- 0:00Speaker 1: Team ten WIBA and ask the Experts, joined this morning
- 0:04Speaker 1: by doctor Marty Greer. Of course, doctor Greer comes to
- 0:06Speaker 1: us from Checkout Veterinary. The website checkout vet dot com.
- 0:11Speaker 1: That's checkout vet dot com. Really cool website to learn
- 0:15Speaker 1: more about checkout veterinary. Also a great place kind of get.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It's a really well laid out website to kind of
- 0:21Speaker 1: show you how checkout veterinary works. And again that's easy
- 0:25Speaker 1: to get to checkout vet dot com. That's checkout vet
- 0:28Speaker 1: dot com. Joining us in studio is doctor Marty Greer,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Checkout Veterinary.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Doctor. How are you doing this morning?
- 0:33Speaker 3: I'm doing great. Thank you.
- 0:34Speaker 1: You and I were having so much fun talking before
- 0:36Speaker 1: we almost missed the show, which is I think is
- 0:40Speaker 1: an important part of doing a show, as you and
- 0:41Speaker 1: I being in here.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, so great to see you this morning.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Of course, doctor Greer, recognized by Westminster Kennel Club as
- 0:48Speaker 1: Veterinarian of the Year, talked about the website checkout vet
- 0:51Speaker 1: dot com. Haven't mentioned the location. It is so convenient
- 0:54Speaker 1: to get out to check out vet. They are right
- 0:56Speaker 1: off the Interstate at twenty seven to ten Prairie Lake Drive,
- 0:59Speaker 1: right off the highway.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Off the air.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Stage's very convenient. If you can hear our voice this morning,
- 1:03Speaker 1: you are near checkout vet there telephone number six oh
- 1:06Speaker 1: eight three one eight sixty seven hundred. That's six 'h
- 1:08Speaker 1: eight three one eight sixty seven hundred. We learned last
- 1:11Speaker 1: week from doctor Greer.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Open seven days, week nine until five every single day.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Doctor Greer, yes, and we're working on some evening hours,
- 1:18Speaker 3: so we're not there yet, but stay tuned because we
- 1:21Speaker 3: want to be really available for people. It's very important
- 1:24Speaker 3: to our staff and our doctors.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I literally you said that I was reading a I
- 1:27Speaker 1: like this website reddit, and I'll read different things, and
- 1:30Speaker 1: there's a reddit for pets and one of the uh
- 1:33Speaker 1: one of the questions was it was calling all pet enthusiasts,
- 1:36Speaker 1: what do you find most challenging about pet care? And
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm like scrolling through everybody's answer, Having a VET available
- 1:42Speaker 1: when I need them was the number one out of
- 1:45Speaker 1: like by far and away out of And that can
- 1:47Speaker 1: be and that's part of why you do things the
- 1:49Speaker 1: way you do is you know that that can be
- 1:50Speaker 1: a challenge and you want to make sure that pets
- 1:52Speaker 1: are getting good care and it's convenient for.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Folks absolutely, and that's a real driving force for us.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And it's not just evening, it's can I get in today?
- 2:02Speaker 3: I woke up this morning and my pet was sick.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I got home from work and my pet isn't feeling well,
- 2:06Speaker 3: has an ear infection, you know whatever. We're there on Saturdays,
- 2:09Speaker 3: where there, on Sundays, where there every day we have
- 2:12Speaker 3: openings in the schedule. We provide for those deliberately so
- 2:16Speaker 3: that you can get in. So please, if you have
- 2:18Speaker 3: a problem, you don't have to be established with us
- 2:21Speaker 3: to come in, give us a call. We will walk
- 2:24Speaker 3: through fire to get you in because it's really important
- 2:26Speaker 3: to us to make that happen.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Are we an ear infection season? Allergy sees? Okay?
- 2:31Speaker 1: I feel like I've heard from other some folks saying,
- 2:34Speaker 1: have my dog and my cat are just dealing with that?
