HOW TO Setup a Ledger Flex Hardware Wallet - (Tutorial Guide / Cryptocurrency) · SILVER / GOLD / $UFD: Surviving Global Economic Shifts | RONS BASEMENT

You, you can learn from my mistake.
• 0:01
Don't think about security after something happens.
• 0:05
Think about it before something happens.
• 0:07
I thought that it would never happen to me and it did happen.
• 0:10
And then I learned from a lot of other people, high level people,
• 0:13
that it's happened to a lot of people.
• 0:15
So think about security before it happens.
• 0:18
I'm really a novice. I've only owned crypto for about
• 0:21
9 weeks now. Prior to that I'd never owned
• 0:24
crypto. And that there's other people
• 0:25
out there that are new to crypto or maybe new to hardware wallets
• 0:30
that'll benefit from from from kind of walking through this
• 0:34
with us. I will have a lot of questions.
• 0:35
I'll warn you, Rami, wow, this is really a nice display.
• 0:39
I have to say. It's the Ledger live app
• 0:41
experience and the Flex experience are seamless, very
• 0:45
  intuitive. Oh my gosh.
• 0:51
Hey, Ron, how are you doing? Nice to meet you.
• 0:54
Nice to meet you, Rami. How are you today?
• 0:56
All good here is in France, Paris and it's good to see you.
• 1:00
Yeah, it's good to see you. I'm in.
• 1:02
I'm in Saint Louis. You're in my basement.
• 1:04
It's called Ron's Basement. And I'm also the founder and
• 1:08
developer of the Solana based Unicorn fart desk meme coin.
• 1:13
So great. Great to meet you.
• 1:14
Great to see you I I really love your setting, it's really cute.
• 1:19
Can you give me some small explanation about it or?
• 1:23
Yeah, well, you know, I've been, I've been working in my basement
• 1:27
creating content for years. back in December, I started a a meme
• 1:31
coin called Unicorn Fart Dust. It was my first experience ever
• 1:36
buying any type of cryptocurrency and and
• 1:40
developing A cryptocurrency. And it's become wildly popular,
• 1:44
and I've now become keenly aware of the fact that I need to learn
• 1:49
about securing my cryptocurrency with hardware wallets.
• 1:53
So that's why I'm reaching out to you today.
• 1:56
  That's amazing. Yeah.
• 1:57
I also have seen a lot of news on this coin, of course.
• 2:01
And of course, we're really happy to have you here.
• 2:03
And welcome to Ledger's community, Ledger's environment,
• 2:08
and you're in the right place. Yeah, Yeah.
• 2:11
Well, you know, it's great for me to be partnering with Ledger.
• 2:15
  You know, it's, it's a big honor.
• 2:16
It's something very important to me.
• 2:18
You may know, I had a a hack experience a few weeks back.
• 2:23
I was not using a hardware wallet.
• 2:25
And one of the people there at Ledger sent me something that I
• 2:29
thought was very pertinent to what what I'm going through
• 2:32
right now. It said everyone thinks about
• 2:35
  security after something happens.
• 2:37
So you and I are talking, but this is being recorded.
• 2:41
So for our viewer, I'll tell them please, you, you can learn
• 2:45
from my mistake. Don't think about security after
• 2:48
something happens. Think about it before something
• 2:51
happens. Because I thought you know that
• 2:54
that that it would never happen to me.
• 2:56
And it did happen. And then I learned from a lot of
• 2:58
other people, high level people, that it's happened to a lot of
• 3:01
people. So think about security before
• 3:04
it happens. And, and I'm really lucky
• 3:07
because Ledger actually sent me two devices.
• 3:10
I have the the Ledger Stacks here and I also have the one
• 3:15
that I think you and I are going to set up today, the Ledger Flex
• 3:18
  as well. Exactly.
• 3:20
So did you have a look small like did you like the devices?
• 3:24
How does it look so far? Well, you know, I, I didn't even
• 3:28
take them out-of-the-box because I was, I was impressed.
• 3:31
It looks like there's some security features built into the
• 3:34
box and I didn't want to touch anything.
• 3:36
I do have a new phone that I bought that I'm going to be
• 3:39
  using specifically for my crypto.
• 3:43
That's all set up. I downloaded the Ledger live
• 3:47
app. Hopefully that was the right
• 3:49
first step to do but I'm I'm really a novice.
• 3:52
Like I said, you know I've only owned crypto for about 9 weeks
• 3:56
now prior to that I'd never owned crypto.
• 3:59
So I'm, what I'm hoping here is that you can walk me through
• 4:02
step by step what I need to do and that there's other people
• 4:06
out there that are new to crypto or maybe new to hardware wallets
• 4:10
that'll benefit from from from kind of walking through this
• 4:14
with us. I will have a lot of questions.
• 4:16
I'll warn you, Rami. That's great.
• 4:18
I love questions and really happy to have the session with
• 4:22
you. So if you want, we can jump in
• 4:24
right in and see how it goes. Yep, that that sounds great.
• 4:28
So I guess I should start by opening the box, correct?
• 4:31
Definitely. OK, so there's AI have a little
• 4:35
knife here. It looks like there's like a
• 4:37
security feature here, right? I I stripped that off.
• 4:44
That should be the strip for the ceiling of the box.
• 4:48
Yeah, the ceiling, Yeah. And I want to mention too,
• 4:51
because I had these devices shipped directly from Ledger, it
• 4:55
felt like the box that they came in had some security features
• 4:58
built into it. Also, it would have been very
• 5:01
obvious had the box been open. That's true.
