- 1:56Speaker 1: I just stood up from my chair to refocus my camera.
- 1:59Speaker 1: If you're watching on YouTube, we're going to dive into
- 2:03Speaker 1: the Buffalo bills biggest draft needs facing them currently as
- 2:08Speaker 1: we continue to mosey our way on towards the twenty
- 2:11Speaker 1: twenty six NFL Draft, we are less than a month
- 2:14Speaker 1: away from the NFL Draft. The Bills roster has started
- 2:18Speaker 1: to take shape with free agency, the first wave of
- 2:21Speaker 1: free agency, second wave, third wave, so on and so forth,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and the picture is starting to, you know, become a
- 2:28Speaker 1: little clear. The fog is starting to dissipate a little bit,
- 2:31Speaker 1: and we're starting to essentially kind of see what the
- 2:34Speaker 1: Bills are going to look like going into the twenty
- 2:36Speaker 1: twenty six season. Now, as you know, as as happens
- 2:40Speaker 1: every year for the Bills and for any and every team,
- 2:43Speaker 1: the draft plays a large role and who the teams
- 2:46Speaker 1: will be in the upcoming season, and the Bills like
- 2:48Speaker 1: this year, I think, like most years, I've used free
- 2:50Speaker 1: agency to patch some things up a little bit, provide
- 2:54Speaker 1: some legitimate answers, but also just you know, band aid
- 2:57Speaker 1: some things patch up some of the cracks a little
- 2:59Speaker 1: bit to not necessarily have to go into the draft
- 3:02Speaker 1: with glaring needs or a huge alarm at a certain
- 3:06Speaker 1: position or needing a certain thing. But I do think
- 3:10Speaker 1: there are certain positions that are more under a spotlight
- 3:14Speaker 1: than others for a variety of reasons. And we are
- 3:17Speaker 1: going to dive into that tonight kind of level set
- 3:21Speaker 1: where this roster is what they need going forward. Put
- 3:24Speaker 1: a lot of our discussions for the past several weeks
- 3:27Speaker 1: into focus here and then use that as a jump
- 3:30Speaker 1: off point in future episodes here on the show leading
- 3:33Speaker 1: up to the draft in terms of breaking down further
- 3:35Speaker 1: prospects and position pieces. The last episode that we did
- 3:38Speaker 1: here was two weeks ago. I was joined with Russell.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I was joined by Russell Brown. I should say tremendous episode,
- 3:44Speaker 1: super long. We detailed first round draft targets for the
- 3:48Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills and a multitude of positions, and went through
- 3:51Speaker 1: a bunch of other names that you should know at
- 3:53Speaker 1: other positions of need. We went through first round targets,
- 3:56Speaker 1: some day two guys, some late round guys, and multitude
- 3:58Speaker 1: of spots. We're really honing in on who the Bills
- 4:00Speaker 1: can grab in round one why they should do so.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Last week there was no episode. Apologies for lack of
- 4:06Speaker 1: communication around that. I had to travel for work last week,
- 4:11Speaker 1: so I was in communicado essentially off social media for
- 4:14Speaker 1: the entirety of last week. But we're back live and
- 4:17Speaker 1: in full effect this week here on Disgui's coverage. As
- 4:20Speaker 1: we do here on the show, always like to make
- 4:23Speaker 1: the show as engaging as possible. So what do you
- 4:26Speaker 1: think the Bills' biggest draft needs are? If you are
- 4:29Speaker 1: joining me live here on the show, put it into
- 4:32Speaker 1: the chat. Positions, who you are targeting in the draft? Why,
- 4:37Speaker 1: what your thoughts are? Is it a twenty twenty six thing?
- 4:39Speaker 1: Is it a twenty twenty seven need? And beyond? Are
- 4:41Speaker 1: you thinking short term? Are you thinking future? What guys
- 4:44Speaker 1: do you like on the roster do you not like?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Are you trying to just go for depth? Do you
- 4:48Speaker 1: think there are certain starters? Anything and everything you got?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Feel free to put it up into the chat and
- 4:52Speaker 1: we will have a good back and forth about that
- 4:55Speaker 1: and around that, as we do here on the show.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Appreciate the couple comments at the long time no see
- 5:01Speaker 1: and the feel like it's been a while hope all
- 5:02Speaker 1: as well. You appreciate you guys. Yeah, there was a yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 1: no episode last week. Or're back on course starting with
- 5:10Speaker 1: this week. Gonna grab a couple comments. Here're gonna start
- 5:13Speaker 1: with Charles's comment, and Charles says Biggest needs one edge rusher,
- 5:17Speaker 1: two someone that affects the quarterback. Three past game wreckers.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So for Charles, I'm guessing it seems like you think
- 5:25Speaker 1: the Bills need some more pass rush pop, some pass
- 5:28Speaker 1: rush juice. I am in agreeance with you that it
- 5:33Speaker 1: is in need. It's not my top one, but it
- 5:36Speaker 1: kind of is this this whole episode, even just for me.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And just before I do that, I'm gonna keep going
- 5:42Speaker 1: to some other comments comedy from Williams saying I can't
- 5:44Speaker 1: decide if they should take an edge, defensive tackle or
- 5:47Speaker 1: wide receiver at twenty six or with their first pick.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I like how you put or with their first pick.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I am very much on team trade back as of
- 5:56Speaker 1: right now, maybe depending on which guys fall uh to
- 6:00Speaker 1: pick twenty six, but as of right now, I would
- 6:03Speaker 1: prefer a trade back. Is at this point, I wouldn't
- 6:07Speaker 1: go wide receiver at twenty six, but we're going to
- 6:10Speaker 1: dive into that. Roy says, it's mock draft season. Yes,
- 6:13Speaker 1: it is mock draft season, and it's the season where
- 6:16Speaker 1: you put out a mock in people yell at you
- 6:18Speaker 1: because you didn't take the one guy that they wanted
- 6:20Speaker 1: at this one spot. Kion, that's funny. Louis comment ties
- 6:26Speaker 1: into Charles Charles's number two point with some of that
- 6:29Speaker 1: affects the QB and his point number three was a
- 6:31Speaker 1: pass game wrecker, and Lewis comment follows up with that
- 6:34Speaker 1: and says, ka goin kuind it takes care of two
- 6:36Speaker 1: and three, just not in the way that we want.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Well played, Oh, well played. Roy says, I will always
- 6:44Speaker 1: stand on the hill of get Josh more weapons. I
- 6:47Speaker 1: don't I think that's fair. I think that's fair. I
- 6:49Speaker 1: just think that they're given the acquisition of DJ Moore
- 6:53Speaker 1: and having to give up a second round pick, So
- 6:57Speaker 1: getting DJ Moore, having to pay DJ Moore and essentially
- 7:00Speaker 1: giving up a second round pick, that's a lot of
- 7:02Speaker 1: assets at wide receiver, and then taking a wide receiver
- 7:05Speaker 1: at twenty six. I'm not completely against it, but doing
- 7:08Speaker 1: that while you have other legitimate holes in a multitude
- 7:13Speaker 1: of spots, that's kind of just why I'm not putting
- 7:16Speaker 1: wide receiver in that top tier, but I wouldn't hate it,
- 7:18Speaker 1: h and as loose as Carneal Tate at twenty six,
- 7:20Speaker 1: let's go if Cardinal Tate fell, Yeah, that'd be great,
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know, I tell you what, what's an interesting one.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I really like Jordan Tyson. Jordan Tyson for me is
- 7:29Speaker 1: my would be my wide receiver one. The injuries are
- 7:32Speaker 1: so muddy and murky with him. But if Jordan Tyson
- 7:37Speaker 1: falls because of the injury concerns, and if he were
- 7:40Speaker 1: to be available at twenty six, that's a tough one
- 7:43Speaker 1: for me. He's just so good and but the injuries,
- 7:50Speaker 1: the injuries are legitimate problem, all the soft tissue stuff.
- 7:53Speaker 1: He can't stay healthy. He's not even healthy now in
- 7:55Speaker 1: the offseason, like, but he plays through stuff. You're just
- 7:58Speaker 1: I just don't think you're gonna get more in like
- 8:00Speaker 1: ten to twelve games of him a season. And if
- 8:03Speaker 1: you do, like, how how healthy is he? Like is
- 8:06Speaker 1: he playing? But he's only like sixty five percent? But
- 8:09Speaker 1: if I Cardinal Tate, I think there's no shot. I'm
- 8:12Speaker 1: assuming you do as well, Uh, Lou, I can since
- 8:14Speaker 1: the sarcasm through the comment here, But if Jordan Tyson
- 8:17Speaker 1: were to fall, which I don't think is out of
- 8:19Speaker 1: the realm of possibility, that's one that I would that
- 8:25Speaker 1: would be kind of tough for me to pass up on.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think Jordan Tyson is super good. And again, the
- 8:30Speaker 1: injuries are part of it, right, Like I how many
- 8:33Speaker 1: games is he going to be healthy for a year
- 8:35Speaker 1: after year after year? But man, dude is just such
- 8:37Speaker 1: a good football player. Ethan says, aunt, would you rather
- 8:42Speaker 1: a trade back include twenty twenty six capital, Oh, here's
- 8:45Speaker 1: a good question, or twenty twenty seven capital. For example,
- 8:49Speaker 1: a team trading for pick twenty six and we get
- 8:52Speaker 1: say two twenty twenty six picks or one twenty twenty
- 8:55Speaker 1: six and one twenty twenty seven pick. Oh, it would
- 8:59Speaker 1: depend on where the twenty twenty seven pick was. If
- 9:03Speaker 1: the Bills got a first round twenty twenty seven pick,
- 9:10Speaker 1: I would do that over anything with how I think
- 9:12Speaker 1: the twenty twenty seven class is going to shape up.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I think that's lower out of the realm of possibility.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So for me, I would I'd say the more realistic option,
- 9:21Speaker 1: and one that I would still be very happy with,
- 9:23Speaker 1: would be two twenty twenty six picks. My deal Sneero
- 9:27Speaker 1: right now for this draft is they move back from
- 9:28Speaker 1: twenty six and either get you know, a late round
- 9:32Speaker 1: first and a third you know, you know, they essentially
- 9:36Speaker 1: swap first with the team and get a third round
- 9:38Speaker 1: pick in exchange, or they move back from twenty six
- 9:41Speaker 1: into like the mid or even latesh thirties, and then
- 9:45Speaker 1: get another Day two pick on top of it. I
- 9:47Speaker 1: would like for the Bills to instead of having pick
- 9:50Speaker 1: twenty six and pick ninety one, which is a pick
- 9:52Speaker 1: in the first round and a pick in the third round,
- 9:55Speaker 1: I would prefer them to have three picks in the
- 9:57Speaker 1: top ninety an ideal world, two second round picks would
- 10:01Speaker 1: be great, But if they could get a second round
- 10:03Speaker 1: pick and an earlier mid third, that's kind of where
- 10:06Speaker 1: I'm looking. I think the sweet spot for this draft
- 10:08Speaker 1: class really is between like pick thirty five and seventy five,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and with that, some dudes will fall just based on
- 10:14Speaker 1: need and what you're looking for and the position the
- 10:16Speaker 1: Bills need. I think that speaks to that sweet spot
- 10:19Speaker 1: even more. But this is a really good question. I
- 10:20Speaker 1: appreciate you, Ethan. Yeah, if if you could get me
- 10:23Speaker 1: a twenty twenty seven first round pick. I would be
- 10:26Speaker 1: all aboard that over anything else, but I think that
- 10:29Speaker 1: would be harder to come across. And then if someone's
- 10:34Speaker 1: kind of going for that, they're probably not a team
- 10:36Speaker 1: who's in a true rebuild. So that's a late first round.
- 10:38Speaker 1: But I still would take it because that class is
- 10:40Speaker 1: gonna be sweet. Ooh, A really good question, really good question.
- 10:45Speaker 1: William says it's some of the potential wide receivers that
- 10:47Speaker 1: could be available at twenty six that make it hard
- 10:49Speaker 1: for me to say no way to another wide receiver.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think that's fair, especially with this class. Right, like
- 10:55Speaker 1: there's there's not really We'll see how the draft falls,
- 10:59Speaker 1: you know, and I want to deal in absolutes, even
- 11:02Speaker 1: though the Sith are better than the Jedi. But yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: like you could make the case for the best guy
- 11:07Speaker 1: on the board at twenty six is a wide receiver.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You can make that case. I don't think that's crazy.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I don't think that's out of the rum possibility at all.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I just think if that if that's the case, where
- 11:16Speaker 1: the best player on the board at twenty six is
- 11:19Speaker 1: a wide receiver, I would push even harder for a
- 11:23Speaker 1: trade back because you need and we're gonna get into it.
