- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on. Do your thing, Big Daddy.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I sure will.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning, everybody. You are listening to The Voice. Come on,
- 0:08Speaker 2: dig me now. One and only, Steve Harvey. Got a
- 0:12Speaker 2: radio show. Man, oh, man, oh, man. You know what, y'all?
- 0:18Speaker 2: I mean, really, the goodness of God is overwhelming if
- 0:21Speaker 2: you think about it. I mean, really, really think about it.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Even when your circumstance... doesn't look so bright. Even when
- 0:31Speaker 2: you're going through something that's causing you discomfort, pain, even
- 0:37Speaker 2: in that.
- 0:39Speaker 1: God's goodness is.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Actually overwhelming because don't forget why you're going through this moment.
- 0:48Speaker 1: First of all, this too shall pass.
- 0:50Speaker 2: But also secondly, remember man, ain't everything else that you've
- 0:55Speaker 2: gone through that seems so insurmountable at the time. Didn't
- 0:59Speaker 2: you get past that too? I mean, it's amazing if
- 1:04Speaker 2: you really think about it. You don't get stuck on
- 1:07Speaker 2: any one issue your whole life. The only people that
- 1:11Speaker 2: get stuck on an issue their whole life is people
- 1:15Speaker 2: who won't let it go. That's really all it is.
- 1:18Speaker 2: There are people who exist and you may be one
- 1:21Speaker 2: of them. Oh, please know I've been guilty of it
- 1:24Speaker 2: myself before. But I learned something. There are things in
- 1:29Speaker 2: my past that I just would not let go of.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It was done. It was over with. I was past it.
- 1:36Speaker 1: But I, I would not let go of it. It
- 1:40Speaker 1: was over.
- 1:41Speaker 2: The dude that did it to me didn't exist no more.
- 1:44Speaker 2: The problem that it created didn't exist no more. The
- 1:47Speaker 2: only problem that kept hanging on was I would not
- 1:51Speaker 2: let it go. And man, you can't go forward if
- 1:56Speaker 2: you're going to keep looking in the past. It's an
- 1:58Speaker 2: impossible thing. It's like driving a car. If you keep
- 2:03Speaker 2: looking only in the rearview mirror while you're driving, you're
- 2:06Speaker 2: going to crash pretty soon. And a lot of people
- 2:09Speaker 2: just keep crashing over and over and over and over
- 2:14Speaker 2: because you won't drive your car. You keep looking in
- 2:17Speaker 2: the rearview mirror at the past.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Oh, woe is me.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Oh, you know, they did me like that. You know,
- 2:24Speaker 2: I ain't been the same since he cheated on me. Oh, man,
- 2:27Speaker 2: ever since she stole my money, I ain't been the same. Man,
- 2:31Speaker 2: she played me. And ever since that, I done treated
- 2:33Speaker 2: women differently. You may have some deeper stuff going on.
- 2:37Speaker 2: But eventually, guess what? Do you understand that when you
- 2:41Speaker 2: have a relationship with God, you can take that to
- 2:44Speaker 2: him too and drop it off and leave it there?
- 2:49Speaker 2: Do you know that he can fix and heal that?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Maybe it's something serious like that that you need fixing
- 2:55Speaker 2: or healing from.
- 2:56Speaker 1: A relationship with God can fix and heal that.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But, man, come on, y'all, whatever it is, and I'm
- 3:04Speaker 2: not trying to downplay it or make it act like
- 3:07Speaker 2: it wasn't traumatic in your life because, oh, God, you
- 3:10Speaker 2: don't want nobody to do that to you because you
- 3:13Speaker 2: want to be the poster child for misery. So please
- 3:18Speaker 2: don't let me take that from you. If that's your position,
- 3:21Speaker 2: that's your Hall of Fame card you hanging on to.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm the poster child for misery. Oh, no one is
- 3:28Speaker 2: more woe than me. Then please don't let Steve try
- 3:32Speaker 2: to take that from you. You go ahead and hang
- 3:34Speaker 2: on to that. But let me tell you something, though.
- 3:37Speaker 2: If that's what you're going to hang on to, that's
- 3:39Speaker 2: what you're going to always be. The poster child for misery.
- 3:42Speaker 2: At one point in time, you're going to have to
- 3:44Speaker 2: get on and move past it. Sometimes, man, it's merely
- 3:48Speaker 2: a simple thing of taking it to God and leaving
- 3:50Speaker 2: it there. You know, some people don't have money for therapy.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Some people don't even know who to call for therapy.
- 3:58Speaker 2: God is the best psychologist in the world. He can
- 4:02Speaker 2: fix it for you. There is nothing too hard for God.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You know, when something seems impossible, y'all, God does the
- 4:09Speaker 2: impossible all the time, every day.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You want to know how I know? I just look
- 4:15Speaker 1: at a couple of basic things. Do you know that
- 4:17Speaker 1: that sun comes up every day in the morning? It
- 4:19Speaker 1: comes up in the east and it sets in the west.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You can't do nothing about that.
