- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: of long story shorts the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and today we're going to be discussing Journey of My Heart,
- 0:21Speaker 1: the very last movie in Hallmarks Summer Night series. But
- 0:25Speaker 1: before we get to that, I have some feedback to share.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Ooh, I'm scared.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Don't be.
- 0:31Speaker 1: In last week's episode, we talked about the number of
- 0:35Speaker 1: Chesapeake Shores previews we were seeing and we asked if
- 0:39Speaker 1: it was worth our time, and we got some feedback
- 0:42Speaker 1: from Shorty Michelle, who said I had said, maybe can
- 0:46Speaker 1: I jump in right now season four, whatever season they're in,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and she said, absolutely, do not start now. You need
- 0:53Speaker 1: the backstory. She said, the seasons are short. You can
- 0:56Speaker 1: totally catch up, but you should start at the beginning.
- 1:01Speaker 1: So she a recommended watching be recommended starting from the beginning.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And she said, it's not even though I think we're
- 1:09Speaker 1: thirty something episodes into this series, it's not an insurmountable task.
- 1:13Speaker 1: So they're all right, follow up.
- 1:16Speaker 2: How long are the episodes? Are they thirty minutes? Are
- 1:18Speaker 2: they an hour?
- 1:21Speaker 3: I do not know.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The episodes are in the forty two minute range, with
- 1:27Speaker 1: the exception of the pilot.
- 1:28Speaker 3: That's an hour and ten minutes. All right, I mean
- 1:33Speaker 3: I kind I kind of want.
- 1:35Speaker 2: To watch it, just because part of me longs for
- 1:38Speaker 2: like a soap opera story, and I feel like this
- 1:42Speaker 2: might tick that box.
- 1:44Speaker 1: But it's not gonna be like steamy soap opera.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It's not soap opera light.
- 1:50Speaker 2: That's the problem. I don't want to watch thirty episodes
- 1:52Speaker 2: of a Hamewark movie, do you know what I mean?
- 1:55Speaker 3: I do know what you mean.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So, I mean I like balance baby, I like Hallmark
- 2:01Speaker 2: on one side, and then I like steamy Nephilix stuff
- 2:05Speaker 2: on the other.
- 2:06Speaker 3: So I don't know. I don't know.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So the Chesapeake Shorts question remains unanswered, but there is
- 2:12Speaker 1: the feedback that we have on that.
- 2:15Speaker 2: All right, I may give the pilot a chance. However,
- 2:18Speaker 2: pilots typically are terrible, So maybe I give the pilot
- 2:23Speaker 2: plus one and then see and see how I feel
- 2:26Speaker 2: about it.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, I like it?
- 2:29Speaker 2: All right?
- 2:30Speaker 1: Why don't you hit us with the synopsis of this movie?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Uh, it's Chasing Waterfalls Part two, truly. Okay, here, I'm
- 2:38Speaker 2: gonna read it for you. The official synopsis from the
- 2:41Speaker 2: Hallmark Channel website. Is a young wildlife biologist travels to
- 2:47Speaker 2: a remote Alaskan nesting area of bald eagles, where she
- 2:52Speaker 2: receives inspirational guidance from a Native American family and help
- 2:56Speaker 2: from a mysterious wilderness guide. Star Rihanna rihannan Fish and
- 3:03Speaker 2: Darien Martin. Hy al right, I always screw up people's names,
- 3:07Speaker 2: so I'm not bad.
- 3:10Speaker 1: So let's hop into some news and notes about this movie.
- 3:13Speaker 2: All right, So this was.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Darien Martin's first starring role.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oh okay, he gave me the rock vibes. Some of
- 3:30Speaker 2: the things he said truly sounded like Dwayne Johnson.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I don't disagree with that.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I thought he was handsome to look at acting skills.
- 3:48Speaker 1: This movie was originally titled Love on the Wings.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Of Eagles, and I have to say I think it's
- 3:56Speaker 3: a better title. Oh my heart, I.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Think both idols are awful, but Love on the Wings
- 4:03Speaker 2: of Eagles is sleep terrible. Okay, wait, wait, hold on
- 4:11Speaker 2: a second. Wait, what's that song on the wings of Love?
- 4:16Speaker 2: That's what I hear in my head when I think
- 4:17Speaker 2: what song is that? You know what's who sings that song?
- 4:20Speaker 1: I'm sorry I did not hold on, I don't know
- 4:24Speaker 1: your rendition.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Hold on, Hold on a minute. Where is your husband
- 4:28Speaker 2: when I knew him? Still you know who is this
- 4:36Speaker 2: Jeffrey Osborne?
