- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everybody. I'm Eddie Cassias from the Voodoo Gloss Skulls.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I play guitar. We're about to head Australia November twenty
- 0:07Speaker 1: seventh December first with our friends Hay Smith from Japan.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We'll be playing at the sky Nation Festival as well
- 0:16Speaker 1: in Thornbury at I forget the name of the venue
- 0:20Speaker 1: or the Croxton Band Room, I believe a very nice place.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And it's it's been a while, it's been about ten years.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We're excited to come back yet a Flodi.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Thanks for joining us today, Runner, thanks for having me
- 0:35Speaker 3: all right, pleasure So as you say, Voodoo Glove Skulls
- 0:37Speaker 3: return to Australia later this month for running shows starting
- 0:41Speaker 3: in Adelaide on the twenty seventh in November, and you
- 0:43Speaker 3: hit Brisbane, Sydney and finished with sky Nation Festival in
- 0:47Speaker 3: Kolak on the thirtieth of November.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Mate, So it's not.
- 0:49Speaker 2: That long now.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Maybe you have packed already to be packed ready to go,
- 0:52Speaker 3: or have you got a few other things between now
- 0:53Speaker 3: and then.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I have a we have a couple of things. We
- 0:57Speaker 2: actually have one one main thing.
- 0:59Speaker 1: We're playing at the Punk in the Park Festival in
- 1:01Speaker 1: San Diego, California. That's our next thing, which is a
- 1:04Speaker 1: week and a half away, the following Saturday, not not
- 1:09Speaker 1: this coming Saturday, but the following one. We're doing that
- 1:11Speaker 1: in San Diego.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Uh. Pretty stacked lineup, you know, with.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Some some bigger bands like the Offspring and and Penny.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Wise, it's gonna be a good one.
- 1:21Speaker 1: That's the next one, and that that sets us up
- 1:24Speaker 1: right before Australia, which is ten days after that.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So I'll pack like the night or two before. It's
- 1:31Speaker 2: such a short trip that.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'll I kind of have it down already, so I'll
- 1:34Speaker 1: like the night or two before as long as as
- 1:37Speaker 1: long as I have clothes washed, man, I'll pack quick.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And on that subject, my log I'm punk in the park,
- 1:43Speaker 3: Like if playing with bands Offspring and Penny was so
- 1:46Speaker 3: where do you go sit in the scheme of things?
- 1:48Speaker 3: He stays with punk sky bands, Like are you the
- 1:51Speaker 3: godfathers of the circle? And something like that, like does
- 1:53Speaker 3: everyone come to you for advice? So you sort of
- 1:55Speaker 3: sit in the middle.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Like it's always felt like we've been at least somewhere
- 2:01Speaker 1: in the middle. We've always kind of managed the cruise
- 2:04Speaker 1: through it all. It feels like, you know, and I
- 2:07Speaker 1: think as the band gets older and we're you know,
- 2:10Speaker 1: we're we're just around and we travel and stuff like that,
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think people kind of catch on to.
- 2:17Speaker 2: The fact that we've we've we've been.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Around for a long time and are for sure one
- 2:22Speaker 1: of those bands at least, so I'm told, Yeah, I mean,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I mean, you don't really go go around thinking that
- 2:27Speaker 1: stuff and then all of a sudden people tell you
- 2:29Speaker 1: stuff like that, you know that you're ogs or that
- 2:32Speaker 1: you're this or that.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Which is cool, you know.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I mean, it just means that we've gotten to be
- 2:35Speaker 1: around for a long time and uh, I guess the
- 2:39Speaker 1: test of time, you know, so to speak. You know,
- 2:42Speaker 1: so we're it's just good to be in the mix
- 2:45Speaker 1: to do, you know, like to be able to do
- 2:46Speaker 1: your thing that you created, you know, yourself, and be
- 2:50Speaker 1: able to be in the mix, uh, through all the
- 2:53Speaker 1: through all the comings and goings of bands and fads
- 2:56Speaker 1: and you know, like musical tastes and all that, you
- 3:00Speaker 1: know what I mean, we just kind of try to
- 3:01Speaker 1: have been able to cruise through it all and somewhat
- 3:04Speaker 1: to me, stay like right right in the middle.
