• 2:19
  probably
• 2:19

  there.
• 2:22
  You've
• 2:22
  got
• 2:22
  a
• 2:22
  fun
• 2:23
  job
• 2:23
  there
• 2:24
  under
• 2:24
  a
• 2:25
  huge
• 2:25
  umbrella
• 2:25
  of
• 2:25
  outdoor
• 2:26
  living.
• 2:27
  Yeah,
• 2:27
  we're
• 2:27
  sometimes
• 2:28
  we
• 2:28
  say
• 2:28
  we're
• 2:28
  the
• 2:28
  biggest
• 2:29
  company
• 2:29
  people
• 2:29
  may
• 2:30
  not
• 2:30
  know
• 2:30
  of.
• 2:30
  We
• 2:31
  have
• 2:31
  a
• 2:31
  whole
• 2:31
  suite
• 2:31
  of
• 2:32
  products
• 2:32
  across
• 2:32
  brands
• 2:33
  to
• 2:33
  really
• 2:33
  help
• 2:34
  bring
• 2:34
  any
• 2:34
  outdoor
• 2:34
  living
• 2:35
  space
• 2:35
  to
• 2:35
  life.
• 2:36
  Yeah,
• 2:36
  it's
• 2:36
  a
• 2:37
  lot
• 2:37
  of
• 2:37
  fun,
• 2:37
  fun.
• 2:38
  Company
• 2:38
  to
• 2:38
  be
• 2:38
  a
• 2:38
  part
• 2:38
  of.
• 2:39
  Yeah,
• 2:40
  you
• 2:40
  guys
• 2:40
  have
• 2:40
  big
• 2:40
  stuff
• 2:41
  out
• 2:41
  there
• 2:41
  from
• 2:41
  Belgard.
• 2:42
  When
• 2:42
  it
• 2:42
  comes
• 2:43
  to
• 2:43
  pavers
• 2:43
  and
• 2:44
  block
• 2:44
  and
• 2:44
  moisture
• 2:45
  shields
• 2:45
  and
• 2:46
  the
• 2:47
  keeps
• 2:47
  going
• 2:47
  on
• 2:47
  and
• 2:47
  on.
• 2:48
  You
• 2:48
  get
• 2:48
  into
• 2:49
  some
• 2:49
  of
• 2:49
  the
• 2:49
  other
• 2:49
  stuff
• 2:49
  like
• 2:50
  sack
• 2:50
  crete
• 2:50
  that
• 2:50
  you
• 2:51
  see
• 2:51
  at
• 2:51
  your
• 2:51
  home
• 2:51
  center.
• 2:51
  There's
• 2:52
  just
• 2:52
  a
• 2:53
  lot
• 2:53
  of
• 2:53
  different
• 2:53
  stuff
• 2:53
  from
• 2:54
  fencing
• 2:54
  to
• 2:54
  pools
• 2:55
  to
• 2:55
  everything
• 2:55
  else.
• 2:56
  Yep.
• 2:57
  Yeah,
• 2:57
  it's
• 2:57
  interesting.
• 2:58
  I've
• 2:58
  been
• 2:58
  a
• 2:58
  part
• 2:58
  of
• 2:59
  the
• 2:59
  company
• 2:59
  for
• 2:59
  about
• 3:00
  a
• 3:00
  dozen
• 3:00
  years,
• 3:00
  but
• 3:01
  prior
• 3:01
  to
• 3:01
  that
• 3:01
  I
• 3:01
  was
• 3:01
  a
• 3:02
  vendor
• 3:02
  and
• 3:02
  prior
• 3:02
  to
• 3:03
  that
• 3:03
  I
• 3:03
  was
• 3:03
  a
• 3:03
  contractor.
• 3:04
  It's
• 3:04
  interesting
• 3:04
  to
• 3:04
  see
• 3:05
  the
• 3:05
  evolution
• 3:05
  of
• 3:05
  really
• 3:06
  going
• 3:06
  from
• 3:06
  a
• 3:06
  masonry
• 3:07
  hardscape
• 3:08
  company
• 3:08
  to
• 3:09
  a
• 3:09
  full
• 3:09
  outdoor
• 3:10
  living
• 3:10
  company.
• 3:10
  As
• 3:11
  you
• 3:11
  said,
• 3:11
  we've
• 3:11
  got
• 3:11
  composite
• 3:12
  decking,
• 3:12
  railing,
• 3:13
  fencing,
• 3:13
  all
• 3:14
  the
• 3:14
  above,
• 3:14
  all
• 3:14
  the
• 3:14
  ingredients,
• 3:15
  cool
• 3:15
  finishes
• 3:16
  to
• 3:16
  to
• 3:16
  bring
• 3:17
  Those
• 3:17
  spaces
• 3:17
  to
• 3:17
  life,
• 3:18
  which
• 3:19
  is
• 3:19
  a
• 3:19
  lot
• 3:19
  of
• 3:19
  fun.
• 3:20
  And
• 3:20
  you
• 3:21
  get
• 3:21
  to
• 3:21
  play
• 3:21
  with
• 3:21
  the
• 3:21
  design
• 3:22
  of
• 3:22
  all
• 3:22
  this,
• 3:22
  which
• 3:22
  I
• 3:23
  think
• 3:23
  is
• 3:23
  super
• 3:23
  cool
• 3:24
  because
• 3:24
  that's
• 3:25
  the
• 3:25
  fun
• 3:25
  part
• 3:25
  in
• 3:25
  my
• 3:26
  book.
• 3:26
  Yeah.
• 3:27
  Yeah.
• 3:27
  I
• 3:28
  think
• 3:28
  you
• 3:28
  and
• 3:28
  I
• 3:28
  share
• 3:28
  a
• 3:29
  commonality
• 3:29
  there,
• 3:29
  for
• 3:29
  sure.
• 3:30
  I.
• 3:30
  I
• 3:30
  could
• 3:30
  design
• 3:31
  all
• 3:31
  day,
• 3:31
  every
• 3:31
  day,
• 3:32
  all
• 3:32
  night.
• 3:32
  I
• 3:32
  love
• 3:33
  that.
• 3:33
  I
• 3:33
  love,
• 3:34
  I
• 3:34
  love
• 3:34
  the
• 3:34
  idea
• 3:35
  that
• 3:35
  the
• 3:35
  products
• 3:35
  we
• 3:36
  use
• 3:36
  fundamentally,
• 3:37
  they're
• 3:37
  the
• 3:37
  building
• 3:37
  blocks.
• 3:38
  Right.
• 3:38
  Of
• 3:38
  these
• 3:39
  spaces.
• 3:39
  And
• 3:39
  the
• 3:40
  design
• 3:40
  is
• 3:40
  really
• 3:40
  though,
• 3:41
  what
• 3:41
  drives
• 3:41
  all
• 3:41
  of
• 3:41
  it.
• 3:42
  And
• 3:42
  using
• 3:43
  design
• 3:43
  to
• 3:43
  create
• 3:44
  an
• 3:45
  illicit
• 3:45
  emotion
• 3:46
  and
• 3:46
  really
• 3:46
  create
• 3:47
  a
• 3:47
  space
• 3:47
  that
• 3:48
  is
• 3:48
  a
• 3:48
  sanctuary
• 3:49
  place
• 3:49
  to
• 3:49
  entertain,
• 3:50
  place
• 3:51
  for
• 3:51
  health
• 3:51
  and
• 3:51
  wellness.
• 3:52
  To
• 3:52
  me,
• 3:52
  I
• 3:52
  just,
• 3:53
  I
• 3:53
  love
• 3:53
  that.
• 3:54
  I
• 3:54
  love
• 3:54
  creating
• 3:54
  spaces
• 3:55
  that
• 3:55
  connect
• 3:55
  people
• 3:56
  to
• 3:56
  each
• 3:56
  other
• 3:56
  and
• 3:57
  to
• 3:57
  nature
• 3:57
  and
• 3:58
  yeah,
• 3:59
  it's.
• 3:59
  It's
• 3:59
  a
• 3:59
  dream
• 3:59
  job
• 4:00
  for
• 4:00
  sure.
• 4:00
  And
• 4:00
  I
• 4:00
  think
• 4:01
  the
• 4:02
  industry
• 4:02
  itself
• 4:02
  is
• 4:02
  in
• 4:03
  a
• 4:03
  really
• 4:03
  cool
• 4:03
  spot.
• 4:04
  Tons
• 4:04
  of
• 4:05
  excitement.
• 4:05
  I
• 4:05
  feel
• 4:05
  like
• 4:06
  even
• 4:06
  though
• 4:06
  I've
• 4:06
  been
• 4:06
  in
• 4:06
  this
• 4:06
  industry
• 4:07
  over
• 4:07
  30
• 4:07
  years,
• 4:08
  I
• 4:08
  feel
• 4:08
  like
• 4:08
  we're
• 4:09
  just
• 4:09
  getting
• 4:09
  started
• 4:10
  in
• 4:10
  what's
• 4:10
  possible
• 4:11
  with
• 4:11
  outdoor
• 4:12
  living.
• 4:13
  I
• 4:13
  think
• 4:13
  it's
• 4:13
  only
• 4:13
  been
• 4:14
  the
• 4:14
  last
• 4:14
  five
• 4:14
  to
• 4:15
  10
• 4:15
  years
• 4:15
  that
• 4:15
  we've
• 4:16
  really
• 4:16
  seen
• 4:16
  it
• 4:16
  take
• 4:17
  off
• 4:17
  out
• 4:17
  there.
• 4:18
  I
• 4:18
  still
• 4:18
  say
• 4:18
  it's
• 4:19
  the
• 4:19
  cheapest
• 4:19
  investment
• 4:20
  you
• 4:20
  can
• 4:20
  make
• 4:21
  in
• 4:21
  your
• 4:21
  house
• 4:21
  that
• 4:22
  gives
• 4:22
  you
• 4:23
  a
• 4:23
  bunch
• 4:24
  of
• 4:24
  space
• 4:25
  to
• 4:25
  live
• 4:25
  in
• 4:26
  and
• 4:26
  enjoy
• 4:27
  without
• 4:27
  the
• 4:28
  massive
• 4:28
  project
• 4:29
  of
• 4:29
  adding
• 4:29
  on
• 4:30
  to
• 4:30
  your.
• 4:31
  To
• 4:31
  your
• 4:31
  residence.
• 4:32
  Yeah,
• 4:32
  it's
• 4:32
  just
• 4:32
  a
• 4:32
  great
• 4:33
  buy.
• 4:34
  Yeah.
• 4:34
  A
• 4:34
  lot
• 4:34
  of
• 4:34
  people
• 4:35
  don't
• 4:35
  think
• 4:35
  of
• 4:36
  it
• 4:36
  that
• 4:36
  way.
• 4:36
  I
• 4:36
  think
• 4:37
  if
• 4:37
  you
• 4:37
  look
• 4:37
  at
• 4:37
  the
• 4:37
  average
• 4:38
  cost
• 4:38
  of
• 4:38
  an
• 4:38
  addition
• 4:39
  or
• 4:39
  even
• 4:39
  new
• 4:40
  construction
• 4:40
  being
• 4:40
  250,
• 4:41
  350
• 4:42
  a
• 4:42
  square
• 4:42
  foot
• 4:43
  outdoor
• 4:44
  living
• 4:44
  space,
• 4:44
  a
• 4:45
  full
• 4:45
  blown,
• 4:45
  all
• 4:46
  bells
• 4:47
  and
• 4:47
  whistles
• 4:47
  could
• 4:47
  be
• 4:48
  half
• 4:48
  that
• 4:48
  or
• 4:48
  much
• 4:49
  less.
• 4:50
  And
• 4:50
  granted
• 4:51
  it
• 4:51
  doesn't
• 4:51
  necessarily
• 4:52
  always
• 4:52
  have
• 4:52
  a
• 4:52
  roof
• 4:52
  on
• 4:52
  it,
• 4:53
  but
• 4:53
  the
• 4:54
  same
• 4:54
  features
• 4:54
  are
• 4:55
  there
• 4:55
  as
• 4:55
  you'd
• 4:55
  have
• 4:55
  on
• 4:56
  the
• 4:56
  interior,
• 4:57
  all
• 4:57
  the
• 4:57
  living
• 4:57
  spaces,
• 4:58
  the
• 4:58
  cooking
• 4:58
  spaces,
• 4:59
  lighting,
• 4:59
  sound,
• 4:59
  all
• 5:00
  of
• 5:00
  those
• 5:00
  things.
• 5:00
  And,
• 5:00
  and
• 5:01
  it
• 5:01
  has
• 5:01
  incredible
• 5:01
  roi,
• 5:02
  which
• 5:03
  people
• 5:03
  ask
• 5:03
  me
• 5:03
  that
• 5:04
  question
• 5:04
  all
• 5:04
  the
• 5:04
  time.
• 5:04
  Like
• 5:05
  the
• 5:05
  space
• 5:05
  itself,
• 5:06
  you
• 5:06
  should
• 5:06
  be
• 5:06
  buying
• 5:06
  these
• 5:06
  spaces
• 5:07
  for
• 5:07
  what
• 5:07
  they
• 5:07
  can
• 5:07
  do.
• 5:08
  For
• 5:08
  you
• 5:08
  personally,
• 5:09
  clearly
• 5:09
  ROI
• 5:10
  is
• 5:10
  important,
• 5:10
  but
• 5:11
  I
• 5:11
  always
• 5:11
  feel
• 5:11
  like
• 5:11
  that
• 5:11
  shouldn't
• 5:12
  be
• 5:12
  the
• 5:12
  driver
• 5:12
  in
• 5:13
  why
• 5:13
  you
• 5:13
  do
• 5:13
  something
• 5:13
  or
• 5:14
  not.
• 5:14
  But
• 5:14
  yeah,
• 5:14
  it's
• 5:15
  been,
• 5:15
  it's
• 5:16
  been
• 5:16
  a
• 5:16
  radical
• 5:16
  transformation
• 5:17
  in
• 5:18
  the
• 5:18
  past
• 5:18
  30
• 5:18
  years,
• 5:19
  that's
• 5:19
  for
• 5:19
  sure.
• 5:20
  No
• 5:20
  kidding.
• 5:21
  It
• 5:21
  was
• 5:21
  that
• 5:22
  wood
• 5:22
  deck,
• 5:22
  it
• 5:22
  was
• 5:23
  maybe
• 5:23
  a
• 5:23
  patio
• 5:23
  paver.
• 5:24
  And
• 5:24
  that
• 5:24
  was
• 5:24
  where
• 5:25
  we
• 5:25
  were
• 5:25
  stuck
• 5:25
  for
• 5:26
  about
• 5:26
  40
• 5:26
  years,
• 5:27
  it
• 5:27
  seemed.
• 5:28
  And
• 5:28
  then
• 5:28
  all
• 5:29
  of
• 5:29
  a
• 5:29
  sudden
• 5:30
  it
• 5:30
  exploded
• 5:31
  probably
• 5:31
  15
• 5:32
  or
• 5:32
  20
• 5:32
  years
• 5:32
  ago.
• 5:33
  Yep.
• 5:33
  And
• 5:34
  then
• 5:34
  we
• 5:34
  started
• 5:35
  to
• 5:35
  really
• 5:35
  get
• 5:35
  into.
• 5:36
  You'd
• 5:36
  see
• 5:36
  houses
• 5:37
  with
• 5:37
  amazing
• 5:37
  architecture
• 5:38
  outside
• 5:38
  and
• 5:39
  the
• 5:39
  landscape
• 5:39
  architecture.
• 5:40
  But
• 5:41
  really
• 5:41
  calling
• 5:41
  that
• 5:42
  an
• 5:42
  outdoor
• 5:43
  living
• 5:43
  space
• 5:43
  really
• 5:43
  took
• 5:44
  off.
• 5:44
  And
• 5:45
  I'm
• 5:45
  sure
• 5:45
  you've
• 5:46
  seen
• 5:46
  the
• 5:46
  trends
• 5:46
  change
• 5:47
  from
• 5:47
  where
• 5:47
  you
• 5:48
  started
• 5:48
  back
• 5:48
  then
• 5:49
  to
• 5:50
  man,
• 5:50
  the
• 5:50
  world
• 5:50
  is
• 5:50
  your
• 5:50
  oyster
• 5:51
  right
• 5:51
  now.
• 5:52
  Yeah,
• 5:52
  it's
• 5:52
  crazy,
• 5:53
  I
• 5:53
  think,
• 5:53
  and
• 5:54
  there's
• 5:54
  been
• 5:54
  a
• 5:54
  fundamental
• 5:55
  shift
• 5:55
  in
• 5:55
  how
• 5:55
  people
• 5:56
  think
• 5:56
  about
• 5:56
  the
• 5:56
  space.
• 5:57
  And
• 5:57
  I
• 5:57
  know
• 5:58
  you
• 5:58
  probably
• 5:58
  read
• 5:58
  some
• 5:59
  of
• 5:59
  this
• 5:59
  as
• 5:59
  well.
• 5:59
  Especially
• 6:00
  in
• 6:00
  the
• 6:00
  last
• 6:01
  five
• 6:01
  years
• 6:01
  since
• 6:01
  the
• 6:02
  pandemic,
• 6:03
  people's
• 6:03
  mindsets
• 6:04
  about
• 6:04
  outdoor
• 6:05
  living
• 6:05
  in
• 6:05
  general
• 6:06
  change.
• 6:07
  But
• 6:07
  I
• 6:07
  think
• 6:07
  just
• 6:07
  there's
• 6:08
  a
• 6:08
  growing
• 6:08
  awareness
• 6:09
  of
• 6:09
  this
• 6:09
  need
• 6:10
  for
• 6:10
  nature
• 6:10
  and
• 6:10
  how
• 6:11
  our
• 6:11
  brains
• 6:11
  respond
• 6:12
  to
• 6:12
  being
• 6:12
  in
• 6:12
  a
• 6:13
  natural
• 6:13
  environment
• 6:14
  and
• 6:14
  how
• 6:14
  important
• 6:15
  that
• 6:15
  is
• 6:15
  for
• 6:15
  us
• 6:16
  on
• 6:16
  a
• 6:17
  day
• 6:17
  to
• 6:17
  day
• 6:17
  basis.
• 6:18
  And
• 6:18
  you
• 6:19
  can
• 6:19
  see
• 6:19
  this
• 6:19
  information
• 6:20
  literally
• 6:20
  everywhere
• 6:21
  now,
• 6:21
  where
• 6:21
  it's
• 6:22
  becoming,
• 6:22
  I
• 6:23
  would
• 6:23
  say
• 6:23
  common
• 6:23
  knowledge
• 6:24
  that
• 6:25
  outdoor
• 6:25
  living
• 6:25
  spaces
• 6:26
  and
• 6:26
  nature
• 6:27
  in
• 6:27
  general
• 6:27
  isn't
• 6:27
  an.
• 6:28
  It's
• 6:28
  a,
• 6:28
  it
• 6:28
  isn't
• 6:28
  a
• 6:28
  nice
• 6:29
  to
• 6:29
  have,
• 6:29
  it's
• 6:29
  a
• 6:29
  need
• 6:29
  to
• 6:30
  have.
• 6:30
  And
• 6:31
  I
• 6:31
  think
• 6:31
  we
• 6:31
  all
• 6:31
  experienced
• 6:32
  that
• 6:32
  over
• 6:32
  the
• 6:33
  last
• 6:33
  five
• 6:33
  years.
• 6:34
  And
• 6:35
  you
• 6:35
  look
• 6:35
  at
• 6:35
  what
• 6:35
  implications
• 6:36
  that
• 6:36
  has
• 6:37
  and
• 6:37
  the
• 6:37
  science
• 6:37
  that's
• 6:38
  coming
• 6:38
  out
• 6:38
  to
• 6:38
  support
• 6:39
  this,
• 6:39
  it
• 6:40
  goes
• 6:40
  way
• 6:40
  beyond
• 6:41
  creating
• 6:41
  a
• 6:41
  space
• 6:42
  for
• 6:42
  entertainment.
• 6:43
  And
• 6:43
  all
• 6:43
  those
• 6:43
  things
• 6:44
  are
• 6:44
  clear,
• 6:44
  clearly
• 6:45
  part
• 6:45
  of
• 6:45
  it.
