- 0:00Speaker 1: All Star Toyota presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:04Speaker 1: and Matt Flynn.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Plays get broken down and science gets denied. Come off
- 0:10Speaker 1: the Bench, Hour two of Off the Bench Live from
- 0:13Speaker 1: the Raising Kine Studio.
- 0:50Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in our number two O TV.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Here on this Wednesday morning, we talked a little bit
- 0:56Speaker 3: about Florida and Matthew's love for the Gators and how
- 0:59Speaker 3: they'll never be high because of that love for the Gators.
- 1:02Speaker 3: That job is open and now it joins Penn State
- 1:06Speaker 3: in Arkansas, and the UCLA and Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And the list goes on and on and on.
- 1:14Speaker 3: And because you have that list, that is forever growing,
- 1:17Speaker 3: it's going to be every single weekend.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Now we're going to have one firing.
- 1:20Speaker 3: It feels like, and it almost feels like you can
- 1:22Speaker 3: say that in absolutes, because you want to get ahead
- 1:26Speaker 3: of it. You want to get your job out in
- 1:30Speaker 3: front of whoever the top candidates are going to be.
- 1:33Speaker 3: And so I know Florida State said that they're behind
- 1:36Speaker 3: Mike Norvel. That's because they've got fifty three million dollars
- 1:39Speaker 3: while they have to be behind Mike Norvel with that
- 1:41Speaker 3: buy out there, even though he it's been almost five.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Hundred days, I believe, since he's won an ACC game.
- 1:46Speaker 3: So that's a long time ago, and that's certainly not
- 1:49Speaker 3: the standard at Florida State.
- 1:51Speaker 2: They didn't win one a year ago. They haven't won
- 1:53Speaker 2: one yet this season. Well say that again.
- 1:55Speaker 3: It's been almost five hundred days since Florida State won
- 1:58Speaker 3: a ACC game.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's football matchup. Yeah, and they just lost to Stanford.
- 2:07Speaker 2: That's alarming.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yes, huh. How they beat Alabama? Why did I think
- 2:13Speaker 3: they were decent?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Last year?
- 2:15Speaker 3: They won two games I didn't watch. Yeah, well, you
- 2:17Speaker 3: didn't have a sports show yet. That's true two years ago,
- 2:21Speaker 3: not last year, but the year before. They we run
- 2:22Speaker 3: the feed in the regular season. That's what you're think.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I love.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Yeah, your friend tells me that as of October twenty
- 2:29Speaker 4: second today, it has been six hundred and ninety days
- 2:33Speaker 4: since Florida State won an ACC football game.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I thought it was like five hundred. Okay, whatever the number.
- 2:38Speaker 2: That's what chat GBT says.
- 2:40Speaker 4: So I don't know if we can try.
- 2:41Speaker 2: So it's factual, no doubt. Go ahead and put that
- 2:43Speaker 2: in stone. Yeah, that do it?
- 2:46Speaker 3: But they've they've said local reassess at the end of
- 2:48Speaker 3: the year, and maybe it does come open, but I
- 2:50Speaker 3: don't think so, because you would have already done it,
- 2:52Speaker 3: or maybe you're trying to raise the money right now.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I don't really know. But it's not going to be
- 2:56Speaker 3: the only jobs. And so who do we think is
- 3:00Speaker 3: going to hire the right coach? Do we think it's
- 3:04Speaker 3: going to be Penn State. Do we think it's gonna
- 3:06Speaker 3: be Virginia Tech? Is it going to be the Florida Gators?
- 3:09Speaker 3: Are you worried the Florida Gators are going to hire
- 3:13Speaker 3: someone that's is going to just completely come in there
- 3:17Speaker 3: and turn Florida into what it used to be. So,
- 3:20Speaker 3: I mean, you've had Will Muscham and mcilwayne, You've had
- 3:22Speaker 3: Dan mull and Dan Mullen by far the most successful
- 3:25Speaker 3: of recent memory. Then you have Billy Napier, who's twenty
- 3:27Speaker 3: two and twenty three overall. They're headed for their third
- 3:31Speaker 3: losing season in the last four seasons.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Think about that for Florida. Think about it.
- 3:35Speaker 3: If I'd have told you that in two thousand and seven,
- 3:37Speaker 3: if I would have said the team that we're about
- 3:39Speaker 3: to play tonight at one point here down the road
- 3:42Speaker 3: is going to have losing seasons in three of the
- 3:45Speaker 3: four and the one they didn't have a losing season,
- 3:48Speaker 3: they had to go on a five game winning streak
- 3:50Speaker 3: to do so.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Yeah, pull it out of their rear. Yes, I guess this.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Here's where I'm a little different than probably most people.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Well is long and distinguished. Thank you.
- 4:07Speaker 5: I don't think I've ever been bashta Bay saying I
- 4:09Speaker 5: hate Florida. They're my least favorite team. They're my true
- 4:14Speaker 5: rival for LSU. Now, everybody's different, and I respect that
- 4:18Speaker 5: because at certain times the rivalry is different. Before I
- 4:25Speaker 5: got LSU, it was more Auburn Florida during my time afterwards,
- 4:30Speaker 5: rightfully Alabama. So depending on when you were at LSU,
- 4:35Speaker 5: is who you kind of hate the most, right so,
- 4:37Speaker 5: Florida is mine. I don't wish that Florida's program burns
- 4:42Speaker 5: to the ground. I want Florida to be good. I
- 4:46Speaker 5: don't like That's where I'm different from everybody. I think
- 4:50Speaker 5: college football is amazing, and when the good teams are good,
- 4:54Speaker 5: college football is better. I want LSU to be able
- 4:57Speaker 5: to beat them when Florida is good.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I don't want them to be irrelevant.
- 5:04Speaker 5: How sad is it that Florida State has gone into
- 5:08Speaker 5: this black hole of irrelevancy. Like college football is better
- 5:13Speaker 5: with Florida stay being good. College football is better with
- 5:16Speaker 5: Miami being good. So I don't wish that Florida is
- 5:20Speaker 5: a is a bad program. I love beating good people.
- 5:24Speaker 5: I love beating your rival, the team you hate the most.
- 5:28Speaker 5: When they are riding high on their horse, thinking they
- 5:31Speaker 5: are all that, thinking they're the best, and you.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Make them cry. I like that. That's what I like.
- 5:40Speaker 5: I don't want them to I don't want them to
- 5:41Speaker 5: be a doormat. Yeah, I want them to hire a
- 5:44Speaker 5: good coach, and I want to beat them when they're
- 5:49Speaker 5: at their best. That's where I'm different, all right.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So now it's different.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Like before, there's places that if it opened up asking questions,
- 6:00Speaker 3: you're going like, hey, guys, get everything packed up, we're
- 6:03Speaker 3: going to Gainesville, We're going to state College, like whatever.
