Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. I'd like to bring up a man
- 0:03Speaker 1: who loves New York City. He is the Republican nominee
- 0:08Speaker 1: and the forty fifth President of the United States, President
- 0:12Speaker 1: Donald J.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Trump.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Thank you. I resold well, thank you very much. It's
- 0:39Speaker 3: an honor. And they told me, under no circumstances are
- 0:44Speaker 3: you allowed to use a teleprompter. And I got up here,
- 0:47Speaker 3: and I see this is beautiful teleprompter.
- 0:50Speaker 4: So here I am. But it is tremendous thing. It's
- 0:55Speaker 4: a tremendous thing. I've come here with my father, so
- 0:58Speaker 4: it was three times, but it was also many times
- 1:01Speaker 4: before that, a long time ago.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And it's a very special dinner. And you've done a
- 1:06Speaker 3: fantastic job. Cardinal, thank you very much. I appreciate it.
- 1:11Speaker 4: So I'd like to thank your eminence very much. And
- 1:16Speaker 4: members of the clergy, so many people I know. Speaker
- 1:21Speaker 4: of the House Johnson, what a job you're doing. He's
- 1:26Speaker 4: done a great job. Senator Schumer good I supported him.
- 1:32Speaker 4: I was, oh, I don't know, I don't know. He
- 1:35Speaker 4: used to say that's true, and now I'm not sure here,
- 1:37Speaker 4: but I w I gave him his first check from
- 1:40Speaker 4: an office in Beechhaven, and uh, I was very.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Proud of it. I don't know about it lately now
- 1:48Speaker 3: I was. I was.
- 1:49Speaker 4: It was his first check he was running, and I
- 1:51Speaker 4: said he was a good man.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Uh, Senator Jilibrand, thank you very much, thank you very
- 1:57Speaker 3: much for working hard. Governor Hochel, wherever you may be up.
- 2:03Speaker 3: This is a big day. It's right, where's the governor?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Good job.
- 2:10Speaker 4: It's not an easy one, is it, But you're doing alright.
- 2:13Speaker 4: We have to get a little money from the federal
- 2:15Speaker 4: government to have to tell you it's about it's about time.
- 2:19Speaker 3: It's about time, Mayor Adams, good luck with everything. And
- 2:22Speaker 3: they went after you, they went after you, Mayor. Ah, boy,
- 2:28Speaker 3: I do that.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Nine and a half months ago, I said, And he
- 2:32Speaker 4: just said something about it about the administration.
- 2:35Speaker 3: He's gonna be indicted any moment.
- 2:39Speaker 4: And guess what happened. But you're gonna win. I think
- 2:41Speaker 4: you're gonna win. I know you're gonna win. So good luck,
- 2:45Speaker 4: good luck. I don't like what they do. I don't
- 2:49Speaker 4: like what they do. And also just think we's got
- 2:52Speaker 4: so many friends up here. It's uh great, not a
- 2:54Speaker 4: great friend some uh, some of my best friends and
- 2:58Speaker 4: you are right.
- 2:58Speaker 3: They are distinguished and they are wealthy. For the most part,
- 3:01Speaker 3: couple are having a hard time, but they gonna get
- 3:04Speaker 3: over it.
- 3:06Speaker 4: I also want to thank my very beautiful wife and
- 3:09Speaker 4: thank you for mentioning. But can you believe this. She
- 3:11Speaker 4: did a book, and it's a really good book, and
- 3:14Speaker 4: she worked hard on it, and it just became number
- 3:17Speaker 4: one on the New York Times list.
- 3:18Speaker 3: So I think that's okay.
- 3:24Speaker 4: That's not an easy thing to do, especially when your
- 3:26Speaker 4: name is Trump and you're on the New York Times list.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I that thing that must be selling like hotcakes. But
- 3:32Speaker 3: thank you for menche. I appreciate it. Good job you did.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's a true pleasure to be with you this evening.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Amazing pleasure.