- 4:38Speaker 3: Hold on? No, wow, Wendy's digging realze.
- 4:49Speaker 2: You don't know this song?
- 4:51Speaker 3: No?
- 4:52Speaker 2: Oh my god, I can't believe you don't know that song.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It did come out in nineteen eighty two. What year
- 4:58Speaker 2: were you born?
- 5:00Speaker 3: Seventy nine? Excuse you?
- 5:01Speaker 2: Okay, well you were three years old when this song
- 5:03Speaker 2: came out.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Oh yes, and you were seven. It's not like you were.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I don't ordering. Now that's what I call music for
- 5:11Speaker 1: in nineteen eighty two.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Anyway, that's that's the song I hear when I hear
- 5:18Speaker 2: Love on the Wings of Eagles. Terrible title, terrible.
- 5:22Speaker 1: All right, Well, this movie took place in Alaska, but
- 5:24Speaker 1: it was filmed in Vancouver, as you know, is Hallmark's Way.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But this was I thought this was really interesting. So
- 5:32Speaker 1: in one of the scenes, there's an Instagram post from
- 5:36Speaker 1: Lucy Guest, who's the director of the movie.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Did you find this?
- 5:39Speaker 2: Uh? Maybe keep going?
- 5:42Speaker 1: So she tags a location as unseated Musqueam, Squamish and
- 5:47Speaker 1: sleigh Watooth Territory. I'm very sorry if I mispronounced the
- 5:51Speaker 1: names of those tribes. But what that means is basically,
- 5:59Speaker 1: the city Vancouver they're quote says they're committed to the
- 6:03Speaker 1: process of decolonization and reconciliation with First Nations and urban
- 6:08Speaker 1: Indigenous communities. So basically they're recognizing that this.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Is stolen land. The unseated ce dee.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Version of that word means like it wasn't given to them,
- 6:19Speaker 1: it was taken land, and so they are in the
- 6:21Speaker 1: process of I don't really understand how that works, but
- 6:25Speaker 1: it says we look forward to working with them in
- 6:26Speaker 1: partnership as we continue to build this great city together.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So I think perhaps it's maybe more ceremonial than anything else,
- 6:36Speaker 1: but it is an acknowledgment from the city. I don't
- 6:39Speaker 1: know how these indigenous groups feel about that, but I
- 6:44Speaker 1: did think it was kind of an interesting tie in,
- 6:46Speaker 1: obviously because we have the indigenous storyline, the micro storyline. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I'm just annoyed with that. I mean, that information is
- 7:00Speaker 1: very interesting that you just shared. I feel like they
- 7:02Speaker 1: promoted this movie as this Native tribute. Yes, exactly, thank you.
- 7:08Speaker 2: That's perfect, and it was such a micro storyline to it,
- 7:12Speaker 2: so I agree I'm like, Okay.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It was almost gratuitous, like a token indigenous person telling
- 7:21Speaker 1: their story, right, which I actually enjoyed the scenes. I
- 7:27Speaker 1: don't know anybody's name in this movie. I have all
- 7:29Speaker 1: of IMDb open Jocko, so his name is actually Ray Thunderchild,
- 7:35Speaker 1: But I enjoyed his scenes. I enjoyed listening to him
- 7:37Speaker 1: speak and tell the stories. Whether or not those were
- 7:41Speaker 1: fabricated for this movie, but I enjoyed that. But it
- 7:44Speaker 1: did feel like, oh, we're gonna throw this in and
- 7:48Speaker 1: make it as part of our commitment to being slightly
- 7:53Speaker 1: more culturally diverse.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree. It's like, oh, like,
- 7:58Speaker 2: we're smurder than that. Come on, let's go, because.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It really fell away at the end totally. The resolution
- 8:06Speaker 1: had nothing to do with any of that, right, Okay,
- 8:09Speaker 1: do we have anything else In news and notes?
- 8:14Speaker 2: This is a little note.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I was listening to the review of this movie from
- 8:21Speaker 2: the podcast deck the Hallmark and they shared this note
- 8:26Speaker 2: that the production group who produced this movie also produced
- 8:33Speaker 2: Chasing Waterfalls. Well, I have seen some similarities here.
- 8:41Speaker 3: They're nearly identical.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Wendy watched this before I did, and she was like,
- 8:45Speaker 1: it's Chasing Waterfalls with eagles, And I thought when she
- 8:50Speaker 1: said that there were, you know, going to be some similarities.
- 8:54Speaker 1: It's like the mad Libs version of Chasing Waterfalls if
- 8:57Speaker 1: you replace.
