- 0:09Speaker 1: We're gilling you with the news of the day, whether
- 0:13Speaker 1: you like it or not, one of ruminators. Welcome to Tuesday,
- 0:17Speaker 1: December third, on the Morning Show, Day fifty two to
- 0:21Speaker 1: eighty three, and we've done a little reversal. Instead of
- 0:25Speaker 1: counting the number of days we've been held hostage by
- 0:27Speaker 1: the Biden regime, we are now counting them down. It's
- 0:31Speaker 1: forty eight days, friends, that's the number. Forty eight days
- 0:36Speaker 1: until the new presidential administration takes over in Washington, DC
- 0:40Speaker 1: on January twentieth. And we are excited about that. And
- 0:43Speaker 1: we are excited as well. She's number three in terms
- 0:47Speaker 1: of the district representing here Florida's third congressional district, but
- 0:50Speaker 1: number one in our hearts. US Congresswoman Caac Camick.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Good morning, Good morning, how are you doing.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'm terrific. Tell me about Thanksgiving at the Hammock household.
- 1:00Speaker 1: What's that like? How does that unfold?
- 1:05Speaker 2: It's funny because my husband is the ultimate introvert, and
- 1:11Speaker 2: so he kind of has to have days leading up
- 1:14Speaker 2: to Thanksgiving with the big family gathering where he can
- 1:18Speaker 2: recharge his social battery, as he calls it. And for me,
- 1:24Speaker 2: it's all about the mac and cheese. It's all about
- 1:26Speaker 2: the smoke turkey. I despise stuffing. I don't understand it.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I really don't, even on the side, not necessarily stuffing
- 1:36Speaker 1: in the bird, but even on the side.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, even on the side. My husband's a huge fan
- 1:40Speaker 2: of it. I don't understand it. I don't know what
- 1:44Speaker 2: that's about. But in our family, we do three turkeys,
- 1:49Speaker 2: and it's our uncle John. He does them. One is baked,
- 1:54Speaker 2: one is deep fried, and one is smoked. And I
- 1:58Speaker 2: have to tell you, the smoke turkey it's hands down
- 2:01Speaker 2: the way to go. Hands down.
- 2:03Speaker 1: What's it smoked with? Is it a special wood that
- 2:05Speaker 1: he smokes it with?
- 2:07Speaker 2: You know, I actually don't know what kind of what
- 2:09Speaker 2: he smokes it with. But this year he did a
- 2:10Speaker 2: little differently. He took the spine and basically crafted to
- 2:15Speaker 2: lay it flat so he could do a brine on
- 2:18Speaker 2: both sides for I think twelve or twenty four hours
- 2:22Speaker 2: each side. And it was incredible. Yeah, yeah, it was.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It was. It was better. And normally the deep friedway
- 2:31Speaker 2: is the way to go, but this year it was
- 2:33Speaker 2: a small turkey. Okay, yeah, back and then for us, see,
- 2:38Speaker 2: I'm not I don't I'm not a very good cook,
- 2:40Speaker 2: so I baked. I love baking, and so this year
- 2:45Speaker 2: I did a pumpkin cheesecake homemade, even the crust was homemade,
- 2:52Speaker 2: and that was a big hit. And then we do
- 2:55Speaker 2: apple dump cake, and we affectionately call the final Desert
- 3:00Speaker 2: crack salad. It's this homemade whipped cream with crushed pineapple.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And then I toss pretzels with brown sugar, butter and
- 3:10Speaker 2: salt and roast them in the oven to make them
- 3:12Speaker 2: really christy. And then I use a hammer and I
- 3:15Speaker 2: smash them into bits, and then I sprinkle it on
- 3:17Speaker 2: top of the whip cream.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Oh cat, come on, no, I.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Know there's the reason why it's name cracks out.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Now. Well, people hear that all the time, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 1: if you want to swap recipes, I mean, we can
- 3:36Speaker 1: do that, but I'm what's interesting to me about Thanksgiving
- 3:43Speaker 1: is it is the holiday that is the least commercialized
- 3:48Speaker 1: and the purest of all of them. Even though obviously
- 3:51Speaker 1: as a Christian, I still try to focus on the whole.
- 3:55Speaker 1: You know, you can't spell Christmas without christ kind of thing.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But Thanksgiving is just so uncluttered. It's lovely, it is.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And and part of my Thanksgiving tradition growing up is football,
- 4:08Speaker 2: you know, so there you always got to watch the
- 4:09Speaker 2: football games. You got to have it on the background.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And it's just a good time for everyone to come together.
