Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 1: Trump wants to get to the moon!
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is 710WOR, where the Mark Simone Show starts now.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Whoa! This is quite a week. This is like the
- 0:12Speaker 2: final week. I mean, this is leading right into Labor Day.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I mean, it's officially summer well into September, but this
- 0:18Speaker 2: is really the final week of summer for a lot
- 0:21Speaker 2: of people. Labor Day, I don't know how it got
- 0:24Speaker 2: here so fast, but it's here. We got a lot
- 0:27Speaker 2: to get to. President Trump renaming things again. This drives
- 0:31Speaker 2: the left nuts. They go crazy when he does this. Now,
- 0:35Speaker 2: you remember, these Democrats, these left-wingers, they renamed everything in America.
- 0:40Speaker 2: They renamed every military base. They renamed towns. Remember, they
- 0:45Speaker 2: renamed a mountain. Mount McKinley had to become something else.
- 0:48Speaker 2: They renamed 500 things without blinking a He renames one thing.
- 0:54Speaker 2: They're up in arms. They can't believe it. Who the
- 0:56Speaker 2: hell is he to rename anything? But Lake Ontario's Lake America.
- 1:01Speaker 2: You know who plays along with this? It's Google. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 2: if you look at Google Maps already, it says Lake America.
- 1:08Speaker 2: They're getting a lot of flack for being a little
- 1:11Speaker 2: too busy catering to the Trump administration. But Google Maps,
- 1:15Speaker 2: if you look on it, you'll see Lake America. Google
- 1:18Speaker 2: Maps arguing... that they have to go by whatever the
- 1:22Speaker 2: official government agency, uh, name is. And apparently president Trump
- 1:27Speaker 2: having control of that agency, uh, officially named it like America.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So Google will go along with it. Now there's that, uh, uh,
- 1:35Speaker 2: there's the, uh, the Canadian prime minister, but, uh, Ontario,
- 1:39Speaker 2: the province, these provinces like Ontario have premiers. So, uh,
- 1:46Speaker 2: This is premier Ford of Ontario. He's the premier. Then
- 1:49Speaker 2: you see the guy and he looks like Ed Asner,
- 1:52Speaker 2: most unimpressive looking guy, but he's all up in arms
- 1:55Speaker 2: about this Lake America.
- 1:56Speaker 3: It was like something out of Saturday Night Live when
- 1:59Speaker 3: he signed a document saying change to Lake America. No
- 2:04Speaker 3: one's going to call it Lake of America. It's been
- 2:07Speaker 3: Lake Ontario for hundreds of years. It's going to continue
- 2:10Speaker 3: being Lake Ontario. And it's just so, so disappointing.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Well, all right. We'll call it that for a few weeks,
- 2:19Speaker 2: just to annoy you. Just to annoy you. As I say,
- 2:21Speaker 2: Google Maps, it says Lake America. But apparently they can
- 2:24Speaker 2: do this. If you're in Canada, it'll still say Lake Ontario.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But whenever Trump does anything that's a Democratic thing, Democrats
- 2:33Speaker 2: rename everything. Everything constantly. Bases. They tear down statues. They
- 2:38Speaker 2: rename cities. They rename neighborhoods. But as soon as he
- 2:41Speaker 2: does anything Democratic, they go nuts. So it was interesting.
- 2:46Speaker 2: He visited NASA on Friday, and he's very interested in
- 2:51Speaker 2: the moon, which he'll probably rename. It'll be probably Moon
- 2:54Speaker 2: America or something, but he's really interested in going back there.
- 2:58Speaker 2: And he's right. We shouldn't have abandoned the space program
- 3:01Speaker 2: when we did. We just gave up on it. It
- 3:04Speaker 2: was a big part of the Kennedy administration. In 1960, 61,
- 3:07Speaker 2: he took office, and he said, by the end of
- 3:12Speaker 2: the decade, we'll land a man on the moon. It
- 3:15Speaker 2: sounded insane at the time. It sounded like something so
- 3:19Speaker 2: far in the future, but he did it by the
- 3:21Speaker 2: end of the decade, 1969. So the president, before he
- 3:26Speaker 2: leaves office, which is two years before he leaves office,
- 3:29Speaker 2: he wants to land a man on the moon. And
- 3:33Speaker 2: he thinks it's very important. Big speech at NASA on Friday.
- 3:38Speaker 4: From the very beginning, America has always been a frontier
- 3:41Speaker 4: nation and Space is the highest of all the frontiers.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Our manifest destiny is to explore and settle this great unknown,
- 3:49Speaker 4: carry forward the light of American liberty into the stars.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So, it's a great goal. You know, it was very
- 3:58Speaker 2: important that we landed a man on the moon in 1969,
- 4:02Speaker 2: and it led to important things if we landed a
- 4:06Speaker 2: man on the moon. I don't know exactly what. It
- 4:11Speaker 2: looked good. The pictures were fascinating. And then we sent
- 4:14Speaker 2: more men to the moon and well, they walked around,
- 4:19Speaker 2: they collected some rocks. Remember that one astronaut hit a
- 4:23Speaker 2: golf ball on the moon. The outside of that, I
- 4:27Speaker 2: don't know what the, they keep telling us that, well,
- 4:29Speaker 2: we're going to colonize it. We're going to have data
- 4:31Speaker 2: centers there. We're going to, I don't know how you're
- 4:32Speaker 2: going to do any of that, but it's a great goal.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Before the end of my term, American astronauts will return
- 4:38Speaker 4: to the lunar surface at We're looking forward to that.
