- 0:00Speaker 1: Mr.
- 0:00Speaker 2: New York, Mark Simone on 710WOR.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Well, hey, you know, every year, every presidential year, every
- 0:13Speaker 3: four years, there's a presidential race. And, of course, each
- 0:15Speaker 3: party has its convention, you know, the big convention, Democratic Convention,
- 0:20Speaker 3: Republican Convention. So this year is an off year. It's midterms.
- 0:26Speaker 3: But the Republicans, I guess President Trump came up with this.
- 0:29Speaker 3: They decided to have a midterm convention. It's just like
- 0:32Speaker 3: in a presidential year. They have a big convention. This
- 0:35Speaker 3: is going to be in Dallas. Is it next week?
- 0:38Speaker 3: I think it's this coming week. September 9th to the 10th. Yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 3: in Dallas. So that would be next week. Now, the
- 0:46Speaker 3: problem is, apparently, a lot of the Republicans in Congress
- 0:51Speaker 3: aren't going to go to this midterm convention. They did
- 0:54Speaker 3: a survey of 70. Republican House members, 45, said they
- 0:59Speaker 3: will skip the event. So that's the majority of them
- 1:02Speaker 3: skipping it. They said it's a little disorganized and they
- 1:07Speaker 3: don't want to go. So it'll be next week. You'll
- 1:10Speaker 3: see some good speeches there. The president will go. He'll
- 1:13Speaker 3: make some major names, make sure they show up. But
- 1:18Speaker 3: it may not be the big event it's supposed to be.
- 1:22Speaker 1: So.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Iran, we hit them hard overnight. We'll probably continue to
- 1:28Speaker 3: do that the rest of the week. Scott Besant hitting
- 1:33Speaker 3: them very hard economically, just draining them financially. And whatever
- 1:38Speaker 3: they got snuck away in some Swiss bank account or somewhere,
- 1:44Speaker 3: Besant is going after it, and he'll get it. We're
- 1:47Speaker 3: also continuing the war. With Canada. It's not really a war.
- 1:51Speaker 3: It's just love trolling them, tweaking them. They got this premier,
- 1:58Speaker 3: prime minister, Carney, prime minister Carney, lashing out.
- 2:03Speaker 5: And when the Americans stop doing memes, stop throwing shade,
- 2:08Speaker 5: stop trying to be tough, and start being serious about
- 2:12Speaker 5: having those discussions, we can have those discussions.
- 2:14Speaker 3: But look, it's not constructive, but that's their democracy. All right,
- 2:19Speaker 3: he's not exactly Churchill, but what do you want? It's Canada. So, hey,
- 2:25Speaker 3: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, they've gone back to England. They,
- 2:31Speaker 3: you know, set up in Montecito, California in a big mansion,
- 2:35Speaker 3: ready to make a fortune, ready to become bigger than
- 2:38Speaker 3: the Kardashians. And they got a couple of deals, Netflix
- 2:42Speaker 3: and Spotify, and they totally bombed out. And that was
- 2:45Speaker 3: the end of it. And a couple of years have
- 2:46Speaker 3: gone by and they can't get anything going. Nothing. So
- 2:49Speaker 3: they're going back to England. Apparently, Meghan Markle is a
- 2:54Speaker 3: nightmare to deal with. King Charles may not be wrong
- 2:57Speaker 3: about her. That may be the reason that he's kind
- 3:01Speaker 3: of disowned his own son. Doesn't want anything to do
- 3:04Speaker 3: with him or Meghan Markle. Although apparently Camilla is trying
- 3:09Speaker 3: to maybe thaw the relationship a little. So they're going
- 3:13Speaker 3: to England. They're there. Uh, they arrived on a private jet,
- 3:17Speaker 3: spent a fortune on a private jet and then a
- 3:20Speaker 3: caravan of SUVs picked them up. They're looking for a house.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Meghan Markle, apparently driving the real estate people crazy. She
- 3:29Speaker 3: wants nine bedrooms. She must have nine bedrooms and it
- 3:32Speaker 3: must have a film studio in it or at least something,
- 3:37Speaker 3: a building on the grounds or something where they could
- 3:39Speaker 3: build a film studio, uh, Apparently in Montecito, they also
- 3:44Speaker 3: have nine bedrooms and a film studio. That place costs
- 3:48Speaker 3: $ 15 million. She wants this film studio because she thinks
- 3:52Speaker 3: she's going to have a big career media-wise and wants
- 3:56Speaker 3: to be able to produce everything at home. Listen, they
- 4:01Speaker 3: bombed out in California. I don't know what they're going
- 4:03Speaker 3: to get going in England. They need to hire staff, maids, servants, housekeepers.
- 4:09Speaker 3: But apparently she's a nightmare at that, too. described as
- 4:14Speaker 3: extremely rude. And in California, in the housekeeper community, she
- 4:22Speaker 3: was known for that. Word spread quickly. You might not
- 4:24Speaker 3: want to even go for an interview because you don't
- 4:27Speaker 3: want to work for this maniac, Meghan Markle. Apparently, the
- 4:31Speaker 3: interview process is you come in with your resume. You're told,
- 4:37Speaker 3: do not speak to her. Hand over your resume and
- 4:41Speaker 3: and then go stand off to the side of the room.
- 4:44Speaker 3: You are told not to speak to her. Do not
- 4:46Speaker 3: make eye contact. She will sit there and review your
- 4:50Speaker 3: resume and decide whether you're hired or not. You do
- 4:55Speaker 3: not speak to her. I mean, what a lunatic. It's
- 4:57Speaker 3: not like she's some big star. She was in the
- 4:59Speaker 3: show Suits. It's not like she starred in the show Suits.