- 2:36Speaker 2: Is it allergies that cause it this time of year?
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah, allergies? And you know, then we get into swimming
- 2:41Speaker 3: and rain and all the stuff that happens in the
- 2:44Speaker 3: environment that changes how much humidity there is and how
- 2:47Speaker 3: much moisture there is down in their ears are on
- 2:48Speaker 3: their skin, and pollens, grasp pollens and tree pollens. This
- 2:52Speaker 3: time of year, and then we get into the summer
- 2:54Speaker 3: and the fall, we'll start to see ragbreed pollens. So
- 2:57Speaker 3: there's a lot of things going on. Of course, there's fleas, into's, mosquitos,
- 3:01Speaker 3: all the stuff. It happens, and so the more time
- 3:04Speaker 3: you spend outside with them, the more exposure they have.
- 3:07Speaker 3: So it's important that you're providing those preventive cares and
- 3:11Speaker 3: that you're really paying attention to what's going on so
- 3:13Speaker 3: that we can catch it early.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And speaking of paying attention to things that are going on,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I know we are just good about to kick off
- 3:18Speaker 1: this weekend official start of summer with Memorial Day, and
- 3:21Speaker 1: you mentioned Pet's getting out into the water and doing
- 3:23Speaker 1: some swimming. Madison Public Health and Dane County they're getting ready,
- 3:28Speaker 1: of course, with water quality testing and other things. I
- 3:30Speaker 1: want to ask you a little bit about that in
- 3:31Speaker 1: just a moment, But first, if you have a question
- 3:33Speaker 1: for doctor Greer. I haven't said this enough and I
- 3:35Speaker 1: feel somewhat neglectful in doing this. The phone lines are open.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It's great to have a question and get you on
- 3:41Speaker 1: the air with doctor Greer. All I got to do
- 3:43Speaker 1: is dial us in here at station six eight three
- 3:45Speaker 1: two one thirteen ten. That's six SOH eight three two
- 3:48Speaker 1: one thirteen ten. If you've got a question for doctor
- 3:50Speaker 1: Marty Greer of Checkout Veterinary, we'd love to.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Have you join us again.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The telephone number to get on the air six SOH
- 3:55Speaker 1: eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six SOH eight
- 3:58Speaker 1: three two one thirteen ten. And checking for things like
- 4:01Speaker 1: blue green algae and E.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Coli. And I know like blue green algae, and.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Obviously coli also is very can be very very dangerous
- 4:10Speaker 1: for pets. But it's like those really warm days or
- 4:13Speaker 1: what do we know about blue green algae? And why
- 4:17Speaker 1: let's talk about this.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I'll just put this in your car so it looks
- 4:21Speaker 2: like algae.
- 4:22Speaker 3: It's frequently not truly an algae, that it's truly a bacteria.
- 4:25Speaker 3: But it causes in some cases the water color to
- 4:28Speaker 3: change to a blue or green color, but not always.
- 4:32Speaker 3: It can be pink, it can be red, it can
- 4:33Speaker 3: be clear. So it's not always a true testimonial to
- 4:36Speaker 3: whether there's blue green aalergae in the water or not.
- 4:39Speaker 3: To look at the water. We see it at its worst,
- 4:42Speaker 3: typically in August, after we've had a nice long stretch
- 4:45Speaker 3: of hot weather, so it's a little early in the
- 4:47Speaker 3: season to see it. But I was doing some reading
- 4:50Speaker 3: about this because the Madison Department of Health just put
- 4:52Speaker 3: this article out and they can do testing on the
- 4:55Speaker 3: water for ecoli, and that represents all coliforms, so it's
- 4:58Speaker 3: not just ecoli, it's anything that's passed through the gut,
- 5:01Speaker 3: and it comes from wildlife geese and deer and cows
- 5:05Speaker 3: upstream and all the stuff. Those all can contribute to it.