- 3:40Speaker 4: And these days it's uh really a pleasure anywhere in
- 3:44Speaker 4: New York without a subpoena for my appearance.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Anytime I don't get a subpoena.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I'm very happy they've gone after me, mister mayor your
- 3:59Speaker 4: peanuts compared what they've done to me, and you're gonna
- 4:02Speaker 4: be okay. But I have to be careful, however, to
- 4:07Speaker 4: understand that this will be the first time in the
- 4:09Speaker 4: history of this event.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Where jokes will be fact checked, and they will be
- 4:15Speaker 3: and they will be. It's been a long tradition for
- 4:18Speaker 3: both Democrat and Republican candidates for President of the United
- 4:23Speaker 3: States to attend this dinner. Always it's a rule. You
- 4:26Speaker 3: got to go to the dinner. You gotta do it,
- 4:29Speaker 3: otherwise bad things are going to happen to you. From
- 4:32Speaker 3: up there. You can't do what I just saw on
- 4:36Speaker 3: that screen.
- 4:38Speaker 4: But my opponent feels like she does not have to
- 4:41Speaker 4: be here, which is deeply disrespectful to the event and
- 4:45Speaker 4: in particular to our great Catholic community, very disrespectful. The
- 4:56Speaker 4: last Democrat not to attend this important event was Walter.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Mondale, and it did not go very well for him.
- 5:05Speaker 4: He lost forty nine states and he won won Minnesota.
- 5:12Speaker 4: So I said, there's no way I'm missing it. Actually,
- 5:14Speaker 4: it was not easy for me to get here tonight.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Card I wasn't gonna miss this thing, you know, matter,
- 5:19Speaker 4: I didn't care. I wasn't gonna miss it. But that's true.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Walter Mondale forty nine and one.
- 5:26Speaker 3: He was expected to.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Do well and it didn't work out. It shows you
- 5:33Speaker 4: there is a god. I mean, for those people that
- 5:35Speaker 4: are quitetioned it I understand the real reason that she's
- 5:40Speaker 4: not here. She's hunting with her running.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Mate, spending a lot of time haunting. In any event,
- 5:48Speaker 3: it's say weird, weird, weird, weird, you know the word weird.
- 5:53Speaker 3: They called me weird, they called JD weird. We're very
- 5:56Speaker 3: solid people. This guy is calling us weird.
- 5:59Speaker 4: But this was weird that the Democrat candidate is not
- 6:03Speaker 4: here and with us tonight. I want to also congratulate.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Somebody's gonna make us all healthy. RFK Junior would love you.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I don't see if he's campaigning all over the place,
- 6:14Speaker 3: he's camp playing, you're all over Hello you both.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Nice to see you about doing a good job. He's
- 6:21Speaker 4: a great guy too, he really is. He's gonna make
- 6:23Speaker 4: us a healthier place. We're gonna let him go wild
- 6:25Speaker 4: for a little while that I'm gonna have to maybe.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Rate him back.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Because he's got some pretty wild ideas, but most of
- 6:32Speaker 4: them are really good.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I think.
- 6:35Speaker 4: He's a good man, and he believes he believes the environment,
- 6:41Speaker 4: the healthy people. He wants healthy people, he wants healthy food,
- 6:45Speaker 4: and he's gonna do it. He's gonna have a big
- 6:47Speaker 4: chance to do it because we do need that I
- 6:49Speaker 4: would not have missed the Al Smith dinner for anything
- 6:52Speaker 4: in the world.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I still remember coming here as a very young guy
- 6:57Speaker 3: with my father. Freddie was a great guy. My father.
- 7:01Speaker 3: It was a tough cookie, but he had a very
- 7:03Speaker 3: big heart.
- 7:04Speaker 4: He was anytime we'd walk down the street, and you
- 7:07Speaker 4: don't see it too much anymore, they'd be people standing
- 7:10Speaker 4: with tin cans, tin cans, and he would always take
- 7:13Speaker 4: out one hundred dollars and put it in that can.
- 7:16Speaker 4: And I always thought it was beautiful, and frankly, I
- 7:19Speaker 4: even think more so now it was beautiful, because now
- 7:21Speaker 4: it is you don't see it so much.