- 3:06Speaker 2: And if not.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We're usually build a little higher these days because we
- 3:10Speaker 1: we've been around the block, which is cool too, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: of course, you know, but uh, we're we're like like,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'm just punk in the park thing.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:18Speaker 1: There's some bands that are younger that have you know,
- 3:21Speaker 1: had had more success quicker, you know, which is great.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You know, it's it's you know, I mean, it's anybody.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I mean, it's a big roll out there, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 1: with a bunch of talent, and it's anybody's game, you
- 3:31Speaker 1: know what I mean. We're just glad to be a
- 3:32Speaker 1: part of it and get to you know, be you know,
- 3:35Speaker 1: like lumped in with some of the best bands still
- 3:38Speaker 1: or some of the best you know, bands that get
- 3:39Speaker 1: you like chosen to be on these shows with these giants,
- 3:43Speaker 1: you know.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Sure now from our research, it looks like this is
- 3:47Speaker 3: going to be your first vidituous rise since two thousand
- 3:50Speaker 3: and thirteen. So it's a long time between drinks, mate, Like,
- 3:53Speaker 3: what's changed with the Booty Glow Skulls from the last
- 3:55Speaker 3: time you're out of here?
- 3:58Speaker 1: Well, we had a bunch of band changes, for sure,
- 4:01Speaker 1: like a bunch of band personnel lineups.
- 4:03Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:04Speaker 1: My older brother, the lead singer Frank quit the band
- 4:08Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen, so like like only a few years
- 4:11Speaker 1: after we were there last in Australia and then it
- 4:16Speaker 1: is back now, just came back recently again and we
- 4:18Speaker 1: rejoined at the beginning of October. So so he he's
- 4:25Speaker 1: he uh, he's coming back to Australia with with us,
- 4:28Speaker 1: So he's not he didn't miss any Australia, you know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: he's gonna he's just get get gets the jump right
- 4:32Speaker 1: back in. And one of the first the first things
- 4:35Speaker 1: he does is on Australian tour, which is great, but
- 4:39Speaker 1: that that's the major change. And we put out another record,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know, with a with a different lineup, you know,
- 4:46Speaker 1: without my brother, which came out in twenty twenty twenty one.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So that's a lot of changes. That's a lot of
- 4:54Speaker 1: that's a lot of things happening right right there alone.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And then besides that, we've just kind of been everywhere,
- 5:00Speaker 1: you know, we've we've we've been. We've been traveling quite
- 5:02Speaker 1: a bit, you know, did the South America, did some
- 5:05Speaker 1: Europe a few times, among we went to Japan.
- 5:10Speaker 2: So there's been a few things.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I want to go into the ins announcement too much, bro,
- 5:15Speaker 3: But just with your brother leaving the band, Like, how
- 5:17Speaker 3: was that for you? Like, it's sort of not just
- 5:19Speaker 3: like a bandmate leaving. It was the actual brother sort
- 5:23Speaker 3: of leave a bit of a bit of a hole fear.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean it, I mean, of course, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: mean it was a big deal. And uh it was
- 5:31Speaker 1: one of those things where where you get like a test.
- 5:33Speaker 1: It feels like almost like a test. Well it's like
- 5:35Speaker 1: what are you gonna do, sink or swim? Are you
- 5:36Speaker 1: going to keep on doing what you've always done or
- 5:39Speaker 1: are you going to hang it up and just retire?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Which we we we we were going to do that.
- 5:43Speaker 1: We were gonna we were going to hang it up
- 5:45Speaker 1: and just kind of retire like announced, like make an
- 5:48Speaker 1: announcement when that went down, and then we had a
- 5:52Speaker 1: friend of ours send us an email that would was
- 5:56Speaker 1: glad to step in, and somehow it worked for seven years,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you know, but uh, but we were ready to stop,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So it did affect us,
- 6:05Speaker 1: you know, you know, but you we decided to keep
- 6:07Speaker 1: on going and just you know, it's like, well, just
- 6:11Speaker 1: because one guy doesn't want to do it anymore, you
- 6:13Speaker 1: know that you have to evaluate yourself and people next
- 6:15Speaker 1: to you and see if they want to continue and
- 6:17Speaker 1: all that.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But it did leave, of course, a big market a
- 6:20Speaker 2: big hole. Yeah. I mean, that's that's family, you know.