- 11:27Speaker 1: You need a nose, a run stopping nose. You need
- 11:31Speaker 1: a four I, you need another edge. You need a
- 11:36Speaker 1: starting linebacker or at worse, like a linebacker three, depending
- 11:40Speaker 1: on how you think about Dorrin Williams, we're going to
- 11:41Speaker 1: get into in this episode. You need a safety for
- 11:45Speaker 1: definitely for next year, but maybe even this year. CJ.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Gardner Johnson is kind of like a patch job or
- 11:50Speaker 1: a band aid, but he's also volatile, Like I think CJ.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Gardner Johnson is a sampaper dude in a sweet I've
- 11:55Speaker 1: wanted him since like twenty twenty two or twenty twenty three,
- 11:58Speaker 1: but he also, I don't know, could be off the
- 12:00Speaker 1: team in the middle of summer or in the first
- 12:02Speaker 1: month of the season. And then you're looking at Geno
- 12:04Speaker 1: Stone and DeMar Hamlin and depending on how you think
- 12:07Speaker 1: of Jordan Hancock, I think there's too many needs that
- 12:09Speaker 1: Trump wide receiver right now. But I do think that
- 12:13Speaker 1: you can make the case that you know, there's some
- 12:15Speaker 1: wide receivers at twenty six that might be the best
- 12:16Speaker 1: football player on the board, and I could see not
- 12:19Speaker 1: passing on that. But if that's the case, I would
- 12:21Speaker 1: just prefer trade back to recoup more value and continue
- 12:24Speaker 1: to build this team and get more cost effective depth
- 12:27Speaker 1: and rotational guys or maybe even some starters considering what
- 12:30Speaker 1: their contracts look like and where they're at. Roy says,
- 12:35Speaker 1: Casey concepts you on a twenty six would make me
- 12:36Speaker 1: very happy. Don't think he gets there though. I think
- 12:38Speaker 1: he will be there. I think he will be there,
- 12:39Speaker 1: but we'll see. Oh, Joey says, the Enemen in round
- 12:43Speaker 1: one would set up our secondary for future years. Would
- 12:45Speaker 1: be young and versatile at safety and CB. That's fair.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I don't hate it. I just don't love. I just
- 12:53Speaker 1: don't love Dylan Thieneman. That's at the Enemen. I always
- 12:56Speaker 1: say Theemen because the spelling in my head. I just
- 12:58Speaker 1: don't love THEENIM like that, And I question what his
- 13:02Speaker 1: role is in the NFL. I think he's more of
- 13:04Speaker 1: like a hybrid player than he is a true safety,
- 13:06Speaker 1: and I think the Bills need a true safety. It
- 13:08Speaker 1: would be cool to have like two hybrid type of
- 13:10Speaker 1: guys with him and Cold Bishop, but I still think
- 13:13Speaker 1: you need some complimentary aspects there. I think both of
- 13:18Speaker 1: the goals guys lean too much into one another. Now
- 13:21Speaker 1: there are some cool, fun things that you could do
- 13:23Speaker 1: with both of them because of how versatile they are
- 13:26Speaker 1: and what their skill sets are. But I just don't
- 13:29Speaker 1: think either of them are the strongest player playing deeper
- 13:33Speaker 1: and the further away from the line of scrimmage they get.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And I don't think either is an ideal post safety
- 13:38Speaker 1: at this point, and so I would I would prefer
- 13:40Speaker 1: more of that skill set in another safety. But I
- 13:43Speaker 1: don't hate the idea athenem In. I just think there's
- 13:46Speaker 1: a little too much same, same and like for like
- 13:48Speaker 1: with cold Bishop, but that could be good. I just
- 13:51Speaker 1: would like some more complimentary aspect to Bishop, but I
- 13:54Speaker 1: think that's fair. Uh, where are we? John Roberts says,
- 13:58Speaker 1: I like defensive endor nose tackle on the first I'm
- 14:00Speaker 1: right there with you. Pop says, what are the top
- 14:02Speaker 1: three positions that you think are the Bills draft needs? Pops,
- 14:06Speaker 1: great question. We're gonna get to that. It's in my notes.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I have them ranked. I cheated a little bit, but
- 14:11Speaker 1: I have them ranked. Ryan says, wish they could fill
- 14:15Speaker 1: some more holes before the draft, but it doesn't seem
- 14:16Speaker 1: like there is much urgency from being yet, you know,
- 14:19Speaker 1: kind of go back to a conversation we had on
- 14:20Speaker 1: this episode several weeks ago. It really seemed like they
- 14:23Speaker 1: were in on Trey Hendrickson and or Max Crosby, and
- 14:27Speaker 1: we're kind of waiting for that shoe to drop, And
- 14:29Speaker 1: while they were waiting for that shoe to drop, other
- 14:31Speaker 1: shoes dropped. Now it maybe that's not what happened. Maybe
- 14:37Speaker 1: that is what happened, and they thought that that cost
- 14:39Speaker 1: benefit analysis worked for them. But yeah, I the money
- 14:44Speaker 1: they spent this offseason and the draft capital they spent,
- 14:47Speaker 1: I would have allocated it elsewhere. I don't necessarily hate
- 14:52Speaker 1: the moves that they've made. I don't love everything. In totality,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I think overall everything is fine. And I don't say
- 14:57Speaker 1: that disparagingly. You're like a backhanded compliment. I think everything
- 15:00Speaker 1: is fine for the most part. But yeah, I will
- 15:05Speaker 1: say this, and I've said this before, like I'm a
- 15:07Speaker 1: huge fan of Jim Leonard and a huge proponent of
- 15:09Speaker 1: Jim Leonard. If the Bills had enough highed Jim Leonard,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I would be much more pessimistic on this season than
- 15:17Speaker 1: I am, which I think I already am kind of
- 15:18Speaker 1: leaning that way or skewing that way. Jim Leonard is
- 15:22Speaker 1: preventing me from fully hopping over the fence. To kind
- 15:27Speaker 1: of put it like there, Joey says, what a one
- 15:29Speaker 1: tech defensive lineman be off your board? Round one? That's
- 15:32Speaker 1: a great question. I'm gonna lead off with that segment
- 15:34Speaker 1: in a minute, and I will answer that swin fair question.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Do we know that Maxwell Harriston is good? I think
- 15:39Speaker 1: it's a fair question. We don't really know what Max
- 15:41Speaker 1: Harston is. You know, is he solid? Is he gonna
- 15:46Speaker 1: get hurt again? What's his ceiling? What's his floor? He
- 15:48Speaker 1: showed some good flashes as a rookie, he also showed
- 15:51Speaker 1: some vulnerabilities. I think Max Harriston will be fine for
- 15:54Speaker 1: the Bills as CB two, but I do think CB
- 15:59Speaker 1: three is a legitimate need for this Buffalo Bills team.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Corner is a premium position and those dudes also tend
- 16:07Speaker 1: to get banged up, like every position in the NFL does.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And right now, Dorian Strong is your CB three, but
- 16:13Speaker 1: he might never play football again. And I also think
- 16:15Speaker 1: you could still do better than him at CB three.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And then you're also looking at think Darryl Porter, junior
- 16:20Speaker 1: undrafted guy from last year. So yeah, and I know
- 16:23Speaker 1: d Alford. This is the corner, the nickel that they
- 16:26Speaker 1: got from Atlanta. Sorry, I'm moving too much as put
- 16:27Speaker 1: the camera to focus. D Alford the nickel that they
- 16:30Speaker 1: got from Atlanta. He's going to be their starting nickel. Yes,
- 16:34Speaker 1: he can play outside a little bit, but if he
- 16:36Speaker 1: has to play outside, that means you need somebody else
- 16:38Speaker 1: to step in at nickel, or you need to change
- 16:41Speaker 1: what your sub packages are. And if d Alford happens
- 16:44Speaker 1: to get hurt, now you're down your CB three and
- 16:47Speaker 1: you're starting nickel. But so yeah, they need a CB
- 16:50Speaker 1: three at the bare minimum, just because of the uncertainty
- 16:53Speaker 1: after Benford and Harston. But I think it's fair to
- 16:56Speaker 1: question what Max Harston will be in your two. Connor says,
- 17:05Speaker 1: I bet that I can sell you on drafting Casey Concepcione,
- 17:07Speaker 1: even trading up for him. If I say that he's
- 17:09Speaker 1: the next Lee Evans nostalgia bait. No, that wouldn't be
- 17:13Speaker 1: enough for me, But I think that's fair a fair point.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Bob says that the Bills don't draft a defensive end
- 17:19Speaker 1: or linebacker high, then I think Shaq and Epanessa will
- 17:22Speaker 1: be brought back. I wonder that will be interesting to
- 17:26Speaker 1: see if those guys were more McDermott ads or McDermott
- 17:28Speaker 1: guys every year, or if Bean has an affinity for
- 17:31Speaker 1: them as well. I think that's fair. Oh Williams says,
- 17:33Speaker 1: maybe we pick Caleb Banks and line him up next
- 17:35Speaker 1: to Dean Walker. Maybe for me, Caleb Banks is too
- 17:38Speaker 1: much of a wildcard in a question mark and I
- 17:39Speaker 1: don't want any parts him already getting hurt this offseason.
- 17:43Speaker 1: There's just such a variance, and I don't think the
- 17:46Speaker 1: Bills are in a position to play that variance game.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Caleb Banks could be sick. He also could just be
- 17:53Speaker 1: consistently injured or an ineffective player, or he could be
- 17:56Speaker 1: a multitude of things in between. I think Caleb Banks
- 17:59Speaker 1: is almost in a different light, but it's almost kind
- 18:04Speaker 1: of like a defensive tackle version of Kean Coleman, where
- 18:07Speaker 1: there's he could fill in anywhere on the spectrum from
- 18:11Speaker 1: sweet to terrible. And I don't want to play that
- 18:14Speaker 1: game with the needs that the Bills have and the
- 18:16Speaker 1: cap space that the Bills do and or don't have.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So I think it's fair to take a swing on
- 18:21Speaker 1: the variance guy. I just don't want to do it
- 18:24Speaker 1: this year with the questions that they have. Yeah, but
- 18:27Speaker 1: that's fair, oh man, Aidana Adana, I never know how
- 18:36Speaker 1: to say the name of this coount. You asked me
- 18:38Speaker 1: some of the most fun and difficult and challenging questions
- 18:41Speaker 1: every single week. The question is if you had to
- 18:43Speaker 1: rank the top five worst first round draft picks in
- 18:47Speaker 1: NFL history, what would your top five be across anybody,
- 18:52Speaker 1: like all teams. That's so tough because it's hard to quantify.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I immediately ones that come to mind are like, uh,
- 19:01Speaker 1: Cleveland Farrell when the Raiders took him. Also the Raiders
- 19:06Speaker 1: and they took Darius Heyward Bay. I think Ryan Leaf
- 19:11Speaker 1: is up there. Man, that's such a hard, a hard question.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I'm thinking when the Packers took who was like regarded
- 19:19Speaker 1: as like the worst pick or bust of all time,
- 19:24Speaker 1: Tony Manderich. Is it Tony Manners? Yeah, Tony Manderrich, who
- 19:30Speaker 1: got taken by the Packers second overall in eighty nine. Yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 1: dude was a monster coming out of Michigan State. Yep, yep, yep, yep.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Oh man, that's such a tough question. We could do
- 19:41Speaker 1: a full episode on that. Oh that might be fun.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Offseason commentary there's probably a bunch of Mike Williams or
- 19:47Speaker 1: the Bills. The tackle from Texas is up there. There's
- 19:52Speaker 1: a lot. Oh, that's a really fun one. That's tough,
- 19:57Speaker 1: Nicholas says, manifesting Kay McDonald and the first round. It's
- 20:00Speaker 1: crazy how dominant he is as a run defender while
- 20:02Speaker 1: still being raw slash undefined. From a technical standpoint, his
- 20:05Speaker 1: ceiling is higher than most make it out. I like that.
- 20:09Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about him in a minute. Swin said,
- 20:13Speaker 1: you said you were pessimistic about this year. Do you
- 20:15Speaker 1: think we finally have a down year? No, I just
- 20:19Speaker 1: not necessarily down year. I just I don't feel more
- 20:25Speaker 1: confident in this being the year that the Bills finally
- 20:28Speaker 1: get over the hump. I would like to feel better
- 20:32Speaker 1: about that. I don't think the Bills are going to
- 20:34Speaker 1: be bad. I think this is still a playoff team.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I still think this is a team that should or
- 20:38Speaker 1: very easily could win the AFC East, depending on what
- 20:40Speaker 1: the Patriots do and what their schedule is. I think
- 20:43Speaker 1: they were kind of a paper tiger last year, though
- 20:46Speaker 1: they did beat the Bills early in the year, so
- 20:47Speaker 1: kudos to them. They deserve the AFC East No, So
- 20:51Speaker 1: I don't think the Bills will have a down year.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I guess it also too depends not to play this game,
- 20:56Speaker 1: but it depends on what you define as a down year.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I still think this is a playoff team, and if
- 20:59Speaker 1: they get to the playoffs, anything can happen. I just
- 21:03Speaker 1: don't have a ton of faith in the insulation, in
- 21:05Speaker 1: the ecosystem and the full roster right now. Charles says,
- 21:10Speaker 1: I have zero interest in a run stopping nose tackle
- 21:12Speaker 1: of twenty six. You could find that later in the draft.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I think that's fair. But there's two things. One, it's
- 21:17Speaker 1: a big need right now, and if you don't get
- 21:19Speaker 1: it early, you're forced to take it later. And the
- 21:23Speaker 1: longer you wait, the more narrow that skill set and
- 21:27Speaker 1: that role becomes. Like if you take someone like Caden McDonald,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I think he's such a better player than a lot
- 21:33Speaker 1: of the nose tackles you can get later, depending on
- 21:35Speaker 1: who it is, and it just gives you more versatility.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And I also think you need to think of it
- 21:41Speaker 1: as not just a run stopping nose tackle. But if
- 21:43Speaker 1: you get a run stopping nose, what that means for
- 21:46Speaker 1: the defense, What it means for the second level and
- 21:48Speaker 1: what it also means for Dion Walker. But we're going
- 21:50Speaker 1: to talk about it. Pop says, we'll cook have as
- 21:56Speaker 1: good of a year without my brother Regie Gillian blocking form.
- 21:59Speaker 1: We're gonna find out. Oh. Tim says he likes Lee Hunter.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I like Lee.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I like Lee Hunter as well. I like Lee Hunter
- 22:05Speaker 1: as well. Andy says nose tackle it's not a position
- 22:10Speaker 1: you'd take in the first unless he has a huge
- 22:11Speaker 1: upside of pass rush fair. But I do think it.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I think it depends on the team. Like I think
- 22:17Speaker 1: someone like Tyleek Williams if the rumors are true that
- 22:20Speaker 1: the Bills were going to take him last year before
- 22:21Speaker 1: the line scooped him up. I think it's a you're
- 22:24Speaker 1: looking for a force multiplier at nose tackle, and if
- 22:27Speaker 1: you get a nose in round one, for instance, I'm
- 22:32Speaker 1: going to lead off with that topic. If you get
- 22:33Speaker 1: a nose in round one that frees up Deon Walker,
- 22:37Speaker 1: that helps your second level. It gives you the ability
- 22:40Speaker 1: to kind of fight more fire with fire, given where
- 22:42Speaker 1: the NFL is going and how the defense is currently built.
- 22:45Speaker 1: So I understand the idea of like not going early
- 22:47Speaker 1: for a run, stopping nose or like a siloed role
- 22:52Speaker 1: at twenty six. I think Cad McDonald gives you a
- 22:54Speaker 1: little bit more than that for him individually. But I
- 22:57Speaker 1: do see the kind of idea of like that role
- 23:00Speaker 1: or that silo not being worth a first round pick.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I think for the Bills it holds a little more
- 23:04Speaker 1: weight though, given what their current roster construction is. Oh
- 23:10Speaker 1: Asian minal initial very fair. Oh this is Charles JaMarcus Russell.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Good call for one of the top five worst draft
- 23:16Speaker 1: picks in NFL history. Good call. Oh yeah, I forgot
- 23:21Speaker 1: about see like this is this is one where like
- 23:23Speaker 1: I don't even want to answer that question until I've
- 23:24Speaker 1: done like research upon research. There's so many answers that
- 23:29Speaker 1: you really could go with, so many Bills answers too. Oh,
- 23:33Speaker 1: JaMarcus Russell is a real good one. I mean, there's
- 23:36Speaker 1: there's probably so many quarterback like answers that can go there. Oh,
- 23:39Speaker 1: this is fun. I kind of want to do.
- 23:40Speaker 2: This.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Is that what I was gonna talk about? M m mmm,
- 23:46Speaker 1: Joey says, Oh my god, Mike Williams, you just remind
- 23:48Speaker 1: me of the nightmare seasons. Aunt, please stop. I'm sorry
- 23:50Speaker 1: forgive me forgive me, forgive me, forgive me. Lou says
- 23:53Speaker 1: it's the difference between getting a guy you can play
- 23:55Speaker 1: on all three downs versus Situationally, I think that's fair.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Ethan says Lee Hunter was Joe Marino's doomsday pick at
- 24:02Speaker 1: twenty six. Thoughts I'm assuming doomsday, meaning like this is terrible.