- 7:23Speaker 3: But I miss him. And we used to come here
- 7:26Speaker 3: very religiously. And a great New York tradition has been
- 7:32Speaker 3: born seventy nine years ago. It was born seventy nine
- 7:35Speaker 3: years ago. And there are some people that were here
- 7:38Speaker 3: for almost that length. I know many of them. And
- 7:42Speaker 3: it's not a pretty picture. Not a pretty picture.
- 7:45Speaker 4: The two candidates for president are supposed to exchange good
- 7:49Speaker 4: natured barbs, and you know, we.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Get along very well. I didn't like Biden very much,
- 7:54Speaker 3: and now I like him quite a bit. You know.
- 7:56Speaker 4: It's and now I say that she's much worse than him.
- 8:02Speaker 4: He was a much better candidate than her, actually, and
- 8:05Speaker 4: when we hopefully win, dispose of her.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I like her a lot, But right now I can't
- 8:10Speaker 3: stand here.
- 8:11Speaker 4: I can't stand I've never liked people that I was
- 8:14Speaker 4: competing against. When you do, a lot of bad things happen,
- 8:19Speaker 4: and we are doing well by the way, the votes
- 8:21Speaker 4: are starting to come in. You gotta get out and vote,
- 8:23Speaker 4: and Catholics, you gotta vote for me just to remember.
- 8:26Speaker 4: You better remember I'm here and she's not. I could
- 8:30Speaker 4: have done that too, But you do something that's incredible
- 8:34Speaker 4: that Catholic Church are helping the poor, educating children, and
- 8:37Speaker 4: supporting the vulnerable. But if you really wanted Vice President
- 8:42Speaker 4: Harris to accept your invitation, I guess you should have
- 8:45Speaker 4: told her the funds we're going to bail out the
- 8:49Speaker 4: looters and writers in Minneapolis. And she would have been here, guaranteed,
- 8:53Speaker 4: she would have been here, Guaranteed.
- 8:59Speaker 3: She would have been okay. She would have been okay
- 9:01Speaker 3: with that.
- 9:02Speaker 4: But I know this isn't my normal crowd tonight, because
- 9:06Speaker 4: it just isn't. It's not my normal crowd.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Believe me. My normal crowd is younger, has a lot
- 9:14Speaker 3: more energy.
- 9:17Speaker 4: But you have certain advantages too, like cash, lots of caves.
- 9:22Speaker 4: But many of you are Manhattan liberals from the media
- 9:25Speaker 4: and the Democrat Party. I always say the Democrat You know,
- 9:29Speaker 4: Chuck doesn't like that. He likes Democratic and it sounds
- 9:31Speaker 4: much more beautiful. The Democratic Party. I always say the
- 9:35Speaker 4: Democrat Party because it sounds worse, and it's true he
- 9:41Speaker 4: likes Democratic. Why don't they just change the name this way?
- 9:44Speaker 4: What you know it is Democrat? But I must say
- 9:49Speaker 4: I was shocked when I heard that Kamala was skipping
- 9:52Speaker 4: the Al Smith dinner. I'd really hope that she would
- 9:55Speaker 4: come because we can't get enough of hearing her beautiful laugh.
- 9:58Speaker 4: She laughs like crazy. We would recognize at any place
- 10:02Speaker 4: in this room. And all polls are indicating I'm leading
- 10:06Speaker 4: big with the Catholic vote, as I should be, as
- 10:10Speaker 4: I should do.
- 10:12Speaker 3: But I don't think Kamala has given up yet. She hasn't.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Instead of attending tonight, she's in Michigan receiving communion.
- 10:19Speaker 3: From Gretchen Whitmer. That's not a pretty sight.
- 10:29Speaker 4: But Catholics, please don't be too insulted by Kamala's absence.
- 10:34Speaker 4: If the Democrats, thank you very much. I appreciate it.
- 10:40Speaker 4: If Democrats really wanted to have someone not be with
- 10:43Speaker 4: us this evening, they would have just sent Joe Biden.
