- 5:48Speaker 1: not go through it alone, but they go through it
- 5:51Speaker 1: with you. God. You say that you will never leave
- 5:54Speaker 1: us nor forsake us. God, we thank you, we give
- 5:57Speaker 1: you praise a man. Our quote of the week is
- 6:04Speaker 1: acceptance doesn't mean resonation. It means understanding that something is
- 6:13Speaker 1: what it is and that there's got to be a
- 6:17Speaker 1: way through it.
- 6:19Speaker 4: And that is by Michael J. Fox.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So once again, welcome tonight's episode. I am so glad
- 6:31Speaker 1: that you're here. Today, we are going to be talking
- 6:34Speaker 1: about acceptance, the fifth and final stage of great chief.
- 6:42Speaker 1: When we hear the word acceptance, we might think that
- 6:45Speaker 1: it means that the pain is over, that we have gotten,
- 6:49Speaker 1: we have forgotten the person we lost, or that we
- 6:52Speaker 1: are finally okay. But acceptance does not mean any of
- 6:59Speaker 1: those things. Acceptance means that we are beginning to acknowledge
- 7:05Speaker 1: the reality what happened and learning how to move forward.
- 7:09Speaker 1: While carrying the memories, the love, and the lessons with it.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Grief changes us. Sometimes it changes the way we now
- 7:22Speaker 1: see life. It changes our relationship, It changes our priorities.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It may even change our understanding of ourselves. An acceptance
- 7:37Speaker 1: is not about becoming the person we were before the laws.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Acceptance is about discovering who we are becoming after the
- 7:49Speaker 1: What is acceptance? Acceptance is the stage where we begin saying,
- 7:56Speaker 1: this happened. I cannot change what happened, but I could
- 8:02Speaker 1: decide how I will live from this moment forward.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Ah.
- 8:08Speaker 1: That's a powerful revelation. Acceptance does not mean I'm no
- 8:14Speaker 1: longer sad. I don't miss them anymore. Everything is okay.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I have moved on and forgotten. Instead, acceptance says I
- 8:27Speaker 1: can miss them and still live.
- 8:31Speaker 4: I can hurt and still hope.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I can remember them and still make new memories. I
- 8:41Speaker 1: can grieve what I lost and still embrace what remains.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And That's what I've learned to do after my stroke.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Instead of becoming bitter, I chose to be better and
- 8:57Speaker 1: to accept the things that I cannot do anything about,
- 9:00Speaker 1: but embrace the things that I have control over. There
- 9:05Speaker 1: is room for both sorrow and joy. Acceptance does not
- 9:11Speaker 1: mean forgetting. One of the greatest fears people experienced join
- 9:17Speaker 1: grief is the fear that moving forward somehow dishonest the
- 9:24Speaker 1: person they loss. You may wonder, am I supposed to
- 9:29Speaker 1: stop crying? Am I supposed to stop talking about them?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Does laughing mean I don't miss them? The answer is no.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Healing does not require forgetting. The people we love become
- 9:49Speaker 1: part of our stories. Their influence may remain in the
- 9:54Speaker 1: way we think that the things we say, the traditions
- 9:58Speaker 1: we continue, and the memories we carry. Acceptance allows us
- 10:04Speaker 1: to say I will carry the love without allowing the
- 10:09Speaker 1: loss to completely define my future. The difference between moving
- 10:16Speaker 1: forward and moving on. I want to spend some time
- 10:21Speaker 1: here because this is important. People always tell grieving individuals
- 10:28Speaker 1: you need to move on, but sometimes that statement can
- 10:33Speaker 1: feel painful. We don't necessarily need to move on. We
- 10:40Speaker 1: learn to move forward. Moving on can sound like leaving
- 10:45Speaker 1: the person or experience behind. Moving forward means taking what
- 10:52Speaker 1: matters with us as we continue our journey. We may
- 10:59Speaker 1: carry memories, we may carry lessons, we may carry love,
- 11:06Speaker 1: we may carry unanswered questions, but you continue walking. Acceptance
- 11:15Speaker 1: isn't necessarily permanent. And that's what I had to learn
- 11:20Speaker 1: because I was offering perplexed, because why one minute I
- 11:25Speaker 1: could be at one stage, the next minute I could
- 11:29Speaker 1: be at acceptance and.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Then revert back.
