- 0:01Hello and welcome to the Christian Business Growth Podcast.
- 0:04I'm here with Dr.
- 0:04Jason.
- 0:05Dr.
- 0:06Jason, let's put that word together.
- 0:08He's a neurochiropractic.
- 0:10He does things different.
- 0:11Now, I'll tell you honestly, I've had problems with my neck.
- 0:14So if you see me doing this, that's what that is.
- 0:16And so I've gone to chiropractors and a lot of Christians are like, oh, I'm a Christian.
- 0:20Am I really allowed to go to chiropractor?
- 0:22Is that legitimate medicine, everything?
- 0:24So we're going to have an open-frame conversation.
- 0:26But first I want to hear Dr.
- 0:28Jason, welcome and tell us your story.
- 0:30How'd you get started?
- 0:31your business.
- 0:33Thanks for having me, Lyle.
- 0:34I'm excited about this.
- 0:36The business got started years ago.
- 0:40It probably started in the making before I even became a chiropractor.
- 0:45A very brief story of how I got into this and how it all started was I got in a car accident when I was in undergrad and
- 0:56I did what everybody does when they get in a car accident, you go see a chiropractor, right?
- 0:59That's what chiropractic is for.
- 1:00It's for back pain, for neck pain, for headaches, for car accidents.
- 1:04That's the only thing I thought it was for.
- 1:06So I ended up seeing one and this guy says, what do you end up, we long story short, he's a smart aleck just like I was, I was 20 years old.
- 1:16And he goes, what do you actually want to do with your life?
- 1:18And we're just BSing together.
- 1:20I said, well, I'm not really sure I want to do something in health because I've always wanted to be healthy and natural health has always been important.
- 1:28But.
- 1:29I kind of want to be a teacher.
- 1:30thought about doing that for a while and he says teacher.
- 1:33I said, yeah, well, everybody can remember one of those teachers that they've had way back in the day.
- 1:38can probably even, I mean, shoot loud, you could probably remember one right now.
- 1:41If you think of a teacher back in the day, you can probably think of like the influence they had on you or you can even remember their face.
- 1:48And I can do that same.
- 1:49I was my fifth grade teacher.
- 1:52I'd actually go back when I was in high school and even back from undergrad and just have chats with her.
- 1:56So I kind of wanted to be a teacher.
- 1:58uh...
- 1:59he says why i said well because i want to make a difference i think that'd be really cool i want to be one of those people and he uh...
- 2:06he if you really want to make a difference you gotta be a chiropractor and i was like sure yeah um...
- 2:13i understand the chiropractors help to make a difference and they help people get out of pain and that's awesome but i'm at like on a deeper level and he says no no no
- 2:22You should come shadow for just one afternoon and see what you think.
- 2:26So I did.
- 2:27And what I saw was there were a few people in pain, but he helped people on the spectrum with health issues, stuff that they couldn't find answers for throughout any natural means
- 2:36or pharmaceutical means or mainstream medical means.
- 2:40And people were bringing their kids in for colic issues, for asthma and allergy issues, for digestive issues, mom with infertility issues, headaches and migraines, blood pressure
- 2:50issues, all this stuff.
- 2:51And I thought, what in the
- 2:52world is going on you're either tricking me or there's this there's some sort of voodoo going on and he goes no no no here's the thing is the nervous system controls every single
- 3:04thing in your body you said God created the body God heals the body the chiropractor's job is to remove the fearance interference and get out of the way the body is created pretty
- 3:14well to self-regulate and self-heal and I went I can get on board with that I can I can do that
- 3:23So ever since then, that's how everything kind of started for me anyway.
- 3:27Fast forward to
- 3:29Going through school and seminars and one of the things we learn about is statistics health wise we're not that healthy ah overall, especially not in our country is crazy to
- 3:41hear stuff like We how much of the world's population we make up and how much money we spend on health But how we're one of the sickest in fact, I think now we're the sickest in
- 3:51Dutch industrialized nation, which is crazy We take more pills and medications and surgeries and procedures than anybody else and especially
- 3:59more money on them than anybody else but we're not any healthier in fact we're less healthy ah so that kind of built a fire in me going wait a second if all these things that
- 4:11I saw and if all these statistics are real we need to change we need some kind of actually wrote this in my notes when I was back in school we need a healthcare revolution and
- 4:21that's kind of where revolution chiropractic came from
- 4:24It's just natural health and we're doing it the best that we can and our entire job is to correct the interference in the nervous system, get out of the way so that the body that
- 4:34the good Lord created can work the way that he created it to work.