- 10:49Speaker 4: You know he's having second thoughts. You know that he's having.
- 10:52Speaker 4: He wants to come back. If she does any worse
- 10:55Speaker 4: than the polls, they're going to bring him back again.
- 10:57Speaker 4: I think Chuck, he's gonna do it. He's the one that.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Got him out.
- 11:00Speaker 4: That's the guy, much more so than crazy Nancy.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I will tell you because I know him. He did it.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Joe has almost disappeared from view.
- 11:10Speaker 4: The only way he could be seen lessons if he
- 11:13Speaker 4: had a show on CNN.
- 11:15Speaker 3: They hated nothing. They've got nothing. Fake news right, fake?
- 11:22Speaker 3: That term wasn't good. You know.
- 11:23Speaker 4: They say that term is no longer in voke because
- 11:26Speaker 4: it's much worse than fake.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I don't want to tell you what the real name is.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I won't do it because all those cameras would shut
- 11:31Speaker 4: off immediately.
- 11:32Speaker 3: They don't like that.
- 11:33Speaker 4: But apparently Joe didn't think it was fair for me
- 11:36Speaker 4: to have the podium to myself with Kamala skipping the event.
- 11:41Speaker 4: So he called looked at me and said, don't does
- 11:47Speaker 4: anybody understand that, yes, that was I thought it was
- 11:52Speaker 4: actually very good until just now. It was announced this
- 11:56Speaker 4: morning that at a funeral yesterday, in a rare moment
- 11:59Speaker 4: of clarity, Joe told Barackussan Obama they quote, only a
- 12:06Speaker 4: few people got there, or as Rush Limbo used to say,
- 12:12Speaker 4: Barack Hussein Obama remembered bruh, he was a piece of work.
- 12:16Speaker 3: We miss him.
- 12:19Speaker 4: But is he told Barackussan Obama quote, She's not as
- 12:22Speaker 4: strong as me. She's not as strong? Do you understand that?
- 12:26Speaker 4: And Obama agreed, saying that's true. Other than that, I
- 12:30Speaker 4: think the Democrats are getting along quite well. Right, Nobody
- 12:35Speaker 4: got that one. The fact is we need new leadership
- 12:39Speaker 4: in this country right now. We have someone in the
- 12:41Speaker 4: White House who can barely talk, barely put together two
- 12:46Speaker 4: coherent sentences, who seems to have mental.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Faculties of a child.
- 12:54Speaker 4: That said, there is a person that has nothing going,
- 12:58Speaker 4: no intelligence whatsoever.
- 13:00Speaker 3: But enough about.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Kamala Harris, let's got onto something. I know Kamala's word
- 13:07Speaker 4: because she spends a lot of time complaining. I won't
- 13:11Speaker 4: agree to another debate. But the truth is I've debated
- 13:14Speaker 4: twice this year, once against Joe Biden, and once against
- 13:17Speaker 4: David Muir of ABC.
- 13:21Speaker 3: That was amazing, eleven times none for the other side.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Do you think that's fair news. I don't think so.
- 13:27Speaker 3: That's fake news. I don't know what's going to happen
- 13:30Speaker 3: three weeks from now. It's going to be very interesting.
- 13:33Speaker 3: It just started.
- 13:35Speaker 4: It's actually, uh, it's actually isn't it sort of exciting? Right?
- 13:40Speaker 3: It really?
- 13:41Speaker 4: Isn't it just exciting? What's going on. It's a process.
- 13:44Speaker 4: It's a rough process too, not so pretty and yet
- 13:48Speaker 4: sometimes very beautiful. But the press is reporting the Democrats
- 13:53Speaker 4: are starting to panic.
- 13:55Speaker 3: They're panicking. They are panicking because.
- 13:58Speaker 4: You know, the votes that are coming and are coming
- 13:59Speaker 4: and very very strong a certain way.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I won't tell you what way that is. But Chuck
- 14:03Speaker 3: Schumer is here looking very glum. Looks to lumbn it
- 14:10Speaker 3: looks to love.