- 4:41Speaker 2: We'll do it.
- 4:42Speaker 4: And we're then going to the next step. And when
- 4:45Speaker 4: we do, they'll plant this very important flag to mark
- 4:49Speaker 4: the site of the first permanent American settlement on the moon.
- 4:52Speaker 4: They're going to have a settlement. They're building a settlement
- 4:54Speaker 4: up in the moon.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:56Speaker 2: All right. I don't know who want to live there.
- 4:59Speaker 2: You know, some people move to Rockland County and say, well,
- 5:02Speaker 2: that's a little too far to commute. But can you
- 5:04Speaker 2: imagine from the moon? I mean, what does that mean?
- 5:08Speaker 2: We're going to live on the moon. What does that mean?
- 5:10Speaker 2: They'll have a Starbucks. They'll have a Costco. There'll be
- 5:13Speaker 2: a Chipotle. I mean, that's really all it means. So, hey,
- 5:18Speaker 2: this is fascinating. Now, you know, Jimmy Fallon is still
- 5:23Speaker 2: on the air. That's the Tonight Show. I mean, that's
- 5:26Speaker 2: the original late night show. It's hard to cancel that.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But Jimmy Kimmel is very close to being canceled. Remember,
- 5:34Speaker 2: his contract ended and they wouldn't give him a new contract.
- 5:38Speaker 2: They just put him on a one-year extension, which he's
- 5:40Speaker 2: on now. One-year extension, and he's taking the summer off.
- 5:45Speaker 2: That's kind of the Howard Stern model, and it led
- 5:47Speaker 2: to pretty much the end of Howard Stern, which we'll
- 5:49Speaker 2: get to coming up. But Colbert, fired, thrown off the air,
- 5:56Speaker 2: low ratings. And who would they replace him with? Well,
- 6:00Speaker 2: they decided to do something a little different. They turned
- 6:02Speaker 2: the time, the one hour on CBS at 11.30 a.m.
- 6:05Speaker 2: over to Byron Allen he actually buys the time from
- 6:08Speaker 2: CBS and he does a late night show but it's
- 6:11Speaker 2: nothing like Kimmel or Colbert or Fallon there's no political
- 6:15Speaker 2: jokes there's no angry politics it's just old-fashioned comedy it's
- 6:19Speaker 2: called Comics Unleashed and they have four comedians on every
- 6:23Speaker 2: show and Byron Allen interviews them but it's all it's
- 6:28Speaker 2: all pre-arranged they know you know what jokes the guy
- 6:31Speaker 2: has so every question is to lead into part of
- 6:33Speaker 2: his routine but it's very funny comics unleashed good comedy
- 6:37Speaker 2: show now here's the interesting part it is now beating
- 6:40Speaker 2: jimmy fallon on the tonight show it is now beating
- 6:44Speaker 2: jimmy kimmel live in the most important demo of all
- 6:48Speaker 2: that's 18 to 49 that's the key demo for tv
- 6:52Speaker 2: shows byron allen's comic comics unleashed now beating fallon beating
- 7:00Speaker 2: kimmel it's actually uh uh is it a two-hour show Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 2: he's also on against Late Night with Seth Meyers, and
- 7:10Speaker 2: he's beating Late Night with Seth Meyers. So this is interesting.
- 7:15Speaker 2: This is old-fashioned comedy. This was the idea of Late
- 7:18Speaker 2: Night TV. You'd have a few laughs, something entertaining, enjoyable
- 7:23Speaker 2: laughs before you go to sleep. The idea was not
- 7:26Speaker 2: get all riled up and screaming about Trump and hate
- 7:29Speaker 2: Trump and get all mad and angry with Colbert. Uh,
- 7:33Speaker 2: so Byron Allen, I remember when first, first week, he
- 7:37Speaker 2: only had 600,000. Well, he's now beating in the key demo,
- 7:40Speaker 2: which is the most important. He's beating Fallon. He's beating Kimmel.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So that's big news. You're seeing a turning point there. So, uh,
- 7:50Speaker 2: as they're getting ready to dump Kimmel, ABC might be
- 7:54Speaker 2: looking at something like that. Let's just go to old
- 7:56Speaker 2: fashioned comedy. So, um, um, President Trump also, Iran, there
- 8:02Speaker 2: was action over the weekend. We bombed, hang on, Larrick Island,
- 8:10Speaker 2: famous Larrick Island, which is important strategically for Iran. So
- 8:16Speaker 2: we took that out. And the president putting up an
- 8:19Speaker 2: AI video of the blowing up of Karg Island, a
- 8:23Speaker 2: little threat that we might just get rid of Karg Island,
- 8:25Speaker 2: which is their whole economy, And if that goes, that
- 8:29Speaker 2: means Iran not only has no economy, but could not
- 8:33Speaker 2: possibly have one for another 10 years. That's how long
- 8:35Speaker 2: it would take to rebuild all of that. Karg Island
- 8:38Speaker 2: is their entire oil storage, oil facility, their oil depots.
- 8:42Speaker 2: When it comes to transporting oil and all that, it
- 8:45Speaker 2: comes from Karg Island. So without Karg Island, there is
- 8:48Speaker 2: no more oil industry in Iraq, Iran. Now, the Strait
- 8:53Speaker 2: of Hormuz has been open. It's definitely been open. We've had...