• 6:46
  But
• 6:46
  I
• 6:47
  would
• 6:47
  say
• 6:47
  there's
• 6:48
  this
• 6:48
  worldwide
• 6:49
  macro
• 6:49
  trend
• 6:50
  of
• 6:50
  biophilic
• 6:51
  design
• 6:51
  and
• 6:52
  this
• 6:52
  idea
• 6:52
  that
• 6:53
  where
• 6:54
  we
• 6:54
  live
• 6:54
  and
• 6:54
  work
• 6:55
  and
• 6:55
  play
• 6:55
  in
• 6:56
  the
• 6:56
  built
• 6:56
  world,
• 6:57
  that
• 6:58
  we
• 6:58
  need
• 6:58
  to
• 6:58
  do
• 6:58
  a
• 6:58
  better
• 6:59
  job
• 6:59
  of
• 6:59
  connecting
• 7:00
  that
• 7:00
  indoor
• 7:01
  outdoor
• 7:01
  space
• 7:02
  and
• 7:02
  connecting
• 7:02
  it
• 7:02
  also
• 7:03
  with
• 7:03
  the
• 7:04
  local
• 7:04
  ecosystem.
• 7:05
  So
• 7:05
  the
• 7:05
  idea
• 7:06
  of
• 7:06
  outdoor
• 7:06
  living,
• 7:06
  I
• 7:07
  think,
• 7:07
  has
• 7:07
  become
• 7:07
  much
• 7:08
  more
• 7:08
  holistic
• 7:10
  in
• 7:10
  its
• 7:10
  approach.
• 7:11
  And
• 7:12
  that
• 7:13
  shift,
• 7:13
  I
• 7:13
  would
• 7:13
  say,
• 7:14
  is
• 7:14
  a
• 7:14
  fundamental.
• 7:15
  It's
• 7:16
  a
• 7:16
  sea
• 7:16
  change
• 7:16
  right
• 7:17
  within
• 7:17
  our
• 7:17
  industry
• 7:17
  and
• 7:18
  it
• 7:18
  forces
• 7:19
  people
• 7:19
  to
• 7:19
  look
• 7:19
  at
• 7:19
  these
• 7:20
  spaces
• 7:20
  in
• 7:20
  a
• 7:20
  much
• 7:20
  different
• 7:21
  way.
• 7:22
  And
• 7:22
  for
• 7:22
  me,
• 7:24
  I
• 7:24
  love
• 7:24
  design.
• 7:24
  I
• 7:25
  love,
• 7:25
  as
• 7:25
  I
• 7:25
  said,
• 7:25
  I
• 7:25
  love
• 7:25
  creating
• 7:26
  these
• 7:26
  spaces.
• 7:27
  Understanding
• 7:28
  that,
• 7:28
  and
• 7:28
  for
• 7:28
  a
• 7:28
  company
• 7:29
  like
• 7:29
  Oldcast,
• 7:29
  clearly
• 7:30
  understanding
• 7:30
  that
• 7:30
  is
• 7:30
  a
• 7:31
  key
• 7:31
  part
• 7:31
  of
• 7:31
  our
• 7:31
  business,
• 7:31
  but
• 7:32
  also
• 7:33
  disseminating
• 7:34
  that
• 7:34
  information
• 7:34
  out
• 7:35
  into
• 7:35
  the
• 7:35
  world
• 7:35
  to
• 7:35
  our
• 7:36
  network
• 7:36
  of
• 7:36
  designers,
• 7:37
  dealers,
• 7:37
  contractors,
• 7:38
  homeowners,
• 7:39
  that
• 7:40
  these
• 7:40
  spaces
• 7:41
  can
• 7:41
  really,
• 7:42
  truly
• 7:42
  impact
• 7:42
  your
• 7:43
  life
• 7:43
  in
• 7:43
  a
• 7:43
  profound
• 7:44
  way
• 7:44
  that
• 7:44
  goes
• 7:45
  beyond
• 7:45
  even
• 7:46
  some
• 7:47
  of
• 7:47
  our
• 7:47
  conscious
• 7:47
  understanding.
• 7:48
  And
• 7:48
  this
• 7:48
  is
• 7:49
  where
• 7:49
  the
• 7:49
  neuroscience
• 7:49
  part
• 7:50
  comes
• 7:50
  in,
• 7:51
  which
• 7:51
  I
• 7:51
  could
• 7:52
  nerd
• 7:52
  out
• 7:52
  on
• 7:52
  this
• 7:52
  all
• 7:52
  day
• 7:53
  long
• 7:53
  and
• 7:53
  go
• 7:53
  down
• 7:53
  a
• 7:53
  long
• 7:54
  rabbit
• 7:54
  hole.
• 7:54
  But
• 7:55
  I
• 7:56
  just
• 7:56
  think
• 7:56
  it's
• 7:56
  fascinating
• 7:57
  as
• 7:57
  we
• 7:57
  learn
• 7:57
  more
• 7:58
  about
• 7:58
  it.
• 7:59
  Oh,
• 7:59
  it's
• 7:59
  great,
• 7:59
  man.
• 8:00
  I
• 8:00
  built
• 8:01
  an
• 8:01
  outdoor
• 8:01
  kitchen
• 8:01
  space
• 8:02
  in
• 8:02
  my
• 8:03
  backyard
• 8:03
  where
• 8:04
  I've
• 8:04
  got
• 8:04
  a
• 8:04
  wood
• 8:05
  fired
• 8:05
  pizza
• 8:06
  oven,
• 8:06
  a
• 8:06
  big
• 8:06
  huge
• 8:07
  domed
• 8:07
  one
• 8:07
  that
• 8:07
  I
• 8:08
  built.
• 8:08
  I've
• 8:08
  got
• 8:08
  the
• 8:09
  barbecue,
• 8:10
  it's
• 8:10
  partially
• 8:10
  covered,
• 8:11
  partially
• 8:11
  not.
• 8:12
  I
• 8:12
  can't
• 8:12
  be
• 8:13
  sitting
• 8:13
  out
• 8:13
  There
• 8:13
  cooking
• 8:14
  a
• 8:14
  pizza.
• 8:14
  And
• 8:15
  this
• 8:15
  happened
• 8:15
  this
• 8:15
  last
• 8:16
  year.
• 8:16
  And
• 8:16
  I
• 8:16
  look
• 8:16
  up
• 8:17
  and
• 8:17
  I
• 8:17
  see
• 8:18
  a
• 8:18
  bald
• 8:18
  eagle
• 8:19
  sitting
• 8:19
  in
• 8:19
  my
• 8:19
  neighbor's
• 8:20
  tree.
• 8:20
  Sitting
• 8:20
  there.
• 8:21
  Yeah.
• 8:21
  And
• 8:21
  I.
• 8:22
  You
• 8:22
  just
• 8:22
  don't
• 8:22
  get
• 8:22
  that
• 8:23
  living
• 8:23
  inside,
• 8:24
  cooking
• 8:24
  in
• 8:25
  the
• 8:25
  kitchen,
• 8:26
  in
• 8:26
  most
• 8:26
  kitchens
• 8:27
  at
• 8:27
  least,
• 8:27
  and
• 8:27
  you're
• 8:28
  just
• 8:28
  out
• 8:28
  with
• 8:28
  nature.
• 8:29
  And
• 8:29
  quite
• 8:29
  frankly,
• 8:30
  in
• 8:30
  the
• 8:30
  summertime,
• 8:30
  when
• 8:31
  I'm
• 8:31
  out
• 8:31
  doing
• 8:31
  it,
• 8:31
  or
• 8:31
  in
• 8:31
  the
• 8:32
  fall,
• 8:32
  in
• 8:32
  the
• 8:32
  winter,
• 8:33
  I
• 8:33
  don't
• 8:33
  want
• 8:33
  what
• 8:34
  I'm
• 8:34
  cooking
• 8:34
  outside
• 8:35
  heating
• 8:35
  up
• 8:35
  and
• 8:35
  smelling
• 8:36
  up
• 8:36
  the
• 8:36
  house.
• 8:36
  Anyway,
• 8:37
  the
• 8:37
  other
• 8:37
  night
• 8:37
  I
• 8:37
  was
• 8:38
  barbecuing
• 8:38
  and
• 8:38
  I
• 8:38
  was
• 8:39
  going
• 8:39
  to
• 8:39
  put
• 8:39
  it
• 8:39
  on
• 8:39
  the.
• 8:40
  I
• 8:40
  was
• 8:40
  going
• 8:40
  to
• 8:40
  cook
• 8:40
  it
• 8:41
  in
• 8:41
  the
• 8:41
  house
• 8:41
  and
• 8:41
  I'm
• 8:41
  like,
• 8:41
  I'm
• 8:42
  just
• 8:42
  going
• 8:42
  to
• 8:42
  run
• 8:42
  out
• 8:42
  and
• 8:42
  throw
• 8:42
  it
• 8:43
  in
• 8:43
  the
• 8:43
  barbecue
• 8:43
  because
• 8:44
  that
• 8:44
  way
• 8:44
  I
• 8:44
  don't
• 8:44
  have
• 8:44
  the
• 8:44
  house
• 8:45
  smelling
• 8:45
  like
• 8:45
  salmon
• 8:45
  all
• 8:46
  night.
• 8:46
  Now,
• 8:47
  you
• 8:47
  think
• 8:47
  about
• 8:47
  years
• 8:47
  ago,
• 8:48
  people,
• 8:48
  the
• 8:49
  homesteaders,
• 8:49
  had
• 8:50
  outdoor
• 8:50
  kitchens,
• 8:50
  Right.
• 8:50
  They
• 8:51
  had
• 8:51
  summer
• 8:51
  kitchens
• 8:52
  where
• 8:52
  they
• 8:52
  had
• 8:52
  this
• 8:52
  separate
• 8:53
  for
• 8:53
  that
• 8:53
  same
• 8:53
  reason.
• 8:55
  It
• 8:55
  is
• 8:55
  interesting.
• 8:55
  I've
• 8:56
  had
• 8:56
  this
• 8:56
  discussion
• 8:56
  many
• 8:57
  times
• 8:57
  over
• 8:57
  the
• 8:57
  years,
• 8:57
  and
• 8:58
  people,
• 8:58
  I'll
• 8:58
  be
• 8:59
  talking
• 8:59
  more
• 8:59
  about
• 8:59
  this
• 9:00
  kind
• 9:00
  of
• 9:01
  more
• 9:01
  emotional
• 9:01
  side
• 9:02
  of
• 9:02
  what's
• 9:02
  driving
• 9:03
  people.
• 9:03
  Yeah,
• 9:03
  that's
• 9:04
  true.
• 9:04
  What
• 9:05
  about
• 9:05
  the
• 9:05
  guy
• 9:05
  who
• 9:05
  wants
• 9:06
  to
• 9:06
  smoke
• 9:06
  a
• 9:06
  cigar
• 9:07
  and
• 9:07
  watch
• 9:07
  the
• 9:07
  game
• 9:07
  and
• 9:08
  hang
• 9:08
  out
• 9:08
  with
• 9:08
  his
• 9:08
  buddies
• 9:09
  and
• 9:09
  builds
• 9:09
  this
• 9:09
  out
• 9:10
  their
• 9:10
  kitchen,
• 9:10
  puts
• 9:10
  TV
• 9:11
  out
• 9:11
  there?
• 9:11
  And
• 9:12
  I
• 9:12
  said,
• 9:12
  all
• 9:13
  right,
• 9:13
  I
• 9:13
  can
• 9:13
  guarantee
• 9:13
  that
• 9:14
  guy
• 9:14
  has
• 9:14
  a
• 9:14
  kitchen,
• 9:15
  probably
• 9:15
  has
• 9:15
  a
• 9:15
  fireplace,
• 9:16
  all
• 9:16
  those
• 9:17
  same
• 9:17
  things
• 9:17
  on
• 9:17
  the.
• 9:17
  Why
• 9:18
  would
• 9:18
  he
• 9:18
  spend
• 9:19
  50
• 9:19
  or
• 9:19
  100,000
• 9:20
  to
• 9:20
  do
• 9:20
  it
• 9:20
  outside?
• 9:22
  Because
• 9:22
  it
• 9:22
  feels
• 9:22
  better.
• 9:23
  Right.
• 9:23
  And
• 9:24
  why
• 9:24
  does
• 9:24
  it
• 9:24
  feel
• 9:25
  better?
• 9:25
  And
• 9:25
  for
• 9:25
  us,
• 9:26
  that's
• 9:27
  the
• 9:27
  question.
• 9:27
  Why
• 9:28
  are
• 9:28
  we
• 9:29
  so
• 9:29
  drawn
• 9:29
  to
• 9:30
  these
• 9:30
  outdoor
• 9:30
  spaces?
• 9:31
  And
• 9:31
  I
• 9:31
  think
• 9:32
  this
• 9:32
  is
• 9:32
  where
• 9:33
  the
• 9:33
  scientific
• 9:33
  community
• 9:34
  comes
• 9:34
  in.
• 9:34
  We're
• 9:35
  actually
• 9:35
  involved
• 9:35
  with
• 9:35
  several
• 9:35
  organizations
• 9:36
  that
• 9:36
  are
• 9:37
  studying
• 9:37
  this.
• 9:38
  And
• 9:38
  what's
• 9:38
  fascinating
• 9:39
  is
• 9:39
  it's
• 9:39
  not
• 9:39
  made
• 9:39
  up
• 9:40
  of
• 9:40
  just
• 9:40
  people
• 9:40
  from
• 9:40
  the
• 9:41
  industry.
• 9:41
  We're
• 9:41
  talking
• 9:42
  the
• 9:42
  medical
• 9:43
  community,
• 9:44
  psychiatrists,
• 9:45
  architects,
• 9:46
  artists,
• 9:47
  professors
• 9:47
  who
• 9:47
  study
• 9:48
  fractal
• 9:48
  geometry,
• 9:49
  neuroscientists
• 9:50
  who
• 9:50
  study
• 9:50
  how
• 9:51
  our
• 9:51
  brains
• 9:51
  react
• 9:52
  to
• 9:52
  subconscious
• 9:53
  stimuli.
• 9:55
  And
• 9:55
  it's
• 9:56
  absolutely
• 9:57
  stunning
• 9:57
  how
• 9:58
  this
• 9:58
  data
• 9:58
  is
• 9:59
  showing
• 9:59
  us
• 9:59
  that,
• 10:00
  number
• 10:00
  one,
• 10:00
  we
• 10:01
  have
• 10:01
  an
• 10:01
  incredible
• 10:02
  nature
• 10:02
  deficit
• 10:03
  in
• 10:03
  this
• 10:03
  country.
• 10:04
  And
• 10:04
  really
• 10:04
  the
• 10:04
  built
• 10:04
  world,
• 10:05
  the
• 10:05
  average
• 10:05
  American
• 10:06
  spends,
• 10:06
  If
• 10:06
  we're
• 10:06
  lucky,
• 10:07
  20,
• 10:07
  30
• 10:07
  minutes
• 10:07
  a
• 10:08
  day
• 10:08
  outside
• 10:08
  and
• 10:09
  we're
• 10:09
  spending
• 10:10
  six,
• 10:10
  seven,
• 10:10
  eight
• 10:11
  hours
• 10:11
  on
• 10:11
  screens.
• 10:12
  Right.
• 10:12
  And
• 10:12
  so
• 10:13
  we
• 10:13
  see
• 10:13
  this
• 10:14
  direct
• 10:14
  correlation
• 10:14
  between
• 10:15

• 12:38
  back
• 12:38
  to
• 12:38
  the

• 12:39
  The
• 12:39
  irony
• 12:40
  of
• 12:40
  this
• 12:40
  is
• 12:40
  I
• 12:41
  love
• 12:41
  technology.
• 12:41
  I
• 12:41
  design
• 12:42
  all
• 12:42
  day,
• 12:43
  but
• 12:44
  it
• 12:45
  doesn't
• 12:45
  take
• 12:45
  long.
• 12:45
  Like,
• 12:46
  we
• 12:46
  all
• 12:46
  just
• 12:46
  know
• 12:46
  it
• 12:47
  when
• 12:47
  you
• 12:47
  go
• 12:47
  outside
• 12:47
  and
• 12:48
  you
• 12:48
  go
• 12:48
  for
• 12:48
  a
• 12:48
  walk
• 12:48
  or
• 12:49
  you
• 12:49
  just
• 12:49
  within
• 12:49
  minutes,
• 12:50
  you
• 12:50
  just
• 12:50
  decompress
• 12:51
  and
• 12:51
  you
• 12:51
  don't
• 12:51
  even
• 12:51
  have
• 12:52
  to
• 12:52
  do
• 12:52
  anything.
• 12:52
  You're
• 12:52
  just
• 12:53
  naturally
• 12:53
  more
• 12:54
  relaxed.
• 12:54
  And
• 12:54
  that's
• 12:55
  really
• 12:55
  the
• 12:55
  fundamental
• 12:56
  driver,
• 12:56
  we
• 12:56
  believe,
• 12:56
  of
• 12:57
  why
• 12:57
  people
• 12:57
  want
• 12:58
  these
• 12:58
  space.
• 12:58
  But
• 12:58
  I
• 12:59
  think
• 12:59
  it's
• 12:59
  up
• 12:59
  to
• 12:59
  us
• 13:00
  to
• 13:00
  draw
• 13:01
  that
• 13:01
  out
• 13:01
  and
• 13:01
  also
• 13:02
  educate
• 13:02
  them
• 13:02
  on
• 13:02
  the
• 13:03
  benefits
• 13:03
  of
• 13:03
  it.
• 13:03
  It's
• 13:04
  funny,
• 13:04
  I
• 13:04
  put
• 13:04
  an
• 13:05
  a
• 13:05
  TV
• 13:05
  outside
• 13:06
  in
• 13:06
  my
• 13:06
  area,
• 13:06
  but
• 13:07
  what
• 13:07
  I
• 13:07
  found
• 13:07
  is
• 13:08
  I
• 13:08
  stream
• 13:09
  music
• 13:10
  video
• 13:10
  channels
• 13:11
  like
• 13:11
  it's
• 13:11
  80s
• 13:12
  on
• 13:12
  MTV.
• 13:13
  So
• 13:13
  when
• 13:13
  I'm
• 13:14
  outside,
• 13:14
  I'm
• 13:14
  not
• 13:15
  watching
• 13:15
  some
• 13:16
  series
• 13:16
  television
• 13:17
  show.
• 13:17
  I
• 13:17
  got
• 13:17
  music
• 13:18
  in
• 13:18
  the
• 13:18
  background
• 13:18
  like
• 13:19
  it's
• 13:19
  music.
• 13:19
  And
• 13:20
  if
• 13:20
  I
• 13:20
  want
• 13:20
  to
• 13:20
  look
• 13:20
  up
• 13:21
  and
• 13:21
  see
• 13:21
  what
• 13:21
  that
• 13:21
  band's
• 13:22
  doing,
• 13:22
  they're
• 13:23
  up
• 13:23
  there.
• 13:24
  And
• 13:24
  then
• 13:24
  these
• 13:25
  days,
• 13:25
  my
• 13:25
  little
• 13:25
  hack
• 13:26
  for
• 13:26
  that
• 13:26
  is
• 13:26
  I
• 13:26
  don't
• 13:26
  go
• 13:26
  out
• 13:27
  and
• 13:27
  spend
• 13:27
  $4,000
• 13:28
  on
• 13:28
  outdoor
• 13:29
  TV
• 13:30
  since
• 13:30
  it's
• 13:30
  covered.
• 13:30
  I
• 13:31
  just
• 13:31
  recycle
• 13:31
  my
• 13:32
  TV
• 13:33
  that
• 13:33
  I
• 13:33
  took
• 13:33
  out
• 13:33
  of
• 13:33
  the
• 13:34
  living
• 13:34
  room
• 13:34
  two
• 13:34
  years
• 13:34
  ago
• 13:35
  when
• 13:35
  I
• 13:35
  upgraded
• 13:35
  and
• 13:36
  I
• 13:36
  throw
• 13:36
  it
• 13:36
  out
• 13:36
  there
• 13:36
  and
• 13:36
  when
• 13:37
  I'm
• 13:37
  done,
• 13:37
  I
• 13:37
  go
• 13:37
  recycle
• 13:38
  it.
• 13:38
  It's
• 13:38
  like
• 13:38
  the
• 13:38
  last
• 13:39
  of
• 13:39
  life
• 13:39
  for
• 13:39
  it.
• 13:40
  It's
• 13:40
  been
• 13:40
  outside
• 13:41
  for
• 13:41
  four
• 13:41
  years
• 13:41
  and
• 13:42
  it's
• 13:42
  done
• 13:42
  great.
• 13:43
  Yeah,
• 13:43
  it's
• 13:44
  durable
• 13:44
  enough.
