- 0:00Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed episode 37.
- 0:03Sean McAllister: This week we are talking entertainment that is streaming right to your living room and hearing from stars like Matthew Bomer, John Cusack, and Millie Bobby Brown.
- 0:13Dayna Roselli: Ooh, and we also have big updates in Las Vegas.
- 0:17Dayna Roselli: Two new mega resorts open up on the Las Vegas Strip after being closed since the coronavirus restrictions.
- 0:24Dayna Roselli: We're excited to tell you about that, plus some changes on how many people can be at events here in Las Vegas, which will really open up conventions again.
- 0:32Dayna Roselli: All that coming up on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:48Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone.
- 0:49Dayna Roselli: It is time to talk Las Vegas.
- 0:51Dayna Roselli: I'm Dana Roselli here with Sean McAllister, and we have a whole bunch of stuff to talk about today.
- 0:56Dayna Roselli: Some Vegas related, some kind of has to do with entertainment as far as, you know, because a lot of us are still, I feel like, watching movies and TV at home or trying to get out to the movies a little bit now.
- 1:08Sean McAllister: Well, yeah, and and that's the good thing, is that movie theaters are finally starting to open up uh across the country, and that means that new releases are not only uh coming into our living rooms with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, but they're also getting back onto the big screen, which is exciting.
- 1:26Sean McAllister: So uh we have a special guest, Rachel Smith is an entertainment correspondent and uh entertainment journalist based here in Las Vegas, and she'll be uh joining us this week to dive into all of her celebrity interviews.
- 1:39Dayna Roselli: I always call her the junket queen, she's everywhere, you know, interviewing like the top of the top.
- 1:44Dayna Roselli: So we're excited, and I always like to pick her brain about Tom Cruise because he's like my favorite, which people think is weird, but Rachel always gives me the dirt on if he's a nice person or not.
- 1:53Sean McAllister: Well, and I have a feeling that she's may have an update on the much anticipated Top Gun sequel.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: I cannot wait.
- 2:00Dayna Roselli: This is big.
- 2:01Dayna Roselli: This is big.
- 2:02Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 2:03Dayna Roselli: We have all that coming up, but also wanted to talk a little bit about um Las Vegas and the strip because Park MGM opened now, and it's interesting because they've made it a no-smoking hotel, and I think a lot of people are really on board with this.
- 2:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's it's I I think it's a long time coming.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 2:18Sean McAllister: I'm surprised that no other resorts have done that before now.
- 2:22Sean McAllister: But Park MGM is in a, you know, in the situation where it's the last of the MGM resorts properties to open on the Las Vegas strip, and they took this opportunity to say, you know what?
- 2:36Sean McAllister: We're just gonna open smoke-free, uh, which I think is a good thing.
- 2:40Sean McAllister: It's also the uh most recently renovated of the MGM properties on the strip, too.
- 2:46Sean McAllister: It's the old Monte Carlo, but it it reopened uh oh a year or so ago.
- 2:51Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 2:52Sean McAllister: A little over a year.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: I'm bad with time because I feel like everything just blends into each other.
- 2:55Sean McAllister: But yeah, I think I feel like it was around a New Year's two years ago.
- 2:59Sean McAllister: Opening.
- 2:59Sean McAllister: It was end of the year opening.
- 3:01Dayna Roselli: Park MGM.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: Who opened there?
- 3:03Dayna Roselli: No, it's at least two years ago.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: Because Lady Gaga has been playing there.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: I went to the opening and it was the girl from Fleetwood Mac?
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: No, who was the opening?
- 3:14Dayna Roselli: Yes, um blankets.
- 3:16Sean McAllister: What was it?
- 3:16Sean McAllister: It was uh It was um Stevie Nicks.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: Stevie Nicks, yeah.
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: Stevie Nicks.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: Uh that seems like a long time ago, so it has to be at least two years ago.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: It was see, I told you, it just all blends together.
- 3:26Sean McAllister: Man, see, this this whole like COVID shutdown quarantine thing has just totally is like turned my mind into an etch a sketch when time is concerned.
- 3:36Sean McAllister: I know.
- 3:36Dayna Roselli: It might even be three years ago.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: So anyway, Google it, folks, and and you'll find out.
- 3:41Sean McAllister: But anyways, it's it's nice and it's new.
- 3:43Dayna Roselli: It is, and it's right near the T-Mobile Arena, so I feel like it's a great place to go after or hit up before you go to a concert or event or a game or anything like that.
- 3:55Dayna Roselli: So they were, you know, itching to get that back open, and then maybe possibly we could have some events kick in at the T-Mobile Arena.
- 4:04Dayna Roselli: Our governor just changed some of the rules allowing 250 people to gather instead of the 50, or what, 10%?
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: If it was a bigger more than 2,500, 10% of that number.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: So I guess if there were like 60,000 people let in an arena, 10% could go in.
- 4:21Dayna Roselli: Is that how it works?
- 4:22Sean McAllister: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:22Sean McAllister: So you can have in large venues, uh, you can have 10% of the occupancy, but those all of those venues have to submit their safety plans to the state and get approval on all that.
- 4:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, which I would assume that they've been working on their their reopening and safety procedures this whole time, you know, just in anticipation of the day when they could finally reopen.
- 4:47Sean McAllister: But this does pave the way for uh, you know, entertainment events to start up again.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: It paves the way for uh conventions to come back and start up again.
- 4:59Sean McAllister: But um in those larger venues, I think that uh what they're encouraging and what they're gonna be the state, what they're gonna be pushing for is for pockets of fans, not everybody all crammed together.
- 5:12Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 5:12Sean McAllister: But still spread out in these large venues, but it it's still good news.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it is, because it means we're we're on our way.
- 5:18Dayna Roselli: I mean, I got an email from station casinos, which is are some of our ca uh casino hotels off the strip, and they said, Hey, we're allowed to, you know, have 250 gather, so they can get those smaller groups that maybe they're, I don't know, spread out all over the West Coast and they need a meeting place or something like that.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: So at least it's bringing business back.
- 5:35Dayna Roselli: And then the U.S.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: Travel Association announced that the IPW, which is an like international inbound travel trade show, is gonna be back September 18th of 2021.
- 5:46Dayna Roselli: So at least folks are still keeping us in mind and ready to come back in 2021.
- 5:51Sean McAllister: And I also heard that the world of concrete trade show is planning on doing an in-person trade show, I believe, that coming up in uh January.
- 6:01Sean McAllister: And you see all the construction equipment that's loaded into the convention center for that one.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and outside.
- 6:07Dayna Roselli: They use a lot of the outside lots, so that's actually a really good thing, you know, because a lot of the show can be outside.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: I see all the equipment and and it's always very visual.
- 6:16Sean McAllister: Concrete is big business.