- 5:03Speaker 3: She was like 15th billing in that show. Pretty much
- 5:08Speaker 3: a minor character in the show. She wasn't Harvey Specter.
- 5:12Speaker 3: speaking of TV shows, remember 30 Rock, the great show
- 5:15Speaker 3: 30 Rock, they're going to do a big reunion, a
- 5:18Speaker 3: 20th anniversary reunion, it'll take place at Radio City, Sunday,
- 5:24Speaker 3: October 11th, tickets will be available, I think you can
- 5:26Speaker 3: get them now, if you want to see this, the
- 5:29Speaker 3: whole cast will be back, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan,
- 5:35Speaker 3: the whole rest of the cast, they'll be there, and
- 5:38Speaker 3: I don't know exactly what they're going to do, but
- 5:39Speaker 3: it's on the stage of Radio City Music Hall. I
- 5:42Speaker 3: imagine the real point of this is to film the
- 5:44Speaker 3: whole thing and turn it into some sort of a
- 5:47Speaker 3: big Netflix special or streaming special. Or maybe NBC will
- 5:52Speaker 3: want to use it. But if you want to get tickets,
- 5:55Speaker 3: it's October 11th. Radio City Music Hall. Hey, speaking of
- 6:00Speaker 3: streaming and all of that, Apple TV just raised the
- 6:04Speaker 3: price again. You know, when Apple TV started, it was $ 4.
- 6:07Speaker 4: 99 a month.
- 6:10Speaker 3: That's about five years ago, six years ago. Well, all
- 6:12Speaker 3: of a sudden, it's $ 14. 99 a month. And all the
- 6:16Speaker 3: streaming services are driving people crazy, raising the price. Peacock
- 6:22Speaker 3: went from $ 10. 99 to $ 12.
- 6:22Speaker 6: 99.
- 6:22Speaker 3: It's a 27% hike. It's a lot to hike every year. Netflix,
- 6:30Speaker 3: everybody raising their prices. And we kept telling you this
- 6:35Speaker 3: all along, the reason people got rid of the cable
- 6:37Speaker 3: was is your cable bill was $ 50 a month, $ 40
- 6:40Speaker 3: a month. Next thing you know, it's $ 100 a month.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Next thing you know, it's $ 200 a month. It was crazy.
- 6:45Speaker 3: So people started cutting their cable service and going with
- 6:48Speaker 3: the streaming. But it's just a matter of time before
- 6:51Speaker 3: streaming gets you back up to $ 100, $ 200 a month
- 6:54Speaker 3: with all these different streaming services. Now, the only good
- 6:58Speaker 3: news is with cable, you can't eliminate all the channels
- 7:02Speaker 3: you don't want, but you can do it with streaming.
- 7:05Speaker 3: And more and more and more people are doing that.
- 7:09Speaker 3: So you're going to see a little rebellion against it.
- 7:10Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of free TV out there
- 7:12Speaker 3: that's great. YouTube, obviously. You can watch anything on YouTube.
- 7:16Speaker 3: And I love Pluto TV. Pluto TV. It's free. It's
- 7:21Speaker 3: got like 50 channels of television. And each show has
- 7:25Speaker 3: its own channel. There's a Blue Bloods channel. 24 hours
- 7:29Speaker 3: a day of Blue Bloods. There's a Columbo channel. 24
- 7:32Speaker 3: hours a day of Columbo. There's a channel like that
- 7:35Speaker 3: for about 75 different shows. Plus, they've got a lot
- 7:38Speaker 3: of movies. And it's free. They run a few commercials.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Not a lot. But it's free. Pluto TV. Tubi is
- 7:45Speaker 3: another one. T-U-B-I. Great free services out there. You don't
- 7:49Speaker 3: need to pay for all this streaming. Now, if you
- 7:52Speaker 3: like to spend a lot of money, if you like
- 7:53Speaker 3: to waste a ton of money, I've got the perfect
- 7:55Speaker 3: thing for you. It's called the U.S.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Open.
- 7:58Speaker 3: It's at Forest Hills. It's taking place right now. It
- 8:02Speaker 3: goes to September 13th. 256 of the world's finest tennis players.
- 8:08Speaker 3: It's three weeks. Arthur Ashe Stadium, which, by the way,
- 8:12Speaker 3: they just renovated. They spent $ 800 million renovating it. One
- 8:17Speaker 3: of the reasons they renovated it is to put more
- 8:18Speaker 3: of those private clubs in there, those suites. That's where
- 8:21Speaker 3: they make all the real money. And 2,000 new courtside seats.
- 8:26Speaker 3: $ 800 million in renovations, but they can make a ton
- 8:29Speaker 3: of money off this. And they charge a fortune for everything.
- 8:32Speaker 3: The drinks are a fortune. The food is a fortune.
- 8:35Speaker 3: But if you really want to spend some money, you
- 8:37Speaker 3: can get these packages. There's one with the Mark Hotel.
- 8:42Speaker 3: The Mark's a beautiful hotel up east side, diagonally across
- 8:46Speaker 3: from the Carlisle. The Mark Hotel has a special package, U.S.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Open package. If you want to sign up for this,
- 8:53Speaker 3: it's $ 500, 000. The Grand Slam Extravaganza. which includes a four-night
- 9:01Speaker 3: stay for six guests in the Mark Penthouse. Okay, so
- 9:05Speaker 3: that brings it down to, what, 80,000 a person? You
- 9:10Speaker 3: can stay in the Penthouse. It is actually the largest
- 9:12Speaker 3: penthouse in the United States. You get six premium tickets
- 9:16Speaker 3: to the men's semifinals and final. You get a private
- 9:20Speaker 3: lesson with John McEnroe. What the hell is John McEnroe
- 9:25Speaker 3: sinking to with this private lesson? Guests will enjoy it.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Private sail aboard the Mark 70-foot sailboat. Caviar service. Bespoke
- 9:34Speaker 3: menus from the Mark restaurant. A very good restaurant in
- 9:38Speaker 3: the Mark by John George. And there's a caviar restaurant
- 9:41Speaker 3: on the other side. Private chauffeur service. Okay, this is $ 500, 000.