- 6:09Speaker 3: But now like seeing teams like a Vanderbilt, like a Missouri,
- 6:14Speaker 3: like a Georgia Tech they call Indiana, it's like you
- 6:17Speaker 3: can do it in multiple places now. So with Lane
- 6:21Speaker 3: Kiffin being the Vegas favorite to take the Florida job,
- 6:26Speaker 3: I would say, why you're in Oxford. They love you there,
- 6:32Speaker 3: all right, You don't have quite the expectation that they
- 6:36Speaker 3: have at Florida, right, wrong, are indifferent?
- 6:38Speaker 2: You just don't.
- 6:40Speaker 3: You've got it rolling already. You've built a culture. You
- 6:44Speaker 3: literally can get whatever you want from administration because they
- 6:47Speaker 3: love you and the equity that you've built up because
- 6:49Speaker 3: you're doing things they've never done before. With Florida having
- 6:53Speaker 3: losing seasons in three of the last four years, why
- 6:57Speaker 3: would I go there? And he's making a ton of money.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It's not like they're going to give him so much
- 7:02Speaker 3: money that he can't deny it at Florida, right, So
- 7:05Speaker 3: like for people to think, oh, well, the old mis coach,
- 7:07Speaker 3: you're going to go to Florida. Yeah, ten years ago,
- 7:09Speaker 3: five years ago maybe, yep, not now yep.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I know.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Coaching, that's an ego thing, like coaches. All coaches have egos.
- 7:17Speaker 5: All players do too. All players have vegos. And I'm
- 7:19Speaker 5: not and I'm not using that in saying an ego
- 7:20Speaker 5: is a bad thing. Right, It can be a bad thing.
- 7:22Speaker 5: You got to have one a little bit, you got
- 7:24Speaker 5: to have one. It can be a bad thing. But
- 7:26Speaker 5: all coaches have egos to the point where like, well,
- 7:28Speaker 5: I can fix this. I can fix that guy. I could.
- 7:31Speaker 5: He's got the talent. I know he hadn't been good.
- 7:33Speaker 5: I can fix him.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I got this.
- 7:34Speaker 5: I can I can be different. And there are coaches
- 7:37Speaker 5: that can do that. But why would Lane Kiffin take
- 7:41Speaker 5: the job at Florida or for at LSU for that matter,
- 7:45Speaker 5: because they got like, because that's blowing up my Twitter.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Feed, like Lane yeah, oh really right, my god, it's
- 7:51Speaker 2: like it's it's annoyed and twitter feed one in these
- 7:55Speaker 2: streets right now. I'm in a deep right now for
- 8:00Speaker 2: a week.
- 8:01Speaker 5: But why would he go to Florida when that playbook's
- 8:04Speaker 5: already been played out with another coach from Mississippi? Yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 5: and n on we said, like, dam only could have
- 8:11Speaker 5: had a sat there a Mississippi State gone seven and five,
- 8:16Speaker 5: eight and four for the next twenty years, had a statue, Yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 5: made five.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Six seven million a year.
- 8:23Speaker 5: But you go to a team that is struggling, has
- 8:27Speaker 5: high expectations and he gets fired before he should have. Yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 5: and they just hadn't seen the success. So why would
- 8:33Speaker 5: Lane Kiffin make that move? And he like, I keep
- 8:38Speaker 5: going back to the comment that I heard a couple
- 8:39Speaker 5: of weeks ago. I can't remember if it was on
- 8:41Speaker 5: game day or when it was. I think I think
- 8:44Speaker 5: a couple of years ago, Lane was in probably a
- 8:45Speaker 5: different place. I think he was looking for another spot. Yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 5: but he made a comment a couple of weeks ago
- 8:51Speaker 5: that he said.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I needed old Miss more than old Miss needed me. Right.
- 8:57Speaker 2: That tells me like you're pretty happy with where you're at.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So I don't see. I know he's the odds on favorite.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Maybe just because people like to think it's a good fit. Yeah,
- 9:07Speaker 5: I don't see it happening.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I don't either, And I don't know like Jeff Fish
- 9:13Speaker 3: makes sense because he, you know, went to school there
- 9:19Speaker 3: and coach there and the whole deal. Like would Florida
- 9:24Speaker 3: fans be happy with the Washington coach coming to take
- 9:27Speaker 3: over for Billy Napier? Like fans have to I think
- 9:30Speaker 3: change their expectation too. I'm trying to see if I
- 9:34Speaker 3: can pull up the odds.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Do you have to work it out for him? Right?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:37Speaker 3: I can pull him up in front of you pull
- 9:38Speaker 3: them up. Well, like that guy just kind of wins
- 9:42Speaker 3: wherever he goes.
- 9:44Speaker 5: Hey, what was my one of my bold predictions I
- 9:47Speaker 5: believe was John Gruden is going to be a coach
- 9:49Speaker 5: in the SEC before the second round of the playoffs?
- 9:56Speaker 2: Was it? M H wasn't that? I don't know? Yeah
- 9:58Speaker 2: it was?
- 9:59Speaker 3: Ye. So just like so, the same conversation goes to
- 10:03Speaker 3: Penn State, like Kurt Signetti, who before he signed his
- 10:08Speaker 3: eleven point three per year deal, why I made the
- 10:13Speaker 3: same playoff at Penn State made last year.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'm in a better direction right now.
- 10:18Speaker 3: They literally would think about building a statue of me
- 10:21Speaker 3: as we speak.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yep.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And you just fired James Franklin, who made the playoff
- 10:26Speaker 3: a year ago, with expectations that are national championship or
- 10:32Speaker 3: bust when they haven't won one since nineteen eighty six.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You and I were in diapers the last time they
- 10:39Speaker 3: won a national championship. But that's the expectation. Why would
- 10:43Speaker 3: I leave Indiana in today's college football, where Indiana can
- 10:47Speaker 3: pay their coach eleven plus million dollars per season and
- 10:51Speaker 3: he can get a roster that plays out as similar
- 10:55Speaker 3: to Penn States than ever before, and again if he
- 10:59Speaker 3: wins games for the rest of that contract a year,
- 11:03Speaker 3: Indian football is going to be excited about it.
- 11:07Speaker 2: The math has changed.
- 11:09Speaker 3: The math has completely changed with where we're at, right, Yeah,
- 11:13Speaker 3: some of the blue bloods might not have the leverage
- 11:18Speaker 3: that they once had because just because of the decal
- 11:21Speaker 3: on the side of the helmet.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no doubt.
- 11:25Speaker 3: All right, So there's the Vegas odds to be the
- 11:28Speaker 3: next head coach at Florida. Okay, we just talked about
- 11:31Speaker 3: Lane Kevin. Who's got the best odds? Plus two hundred.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Jeff Brom second, plus three hundred. Jeff Brom. Where'd he
- 11:36Speaker 3: played college football? Matthew, Uh, yes, And you don't have
- 11:41Speaker 3: to say it as a question. You should know that
- 11:43Speaker 3: you played with his brother, Brian Brom, who's also on
- 11:45Speaker 3: their staff. Yes, Jeff Brom played quarterback at Louisville. Thank you,
- 11:50Speaker 3: James Franklin. We'll come back to that. Eli Drinkwitz. Eli
- 11:54Speaker 3: has won double digit games back to back years in
- 11:57Speaker 3: Missouri's on his way to doing it for a third time.