- 14:13Speaker 4: But look on the bright shot, hut, considering how woke
- 14:16Speaker 4: your party has become. If Kamala loses, you still have
- 14:20Speaker 4: a chance to become the first woman president. And I
- 14:28Speaker 4: actually said, do you mind if I do that? He said, no,
- 14:31Speaker 4: you gotta do what you gotta do. He's a pro,
- 14:33Speaker 4: he's a professor. Nah, he's a good man. Actually, I
- 14:38Speaker 4: hate to say it. Don't ever use it against me.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Please. They'll say this dinner was.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Really set me back when I say it, But I've
- 14:45Speaker 4: known him a long time. There's a group called White
- 14:48Speaker 4: Dudes for Harris. Have you seen this? White Dudes for Harris?
- 14:52Speaker 4: Anybody know?
- 14:53Speaker 3: Are some of you hear white Dudes? Doesn't sound like it, But.
- 14:57Speaker 4: I'm not worried about them at all, because there were
- 15:00Speaker 4: and their wives lovers.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Are all voting for me. Every one of those people
- 15:08Speaker 3: are voting for me.
- 15:10Speaker 4: And as you may have seen, Kamala did an interview
- 15:13Speaker 4: on Fox News yesterday. It went so poorly for her
- 15:18Speaker 4: that the Democrats have been forced to install another one
- 15:22Speaker 4: hundred drop boxes throughout the city. And the upside really
- 15:27Speaker 4: is Kamala now sees the benefit of deportation.
- 15:31Speaker 3: She wants to deport people.
- 15:33Speaker 4: She's vicious, she wants to deport people when she wants
- 15:35Speaker 4: to start by deporting Brett Baar Fox. It's an interesting
- 15:41Speaker 4: interview last night. A major issue in this race is childcare,
- 15:45Speaker 4: and Kamala has put forward a concept of a plan.
- 15:49Speaker 4: A lot of people don't like it. The only piece
- 15:51Speaker 4: of advice I would have for her and the event
- 15:54Speaker 4: that she wins would be not to let her husband
- 15:57Speaker 4: Doug anywhere near the nanny.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Just keep them away. That's a nasty one. That's nasty.
- 16:05Speaker 4: I tell these idiots, they gave me this stuff that's
- 16:08Speaker 4: too tough.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't you know? They told me. The last
- 16:13Speaker 3: time I did this, I was running against Crooked Hillary,
- 16:18Speaker 3: and I mean Hillary.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Now, I was running against crooked Hillary, and I did
- 16:23Speaker 4: it and I thought it was a roast.
- 16:25Speaker 3: So I was told it's a roast.
- 16:27Speaker 4: And I had the meanest guy you've ever seen right,
- 16:30Speaker 4: stuff up and the man was the room angry. Even
- 16:34Speaker 4: the cardinal remembers I went overboard, don't you agree, card
- 16:37Speaker 4: It was like terrible. And I knew I was in
- 16:40Speaker 4: trouble around midway through, because you know, people are not.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Even my own side was angry at me. They were
- 16:45Speaker 4: saying it's too much. But I did it anyway. I
- 16:49Speaker 4: didn't give it him.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Campaign.
- 16:53Speaker 4: He could take a toll on a family and family life.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Although I hear that Kamala and her husband carve out
- 17:00Speaker 4: some really beautiful alone time at the end of the
- 17:03Speaker 4: day for an intimate dinner just dug her and the
- 17:07Speaker 4: teleprompter that she uses quite well, and by the way,
- 17:11Speaker 4: she wouldn't have liked this tonight if she was told
- 17:13Speaker 4: about no teleprompter. I can't believe I saw a teleprompter.
- 17:17Speaker 4: They said, they've never had a teleprompter in the history
- 17:20Speaker 4: of this dinner. I told that to the condor, right,
- 17:23Speaker 4: and then a telepropter pops up for he must be
- 17:27Speaker 4: a very important comedian to get that.