- 8:57Speaker 2: Something like 1,500 tankers come through there with many, many, many, many,
- 9:02Speaker 2: many millions of gallons of oil. So that's one reason
- 9:06Speaker 2: the price of oil has not spiked. It's gone up
- 9:08Speaker 2: a little, but there's no spike. Remember under Biden when
- 9:12Speaker 2: it was $ 110 a barrel? Right now, let me check.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's gone up a hair. See, that's what I mean.
- 9:19Speaker 2: It just goes up just slightly. Right now, it is
- 9:24Speaker 2: $ 85 a barrel. Just up a little from what's normal. Hey,
- 9:28Speaker 2: you got Crazy Mom Donnie. We'll get to him coming up.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Kathy Hochul running against him, trying anything and everything. Do
- 9:37Speaker 2: you know that it was actually illegal to dance in
- 9:39Speaker 2: a restaurant in New York State? There was a law
- 9:43Speaker 2: against it. You're not allowed to dance in a restaurant.
- 9:45Speaker 2: It's an old law from the 20s or something, from
- 9:47Speaker 2: a million years ago. So she's so desperate for trying
- 9:51Speaker 2: to score points in any possible way. She's repealed that law.
- 9:55Speaker 2: You can now dance in a New York City restaurant.
- 10:00Speaker 2: All right. So she gets Kevin Bacon. Somehow Kevin Bacon
- 10:04Speaker 2: gets suckered into this, doing a commercial with her. Now,
- 10:08Speaker 2: this is the problem with Kathy Hochul. She's sometimes not
- 10:12Speaker 2: very self-aware, doesn't realize how goofy she looks, doesn't realize
- 10:16Speaker 2: how dopey she is. doesn't realize how lame this commercial sounds.
- 10:21Speaker 2: This is her and Kevin Bacon. Consultants convince them that
- 10:25Speaker 2: this is cute. This is wonderful. You see, the consultants
- 10:28Speaker 2: make money on the commercial. If you need to make
- 10:31Speaker 2: a commercial, they get a part of the production cost.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And then you got to air it, which means you
- 10:36Speaker 2: got to buy time. They get a piece of the
- 10:38Speaker 2: time by. So consultants make a fortune. Campaign consultants make
- 10:43Speaker 2: all their money off commercials. So they'll convince you this
- 10:45Speaker 2: is a good idea. And when it's done, they'll say, wow,
- 10:48Speaker 2: it's powerful. It's great. Take a listen to it.
- 10:51Speaker 5: New York, did you know that for years, dancing was
- 10:53Speaker 5: banned in many bars and nightclubs?
- 10:55Speaker 2: Banned? You mean it was illegal to dance?
- 11:00Speaker 1: That's right, Kevin Bacon.
- 11:02Speaker 2: If I was to come into this club and wanted
- 11:04Speaker 2: to say salsa? Nada. Macarena? Macanono. Whip?
- 11:09Speaker 1: Nay-nay.
- 11:10Speaker 5: The state used to demand you get a license to
- 11:11Speaker 5: allow dancing, but we tossed that rule out.
- 11:14Speaker 2: What do you say to that, Kevin? I say... Let's dance. Oh, God. Yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 2: keep running that. Bruce Blakeman will pay for you to
- 11:26Speaker 2: run that. He'll pay for the cost of running that ad.
- 11:29Speaker 2: That is embarrassing. That is one awful ad. Hey, now,
- 11:33Speaker 2: this is interesting. You know, the fake news just lies.
- 11:37Speaker 2: On NBC, CBS, ABC. I mean, yeah, they slant the
- 11:41Speaker 2: news to be anti-Trump. If there's anything anti-Trump, they report it.
- 11:46Speaker 2: If there's anything pro-Trump, they don't report it. If there's anything,
- 11:51Speaker 2: if the Democrats do something horrible, they never report it.
- 11:53Speaker 2: They never mention it. So you got the slant, but
- 11:55Speaker 2: they actually also out and out lie. They just make
- 11:59Speaker 2: up lies all the time. You remember Trump put kids
- 12:03Speaker 2: in cages? It's a total lie, complete lie. Well, I
- 12:06Speaker 2: saw the pictures of the kids in cages. They were
- 12:08Speaker 2: all from the Obama administration. He's the one that put
- 12:11Speaker 2: the kids in cages. They just lie about it. So
- 12:16Speaker 2: He's decided, President Trump, he's not wrong about this. This
- 12:19Speaker 2: might be a good idea. What do you do about it? Well,
- 12:22Speaker 2: all these TV networks own TV stations and they need
- 12:25Speaker 2: licenses to do that. And they're FCC licenses. And it
- 12:29Speaker 2: is a violation of FCC rules to go on the
- 12:32Speaker 2: air and just out and out lie. You're not supposed
- 12:35Speaker 2: to do that. So Kristen Welker, NBC, Meet the Press,
- 12:39Speaker 2: always broadcasting false information. is talking about the primaries and
- 12:45Speaker 2: how Trump endorsing candidates. Well, she said he had a
- 12:50Speaker 2: mixed record. Well, that's not true at all. He had
- 12:54Speaker 2: an incredibly successful record. Trump made 313 endorsements, had a 96%
- 12:58Speaker 2: success rate in GOP primaries, 100% success rate in GOP
- 13:03Speaker 2: Senate primaries, 98% success rate in the House primaries. He
- 13:16Speaker 2: had a hugely successful endorsement. So she's just lying when
- 13:19Speaker 2: she said it was mixed results, mixed results. Yeah, 98-2.