- 11:59Speaker 3: And oh yeah, they have state laws in Missouri that
- 12:01Speaker 3: help out his football program. They are the only major
- 12:05Speaker 3: football program in the entire state of Missouri. Okay, Marcus Freeman,
- 12:09Speaker 3: I think he's leaving Notre Dame to go to Florida.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Don't think so. Should Urban Myers on this list? Do
- 12:14Speaker 3: you want Urban Meyer to be your head coach? After
- 12:18Speaker 3: what you saw there in Jacksonville? All right, so James
- 12:21Speaker 3: Franklin maybe maybe James Franklin. Maybe that's it. He's plus
- 12:24Speaker 3: six hundred there, Jeff Fish plus one thousand. He's got
- 12:28Speaker 3: a lot of ties to Gainesville into Florida. Okay, that
- 12:31Speaker 3: would makes a lot of sense. And maybe it's Alex
- 12:34Speaker 3: Golish at South Florida. We go down to Brent Key,
- 12:38Speaker 3: Hey Matt. Where Brent Key played college football?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Just based on the tone of the question. Georgia Tech.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Georgia Tech, Hey Matt. Kenny Dillingham's next on this list.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Where did Kenny Dillingham graduate college from? I'm Arizona State,
- 12:50Speaker 3: Arizona State.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I'm good at this.
- 12:53Speaker 3: So all these people that you think would leave, like
- 12:57Speaker 3: Jeff brom play quarterback at Louisville, was the star at Louisville.
- 13:00Speaker 3: He's got them beating the number two team in the
- 13:02Speaker 3: country on the road. Brent Kee played football at Georgia Tech,
- 13:06Speaker 3: played offensive line. He's got his team the number seven
- 13:08Speaker 3: team in the country. Kenny Dillingham from the area went
- 13:12Speaker 3: to Arizona State, he had them in the College Football
- 13:15Speaker 3: Playoff a year ago.
- 13:17Speaker 2: It's not like it used to be where you're like.
- 13:19Speaker 3: We're Florida, or we're Penn State or if you know,
- 13:22Speaker 3: when LSU, like if it was open, it's not like
- 13:27Speaker 3: it used to be.
- 13:27Speaker 2: It's not like it once was. Now. I think LSU
- 13:29Speaker 2: is much better than those jobs.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I think LSU obviously is like a top five, so
- 13:33Speaker 3: maybe they don't fall as much into this category. But
- 13:37Speaker 3: Penn State and Florida, you know, they have the highest
- 13:41Speaker 3: standard that you can have. But with all of these
- 13:43Speaker 3: coaches like now in today's college football, I can make
- 13:47Speaker 3: a case for them staying where they're at current And
- 13:50Speaker 3: sure maybe James Franklin takes it, Sure maybe does.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Is there anybody in the world better at their job?
- 14:00Speaker 5: The Jimmy Sexton, no, say Jimi for those of you
- 14:04Speaker 5: all wondering if, if if anybody doesn't know, Jimmy Sexton
- 14:07Speaker 5: is the agent, super agent, the agent for you know,
- 14:11Speaker 5: most most high profile college coaches, who controls, absolutely controls
- 14:17Speaker 5: the narrative of rumors of Hey, this guy wants to
- 14:21Speaker 5: go here, this guy's looking at this job, this team's
- 14:24Speaker 5: looking at that job, controls the narrative to of course
- 14:28Speaker 5: grow the contract and the offering, and has been the
- 14:32Speaker 5: spearhead and the catalyst to all these like absolutely insane
- 14:35Speaker 5: buyouts from all these colleges with these head coaches. And
- 14:39Speaker 5: he's done it all by like almost creating a monopoly
- 14:43Speaker 5: of clients. Like if you have all the coaches in
- 14:46Speaker 5: the SEC, then you can create any roomor you want
- 14:52Speaker 5: any narrative you want. So, I mean, I don't think
- 14:55Speaker 5: there's ever been a man alive that's better at his job.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yep, College game Day?
- 15:00Speaker 3: Why was he in the background, because he's got both
- 15:03Speaker 3: those coaches SEC spring meetings. There's somebody that hosts a
- 15:10Speaker 3: little mixer with all the SEC coaches and administration.
- 15:14Speaker 2: It's Jimmy down there at the lobby bar.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Because he's got half the league and probably more than half,
- 15:20Speaker 3: probably eighty percent of the league. And so if you
- 15:24Speaker 3: got a job, it's open. And you think that we're this,
- 15:27Speaker 3: we're that school, we're gonna be able to go get
- 15:29Speaker 3: a B or C.
- 15:31Speaker 2: We get our pick.
- 15:31Speaker 5: This is just like a quick like little Google search
- 15:34Speaker 5: of like SEC coaches, and I'm sure it's more Nick
- 15:36Speaker 5: Saban Kirby smart, Steve Sarcasia, Mike, Mike norval O, Lane Kiffin.
- 15:40Speaker 2: He's got has he got drink? I think he's got
- 15:42Speaker 2: a drink, probably drink with my quick lift.
- 15:46Speaker 3: So if you're looking for a head coach and you
- 15:50Speaker 3: just assume I would.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Be careful that I would tread lightly.
- 15:55Speaker 3: A lot of people talking about coach oh off her
- 15:56Speaker 3: Coacho wants see Oregon state job. I don't know how.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I don't know that that's factual. I have heard that, and
- 16:04Speaker 3: I could see that. I could see that. I could
- 16:06Speaker 3: see coach O going to Corvallis, small town, be a
- 16:10Speaker 3: good fip, galizing the.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Fan base a little bit.
- 16:14Speaker 3: They got some buy in, they got a great campus,
- 16:16Speaker 3: they got a buy in. So I don't know, I'll
- 16:18Speaker 3: see if that happens. I know we want to coach again.
- 16:20Speaker 3: That'd be a lot of fun. All right, We'll take
- 16:22Speaker 3: a break. More OTB when we come back here live
- 16:25Speaker 3: from the Raisin Kine Studio.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Off the Bench.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Gcopnet dot com is the website for Gulf Coast office
- 16:32Speaker 3: products and multiple locations throughout Louisiana. But look, when you
- 16:37Speaker 3: need that document, you don't need it tomorrow. You don't
- 16:40Speaker 3: need it in two days. You don't need it in
- 16:42Speaker 3: three You need it right now. Like if you work
- 16:45Speaker 3: at a law firm or if you work at a hospital,
- 16:47Speaker 3: a university engineering firm, you know how important it is
- 16:50Speaker 3: to have that information right then, right there, and you're
- 16:53Speaker 3: going to have that with gcop So when you call
- 16:57Speaker 3: them and you have any kind of issue or any
- 16:59Speaker 3: kind of question, like you don't talk to an answering service,
- 17:01Speaker 3: you don't talk to a machine. You talk to a
- 17:03Speaker 3: human being who is going to help you right then
- 17:05Speaker 3: and there. You should trust them. The Tigers trust them,
- 17:08Speaker 3: the Raging Cajuns, the Pelicans as saints.