- 5:08Speaker 3: But the blue grenalgae in particular is pretty toxic and
- 5:11Speaker 3: it's been a real challenge because there isn't a test
- 5:14Speaker 3: that you can do. You can't go down to the
- 5:16Speaker 3: pond or the lake and dip out some water and
- 5:19Speaker 3: test it. It has to be done by a public
- 5:21Speaker 3: health official. There isn't that do it yourself kit. And
- 5:25Speaker 3: the article I was reading just before we started was
- 5:28Speaker 3: from twenty nineteen, which is of course a few years ago,
- 5:30Speaker 3: but it was actually a dog in Madison that was
- 5:33Speaker 3: in a national publication that did survive. His name was Larry.
- 5:38Speaker 3: He did survive because he ended up at the UW
- 5:41Speaker 3: with the kind of supportive care that it takes. There's
- 5:43Speaker 3: not a specific antidote for this disease, it's basically supportive care.
- 5:47Speaker 3: But they can have respiratory problems, gi problems, they can
- 5:50Speaker 3: have neurologic problems like seizures, and it can look like
- 5:53Speaker 3: almost anything. It can look like leptosporosis, it can look
- 5:56Speaker 3: like hepatitis. It can cause liver failure like any other toxicity.
- 6:01Speaker 3: And so it's basically supportive care until they can make
- 6:04Speaker 3: a recovery. And hopefully they do recover, but it's bad
- 6:07Speaker 3: and it can affect them within fifteen minutes. It's really significant,
- 6:10Speaker 3: am I?
- 6:11Speaker 2: Am I right? In this too?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Is I think sometimes we think, well, the dog has
- 6:14Speaker 1: to maybe drink the water, but just simply being in it,
- 6:17Speaker 1: obviously they're in ailing some I mean, even just simple
- 6:21Speaker 1: very small amount can cause issues, can't it.
- 6:24Speaker 3: It can, And they even talk about veterinary staff being
- 6:26Speaker 3: careful with not getting contact on their skin from the
- 6:30Speaker 3: algae on the coat of the dog. So the first
- 6:32Speaker 3: recommendation is to give the dog a bath, and typically
- 6:35Speaker 3: will recommend something like dawn dish soap because it breaks
- 6:37Speaker 3: up the oils, does a nice job. If you can
- 6:39Speaker 3: bathe baby ducks in it, you can bathe your dog
- 6:41Speaker 3: in it. So you know, we've all seen the commercials,
- 6:43Speaker 3: so it's a good thing to have around. But basically,
- 6:46Speaker 3: if you don't think the water looks safe, you should
- 6:49Speaker 3: not let your dog wait in it drink it. And
- 6:51Speaker 3: even if you don't think they're going to drink, they're
- 6:53Speaker 3: just going to step out and kind of walk around. Yeah. No,
- 6:56Speaker 3: dogs immediately decide that they're going to drink, and they
- 6:58Speaker 3: don't have good judgment that the water doesn't look clear,
- 7:02Speaker 3: the water doesn't look safe, and they're just going to
- 7:04Speaker 3: drink it if they're thirsty. So you have to be careful.
- 7:07Speaker 2: And some of the stuff too can be tricky.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You mentioned, you know, things like e colon and other
- 7:11Speaker 1: things they don't have that there's no color. It can
- 7:13Speaker 1: be right, water look perfectly normal, So you definitely want
- 7:16Speaker 1: to follow along and monitor those type of situations. Now, dogs,
- 7:21Speaker 1: if they're a water dog, they live for that stuff.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I know. We used to have labs and I had
- 7:26Speaker 3: the one. I swear she should have been born with
- 7:28Speaker 3: gills because she would have spent her entire life in
- 7:31Speaker 3: the water if we could have let her. But she
- 7:32Speaker 3: didn't have good hips, so we'd have to drag her
- 7:34Speaker 3: back out because she would end up trying to overdo it,
- 7:38Speaker 3: so our dogs don't have good judgment. If you really
- 7:41Speaker 3: want to have your dog swim and it want to
- 7:42Speaker 3: be safe, a pool is going to be your best bet,
- 7:44Speaker 3: So a waiting pool in your backyard, a full sized
- 7:47Speaker 3: pool in your backyard, taking them to a facility. There's
- 7:50Speaker 3: lots of places you can take your dog for swimming
- 7:52Speaker 3: and swimming lessons and they're good physical therapy. There's a
- 7:55Speaker 3: lot of things you can do, so just be really
- 7:57Speaker 3: thoughtful and pay attention to the news reports. If there's
- 7:59Speaker 3: a posting at the lake or the pond or wherever
- 8:02Speaker 3: you're going and it says it's not safe for you,
- 8:04Speaker 3: it's not safe for your dog either, So use some
- 8:06Speaker 3: good common sense and pay attention to the news because
- 8:09Speaker 3: it's very early in the season to already be testing.