- 24:05Speaker 1: We don't want this to happen. Yeah, I wouldn't. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: wouldn't want Lee Hunter at twenty six. I don't mind
- 24:11Speaker 1: Lee Hunter. I wouldn't minded Lee Hunter in the back
- 24:14Speaker 1: end of the second or a pick ninety one. But yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I wouldn't want Lee Hunter at twenty six. If Lee
- 24:23Speaker 1: Hunter was the best interior defender there at twenty six,
- 24:27Speaker 1: I would I would like to trade back. I wouldn't
- 24:30Speaker 1: like I wouldn't completely hate it, but I don't want
- 24:31Speaker 1: to love that. Roy says a will there be a
- 24:34Speaker 1: crossover mock draft show this year? Maybe I've got some
- 24:37Speaker 1: guests lined up in the works as we go forward.
- 24:40Speaker 1: My schedule last week kind of threw everything up into oblivion,
- 24:44Speaker 1: so to speak. But yeah, we're gonna be uh. We
- 24:48Speaker 1: will likely be doing a mock draft on the show,
- 24:50Speaker 1: either in a live version, probably not recorded because live
- 24:53Speaker 1: is more fun because I know everybody in the chat
- 24:55Speaker 1: wants to call out who they want to take and
- 24:57Speaker 1: yell at us for who they took and who they
- 24:59Speaker 1: didn't take it all that kind of stuff. So yeah,
- 25:01Speaker 1: we'll probably do a mock draft show at some point.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Good question Pop says, will the Bills be able to
- 25:08Speaker 1: trade up to get another pick in the first three rounds?
- 25:10Speaker 1: I don't think trade up. I think you'd have to
- 25:11Speaker 1: trade back from twenty six oh more answers Jo Walrus
- 25:16Speaker 1: Russell Good nickname Ryan Leaf, oh A, Kilee Smith from
- 25:19Speaker 1: the Bengals, Johnny Manziel, David Carr. I don't think was
- 25:24Speaker 1: too bad, like David Carr wasn't great, but I don't
- 25:26Speaker 1: think David Carr was terrible. Like you probably classify him
- 25:30Speaker 1: as a bust, but I don't think he was terrible.
- 25:34Speaker 1: It's also relative, I think to the class Keeley Smith.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Ryan Leaf I think is definitely up there for me
- 25:41Speaker 1: because I'll always remember that draft as everybody being like
- 25:45Speaker 1: and I think everybody thinks this or for the most part,
- 25:48Speaker 1: like Peyton Manning and Ryan Lee Peyton Manning and Ryan
- 25:50Speaker 1: Lee Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf, Ryan Leef or Peyton Manning.
- 25:52Speaker 1: It was like they were even some people like one
- 25:57Speaker 1: better than the other, but it was very much like
- 25:58Speaker 1: whoever the Colts take it one, the Chargers are sitting
- 26:01Speaker 1: pretty because both of these guys are gonna be studs
- 26:04Speaker 1: and then leave. Kind of was for the start of
- 26:06Speaker 1: his career, and then he yelled a guy in the
- 26:09Speaker 1: locker room and all the off the field stuff in
- 26:11Speaker 1: band he went down. Uh oh yeah man, and yeah
- 26:17Speaker 1: to Ryan's point, yeah, David Carr was in an impossible
- 26:20Speaker 1: situation one thousand percent first year for that team and
- 26:24Speaker 1: just expansion franchise. Yeah, really rough. Charles says Bryce Young
- 26:28Speaker 1: too soon? Yeah, I think too soon. Also for me,
- 26:33Speaker 1: I feel like like a true bust has to be
- 26:35Speaker 1: someone that's just complete, like JaMarcus Russell. I feel like
- 26:39Speaker 1: it's ten times the bust that Bryce Young is just
- 26:41Speaker 1: because of what he was supposed to be and what
- 26:44Speaker 1: he ended up being and how quickly he was out
- 26:46Speaker 1: of the league, so he would be like significantly higher.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Oh Josh, oh, Josh Rosen, Oh man, this is so crazy.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Aaron Mabon even Lossman, Lostman was kind of was a bust,
- 26:59Speaker 1: but you got some you got like a couple of
- 27:00Speaker 1: seasons of like decent to good play from JP Lossman.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Was he the long term answer? No, but I wouldn't
- 27:05Speaker 1: put him with like top five bus ever or like
- 27:08Speaker 1: worst draft picks maybe for the Bills, but no, I
- 27:11Speaker 1: like I would put John McCargo ahead of JP Lossman.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I would put Aaron Maybin ahead of JP Lossman. I
- 27:20Speaker 1: would put Mike Williams ahead of JP Lossman. I would
- 27:24Speaker 1: I might even put Dante Whitner ahead of JP Lossman,
- 27:27Speaker 1: maybe even Sammy Watkins because they were picking so early
- 27:30Speaker 1: and who else was available. A lot of different ways
- 27:32Speaker 1: to quantify it. Bob Bob b tca MP says, I
- 27:39Speaker 1: feel like we're going to draft a boundary corner in
- 27:41Speaker 1: the later rounds. You don't think, I absolutely do think that.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Edward says need a wide receiver or edge of twenty
- 27:47Speaker 1: six if not move out of first Ryan Leaf as
- 27:49Speaker 1: a bus good answer on Ryan Leaf, I don't think
- 27:50Speaker 1: wide receiver at twenty six edge. I think depending on
- 27:53Speaker 1: the edge, I wouldn't hate any edge. But there are
- 27:56Speaker 1: specific guys that I wanted, specific skill sets. We're going
- 27:58Speaker 1: to get into men here from our bald man who
- 28:02Speaker 1: are you most. Oh damn, there's a good question. There's
- 28:04Speaker 1: a hard one. Who are you most confident and their
- 28:07Speaker 1: ability to turn their game around to match their draft
- 28:11Speaker 1: pick hype? Landon Jackson, Dwayne Carter, Keon Coleman. Oh, I
- 28:18Speaker 1: guess this is also a two parter kind of one,
- 28:21Speaker 1: because one to match their draft pick hype for me
- 28:24Speaker 1: or match their draft pick hype overall. Because I didn't
- 28:28Speaker 1: have a ton of hype for Carter or Jackson and Keon.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I was in the middle. On for me, I think
- 28:38Speaker 1: for me personally, Keon Coleman. Keyon Coleman's biggest thing is
- 28:42Speaker 1: he just needs to mature. If he can mature, he's
- 28:44Speaker 1: a very useful player. Will he mature? I don't know.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Carter was just not effective from a physicality stand From
- 28:52Speaker 1: a physical standpoint, I should say an on the field standpoint,
- 28:56Speaker 1: like Keon just needs to get out of Keon's way, right.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I don't think that exists with Carter, and I don't
- 29:01Speaker 1: think that exists with Jackson and Carter and Jackson are
- 29:04Speaker 1: also both coming off significant injuries, and I think both
- 29:09Speaker 1: of them also have like physical limitations that limit their upside.
- 29:13Speaker 1: So my answer for me and for overall draft pickhype,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I think would be Kean Coleman because he just needs
- 29:19Speaker 1: to get out of his own way. He has the ability,
- 29:21Speaker 1: he has the talent, he just needs to I hate
- 29:23Speaker 1: using this phrase. He just needs to lock in will
- 29:25Speaker 1: he I don't know, but yeah, it would be Kean
- 29:28Speaker 1: Coleman for me. Good question. Oh EJ. Manual for the Bills.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I forgot about that. I forgot about that. Good call.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Oh that was a painful one. Yeah, that was the
- 29:43Speaker 1: EJ Manuel Gino Smith draft? Oh? Where did the Bills take?
- 29:48Speaker 1: Was EJ? Maniueals like like the fourteenth pick. I'm looking
- 29:50Speaker 1: it up.
- 29:52Speaker 2: By bye bye about.
- 29:55Speaker 1: About sixteen pick. Oh, I was so close ough twenty
- 30:00Speaker 1: thirteen NFL Draft. Well, and now I'm going down a
- 30:03Speaker 1: rabbit hole. Forgive me everybody. I want to see the
- 30:06Speaker 1: twenty thirteen NFL draft. Man, Oh, wasn't that great? But
- 30:12Speaker 1: after EJ Manuel Wow, Eric Jarvis Jones, Eric Reed, Justin Pugh,
- 30:18Speaker 1: Kyle Long, Tyler, Eifert, Doesmon Truefont, Chari Floyd, Boron, Werner,
- 30:23Speaker 1: Xavier Rhodes, Dayton Jones, oh DeAndre Hopkins, so Wester Williams,
- 30:27Speaker 1: Cordio Patterson, alc Ogletree, Travis Frederick matt Elom, Jonathan Ciprian,
- 30:31Speaker 1: Justin Hunters, ech Urged, Darius slay, Jio, Bernard man Ty
- 30:34Speaker 1: tale Gino Smith picked thirty nine in the second round.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So not a great draft. Man, Robert Woods the Billstock
- 30:41Speaker 1: Robert Woods with the forty first pick round two. That's
- 30:44Speaker 1: a good pick. Oh, that's a good pick. Well, and
- 30:46Speaker 1: then Keiko I picked forty six. Yeah, man, ej who
- 30:50Speaker 1: was the first pick in this draft?
- 30:51Speaker 2: Oh?
- 30:51Speaker 1: This, yeah, this was the Eric Fisher went one to
- 30:53Speaker 1: the Chiefs. Luke Joko went second to the Jags, Dion
- 30:55Speaker 1: Jordan went third to the Dolphins. Well, Lane Johnson went
- 30:59Speaker 1: forth to the Eagles. Great pick. This is not a
- 31:01Speaker 1: great draft for the Bills or for anybody really. Man,
- 31:09Speaker 1: m hmmm, yeah, As Charles says, the EJ draft sucked
- 31:12Speaker 1: all time bad. Come here for t J. Sanders saying,
- 31:16Speaker 1: I think TJ. Sanders can be pretty good with time
- 31:19Speaker 1: on task. Maybe, Oh, Pop says, WHEREL Sanders line up
- 31:23Speaker 1: this year? It's a good question. Let's get into it.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I'm going to lead off with nose tackle, and I
- 31:31Speaker 1: think so I'm going to lead off with nose tackle.
- 31:35Speaker 1: But I kind of want to put a disclaimer out
- 31:37Speaker 1: here for my thoughts on the Bills team right now,
- 31:40Speaker 1: especially on the defensive side. What I think is frustrating
- 31:43Speaker 1: with where the Bills are going into the draft is
- 31:46Speaker 1: they have a multitude of needs to various degrees across
- 31:50Speaker 1: the board, right, And I think even a lot of
- 31:52Speaker 1: your comments in the check kind of reflect this. Right.
- 31:54Speaker 1: You could make the case that, like receiver is a
- 31:56Speaker 1: top need. I think it's lesser than others, but you
- 31:59Speaker 1: can make the case if you wanted to. You can
- 32:01Speaker 1: make a case that edge is the biggest need, Defensive
- 32:03Speaker 1: tackle is the biggest need, Linebacker is the biggest need.
- 32:07Speaker 1: You could make a case the corner is up there.
- 32:08Speaker 1: You can make a case that safety is up there.
- 32:10Speaker 1: They have a multitude of needs. I would say a
- 32:13Speaker 1: good four solid needs four and a half or five
- 32:18Speaker 1: to really push it, and they don't have the draft
- 32:21Speaker 1: capital this year to address all of it for twenty
- 32:23Speaker 1: twenty six, and some of those needs also spill in
- 32:26Speaker 1: to twenty twenty seven. But I want to lead off
- 32:30Speaker 1: with nose tackle here, and you know we talked about
- 32:33Speaker 1: a little earlier, but I'm a lead from a very
- 32:35Speaker 1: specific skill set of a way, Right, the Bills need
- 32:40Speaker 1: a run focused nose tackle. Now, this does not mean
- 32:45Speaker 1: it has to be a three hundred and thirty pound man.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It does not have to be a completely immobile stone
- 32:50Speaker 1: that you drop into the middle. It does not have
- 32:53Speaker 1: to be Ted Williams. It does not have to or
- 32:55Speaker 1: Ted Williams. It does not have to be Ted Washington.
- 32:57Speaker 1: It does not have to be Pat Williams. It does
- 32:59Speaker 1: not have to be Sam Adams. Right, it doesn't have
- 33:01Speaker 1: to be Oh, it could be Big Citrus DOMINQE Orange,
- 33:06Speaker 1: flugging all over out of Iowa State. He moves better
- 33:11Speaker 1: than he gets credit for, even though he's shaped like
- 33:13Speaker 1: a bowlder, but he actually moves pretty well. He could scoop.
- 33:17Speaker 1: The Bills need a run focused nose tackle, and it's
- 33:21Speaker 1: for a multitude of reasons. One, they don't have the
- 33:25Speaker 1: caliber of player with that skill set. Roy says, the
- 33:29Speaker 1: Big Bill's biggest need equals the super Bowl. That's fair
- 33:31Speaker 1: well done, episode over. I can't compete with that. But
- 33:37Speaker 1: they need a run stopping nose first and foremost, because
- 33:40Speaker 1: that skill set isn't available on the roster at the
- 33:44Speaker 1: caliber they needed to be. Right, I think Faderia Mathis
- 33:47Speaker 1: is a fine depth guy. I think Zion Low might
- 33:49Speaker 1: even be a fine depth guy as well. Neither of
- 33:52Speaker 1: those guys are starting caliber twenty to twenty seven snaps
- 33:57Speaker 1: a game, meaningful snaps in pactful snaps type of players
- 34:02Speaker 1: first and foremost. Second Tied in with that, Dion Walker,
- 34:07Speaker 1: I don't think Dion Walker is an all around nose
- 34:11Speaker 1: tackle built to be the run stopping piece from a
- 34:15Speaker 1: displacement and eating standpoint. Dion Walker, and I don't mean
- 34:20Speaker 1: this negatively. Dean Walker, for as large as he is,
- 34:23Speaker 1: as huge as he is, he is a finesse player,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and that does not mean that he's soft. It doesn't
- 34:28Speaker 1: mean that he's not physical. But Dion Walker is agile.
- 34:32Speaker 1: He's a slasher, he's a penetrator. He's a move guy. Right.
- 34:36Speaker 1: He is trying to swim past guys on the snap.
- 34:39Speaker 1: He's trying to shoot gaps. And you can win with
- 34:41Speaker 1: that type of guy at nose. You can win with
- 34:45Speaker 1: those guys on the front. You can win with a penetrating,
- 34:47Speaker 1: movement based style. And you are going to see that
- 34:49Speaker 1: from Jim Leonard. Jim Lennard is going to run simulated pressures.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Jim Lennard's gonna run creepers, He's gonna run run blitzes
- 34:56Speaker 1: and run stunts. So you're gonna see movement. You're gonna
- 34:58Speaker 1: see a lot of movement designed to box an offense
- 35:03Speaker 1: and kind of define where the run lane is going
- 35:06Speaker 1: to be, where the alley is going to be. You're
- 35:08Speaker 1: gonna see movement kind of cut off space and make
- 35:10Speaker 1: an offense kind of playing a foam booth a little bit.
- 35:12Speaker 1: The issue with that is is doing that all the
- 35:16Speaker 1: time or having that be the way you stop the run.