- 11:34Speaker 1: You may have a wonderful day and suddenly find yourself
- 11:38Speaker 1: crying because you heard a song, smelled the familiar fragrance,
- 11:44Speaker 1: saw someone's birthday on the calendar, or visit a familiar place.
- 11:51Speaker 1: This does not mean you have failed. Grief is nol
- 11:55Speaker 1: is not always a straight line. You can experience acceptance
- 12:00Speaker 1: today and sadness tomorrow. You can laugh in the morning
- 12:06Speaker 1: and cry at night. You can feel strong one moment
- 12:11Speaker 1: and vulnerable the next. That is part of being human.
- 12:18Speaker 1: A difficult grief day does not erase the healing that
- 12:23Speaker 1: has already taken place. What happens when you get stuck
- 12:29Speaker 1: in the stage of grief. Sometimes people become stuck because
- 12:35Speaker 1: the seven the reality of the loss feels too painful.
- 12:40Speaker 1: They may constantly ask what if, if only, why did
- 12:47Speaker 1: this happen? What could I have done differently? Questions are natural.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It's natural to have questions, but eventually we may have
- 13:02Speaker 1: to recognize that some questions will not have answers. Acceptance
- 13:09Speaker 1: means releasing the expectation that we will understand everything. It
- 13:17Speaker 1: means saying I may never understand everything that happened, but
- 13:23Speaker 1: I can choose how I will live from here. That
- 13:28Speaker 1: is not weakent. That is courage, acceptance, and faith. For
- 13:34Speaker 1: those who have faith, acceptance can also become a spiritual journey.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Psalm thirty four and eighteen reminds us the Lord is
- 13:46Speaker 1: nigh unto them that are of a broken heart. God
- 13:51Speaker 1: does not promise that we will never experience brokenness, but
- 13:57Speaker 1: description reminds us that God is present in the broken places.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Isaiah forty three and two says, when thou passest through
- 14:09Speaker 1: the waters, I will be with you. Notice the language
- 14:14Speaker 1: when you pass through. It doesn't say you'll never go
- 14:19Speaker 1: through difficult waters.
- 14:22Speaker 4: It says you.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Will not go through it alone. And sometimes acceptance begins
- 14:29Speaker 1: when we stop asking why did this happen? Long enough
- 14:34Speaker 1: to ask God, how can I continue from here? The
- 14:42Speaker 1: practical tools for acceptance Here are several tools you can
- 14:48Speaker 1: use as you work through acceptance. Give yourself permission to feel.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Don't judge your emotions if you are sad, acknowledge the
- 15:01Speaker 1: sadness if you are angry, acknowledge the anger. If you
- 15:06Speaker 1: are grateful, allow yourself to be grateful. You don't have
- 15:11Speaker 1: to apologize for healing. Two create a memory ritual. Write
- 15:18Speaker 1: a letter to the person you lost, create a memory box,
- 15:24Speaker 1: light a candle, look through photographs, plant a tree, prepare
- 15:31Speaker 1: a favorite meal. Find a healthy way to honor the relationship.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Three create new routines. Grief can disrupt your daily life.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Begin rebuilding small routines. Get up at a consistent time,
- 15:50Speaker 1: take a walk, listen to music, spend time with supportive people.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Return to the activities that bring meaning into your life.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Small steps matter. Practice gratitude without denying your pain. You
- 16:11Speaker 1: can say I'm grateful for the years we had. I
- 16:17Speaker 1: am grateful for the memories. I am grateful for the
- 16:21Speaker 1: people who supported me. Gratitude doesn't erase grief. It helps
- 16:27Speaker 1: us to recognize that grief and gratitude can exist together.