- 8:12Speaker 3: But like you said, it's an official beginning of summer,
- 8:14Speaker 3: well unofficial beginning of summer because it's Memorial Day, so
- 8:17Speaker 3: we all think we should, you know, bust out and
- 8:19Speaker 3: you know, start doing fun summer stuff. But our dogs
- 8:22Speaker 3: don't have any idea and they don't have any judgment,
- 8:24Speaker 3: so it's really up to us to keep them safe.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Talk this morning with doctor Marty Greer of Checkout Veterinary.
- 8:28Speaker 1: If you've got a question for doctor Greer, love to
- 8:31Speaker 1: have join us this morning, tell for number six soh
- 8:32Speaker 1: eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six oh eight
- 8:35Speaker 1: three two one thirteen ten. Of course, doctor Greer comes
- 8:38Speaker 1: to us from Checkout Veterinary online checkout vet dot com.
- 8:42Speaker 1: That's checkout vet dot com. Don't forget that first visit
- 8:45Speaker 1: that appointment that examed, that is free to you. Again,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you can learn more online at checkout vet dot com.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Even better, great data. Start that relationship, make an appointment,
- 8:53Speaker 1: get on into checkout Veterinary. They're telful number six so
- 8:55Speaker 1: eight three one eight sixty seven hundred. That's six oh
- 8:58Speaker 1: eight three one eight sixty seven. Again the website checkout
- 9:01Speaker 1: vet dot com. That's check out vet dot com. And
- 9:03Speaker 1: I do know also, dogs love sprinklers, like a particularly
- 9:08Speaker 1: certain dogs, I should say universally. I don't think my
- 9:12Speaker 1: dog would care for sprinkler, but I see like like
- 9:14Speaker 1: garden hoses and stuff. They love like that stuff too,
- 9:17Speaker 1: which is probably a safer alternative as well to keep
- 9:20Speaker 1: it them cool.
- 9:20Speaker 3: And it's a nice safe way to do it. So
- 9:22Speaker 3: put up a waiting pool in your backyard. Get out
- 9:24Speaker 3: the sprinkler. They make little doggy sprinklers that they can
- 9:26Speaker 3: run back and forth. And they aren't really meant to
- 9:28Speaker 3: sprinkle your lawn, but meant for the dog. So the kids,
- 9:31Speaker 3: the dog, they can all go out and have a
- 9:33Speaker 3: good time together. Of course, you know, put sunscreen on
- 9:36Speaker 3: the kids. You don't have to worry about that quite
- 9:38Speaker 3: so much on the dog. But there's a lot of
- 9:40Speaker 3: fun stuff you can do with water. They love frisbee,
- 9:44Speaker 3: so you can throw the frisbee into the pool. So
- 9:47Speaker 3: do some things that are really fun. There's actually a sport.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Do you know about the sport dock diving?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Oh, where they throw the thing they run and yes.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yeah, there's an official sport that AKC holds. It's called
- 9:58Speaker 3: dock diving and essentially it's like a broad jump for
- 10:00Speaker 3: your dog into the water. So they set up all
- 10:03Speaker 3: these pools when they go to events. So for instance,
- 10:05Speaker 3: the Kettle Marine Kettle Club the last weekend in June
- 10:08Speaker 3: is going to have their show at Washington County at
- 10:09Speaker 3: the Fairgrounds and they'll be duck diving there. I don't
- 10:12Speaker 3: know if there will be at Wakashaw, so keep an
- 10:14Speaker 3: eye out for some of those events. But they're really fun.