- 4:37And that's just kind of where we've been at for the last 14 years now.
- 4:41That's cool.
- 4:41And you and I have talked about this a little bit, how everyone lives in a box.
- 4:44We type in front of us, we're driving in front of us, we're cooking in front of us, and our body just has this little small area of movement, and our bodies don't have that
- 4:53movement that takes us further and beyond things and everything.
- 4:56And so the adjustments you're doing are helping our body move and the body flow better.
- 5:01So explain a little bit, because I know you and I have talked about this, you're not the cracking back type chiropractor.
- 5:07You do something different, because you see how the body is created by God.
- 5:11strategically and intelligently.
- 5:15Very much so.
- 5:16So I guess probably the best way to put it is I jokingly tell people that you can teach a monkey to do chiropractic if all you do is point to where it hurts and push really hard.
- 5:26But if we can take a step back and say what even caused that pain in the first place and then we have to remember that pain is a symptom.
- 5:34So in order to have a symptom there has to be something wrong with the system of the body.
- 5:40And we have to remember that the system of the body, all systems of the body, are controlled and coordinated by the central nervous system.
- 5:46So if we go back to the nervous system and we actually have some pretty cool, as you know, some pretty cool grade three medical equipment here that we actually scan and assess the
- 5:54nervous system for.
- 5:55So we can see what fuses in that nervous system are blown, just like a breaker box, which ones are about to blow and they're overworked and overwhelmed.
- 6:04And we can go back there and make specific adjustments to those areas, which will help the communication between the nervous system and the system of the body.
- 6:14The system of the body gets better.
- 6:16Now there's no reason they even have that symptom.
- 6:18So the symptom, like often pain, goes away.
- 6:22And it's nothing miraculous.
- 6:24We're just using what the body has, the way the body was created, and going back there, just doing it a little more objectively so we could test, treat.
- 6:33Retest and then see if we've made any difference and it all goes back to the way the nervous system was created We just know it's got to work a certain way if it's not there's
- 6:41got to be a reason and we want we're reason people We found that a lot of times people don't dig deep enough when there's an issue going on
- 6:49And I'm the same way because if I have a symptom, I'm a big baby too, just like a lot of people.
- 6:54Nobody wants symptoms.
- 6:55You want to treat the symptom right away so you feel better.
- 6:58But oftentimes, once the symptom is better, we forget that we still have to figure out what caused it in the first place to see if that's hanging around.
- 7:04So that's kind of the whole approach that we take to that.
- 7:07And just real quickly, what do you call your style of chiropractic?
- 7:11Okay, somebody's not in the Dallas area.
- 7:12If you're in the Dallas area, I highly suggest checking out Dr.
- 7:15Kramer, but if they're not in the Dallas area, what's the style of chiropractic?
- 7:18So somebody could search that and look that up online.
- 7:21Well for us, I would tell you to search either neurochiropractic, neurotonal chiropractic, or we often use just a tonal-based chiropractic.
- 7:31So it's a little bit different than just hands-off.
- 7:35It's a little bit different than completely hands-on and being forceful.
- 7:38It's a good mix of reading the nervous system and seeing what it actually needs and how it should be best corrected.
- 7:45Okay, makes sense.
- 7:46So tell us what's God doing in your life and in your business currently?
- 7:51You know, it's funny, I watched this, I listened to this sermon the other day with this pastor saying something, he was telling this story about his life and you could tell
- 8:04everybody that was listening just kind of went, what?
- 8:07And he goes, yeah, I talked to God like that.
- 8:09Like, hey, God, what is up?
- 8:12Like, I'm struggling.
- 8:13I got some stuff going on and I'm asking you what's going on and I'm going, huh.
- 8:19And he goes, that's just how I talk to God.
- 8:20It's personal, it's relationship.
- 8:22He's like, I know you love me, I know you got my back, but what is going on?
- 8:28So that's kind of like an ebb and flow in the office and my personal life and with that as well.
- 8:35Sometimes it's like, man, I'm so blessed.
- 8:38And you're so blessed no matter what, but sometimes you're struggling.
- 8:41It's not always sunshine and rainbows.
- 8:43So it's always interesting to start the day or the week or the month or even the year.
- 8:49Everybody writes yearly goals, I feel like, right?