- 6:17Sean McAllister: It is.
- 6:18Dayna Roselli: Listen, we need it.
- 6:20Dayna Roselli: Look at all the things that we have in Las Vegas with concrete.
- 6:22SPEAKER_08: I know.
- 6:22Dayna Roselli: Um Planet Hollywood's opening this week, too, which is exciting because there were rumors that it would never reopen.
- 6:28Dayna Roselli: You know how it goes on Twitter, people start talking.
- 6:30Dayna Roselli: So we're excited to hear about that.
- 6:32Dayna Roselli: Um, and and I know there's been talk about maybe someone buying it or this and that, but for now, no, Caesar says it's opening Planet Hollywood as is.
- 6:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they've had uh of course there's the big mall, the Miracle Mile shops, that's attached to the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino.
- 6:47Sean McAllister: The the Miracle Mile shops have been open uh for a few weeks now, for at least a month, I think.
- 6:53Sean McAllister: Um so those shops have been open, but the casino itself and the hotel at Planet Hollywood have remained closed down.
- 7:01Sean McAllister: But yeah, as of October 8th, uh Planet Hollywood will be back in action and um you know, bringing really, I believe that's just about all of the strip resorts that will be back open.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: I think so.
- 7:19Dayna Roselli: We were doing this the other day, and I kind of what I do visually is start at the the north end and and be boped down all the way to the south, and I'm like, I think you're right.
- 7:27Dayna Roselli: I think they are all open.
- 7:28Dayna Roselli: Is the Cromwell open?
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: Not sure about that one as far as hotel rooms.
- 7:32Sean McAllister: Well, that that has been closed.
- 7:35Sean McAllister: They they just used it for filming uh the CBS series Love Island.
- 7:41Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 7:41Dayna Roselli: I tried to watch that, it wasn't very entertaining.
- 7:44Dayna Roselli: But some people love it, my friends love it, so it was visually appealing.
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was, it was.
- 7:49Sean McAllister: The whole city of Las Vegas was the backdrop.
- 7:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah, but we're we're either there or almost there, which is good news.
- 7:54Dayna Roselli: It means that at least they're getting business, enough business to be like it's worth opening.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: And putting people back to work, yeah.
- 8:03Sean McAllister: Which is what we need.
- 8:04Sean McAllister: We need that here in Las Vegas.
- 8:05Dayna Roselli: And our bars have been back open, which is great.
- 8:07Dayna Roselli: Seems to be going just fine.
- 8:09Dayna Roselli: So happy about that.
- 8:10Dayna Roselli: Can't complain there.
- 8:12Dayna Roselli: I mean, you know, we're getting there.
- 8:13Dayna Roselli: Um what's not open?
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: I'm trying to think.
- 8:16Dayna Roselli: Like, like obviously, we don't have big events and shows, but I mean, now we've got our some of our theaters if they choose to be open.
- 8:23Dayna Roselli: Most of our hotel casinos are open, our restaurants are open, our bars are open.
- 8:28Sean McAllister: Um if you come back to Vegas, it it will feel like Vegas again.
- 8:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:35Sean McAllister: I mean, minus you know, some of the big production shows.
- 8:39Sean McAllister: Um, but you can gamble, you can pull up to the bar, you can kind of go about your business and and feel like Vegas.
- 8:46Sean McAllister: And if you come in the next few months before November, you know, the pools will still be open too.
- 8:52Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 8:53Dayna Roselli: So it it's good.
- 8:54Dayna Roselli: The wedding chapels are open.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: We saw our friend the other day who owns the Graceland wedding channel chapel, and he said, you know, things are getting back to normal.
- 9:01Dayna Roselli: People are coming and getting married.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's never gonna be right away what it used to be, but you know, we're known for that too, so that's great.
- 9:08Sean McAllister: Well, and we we don't obviously right now have a lot of the international travel because of the restrictions that are still in place, but there's a lot of uh drive traffic coming in from Arizona, Utah, California.
- 9:23Sean McAllister: So uh a lot of the surrounding uh states have been feeding the the tourists that we've been seeing.
- 9:30Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:31Sean McAllister: So thank you, drivers.
- 9:33Dayna Roselli: And just a quick mention, because we, you know, sometimes we talk about our personal lives.
- 9:36Dayna Roselli: Well, Sean and I, you know, this week we actually we hung out with Debbie Gibson and and Matt Goss, who's a headliner here in Las Vegas, Robin Anton, the creator of the Pussycat dolls.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: And you know, everyone always asks, like, what are these guys open?
- 9:48Dayna Roselli: Like, people don't know, like, are like with everything going on, like, do they still live here?
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: Are they still what what's going on?
- 9:53Dayna Roselli: Well, Robin lives in LA, but she has a a great dance studio there.
- 9:56Dayna Roselli: But because LA can't open indoor, you know, venues yet, she's been hanging out a lot in Vegas, so and doing a bunch of stuff, getting the Pussycat dolls ready to go back on the reunion tour.
- 10:08Dayna Roselli: Um, you had a long chat with Debbie Gibson about what she's been up to, and she's just creating music, doing a lot of podcasts, uh doing Zooms, and and I think she's getting ready to to release some new music.
- 10:20Dayna Roselli: So that's cool.
- 10:21Sean McAllister: And that's what it sounded like.
- 10:22Sean McAllister: She was really excited uh about the music that she's been able to create during uh this quarantine lockdown period.
- 10:30Sean McAllister: Right.
- 10:30Sean McAllister: And um she's also been working on some acting projects, and she's been she's been keeping busy.
- 10:37Sean McAllister: Right.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: And it was it was I was like, man, did you even slow down one bit?
- 10:44Sean McAllister: It sounds like she just has so many uh irons in the fire, which is exciting, but it was her new music.
- 10:50Sean McAllister: She just lit up and she's so excited about the new music she has coming up.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: I know, and it's great for some of these people that have pianos in their house so they can actually create at home, which is kind of cool.
- 10:58Dayna Roselli: Debbie has a a piano inside, or actually former Liber uh Liberacci's former one of his pianos.
- 11:04Dayna Roselli: She she bought years ago or one at an auction, I forget how it went down, but she's got that, so she's always creating.
- 11:09Dayna Roselli: And then we were at Matt Goss's house, he's got a beautiful piano and he's been writing new music and getting ready to release them.
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: He's doing a lot of business um with the UK because that's where he's from.
- 11:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: But with the whole, you know, way we're doing things now with live streaming and Zooms, all that business is able to kind of move on.
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: But, you know, missing not doing a show here in Las Vegas.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: So um, we'll interview Matt coming up in one of our podcasts.
- 11:31Dayna Roselli: We'll interview Debbie coming up eventually when we um get around to it.