- 8:58Speaker 2: The word waterfalls with eagles.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Right down to the accidental sharing of a file. This
- 9:07Speaker 1: location information that they got from her camera, and that
- 9:11Speaker 1: was shared unintentionally, and that made this person that she
- 9:15Speaker 1: had made a promise to that she would not share
- 9:18Speaker 1: this secret location. Are there secret locations all over the
- 9:21Speaker 1: place where they're like, oh, here's a secret waterfall, here's
- 9:24Speaker 1: the secret ego habitat.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I mean, is this really a thing? I don't know?
- 9:28Speaker 1: And please show me the camera that can share a
- 9:31Speaker 1: photo in a place where there's no cell reception, because
- 9:33Speaker 1: wouldn't it need wi fiyeah.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Girl, that's funny. That is so funny. Yeah. So, if
- 9:43Speaker 2: I recall correctly, I hated Chasing Waterfalls, and so here
- 9:47Speaker 2: I'm watching a movie that I basically hated the first time.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I mean my first impression of this movie is I
- 9:55Speaker 2: hated it.
- 9:56Speaker 1: So I didn't hate this as much as I dislike
- 10:00Speaker 1: liked Chasing Waterfalls, partially because I enjoyed ran and fish
- 10:04Speaker 1: better than I enjoy. Cindy Busby totally agree. And although
- 10:10Speaker 1: I thought Chasing Waterfalls had some beautiful scenery, I do
- 10:15Speaker 1: think that this scenery in this movie blew that out
- 10:19Speaker 1: of the water. And I do think that was its
- 10:21Speaker 1: best feature was the land and the scenery and the
- 10:27Speaker 1: time that they took to get those overhead shots and
- 10:30Speaker 1: the canoeing shots.
- 10:33Speaker 3: That was enjoyable. But but what is.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Your biggest pet peeve about movies with pretty landscape?
- 10:40Speaker 3: That they rely on it way too much.
- 10:44Speaker 2: The landscape is not the star of the movie.
- 10:46Speaker 1: No, And with that being said, I would like to
- 10:50Speaker 1: share something with you, if I may excuse me for
- 10:54Speaker 1: a second, because Hallmark has now bumped Summer Nights straight
- 10:57Speaker 1: off the main page and I have to dig a
- 11:00Speaker 1: little deeper into the app.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Hello fall it's fall y'all, it's fall y'all.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I was reading some of the reviews. Casting was awful.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I did not care for her at all, and I
- 11:16Speaker 1: would have been more into her his performance if his
- 11:18Speaker 1: role didn't start out with a smug and Erican attitude.
- 11:20Speaker 3: It was a turn off.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Then the scene with the bear or should I say
- 11:24Speaker 1: bears that was worse than the acting performance. You can't
- 11:26Speaker 1: start it with a black bear and then go to
- 11:28Speaker 1: a grizzly and then to a different grizzly and call
- 11:30Speaker 1: them the same bear.
- 11:31Speaker 2: I don't notice.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I didn't either, No wonder most people have no idea
- 11:35Speaker 1: of the difference. Maybe the crew just doesn't know the
- 11:37Speaker 1: difference either, or they're just too lazy, And let's link
- 11:39Speaker 1: all this different footage together and hope it looks right.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm somebody there.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Oh sorry that.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Actually knows wildlife.
- 11:45Speaker 1: It was unbearable to walk.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I'm sure that it's not like they had like a
- 11:53Speaker 2: bear on set, you know what I mean? Like they
- 11:57Speaker 2: took probably stock footage, just like they did in last
- 12:02Speaker 2: week's Canva photos or whatever they were using in a
- 12:05Speaker 2: prior movie. They took stock footage and put it all together.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's funny.
- 12:12Speaker 3: This says the.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Script was boring and lacked authenticity. It was clearly evident
- 12:16Speaker 1: that was not filmed in Alaska. Terrain swimming in the
- 12:18Speaker 1: lake in Alaska not likely?
- 12:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, why I wonder it's freezing. Oh I don't know.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I've never been like the Glacier water runoff. Oh that's funny.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Really, this one says, please do more romance movies which
- 12:31Speaker 1: teach and show us about other cultures, like Cajun's The Creole.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Oh, I would love that Inuit.
- 12:36Speaker 1: In Canada highlight the Appalachian Mountain cultures in West Virginia.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Each migration of cultures have dealt with challenges and kept traditions.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You can teach us and inspire us by just highlighting
- 12:45Speaker 1: natural wonders, national parks, and other regions besides where you
- 12:48Speaker 1: film in Canada, which.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Hey, that's a great note.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Isn't that a good note?