- 6:23Speaker 2: You see that.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You see a lot more when you when you're traveling
- 6:26Speaker 1: together and doing a band or a business together or
- 6:29Speaker 1: or whatever it is. You know, but it affected it
- 6:34Speaker 1: for sure, you know what I mean in many ways.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Now you're coming out here with Japanese sky punk outfit,
- 6:40Speaker 3: Hey Smith, So it's not often you get an American
- 6:43Speaker 3: band supporting a Japanese band in Australia.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, they asked us that. That's that's just the way
- 6:51Speaker 2: it was.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Uh. It was presented to us, you know we uh
- 6:54Speaker 1: we know, uh Hey Smith, because they brought us.
- 6:57Speaker 2: They actually brought us out to.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Japan at the beginning of their last of their last
- 7:02Speaker 1: Japanese tour to support their their latest album So.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We We We We We were there about eight.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Months ago with them and did their first four shows
- 7:15Speaker 1: of their of their Japanese tour, and then, uh, this
- 7:19Speaker 1: was presented like I mean, completely separate. You know, we
- 7:22Speaker 1: just got asked to do this by these Australian dudes.
- 7:26Speaker 1: You know, and uh, and they put it together, you know,
- 7:29Speaker 1: so it was there, it was there, it was their doing.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean it's interesting to go support them there.
- 7:35Speaker 2: But I mean it's not that far fetched.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I mean could I mean considering how how the Japanese
- 7:40Speaker 1: tour was, which is I mean, it's it's their country
- 7:42Speaker 1: and all that, but it was it was insane. You know,
- 7:45Speaker 1: those guys are pretty big in their own in their
- 7:47Speaker 1: own country. I don't know about about Australia they're known
- 7:51Speaker 1: at all, but uh, it was pretty wild.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So it made sense to support them there for sure.
- 7:57Speaker 4: And it's gonna be their first time during Australian mine.
- 7:59Speaker 3: So are you going to bring him up to spade
- 8:01Speaker 3: on what to expect or are just gonna sit back
- 8:03Speaker 3: and laugh while they figure it out?
- 8:07Speaker 2: Well, I mean they're they're I don't know if they
- 8:12Speaker 2: understand me so much. Man.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean by the time the translation goes through,
- 8:18Speaker 1: they already would have figured it out, you know, or
- 8:21Speaker 1: like learned the hard way, so to speak. But uh, yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I think I think the I think the I think
- 8:26Speaker 1: they'll they'll they'll they'll be fine. I mean, these days
- 8:29Speaker 1: with with technology and all and all, that too. They
- 8:32Speaker 1: probably know more about Australia than we both do.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I'm sure you that. So that's been the wall since
- 8:38Speaker 3: I've been out of him, mate. So what what Canosi
- 8:40Speaker 3: fans expect from a video Globe Skulls live show.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Well, right now especially we're just on Ah, we're just
- 8:48Speaker 1: playing like what we considered like like like the classic songs.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We're getting down to the meat potatoes of but we
- 8:55Speaker 1: would think people want want to see from from the band,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So that's that's the first thing,
- 8:59Speaker 1: is we're trying to hit up all the classic songs
- 9:03Speaker 1: so to speak, or the standout songs that people would
- 9:05Speaker 1: expect from from a show, you know. And uh, it's
- 9:09Speaker 1: it's pretty high, it's pretty high energy right right now.
- 9:11Speaker 1: We have a we have a good lineup right now.
- 9:14Speaker 1: We have some good new horn players that are that
- 9:17Speaker 1: are delivering the goods man that we rehearsed with a lot,
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know.
- 9:20Speaker 2: So that's exciting.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Got a young like a younger new sax player that's
- 9:24Speaker 1: great and uh kind of a virtuoso player, and same
- 9:28Speaker 1: same with a trombone player as well, and then as
- 9:31Speaker 1: well as the rest of the band to the core
- 9:33Speaker 1: of the fourth piece of the band.
