- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KF I
- 0:04Speaker 1: am six forty.
- 0:10Speaker 2: She would help me take my pants off, really weird
- 0:13Speaker 2: the doctor. And I said, so where do I put this?
- 0:16Speaker 2: He said, on the peg over there, next to my pants. Okay,
- 0:21Speaker 2: all right, we're off to Star darting.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Is that a promo?
- 0:25Speaker 1: By the way, And now handle on the news, ladies
- 0:30Speaker 1: and gentlemen.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Here's Bill Handle. It is a Thursday morning, April sixteenth.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Good morning everybody, Handle and the morning crew, as we're almost.
- 0:44Speaker 3: To the end of the week.
- 0:45Speaker 2: And let me just say a quick one here before
- 0:49Speaker 2: we get started. Kno, there you are, good morning, sitting
- 0:53Speaker 2: at the driver's seat. Then Neil, there you are, Morgan,
- 0:59Speaker 2: good Morgan to you. And Will Coles Riber, good morning, sir. Hello,
- 1:03Speaker 2: and and there you are here, good morning. Oh you
- 1:07Speaker 2: gotta mute there and Amy yes.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Good morning. Okay, this morning and tomorrow.
- 1:13Speaker 2: What we are going to do is have you promote
- 1:17Speaker 2: and pitch something else sneering dear your heart.
- 1:20Speaker 3: And there are two things. The thing Number one is
- 1:24Speaker 3: uh uh the piggly wiggly waggly woke.
- 1:29Speaker 4: It's the wiggle waggle walk.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that one too, And so we'll be talking about
- 1:36Speaker 2: that and people can donate, and you want people to
- 1:38Speaker 2: walk with you too, Absolutely do they do.
- 1:41Speaker 3: They bring their their dogs.
- 1:42Speaker 4: With them, Yes, they do. And if you don't have
- 1:44Speaker 4: a dog, you can still walk. But yeah, tons of
- 1:47Speaker 4: people come out and hundreds and hundreds of people bring
- 1:49Speaker 4: their dogs. It's such a great day.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Well that is I'm gonna I think, uh, I think
- 1:52Speaker 2: Lindsay's gonna come. Uh and she, well, she has to.
- 1:56Speaker 2: We have to dig the dogs out of the closet.
- 1:59Speaker 2: They're in box, is uh And so I was just
- 2:02Speaker 2: going to come carry the box.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, just the dead Ones and uh yeah radio.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, I don't.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Know if well, certainly Neil was around. Do you guys
- 2:16Speaker 2: remember when Rich Maratta was part of the morning crew
- 2:19Speaker 2: and he uh he was our sports guy, you remember,
- 2:22Speaker 2: but I don't know if the rest of you remember Rich. Anyway,
- 2:24Speaker 2: he retired and uh, Rich had this dog, Henry, who
- 2:29Speaker 2: was more important to him than his wife was, which.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Is not unusual.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And Henry unfortunately died, uh and it died of old age.
- 2:38Speaker 2: So it was a pretty good life. And so I
- 2:41Speaker 2: call Rich just to see how he's doing. And you know,
- 2:44Speaker 2: I did that for a few years after the show,
- 2:46Speaker 2: and he said, I'm taking Henry for a walk. And
- 2:50Speaker 2: I said, excuse me, because I'm taking Henry for a walk. Well,
- 2:53Speaker 2: Rich lived on a golf course will Does up in Reno,
- 2:58Speaker 2: and he would walk around the golf course with Henry
- 3:01Speaker 2: every day.
- 3:02Speaker 3: That was his walk.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And after Henry died and was in a box, he
- 3:06Speaker 2: would literally literally carry the box with him around the
- 3:10Speaker 2: golf course, taking Henry for a walk.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Wow, I can't wait till Lindsay does that with you.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Oh, exactly.
- 3:20Speaker 2: We have five you know, we have five dogs on
- 3:23Speaker 2: a shelf.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And she wanted she wanted to put the dogs on
- 3:27Speaker 3: a shelf in the living room.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And I said to her, if you think you're gonna
- 3:30Speaker 2: put boxes of dead dogs in the living room on
- 3:33Speaker 2: a shelf, you are out of your mind. So she
- 3:38Speaker 2: has her own little wellness room and she can keep
- 3:41Speaker 2: boxes of dogs. And she said, you know we're gonna
- 3:43Speaker 2: have I'm gonna have a box for you, you know,
- 3:45Speaker 2: right next to all the other boxes.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Like, well, yeah, I absolutely, yeah, I think you are.