- 10:17Speaker 3: The dogs are very athletic, so they stand on a platform.
- 10:20Speaker 3: The owner will throw a dummy that will float into
- 10:24Speaker 3: the water and the dog goes chasing down the platform,
- 10:27Speaker 3: leaps into the water, and then they measure how far
- 10:30Speaker 3: your dog could jump, and it's based of course on
- 10:32Speaker 3: the size of the dog. So I have little dogs.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I have Danish Swedish farm dogs. They can't jump as
- 10:36Speaker 3: far as a Labrador. But it's really fun to watch.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And these dogs are really serious about this sport, like
- 10:43Speaker 3: they are serious. They get very excited.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Oh that is that is really cool.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I think I've seen maybe like one of the espns,
- 10:51Speaker 1: like one of the heads has had it on before
- 10:53Speaker 1: and it's one of.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Those where you're like, wow, that'd be really cool to see.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can see it in person, So don't
- 10:57Speaker 3: hesitate to Kettle Marine Dogs shows the last week in
- 11:00Speaker 3: June and Walkshaw's the last weekend in July. So there's
- 11:03Speaker 3: some really fun dog events out there if you want
- 11:05Speaker 3: to just go and see different breeds or see different events.
- 11:07Speaker 3: We have Fastcat I'm a member of all these clubs. Yes,
- 11:12Speaker 3: so there's fastcat, and there's doc diving, and there's agility
- 11:14Speaker 3: and rally obedience and regular obedience and some really fun stuff.
- 11:19Speaker 3: So if you're interested, go watch and then get your
- 11:22Speaker 3: dog signed up for a class and start doing some
- 11:25Speaker 3: of these sports. You don't have to have a pure
- 11:27Speaker 3: bread dog to do those sports. You can do it
- 11:29Speaker 3: with almost any dog.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Oh that should be that's really cool.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yeah, as we talked this morning with doctor Marty Griff,
- 11:35Speaker 1: checkout Veterinary. What a great great thing to take in
- 11:38Speaker 1: and maybe a sport your future pet or your current
- 11:41Speaker 1: pet may want to participate in as well. Of course
- 11:43Speaker 1: we talked with doctor Gear. She comes to us from
- 11:45Speaker 1: Checkout Veterinary. The website check out vet dot com. That's
- 11:49Speaker 1: checkout vet dot com. Don't forget your first visit, that
- 11:51Speaker 1: first exam that is free to you. There open seven
- 11:54Speaker 1: days a week out at checkout Vet from nine until five.
- 11:57Speaker 1: A really really convenient location, a great way to uh
- 12:01Speaker 1: to say, have your pet see the vet.
- 12:02Speaker 2: At checkout vet. You can learn more all about it
- 12:04Speaker 2: online checkout vet dot com. Let's check out vet dot com.