• 13:45
  Yeah,
• 13:45
  no,
• 13:45
  it's
• 13:46
  true.
• 13:46
  And
• 13:46
  they're
• 13:46
  inexpensive
• 13:47
  enough
• 13:47
  to
• 13:47
  today
• 13:47
  too,
• 13:48
  that
• 13:48
  a
• 13:48
  lot
• 13:48
  of
• 13:48
  people
• 13:48
  are
• 13:48
  doing
• 13:49
  that.
• 13:49
  You
• 13:49
  don't
• 13:49
  need
• 13:49
  the
• 13:49
  big
• 13:50
  weatherproof
• 13:50
  tv.
• 13:51
  You
• 13:51
  need
• 13:51
  to
• 13:51
  keep
• 13:51
  it
• 13:52
  weather
• 13:52
  covered
• 13:53
  from
• 13:53
  the
• 13:53
  weather.
• 13:53
  But
• 13:54
  they'll
• 13:54
  last
• 13:54
  a
• 13:54
  long
• 13:55
  time
• 13:55
  if
• 13:55
  you
• 13:55
  take
• 13:55
  care
• 13:55
  of
• 13:56
  them,
• 13:56
  that's
• 13:56
  for
• 13:56
  sure.
• 13:57
  Sure.
• 13:57
  If
• 13:57
  I
• 13:57
  get
• 13:57
  blowing
• 13:58
  snow
• 13:58
  or
• 13:58
  something
• 13:58
  weird
• 13:59
  that
• 13:59
  could
• 13:59
  get
• 13:59
  in
• 13:59
  there,
• 13:59
  I
• 13:59
  just
• 13:59
  go
• 13:59
  out
• 14:00
  and
• 14:00
  throw
• 14:00
  some
• 14:00
  garbage
• 14:00
  bags
• 14:01
  and
• 14:01
  some
• 14:02
  gaff
• 14:02
  tape
• 14:02
  around
• 14:02
  it.
• 14:03
  It's
• 14:03
  good
• 14:03
  to
• 14:03
  go.
• 14:03
  And
• 14:03
  then
• 14:04
  I
• 14:04
  take
• 14:04
  it
• 14:04
  down
• 14:04
  again.
• 14:04
  It'll
• 14:05
  be
• 14:05
  fine.
• 14:05
  Yeah.
• 14:06
  If
• 14:06
  for
• 14:06
  $4,000
• 14:07
  difference,
• 14:08
  I
• 14:08
  can
• 14:08
  sure
• 14:08
  do
• 14:09
  that.
• 14:09
  But
• 14:09
  there's
• 14:10
  so
• 14:10
  many
• 14:10
  great
• 14:11
  values
• 14:11
  when
• 14:11
  you
• 14:12
  get
• 14:12
  outside
• 14:12
  and
• 14:12
  start
• 14:13
  designing
• 14:13
  from
• 14:14
  the
• 14:14
  technology
• 14:14
  that
• 14:15
  goes
• 14:15
  into
• 14:15
  products.
• 14:16
  We
• 14:16
  had
• 14:16
  our
• 14:16
  redwood
• 14:17
  and
• 14:17
  cedar
• 14:18
  and
• 14:18
  southern
• 14:18
  yellow
• 14:19
  pine
• 14:19
  decks
• 14:19
  going
• 14:20
  across
• 14:20
  the
• 14:20
  country
• 14:21
  into
• 14:21
  what
• 14:22
  was
• 14:22
  the
• 14:23
  first
• 14:23
  generations
• 14:24
  of
• 14:24
  composites.
• 14:25
  And
• 14:25
  then
• 14:26
  heck,
• 14:26
  I've
• 14:27
  got
• 14:27
  moisture
• 14:27
  shield
• 14:28
  decking
• 14:28
  on
• 14:28
  my
• 14:29
  deck,
• 14:29
  which
• 14:29
  is
• 14:29
  an
• 14:29
  old
• 14:30
  castle
• 14:30
  brand.
• 14:31
  And
• 14:31
  when
• 14:31
  I
• 14:32
  go
• 14:32
  walking
• 14:32
  across
• 14:32
  with
• 14:33
  bare
• 14:33
  feet,
• 14:34
  my
• 14:34
  wood
• 14:34
  deck
• 14:35
  is.
• 14:36
  That's
• 14:36
  on
• 14:36
  the
• 14:36
  side.
• 14:37
  Is
• 14:37
  actually
• 14:37
  hotter
• 14:38
  than
• 14:39
  the
• 14:39
  composite
• 14:39
  deck,
• 14:40
  which
• 14:40
  is
• 14:40
  exactly
• 14:41
  the
• 14:41
  opposite
• 14:41
  if
• 14:41
  it
• 14:41
  was
• 14:42
  another
• 14:42
  decking
• 14:42
  product.
• 14:42
  So
• 14:43
  it's
• 14:43
  amazing
• 14:44
  how
• 14:44
  technology
• 14:45
  is
• 14:45
  starting
• 14:45
  to
• 14:45
  really
• 14:46
  step
• 14:46
  in.
• 14:46
  And
• 14:46
  moisture
• 14:47
  shield's
• 14:47
  nothing
• 14:48
  new
• 14:48
  with
• 14:48
  that
• 14:48
  reflective
• 14:49
  heat
• 14:49
  technology.
• 14:50
  Yeah,
• 14:50
  it's
• 14:51
  interesting.
• 14:51
  You're
• 14:51
  right.
• 14:52
  All
• 14:53
  of
• 14:53
  this
• 14:53
  continues
• 14:53
  to
• 14:54
  evolve.
• 14:54
  And
• 14:54
  when
• 14:55
  you
• 14:55
  talk
• 14:55
  to
• 14:55
  people
• 14:55
  like
• 14:55
  you're
• 14:56
  in
• 14:56
  the
• 14:56
  landscape,
• 14:56
  you're
• 14:56
  out
• 14:56
  there
• 14:56
  living.
• 14:57
  Oh,
• 14:57
  you
• 14:57
  guys
• 14:57
  are
• 14:57
  the
• 14:57
  brick
• 14:58
  guys.
• 14:58
  The
• 14:59
  foundational
• 14:59
  products
• 15:00
  haven't
• 15:00
  necessarily
• 15:01
  changed
• 15:01
  from
• 15:01
  the
• 15:02
  ingredient
• 15:02
  level,
• 15:02
  but
• 15:02
  the
• 15:03
  technology
• 15:03
  certainly
• 15:04
  has
• 15:04
  with
• 15:04
  different
• 15:04
  finishes
• 15:05
  and
• 15:06
  aesthetics,
• 15:06
  with
• 15:07
  textures,
• 15:07
  color,
• 15:08
  heat
• 15:08
  reflecting
• 15:09
  technology,
• 15:09
  recycled
• 15:10
  content.
• 15:11
  We
• 15:11
  are
• 15:12
  right
• 15:12
  in
• 15:12
  the
• 15:13
  in
• 15:13
  line,
• 15:13
  I
• 15:13
  would
• 15:13
  say,
• 15:14
  with
• 15:14
  what's
• 15:14
  going
• 15:14
  on
• 15:14
  in
• 15:14
  the
• 15:14
  digital
• 15:15
  age,
• 15:15
  especially
• 15:16
  when
• 15:16
  it
• 15:16
  comes
• 15:16
  to
• 15:16
  design
• 15:17
  and
• 15:17
  all
• 15:17
  the
• 15:17
  other
• 15:17
  things
• 15:17
  that
• 15:18
  bring
• 15:18
  those
• 15:18
  spaces
• 15:19
  to
• 15:19
  life,
• 15:19
  that,
• 15:19
  to
• 15:20
  me
• 15:20
  is
• 15:20
  what's
• 15:20
  exciting.
• 15:20
  I
• 15:21
  mean,
• 15:21
  it
• 15:21
  is
• 15:21
  absolutely
• 15:22
  exponentially
• 15:23
  growing
• 15:24
  and
• 15:25
  is
• 15:25
  outdoor
• 15:25
  living
• 15:26
  right
• 15:26
  now
• 15:26
  is
• 15:26
  right
• 15:26
  on
• 15:27
  par
• 15:27
  with.
• 15:27
  It's
• 15:28
  either
• 15:28
  number
• 15:28
  one,
• 15:29
  two,
• 15:29
  maybe
• 15:29
  three,
• 15:30
  depending
• 15:31
  on
• 15:31
  who's
• 15:31
  doing
• 15:31
  the
• 15:31
  research
• 15:32
  of
• 15:33
  spaces
• 15:33
  people
• 15:33
  want,
• 15:34
  which
• 15:34
  I
• 15:35
  think
• 15:35
  speaks
• 15:35
  volumes
• 15:36
  where
• 15:36
  forever
• 15:37
  it
• 15:37
  was
• 15:37
  kitchens
• 15:37
  and
• 15:38
  used
• 15:38
  to
• 15:38
  be
• 15:38
  rec
• 15:38
  rooms.
• 15:39
  And
• 15:39
  it's
• 15:40
  always
• 15:40
  shifting,
• 15:40
  but
• 15:41
  you
• 15:41
  can
• 15:41
  see
• 15:41
  how
• 15:41
  people
• 15:42
  are
• 15:42
  prioritizing
• 15:43
  it,
• 15:43
  which
• 15:43
  I
• 15:43
  think
• 15:43
  is
• 15:43
  fascinating.
• 15:45
  It
• 15:46
  is.
• 15:46
  And
• 15:46
  I
• 15:46
  think
• 15:47
  people
• 15:47
  get
• 15:47
  out
• 15:47
  there
• 15:48
  and
• 15:48
  they
• 15:48
  go,
• 15:48
  wow,
• 15:48
  I've
• 15:48
  got
• 15:48
  this
• 15:49
  blank
• 15:49
  slate
• 15:49
  of
• 15:49
  a
• 15:50
  house.
• 15:50
  Maybe
• 15:50
  they've
• 15:50
  got
• 15:50
  a.
• 15:51
  A
• 15:51
  builder
• 15:52
  special
• 15:52
  where
• 15:52
  they've
• 15:52
  got
• 15:53
  that
• 15:53
  little
• 15:53
  concrete
• 15:54
  pad
• 15:54
  out
• 15:54
  back
• 15:55
  off
• 15:55
  the
• 15:55
  patio,
• 15:56
  slider
• 15:56
  coming
• 15:56
  off
• 15:57
  the
• 15:57
  dining
• 15:57
  room
• 15:57
  kitchen
• 15:58
  or
• 15:58
  whatever.
• 15:59
  And
• 15:59
  they've
• 15:59
  got
• 15:59
  this
• 15:59
  massive
• 16:00
  dream.
• 16:00
  And
• 16:01
  my
• 16:01
  first
• 16:01
  thing
• 16:01
  I
• 16:01
  tell
• 16:01
  people
• 16:02
  when
• 16:02
  they're
• 16:02
  looking
• 16:03
  at
• 16:03
  this
• 16:03
  is
• 16:04
  I
• 16:04
  think
• 16:04
  the
• 16:04
  biggest
• 16:05
  mistake
• 16:05
  that
• 16:05
  I
• 16:05
  see
• 16:06
  people
• 16:06
  make
• 16:06
  is
• 16:07
  not
• 16:07
  the
• 16:07
  proper
• 16:08
  planning
• 16:08
  or
• 16:08
  bringing
• 16:09
  in
• 16:09
  the
• 16:09
  design
• 16:09
  professionals
• 16:10
  to
• 16:11
  actually
• 16:11
  get
• 16:11
  you
• 16:11
  the
• 16:12
  game
• 16:12
  plan
• 16:13
  before
• 16:13
  you
• 16:13
  get
• 16:13
  started.
• 16:14
  It's
• 16:14
  like
• 16:14
  building
• 16:14
  the
• 16:15
  house
• 16:15
  without
• 16:15
  a
• 16:15
  blueprint.
• 16:16
  If
• 16:16
  you
• 16:16
  don't
• 16:16
  have
• 16:16
  it,
• 16:17
  you're
• 16:17
  going
• 16:17
  to
• 16:17
  be
• 16:17
  in
• 16:17
  trouble.
• 16:18
  Yeah,
• 16:18
  I
• 16:19
  use
• 16:19
  the
• 16:19
  same
• 16:19
  analogy.
• 16:20
  I
• 16:20
  also
• 16:20
  use
• 16:20
  the
• 16:21
  car
• 16:21
  analogy.
• 16:21
  I
• 16:21
  said,
• 16:21
  can
• 16:22
  you
• 16:22
  imagine
• 16:22
  if
• 16:22
  you.
• 16:22
  You
• 16:23
  wanted
• 16:23
  to
• 16:23
  go
• 16:23
  buy
• 16:23
  a
• 16:23
  car,
• 16:24
  but
• 16:24
  you
• 16:24
  had
• 16:24
  to
• 16:24
  just.
• 16:25
  You
• 16:25
  show
• 16:25
  up
• 16:25
  and
• 16:26
  ask
• 16:26
  a
• 16:26
  mechanic
• 16:27
  to
• 16:27
  put
• 16:27
  a
• 16:27
  bunch
• 16:27
  of
• 16:27
  pieces
• 16:28
  together
• 16:28
  and
• 16:28
  make
• 16:28
  something.
• 16:29
  I
• 16:29
  said
• 16:29
  that
• 16:30
  that's
• 16:30
  basically
• 16:30
  what
• 16:30
  happens
• 16:31
  a
• 16:31
  lot.
• 16:32
  And
• 16:32
  people
• 16:33
  are
• 16:33
  like,
• 16:33
  yeah,
• 16:33
  it's
• 16:33
  expensive.
• 16:34
  You're
• 16:34
  going
• 16:34
  to
• 16:35
  recoup
• 16:35
  that
• 16:35
  10
• 16:36
  times
• 16:36
  over.
• 16:36
  If
• 16:36
  you're
• 16:36
  doing
• 16:37
  a
• 16:37
  larger
• 16:37
  project
• 16:38
  to
• 16:38
  get
• 16:38
  a
• 16:38
  quality
• 16:39
  Design,
• 16:39
  make
• 16:39
  sure
• 16:40
  you
• 16:40
  plan
• 16:40
  all
• 16:40
  those
• 16:40
  things.
• 16:41
  And
• 16:41
  there,
• 16:42
  there's
• 16:42
  a
• 16:42
  lot
• 16:42
  of
• 16:43
  insights
• 16:43
  that
• 16:44
  the
• 16:44
  designers
• 16:44
  have,
• 16:45
  right.
• 16:45
  That
• 16:45
  they're
• 16:46
  seeing
• 16:46
  more
• 16:46
  projects,
• 16:46
  they're
• 16:47
  pulling
• 16:47
  data
• 16:47
  from
• 16:47
  wherever
• 16:48
  that
• 16:48
  you
• 16:48
  don't
• 16:49
  always
• 16:49
  get.
• 16:49
  I
• 16:49
  absolutely
• 16:50
  always
• 16:51
  say
• 16:51
  you
• 16:51
  should
• 16:51
  invest
• 16:52
  on
• 16:52
  that
• 16:52
  front
• 16:52
  end.
• 16:53
  And
• 16:53
  even
• 16:53
  if
• 16:53
  I
• 16:54
  tell
• 16:54
  contractors
• 16:54
  you
• 16:54
  might
• 16:55
  be
• 16:55
  the
• 16:55
  best
• 16:55
  installer
• 16:55
  in
• 16:56
  the
• 16:56
  world,
• 16:56
  but
• 16:56
  a
• 16:57
  poorly
• 16:57
  designed
• 16:58
  project
• 16:58
  will
• 16:58
  still
• 16:58
  be
• 16:58
  a
• 16:59
  poorly
• 16:59
  designed
• 16:59
  project.
• 17:00
  And
• 17:01
  no
• 17:01
  matter
• 17:01
  how
• 17:01
  good
• 17:01
  you
• 17:02
  install,
• 17:02
  it
• 17:02
  just
• 17:03
  is.
• 17:03
  Oh
• 17:03
  yeah.
• 17:03
  And
• 17:04
  there's
• 17:04
  nothing
• 17:05
  more
• 17:05
  frustrating
• 17:06
  for
• 17:06
  the
• 17:06
  end
• 17:06
  user
• 17:07
  homeowner
• 17:07
  or
• 17:07
  whoever
• 17:08
  else
• 17:09
  that
• 17:09
  now
• 17:09
  has
• 17:09
  to
• 17:09
  tear
• 17:10
  up
• 17:10
  part
• 17:10
  of
• 17:10
  their
• 17:10
  paver
• 17:11
  patio,
• 17:12
  take
• 17:12
  apart
• 17:12
  part
• 17:13
  of
• 17:13
  their
• 17:13
  deck
• 17:14
  and
• 17:14
  bring
• 17:14
  heavy
• 17:15
  equipment
• 17:15
  into
• 17:15
  the
• 17:15
  finished
• 17:16
  backyard
• 17:17
  because
• 17:17
  they
• 17:18
  want
• 17:18
  to
• 17:18
  put
• 17:18
  gas
• 17:18
  for
• 17:18
  the
• 17:19
  fire
• 17:19
  pit.
• 17:20
  I
• 17:20
  actually
• 17:20
  just
• 17:20
  ran
• 17:21
  into
• 17:21
  this
• 17:21
  problem
• 17:21
  today.
• 17:21
  I
• 17:22
  still,
• 17:22
  I
• 17:22
  get
• 17:22
  pulled
• 17:23
  into
• 17:23
  lots
• 17:23
  of
• 17:23
  projects
• 17:24
  as
• 17:24
  you'd
• 17:24
  imagine
• 17:24
  with
• 17:25
  my
• 17:25
  background,
• 17:25
  but
• 17:25
  same
• 17:26
  thing,
• 17:26
  right.
• 17:26
  It's
• 17:26
  just
• 17:27
  a
• 17:27
  lot
• 17:27
  of
• 17:27
  times
• 17:27
  too
• 17:27
  people
• 17:28
  don't
• 17:28
  have
• 17:28
  the
• 17:28
  budget.
• 17:29
  So
• 17:29
  they
• 17:29
  don't.
• 17:29
  They
• 17:30
  like,
• 17:30
  I'm
• 17:30
  just
• 17:30
  going
• 17:30
  to
• 17:30
  do
• 17:30
  this,
• 17:31
  I'm
• 17:31
  just
• 17:31
  going
• 17:31
  to
• 17:31
  do
• 17:31
  the
• 17:31
  pool
• 17:32
  for
• 17:32
  now
• 17:32
  and
• 17:32
  do
• 17:32
  this
• 17:32
  later.
• 17:33
  If
• 17:33
  you
• 17:33
  don't
• 17:34
  plan
• 17:34
  for
• 17:34
  it
• 17:34
  all
• 17:34
  out
• 17:34
  of
• 17:34
  the
• 17:34
  beginning,
• 17:35
  it
• 17:35
  just,
• 17:35
  it's
• 17:35
  going
• 17:35
  to
• 17:35
  cost
• 17:36
  you
• 17:36
  way
• 17:36
  more
• 17:36
  over
• 17:36
  the
• 17:36
  long
• 17:37
  term
• 17:37
  because
• 17:37
  you
• 17:37
  did
• 17:38
  for
• 17:38
  that
• 17:38
  exact
• 17:39
  reason.
• 17:39
  Right.
• 17:39
  Where
• 17:40
  you're
• 17:40
  not
• 17:40
  thinking
• 17:41
  about
• 17:41
  utilities
• 17:41
  or
• 17:42
  foundations
• 17:42
  or
• 17:42
  access
• 17:43
  or
• 17:43
  all
• 17:43
  the
• 17:43
  above
• 17:44
  and
• 17:44
  you
• 17:44
  just
• 17:44
  made
• 17:45
  everything
• 17:45
  way
• 17:45
  more
• 17:46
  complicated
• 17:46
  for
• 17:47
  the
• 17:47
  next
• 17:47
  guy
• 17:47
  that's
• 17:47
  showing
• 17:48
  up.
• 17:48
  Think
• 17:48
  about
• 17:48
  all
• 17:48
  the
• 17:49
  electrical
• 17:49
  you
• 17:49
  have
• 17:49
  to
• 17:49
  put
• 17:49
  in
• 17:50
  back
• 17:50
  there
• 17:50
  with
• 17:50
  dedicated
• 17:51
  circuits.
• 17:51
  And
• 17:52
  if
• 17:52
  you're
• 17:52
  putting
• 17:52
  a
• 17:53
  pool,
• 17:53
  that's
• 17:53
  one
• 17:53
  thing,
• 17:54
  if
• 17:54
  you
• 17:54
  got
• 17:54
  a
• 17:54
  hot
• 17:54
  tub,
• 17:54
  another.