- 9:46Speaker 3: If you want to do this, go to the U.S. Open.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I can't even watch the U.S.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Open.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I don't. I mean, I'm not a big tennis fan.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Every player has got these names. I don't know who
- 9:57Speaker 3: the hell all these players are. You want something cheaper?
- 10:01Speaker 3: The Latte Hotel, which used to be called the Palace
- 10:05Speaker 3: next to St. Patrick's. They got a $ 100, 000 package. You
- 10:10Speaker 3: get a two-night stay, 5,000-square-foot penthouse. You get four tickets,
- 10:15Speaker 3: four guests. You also get a $ 62, 000 12-cut diamond tennis bracelet.
- 10:23Speaker 3: How many people spend this on this stuff? You want
- 10:26Speaker 3: to bargain? The Ritz-Carlton. Ooh, and Nomad. They got a
- 10:30Speaker 3: $ 20, 000 package. Two-night stay in the penthouse. Honey deuce cocktails. Remember,
- 10:36Speaker 3: that was the big thing last year. Dinner for two
- 10:39Speaker 3: at Dahlia's Garden and Terrace. And a massage.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Okay.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Okay.
- 10:45Speaker 3: It's only 29,000. That's the bargain package for you cheapskates
- 10:50Speaker 3: out there. Hey, in Michigan, you got the... Now, when
- 10:53Speaker 3: it comes to these primaries, Michigan's important because it's a
- 10:59Speaker 3: Democratic seat. It's currently a Democratic seat. The Democrat who
- 11:03Speaker 3: holds it is retiring, so it becomes an open seat.
- 11:06Speaker 3: So if they lose, it doesn't really affect the balance
- 11:09Speaker 3: in the Senate. But if they win, Republicans pick up
- 11:12Speaker 3: a seat. So it's important. And you got that crazy
- 11:15Speaker 3: El-Sayed running, the anti-Semite who's been hanging around with this
- 11:21Speaker 3: awful anti-Semite, Hassan Piker. But apparently El-Sayed is trying to
- 11:27Speaker 3: make peace with the Jewish Democrats. Not going to be
- 11:31Speaker 3: easy to do because he refuses to denounce Hassan Piker.
- 11:36Speaker 3: He distances himself, but he won't denounce him for his
- 11:40Speaker 3: crazy anti-Semitic stuff. So Piker, if he's doing that, trying
- 11:46Speaker 3: to go after the Jewish community, trying to make peace,
- 11:49Speaker 3: means his internal polling is not looking great. Not looking great. Hey,
- 11:55Speaker 3: there was to be a government shutdown, but they've avoided that.
- 11:58Speaker 3: A bill was passed to keep the government open through
- 12:02Speaker 3: the midterms. Here's Mike Johnson.
- 12:04Speaker 7: House Republicans are in charge here, and we're continuing to
- 12:06Speaker 7: do the grown-up thing, and make sure we get the
- 12:08Speaker 7: job done. And we're happy that we just passed that
- 12:10Speaker 7: continued resolution to find the government through early December, and
- 12:14Speaker 7: they will continue through the process after the election.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so, yeah, must keep the government open. Except tomorrow
- 12:22Speaker 3: it's going to shut down for about five days because
- 12:24Speaker 3: it's Labor Day weekend. They all go away for the weekend.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I am too, kind of. But, listen, there's a government
- 12:30Speaker 3: shutdown every Friday night until Monday morning. You can survive
- 12:34Speaker 3: these government shutdowns. Hey, Dolly Parton, you remember, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 3: she grew up in a cottage and she owned a
- 12:40Speaker 3: small cottage in California, right down the road from Michael
- 12:45Speaker 3: Jackson's Neverland Ranch. It's a small cottage. She owned a
- 12:48Speaker 3: lot of real estate all over the place, but apparently
- 12:50Speaker 3: a lot of interest in that cottage. And there's a
- 12:54Speaker 3: flurry of buyers showing up, want Dolly Parton's cottage. A
- 12:58Speaker 3: lot of real estate. She had an apartment here in
- 12:59Speaker 3: New York, uh, 800 Fifth Avenue, a nice apartment. And, uh, Yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 3: and a lot of interest in her. Her music still
- 13:10Speaker 3: continues to top the charts for the last week or
- 13:14Speaker 3: so since her death. Hey, Massachusetts primary, Ed Markey won
- 13:18Speaker 3: last night, 80 years old. Now, he's a youngster in Massachusetts.
- 13:22Speaker 3: You know, in New England, they got Bernie Sanders, who's 90.
- 13:25Speaker 3: They got Elizabeth Warren, who's 80. So this kid, Markey,
- 13:29Speaker 3: 80 years old, won. It's good news, just overall. I mean,
- 13:32Speaker 3: he's not, you know, he's a Democrat, but... The good
- 13:35Speaker 3: news is he defeated one of these crazy Democrats. So
- 13:38Speaker 3: he's an old-fashioned sort of a Bill Clinton-type Democrat defeating
- 13:43Speaker 3: the young crazy. So that's a good thing. Hey, we'll
- 13:46Speaker 3: take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number. I always
- 13:51Speaker 3: like to have some new callers. If you never called before,
- 13:54Speaker 3: call us.