- 9:34Speaker 2: You know, we're we're pretty well rehearsed.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Man, we've been we've been touring for a while with
- 9:40Speaker 1: with without my brother. Actually we were still rehearsing a
- 9:43Speaker 1: lot and just got got off the tour that I
- 9:45Speaker 1: actually sang lead vocals on. So we so we've been
- 9:49Speaker 1: rehearsed pretty well. And when he jumped back in, it
- 9:52Speaker 1: was still like a machine.
- 9:53Speaker 2: You know. He just jumped back in and did his part,
- 9:56Speaker 2: which is like made it to me that that much better.
- 9:58Speaker 2: She got the original little icing on the cake. You know.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Now, you actually formed Glows in California back in nineteen
- 10:07Speaker 3: eighty eight. Mates, so a was some musical climate like
- 10:10Speaker 3: back then they gave birth to the band.
- 10:11Speaker 4: And then where did you fit in initially?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Uh, well, we didn't really fit in at all initially
- 10:17Speaker 1: because it was just a weird little band that from
- 10:20Speaker 1: a small town in California back then.
- 10:24Speaker 2: The bands, well we we are. I mean we always.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Looked west towards towards LA and Hollywood, which is only
- 10:32Speaker 1: about forty five to fifty miles away from where we live.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And that's that's always like those are always like the
- 10:38Speaker 1: Tastemakers man, like whatever's going on there, like from the
- 10:42Speaker 1: Sunset Strip like rock and roll, like hair hair scene
- 10:44Speaker 1: like in the eighties, to like eighties punk rock to
- 10:48Speaker 1: like nineties punk, you know, to I mean we kind
- 10:53Speaker 1: of got influenced by that whole thing, you know, I
- 10:56Speaker 1: mean by by everything that was going on in LA
- 10:58Speaker 1: at the time, you know, and throughout the years.
- 11:01Speaker 2: As we're growing up, and.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's when we were starting our band though,
- 11:10Speaker 1: there was like a trifectave band. It was like Fishbone,
- 11:14Speaker 1: James Addiction, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were the
- 11:17Speaker 1: bands that were like the bands that were coming up,
- 11:20Speaker 1: that were getting big, that were starting to become like legends.
- 11:24Speaker 2: That was around like nineteen ninety.
- 11:26Speaker 1: You know, we had been around for about two years,
- 11:28Speaker 1: and those bands were the bands that were just just
- 11:31Speaker 1: had hit hard, like between eighty five and like ninety five,
- 11:35Speaker 1: you know. So that was the three bands that kind
- 11:38Speaker 1: of influenced a lot of bands in LA. And then
- 11:42Speaker 1: at the same time you had like the early eighties
- 11:44Speaker 1: or like the like the mid eighties early eighties punk
- 11:47Speaker 1: rock scene, like you know, like No Effects and Bad Religion,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know, the Black Flag, the Descendants, you know, fear.
- 11:57Speaker 2: X.
- 11:58Speaker 1: You know, you had all that stuff, you know, and
- 12:01Speaker 1: then it kind of morphed into the bands like Penny
- 12:03Speaker 1: Wise and all like the nineties stuff, you know, like
- 12:06Speaker 1: the Epitaph record stuff. So we were influenced by a
- 12:09Speaker 1: lot of the stuff as we were becoming a band,
- 12:12Speaker 1: you know, we were influenced by a lot of those
- 12:15Speaker 1: different scenes, you know what I mean. There was there
- 12:16Speaker 1: was so much going on, I mean, I mean, there
- 12:19Speaker 1: was so much to absorb. But the musical I mean,
- 12:22Speaker 1: there was no real Scott punk or SKA bands like that.
- 12:25Speaker 1: There was, like the SKA band thing was still like
- 12:27Speaker 1: you're still kind of a rarity, you know what I mean.
