Transcript
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, present at myginjag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Deluggo, a little bit of a late episode here today.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Why is that?
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: The hunt episode three just premiered on the Jaguar's YouTube channel.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you have not watched that, go check it out.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Come back here.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: We've got instant reactions to the hunt episode three, which was all about the Iron Jaguar Games.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: Very interesting concept that Eric Cihanna, new strength and conditioning coach, really, his title is the director of Strength and Conditioning, came up with.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jack Wars, they felt upon the new structure, triumvirant at the top of the organization, kind of coming together, they felt that they needed to make a big change at Strength and Conditioning.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, out with the old,
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: And with the net and Eric Siano is the new strength and conditioning director or coach.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: He was in Buffalo before and Liam Cohen was on the hunt talked about, you know, what was so appealing
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: from his resume, to his interview, and Cohen talked about how he viewed the bills as a team that have been able to stay healthy.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: They've been able to stay physical.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: They've been strong and they've been tough.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: And everybody in Buffalo kind of feels like Eric Siano brings those things to his program, right?
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: And it was his deal to come in and do this Iron Jack Wars game.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't, when I first heard about it, I didn't really know what to think, right?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: It sounded a little corny in my opinion, but I think overall, my opinion doesn't matter on that subject.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was about, does the team buy in?
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it seemed like the team absolutely bought in in a big way.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: And it wasn't just the Iron Jaguar games, right?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the culture of work that Siano brought in and FOIA talked about.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: He said after the very first day, he knew what it was all about with Siano.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: And after last year, the way things kind of went on and off the field, the guys are ready to work.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Do we Winger had said that it is the hardest off season that he's been through by far?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: Also shout out to Do We Were in a Zeppelin shirt in the Iron Jaguar draft.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: So the way they put this together, I thought was pretty cool.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: They had captains and lutenants for one, two, three, four, five, six, seven different teams.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're one, two, three, four, five, six teams.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Do We Wingard, Eric Murray, Captain Andrew Wingard,
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Lieutenant Eric Murray, Captain Logan Cook, Lieutenant George Lewis, Captain Daniel Savage, Lieutenant Johnny Munt, Captain FOIA Luke and Lieutenant Chima Doga, Captain Eric arms dead.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Lieutenant Fred Johnson, Captain Josh Heinz Allen, Lieutenant Patrick McCary, and the way they put these captains and latinants together was all about.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: veteran leadership, it was about oftentimes pairing up a veteran with the team, with a veteran that was brought in and for agency.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what you see with these team competition or composition with Captain Lieutenant, and then they had a draft.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: And the draft was really competitive, which was pretty cool to see.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: They're all in the team meeting room.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: The captain's in latinants, they're strategizing, they're talking smack, they're having a good time.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: Based on that, it appeared that the most important players on the team from a leadership standpoint, which are the veterans, were bought in to this offseason program.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it went really well.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen feels like in a portion of the football calendar where you're not really allowed to have super intense competition on the field during practice that they were able to steal some competition during a time period where you really can't generate that on the field.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: So they feel like it was a resounding success.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like based on the way guys were bought in and competing that it was a success.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that's pretty cool.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Something I haven't seen here in Jacksonville, right?
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: And this concept with Eric Siano, he said it's all about team building, building a competitive atmosphere, which obviously that's what Liam Cohen loved about it the most, finding out who the leaders are.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: looking at mental toughness and daily habits for performance, right?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: So looking at these guys, Ciano and company are kind of able to figure out a lot about who's bought in and it seems like most of the team, if not all of the team was very bought in based on how competitive these
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: different events were.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: And they had a bunch of different events.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of them had to do a strength.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: But there was some that, you know, having some DBs helped out when they were pushing the light sled.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: Having lighter guys helped out when you're trying to just do bar hangs, right?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of it was about strength.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: And no big surprise.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: Trayvon Walker was the first pick.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Shocker, right?
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: The guy who is the first overall pick in the NFL draft.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: Big time recruit out of high school.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: unbelievable athlete, unbelievable strength.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: He was the first pick and his team did not win.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Boyle Luke and his team won and he started off with drafting linebackers.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: He went Devon Lloyd and Chad Mooma back to back, which I love to see that from from FOA because he is such a leader.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: He really is.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's been a leader since the day he stepped in the building and
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: I always talk about this, but a couple of years back veterans given off of mandatory mini camp because Doug Peterson was happy with the participation and what they were able to get done prior to mandatory mini camp.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: And foyer Luke and the only veteran he sticks around and he's like, you know, I want to be here for my my linebacker room.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be here for my teammates and that's just one example of his leadership.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: But I thought it was cool seeing him like go go get his linebackers and then Chuma doga.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: wanted to go get some offensive lineman.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: They also got Mason Smith who was kind of their ace up their sleeve in the tug of war.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: They put him up front and nobody could kind of manage that strength.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: Basin Smith is an athlete.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's a hell of a hell of a specimen.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that was pretty cool to see all that, all the competition that they were able to generate out there.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: It was interesting not seeing much of Travis Hunter in this episode till the end.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: They started showing some highlights from camp, mandatory mini camp and all that good stuff.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: And you saw Travis Hunter making some plays on both sides of the ball.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll be team making some plays.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: And these are all things that we've already seen and reported on.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: These mandatory mini camp things.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: It was still good to close out the episode with some actual football.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: And now we are less than a week away from training camp, really getting kicked off, rookies and veterans and all that reporting.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: veterans report on on Tuesday and we get out on the practice field on Wednesday.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: I believe practice starts at eight fifteen pretty early.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited about that.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: Get out there on the practice field and and see what these guys have to offer and Liam Cohen talked about at the very end.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: It is all about
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Coming back in the best shape, you can possibly come back in so you can hit the ground running.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: You're not having to hit the reset button at all.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: You're able to just go, go, go in training camp and really push things forward.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what his expectation is for these guys.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be interesting to kind of monitor that as we get out on the field and see how good of a shape this team looks like it's in, how quickly are they able to hit the ground running.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously pads will not be on immediately.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: Right, but the second week you'll start to see some pads.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: I believe the Jaguars put out what the first day of pads is.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember off the top of my head right now, but that's going to be really fascinating.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: I thought this was a fun episode.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was a different episode.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: We've never seen anything like this, right?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: It was a different sort of competition offseason program.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Does Eric Siano does this new strength and conditioning program?
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Does it make a big difference?
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Do you see a team that gets less injured?
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: That looks like they're in better shape?
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's not only getting these guys stronger, like they were extremely strong last year, but they weren't in their best football shape because they were like overly big.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of them, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: So it's about getting them in their best possible shape
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: to be effective on the football field.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: And it's on the football coaching staff.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's on these training additioning staff.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: to get that done.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it's on the players to get that done.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited to see if there's some guys that look like they're just in a lot better football shape this year with this new regime and new strength thing, a distinct thing, a distinct thing, a distinct director.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's what this is all about.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's what this episode was all about.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: And also, a lot of free agents signed, right?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: Establishing some camaraderie, some chemistry, culture,
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: Logan Cook feels like they're doing that pretty organically.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so Logan Cook's been around a lot of football teams with Jaguars here, and gonna be fun to see.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly, how this ends up playing out.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: We are less than a week away from training camp.