- 17:10Speaker 2: They've got Louisiana covered. Gcop net dot Com.
- 17:13Speaker 5: It's right Gold Coast Office Products in the world of
- 17:15Speaker 5: digital scans and this digital world we live in, the
- 17:19Speaker 5: paper trail in any office is still the bloodline of office.
- 17:22Speaker 5: When you deal with that, you have to deal with
- 17:24Speaker 5: Louisiana's leading coffee or and printer source, which is Golf
- 17:27Speaker 5: Coast Office Products gcop net dot Com.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Locked in l s U Football twenty four to seven.
- 18:03Speaker 1: You're listening to off the bench.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Dog didn't have the headphones, I didn't need them. Got
- 18:18Speaker 2: over here, I wonder.
- 18:19Speaker 6: I knew what it was.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Okay, okay, okay.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Just like her same thing basically three concert get a
- 18:27Speaker 5: hide up, always be.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Uh. Doctor Stephen Etheridge's back again with us on his
- 18:35Speaker 3: Wednesday spot Doc How We Doing?
- 18:37Speaker 2: How We Living?
- 18:38Speaker 6: Could be better?
- 18:39Speaker 5: But yeah, were making it. It's Wednesday, putin, put it
- 18:43Speaker 5: behind us.
- 18:44Speaker 2: We're looking forward. I know. I a tough tough weekend
- 18:47Speaker 2: for Doc.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Obviously, you know, the l Shoe game didn't go like
- 18:50Speaker 3: we wanted to Florida State lose this to Stanford.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I said that, right, they lost to Stanford. Haven't won
- 18:54Speaker 2: an a C C game since Movie Dick was a Minno.
- 18:56Speaker 2: It's rough.
- 18:59Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, from where we started at the beginning the year,
- 19:01Speaker 6: I was feeling really good.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Oh, like, there needs to be like an immediate case
- 19:05Speaker 3: study of how that happened.
- 19:07Speaker 2: We got to dive into it.
- 19:08Speaker 3: You beat a team that looks like they might be
- 19:10Speaker 3: the best team in the country, beat them.
- 19:14Speaker 6: It wasn't like some weird flat game.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I know, like, yeah, well, you had six months to prepare.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I get that, but my goodness, I can't explain it. Hey,
- 19:23Speaker 3: You'll always have Bama, That's it. You will always have Bama.
- 19:29Speaker 3: All right, we got a lot to get to with Doc.
- 19:32Speaker 3: There we were talking about wearing boots, and I feel
- 19:38Speaker 3: like it's something that is certainly more prevalent than the
- 19:40Speaker 3: more we're Like when we were playing, if you saw
- 19:42Speaker 3: a boot come.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Out, you're like, oh, boys, you're done.
- 19:45Speaker 3: You're done for the year, Like you're out, like you
- 19:46Speaker 3: see bot. But like now I'm noticing that. It's like,
- 19:49Speaker 3: even if you plan on playing the next week, it's like, okay,
- 19:51Speaker 3: let's get this in a boot. Let's make sure that
- 19:53Speaker 3: we protected traveling home whatever, Like what are the reasons
- 19:56Speaker 3: maybe behind why that changed.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Yeah, it's's funny. It's one of those things you know,
- 20:00Speaker 6: we'll hear it and a lot of times from the
- 20:01Speaker 6: media and stuff. Oh we saw the guy leaving the
- 20:03Speaker 6: facility in boot and everybody's in a panic and understandable,
- 20:06Speaker 6: especially if it's one of your dudes. But we've kind
- 20:10Speaker 6: of learned that, Look, if you want to get something
- 20:11Speaker 6: better quickly, let's do the full court press on it.
- 20:14Speaker 6: Let's not just kind of say, look, we'll kind of
- 20:15Speaker 6: play it slow. So if you got an ankle sprain,
- 20:18Speaker 6: regardless high ankle, low ankle, severe, mild, moderate, one thing
- 20:21Speaker 6: we've kind of seen is let's go in and really
- 20:23Speaker 6: be aggressive on the front end. Let's get you immobilized,
- 20:25Speaker 6: let's put you in the boot. Let's not risk a
- 20:27Speaker 6: any further injury because maybe you have a mild sprain.
- 20:29Speaker 6: You're walking out of a facility, maybe not even in practice,
- 20:31Speaker 6: and you step off that curve and you roll it
- 20:32Speaker 6: because it's a little bit weak, a little bit irritated, whatever,
- 20:35Speaker 6: So you're kind of avoiding that. But then also just
- 20:37Speaker 6: just to give it some some protection, just you know,
- 20:40Speaker 6: to go ahead and start that healing process. The sooner
- 20:42Speaker 6: the better. So yeah, a lot of times it's not
- 20:44Speaker 6: an injury where we expect that the patient will be
- 20:47Speaker 6: out the following weekend. A lot of times it's just
- 20:49Speaker 6: to hey, let's get out in front of this thing.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Let's be super protective. So so it is something we
- 20:53Speaker 6: do very commonly now. And you know, we're fortunate, you know,
- 20:57Speaker 6: these days in age with resources. I mean, we've got
- 20:59Speaker 6: a closet full of boots, so we might as well
- 21:01Speaker 6: throw you in one. Yeah, and we're not unique in that.
- 21:08Speaker 6: I mean, obviously we got great resources, but a lot
- 21:09Speaker 6: of people do. But that's why you'll see that a
- 21:11Speaker 6: lot more, I think now, just just kind of a
- 21:13Speaker 6: change the mindset.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Well, because like I said, like when we saw one
- 21:16Speaker 3: when we were playing, even like at the next levels,
- 21:18Speaker 3: like oh man, that guys, like the only boots that
- 21:20Speaker 3: we wanted to see was when you drink beer out
- 21:21Speaker 3: of you right right, you're right.
- 21:23Speaker 2: And I remember I wore a boot when I was
- 21:24Speaker 2: in high school.
- 21:25Speaker 5: I had a little fracture on the top of my foot,
- 21:27Speaker 5: and a lot of it was because, of course, like
- 21:29Speaker 5: I didn't want to be cruching around and like you can,
- 21:32Speaker 5: you can kind of rock on the boot, but a
- 21:34Speaker 5: lot of it was just because he didn't want somebody
- 21:36Speaker 5: to step on your foot. Like it was because it's
- 21:39Speaker 5: got a little hardshell on the outside, so it like
- 21:40Speaker 5: kind of protects you from just like getting hit randomly.