- 4:14Speaker 2: And that's not to say that. And when when I
- 4:18Speaker 2: say that, people totally understand it. Family can be hard
- 4:21Speaker 2: sometimes and yeah, so you can imagine some of the dynamics,
- 4:27Speaker 2: but it's it's always a good time. And this year
- 4:30Speaker 2: I had to laugh a little bit because we have
- 4:34Speaker 2: a family member who is, let's say, of the left
- 4:39Speaker 2: persuasion the left, oh yeah, yeah, And so I felt
- 4:45Speaker 2: a little I don't want to say I felt good.
- 4:47Speaker 2: But when I walked in, everyone kind of came up
- 4:50Speaker 2: to me and they were like drup drop drew up
- 4:53Speaker 2: like rabbid and I looked over and bless her heart,
- 4:57Speaker 2: she hit that block. She was it fine.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Then joined me this morning, US congress Woman Kat Camick.
- 5:05Speaker 1: We will segue to other things, but it's December, people,
- 5:11Speaker 1: come on. We got the rest of the year to
- 5:13Speaker 1: chew and grind on the rest, Kat, I want to
- 5:16Speaker 1: dig a little deeper into without prying that that whole
- 5:19Speaker 1: family dynamic, because you know, we talked about a ton
- 5:23Speaker 1: of stories here that I mean, you've got all the
- 5:26Speaker 1: psychologists out there saying, not all some saying, you know,
- 5:30Speaker 1: if you if you have Trump supporters in your family,
- 5:33Speaker 1: just don't associate with them during the holidays, just don't
- 5:35Speaker 1: have them over, don't spend time with them, et cetera.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So in a situation like that, how do you handle it?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Because what I know of you, you're a generous, kind
- 5:47Speaker 1: soul and you were already saying, bless her heart. So
- 5:52Speaker 1: what does that whole afternoon evening look like with your
- 5:55Speaker 1: family when you've got somebody there that doesn't align with
- 5:58Speaker 1: your views.
- 6:00Speaker 2: If there's one thing, and my husband and friends will
- 6:02Speaker 2: attest to this, if there's one thing that really really
- 6:06Speaker 2: bothers me, that you know, makes me go and see
- 6:08Speaker 2: red right out the gate, it is one somebody who's
- 6:13Speaker 2: a jerk or cruel to animals and to a bully.
- 6:18Speaker 2: And I've always thought that the tactics of the left
- 6:21Speaker 2: were very much in line with bullying. And if they
- 6:25Speaker 2: can't bully you into submission, they shame you into submission.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And so I've always been very sensitive, which I wasn't
- 6:32Speaker 2: bullied as a kid. So people always asking you're like,
- 6:34Speaker 2: were you bullied? I'm like, no, I just I have
- 6:36Speaker 2: this this thing that I cannot stand when someone feels
- 6:41Speaker 2: like they're being bullied, and so knowing that it could
- 6:45Speaker 2: get out of hand very quickly, all the you know
- 6:48Speaker 2: talk of how we effectively destroyed the Democrats in this election,
- 6:53Speaker 2: you know, I could see I could see her getting
- 6:55Speaker 2: very quiet and a little uncomfortable. And I never want
- 6:57Speaker 2: someone to feel uncomfortable. And I never I never want
- 7:00Speaker 2: want to prove the left and those who who call
- 7:03Speaker 2: us all the names. I don't ever want to be
- 7:06Speaker 2: the thing that they they claim us to be. And
- 7:08Speaker 2: so I'm always trying to find common ground with people.
- 7:11Speaker 2: And so in that sort of dynamic, you know, you
- 7:14Speaker 2: have to relish the moment a little bit. And I
- 7:17Speaker 2: would pull my I'd pull my cousins and you know,
- 7:19Speaker 2: the uncles and aunts a the side. I'd be like, yes,
- 7:21Speaker 2: it's very exciting, it's super awesome, super cool, you know,
- 7:24Speaker 2: and then we're talking. But I don't ever want someone,
- 7:27Speaker 2: particularly family, to feel isolated, and so I ended up
- 7:29Speaker 2: pulling her aside. One thing about me is I'm a
- 7:33Speaker 2: rabid reader of books, all kinds of books. And I
- 7:38Speaker 2: gave myself a challenge over the Thanksgiving break to read
- 7:43Speaker 2: a series that is completely out of my wheelhouse, and
- 7:46Speaker 2: I knew she was a fan of it, and so
- 7:47Speaker 2: I just kind of started talking to her about it.
- 7:49Speaker 2: She got so excited. I could see the light in
- 7:51Speaker 2: her eyes as I started talking to her about it.