• 5:05
So if you see the seal that's like ripped off or taken off,
• 5:09
that you can definitely know, OK, something might have
• 5:11
happened. But of course there are another
• 5:14
security features like that will continue.
• 5:16
So, you know, it's the number one checklist, but it's not
• 5:19
really like super in danger even if it was ripped off.
• 5:23
But still, it's good to know that we have it and we can take
• 5:27
it off. And there you go.
• 5:30
I can see everything is going smooth.
• 5:31
Yeah. So this this is my new Ledger
• 5:34
  flex, correct? Yes.
• 5:37
All right. I'll take the the screen
• 5:39
protector off you tell me what I need to do here.
• 5:43
But so I have the box opened and looks like there's a recovery
• 5:48
sheet in here that we'll use later with the seat phrase.
• 5:53
Is that correct? That's exactly what it is for.
• 5:57
All right, so I'll set that over there.
• 5:59
Hold on here and do you know what is it?
• 6:05
Are these the directions in here?
• 6:07
You can open it and we'll find out.
• 6:09
  All right, I again, I apologize, I'm a novice.
• 6:13
OK, so this is the. Direction.
• 6:16
Yeah. And then looks like there's
• 6:18
something else here. A charging, A charging cable, I
• 6:22
imagine. And if you want to connect it to
• 6:24
your phone, like Android phone or to your computer, you can
• 6:28
also connect it with your leisure Flex.
• 6:31
So let's first turn it on. So looks like there's a button
• 6:36
at the top there. All right.
• 6:39
  Yeah, it turned on. OK.
• 6:43
It says Ledger, the most trusted security for your digital assets
• 6:47
and then tap to continue, correct?
• 6:50
OK, OK. It says your crypto and other
• 6:55
digital assets are stored on the blockchain.
• 7:00
To own and manage these assets, you need the private keys linked
• 7:04
  to them. Exactly.
• 7:07
Wow, this is really a nice display I have to say.
• 7:10
It's amazing. We we really had a lot of effort
• 7:13
to make this display and it's like one of the thing I really
• 7:15
love and it's really smooth. And then you can see everything
• 7:19
like walk through. If you want to go back, of
• 7:22
course to read through, you can go back anytime you want and you
• 7:26
can tap to continue until we see the first step to go.
• 7:30
Ledger Flex generates and protects your private keys and
• 7:35
use Ledger Flex to securely review and sign your
• 7:39
transactions. So my keys, as I understand it,
• 7:44
I warned you I'd have a lot of questions will never be on the
• 7:48
Internet. That's kind of the difference
• 7:50
between a hardware wallet and a hot wallet, is that correct?
• 7:54
That's very, very precise, yes. OK OK excellent to buy, send,
• 7:59
swap and stake any crypto and manage your Ledger flex.
• 8:02
Use the Ledger Live app which I have downloaded.
• 8:05
You can download it from App Store or Play Store just in case
• 8:08
your community want to know. OK, so it's on Android obviously
• 8:13
and Apple, correct for best. OK, OK, so now I'm on this
• 8:17
screen, looks like the beginning of the setup screen, so I should
• 8:23
tap Ledger Live. We're going to do mobile, so
• 8:26
I'll tap the use the Ledger Live mobile app.
• 8:29
Perfect. OK now it wants me to scan it so
• 8:34
I will do that. Do I scan it with my camera or
• 8:38
with the Ledger live app? You should be able to scan it
• 8:43
with your camera usually. OK, because I just what I did
• 8:48
was I downloaded the app, but I didn't go through the process on
• 8:51
the app of setting everything up.
• 8:53
I thought we could do that during this as well.
• 8:55
OK, all right, well, let me use my camera here.
• 8:59
We, we make digital ownership secure and simple.
• 9:03
Get started. OK, I will accept everything.
• 9:09
All right. So now on the Ledger live app, I
• 9:11
have a screen that says set up your Ledger, which is obviously
• 9:14
what I want to do or act with your wallet.
• 9:17
OK, and I'm going to select the Ledger flex.
• 9:23
Wow, this is great. I really appreciate you doing
• 9:25
this. This is this is actually a lot
• 9:26
of fun. Allow Ledger live to find
• 9:30
  connect. OK, I'll allow that.
• 9:33
I'm on a screen with the Bluetooth and it shows Ledger
• 9:36
Flex FF88. Perfect can tap on it.
• 9:40
OK, says it's pairing and that there's a number that showed up
• 9:45
and I'm confirming that that's the same number on my Ledger
• 9:48
Flex, which is on my phone. Oh, and I need to say that on
• 9:53
the Flex too. OK, OK, so it says the Ledger
• 9:56
Flex is paired. It says scan to open the Ledger
• 10:00
live app and connect to the Flex is now telling me that it's
• 10:04
doing a Ledger genuine check. Use the Ledger live app to
• 10:09
confirm this Ledger Flex is genuine and up to date.
• 10:13
All right, so I'm it's giving me that option on the app while
• 10:16
this really works rather easily. Yep, and only the official and
• 10:22
legitimate Ledger can actually confirm that signal that is sent
• 10:26
from Ledger live. So that's another genuine check
• 10:29
that we can go through. So you know no one tempers your
• 10:32
Ledger and is safe to use. OK OK so now on the on the on
• 10:37
the flex I'm allowing it to check so the the the Ledger flex
• 10:44
which is where my keys are are stored only connects to the app
• 10:49
via Bluetooth correct? You can also get connected with
• 10:53
cables as we were talking before, but not on iPhone but on
• 10:57
  Android yes. OK.