- 17:30Speaker 3: They give you one, but not me. How about that one? Come, ah,
- 17:34Speaker 3: and you did a good job.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Tradition halls that I'm supposed to tell a few self
- 17:40Speaker 4: deprecating jokes this evening, So here it goes.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Nope, I've got nothing. I've got nothing. There's nothing to say.
- 17:55Speaker 3: I guess.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I just don't see the point of taking shots at
- 17:58Speaker 4: myself when other people have been shooting.
- 18:02Speaker 3: At me for a hell of a long time. And
- 18:03Speaker 3: they shoot her. You know.
- 18:05Speaker 4: They say about presidents, they say that Andrew Jackson was
- 18:10Speaker 4: the president that was the most meanly treated. His wife died.
- 18:14Speaker 4: She died of heartache. She was heartbroken at the way
- 18:17Speaker 4: they treated him. And they say that second was Abraham Lincoln,
- 18:22Speaker 4: but he was in charge of Civil War, you know.
- 18:25Speaker 4: But those were the two Andrew Jackson up until me.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Now they say it's not even close. He's never been
- 18:31Speaker 4: a president that's been treated so badly as me, and
- 18:35Speaker 4: now people aren't happy about it.
- 18:37Speaker 3: But I was treated a little bit rough, but I don't.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Mind it somehow, and I think it's just part of
- 18:44Speaker 4: the game. I'd like to thank our MC this evening.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Jim Gaffigan. Most recently, Jim has been playing Tim Wilson
- 18:52Speaker 4: Saturday Night Love and that'll be a very short gig,
- 18:56Speaker 4: I hope, Jim. But it was fun while it wasn't it.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Let's see how that lasts. It'd better be quick. We
- 19:05Speaker 3: don't want him, and you know, I'm not gonna say anymore.
- 19:09Speaker 4: But unfortunately Governor Waltz is in here himself. But don't worry,
- 19:13Speaker 4: he'll say that he was. He's gonna say he will.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I used to think the Democrats were crazy for saying
- 19:22Speaker 4: that men have.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Periods, but then I met Tim Waltz.
- 19:29Speaker 4: The stupid show The View is so bad now that
- 19:33Speaker 4: the other day I was watching it and thinking to myself,
- 19:36Speaker 4: you know what they really need to bring.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Rosie O'Donnell back. That show is bad. Those people are bad.
- 19:44Speaker 4: I know every one of them, and they are bad
- 19:47Speaker 4: news I want to tell you, and it doesn't do
- 19:50Speaker 4: very well either. I always like to say, you know,
- 19:52Speaker 4: ratings are very important. When they don't do well, it
- 19:54Speaker 4: doesn't do very well. As I look around the DAIS,
- 19:57Speaker 4: I see all of the usual specs, for instance, Mayor Adams.
- 20:02Speaker 4: I'd like to poke some fun at Eric, but I'm
- 20:04Speaker 4: going to be nice. I just want to be nice
- 20:06Speaker 4: because I know what it's like to be persecuted by
- 20:09Speaker 4: the DOJ for speaking out against open borders. We were persecuted, Eric,
- 20:15Speaker 4: I was persecuted, and so are you.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Eric. The mayor's dietary restrictions are well known.
- 20:21Speaker 4: But I've got to say I've never met a person
- 20:24Speaker 4: who's a vagan who liked Turkey so much.
- 20:27Speaker 3: There's something about him with Turkey.
- 20:29Speaker 4: I just found that out today, and I haven't been
- 20:31Speaker 4: in New York that much.
- 20:34Speaker 3: I don't let it. Bet you're gonna win. Eric. We
- 20:37Speaker 3: have another former New York City mayor with.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Us, frankly, easily the worst in our history.
- 20:46Speaker 3: And it's not Michael that I can tell you.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I'm surprised that Bill de Blasia was actually able to
- 20:53Speaker 4: make it tonight. To be honest, he was a terrible Mayor,
- 20:56Speaker 4: I don't give a shit if this is comedy, and
- 21:00Speaker 4: he was.
- 21:00Speaker 3: That terrible man. He did a horrible He did a
- 21:04Speaker 3: horrible job. That's not comedy, by the way, that's fact.