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: But just, you know, it was a fun party.
- 11:36SPEAKER_08: It was.
- 11:37SPEAKER_08: It was a great party.
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: You know, whenever everyone's like, hey, wanna wanna have a cocktail and celebrate something, we're in.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: Sure.
- 11:45Dayna Roselli: Absolutely.
- 11:46Dayna Roselli: All right, we're getting ready to talk with Rachel Smith after we take a quick break.
- 11:49Sean McAllister: And she's gonna be filling us in on all of the new releases and her star interviews.
- 11:55Sean McAllister: You'll hear it all next on Vegas Reveal.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: Thanks for listening to Vegas Revealed.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: We want to remind you of all the ways you can stay in touch with us, and one of our big ones is Vegas-revealed.com because on that website is all our information, all the ways that you can listen to the podcasts, and also links to all of our social media.

- 12:24Sean McAllister: Also, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as we're out and about.
- 12:30Sean McAllister: That's where you'll see what we're up to, and of course, our YouTube page.
- 12:34SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we've got it all, folks.
- 12:36SPEAKER_10: Go to Vegas-Revealed.com and see what we're all about.
- 12:42Sean McAllister: Our guest this week is a name and face that is very familiar in Las Vegas and beyond.
- 12:47Sean McAllister: Rachel Smith is an Emmy Award-winning entertainment journalist and host who is based here in Vegas.
- 12:53Sean McAllister: And as a voting member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, she has traveled the world to interview Hollywood's top stars like Tom Cruise, Charlie Sterin, even Meryl Streep, and Cher.
- 13:06Sean McAllister: And for over a decade, Rachel and I were co-hosts of a very popular Las Vegas entertainment news show.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 13:13Dayna Roselli: Now that movie theaters are opening up across the country again and there are new releases to talk about.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: Well, there are also new releases that are streaming straight to our homes.
- 13:22Dayna Roselli: We're excited.
- 13:22Dayna Roselli: Rachel Smith, it's great to have you here.
- 13:24SPEAKER_09: Woo-hoo, thanks for having me, Dana.
- 13:26SPEAKER_09: Sean, so good seeing you guys.
- 13:27Sean McAllister: Yeah, how are you, my friend?
- 13:28SPEAKER_09: We're all casual.
- 13:29SPEAKER_09: Doesn't this feel good?
- 13:30SPEAKER_09: Yes, yes, casual.
- 13:32SPEAKER_09: It's like it's a new, like, you know, COVID casual, right?
- 13:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah, exactly.
- 13:35Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 13:36Sean McAllister: Uh, how's everything going?
- 13:37SPEAKER_09: Doing really well.
- 13:38SPEAKER_09: I'm great seeing you guys.
- 13:39SPEAKER_09: It's been a while, so it's great seeing you in person.
- 13:42SPEAKER_09: And bonus, we get to see Sean's uh puppy who's part of the podcast, but not sing.
- 13:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 13:47SPEAKER_09: But Sawyer gives kisses, which is nice.
- 13:48SPEAKER_09: I know, I know.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: Well, it's so cool.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: You've had an opportunity to interview so many incredible people through the years, and recently, with new stuff coming out, they're still, you know, wanting you to interview these folks and get the word out about new series that are streaming, new movies.
- 14:04SPEAKER_09: It's amazing because obviously the theaters just recently reopened, but people are still a bit a little c cautious and concerned.
- 14:10SPEAKER_09: So there's been so many great movies that were intended for theaters that are streaming on Netflix, on Amazon Prime, or video on demand.
- 14:19SPEAKER_09: So families have never been home more than right now, and to have this new material and new entertainment has been great.
- 14:24SPEAKER_09: And some of these movies and shows have been phenomenal.
- 14:27Sean McAllister: And uh, one of our famous Las Vegas residents is of course Mike Tyson, Iron Mike, and there's a new biopic that's in the works about his life with uh Jamie Foxx in a starring role.
- 14:40SPEAKER_09: Love Jamie Foxx, who by the way used to be a resident of Las Vegas for years.
- 14:44SPEAKER_09: I don't think I knew that.
- 14:45SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 14:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah, they had no idea Jamie Foxx used to live here.
- 14:49SPEAKER_09: Oh, he loves it.
- 14:49SPEAKER_09: Every time we talk to Jamie Foxx, for years now, over a decade, he always brings up his great times in Las Vegas, and because of that, you know, he knows Mike Tyson very well.
- 14:58SPEAKER_09: And it's interesting because he had this huge hit movie, uh Project Power, on Netflix this summer.
- 15:03SPEAKER_09: But what I want to know about is the upcoming Mike Tyson biopic.
- 15:08SPEAKER_09: And he told me about getting close to Mike, but also having an embarrassing moment once when he was on stage that involved the former champ.
- 15:15SPEAKER_09: Take a listen.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: I've known Mike Tyson for years.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: I was on stage my I was on stage years ago, and I went to do my Mike Tyson joke, and nobody laughed because Mike Tyson was in the audience.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Somebody yelled out and said, Yo, yo, you in here.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Oh, snap.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: And a black girl in the front was like, What you gonna do?
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: You scared?
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: I was like, hey, don't get it started.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: And they said, do the joke, but it better be funny.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: So I did a joke, got a stand in ovation.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Mike comes up to me, there he is, come in.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: You're so crazy.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Come on, I want you to hang out with me.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Come on, let's start hanging out.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I've been hanging out with him, so I got a chance to watch his growth.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: I got a chance, we grew up together in a sense.
- 15:46SPEAKER_09: So you can see that Mike was not mad at him joking about him.
- 15:50SPEAKER_09: I love that.
- 15:50unknown: Oh my god.
- 15:51SPEAKER_09: But really, I mean, he said Mike has got to slow down because this movie is gonna be eight hours long because Tyson doesn't slow down.
- 15:57SPEAKER_09: He keeps having you know shows on Broadway, he keeps, you know, dividing himself, and so it's that's gonna be a really good one to watch for next year.
- 16:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and you know what's interesting because he has this one man show.
- 16:07Dayna Roselli: I've seen it twice here in Las Vegas, once when it was at MGM Grand, and then well, and then he was also in MGM Grand down to just a different theater.
- 16:17Dayna Roselli: But um, I always thought, like, I wonder who's gonna go see this, who's gonna be interested.
- 16:20Dayna Roselli: But the theater was always packed and a lot of men interested in his life story and and what a story he has to tell, and the way that he tells it.
- 16:29Dayna Roselli: He just doesn't hide anything, he just he's really himself.
- 16:32SPEAKER_09: I have all those pictures of Fox getting buffed.
- 16:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I mean, because he's been posted on Instagram like getting, you know, former heavyweight champ tough.