• 11:01
OK. We're going through an update
• 11:02
here. I apologize may take a second.
• 11:04
No worries. It's also great that we always
• 11:06
have to have the firmware updated.
• 11:08
  So it's, it's great we're doing it.
• 11:11
Yes, OK, Yep, it's loading an update now onto the actual Flex
• 11:15
device. Now as I go through this process
• 11:20
then with the Ledger Live app, I'll actually be creating a
• 11:25
wallet on Ledger Live. Is that is that correct as well?
• 11:28
So Ledger Live itself is a software wallet like software
• 11:32
like wallet. But what we're going to do is to
• 11:35
connect it and then generate your private keys from your
• 11:39
Ledger device. And then you will be able to
• 11:42
create an account for each crypto that you would like to
• 11:45
secure on the interface. So let your light app itself as
• 11:49
  an interface. Got you.
• 11:52
And when you and again I apologize, I'm new to all this.
• 11:55
When you say different crypto, do you mean like the different
• 11:57
  like the Solana blockchain? Exactly.
• 12:00
  Solana Ethereum. Ethereum.
• 12:03
  OK, OK. Thank you.
• 12:05
OK, we're almost there. We're about 3/4 of the way
• 12:08
through the up the, the, the update here.
• 12:11
And then, you know, I, I'm very focused on Unicorn fart dust,
• 12:16
which is a Solana based meme coin, the one that I created.
• 12:20
It's my understanding also that I'll be able to obviously store
• 12:23
that on on my on the Ledger Live app and secure it with the
• 12:28
hardware wallet through the Flex as well, correct?
• 12:31
So as you might already know, like including UFD, of course
• 12:35
all the crypto assets itself exist on the blockchain.
• 12:38
So what we're going to store is the private keys that is going
• 12:42
to allow you to access to those assets on the blockchain, so.
• 12:47
Got you. But so so the the the the
• 12:50
Unicorn fart dust exists and is stored on the blockchain.
• 12:55
I'll be able to to conduct transactions with it through the
• 13:00
Ledger Live app, but the keys and the approval process is
• 13:04
stored separately in the hardware wallet on the Ledger
• 13:09
Flex. Is that is that accurate?
• 13:11
Exactly. So the keys are going to be
• 13:12
generated and then stored on your Ledger device completely
• 13:16
offline because it's going to only happen on your hardware
• 13:18
wallet and it will going to send a signal to sign the
• 13:22
transactions when you want to make the transaction in the
• 13:24
  blockchain. Gotcha.
• 13:28
So the the the approval process comes from this from the flex
• 13:33
  to. Exactly.
• 13:34
  Gotcha. OK.
• 13:36
The the new software is loading right now, so we're almost
• 13:41
through there, OK. Just curiosity, is there a
• 13:44
reason you you chose like Unicorn for the token?
• 13:48
Well, prior to getting into crypto for three years I was a
• 13:54
gold and silver. I ran a a niche channel in gold
• 13:59
and silver and before, before I became, I guess you would say,
• 14:05
enlightened about crypto, there were times when I would refer to
• 14:09
  cryptocurrency as Unicorn fart dust.
• 14:11
So that's where the that's where the name comes from.
• 14:14
That is a real meme. Yes.
• 14:18
And then shortly after I created the crypto, which was really an
• 14:22
experiment back on December 16th, I went through a rather
• 14:27
transformative experience very quickly when I realized that the
• 14:31
community and where the real value is in crypto.
• 14:33
So now, now I say that Unicorn fart does really is crypto.
• 14:37
  So it's it's I'm I'm a changed man.
• 14:41
Once I learned about cryptocurrency, that's.
• 14:44
  Really. OK.
• 14:46
Now I'm on the screen, looks like everything's updated.
• 14:50
Yep, in the why the app does a great job also it says it says
• 14:58
the Ledger Flex OS operating system is now up to date.
• 15:01
So I pressed finish OK and now it wants to check the Ledger
• 15:08
Flex for Jen to be genuine again and allow secure connection.
• 15:15
I'll allow Ledgerflex is genuine, Ledgerflex OS is up to
• 15:23
date. So we we are genuine and we are
• 15:25
up to date and I. I.
• 15:28
I I want to compliment your, your company on this app.
• 15:33
It really is quite simple and very, very, you know, does a
• 15:40
great job of walking, walking me through everything that I need
• 15:43
  to do It's. Very intuitive.
• 15:45
Yeah, I love it. OK, so I'm on the app.
• 15:48
I'm going to press continue to set up.
• 15:53
OK, this says set up Ledger Flex FF88.
• 15:57
It's genuine. OK, to start things off, give
• 16:00
your Ledger Flex a unique name. So I will give it a name.
• 16:07
OK, I gave it a name and tap to continue.
• 16:12
OK, now I need to enter a PIN. You, you have to choose like 4
• 16:18
to 8 numbers pin and we usually say like having 8 pin is of
• 16:23
course most secure because you know, I, I would not not say we
• 16:27
should do like 0000 of course. Right, right.
• 16:30
So and I will, I will do that now and obviously not share that
• 16:35
with the audience. We'll we'll OK.