- 21:09Speaker 3: But unlike the rest of New York, at least Bill
- 21:12Speaker 3: doesn't have to worry about the criminals. They owe him big.
- 21:17Speaker 3: He let them get away with a lattice stuff.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Well, I had better wrap up because Mayor Adams told
- 21:22Speaker 4: me earlier that I needed to make this one very quick,
- 21:25Speaker 4: especially the city has reserved this room for a large
- 21:29Speaker 4: group of illegal aliens coming in from Texas.
- 21:33Speaker 3: That's right.
- 21:33Speaker 4: They've reserved many rooms, many rooms, a lot of rooms.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Too many rooms.
- 21:38Speaker 4: But in all seriousness, it's an honor to be here
- 21:40Speaker 4: to support the city and the community. It's a great
- 21:44Speaker 4: community that I love. I've been here a long time
- 21:47Speaker 4: and I love it. And then it's going to make
- 21:49Speaker 4: a big comeback, and I'm going to help it make
- 21:51Speaker 4: a comeback. I'm going to win and I'm going to
- 21:52Speaker 4: make a comeback. We're going to turn this thing around.
- 21:58Speaker 4: And I want to pay tribute to a really incredible man,
- 22:01Speaker 4: a man who was a tremendous politician and actually the
- 22:05Speaker 4: fact that he was Catholic. Was it probably did him
- 22:09Speaker 4: and right it probably nobody knows for sure, but uh,
- 22:13Speaker 4: he was a great guy, al Sabeth a great guy.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Everyone says it, happy warrior. I've said before that, I'll
- 22:20Speaker 4: say it again. I'll say it again as many times
- 22:22Speaker 4: as I have to, directly to the mayor and the governor.
- 22:25Speaker 4: If I have the honor to be elected next month,
- 22:30Speaker 4: we're going to see what happens. It's happening so fast.
- 22:33Speaker 4: But if I have the honor, I look forward to
- 22:35Speaker 4: working together to make this city greater than ever before.
- 22:38Speaker 3: We're going to do that.
- 22:39Speaker 4: We're going to be we're going to be focused on
- 22:41Speaker 4: I'll work with the governor. I'll work with the mayor. Democrats,
- 22:44Speaker 4: I will work with them. I work with whoever I
- 22:46Speaker 4: have to, and we will even work very hard to
- 22:48Speaker 4: bring back the salt tax deduction. We're going to bring
- 22:51Speaker 4: it back. We're going to bring it back. We're going
- 22:55Speaker 4: to get that thing going. Chuck, Okay.
- 22:58Speaker 3: I actually thought about not doing jokes tonight.
- 23:02Speaker 4: I was going to come out here and say, listen,
- 23:04Speaker 4: our country is doing very badly. This is not about jokes.
- 23:08Speaker 4: And then some persons said, you have to do jokes.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I said, I don't want to. There's nothing funny about
- 23:13Speaker 4: what's happening to our country. And I actually meant that
- 23:16Speaker 4: I was going to do that, but they convinced me
- 23:18Speaker 4: to say some of the things I said tonight.
- 23:21Speaker 3: I don't know if they were funny or not.
- 23:23Speaker 4: But A you think this is easy standing up here
- 23:27Speaker 4: and doing this in front of half a room that
- 23:29Speaker 4: hates my gut said, the other half loves me.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Half of us love me.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Well, maybe it's I think seventy five percent love me,
- 23:40Speaker 4: but I actually I did think about that. And our
- 23:45Speaker 4: country is doing very badly with respect to its open
- 23:49Speaker 4: borders and inflation crushing things happening in the Middle East
- 23:54Speaker 4: and Ukraine. It's so sad to see what's happening in Ukraine.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Wow.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I had a lot of people from very religious people
- 24:01Speaker 4: come up to me tonight from Ukraine and they're asking
- 24:05Speaker 4: me for help. So sad to see so many people
- 24:09Speaker 4: have been killed in Ukraine. And we're going to get it.
- 24:11Speaker 4: We're going to get it settled up if we win.