- 8:51Which I feel like is different than resolutions because people are gone with the resolutions by like February.
- 8:59But to have actual goals that you can think about, that you can process through, that you can pray about and see what's going on.
- 9:05I think that that's kind of a big deal.
- 9:07In fact, we even start every day here at the office with a daily devotional.
- 9:11Just gives us a Bible verse, a description, and then we were able to discuss it as a team and say, what does this actually mean?
- 9:18How does it apply to our lives?
- 9:19How does it apply to the practice and to the community?
- 9:22And what can we best do today to not only better ourselves, but help influence and make a difference in the people that walk through our doors?
- 9:29So I think it's just all encompassing day to day.
- 9:35day-to-day challenges, struggles, trials, and relationships, really.
- 9:40Yeah, there's a song where David says, sounds like my prayers are hitting a tin ceiling and falling back on my face.
- 9:46I to look that verse up, I always forget it.
- 9:49But prayer is that intimate conversation.
- 9:51When that intimacy is broken, it's hard to have a conversation.
- 9:54So tell me, how do you deepen your prayer life?
- 9:56Let's dig in this a little bit.
- 9:59Great question.
- 10:00ah
- 10:03And I'd love to tell you that I have a very specific answer, but I still struggle with it.
- 10:10What I think is I used to have a problem with that going, wait a second, this should just be straightforward.
- 10:15There should be a, I'm at A, I'm gonna go B and then I'll end up at C easily.
- 10:21Turns out that's not real life.
- 10:23So it's just a constant struggle or constant challenge to figure that out on a day-to-day basis.
- 10:27And it's been everything from...
- 10:30daily routines to praying differently or asking for different things.
- 10:34So it's been just a process, I think it's realistically, I think that's how it's supposed to be kind of.
- 10:42It's not just, hey, boom, here's life, here's all the answers.
- 10:45Everything is going to be beautiful and amazing all the time, but there's going to be struggles and triumphs.
- 10:49It's like one of those verses where, uh,
- 10:53God said, I'll butcher this, God doesn't say I'm gonna keep you out of the storms, but he says I'll be there through the storms with you.
- 11:01And again, butchered that, but it's the same kind of thing.
- 11:03So it's just been changing the prayer life, changing the mental part of it and the meditation times and spending time with the Lord, all that.
- 11:11So it's a process that never ends.
- 11:14It's kind of like your relationship with your spouse.
- 11:16I used to tell people, you you don't just go in and say, love you, then that's the end of it.
- 11:20You have this constant back and forth, this constant conversation.
- 11:23And part of that conversation is listening as well.
- 11:26And listening for God to guide you, not just in your personal life, but also in your business life.
- 11:30How does that play into your life?
- 11:32Do you do a lot of that?
- 11:35We do.
- 11:35ah There are a lot of things.
- 11:37fact, yesterday we turned down an opportunity for there's this TV show that was thinking about putting the chiropractor on.
- 11:48I forget what it's called, World's Greatest or something.
- 11:51which I thought we are the world's greatest.
- 11:53This is amazing.
- 11:53This is going to be awesome.
- 11:55So we go, we went through this as a team and sat through an interview and just kind of a process that said, Hey, this is what we're going to do.
- 12:03Do you think you're a good fit?
- 12:04Tell me why.
- 12:05Tell me different ins and outs.
- 12:07And the Eagle part, we were like, yeah.
- 12:10yeah.
- 12:11TV.
- 12:12This is going to be great.
- 12:13We're like, we're in, we got this.
- 12:16When we're sitting back and I think all of us came to the realization.
- 12:19yesterday we turned down even the opportunity to be part of it because it was, hey, this is a national thing.
- 12:28And really all we're going to use it for is ego that says, hey, look at us, look at what we've done.
- 12:32Check this out.
- 12:34but there's not really any meaning behind it.
- 12:37sometimes there's stuff like that that just kind of gets in the way that you gotta take a step back and actually think through those and pray about those and actually think what's
- 12:45real and what's important.
- 12:46So it's little things like that or it's even like I was talking about the daily devotional stuff.
- 12:51Hey, how can we actually apply this today?
- 12:54What do we need to change?
- 12:55What kind of things do need to get rid of?
- 12:57What do we need to implement more?
- 12:58So it's a process of all different kinds of things.
- 13:01Like that TV show, what's that TV show?
- 13:03It's a million little things or something like that.