- 3:50Speaker 1: It's gonna look like the ending scene of Raiders of
- 3:52Speaker 1: the Lost Arc when they're just all these boxes up
- 3:57Speaker 1: to the ceiling, a lot of boxes.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, that's basically it for what's new in the world.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And once again Amy and I are not going to
- 4:09Speaker 2: be here Monday because we're going to do our We're
- 4:10Speaker 2: going to be on a date and I'm very excited
- 4:14Speaker 2: she is taking me to Disneyland because I've been talking
- 4:18Speaker 2: so much about Disney in sort of a negative way.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Although I love Disney. The only thing I bitch about,
- 4:22Speaker 2: frankly are the weights. And that's coming from a history
- 4:26Speaker 2: of not waiting at all.
- 4:28Speaker 3: As I've said many times years ago.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's still memories still are there one hundred
- 4:34Speaker 2: years ago.
- 4:35Speaker 3: You know, they're they're going.
- 4:37Speaker 4: To have a great time Disney and we're going to
- 4:39Speaker 4: get you good food. We're going to go on. It's
- 4:42Speaker 4: going to be so much fun. And Willie so no,
- 4:47Speaker 4: thank you very much.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Well I believe, yeah, no, I totally believe I'm going
- 4:54Speaker 2: to have a good time. Well, it used to be
- 4:56Speaker 2: when I was a kid, and I'm talking about a
- 4:59Speaker 2: lot of years ago. Uh, Andy, the Disneyland was fairly new.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I mean, it was the most exciting day of my
- 5:08Speaker 2: year when we knew we were going to Disneyland. Uh,
- 5:10Speaker 2: you know two months ahead. I couldn't sleep tonight before
- 5:14Speaker 2: I was so excited.
- 5:16Speaker 4: And so that's still happening for kids around the world
- 5:18Speaker 4: every night.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, get your Oswald the Lucky Rabbit ears, you'll have
- 5:26Speaker 1: a good time.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Oh, we got to get you some mirrors.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Are you guys park copy, yep?
- 5:31Speaker 3: Are we White Park? Oh Park?
- 5:34Speaker 4: You've ever been to Disney California Adventure, then have you?
- 5:37Speaker 4: Because if I have, so, it's been okay. I thought
- 5:40Speaker 4: you said just when.
- 5:42Speaker 2: It opened and the only ride worth of dam was
- 5:45Speaker 2: Soaring over California at that time.
- 5:47Speaker 4: That is still there and it's still spectacular, and now
- 5:49Speaker 4: there's more.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You would we would soaring over California as you're literally soaring,
- 5:56Speaker 2: and it's terrific ride. And then you it used to
- 5:59Speaker 2: be pass orange groves and the scent of oranges would
- 6:03Speaker 2: come into the room or come into the ride, and
- 6:08Speaker 2: then you would go past the cemetery.
- 6:11Speaker 4: And cemetery there was no cemetery.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Really flies in La now and you can smell the
- 6:19Speaker 1: urine and the feces.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Especially at the metro stations.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah, fantastic. You can see robberies happening again.
- 6:26Speaker 4: And it flies over the valley.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, what is the soaring over what? And I
- 6:30Speaker 2: know they did as soaring internationally for a while.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Well it was soaring around the world and then they
- 6:35Speaker 4: bring sore and over California, soaring around California or throwing
- 6:38Speaker 4: over California back. But I know they're bringing it back.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I was googling it to see if it has started again.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Also, it's a real foody place now and oh.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Yeah, oh, we're going to feed you good bill.
- 6:52Speaker 3: As a matter of.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Fact, until the twenty seventh, the wine, the food and
- 6:58Speaker 1: Wine Festival is still going on at California Adventure, So
- 7:00Speaker 1: they have special kiosks set up with food around right.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Oh dog.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and my daughter is coming, Pamela, who let's just
- 7:12Speaker 2: say she u does not hesitate to take a sip
- 7:15Speaker 2: or two of the libation, and she is going to
- 7:18Speaker 2: be falling down drunk. I'm going to be dragging her
- 7:24Speaker 2: like a cadaver dog, you know, those cadaver dogs.
- 7:28Speaker 1: So she drinks while she's smoking pot or what.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yeah, she does. Yeah, it's true.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I've always thought about those cadaver dogs, and they actually
- 7:35Speaker 2: are live dogs, which I've always wondered. I always thought
- 7:38Speaker 2: cadaver dogs were just dead dogs you dragged on a leash.
- 7:41Speaker 3: But I'm wrong on that. Okay, are you guys ready
- 7:43Speaker 3: to do it? Yes?