- 13:55Speaker 6: 800-321-0710.
- 13:56Speaker 3: 3-2-1-0-7-10. Now, much more Mark.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Mark Simone. Now, 9 till noon weekdays. On 710WOR.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Well, you know, one of those morning show regulars, Katty
- 14:14Speaker 3: Kay from the BBC, has been reprimanded by the BBC.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Even the left-wing BBC reprimanding her For her anti-Israel nonsense,
- 14:27Speaker 3: apparently she referred to the genocide that was being committed
- 14:32Speaker 3: in Gaza during a podcast appearance. But good for the BBC,
- 14:38Speaker 3: usually way to the left. But they've actually told her
- 14:41Speaker 3: that she is officially reprimanded. She's a, you know, get
- 14:44Speaker 3: away with that crap on Morning Joe. But it's not
- 14:47Speaker 3: up to, as the BBC says, not up to their standards.
- 14:52Speaker 3: She said it on, she has a podcast with... Remember
- 14:55Speaker 3: Anthony Scaramucci, the two of them, one of these amateur podcasts. Scaramucci,
- 15:03Speaker 3: great financially, but always, always desperately trying to be some
- 15:06Speaker 3: kind of media figure. And again, everybody has a podcast.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Every amateur now has a podcast. Your dentist has a podcast.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Your accountant has a podcast. Let's take some calls. Let's
- 15:18Speaker 3: go to Allie in Philadelphia. Allie, how are you doing?
- 15:22Speaker 8: Good morning, Mark. Alice from Philadelphia. Long time listener. Mark,
- 15:28Speaker 8: I want to comment on the Elizabeth Smart situation. They're
- 15:33Speaker 8: trying to make her a heroine. That girl was able
- 15:37Speaker 8: to leave for the seven months that she had been kidnapped.
- 15:41Speaker 8: But she stayed with that group. And we were in
- 15:45Speaker 8: Utah when all of this had just happened. And they
- 15:49Speaker 8: said the family took in vagrants. And that's who kidnapped her.
- 15:54Speaker 8: So I don't really feel like she's a heroine, but
- 15:57Speaker 8: I keep hearing it advertised, this girl was wonderful. What's
- 16:02Speaker 8: your comment?
- 16:03Speaker 3: I don't know. You're probably right. What were you doing
- 16:06Speaker 3: in Utah?
- 16:08Speaker 8: Oh, we were visiting the center where they have the,
- 16:14Speaker 8: oh my goodness, Utah's a beautiful city, and we happened
- 16:19Speaker 8: to be there.
- 16:20Speaker 3: All right. Doesn't sound like the most perfect vacation, but okay.
- 16:24Speaker 3: But if you live in Philadelphia, I guess Utah looks beautiful.
- 16:27Speaker 3: But no, we love Philadelphia. Let's go to Abe in Suffern. Abe,
- 16:31Speaker 3: how are you doing?
- 16:33Speaker 4: Well, the man that's running in Michigan for Senate, Abdul Saeed,
- 16:37Speaker 4: he's lying. He's not a doctor. He keeps saying that
- 16:40Speaker 4: he's a physician, but he's not a licensed physician anyway.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Why does the media keep doing this?
- 16:45Speaker 3: He's technically a doctor. He doesn't practice as a doctor,
- 16:47Speaker 3: but he actually is a doctor.
- 16:50Speaker 4: He never got a license. He never passed the exam.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I don't think you're following this. He's not a practicing physician,
- 16:55Speaker 3: but he is a doctor. He never. You can't argue
- 17:00Speaker 3: with these people. That's what I always tell you. Don't
- 17:02Speaker 3: argue about politics with anybody. He's technically a doctor. He's
- 17:05Speaker 3: not a physician treating patients, but he is a doctor.
- 17:08Speaker 3: I hate to break it to you. Jill Biden is
- 17:10Speaker 3: technically a doctor. She can use that title. Even though
- 17:13Speaker 3: she's an English teacher at a community college, she can
- 17:17Speaker 3: call herself doctor and he can call himself doctor. Let's
- 17:20Speaker 3: go to Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe, how are you doing?
- 17:25Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark.
- 17:26Speaker 6: I want to change the gears over here.
- 17:27Speaker 1: How come nobody's protesting about taking the statue down Stonewall, Jackson?
- 17:32Speaker 1: He helped the slaves after the war.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Where's the statue? Where's the statue?
- 17:38Speaker 6: It was in Richmond, Virginia.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Oh, well, that's probably why nobody's protesting here. Yeah.
- 17:44Speaker 8: Nobody's protesting about it.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I thought Trump says hands off the statues.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's Stonewall Jackson. You know, it's not a name.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Robert E. Lee, maybe you go out there because we
- 17:53Speaker 3: all know the name. Stonewall Jackson, I hate to break
- 17:55Speaker 3: it to you. It's kind of forgotten about. Yeah, well.
- 18:01Speaker 3: People get themselves riled up about anything here. Let's go
- 18:04Speaker 3: to Nolan in New Jersey. Nolan, how you doing?
- 18:08Speaker 1: I'm good, Mark.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I don't know if you had a chance to watch
- 18:10Speaker 1: The Five last night. I was a little disappointed in
- 18:13Speaker 1: Jesse Waters. He had some suggestions for the cops. that
- 18:18Speaker 1: they could save the woman in Times Square by using
- 18:21Speaker 1: a Spider-Man type net or approaching her from behind and
- 18:25Speaker 1: trying to pistol whip her. I've got to say, I'm
- 18:28Speaker 1: really disappointed.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Maybe he was just trying to be funny. Spider-Man net.