- 12:30Speaker 1: There was like the Untouchables and Fishbone were the bands
- 12:34Speaker 1: like in the eighties, and like Oingo Boingo was kind
- 12:37Speaker 1: of like not really a SKA band, but sort of
- 12:39Speaker 1: parts kind of elements of it, you know, but there
- 12:43Speaker 1: was only in it. I mean there was like few,
- 12:45Speaker 1: like few, few and far between Scott you know. I
- 12:48Speaker 1: mean the Skeletons, We're a band from southern California, from here,
- 12:51Speaker 1: from our hometown. They were doing it then, no doubt,
- 12:55Speaker 1: was doing it like an Orange County and they were
- 12:57Speaker 1: kind of more of a two tone ska band. Then
- 13:01Speaker 1: they weren't like what they are now. Of course, they
- 13:03Speaker 1: didn't turn into like a funkier kind of pop band,
- 13:05Speaker 1: you know, they kind of doing more like trad two
- 13:08Speaker 1: tone ska. So there was some, but it wasn't the
- 13:11Speaker 1: same thing, you know, there wasn't really it was just
- 13:13Speaker 1: like the Boss Tones on the East coast, and like
- 13:16Speaker 1: Fishbone and op Ivy and like Voodoo and Skink and
- 13:19Speaker 1: Pickle on the West coast maybe and a few other
- 13:22Speaker 1: sporadic bands here and there, but there was only like
- 13:26Speaker 1: a handful, whereas now, like the climate at least for
- 13:29Speaker 1: what we do is I mean, it's everywhere. Now there's
- 13:33Speaker 1: just a Latino scott punk scene alone now, like in
- 13:36Speaker 1: LA that's like its own thing, you know what I
- 13:39Speaker 1: mean that there's there's at least like twenty five to
- 13:42Speaker 1: thirty bands that kind of do like Latin Latin ska
- 13:47Speaker 1: punk in some form, you know, whether it be more
- 13:50Speaker 1: Latin tinged or more like heavy hardcore tings. There's a
- 13:55Speaker 1: lot of everything now, I mean, so it's it's definitely changed,
- 13:58Speaker 1: you know. I mean back then, like the climate was
- 14:00Speaker 1: just kind of more like like those alternative like like
- 14:04Speaker 1: the alternative band thing thing that I was saying, like
- 14:06Speaker 1: more like Jan's Addiction and Red Hot and Fishballe And
- 14:09Speaker 1: then there was the nineties, like the late eighties nineties
- 14:12Speaker 1: punk scene was kind of starting to kind of morph
- 14:15Speaker 1: into its own things.
- 14:16Speaker 2: So yeah, it was it was different and like.
- 14:19Speaker 3: You you've been there, like you say, since before scar
- 14:22Speaker 3: punk was actually a thing too now, So can you
- 14:25Speaker 3: sort of put your finger on at what point people
- 14:28Speaker 3: actually started to get it or they started to really
- 14:30Speaker 3: get into skypunk?
- 14:31Speaker 4: Like what was the turning point?
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think it was.
- 14:35Speaker 1: It may have been like around when those bands like
- 14:38Speaker 1: in the nineties had hits that were cross genre, worldwide
- 14:44Speaker 1: type of hits, like when No Doubt had some stuff
- 14:48Speaker 1: that was sort of like it wasn't exactly sky but
- 14:50Speaker 1: like like you know, like the whole like the uh
- 14:52Speaker 1: the Tragic Kingdom album, the Sublime album, like the forty
- 14:57Speaker 1: ounce freedom to uh to the South titled album that's
- 15:01Speaker 1: filled with Scott type songs, you know what I mean
- 15:05Speaker 1: that I mean the Bostone's the impression that I get,
- 15:08Speaker 1: like what once you got songs that appear like on
- 15:11Speaker 1: a like on an airplane radio where you could listen
- 15:15Speaker 1: to it like in a general station like on the
- 15:17Speaker 1: airplane or something.