- 7:44Speaker 4: Oh and by the way, it is soaring over California
- 7:46Speaker 4: now through July second.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Okay, guys, is time for handle on the news. Amy
- 7:54Speaker 2: Neil and me lead story. Take a Master in a
- 7:59Speaker 2: lot Nation got nailed in a courtroom in New York
- 8:06Speaker 2: and it's the jury said that yep, particularly Ticketmaster way
- 8:11Speaker 2: overcharged and effectively and literally had a monopoly. Of course
- 8:15Speaker 2: they said, oh no, no, we don't have a monopoly.
- 8:19Speaker 2: We compete with other with all these other venues and
- 8:25Speaker 2: ticket brokers. Yeah, they're ten times bigger than the next
- 8:29Speaker 2: biggest one. And so it didn't take long for the
- 8:32Speaker 2: jury to figure it out. So now the judge has
- 8:35Speaker 2: to determine how it's going to pay, what the renewnerration
- 8:39Speaker 2: is going to be, because Ticketmaster controls well you want
- 8:44Speaker 2: to see somebody and anybody of note, Ticketmaster controls it.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I just want to let you.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Know, bands have been complaining about the Pearl Jam complained
- 8:56Speaker 1: about this for decades.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, that's right, because you have certain bands that
- 9:03Speaker 2: just refuse to overcharge.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I think Bruce.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Springfield, spring spring Seek, I know, I know that. I
- 9:11Speaker 2: just there's another Springfield out there, Rocket Risk. Yeah, I
- 9:14Speaker 2: know who no one pays attention to. But I've always
- 9:17Speaker 2: conslated the two, and he wants people to pay a
- 9:21Speaker 2: reasonable amount of money for his concerts. So anyway, you're
- 9:25Speaker 2: going to see some big doings and they're going to
- 9:28Speaker 2: change the way they do business. And certainly, and if
- 9:33Speaker 2: there's refunds available, I don't know what the judge is going.
- 9:35Speaker 4: To say, but before that happens, they're going to appeal.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, They've got a lot going on.
- 9:41Speaker 2: They're not going to take this one lying down.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Getting closer, but are we getting anywhere? Key Pakistani mediator
- 9:50Speaker 4: says they've made a breakthrough on some sticky issues between
- 9:55Speaker 4: the US and Iran that have boosted hopes that they
- 10:00Speaker 4: Iran War may soon come to an end, but Iran
- 10:04Speaker 4: has warned that the fate of its nuclear program has
- 10:06Speaker 4: not been resolved, and of course that's one of the
- 10:08Speaker 4: biggest issues out there, So the nuclear ambitions and also
- 10:12Speaker 4: the Strait of horror moves.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, they haven't gotten very far, but at least Iran
- 10:17Speaker 2: is willing to sit down now. Whether anything happens as
- 10:21Speaker 2: a result of that, Iran can go on forever because
- 10:26Speaker 2: the people have no say. It's the regime. In the
- 10:29Speaker 2: United States. There is some political fallout if this war
- 10:34Speaker 2: continues on for months, or negotiations continue on for months.
- 10:38Speaker 2: There are one or two Republican congress people that are
- 10:41Speaker 2: going to go and Senator are going to go. Ah,
- 10:43Speaker 2: this isn't such a good idea because no one runs
- 10:46Speaker 2: for office in Iran.
- 10:48Speaker 1: All right, LA sucks and we can prove it. UCLA
- 10:53Speaker 1: Luskin Summit put out this report, and we here in
- 11:01Speaker 1: Los Angeles think the quality of life is at a
- 11:03Speaker 1: record low, so says this report came out yesterday, the
- 11:08Speaker 1: twenty twenty six Los Angeles County Quality of Life Index
- 11:12Speaker 1: found the overall score dropped to a record low of
- 11:15Speaker 1: fifty two, with six of the nine categories measured reaching
- 11:21Speaker 1: their lowest levels on record, an eight showing year over
- 11:24Speaker 1: year decline. So among the lowest in the survey, we're education,
- 11:28Speaker 1: of course, transportation, and cost of living. The crazy thing
- 11:34Speaker 1: here is, you know we have the lowest rating with education.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Yet not only did we just skate by one strike,
- 11:47Speaker 1: but now they're looking at the UC system going on.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So, oh yeah, it's all crazy.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm doing this story at seven point fifty where we
- 11:56Speaker 2: go through the list of how difficult it is to
- 11:59Speaker 2: live in southern California, particularly LA.