- 21:43Speaker 5: So I understand like the over precaution, but like explaining
- 21:46Speaker 5: the difference between like an injury of all right, you're good,
- 21:49Speaker 5: here's a boot. It's going to help you kind of
- 21:51Speaker 5: like rock from the front to that. I remember that
- 21:53Speaker 5: the heel rocked from the front because it took all
- 21:55Speaker 5: the pressure off your foot. Like what the severity of
- 21:59Speaker 5: injury between like, hey, get this boot on for precautionary
- 22:02Speaker 5: or like we got to crutch around at this point
- 22:03Speaker 5: because you know, I don't feel like you see a
- 22:05Speaker 5: ton of guys unless it's like post surgery that are
- 22:07Speaker 5: actually using the traditional crush.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I think. I think most of the times there's
- 22:12Speaker 6: always gonna be an exception to this. But I mean,
- 22:14Speaker 6: you know there you see you see the crutches, that's
- 22:17Speaker 6: probably gonna be a little more significant. You know, there's
- 22:19Speaker 6: gonna be those exceptions. But most of the times that's
- 22:21Speaker 6: the case because that's gonna be something where there's a
- 22:23Speaker 6: broken bone, there's something where we don't want to risk
- 22:26Speaker 6: any injury. I mean it's not always a broken bone,
- 22:28Speaker 6: but something that's unstable. We don't even want to take
- 22:30Speaker 6: the chance of you putting weight on it. Whereas the boot,
- 22:33Speaker 6: like you said, it might just be something where we're
- 22:35Speaker 6: trying to offload it. You know, I tell my patients
- 22:37Speaker 6: a lot in the clinic, like, hey, we're gonna put
- 22:38Speaker 6: you in a sling, We're gonna put you in a boot,
- 22:40Speaker 6: We're gonna have you wear this thing to the point.
- 22:42Speaker 6: You made that not just so that it protects you,
- 22:44Speaker 6: but it also people see it because sometimes you know,
- 22:46Speaker 6: somebody step on your foot, but they see you walk
- 22:47Speaker 6: up the boot, they're gonna give you kind of a
- 22:48Speaker 6: wide birth. So so a lot of those things are true.
- 22:51Speaker 6: So so now that doesn't mean that every time in
- 22:54Speaker 6: the boot it might not be serious.
- 22:55Speaker 2: There are going to be those.
- 22:56Speaker 6: Exceptions, but as a general rule, it can go both ways.
- 22:59Speaker 6: With the boot, crutches probably more significant. So don't freak
- 23:02Speaker 6: out if you see a guy with a bib. But
- 23:04Speaker 6: if you're lucky you get one of those. They didn't
- 23:06Speaker 6: have these and we're playing the one legged bikes. Scooters,
- 23:09Speaker 6: scooter those are a lot of fun.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Those are those look fun.
- 23:12Speaker 3: If you're in one of those, you're probably in a spot,
- 23:15Speaker 3: a bad spot.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Those aren't just to take some load off.
- 23:18Speaker 3: There also something in the news and you mentioned it
- 23:23Speaker 3: this morning's it's a great point out by you because
- 23:26Speaker 3: we talked about it in the off season. But A
- 23:28Speaker 3: and them gotta find fifty thousand dollars for faking injuries,
- 23:32Speaker 3: and it's been a big point of emphasis to not
- 23:34Speaker 3: do it, to slow down teams.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Arkansas was trying to go fast.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Fifty grand for faking injuries, and so I mean, did
- 23:41Speaker 3: the doctors just not sell it enough.
- 23:43Speaker 2: They went out there, you.
- 23:44Speaker 6: Got to ask you know, I think I think we
- 23:45Speaker 6: got we got to work on our acting skills. It
- 23:47Speaker 6: was something that was brought to our attention, you know,
- 23:49Speaker 6: as I believe it was a summer before last when
- 23:51Speaker 6: they kind of made a conscious effort of saying, hey, listen, guys,
- 23:53Speaker 6: y'all need to be able to document. You know, there
- 23:55Speaker 6: is the hip the stuff. So we can't necessily come
- 23:57Speaker 6: out and say exactly what's going on, but we have
- 23:59Speaker 6: to be able to like, hey, there is an injury
- 24:01Speaker 6: there there. The the SEC and the NCAA both cracked
- 24:03Speaker 6: down a little bit on you know, the injury reports
- 24:05Speaker 6: doing all these things. And and look, we I think
- 24:07Speaker 6: we've talked about it in past shows. We've all been
- 24:09Speaker 6: out there. We know the guys that will sometimes get
- 24:11Speaker 6: that injury though done. Yeah, I mean it's it's you. Yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 6: But I think I think at the very least, you
- 24:18Speaker 6: gotta be more slick. I think, you know, from what
- 24:20Speaker 6: I saw, they apparently somebody signals stumped to the guy
- 24:22Speaker 6: on the sideline of what I read at least, and
- 24:24Speaker 6: and so yeah, A and M you know, uh, I
- 24:26Speaker 6: can't say I hate it for them, but uh, yeah,
- 24:29Speaker 6: it's it's gonna be something probably with the last time
- 24:31Speaker 6: we see that happen.
- 24:31Speaker 5: I think this begs the question is HIPPA enforceable if
- 24:36Speaker 5: it's a fake injury?
- 24:38Speaker 6: You know that is that is kind of a good question,
- 24:40Speaker 6: think about it.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Yeah, deep thoughts, deep thoughts. What are you done for
- 24:44Speaker 2: the day? I'm done? I'm spent.
- 24:47Speaker 5: So what's so do you have like a story from
- 24:50Speaker 5: you don't have to obviously no names, but like you
- 24:52Speaker 5: have a story from when you've gone on the field
- 24:55Speaker 5: and it was like clear as day a fake injury,
- 24:58Speaker 5: and like what is said between the player and the
- 25:02Speaker 5: training staff, the doctor staff, and then do you do
- 25:04Speaker 5: you just like grab an egg and start like moving
- 25:06Speaker 5: it around or what?
- 25:08Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, not to you know, obviously you can't
- 25:10Speaker 6: do bus. But uh we had a guy that was
- 25:13Speaker 6: one of our players a few years back that it
- 25:15Speaker 6: was it was it was really good at it. I
- 25:18Speaker 6: mean he was so to the point, like literally even
- 25:20Speaker 6: though every time he go down, I really didn't know,
- 25:22Speaker 6: like he he sold it well. So I'd be going
- 25:24Speaker 6: out there and you know, and I'd be like, oh, man,
- 25:26Speaker 6: is this is this time real? And you know this
- 25:28Speaker 6: is this is this is when Jack was still our guy,
- 25:30Speaker 6: and I guess he'd kind of gave me the look
- 25:31Speaker 6: and I know, okay, I can kind of not not
- 25:34Speaker 6: be as worried now, but yeah, usually you still gotta
- 25:36Speaker 6: you got to do your part in that scenario because
- 25:38Speaker 6: it would happen. Guys tired, He's like, I need a breather. Yeah,
- 25:40Speaker 6: well let's let's stress his hand me out for a second.