- 35:20Speaker 1: It can work, but it's also risk reward. If you
- 35:23Speaker 1: stunt the wrong way at the wrong time or blitz
- 35:25Speaker 1: the wrong way at the wrong time, all of a sudden,
- 35:28Speaker 1: a hole becomes available that maybe it wasn't going to be,
- 35:31Speaker 1: or an alley becomes available that wasn't going to be,
- 35:33Speaker 1: Or you make a hole or an alley bigger than
- 35:36Speaker 1: it was going to be because you slanted it the
- 35:37Speaker 1: wrong way and you got got. It's just risk reward, right.
- 35:40Speaker 1: The same thing with like a blitz. If you bring
- 35:41Speaker 1: a blitz, any kind of blitz, and the offense picks
- 35:44Speaker 1: it up, you have less guys in coverage and now
- 35:46Speaker 1: all of a sudden, guys are open, Guys might be
- 35:48Speaker 1: running free. It's a risk reward type of deal. I
- 35:51Speaker 1: like being able to play a movement style type of defense.
- 35:54Speaker 1: I want run stunts and run blitzes, and I want movement,
- 35:57Speaker 1: and I want stunts, and I want guys doing gap
- 36:00Speaker 1: exchanges and scrape exchanges and everything. I want all of that.
- 36:03Speaker 1: But they also need to have the ability to just
- 36:07Speaker 1: have some ass kickers up front who aren't going to
- 36:10Speaker 1: get displaced, who aren't gonna get moved, who can sit there,
- 36:14Speaker 1: beat up offensive lineman, clog stuff up, muddy stuff up,
- 36:19Speaker 1: cancel gaps, squeeze gaps, constrict run lanes, and just be
- 36:23Speaker 1: a pain to play against. Right, They need that in
- 36:26Speaker 1: and of itself. You need that role because you don't
- 36:29Speaker 1: have it presently. One two. Doing that allows Dion Walker
- 36:36Speaker 1: to move all around the defensive line, which is where
- 36:40Speaker 1: and lean into more aspects of his game than I
- 36:42Speaker 1: think he's better suited for. I don't think he's best
- 36:44Speaker 1: suited to play nose one because of his frame and
- 36:47Speaker 1: his height and how tall he is and how he's built.
- 36:50Speaker 1: He's not built to just sit and eat a double
- 36:52Speaker 1: team and mitigate displacement and drop the knee and be
- 36:56Speaker 1: able to split a double and just not get knocked
- 36:58Speaker 1: back and anchor and hold the point of attack. That's
- 37:00Speaker 1: not what he's built to be. Again, he's a finesse guy,
- 37:03Speaker 1: he's a gap shooter. He's a movement type of player.
- 37:05Speaker 1: So having him I play that kind of role is not,
- 37:10Speaker 1: you know, setting him up for success, and it's kind
- 37:11Speaker 1: of doing a disservice to his skill set. But also
- 37:14Speaker 1: if he is the full time majority guy, it knows,
- 37:17Speaker 1: I don't think you're gonna play a displacement, mitigation, anchor
- 37:21Speaker 1: stone type of game. You're gonna have to play more
- 37:23Speaker 1: movement stuff kind of all the time, which is not ideal.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So if you get a true nose, you can rotate
- 37:29Speaker 1: walker in. It knows you can rotate walker in at four.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I you could even play him at five. You could
- 37:35Speaker 1: even get really crazy and stand him up at edge
- 37:37Speaker 1: sometimes and do some fun crazy stuff there, because he
- 37:40Speaker 1: did a lot of that at Kentucky, and he's only
- 37:42Speaker 1: I think, gotten healthier with the bills and shed some
- 37:45Speaker 1: weight and done some body recomposition. So I think that's fun,
- 37:50Speaker 1: but it's really just you need. You need to be
- 37:54Speaker 1: able to hold up against the run. And I know
- 37:57Speaker 1: we've said it for the past several years. Everybody's talked
- 37:59Speaker 1: about a one tech and having like a true run
- 38:01Speaker 1: stopping guy. It doesn't have to be a huge player,
- 38:05Speaker 1: doesn't have to be They don't have to be six
- 38:06Speaker 1: foot two, three hundred and thirty pounds. You just need
- 38:09Speaker 1: somebody who's forte is run defense. Right, I said it
- 38:14Speaker 1: this offseason. Give me I would I would have glad
- 38:16Speaker 1: he taken Roy Lopez, Give me Royal Lopez, Give me
- 38:18Speaker 1: Kyris Tonga. Even now I take DJ Reader. That will
- 38:22Speaker 1: be fine. You're still gonna Be're probably gonna sign deed
- 38:24Speaker 1: a Reader to a one year deal, so you need
- 38:25Speaker 1: to answer it next year or so on and so forth.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Kind of keep kicking that can down the road. You
- 38:30Speaker 1: need a true nose tackle who skews more towards run defense.
- 38:34Speaker 1: If you can get a nose that can play the
- 38:36Speaker 1: run really well and also give me some pass rush pop,
- 38:39Speaker 1: that would be doubly great. Part of the reason why
- 38:42Speaker 1: I like CAYD McDonald out of Ohio State is because
- 38:45Speaker 1: he has some knockback to his game. He has some
- 38:48Speaker 1: pop to his game. Is he a stud pass rush
- 38:52Speaker 1: type of guy? No? Is he a guy with a
- 38:54Speaker 1: ton of moves and a great bag where like okay,
- 38:57Speaker 1: like not only can he shut down the run, but
- 39:01Speaker 1: you know he's got all these moves, he's gonna be,
- 39:03Speaker 1: you know, a five to seven sack type of guy
- 39:06Speaker 1: on the interior. I don't think he's gonna be that.
- 39:08Speaker 1: He is just a strong plug and play you know,
- 39:12Speaker 1: no pun intended there, plug and play guy at defensive
- 39:14Speaker 1: tackle who will reset the line of scrimmage and kick
- 39:17Speaker 1: ass on the interior. But because he has some pop,
- 39:20Speaker 1: because he has some burst, because he has some power
- 39:23Speaker 1: and kind of explosion to his game a little bit
- 39:25Speaker 1: on the snap the same way he uses that to
- 39:27Speaker 1: impact the run. He can knock some centers back, he
- 39:31Speaker 1: can knock some guards back. He can reset the line
- 39:32Speaker 1: of scrimmage and affect the interior or the depth of
- 39:36Speaker 1: the pocket. And I think that provides some usefulness. So
- 39:41Speaker 1: for me, that would be a couple of people are
- 39:44Speaker 1: saying here, Kid McDonald, Yeah, so the question here, would
- 39:46Speaker 1: you consider a Caiden McDonald a run to the podium
- 39:49Speaker 1: player close? I if Cad McDonald is there, I don't
- 39:55Speaker 1: think I wouldn't say run to the podium, but if
- 39:57Speaker 1: Cad McDonald is there at twenty six, I would ladly
- 40:00Speaker 1: take Cad McDonald in a heartbeat. John Roberts Kate McDonald,
- 40:03Speaker 1: william says is a defensive tackle from Ohio State. McDonald
- 40:05Speaker 1: potential pick of twenty six. Yes, I think he is
- 40:09Speaker 1: one again because he's the type of nose who can
- 40:14Speaker 1: give you some knockback and some semblance of pass rush pop.
- 40:18Speaker 1: He's still seventy thirty run defense or maybe sixty five
- 40:24Speaker 1: thirty five, which is fine, right you play him in
- 40:28Speaker 1: on early downs. He's gonna be an ass kicker. He's
- 40:31Speaker 1: gonna allow Dion Walker to move around a little bit,
- 40:33Speaker 1: and he's gonna help keep Terrell Bernard clean. He's gonna
- 40:37Speaker 1: help keep whoever's next to Terrell Bernard clean. When you
- 40:40Speaker 1: go in your sub packages and you're playing four down,
- 40:42Speaker 1: he can kick in to a one tech and again
- 40:47Speaker 1: keep that second level clean the linebackers and the nickel
- 40:50Speaker 1: or if Cole Bishop is spinning down. I think Caden
- 40:52Speaker 1: McDonald is a force multiplier at the nose tackle spot,
- 40:55Speaker 1: and I would be comfortable taking him in round one. Now,
- 41:01Speaker 1: he's really the only defensive tackle I'm comfortable with taking
- 41:06Speaker 1: in round one. Caleb Banks I think is too much
- 41:08Speaker 1: of a question mark. Peter Woods I don't think is
- 41:11Speaker 1: the right fit from a skill set and a body
- 41:14Speaker 1: type standpoint and a play style standpoint. Could he sure,
- 41:17Speaker 1: but I don't think it's ideal. Cad McDonald the only
- 41:21Speaker 1: guy that I would really want. If the Bills don't
- 41:23Speaker 1: get Cad McDonald at twenty six again, I would love
- 41:26Speaker 1: for them to trade back at to like thirty three
- 41:28Speaker 1: and get Kate McDonald there if he's there. But I
- 41:31Speaker 1: have no problem taking Kid McDonald at twenty six. If
- 41:33Speaker 1: Kate McDonald isn't the guy at twenty six and you
- 41:36Speaker 1: still need a nose, I would love to get Dominic
- 41:40Speaker 1: go Orange at pick ninety one in the third round.
- 41:44Speaker 1: I don't know if he's gonna be there, but there's
- 41:48Speaker 1: a multitude of defensive tackles that i'd be cool with,
- 41:51Speaker 1: like in the third round. Like I like Domini Gorange.
- 41:54Speaker 1: He's higher on my board than other guys. John Roberts says,
- 41:56Speaker 1: what round would you take Daryl Jackson. Darryl Jackson I
- 41:59Speaker 1: think is a three guy as well. I mean, especially
- 42:01Speaker 1: from the Bills perspective, right, they don't have a second
- 42:03Speaker 1: round pick, so I'm not taking Daryl Jackson at twenty six.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I'll take Darryld Jackson at ninety one. I like Domini
- 42:10Speaker 1: Gorange more than Darryl Jackson, though, so I'd rather have
- 42:14Speaker 1: Domini Orange, although they're built completely differently, but I would
- 42:17Speaker 1: be fine with either. I just think that nose tackle
- 42:22Speaker 1: is a big need for the Buffalo Bills because it
- 42:25Speaker 1: allows Dion Walker to freelance at a multitude of spots.
- 42:30Speaker 1: And it's also a force multiplier because of the positive
- 42:33Speaker 1: impact it has on the rest of the defense, and
- 42:36Speaker 1: especially at the second level. It just enables you to
- 42:38Speaker 1: do so much. The Bills need an ass kicker at
- 42:42Speaker 1: knows whose skill set is based on stopping the run
- 42:46Speaker 1: and who's good at stopping the run. That doesn't mean
- 42:48Speaker 1: it has to be completely siloed. Again. They don't need
- 42:50Speaker 1: to have just a three hundred and thirty pound guy
- 42:52Speaker 1: who can't move because they're just gonna be like, hey,
- 42:54Speaker 1: just sit there and eat blocks. It does not have
- 42:57Speaker 1: to be that, right, And that's why I like Ky
- 42:59Speaker 1: McDonald's so much, and that's why I think Kate McDonald
- 43:01Speaker 1: would be a strong pick for them at twenty six
- 43:03Speaker 1: because he solves the run defense issues. It knows, and
- 43:07Speaker 1: he still offers you some semblance of pass rush pop. Right.
- 43:10Speaker 1: It's not an Alfred Collins situation from Texas last year
- 43:13Speaker 1: where he was like ninety five percent run in five
- 43:18Speaker 1: percent pass rush that might even be too high. He's
- 43:20Speaker 1: more like ninety eight percent run and two percent pass rush.
- 43:25Speaker 1: So I think that's such a huge point. You get
- 43:28Speaker 1: a true run defending knows that allows Walker to line
- 43:33Speaker 1: up at multiple spots on early downs moonlight. It knows
- 43:36Speaker 1: when you need him to, but it keeps him fresh.
- 43:38Speaker 1: He doesn't have to get worn down trying to stop
- 43:41Speaker 1: the run all the time because teams are going to
- 43:42Speaker 1: try and run the ball and the bills. And that's
- 43:44Speaker 1: not just because of the Bills. That is the league trend.
- 43:46Speaker 1: That is the meta for offenses. Running the ball matters
- 43:51Speaker 1: again in the NFL, and it matters from heavier personnel
- 43:55Speaker 1: and from downhill action runs like duo what you are
- 43:58Speaker 1: getting downhill and to knock defenders back north and south
- 44:02Speaker 1: and push them back vertically. Those runs are mattering again, right,
- 44:07Speaker 1: Gap scheme runs are coming back where you're trying to
- 44:09Speaker 1: downblock and you're trying to move guys, So you need
- 44:11Speaker 1: guys on the interior that can hold strong at the
- 44:14Speaker 1: point of attack, who can hold strong against double teams,
- 44:17Speaker 1: who aren't going to get displaced, who aren't going to
- 44:19Speaker 1: get moved, and who also can deconstruct blocks and read
- 44:23Speaker 1: blocking schemes. And Kate McDonald is that guy. And again
- 44:28Speaker 1: that's where the meta is. That's what the trend is.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Offenses are starting to run the ball. Offensers are going
- 44:33Speaker 1: heavy to run the ball. Some offenses go heavy to
- 44:35Speaker 1: throw the ball, like the Rams, but running the football matters. Again,
- 44:39Speaker 1: the Bills have not been able to stop the run
- 44:41Speaker 1: without just selling out and committing bodies to it the
- 44:43Speaker 1: past several years. So not only does running the ball
- 44:46Speaker 1: matter for everybody, but teams also know the Bills haven't
- 44:49Speaker 1: been able to stop the run. Different defense with Jim Leonard,
- 44:53Speaker 1: different scheme, different structure, some different players, but teams are
- 44:59Speaker 1: going to try and the football and the Buffalo Bills
- 45:01Speaker 1: and the Bills need to be able to stop the run.
- 45:02Speaker 1: It's been their achilles hell on defense the past couple
- 45:04Speaker 1: of years. And for those who say, you know, if
- 45:07Speaker 1: there's something I could be bad at you know, between
- 45:10Speaker 1: pass coverage or run defense. I'd rather be bad at
- 45:12Speaker 1: run defense. I hear you, and I understand that. But
- 45:15Speaker 1: that only works if you're like middling. Right, the Bills
- 45:19Speaker 1: haven't been a middling run defense. They've been a horrible
- 45:22Speaker 1: run defense, bottom of the barrel, bottom of the league
- 45:24Speaker 1: in a multitude of ways. Explosive runs, success rate, EPA, DVOA,
- 45:29Speaker 1: however you slice it, however you measure it, it's been
- 45:31Speaker 1: a weakness. And not only that, but how you defend
- 45:36Speaker 1: the run determines what coverages you can play. The most
- 45:41Speaker 1: basic way to think about it is if you have
- 45:43Speaker 1: to put a safety in the box because you need
- 45:45Speaker 1: numbers in the box and you need a safety down
- 45:47Speaker 1: in the box, that means you only have one safety deep.