- 16:39SPEAKER_09: So the biceps are coming in.
- 16:40SPEAKER_09: He's always been a fit guy, but I think Jamie is a perfect person to hurry Mike.
- 16:44Dayna Roselli: I would have when I'm sitting there thinking, like, who would and then you said Jamie Fox, I was like, perfect.
- 16:48SPEAKER_09: I mean, Sean McAllister could do the role, but I don't know if he's got he doesn't have that left hook.
- 16:54Sean McAllister: I don't know if the uh resemblance is uncanny enough.
- 16:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:58Sean McAllister: Um, but uh another uh big release uh is on Netflix, and it's a project starring Millie Bally uh Millie Bobby Brown, who of course everybody knows from Stranger Things.
- 17:09SPEAKER_09: Oh my gosh, Millie Bobby Brown is probably one of the hottest young stars out there, also one of the most inspirational, because this is a movie that was, as she said, was destined for the cinema, which they say, you know, in the UK.
- 17:21SPEAKER_09: But this was gonna be a huge, big blockbuster movie, which of course, in current times, they decided let's release it on Netflix, let families see it.
- 17:29SPEAKER_09: This is a family-friendly film, and it's so great because it's about Enola Holmes, who is Sherlock Holmes' younger sister.
- 17:36SPEAKER_09: And uh Sherlock in the movie, played by the always handsome Henry Cavill, but this is all about Enola.
- 17:43SPEAKER_09: And Millie Bobby Brown is such a great young female superhero feminist role model in this because she's smart, she's capable, she's resourceful, and it all kind of starts with this adventure of finding her mom, who's played by Helena Bottom Carter, who disappears, and then the game is afoot.
- 18:02SPEAKER_06: A week ago, I awoke to find that my mother was missing, and she did not return.
- 18:07SPEAKER_06: I'm presently on the way to collect my brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock.
- 18:12SPEAKER_06: Yes, Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective, my genius brother.
- 18:16SPEAKER_06: He will have all the answers.
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: Hello.
- 18:21SPEAKER_09: So such a fun movie, right?
- 18:23SPEAKER_09: And everyone knows her, of course, from Stranger Things.
- 18:25Sean McAllister: Well, and David Harbour, her co-star on Stranger Things, just got married here to Lily Collins in Las Vegas at one of the little wedding chapels, the Graceland Wedding Chapel, I believe.
- 18:35Sean McAllister: Did she talk about that at all?
- 18:37SPEAKER_09: Absolutely.
- 18:37SPEAKER_09: I mean, it was so fun.
- 18:38SPEAKER_09: I mean, what they had In N Out Burgers and had, you know, Elvis marry them.
- 18:41SPEAKER_09: So I asked Millie, you know, your co-star just got married in Vegas.
- 18:44SPEAKER_09: I know she's not 21, but what's the wildest thing that she's ever done in Vegas?
- 18:48SPEAKER_09: And this is what she told me.
- 18:50SPEAKER_05: The craziest thing I've done in Vegas is um uh watch the fountain show, um, which is a very, very fun experience to anyone who's ever experienced it.
- 19:02SPEAKER_05: If not, it's a fountain show with lights and music, and it's very riveting.
- 19:08Sean McAllister: Oh, honey, if the Bellaggio fountains are the wildest thing that you've done, you you got some other living to do.
- 19:14Dayna Roselli: I know, I gotta get out.
- 19:16SPEAKER_09: Either she's just a very well uh trained, uh, you know, young actress who knows not to give up too much, or she just needs to come back when she's a little bit older, right?
- 19:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I guess so.
- 19:24unknown: Oh my gosh.
- 19:25SPEAKER_09: But there's a great movie.
- 19:26SPEAKER_09: I loved it.
- 19:26SPEAKER_09: Nola Holmes on Netflix right now, and they're already talking about sequels.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 19:31Dayna Roselli: And now let's talk the boys in the band.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: I keep seeing promos for this.
- 19:34Dayna Roselli: Is this this is on Netflix already, right?
- 19:36Dayna Roselli: Just released?
- 19:37SPEAKER_09: Just released, and by the way, Sean has a great connection.
- 19:40SPEAKER_09: Not only did you see it on Broadway, Sean, but one of the stars in the film, Tuck Watkins, is a personal friend, right?
- 19:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, that's right.
- 19:48Sean McAllister: I've known Tuck for years and had the opportunity to go and see uh the boys in the band when the play was on Broadway.
- 19:57Sean McAllister: It was celebrating the 50th anniversary of the play, and the revival came out with an all-star cast.
- 20:04Sean McAllister: They won a Tony Award for it.
- 20:06Sean McAllister: And uh now I'm excited to see them uh see what they do with it on the screen.
- 20:10SPEAKER_09: Absolutely.
- 20:11SPEAKER_09: And knowing you guys are friends, the first thing I had to say when I was talking to Tuck and Matt Bomer and the cast was say hello to uh Tuck from Sean.
- 20:18SPEAKER_09: And uh uh Tuck had a uh little cheeky response.
- 20:23SPEAKER_04: Oh my goodness.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: I remember Sean.
- 20:25SPEAKER_04: Um he uh came to a couple of Mark Cherry's uh infamous or well, infamous pool parties.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: So please tell him I said hi.
- 20:34Dayna Roselli: Ooh, pool parties?
- 20:34Dayna Roselli: Why weren't Rachel and I invited?
- 20:36Dayna Roselli: Listen, so we had a carpool or something.
- 20:38Dayna Roselli: Infamous, infamous pool parties.
- 20:40Sean McAllister: I had a friend in LA who used to be the casting director for Desperate Housewives.
- 20:45SPEAKER_09: He fancy, he fancy Dana.
- 20:47Sean McAllister: Mark Cherry was the guy who created Desperate Housewives.
- 20:51Sean McAllister: So I I think it was a 4th of July party.
- 20:54SPEAKER_09: Dana, is he blushing or is he just like sun hit?
- 20:57SPEAKER_09: Sean's gotten more stories.
- 20:58SPEAKER_09: That was another podcast for another day, right?
- 21:00Dayna Roselli: We laid out in the sun this morning.
- 21:01Dayna Roselli: It's sunburned.
- 21:03Sean McAllister: I'm sun kissed, not blushing.
- 21:05Dayna Roselli: But honestly, this cast, so amazing, right?
- 21:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and now Ryan Murphy, um, I watched Hollywood.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: So good.
- 21:11Dayna Roselli: That was good.
- 21:12Dayna Roselli: I didn't love it.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: I watched The Politician, it was good, but I didn't love it.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: But we've talked about this before.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: I don't I don't know if I love, love, love his work, but but I like, but I will watch it.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: Let's put it that way.