- 13:06Something like that.
- 13:07But that's, it's just small things all the time.
- 13:10And it turns out some small things aren't that small as you move forward in the process.
- 13:16They add up, yeah, the little small things add up.
- 13:18Especially when it comes to your discipline.
- 13:19I love that you're doing it on a daily basis, you're doing it with your staff.
- 13:22That's huge.
- 13:24That brings you together in a unique way.
- 13:26So we're gonna move into the next section, which we call our business growth section.
- 13:29What are you doing currently that's growing your business and maybe an idea you have that might help someone else in their business?
- 13:36Yeah, great question.
- 13:38Especially because there so many different things I feel like not only for myself, but for everybody.
- 13:42And we've, I think we've tried almost all of them.
- 13:45It feels like over the years, man, we've just, we've just been grinding and then sometimes we'll take a break or sometimes we're slacking or sometimes we're exhausted.
- 13:54And we've done everything from external marketing week after week after week.
- 14:00And what that looks like is finding different community events.
- 14:04We're real big on community, so everything we do for our office, our vision is really to create connection in order to build community through the best form of chiropractic that
- 14:14we can possibly offer.
- 14:16So we're out in the community a lot doing different health screenings or meeting different people, creating connections.
- 14:23But I think what's happened recently, even more than I think is making a bigger impact is being intentional with connection.
- 14:30And it's not just overall connection, which we're not putting that on the, on the back burner.
- 14:34But if you can be intentional with like-minded partners, especially when it comes to business, then it's people that you're like-minded in business with and life with, and
- 14:43they actually want to see you succeed.
- 14:45So they're going to actually help.
- 14:47And you're gonna do the same thing because that's what you're that's the kind of connection that you're looking to provide and that's the kind of kind of connection that
- 14:54you're looking to create so that's one of our bigger things that we've been doing now is Actively seeking searching out and that stuff on different people's websites or find them
- 15:04on social media That's been a great one to find just searching locally who's in your local area that does something similar and for us that's if you're in a natural minded
- 15:14healthcare field in the
- 15:16the area we want to get to know you we want to know a little bit more about you not for selfish reasons but to say hey let's let's do better by ourselves and by our community and
- 15:25just natural growth I think comes from that.
- 15:28So you're about affinity connections, people who are aligned with what you're currently doing.
- 15:33Is that what you're talking about?
- 15:35Yes.
- 15:36Yes.
- 15:36oh
- 15:38doing community events too and inviting people to that.
- 15:41Talk a little bit about that.
- 15:42How's that impacting your business?
- 15:44We have, some of them are really great, some of them are smaller.
- 15:47We're doing a monthly workshop right now that is a little bit slower to gain some traction, but it starts, we're doing a series right now called Am I Healthy?
- 15:59And I think like right now, what a great time for that because especially going into the colder seasons and right now health is just confusing.
- 16:08People think they're healthy, but is it, are you healthy because you're symptom free?
- 16:13Because the absence of symptoms is not the presence of health.
- 16:16So we'll put on different events like that where we'll feed you.
- 16:19We'll give you food and drinks.
- 16:20Just come by, say hello and let us chat about health for a while.
- 16:24But we'll do much bigger ones.
- 16:25As you know, we do a yearly barbecue event.
- 16:29which is one of my favorite things to do because I love every part of that.
- 16:34So we're doing all the cooking and all the prepping.
- 16:36We do two of them a year.
- 16:37The biggest one is in September and we invite community to it.
- 16:42Most people, think, originally think that it's, oh, you're just doing this to try to create business because you want my business.
- 16:50But that's not at all what we're about when it comes to those type of events.
- 16:54We tell people, bring your family, bring your friends, bring your neighbors.
- 16:58You got parents
- 16:59or family in town that we know can't possibly come to get under care, bring them because we want to love on them.
- 17:05We want to chat with them.
- 17:06So it's just a few hours set up where we get time to feed people, chat with people, connect with people and that's been a really good way to create that extra communication
- 17:16and connection out in the community and that's one of most enjoyable things because our entire team loves doing stuff like that.
- 17:23I think it's funny because you have a hobby of cooking and canning and doing all this interesting stuff.
- 17:28You've taken that and you've literally moved your hobby into your business to make a greater impact.
- 17:33I love to hear how that's transpired.
- 17:36And then going back to what you originally said, you know, want to be a teacher and you're utilizing those same skills in your business.