- 45:50Speaker 1: That means you can only play single high coverages. That
- 45:52Speaker 1: means you're only playing Cover three and you're only playing
- 45:54Speaker 1: Cover one. Can't play Cover two, can't play Cover six,
- 45:58Speaker 1: can't play Cover eight, can't they cover four, can't play quarters,
- 46:01Speaker 1: can't do any of the two high stuff. If you
- 46:05Speaker 1: have to make sure safety is always down. If a
- 46:08Speaker 1: safety always has to be down, you can't play anyto
- 46:10Speaker 1: two high stuff. We're not even getting into the spacing
- 46:13Speaker 1: for the run game right, seven man spacing, eight man spacing,
- 46:16Speaker 1: kind of six man spacing, nine man spacing. We're not
- 46:19Speaker 1: getting in any of that. We're talking about just basic
- 46:21Speaker 1: coverage stuff. If you have to keep a safety down
- 46:25Speaker 1: and have them be a run fitter immediately, you only
- 46:29Speaker 1: have one one safety back. You can only play single
- 46:31Speaker 1: high coverages. And the single high coverages are Cover two. Sorry,
- 46:34Speaker 1: Cover one, There's two, Cover one and Cover three. That's it.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Cover one is man, Cover three is zone. Even if
- 46:39Speaker 1: you want to play some Cover three match, fine, it's
- 46:42Speaker 1: you can only play two coverages, Cover one and Cover three.
- 46:45Speaker 1: On the back end, as Lou says, you know the
- 46:48Speaker 1: proverbial quote you have to earn the right to rush
- 46:51Speaker 1: the passer, and Lou says, that's a phrase I hope
- 46:53Speaker 1: I never have to hear again thanks to being painfully
- 46:55Speaker 1: true one thousand percent. You need to stop the run.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Jim Leonard to talk talked about stopping the run, the
- 47:01Speaker 1: importance of stopping the run. The Bill's defensive line right
- 47:06Speaker 1: now is purely built for movement. If we are looking
- 47:10Speaker 1: at the Bill's defensive line in an odd front right now,
- 47:13Speaker 1: odd front, you know, meaning you know, three down, five down,
- 47:17Speaker 1: however you want to go. It's Ed Oliver at a
- 47:20Speaker 1: four eye or whatever like, however we want to label
- 47:22Speaker 1: wherever he's going to a line. He's kind of putting
- 47:24Speaker 1: into that tight front picture. It's at Oliver on the
- 47:28Speaker 1: inside shoulder of a tackle at a four eye. It's
- 47:31Speaker 1: Dean Walker over the center it knows, and then it's TJ.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Sanders or in my opinion, a heavier a little bit
- 47:38Speaker 1: heavier Landed Jackson at the other four eye. That is
- 47:41Speaker 1: not an interior three built to stop the run from
- 47:44Speaker 1: an anchor standpoint, hold strong at the point of attack, standpoint, displacement,
- 47:48Speaker 1: mitigation standpoint. It's a movement baits defense. Can you move sure?
- 47:52Speaker 1: Ed Oliver can slash, and Ed Oliver can even hold
- 47:54Speaker 1: his own a little bit at the point of attack.
- 47:56Speaker 1: But I don't want two hundred and eighty five pounds
- 47:58Speaker 1: at Oliver having a constantly hold the point of attack
- 48:01Speaker 1: on the interior, even at a four eye. So get
- 48:05Speaker 1: yourself a true run, skewed run, stopping nose tackle. Take
- 48:13Speaker 1: care of that. Allow dion Walker to moonlight and rotate
- 48:16Speaker 1: a little bit. Dion Walker gets to play some nose.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Dion Walker gets to play some four eye or some
- 48:20Speaker 1: five whatever we're doing. If we're doing some tight front stuff,
- 48:24Speaker 1: if we're doing some even four down stuff, if we're
- 48:27Speaker 1: doing some strong eagle type of stuff, cool, let dion
- 48:31Speaker 1: Walker line up in a multitude of spots. Dion Walker
- 48:33Speaker 1: having to be the full time nose, I think is
- 48:36Speaker 1: a disservice to dion Walker and not setting him up
- 48:40Speaker 1: for success with what his play style and skill set is. Again,
- 48:43Speaker 1: he's not soft, but dude is huge with not a
- 48:48Speaker 1: lot of bend, and that's not a guy who I
- 48:52Speaker 1: want having to mitigate displacement against the run on the interior.
- 48:58Speaker 1: He's nimble, he moves well, he's a slight he's a penetrator.
- 49:01Speaker 1: So we can play moving games with him at knows right.
- 49:03Speaker 1: We can line them up at center and have him
- 49:05Speaker 1: jump a gap or two right. But at a certain point,
- 49:09Speaker 1: at the end of the day, at a certain aspect,
- 49:11Speaker 1: you need to be able to just sit there and
- 49:13Speaker 1: line up across from the guy from the offensive lineman
- 49:16Speaker 1: across from you and say you're not moving me, I'm
- 49:19Speaker 1: gonna beat the hell out of you on the snap
- 49:21Speaker 1: and I'm not going anywhere, and that's what the Bills need,
- 49:24Speaker 1: it knows, and someone like Kay McDonald can do that
- 49:27Speaker 1: and also give you a little bit of pass rush
- 49:31Speaker 1: push a little What I like about Big Citrus aka
- 49:34Speaker 1: Dominique Orange out of Iowa State against somebody who I'm
- 49:37Speaker 1: there's a multitude in defensive tackles they could have targeted
- 49:40Speaker 1: in the second round. They don't have a second round
- 49:42Speaker 1: pick now. But what I like about Dominique Orange is
- 49:45Speaker 1: just the mobility in addition to you know, kind of
- 49:50Speaker 1: the low center of gravity that he has, so he
- 49:52Speaker 1: can play with leverage. He knows how to use it.
- 49:54Speaker 1: But he's also got some good lateral quickness and he
- 49:56Speaker 1: can scoop. He's got some chase down ability. So you
- 49:58Speaker 1: can play some movement and some penetration stuff with him,
- 50:01Speaker 1: or you can have them stay engage. Be a little
- 50:04Speaker 1: bit of a stone and a rock in the center
- 50:06Speaker 1: of your defensive line. But anyway you slice it, nose
- 50:09Speaker 1: tackle is a big need for this Bills team. I
- 50:12Speaker 1: would love for them to sign one as a free agent.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I would I would take DJ Reader at this point,
- 50:18Speaker 1: I'm a little bit out of the loop. Maybe Andrew
- 50:20Speaker 1: Billings is still available. I take Andrew Billings like, they
- 50:22Speaker 1: just need this role. They need this skill set. I
- 50:26Speaker 1: don't understand why they don't have it, and I holistically
- 50:29Speaker 1: trust in Jim Leonard, but I think they need this
- 50:34Speaker 1: role in and of itself. And then because it's a
- 50:37Speaker 1: force multiplier and helping Dion Walker and the second level,
- 50:40Speaker 1: so nose tackle is right up there. Next, I'm combining
- 50:45Speaker 1: these all as one and I cheat it so it's linebacker.
- 50:49Speaker 1: And then the next spot is all one four eye slash,
- 50:51Speaker 1: defensive end slash, interior, defensive line, and edge. I'm putting
- 50:56Speaker 1: all of these equal because I see them all. It's
- 50:59Speaker 1: all very in different levels and different degrees. Let's talk
- 51:02Speaker 1: about linebacker first, just because I haven't lifted here. Oh,
- 51:04Speaker 1: let me go back to this question. How would they
- 51:07Speaker 1: feel about the defense for twenty twenty six if they
- 51:10Speaker 1: got CJ. Allen at twenty six and Big Sitress at
- 51:12Speaker 1: ninety one. I don't love CJ. Allen. I wouldn't hate
- 51:16Speaker 1: that pick. I wouldn't love it. I would like Big
- 51:24Speaker 1: Stitus at ninety one. I wouldn't love CJ. Allen at
- 51:26Speaker 1: twenty six. I'm going to talk about him. Though, so
- 51:29Speaker 1: let's talk about linebacker. My thing with linebacker is, so
- 51:33Speaker 1: you need someone to start opposite of Terrel Bernard. If
- 51:35Speaker 1: we're looking at the linebacker grouping right now from an
- 51:38Speaker 1: inside standpoint, right, it's Terrel Bernard, it's Dorian Williams, it's
- 51:42Speaker 1: Joe Andreeson, it's Keanta Jenkins, and it's Jimmy Charlow. Right.
- 51:45Speaker 1: That is what we're looking at at your second level linebackers,
- 51:49Speaker 1: your interior linebackers. My thought with linebacker, I think you
- 51:55Speaker 1: can do better than Dorian Williams. I think Dorrian Williams
- 51:58Speaker 1: is good coming downhill. I think his length, his strength,
- 52:03Speaker 1: his physicality, the burst, his hand usage, it plays well
- 52:07Speaker 1: with him coming downhill. And I also think you could
- 52:09Speaker 1: maybe do some fun things with him, Like you can
- 52:10Speaker 1: walk him down as the end man on the line
- 52:13Speaker 1: of scrimmage and have him play a little bit of
- 52:15Speaker 1: a sam linebacker and have him set the edge and
- 52:17Speaker 1: play the run that way. Or you could have him
- 52:19Speaker 1: play the run as an inside linebacker in a three
- 52:21Speaker 1: to four and have him come downhill. The limitations with
- 52:25Speaker 1: him are I still think he's he's a work in
- 52:29Speaker 1: progress as a coverage player in a multitude of ways.
- 52:31Speaker 1: So he has improved in his time in the league
- 52:34Speaker 1: coming from Tulane, but he's still a work in progress
- 52:38Speaker 1: as a coverage player, and he doesn't have the rush
- 52:41Speaker 1: versatility in terms of being able to be a guy
- 52:44Speaker 1: that you can line up as the end man on
- 52:47Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage or as an edge and have
- 52:49Speaker 1: him be able to rush and beat a tackle with
- 52:52Speaker 1: like a pass rush move. Like he's not. That's why
- 52:55Speaker 1: you know to kind of juxtapose him with an inside
- 52:58Speaker 1: linebacker or a linebacker I wanted in free agency. He
- 53:01Speaker 1: doesn't have the pass rush chops of Leo Chanal or
- 53:04Speaker 1: Kaden ellis that type of inside linebacker who can play
- 53:08Speaker 1: inside linebacker, off ball linebacker in your base looks, then
- 53:12Speaker 1: can blitz off the edge rush against the tackle, beat
- 53:15Speaker 1: a tackle one on one, line up in an a gap,
- 53:18Speaker 1: do a multitude of spots. So it's it's the downhill thump,
- 53:21Speaker 1: it's the run presence, it's the coverage aspect, but it
- 53:25Speaker 1: is also some of the past rush ability that you
- 53:27Speaker 1: do or don't have when it comes to Dorian and
- 53:29Speaker 1: what I like at that linebacker spot. My biggest issue
- 53:32Speaker 1: with the linebackers that are going to be available for
- 53:35Speaker 1: the bills, Like, so someone who I really like. I
- 53:39Speaker 1: like Josiah Trotter myself and Russell Brown talked about him
- 53:42Speaker 1: on the show a couple of weeks ago. I'll probably
- 53:45Speaker 1: have him ranked ahead of C. J. Allen when all,
- 53:49Speaker 1: when all is said and done. But even if it's c. J. Allen,
- 53:51Speaker 1: even if it's Josiah Trotter, right, or even some other linebackers, right,
- 53:57Speaker 1: Josia Trotter is a good example because someone again who
- 53:59Speaker 1: I really like. But if you're gonna take Josiah Trotter early,
- 54:04Speaker 1: you might as well just stick with Dorrian Williams because
- 54:07Speaker 1: Josiah Trotter's strengths are I think he'll end up being
- 54:10Speaker 1: a better player than Dorrian Williams because of how he
- 54:12Speaker 1: sees the game, how he processes it. He understands angles.
- 54:16Speaker 1: He's really good at, like shaving angles and changing his
- 54:19Speaker 1: shoulder length and dipping underneath blocks past blocks in the
- 54:23Speaker 1: screen game lineman climbing to the second level. He's good
- 54:26Speaker 1: at diagnosing. But you're gonna line him up next to
- 54:30Speaker 1: Trerel Bernard. Say you draft Josiah Trotter, you're gonna line
- 54:32Speaker 1: him up next to Treu Bernard and you're gonna have
- 54:35Speaker 1: him play downhill as a thumper, but he's not gonna
- 54:39Speaker 1: line up on the edge and beat a tackle one
- 54:41Speaker 1: on one as a pass rusher. He's okay in coverage,
- 54:45Speaker 1: but coverage isn't a strength for him. So as much
- 54:50Speaker 1: as I like him, I'm not gonna take him with
- 54:52Speaker 1: an early pick because essentially he's just a higher ceiling
- 54:56Speaker 1: Dorrian Williams. I think he'll end up being better than
- 54:59Speaker 1: Dorrian Willia as we go forward, Like I think year
- 55:03Speaker 1: two Josiah Trotter, Year three Josiah Trotter, I think he'll
- 55:06Speaker 1: be a legitimate starter in the league. But it's just
- 55:10Speaker 1: more same same at this point. Again, I think you
- 55:13Speaker 1: want a linebacker there, Like, if you're going to get
- 55:15Speaker 1: a linebacker early, it's somebody like, okay, would you be
- 55:18Speaker 1: able to again, how can you get somebody as close
- 55:21Speaker 1: to Leoshanal or Caden Ellis that type of versatility at
- 55:28Speaker 1: linebacker like r vel rees would be great, Sunny styles
- 55:31Speaker 1: would be great. They're not getting either of those guys.
- 55:33Speaker 1: So then it comes down to, like, Okay, c J
- 55:35Speaker 1: L and Anthony Hill Trotter. If you like Jacob Rodriguez,
- 55:41Speaker 1: some people like gold a dude from Cincinnati, Like, there's
- 55:44Speaker 1: just a multitude of linebackers where their fit is gonna
- 55:48Speaker 1: be Okay, inside linebacker, come downhill, play the run right.
- 55:53Speaker 1: The Leo chan Caden Ellis type of linebacker is going
- 55:56Speaker 1: to be tough to find in this draft. So I
- 56:01Speaker 1: think linebacker is a big need. I would like Dorrin
- 56:04Speaker 1: Williams to be linebacker three instead of being a starter
- 56:08Speaker 1: alongside Torel Bernard. And I think they need more versatility
- 56:13Speaker 1: at the linebacker spot. I don't think they have enough depth.
- 56:17Speaker 1: I don't think they have a strong answer with their starters.
- 56:20Speaker 1: I think there's also questions around Trel Bernard. He's I'm
- 56:23Speaker 1: not even gonna get into Srel Bernard at this point
- 56:25Speaker 1: because he's a whole other He could be a whole
- 56:27Speaker 1: episode in and of himself. But I think you have star.