- 21:23Dayna Roselli: But it's it's not it's done in a certain way, don't you think, that kind of appeals to he definitely has a style, and I like that he is always very inclusive.
- 21:32SPEAKER_09: He definitely has a message of representation matters.
- 21:34SPEAKER_09: And what I like talking to this cast is they kind of call themselves like the Gay Justice League because these are nine openly out actors who not only took these roles on Broadway, but now have come together to recreate this for you know for Netflix, for the movie.
- 21:49SPEAKER_09: And really, this is the fifth-year anniversary, as Sean said, of this groundbreaking movie that came out in the 70s.
- 21:54SPEAKER_09: And I asked Matt Bomer, what does this mean to today's LGBTQ movement?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: One of the most refreshing things about doing this on stage is that you get to have interact with people of all ages and backgrounds backstage after the show.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: And I was so blown away by I I I guess I kind of expected it from my generation and maybe an older generation, but I was so moved when younger people would tell me how much the story meant to them and how much they didn't know about the story, and how much certain aspects of it still resonated with them, that they had friends who were like some of these characters, that they they had parties that they'd be at where somebody would read somebody else, you know, sort of, you know, same script, different cast kind of stories that I would hear.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: So I would hope that a younger generation would see this and realize that today, as Tuck said, we have an all-openly gay cast telling the story, and but also to have some gratitude for how far we've come and the people like Mark Crowley and this original cast who had the courage to tell this story 50 years ago and on the shoulders of whom we stand as artists today.
- 23:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I think the message of the film is just as relevant now as it ever has been, and it can really be applied uh across the board, whether you're LGBTQ or not.
- 23:12SPEAKER_09: Absolutely, because there is a message and a powerful one of that in the movie, but also it's highly entertaining.
- 23:18SPEAKER_09: I mean, there's even listen, I love any movie that has a breakout musical number.
- 23:21SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 23:21SPEAKER_09: And they did a whole dance number to heat wave, you know, and Jim Parsons, I'm like, honey, you've got some moves.
- 23:26SPEAKER_09: He's like, oh Lord, don't make me, you know, Jim Parsons, he's so funny.
- 23:29SPEAKER_09: Don't make me dance again.
- 23:30SPEAKER_09: By the way, he said he hopes when Vegas reopens, the one show he'll be dancing at first is Lady Gaga.
- 23:35SPEAKER_09: That's the one he wants to come back to first.
- 23:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 23:37Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, they're easy on the eyes, and this looks like a fantastic it does look like a fantastic uh movie to watch, so I'm excited about it.
- 23:44Sean McAllister: And uh John Cusack is another one who has uh a new project coming out on Amazon Prime, right?
- 23:52SPEAKER_09: Yes, this is such an engrossing, compelling, and timely a series.
- 23:55SPEAKER_09: It's called Utopia, and basically it also has stars Rain Wilson.
- 23:59SPEAKER_09: It's from the writer Gillian Flynn of Gone Girl, who gave us so you know it's gonna be good suspense and twists and turns.
- 24:04SPEAKER_09: But what's really interesting about Utopia is it's based on this graphic novel that kind of predicts a super bug or pandemic.
- 24:12SPEAKER_09: So when they shot this series, you know, over a year ago in Chicago, the stars, when the things that started happening in real life and unfolding, they were completely in disbelief because it's so surreal a fictional story that actually kind of came to pass with today's events.
- 24:27SPEAKER_09: And here's what John Husek kind of say about that.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, surreal is the right word.
- 24:33SPEAKER_03: Surreal is the right word.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Um dystopia dystopia and uh change and loss of materialism over there.
- 24:56SPEAKER_03: Um I don't think we'll be started.
- 24:59SPEAKER_03: It would mirror reality quite so much.
- 25:02Sean McAllister: Wow, that is a little eerie, huh?
- 25:04Sean McAllister: It is.
- 25:04SPEAKER_09: It really is, because I mean this material was written a long time ago, so who could have predicted?
- 25:08SPEAKER_09: And of course, this is sci-fi, this is fiction.
- 25:11SPEAKER_09: This also is not for kids, just to point that out.
- 25:13SPEAKER_09: There's a lot of dark themes, there's violence, but it's very compelling, and it's a series you can watch one after the other, very bingeworthy.
- 25:20SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 25:20Dayna Roselli: Wow, yeah.
- 25:21Dayna Roselli: That uh it does look good, that's for sure.
- 25:22Dayna Roselli: And I love John Cusack.
- 25:24Dayna Roselli: I know, don't you?
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: I do.
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: I mean, he's been well, you know, we're getting older, so he's been around for a long time, and I've seen a lot of his stuff when he's gonna be.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: Not all day night.
- 25:33SPEAKER_09: My mom always told me that it's not how old I am, it's how young the boys I date.
- 25:38SPEAKER_09: I'm sorry, you can edit that later.
- 25:40SPEAKER_09: But no, it's interesting too, you know, John Cusack's such a fan.
- 25:43SPEAKER_09: He loves Chicago.
- 25:44SPEAKER_09: They shot the show there.
- 25:45SPEAKER_09: Uh, Gillian Flynn, also from Chicago.
- 25:47SPEAKER_09: But I had to ask him too.
- 25:48SPEAKER_09: I said, Um, you know, you love Chicago sports teams, and what does he think about Vegas becoming a sports town?
- 25:53SPEAKER_09: And he was just so excited, like, finally, I was worried about all the gambling stuff you guys had to get through.
- 25:58SPEAKER_09: But feels like you guys figured it out and can't wait to see, you know, the Bears take on the Raiders at Legion Stadium.
- 26:03Sean McAllister: Yeah, absolutely.
- 26:04Sean McAllister: We figured it out.
- 26:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, we did.
- 26:09Sean McAllister: It's great, right?
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: I mean, and you know, one thing uh that we were talking about earlier is you know how how things have changed over the last seven months, obviously, but something I'm missing, I'm really like we're missing the shows in Vegas, but we're also kind of missing the red carpets, right?
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: I mean, for years and years, Sean, you and Rachel have both been on, you know, red carpets.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: And I don't know if if there's any maybe moments that you wanted to talk about or share with some of our listeners of some really cool Vegas-y red carpet moments that uh that you'll always remember.
- 26:39SPEAKER_09: You know what I think?
- 26:40SPEAKER_09: It's been there's so many years of covering, whether it's the ACMs or the Billboard Music Awards.
- 26:44SPEAKER_09: I mean, there's been so many award shows that have come to Vegas, but I'll never forget, I think, Sean, was it in 2016 when BTS, which is now the arguably, listen, I love Backstreet Boys, but right now BTS, the biggest boy band in the world.
- 26:58SPEAKER_09: I mean, their following is huge.