- 4:25Speaker 2: All you can you can wish because you planted your
- 4:27Speaker 2: flowers on a certain side.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Of your house.
- 4:29Speaker 2: You can wish all you want. Then maybe one day
- 4:32Speaker 2: he would bring it up out the northwest. So those
- 4:34Speaker 2: flowers would. No, no, it's going to come up out
- 4:36Speaker 2: the east. And once the sun hits the horizon, when
- 4:40Speaker 2: you look in the water, like if you are out
- 4:42Speaker 2: in L.A. and you see the sun going down, once
- 4:45Speaker 2: the sun, once you can visually see the sun touching
- 4:48Speaker 2: the horizon, you have three minutes. You have exactly three minutes.
- 4:53Speaker 2: You can sit there with your watch. You can time.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You have three minutes and it's gone. Three minutes is gone.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I read that somewhere and then I went and tried it.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It's gone every day. If it was clear enough, not cloudy.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Once the sun touches the horizon on water, you got
- 5:11Speaker 2: three minutes. When the wind blows, you can't do nothing
- 5:15Speaker 2: about it. He can bring it from the northeast. He
- 5:17Speaker 2: can bring it from the west. He can bring it
- 5:19Speaker 2: from the south. He can bring it hard. He can
- 5:21Speaker 2: bring it cool. He can bring it hot. It's certain
- 5:23Speaker 2: things that God does the impossible all the time. How
- 5:27Speaker 2: those stars sitting up there. How can you find these constellations?
- 5:32Speaker 2: The Big Dipper, the Little Dipper, Orion the Hunter.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Oh, that's God.
- 5:35Speaker 2: There's nothing you can do about it. You can't reach
- 5:38Speaker 2: them stars. You can't shoot at them. You can't move
- 5:40Speaker 2: them out the way. Orion the Hunter's belt is going
- 5:43Speaker 2: to beat them three stars at an angle. You can
- 5:45Speaker 2: call it what you want to call it. Still, that's
- 5:47Speaker 2: what it is. See, he does the impossible all the time.
- 5:51Speaker 2: He created heaven and earth. You're saying that God can't
- 5:55Speaker 2: get you through your past. Somebody did this to me.
- 5:59Speaker 2: It's the worst thing. I had the worst childhood of anybody.
- 6:02Speaker 2: God can't get you past that. He can move heaven, mountains, earth.
- 6:07Speaker 2: He can form the Grand Canyon. He can make the
- 6:10Speaker 2: water come over Niagara Falls 24-7. He can't fix your
- 6:15Speaker 2: little bitty past yours. It's amazing how people make their
- 6:20Speaker 2: problems bigger than God. Somebody told me one time, stop
- 6:24Speaker 2: telling God. how big your problems are, and start telling
- 6:29Speaker 2: your problems how big God is.
- 6:33Speaker 1: And go on with your life.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Quit driving your car looking in the rearview mirror. Ain't
- 6:39Speaker 2: nothing back there but your past. And if it was
- 6:41Speaker 2: hurtful or painful or something you just felt like you
- 6:45Speaker 2: can't get over, take your problems to God and leave
- 6:48Speaker 2: them there. You hear the old spiritual, all you've heard it.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there.
- 6:54Speaker 1: You hear it all the time. But you think that
- 6:56Speaker 1: applies to everyone but you? Come on, man.
- 7:00Speaker 2: A lot of people out there going through much worse
- 7:02Speaker 2: than you have and have overcome it all. Why won't
- 7:05Speaker 2: you take the step to overcome your past so you
- 7:08Speaker 2: can get on with driving your car and see what
- 7:10Speaker 2: God trying to take you?
- 7:12Speaker 1: But it's a trick of the enemy.
- 7:14Speaker 2: The enemy tricks you from seeing your future by having
- 7:17Speaker 2: you constantly looking in your past.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Man, it's a trick of the devil.
- 7:22Speaker 2: If the devil just let you quit, if he would
- 7:24Speaker 2: just let you get to drive in your car and
- 7:27Speaker 2: look out into your future, your future shows hopefulness. You
- 7:32Speaker 2: have hope when you see the future. But he can
- 7:35Speaker 2: keep you in misery if he keep you looking at
- 7:38Speaker 2: your miserable past. God looking for you, man. God would
- 7:42Speaker 2: love to hear from you. Let's spend some time talking
- 7:46Speaker 2: to God today.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Hey, God, what's happening? It's me.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I know I ain't talk to you in a while,
- 7:51Speaker 2: but I feel bad about that, but I need you.
- 7:55Speaker 1: He know that. Everybody should say that prayer all the time.
- 7:58Speaker 1: It's cool. All right. You're listening to the Steve Harvey
- 8:01Speaker 1: Morning Show.