- 12:02Speaker 3: And I'll continue that discussion.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Through the end of the show tomorrow because there's a
- 12:07Speaker 2: fair amount to talk about in terms of l a.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Rough place to live in southern California.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Trump really wants to say, you're fired again. President Trump
- 12:22Speaker 4: says in a TV interview that he will not drop
- 12:26Speaker 4: the investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, and also
- 12:33Speaker 4: threatened to fire Powell if he doesn't resign when his
- 12:36Speaker 4: term as chair ends this month. Technically, he can stay
- 12:39Speaker 4: on if he wants, and he has said I have
- 12:40Speaker 4: no intention of resigning, but Trump wants him out. So
- 12:43Speaker 4: Trump said, okay, well, then we'll just have to fire him.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, except that the law does allow to fire him.
- 12:50Speaker 2: But what the hell? Yeah, there's that. I mean, the
- 12:53Speaker 2: law sort of gets that pesky the whole series, those
- 12:56Speaker 2: pesky laws.
- 12:57Speaker 1: And you're so hung up, I know, because you're a lawyer. Yeah,
- 13:02Speaker 1: all right, speaking of law enforcement and information. Until last
- 13:08Speaker 1: year around December or so when any immigrant that was
- 13:12Speaker 1: in US detention centers when they died, you had Immigration
- 13:18Speaker 1: and Customs enforcement put together like a package. It's like
- 13:22Speaker 1: this very detailed three page report. They broke down the circumstances,
- 13:26Speaker 1: the number of detainee deaths, all that, you know, those
- 13:29Speaker 1: types of things, what happened where they were in custody,
- 13:32Speaker 1: all this stuff detailed. Well, those reports have been cut
- 13:37Speaker 1: to a four paragraph summary. So we're told the policy changed,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and what would happen in a quick turnaround now instead
- 13:48Speaker 1: of the two days of detainee's death when they would
- 13:51Speaker 1: normally come out. Now, then within ninety days they'll get
- 13:55Speaker 1: a report of these smaller following the paragraph things and
- 14:00Speaker 1: this detember.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Yeah, well they're changing it again.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I'm looking at one of these reports and there it
- 14:06Speaker 2: is HEYESUS Rodriguez dead.
- 14:10Speaker 3: That's the that's the little yes, there is a report.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Yeah wow, yeah, that's a little thin.
- 14:18Speaker 5: Uh.
- 14:18Speaker 4: These sailing ships were apparently up to something rather sneaky.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Norwegian Cruise Line has agreed to pay two million dollars
- 14:27Speaker 4: to a dozen states in the US following an investigation
- 14:31Speaker 4: during the that started during the pandemic. Consumers say that
- 14:36Speaker 4: NCL Norwegian Cruise Line implemented unfair policies regarding future credits
- 14:42Speaker 4: and refunds associated with cruises canceled as a result of
- 14:46Speaker 4: the COVID nineteen pandemic. Remember when in the whole world
- 14:49Speaker 4: shut down and cruises were one of them. So yep,
- 14:53Speaker 4: they apparently were a little sneaky on the whole.
- 14:56Speaker 3: But it what's two million dollars?
- 14:57Speaker 4: I mean, you know that, I was like two millions, said.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's you know, coins in the couch money.
- 15:03Speaker 2: But I'm wondering how many people are actually going to
- 15:06Speaker 2: file lawsuits customers, And according to this story, between twenty
- 15:12Speaker 2: twenty and twenty twenty five, I had issued more than
- 15:15Speaker 2: three billion dollars in refunds. So we'll see what the
- 15:18Speaker 2: numbers are if they're really small, and they don't seem
- 15:20Speaker 2: to be very big with a two million dollar settlement,
- 15:25Speaker 2: the merry go.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Round of all the Trump stuff, whether it's Iran or
- 15:30Speaker 1: Epstein files.
- 15:32Speaker 2: You remember the tariffs, No, I've completely forgotten about the tariffs,
- 15:36Speaker 2: says I look savile, and I wright writing these checks
- 15:39Speaker 2: that are just insane to the government. But it's like
- 15:42Speaker 2: it's weird. Stuff goes to the back burner, and then
- 15:44Speaker 2: it comes to the front again. If you remember, there
- 15:47Speaker 2: was some hubbub again that stinking law business. So the
- 15:50Speaker 2: Trump administration is expected to start accepting claims next week
- 15:55Speaker 2: for refunds dealing with those tariffs President Trump called collected illegally. Right.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Court said that those were illegal tariffs because the President
- 16:05Speaker 2: didn't have the authority to wake up one morning and go,
- 16:08Speaker 2: let's do some tariffs. Turns out that Congress has to
- 16:12Speaker 2: do that. Now. I don't even want no way bothered
- 16:13Speaker 2: because Mike Johnson would make absolutely sure he had the
- 16:16Speaker 2: authority to do that.