- 12:54Speaker 2: I like, I thought so too, But it's like, okay,
- 12:56Speaker 2: now we got to have like some white cast come
- 13:00Speaker 2: into like do.
- 13:01Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 13:02Speaker 2: H see how that could be problematic?
- 13:06Speaker 3: Yes?
- 13:06Speaker 1: And there was actually a comment here this man says,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I really wanted to like this movie as a Choktaw.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I was thrilled that Hallmark decided to incorporate indigenous people
- 13:15Speaker 1: and storytelling into one of their rom coms. But I
- 13:17Speaker 1: could not get past the absurd notion that an ornithologist
- 13:20Speaker 1: wouldn't have prior field experience, or would think of studying
- 13:23Speaker 1: migratory patterns wouldn't involve actual field experience. What's worse is
- 13:27Speaker 1: that Hallmark did a film in twenty fifteen that more
- 13:30Speaker 1: accurately portrayed ornithology. It just makes no sense that the
- 13:34Speaker 1: biologist would be so unknowledgeable about the area of their
- 13:37Speaker 1: species in habits. Perhaps this is a case of not
- 13:39Speaker 1: being able to suspend reality to enjoy the film because
- 13:41Speaker 1: it hits too close to home. Anyway, there, the Hallmark
- 13:47Speaker 1: movie app has a number of reviews. I was surprised
- 13:51Speaker 1: because IMDb, like I said, had none, and I even
- 13:54Speaker 1: checked Rotten Tomatoes and as of last night, there were
- 13:57Speaker 1: zero on Rotten Tomatoes, which doesn't surprise me. I think
- 13:59Speaker 1: that's more of movies like theater feature films. Yeah, but
- 14:06Speaker 1: so my first impression of this movie is.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Me, I think it could have been so much better
- 14:16Speaker 2: based on all those reviews who who eloquently gave a
- 14:23Speaker 2: better review than I'm giving right now. I stand behind those.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I do too.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Love the idea of like showing other culture cultures. I
- 14:32Speaker 2: think that's I love that idea. What I find problematic
- 14:36Speaker 2: is like, don't make it be like a lead white
- 14:40Speaker 2: couple or whatever, or white female or white male and
- 14:44Speaker 2: then come in and like teach us about this culture
- 14:47Speaker 2: because I just think that is super problematic.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, don't make them the supporting characters in the movie
- 14:53Speaker 1: and then sell it, like you said, as some sort
- 14:57Speaker 1: of indigenous person's experience movie.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Right exactly.
- 15:01Speaker 1: My actress refreshed and the order of the reviews changed,
- 15:06Speaker 1: and the very top review says the acting was great,
- 15:09Speaker 1: did not need the mid drift scene or the extra
- 15:11Speaker 1: long kissing scene at the end.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Other than that, it was an excellent film.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Somebody has to go real deep to be offended by
- 15:18Speaker 1: a Hallmark movie.
- 15:18Speaker 3: All the middrift scene.
- 15:20Speaker 1: There's like a scene in the morning where she's I think,
- 15:22Speaker 1: stretching and you can see her stomach. Oh give me, okay,
- 15:30Speaker 1: I thought they're kissing scene.
- 15:32Speaker 2: I thought they had. Well, okay, let's we'll get there.
- 15:34Speaker 2: We'll get there.
- 15:35Speaker 3: What did you like about this movie?
- 15:37Speaker 2: Okay, So, like I said before, I really liked the
- 15:40Speaker 2: lead girl. I don't even know what her character name
- 15:43Speaker 2: was because I didn't pay that much attention to it,
- 15:46Speaker 2: but her actress name is Rhannan Fish. I thought she
- 15:50Speaker 2: was is it Rihanna.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And Abby Rhianna and Abby Morian.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I thought she was cute and adorable, fairly decent actor.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Based on the stuff she was given to say.
- 16:02Speaker 1: She does a little bit of baby talking.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Oh I didn't notice. I hate baby talking.
- 16:09Speaker 1: It was like she was channeling Elwood's in a couple
- 16:12Speaker 1: of these scenes. But that did go away. Kelly Taylor
- 16:16Speaker 1: is the.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Queen of baby talk. Indeed, Yes, I.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Liked Darien Martin in terms of I thought he was handsome,
- 16:26Speaker 2: uh huh, kind of a blockhead. But I thought they
- 16:30Speaker 2: had like some steamy vibes. And you know, I don't
- 16:35Speaker 2: think a lot of these character these actors have a
- 16:38Speaker 2: lot of like steamy vibes between them. I felt some
- 16:41Speaker 2: steamy vibes between these two.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I agree, although I did feel he was a little
- 16:45Speaker 1: bit stiff as an actor.
