- 0:25Speaker 1: my journey. I'm not gonna kid you. Trying to make
- 0:30Speaker 1: something about yourself is a task. If you want to
- 0:36Speaker 1: attempt to do something, and and and understand going in
- 0:42Speaker 1: that that the if the thing you're trying to do
- 0:45Speaker 1: is to improve yourself, to better your position, to better
- 0:50Speaker 1: your relationship, your family, anything, You're trying to be a
- 0:54Speaker 1: better you. You're trying to make more money, you're trying
- 0:59Speaker 1: to get it together, you trying to change if any
- 1:04Speaker 1: of those things are in your hopes and dreams. Know
- 1:09Speaker 1: this right here, you are about to face some challenges.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But you might as well go ahead anyway and face
- 1:18Speaker 1: those challenges, because if you don't, you have a.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Whole other set of challenges to face. You know.
- 1:24Speaker 1: It's an amazing thing, man, how people sit around and
- 1:29Speaker 1: they watch other people strike out to become successful. They
- 1:33Speaker 1: sit in the stands watching these people play out these games,
- 1:37Speaker 1: and they and they, and they criticize, they boo, they
- 1:40Speaker 1: laugh at their efforts and everything, and they talk about
- 1:44Speaker 1: the failse he missed that game when he shot boy
- 1:47Speaker 1: he suck man, he did this. He ain't worth that.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I hear people who sit in stands who criticize people
- 1:57Speaker 1: who are out there on the playing field. Now, when
- 2:01Speaker 1: you're on the playing field, you have a set of
- 2:05Speaker 1: challenges in front of you. You're going to be open
- 2:07Speaker 1: to criticism, You're going to be open to ridicule. You're
- 2:12Speaker 1: going to be talked about when you don't know the
- 2:14Speaker 1: people who are talking about you. Now, here's the upside
- 2:22Speaker 1: to being the player on the field that's facing all
- 2:26Speaker 1: the challenges, to criticisms, the laughing, the joke, to being
- 2:30Speaker 1: talked about. He has something going for him. This person, boy, woman, child, girl,
- 2:39Speaker 1: man has an opportunity to win. They have an opportunity
- 2:46Speaker 1: to win. And in the game of life, just because
- 2:51Speaker 1: you lose one of the games or you lose one
- 2:54Speaker 1: of the matches, it don't mean you've lost. You don't
- 2:58Speaker 1: get put out. Keep playing. And when you're playing, here's
- 3:04Speaker 1: the upside. You have the opportunity to win. But guess what,
- 3:08Speaker 1: you're gonna win some of the matches. You're gonna win
- 3:11Speaker 1: some of the points. You're gonna make some of the dunks.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You're gonna hit some of them over the wall. You're
- 3:15Speaker 1: gonna hit some out the park. You're gonna score some goals.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You will if you're playing the game. Here's the problem
- 3:24Speaker 1: with the people who don't face criticism, who nobody boos
- 3:29Speaker 1: or cheers for, who sits in the stands and knows
- 3:34Speaker 1: neither victory nor defeat. Those people, without realizing it, are
- 3:42Speaker 1: facing a set of challenges also. And the challenges they're
- 3:46Speaker 1: facing is how I'm gonna live with myself?
- 3:51Speaker 2: What I'm gonna do? Now?
- 3:55Speaker 1: What direction am I going in? Where am I live?
- 4:02Speaker 1: Wonder what job will hire me? Wonder if I can
- 4:08Speaker 1: get paid for criticizing?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Ah, woe is me?
- 4:14Speaker 1: I can't find the purpose in my life. And man,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm just waking up in a state of confusion. I
- 4:21Speaker 1: don't know what to do. Now, let me ask you something,
- 4:25Speaker 1: which one of them set the challenges you'd rather be
- 4:28Speaker 1: faced with? Because if I'm on the flow playing, if
- 4:32Speaker 1: I'm on the field playing, if I'm out on the
- 4:34Speaker 1: court playing, then guess what I got a chance at winning.
- 4:39Speaker 1: But guess what I'm doing every day while I'm playing.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm strategizing. I'm waking up with a purpose. I'm waking
- 4:46Speaker 1: up trying to come up with another angle. I'm in
- 4:50Speaker 1: pursuit of a goal every single day. Versus the people
- 4:57Speaker 1: in the stands who know neither victory nor defeat.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Get in the game, face the challenges.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Better yourself, better your wife, better your children, better your condition,
- 5:13Speaker 1: better your employment status, better your job, better your career.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Take a shot. Come on, man, what you waiting on?
- 5:20Speaker 1: Because the alternative is to watch other people play the game?
- 5:26Speaker 2: You know what I just do? Sometimes sometimes I just I.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Get Forbes magazine or Money magazine, or sometimes I still
- 5:33Speaker 1: grab a copy of the rob Report.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I just flip through it just to see. I used
- 5:39Speaker 2: to get this book called Unique Homes.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Unique Homes is a magazine that just has a lot
- 5:45Speaker 1: of extravagant houses that's on sale.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Across the country, across the world. I used to flip through.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Man, let me just see, man, what the people that's
- 5:54Speaker 1: playing the game out there doing. Stop watching other people
- 5:58Speaker 1: become successful when you could very easily be you if
- 6:02Speaker 1: you make the decision. But when you make the decision
- 6:05Speaker 1: to become successful, get ready for a series of challenges.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I think it's more difficult not to accept the challenge.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I think it's for me. This is just for me.
- 6:16Speaker 1: It may not be the case for you. For me,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I think it's far more difficult to wake up and
- 6:21Speaker 1: just see how life gonna go today, because man, it
- 6:23Speaker 1: could just deal you any kind of hand today. You
- 6:27Speaker 1: understand I don't like, you know, spades. Let's talk a
- 6:33Speaker 1: card game, for example, the game of spades. Really, man,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it ain't a whole lot you can do if you
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't get no spades. Really, it's a little couple of
- 6:41Speaker 1: little strategies you're gonna do. But you can have all
- 6:44Speaker 1: this age, king, queen, diamond all you want. But man,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you ain't got no spades. They cutting them. You're in trouble.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Be it.
- 6:50Speaker 1: With different game. You can create what's in your hand.
- 6:55Speaker 1: You got dealt a hand too, But you can create
- 6:58Speaker 1: a hand. You can call a trump. You can make
- 7:01Speaker 1: diamonds your spades. You can make hard to clubs your spades.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. You can do something with it. It's
- 7:08Speaker 1: a different game, man, You can strategize. I would rather
- 7:11Speaker 1: have a say so in my life than to wake
- 7:13Speaker 1: up every day and just see how it's going. I
- 7:16Speaker 1: think it's more difficult to not accept the challenge to
- 7:19Speaker 1: be something than it is to accept the challenge to
- 7:22Speaker 1: be something. I think it's more difficult to sit around
- 7:25Speaker 1: and not be nothing. I think it's harder to watch
- 7:28Speaker 1: everybody in life going somewhere but mine. I think it
- 7:31Speaker 1: would be very difficult for me to sit here and
- 7:33Speaker 1: hear them talking about other people that never mentioned my name.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It would be difficult for me to see everybody rise
- 7:39Speaker 1: and getting promotions accept me. That would be difficult for me.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It may not be for you, but for me it
- 7:45Speaker 1: would be quite challenging. I would rather accept the challenge
- 7:48Speaker 1: of making something out of my life than to sit
- 7:51Speaker 1: there and criticize those and then watch and see how
- 7:55Speaker 1: my life just may go.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Okay, just a thought today listening to the Steve Harvey
- 8:01Speaker 2: Morning Show