- 27:00SPEAKER_09: And it was their very first red carpet ever in the United States, some of them the very first time in our country.
- 27:06SPEAKER_09: And so when we interviewed them, we're just seeing all these like fans lining up.
- 27:10SPEAKER_09: We're like, who are they here for?
- 27:12SPEAKER_09: Are they here for, you know, Ariana, Imagine Dragons?
- 27:14SPEAKER_09: They were all there for BTS.
- 27:15SPEAKER_09: So that was our first introduction.
- 27:17SPEAKER_09: And weren't they so gracious?
- 27:18Sean McAllister: Oh, they they were amazing.
- 27:20Sean McAllister: They were amazing.
- 27:21Sean McAllister: We were standing there, like, I mean, this was this was back in 2016.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: We were like, so who are these fans?
- 27:27SPEAKER_09: He's like, What's K-pop?
- 27:28Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 27:29Dayna Roselli: We hope no one's none of their fans are listening.
- 27:31Dayna Roselli: We'll get hate.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: They are like they have hardcore fans.
- 27:34SPEAKER_09: Oh, like hardcore.
- 27:35SPEAKER_09: And I'm one of them.
- 27:36SPEAKER_09: Have you heard Dynamite, their new video?
- 27:38SPEAKER_09: Oh my gosh, Dynamite! What?
- 27:40SPEAKER_09: Oh my god, we're gonna fix that immediately.
- 27:41SPEAKER_09: After this is Don Dana, we're playing it's their first English language video.
- 27:45SPEAKER_09: It has broken the internet like more than even Kim Kardashian did with her booty.
- 27:49SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 27:49SPEAKER_09: Because really, they it is now listen.
- 27:51SPEAKER_09: I don't know how there's like so many guys.
- 27:52SPEAKER_09: There's usually five guys, a formula in a boy band, but they think they have seven, but they all dance, they all sing, they're very highly produced.
- 27:58SPEAKER_09: But this video, you never heard Dynamite?
- 28:01SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 28:01SPEAKER_09: Where have I been?
- 28:02SPEAKER_09: You have to like insert a little suit.
- 28:04SPEAKER_09: I'm putting on the licensing agreement with that, but but so good.
- 28:06SPEAKER_09: I'm a big BTS.
- 28:07SPEAKER_09: I think BTS and BSB should get together and do something.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: Backstreet Boys.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, their show, Planet Hollywood, was still to this day one of my favorites.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: And I didn't expect it.
- 28:16Dayna Roselli: I didn't even expect it to be.
- 28:18Dayna Roselli: Like, I was like, oh, I like Backstreet Boys, you know, but I was more of a new kids on the block girl.
- 28:22Dayna Roselli: But like that show was great.
- 28:23SPEAKER_09: So good.
- 28:24SPEAKER_09: And actually, before they left, I hosted some fan event because the guys came to know that I was obviously a very loyal fan.
- 28:30SPEAKER_09: I have a PhD in boy bands, and they said if they're invited back, they would love to come back and return.
- 28:35SPEAKER_09: I mean, AJ's doing Dancing with the Stars, and they have some solo projects, but I think hopefully when things reopen, we can, you know, welcome back our boys.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: Yes, I hope so.
- 28:44Dayna Roselli: Planet Hollywood is opening back up, and we just need to get our theaters back open and then see who's gonna return, you know?
- 28:50Dayna Roselli: It's all out there.
- 28:51Sean McAllister: We want everybody to return.
- 28:53Sean McAllister: Yeah, we want to.
- 28:53Sean McAllister: That's the goal.
- 28:54Sean McAllister: Everybody.
- 28:55SPEAKER_09: Sean wants Carrie Underwood to one day come here, too.
- 28:57SPEAKER_09: That's a sort of thing.
- 28:58SPEAKER_09: I would love that.
- 28:58SPEAKER_09: That's his boy.
- 28:59SPEAKER_09: That's his app back to the voice.
- 29:00Sean McAllister: Dolly Parton.
- 29:02Sean McAllister: I want Dolly to have a residency.
- 29:04Dayna Roselli: I have some insight info that she might.
- 29:06Dayna Roselli: So I know someone that works with her that said it might possibly be in the work.
- 29:11Dayna Roselli: So we'll see.
- 29:12SPEAKER_09: By the way, wasn't that a great moment when we had Dolly do an interview with us?
- 29:15SPEAKER_09: Yes, because they were, you know, rushing her in like the last four or five minutes before the award show, they've got to get the stars in.
- 29:21SPEAKER_09: And so her publicist was looking at us like, sorry guys, it's the last interview.
- 29:24SPEAKER_09: We've got to move her in.
- 29:25SPEAKER_09: And I was like, like, I'm like praying, like, just one question.
- 29:28SPEAKER_09: And so he was trying to move her along.
- 29:29SPEAKER_09: And then Dolly goes, Well, wait a little second.
- 29:31SPEAKER_09: I'm not gonna pass up this little girl.
- 29:32SPEAKER_09: She's been sitting here for two minutes, just pray just begging for an interview.
- 29:36Sean McAllister: She says, If you want to talk to me, well, Darwin, I sure do want to talk to you.
- 29:40Sean McAllister: No, no, you're good at impersonating her.
- 29:42Sean McAllister: That was good.
- 29:43SPEAKER_09: She did, she did.
- 29:44SPEAKER_09: Oh my god.
- 29:45SPEAKER_09: Years ago when we interviewed her for uh Joyful Noise with Queen Latifah, because she's like tiny.
- 29:50SPEAKER_09: And I said, Uh, Dolly, how are you so small?
- 29:52SPEAKER_09: She goes, Well, honey, I've been having a carb since 1970.
- 29:55SPEAKER_09: Oh my god.
- 29:56Dayna Roselli: She said, That's the problem, carbs.
- 29:58Dayna Roselli: I'm like, man, I could never, I couldn't survive.
- 30:00Dayna Roselli: No way.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: No way.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: Okay, before you go, Rachel, I have to ask you about the latest Tom Cruise news.
- 30:05Dayna Roselli: What's going on with Top Gun 2?
- 30:07Dayna Roselli: Do you know?
- 30:08Dayna Roselli: I'm dying.
- 30:09SPEAKER_09: Well, you know that they pushed it back till next, you know, summer now.
- 30:13SPEAKER_09: Now it's yeah, they keep moving it further and further away.
- 30:15SPEAKER_09: I know, and I listen, but like you, I love the Backstreet Boys and I love Tom Cruise, but Dana and your mom.
- 30:20Dayna Roselli: I love and my mom.
- 30:21Dayna Roselli: Love Tom Cruise.
- 30:22SPEAKER_09: And you should, because I know a lot of people out there have all these ideas about, but all I can ever judge is my experiences and how I see them not only treat me, but the people who bring in their sandwich or do their makeup or the fans that wait for hours.