- 12:08Speaker 1: We'll talk fleas, we'll talk tics, and you spark something
- 12:10Speaker 1: as you always do. Doctor in my mind, I was
- 12:13Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you coming up the next time
- 12:14Speaker 1: and two about for folks at are prospective pet parents
- 12:17Speaker 1: and pet families, is there a place to go where
- 12:21Speaker 1: you can maybe get to know different types of breeds
- 12:23Speaker 1: and different types of things. So I'm going to ask
- 12:25Speaker 1: you about that. We'll do that and take your phone
- 12:27Speaker 1: call next as Ask the Experts with Doctor Marty Greer
- 12:30Speaker 1: and check Out Veterinary continues right here on thirteen ten
- 12:33Speaker 1: wuib I thirteen ten wu I b A and Ask
- 12:37Speaker 1: the Experts with Checkout Veterinary and studio. This morning, we've
- 12:40Speaker 1: got doctor Marty Greer recognized as Veterinarian of the Year
- 12:43Speaker 1: from Westminster Kennel Club. Of course, doctor Gary does come
- 12:46Speaker 1: to us from Checkout Veterinary their website check out vet
- 12:49Speaker 1: dot com. That's check out vet dot com. Flee and Ticks,
- 12:52Speaker 1: we are definitely into that season for sure, and in
- 12:55Speaker 1: Wisconsin it's correct me.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Everyone kind of a year round thing now right. We've
- 12:58Speaker 2: got to be prepared.
- 12:59Speaker 3: It is because even a forty degree afternoon in January
- 13:02Speaker 3: can make the ticks move, or if a rabbit dies
- 13:04Speaker 3: out in your yard and your dog goes out in
- 13:06Speaker 3: February and rolls around on it. Yeah, the fleas are
- 13:08Speaker 3: coming in. They like that little warm body that your
- 13:11Speaker 3: dog has.
- 13:12Speaker 2: They'll hop hop a right in. Why do dogs do that,
- 13:14Speaker 2: by the way.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Because they because they do, because they like to, because
- 13:20Speaker 3: they can't. I don't know.
- 13:21Speaker 2: That's probably the best reason of all.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And so with the fleeing tick, obviously you can get
- 13:28Speaker 1: at the vet clinic, right you picked that up there. Yes,
- 13:30Speaker 1: are there online options because I've seen and I don't
- 13:33Speaker 1: know are they Are they the same? Like I'll see
- 13:35Speaker 1: like the Big A to Z company with the trucks
- 13:38Speaker 1: all over the place.
- 13:39Speaker 2: I feel like they've got like a flea and tick
- 13:41Speaker 2: and I feel like I've seen that is are like
- 13:43Speaker 2: they all created equal or.
- 13:45Speaker 3: No, they're not. The heart room preventives are all by prescriptions,
- 13:48Speaker 3: so you have to have a veterinarians prescription for those,
- 13:50Speaker 3: and they recommend a heart room test before the flea
- 13:53Speaker 3: and tick meds. About half are over the counter, about
- 13:55Speaker 3: half our prescription. The orals are all by prescription, so
- 13:59Speaker 3: that's Vecto, next guard Cordelia, and Simperica. Those are all prescription.
- 14:03Speaker 3: There are topicals that are over the counter, but the
- 14:06Speaker 3: safer ones are actually from the veterinarian. Vectra three D
- 14:10Speaker 3: is an amazing product. It has three products in it
- 14:12Speaker 3: to help as a repellent as well as to kill
- 14:15Speaker 3: the fleas and ticks. So there's some good ones out there,
- 14:17Speaker 3: so speak to your veterinarian. Cheaper isn't better, and over
- 14:21Speaker 3: the counter doesn't mean safer, so check with your vet.