• 17:55
  But
• 17:55
  you
• 17:56
  can
• 17:56
  have
• 17:56
  three
• 17:56
  or
• 17:56
  four
• 17:57
  circuits
• 17:57
  in
• 17:57
  an
• 17:57
  outdoor
• 17:58
  living
• 17:58
  space
• 17:58
  out
• 17:58
  there
• 17:59
  if
• 17:59
  you're
• 17:59
  not
• 17:59
  careful.
• 17:59
  By
• 17:59
  the
• 18:00
  time
• 18:00
  you
• 18:00
  put
• 18:00
  appliances
• 18:01
  and
• 18:01
  everything
• 18:01
  else
• 18:01
  in.
• 18:02
  Oh
• 18:02
  yeah,
• 18:02
  you
• 18:02
  need
• 18:02
  to,
• 18:02
  that
• 18:03
  should
• 18:03
  be
• 18:03
  your
• 18:03
  first
• 18:03
  step
• 18:03
  is
• 18:04
  planning
• 18:04
  where
• 18:04
  that
• 18:04
  stuff
• 18:05
  goes.
• 18:06
  That
• 18:06
  way
• 18:06
  you've
• 18:07
  got
• 18:07
  it
• 18:07
  torn
• 18:07
  apart
• 18:07
  once
• 18:08
  and
• 18:09
  you
• 18:09
  can
• 18:09
  build
• 18:09
  from
• 18:09
  there.
• 18:10
  Yeah.
• 18:10
  And
• 18:10
  you
• 18:11
  can
• 18:11
  do
• 18:11
  things
• 18:11
  like
• 18:11
  you
• 18:11
  said,
• 18:12
  where
• 18:12
  you
• 18:12
  maybe
• 18:12
  stub
• 18:13
  a
• 18:13
  gas
• 18:13
  line
• 18:13
  in
• 18:13
  or
• 18:13
  maybe
• 18:14
  you
• 18:14
  put
• 18:14
  in
• 18:14
  a
• 18:14
  foundation
• 18:15
  for
• 18:15
  a
• 18:15
  kitchen,
• 18:15
  but
• 18:15
  you're
• 18:16
  going
• 18:16
  to
• 18:16
  cover
• 18:16
  it
• 18:16
  with
• 18:16
  a
• 18:17
  planter
• 18:17
  until
• 18:17
  you're
• 18:17
  ready
• 18:18
  to
• 18:18
  build
• 18:18
  it.
• 18:18
  Or
• 18:19
  a
• 18:19
  lot
• 18:19
  of
• 18:19
  ways
• 18:19
  to
• 18:19
  create
• 18:19
  efficiency.
• 18:20
  If
• 18:20
  you
• 18:21
  think
• 18:21
  through
• 18:21
  it
• 18:21
  on
• 18:21
  the
• 18:21
  front
• 18:21
  end
• 18:22
  and
• 18:22
  we
• 18:23
  talk
• 18:23
  to
• 18:23
  homeowners
• 18:23
  about
• 18:23
  that
• 18:24
  all
• 18:24
  the
• 18:24
  time,
• 18:24
  that's
• 18:24
  actually
• 18:25
  one
• 18:26
  of
• 18:26
  the
• 18:26
  driving
• 18:26
  forces
• 18:27
  behind
• 18:27
  us
• 18:27
  acquiring
• 18:28
  the
• 18:28
  yards
• 18:28
  end.
• 18:29
  Design
• 18:29
  company
• 18:29
  is
• 18:31
  trying
• 18:31
  to
• 18:31
  get
• 18:31
  in
• 18:31
  on
• 18:31
  the
• 18:32
  front
• 18:32
  end
• 18:32
  of
• 18:32
  it
• 18:32
  just
• 18:32
  to
• 18:33
  alleviate
• 18:33
  some
• 18:33
  of
• 18:33
  that.
• 18:34
  Because
• 18:35
  if
• 18:35
  you
• 18:35
  look
• 18:35
  at
• 18:36
  the
• 18:36
  interest
• 18:36
  in
• 18:36
  out
• 18:36
  There
• 18:37
  living
• 18:37
  for
• 18:37
  us.
• 18:38
  Our
• 18:39
  thought
• 18:39
  is,
• 18:39
  how
• 18:39
  do
• 18:40
  we
• 18:40
  deliver
• 18:40
  the
• 18:41
  product,
• 18:41
  which
• 18:41
  is
• 18:41
  really
• 18:42
  the
• 18:42
  space,
• 18:43
  to
• 18:43
  the
• 18:43
  consumer
• 18:43
  in
• 18:44
  a
• 18:44
  more
• 18:44
  streamlined
• 18:45
  way?
• 18:45
  And
• 18:45
  it
• 18:45
  really
• 18:46
  starts
• 18:46
  with
• 18:46
  design
• 18:47
  and
• 18:48
  obviously
• 18:48
  education
• 18:49
  and
• 18:49
  product.
• 18:49
  All
• 18:49
  those
• 18:50
  things
• 18:50
  come
• 18:50
  together.
• 18:50
  But.
• 18:51
  But
• 18:51
  the
• 18:51
  design
• 18:51
  really
• 18:52
  drives
• 18:52
  all,
• 18:53
  and
• 18:53
  people
• 18:54
  are
• 18:54
  more
• 18:55
  design
• 18:55
  savvy
• 18:56
  than
• 18:56
  they've
• 18:56
  ever
• 18:56
  been.
• 18:57
  So
• 18:57
  got
• 18:58
  to
• 18:58
  make
• 18:58
  sure
• 18:58
  you
• 18:58
  have
• 18:58
  the
• 18:58
  right
• 18:58
  colors
• 18:59
  and
• 18:59
  textures
• 18:59
  and
• 18:59
  patterns
• 19:00
  and
• 19:00
  all
• 19:00
  those
• 19:00
  things
• 19:00
  as
• 19:00
  well.
• 19:01
  But.
• 19:01
  But
• 19:01
  pulling
• 19:01
  it
• 19:02
  all
• 19:02
  together
• 19:02
  is
• 19:02
  a.
• 19:02
  Is
• 19:03
  a
• 19:03
  work
• 19:03
  of
• 19:03
  art.
• 19:03
  That's.
• 19:04
  It's
• 19:04
  like
• 19:05
  the
• 19:05
  difference
• 19:05
  between
• 19:05
  a
• 19:06
  chef
• 19:06
  and
• 19:06
  buying
• 19:06
  the
• 19:07
  ingredients.
• 19:07
  Right.
• 19:08
  Yeah.
• 19:08
  You
• 19:08
  gotta
• 19:08
  have
• 19:09
  a
• 19:09
  great
• 19:09
  recipe,
• 19:09
  otherwise
• 19:10
  the
• 19:10
  meal
• 19:11
  stinks.
• 19:11
  Right.
• 19:12
  That's
• 19:12
  the
• 19:12
  thing.
• 19:12
  And
• 19:13
  yes,
• 19:13
  they're
• 19:13
  more
• 19:14
  design
• 19:14
  savvy.
• 19:16
  However,
• 19:16
  they
• 19:16
  can
• 19:17
  be
• 19:17
  so
• 19:17
  much
• 19:17
  more
• 19:17
  dangerous
• 19:18
  if
• 19:18
  it's
• 19:18
  a
• 19:18
  DIY
• 19:19
  project,
• 19:19
  because
• 19:20
  just
• 19:20
  because
• 19:21
  you've
• 19:21
  got
• 19:21
  12
• 19:22
  things
• 19:22
  that
• 19:22
  look
• 19:22
  good
• 19:22
  in
• 19:22
  your
• 19:23
  Pinterest
• 19:23
  folder
• 19:24
  doesn't
• 19:24
  mean
• 19:25
  this
• 19:25
  is
• 19:25
  all
• 19:25
  going
• 19:25
  to
• 19:25
  work
• 19:25
  together.
• 19:26
  Yeah,
• 19:27
  absolutely.
• 19:28
  Yep.
• 19:29
  It's
• 19:30
  tough.
• 19:30
  It's
• 19:30
  tough.
• 19:31
  And
• 19:31
  then
• 19:31
  what
• 19:31
  happens
• 19:31
  is
• 19:32
  the
• 19:32
  project
• 19:32
  gets
• 19:32
  going,
• 19:33
  they
• 19:33
  get
• 19:33
  halfway
• 19:34
  done,
• 19:35
  they
• 19:35
  realize
• 19:35
  they're
• 19:36
  in
• 19:36
  over
• 19:36
  their
• 19:36
  head,
• 19:36
  and
• 19:36
  maybe
• 19:37
  they
• 19:37
  even
• 19:37
  hired
• 19:37
  the
• 19:37
  wrong
• 19:38
  landscape
• 19:39
  contractor
• 19:40
  to
• 19:40
  come
• 19:40
  work
• 19:40
  on
• 19:40
  it.
• 19:41
  And
• 19:41
  then
• 19:42
  somebody
• 19:42
  has
• 19:42
  to
• 19:42
  come
• 19:43
  in,
• 19:43
  design
• 19:44
  it,
• 19:45
  fix
• 19:45
  it,
• 19:45
  put
• 19:45
  it
• 19:45
  back
• 19:46
  together,
• 19:47
  and
• 19:47
  it's
• 19:47
  never
• 19:47
  less
• 19:48
  money.
• 19:49
  Yeah,
• 19:49
  and
• 19:50
  it's
• 19:50
  tough,
• 19:50
  too,
• 19:50
  because
• 19:51
  unlike
• 19:52
  I
• 19:52
  would
• 19:52
  say,
• 19:53
  building
• 19:53
  a
• 19:53
  home
• 19:54
  where
• 19:54
  people
• 19:54
  are
• 19:54
  used
• 19:54
  to
• 19:55
  that
• 19:55
  and
• 19:55
  there's
• 19:55
  a
• 19:55
  pretty,
• 19:56
  pretty
• 19:56
  consistent
• 19:57
  process
• 19:57
  out
• 19:58
  there,
• 19:58
  living
• 19:58
  in
• 19:58
  many
• 19:58
  markets
• 19:59
  is
• 19:59
  still,
• 20:00
  I
• 20:00
  would
• 20:00
  say,
• 20:01
  somewhat
• 20:01
  unregulated,
• 20:02
  and
• 20:03
  there
• 20:03
  are
• 20:03
  very
• 20:04
  few
• 20:05
  what
• 20:05
  I
• 20:05
  would
• 20:05
  call
• 20:05
  outdoor
• 20:06
  living,
• 20:06
  general
• 20:06
  contractors.
• 20:08
  So
• 20:08
  even
• 20:08
  though
• 20:08
  you
• 20:08
  might
• 20:08
  have
• 20:09
  designers,
• 20:09
  a
• 20:10
  big
• 20:10
  challenge
• 20:10
  for
• 20:10
  us
• 20:11
  is
• 20:11
  also
• 20:11
  finding
• 20:12
  ways
• 20:13
  to
• 20:13
  streamline
• 20:13
  it
• 20:13
  where,
• 20:14
  you
• 20:14
  know,
• 20:14
  as
• 20:14
  you
• 20:15
  might
• 20:15
  have
• 20:15
  10
• 20:15
  GCs
• 20:16
  on
• 20:16
  a.
• 20:16
  Or
• 20:16
  10
• 20:17
  subcontractors
• 20:18
  on
• 20:18
  a
• 20:18
  project,
• 20:19
  plumber,
• 20:20
  electrician,
• 20:20
  mason,
• 20:21
  pool
• 20:21
  guy,
• 20:21
  all
• 20:22
  those
• 20:22
  different
• 20:23
  facets
• 20:23
  of
• 20:23
  the
• 20:24
  trades,
• 20:25
  and
• 20:25
  they
• 20:25
  all
• 20:25
  have
• 20:25
  to
• 20:25
  be
• 20:25
  coordinated.
• 20:26
  You
• 20:26
  got
• 20:26
  to
• 20:27
  make
• 20:27
  sure
• 20:27
  it
• 20:27
  all
• 20:27
  works
• 20:27
  together
• 20:28
  so
• 20:28
  that.
• 20:28
  That
• 20:28
  part's
• 20:29
  a
• 20:29
  little
• 20:29
  bit
• 20:29
  of
• 20:29
  a
• 20:29
  challenge.
• 20:30
  And
• 20:30
  again,
• 20:30
  we've
• 20:30
  got
• 20:30
  tools
• 20:31
  we're
• 20:31
  trying
• 20:31
  to
• 20:31
  help
• 20:31
  with
• 20:32
  on
• 20:32
  that.
• 20:32
  Design's
• 20:33
  a
• 20:33
  big
• 20:33
  piece
• 20:33
  of
• 20:33
  that.
• 20:34
  But
• 20:34
  for
• 20:35
  sure,
• 20:35
  I
• 20:35
  mean,
• 20:35
  they.
• 20:36
  So
• 20:36
  you.
• 20:37
  I
• 20:37
  would
• 20:37
  say
• 20:37
  you
• 20:37
  see
• 20:37
  this
• 20:38
  big
• 20:38
  gap
• 20:38
  where
• 20:38
  people.
• 20:39
  There's
• 20:40
  an
• 20:40
  expectation
• 20:40
  where
• 20:41
  they
• 20:41
  want
• 20:41
  these
• 20:41
  spaces,
• 20:42
  but
• 20:42
  they
• 20:43
  aren't
• 20:43
  easy
• 20:43
  to
• 20:44
  get.
• 20:44
  They're
• 20:44
  complex.
• 20:45
  There's
• 20:45
  a
• 20:45
  lot
• 20:45
  of
• 20:45
  choices
• 20:46
  that
• 20:46
  need
• 20:46
  to
• 20:46
  be
• 20:46
  made
• 20:47
  with
• 20:47
  materials
• 20:47
  and
• 20:47
  all
• 20:48
  the
• 20:48
  above.
• 20:48
  And
• 20:48
  so
• 20:49
  I
• 20:49
  can't
• 20:49
  stress
• 20:49
  enough,
• 20:49
  as
• 20:50
  you
• 20:50
  said,
• 20:50
  planning
• 20:50
  and
• 20:51
  design
• 20:51
  is
• 20:51
  absolutely
• 20:52
  critical
• 20:52
  to
• 20:53
  getting
• 20:53
  that
• 20:53
  put
• 20:54
  together
• 20:55
  around
• 20:55
  the
• 20:55
  house.
• 20:56
  We'll
• 20:56
  be
• 20:56
  right
• 20:56
  Back
• 20:57

  Let's

  that

• 21:07
  keeps

  us

  breathing.

  between

  Eric

• 22:57
  Let's
• 22:58
  get
• 22:58
  back
• 22:58
  to
• 22:58
  the
• 22:58

• 22:59
  No
• 23:00
  question.
• 23:00
  And
• 23:00
  I
• 23:01
  think
• 23:01
  one
• 23:01
  of
• 23:01
  the
• 23:01
  biggest
• 23:01
  things
• 23:01
  that
• 23:02
  people
• 23:02
  miss
• 23:02
  as
• 23:02
  well
• 23:02
  out
• 23:03
  there
• 23:03
  when
• 23:03
  the
• 23:03
  project's
• 23:04
  all
• 23:04
  said
• 23:04
  and
• 23:04
  done
• 23:05
  is
• 23:05
  don't
• 23:06
  forget
• 23:06
  the
• 23:06
  lighting.
• 23:07
  The
• 23:07
  lighting
• 23:08
  can
• 23:08
  take
• 23:08
  that
• 23:08
  project
• 23:09
  and
• 23:09
  put
• 23:09
  a
• 23:09
  10x
• 23:10
  on
• 23:10
  the
• 23:10
  end
• 23:10
  of
• 23:10
  it.
• 23:11
  As
• 23:11
  far
• 23:11
  as
• 23:11
  how
• 23:11
  it
• 23:12
  looks
• 23:12
  in
• 23:12
  the
• 23:12
  evening
• 23:13
  and
• 23:13
  how
• 23:13
  you
• 23:14
  use
• 23:14
  it
• 23:14
  as
• 23:14
  well.
• 23:15
  Yeah,
• 23:16
  no,
• 23:16
  for
• 23:16
  sure.
• 23:16
  And
• 23:17
  we.
• 23:17
  I
• 23:17
  hear
• 23:17
  this
• 23:17
  often,
• 23:18
  right.
• 23:18
  We
• 23:18
  don't
• 23:19
  do
• 23:19
  lighting.
• 23:19
  It's.
• 23:19
  Oh,
• 23:19
  man,
• 23:20
  it.
• 23:20
  The
• 23:21
  homeowner
• 23:21
  may
• 23:21
  not
• 23:21
  even
• 23:22
  think
• 23:22
  about
• 23:22
  it
• 23:22
  because
• 23:22
  they're
• 23:22
  like,
• 23:22
  oh,
• 23:23
  I
• 23:23
  have
• 23:23
  a
• 23:23
  porch
• 23:23
  light.
• 23:24
  And
• 23:24
  then
• 23:24
  they
• 23:24
  realize
• 23:24
  it's
• 23:25
  like
• 23:25
  a
• 23:25
  spotlight
• 23:25
  when
• 23:25
  they're
• 23:26
  sitting
• 23:26
  out
• 23:26
  there.
• 23:26
  And
• 23:27
  to
• 23:27
  retrofit
• 23:27
  any
• 23:28
  those
• 23:28
  spaces,
• 23:28
  that's
• 23:29
  an
• 23:29
  absolute
• 23:29
  nightmare.
• 23:30
  If
• 23:30
  you're
• 23:30
  not
• 23:30
  offering
• 23:31
  lighting
• 23:31
  as
• 23:31
  part
• 23:31
  of
• 23:31
  this,
• 23:32
  man,
• 23:32
  you're
• 23:32
  doing
• 23:32
  your
• 23:32
  customer
• 23:33
  a
• 23:33
  disservice
• 23:33
  for
• 23:34
  sure.
• 23:35
  Saying,
• 23:35
  I
• 23:35
  have
• 23:35
  an
• 23:35
  outlet
• 23:36
  on
• 23:36
  the
• 23:36
  back
• 23:36
  of
• 23:36
  the
• 23:36
  house
• 23:37
  by
• 23:37
  the
• 23:37
  faucet,
• 23:38
  so
• 23:38
  I'm
• 23:38
  good
• 23:38
  on
• 23:39
  the
• 23:39
  power.
• 23:39
  Yeah,
• 23:40
  exactly.
• 23:40
  No
• 23:41
  one's
• 23:41
  putting.
• 23:41
  No
• 23:42
  one's
• 23:42
  putting
• 23:42
  power
• 23:42
  strips
• 23:43
  outside
• 23:43
  to
• 23:43
  run
• 23:44
  their
• 23:44
  outdoor
• 23:45
  living.
• 23:45
  You
• 23:45
  have
• 23:45
  to
• 23:45
  deal
• 23:45
  with
• 23:46
  it
• 23:46
  all
• 23:46
  at
• 23:46
  once.
• 23:47
  And
• 23:47
  again,
• 23:47
  it's
• 23:48
  so
• 23:48
  easy
• 23:48
  to
• 23:48
  run
• 23:49
  cable
• 23:49
  when
• 23:49
  the
• 23:49
  landscapers
• 23:50
  are
• 23:50
  out
• 23:50
  there
• 23:50
  working
• 23:51
  on
• 23:51
  stuff
• 23:52
  before
• 23:52
  they
• 23:52
  have
• 23:53
  all
• 23:53
  the
• 23:53
  stuff
• 23:53
  in.
• 23:53
  So
• 23:54
  you're
• 23:54
  not
• 23:54
  digging
• 23:54
  stuff
• 23:55
  up,
• 23:55
  tunneling
• 23:55
  under,
• 23:56
  edging,
• 23:56
  whatever
• 23:56
  you're
• 23:56
  doing.
• 23:57
  Yeah,
• 23:57
  just
• 23:58
  do
• 23:58
  it
• 23:58
  on
• 23:58
  the
• 23:58
  front
• 23:58
  end
• 23:59
  as
• 23:59
  part
• 23:59
  of
• 23:59
  the
• 23:59
  plan.
• 23:59
  And
• 24:00
  it's
• 24:00
  so
• 24:00
  much
• 24:01
  easier
• 24:01
  to.