- 18:34Speaker 1: He could be a little bizarre at times.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Well, it's a sense of humor. The Five's a great show.
- 18:40Speaker 3: The cops in Times Square with that crazy lunatic, they
- 18:43Speaker 3: tried the tasers. Kept shooting her with tasers, but she
- 18:46Speaker 3: had her purse in front of her. One hit the purse.
- 18:49Speaker 3: And the ones that hit her, as we discussed earlier,
- 18:52Speaker 3: apparently if you're really fat, the taser is not effective.
- 18:56Speaker 3: The taser has to hit your muscle to do something.
- 18:59Speaker 3: And if you got inches of fat, if you're really fat,
- 19:03Speaker 3: the taser will not get to the muscle. So it
- 19:06Speaker 3: would not be as effective. And that's the problem they
- 19:08Speaker 3: had there. Let's go to Dan in Queens. Dan, how
- 19:12Speaker 3: you doing?
- 19:13Speaker 4: Good, thank you. Listening to Liz speak, Bruce Blakeman could
- 19:17Speaker 4: do a commercial saying that Poco killed more jobs in
- 19:21Speaker 4: New York State with no fracking, no gas drilling on
- 19:24Speaker 4: the largest reserves, no AI data centers. Well, he has
- 19:30Speaker 4: been doing it.
- 19:31Speaker 3: He has been running those commercials. You follow him on Instagram?
- 19:37Speaker 6: No, I don't.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Oh, that's why you got to... Commercials don't go on
- 19:41Speaker 3: TV anymore. They go on social. If you put it
- 19:45Speaker 3: on Channel 5, a few hundred thousand people see it.
- 19:49Speaker 3: On his social media, I think he got 62 million
- 19:52Speaker 3: views last month. So that's where all the action is.
- 19:56Speaker 3: In fact, check out Bruce Blakeman's Instagram or Twitter or
- 20:02Speaker 3: TikTok or any of that. But he's got great stuff
- 20:04Speaker 3: up there. Great videos of Hochul. There's Hijab Hochul. I
- 20:09Speaker 3: think that's up there now. Boy, there's a lot of
- 20:11Speaker 3: great stuff. But that's where all the action takes place
- 20:14Speaker 3: in political campaigns. Running a TV commercial really doesn't reach
- 20:18Speaker 3: a lot of people. Running a radio commercial still reaches
- 20:22Speaker 3: a lot of people, much more than television will. But
- 20:25Speaker 3: the big action is Instagram, TikTok, and all that. Blakeman's
- 20:28Speaker 3: been campaigning like crazy. And this isn't the campaign yet.
- 20:32Speaker 3: You know, it really doesn't heat up until after everybody's
- 20:35Speaker 3: back from Labor Day. That's where it really begins. Let's
- 20:38Speaker 3: go to Bob in, is it North Carolina, Bob?
- 20:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. Hey, Mark, how you doing?
- 20:44Speaker 3: Good.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Long-time listener, first-time caller. I just wanted to tell you
- 20:48Speaker 4: I love your show. I retired on Monday, so now
- 20:52Speaker 4: I can listen to you every day. But the only
- 20:54Speaker 4: gripe I have is I love your show, but you
- 20:57Speaker 4: started taking off on Fridays, and I have a problem
- 20:59Speaker 4: with that.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Well, that's just in the summer, and I hate to
- 21:02Speaker 3: break it to you. It's Wednesday. I'm taking off tomorrow
- 21:05Speaker 3: and Friday, two days. Oh, you are?
- 21:07Speaker 4: Okay, well, I just want to tell you, I started
- 21:10Speaker 4: walking a lot, and I listen to you, and it
- 21:12Speaker 4: makes the walk go by a lot quicker.
- 21:14Speaker 3: All right, but after Labor Day, no more Fridays off
- 21:17Speaker 3: after Labor Day. Then it's five days a week.
- 21:19Speaker 4: That's good. I'll work into the rotation, and I really
- 21:21Speaker 4: appreciate it.
- 21:22Speaker 3: I take Fridays off instead of taking a week off,
- 21:25Speaker 3: instead of taking two weeks.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Yeah, that works. Well, I'm off all the time now, man.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I'm retiring as of... Monday, I'm 60. Good health. Decided
- 21:33Speaker 4: to just retire and live the rest of my life, man.
- 21:36Speaker 3: No, you do fine. All right. Stay out of trouble, Peter. Yes, sir.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Take care. Yeah, that's why I take Fridays off in
- 21:43Speaker 3: the summer. I don't like to take a week off here.
- 21:46Speaker 3: It's a whole week. It's better to just take a
- 21:48Speaker 3: bunch of Fridays off.
- 21:49Speaker 4: I know.
- 21:50Speaker 3: It happened the other day. I took the Friday off,
- 21:52Speaker 3: and I'm walking around. I was in Long Island, actually.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I was walking around Garden City, and a guy comes
- 21:57Speaker 3: up to me and goes, I wake up every morning
- 21:59Speaker 3: to listen to you. You're not there. You're just walking around.
- 22:02Speaker 3: You're not doing anything.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Get to work.
- 22:04Speaker 3: So after Labor Day, it's back to five days a week. Hey,
- 22:08Speaker 3: when we come back, Ann Coulter will be with us next.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Lots to talk to her about in just a moment
- 22:13Speaker 3: on 710WOR.
- 22:15Speaker 2: It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Well, Ann Coulter, the best-selling author, the great columnist, and
- 22:26Speaker 3: now Rumble star. Make sure you watch her Rumble channel
- 22:30Speaker 3: and follow her on Twitter. And, of course, Substack. She's
- 22:33Speaker 3: got videos and podcasts and all sorts of stuff. AnnCoulter.substack.com.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Ann Coulter, how are you doing?