- 16:17Speaker 3: But so be it.
- 16:18Speaker 2: In any case, they're trying to figure out how and
- 16:21Speaker 2: where this is going to happen, and we filed our claim.
- 16:24Speaker 3: You know, I've come.
- 16:25Speaker 2: You know you've heard my complaint because the cookwear business, Saville.
- 16:28Speaker 1: And Iron all day, the audience has been so concerned
- 16:32Speaker 1: about you.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Thank you very much for that.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, they've just been like, god, his handle lokay? Does
- 16:39Speaker 1: he need? All?
- 16:39Speaker 5: Right?
- 16:39Speaker 3: Now, that's it. You're never riding in my elevator again.
- 16:44Speaker 1: You shun me from your elevator.
- 16:48Speaker 4: You should apologize that elevator's fun.
- 16:50Speaker 3: There you go.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I haven't written this one.
- 16:53Speaker 3: It's a fun elevator.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I remember the old one. Yes, so you could fit
- 16:57Speaker 1: a football team in it, you know.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I Before people make fun of me, I should actually
- 17:03Speaker 2: explain the elevator.
- 17:05Speaker 3: It actually makes sense. But that's besides the point.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Continue me on with more handle on the news. Amy
- 17:12Speaker 2: Neil and me, and I do not see Amy in
- 17:16Speaker 2: her chair.
- 17:18Speaker 4: I'm right here.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I know you about our dates. Okay.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I will do the story as Amy is running around someplace.
- 17:27Speaker 2: And this is the president considering the possibility that Samuel Alito,
- 17:33Speaker 2: Justice Samuel Leto might step down, and the President gets
- 17:37Speaker 2: to yet nominate a.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Fourth justice to the Supreme Court.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Now that's not going to have any realiant kind of
- 17:45Speaker 2: import it's just not going to be that important. Why
- 17:48Speaker 2: because Alito is already the most conservative jazz. He and
- 17:52Speaker 2: Clarence Thomas are the two insanely conservative justices, so it'll
- 17:56Speaker 2: be just replacing one or the other. And he and
- 17:59Speaker 2: the President talked about Ruth Bader Ginsburg and he noted
- 18:03Speaker 2: that she wouldn't retire, so Joe Biden could have nominated
- 18:08Speaker 2: another Supreme Court justice. And that was a horrible thing
- 18:12Speaker 2: that she did to the liberal cause. She was eighty
- 18:16Speaker 2: seven years old and said, no, I'm not retiring. And
- 18:20Speaker 2: the problem is she died after Trump was sworn in,
- 18:25Speaker 2: and that means she was replaced with a very conservative
- 18:29Speaker 2: I think it was.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Some people said it was very selfish of her.
- 18:33Speaker 2: It was not a good move politically, that's for sure.
- 18:37Speaker 2: It wasn't a good move socially in terms of her position,
- 18:40Speaker 2: her liberal position. Yeah, And people were saying, that's a
- 18:43Speaker 2: lot of hubers. She's eighty seven, she's a Supreme Court justice.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I ain't given it up. And then she dies, Well,
- 18:51Speaker 2: I mean she wakes up one morning dead. She was.
- 18:58Speaker 1: She was quite slight. I don't know that that's the sound.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Oh okay, there you go.
- 19:06Speaker 1: That's that's more sensitive speaking about justice. We just aren't
- 19:12Speaker 1: nice to each other anymore. Liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia
- 19:16Speaker 1: Soda Mayor issued an unusual apology yesterday. She made some
- 19:22Speaker 1: what they're calling critical remarks about the upbringing of one
- 19:26Speaker 1: of her conservative colleagues, Justice Brett Cavanaugh. And this was
- 19:31Speaker 1: talking to a disagreement about gosh, what they were talking about.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I just blanked on the conversation that started this whole thing.
- 19:44Speaker 2: It was an immigration, immigration thing, that was an immigration issue.
- 19:48Speaker 1: So it is an immigration issue. And she she didn't
- 19:50Speaker 1: even call him out by name. I don't think this
- 19:52Speaker 1: is really apology worthy. She says that without naming him.
- 19:58Speaker 1: This is from a man who's parents were professionals and
- 20:01Speaker 1: probably doesn't really know any person who works by the hour.
- 20:05Speaker 2: That's a dig A and Supreme Court justices don't do
- 20:09Speaker 2: personal digs. I mean they do digs on decisions. You know,
- 20:13Speaker 2: you're out of touch with reality. It's crappy a little
- 20:18Speaker 2: to say, Hey, listen, we all come from our own perspective.