• 24:02
  Than
• 24:02
  to
• 24:02
  make
• 24:02
  it
• 24:02
  a
• 24:02
  weekend
• 24:03
  project
• 24:03
  or
• 24:03
  having
• 24:03
  a
• 24:04
  professional
• 24:04
  out
• 24:04
  for
• 24:04
  a
• 24:05
  week
• 24:05
  doing
• 24:05
  it
• 24:05
  when
• 24:06
  you're
• 24:06
  trying
• 24:06
  to
• 24:06
  get
• 24:06
  it
• 24:06
  done
• 24:06
  correctly.
• 24:07
  Yeah.
• 24:08
  And
• 24:08
  I
• 24:08
  think
• 24:08
  the
• 24:08
  other
• 24:08
  thing
• 24:09
  I
• 24:09
  like
• 24:09
  to
• 24:09
  talk
• 24:09
  to
• 24:10
  designers
• 24:10
  about
• 24:11
  or
• 24:11
  contractors
• 24:12
  as
• 24:12
  well
• 24:12
  is
• 24:12
  like,
• 24:12
  you
• 24:13
  really,
• 24:13
  you
• 24:13
  need
• 24:13
  to
• 24:13
  do
• 24:14
  a
• 24:14
  lot
• 24:14
  more
• 24:14
  on
• 24:14
  the
• 24:14
  front
• 24:15
  end
• 24:15
  with.
• 24:15
  With
• 24:15
  asking
• 24:16
  questions.
• 24:16
  Right.
• 24:17
  Things
• 24:17
  like
• 24:18
  what
• 24:18
  how
• 24:18
  many
• 24:18
  people
• 24:19
  will
• 24:19
  use
• 24:19
  in
• 24:19
  this
• 24:19
  space?
• 24:19
  How
• 24:20
  often
• 24:20
  do
• 24:20
  you
• 24:20
  use
• 24:20
  it?
• 24:20
  What
• 24:20
  are
• 24:21
  you
• 24:21
  going
• 24:21
  to
• 24:21
  use?
• 24:21
  What
• 24:21
  are
• 24:21
  you
• 24:21
  trying
• 24:21
  to
• 24:22
  accomplish
• 24:22
  with
• 24:22
  the
• 24:22
  space?
• 24:23
  And
• 24:23
  then
• 24:24
  even
• 24:24
  dig
• 24:24
  into
• 24:24
  what
• 24:25
  type
• 24:25
  of
• 24:25
  furniture
• 24:25
  are
• 24:25
  you
• 24:26
  envisioning?
• 24:26
  Like,
• 24:26
  people
• 24:27
  might
• 24:27
  be
• 24:27
  thinking,
• 24:27
  I
• 24:27
  want
• 24:27
  a
• 24:28
  big,
• 24:28
  deep
• 24:28
  seating
• 24:29
  sectional
• 24:29
  and
• 24:30
  I
• 24:30
  want
• 24:30
  a
• 24:30
  farm
• 24:30
  table
• 24:30
  that
• 24:31
  seats
• 24:31
  12.
• 24:31
  And
• 24:32
  yeah,
• 24:32
  you
• 24:32
  go
• 24:33
  through
• 24:33
  the
• 24:33
  whole
• 24:33
  thing
• 24:33
  and
• 24:33
  then
• 24:33
  you
• 24:33
  design.
• 24:34
  Someone
• 24:34
  designs
• 24:34
  and
• 24:34
  they
• 24:35
  can
• 24:35
  only
• 24:35
  put
• 24:35
  a
• 24:35
  bistro
• 24:35
  table
• 24:36
  there.
• 24:36
  I've
• 24:36
  seen
• 24:36
  this
• 24:36
  happen
• 24:37
  so
• 24:37
  many
• 24:37
  times.
• 24:38
  So
• 24:38
  you
• 24:38
  have
• 24:38
  to
• 24:38
  understand
• 24:39
  what
• 24:39
  they're
• 24:40
  thinking
• 24:40
  or
• 24:40
  at
• 24:40
  least
• 24:41
  ask
• 24:41
  the
• 24:41
  question.
• 24:41
  And
• 24:42
  they,
• 24:42
  if
• 24:42
  they
• 24:42
  don't
• 24:42
  know,
• 24:43
  dig
• 24:43
  into
• 24:43
  it
• 24:44
  a
• 24:44
  little
• 24:44
  bit
• 24:44
  because
• 24:44
  it'll
• 24:45
  ultimately
• 24:45
  drive
• 24:45
  what
• 24:46
  that
• 24:46
  project
• 24:46
  will
• 24:46
  look
• 24:47
  like
• 24:47
  and
• 24:47
  how
• 24:47
  it'll
• 24:47
  be
• 24:47
  sized
• 24:48
  and
• 24:48
  shaped
• 24:48
  and
• 24:48
  all
• 24:49
  that.
• 24:49
  But
• 24:50
  you're
• 24:51
  so
• 24:51
  right
• 24:51
  because
• 24:51
  foundationally
• 24:52
  there's
• 24:52
  a
• 24:53
  post
• 24:53
  coming
• 24:53
  off
• 24:53
  that
• 24:54
  cover,
• 24:54
  right?
• 24:54
  That's
• 24:54
  right.
• 24:55
  Where
• 24:55
  somebody
• 24:55
  wants
• 24:55
  to
• 24:55
  put
• 24:56
  that
• 24:56
  L
• 24:56
  shape
• 24:57
  exterior
• 24:57
  sectional
• 24:58
  couch
• 24:59
  because
• 24:59
  they
• 24:59
  didn't
• 25:00
  think
• 25:00
  about
• 25:00
  which
• 25:00
  way
• 25:00
  that
• 25:01
  was
• 25:01
  going
• 25:01
  to
• 25:01
  face
• 25:02
  and
• 25:03
  now
• 25:03
  they're
• 25:03
  in
• 25:03
  trouble
• 25:04
  because
• 25:04
  it's
• 25:04
  broken
• 25:05
  up
• 25:05
  and
• 25:05
  they
• 25:05
  got
• 25:05
  to
• 25:05
  come
• 25:05
  up
• 25:05
  with
• 25:06
  a
• 25:06
  different
• 25:06
  furniture
• 25:07
  choice.
• 25:07
  Yeah,
• 25:07
  no,
• 25:08
  absolutely.
• 25:09
  Yeah.
• 25:10
  That
• 25:10
  is
• 25:10
  cool.
• 25:11
  Lots
• 25:11
  to
• 25:11
  consider.
• 25:12
  There
• 25:13
  is.
• 25:13
  And
• 25:13
  what
• 25:13
  are
• 25:14
  you
• 25:14
  seeing
• 25:14
  in
• 25:14
  trends
• 25:14
  right
• 25:15
  now,
• 25:15
  Joe?
• 25:15
  There's
• 25:16
  so
• 25:16
  many
• 25:16
  things
• 25:16
  that
• 25:16
  are
• 25:16
  happening
• 25:17
  and
• 25:17
  so
• 25:17
  many
• 25:17
  things
• 25:17
  firing
• 25:18
  off.
• 25:18
  If
• 25:18
  you
• 25:18
  were
• 25:19
  going
• 25:19
  to
• 25:19
  say
• 25:19
  for
• 25:19
  2025,
• 25:20
  what
• 25:21
  are
• 25:21
  you
• 25:21
  seeing
• 25:21
  out
• 25:21
  there
• 25:22
  as
• 25:22
  far
• 25:22
  as
• 25:22
  the
• 25:22
  expansion
• 25:23
  of
• 25:23
  this
• 25:23
  and
• 25:23
  all
• 25:24
  the
• 25:24
  beauty
• 25:24
  that's
• 25:24
  happening
• 25:24
  in
• 25:25
  the
• 25:25
  backyard
• 25:25
  or
• 25:25
  even
• 25:26
  front
• 25:26
  yard
• 25:26
  space?
• 25:27
  Yeah,
• 25:27
  that's
• 25:28
  a
• 25:28
  great
• 25:28
  question.
• 25:28
  I
• 25:29
  something
• 25:29
  that
• 25:29
  we
• 25:29
  study
• 25:29
  a
• 25:30
  lot
• 25:30
  and
• 25:30
  I
• 25:30
  try
• 25:31
  to
• 25:31
  connect
• 25:31
  with.
• 25:31
  And
• 25:32
  I
• 25:32
  think
• 25:32
  I'll
• 25:33
  go
• 25:33
  back
• 25:33
  to
• 25:33
  the
• 25:33
  beginning
• 25:34
  with
• 25:34
  the
• 25:34
  wellness
• 25:35
  trend.
• 25:35
  I
• 25:35
  think
• 25:36
  I
• 25:36
  would
• 25:36
  say
• 25:36
  this
• 25:36
  is
• 25:37
  a
• 25:37
  long
• 25:37
  term
• 25:38
  macro
• 25:38
  trend
• 25:39
  where
• 25:40
  again,
• 25:40
  people
• 25:40
  are
• 25:40
  realizing
• 25:41
  that
• 25:41
  these
• 25:41
  are
• 25:41
  important
• 25:42
  spaces
• 25:43
  and
• 25:43
  they're
• 25:43
  thinking
• 25:43
  about
• 25:43
  them
• 25:44
  differently.
• 25:44
  And
• 25:45
  really
• 25:45
  what
• 25:45
  that
• 25:45
  leads
• 25:46
  to
• 25:47
  is
• 25:47
  if
• 25:47
  I
• 25:47
  think
• 25:48
  about
• 25:48
  this
• 25:48
  space
• 25:48
  as
• 25:49
  something
• 25:49
  that
• 25:49
  I
• 25:49
  use
• 25:49
  on
• 25:50
  a
• 25:50
  daily
• 25:50
  basis
• 25:50
  and
• 25:50
  I'm
• 25:51
  hoping
• 25:51
  to
• 25:51
  achieve
• 25:52
  a
• 25:52
  better
• 25:53
  quality
• 25:53
  of
• 25:53
  life
• 25:53
  and
• 25:54
  overall
• 25:54
  health
• 25:55
  and
• 25:55
  better
• 25:55
  health
• 25:55
  and
• 25:55
  well
• 25:56
  being
• 25:56
  and
• 25:57
  also
• 25:57
  function.
• 25:58
  It's
• 25:58
  radically
• 25:59
  different
• 25:59
  than
• 25:59
  thinking
• 25:59
  about,
• 26:00
  I
• 26:00
  need
• 26:00
  a
• 26:01
  place
• 26:01
  that
• 26:01
  I
• 26:01
  can
• 26:01
  party
• 26:01
  and
• 26:02
  entertain
• 26:02
  six
• 26:02
  times
• 26:03
  in
• 26:03
  the
• 26:03
  summer.
• 26:03
  Totally
• 26:04
  different
• 26:04
  value
• 26:04
  proposition.
• 26:05
  So
• 26:06
  some
• 26:06
  of
• 26:06
  the
• 26:06
  things,
• 26:07
  the
• 26:07
  trends
• 26:07
  that
• 26:08
  come
• 26:08
  off
• 26:08
  of
• 26:08
  that
• 26:08
  I
• 26:09
  would
• 26:09
  say
• 26:09
  all
• 26:09
  these
• 26:10
  are
• 26:10
  interconnected
• 26:11
  to
• 26:11
  some
• 26:11
  degree
• 26:11
  is
• 26:12
  when
• 26:12
  you
• 26:13
  think
• 26:13
  about
• 26:13
  some
• 26:13
  of
• 26:13
  the
• 26:14
  fundamental
• 26:14
  principles
• 26:15
  of
• 26:15
  biophilic
• 26:16
  design.
• 26:16
  Well,
• 26:17
  number
• 26:18
  one
• 26:18
  would
• 26:18
  probably
• 26:18
  be
• 26:18
  really
• 26:19
  that
• 26:19
  connection
• 26:20
  physically
• 26:20
  and
• 26:20
  visually
• 26:21
  to
• 26:21
  the
• 26:21
  exterior.
• 26:22
  You
• 26:22
  mentioned
• 26:22
  before
• 26:22
  where
• 26:22
  someone
• 26:23
  had
• 26:23
  a
• 26:23
  patio
• 26:24
  door
• 26:24
  or
• 26:25
  a
• 26:25
  window.
• 26:25
  Right.
• 26:26
  And
• 26:26
  so
• 26:26
  thinking
• 26:26
  about,
• 26:27
  like,
• 26:27
  how
• 26:27
  do
• 26:27
  we
• 26:27
  create
• 26:28
  a
• 26:28
  space
• 26:28
  that
• 26:29
  helps
• 26:29
  draw
• 26:29
  people
• 26:30
  out
• 26:30
  visually?
• 26:30
  So
• 26:31
  it
• 26:31
  might
• 26:31
  be
• 26:31
  where
• 26:31
  you
• 26:31
  position
• 26:32
  a
• 26:32
  fireplace
• 26:32
  or
• 26:33
  a
• 26:33
  water
• 26:33
  feature
• 26:34
  or
• 26:34
  a
• 26:34
  pool
• 26:35
  and
• 26:35
  how
• 26:35
  it's
• 26:36
  viewed
• 26:36
  from
• 26:36
  the
• 26:36
  inside,
• 26:37
  but
• 26:37
  then
• 26:37
  how
• 26:37
  do
• 26:37
  I
• 26:37
  access
• 26:38
  that
• 26:38
  space
• 26:39
  more
• 26:39
  seamlessly?
• 26:40
  And
• 26:40
  you
• 26:40
  think
• 26:41
  about
• 26:41
  zero
• 26:41
  edge
• 26:42
  transitions,
• 26:43
  even
• 26:43
  nano
• 26:43
  walls,
• 26:44
  large
• 26:44
  French
• 26:45
  doors,
• 26:46
  retractable
• 26:46
  screens,
• 26:47
  or
• 26:47
  even
• 26:48
  pass
• 26:48
  throughs
• 26:48
  where
• 26:48
  you
• 26:49
  have
• 26:49
  an
• 26:49
  indoor
• 26:50
  kitchen
• 26:50
  that
• 26:50
  opens
• 26:51
  up
• 26:51
  a
• 26:51
  window
• 26:51
  and
• 26:52
  all
• 26:52
  of
• 26:52
  a
• 26:52
  sudden
• 26:52
  there's
• 26:52
  someone
• 26:52
  on
• 26:53
  the
• 26:53
  outside
• 26:53
  and
• 26:53
  there's
• 26:53
  a
• 26:54
  bar
• 26:54
  there.
• 26:54
  Right?
• 26:55
  So
• 26:55
  you
• 26:55
  have
• 26:55
  this
• 26:55
  seamless,
• 26:56
  flowing
• 26:56
  transition
• 26:57
  between.
• 26:58
  I
• 26:59
  think
• 26:59
  yes,
• 27:00
  some
• 27:00
  of
• 27:00
  those
• 27:00
  things
• 27:00
  can
• 27:01
  be
• 27:01
  expensive,
• 27:01
  but
• 27:02
  a
• 27:02
  lot
• 27:02
  of
• 27:02
  that
• 27:02
  also
• 27:02
  is
• 27:03
  just
• 27:03
  a
• 27:03
  design
• 27:04
  choice.
• 27:04
  And
• 27:05
  I
• 27:05
  think
• 27:05
  it's
• 27:06
  interesting
• 27:06
  to
• 27:06
  talk
• 27:06
  to
• 27:06
  other
• 27:07
  designers
• 27:07
  on
• 27:07
  the
• 27:07
  inside.
• 27:09
  Oftentimes
• 27:09
  those
• 27:10
  choices,
• 27:10
  again,
• 27:11
  they
• 27:11
  don't
• 27:11
  necessarily
• 27:11
  cost
• 27:12
  any
• 27:12
  more
• 27:12
  money.
• 27:12
  It's
• 27:12
  just
• 27:13
  thinking
• 27:13
  of,
• 27:14
  hey,
• 27:14
  I'm
• 27:14
  going
• 27:14
  to
• 27:14
  build
• 27:14
  an
• 27:14
  indoor
• 27:15
  kitchen.
• 27:15
  Where
• 27:15
  should
• 27:15
  I
• 27:16
  put
• 27:16
  the
• 27:16
  outdoor
• 27:16
  kitchen?
• 27:17
  And
• 27:17
  by
• 27:17
  the
• 27:18
  way,
• 27:18
  this
• 27:18
  homeowner
• 27:18
  is
• 27:18
  very
• 27:19
  interested
• 27:19
  in
• 27:19
  growing
• 27:19
  an
• 27:19
  herb
• 27:20
  garden.
• 27:20
  Or
• 27:20
  maybe
• 27:20
  they
• 27:20
  have
• 27:21
  a
• 27:21
  brick
• 27:21
  oven
• 27:21
  like
• 27:21
  you
• 27:22
  said,
• 27:22
  and,
• 27:22
  or
• 27:23
  like
• 27:23
  to
• 27:23
  grill.
• 27:23
  And
• 27:23
  maybe
• 27:24
  I
• 27:24
  would
• 27:24
  put
• 27:24
  a
• 27:25
  salsa
• 27:25
  garden
• 27:25
  here
• 27:26
  in
• 27:26
  a
• 27:26
  raised
• 27:26
  bed
• 27:26
  or
• 27:26
  a
• 27:27
  vertical
• 27:27
  garden.
• 27:28
  And
• 27:28
  just
• 27:28
  thinking
• 27:29
  about
• 27:29
  it
• 27:29
  in
• 27:29
  a
• 27:29
  much
• 27:30
  more
• 27:30
  holistic
• 27:30
  view,
• 27:31
  from
• 27:31
  a
• 27:31
  holistic
• 27:32
  viewpoint.
• 27:33
  And
• 27:33
  the
• 27:33
  other
• 27:34
  part
• 27:34
  of
• 27:34
  that
• 27:34
  I
• 27:34
  would
• 27:34
  say
• 27:34
  is
• 27:35
  thinking
• 27:35
  through
• 27:36
  what,
• 27:36
  how
• 27:37
  can
• 27:37
  I
• 27:37
  connect
• 27:37
  this
• 27:38
  space
• 27:38
  to.
• 27:38
  Because
• 27:39
  this
• 27:39
  is
• 27:39
  something
• 27:39
  I
• 27:40
  would
• 27:40
  say
• 27:41
  the
• 27:41
  majority
• 27:42
  is
• 27:42
  leaning
• 27:43
  toward
• 27:43
  and
• 27:43
  certainly
• 27:43
  Millennials
• 27:44
  and
• 27:44
  Gen
• 27:44
  Z's
• 27:45
  are,
• 27:45
  is
• 27:46
  how
• 27:46
  do
• 27:46
  I
• 27:47
  make
• 27:47
  a
• 27:47
  bigger
• 27:47
  impact
• 27:48
  or
• 27:48
  less
• 27:49
  of
• 27:49
  an
• 27:49
  impact
• 27:49
  to
• 27:50
  the
• 27:50
  natural
• 27:50
  environment.
• 27:51
  And
• 27:51
  so
• 27:52
  that
• 27:52
  may
• 27:52
  be
• 27:52
  sustainable
• 27:53
  product,
• 27:53
  recycled
• 27:54
  content,
• 27:55
  but
• 27:55
  it
• 27:56
  also
• 27:56
  a
• 27:56
  big
• 27:56
  shift
• 27:57
  is
• 27:57
  thinking
• 27:57
  of
• 27:58
  where
• 27:58
  can
• 27:58
  I
• 27:59
  add
• 27:59
  a
• 27:59
  pollinator
• 27:59
  garden,
• 28:00
  how
• 28:00
  can
• 28:00
  I
• 28:00
  do
• 28:00
  some
• 28:01
  stormwater
• 28:01
  capture,
• 28:02
  how
• 28:02
  can
• 28:03
  I
• 28:03
  improve
• 28:03
  biodiversity
• 28:05
  in
• 28:05
  this
• 28:05
  area?
• 28:05
  Or
• 28:05
  how
• 28:05
  can
• 28:06
  I
• 28:06
  draw
• 28:06
  butterflies
• 28:07
  into
• 28:07
  my
• 28:07
  backyard
• 28:08
  where
• 28:09
  you
• 28:09
  start
• 28:09
  to
• 28:09
  immerse
• 28:10
  all
• 28:10
  the
• 28:10
  senses
• 28:11
  and
• 28:11
  they're
• 28:11
  thinking
• 28:11
  about
• 28:12
  all
• 28:13
  of
• 28:13
  it
• 28:13
  connected,
• 28:14
  right?
• 28:14
  Instead
• 28:14
  of
• 28:15
  again
• 28:15
  going
• 28:15
  back
• 28:16
  to
• 28:16
  what
• 28:16
  it
• 28:16
  used
• 28:16
  to
• 28:16
  be,
• 28:17
  where
• 28:17
  I
• 28:17
  just
• 28:18
  want
• 28:18
  a
• 28:18
  place
• 28:18
  to
• 28:18
  have
• 28:18
  a
• 28:18
  killer
• 28:19
  barbecue
• 28:19
  this
• 28:19
  weekend,
• 28:21
  that's
• 28:22
  a
• 28:22
  big
• 28:22
  part
• 28:22
  of
• 28:22
  it
• 28:22
  too.
