- 0:09SPEAKER_01: Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sass and Sips, where every week we discuss and dissect another episode of Agnes's not so favorite show, Lost.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: We are your hosts.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: I'm Lisa.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: And I'm Agnes.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: And today's episode is one of us from season three.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: And as you know, we do this while we drink.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: What are you drinking today?
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: I'm keeping, I'm keeping it um traditional.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: I'm purist today, Stella, all the way.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Yes, I have a Stella too.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: But I have the solstice solstice lager today.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Can I say it?
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Can I say it?
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Say it.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: I told you it's good.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: It is good.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: I have to admit though, it is good.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: It's better than I thought it was going to be.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Although I would prefer the traditional Stella over this.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: It's a different, it's a light.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: It's a lighter Stella.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: Even more like dark, like Guinness dark lagers, but the dark one is like a light lager.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: So it's even I enjoyed that.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: I would just down that.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: It was really good.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're they're they go down easy.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: That's what she said.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: And she knows what she's doing.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: No complaints.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: So left behind, a Juliet episode.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Any thoughts before we jump into flashbacks?
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: We're not doing left behind.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: We're doing one of us.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: So pretend like I said it right.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: Um, it was okay.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: It was, I did have to say it proved my point.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: But did it?
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: It did.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: But did it?
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: It did, but it did.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: It did.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: But you think so?
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, I hate you now.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Okay, fine.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Because I know you were gonna say that.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: So I'm ready for you today.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Okay, it proved my thought.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: I think I was right, but it proved my thought.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: But as we all know, Lost is the absolute long con of television shows.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: So Lost is the fuckboy of TV shows.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: You know, I've never heard it referred to as that, but I'm not going to argue.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Okay, in flashback, we're going back to September 21st, 2001.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Juliet and Rachel, right?
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Pre-9-11 world, imagine.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: As Juliet and Rachel pull up to the to the gate of Midalos Bioscience Center, Juliet turns off the radio.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Ethan Rom and Richard Alpert come out to welcome Juliet and inform her that for security reasons, her sister cannot accompany her past the entrance.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: Juliette says goodbye to Rachel, thinking that she will be back in six months.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Wrong.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Juliet has a moment of doubt, but Rachel reassures her, pointing out that her cancer is completely gone and that she's finally going to have a baby.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Juliette promises to return before the birth.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: After signing papers in a sitting area of Hera Rat Aviation, keep that in mind, Ethan and Richard ask Juliet if they can record her vitals.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Richard empties a packet of powder into a glass of orange juice quite openly.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And when Julie when Juliet wearily asks what it is, he calmly states it's a tranquilizer.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Because you know, that's just standard procedure, right?
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Right, everyone does that.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Ethan says it's for the best because the journey ahead will be pretty intense.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: And seeing that Juliet is bulking, Richard reminds her that if she works for them, she can accomplish great things to help many people, and that she has already accepted a lot of unusual, unusual requests.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: He's like, but why are you fine with it?
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Richard is like also, I love him.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: But like he's just like, but why?
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: But like here we are telling you to do like all these crazy things, and and this is like, you know, why are you fine with all of them, but not this?
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Still, that's the gaslighting situation.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Like, oh, but you should be okay with this.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: You're okay with everything else.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: What the fuck?
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: A bitch got her limits.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: So she let him gaslight her.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: Crazy shit.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Juliet gulps the arms juice down in one go.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: And Ethan says she shouldn't have drank it so fast.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Julia slumps unconscious almost right away.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: She awakes in the Galaga.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Her hands, waist, and feet are restrained tightly on a bunk.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: She tries to speak but lost her voice.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: And Ethan says she'll just be a little horse for a few hours.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: So not a big horse, just a little horse.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: He apologizes ha ha ha.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: He apologizes for strapping her in as the last leg is always a little bumpy and tells her that they've arrived.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: She makes her way up through the exit hatch on her own, still feeling the effects of the tranquilizer.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: As she steps out, she finds herself in a tropical climate with an imposing jungle and clips in front of her.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: On the dock, Ben Linus introduces himself and welcomes her to the island.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: December 2001.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: They're in the staff operating theater, and a pregnant woman, Sabine, dies on the table while being operated on by Ethan and Juliet.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, by Ethan with Juliet and Goodwin's assistance.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Goodwin attempts to comfort the distraught Juliet, telling her to leave and that he will speak to Ben.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Ben approaches Juliet outside as she sits on the rocky coast.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Ben says Sabine knew the risks she was taking when she became pregnant.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Juliet declares her theory that the problems occur when the baby is conceived, and that she can only be certain of her theory if she is allowed to take one of the women back to Miami.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Ben flatly refuses.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: So Juliet says there is nothing more she can do.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: She apologizes and acknowledges that Ben put a lot of faith in her, but it's time for her to go home to her sister, who is only three months away from having her baby.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Ben informs Juliet that her sister won't be giving birth in three months because her cancer has returned and that she will be dead before Juliet can return.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: He takes a folder of medical papers from his bag, documenting the cancer.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Like, how does he just have this already in his bag?