• 16:42
So the pen is set and now I tap to continue.
• 16:48
Now it says next choose how you'd like to set up this Ledger
• 16:52
Flex. So I'm going to set it up as a
• 16:58
  new Ledger exactly. Yeah.
• 17:00
OK. All right, let's do it.
• 17:04
So just talking about PIN, while you know you're, you're setting
• 17:07
up your PIN, it's really good to have 8 digit, which is the going
• 17:12
to the maximum of the PIN. Because what's going to happen
• 17:15
is that you're going to have the private keys loaded and
• 17:17
generated on your letter device, which is not going to be your
• 17:20
choice, but it's going to be given from the device.
• 17:23
But what you can choose is the PIN code and it will let you
• 17:27
unlock your device. So whoever has your PIN code and
• 17:31
your physical device and unlock it can actually make
• 17:35
transactions. So you know it it it is
• 17:37
important to have it secure. Not with your birthday for
• 17:41
instance. Or a very very easy numbers to
• 17:44
guess. That makes that makes sense and
• 17:47
I was sure to use an 8 digit number that didn't really relate
• 17:52
to anything that may be on public record like my birthday
• 17:55
or anything along those lines. That's great.
• 17:58
So like more private memories stuff.
• 18:00
  That's that's amazing. Yes, yeah, it's top.
• 18:03
It's top, top secret. Great, great.
• 18:06
So I wouldn't ask. Yeah, yeah.
• 18:10
No, that that I appreciate you telling me that because you
• 18:13
know, I know you have specific insight into and I'll ask you
• 18:18
more later as well any other recommendations you may have
• 18:21
when it comes to, you know, crypto security, just good, good
• 18:25
best practices that that I may want to, you know, keep keep in
• 18:30
mind with this now I'm at a screen where it says it would
• 18:33
like to generate your secret, my secret recovery phrase, which is
• 18:38
the foundation of the wallet security.
• 18:41
So I'll go ahead and tap tap the content continue key.
• 18:45
OK, It's a sequence of 24 words which cannot be changed or
• 18:51
chosen exactly if you're if it's and if it says If my Ledger is
• 18:55
ever stolen, broke and lost, these 24 words are the only way
• 18:59
that I can recover the wallet. Anyone who knows my secret
• 19:07
recovery phase phrase can steal my assets forever.
• 19:13
This is like the most important parts when it comes to Ledger
• 19:16
technology. So you should never ever share
• 19:19
your 24 word with anyone. I would not even share it with
• 19:23
my mom. You know, it's it's total top
• 19:25
secret. It's total, total top secret.
• 19:28
And I can say, and I'm and I'm, I'm sure you'll agree with this,
• 19:33
don't put it in a spreadsheet and don't take pictures of it
• 19:37
with your mobile phone, correct? Exactly.
• 19:40
Don't make any, any digital copies, like Oh yeah, I just
• 19:44
took photo with my phone. No, don't do that.
• 19:46
Because for instance, what happens if your phone is lost or
• 19:49
someone steal your phone? It's not going to end up pretty.
• 19:53
So we don't do that. OK, OK, so I have this orange
• 19:56
sheet that came with the Ledger Flex.
• 19:59
There's 24 blank spaces on it at this point, I imagine.
• 20:08
It tells, it tells me right here, don't take a picture of it
• 20:11
and don't store it on your mobile phone or your computer.
• 20:14
I can vouch from personal experience that you do not want
• 20:17
to do that. So OK, so I say I understand.
• 20:22
Can you show the recovery sheet for a second one to the to the
• 20:26
public just just so that I would know.
• 20:27
  Thank you. Yeah, that's.
• 20:31
How it should look and that came in the box.
• 20:35
There's actually a couple copies of that.
• 20:38
So at this point I'll be generating the recovery phrase
• 20:41
and then I'll need to write it down correct?
• 20:43
Exactly. So we would need a pen.
• 20:46
Yes, yes, I'll have, I have a pen here.
• 20:51
OK. So I will tap to continue.
• 20:54
All right. And I'm obviously going to keep
• 20:56
that off camera and it's going to take me a minute to write
• 20:59
  this down South. I'll be.
• 21:02
I'll be right back. Yeah, I will not bother you as
• 21:05
it's really important to write every word correctly and no one
• 21:09
can know, so I will wait you here.
• 21:12
  OK. Thank you.
• 21:14
  No. Worries.
• 21:17
I appreciate you helping me with this Rami.
• 21:20
I really love it. It's it's also really
• 21:22
interesting to see how you want to join Ledger ecosystem.
• 21:26
And I think it's really a right choice, not because I work for
• 21:29
Ledger, but you know. No, I think I'm, I'm, I'm
• 21:34
fascinated by this idea of of hardware wallets, especially
• 21:39
like I said earlier, it's better to do this before something
• 21:44
happens than after like I am OK, I have all 24 words written
• 21:51
down, so I will press done on my Ledger Flex.
• 21:56
It says let's confirm that all 24 words are written correctly.
• 21:59
So I'll start confirmation. OK, Oh, this is really cool.
• 22:04
OK, so it's going to quiz me now select word #1.
• 22:10
Obviously, I'm not going to say these words word #2 but if I
• 22:18
were to say the words I'd say I'd, I wouldn't say the real
• 22:21
word #3 OK, so just so the viewers know what it's doing now
• 22:26
is it's going through each number word and giving me a
• 22:30
multiple choice quiz to make sure that I wrote it down
• 22:33
  correctly. I really like that.