- 30:34SPEAKER_09: And I have to tell you, in 15 years of doing this, and I've been, I mean, Tom doesn't do things small, so I've gone some amazing trips.
- 30:41SPEAKER_09: I mean Tom.
- 30:42SPEAKER_09: Oh my lord, she calls him an a person.
- 30:44SPEAKER_09: No, yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_09: Tom, I'm a Mr.
- 30:45SPEAKER_09: Cruise.
- 30:46SPEAKER_09: What do we say?
- 30:46SPEAKER_09: You know?
- 30:47SPEAKER_09: But he doesn't do things.
- 30:48SPEAKER_09: We've gone to, you know, Spain, we've gone to like, you know, Austria, we've gone all over the world with these, you know, movie junkets and premieres.
- 30:55SPEAKER_09: And he shows up so early, so he can literally talk to fans for hours.
- 31:00SPEAKER_09: And then when he does a red carpet, sometimes stars like, well, they'll do some interviews with you know the big national networks, but then they have to get in.
- 31:06SPEAKER_09: He, if you're on that red carpet, he is going to stop and do an interview with every single journalist there.
- 31:12SPEAKER_09: And I think he really cares.
- 31:13SPEAKER_09: I mean, he's one of those stars I think that cares what people think, wants to be, you know, like grateful for all the fan support.
- 31:19SPEAKER_09: And I think Maverick, this uh sequel, is gonna be so good.
- 31:22SPEAKER_09: I think it's gonna be out now the 4th of July weekend around his birthday.
- 31:25SPEAKER_09: That'd be great.
- 31:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I think they just started shooting the next Mission Impossible with Christopher Macquarie.
- 31:29Dayna Roselli: So yeah, I think Tom really enjoys what he does and he's very grateful.
- 31:33Dayna Roselli: And I think that you can see the appreciation and his work.
- 31:37Sean McAllister: You still have his poster up on your wall, don't you?
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: Um no, but um maybe in my closet where no one can see it.
- 31:44SPEAKER_09: I mean, listen, volleyball, listen, back in the day when I was like very young, I didn't know what was what was happening when I was watching that movie because I was like, I don't know, middle school, but I was like, why am I enjoying this so much?
- 31:54SPEAKER_09: Like the volleyball scene was like, it's so good.
- 31:56SPEAKER_09: Like, just if you haven't seen it, go Google it.
- 31:58SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 31:58Dayna Roselli: I mean, who hasn't, right?
- 32:00Dayna Roselli: But yeah, I mean, and no, I really do like him as an actor.
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: I like his movies.
- 32:03Dayna Roselli: I'm waiting for him to at least win one Oscar.
- 32:05Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 32:06Dayna Roselli: I mean, come on.
- 32:07Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 32:07SPEAKER_09: I think sometimes he doesn't get the credit, but if you really look at the definition of movie star, and we use it, listen, I'm guilty of it, we use it way too much.
- 32:14SPEAKER_09: Tom Cruise is a bona fide movie star.
- 32:17SPEAKER_09: For sure.
- 32:17SPEAKER_09: And when you it's funny too, like face-to-face, like he's just got that charismatic smile and personality.
- 32:23SPEAKER_09: And you might only be talking for two minutes, but those are your two minutes.
- 32:26SPEAKER_09: He's not looking around to see if someone bigger or better is you know coming up.
- 32:30SPEAKER_09: He gives you that attention.
- 32:31Sean McAllister: So and he'll use your name.
- 32:33SPEAKER_09: He does do that.
- 32:34SPEAKER_09: He's really good.
- 32:35SPEAKER_09: I like that.
- 32:35SPEAKER_09: So Rachel's is a nice, you know, he always compliments you and puts the focus.
- 32:39SPEAKER_09: Cute.
- 32:40SPEAKER_09: He's smart.
- 32:41SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 32:41SPEAKER_09: Well, cute.
- 32:44SPEAKER_09: You got the same tan as uh Sean does.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: Oh, I know.
- 32:47Sean McAllister: On that dreamy nose.
- 32:48Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 32:49Dayna Roselli: Rachel, thank you so much for watching.
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: Thank you guys for having me.
- 32:52Sean McAllister: It's always great to see you and uh have your insights on all things entertainment.
- 32:57Sean McAllister: And um, don't be a stranger.
- 32:59Sean McAllister: Come back whenever you want.
- 33:00SPEAKER_09: I'd love to.
- 33:01SPEAKER_09: Thank you guys for having me so much.
- 33:02Sean McAllister: You got it.
- 33:03Sean McAllister: Thanks, Rachel.
- 33:03Dayna Roselli: Stay with us, Vegas revealed us back after this, and we'll have our two secret tips.
- 33:15Dayna Roselli: Welcome back.
- 33:16Dayna Roselli: It's time for Sean and Dana's secret tips.
- 33:18Dayna Roselli: And something we wanted to talk about today is we're actually recording on October 1st.
- 33:23Dayna Roselli: And uh, for anyone who's listening from outside of Las Vegas or in Las Vegas, you probably know what happened here three years ago on this day.
- 33:33Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, a mass shooting right across from Mandalay Bay.
- 33:36Dayna Roselli: It was the Route 91 music festival.
- 33:40Dayna Roselli: Uh 58 people were killed.
- 33:42Dayna Roselli: Now that number's been up to 60, and so many people injured, and just the whole area and really the whole country was affected by this.
- 33:50Sean McAllister: Yeah, and there were so many people from out of town who were here for that concert and who unfortunately lost their lives in in that shooting.
- 34:00Sean McAllister: But uh uh 1 October is uh forever going to be a day in Las Vegas that uh just carries so much emotion, and people uh in Las Vegas and outside of Las Vegas have been impacted in so many different ways uh by uh what happened here.
- 34:20Sean McAllister: And uh there is if if you are um you know coming to Las Vegas and do want to remember those people, there is uh a healing garden in downtown Las Vegas that was created uh to keep the memories of uh those who we lost alive.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's it's a beautiful place.
- 34:41Dayna Roselli: Um if you just want to take a moment, uh reflect, remember the victims, or just see what they have done up there because that was such a community effort.
- 34:50Dayna Roselli: I remember literally they started creating that like on the day of the shooting later in the day.
- 34:55Dayna Roselli: Or like, what can we do?
- 34:56Dayna Roselli: Because people just wanted to help.
- 34:58Dayna Roselli: Everyone in our community was like, okay, what can I do?
- 35:00Dayna Roselli: Can I donate blood?
- 35:01Dayna Roselli: Can I help create this memorial?
- 35:03Dayna Roselli: What can we do to um help people who were affected?