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: What the fuck?
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: We've asked that same question numerous and sundry of times.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: Like how they have all this information.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Not just that, how does he have it, but that why does he just why is he carrying around his sister's, her sister's cancer information?
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: How do you know what's in there?
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: I don't remember.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Did they actually show the paper?
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: Did she actually look at the paperwork?
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Well he says it says that he takes he take remember they're sitting there, he's trying to come for her, and she wants to go home.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: And then he tells him that her cancer has returned and she'll be dead before she can return.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: But my question is, does she actually look at the paperwork?
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: It he shows her the EKGs.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: I mean, I guess there's always a possibility that they're not actually Rachel's or I mean, okay, so we could also we can surmise that she's been feeling this way for a minute now.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: So she's had it, so he knew it was coming, so he had this stuff with him.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: Like any good con artist, he's prepared.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: For that very moment when she says, Hey, I want to go home, and he's like, Ah, you're not going home.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Your sister is dying.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: I mean, like I said, if if he knows it's coming any day now, it's quite possible he kept it close at hand.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Because like I said, any good con artist is, you know, because I don't see her, I don't see her.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, these feelings don't pop up out of nowhere.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: No, mind you.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Is she told her six months?
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: How many?
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: How long has it been so far at this point?
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: She's been there for three months at this point.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: At this point, and things are going down here, so I'm sure her discontent was slowly building.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Well, and it makes sense.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: Like your theory makes sense that he anticipated it.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: Which means I'm probably wrong because this is lost.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Um, Juliet asks where he got the information, and Ben says he got it from Mikhail.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: He offers a deal to Juliet.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: If she stays on the island and continues her research, he will make sure that Rachel's cancer is cured.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: Because, you know.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Because he's the wizard behind the curtain.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: He's yeah, he's definitely the man behind the curtain.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: He points out that none of the people on the island have ever had cancer.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: And Juliet retorts, that's here, and that Ben won't let Juliet bring Rachel to the island.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: He says that Jacob will take care of it personally unless Juliet doesn't even have faith in him.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Here we go again with Jacob.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Now, September 20th, 2004, two days before the crash.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Juliette is eating ice cream, you know, post coitus with Goodwin and observes that the next day will mark her third year on the island.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: There is a knock at the door, and Julia tells Goodwin to wait there.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Carl has developed some x-rays for her, and she looks at them with concern, then marches over to Ben's house.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: He welcomes her and comments that the book she recommended, Carrie, is depressing.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Like no shit.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: She shows the x-rays to Ben, explaining that what she is what she assumed was a small fracture or herniated disc is actually a large tumor surrounded his L4 vertebrae.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: Ben is taken aback and Juliet asks why he is surprised.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: He says it's because he has cancer, and she points out that she said it was a tumor, not cancer.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: She asks him why he is scared, but he denies that he is as he goes to the kitchen for a glass of water.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Juliet angrily challenges Ben's claim that nobody on the island ever had cancer and calls him a liar.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: How could he promise to cure Rachel and claim no one has ever had cancer on the island?
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: So what is she to make of his promise to cure Rachel?