• 22:35
That is, that is great. As it's going to be the 1st and
• 22:40
the last time it's going to be shown this set of recovery
• 22:43
phrase, we don't let users to just like yellow, you know, we
• 22:46
we will check you of course if everything is written down
• 22:49
correctly. And the screen is very
• 22:51
responsive and very clear. I like it a lot.
• 22:56
OK, it's confirmed success. Amazing you passed the test.
• 23:04
  I'm hiding that. OK.
• 23:06
All right. Now it says tap to continue.
• 23:11
  OK. Your secret recovery phrase.
• 23:13
Recovery phrase is for your eyes only.
• 23:16
  My eyes only. OK.
• 23:19
Don't share it. Don't lose it.
• 23:25
Now you're in control. All right?
• 23:28
  I'm in control. Ronnie.
• 23:29
  Thank you. Congratulations.
• 23:32
Yeah, excellent. OK, It says continue setting up
• 23:39
using the Ledger Live app. OK, all right.
• 23:43
Now it says Ledger Flex uses apps to enable secure blockchain
• 23:48
  transactions. We recommend downloading a
• 23:50
default set of apps so that you can and you can download more
• 23:54
later. All right, all right, so I'm
• 23:56
going to install those apps looks like it's doing Bitcoin
• 24:00
and Ethereum. I'm a novice so but I feel very
• 24:06
comfortable with both the app and the flex device and how they
• 24:11
communicate with one another and everything.
• 24:13
Everything so far has been just like very clear and easy to
• 24:17
  understand. So it's been great.
• 24:20
OK. Bitcoin is set up, it's working
• 24:23
on Ethereum now. And then you said we'll be able
• 24:25
to download Solana as well, correct?
• 24:28
Of course. Are there any other basic, you
• 24:32
know, crypto related security best practices?
• 24:37
Let me ask you this while this is downloading, I, I can carry
• 24:42
this around with me if I think I'm going to be needing to do a
• 24:46
crypto transaction. But if I'm not, if I'm not, you
• 24:49
know, planning on doing transactions on a regular basis,
• 24:54
it's best obviously to keep this in a very safe, secure place.
• 24:58
Yes, of course. But at the same time, we always
• 25:01
ask users to have it firmware updated or also turn it on and
• 25:05
off regularly because in the end it's a hardware wallet, it's a
• 25:09
electronic device, right? So it needs some exercise itself
• 25:13
too. Otherwise it's going to just
• 25:15
sleep there. And then, for instance, the
• 25:17
battery will have issues, for instance.
• 25:21
So we actually recommend people to regularly use it, or at least
• 25:25
have it breathe some air. Yeah.
• 25:29
So maybe if you're not, if I'm if someone's not going to be
• 25:32
using it in doing a lot of transactions, just make sure
• 25:36
every couple weeks, every month that you turn it on, make sure
• 25:38
that it's charged and like anything you need to, you need
• 25:43
to use it. OK, it says it says on the app,
• 25:46
it says next use your Ledger Flex to transfer your assets to
• 25:51
Ledger by crypto, customize the lock screen or subscribe to
• 25:56
Ledger recover. All right, so now I'm on the
• 26:01
main screen. I'll allow notifications and did
• 26:08
you want to maybe show me how to download the the Solana of app
• 26:13
to the to the flex? Absolutely.
• 26:16
So we have to go to the My Ledger tab to download apps.
• 26:20
Do you see it, Ron? OK.
• 26:22
On your Ledger Live app? Yes, I do perfect.
• 26:24
I see that correct. Can we head there?
• 26:26
And then you would have to select your device.
• 26:29
Got it. It says tap to connect.
• 26:32
Exactly. And now it's a unlock your
• 26:36
device. This is where we have the PIN.
• 26:39
You can now unlock your device with the 8 digit pin that you
• 26:42
had on the first step. It's still on the main screen on
• 26:45
the Ledger Flex. Do I need to press the button on
• 26:47
  the side? There we go.
• 26:49
OK, great. All right, so now I see Bitcoin
• 26:53
and Ethereum and I see an option to add an app on the actual
• 26:58
Ledger Flex. Should I press add an app?
• 27:00
Yeah, please it. Says scan or go to my Ledger all
• 27:05
right. That's where we go to my Ledger.
• 27:09
OK, do I scan with the camera on my phone correct?
• 27:13
You can also just go to the my Ledger tab because you already
• 27:16
have Ledger live. I think it's going to be fine.
• 27:19
So I scanned it and then I'm connecting OK and now it says
• 27:28
I'm on a screen that says my blockchain apps.
• 27:32
Is this where I need to so I see Solana and press the plus sign I
• 27:37
  imagine? Exactly.
• 27:40
And it's installing now on my Ledger Flex that's.
• 27:43
Great, now we have Solana app installed.
• 27:47
The the the. This is going very smoothly
• 27:50
Rami, I appreciate your help. No, it's really great.
• 27:54
I mean everything is very easy to understand and and feels very
• 28:01
secure to me, so this is great it's successfully installed.
• 28:07
That's great. So I'll go to go to accounts.
• 28:11
So now I have Solana on here and I would be able to transfer or
• 28:18
swap, not swap. I guess transfers at the right
• 28:20
term like my UFD coins from just another one.
• 28:27
We have to create the account. We have to create the Solana
• 28:30
  account. Oh OK.