- 14:23Speaker 3: We all have great rebates. The more you buy, of course,
- 14:26Speaker 3: the bigger the rebate, so you can come up with
- 14:28Speaker 3: some really great pricing. And all of the veterinary clinics
- 14:31Speaker 3: that I know also have an online store, so we
- 14:34Speaker 3: do it Veterinary Village. We do it check in and
- 14:36Speaker 3: check out at Marshall, so you can go to our
- 14:38Speaker 3: online store, sign up, put in your name, your information,
- 14:42Speaker 3: and then if you need medication, go on there, hop
- 14:44Speaker 3: on the website, order it and then the veterinarian that
- 14:47Speaker 3: you go to will approve it. For instance, the other
- 14:50Speaker 3: day I started a cat on Bexa cat, which is
- 14:52Speaker 3: an oral drug for diabetic cats. We don't have one
- 14:55Speaker 3: for dogs, just for cats. And it was actually fifteen
- 14:59Speaker 3: dollars a month, less expensive from our store than it
- 15:02Speaker 3: was from anyplace else online so don't assume that your
- 15:05Speaker 3: veterinarian is going to charge you more. Assume that your
- 15:07Speaker 3: veterinarian knows your pet and knows their entire medical history
- 15:12Speaker 3: and can put together a treatment care plan that's most suitable,
- 15:14Speaker 3: because if you don't know the whole story, you may
- 15:16Speaker 3: make a mistake on the drug you pick.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I love the perspective any I think that's something a
- 15:20Speaker 1: lot of folks don't always think about. Of course, we've
- 15:22Speaker 1: got doctor Greer in studio as we do each and
- 15:25Speaker 1: every Thursday. Don't forget if you miss part of the program,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you can listen back at WIBA dot com.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Let your friends know as well.
- 15:31Speaker 1: If you haven't been to check out vet, definitely learn
- 15:33Speaker 1: more online or get on in. They'd love to see
- 15:35Speaker 1: the website. Checkout vet dot com. That's checkout vet dot
- 15:38Speaker 1: com open seven days a week, Monday through Monday from
- 15:41Speaker 1: nine am until five pm. At first visit an exam.
- 15:44Speaker 1: It is free and doctor before we wrap this week,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and this maybe something we probably want to carry over
- 15:48Speaker 1: to a whole other show for folks looking to get
- 15:51Speaker 1: to get a you know, bring a new family member in.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Is there like a place to go to like learn
- 15:57Speaker 1: about different maybe first hand experience actually see some dog Like,
- 16:01Speaker 1: is there a place where folks could be looking to
- 16:03Speaker 1: kind of get get familiar with some of the different
- 16:05Speaker 1: breeds there are?
- 16:06Speaker 3: And there's some great dog shows coming up. So we
- 16:09Speaker 3: have one in Manitu Walk pretty soon. There's one in
- 16:11Speaker 3: Gray's Lake, Illinois coming up in June. We have just
- 16:15Speaker 3: had some shows, but Jefferson is coming up this weekend,
- 16:18Speaker 3: so Jefferson's pretty close by. We have, like I said,
- 16:21Speaker 3: Kella Moraine and Walk a shot in June and July.
- 16:24Speaker 3: So if you take a look at dog shows in Wisconsin,
- 16:26Speaker 3: you can go to AKC Calendar of Events and then
- 16:28Speaker 3: put in the state and it'll list all the dog
- 16:31Speaker 3: shows and you can then look up the show schedule
- 16:33Speaker 3: and figure out what time the breeds you're going to
- 16:35Speaker 3: want to see will be there, go talk to the breeders,
- 16:37Speaker 3: meet some dogs, and yes, we definitely need to go
- 16:40Speaker 3: into more detail on this.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well definitely.
- 16:41Speaker 1: One thing I do know, and I'm guilty of this,
- 16:44Speaker 1: and I think I've told you off air, I've got
- 16:46Speaker 1: to avoid this. People love talking about their pets. So,
- 16:49Speaker 1: like you know, you go to one of these dog shows,
- 16:52Speaker 1: these folks will definitely love to tell you right, but you.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Can see them, you can see how they act. It's
- 16:57Speaker 3: just a lot nicer to see it in person than
- 16:59Speaker 3: it is. Try and figure it out online.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Now.
- 17:01Speaker 3: AKC has a great website. There's a lot of one
- 17:03Speaker 3: you know, good ones out there, but nothing is as
- 17:05Speaker 3: good as being able to see, touch, feel, and really
- 17:09Speaker 3: understand the behavior of that dog.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That is that is really cool.
- 17:12Speaker 1: And of course, as doctor mentioned, AKC they've got a
- 17:15Speaker 1: listing each each stadia and check that out. Of course,
- 17:17Speaker 1: speaking of getting online the website, checkout vet dot com.