- 25:42Speaker 6: Let's kind of take a look at this knee and
- 25:43Speaker 6: and and yeah you have to. You know people won't
- 25:46Speaker 6: like hearing it, but that's part of it.
- 25:47Speaker 2: You're a team doctor, so you're a part of the team.
- 25:53Speaker 6: I don't want to be the reason we got the
- 25:54Speaker 6: fifty thousand dollars.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Fine, so you know, I'll never.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Forget when I did it against Florida because my chin
- 25:59Speaker 3: strap would buckle and I was on extra point. I'm
- 26:02Speaker 3: sitting down there and I just scored a touchdown and
- 26:04Speaker 3: Baron Jack come out there, and then you know, they're like,
- 26:07Speaker 3: what's going on.
- 26:08Speaker 2: I'm holding my knee. I'm like, I think I'm really
- 26:09Speaker 2: selling it's probably really bad.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I was like, Trip won't buckle on there, and Jay goes, oh,
- 26:14Speaker 3: my you wanted a curtain call.
- 26:19Speaker 2: You wanted a curt Oh, you know, I don't hate it.
- 26:24Speaker 5: I faked that injury against Alabama and it's just so
- 26:29Speaker 5: bad because my chin strap broke. So we did a
- 26:31Speaker 5: we did like a reverse pass early, do set throw
- 26:33Speaker 5: a pass to me down the sideline.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I get tackled. You know, I don't have a thirty forty
- 26:37Speaker 2: yard game.
- 26:38Speaker 5: And I get there and Carnel Stewart, all right, tackle
- 26:40Speaker 5: comes down to celebrate me head butts me and it
- 26:42Speaker 5: breaks my chin strap and like you could see it.
- 26:46Speaker 5: They have a zoomed in vision of it on the
- 26:48Speaker 5: game copy, on the TV copy, and it's like, I'm
- 26:51Speaker 5: trying to like buckle my my chin strap and it
- 26:54Speaker 5: won't buckle, and I look at it. You can see
- 26:56Speaker 5: me looking at it, and I see that as broken.
- 26:58Speaker 5: And I look up and you can see the whill spinning.
- 27:00Speaker 5: And then I go back to my training and I
- 27:02Speaker 5: grabbed my knee and it just hit the ground, and
- 27:05Speaker 5: I think an injury. Like oh, then I realized, Oh,
- 27:08Speaker 5: when they tell us to do that, they're talking to
- 27:10Speaker 5: everybody but the quarterback. Yeah, the quarterback can't really do
- 27:13Speaker 5: it because I'm just gonna take a time out anyway.
- 27:15Speaker 3: I'll tell you this doctor, and I think we could
- 27:17Speaker 3: probably find it. It was so bad that they thought
- 27:20Speaker 3: he was cancussed a little bit.
- 27:22Speaker 2: They thought he had a.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Oh me play football looking at it like gin strap
- 27:28Speaker 3: and then you just like, oh you see the light go.
- 27:31Speaker 5: I remember my my parents after after the game, like, hey,
- 27:34Speaker 5: next time you do that, can you not take a
- 27:36Speaker 5: knee injury?
- 27:37Speaker 2: Like maybe just grab your shoulder or something and go
- 27:39Speaker 2: down a little closer to there.
- 27:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess a p s A. You know, don't
- 27:42Speaker 6: don't have but your quarterback.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Our tackle like Aaron Rodgers got maybe Oh my god
- 27:48Speaker 3: the other day, did you see that? Not they I
- 27:50Speaker 3: mean they go down, they score as a dime by
- 27:53Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers, they take the lead. They end up losing,
- 27:55Speaker 3: but they take the lead. Looks like they're gonna win
- 27:57Speaker 3: the game. And a young offensive lineman comes behind Aaron
- 27:59Speaker 3: Rodger just kind of jumps on his back and tackles
- 28:01Speaker 3: him to the ground. And the look that Aaron Rodgers
- 28:04Speaker 3: gave him when he got kill. Hey, I'm forty one
- 28:07Speaker 3: years old, my guy, I don't get to you.
- 28:10Speaker 6: Know, we don't need any other reasons there. That's that's
- 28:12Speaker 6: forty one impressive.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Oh all right, doc, Well hopefully next week we come
- 28:19Speaker 3: here and it's better circumstances.
- 28:21Speaker 2: You know, with LSU, with a FSU, I got faith
- 28:25Speaker 2: he can have good vibes.
- 28:25Speaker 6: You know, I think we're gonna end them month strong.
- 28:27Speaker 5: I feel it. I got I got one last question.
- 28:29Speaker 5: So do you think that So we look at in
- 28:32Speaker 5: the NFL scope of things, like so hester a big
- 28:34Speaker 5: Chargers fan, Chargers riddle with injuries. We see teams that
- 28:37Speaker 5: are just that have the injury bug and it's and
- 28:40Speaker 5: it and there's no like reason. Why do you see
- 28:43Speaker 5: correlations with a team that gets riddled? Is it just
- 28:47Speaker 5: pure unlucky or is it you know a lot of
- 28:49Speaker 5: people like to harp on the strength staff and the
- 28:52Speaker 5: strength coaches, like, do you see a correlation with one
- 28:55Speaker 5: way of training and a team being more riddled with
- 28:59Speaker 5: injury or is it just just luck?
- 29:01Speaker 6: I think you can make the argument for both. I
- 29:03Speaker 6: think in my experience more often luck because I've been
- 29:06Speaker 6: on several teams that seem to do things the same way. Yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 6: and you can look at one year versus the next,
- 29:10Speaker 6: you know, just here at LSU, you look at one
- 29:12Speaker 6: year versus the next when we've had the same staff
- 29:14Speaker 6: and same practice schedules, and one year compared the next
- 29:17Speaker 6: completely different. So there's clearly a love component. But I
- 29:19Speaker 6: also wouldn't wouldn't you know, be nigive enough to say
- 29:22Speaker 6: there's not other factors. You know, if you once you
- 29:24Speaker 6: start getting injuries, so maybe you're your backup lineman is
- 29:27Speaker 6: now having to reps the first and second team, so
- 29:29Speaker 6: he's getting extra reps, and there's other there's reasons that
- 29:31Speaker 6: make sense both from a fair and logical standpoint, and
- 29:34Speaker 6: then from you know, is there something that goes into
- 29:36Speaker 6: how you train, how you practice? You know, it's something
- 29:39Speaker 6: that that probably is there. But I think if I
- 29:41Speaker 6: had to say, it's more often luck, that's that's yeah,
- 29:44Speaker 6: we see it too often and you have too too
- 29:46Speaker 6: much you know, coincidence that the same year year, year,
- 29:49Speaker 6: and then all of a sudden, one year you have,
- 29:51Speaker 6: you know, twice as many injuries.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Why does that happen?
- 29:52Speaker 5: I guess I guess it would be like sometimes like
- 29:54Speaker 5: if you get hyper extended or rolled up on.
- 29:56Speaker 2: That's that's pure bad luck.