- 20:20Speaker 2: And if you only came from a you know, a
- 20:23Speaker 2: household professionals that don't know, I think you would have
- 20:26Speaker 2: gotten the same point across. Well, how about the how
- 20:28Speaker 2: about the statement that she said that she believes he
- 20:30Speaker 2: has sex with goats?
- 20:32Speaker 3: Well, I think do you think that was a little offensive.
- 20:35Speaker 3: She has to apologize for it. By the way, she
- 20:37Speaker 3: didn't say that, but a step up from a count grace.
- 20:40Speaker 3: It's a great story.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Okay, moving on last call for call boxes. So you
- 20:45Speaker 4: know those call boxes that used to be everywhere along
- 20:48Speaker 4: the freeway for when you broke down in Orange County,
- 20:52Speaker 4: they installed a thousand of them. That was back in
- 20:56Speaker 4: nineteen eighty seven, and they used to get eleven thousand
- 20:58Speaker 4: calls a month from blud breakdown, blow attire or something
- 21:01Speaker 4: like that and needed help. Well, apparently less than one
- 21:07Speaker 4: fewer than one person a day in the last year
- 21:10Speaker 4: has gotten out of the car and walked to the
- 21:13Speaker 4: call box to give it a call. So they're why
- 21:15Speaker 4: they're gonna.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Why do we no longer need call boxes?
- 21:17Speaker 4: Cell phone?
- 21:18Speaker 3: That's it. Everybody has a cell phone.
- 21:21Speaker 1: And how is this not racist? Don't we have to
- 21:27Speaker 1: make things available to everybody, like even the poor.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Racist? Yeah, because everything's racist, Neil, everything's racist, Neil.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Liberals tell us they speaking like a Mexican. This is
- 21:42Speaker 3: Neil projecting. Okay, I got grades.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I'm like one of you.
- 21:48Speaker 2: This is Neil having gotten fired because of affirmative action
- 21:51Speaker 2: here at the station, getting hired.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Excuse me? And who will never get fired ever? Kid?
- 21:56Speaker 2: You not?
- 21:57Speaker 1: I am surprised someone hasn't come out and said, well,
- 22:00Speaker 1: someone that can't afford a cell phone?
- 22:03Speaker 2: Well, how about someone who can't afford a car to
- 22:05Speaker 2: then get stuck on the freeway?
- 22:07Speaker 3: Who, yeah, you can go.
- 22:08Speaker 1: There's no way you would pass that in La County.
- 22:12Speaker 1: All righty, so ACA, if you remember the Affordable Cares Act,
- 22:18Speaker 1: big doings, and then Trump came and said we need
- 22:21Speaker 1: more money for this. Premiums rose sharply, and now the
- 22:27Speaker 1: falloff rate is growing. People aren't paying, people can't pay,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and some of the numbers are pretty crazy. One woman
- 22:38Speaker 1: who covered herself and her twenty year old son, the
- 22:42Speaker 1: costs went from one hundred and fifty dollars a month
- 22:45Speaker 1: last year to seven hundred dollars a month.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yike. Yeah, well, yeah, that's what's happening with insurance.
- 22:51Speaker 2: I mean, this is Obamacare, the ACA, and it has
- 22:55Speaker 2: been decimated. The President and the Republics have said the
- 23:00Speaker 2: ACA is the most horrible bill in the world. And
- 23:03Speaker 2: we have a replacement. Okay, what is it? Well, we
- 23:06Speaker 2: have a replacement, Okay, what is it. Well, we're going
- 23:09Speaker 2: to come up with a replacement. We have plans for it. Okay,
- 23:12Speaker 2: what are those plans. Well, we're thinking about it at
- 23:15Speaker 2: some point. By the way, that literally is what ended
- 23:19Speaker 2: up happening. So you had people who because they're no
- 23:22Speaker 2: longer government subsidies, or very few of them, it just
- 23:26Speaker 2: become too expensive. Insurance in general has become expensive that
- 23:30Speaker 2: even the key, but under.
- 23:32Speaker 1: The symptoms rather than the real root cause.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Well there's two.
- 23:37Speaker 2: That is one, and then the other issue is people
- 23:39Speaker 2: who had government help in terms of insurance are just
- 23:43Speaker 2: they're out of luck. And you have millions of people
- 23:46Speaker 2: who are not no longer insured, or can no longer
- 23:49Speaker 2: afford insurance, or are struggling to pay for insurance and
- 23:54Speaker 2: not paying utility bills for example. It's a tough way
- 23:57Speaker 2: to go. It's you know, it is horror to be
- 24:00Speaker 2: poor in this country. Also, we don't have a national
- 24:03Speaker 2: health plan, which is ludicrous on its face. Every industrialized
- 24:09Speaker 2: country in the world has a national health plan except
- 24:11Speaker 2: for US. Everyone maybe South Africa doesn't. But it's it's
- 24:17Speaker 2: all right, let's just take a break.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I think we have more opportunities what to not pay
- 24:22Speaker 1: that's correct? Poor?