- 13:24Speaker 2: That's not that mixed. So President Trump has called for
- 13:28Speaker 2: the FCC to take action against her, which they can.
- 13:32Speaker 2: They can go after NBC if you deliberately broadcast false information.
- 13:36Speaker 2: And what do you do about this fake news, the
- 13:38Speaker 2: press totally conning people left and right? It's a dangerous
- 13:42Speaker 2: thing if it were on either side, trying to run
- 13:46Speaker 2: a democracy when you've got fake news, total fake news.
- 13:50Speaker 2: So about the only thing you can do about it
- 13:51Speaker 2: is just go after them for lies. Just get the
- 13:54Speaker 2: law to come in and enforce this and try to
- 13:56Speaker 2: stop them. Now, she's yelling and screaming, of course, but
- 14:00Speaker 2: she did lie. She was caught lying. Hey, I'll give
- 14:03Speaker 2: you another example. President Trump is not going to speak
- 14:07Speaker 2: at the 9-11 ceremony. He's not coming to New York.
- 14:11Speaker 2: He'll speak on 9-11 at the Pentagon. He'll be there
- 14:16Speaker 2: for that ceremony, but he's not coming to New York.
- 14:19Speaker 2: And you may have read, you may have heard, the
- 14:22Speaker 2: reason he's not coming is they wouldn't allow him to speak.
- 14:26Speaker 2: That's the reason, because they're not going to allow him
- 14:28Speaker 2: to speak. Well, that's fake news, total fake news. You
- 14:32Speaker 2: can credit Maggie Haberman and the New York Times for
- 14:35Speaker 2: a totally fake, ridiculous, completely made-up story. That's not true.
- 14:41Speaker 2: That's not the reason. And President Trump pointing that out,
- 14:45Speaker 2: calling her a stalker. She really is horrible, just makes
- 14:49Speaker 2: up stuff all the time. Now, the fact is, nobody
- 14:54Speaker 2: speaks at the September 11th ceremony at Ground Zero. No
- 14:58Speaker 2: politicians speak. Now, the first couple of years, there were
- 15:01Speaker 2: some politicians that spoke, but in 2012, It was decided
- 15:06Speaker 2: that never again would they have politicians or anybody speak.
- 15:09Speaker 2: They would only allow the family to speak. The families,
- 15:13Speaker 2: they didn't want to distract from them. So it was
- 15:15Speaker 2: all about the family. So for the last 14 years,
- 15:19Speaker 2: there had never been any speakers ever at Ground Zero
- 15:23Speaker 2: and 9-11. And Trump has been to many of those
- 15:26Speaker 2: 9-11 ceremonies. And he said, I've been there over the
- 15:29Speaker 2: years many times. No one ever speaks. There's no such
- 15:32Speaker 2: thing as making a speech there. So Haberman just made
- 15:36Speaker 2: that up, just completely made it up. It's totally false.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Trump posting, she's a stalker. She should be forced to
- 15:45Speaker 2: turn over any and all money that she's made through
- 15:48Speaker 2: her reporting on me. That's actually a pretty good idea.
- 15:51Speaker 2: She just made up this whole fake story. And again,
- 15:54Speaker 2: it's tough to run a democracy when you get all
- 15:56Speaker 2: this fake information being broadcast. So we've got a lot
- 16:00Speaker 2: to get to. We'll get to Crazy Mom Donnie and
- 16:03Speaker 2: his schemes falling apart and a whole lot more. Mark
- 16:07Speaker 2: Simone here, 9 to noon. It's three hours now, 9 a.m.
- 16:10Speaker 2: to noon every weekday here on 710WOR.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios, Mark Simone.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Well, hey, this fall we're going to have one of
- 16:26Speaker 2: those El Nino shows seasons you know el nino is
- 16:30Speaker 2: this pattern and the weather this solar whatever it is
- 16:33Speaker 2: that creates terrible storms around the world terrible torrential rains
- 16:39Speaker 2: now the good news for us is it warms things
- 16:42Speaker 2: up so it'll be at its height in the winter
- 16:46Speaker 2: november december but it'll warm the temperatures which means we
- 16:49Speaker 2: won't get a lot of snow if this pattern holds
- 16:51Speaker 2: so that's that's pretty good remember we didn't have any
- 16:54Speaker 2: snow for like three winters four winters and then This
- 16:57Speaker 2: past winter, two blizzards. So El Nino, it's a horrible thing.