• 28:23
  But
• 28:24
  the
• 28:24
  value
• 28:24
  proposition
• 28:25
  is
• 28:25
  way
• 28:26
  different.
• 28:26
  And
• 28:26
  people,
• 28:27
  if
• 28:28
  you're
• 28:28
  going
• 28:28
  to
• 28:28
  use
• 28:28
  a
• 28:28
  space
• 28:29
  every
• 28:29
  day,
• 28:29
  especially
• 28:29
  if
• 28:30
  you're
• 28:30
  in
• 28:30
  a
• 28:30
  pretty,
• 28:30
  a
• 28:31
  nice
• 28:31
  climate
• 28:31
  that's
• 28:32
  fairly
• 28:32
  year
• 28:32
  round,
• 28:33
  you're
• 28:33
  going
• 28:33
  to,
• 28:33
  you're
• 28:33
  willing
• 28:34
  to
• 28:34
  invest
• 28:34
  more
• 28:34
  in
• 28:35
  thinking
• 28:35
  about,
• 28:35
  I'm
• 28:35
  going
• 28:35
  to,
• 28:35
  I'm
• 28:36
  going
• 28:36
  to
• 28:36
  be
• 28:36
  out
• 28:36
  here
• 28:36
  every
• 28:36
  day.
• 28:36
  I
• 28:36
  might
• 28:36
  put
• 28:37
  an
• 28:37
  outdoor
• 28:37
  shower
• 28:37
  and
• 28:37
  I'm
• 28:38
  going
• 28:38
  to
• 28:38
  do
• 28:38
  yoga
• 28:39
  out
• 28:39
  here.
• 28:39
  I'm
• 28:39
  going
• 28:39
  to
• 28:39
  work
• 28:39
  from
• 28:39
  home.
• 28:40
  So
• 28:40
  I
• 28:40
  need
• 28:40
  a
• 28:40
  WI
• 28:41
  fi
• 28:41
  booster,
• 28:42
  I
• 28:42
  need
• 28:42
  some
• 28:42
  shade
• 28:43
  because
• 28:43
  it's
• 28:43
  hot
• 28:43
  right
• 28:44
  here
• 28:44
  and
• 28:44
  I'm
• 28:44
  going
• 28:44
  to
• 28:44
  be
• 28:44
  out
• 28:44
  here
• 28:44
  during
• 28:44
  the
• 28:45
  day.
• 28:45
  All
• 28:46
  those
• 28:46
  things
• 28:46
  start
• 28:46
  to
• 28:47
  change.
• 28:47
  And
• 28:49
  again,
• 28:49
  if
• 28:49
  you're
• 28:49
  not
• 28:50
  thinking
• 28:50
  about
• 28:50
  this
• 28:50
  as
• 28:50
  a
• 28:51
  designer,
• 28:52
  I
• 28:53
  always
• 28:53
  say
• 28:53
  this
• 28:54
  isn't
• 28:54
  about
• 28:54
  manipulation,
• 28:55
  this
• 28:55
  is
• 28:56
  about
• 28:57
  understanding
• 28:57
  your
• 28:57
  client
• 28:58
  and
• 28:58
  giving
• 28:58
  them
• 28:59
  the
• 28:59
  best
• 28:59
  possible
• 29:00
  environment.
• 29:00
  For
• 29:01
  their
• 29:01
  life.
• 29:01
  Right.
• 29:02
  And
• 29:02
  how
• 29:02
  they
• 29:02
  could.
• 29:02
  You
• 29:02
  can
• 29:03
  help
• 29:03
  them
• 29:03
  prove
• 29:03
  their
• 29:03
  life.
• 29:04
  And
• 29:04
  if
• 29:04
  you
• 29:04
  come
• 29:05
  in
• 29:05
  with
• 29:05
  that
• 29:05
  attitude
• 29:06
  and
• 29:07
  you're
• 29:07
  sincere
• 29:07
  about
• 29:08
  it,
• 29:08
  that's
• 29:08
  something
• 29:08
  you
• 29:08
  can't
• 29:09
  fake,
• 29:10
  man.
• 29:10
  I.
• 29:11
  The
• 29:11
  contractors
• 29:11
  who
• 29:11
  are
• 29:12
  embracing
• 29:12
  this,
• 29:12
  designers
• 29:13
  who
• 29:13
  are
• 29:14
  have
• 29:14
  so
• 29:14
  much
• 29:15
  work
• 29:15
  that
• 29:16
  you
• 29:16
  start
• 29:16
  talking
• 29:17
  about,
• 29:17
  hey,
• 29:18
  I
• 29:18
  understand
• 29:18
  you
• 29:18
  asked
• 29:18
  for
• 29:19
  a
• 29:19
  patio.
• 29:19
  I
• 29:20
  want
• 29:20
  to
• 29:20
  talk
• 29:20
  about
• 29:20
  health
• 29:21
  and
• 29:21
  wellness
• 29:21
  and
• 29:21
  what
• 29:22
  you
• 29:22
  hope
• 29:22
  to
• 29:22
  achieve
• 29:22
  with
• 29:22
  this
• 29:23
  space.
• 29:23
  Totally
• 29:24
  different
• 29:24
  conversation.
• 29:25
  The
• 29:25
  homeowners.
• 29:26
  What
• 29:26
  are
• 29:26
  you
• 29:26
  talking
• 29:26
  about?
• 29:26
  I
• 29:27
  asked
• 29:27
  you
• 29:27
  to
• 29:27
  put
• 29:27
  pavers
• 29:27
  in.
• 29:28
  I
• 29:28
  understand
• 29:29
  that
• 29:29
  you
• 29:29
  asked
• 29:29
  me
• 29:29
  that,
• 29:29
  but
• 29:30
  I
• 29:30
  want
• 29:30
  to
• 29:30
  tell
• 29:30
  you
• 29:30
  a
• 29:30
  little
• 29:30
  bit
• 29:30
  about
• 29:31
  what
• 29:31
  we
• 29:31
  know
• 29:32
  about
• 29:32
  the
• 29:32
  importance
• 29:33
  of
• 29:33
  being
• 29:33
  outside
• 29:33
  and
• 29:34
  how
• 29:34
  this
• 29:34
  space
• 29:34
  can
• 29:34
  impact
• 29:35
  you,
• 29:35
  your
• 29:36
  children,
• 29:36
  your
• 29:36
  neighbor,
• 29:36
  your
• 29:37
  family.
• 29:37
  And,
• 29:38
  man,
• 29:38
  I've
• 29:39
  had
• 29:39
  this
• 29:39
  conversation
• 29:40
  many
• 29:40
  times
• 29:40
  over
• 29:40
  the
• 29:41
  last
• 29:41
  few
• 29:41
  years,
• 29:41
  and
• 29:41
  people
• 29:41
  get
• 29:42
  emotional
• 29:42
  about
• 29:42
  it
• 29:43
  because
• 29:43
  most
• 29:44
  people,
• 29:44
  I
• 29:44
  don't
• 29:44
  think,
• 29:45
  understand
• 29:45
  why
• 29:46
  they
• 29:46
  want
• 29:46
  this
• 29:46
  space,
• 29:47
  but
• 29:47
  it's
• 29:48
  absolutely
• 29:49
  intrinsic.
• 29:49
  It's
• 29:50
  fundamental
• 29:50
  in
• 29:50
  our
• 29:50
  DNA
• 29:51
  that
• 29:51
  we
• 29:51
  are
• 29:51
  drawn
• 29:52
  out
• 29:52
  to
• 29:52
  these
• 29:52
  outdoor
• 29:53
  spaces.
• 29:54
  And
• 29:54
  I
• 29:54
  think
• 29:54
  when
• 29:55
  you
• 29:55
  start
• 29:55
  to
• 29:55
  connect
• 29:55
  the
• 29:55
  dots,
• 29:57
  it
• 29:57
  seems
• 29:57
  so
• 29:57
  obvious.
• 29:58
  Right.
• 29:58
  Like
• 29:58
  you
• 29:59
  said.
• 29:59
  Yeah.
• 29:59
  I'm
• 29:59
  outside,
• 30:00
  I
• 30:00
  see
• 30:00
  this
• 30:00
  bird.
• 30:00
  I.
• 30:01
  And
• 30:01
  I
• 30:01
  feel
• 30:01
  the
• 30:01
  wind.
• 30:02
  I
• 30:02
  feel
• 30:02
  the
• 30:03
  sun
• 30:03
  on
• 30:03
  my
• 30:03
  face
• 30:04
  like
• 30:04
  the
• 30:04
  muse.
• 30:04
  Everything
• 30:05
  just,
• 30:06
  everything
• 30:06
  feels
• 30:06
  better.
• 30:07
  And
• 30:08
  so
• 30:08
  I
• 30:09
  think
• 30:09
  when
• 30:09
  you
• 30:09
  dig
• 30:09
  into
• 30:09
  that,
• 30:10
  the
• 30:10
  conversation
• 30:11
  then
• 30:11
  becomes
• 30:12
  so
• 30:13
  different.
• 30:13
  Like,
• 30:13
  we.
• 30:14
  We
• 30:14
  can
• 30:14
  talk
• 30:14
  about
• 30:15
  product
• 30:15
  later.
• 30:15
  And
• 30:15
  I
• 30:16
  realize
• 30:16
  I
• 30:16
  work
• 30:16
  for
• 30:16
  a
• 30:16
  manufacturer
• 30:17
  and
• 30:17
  that's
• 30:17
  important
• 30:17
  to
• 30:18
  us,
• 30:18
  but
• 30:18
  product
• 30:19
  should
• 30:19
  be
• 30:19
  way
• 30:20
  down
• 30:20
  on
• 30:20
  the
• 30:20
  discussion
• 30:21
  list.
• 30:22
  You
• 30:22
  need
• 30:22
  to
• 30:22
  solve
• 30:22
  these
• 30:23
  first,
• 30:24
  and
• 30:24
  that'll
• 30:24
  help
• 30:24
  solve
• 30:25
  that
• 30:25
  later
• 30:25
  on.
• 30:26
  Yeah.
• 30:27
  One
• 30:27
  of
• 30:27
  my
• 30:27
  favorite
• 30:27
  tricks
• 30:28
  as
• 30:28
  a
• 30:28
  kitchen
• 30:28
  and
• 30:29
  bath
• 30:29
  designer
• 30:29
  is
• 30:30
  we
• 30:30
  were
• 30:30
  doing
• 30:30
  that
• 30:31
  kitchen
• 30:31
  dining
• 30:32
  room
• 30:32
  or
• 30:32
  whatever,
• 30:32
  and
• 30:32
  the
• 30:32
  door
• 30:33
  went
• 30:33
  out
• 30:33
  to
• 30:33
  the
• 30:33
  patio
• 30:34
  from
• 30:34
  there.
• 30:34
  And
• 30:34
  we
• 30:34
  were
• 30:34
  doing
• 30:35
  an
• 30:35
  outdoor
• 30:35
  space
• 30:35
  as
• 30:36
  well,
• 30:36
  or
• 30:36
  they
• 30:36
  were
• 30:37
  even
• 30:37
  planning
• 30:37
  an
• 30:37
  outdoor
• 30:38
  space,
• 30:38
  and
• 30:38
  maybe
• 30:38
  they
• 30:39
  had
• 30:39
  a
• 30:39
  covered
• 30:39
  area
• 30:40
  was
• 30:40
  to
• 30:40
  bring
• 30:40
  the
• 30:41
  tile
• 30:41
  that
• 30:41
  was
• 30:41
  in
• 30:41
  the
• 30:41
  kitchen,
• 30:42
  if
• 30:42
  it
• 30:42
  would
• 30:43
  work
• 30:43
  outside,
• 30:43
  to
• 30:43
  bring
• 30:44
  that
• 30:44
  through
• 30:44
  the
• 30:45
  nanowall
• 30:45
  or
• 30:46
  door
• 30:46
  system.
• 30:46
  Yep.
• 30:47
  And
• 30:47
  take
• 30:48
  it
• 30:48
  out
• 30:48
  into
• 30:48
  that
• 30:49
  entry
• 30:49
  out
• 30:49
  there
• 30:50
  to
• 30:50
  make
• 30:50
  it
• 30:50
  inviting.
• 30:51
  So
• 30:51
  it
• 30:51
  seems
• 30:51
  like
• 30:52
  it's
• 30:52
  seamless,
• 30:52
  that
• 30:52
  outside
• 30:53
  still
• 30:53
  on
• 30:54
  the
• 30:54
  inside.
• 30:55
  And
• 30:55
  then
• 30:55
  as
• 30:55
  it
• 30:55
  went
• 30:56
  out
• 30:56
  into
• 30:56
  the
• 30:56
  elements,
• 30:57
  you
• 30:57
  could
• 30:57
  transition
• 30:58
  over
• 30:58
  into
• 30:58
  a
• 30:59
  complimentary
• 31:00
  or
• 31:00
  color
• 31:00
  matching
• 31:01
  decking
• 31:02
  product.
• 31:02
  And
• 31:03
  it
• 31:03
  just
• 31:03
  looks
• 31:04
  absolutely
• 31:05
  stunning.
• 31:05
  And
• 31:06
  technology
• 31:07
  these
• 31:07
  days
• 31:07
  and
• 31:07
  the
• 31:08
  selection
• 31:09
  of
• 31:09
  materials
• 31:09
  has
• 31:10
  made
• 31:10
  that
• 31:10
  so
• 31:10
  much
• 31:10
  easier
• 31:11
  to
• 31:11
  do.
• 31:11
  And
• 31:12
  it's
• 31:12
  just
• 31:12
  so
• 31:12
  darn
• 31:13
  inviting
• 31:14
  when
• 31:14
  it
• 31:14
  all
• 31:15
  makes
• 31:15
  sense.
• 31:15
  Yeah.
• 31:16
  And
• 31:16
  it's
• 31:16
  interesting.
• 31:16
  I've,
• 31:17
  as
• 31:17
  you
• 31:17
  said,
• 31:18
  when
• 31:18
  you
• 31:18
  get
• 31:18
  those
• 31:19
  space,
• 31:19
  the
• 31:19
  ones
• 31:19
  that
• 31:19
  are
• 31:20
  done
• 31:20
  really
• 31:21
  well,
• 31:22
  you'll
• 31:22
  be
• 31:22
  in
• 31:22
  those
• 31:22
  spaces,
• 31:23
  I've
• 31:23
  been
• 31:23
  to
• 31:23
  events
• 31:24
  and
• 31:24
  I've
• 31:24
  been
• 31:24
  to
• 31:24
  people's
• 31:24
  homes
• 31:25
  that
• 31:25
  have
• 31:25
  them.
• 31:25
  And
• 31:25
  as
• 31:26
  you
• 31:26
  have
• 31:26
  and
• 31:26
  you
• 31:26
  think
• 31:27
  all
• 31:27
  of
• 31:27
  a
• 31:28
  sudden
• 31:28
  you
• 31:28
  realize
• 31:28
  you're
• 31:28
  like,
• 31:28
  wait
• 31:29
  a
• 31:29
  minute,
• 31:29
  I'm
• 31:29
  not
• 31:29
  actually
• 31:29
  in
• 31:30
  the
• 31:30
  house
• 31:30
  anymore.
• 31:30
  I'm
• 31:31
  actually
• 31:31
  out
• 31:31
  on
• 31:31
  a
• 31:31
  porch,
• 31:32
  but
• 31:32
  I
• 31:32
  feel
• 31:33
  like
• 31:33
  I'm
• 31:33
  in
• 31:33
  the
• 31:33
  kitchen.
• 31:34
  And
• 31:35
  those
• 31:35
  insane.
• 31:36
  That
• 31:36
  blurring
• 31:36
  of
• 31:37
  the
• 31:37
  lines
• 31:37
  is
• 31:37
  really
• 31:38
  think
• 31:38
  about
• 31:38
  how
• 31:39
  engaging
• 31:40
  that
• 31:40
  is
• 31:40
  right
• 31:41
  where
• 31:41
  or
• 31:41
  if
• 31:41
  you're
• 31:41
  in
• 31:42
  the
• 31:42
  house,
• 31:42
  you're
• 31:42
  like,
• 31:42
  what
• 31:42
  is
• 31:43
  going
• 31:43
  on
• 31:43
  out
• 31:43
  there?
• 31:43
  And
• 31:44
  it
• 31:44
  pulls
• 31:44
  people
• 31:44
  out
• 31:45
  of
• 31:45
  there,
• 31:45
  gets
• 31:46
  us
• 31:46
  off
• 31:46
  our
• 31:46
  screens,
• 31:46
  off
• 31:47
  our
• 31:47
  devices,
• 31:47
  and
• 31:48
  we're
• 31:48
  out
• 31:48
  engaging
• 31:49
  with
• 31:49
  the
• 31:49
  natural
• 31:50
  world,
• 31:50
  having
• 31:50
  conversations,
• 31:51
  food,
• 31:52
  and
• 31:52
  all
• 31:52
  of
• 31:52
  the
• 31:52
  above.
• 31:53
  It's
• 31:53
  what
• 31:53
  it's
• 31:54
  really
• 31:54
  what
• 31:54
  life
• 31:54
  is
• 31:55
  about
• 31:55
  at
• 31:56
  the
• 31:56
  end
• 31:56
  of
• 31:56
  the
• 31:56
  day,
• 31:56
  is
• 31:57
  trying
• 31:57
  to
• 31:58
  create
• 31:58
  a
• 31:58
  space
• 31:59
  that
• 31:59
  fosters
• 31:59
  those
• 32:00
  types
• 32:00
  of
• 32:00
  interactions,
• 32:01
  which
• 32:01
  I
• 32:02
  think
• 32:02
  is
• 32:02
  what
• 32:02
  really
• 32:03
  is
• 32:03
  what's
• 32:03
  driving
• 32:04
  people
• 32:04
  to
• 32:05
  want
• 32:05
  these
• 32:05
  types
• 32:05
  of
• 32:05
  spaces.
• 32:06
  All
• 32:06
  of
• 32:06
  this
• 32:07
  interview
• 32:07
  won't

  of
• 34:32
  the
• 34:32
  list
• 34:32
  of
• 34:32
  things
• 34:32
  that
• 34:33
  we
• 34:33
  could
• 34:33
  be
• 34:33
  talking
• 34:33
  about,
• 34:34
  but
• 34:34
  you
• 34:35
  guys
• 34:35
  have
• 34:35
  the
• 34:35
  whole
• 34:36
  outdoor
• 34:36
  space
• 34:37
  covered,
• 34:37
  which
• 34:37
  is
• 34:37
  cool.
• 34:38
  Yeah.
• 34:38
  When
• 34:38
  we
• 34:38
  look
• 34:39
  at
• 34:39
  what's
• 34:39
  interesting,
• 34:40
  again,
• 34:40
  if
• 34:40
  you
• 34:40
  go
• 34:40
  back
• 34:40
  to
• 34:41
  our
• 34:41
  history
• 34:41
  was
• 34:41
  primarily
• 34:42
  hardscape
• 34:43
  masonry.
• 34:43
  And
• 34:44
  now
• 34:44
  that
• 34:44
  we're
• 34:44
  in
• 34:45
  all
• 34:45
  the
• 34:45
  other
• 34:45
  pieces,
• 34:46
  the
• 34:46
  reality
• 34:47
  is,
• 34:47
  and
• 34:47
  this
• 34:47
  is
• 34:47
  what
• 34:47
  led
• 34:48
  to
• 34:48
  a
• 34:48
  lot
• 34:48
  of
• 34:48
  this
• 34:48
  is
• 34:48
  most
• 34:49
  projects
• 34:49
  have
• 34:49
  they
• 34:50
  may
• 34:50
  have
• 34:50
  a
• 34:50
  deck
• 34:51
  on
• 34:51
  part
• 34:51
  of
• 34:51
  it,
• 34:51
  they
• 34:51
  may
• 34:52
  have
• 34:52
  a
• 34:52
  stone
• 34:52
  wall,
• 34:53
  natural
• 34:53
  stone
• 34:54
  steps,
• 34:54
  all
• 34:55
  the
• 34:55
  above.