- 24:25Speaker 2: Uh maybe, oh no, no, it depends on it depends
- 24:30Speaker 2: on which country looking at. If you look at Vietnam,
- 24:32Speaker 2: huge opportunities. You look at other countries, huge opportunities. Now
- 24:37Speaker 2: we are the land of opportunity, don't mistake that we are.
- 24:41Speaker 2: But you know, it's it's getting harder and harder not
- 24:44Speaker 2: to be poor, especially if you are poor. So boy,
- 24:47Speaker 2: that was deep. That was very deep. Okay, Amy, you
- 24:50Speaker 2: want to get me out of here.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:52Speaker 4: So you know how the bee public populations have been declining,
- 24:57Speaker 4: Maybe they were just hiding. A New York State cemetery
- 25:01Speaker 4: could be home to nearly five point six million ground
- 25:05Speaker 4: nesting bees. A new study says the colony is one
- 25:08Speaker 4: of the largest ever recorded and likely one of the oldest.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Of course, you know bees. Obviously people think they live
- 25:16Speaker 4: in hives, but apparently seventy percent of them are ground
- 25:22Speaker 4: nesting bees. They burrow in the ground.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Wow, and they will and they and they will. Part
- 25:26Speaker 2: of this which is where we got to phrase the
- 25:28Speaker 2: bees needs no I don't think that's right. Huh. Sometimes
- 25:36Speaker 2: they work and sometimes they don't.
- 25:38Speaker 4: That was actually very clever, very well, thank you.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Well, thank you for that one. I can't get that
- 25:44Speaker 3: out of meal or that's for sure.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You guys hate each other. After one day out, all right,
- 25:53Speaker 1: more than forty thousand UC workers, as we talked about
- 25:57Speaker 1: a little bit earlier, are threating, threatening to go on strike,
- 26:00Speaker 1: even though here in California we've got other big problems
- 26:04Speaker 1: and in Los Angeles even bigger. So a union representing
- 26:09Speaker 1: this group obviously is saying it's time. The union is
- 26:12Speaker 1: demanding let's see probably something unique. Oh no, higher wages,
- 26:17Speaker 1: lower health care costs, all that stuff.
- 26:20Speaker 3: You're going to see a lot.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Of these walkouts and these contract negotiations is going to
- 26:26Speaker 2: get expensive.
- 26:27Speaker 3: It really is.
- 26:28Speaker 1: It's already expensive. And listen, say they don't deserve it.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I think educators are have more thrown at them than
- 26:37Speaker 1: ever before. But when we're doing so horribly nationally, it
- 26:43Speaker 1: just seems like, wow, in any other business, can you
- 26:46Speaker 1: go have the balls to walk up and say, I
- 26:49Speaker 1: know we're doing horribly, but we deserve a raise. And
- 26:52Speaker 1: that's coming from somebody that supports teachers.
- 26:55Speaker 4: I'm just saying, time to name the babies.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, this is certainly Amy's topic, I know, right.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Okay, So the eagles in a nest high above Big
- 27:08Speaker 4: Bear Lake are doing very well. The eglits are actually
- 27:10Speaker 4: up and they're on their own right now. Jackie and
- 27:12Speaker 4: Shadow have left the nest, but they've survived, you know,
- 27:15Speaker 4: the first couple of weeks. They're both eating really well,
- 27:18Speaker 4: and so they said it's time for the naming contests.
- 27:20Speaker 4: They do this every time Jackie and Shadow have eglitz
- 27:24Speaker 4: and so if you would like to submit a suggested name,
- 27:29Speaker 4: I'm guessing there's going to be about fifty thousand. Sandy's
- 27:32Speaker 4: suggested you can do that on the Friends of Big
- 27:36Speaker 4: Bear Valley website Sandy because the founder of Friends of
- 27:40Speaker 4: Big Bear Valley, Sandy Steers, passed away, but you can
- 27:44Speaker 4: do it on their website, Friends of Big Bear Valley
- 27:46Speaker 4: dot com. It's five bucks to make one suggestion, ten
- 27:49Speaker 4: bucks to make three suggestions, twenty five to make ten suggestions,
- 27:54Speaker 4: and then from there they randomly pick computer generated randomly
- 27:57Speaker 4: pick the finalists, and then the third graders at Big
- 28:01Speaker 4: Bear Elementary School are the ones who make the final
- 28:05Speaker 4: choice for names this year.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Okay, I have submitted Adolph and Eva.