- 15:18Speaker 2: You know, you know, it's it's crossing, it crosses over,
- 15:23Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I think that that may have been it is when
- 15:26Speaker 1: Scott became more of like, oh, this is like the
- 15:28Speaker 1: genre now, this is the thing that people know whereas
- 15:32Speaker 1: you know, like back in like the UK, maybe like
- 15:35Speaker 1: in eighty one or eighty two, when like two tone
- 15:38Speaker 1: was a thing. You know, they may have had hit
- 15:40Speaker 1: hits like in the UK and maybe had like kind
- 15:43Speaker 1: of it might have crossed over in the here lit
- 15:45Speaker 1: like somewhat, but it didn't hit like the way it
- 15:48Speaker 1: did like in the nineties to me, like you know,
- 15:51Speaker 1: the Bostones that big hit, like No Doubt had a
- 15:54Speaker 1: big hit. I mean even now like they like you know,
- 15:56Speaker 1: like like bands like the Interrupters, they're all over the race,
- 15:59Speaker 1: you know, I mean, they're all over the radio now here,
- 16:02Speaker 1: you know, And that's that's k Rock, that's the big station.
- 16:06Speaker 1: You know, that's still like for radio. That's that's an
- 16:09Speaker 1: influential station, you know what I mean. So there's always
- 16:11Speaker 1: those ska bands. Now there are a ska song that
- 16:15Speaker 1: sneaks its way onto the radio because of the vibe
- 16:19Speaker 1: that sky like that has, you know what I mean?
- 16:23Speaker 3: Now, just only someone's coming along with the Sky Nations
- 16:25Speaker 3: first of all, or to see how Smith and they
- 16:27Speaker 3: don't know too much about video glow Skulls. What three
- 16:30Speaker 3: songs that you should they listen to you to prepare
- 16:32Speaker 3: them for what's coming.
- 16:34Speaker 1: For okay, they should listen to Shoot the Moon, uh
- 16:42Speaker 1: el Kukui and Charlie Brown those those three being off
- 16:48Speaker 1: our most popular record and kind of cover I think,
- 16:53Speaker 1: kind of cover the styles the best, like those three
- 16:56Speaker 1: songs cover like the they're all there similar songs, but
- 17:01Speaker 1: not really they kind of cover the styles.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Within Booty glol Skulls, you know what I mean. I
- 17:06Speaker 2: think though those would be a good example.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I think now before we like you, guy might have
- 17:10Speaker 3: started a new thing at Heavy called photo bombs. So
- 17:13Speaker 3: basically before I speak to you, I'll troll through your
- 17:15Speaker 3: social media fighters and I'll pick out a couple I
- 17:18Speaker 3: want to know a little bit more about. So I
- 17:20Speaker 3: got the first one here for you. What's going on there?
- 17:24Speaker 3: Is that God trying to get on stage or is
- 17:25Speaker 3: he getting aggressive or.
- 17:28Speaker 1: If I remember right, that's one of that is that
- 17:33Speaker 1: the guy from Love Equals Death. That might be Efrem's buddy.
- 17:37Speaker 1: That's the former singer that we just had, and I
- 17:39Speaker 1: believe and if I'm not mistaken, that might be the
- 17:42Speaker 1: guy from Love Equals Death who I think just passed
- 17:45Speaker 1: away if I'm not mistaken, like I mean like a
- 17:47Speaker 1: month ago, which is kind of sad, but I believe
- 17:51Speaker 1: that's the guy from Love Equals Death up in the
- 17:53Speaker 1: front just saying like, hey, I right here, but I'm
- 17:57Speaker 1: watching your show, and he's just like he's just kind
- 17:59Speaker 1: of an awesome that's awesome.
- 18:02Speaker 3: So on those lines, but like if you guys haven't
- 18:04Speaker 3: let anyone come up on stage and they send it
- 18:07Speaker 3: up in the title disaster.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but well not let up on stage, I guess.
- 18:13Speaker 1: But we had a bouncer rush the stage in Albuquerque,
- 18:17Speaker 1: New Mexico, uh and attacked my brother and then the
- 18:22Speaker 1: whole audience attacked the bouncer and that happened on the stage.
- 18:25Speaker 2: But that was an unwelcome guy on stage.