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: She suspects that Ben might never have saved Rachel's life after all.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: She demands to see her sister, furiously knocking the glass out of Ben's hand.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: He refuses, and Juliet screams that he has lied to her all this time.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Ben insists that Rachel is fine, and Juliet burst into tears, begging him to let her go home.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: He coldly replies no and leaves Juliet sobbing on the kitchen counter.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Now, September 22nd, 2004, the day of the crash.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Juliette wipes tears from her eyes as she prepares for her book club meeting.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: And this is all stuff that we've seen before.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: After the crash, Juliet and Ben walk to the flame.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Inside, a stack of TV monitors show Oceanic Flight 815 leaving and news reports from numerous networks reporting that the flight is missing somewhere in the Pacific.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: Mikhail gives Ben the basic facts about Oceanic A fifteen, such as that 324 people were on board.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Ben asks for detailed files on every passenger.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Mikhail says that he's already on it.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Ben asks Mikhail to uplink to Richard in Acadia Park.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Juliet looks on, clutching the Stephen King novel, and Ben puts a pair of headphones saying that he was hurt when she called him a liar.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: The screen shows an image of the Miami Journal.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Ben, seemingly communicating with the person who is operating the camera, asks Richard to zoom in to the newspaper showing the date as September 22nd, 2004, to show that the feed is live.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: The camera moves to show Rachel in a park playing with the toddler.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Ben says that a little over two years ago, to everyone's surprise, Rachel's cancer went into complete remission.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Juliet is overjoyed and grips the screen while crying.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: Ben says that shortly after Rachel recovered, she gave birth to a boy whom she named Julian.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: Ben thanks Richard and tells him to get back here as soon as he can because they may have some visitors.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: He closes the connection with Richard and Mikhail shuts down the video feed.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: Juliette frantically begs for a few more moments.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Ben points out again that this proves he wasn't lying.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: She asks him again to return home, but Ben tells her she cannot leave because that's not our agreement.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: She must stay on the island until her work is finished.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Juliette pleads that it's impossible because the mothers keep dying.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: Ben says they will find more mothers and suggests that there might even be one on the plane.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go on to present day and then we'll do the last flashback.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: That sounds like a plan, Stan.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Okie dokie.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: Kate, Saeed, Jack, and Juliet make their way back to the beach.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: They collect firewood, and Kate wonders why Jack hasn't said anything about what happened in the week he spent with the others.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: Jack explains that he cut a deal with them by helping Ben.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: He says, I did what they told me and didn't ask any questions.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Kate is skeptical that it was that simple, but leaves it alone.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, Saeed questions Juliet about who she is, but she refuses to tell him anything.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: She says he would kill her if she tells him everything he wants to know.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: I took this two ways.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: So, like on first instinct, it sounds like he's saying, like she's saying that if I told you what I wanted to know, like you'd kill me because of the information.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: But then I was thinking, but uh does she just think that maybe if she gives him the information then she serves no more use to him, not uh because of what it is, but just that like why keep her around if he got the information already?
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: I kind of just brushed it off to be like it meaning figuratively, not a literal thing, like you fucking kill me.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Like I didn't even think of it that deeply.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: Okay, so just me got it.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Pretty much he bluntly implies that he will kill her if she doesn't.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Jack returns and sell tells Saeed to leave Juliet alone and that she is under his protection.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Excuse me while I roll my eyes.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Fucking Jack.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Seeing the way Juliet has carried herself, I'm I'm pretty sure that if anybody needs protection, Jack should be under Juliet's protection, not the other way around.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I don't think she knows that.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Does he know that though?
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: Has he seen it?
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: I mean so, has he?
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: No, he just thinks that he's Jack and every woman needs to be protected by him.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's chivalry and then there's kind of and there's there's Jack.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: But it's like I get it.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: I I do get it because he trusts her, like they have a rapport, but he doesn't know how much time she has or has not spent with say Kate.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: I mean, granted, Saeed really wasn't over there like Kate was, but you know, how does how does Jack know?
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Like maybe Kate saw things.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: Maybe Kate and Juliet became besties when they were handcuffed and jungle wrestling.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't think he thought that far.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: It wasn't that deep for him.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: But exactly, that's what I'm saying.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: Like he just doesn't think he's like, Oh, I'm man, I take care of women.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: Pound on chest as you drink your beer.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, hold on while I scratch and burp.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: What uh okay.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: On the beach, Charlie hears Aaron crying, but Claire is sleeping and unaware.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: Charlie confronts uh Charlie confronts Aaron.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, why watch out, baby?