- 17:42God's allowed you to use that teachability to impact people's health beyond just your practice.
- 17:48It's really a unique thing to see.
- 17:51I didn't realize that when I started going to school that doctor actually means teacher.
- 17:57So I was thinking, man, so what a great thing and how exciting is that.
- 18:02Think about wanting to be an actual teacher being in front of a classroom to teach and connect.
- 18:09But now I still get to do that.
- 18:11It's just in a different form.
- 18:13The one I never saw happen or saw coming.
- 18:16So that's kind of an interesting road or path that has come before me.
- 18:21It's not from my doings.
- 18:25But it's kind of nice to be able to go, Hey, this is actually just what I was talking about doing or wanting to do.
- 18:31Just doing it on a different scale, different level.
- 18:33So that's been kind of cool.
- 18:35Our barbecues are amazing because yes, my hobby, one of my biggest hobbies is to cook food.
- 18:41actually smoked a brisket last night, which most people would be like, wait a second.
- 18:44yeah, I just smoked it overnight.
- 18:46Now it's wrapped and resting in a cooler right now.
- 18:49And I love doing that stuff.
- 18:51It's a hobby, whether it's smoking meats or cooking foods or
- 18:56I like to pickle uh green beans.
- 19:01I tell people they're self-proclaimed world famous.
- 19:03They're all natural and organic.
- 19:06And uh one of the reasons I enjoy doing that because I just like the prep of it.
- 19:09I like the process.
- 19:11But also, if you ever been to grocery store and try to find something pickled or meat-wise on a grocery store shelf and you read the ingredients, that stuff will kill you.
- 19:19It is crazy.
- 19:21So everything we make is natural, organic, sugar-free, no preservatives.
- 19:25And now we get to do that, which I just love doing anyway.
- 19:29And I get to take that and make that kind of like the center or the base of the food part of our community.
- 19:36So I'm gonna get to do my hobby that I love to do anyway.
- 19:39Now I'm bringing it to the barbecues, which I love to do.
- 19:41We're creating that community and hosting an event, which I love to do, and all the while teaching throughout it.
- 19:45So it's become a pretty cool thing.
- 19:48That is cool.
- 19:49What's one little bit of wisdom you want to leave us with as we end up here?
- 19:55Wow.
- 19:57And while you're thinking about it, also think about how we can get in touch with you, especially if someone's local.
- 20:03Sure, probably the biggest thing would be connection.
- 20:08I don't know if that, I'll do this real real quick, I know we're about out of time, but there's a YouTube video where a guy talks about connection and he talks about health and
- 20:17it's the largest health study that's ever been done.
- 20:19It's been going on for man, probably a hundred years now.
- 20:24And it's amazing what's going on because usually a director will die or retire or whatever and the research gets lost.
- 20:30But this has been passed down.
- 20:32And what they did was they started back, think, in the Great Depression and they took two different groups.
- 20:37a group that grew up around the Great Depression.
- 20:39They didn't have any money.
- 20:40They didn't have any like they're homeless.
- 20:42They didn't have much.
- 20:43They're all that.
- 20:44And then the second group were people that were really well off financially and economically and all that.
- 20:50And they've studied their health and ask them questions every few years.
- 20:54And then they even got the spouses involved.
- 20:56And they found that the number one determining factor that they found through all of this research over a hundred years is that the people that live the better quality of life or
- 21:05live the longest, healthiest lives are the ones that have the best connections.
- 21:09It's not about where you grew up.
- 21:11It's not about what you have.
- 21:13It's about who you're
- 21:14connected with and how strong your connections are.
- 21:17And I think that's freaking cool.
- 21:19So if we can help provide that, and I think that if anybody out there can provide that, no matter what your service is, I think that's just gonna be beneficial for you and for those
- 21:28people.
- 21:29So it's a win-win for everybody.
- 21:30That's probably the number one thing I would say.
- 21:33And then if you wanted to get ahold of, what's that?
- 21:36I think that my church is so important because it builds those connections and gives you that immediate affinity with someone.
- 21:42That's huge.
- 21:42Okay, how can I get in touch with you?
- 21:46So you can get in touch with us at several different ways.

- 22:47Hey.
- 22:48heard you talking about this, you just give me a little more information about this?
- 22:51We love that kind of stuff too, so it's not all about capturing every single client patient that we possibly can, but let's help make some connection and help people out the
- 23:00best ways that we can.