- 29:58Speaker 5: But I guess if a team has more like soft
- 30:00Speaker 5: issue injuries, you could probably try to look at external
- 30:02Speaker 5: factors of why the soft tissue bug is hit your team.
- 30:05Speaker 6: And we've looked at that and I think we found
- 30:07Speaker 6: some ways to make modifications. And then obviously head injuries.
- 30:09Speaker 6: How you know, with the concussions and camps and things
- 30:11Speaker 6: like that, why were some years worse And you could
- 30:13Speaker 6: go back and look like, yeah, maybe you know that
- 30:15Speaker 6: year we did a little bit more. Yeah, so there's
- 30:17Speaker 6: there's there's definitely correlations. But then on the other hand,
- 30:20Speaker 6: you know, sometimes you gotta be lucky.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Yeah, so you're telling me whenever my parents would see
- 30:25Speaker 3: like a team that kind of was going through the
- 30:26Speaker 3: injury bug, and they're like, didn't drink their milk.
- 30:29Speaker 2: There's a milk.
- 30:30Speaker 6: I'm not gonna question Mom and daddy Hesters, so that
- 30:32Speaker 6: they probably do. They're talking about it all right, because
- 30:34Speaker 6: their milk it does a body good.
- 30:35Speaker 2: But they were like, hey, weak bones, didn't drink their milk.
- 30:38Speaker 5: And I'm telling you a lot less injuries people. People
- 30:40Speaker 5: used to pitch two games in a day, No elbow injuries. Yeah, milk,
- 30:43Speaker 5: I get that calcium to get that cot Yeah, I
- 30:45Speaker 5: get it.
- 30:46Speaker 4: In doc.
- 30:46Speaker 3: We appreciate you, sir, all right, we will step away

- 33:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you remember that he started singing into his wife?

- 34:27Speaker 2: Got a I got a quick stat for you.
- 34:30Speaker 5: I like numbers, so I talked about earlier the week
- 34:33Speaker 5: schedule of Texas A and M coming into this game.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Of course you know rightfully, So there are top five team, talented,
- 34:39Speaker 5: team top to bottom, the Moffitt effect. Everything we talked
- 34:43Speaker 5: about their strength to schedule. So I looked at want
- 34:45Speaker 5: to go see Marcel Reid's stats versus their only opponent
- 34:49Speaker 5: that's been ranked in the top twenty five. They've only
- 34:51Speaker 5: played one team that has been that is ranked in
- 34:54Speaker 5: the top twenty five or that has been ranked in
- 34:56Speaker 5: the top twenty five this season at some point, and
- 34:59Speaker 5: that is Notre Dame. Of course, the great victory. Marcel
- 35:03Speaker 5: Reed made the plays at the end of the game.
- 35:05Speaker 5: But I wanted to see his passing stats. Now, he
- 35:07Speaker 5: threw for three hundred and sixty yards, hit some big
- 35:10Speaker 5: plays at average of nine point seven yards, two touchdowns,
- 35:13Speaker 5: one interception, but completion percentage seventeen of thirty seven, which
- 35:19Speaker 5: is just over forty five percent completion rate. So in
- 35:22Speaker 5: this day in college football, forty five anything below like
- 35:24Speaker 5: fifty five is not good by back in the old
- 35:27Speaker 5: school way of playing, if you're above fifty percent, it's
- 35:30Speaker 5: a good day at the office. But in this world
- 35:33Speaker 5: forty five percent is a is a poor completion percentage. Now,
- 35:38Speaker 5: he got the victory, made the plays that matter. But
- 35:41Speaker 5: what is one of the strengths of this LSU team.
- 35:44Speaker 5: I would say the strength of the LSU team our secondary. Yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 5: they eat they're good individually, they're individual matchups, So there's
- 35:53Speaker 5: opportunities here Marcel Reid has improved in his passing game
- 35:56Speaker 5: since last year, but just looking at the opponents they've faced,
- 36:02Speaker 5: the only ranked opponent they faced had a below fifty
- 36:05Speaker 5: percent completion percentage. They hit some big play That's why
- 36:08Speaker 5: he had three hundred and sixty total yards. Yeah, passing,
- 36:11Speaker 5: but I think this will be by far the best
- 36:15Speaker 5: secondary he has faced. So let's get that death Valley mojo.
- 36:21Speaker 5: Let's get it rocking. I know we're not where we
- 36:23Speaker 5: want to be. The expectation for this team is far greater,
- 36:27Speaker 5: exceeds far more than what the production is seemed at
- 36:29Speaker 5: this point of the year. But we got an opportunity
- 36:32Speaker 5: to turn it around. And it all starts with each
- 36:35Speaker 5: and every one of the fans going out to the
- 36:37Speaker 5: Tiger Stadium being loud, creating the advantage, creating the advantage
- 36:42Speaker 5: for our defense. Let's feed the strength of our team,
- 36:46Speaker 5: which is the defense. That secondary, make it hard, make
- 36:49Speaker 5: it hard to communicate, and let's see if that defense
- 36:51Speaker 5: can go create some turnovers.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Someone asked me about his rushing totals this year. He
- 36:56Speaker 3: has fifty one carries two hundred and forty one yards. Now,
- 37:00Speaker 3: you got to remember the sack yards are taken away
- 37:02Speaker 3: from that, So as far as what he's gained is
- 37:05Speaker 3: going to be a greater number than that, but it's
- 37:07Speaker 3: four point seven.
- 37:08Speaker 2: So still having success on the ground as well, but.
- 37:11Speaker 3: To match points, sixty one percent completion percentage, and it's
- 37:14Speaker 3: wild because, like you know, fifteen years ago, that's great,
- 37:19Speaker 3: sixty one over kidding me, but now it's like, you
- 37:21Speaker 3: want a closer to seventy. And it was in that
- 37:24Speaker 3: Notre Dame game forty five point nine percent, and you know,
- 37:29Speaker 3: you look at the next game. Didn't throw the ball
- 37:31Speaker 3: as much, only twenty two times against the Auburn secondary
- 37:34Speaker 3: against Mississippi State thirteen of twenty three, only completed fifty
- 37:39Speaker 3: six percent of his passes.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Now, in a game like this.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Matt, knowing that you do have some really good defensive backs,
- 37:45Speaker 3: they haven't really been tested. Again, everything has kind of
- 37:48Speaker 3: been made against Eli shoot through the air a lot
- 37:50Speaker 3: of times. It's been the tight end position. It's been
- 37:53Speaker 3: more linebackers in coverage. So with that being said, knowing
- 37:57Speaker 3: your skill set, knowing they've got really good receiver as well,
- 38:00Speaker 3: like I want to make sure I give them their flowers.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Those two guys are really good. Would you expect l
- 38:06Speaker 2: to be more aggressive?
- 38:07Speaker 3: Would you expect them to you know they played quarters
- 38:10Speaker 3: in this game against Vanderbilt.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Would you expect to see Cover one? Like? What do
- 38:14Speaker 2: you expect?