- 16:47Speaker 2: He was like walking away in one scene and I
- 16:52Speaker 2: was like, it literally looks like he has a stick
- 16:54Speaker 2: of his butt, like just like poor Gud.
- 16:59Speaker 3: But look at the face, y'all very pretty, very pretty.
- 17:04Speaker 2: That's all I liked about it. What about you?
- 17:06Speaker 1: So, as you mentioned, I did think this was a
- 17:08Speaker 1: beautiful movie. I found those scenes enjoyable, if not enough
- 17:13Speaker 1: to make the movie great. I enjoyed the scenes with Jocko. I.
- 17:19Speaker 1: There was a point at which Abby Rhannon gets mad
- 17:24Speaker 1: at Eric and she goes roll over Beethoven because she
- 17:27Speaker 1: calls him Beethoven. And I was like, that is the
- 17:29Speaker 1: perfect Hallmark insult, because they can't be like e f Off. Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 1: so I really it just made me laugh because I
- 17:36Speaker 1: was like, of course, like this is the mildest insult
- 17:39Speaker 1: they can offer.
- 17:40Speaker 3: It did make me laugh. I thought that was enjoyable.
- 17:44Speaker 2: That's all you liked about it? All right? What did
- 17:48Speaker 2: you wish for?
- 17:50Speaker 1: I wished that they didn't finish with Abby Morgan.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I love you.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I know, right, Abby Morgan, that's a little presumptuous, and
- 17:59Speaker 1: she goes, no, it's not, Yes it is.
- 18:02Speaker 2: It's been a week. I love you.
- 18:06Speaker 1: You went camping for three days and you love her Hallmark.
- 18:11Speaker 1: We can have a romantic end to this movie without
- 18:15Speaker 1: I love you.
- 18:17Speaker 3: There's another line.
- 18:19Speaker 2: We haven't even gotten it. I love you and a
- 18:22Speaker 2: kiss at an end of a movie in a really
- 18:24Speaker 2: long time.
- 18:26Speaker 1: No, And I appreciate that they've stayed away from that.
- 18:29Speaker 1: And I feel like they're like, we got to go
- 18:30Speaker 1: back to it. We got to go back to our
- 18:31Speaker 1: bread and butter. If they're not in love and a week,
- 18:33Speaker 1: we're failing and no, no, no, let's let the relationship grow,
- 18:39Speaker 1: Abby Morgan.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I like you, Abby Morgan. I want to see you again.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Abby Morgan. You changed my life.
- 18:46Speaker 1: But I love you too quick, too soon?
- 18:50Speaker 2: Me. I agree? I agree?
- 18:52Speaker 3: What did you wish for?
- 18:54Speaker 2: I mean all those things? Like, I just a better
- 18:57Speaker 2: movie from top to bottom? Just I mean, I feel
- 19:02Speaker 2: like you could have this Eagle storyline with a whole,
- 19:08Speaker 2: entirely different narrative. Why rewrite the same frickin' Chasing Waterfalls movie?
- 19:15Speaker 2: I just don't understand.
- 19:17Speaker 1: We can't come up with the conflicts, so let's pick
- 19:19Speaker 1: the exact same conflict we've used before.
- 19:22Speaker 2: It's bizarre to me, Like I share hope the writer
- 19:25Speaker 2: of Chasing Waterfalls got some credit for this idea. You know, Yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 2: I just I wanted. I wanted for the last movie
- 19:38Speaker 2: of Summer Nights. Make it a good one. Don't make
- 19:41Speaker 2: it some stinker that you just threw on there towards
- 19:43Speaker 2: the end, you know what I mean?
- 19:46Speaker 3: I agree?
- 19:48Speaker 2: I just I hated it. I hate I just hate
- 19:50Speaker 2: the whole thing.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Sorry that it's okay. I did not enjoy it either.
- 19:56Speaker 3: What do you have for? Did you see that.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Two things one? At some point They make Abby come
- 20:03Speaker 2: off as real dumb, like she is like a a
- 20:07Speaker 2: biologist that has had some sort of postgraduate experience. I'm
- 20:15Speaker 2: gonna guess right, she knows where to put a tent.
- 20:19Speaker 2: She's not putting the tent on the fire ring or whatever.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Do you know what scene I'm talking about?
