it to you.
• 16:06
Speaker 3: Has it been recalled?
• 16:09
Speaker 4: All of them have been recalled.
• 16:10
Speaker 4: Found to have been recalled in that old Mercedes 300.
• 16:16

• 23:36
  Speaker 1: No, no, no.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: Well, they had them, but they didn't put them in american cars.
• 23:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, then they decided we're going to change the length of the hood, make it a little bit shorter, so we need a motor that doesn't take up linear thing going on and then you move into the transverse.
• 23:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, the trannies, the transfer, yep, yeah, it was well.
• 23:57

• 24:56
Speaker 1: Vroom's $290 million of unsecured convertible senior notes due in 2026 were converted into equity as part of its restructuring support agreement with creditors.
• 25:11
Speaker 1: The company indicated that it plans to attempt to relist on a nationally recognized stock exchange.
• 25:18
Speaker 1: Its shares previously traded on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol VRM.
• 25:24

• 25:30
Speaker 1: No, you're going to go to jail is where you're going to go.
• 25:32
Speaker 1: That's where you're going, and it brought up to my attention.
• 25:39
Speaker 1: Wait a minute, amazon is selling cars now too.
• 25:43
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, they're selling everything.
• 25:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, they're selling cars, and I believe is it Sam's Club or is it Costco Costco, costco're selling cars.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: Um, and I believe is it sam's club or is it costco, costco selling cars.
• 25:54
Speaker 1: Everybody's getting into the car sales.
• 25:57
Speaker 3: I was in a low is not far from here, in sugarland, as a matter of fact, and they're selling, uh, these big gator, uh like a golf cart tv.
• 26:06

• 26:17
  Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I don't know well, the only thing I, I can't, I don't understand.
• 26:22
Speaker 4: I can see how they could sell it.
• 26:24
Speaker 4: You know, you, you, you sell it and you go to the dealer to pick it up and I guess you go back to the dealer for service or warranty work, because you can't go back to amazon and you know what you're gonna do return it well, here's my, here's my thing.
• 26:38
Speaker 1: You know, if you're gonna buy a car, I get, I get.
• 26:42
Speaker 1: You know, hey, man, I got a great, I saved five thousand dollars off of it.
• 26:46
Speaker 1: Okay, well, you save five thousand dollars off the initial investment into it.
• 26:51
  Speaker 1: What if there's a problem?
• 26:53
Speaker 1: Right, if you take it back to the dealer you bought it from.
• 26:57
Speaker 1: There shouldn't be a problem, because the dealer is invested in you as well, right, because they want your business.
• 27:03
Speaker 1: When it comes time to trade that car in, they want that car.
• 27:06
Speaker 1: They want to sell you another car.

Speaker 1: And all these other ones are carvana.
• 27:15
Speaker 3: There's no warranty there well, what are they getting out?
• 27:17
Speaker 3: Why is costco doing it?
• 27:19
Speaker 3: What's in it for them?
• 27:20
Speaker 1: because they clearly are making a huge markup on it.
• 27:22
Speaker 1: They don't work in the business to give away stuff.
• 27:25
Speaker 3: Does costco have a finance company?
• 27:27
Speaker 3: Maybe you have to go through Costco to finance it to get the car.
• 27:30
Speaker 3: I mean, a lot of times it's where they make money.
• 27:32
  Speaker 4: But Amazon doesn't.
• 27:32
Speaker 4: They don't have a finance company, they don't finance.
