- 0:01The vital nature of man is a core existential element of our
- 0:05existence. In the past, those who took up
- 0:09serious, spiritual practice frequently recognized, both the
- 0:15power of the vital and the difficulty of bringing it under
- 0:19some kind of managed and focused control.
- 0:23And thus, they attempted to abandon it to whatever extent
- 0:27possible. And focus on meditation to the
- 0:31exclusion of an outer life. This limited approach helped
- 0:36individuals succeed in their attempt to achieve Liberation
- 0:40from the illusory status of action in the world.
- 0:44It did nothing to bring about any kind of change or
- 0:47transformation in the outer existence.
- 0:50And it left a large and essential portion of human
- 0:53nature essentially untouched. There are frequent apocryphal
- 0:59Tales of Yogi's who spent long periods of time in meditation.
- 1:04But when they came out and had to interact with the
- 1:07circumstances of the outer life were unprepared and who, then
- 1:12reacted, with anger, lust jealousy, greed, envy and other
- 1:19forms of Desire. Clearly, they had achieved some
- 1:24serious advancement in the mental realm and could achieve
- 1:27states of concentrated. One pointed focus on the
- 1:31spiritual goal, they set before themselves, but this was done at
- 1:36the expense of any transforming. Focus on the outer life.
- 1:42Changing the vital nature is hard some liken it to trying to
- 1:47straighten out a dog's tail, which will simply go back to its
- 1:51former State. Once, the controlling pressure
- 1:54is removed, it is understandable, why those who
- 1:58are deeply involved in meditation will generally resist
- 2:02taking up the outer nature and its endless difficulties and
- 2:06snares. Yet, eventually the outer nature
- 2:11needs to be dealt with. If you Manatee is to progress
- 2:16and if we are to finally Solve the Riddle of our existence, the
- 2:23integral yoga of Sri aurobindo and the mother specifically
- 2:27acknowledges this task and works to take up and transform the
- 2:31vital nature and its relationship to the wider Divine
- 2:35manifestation, And they recognize that, not everyone can
- 2:40achieve spiritual fulfillment through meditation.
- 2:44Thus they Embrace not only The Path of Knowledge, but also that
- 2:50of devotion bhakti, yoga and that of Works, Karma, Yoga, SRI
- 2:57aurobindo writes quote. There are some people who are
- 3:01not cut out for meditation and it is only by work that they can
- 3:06prepare themselves. Are also those who are the
- 3:09opposite, the including of the outer Consciousness in the
- 3:14transformation is of supreme importance in this yoga
- 3:18meditation, cannot do it. Meditation can deal only with
- 3:22the inner being. So work is of primary Ain't
- 3:27only, it must be done with the right attitude and in the right
- 3:32Consciousness, then it is as fruitful as any meditation can
- 3:37be. That is one great utility of
- 3:41work that it tests, the nature, and puts the Sadiq in front of
- 3:47the defects of his outer being, which might otherwise Escape
- 3:51him. End quote, reference SRI