- 16:34Speaker 6: Five.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Give yourself permission to dream again.
- 16:41Speaker 4: This is a big one.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Sometimes grief convinces us that our life ended when someone's
- 16:48Speaker 1: life ends, But your story is not over. There may
- 16:55Speaker 1: still be dreams inside of you. There's still purpose inside
- 17:02Speaker 1: of you. There are still people who need your voice.
- 17:09Speaker 1: There is still work for all of us to do.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Your loss is part of your story, but it does
- 17:18Speaker 1: not have to be the end of your story acceptance
- 17:23Speaker 1: and purpose. Sometimes our deepest pain becomes connected to our
- 17:31Speaker 1: greatest purpose. The experience may teach us compassion, It may
- 17:37Speaker 1: teach us patience. It may make us more sensitive to
- 17:42Speaker 1: the pain of others. It may give us a voice
- 17:46Speaker 1: to speak to people who feel alone. But I want
- 17:51Speaker 1: to be careful about saying that everything happens for a reason.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Sometimes we may never understand why something happened. Instead, we
- 18:03Speaker 1: can ask can I find purpose? And how I respond
- 18:08Speaker 1: to what happened? That is a different question. You cannot
- 18:15Speaker 1: control the laws, but eventually you may discover that you
- 18:20Speaker 1: can influence what you do with the life that remains.
- 18:27Speaker 1: What I carry and what I release. I want you
- 18:33Speaker 1: to take a piece of paper.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Drawer line down the middle.
- 18:38Speaker 1: On the left side, right what I carry, and write
- 18:44Speaker 1: down the things you want to carry forward.
- 18:48Speaker 4: It could be.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Memories, love, lessons, value, family, tradition, wisdom, and positive experiences.
- 19:00Speaker 1: On the right side, right what I release. Write down
- 19:06Speaker 1: what you're ready to begin releasing. It could be guilt,
- 19:12Speaker 1: unnecessary blame, the need to understand everything, the fear of
- 19:18Speaker 1: moving forward, the belief that healing means forgiving, the expectation
- 19:26Speaker 1: that grief must look a certain way. Then look at
- 19:30Speaker 1: both sides. Say I honor what I lost, I honor
- 19:37Speaker 1: what I love. I release what I cannot control, and
- 19:42Speaker 1: I give myself permission to live. Take a deep breath
- 19:49Speaker 1: and say it again. I give myself permission to live.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Say it one more time, for the Father, the Son, and.
- 20:00Speaker 4: The holy ghost. Say it a little louder this time.
- 20:04Speaker 1: For the one on the nap back. I give myself
- 20:11Speaker 1: to permission to live. If you are listening today and
- 20:18Speaker 1: you are still struggling, I want you.
- 20:20Speaker 4: To hear this.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You are not behind, You are not weak, You are
- 20:27Speaker 1: not grieving incorrectly. You don't have to heal according to
- 20:34Speaker 1: someone else's timetable. There may be days when you feel
- 20:38Speaker 1: like you're taking two steps forward and three steps backwards.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Keep going. There may be days when you don't feel
- 20:49Speaker 1: strong at all. Keep going. There may be moments when
- 20:55Speaker 1: you wonder whether joy will ever return. Keep going. Acceptance
- 21:04Speaker 1: is not a destination you arrive at once and never leave.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It can be a continuing process of acknowledging reality, honoring
- 21:15Speaker 1: your loss, and choosing life one day at a time.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for this episode on tonight.
- 21:29Speaker 4: God.