- 22:41Speaker 4: Fantastic.
- 22:43Speaker 6: How are you, Mark Simone?
- 22:44Speaker 3: I'm good. Summer's almost over. Aren't you sad about that?
- 22:48Speaker 6: Yes, of course I am. I have to get back
- 22:50Speaker 6: to work.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Now, midterms, what do you think? How does it look?
- 22:57Speaker 6: You probably don't want to ask me that. I think
- 23:00Speaker 6: it looks like a complete wipeout for Republicans. This Iran
- 23:04Speaker 6: war has long, long tentacles, and the gas price has
- 23:11Speaker 6: gone up. I mean, it's great that we're trying to
- 23:13Speaker 6: get Venezuela's gas now, but at the moment, if you
- 23:16Speaker 6: had to bet, it's just going to be a bloodbath
- 23:20Speaker 6: for Republicans. I just don't understand why Trump does not
- 23:26Speaker 6: run or do the things he ran on. His main
- 23:29Speaker 6: issue was immigration. To this day, his most popular issue
- 23:33Speaker 6: is immigration, and he is underwater on every single issue,
- 23:37Speaker 6: including the issues Republicans usually crush on, like the economy. And,
- 23:41Speaker 6: of course, least of all popular is the Iran war.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Well, the economy's in pretty good shape by every metric. Immigration,
- 23:48Speaker 3: he's been... of arresting people like ICE has been doing
- 23:51Speaker 3: a great job. Wouldn't you agree on that?
- 23:54Speaker 6: Well, I do, but I think what happens is, as
- 23:57Speaker 6: long as, I mean, anything he does on immigration, and
- 24:00Speaker 6: it does seem that Stephen Miller has been a careful
- 24:05Speaker 6: steward of what is going on, the more they can do,
- 24:09Speaker 6: the better. But what happens in these polls is, if
- 24:12Speaker 6: you're mad about one thing, if you're mad about the president,
- 24:16Speaker 6: It just colors your opinion of everything else, so it
- 24:19Speaker 6: drags all the categories down. That's why it's striking that
- 24:23Speaker 6: the single most unpopular issue is, of course, the Iran war.
- 24:28Speaker 6: And Americans overwhelmingly want to just wrap it up quickly.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 6: Clear victory and move out.
- 24:35Speaker 3: That's if you look at the media polls and those
- 24:38Speaker 3: college polls. But if you look at the real internals,
- 24:42Speaker 3: Iran comes up like number 15 on issues for most
- 24:45Speaker 3: americans it's.
- 24:47Speaker 6: Internal polls are famously non-sense.
- 24:50Speaker 3: No they're pretty good but uh.
- 24:52Speaker 6: daniel store and i believe nate silver i'm definitely nate
- 24:56Speaker 6: silver point out that the quote internal polls uh... are
- 25:00Speaker 6: often done to please the boss and if there's any
- 25:03Speaker 6: boss who needs to be pleased uh... you can twist
- 25:06Speaker 6: them you can manipulate them there are a million different
- 25:08Speaker 6: polls and iran has just i mean especially with democrats
- 25:13Speaker 6: and independents you're right about that But even among Republicans,
- 25:17Speaker 6: 40 percent, yes, just Republicans. And that's people who are
- 25:21Speaker 6: still calling themselves Republicans. Slight majority say, yes, Iran's going great.
- 25:28Speaker 6: Forty percent say, no, please wrap it up, please wrap
- 25:31Speaker 6: it up. And like I say, that pulls down everything else.
- 25:33Speaker 6: The gas prices, that is, oh, my gosh, that's going
- 25:36Speaker 6: to kill Republicans. It's going to kill them. Let's hope
- 25:40Speaker 6: the Venezuelan oil does something.
- 25:44Speaker 3: I think you might be a little too worried about it.
- 25:47Speaker 3: First of all, gas prices aren't that high. They're high
- 25:49Speaker 3: in New York, but it has nothing to do with Iran.
- 25:52Speaker 3: They're high in California. It has nothing to do with Iran.
- 25:54Speaker 3: But they're pretty low around the country. They're averaging around
- 25:57Speaker 3: $ 3. 50 now. That's not that bad.
- 26:00Speaker 6: Mark Simone, you know I love you, but this is
- 26:03Speaker 6: like the Biden administration and MSNBC trying to convince people, no,
- 26:09Speaker 6: the economy is great. No, I mean, you can look
- 26:12Speaker 6: at a chart. Since the Iran war, gas prices have
- 26:16Speaker 6: been substantially higher, and they haven't come back down. And yes, okay,
- 26:21Speaker 6: you can compare it. Oh, did you complain under Biden? Yes,
- 26:23Speaker 6: we did complain under Biden.
- 26:25Speaker 3: That has nothing to do with Biden.
- 26:26Speaker 6: Starting a war. It was when Russia invaded Ukraine. There
- 26:30Speaker 6: was a spike in gas prices here.
- 26:32Speaker 3: We've had a rise.
- 26:33Speaker 6: Not that Biden did, and we still blame him.
- 26:35Speaker 3: We've had a rise, but not a spike, and the
- 26:36Speaker 3: numbers are nowhere near Biden's gas prices. Not even close.
- 26:41Speaker 6: That was very brief. Look, I don't want this to
- 26:45Speaker 6: be the case because, I mean, the problem is, you know,
- 26:49Speaker 6: Democrats will get in, they'll run on stuff that they
- 26:52Speaker 6: know is more popular and the issues that are less
- 26:57Speaker 6: popular with concerning Trump, but then they're going to get
- 27:03Speaker 6: in And it's not going to be anything they ran on.