- 7:53Speaker 2: And it's a good reminder in a broader sense that
- 7:57Speaker 2: we have so much more in common with our friends,
- 8:01Speaker 2: our family, our neighbors who maybe don't agree with us politically,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and we need to continue to remind them of that
- 8:08Speaker 2: because this is a moment when they're down right, they've
- 8:11Speaker 2: completely lost top to bottom, and instead of kicking them
- 8:14Speaker 2: while they're down, I think it's a good moment to
- 8:16Speaker 2: actually bring them into the fold. And one of the
- 8:19Speaker 2: things that I did segue into talking with her about
- 8:23Speaker 2: was some of the work that we're doing legislatively. She's
- 8:26Speaker 2: looking to buy a house, and you know, it was
- 8:29Speaker 2: talking about how difficult it is, and I said, well,
- 8:31Speaker 2: you know, President Trump is actually you know, working on
- 8:35Speaker 2: this issue and that issue, and we have a build
- 8:37Speaker 2: it would allow you know, first time home buyers to
- 8:39Speaker 2: get into a home quicker and easier. And and I
- 8:42Speaker 2: could see that that was a bridge. Yeah, it's it's
- 8:45Speaker 2: just a good reminder that we have to speak to
- 8:48Speaker 2: each other as humans and as neighbors and love one another.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And we stay down here in the South, we're gonna
- 8:53Speaker 2: love each other through it rather than, you know, just
- 8:57Speaker 2: kind of rub it in their face. Believe me, we
- 8:59Speaker 2: have so much to to rub in people's faces. But
- 9:02Speaker 2: it was better serve us not to do that, and
- 9:05Speaker 2: particularly the Thanksgiving function. I wasn't going to do that.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I had to borrow from my father's broadcasting career.
- 9:13Speaker 1: He would talk about those that would spike the football
- 9:16Speaker 1: and perform after scoring touchdowns. And Dad would always say,
- 9:20Speaker 1: act like you've been in the end zone before, and
- 9:23Speaker 1: so that I think is good wisdom for life. Are
- 9:26Speaker 1: you excited, Kat? Are you apprehensive when we last talked.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I mean, it's a little bit of the business as
- 9:32Speaker 1: usual with the committee stuff, but big picture broadly, are
- 9:36Speaker 1: you excited about what's coming January twentieth and moving forward?
- 9:40Speaker 2: My gosh, yeh. I mean, I know that so many
- 9:44Speaker 2: people are ready to turn the page. I know Democrats
- 9:46Speaker 2: that are ready to turn the page, and that's being
- 9:49Speaker 2: reflected in the House cleaning that the Democrats are doing
- 9:53Speaker 2: right now. There's a great article this morning in punchbul
- 9:57Speaker 2: which for folks, if you guys don't read Punchable, I
- 9:58Speaker 2: highly recommend it. Kind of gives you an idea of
- 10:01Speaker 2: what the hell is happening in Washington on most days.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It has a liberal plan to it, but it's good information.
- 10:09Speaker 2: It's us preparing to mark nearly two hundred and fifty
- 10:14Speaker 2: years of American exceptionalism, and it is our once in
- 10:19Speaker 2: a lifetime, not generation, but I feel once in a
- 10:22Speaker 2: lifetime opportunity to give the American people a chance at
- 10:28Speaker 2: another two hundred and fifty years, we have the chance
- 10:32Speaker 2: to do such incredible structural reforms and write the ship
- 10:38Speaker 2: that if we mess this up, I don't think any
- 10:40Speaker 2: of us would ever have We would never be able
- 10:43Speaker 2: to lay our head down at night knowing that we
- 10:45Speaker 2: blew the opportunity we have a before us. So I
- 10:49Speaker 2: am very very excited. I'm the eternal optimist, so I'm
- 10:52Speaker 2: always looking for the hopeful side of it. Of Course,
- 10:56Speaker 2: the realist in me also saying, you know you that
- 11:00Speaker 2: has happened before, where the swamp creatures get their way,
- 11:02Speaker 2: But we actually have a team, and we have we
- 11:05Speaker 2: have the players in place to be able to make
- 11:07Speaker 2: transform transformative change that will survive beyond my lifetime.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Certainly, if I were to ask you of the nominees
- 11:17Speaker 1: of the major offices, we don't need to go into
- 11:20Speaker 1: the weeds, but the big offices in the cabinet for
- 11:22Speaker 1: Donald Trump as.
- 11:23Speaker 2: President, I and maybe it's just because he's on he's
- 11:28Speaker 2: top of mind. I was talking to him last night.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Cash Ptel Cash as FBI director is going to be
- 11:35Speaker 2: a hammer. He is going to be ruthless. And I
- 11:39Speaker 2: mean that in a good way.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Yep.