• 34:55
  And
• 34:55
  but
• 34:56
  a
• 34:56
  lot
• 34:56
  of
• 34:56
  these
• 34:56
  projects,
• 34:57
  people,
• 34:57
  from
• 34:58
  a
• 34:58
  design
• 34:58
  perspective,
• 34:58
  they
• 34:59
  also
• 34:59
  really
• 34:59
  prefer,
• 35:00
  I
• 35:00
  would
• 35:00
  say,
• 35:00
  mixed
• 35:00
  materials.
• 35:01
  And
• 35:01
  number
• 35:01
  one,
• 35:02
  we're
• 35:02
  making
• 35:02
  sure,
• 35:02
  as
• 35:02
  I
• 35:03
  mentioned,
• 35:03
  that
• 35:03
  all
• 35:03
  these
• 35:03
  products
• 35:03
  kind
• 35:04
  of
• 35:04
  work
• 35:04
  together
• 35:04
  and
• 35:05
  that
• 35:05
  we're
• 35:05
  thinking
• 35:05
  about
• 35:05
  color
• 35:06
  palettes
• 35:06
  and
• 35:06
  design
• 35:07
  and
• 35:07
  shape
• 35:07
  and
• 35:07
  all
• 35:07
  that
• 35:08
  texture,
• 35:08
  all
• 35:08
  that
• 35:08
  kind
• 35:09
  of
• 35:09
  holistically.
• 35:10
  But
• 35:10
  we're
• 35:11
  also
• 35:11
  looking
• 35:11
  at
• 35:11
  solutions
• 35:12
  that.
• 35:12
  For
• 35:12
  instance,
• 35:13
  there's
• 35:13
  a
• 35:13
  product
• 35:13
  called
• 35:14
  Instadeck,
• 35:15
  which
• 35:15
  is
• 35:15
  a
• 35:16
  revolutionary
• 35:16
  product.
• 35:17
  It's
• 35:17
  actually
• 35:17
  designed.
• 35:18
  It's
• 35:18
  the
• 35:18
  same
• 35:18
  thickness
• 35:19
  as
• 35:19
  a
• 35:19
  paver
• 35:20
  and
• 35:20
  it's
• 35:20
  designed
• 35:21
  to
• 35:21
  be
• 35:21
  laid
• 35:21
  on
• 35:21
  the
• 35:22
  same
• 35:22
  substrate,
• 35:22
  same
• 35:23
  base
• 35:23
  prep
• 35:23
  as
• 35:24
  a
• 35:24
  paver
• 35:24
  would
• 35:24
  be.
• 35:25
  The
• 35:25
  cool
• 35:25
  part
• 35:25
  about
• 35:26
  that
• 35:26
  is
• 35:26
  you
• 35:26
  can
• 35:26
  now
• 35:26
  get
• 35:27
  a
• 35:27
  grade
• 35:27
  flush
• 35:28
  level
• 35:28
  deck,
• 35:28
  look
• 35:29
  right
• 35:30
  at
• 35:30
  grade
• 35:30
  level.
• 35:31
  And
• 35:31
  you
• 35:32
  can
• 35:32
  even
• 35:32
  use
• 35:32
  it
• 35:32
  around
• 35:32
  a
• 35:33
  pool
• 35:33
  where
• 35:33
  it's
• 35:33
  technically
• 35:34
  permeable
• 35:34
  because
• 35:35
  the
• 35:35
  water
• 35:35
  would
• 35:35
  flow
• 35:35
  through
• 35:36
  the
• 35:36
  joints,
• 35:36
  the
• 35:36
  spacers.
• 35:37
  But
• 35:37
  you
• 35:37
  can
• 35:37
  mix
• 35:37
  and
• 35:37
  match
• 35:38
  pavers
• 35:38
  as
• 35:38
  well.
• 35:39
  So
• 35:39
  you
• 35:39
  can
• 35:39
  bring
• 35:39
  that
• 35:40
  look
• 35:40
  of
• 35:40
  that
• 35:41
  deck
• 35:41
  right
• 35:41
  down
• 35:41
  into
• 35:42
  the
• 35:42
  landscape.
• 35:42
  And
• 35:43
  if
• 35:43
  you
• 35:43
  want
• 35:43
  to,
• 35:43
  you
• 35:44
  could
• 35:44
  blend
• 35:44
  it
• 35:44
  with
• 35:44
  pavers
• 35:45
  and
• 35:45
  create
• 35:45
  patterns
• 35:46
  and
• 35:46
  whatnot.
• 35:46
  But
• 35:47
  it.
• 35:48
  That's
• 35:48
  one
• 35:48
  example
• 35:49
  of
• 35:49
  we're
• 35:49
  just
• 35:50
  looking
• 35:50
  at
• 35:50
  our
• 35:50
  materials
• 35:51
  differently.
• 35:52
  And
• 35:53
  a
• 35:53
  solution
• 35:54
  like
• 35:54
  that.
• 35:54
  You've
• 35:54
  been
• 35:55
  in
• 35:55
  construction
• 35:55
  like
• 35:55
  to
• 35:55
  do
• 35:56
  something
• 35:56
  like
• 35:56
  that
• 35:57
  without
• 35:57
  that
• 35:57
  system,
• 35:58
  man,
• 35:59
  you're
• 35:59
  just.
• 36:00
  You're
• 36:00
  talking
• 36:00
  about
• 36:00
  a
• 36:00
  little
• 36:00
  bit
• 36:01
  of
• 36:01
  engineering
• 36:01
  and
• 36:01
  probably
• 36:02
  had
• 36:02
  a.
• 36:02
  Gonna
• 36:02
  have
• 36:02
  some
• 36:02
  issues
• 36:03
  with
• 36:03
  it
• 36:03
  down
• 36:04
  the
• 36:04
  road
• 36:04
  at
• 36:04
  some
• 36:04
  point
• 36:04
  with
• 36:05
  building
• 36:05
  a
• 36:05
  structure
• 36:06
  underneath,
• 36:06
  trying
• 36:06
  to
• 36:06
  anchor
• 36:07
  it
• 36:07
  all
• 36:07
  the
• 36:07
  above.
• 36:08
  And
• 36:08
  not
• 36:08
  creating
• 36:09
  my
• 36:09
  own
• 36:09
  second
• 36:10
  swimming
• 36:10
  pool
• 36:10
  under
• 36:11
  my
• 36:11
  deck
• 36:11
  that
• 36:12
  my
• 36:12
  winter
• 36:13
  rains
• 36:13
  have
• 36:13
  a
• 36:13
  place
• 36:14
  to
• 36:14
  go.
• 36:14
  It's
• 36:14
  like.
• 36:15
  Exactly.
• 36:16
  Oh
• 36:16
  yeah,
• 36:17
  it
• 36:17
  would
• 36:17
  be
• 36:17
  like
• 36:18
  just
• 36:19
  another
• 36:19
  swamp
• 36:20
  pool
• 36:20
  underneath
• 36:20
  there.
• 36:21
  So
• 36:21
  that
• 36:21
  would
• 36:21
  be
• 36:21
  horrible.
• 36:22
  But
• 36:22
  that
• 36:22
  changes
• 36:23
  everything.
• 36:24
  To
• 36:24
  give
• 36:24
  you
• 36:24
  that
• 36:25
  seamless
• 36:26
  transition
• 36:26
  where
• 36:26
  you
• 36:27
  could
• 36:27
  come
• 36:27
  down
• 36:27
  those
• 36:27
  stairs
• 36:28
  and
• 36:29
  transition
• 36:29
  into
• 36:29
  that
• 36:30
  and
• 36:30
  really
• 36:30
  make
• 36:31
  some
• 36:31
  really
• 36:32
  cool
• 36:32
  design
• 36:32
  features
• 36:33
  with
• 36:33
  that.
• 36:33
  Yeah,
• 36:34
  absolutely.
• 36:35
  So
• 36:35
  then
• 36:35
  also
• 36:35
  thinking
• 36:36
  through,
• 36:36
  as
• 36:36
  you
• 36:36
  mentioned,
• 36:37
  lighting
• 36:37
  and
• 36:37
  making
• 36:37
  sure
• 36:38
  we
• 36:38
  have
• 36:38
  the
• 36:38
  different
• 36:38
  lighting
• 36:39
  components
• 36:40
  to
• 36:40
  support
• 36:41
  that
• 36:41
  entire
• 36:41
  space
• 36:42
  from
• 36:42
  the
• 36:42
  deck
• 36:42
  all
• 36:42
  the
• 36:43
  way
• 36:43
  down
• 36:43
  the
• 36:44
  fencing
• 36:44
  and
• 36:44
  rail
• 36:44
  piece,
• 36:45
  that's
• 36:45
  huge.
• 36:46
  Different
• 36:46
  railing
• 36:46
  styles.
• 36:47
  We
• 36:47
  have
• 36:47
  a
• 36:47
  new
• 36:48
  cable
• 36:48
  rail,
• 36:49
  elevation
• 36:49
  cable
• 36:50
  rail,
• 36:50
  which
• 36:50
  is
• 36:50
  a
• 36:51
  pre
• 36:51
  strung
• 36:51
  cable
• 36:51
  rail,
• 36:52
  which
• 36:52
  you
• 36:52
  basically
• 36:52
  just
• 36:53
  open
• 36:53
  it
• 36:53
  up
• 36:53
  and
• 36:53
  you
• 36:54
  tighten
• 36:54
  it
• 36:54
  down.
• 36:54
  And
• 36:54
  it's
• 36:55
  got
• 36:55
  like
• 36:55
  this
• 36:55
  pulley
• 36:56
  system
• 36:56
  so
• 36:56
  you
• 36:57
  don't
• 36:57
  have
• 36:57
  to
• 36:57
  go
• 36:57
  and
• 36:57
  tighten
• 36:57
  every
• 36:58
  individual
• 36:59
  cable
• 36:59
  up.
• 37:00
  These
• 37:00
  are
• 37:00
  examples
• 37:01
  of.
• 37:02
  We're
• 37:02
  trying
• 37:02
  to
• 37:02
  make
• 37:02
  sure
• 37:03
  what
• 37:03
  we're
• 37:03
  doing
• 37:04
  is
• 37:04
  also
• 37:04
  easier
• 37:04
  to
• 37:05
  install.
• 37:05
  Not
• 37:05
  just
• 37:06
  beautiful,
• 37:07
  not
• 37:07
  on
• 37:08
  point
• 37:08
  with
• 37:08
  design,
• 37:08
  which
• 37:08
  those
• 37:09
  things
• 37:09
  are
• 37:09
  key.
• 37:09
  But
• 37:10
  we
• 37:10
  also
• 37:11
  know
• 37:11
  that
• 37:11
  that
• 37:11
  labor
• 37:12
  is
• 37:12
  a
• 37:12
  challenge.
• 37:12
  Right.
• 37:13
  And
• 37:13
  so
• 37:13
  our
• 37:13
  pool
• 37:14
  of
• 37:14
  labor
• 37:14
  is
• 37:14
  probably
• 37:15
  not
• 37:15
  going
• 37:15
  to
• 37:15
  get
• 37:15
  any
• 37:15
  larger.
• 37:16
  This
• 37:16
  may
• 37:16
  in
• 37:16
  fact
• 37:17
  may
• 37:17
  shrink.
• 37:17
  So
• 37:18
  we
• 37:18
  got
• 37:18
  to
• 37:18
  figure
• 37:18
  out
• 37:18
  solutions
• 37:19
  to
• 37:19
  improve
• 37:20
  the
• 37:20
  speed
• 37:20
  of
• 37:20
  it.
• 37:21
  And
• 37:21
  that's
• 37:21
  an
• 37:21
  example
• 37:22
  of
• 37:22
  that.
• 37:22
  Insta
• 37:22
  deck,
• 37:23
  again
• 37:23
  is,
• 37:23
  I
• 37:23
  would
• 37:24
  say,
• 37:24
  another
• 37:24
  example
• 37:25
  of
• 37:25
  that.
• 37:25
  So
• 37:26
  we're
• 37:26
  looking
• 37:26
  through
• 37:26
  that
• 37:26
  lens
• 37:27
  so
• 37:27
  we
• 37:27
  see
• 37:28
  design,
• 37:28
  installation,
• 37:29
  color,
• 37:30
  texture,
• 37:30
  all
• 37:30
  those
• 37:30
  things
• 37:31
  working
• 37:31
  and
• 37:31
  in
• 37:32
  unison
• 37:32
  to
• 37:33
  make
• 37:33
  sure
• 37:34
  we're
• 37:34
  reinventing
• 37:35
  the
• 37:35
  way
• 37:35
  we
• 37:35
  approach
• 37:35
  it.
• 37:36
  Yeah,
• 37:36
  I
• 37:36
  love
• 37:36
  railing
• 37:37
  options
• 37:37
  because
• 37:37
  so
• 37:38
  many
• 37:38
  people
• 37:38
  get
• 37:38
  done
• 37:39
  with
• 37:39
  planning
• 37:39
  the
• 37:39
  deck
• 37:40
  and
• 37:40
  they
• 37:40
  go,
• 37:40
  now
• 37:40
  I
• 37:40
  got
• 37:40
  to
• 37:40
  do
• 37:40
  the
• 37:41
  railing.
• 37:41
  And
• 37:41
  then
• 37:41
  they
• 37:41
  cringe
• 37:42
  because
• 37:42
  they
• 37:42
  know
• 37:42
  what
• 37:43
  they
• 37:43
  got
• 37:43
  to
• 37:43
  spend
• 37:43
  on
• 37:43
  railing
• 37:44
  to
• 37:44
  get
• 37:44
  something
• 37:45
  cool.
• 37:45
  And
• 37:46
  if
• 37:46
  you
• 37:46
  can
• 37:46
  do
• 37:46
  something
• 37:46
  that
• 37:47
  saves
• 37:47
  on
• 37:47
  the
• 37:47
  labor
• 37:48
  that
• 37:48
  really
• 37:48
  helps
• 37:49
  that
• 37:49
  project
• 37:49
  get
• 37:49
  off
• 37:50
  the
• 37:50
  ground.
• 37:51
  Yeah,
• 37:51
  for
• 37:51
  sure.
• 37:51
  The
• 37:52
  other
• 37:52
  thing
• 37:52
  I
• 37:52
  would
• 37:52
  say
• 37:52
  is
• 37:53
  also
• 37:53
  a
• 37:53
  macro
• 37:54
  trend
• 37:54
  is
• 37:55
  that
• 37:55
  the
• 37:55
  yards,
• 37:56
  American
• 37:56
  yards
• 37:56
  are
• 37:57
  shrinking
• 37:57
  like
• 37:58
  radically
• 37:58
  as
• 37:58
  and
• 37:59
  sheesh.
• 38:00
  Anybody
• 38:00
  who's
• 38:00
  been
• 38:01
  around
• 38:01
  a
• 38:01
  big
• 38:01
  city
• 38:01
  can
• 38:02
  see
• 38:02
  that.
• 38:02
  Right.
• 38:02
  Or
• 38:02
  jamming
• 38:03
  as
• 38:03
  many
• 38:03
  houses
• 38:03
  they
• 38:03
  can
• 38:04
  in
• 38:04
  a
• 38:04
  small
• 38:04
  lot.
• 38:05
  And
• 38:05
  so
• 38:06
  it's
• 38:06
  making
• 38:06
  us
• 38:06
  rethink
• 38:07
  product
• 38:07
  design
• 38:08
  and
• 38:08
  even
• 38:08
  how
• 38:09
  this,
• 38:09
  what
• 38:09
  an
• 38:09
  outdoor
• 38:09
  living
• 38:10
  space
• 38:10
  means.
• 38:10
  We're
• 38:11
  looking
• 38:11
  at
• 38:11
  it
• 38:11
  through
• 38:11
  the
• 38:11
  lens
• 38:11
  of
• 38:12
  an
• 38:12
  outdoor
• 38:12
  living
• 38:12
  space.
• 38:13
  Might
• 38:13
  be
• 38:13
  someone's
• 38:13
  balcony
• 38:14
  living
• 38:14
  in
• 38:14
  an
• 38:14
  apartment
• 38:15
  building
• 38:15
  all
• 38:15
  the
• 38:16
  way
• 38:16
  down
• 38:16
  to
• 38:17
  10,
• 38:17
  10
• 38:17
  by
• 38:17
  20
• 38:18
  foot
• 38:18
  area
• 38:18
  that's
• 38:18
  off
• 38:19
  the
• 38:19
  side
• 38:19
  of
• 38:19
  an
• 38:19
  alley
• 38:20
  or
• 38:20
  on
• 38:20
  the
• 38:20
  side
• 38:21
  yard
• 38:21
  or
• 38:22
  the
• 38:22
  front
• 38:22
  yard.
• 38:23
  And
• 38:23
  so
• 38:24
  we
• 38:24
  also
• 38:24
  then
• 38:25
  are
• 38:25
  thinking
• 38:25
  if
• 38:26
  you
• 38:26
  have
• 38:26
  a
• 38:26
  very
• 38:26
  narrow
• 38:26
  space,
• 38:27
  for
• 38:27
  instance
• 38:28
  a
• 38:28
  12
• 38:28
  inch
• 38:28
  deep
• 38:29
  block
• 38:29
  doesn't
• 38:29
  work.
• 38:30
  You
• 38:30
  need
• 38:30
  something
• 38:30
  narrower.
• 38:31
  And
• 38:31
  so
• 38:31
  what
• 38:32
  does
• 38:32
  that
• 38:32
  look
• 38:32
  like?
• 38:32
  And
• 38:33
  so
• 38:33
  our
• 38:33
  products,
• 38:33
  like
• 38:33
  our
• 38:34
  Art
• 38:34
  forms
• 38:34
  modular
• 38:35
  panel
• 38:35
  system
• 38:35
  were
• 38:36
  born
• 38:36
  out
• 38:36
  of
• 38:36
  that
• 38:36
  idea
• 38:37
  is
• 38:38
  taking
• 38:38
  a
• 38:39
  relatively
• 38:39
  thin
• 38:39
  product
• 38:40
  and
• 38:40
  basically
• 38:41
  bolting
• 38:41
  it
• 38:41
  together
• 38:41
  with
• 38:42
  stainless
• 38:42
  hardware
• 38:43
  to
• 38:44
  alleviate
• 38:44
  the
• 38:44
  need
• 38:45
  to
• 38:45
  build
• 38:45
  a
• 38:46
  really
• 38:46
  heavy
• 38:47
  gravity
• 38:48
  based
• 38:48
  planter
• 38:49
  seat,
• 38:49
  wall
• 38:50
  bench,
• 38:50
  kitchen,
• 38:51
  that
• 38:51
  type
• 38:51
  of
• 38:51
  thing.
• 38:51
  So
• 38:52
  all
• 38:52
  these
• 38:52
  things
• 38:52
  cross
• 38:53
  over.
• 38:53
  But
• 38:53
  yeah,
• 38:54
  I
• 38:54
  mean
• 38:54
  looking,
• 38:55
  stepping
• 38:55
  back,
• 38:55
  going,
• 38:56
  what
• 38:56
  does
• 38:56
  an
• 38:56
  outdoor
• 38:57
  living
• 38:57
  space
• 38:57
  consist
• 38:58
  of?
• 38:58
  Where
• 38:58
  are
• 38:58
  they
• 38:59
  at?
• 38:59
  We
• 38:59
  also
• 39:00
  see
• 39:00
  a
• 39:00
  big
• 39:00
  shift
• 39:00
  towards
• 39:01
  multi
• 39:01
  family.
• 39:02
  People
• 39:03
  live
• 39:03
  in
• 39:03
  multi
• 39:03
  family,
• 39:04
  whether
• 39:04
  condos
• 39:05
  or
• 39:05
  apartment
• 39:05
  complexes
• 39:06
  still
• 39:06
  want
• 39:06
  an
• 39:06
  outdoor
• 39:06
  living
• 39:07
  space.
• 39:07
  Right.
• 39:07
  So
• 39:08
  those
• 39:08
  are
• 39:08
  more
• 39:09
  community
• 39:09
  oriented.
• 39:09
  It
• 39:10
  really
• 39:10
  does
• 39:10
  affect
• 39:10
  product
• 39:11
  design
• 39:11
  and
• 39:11
  overall
• 39:12
  design.
• 39:12
  And
• 39:13
  we're
• 39:13
  looking
• 39:13
  through
• 39:14
  consistently
• 39:15
  through
• 39:15
  that
• 39:15
  lens
• 39:15
  as
• 39:16
  well
• 39:16
  as
• 39:16
  the
• 39:16
  commercial
• 39:17
  piece.
• 39:18
  Yeah,
• 39:18
  it's
• 39:18
  interesting.