- 28:11Speaker 4: Wow, would you do that?
- 28:12Speaker 3: How do you think it's going to work out?
- 28:14Speaker 4: Well, you know, it could be rat It could be
- 28:17Speaker 4: a finalist because they're supposed to be a computer generated
- 28:20Speaker 4: That would be scary.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Mustache on the eglist.
- 28:24Speaker 1: What the third graders are going to be doing the
- 28:27Speaker 1: final Do you like poopy pads, poopy pants and Senorita
- 28:31Speaker 1: poopy pants?
- 28:32Speaker 4: Well, last year they did Sonny and Gizmo.
- 28:36Speaker 2: So, and then Sonny and Gizmo ended up dying or no,
- 28:40Speaker 2: they fledged actually Sonny.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Gizmo flying around. That's kind of fun. I like Gizmo. Yeah,
- 28:45Speaker 3: it's kind of a cute name.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Yeah. Anyway, all the money goes to friends of Big
- 28:48Speaker 4: Bear Valley, and part of it is, you know, to
- 28:51Speaker 4: keep that nest cam going that about fifty thousand people
- 28:54Speaker 4: are watching right now.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, all right. Uh who would have guessed. But
- 29:01Speaker 1: House Speaker Mike Johnson yesterday appeared to side with the
- 29:04Speaker 1: White House and it's growing feud with the Vatican. I
- 29:08Speaker 1: can't believe I'm actually saying that got a growing feud
- 29:13Speaker 1: with the Vatican.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I know, it's crazy.
- 29:16Speaker 1: The Pope and you know, why don't you just say
- 29:19Speaker 1: the Pope has different concerns.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, the Pope always says that war is horrible, and
- 29:25Speaker 2: he always that's what the Pope owners.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Pope wouldn't even be there without me.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, it's just crazy.
- 29:31Speaker 2: And in Vance, who is a converted Catholic, tells the Pope,
- 29:35Speaker 2: you be careful, you be.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Careful, ranking Catholic. It's collected official to the US, and
- 29:42Speaker 1: he said warning Pope Leo to be careful when discussing
- 29:47Speaker 1: theology bodies isn't that is yet his job, Hope has
- 29:52Speaker 1: directed lying to God.
- 29:56Speaker 3: That's true. It's on speed dial.
- 29:58Speaker 2: The Pope has a owing to God and just he
- 30:01Speaker 2: just presses the button. It's like nine to one one
- 30:03Speaker 2: except one number is And it's because the Pope when
- 30:09Speaker 2: it comes to yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Because because anybody who anybody who says anything negative about
- 30:16Speaker 5: the administration immediately gets into a fight with the president
- 30:19Speaker 5: just standing down.
- 30:20Speaker 3: And the only.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Reason the Pope is not being arrested for treason and
- 30:25Speaker 2: sedition is because he's in Italy.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Well, and he's like and the people who protect him
- 30:34Speaker 1: look like candy stripers.
- 30:37Speaker 3: He's also he's also a Chicago Bears fan too.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Speaking of feuds, there is a food going on now
- 30:46Speaker 4: between the National Park Service and the National Parks Conservation
- 30:51Speaker 4: Association over potential gold in them there hills. So uh,
- 30:57Speaker 4: there's mining going on, and the National Parks Conservation Association said, yeah,
- 31:03Speaker 4: you can't just allow mining in the Mojave National Preserve
- 31:08Speaker 4: because it's an open pit that used to be mined
- 31:10Speaker 4: but now it's home to big horned sheep and some
- 31:12Speaker 4: other animals, and they said, you don't have a right
- 31:15Speaker 4: to do this.
- 31:16Speaker 2: So they're fighting, of course they're fighting, and the National
- 31:21Speaker 2: Park Service, which of course is part of the executive brand,
- 31:25Speaker 2: saying not only do we allow mining, we're in favor
- 31:27Speaker 2: of mining, but those sheep, that's mutton, and so that's
- 31:32Speaker 2: not a bad deal. Okay, we are done with the
- 31:35Speaker 2: news coming up the decision yesterday by the jury involving
- 31:41Speaker 2: Live Nation and Ticketmaster. YEP, it's a monopoly, and we'll
- 31:45Speaker 2: come back and talk about that.
- 31:48Speaker 3: This is KFI Am six. You've been listening to the
- 31:53Speaker 3: Bill Handle Show.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Catch my show Monday through Friday six am to nine am,
- 31:57Speaker 2: and anytime on demand on the Heart Radio app.