• 28:32
Oh right, so I need a wallet address.
• 28:34
Correct exactly. Now we download the app so we
• 28:37
can make an account. OK, well I'll, I'll follow your
• 28:42
lead. Tell me what I need to do.
• 28:44
So you can you can go press on the main dashboard button on
• 28:49
  your Ledger live. OK.
• 28:52
And then you'll be able to see send or receive.
• 28:57
Do you see? That I do like the the arrows in
• 28:59
  the middle there. Yeah.
• 29:02
OK, got it. Do you see receive also?
• 29:05
Yes, receive crypto from another wallet.
• 29:08
Exactly, if you click on it, what would happen?
• 29:12
Now it it says choose a crypto you want to receive.
• 29:17
So we can add Solana. You can say Solana.
• 29:21
Solana says it. Now it says that my device is
• 29:27
locked. So I need to unlock my Ledger
• 29:30
Flex, correct? It's unlocked and I'll say
• 29:33
  retry. OK.
• 29:36
It says open this open the Solana app on your device.
• 29:41
Exactly. I pressed open OK, it says this
• 29:46
app enables signing transactions on the Solana network.
• 29:51
Now it's checking to see if I already have an account for
• 29:54
Solana on the blockchain, which I don't, right?
• 29:57
So it's going to. Realize that here, I imagine.
• 29:59
Not yet under this recovery phrase, but.
• 30:03
There's no accounts found. Creating a new account for
• 30:06
  Solana OK. There we go.
• 30:09
OK, so Rami, now there's a screen that says I need to
• 30:12
verify my address. So this is creating my Solana
• 30:17
wallet address for me. Is that correct?
• 30:20
Yes. So we're going to create a
• 30:21
Solana account and what we're doing is to compare the address
• 30:26
that we're going to see on the Ledger Flex device itself and
• 30:29
what we are seeing on the Ledger Live app.
• 30:33
Ah, OK, so I'm going to verify my address and my device is
• 30:39
locked, which is a good thing. OK, I'm going to retry.
• 30:47
OK, verify. OK, swipe to continue.
• 30:53
OK. So there's an address and I want
• 30:55
to make sure that obviously the address that's showing up on my
• 30:58
Flex is the same as what's showing up on the Ledger Live
• 31:02
  app, correct? OK.
• 31:05
So what we are seeing on the Ledger physical device is what
• 31:08
we're going to believe as the ultimate truth.
• 31:10
So if it by any chance does not match, we will not accept this
• 31:16
  address. Got you.
• 31:19
OK, so should I read through every letter?
• 31:22
Definitely. OK, so I can confirm that.
• 31:27
Does everything match? Yes, everything match.
• 31:30
Great. OK, so now I have I'm very
• 31:36
excited. Now I have my Solana wallet
• 31:39
address which is mine correct? Yes.
• 31:42
So now you have first Ledger Solana account of your own that
• 31:46
you only have access to and you only own the private keys of
• 31:51
that account, which is great. Gotcha.
• 31:53
Got you. But let me ask you a question.
• 31:56
It's OK with me to share this address with if somebody says
• 32:00
wants to send me some Solana or send me a a meme coin that's
• 32:05
based on Solana, I can give them this address.
• 32:09
Is that is that acceptable? Yeah, definitely.
• 32:13
So this account address works like your e-mail address, so you
• 32:17
can share it to anyone else who wants to give you UFD or Solana
• 32:23
any any meme coin based on Solana.
• 32:26
Any, anything based any meme coin based on Solana or Solana
• 32:31
  itself, right? Exactly.
• 32:34
OK, OK, excellent. That makes sense.
• 32:37
So I'm going to copy it just for fun, because it's like an e-mail
• 32:43
address. It's not, I don't have to keep
• 32:44
it. It's it's actually will become,
• 32:47
I guess because I'm the developer of Unicorn Fart Dust,
• 32:51
it'll become pretty well known because people will want to
• 32:54
follow it and see what I'm doing right?
• 32:57
Sure, they will be able to search your address on the
• 33:00
blockchain explorer also and then see all the transactions
• 33:03
related to it so. OK, got it.
• 33:07
Oops, I think I hit verify address again.
• 33:10
We already did that. So OK, wow, hold on one second.
• 33:17
Here we go. OK, I just emailed it to myself,
• 33:20
my Solana address. I'm very excited.
• 33:22
  Yay. Thank you Ronnie.
• 33:24
  It's. My pleasure.
• 33:27
Thank you. Now let me ask you a question
• 33:30
regarding the Flex device. I'm I'm going to make sure I
• 33:33
understand this. So my, the keys, the keys to my
• 33:38
Solana address for any transactions that would occur
• 33:42
are, are stored on my Flex device, which is independent
• 33:47
from the Internet and connects. It's a, it's basically just like
• 33:52
an approval process. So if I were to, let's say,
• 33:57
let's say I had something in that wallet that we just set up
• 34:00
for myself and I wanted to sell something, I could, I could
• 34:06
enter that data on Ledger Live or I would enter that
• 34:10
transaction on Ledger Live. But the ultimate approval then
• 34:14
comes from the cold wallet comes from the the the Ledger Flex
• 34:19
device where I would have to enter the pen and approve any
• 34:23
  transactions, correct? Exactly, exactly.
• 34:25
  That's very correct. OK.
• 34:28
  OK, excellent. Thank you.