• 39:18
  And
• 39:19
  to
• 39:19
  jump
• 39:20
  on
• 39:20
  that.
• 39:20
  My
• 39:20
  girlfriend's
• 39:21
  got
• 39:22
  a
• 39:22
  beautiful
• 39:22
  townhouse
• 39:23
  and
• 39:23
  it's
• 39:23
  72
• 39:24
  inches
• 39:24
  of
• 39:24
  depth
• 39:25
  off
• 39:25
  the
• 39:25
  back
• 39:25
  wall
• 39:26
  back
• 39:26
  there
• 39:26
  of
• 39:27
  space.
• 39:28
  It's
• 39:28
  nice
• 39:28
  and
• 39:28
  wide,
• 39:29
  there's
• 39:29
  a
• 39:29
  lot
• 39:29
  of
• 39:29
  space
• 39:29
  there.
• 39:30
  But
• 39:30
  there's
• 39:30
  a
• 39:31
  six
• 39:31
  foot
• 39:31
  fence
• 39:32
  that
• 39:32
  you're
• 39:32
  in
• 39:32
  a
• 39:33
  box.
• 39:33
  So
• 39:34
  design
• 39:34
  wise,
• 39:35
  how
• 39:35
  do
• 39:35
  you
• 39:35
  make
• 39:35
  this
• 39:36
  look
• 39:38
  with
• 39:38
  a
• 39:38
  limit
• 39:38
  of
• 39:39
  space
• 39:39
  and
• 39:39
  access?
• 39:40
  Yeah,
• 39:40
  no,
• 39:40
  that's
• 39:41
  for
• 39:41
  sure.
• 39:41
  That's
• 39:41
  exactly
• 39:42
  where
• 39:42
  we're
• 39:42
  at.
• 39:42
  And
• 39:42
  it's
• 39:43
  funny
• 39:43
  because
• 39:44
  I
• 39:44
  think
• 39:44
  even
• 39:44
  a
• 39:45
  lot
• 39:45
  of
• 39:45
  the
• 39:45
  contracting
• 39:45
  and
• 39:46
  design
• 39:46
  community
• 39:46
  will
• 39:47
  just
• 39:47
  write
• 39:47
  off
• 39:47
  certain
• 39:48
  areas
• 39:48
  like
• 39:48
  that.
• 39:48
  Well,
• 39:49
  they
• 39:49
  don't
• 39:49
  have
• 39:49
  the
• 39:50
  half
• 39:50
  acre,
• 39:50
  one
• 39:50
  acre
• 39:51
  lot
• 39:51
  that
• 39:51
  we
• 39:51
  were
• 39:51
  used
• 39:51
  to.
• 39:53
  But
• 39:53
  those
• 39:53
  same
• 39:53
  people,
• 39:54
  a
• 39:54
  lot
• 39:54
  of
• 39:54
  cases,
• 39:55
  I
• 39:55
  would
• 39:55
  say
• 39:55
  they
• 39:56
  have
• 39:56
  the
• 39:56
  disposable
• 39:57
  income
• 39:57
  to
• 39:57
  do
• 39:57
  it,
• 39:57
  they
• 39:57
  have
• 39:58
  the
• 39:58
  will
• 39:58
  to
• 39:58
  do
• 39:58
  it.
• 39:59
  And
• 39:59
  so
• 40:00
  you
• 40:00
  may
• 40:00
  need
• 40:00
  to
• 40:00
  get
• 40:00
  creative
• 40:01
  with
• 40:01
  using
• 40:01
  angular
• 40:02
  design.
• 40:02
  Maybe
• 40:03
  there's
• 40:03
  built
• 40:03
  ins,
• 40:03
  there's
• 40:04
  vertical
• 40:04
  gardens,
• 40:05
  there's
• 40:05
  trellises.
• 40:06
  Right.
• 40:06
  You're
• 40:07
  creating
• 40:07
  a
• 40:07
  hybrid
• 40:08
  space
• 40:08
  perhaps.
• 40:09
  Or
• 40:10
  maybe
• 40:10
  you
• 40:10
  need
• 40:10
  to
• 40:10
  shift
• 40:11
  the
• 40:11
  whole
• 40:11
  outdoor
• 40:11
  living
• 40:12
  space
• 40:12
  to
• 40:12
  the
• 40:12
  front
• 40:12
  yard.
• 40:13
  And
• 40:13
  you're
• 40:13
  seeing
• 40:13
  this
• 40:14
  happen
• 40:14
  with
• 40:14
  a
• 40:14
  lot
• 40:14
  of
• 40:14
  new
• 40:14
  construction,
• 40:15
  which
• 40:16
  was
• 40:16
  the
• 40:16
  original
• 40:17
  outdoor
• 40:17
  living
• 40:17
  space,
• 40:18
  by
• 40:18
  the
• 40:18
  way,
• 40:18
  if
• 40:18
  you
• 40:18
  go
• 40:18
  back
• 40:19
  far
• 40:19
  enough.
• 40:20
  Amen.
• 40:21
  But
• 40:21
  what
• 40:22
  is
• 40:22
  interesting,
• 40:22
  because
• 40:22
  I
• 40:23
  think
• 40:23
  you
• 40:23
  can
• 40:24
  still
• 40:24
  achieve
• 40:24
  a
• 40:24
  lot
• 40:25
  in
• 40:25
  a
• 40:25
  very
• 40:25
  small
• 40:26
  space.
• 40:26
  And
• 40:26
  I
• 40:27
  always,
• 40:27
  I
• 40:27
  related
• 40:28
  back
• 40:28
  to
• 40:28
  indoor.
• 40:28
  If
• 40:29
  you
• 40:29
  imagine
• 40:30
  if
• 40:30
  I
• 40:30
  had
• 40:30
  a
• 40:30
  10
• 40:31
  by
• 40:31
  12
• 40:31
  foot
• 40:32
  dining
• 40:33
  room,
• 40:33
  for
• 40:33
  instance,
• 40:33
  like,
• 40:33
  that's
• 40:33
  a
• 40:34
  pretty
• 40:34
  decent
• 40:34
  sized
• 40:35
  dining
• 40:35
  room,
• 40:36
  right?
• 40:36
  Sure.
• 40:36
  But
• 40:37
  a
• 40:37
  lot
• 40:37
  of
• 40:37
  people
• 40:37
  in
• 40:37
  their
• 40:37
  mind
• 40:38
  are
• 40:38
  like,
• 40:38
  I
• 40:38
  don't
• 40:38
  have
• 40:38
  enough
• 40:38
  space
• 40:39
  when
• 40:39
  they
• 40:39
  have
• 40:39
  a
• 40:39
  detached
• 40:40
  garage.
• 40:40
  And
• 40:41
  you
• 40:41
  actually
• 40:41
  measure
• 40:42
  it.
• 40:42
  It's
• 40:43
  25ft
• 40:43
  from
• 40:43
  the
• 40:44
  house
• 40:44
  and
• 40:44
  the
• 40:44
  lot's
• 40:44
  50ft
• 40:45
  wide.
• 40:45
  And
• 40:45
  you're
• 40:45
  like,
• 40:45
  you
• 40:46
  realize
• 40:46
  you've
• 40:46
  got
• 40:46
  over
• 40:46
  a
• 40:47
  thousand
• 40:47
  square
• 40:47
  feet
• 40:47
  back
• 40:48
  here.
• 40:48
  And
• 40:48
  they
• 40:49
  don't
• 40:49
  because
• 40:49
  they're
• 40:49
  thinking
• 40:50
  their
• 40:50
  mind
• 40:50
  of
• 40:50
  this
• 40:51
  big,
• 40:51
  beautiful,
• 40:52
  expansive
• 40:52
  yard.
• 40:53
  But
• 40:54
  when
• 40:54
  you
• 40:54
  start
• 40:54
  designing
• 40:55
  it,
• 40:55
  you're
• 40:55
  like,
• 40:55
  wow,
• 40:56
  I
• 40:56
  can
• 40:56
  really
• 40:56
  do
• 40:56
  a
• 40:56
  lot
• 40:56
  in
• 40:57
  this
• 40:57
  space.
• 40:57
  So
• 40:58
  part
• 40:58
  of
• 40:58
  it
• 40:58
  is
• 40:59
  on
• 40:59
  us,
• 40:59
  I
• 40:59
  think,
• 41:00
  to
• 41:00
  inspire
• 41:00
  and
• 41:00
  show
• 41:01
  people
• 41:01
  that
• 41:02
  through
• 41:02
  our
• 41:02
  marketing,
• 41:03
  through
• 41:03
  some
• 41:03
  of
• 41:03
  the
• 41:03
  design
• 41:04
  tools
• 41:04
  we
• 41:04
  have,
• 41:04
  through
• 41:05
  our
• 41:05
  companies
• 41:05
  like
• 41:06
  Yardsen.
• 41:06
  And
• 41:06
  we're
• 41:07
  doing
• 41:07
  that.
• 41:07
  But
• 41:07
  I
• 41:07
  think
• 41:07
  it's
• 41:08
  just
• 41:08
  a
• 41:08
  shifting
• 41:09
  mindset
• 41:10
  of
• 41:10
  how
• 41:10
  do
• 41:10
  we
• 41:10
  meet
• 41:11
  the
• 41:11
  consumer,
• 41:11
  where
• 41:11
  they're
• 41:11
  at
• 41:12
  today
• 41:12
  with
• 41:12
  the
• 41:12
  current
• 41:13
  trends
• 41:14
  that
• 41:14
  are
• 41:14
  happening
• 41:14
  with
• 41:14
  construction
• 41:15
  overall.
• 41:15
  And
• 41:16
  that's
• 41:16
  a
• 41:16
  big
• 41:16
  one
• 41:16
  that
• 41:17
  we're
• 41:17
  focused
• 41:17
  on,
• 41:18
  man.
• 41:18
  No
• 41:19
  kidding.
• 41:19
  And
• 41:19
  it's
• 41:19
  so
• 41:20
  amazing
• 41:20
  when
• 41:20
  people
• 41:20
  get
• 41:21
  the
• 41:21
  chance
• 41:21
  to
• 41:21
  rethink.
• 41:22
  And
• 41:22
  again,
• 41:22
  that's
• 41:23
  where
• 41:23
  bringing
• 41:23
  that
• 41:23
  professional
• 41:24
  is.
• 41:24
  Because
• 41:24
  sometimes
• 41:25
  as
• 41:25
  homeowners
• 41:26
  and
• 41:26
  even
• 41:26
  as
• 41:27
  contractors
• 41:27
  that
• 41:27
  are
• 41:28
  just
• 41:28
  out
• 41:28
  there
• 41:28
  that
• 41:28
  are
• 41:28
  maybe
• 41:29
  doing
• 41:29
  that
• 41:30
  remodel,
• 41:30
  but
• 41:31
  need
• 41:31
  to
• 41:32
  address
• 41:32
  the
• 41:33
  outdoor
• 41:33
  space
• 41:33
  as
• 41:33
  part
• 41:34
  of
• 41:34
  the
• 41:34
  project.
• 41:35
  Sometimes
• 41:35
  people
• 41:36
  are,
• 41:36
  you're
• 41:36
  standing
• 41:37
  in
• 41:37
  the
• 41:37
  middle
• 41:37
  of
• 41:37
  the
• 41:37
  forest
• 41:37
  and
• 41:38
  you
• 41:38
  can't
• 41:38
  see
• 41:38
  the
• 41:38
  trees.
• 41:39
  Sometimes
• 41:39
  bringing
• 41:40
  that
• 41:40
  fresh
• 41:41
  eyed
• 41:41
  professional
• 41:42
  that
• 41:42
  does
• 41:42
  this
• 41:42
  for
• 41:43
  a
• 41:43
  living
• 41:43
  is
• 41:44
  the
• 41:44
  smartest
• 41:44
  way
• 41:44
  to
• 41:45
  get
• 41:45
  that
• 41:45
  project
• 41:45
  off
• 41:45
  the
• 41:46
  ground.
• 41:46
  And
• 41:47
  planning
• 41:47
  is
• 41:48
  always
• 41:48
  the
• 41:48
  key
• 41:48
  to
• 41:48
  success
• 41:49
  with
• 41:49
  any
• 41:49
  outdoor
• 41:49
  project.
• 41:50
  From
• 41:50
  where
• 41:50
  I
• 41:50
  come
• 41:50
  from.
• 41:51
  Yeah.
• 41:51
  No,
• 41:51
  100%.
• 41:53
  Yeah.
• 41:53
  So,
• 41:53
  Joe,
• 41:53
  what
• 41:54
  have
• 41:54
  we
• 41:54
  not
• 41:54
  missed?
• 41:55
  Because
• 41:55
  we're
• 41:55
  running
• 41:55
  out
• 41:55
  of
• 41:55
  time.
• 41:56
  What
• 41:56
  have
• 41:56
  we
• 41:56
  not
• 41:56
  talked
• 41:56
  on
• 41:57
  here?
• 41:57
  What
• 41:57
  have
• 41:57
  we
• 41:57
  missed
• 41:57
  again?
• 41:58
  We
• 41:58
  could
• 41:58
  go
• 41:58
  for
• 41:58
  hours
• 41:59
  and
• 41:59
  go
• 42:00
  down
• 42:00
  some
• 42:00
  pretty
• 42:00
  deep
• 42:01
  rabbit
• 42:01
  holes,
• 42:01
  but
• 42:02
  what
• 42:02
  else
• 42:02
  have
• 42:02
  we
• 42:02
  not
• 42:03
  talked
• 42:03
  about?
• 42:03
  Real
• 42:03
  quick
• 42:03
  as
• 42:04
  we
• 42:04
  wrap
• 42:04
  this
• 42:04
  up.
• 42:05
  Yeah,
• 42:05
  we
• 42:05
  covered
• 42:06
  a
• 42:06
  lot
• 42:06
  of
• 42:06
  ground,
• 42:06
  literally.
• 42:07
  And
• 42:08
  I
• 42:09
  would
• 42:09
  just
• 42:09
  reiterate
• 42:10
  from
• 42:10
  our
• 42:10
  perspective
• 42:11
  again,
• 42:11
  that
• 42:11
  I
• 42:12
  think,
• 42:13
  and
• 42:13
  this
• 42:13
  is
• 42:13
  a
• 42:13
  worldwide
• 42:14
  macro
• 42:14
  trend
• 42:15
  with
• 42:15
  all
• 42:15
  construction
• 42:16
  is
• 42:16
  this
• 42:16
  idea
• 42:17
  of
• 42:18
  this
• 42:18
  nature
• 42:19
  in
• 42:19
  built
• 42:19
  world
• 42:20
  connection.
• 42:20
  And
• 42:21
  how
• 42:21
  do
• 42:21
  we
• 42:21
  redesign
• 42:22
  our.
• 42:22
  The
• 42:23
  places
• 42:23
  we
• 42:23
  live,
• 42:24
  work
• 42:24
  and
• 42:24
  play
• 42:24
  to.
• 42:25
  To
• 42:25
  better
• 42:26
  foster
• 42:27
  that
• 42:27
  connection
• 42:27
  with
• 42:27
  the
• 42:28
  outdoor
• 42:28
  world.
• 42:29
  And
• 42:29
  again,
• 42:29
  a
• 42:29
  lot
• 42:29
  of
• 42:29
  it's
• 42:30
  visual,
• 42:30
  a
• 42:30
  lot
• 42:30
  of
• 42:30
  it's
• 42:31
  connection,
• 42:31
  a
• 42:31
  lot
• 42:31
  of
• 42:31
  it's
• 42:32
  functional
• 42:32
  and
• 42:32
  design
• 42:33
  related.
• 42:33
  It's
• 42:33
  all
• 42:34
  related.
• 42:34
  But
• 42:35
  I
• 42:35
  would
• 42:35
  say
• 42:35
  for
• 42:35
  those
• 42:36
  who
• 42:36
  are
• 42:36
  listening,
• 42:36
  if
• 42:37
  you're
• 42:37
  in
• 42:37
  this
• 42:37
  space
• 42:37
  and
• 42:38
  you're
• 42:38
  a
• 42:38
  designer,
• 42:38
  you're
• 42:39
  a
• 42:39
  builder,
• 42:39
  you're
• 42:39
  a
• 42:39
  homeowner,
• 42:40
  dig
• 42:41
  in
• 42:41
  and
• 42:41
  do
• 42:41
  some
• 42:41
  research.
• 42:41
  And
• 42:42
  we're
• 42:42
  going
• 42:42
  to
• 42:42
  be
• 42:42
  publishing
• 42:43
  some
• 42:43
  things
• 42:44
  throughout
• 42:44
  the
• 42:44
  coming
• 42:45
  year
• 42:45
  on
• 42:45
  some
• 42:46
  of
• 42:46
  the
• 42:46
  data
• 42:46
  that's
• 42:46
  out
• 42:46
  there.
• 42:47
  But
• 42:48
  I
• 42:48
  can't
• 42:48
  stress
• 42:48
  enough.
• 42:49
  I
• 42:49
  think
• 42:50
  the
• 42:50
  outdoor
• 42:50
  space
• 42:51
  is
• 42:51
  an
• 42:51
  antidote
• 42:51
  for
• 42:52
  a
• 42:52
  lot
• 42:52
  of
• 42:52
  the
• 42:53
  issues
• 42:53
  that
• 42:53
  plague
• 42:54
  our
• 42:54
  society
• 42:54
  in
• 42:55
  a
• 42:55
  way.
• 42:55
  Right.
• 42:55
  Where
• 42:56
  I
• 42:56
  think
• 42:56
  we
• 42:56
  all
• 42:56
  know
• 42:57
  we're
• 42:57
  addicted
• 42:57
  to
• 42:57
  screens.
• 42:58
  We
• 42:58
  all
• 42:58
  know
• 42:58
  that
• 42:59
  certain
• 42:59
  things
• 42:59
  aren't
• 43:00
  quite
• 43:00
  right.
• 43:00
  We're
• 43:00
  all,
• 43:01
  I
• 43:01
  think,
• 43:01
  longing
• 43:02
  for
• 43:02
  authentic
• 43:03
  experiences
• 43:04
  and
• 43:04
  relationships
• 43:05
  and
• 43:05
  natural
• 43:06
  experiences.
• 43:07
  And
• 43:08
  the
• 43:08
  spaces
• 43:08
  that
• 43:09
  we
• 43:09
  build
• 43:09
  and
• 43:10
  whether
• 43:10
  we
• 43:10
  really
• 43:11
  understand
• 43:11
  it
• 43:11
  or
• 43:11
  not,
• 43:12
  are
• 43:13
  creating
• 43:13
  a
• 43:13
  vehicle
• 43:14
  for
• 43:14
  people
• 43:14
  to
• 43:14
  have
• 43:15
  those
• 43:15
  experiences.
• 43:16
  And
• 43:16
  if
• 43:16
  you
• 43:16
  start
• 43:17
  from
• 43:17
  there,
• 43:17
  man,
• 43:18
  I
• 43:18
  just
• 43:18
  think
• 43:18
  the
• 43:18
  whole
• 43:18
  narrative
• 43:19
  changes
• 43:19
  and
• 43:20
  I
• 43:20
  only
• 43:20
  see
• 43:21
  upside
• 43:22
  from
• 43:22
  this
• 43:22
  point
• 43:22
  on
• 43:23
  for
• 43:23
  our
• 43:23
  industry
• 43:23
  and
• 43:24
  even
• 43:24
  beyond.
• 43:24
  And
• 43:25
  so
• 43:25
  I
• 43:25
  think
• 43:25
  understanding
• 43:26
  that
• 43:26
  learning
• 43:27
  that
• 43:28
  and
• 43:28
  then
• 43:28
  sharing
• 43:28
  that
• 43:29
  with
• 43:29
  your
• 43:29
  clients
• 43:29
  is
• 43:30
  absolutely
• 43:30
  huge
• 43:30
  and
• 43:30
  will
• 43:31
  be
• 43:31
  transformational.
• 43:32
  Amen.
• 43:33
  And
• 43:33
  if
• 43:33
  people
• 43:33
  are
• 43:34
  going
• 43:34
  to
• 43:34
  spend
• 43:34
  some
• 43:34
  screen
• 43:35
  time,
• 43:35
  they
• 43:35
  should
• 43:35
  be
• 43:35
  on
• 43:36
  your
• 43:36
  website
• 43:36
  designing
• 43:37
  and
• 43:37
  planning
• 43:37
  that
• 43:37
  space
• 43:38
  so
• 43:38
  they
• 43:38