- 27:06Speaker 6: It's going to be, you know, like wrapping up the
- 27:08Speaker 6: Iran war. It's going to be pedal to the metal
- 27:11Speaker 6: for DEI stuff. Oh, my gosh. It'll be a disaster.
- 27:16Speaker 6: Nothing they actually ran on will come true. It'll be
- 27:19Speaker 6: all the things that they're afraid to run on because
- 27:22Speaker 6: they are so unpopular on.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Well, we'll see. I think you'll be quite surprised in November.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Even here in New York.
- 27:29Speaker 6: I hope so.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Where I think Bruce Blakeman will win. You'll be quite surprised.
- 27:34Speaker 3: And the good news with that Mamdani, like a lot
- 27:36Speaker 3: of these socialists, everything he proposes, he never does anything.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Nothing ever actually happens. He gets nothing done.
- 27:44Speaker 6: Oh, I wish.
- 27:46Speaker 3: He gets nothing done.
- 27:46Speaker 6: That's what I loved about Black Lives Matter. Go ahead,
- 27:49Speaker 6: spend it on mansions.
- 27:50Speaker 1: It's fantastic.
- 27:51Speaker 6: Please don't do anything.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Well, Mamdani, his daycare centers aren't funded. There's no grocery
- 27:59Speaker 3: stores that are ever going to be built. The pied-à-terre
- 28:01Speaker 3: tax will never happen.
- 28:04Speaker 6: I hope you're right about that. I don't know why
- 28:06Speaker 6: you think that now. I certainly hope you're right about
- 28:10Speaker 6: that because it's real. That will be such a disaster
- 28:14Speaker 6: for New York. I'm sure you've talked about this and
- 28:17Speaker 6: your listeners have thought about it until they're blue in
- 28:20Speaker 6: the face. But all of this pointless rearranging where massively
- 28:24Speaker 6: wealthy people... There was just an article, I think, in
- 28:27Speaker 6: the New York Times about this yesterday. Massively wealthy people
- 28:30Speaker 6: are just going to rent now. Because if you don't
- 28:33Speaker 6: own it, it's not a pied-a-terre. They'll rent, and they'll
- 28:40Speaker 6: rent out their gigantic apartments. Rental prices are about to
- 28:45Speaker 6: go through the roof. Sale prices are collapsing.
- 28:48Speaker 3: And for no reason.
- 28:49Speaker 6: It's utterly artificial.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Not in New York. Sale prices were actually up over
- 28:53Speaker 3: last year. High-end sales are up over last year. Numbers
- 28:57Speaker 3: are pretty interesting. Everything is up over last year. Even
- 28:59Speaker 3: commercial leasing is through the roof right now.
- 29:02Speaker 6: Well, it's not commercial leasing I'm worried about. And I
- 29:06Speaker 6: know real estate brokers always tell me that no sales
- 29:09Speaker 6: are going through the roof. But not when this Pieta
- 29:12Speaker 6: tear tax starts being enforced. I mean, maybe it's only
- 29:15Speaker 6: a few people at the very high end who are
- 29:17Speaker 6: worried about it. But talk to accountants. Talk to the
- 29:23Speaker 6: accountants of really rich people. They're all scrambling now to
- 29:27Speaker 6: figure out what they can do.
- 29:29Speaker 3: You'll never see the Piedra Terra tax, even the rollout,
- 29:32Speaker 3: completely bungled and bogged.
- 29:33Speaker 6: Oh, I hope you're right. It's so stupid. It's going
- 29:36Speaker 6: to be so bad for housing in New York and
- 29:38Speaker 6: for New York City. I mean, even if all you
- 29:40Speaker 6: care about is all the stupid social programs that I'd
- 29:43Speaker 6: eliminate across the board. New York Times did have an
- 29:46Speaker 6: article about this in the past week. New York needs
- 29:50Speaker 6: more millionaires. They need more multi-millionaires. And they have been fleeing, fleeing, fleeing.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Where.
- 29:58Speaker 6: Where does Albany and Mondami, where do they think the
- 30:01Speaker 6: money comes from? But they keep driving out the golden goose,
- 30:07Speaker 6: and boy, is the Pieta terror tax a good way
- 30:09Speaker 6: to do it.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Now, why do you keep reading the New York Times?
- 30:14Speaker 6: Because it's the most articulate expression of liberal opinion. Whereas
- 30:19Speaker 6: I watch MS Now, I can't get out of calling
- 30:22Speaker 6: it MSNBC, MSNOW, that is the most comedic version of
- 30:27Speaker 6: liberal opinion.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I like calling it MSNBC. It's still the
- 30:32Speaker 3: 59th Street Bridge. Nobody calls it the Ed Koch Bridge,
- 30:35Speaker 3: although we love it.
- 30:36Speaker 6: Oh, that's hilarious. I didn't even know it was supposed
- 30:37Speaker 6: to be the Ed Koch Bridge.
- 30:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 6: Anyway, I really hate that. Any of your listeners outside
- 30:42Speaker 6: of New York probably do not care about this. But
- 30:44Speaker 6: all of these street names, you know, one of the
- 30:46Speaker 6: beauties of New York City, I was in Amsterdam and
- 30:49Speaker 6: London this summer. I could never find my way back
- 30:52Speaker 6: to my hotel because the streets are so, you know,
- 30:57Speaker 6: sort of confusing. And you don't even know what the
- 31:00Speaker 6: words are, what the names are in Amsterdam. So how
- 31:03Speaker 6: can you remember a name that's all continents? That's what
- 31:06Speaker 6: I love about New York. I know where 59th Street
- 31:09Speaker 6: is because it's above 57th and below 60th. And so
- 31:16Speaker 6: when you get out of a subway or you're wandering
- 31:18Speaker 6: around trying to find something and what you have is,
- 31:21Speaker 6: you know, the Louisa Ortiz Street, man, that drives me crazy.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Well, it's still the Triborough Bridge. It's not the Robert F.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Kennedy Bridge. And if you say the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge,
- 31:34Speaker 3: nobody knows where that is.