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: No, Charlie comforts Aaron and wakes Claire.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: She complains that he isn't that she isn't feeling well.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: I think I've already drank too much.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Charlie takes the baby and leaves Claire to sleep.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: Said violently plows his way through the jungle, annoyed at Jack's siding with the enemy, while Jack and Juliet struggle to keep up.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: Neither Kate nor Saeed trust Jack's opinion of Juliet, and Juliet expresses concern over how the other survivors will react to her presence.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Jack tries to joke about the situation, but Juliet admits to being nervous.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Claire wakes and looks sick.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: Shocker.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Sawyer goes to get her some aspirin.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: The camp notices Jack returning to the beach with Kate and Saeed.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: Everyone shares welcome and hugs with the returning castaways.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: Sawyer is particularly relieved to see that Kate is safe and they share a loving hug.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: His face, when he sees her, that's everything.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: His face.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: It was good acting, I have to say.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: I enjoyed that.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: Um I still don't think Kate deserves Sawyer, though.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: Maybe, maybe not.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Go figure the fucking con artist.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Like, maybe they'll you know end up together and be happily ever after.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: I wish they could see my face.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: Like yeah, I know.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: That's the eye roll of all eye rolls right there.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Then Sawyer notices Juliet and he's like, What the hell is she doing here?
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Soon after her arrival, Hurley joins Juliet on the beach and asks her who she is and why she wasn't on the dock that day when they captured them.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: She says she had the day off.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: That I mean that was a good line though.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: And then Bluntly remarks that she knows that he's only speaking to her because he was told to keep an eye on her.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Hurley proceeds to tell the story of the last other who was with them, Ethan, and coldly points to the spot where they buried him.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Jack attempts to convince members of the camp that Juliet was left behind as well and that she can be trusted.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: He also informs everyone that while Juliet is now one of us, Locke has joined the others as one of them, highlighting the significance of the situation.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: Claire then stumbles into the camp meeting and Charlie catches her as she begins to cough blood.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Jack helps Charlie carry Claire to her tent and Juliet calls to Kate.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: She explains that she needs to talk to Jack immediately, saying, I know what's wrong with Claire because I did it to her.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Juliette reveals to Jack and Kate that pregnant women always die on the island because the woman's body begins to attack the fetus as if it were a foreign object.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: She explains that Ethan was placed in their camp to take blood samples from Claire and administer Juliet's medication, which is why she was the first woman to give birth on the island without dying.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: She explains that the plan fell apart when Hurley realized that Ethan was not one of the survivors.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Ethan kidnapped Claire on his own initiative without consulting with the others, and that kidnapping Claire was never the plan, and continued to administer the drugs.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: She explains that Claire is suffering withdrawal symptoms from the medication and that she must administer them or Claire will die.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: She gains Jack's approval to run to a hiding place where Ethan used to store the medication.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, Sawyer and Said watch from a distance and confirm their suspicions of Juliet.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Juliet reaches a tree with a marking and finds a black case in the weeds.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: As she unlatches the case, Sawyer and Said appear.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Sawyer opens the case and sees medical supplies.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: They tell her she will not be returning to camp until they get some answers about who she is.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: She counterattacks, saying about how strange it is that Said and Sawyer have begun to cast moral judgment given the crimes that they have committed in the past.
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: I'm telling you the truth.
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: You said earlier, if you told me everything you knew, I'd kill you.
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna test the validity of that state.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: We don't have time for that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: Exactly how many people you've tortured in your life.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: So why don't we just skip the part?
- 21:25SPEAKER_03: I'm taking that medication back to Claire.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Because if she doesn't get it, she's gonna die.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: And the last thing that either of you need right now.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: That was cold.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, at this point, as she's res you know, as she goes through this scene, I'm like, oh, you fucking and like if I was Saeed, I would just kill the like on principle alone.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: Like, all right, bitch.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Juliet arrives on the beach with the medication.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Charlie is reluctant to let her near Claire, but Jack implores Charlie to trust his judgment.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Juliet states that the medication should go into effect within a few hours, and Jack warns Juliet that he will be unable to protect her from the rest of the camp if Claire doesn't recover, that she will be on her own.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Juliet responds that she is already on her own and administers the medication.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: I like that because that's kind of like a nice way to say fuck you to Jack.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Because Jack is like, oh, you're under my protection.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: She's under my protection.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna protect her.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: And he's like, but if you didn't do this, I can't protect you anymore.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: She's like, like, I'm already on my own.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: Like, what are you doing?
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: Here's a bag of dicks.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: Charlie has nodded off next to Claire's bed with one finger in Baby Aaron's grasp and the other holding hand, the other hand holding Claire's.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Claire wakes and asks, What happened?