- 56:30Speaker 1: I think you have questions at linebacker in terms of
- 56:32Speaker 1: your starters. I think you have a questions at linebacker
- 56:34Speaker 1: in terms of your depth, and you have a ton
- 56:37Speaker 1: of questions in terms of your versatility. You just don't
- 56:40Speaker 1: have the hybridized players and skill sets at linebackers that
- 56:44Speaker 1: I think would really be ideal to maximize this Bill's defense. Again,
- 56:50Speaker 1: dudes like kay nellis like Leo Chanal. If you're looking
- 56:54Speaker 1: in the draft, someone like rvel Reeese Sonny Styles is awesome.
- 56:59Speaker 1: But somebody who can then again play downhill, process the run,
- 57:03Speaker 1: play the run from a gap, the sea gap, cover
- 57:06Speaker 1: a little bit, can walk down plays the m man
- 57:09Speaker 1: on the line of scrimmage against the run. But who
- 57:11Speaker 1: can also line up on the edge and rush the
- 57:13Speaker 1: quarterback and beat a tackle from now every now and again.
- 57:16Speaker 1: You don't have that at linebacker. You have some of
- 57:19Speaker 1: those pieces, you have some of those you know, some
- 57:21Speaker 1: eggs and some of those baskets or buckets, but you
- 57:23Speaker 1: don't have that holistically linebacker, I think is a legitimate
- 57:27Speaker 1: need for this team. I have it here because I
- 57:30Speaker 1: wanted to lead off with that, because I just think
- 57:33Speaker 1: the answers to help you early are essentially better versions
- 57:37Speaker 1: of Dorian Williams. So yes, you would get a better
- 57:40Speaker 1: player than Dorian Williams, especially for the future and potentially
- 57:43Speaker 1: even for twenty twenty six. But it still doesn't help
- 57:46Speaker 1: you with your versatility or the hybridized nature that you
- 57:49Speaker 1: need at the linebacker spot. That you're not gonna get
- 57:52Speaker 1: I would rather have Josiah Trotter next to Terrell Bernard
- 57:56Speaker 1: than I would Dorian Williams. Well, maybe not because a
- 57:58Speaker 1: rookie is still unproven, But Josiah Trotter, as much as
- 58:02Speaker 1: I like him, he's not helping with the hybridized nature
- 58:04Speaker 1: at linebacker that you need. Right He's not helping you
- 58:07Speaker 1: with the versatility, with all the things that ideally a
- 58:10Speaker 1: Jim Leonard linebacker can do. You're not getting that. So
- 58:13Speaker 1: if you're not getting that, why not just stick with
- 58:16Speaker 1: Dorrian Williams. That's kind of where I'm at at this point.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Draft a linebacker late, or sign some depth guys to
- 58:22Speaker 1: make sure you have a solid linebacker three and linebacker four,
- 58:24Speaker 1: bring back Shaq Thompson, go from there. But I just
- 58:29Speaker 1: don't think you're gonna the early guys, or even some
- 58:32Speaker 1: of the guys that can provide an answer are either
- 58:35Speaker 1: just slightly different versions of Dorry Williams or slightly better
- 58:38Speaker 1: versions or similar versions. And if that's the case, just
- 58:41Speaker 1: stick with Dory Williams and answer some other questions elsewhere. Now,
- 58:46Speaker 1: the next one, also on this tier, I have it
- 58:49Speaker 1: on the screen here. Four. I slash defensive end slash
- 58:52Speaker 1: interior defensive line. If we're looking at the Bills and
- 58:56Speaker 1: tier right now again from an odd from perspective, right,
- 59:00Speaker 1: if we're looking at so you know, let's let's let's
- 59:02Speaker 1: play this game and talk about it, right, your outside
- 59:06Speaker 1: linebackers or your edges, however you want to label them, right,
- 59:08Speaker 1: whatever verbiage you're comfortable with and trying to understand the
- 59:11Speaker 1: change right talking about it on front, talking about a
- 59:14Speaker 1: five down front. Your end men on the line of
- 59:17Speaker 1: scrimmage are Greg Russou and Bradley Chubb. Okay, inside of
- 59:23Speaker 1: them on one side will be at Oliver the other
- 59:27Speaker 1: side as of right now, TJ Sanders or like I
- 59:32Speaker 1: talked about Landon Jackson and then on the interior knows
- 59:34Speaker 1: it's Deon Walker. The Bills legitimately need a starting defensive
- 59:42Speaker 1: end or player inside your end men on the line
- 59:45Speaker 1: of scrimmage. If you want to call it a four I, if
- 59:46Speaker 1: you want to call it a defensive end interior defensive lineman,
- 59:50Speaker 1: I don't care. I'll throw out the verbage to kind
- 59:52Speaker 1: of cover all bases, right, But that player that's going
- 59:55Speaker 1: to play, you know your you know your b gap player,
- 59:59Speaker 1: the person who's laying on the inside tackle or the
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: inside shoulder of a tackle, or in that B gap
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: or in a three tech spot, whatever you got right,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: that B gap player. Right now, you're looking at TJ.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Sanders and at Oliver as your starters quote unquote. Now
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I've said this before. I'm gonna say it again on
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: the show to kind of cement it. My preference. I'm
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: cool with that Oliver starting at one of those defensive
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: end spots. Okay, the other one. I would like Landon
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Jackson to put on five to ten pounds, and I
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: would start Landon Jackson at the other defensive end spot
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: over TJ. Sanders. Landon Jackson has the length, he has
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: the play style. He plays the run like a menace.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: He understands how to use his hands. He's physical, he's violent,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: He's played heavier before at Arkansas. I would have him
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: put on some more weight, and I would have him
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: play that four eye. I think he is land and Jackson.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: What I didn't like about land and Jackson was him
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: is an edge player. Him is like a four to
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: three defensive end or a true edge. He's high cut,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: he doesn't have a lot of great change of direction
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: or lower body bend or mobility there. So I thought
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: he was limited in what he could be in the NFL.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: But as an odd front defensive end, if he can
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: play a little heavier, his skill set works so good.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: He's mean, he's nasty, he's an ass kicker. He knows
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: how to play with leverage, he knows how to use
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: his hands in his length, and he plays the run
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: willingly and he wants to. And I think he's a
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: dude who can come up the works. I would have
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: him put on some pounds and start over TJ. Sanders
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: at that other defensive end spot. I keep referring to
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: it as the four eye, but again four eye defensive
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: end in to your defensive line, whatever you want to,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: whatever you want to label it as. Or again, like
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: we talked about earlier, get yourself a true nose guy
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: who can eat those run defense snaps right on early
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: downs and put Dian Walker at a four eye that
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: is also super funk, and then you could do a bunch
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: of stuff. Deon Walker could play knows every once in
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: a while on some early downs. He could play four
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: eye on some early downs. You can play four eye late.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: He could play on the interior and your sub package
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: looks when you go with an even front, or he
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: could play outside a lot of fun things. You could
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: play Dion Walker at four I, Charles says, I think
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Frederium Mathis can give some reps a nose tackle on
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: he blocks, that's what he did at Bama. I think
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: he could. I just don't think he's a Fanarium Mathis.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Isn't it for me? Isn't a top two nose tackle
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: on a winning football team, or if he is, it's
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: because you're loaded at the rest of your defensive line.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I think he's a dude who still gets moved around
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: a little too much. I think he's a fine depth guy.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: I think he's a fine four. Mainly, maybe he can
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: moonlight as a three or a guy that you're calling
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: up if there's injuries like they have been in the past.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I don't think he's a horrible player. I think he
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: can be useful. I just don't think he is starting capable,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: starting caliber. I should say, I don't think Fanarium Mathis
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: is the guy that we're gonna put Frederium Mathis in
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: for twenty snaps a game on first and second down,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: so we can let walk or do other stuff. Is
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: it the worst case? Worst case? No? Is it a
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: good answer for me? No? Again, if Fidarium Mathis is
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: like a top two guy on your roster at any
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: position on the defensive line, for me, that would have
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: to be the case because you're loaded elsewhere, like you've
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: just got like five to six guys who were absolute studs,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: and then you also have Frederium Mathis. So when he's
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: in there, it's like, well, yeah, have a look who
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: he's playing next to. So everything's fine, but you know,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: fair Again, I don't think he's a bad player, and
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: he did. He have some flashes, which are nice. I
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: just don't think he's built to be a top two
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: guy on a roster, which is what he would be,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: right if he's getting starting reps or some meaningful reps
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: that knows in this Bill's defense, that means he's top
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: two at NOS with somebody else. So again, I think
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: that four I spot is really really intriguing. I don't
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: think you can go into the season with TJ. Sanders
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: as your starring four I or is your defensive end
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: in to your defensive lineman, however you want to label it.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: I think he's much better suited to just be a
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: rotational three tech in an even front, one gapping penetrating defense.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I think his fit is questionable in this new Bills defense.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: We'll see what weight he plays at. We'll see, you know,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: what kind of what the coaching does for him, how
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: he can adjust a little bit. But again, if I
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: if push comes to shove right now, I'm trying to
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: have Landon Jackson put on some more weight and I'm
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: putting him above TJ. Sanders in that spot on the
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: depth chart. But again, if you get a true nose,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: this is why I talked about earlier. Right, why have
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: nose tackles so high? Because it's a need in and
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: of itself, but it also lets Walker do some other
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: fun stuff. And it also helps you answer this question
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: at four I right, because then you can put Walker
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: at four Ie, you can do some fun stuff there. Yeah,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I think that's a big need. Someone who I really like,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: and this is someone who I would take later. I
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: think someone mentioned him in the chat earlier. I like
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Grayson Halton from Oklahoma defensive tackle in their scheme. I
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: don't like him as more of like a true defensive tackle.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: But for the Bills, give him, give him to me
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: as a four eye I would take him in the
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: third round. I'd take him at pick ninety one. If
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: he's there, give me Grayson Halton right now, like if
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I could, if you could, give me Caiden McDonald at
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: twenty six. Again, if the Bills don't trade back, I
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: want them to trade back from twenty six, but if
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: they have to make all their picks where they're current,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: where they currently are, give me Caid McDonald at twenty
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: six and give me Grayson Halton at ninety one. And
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: I'm happy. I'm starting Grayson Halton at four I or
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I'm putting him into that rotation and that mix. I'm
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: putting McDonald at knows cool or again, if you take
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: a true nose or you get a true nose, you know, hey,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: maybe you signed DJ Reader and you draft Kaden McDonald
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: and then you move Dean Walker to four eye. Like
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: there's all these possibilities of what they could do in
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: a multitude of ways, but that four eye spot is needed.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Someone again who I like in the draft for that.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I like Grayson Holton for that. Someone even later, you know,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I think Rayshawn Benny from Michigan is a possibility there.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: What's fun with the Bills defense now is like the
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: interior defensive lineman, like it's there's more options are open
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: for them there. Now you're looking an interior defensive lineman
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: where you're not just looking at three texts and one text.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: You're looking at guys who could be a nose guy
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: who could be a four eye or a guy who
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: could be a three or one in certain looks. You
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: know they can they play as a defensive end or
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: is a four eye and the odd front stuff, But
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: then can they also kick into a one or three
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: if we go with a four down even front and
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: some sub package stuff. I think there's a world of
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: opportunity there. Charles, Yeah, Charles, you mentioned a couple weeks ago, Charles,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: you like christmac clennan, defensive tackle out of Miszoo Russ
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Russell Brown mentioned him a couple weeks ago as well.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Pop says, where there're no nose tackle free agents they
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: could have signed, Oh, there absolutely were. They could have
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: had Roy Lopez, they could have had Kiris Tonga. Maybe
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: they tried. Maybe those guys got more money elsewhere, Maybe
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: they didn't care what money they got. Maybe the Bills
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: offered them more money, but they didn't care and they
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: wanted to go elsewhere. Maybe the Bills didn't try to
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: get guys like that at all. But yeah, there there
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: was a multitude of nose tackles that were available on
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: the free agent market the Bills did not get. Again,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: I'm not saying that means the Bills didn't try to
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: get them. Maybe the Bills did, maybe they didn't. Maybe
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: they had the best offer. Maybe the guys didn't care.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Roy Lopez went back to Arizona. Maybe the Bills offered
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: him more money and more term and he said, oh,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: I appreciate it, but I want to go back Arizona.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: So I'm going to Arizona. Or maybe they didn't offer
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: him at all. I don't know, But yeah, they there
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: were some free agents they could have signed. There still are.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: They could sign DJ Reader. I believe he's still out there.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Andrew Billings is an option. Again, get yourself a true nose.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: But yeah, that four eyed defensive end into your defensive
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: line spot, I think is real interesting. And again on
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: the other side, I like Ed Oliver. Ed Oliver has
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: injury issues and injury concerns. And again, if he's gonna
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: play that spot in an odd front. You know he's
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: gonna get a bunch of doubles. He's gonna be battling
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: against the run. Like, there's gonna be more physicality in
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: this defense for Ed Oliver than there was under mcdermot's
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: with him playing in a four down even front, So
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: how does he hold up against that? So this spot
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I think is just a really interesting one. That's why
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: if you get a true nose again, you can help
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: supplement that spot by having Dean Walker play there a
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: little bit. You can have Landon Jackson put on some
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: weight and play there as well. He actually might be
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: able to handle it even at the current weight that
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: he was at with giving his play style on how
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: many is But then you got to draft a guy
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: as well. So Grayson Halton is a dude who I love.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I think he'll be there at pick ninety one, I hope.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: But just trying to throw some names out there for
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: multi spots they need that edge. Edge is interesting as
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: well for multitude of reasons. If Michael Hole I'll start,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: I'll put preface it like this, If Michael Hoyt was
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: completely healthy, I think the Bill's edge room is fine,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: and I don't say that as like again like a
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: passive aggressive, like negative comment. It's fine, Rousseau, Chubb, Hoyt
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: is a fine edge grouping. I personally would like some
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: more juice and pop and proven, you know, edge one
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: pass rush type stuff in that grouping in a top three,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: But that group is fine. Like sincerely, I know my
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: voice went high there, but that group is fine. That
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: group is fine. The question is what version of Michael
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Hoyt are you going to get. He's coming off of
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: that injury. I think it's a lot to ask of
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: him to be the same level of player that he
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: was in twenty twenty five coming off of that Achilles
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: injury this year. So you're looking at edge right and
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: as we chalk it up right now with how I'm
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: looking at it again, Landon Jackson is not going to
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: be an edge in this defense. I think he's more
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: of an interior player defensive end player there. So that
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: means that your edge spots, you know, your top four
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: edge is even if Michael Hoyt was healthy. You're looking
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: at Rousseau, you're looking at Chubb, you're looking at Hoyt,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: you're looking at Javon Solomon, and then Andre Jones junior.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Like Javon, I think the idea of Javon Solomon is fun.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: He's very much unproven, and even with the Bills needing
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: edge players last year, granted, I think he's better suited
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: to be, you know, three four outside linebacker slash edge
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: than he is a four to three edge or defensive end.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: So I think this this schematic shift in defense helps him,
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: but he's very much unproven. I don't know if Javon
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Solomon is even built to be an edge four and
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: see regular reps. But on top of that, again, you
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: don't know what you're getting with Michael Hoyt, So you
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: kind of need an edge who can be an edge
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: three for you at worst this year right now, and
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: then if Hoyt is good to go, now all of
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: a sudden, you have a cool top four. You've got
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: some rookie alongside Hoyt and Chubb and Groot, you're good
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: to go. But if Hoyt is more of like a
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: three and a half or a four, he's working his
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: way back. Cool, you got somebody who's a three and
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: you're solid. I just you can't go into the season
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: with Groot, Chubb, Hoyt Solomon. I don't think that works.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: You need somebody ahead of that now also within that Ideally,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: for me, I would like there to be more juice,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: more bend, more pop at the edge spot. As Tristan
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: says in the comments, he says Malachi Lawrence, I would
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: take Malachi Lawrence. I like Malachi Lawrence. You need an
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: ideal world. You need some pop, you need some juice.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: I saw some comments about Casius Howell earlier. Cassius Howl
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: was super fun. He's a crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy crazy
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: outlier with his arm length and his size and just
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: there's so many questions with him, like you kind of
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: only have to play him on the open side of stuff,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: which means the non tight end side, and even if
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: you're playing on the open side, if teams run to
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: that side, it's still dicey and worrisome. He's almost a
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: pure designated pass rush kind of guy, which could work
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: because you've got chubb and you've got grout, but I don't.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: I think there's questions to how effective he can be
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: as a pass rusher because of his frame and his
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: arm length. But dude has crazy ben crazy get off
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: and he plays at a thousand miles an hour, and
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: he's got some veloci raptor to him, which is cool.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: But I in an ideal world, the Bills would get
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: some pop or some juice at that edge spot. Now,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: the good news is, I think there's a multitude of
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: guys even if you're not going for juice or pop
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: or whatever, like, there's a multitude of guys that they
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: can get the job done. You know. I think t J.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Parker can be a fine player. I think Zion Young
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: can be a fine player. I think Gave Actis can
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: be a fine player. I really like Malachi Lawrence. You
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: can kind of bank on the upside or the traits
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: of Danny Dennis Sutton from Penn State. And again that's
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: just the name a few, you know. Or you could
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: go with Jayshn Barm from Michigan and then you kind
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: of have a guy who can play some inside linebacker
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: off all a little bit and some guy who can
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: play edge a little bit. Again, I like Malachi Lawrence.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I'm not in a position right now to say if
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: I would take Malachi Lawrence at twenty six, but I
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: do like Malachi Lawrence a good chunk. But Edge is
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: in need for this Bill's team, and then again even
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: you know, going past twenty twenty six, it is you know,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Hoyt was only here on a three year deal. You
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: want to see how he comes back from the Achilles injury.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: But you know, what does he look like in twenty
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: twenty six? What is he look like in twenty twenty seven?