- 11:40Speaker 2: When you have the FBI Washington, DC Office giving directives
- 11:47Speaker 2: to rank and file agents to sit in parking lots
- 11:51Speaker 2: at PTA meetings and write parents' license plates down, or
- 11:55Speaker 2: you're having them go into churches, Catholic churches because they
- 12:01Speaker 2: think that the Catholic Church has become radicalized. When you
- 12:04Speaker 2: have the FBI giving directives like that to weaponize the
- 12:08Speaker 2: agency against the people that they are sworn to protect,
- 12:11Speaker 2: you know you have a very big problem. And I
- 12:15Speaker 2: know Cash, he is a no nonsense BS kind of guy.
- 12:19Speaker 2: He will get in there and he with no regard
- 12:22Speaker 2: to himself and his reputation or anything like that, he
- 12:26Speaker 2: doesn't care. He knows what he has to get in
- 12:28Speaker 2: there and do, and so I think that is going
- 12:31Speaker 2: to be critically important. And knowing some of the agents
- 12:34Speaker 2: that have been retaliated against that came forward to us
- 12:37Speaker 2: on the Weaponization Committee as whistleblowers who have been denied
- 12:42Speaker 2: any sort of justice or coming forward and are still
- 12:48Speaker 2: being retaliated against today, that brings me great joy. I
- 12:52Speaker 2: think Pam Boondi will do a great job. Someone who
- 12:56Speaker 2: I'm really really excited about is doctor j Botic and
- 13:01Speaker 2: he has been tapped to lead NIH. And I know
- 13:04Speaker 2: you said, Majors, and I'm going to consider this a
- 13:06Speaker 2: major one because when you think about what the NIH
- 13:09Speaker 2: has done, not just in terms of how much money
- 13:12Speaker 2: that they have wasted a ridiculous experiments like does cocaine
- 13:17Speaker 2: make you know, Japanese quail frisky? Like come on, give
- 13:21Speaker 2: me a break? That is that is not an experiment
- 13:23Speaker 2: that taxpairs me to fund, yep, But in terms of
- 13:28Speaker 2: the dangers of what NIH has funded in the past,
- 13:33Speaker 2: and we know that to be true. The COVID report
- 13:36Speaker 2: just came out, I think yesterday, and the devastation that
- 13:41Speaker 2: it caused, the funding that was responsible for that. That
- 13:45Speaker 2: is critical, But you also have to realize that we're
- 13:48Speaker 2: living in a time where NIH has now forced universities
- 13:55Speaker 2: and researchers and scientists to produce results they don't have
- 14:00Speaker 2: to prove are replicable. They just have to be peer reviewed.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And then you get into the peer review stuff and
- 14:06Speaker 2: you realize how political it is, and these scientists have
- 14:09Speaker 2: to pay to get their journals published, and it leads
- 14:14Speaker 2: to bad science, and we're spending billions of dollars of
- 14:18Speaker 2: taxpayer money on chasing down these studies that aren't actually real,
- 14:24Speaker 2: some of them have actually been proven to be falsified,
- 14:28Speaker 2: and then those studies then become the adopted public policy
- 14:32Speaker 2: that CDC takes and says, this is what we're going
- 14:34Speaker 2: to do. Well, that's not healthcare, that's not public health.
- 14:38Speaker 2: That's politics, and it's really a system that has to
- 14:42Speaker 2: be broke. If we're going to get back to a
- 14:44Speaker 2: place where the relationships for your personal health care is
- 14:48Speaker 2: between you and your doctor, not insurance company, if we're
- 14:50Speaker 2: going to change the culture from preventative men from maintenance
- 14:54Speaker 2: to preventative medicine and actually change it to healthcare instead
- 14:58Speaker 2: of perpetuating sick care. It starts with Nih and doctor Bodicharia.
- 15:03Speaker 2: He is someone who I've known for several years now.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I've met with him several times, and he is a
- 15:09Speaker 2: common sense, data back, science driven, question the science hatriot.
- 15:15Speaker 2: He really believes in it. And I'm just I'm so
- 15:19Speaker 2: grateful that President Trump is taking a chance on him
- 15:23Speaker 2: because this is going to be the cornerstone in the
- 15:26Speaker 2: moment where we look back fifty years from now and
- 15:29Speaker 2: we have all these cures and all these things, and
- 15:31Speaker 2: it's because this man was willing to set aside a
- 15:34Speaker 2: very prestigious career and do something for his country. And
- 15:38Speaker 2: so I think he's one of the ones that I'm
- 15:40Speaker 2: most excited about.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And maybe we'll learn the truth about what happened during COVID,
- 15:44Speaker 1: and that would be mind numbing in and of itself. Kat,
- 15:47Speaker 1: We got to leave it there. Merry Christmas to you
- 15:49Speaker 1: and your family, nothing but the best as we moved
- 15:51Speaker 1: to the new year, and I look forward to our
- 15:52Speaker 1: visit come January.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Absolutely, Mary, Christmas, everybody