- 17:01Speaker 2: We don't really want it around. But it may help
- 17:05Speaker 2: prevent those kind of blizzards from happening. It just means
- 17:08Speaker 2: a lot of rain. Hey, this crazy Mamdani gave a
- 17:15Speaker 2: great example of just how crazy he is. I mean,
- 17:18Speaker 2: he likes to demonstrate for you every so often how
- 17:20Speaker 2: crazy this guy is. So at Rikers Island, a prisoner
- 17:24Speaker 2: dies in Rikers Island. He dies. Mamdani finds out somebody
- 17:31Speaker 2: in custody, Rikers Island, has died. Now, it turns out
- 17:34Speaker 2: it's a maniac, disgusting, vicious killer who slashed people. Horrible,
- 17:39Speaker 2: horrible killer. And it was in, I think it was
- 17:42Speaker 2: in the Bronx. Yeah, Bronx laundromat. It was like three
- 17:47Speaker 2: in the morning or something. But this guy just went
- 17:51Speaker 2: and randomly slashed somebody doing their laundry. There was a
- 17:54Speaker 2: homeless guy sleeping there. Just butchered them up. Now, this
- 17:57Speaker 2: is a vicious killer. This is a guy who had
- 18:01Speaker 2: nearly 30 arrests on his rap sheet. This is the
- 18:03Speaker 2: worst possible criminal. He was only 41, but he was
- 18:08Speaker 2: found dead in his cell at Rikers Island. Now, what
- 18:11Speaker 2: would you do if you're Mamdani? Well, Mamdani calls the
- 18:19Speaker 2: family of the prisoner to console them. Never calls the
- 18:23Speaker 2: family of the two people that he slashed and killed.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Never calls the families that were destroyed by this vicious killer.
- 18:30Speaker 2: He calls the killer's family to mourn with them. The
- 18:36Speaker 2: families of the victims obviously are outraged. They can't believe
- 18:40Speaker 2: how cold-blooded and awful this Mamdani is about it. However,
- 18:45Speaker 2: on the other hand, the families, one of them said
- 18:48Speaker 2: they're just grateful the guy died because they didn't want
- 18:51Speaker 2: to go through a trial. And if this guy had
- 18:53Speaker 2: gone on trial, they'd have to bring up the pictures,
- 18:56Speaker 2: the photographs, the details of how their loved ones were
- 18:59Speaker 2: slashed and cut up. So they're grateful not to have
- 19:02Speaker 2: to go through that trial. This is a guy who
- 19:06Speaker 2: was in state prison for only about a month when
- 19:08Speaker 2: police said he was released. He was only there for this.
- 19:13Speaker 2: You know, you thank Cuomo for his no bail, no jail.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Alvin Bragg for his don't lock anybody up for these
- 19:19Speaker 2: kind of people walking around. But thank God he's dead.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Thank God we don't have to go through a trial. Now,
- 19:25Speaker 2: here's the other problem we got is this Khalid Sheikh
- 19:28Speaker 2: Mohammed was to finally go on trial. He had confessed
- 19:32Speaker 2: at one point, but a military judge threw out the
- 19:35Speaker 2: confession over the weekend. This is going to delay the trial.
- 19:40Speaker 2: This is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who plotted, who mastermind the
- 19:45Speaker 2: 9-11 attacks. Now, when did we arrest him? It was 2007.
- 19:48Speaker 2: It's almost 20 years.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Ago.
- 19:50Speaker 2: This guy's been sitting in Guantanamo for 20 years. I mean,
- 19:55Speaker 2: this guy, this is the mastermind of 9-11. He should
- 19:57Speaker 2: have just taken him out and shot him the first day.
- 19:59Speaker 2: But he's got to go to trial. And the military
- 20:04Speaker 2: judges ruled that his confession was false. based on severe coercion,
- 20:10Speaker 2: you remember this was the Dick Cheney days of waterboarding
- 20:15Speaker 2: wasn't really torture. It seemed like torture, but it was
- 20:18Speaker 2: fake torture. But apparently there was real torture, from sleep
- 20:22Speaker 2: deprivation to very violent torture. Thank you, Dick Cheney. This
- 20:27Speaker 2: is the Dick Cheney Democrats have embraced over the last
- 20:30Speaker 2: few years. But it got the confession thrown out. They
- 20:33Speaker 2: think there's enough evidence maybe to go to trial with
- 20:36Speaker 2: this guy. But because of that, and they could appeal this,
- 20:40Speaker 2: but if they appeal it, these appeals in these military
- 20:44Speaker 2: courts can take years to work their way through the courts.
- 20:46Speaker 2: So this guy will probably die of old age before
- 20:50Speaker 2: he's ever actually put on trial. Prosecutors agreed not to
- 20:55Speaker 2: use the evidence from the torture interrogations on some other
- 20:58Speaker 2: cases and got them done. But they had planned to
- 21:01Speaker 2: use Muhammad's statements because they were pretty convincing. So I
- 21:07Speaker 2: don't know this could be years and years and years
- 21:10Speaker 2: before you see this this mastermind of 9-11 ever actually
- 21:15Speaker 2: come to trial just terrible hey what the hell is
- 21:18Speaker 2: Hillary Clinton doing all over the place as Hillary Clinton
- 21:22Speaker 2: is suddenly speaking everywhere she's on every panel she's popping
- 21:26Speaker 2: up everywhere I hate to break it to you Democrats
- 21:30Speaker 2: you got a problem she's running in 2028 she sees
- 21:33Speaker 2: a vacuum you remember she's the most delusional old crow
- 21:37Speaker 2: in the world She's the old lady on Sunset Boulevard,
- 21:40Speaker 2: drunk all the time. So she's watching MSNBC or whatever
- 21:44Speaker 2: she's watching. And when they talk about Buttigieg, maybe the
- 21:48Speaker 2: front runner, she looks at him as this crazy kid.
- 21:52Speaker 2: She looks at all of these people as no talents.
- 21:56Speaker 2: One of the greatest things in life was that Hillary
- 21:58Speaker 2: Clinton never will be president.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Never.