- 38:15Speaker 3: Like?
- 38:15Speaker 2: What would you do if you knew that was your matchup?
- 38:21Speaker 5: I would isolate, I would isolate man sore, isolate one
- 38:25Speaker 5: on one and then play So a lot of teams
- 38:28Speaker 5: right now, like I see a lot of things. Times
- 38:30Speaker 5: they will play a like a normal shell coverage.
- 38:36Speaker 2: To the second receiver.
- 38:37Speaker 5: And then and the man to man the outside guy,
- 38:40Speaker 5: So play quarters that it creates a numbers advantage for
- 38:42Speaker 5: the other the second and the third, the backside receiver
- 38:45Speaker 5: they running back.
- 38:46Speaker 2: So you can do that.
- 38:47Speaker 5: But I think the big thing is just being versatile
- 38:50Speaker 5: and being disciplined in your assignments. Because Blake Baker is
- 38:54Speaker 5: going to be aggressive. That's who he is at the
- 38:57Speaker 5: soul of everything.
- 38:58Speaker 3: I mean, last game Cover one one, I would say
- 39:00Speaker 3: almost half the time, yeahs in there for sure.
- 39:05Speaker 2: He wants to create confusion.
- 39:06Speaker 5: He wants in and he wants to create ENTI your
- 39:10Speaker 5: stadium too, wants to create chaos because it's going to
- 39:13Speaker 5: be loud, and so you got you hit all the
- 39:16Speaker 5: five senses, right, so you got you smell the alcohol. Okay,
- 39:20Speaker 5: As a quarterback, you hear everything and then what you
- 39:22Speaker 5: want to be seen, what you want to be seeing.
- 39:25Speaker 5: You want to see confusion, like when you have all
- 39:28Speaker 5: that noise happening and you got people walking around, you're
- 39:31Speaker 5: eating grass and you're feeling it, You're feeling getting hit,
- 39:34Speaker 5: You're feeling the intensity the sound waves. Yeah, play Baker
- 39:39Speaker 5: wants to be aggressive and control, but we have to
- 39:43Speaker 5: be disciplined in our assignments. Are edge rushers, and when
- 39:46Speaker 5: you blitz and have a free look at the quarterback,
- 39:48Speaker 5: which is going to come because of the confusion, that,
- 39:51Speaker 5: like Baker's defense can create confusion, you'll get a free
- 39:54Speaker 5: corner blitzing. You gotta be more disciplined in your rush assignment.
- 39:58Speaker 5: You got to go to the upfield. Childer downfield too.
- 40:01Speaker 5: You have to go. You have to anticipate him trying
- 40:05Speaker 5: to get outside of you.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Uh.
- 40:07Speaker 5: And we lost contained too many times this past week
- 40:11Speaker 5: and and of course it was bad. Diego Pavi have
- 40:15Speaker 5: made plays. But it's good teaching tape. It's great teaching
- 40:18Speaker 5: from You have to learn from it. So can they
- 40:20Speaker 5: apply what they're seeing from their mistakes. Can they apply
- 40:23Speaker 5: it this week?
- 40:25Speaker 1: Do?
- 40:26Speaker 5: I think Marcel read is the the overall player that
- 40:31Speaker 5: Diego pave is. They're different a little bit similar as well.
- 40:35Speaker 5: I think Marcel's got a little bit more of like
- 40:37Speaker 5: a little bit more of a burst.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Diego's got more of a chaotic energy and.
- 40:45Speaker 5: Chat I thrive in chaos. Doesn't matter what's happened around me.
- 40:50Speaker 5: I'm going to find a way to make a play
- 40:52Speaker 5: and things are just gonna happen around me because the
- 40:53Speaker 5: guys are doing their assignment. So I mean, can Elis
- 40:59Speaker 5: use defense have a big game? Absolutely? Absolutely, I think
- 41:03Speaker 5: they can. But they got to fix some things. They
- 41:04Speaker 5: got to be more disciplined. Harold Perkins, when he's in
- 41:06Speaker 5: past coverage, cannot leave his past coverage assignment to go
- 41:12Speaker 5: chase down a quarterback. I don't like seeing the double spies. Yeah,
- 41:16Speaker 5: Like were a lot of times that we're seeing two
- 41:19Speaker 5: spies on the quarterback. Yeah, I don't like to see
- 41:21Speaker 5: that because you got either one less person in pass
- 41:24Speaker 5: rushing or one less person in past coverage. Sure, is
- 41:28Speaker 5: it warranted every now and then? Yeah, you can confuse
- 41:30Speaker 5: some people, But I think we're seeing it a little
- 41:32Speaker 5: too much. I'd like to see just one guy spy.
- 41:36Speaker 5: So you have to create numbers bangs. You got to
- 41:38Speaker 5: get to the quarterback. But I mean, it's got a
- 41:41Speaker 5: got a good opportunity. This is this is going to
- 41:42Speaker 5: be I believe I would think that this is their
- 41:46Speaker 5: quarterback's toughest challenge. I know Notre Dame's got a good defense.
- 41:50Speaker 5: I know Notre Dame is a good team ish kind
- 41:53Speaker 5: of all.

- 43:04Speaker 3: Welcome to Geo TV, Raisey King Studio. You got a
- 43:09Speaker 3: little alternate.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Yeah, so we got a big matchup this week and
- 43:12Speaker 5: in the NFL it oh Yeahler Steelers first, the Packers,
- 43:18Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers playing his former team first time, right, first time? Yeah, yeah,
- 43:23Speaker 5: of course. He spent a lot of time with Jordan
- 43:25Speaker 5: Love and help mentor him. Was a great mentor towards him.
- 43:28Speaker 5: There's actually a really good, cool article about it. But
- 43:32Speaker 5: the Steelers I saw, are revealing a new alternate uniform
- 43:36Speaker 5: for this game, and there it is. They got a
- 43:40Speaker 5: gold helmet, some weird stripe on the front.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Those are like the old throwback like leather helmet day
- 43:47Speaker 2: jersey that you would see.
- 43:51Speaker 5: Yep, yeah, anyway, that that's I wish they were just
- 43:55Speaker 5: like in their traditionals for this matchup. Honestly, just a
- 43:58Speaker 5: traditional uniform Green Bay. Though going back, I actually don't
- 44:01Speaker 5: know if that. I don't think it's not in Green Bay.
- 44:04Speaker 5: I think it's I wish I think somebody said, I
- 44:06Speaker 5: think I read somewhere it might be one of the
- 44:08Speaker 5: first or one of the few gold helmet matchups the
- 44:11Speaker 5: NFL has ever had.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so I was rooting for Oh wait, I'm going
- 44:20Speaker 2: for a good game. And no, no, no, no, what
- 44:23Speaker 2: are you rooting for? A man?
- 44:26Speaker 5: I don't know, Probably the Steelers, Yeah, maybe the package.
- 44:30Speaker 2: I don't know. It's gonna be fun, all right, Switzerland. Uh,