- 21:31Speaker 1: If there's anyone who's going through the stages of grief, God,
- 21:36Speaker 1: let them continue to move forward. Let them not get
- 21:42Speaker 1: stuck in any stage of grief. Let them see the
- 21:48Speaker 1: purpose that you have in their life. Most of all,
- 21:52Speaker 1: God allows them to dream again. Let them dream about
- 21:57Speaker 1: the things they thought that they could have have God,
- 22:01Speaker 1: all things are possible with you. God, let the healing
- 22:07Speaker 1: begin on tonight. And Dear Heavenly Father, if they don't
- 22:13Speaker 1: know You and the parting of their sins, they can
- 22:17Speaker 1: get to know you on tonight. God. All they have
- 22:21Speaker 1: to do is repent of their sins. And that's just
- 22:24Speaker 1: saying I'm sorry, God, and I want to do better.
- 22:28Speaker 4: God. Teach me how to be better.
- 22:30Speaker 1: God, teach me your ways God, that I might see
- 22:34Speaker 1: your promises manifested in my life. God wants to heal us.
- 22:39Speaker 1: He want to heal every place that's broken, but you
- 22:42Speaker 1: have to give it unto him tonight. So accept his
- 22:47Speaker 1: love on tonight. Accept his healing on tonight. And if
- 22:51Speaker 1: you've done that, you find yourself a Bible believe in
- 22:54Speaker 1: church where you can grow in the knowledge of Christ
- 23:00Speaker 1: and anything that He has promised you. He is not
- 23:03Speaker 1: man that he should lie for the medt son of man,
- 23:06Speaker 1: that he shall repent. But everything that God has promised
- 23:10Speaker 1: you in your life will come to fruition. And if
- 23:13Speaker 1: you know God and you're going through any type of grief,
- 23:19Speaker 1: hold on, don't throw in the towel, Never stop.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Moving, keep moving forward. God.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Remember the visionary of this platform, this side of the kingdom,
- 23:36Speaker 1: the territory that you have given her, like in the
- 23:39Speaker 1: prayer of Jabez, enlarge her territory so that she might
- 23:45Speaker 1: be a blessing and continue to be a blessing unto others.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Remember all the members of the crew podcasting their families.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Bless them, God bless them. Indeed, in Jesus's name we pray.
- 24:03Speaker 1: As we close tonight's episode, I want you to remember this.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Acceptance does not mean the absence of pain. Acceptance mean
- 24:14Speaker 1: learning that pain and hope can exist together. You can
- 24:20Speaker 1: miss someone and still smile. You can cry and still
- 24:25Speaker 1: have faith. You can remember yesterday and still embrace tomorrow.
- 24:33Speaker 1: You can honor the person you lost without abandoning the life.
- 24:37Speaker 1: You still have your grief is evident that you love,
- 24:43Speaker 1: and love does not disappear simply because someone's physical presence
- 24:50Speaker 1: is gone. So today take another step, not because you
- 24:56Speaker 1: have forgotten, not because it doesn't hurt, but because your
- 25:01Speaker 1: life still has value, purpose, meaning and possibility. Your story
- 25:08Speaker 1: is still being written. And perhaps assessonce is saying. It's
- 25:14Speaker 1: not saying I'm finally over it. Perhaps acceptance is saying
- 25:20Speaker 1: I will carry the love, honor, and the memories and
- 25:24Speaker 1: continue living. Thank you for joining me for today's conversation
- 25:30Speaker 1: on acceptance, the fifth stage of grief. Until next time,
- 25:34Speaker 1: remember you don't have to forget to heal. You don't
- 25:38Speaker 1: have to stop loving to move forward, and you don't
- 25:42Speaker 1: have to have all the answers to take the next step.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Keep breathing, keep believing, keep moving forward, and most importantly,
- 25:53Speaker 1: keep living.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you, thank you for being here on tonight.
- 26:02Speaker 6: A man.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Let tonight be your first step towards healing. And I
- 26:07Speaker 1: will see you in two weeks. I am on every
- 26:12Speaker 1: first and every third Wednesday of the month.
- 26:17Speaker 4: See you in two weeks. God bless it's a good God.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Can you do the mid now you're walking in it?
- 26:43Speaker 5: And Jesus she stays standing