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: Charlie is relieved to see that she is better, and they smile lovingly at each other.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: On the beach, Jack brings Juliet a tart blankets and a few airline pillows, otherwise known as the uh Lost Beach Startup Shelter.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Starter kit.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: Like they need to be like a Facebook meme for this.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: There has to be Beach Camp starter kit.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: He tells her that eventually they will want answers.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: She asks why Jack also hasn't pressed her for answers.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: And he replies that she was next to him when the submarine was blown up.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: And he saw in her eyes that the one thing she wanted more than anything was to get off the island.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: That makes you one of us.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: I think that he's a hundred percent right, but that's what makes her dangerous.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: Because she'll do anything to get off the island.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: I think he's underestimating her.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: I think he just sees her as a helpless help, as a helpless woman that he needs to put down to protect, but he's gonna underestimate everything that she does and the reason behind everything she does.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: He's so hesitant on Sawyer's motives.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: I mean, Sawyer has little sketchy motives, but for the most part, they're harmless.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: You know, they're just really you know that.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: Meanwhile, you have this chick you don't know from Adam, and she's literally one of the others.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't give a fuck how nice she may be, she's one of the others, and he's just like, Oh, but she's Juliet, right?
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: And you see, you see already like what they're capable of, so I don't know, dude.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Dude, I wouldn't, I would not, I would be more like Sawyer and Saeed.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: I would not be as trusting as Jack.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't trust anybody, so I'm will I've I I co-sign that.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: And then after we see Juliet save the day and rescue Claire, we cut to one last flashback.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: Juliet and wheelchair-bound Ben sit at his kitchen table at night.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: He tells her to go over the plan again, and Juliet recites it.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: She will take Kate into the jungle, handcuffed together, pretending that she has been left behind as well.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: If she's discovered, she'll admit it, but claims she did it to simply gain to gain Kate's trust.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: After that, they'll go back to the beach camp.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: Though Juliet comments that there may be a trust issue surrounding her from Kate's group.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: Ben replies that they have already set off the implant in Claire, making her symptomatic in the next 48 hours.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: By the time Juliet arrives, there will be a perfect opportunity to gain trust by her ability to save Claire.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: Ben has already sent Price to put the serum at Ethan's old drop-off point for her to use.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: They exchange stares as Ben gives Juliet a mask and leaves, stating, I'll see you in a week.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: Before we just we talk about the last scene.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: But Ben also says to her something along the lines of, like, are you okay?
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: And she's like, she stares at him with like fucking dead eyes, you know, like that that dead ass stare.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: And she's just like, I'm fine.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: And we all know when a woman says she's fine, she's not so so maybe she's love that because that totally throws a wrench into everything you thought you knew.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Because is she fine?
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Is she doing a double agent shit?
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Is she on his side?
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: Like, what's she doing?
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: So, in this case, she's a triple agent, but they don't know that she knows that they know that she knows.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: Word.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, as Julia ties the knot on her shelter, her beach camp starter kit, she recalls the conversation with Ben that we just talked about.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: She watches the survivors of Flight 813 as they laugh and chat.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: Though she smiles cutely to Jack, her private expression is reflective as she turns away, tightening the reef knot in a figure eight.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: And with that, bum bum bum, the episode ends.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: So you think Juliet is just definitely like all team others.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: I think she's team Juliet.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: I I I would a thousand percent agree with that.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: Oh, yay! Considering you know more than I do, I was right.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: Yay!
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Hey everyone, Lisa here.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: I want to take a moment to tell you about this really cool travel backpack that I got.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: It's made by Muslim and it's so cool.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: As you know, Agnes and I are not in the same state.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: So we travel to see each other quite frequently.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: This backpack makes it so easy to do so.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: The bag has space for everything.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: When I fly, I don't like to check a bag.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: This makes it so easy for me to bring everything that I need with me on carry-on, including recording equipment.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: It has a space for everything.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Trust me when I say that if you travel, even if it's just for a road trip, this bag is perfect for you.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Go to muzzum.com now and use our promo code SASPOD for 20% off of your new bag.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: Trust me when I say you'll love it.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: Let's do trivia.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Let's not.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: No, I'm just joking.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: I just always wanted to say that.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, it's little.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: Um, as we know, that's what he said.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: I don't think he ever said that.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: But that's probably what she said.
- 29:17SPEAKER_02: Well, he should be if they're honest with the minimum.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: I actually have one guy said that, and I never mind, but it wasn't.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: I was like, dude, this is like is that a humble brag or you just insecure?