- 18:28Speaker 1: We've had, I guess, the funny things that that have
- 18:32Speaker 1: happened when we welcome somebody on stage. And it's been
- 18:35Speaker 1: as it's been as a it's been kind of a
- 18:37Speaker 1: disaster is when we have this mascot that comes out
- 18:40Speaker 1: that he were like he wears like a big like
- 18:43Speaker 1: a like a latex mask, you know what I mean.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And uh, it's it's the big monster head that that's
- 18:48Speaker 1: like a logo. It's it's sort of like iron Maid
- 18:51Speaker 1: and Eddie like that type of thing. And we have
- 18:53Speaker 1: this this character that will come out and we usually
- 18:57Speaker 1: have like a roadie or like a stage hand friend
- 18:59Speaker 1: that a just come out with a costume on right
- 19:01Speaker 1: like in the middle of the set. And we've made
- 19:03Speaker 1: the mistake of letting like friends in the middle of
- 19:06Speaker 1: the country, like on tour do it where they by
- 19:10Speaker 1: the tak but like like by the time they get
- 19:12Speaker 1: to the song, they're wasted and they can't do it,
- 19:16Speaker 1: or they come on stage totally drunk and like mess
- 19:20Speaker 1: it up kind of you know what I mean.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So we've had that happen a few times, uh, particularly
- 19:26Speaker 2: in Texas.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Go on in Texas, right, and I found is this
- 19:32Speaker 4: one like is that for real? Or is that fight?
- 19:34Speaker 2: I sho oh, no, that's that's for real.
- 19:38Speaker 1: But what's great about that is, uh, she appears to
- 19:41Speaker 1: be like diving off of the stage and it's it's
- 19:47Speaker 1: it's her dad doing the thing where like they tossed
- 19:49Speaker 1: the kid up in the air.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Catch them because you see the hands right there.
- 19:55Speaker 1: But I uh, we we just got it sent that
- 19:59Speaker 1: as a screen sh and we just started looked. It
- 20:02Speaker 1: was awesome and that what that's what was going on
- 20:04Speaker 1: during our show. He were just throwing this kid up
- 20:06Speaker 1: in the air like near the pit while we were playing.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And somebody tagged us in that, and uh, that was that.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Actually that was at punk in the Park in southern California.
- 20:16Speaker 1: We're about to do when in San Diego, which is
- 20:17Speaker 1: still southern California, of course, but this is the one
- 20:20Speaker 1: from about two years ago at Punk in the Park
- 20:23Speaker 1: in Orange County.
- 20:25Speaker 3: That doesn't have warm your heart when you see kids
- 20:27Speaker 3: that age and stuff like that at a gig.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It's just yeah, because that kid, that kid will grew
- 20:32Speaker 1: up going to shows like that, and who knows that
- 20:34Speaker 1: all that kid'll be going to shows.
- 20:36Speaker 2: When they're you know, some married woman or something. That's
- 20:38Speaker 2: how it is. You know.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Well, one little final thing before I let you go, mate,
- 20:44Speaker 3: I was sailing a bit of a.
- 20:45Speaker 4: College from bands that have been around for a while.
- 20:48Speaker 3: But when you guys decide to call it a day
- 20:51Speaker 3: one day, hopefully a long way in the future. But
- 20:54Speaker 3: what would you like the inscription to be on your
- 20:56Speaker 3: musical tombstone?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Oh?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Man, let's see here. That's a hard one. I'll probably
- 21:09Speaker 1: be what we Uh, it'd be like we we we,
- 21:16Speaker 1: we came, we saw.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Now play it loud, fucker.
- 21:21Speaker 3: That's absolutely perfect. Any Well, thanks very much for your time, bro,
- 21:23Speaker 3: I've been pleasure speaking Idiot Booty Glow Skulls in Australia
- 21:27Speaker 3: from November twenty seven with Hey Smith. I'll be coming
- 21:30Speaker 3: along in the Brisbane show, brother, So if I.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Come up and see come up and see hi, man,
- 21:35Speaker 2: come up and see what's up?
- 21:36Speaker 3: Man.
- 21:36Speaker 2: We're looking forward to it. We're super excited man.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And uh, it's an honor to get to come back
- 21:41Speaker 1: and what uh the band. It feels like the band
- 21:44Speaker 1: has been an extra on point lately, so we're we're
- 21:46Speaker 1: looking forward to a good show.