- 35:08Dayna Roselli: I would feel like people were like, I feel like I'm affected because I live here, but I need to help others.
- 35:12Dayna Roselli: And it was such a it was a dark, dark day, but there were so many bright spots when it came to everyone coming together.
- 35:18Dayna Roselli: So this garden, I know you recently were on a bike ride and you said that you stopped there and it was beautiful.
- 35:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was the first time that uh I'd actually been to the garden.
- 35:29Sean McAllister: I'd you know, seen it so many times in in news coverage and seen pictures on social media, but uh just walking through there and um seeing the the little memorials that family members have put up with the pictures of uh the the victims of that shooting.
- 35:47Sean McAllister: And it's it is just such a a serene and beautiful place, and you can feel that it was created with so much love.
- 35:55Sean McAllister: Right and that energy and that spirit you can feel there.
- 35:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 35:59Dayna Roselli: I mean it was uh a terrible day, but like I was saying, there were so sometimes when there's a shooting, there are a lot of people that are killed or injured that are from your town.
- 36:10Dayna Roselli: It happens in your town, but we, like you mentioned, had so many people that were visiting at that time.
- 36:15Dayna Roselli: And so so it's a great place.
- 36:17Dayna Roselli: We we are happy to have a place that we can remember them, honor them, and um a place that you can go to.
- 36:23Dayna Roselli: So we wanted to mention that anyway.
- 36:24Dayna Roselli: It's in downtown Las Vegas and easy to get to, and it's it's really pretty.
- 36:28Dayna Roselli: If you get a chance, go check it out.
- 36:30Sean McAllister: And just another note on that, I I think the the memory that just will will always stick out to me is how the city of Las Vegas reacted to that uh unthinkable uh occurrence.
- 36:46Sean McAllister: Um I was reporting live at uh one of the blood banks where people were just flooding the blood bank, just wanting to donate and do something, and people were driving by, dropping off supplies, dropping off food.
- 37:02Sean McAllister: It was it was unbelievable the outpouring, and um I I think that really showed what Las Vegas is made of at its core.
- 37:12Dayna Roselli: Right, I agree.
- 37:13Dayna Roselli: And and and at the time we were both in local news, and someone just wrote me a message today.
- 37:16Dayna Roselli: I said, I remember your coverage, and I just stuck with you, and we were captivated.
- 37:20Dayna Roselli: It was so nice to have people who knew our town, and we were just glued to the TV, and it just it it felt good to be able to be a source of information for people, and uh that really is one of the the moments that I'll always remember in my career, and I feel like even um I left TV a year ago, and I feel like you know, after one October, it it almost was it was time to to go.
- 37:45Dayna Roselli: So so it just happened to all, you know, fall into place that way.
- 37:49Dayna Roselli: But but we were all trying to do something, and I know you feel if you were at the blood bank, you know, and me uh on TV in the studio, felt felt useful, felt like we were doing something, which was good.
- 37:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, it it was.
- 38:00Sean McAllister: It just uh it gives me chills all over even even thinking about it.
- 38:05Sean McAllister: But um, there was so much good that came of that.
- 38:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so that's that's one of our tips.
- 38:09Dayna Roselli: A place that you may not know about is the something that you could visit.
- 38:12Dayna Roselli: Another tip that we had, we mentioned earlier in the podcast that Park MGM is now open, and that's right next to T-Mobile Arena and kind of New York, New York.
- 38:20Dayna Roselli: And when we were talking about that, Sean was like, Oh, is Italy open?
- 38:23Dayna Roselli: So we immediately looked it up, and yes, Italy is back open, and that's one of your favorite spots, and a lot of people don't really know about it, so tell us.
- 38:30Sean McAllister: So Italy is this big Italian, it's kind of it's not an open-air uh Italian marketplace, but it feels like that because it's like this big glass atrium, and it's a little I I guess I'll the best way to describe it is a bunch of little uh kiosks inside.
- 38:49Sean McAllister: There's one uh place where you can get pizza, there's one where you can get fresh seafood, there's one where you can pick your your cut of meat right out of the butcher case.
- 39:01Sean McAllister: There's uh cheeses.
- 39:03Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh, there's the Aperol stand, there's uh the wine bar, there's Italian dessert row is amazing.
- 39:12Sean McAllister: So it's like a uh you can go and basically construct your meal.
- 39:18Dayna Roselli: Like I want pizza from here, I want a side of pasta from this place, right?
- 39:22Dayna Roselli: Like I want to try a glass of wine from this one.
- 39:24Sean McAllister: But the amazing thing is that yes, you can get prepared foods already for you, but they have a marketplace in there too, where you can get all of the ingredients that all of those little restaurant stands use, and you can make your own Italian meal at home if you want to.
- 39:41Sean McAllister: Oh, that's great.
- 39:42Sean McAllister: Every ingredient that they use in those little takeout restaurants in Italy, they have all of the ingredients down at the marketplace, even the wine.
- 39:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 39:53Sean McAllister: So and anything that you get there, you can you can buy it and take it home and create your own Italian meal too.
- 40:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and if and if you walk through there, you'll notice they do have like a lot of products that like you can't get anywhere else.
- 40:05Dayna Roselli: You know, if you're looking for, I don't know, like say you grew up in New York City and you're like, I always used to use this kind of whatever, spice or whatever, the odds are they probably have it because they have all that stuff.
- 40:15Sean McAllister: Oh, it's good, so good.
- 40:17Sean McAllister: And the cannolis.
- 40:18Sean McAllister: Oh, so good.
- 40:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's it's a great, it's a fun place.
- 40:20Dayna Roselli: It's almost because it's like if sometimes you want to go out to eat and you want to be planted, but maybe you want a little bit of an experience.
- 40:25Dayna Roselli: It kind of creates that, you know?
- 40:26Dayna Roselli: So eatily is back open.
- 40:28Dayna Roselli: It's in Park MGM.
- 40:29Dayna Roselli: Go in there, check it out.
- 40:30Dayna Roselli: Even if you just want to get one thing or you want to try them all.
- 40:33Dayna Roselli: Um, it is open for business.
- 40:35Dayna Roselli: And they said the market's open too.
- 40:37Sean McAllister: And that's what we like to hear.
- 40:38Sean McAllister: Open for business.
- 40:40Sean McAllister: And increasingly, Las Vegas is is getting that way.
- 40:44Sean McAllister: Now we're just waiting for the big production shows to get back up and running.
- 40:48Sean McAllister: So we're headed in the right direction.
- 40:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so thanks everyone for joining us again.
- 40:53Dayna Roselli: Um, actually, we celebrated International Podcasting Week this week.
- 40:56Dayna Roselli: So, hey, big shout out to all our international listeners.
- 41:00Dayna Roselli: We'll be back next week with another Vegas reveal.