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: And I put at that point, anybody didn't give a fuck about the psychology of the matter.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: I just need to get to the logistics of the matter.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: He wants you to be like, oh my god, you're not little.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: Like, he just he just wants to hear it.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but he didn't get that from me because I I don't have to, I didn't yeah, but you know, I'm just saying I can't be a therapist.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: I'm not all right.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: So as we've talked about before, Melos is an anagram for lost time, and Herat, as in the airport that they were at, is an anagram for Earhart, as in Amelia Earhart, who, as we all know, was a famous pilot who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: She's on the islands, she's on the island.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, wait.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: What?
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: So wait.
- 30:19SPEAKER_02: I was joking.
- 30:20SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Wait.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: So there are, I like to listen to like um podcasts about like unexplained things, and I've listened to some about Amelia Earhart, and a lot of people do think that she did land on an uncharted island and actually like live there, you know, until she died.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: However, according to Lost, not according to Lost, but in the world of Lost, I'm pretty sure that Juliet's friend, like the older woman, um, that she does like the book club with, her name is Amelia.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: So maybe that's where she did end up.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: Maybe that was the island she landed on.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, everyone's dead on the fucking island to begin with.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, yep.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: Okay, but yeah, that's it for trivia.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: Um, let me see.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: We got another mention of Locke leaving with the others, and we still don't know where the fuck he went.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: I'm sad.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we are reminded again how Ben hates to let anybody let anybody off the island.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: And that makes me think of Michael and Walt.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: Do you ever think about them?
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: Every so often, once it's in the blue moon.
- 31:40SPEAKER_02: I just I mean, I kind of like did he really let them off the island?
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Especially knowing so much more about how reluctant he is to let anybody go.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: And and he was just like, here's the here's the case to the boat, you know, just and it's how about if you go to this direction, you're gonna find the real like compass direction.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: I'm like, okay, so what do you so that made me think of kind of magnetic?
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: So we all know there's some magnetic pull or something that's fucking with everything.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: Like, so I'm like, really?
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: Did he really get off the island?
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: Because this is purgatory, they're all dead.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: I'm just joking.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: So he he's in another, he's in another room of purgatory, he's in a different island of purgatory.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: He's in he's in room 24.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: He's he's and he's thinking he's he thinks he's he's being clockworks oranged.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Okay, uh, anything else before we wrap this up?
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Okay, so the the title is pretty self-explanatory, right?
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: One of us, she is, but is she locked is now one of them.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: Anyway, let's do some housekeeping stuff.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: As you guys may have heard or seen that we released a promo for another podcast into our podcast feed.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: We have been connecting with some other podcasts that we have gotten to know.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: And you know, podcasting is a community, you know.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: We so we like to help each other out.

- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Um, we think that you'll enjoy them.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: The other thing, we want to issue you guys a challenge.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: We are trying to also increase our listenership a little bit, and so we ask this week for a challenge that you share um any or as many of our Facebook posts as you'd like, or Instagram, or Twitter, any any of our social media.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: So we ask that you do that, um, and just make sure you tag us so that we can see and thank you for it.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: And that is it, I believe, for housekeeping.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, that'll do it for this episode.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: Next week's episode is catch 22, and it is a Desmond episode, and Desmond episodes are usually pretty fun.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: So, hopefully, you will be back with us for that one.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: And as always, please, if you do enjoy what you hear, we ask that you consider supporting the show.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: Um, tell a friend, just just download it into their phone, you know, like surprise them.
- 34:36SPEAKER_02: Like here, bitch.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: I've done into people, like, let me see your phone, and then I go to the podcast and I just you know hit subscribe and download.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it might work, you know.
- 34:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, do you tell them that you did it?
- 34:50SPEAKER_02: Because um, I probably wouldn't even notice it.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but if but then if you hit play sometimes, um like I know I have an iPhone, so an iPhone it just does like listen now, and so sometimes it'll just pick what you hear based on like what your most recent listening was, or like what you most recently um subscribed to or downloaded.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: So you know, yeah, because if you hit like play and then pause, as soon as they get into their car, boom.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: Like that's how yeah, so that'll be fun, um, or scary, maybe either.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: And in the meantime, until next week, and always please remember to drink responsibly, do not drink and drive.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: And we will talk to you next week.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: I'm Lisa, and I'm Agnes, and we are out of here.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: You're muted.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: I'm Agnes, and see you later bye.