- 22:02Speaker 2: This is what's killing her. This was the one thing
- 22:04Speaker 2: in life. She wanted to be president. She was the
- 22:08Speaker 2: first lady, then she was the senator, then she was
- 22:10Speaker 2: the secretary of state. And then that's it. She's on
- 22:16Speaker 2: her way to being president. It was great. Her moment,
- 22:19Speaker 2: she's finally going to be president. The goal of her lifetime.
- 22:23Speaker 2: And then a total rookie comes along. Barack Obama, been
- 22:29Speaker 2: in politics three weeks, wipes her out, takes the nomination
- 22:32Speaker 2: away from her. She can't believe that happened. How could
- 22:37Speaker 2: that have happened? Well, four years later, this is her moment.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Now she's going to be president. A total amateur. Guy's
- 22:44Speaker 2: never been in politics in his life. Donald Trump comes
- 22:47Speaker 2: along and just wipes her out. She can't believe it.
- 22:52Speaker 2: So she's got to try one more time. 2028, she
- 22:56Speaker 2: is running. That's why she's all over the place. You'll
- 23:00Speaker 2: notice Bill Clinton nowhere near her. Wants nothing to do
- 23:04Speaker 2: with it. You know, one of the reasons she lost
- 23:06Speaker 2: so badly both times is she wouldn't listen to Bill.
- 23:09Speaker 2: She cut Bill out, cut him out completely. I mean,
- 23:13Speaker 2: think about that. She's got Bill Clinton, probably the greatest
- 23:16Speaker 2: political consultant in the world, living in her house, and
- 23:19Speaker 2: she won't talk to him. She won't let him give
- 23:21Speaker 2: any advice. She won't let the staff get any advice
- 23:23Speaker 2: from him. I can do this myself. I can handle
- 23:26Speaker 2: this myself. Got wiped out both times, first by a rookie,
- 23:30Speaker 2: second by an amateur, completely wiped out. Hey, at 710WOR,
- 23:35Speaker 2: Mark Simone here.
- 23:36Speaker 5: To have a tourism management plan back in 1974. And
- 23:41Speaker 5: we've had, we've updated that plan every 10 years. So
- 23:44Speaker 5: we've had a very intentional process to look at what
- 23:48Speaker 5: is the experience you want visitors to have. But most importantly,
- 23:51Speaker 5: we really believe at our core, if it's a great
- 23:53Speaker 5: place to live, it'll be a great.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Place to visit.
- 23:55Speaker 5: And having... Well, it's just, it's worked for us. And
- 23:59Speaker 5: it sounds kind of trite, but it's just, it's always
- 24:02Speaker 5: worked for us. And that part of making sure that
- 24:06Speaker 5: the people that provide the attractions are the people that
- 24:09Speaker 5: live in those beautiful historic houses.
- 24:11Speaker 2: To hear the full interview with Helen T. Hill, president
- 24:13Speaker 2: and CEO of Explore Charleston, search for CEOs You Should
- 24:17Speaker 2: Know in the podcast section on iHeartRadio.

- 24:24Speaker 5: slash rules.
- 24:25Speaker 4: For information about iHeartMedia music events, go to musiceventinfo.iheartmedia.com.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Hey, we'll take some calls in a minute. 800- 3-2-1-0-7-10
- 25:02Speaker 2: is the number. Hey, speaking of going to the moon,
- 25:06Speaker 2: President making that a goal for the rest of his term.
- 25:10Speaker 2: By the end of his term, he wants to land
- 25:12Speaker 2: on the moon. But Friday, he also announced he's going
- 25:15Speaker 2: to build a space academy. You know, you got West
- 25:18Speaker 2: Point for the Army. You got the Naval Academy. You
- 25:21Speaker 2: got the Air Force Academy. He wants to build a
- 25:25Speaker 2: space academy. He said it'll be a top-line school. with
- 25:29Speaker 2: tough admission standards and a beautiful campus to train the
- 25:34Speaker 2: next generation of civilian and military aerospace experts. It's actually
- 25:38Speaker 2: a good idea because one thing about all these astronauts
- 25:41Speaker 2: and all the people they train, they do go into
- 25:44Speaker 2: the private sector and they do a lot of great stuff. Remember,
- 25:46Speaker 2: some of our greatest pilots were from NASA. He said,
- 25:50Speaker 2: we're going to have an academy for what people in
- 25:53Speaker 2: this room love the most, He was at the Johnson
- 25:57Speaker 2: Space Center. That's the headquarters of NASA in Houston. Now,
- 26:01Speaker 2: you know why it's in Houston. That's because Lyndon Johnson
- 26:03Speaker 2: was president at the time from Texas, so he put
- 26:06Speaker 2: it in Houston. But where's the Space Academy going to be?
- 26:11Speaker 2: President Trump's saying, I'm choosing a location now. He said,
- 26:15Speaker 2: I'll announce a location very shortly. I don't know where
- 26:17Speaker 2: he's going to put it. It'll actually be a good
- 26:21Speaker 2: training ground, too, for the United States Space Force. Air Force,
- 26:24Speaker 2: and a lot of civilian spaceflight people, you know, for
- 26:29Speaker 2: the spaceflight industry. But it'll attract, train, graduate the very
- 26:34Speaker 2: best of our nation. Listen, these astronauts are heroes. They're
- 26:39Speaker 2: great at what they do. You've got to admire these astronauts.