- 20:25Speaker 3: Yes, she goes, how I put it there? And he goes, yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 3: it's a fire pit.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Give me a break.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Anybody who with two brain cells is not going to
- 20:32Speaker 1: put it over the pile of rocks.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yes, exactly, yes stupid. Don't make her like don't make
- 20:38Speaker 2: her like smart, but like doesn't have survival skills.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Well. Also, in the scene right before they leave for
- 20:47Speaker 1: their hike, she's like, oh, we're hiking, and oh we're
- 20:51Speaker 1: sleeping in a tent, and oh it's going to take
- 20:53Speaker 1: us several days, and oh we're going to be gone
- 20:54Speaker 1: for a while.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Why is this all a surprise to you?
- 20:57Speaker 3: I don't I don't understand. Yeah, don't make her a dummy.
- 21:02Speaker 2: It makes me mad, and I wish that somebody would
- 21:04Speaker 2: have been like, you know what, this doesn't make sense.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Where's the person on this crew that goes this story
- 21:12Speaker 2: doesn't make sense.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Yeah, the continuity expert, don't know somebody.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Okay, here's the other thing. Did you see that He
- 21:19Speaker 2: was showing her or giving her a selection of freeze
- 21:23Speaker 2: dride food to take, uh huh, and she's like, ooh,
- 21:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna take this and oh, I'm gonna take this
- 21:27Speaker 2: in this and he goes, ah, you like to eat,
- 21:30Speaker 2: and I was like, fuck off, dude, Like yeah, she's
- 21:34Speaker 2: a human, she wants to eat. You know. It's just
- 21:36Speaker 2: like why is that who wrote that line? Like that's
- 21:40Speaker 2: so stupid.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and also like you're a big burly dude, Like
- 21:44Speaker 1: you're telling me you're not eating a big meal, like
- 21:45Speaker 1: muscles take fuel, right.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And it's the strawberry shortcake.
- 21:54Speaker 3: The only thing she had on her backpack was food.
- 21:56Speaker 3: She didn't pack anything else.
- 21:57Speaker 1: And then she manages to have like a different outfit
- 21:59Speaker 1: every day and apparently a battery powered curling iron, because
- 22:02Speaker 1: she comes back from three days with perfectly girled hair.
- 22:07Speaker 2: And like a clean face and like her cloes aren't wrinkled.
- 22:13Speaker 2: There was also one scene she had a terrible outfit onto.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I think it's when she first got to the wilderness
- 22:21Speaker 2: or whatever. She just had like terrible, like mismatch of clothes,
- 22:25Speaker 2: like something I would pull from my closet because I
- 22:29Speaker 2: don't typically visit like Alaska, you know what I mean,
- 22:34Speaker 2: Like terrible boots that don't match with your pants, or
- 22:38Speaker 2: and your top is a totally different color and you
- 22:40Speaker 2: got these bright yellow socks. It just was awful. I
- 22:42Speaker 2: was like, who dressed this trick? Oh awful?
- 22:45Speaker 1: Well, speaking of her clothes, there's a scene where they're
- 22:48Speaker 1: sitting I don't know, rock orl log and her feet
- 22:51Speaker 1: are up in front of her so you can see
- 22:52Speaker 1: her feet in her socks and her socks are over
- 22:56Speaker 1: the outside of her pants. Yes, yes, And seems to
- 22:59Speaker 1: me they must have had a really bad bug problem
- 23:02Speaker 1: because there's no other reason that there's That's not a
- 23:05Speaker 1: stylistic choice. There's no reason you would do that intentionally
- 23:09Speaker 1: unless you needed to keep ticks or exactly something out
- 23:13Speaker 1: of your pants.
- 23:15Speaker 2: That's what I thought. I saw the same thing, and
- 23:17Speaker 2: I was like, I whenever they have a tick problem,
- 23:19Speaker 2: like the same thing. Yeah, nobody wants to come home
- 23:24Speaker 2: with lime disease, okay on these Wholemark movies.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Look, I appreciate I appreciate it, and you know, maybe
- 23:31Speaker 1: you would do that when you were hiking. Anyway, I
- 23:33Speaker 1: have a few. The first is very small, but in
- 23:36Speaker 1: the first scene where they're canoeing, Uh, the character Ellen
- 23:43Speaker 1: has black electrical tape over the logo on her life jacket,
- 23:50Speaker 1: which was weird because the other logos you could see,
- 23:52Speaker 1: like Eric's was a Bodyglove Life. One of them was
- 23:55Speaker 1: wearing a Bodyglove Life jacket. The other one had a
- 23:57Speaker 1: brand I didn't recognize, but hers had black tape, and
- 24:00Speaker 1: so it was like, oh, we can't advertise this company
- 24:02Speaker 1: for whatever reason. So they just stuck hoping you wouldn't notice,
- 24:07Speaker 1: like they do on like reality television when people are
- 24:10Speaker 1: wearing a brand that they can't from home and they
- 24:12Speaker 1: blur it out or I remember in the early days
- 24:15Speaker 1: of the Real World they used to just put like
- 24:16Speaker 1: straight up tape over their shirts.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah. So anyway, North Face are uh, what's the other
- 24:24Speaker 2: one are EI, I don't know whatever. Didn't want their
- 24:27Speaker 2: name associated with it or what.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Apparently not.