- 31:36Speaker 6: No i actually discovered that to my detriment when i
- 31:39Speaker 6: was driving in and out i think it had just
- 31:41Speaker 6: been changed to visit my mother in connecticut and i'm
- 31:46Speaker 6: afraid of driving in new york it's crazy why would
- 31:48Speaker 6: you drive we used to have a subway system i
- 31:50Speaker 6: could use every day so anyway i'm driving in and
- 31:53Speaker 6: out every day And I'm at the top of Manhattan
- 31:57Speaker 6: looking desperately for the Triborough Bridge. I can't find it.
- 32:02Speaker 6: And then finally it dawns on me, wait, I've never
- 32:05Speaker 6: heard of the RFK Bridge before. I wonder if that's it.
- 32:10Speaker 6: I actually had no idea.
- 32:11Speaker 3: They hate Kennedy Jr., so they'll probably take the name
- 32:14Speaker 3: off now. They'll probably go back to the Triborough. You know,
- 32:17Speaker 3: they want Trump's name off the Kennedy Center. If Democrats
- 32:21Speaker 3: knew what John F. Kennedy stood for, He was anti-abortion.
- 32:25Speaker 3: He was pro-war. He was a tax cutter. Don't you
- 32:27Speaker 3: think they'd want his name off the building, too?
- 32:29Speaker 6: That's a good point. Well, they don't want Trump's name
- 32:34Speaker 6: on any buildings, and I can't say I disagree with them.
- 32:38Speaker 6: As I've just— not any insult to Trump, but as I've
- 32:41Speaker 6: just indicated, you just stop naming stuff after politicians. In fact,
- 32:46Speaker 6: I'd strip a lot of them away. Republicans still refer
- 32:50Speaker 6: to it as the East River Drive. Really hate that one. And, okay,
- 32:56Speaker 6: except for the president, the two Kennedys who were assassinated. Okay,
- 33:01Speaker 6: enough has been named after them, but could we please
- 33:04Speaker 6: stop now? And, okay, I'll give you Reagan National. Though
- 33:08Speaker 6: I wasn't working in the Senate then, and I wasn't
- 33:10Speaker 6: wildly enthusiastic about that, but they told me it was
- 33:12Speaker 6: just retaliation for everything being named after FDR and Kennedy.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Oh, I like that. That's good. Well, Ann Coulter, we're
- 33:18Speaker 3: out of time, but she's got a great Rumble channel,
- 33:21Speaker 3: and you've got new stuff coming tomorrow on the Rumble channel?
- 33:24Speaker 6: Yes. Yes, I will. I've been doing Mondays, but I
- 33:28Speaker 6: just flew back from across the pond, so I didn't
- 33:31Speaker 6: do a Monday one. So tomorrow at 5 p.m., we're
- 33:32Speaker 6: going to have a live Rumble.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Live Rumble. Rumble's like the conservative YouTube, so take a
- 33:38Speaker 3: look at that. Follow Ann Coulter on Twitter. And her
- 33:41Speaker 3: Substack is great. It's got interviews and videos and podcasts. AnnCoulter.substack.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Ann Coulter, thanks for being with us.
- 33:51Speaker 6: Good to talk to you, Mark Simone. Bye-bye.
- 33:52Speaker 1: All right.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Take care. Hey, coming up, by the way, I'll be
- 33:55Speaker 3: off tomorrow and Friday. I'll be back on Tuesday. Remember,
- 33:58Speaker 3: it's Labor Day weekend. Coming up at noon, you've got
- 34:01Speaker 3: Buck and Clay. And don't forget, this show now starts
- 34:05Speaker 3: at 9. It's three hours, 9 to noon every day.
- 34:08Speaker 3: And then, of course, 6 to 9. Curtis Lewa and
- 34:11Speaker 3: Larry Menti here on 710WOR.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Now 9 till noon weekdays. Mark Simone.
- 34:19Speaker 3: More Mark.
- 34:20Speaker 2: On 710WOR.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Well, hey, we're out of time. Now I'll be off
- 34:28Speaker 3: tomorrow and Friday, taking two days off. And then it's
- 34:32Speaker 3: Labor Day weekend. So I'll be back on Tuesday. Then
- 34:37Speaker 3: it's after Labor Day, which means I'll be here five
- 34:40Speaker 3: days a week. No more Fridays off. I just do
- 34:42Speaker 3: that in the summer instead of taking a couple weeks off.
- 34:47Speaker 3: But after Labor Day, back to work five days a week.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Three hours. Remember, nine to noon. Nine to noon every day.
- 34:57Speaker 3: So have a great Labor Day weekend. It's going to
- 35:00Speaker 3: rain today. Not a lot. It's raining here and there. Tomorrow,
- 35:04Speaker 3: rain here and there. But then Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
- 35:07Speaker 3: supposed to be dry. Sunshine should be a great Labor
- 35:11Speaker 3: Day weekend. It's hard to believe it's here already, but
- 35:14Speaker 3: it is. So I'll be back Tuesday, 9 to noon. Remember,
- 35:17Speaker 3: it's three hours now. 9 to noon. Have a great
- 35:20Speaker 3: Labor Day weekend. It's been quite a summer. I'll see
- 35:23Speaker 3: you Tuesday right here on 710WOR.