- 26:42Speaker 2: But would you want to do that? I don't find that...
- 26:48Speaker 2: I mean, it's a great thing that they do, but
- 26:50Speaker 2: would you want to be sitting in that capsule, locked
- 26:52Speaker 2: up in that little capsule? I don't even like to
- 26:54Speaker 2: go on an airplane, a regular airplane. If you're just
- 26:58Speaker 2: in a capsule in the dark, flying through the dark
- 27:01Speaker 2: for days on end, it doesn't seem like a lot
- 27:04Speaker 2: of fun to me. I mean, you watch Formula One,
- 27:07Speaker 2: you say, wow, I'd love to be driving that car.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Or you watch somebody, you know, hang gliding. Well, that
- 27:13Speaker 2: looks like fun, but... locked in this dark space capsule
- 27:16Speaker 2: for days on end. It doesn't look like a lot
- 27:18Speaker 2: of fun. Try it. Go in your closet, close the door,
- 27:22Speaker 2: sit there for two days. You bring enough food and everything,
- 27:26Speaker 2: and sit in your closet for two days in the dark.
- 27:28Speaker 2: See how much you enjoy this. And if you said
- 27:30Speaker 2: to yourself, this is fun, then maybe you'd want to
- 27:33Speaker 2: go to this space academy. Anyway, we'll take some calls.
- 27:36Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 27:37Speaker 1: 800-321-0710.
- 27:42Speaker 2: 3-2-1-0-7-10. Hey, there's the Iranian president. You got the IRG.
- 27:51Speaker 2: You got about 90 million people in Iran. This IRG,
- 27:56Speaker 2: these are this revolutionary army. These are all the lunatics.
- 28:00Speaker 2: There's 180,000 of them. But there's 90 million civilians. And
- 28:06Speaker 2: then you got this embattled Iranian president who runs the Iranian...
- 28:10Speaker 2: Parliament sounds very impressive, but they work out of a cave,
- 28:13Speaker 2: a bomb shelter. But even the Iranian president is admitting
- 28:18Speaker 2: now that the U.S. sanctions are crippling the country, that
- 28:24Speaker 2: Iran is close to complete collapse. President Massoud Pesachish, whatever
- 28:32Speaker 2: his name is, he confessed Iran's economy has been dealt
- 28:36Speaker 2: massive blows recently. And he said, we're in a war situation.
- 28:40Speaker 2: We've got to treat it like we're in a war situation.
- 28:44Speaker 2: But he said they'll fight on. They'll keep going. But
- 28:49Speaker 2: even he admits, very, very, very close to collapse. Hey,
- 28:53Speaker 2: speaking about collapsing, Howard Stern at Sirius is getting towards
- 28:59Speaker 2: the end. You know, he had a contract. The last
- 29:02Speaker 2: contract was $ 100 million a year. for five years, $ 500
- 29:06Speaker 2: million contract. In the good old days, there were millions
- 29:09Speaker 2: of people listening to the Howard Stern channel. Now it's
- 29:14Speaker 2: more like 150,000. What happened? Well, he went woke, lost
- 29:18Speaker 2: a lot of his audience that way, made some Hollywood
- 29:21Speaker 2: friends by going woke and becoming a left-wing kook, but
- 29:27Speaker 2: lost most of his audience. You know, it was two channels.
- 29:29Speaker 2: If you listen to the series, there was Howard 100,
- 29:33Speaker 2: and then Howard 101. It was two channels. One had
- 29:35Speaker 2: the new stuff, one had all the older stuff. Sirius
- 29:40Speaker 2: now shutting down, that's right, shutting down the second Howard
- 29:44Speaker 2: Stern channel. They just took it away from him. It'll
- 29:48Speaker 2: become Andy Cohen Radio. Yeah, so they've taken away one channel.
- 29:54Speaker 2: As far as the remaining Howard Stern channel, well, he'll
- 29:58Speaker 2: do one show a week, one show a week. That's it.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Just one show a week. And that's not all, all year.
- 30:12Speaker 2: That's like 26 weeks a year or something. So we
- 30:16Speaker 2: have a vitamin shows on the weekends that are on
- 30:18Speaker 2: more than Howard Stern. This is not good for him.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And obviously that a hundred million a year, it's, Greatly
- 30:27Speaker 2: reduced by about 9 billion percent. So he's very, very, very,
- 30:31Speaker 2: very low salary compared to the old one. Employees have
- 30:37Speaker 2: been laid off. He laid off 12 staffers the other
- 30:39Speaker 2: day via Zoom. They were sent home immediately following the call.
- 30:44Speaker 2: They will receive severance packages based on how long they served.
- 30:48Speaker 2: So serious, slowly winding down their relationship with Howard Stern.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Let's take some calls. 800- 3-2-1-0-7-10 is the number. Let's
- 30:59Speaker 2: go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how you doing?
- 31:02Speaker 1: Good morning, Mark.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yes, Mike.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I had a very odd name pop into my head
- 31:07Speaker 1: over the weekend. Jerry Girard. Remember him?
- 31:10Speaker 2: Jerry Girard. He was the Channel 11 sports guy, right?
- 31:15Speaker 1: He was the Channel 11 sports guy. And that brings
- 31:17Speaker 1: me to two points. One, I noticed you haven't had
- 31:20Speaker 1: water on in a while.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Oh, well, Warren is a regular on the morning show.