- 24:31Speaker 1: When she leaves the hotel, she has a backpack and
- 24:35Speaker 1: a tiny double bag. Girlfriend has changed her clothes like
- 24:37Speaker 1: nine times. Her outfits would not have fit in there.
- 24:40Speaker 1: She has with hiking boots. No, where's her curling iron?
- 24:43Speaker 1: Where's the toilet trees?
- 24:44Speaker 2: No?
- 24:45Speaker 1: Why can't you have a ractual suitcase?
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:47Speaker 3: Totally.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Did you notice that her co workers names were Megan
- 24:56Speaker 1: and Harry?
- 24:57Speaker 2: No? I didn't.
- 24:58Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I don't know if it was intentional, but at one
- 25:01Speaker 1: point they said, oh, Megan and Harry will handle it,
- 25:03Speaker 1: or I need to talk to Megan and Harry.
- 25:04Speaker 2: And yes, I was really hoping you're going to say
- 25:07Speaker 2: their coworkers' names were Megan and Wendy, and then I
- 25:10Speaker 2: might have made attention. I didn't notice Megan and Harry.
- 25:15Speaker 3: No, bunny.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Oh why why does Eric need a harmonica?
- 25:23Speaker 2: Seriously? I agree because he's a musician, right, a pianist
- 25:29Speaker 2: who also plays the harmonica.
- 25:31Speaker 3: And you can't carry a piano around. I don't know.
- 25:33Speaker 3: I fought the harmonica annoying.
- 25:38Speaker 1: This dude's so boring. Well, got to give him something
- 25:40Speaker 1: to do. So here's his thing, and his thing is
- 25:43Speaker 1: apparently the harmonica.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and which she was calling it a kazoo or
- 25:47Speaker 2: some crap like that.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, because he was calling her a birdwatcher.
- 25:53Speaker 2: I thought they had steamy vibes between them. Maybe they
- 25:56Speaker 2: just had annoying vibes between each.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Other, so they switched really quickly.
- 26:01Speaker 1: It did start off antagonistic and then very quickly it
- 26:04Speaker 1: just became like kind of teasing as opposed to they
- 26:08Speaker 1: didn't like each other, which I'm glad they made the
- 26:12Speaker 1: switch quickly because I am not here.
- 26:14Speaker 3: I don't enjoy the.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I hate you, I love you me neither can't say it.
- 26:20Speaker 1: All Right, well, it is time to rate this movie.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I'm sure it's going to be the lowest of the season.
- 26:25Speaker 1: So what are you giving it?
- 26:27Speaker 2: One star? Yeah, it's a one star because I like
- 26:30Speaker 2: the lead actress. But other than that, hated the whole thing.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Otherwise it wouldn't even be on the board. Seriously, they
- 26:37Speaker 1: didn't finish strong although our experience with Christmas is that
- 26:40Speaker 1: they didn't finish those movies particularly strongly either. You know,
- 26:44Speaker 1: they kind of pile the best like from thanksgivingp to
- 26:50Speaker 1: mid Christmas, and the up top and the late movies.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Are their stinkers.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Yeah, put a stinker on Thursday night, not no, like
- 26:58Speaker 2: a Saturday night. You know.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 27:03Speaker 2: I gotta say maybe they put the most hold on.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Maybe they put the worst movie on because they really
- 27:14Speaker 2: want people to watch next week's Tyler Hines movie.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I don't know. I really don't know how that helps
- 27:21Speaker 3: Tyler Hans at all.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Well, because let me give you from my personal experience. Okay,
- 27:26Speaker 2: this movie was so bad that I'm looking forward to
- 27:28Speaker 2: next week's movie. Oh it's interesting, which I mean. I
- 27:32Speaker 2: don't look forward to these movies, and when I do,
- 27:34Speaker 2: they're usually a dud. So I'm kind of nervous for
- 27:39Speaker 2: next week now.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Well, I feel like the average Hallmark movie watcher doesn't
- 27:44Speaker 1: feel compelled to watch the Hallmark movie every week as
- 27:47Speaker 1: we do, so I feel like a stinker makes me less.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Likely to come back. Oh interesting, all right, except that
- 27:55Speaker 3: I have to.