• 34:31
What did I forget? Is there anything else fun we
• 34:33
can do with the with the Ledger, the Ledger Flex?
• 34:36
Yeah, I mean we can also change and personalize the lock screen,
• 34:42
OK? So if you want we can change it
• 34:44
to the UFD image or NFD if you have.
• 34:49
  Yeah, yeah. I don't.
• 34:51
I don't have an NFT, but I could probably get an image that we
• 34:58
  could put on there. Definitely.
• 35:00
So on your Ledger device you can go to the settings.
• 35:04
OK. So I should do that on the
• 35:06
Ledger Live you said? No, you can.
• 35:10
Also. You can do it on both, but you
• 35:12
can do it on Ledger Live too. OK.
• 35:15
And can I do this through the Ledger Live app?
• 35:18
Is that correct? You should be able to do on the
• 35:21
Ledger device. On the device itself.
• 35:24
OK, so I'll, I should, I'll wake up my device with my pen, Yeah.
• 35:30
  Unlock it again. Unlock it.
• 35:35
I like the way that the screen on the Ledger flex when I have
• 35:39
to put my pen in randomizes where the numbers are on the
• 35:43
  screen. It's also for security.
• 35:45
I imagine that's the security feature, right?
• 35:48
OK, OK, so I've unlocked the Ledger Flex.
• 35:53
So you can go to the settings by clicking on the wrench icon that
• 35:57
you should see on the top right I think.
• 36:01
  Yep, I got it. Yep.
• 36:03
There we should be lock. Screen.
• 36:05
  Yep, exactly. Customized lock screen?
• 36:09
Yep. You see so intuitive like you
• 36:11
don't even need me, but I'm here to encourage you.
• 36:16
I was just going to say, you know it.
• 36:18
I mean, it really is intuitive. I'm genuinely will say so now
• 36:22
there's a a scam. It says scan to open the Ledger
• 36:27
  live app. Oh, OK, excellent.
• 36:30
Yeah, this is this is really it is very intuitive.
• 36:38
Everything I mean, it's AII will say the the app, the Ledger live
• 36:44
app experience and the flex experience are seamless.
• 36:49
It feels like and very intuitive, very intuitive.
• 36:54
OK, Oh cool. It says choose a picture.
• 36:58
Choose from my gallery. There's the picture I want.
• 37:01
Let's see if this one works. OK.
• 37:04
  Ledger Flex. Choose Ledger Flex.
• 37:09
Oh my gosh, this isn't really impressive.
• 37:13
Set as lock screen. OK, I should be done.
• 37:20
And let me see if that worked. Can you show us how it's going
• 37:24
  on? We're really curious what
• 37:27
picture you chose and how to process.
• 37:29
That yeah let me let me make sure I need to re enter my pen
• 37:34
code. You need to re enter my yeah,
• 37:38
maybe I did something wrong customize lock screen picture.
• 37:42
Let me do this again. So it's it has one of those
• 37:46
codes that I need to scan all right choose a picture.
• 37:53
I think I forgot to do something here from my gallery.
• 37:56
There's the picture for the Ledger Flex and then I say set
• 38:01
  as lock screen. OK, Maybe.
• 38:09
OK, that's what I did. OK.
• 38:12
I forgot to select which Ledger device that I wanted to put it
• 38:15
  on. My fault my.
• 38:16
Fault. Load lock screen OK Load
• 38:20
  picture. Wow.
• 38:24
Can you show us how it's going on?
• 38:26
Yeah. So, yes, well, this is what was
• 38:30
going on on my on the Ledger Live app.
• 38:35
I had to connect the device and it it downloaded the picture and
• 38:40
now it's giving me this and it's that's great.
• 38:45
And I yeah. And I need to say keep OK lock
• 38:53
screen picture set. This picture will be displayed
• 38:56
with your Ledger Flex locked or powered off.
• 38:59
OK, tap to dismiss. So I'm going to power off.
• 39:04
Oh wow. OK, there it is.
• 39:07
I'm powered off that. Looks so great, I love.
• 39:10
It and for all and for all of our viewers watching, I mean,
• 39:13
literally we just walked through that whole process.
• 39:16
I, I downloaded the picture, moved it to the, the phone where
• 39:20
the Ledger live app is located. And now it's my understanding
• 39:25
that this screen when it's in this mode is actually not using
• 39:29
any power. Is that is that accurate?
• 39:32
It's a what's it called, a live ink or or something along those
• 39:35
  lines. The E Ink.
• 39:38
  EE ink, OK. EE Ink.
• 39:40
Wow. That is, that is really cool.
• 39:43
I mean, this, this, this, I'll show one more time.
• 39:46
That is really cool. It's really nice.
• 39:49
It looks really amusing and if you have NFT on it, of course,
• 39:53
you can also load your NFT. So a lot of NFT lovers out
• 39:57
there, they love this feature. I really love it too.
• 40:01
It's it's really cool. So, and let me ask you, look,
• 40:05
I'm new to crypto, you know that and I know that there are a
• 40:09
number of NFT projects that are based on Solana that it popped
• 40:14
up around Unicorn fart dust. Can you store NFT?
• 40:18
Well, yeah, I guess you're not. The NFTS are stored on the
• 40:21
blockchain as well, correct? So, so I thought, right, I
• 40:25
  learned that. Thank you.