- 31:25Speaker 2: He's here on our morning show every week.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll try to have him on once in a while.
- 31:29Speaker 2: He's always good.
- 31:30Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 31:37Speaker 2: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> All right, wait,
- 31:52Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember. It was Channel 11 Action News,
- 31:56Speaker 2: and it was Pat Harper, Steve Bosch, right?
- 32:00Speaker 1: That was before my time. I was there when Tamsyn
- 32:03Speaker 1: Fidel was on. I was usually either on the weekends
- 32:06Speaker 1: or during the week on occasion. And so Tamsyn Fidel
- 32:12Speaker 1: was on the weekends, and I can't even remember now.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Nothing personal, but you can't compare.
- 32:18Speaker 1: It's not that long ago.
- 32:20Speaker 2: You can't compare Warner Wolf to Jerry Gerrard. Warner Wolf
- 32:22Speaker 2: was like the biggest sportscaster in local TV. He was
- 32:25Speaker 2: like a giant.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yes, and Jerry was very low-key and very unconventional in
- 32:33Speaker 1: his approach to sportscasting.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Yeah, but he had the big Channel 4, Channel 2,
- 32:39Speaker 2: Channel 11, Channel 9. That was like nothing personal, but
- 32:42Speaker 2: that was like the roadshow kind of cast.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. Warner was the superstar, without a doubt.
- 32:49Speaker 2: And who else was there? You had... Sal Marciano, right,
- 32:53Speaker 2: for a while?
- 32:54Speaker 1: Sal, yeah, I think Sal took over for, did Sal
- 32:58Speaker 1: take over for Warner? Warner got fired at some point,
- 33:03Speaker 1: somewhere along the line, somewhere.
- 33:06Speaker 2: And then you got Marvin Scott, who's like 112 years old,
- 33:08Speaker 2: still doing something. Oh God, Marvin Scott, my favorite.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I would fix his tie before he went on, just
- 33:18Speaker 1: to distract him. And then all of a sudden, he
- 33:21Speaker 1: would be like, hey, I like this guy. He was
- 33:25Speaker 1: a very nice guy, though. And Mr. G would come
- 33:29Speaker 1: by where I would sit with the program for the night.
- 33:34Speaker 1: You got a joke for me tonight? I always had
- 33:36Speaker 1: a joke for him.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Very nice guy, Mr. G. In fact, if you check
- 33:40Speaker 2: out Mr. G's Instagram, he does videos every day now.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Yeah. He's great. He's a great guy.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Good call, Mike, as always. Thanks for calling. Yeah, Kitee Tong. Remember,
- 33:51Speaker 2: she was like a young junior starting at Channel 7,
- 33:55Speaker 2: and a lot of time has gone by. Kitee Tong, retired. Friday,
- 34:00Speaker 2: take a listen.
- 34:01Speaker 3: But it's time to move on.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I'm 80 years old now.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Nearly, as you know, Shirley.
- 34:06Speaker 1: 80 years young.
- 34:09Speaker 3: I'm feeling it.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I'm tired.
- 34:12Speaker 5: And it's time to make room for the young bloods, right?
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all right. She's a very nice woman, Katie Tong.
- 34:18Speaker 2: But she looks great. Looks fine. I don't know. Maybe
- 34:21Speaker 2: she just wanted to get the hell out of there.
- 34:24Speaker 2: It is Channel 11 after all. But did she say
- 34:27Speaker 2: what's next?
- 34:28Speaker 3: But it's time to move on.
- 34:29Speaker 2: You know, I'm 80 years old. Move on. What does
- 34:31Speaker 2: that mean? Is she going to get another job? She
- 34:33Speaker 2: got something coming? You never know. You never know. Hey,
- 34:36Speaker 2: it's Mark Simone here. 9 a.m. till noon. We're three
- 34:39Speaker 2: hours now. 9 a.m. till noon. Every day. Then at noon,
- 34:42Speaker 2: you've got Buck and Clay. That's a really good show
- 34:44Speaker 2: every day at 12 noon. And then 3 o'clock, you've
- 34:46Speaker 2: got the most listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity.
- 34:50Speaker 2: You've got Jesse Kelly at 6. The very funny Jimmy Fallon.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Every night, 9 to midnight. That's all here on 710WOR.
- 34:59Speaker 2: What's better than two hours of Marc Simone?
- 35:02Speaker 1: Three.
- 35:03Speaker 2: The Marc Simone Show.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Now 9 till noon weekdays.
- 35:07Speaker 1: 710WOR.
- 35:11Speaker 2: That's right. If you're tuning in right now waiting for
- 35:13Speaker 2: me to come on, you missed the whole first hour.
- 35:15Speaker 2: It's 9 to noon every day. 9 to noon. Hey,
- 35:18Speaker 2: I can't believe it, but we're heading into Labor Day weekend.
- 35:22Speaker 2: This is the final week. It's Labor Day weekend coming up. Now,
- 35:25Speaker 2: it looks like rain. It might be some rain today
- 35:28Speaker 2: in the afternoon. Rain possible. Good possibility of rain Tuesday
- 35:32Speaker 2: and Wednesday. But then it's okay. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Yeah,
- 35:38Speaker 2: it looks dry. Looks like it's going to be a
- 35:40Speaker 2: great weekend. Weather-wise, we'll be back after the news. Hour
- 35:44Speaker 2: number two coming up on 710WOR.