- 27:56Speaker 2: So you wouldn't watch the Tyler Hines I.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Would watch it.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Tyler Heiness movie doesn't. I would, But this movie doesn't
- 28:04Speaker 1: make me more likely to come back for it. Tyler
- 28:07Speaker 1: Hines makes me likely to come back. Not a stinker
- 28:09Speaker 1: preceding Tyler Hines.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Got it? I hear you, I hear you, I hear you.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Now let me ask you your regular Hallmark movie watching experience.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Would the Fall movies include that if you weren't reviewing.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Them, I would probably record them and may or may
- 28:29Speaker 1: not get to them all. Although I was watching this
- 28:34Speaker 1: Journey of My Heart last night and I asked my
- 28:36Speaker 1: husband if you wanted to watch it, and he goes, no,
- 28:37Speaker 1: But the Fall movies start next weekend, so apparently he's
- 28:41Speaker 1: interested in watching those, and so.
- 28:44Speaker 3: It's one of those.
- 28:45Speaker 1: If we were going to watch it together, I'm far
- 28:47Speaker 1: more likely to watch it outside of needing to watch
- 28:49Speaker 1: it for a podcast, so we usually catch a few.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Well, I gotta tell you, I am looking forward to
- 28:55Speaker 2: Roadhouse Romance. I like country music. If I get a
- 28:59Speaker 2: little song and dance and some like I don't know
- 29:03Speaker 2: Fall vibes, I might be super into it. I'm kind
- 29:06Speaker 2: of excited for it. So what else is coming up
- 29:10Speaker 2: for Fall? I don't remember.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Now.
- 29:14Speaker 1: For Fall, we have six premiers immediately after Oh my goodness, okay,
- 29:21Speaker 1: immediately the House of Romance. We have raised Black to
- 29:23Speaker 1: Love with one Pablo depay Depache and who is most
- 29:31Speaker 1: well known for being Fernando on Fuller House.
- 29:35Speaker 3: I've never seen him in anything else.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I'm interested to see him without his very fake accent.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Yeah me too.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Actually, as of today, September eighth, the movies premiere in
- 29:47Speaker 1: September twenty fifth and later do not have their full
- 29:51Speaker 1: images in the Hallmark Movie app.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Do they have a title?
- 29:57Speaker 1: We have taking the reins, I Love twice, South Beach
- 30:02Speaker 1: Love all advice to Love Buy, and they don't have
- 30:08Speaker 1: any other information in the app, including.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Leads.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Do we think South Beach Love is a COVID rom com?
- 30:18Speaker 2: I'm sorry, it just takes place in like the hotbed,
- 30:21Speaker 2: you know.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Yes, I think is doing out everything they can to
- 30:25Speaker 1: pretend COVID doesn't exist.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Well, I gotta tell you, I'm looking
- 30:32Speaker 2: forward to next week's Tyler Heiney. I'm here for Yeah, I'm.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Ready for it to I could use some Fall content
- 30:39Speaker 1: in my life.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Me too. I think I'm gonna drag out my Fall
- 30:42Speaker 2: of decor today.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, surely it's such a braid.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Maybe not.
- 30:49Speaker 3: You're gonna be so tired of it by Thanksgiving.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I know, I know, I know.
- 30:52Speaker 3: I'm into it.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I'm excited. Let's go Fall Harvest.
- 30:56Speaker 1: So, speaking of Fall, this week's main episode of the podcast,
- 30:59Speaker 1: what everything we're looking forward to in Fall? Like we said,
- 31:04Speaker 1: it's early September and I think it's going to be
- 31:07Speaker 1: ninety degrees here today so it's not fall, and Fall
- 31:10Speaker 1: doesn't even officially start for several weeks, but we're looking.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Forward to it, and we talked about all those things
- 31:15Speaker 3: we're looking forward to because we needed a.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Little joy in our lives. So give that a listen.
- 31:20Speaker 1: We'll be back again on Tuesday with another regular episode
- 31:23Speaker 1: of the podcast and kicking off Fall Harvest next Thursday.
- 31:27Speaker 1: If you haven't yet, we would love it if you
- 31:28Speaker 1: would take a second and leave a rating or a
- 31:31Speaker 1: review for the podcast. That helps us out a lot.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Tell your friends, share the podcast on social media. That's
- 31:37Speaker 1: an easy freeway you can support us and we'll see
- 31:40Speaker 1: you next week.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Guys, Bye bye,