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Is he a type of guy where you're good for
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: the long haul? You still have to kind of work
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: around that. What kind of effectiveness do you get from Chubb?
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: If we're looking at Hoyt right now, he does have
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: a potential out next offseason from a dead cap standpoint,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: especially if you designate him as a post June first release,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: you can save six point three mil and only have
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: a dead cap hit of eight hundred nineteen twenty twenty seven,
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: and then one point six and twenty twenty eight. So
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: is hoy a cut candidate at this point next year?
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Like you you need you need an Edge three for
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: twenty twenty six because you don't know what Chub is
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: gonna be. And as you know, as Argie says, I
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: think it's a need, but it's more backup for Edge
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Group Chubb, Hoyt and a draft pick as a solid
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: edge group fair, But you don't know what version of
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Michael Hoyt you're gonna get. You don't know how effective
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: Michael Hoyt is gonna be. So Michael Hoyt can be
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: the three, But what kind of three is that? If
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: it's the Michael hoyd from last year, you're fine. I
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: just think that's a lot to ask. You know, Achilles injuries,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: especially the one he had, you really don't start to
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: get to be yourself again until you're like a full
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: year removed and being healthy. So it's really like a
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: two year injury. So I we might not see that Michael,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: We might not see that twenty twenty five Michael Hoydt again,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: but odds are will see him in twenty twenty seven
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: more so than we'll see him in twenty twenty six,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: even if he plays in twenty twenty six. So I
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: just don't think you can count on that. And then again,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: you know, depending on the year he has this year,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: maybe they clip him next year. And now all of
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: a sudden it's like, okay, you do need an edge
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: three because Hoyd is gone. What happens with Chubbes group
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: progress like either way, even with this group it's a
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: solid edge group, a group that I'm fine with, but
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: you still don't have a Batman as a pass rusher.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: All of these guys are like different combinations and versions
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: of like Robins and night Wings. That example I continue
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: to use, which I love. I pat myself on back
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: for that. Again. If Hoyd is healthy, group Chubb, Hoyt
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: and a draft pick is a solid edge group. Right
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: if Michael Hoyd was completely healthy, defensive end is more
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: of a Day three need for me. Take somebody in
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: round four and I'm fine with that. But because Hoyd
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: is a question mark, and that question mark can extend
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: into next year and what the rest of the group
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: looks like now, Edges is a big need to the
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: point that if they took an Edge at twenty six,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: I don't think that's crazy. Edge is another reason why
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I'd love to trade back from twenty six and get
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: another Day two pick, so that way you can have
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: three Day two picks and you can get your some
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: combination of Edge, Nose and four I somewhere in that mix. Yeah.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I would like to see Edge addressed, and they need it.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Joey says, we've been drafting Edge the last four years.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Just wish we'd hit a little more there with these picks.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: One thousand percent. Defensive line is a year ever is
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: in need every year for this team, and it is
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: wildly frustrating. It makes me want to throw something through
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: a window, Dave. Every year, going back to the times
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: where they're bringing in like Mario Addison and Quentin Jefferson
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: and all these guys, every year, we're talking about defensive
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: line every year. We're talking about the interior and the
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: edge every every year. Even without the scheme change, we
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: were gonna be talking about it again this year. Even
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: McDermott and the defense state, we were gonna be talking
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: about it again. We're just gonna be talking about different
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: body types and skill sets and roles. Every year. Defensive
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: line is in need. Not just edge, it's defensive line
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: every year, but yeah, edge in particular. I'm so tired
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: of having this friggin conversation every year. You're spot on, Joey.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Every year we do this dance and we have to
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: get defense. And then every year everybody's mad that the
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: mock drafts are showing all this defense because well, every
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: year we get defense. They need defense because they don't
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: hit on these guys. Sorry, I'll stop frustrating, but yeah,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: I think the all of these it's all muddy. And
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: the reason I put them all on one tier linebacker
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: and again the four eye defensive end tier, defensive line, spot,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: and edge. I think these all kind of play off
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: of one another because again, linebacker is an interesting one too, right,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: Like if you had Kaiden Nellis or you had Leo
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Chanl right then I kind of think, Okay, you have
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: a starting linebacker who also can kind of function in
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: the edge room on the outside, and maybe they could
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: also be your edge four. And now it's not as
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: much of a need. Like if you have the right
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: hybridized players and the right skill sets in Jim Leonards
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: defense in an odd front hybridized front, in a multiple
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: front defense like Jim Leonards, which is the defense that
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I love, and the type of schematic instructure that I
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: prefer in a defense for this reason and a multitude
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: of others. If you have those skill sets and those
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: traits and those roles and those body types, it allows
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: you to bleed into all these different spots, bleeding a positively.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: You've got somebody who's a linebacker who's also an edge.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: You've got somebody who's a defensive end or a four
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: eye but also an edge. You can work into all
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: these spots, somebody who's a nose but who also might
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: be a defensive end. You've got all these guys who
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: can wear these hats at effective levels, at above average levels,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: which is fun. And the Bills don't have that at linebacker.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: They don't really have it anywhere else. But again, it's
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: it's a process, right, Jim Leonard just took over new scheme,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: new structure, new identity, not a ton of cap space,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: not a ton of draft capital. It takes time. But yeah,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I think these ones in particular, they all kind of
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: affect one another. It's a little bit of a chain
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: reaction or a domino effect in a multitude of ways.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: With linebacker the four eye slash defensive end slash, tier,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: defensive line, spot and edge, and honestly really even knows
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: techle as well. But those those ones are my top.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: I put nose and then a tier right below linebacker.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Four eye slash defensive end slash and tier defensive line
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: and edge are all right there. I put them evenly.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: The next one I want to go over safety, say, oh,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: good answer from zesty smooth says, I want a Batman
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: and a red hood on the edge. Sick answer. I
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: kind of any want. That's no where to go but
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: down from here. Great great comment, great comment, great comment. Safety.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Safety is an interesting one, not too much to dive
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: into because I've talked about it so much already this
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: off season. But I think Chauncey Gardner Johnson is more
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: of like a patchwork band aid paper answer for this year.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: I don't know if he's the long term guy. He
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: hasn't really had a consistent home in the past several years,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: though he's been in Philly multiple times. You know, what
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: kind of what version of Chauncey Gardner Johnson are you
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: gonna get? I don't even think he knows. I like
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: him as a player. I love the volatility and the
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: violence and the sand paper attitude and just what he brings.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: He's mean, he's nasty, he's tough, he's violent. He plays
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: with an edge and a nastiness that I think this
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Bill's defense is needed for years, which is you know,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: if you search my Twitter name and his name, you
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: will see me advocating for him going back several years.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: I think you can fit with col Bishop. I think
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: he can do some of the post safety stuff and
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: some of the downhill stuff. I think he's the right
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: brand of you know, skill set and nasty. I think
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: you could do better than him, But I think he's
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: fine as a guy that they grabbed late in free
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: agency on a one year deal. Cool. There's also a chance,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: as Pops's comment says, over under for how long until
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: he joins the new team. There's also a chance that
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: he beats up somebody or gets into a fight in
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: May or June or July or August and is off
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: the team. There's a chance that he wants out in
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: September or October like he did with the Texans. You
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: just don't know. And even if everything works out, if
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: he's awesome like he has been and multiple times in
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: his career, he's on a one year deal, does he
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: play awesome and hearlays that into a better contract next
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: year and he's only with the Bills for one year
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: and he cashes in somewhere else. I just think safety,
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: there's a chance that you're gonna need a starter opposite
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: of Cole Bishop this year, just because maybe Garner Johnson
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: gets hurt, maybe he leaves and then it's like, Okay,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: are we pairing Geno Stone with Cole Bishop? Are we
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: gonna roll with Jordan Hancock? Is it to mar Hamlin?
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: And then again even beyond that, beyond twenty twenty six,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Geno Stone is on one year, mar Hamlin is on
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: in one year. CJGJ. Johnson, Garner Gardner Johnson is on
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: a one year is it Jordan Hancock? Like, there's some
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: questions that have to be answered at safety, right. I
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: think they got Chauncey with the idea of him being
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: the start of this year, but again, he's volatile in
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: good and bad ways, and at the end of the day,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: he's on a one year deal, So we could be
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: sitting here at this point next year having to find
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: another safety to pair with Cold Bishop. I think Chauncey
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: pair is fine. I think he has enough range in
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: processing deep to be fine and being the single high
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: post safety to Cold Bishop's down safety. And I think
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Cold Bishop can do enough as a single high post
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: safety that you know, CJ. Garner Johnson can play down
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: a little as well, which is cool and also fits
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: kind of what he does, which has been like, uh,
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: you know, deep safety, a box safety, a slot Nickel
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: kind of dude, like he's a good blitzer, he's violent,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: just and he get him anywhere around the line of
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: scrimmage is also fun. But I think safety is an
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: interesting one. I don't think there's safety is tough for
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: me because there's other needs that I think Trump's safety,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: but safety is also up there. I can't close the
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: kind of even I just don't think safety can be
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: put in the same tier as the other ones we
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: just spoke up because I think you need legitimate starters
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: on the defensive line and up front overall in the front,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: like you can get away with just having a top
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: three of CJ. Gardner, Johnson, Cold Bishop and Gino Stone
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: and then the fourth is Hancocker, Hamlin or whatever. Right
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: you can get away with that, which is why safety
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: it got knocked down a peg for me. But if CJ.
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Gardner Johnson gets injured, things get scary. If Cold Bishop
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: gets injured, it gets scary. And again you still need
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: answers to twenty twenty seven and beyond. I like a man.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: You will make me a Warren to answer your comment
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: in the chat, John Robert, I don't know if I
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: like him at twenty six. I like Blud Clark. I
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: would take blood Blood. Oh, Blood Clark is a badass name.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: I would take Bud Clark at ninety one safety out
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: of TCU. I like to answer Charles's question, I like
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: aj Hals. Jalen Kilgore. I think is more of a
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: big nickel than he is a true safety. But I
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: like some of the stuff that Jalen Kilgore does. I
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: kind of put this r J says, you have to
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: remember this safety draft classes phenomenal. They should still draft
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: of safety this year just for that fair but still
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: even for like a quote unquote phenomenal, I don't one.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I don't think it's phenomenal. I think there's a lot
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: of useful to good players at safety this year.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: But.
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: What's the odds that they're all effective NFL players? At
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: the end of the day, the draft is still a crapshoo.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: For me, a person who loves the draft, it's still
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: a crapshoot. You're still not going to get any semblance
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: of a guarantee. There could be twenty five safeties taken
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: in this draft. How many of them are gonna end
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: up being good? How many of them are going to
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: be effective players at the NFL and for how long
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: we don't really know, but I do think the safety
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: class is useful. Someone else who I really like late
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: as a Day three guy. I really like Bishop Fitzgerald
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: safety out of USC. Before anybody asks, I'm matt On
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Kamari Ramsey safety from USC. He's not bad, but I
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: like Bishop Fitzgerald more and I think he gets somebody
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: who they could get on Day three early j three.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: I like that. So yeah, But so I'm cool with
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: a multitude of safeties. I like aj Halsey, I like
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Bud Clark. Let me just go through all of my
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: kind of my Nope, that's the free agency tracker. I
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: have wootz. Where's my safety grouping? I like Bishop Fitzgerald,
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I like AJ Halsey, I like Bud Clark, I said,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: I like Emmanual MacNeil, Warren Genesis Smith. I love his range,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: and I love what he is is a single high
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: post safety and coverage. But he seems like he's allergic
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: to tackling. And maybe there's something I don't know behind
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: the scenes. I know he had a banged up foot,
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: maybe that was impacting everything. But man, coming downhill and
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: just having any semblance of physicality as Attackler is really
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: rough for him and really not great in a multitude
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: of ways. So that scares me a little bit. But
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: I do think there's a multitude of useful safeties. I
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: don't think I really want to take one in round
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: one again, even if it's theenem in, even if it's
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Manuel McNeil Warren, if it's one of those guys, would
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: I hate it? No? Would I love it?
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: No?