• 40:26
Thank you, Rami. But you can secure them with
• 40:31
your Ledger. Is that accurate an accurate
• 40:33
statement? So you can have it on your
• 40:36
Ledger Solana account, which is of course going to be on the
• 40:39
blockchain, but you're going to be able to of course, access it
• 40:43
by your Ledger private keys. So yes, indeed.
• 40:47
So if you ever wanted to sell it or transact somehow with it, it
• 40:52
would be your your, your, your hardware, your Ledger Flex.
• 40:56
My Ledger Flex hardware wallet would be the ultimate keys to to
• 41:01
approve any transaction with the NFT that would be occurring on
• 41:05
  the blockchain. Exactly.
• 41:08
OK, OK, excellent, excellent. What did I forget to ask you
• 41:12
today? Rami, you've been a great help.
• 41:14
This is really awesome. I'm, I feel like now moving
• 41:20
forward much more secure with my crypto, but also that I had, you
• 41:25
know, I understood that I needed to have better crypto security
• 41:31
before I came into this meeting with you.
• 41:33
But now I feel like I actually have a little, you know, a
• 41:36
higher level of understanding about how this works.
• 41:40
And you know, yeah, sure, my my, my crypto, my Unicorn fart dust,
• 41:45
my NF TS will live on the blockchain.
• 41:49
But the ultimate key to be able to do any transaction or to
• 41:54
approve any transaction will exist on the Ledgerflex hardware
• 41:59
wallet, which I ultimately control in which in which isn't
• 42:04
connected to the Internet. So unless I have that wrong,
• 42:11
it's very, I appreciate the education that you gave me today
• 42:15
and this higher level of security.
• 42:16
It's really great. Anytime, Ron, as you as you just
• 42:20
like beautifully explained. That's why it's so important to
• 42:23
have hardware wallets like Ledger because it's going to

help you to generate those private keys to secure your
• 42:31
cryptos on the blockchain. And then it's only you who's
• 42:35
going to have the control. So as we say, not your coin if
• 42:38
it's not your control, right? So it's it's, it's the best way
• 42:42
to have and secure it. Even if you get hacked in the
• 42:46
online environment like Internet, I don't know, like
• 42:50
you, you lose your laptop for instance, it's not going to hurt
• 42:54
your cryptos in any sense because it doesn't matter.
• 42:58
Your private keys are always going to stay on your hardware
• 43:00
wallet. They're yours, yes, yes, very,
• 43:04
very interesting. I want to mention to the viewers
• 43:06
as well, I do have an affiliate link with Ledger if they're
• 43:11
interested in getting one of the devices for themselves.
• 43:13
Today we went through the Ledger Flex, but there's also the
• 43:18
Ledger Stacks as well. I can show that there if you
• 43:23
have a second is there is what? What would be the difference,
• 43:28
just out of curiosity, between the Ledger Flex and the Ledger
• 43:31
Stacks? So they both can be used with
• 43:34
Bluetooth and they have the ink all sale stacks one.
• 43:38
But I would say stacks is more like high end.
• 43:42
It comes with more high end experience while flex is more
• 43:47
daily use, at least for me. And yeah, both, both are great
• 43:51
products. Both are great products and in
• 43:54
front in terms of what they accomplish with from a hardware
• 43:57
wallet perspective, they're they're both essentially doing
• 44:01
doing the same thing in terms of keeping your your keys off off
• 44:06
the Internet. Generating your keys and.
• 44:10
Keeping them yeah and, and I and I want to repeat one more time
• 44:13
to our viewers out there. Obviously, most people know I
• 44:16
had a, a rather before I moved crypto to to a hardware wallet,
• 44:25
had a, a hack, I guess there's no other way to say it, and lost
• 44:27
a substantial amount of of crypto during that situation.
• 44:32
It was a very public event. I think everybody knows about
• 44:35
it. I want to repeat, you know,
• 44:37
everybody, including me, thinks about security after something
• 44:43
happens. Please learn from me, right?
• 44:46
Think about security before something happens because when
• 44:50
you hear people talk about, you know, these unfortunate
• 44:53
circumstances, I can vouch for you.
• 44:55
I'll be the, you know, the, the, the bad are, are the example.
• 44:59
These things do happen. So think about security before
• 45:03
  something happens. Definitely, definitely thanks
• 45:07
Ron, for today. Like it was really a pleasure
• 45:09
for me to be part of this and really nice to meet your
• 45:13
community also out there and can't wait to have something
• 45:16
else with you very soon. And congratulations once again
• 45:20
with your token. I look forward to seeing your
• 45:24
community with us more and more and hear you soon.
• 45:29
Yeah, well, thank you, Romney, on behalf of of my community,
• 45:33
thank you also because a lot of the people who are buying
• 45:35
Unicorn fart dust are like me, first time crypto.
• 45:39
That's their first experience with crypto.
• 45:41
And I can't reiterate enough how important it is to consider
• 45:45
security up front. And you did a great job today.
• 45:50
This app experience with Ledger Live was in my opinion, like I
• 45:54
said, first class seamless. The Ledger Flex as I look at it
• 45:59
here with with the little, the little Unicorn on there with the
• 46:02
E Ink is really awesome. And hey, you never know, I may
• 46:07
see you sometime in Paris or you may be in Saint Louis.
• 46:10
You can come visit us here in the basement.
• 46:12
  Definitely. OK.
• 46:14
  Thank you. Bye Ron.
• 46:16
  Bye community. Bye bye.