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: But yeah, but there's a lot of there's a lot
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: of usefulness at safety. Uh. The you can kind of
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: get it more on day two than I think day three,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: but even you know, some Day three guys a little
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: bit as well going through Let's go through his own comments,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: TCMP seven and six says, if you checked out, Cole
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: was newsky only and kind of like I have him
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: in my next crop of guys to get through its safety.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: I've only watched him in passing as watching like Jacob
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: and watching Rodrie as Lee Hunter. Yeah, yeah, from Texas Deck.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: I've only seen him in kind of like passing while
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: watching Rodriguez Hunter and David Bailey. He's in my next
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: batch of dudes. VJ. Payne from Kansas State is in
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: my next batches. Well, I've seen him a little bit
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: while watching guys playing against Kansas State's defense. Robert Jennings
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: is interesting from Oklahoma. I'm assuming you mean Robert Spears
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Jennings from Oklahoma. I just I feel like he's too
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: much of a straight line player and I questioned the
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: movement aside from that, but he comes downhill in a herd.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: He's got some physicality to him, and I like Brett
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Venable's defense at Oklahoma. So safety is an interesting one,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: like and then again safety is another one too, Like
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: if you're taking a day three safety, do you kind
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: of want to just ride with who you have? I
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: don't think that's terrible. If they could get Bishop Fitzgerald
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: the safety from USC on day three, I would take
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: that in a heartbeat. But yeah, safety is a sneaky
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: one where like it's not an immediate need right now,
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: but it also kind of is, but it also isn't,
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: but it also is. And then it's like it is
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: in need in twenty twenty seven, So it just stacks
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: and mounts and goes from there. So safety is interesting.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: This next one I'm putting together, I put wide receiver
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: and corner together. I'm gonna talk about corner. First talked
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: about it a little bit earlier in the intro. I're
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: the lead, and we did a lot of questions, thoughts, comments,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: the concerns from the chat. CB three is a legitimate
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: need for the Buffalo Bills right now. If we are
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: looking at the depth chart, CB three and four are
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: Dorian Strong and Darryl Porter Junior. Yes, d Alford their
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: nickel corner they got from the Falcons can play a
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: little bit on the outside. But if he has to
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: play on the outside, that means you need someone to
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: replace him at nickel or you're gonna have to use
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: a different sub package. If d Alford gets hurt, that
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: means you're starting Nickel is down and your CB three
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: is down. They need to This comment here from TCMP
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: who says, we need another boundary dB. If we can't
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: get Tray White back Strong, it is definitely not coming
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: back this year. Yeah, like Dorian Strong could play this year,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: he could not play this year. He might never play
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: football again. So the Bills legitimately need a CB three
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: in and of itself, Like that's a legitimate need. Add
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: it on top of the fact that corner is a
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: premium position. Add in to the fact that it's a
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: position that gets banged up easily, like almost all positions
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: in the NFL, and even just the fact of as
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: somebody mentioned earlier, like we still technically don't know about
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Max Hairston. We don't have a large sample size. He
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: could be better this year. He could be the same,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: he could be worse. He could get hurt again. Benford
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: is at injury is a different point right at different points,
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: Like a cushion in the playoffs a couple years ago
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: was really scary. He's played a pretty much like fourteen
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: to fifteen games a year the past several years, but
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: you know he's had injuries before. You need corner depth.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: You should be taking a corner, an offensive line and
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: defensive line or the positions like you should. You should
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: just just take every year, no matter what, whether it's
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: day two, day three, early like yearsould just be taking those, right,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: they're guys, You always need corners, You always need offensive line,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: You always need defensive line always always always man CB
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: three like it is a legitimate need. I can't rank
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: it over edge or nose or the four ey defensive end.
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: Toe your defensive line spot again, because those guys are
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: you need known rotation guys because you're gonna rotate those spots.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: You need actual like starters or high end rotational guys.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: CB three is more an insurance policy and depth, but
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: you still need it. It's it's kind of scary, but yeah,
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: they need it. I would say, as already says, wherever
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: our CV three is, they'll start twelve games. Oh it's
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: a good question. TCMP says, would you be disappointed if
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: we went dB in the first round, Like, oh, I
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: gave Ian Terrell from Clemson. If we go best available man,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: I if they go corner in the first round, I
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: would not be pleased, just because I think there's bigger
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: fish to fry on the team. That being said, Terrell
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: is pretty sick, and I mean he's sweet. Like I,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: it's hard to be upset when you get a good
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: football player like I think Avian Terrell is a legitimate
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: sick corner and is a good football player. It's just
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: it's just tough with how this roster is constructed. You
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: just took a corner in Round one last year, so
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: now you have like Benford's a CB one and then
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: you have like two CB twos, but you still have
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: big questions that edge knows the other rest of the
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: defensive line backer safety. Still, I wouldn't I wouldn't like it,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: but it would hard for me. It would be hard
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: for me to be really upset because I think Avian
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: Terrell is sweet. That's a really good question. John Robert says,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: we also have to Corey Couch with the Pricte quad. Yes,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: mind me, Hurricane alum, I like to Corey Couch. I
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: just I just think he's athletically limited and that's gonna
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: be tough for him to be like a regular NFL.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: I think it's tough for It's gonna be tough for
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: him to play regular, meaningful and impactful snaps in the NFL.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: But I would love him too because he was sick
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: at Miami and I'm a Hurricanes guy. Charles says, don't
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: you think the Bills are just waiting till after the
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: draft to address CB three. Maybe maybe they have a
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: handshake deal with Trey White. I think that will be
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: risky to wait until after the draft, because just you're
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: you're limiting the bites at the apple and the swings
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: at the plate. But maybe it's possibility. Charles says, I've
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: seen so many mocks from insiders with the bills taking CB,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: it's crazy to me. Really, I haven't. I'm not even
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: saying this sarcastically. I don't. I don't really look at
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: a lot of mocks. I do them for fun on
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: PFF when I get bored, or like I'm waiting in
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: line somewhere. But yeah, I haven't. I actually haven't looked
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: at a bunch of mocks. I didn't know there. Who's
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: mocking CB to the bills? And what CB is it?
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: If you don't mind, I know, I'm asking you to
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: do the legwork on this, Charles. Uh but yeah, what
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: in are uh? Oh Andy saying the same thing? Whose
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: mocks are saying the bills? Or I want to know
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: two things, if the if you and the chat would
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: be so kind. Who is mocking? Oh rantingly says I
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: think Kuiper mocked us a corner to the bills? Ooh
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: what corner was he? Yeah, I'd like to know which
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: guys are mocking? Oh it's Kiper? Okay, who did he?
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: Who did he mock to the bills?
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: Was it?
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: Charrelle? Oh? And others too? Oh? Oh? So it's a
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: common one. Maybe they're just following Kuiper's lead because he's
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: a known voice. Oh interesting, I didn't realize people were
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: mocking Corner. Oh Kuiper did Charrell. Oh, I don't want
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: to google it right now, Like, have just google the
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: bills mock it's a couple. I don't want to. Then
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: I gotta folks all I'm focused off the chat. I'm
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: gonna have to do it after the show. I guess. Interesting,
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: I didn't know that people were mocking that Kuiper is.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Kuiper is also a mocker who does what he would
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: do rather than like what he's hearing or what he
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: thinks would happen. But that's hmm, that's interesting. Interesting Again,
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: if they went, say they took Terrell from Clemson, I
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: I wouldn't like. I don't think that's a proper allocation
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: of resources. But Terrell is sick, and it would hard
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: be hard for me to be super upset even with
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Ksey conceptsi on like the RJ's comment here and comment
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: from multiple others here, like I don't want wide receiver
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: in round one. But if they took Casey Conceptsion, like
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: he's sweet, I would get over it, But again, I
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: don't think that would be proper allocation of resources. Wide
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: receiver while we're also in this conversation and why I
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: have it up here on the board, wide receiver is
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: in need for this Bills team. I still think they
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: could use some more juice and more speed at the
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: wide receiver position. But if we're looking at it right now, right,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: DJ Moore, Josh Palmer, Koalios Shakir, Keon Coleman, right, I
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: think those are your top four Keon Coleman's gonna get
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: a chance, and whether he's wide receiver four, wide receiver
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: five is going to be there. But Tyrel Shavers is hurt.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: So who's wide receiver five? Is a Mikole Hartman? Is
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: it Trent Sherfield who they'd signed recently? Is a Jalen Virgil?
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: Who is wide receiver five? And then again, you're going
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: into next year. What does Tyrel Shavers look like coming
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: back this year? And is he impacted even going into
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: twenty twenty seven? Keon Coleman, what is he this year? Right? Like?
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: Do is this year the Keeon Coleman experience ends and
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: all of a sudden, you need like a top three
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: or top four wide receiver next year. Josh Palmer, his
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: contract has a good out after this season. You can
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: save eight million if you cut Josh Palmer next off
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: season and as a post June first release with only
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: a dead cap hit a one point six and twenty
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: twenty seven, but then three point two in twenty twenty eight.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: So like, are Josh Palmer and Keon Coleman on this
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: team next year? That's a question, Like there's a lot
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: of questions still at receiver. What are you getting from
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: Dj Moore? Like? DJ Moore is a guy who predicates
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: himself on athleticism and speed and juice, but he's only
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: getting older. Athleticism, speed and juice tend to depreciate a
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: little bit the older you get and the more miles
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: you get on the tires. So what does Dj Moore
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: look like this year? What does he look like next year?
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: Is Josh Palmer on the team next year? Is Kean
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Coleman on the team next year? I think those questions
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: are all like why wide receiver could work in Round one? Again,
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: like if you wanted to take Casey Concepcion, or again,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: if Jordan Tyson falls. I'm gonna keep saying that I
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: think Jordan Tyson is sick. I understand the want for
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: wide receiver in round one. I get it, and I
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: understand it. Or you know, if Omar Cooper is there,
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: I know some folks like Omar Cooper, But yeah, I
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: think there's a multitude of guys you could take. I'd
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: rather take a wide receiver in round four. Like if
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: you could guarantee me Brendan Thompson from Mississippi State in
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: round four, I think that would be fun. But there's
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: a lot of useful guys a wide receiver in this draft.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: Maybe take a fire on Bryce Lance on day three.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: If he's there, I think he might go too because
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: of the size and the traits. I think he might
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: go day two. But yeah, I think receivers receivers like
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: a weird one because again I think they need another receiver.
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: But do they do they need a receiver at the
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: bottom of the deep chart? Do they need a receiver
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: at the top of the jet chart? What is keyon
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: Coleman going to be? What does Josh Palmer do again?
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: If Palmer gets hurt again or if he's just kind
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: of man, he probably gets cut next year, right, And
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: what happens with Ken Coleman like they there's a fair
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: chance to key on. Coleman and Josh Palmer are both
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: off the roster at this point next year and then
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: you need to this So then it would help to
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: have a receiver now, right, or do you just attack
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: receiver next year? Okay, what does DJ Moore look like?
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: All these questions, all these thoughts. You know what is
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: Tyrol Shavers look like when he comes back? So receiver
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: I think is a need. It's just wonky in terms
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: of where you get receiver and when. If they hadn't
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: gotten Dj Moore, I think wide receiver in round one
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: was super on the board. I think it could even
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: still be on the board now. I just think there's
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: bigger fish to fry at the wide receiver spot. But
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: I don't think it's crazy that wide receiver is an
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: early need for folks. Just now that you don't have
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: that second round pick, I think you really do need
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: to use your first two picks on defense. Or even
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: if they trade back in round one and get another
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: Day two pick and so they have three picks on
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: day two, I think the first two or three picks
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: need to be used on defense. However many they get
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: if it's only pick twenty six and ninety one, I
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: think you got to go defense defense. If you get
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: three day two picks, if you trade back in twenty six,
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: I would still think those first three picks then need
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: to be on defense. But then you can go with
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: your round four pick. You can go receiver or whatever
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: you want to do, or make a fun pick. But
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: it's going to be interesting with receiver. Yeah, and receiver
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: and corner are two like wonky ones because it's on
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: the surface. For me at least, I don't think it's
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: like urgent spotlight lights are flashing, gotta take these gotta
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: address these positions. But just under the surface, you don't
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: even have to dig a lot, if you just scratch
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: a little bit, there is a legitimate need at both.
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: So I put these boat in the same talking point,
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: same to her, because I think it's really interesting and we'll
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: see kind of what they are. If Keon can get
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: out of his own way, if Palmer can be healthy,
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: I think Palmer having DJ Moore will help him healthy.
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: Dalton Kincaid goes a long way, but he just can't
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: seem to stay healthy. Man A lot of the past
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: catching position I'm including Dalton can cad in that when
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: I say that, it's just real interesting. I think there's
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: there's a like a fairly high ceiling. There's also a
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: fairly high floor. There's also like a low ceiling and
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: unknowns and uncertainties really frustrating and really annoying. And yeah,
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: the kind of the comments there about Kynk Coleman and
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: the Chad. Yeah, I don't even know what trade value
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Kean Coleman has right now, like especially because the concerns
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: are it's not like, oh, well he's hurt and he's
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: coming back from injury. The questions are like him as
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: a person. So I don't I don't know. I don't
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: know if teams would give a fourth for him, maybe
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: you get him for a fifth, but then at that
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: point I'd rather just keep him and see I you
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: can kind of tap into himself here, or maybe he
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: doesn't want to tap in here because he's upset about
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: things have been said about him. I don't know, but
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: it's tough to get any kind of value for a
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: dude who's getting in his own way. Yeah, not ideal,
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: not ideal, you know what is ideal? The best pizza
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: in Buffalo, New York One Pie Pizza. I say it
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: every week. I think, I sincerely think they are the
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: best pizza in Buffalo, New York. And I don't say
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: that because they sponsor the show. They sponsor the show
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: because I sincerely think they are the best pizza in Buffalo,
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: New York. Sweet sauce, pie cup and char pepperoni, homemade
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: blue cheese. They make really good salads, They make a
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: really good breakfast pizza. They have a catering division called
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: Elevated Catering of Buffalo, and they can do any event
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: that you can think of, especially with the weather starting
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: to change and get better around here as we enter
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: into spring and then push towards summer. If you're doing
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: grad parties, if you're doing birthday parties, if you're just
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: doing outdoor stuff, get yourself some pizza, get yourself some
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: chicken and rice dishes, Get yourself some awesome homemade mac
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: and cheeses. They got other stuff on the menu as well. Again,
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: everything that they make is sincerely phenomenal. A bunch of
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: customizable pizzas. They got one that's named after the show
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: and after the brand, which is super cool. Yeah, everything
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: everything that they do is sincerely delicious, and I do
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: think they are the best pizza in Buffalo. I know
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: there's a lot of great pizza in Buffalo. I will
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: not deny that, but One Pie is my absolute go to.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: And it's not just because they sponsor the show. They
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: sponsor the show because there might go to I had
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: never heard of them. I had reached out to another
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: pizza spot on Twitter. One Pie saw this DM me,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: asked me to come in, gave me a free pie,
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: told me to try it if they if I liked it,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: we could talk. I tried it, I loved it, and
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: here we are three or four years later. So yeah,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: if you haven't gotten One Pie Pizza, get yourself one
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: Pie Pizza. You are missing out if you have not
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: gotten it. And again I always talk about all the
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: good they do for the community. Partner with Roswell, partner
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: with the SPCA, partner ring and doing toys for Tots,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: parting with the Alzheimer's Foundation, just a lot of giving
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: a lot of give back to the community. Good people
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: making really good food. Get yourself to One Pie Pizza.