- 24:14Speaker 4: As I'm president, they're lecked. I'm going to get that done.
- 24:16Speaker 4: I'm going to do it before we ever get back.
- 24:18Speaker 4: We have to get it stopped. Too much killing. It's killing,
- 24:22Speaker 4: and all of those cities are coming crashing down, those
- 24:25Speaker 4: beautiful golden domes are crashing down on their sides. They're
- 24:30Speaker 4: so sad to see. The whole thing is so sad.
- 24:32Speaker 4: So we're gonna be for all those people. There's so
- 24:34Speaker 4: many people came up to the days and religious people
- 24:38Speaker 4: from Ukraine, and I'm gonna say, and I told them,
- 24:40Speaker 4: don't worry.
- 24:41Speaker 3: We're going to get it stopped. It's too bad it
- 24:43Speaker 3: ever started. Should have never started, it wouldn't have started.
- 24:47Speaker 3: But we're going to have our country respected again.
- 24:51Speaker 4: We're going to make sure that it's respected, and we're
- 24:53Speaker 4: going to go out and do very good things for
- 24:54Speaker 4: ourselves as a.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Country and for the world.
- 24:58Speaker 4: These they're challenging time for beautiful USA. But I'm committed
- 25:04Speaker 4: to working with every partner here in New York and
- 25:06Speaker 4: all across the nation to build an America that once
- 25:10Speaker 4: again is.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Strong and safe and proud and prosperous and free.
- 25:14Speaker 4: We're going to make sure together we can create a
- 25:17Speaker 4: future defined by great ambitions and grand achievements that once
- 25:22Speaker 4: again inspires the dreams of our children, brings back the
- 25:25Speaker 4: American dream. You don't hear about the American dream anymore.
- 25:28Speaker 4: We're going to make it possible for them to have
- 25:31Speaker 4: the American dream. This is a very religious evening to me,
- 25:35Speaker 4: it really is. It represents so much. My sister was
- 25:41Speaker 4: somebody that loved the church and gave to the church.
- 25:45Speaker 4: The Cardinal knew that I had a certain priest that
- 25:47Speaker 4: she thought was incredible, right for a certain very very
- 25:51Speaker 4: fine man that she thought was incredible. Having recently myself
- 25:57Speaker 4: survived two assassination attempts.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I have a chart that went down to the right.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Fortunately I looked at my old time favorite piece of paper,
- 26:08Speaker 4: but it went down and I looked to the right.
- 26:10Speaker 3: And I said, you know, was that luck? What was
- 26:13Speaker 3: that luck? Or was that God that did that? And
- 26:15Speaker 3: I think it was God that did that. I do agree,
- 26:20Speaker 3: But I.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Have a very fresh Cardinal, I have a very fresh
- 26:22Speaker 4: appreciation for how blessed we are by God's providence and
- 26:27Speaker 4: his divine mercy. I mean, that was something I was
- 26:29Speaker 4: not supposed to be here tonight.
- 26:32Speaker 3: That I can tell you.
- 26:33Speaker 4: So, with God's help, I know there is nothing that
- 26:37Speaker 4: cannot be achieved. We can achieve so much good with
- 26:40Speaker 4: this country and get together and unify. I want to
- 26:43Speaker 4: thank the Al Smith Foundation for its noble work, and
- 26:47Speaker 4: I want to express my tremendous gratitude to the Catholic community.
- 26:52Speaker 4: It's a great community. It's a community I've gotten along
- 26:55Speaker 4: with all my life. I tell you when I was
- 26:58Speaker 4: when I was president, I was in the yeah Oval
- 27:01Speaker 4: office that I got a call from the Cardinal and
- 27:04Speaker 4: he said, we need help.
- 27:05Speaker 3: It was during the chinavirus. I wanna be accurate when
- 27:08Speaker 3: I describe it. And he said, we need help.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Our schools are in devastating shape. They needed much more
- 27:17Speaker 4: than a billion I won't even tell you the number,
- 27:19Speaker 4: but much more than a billion dollars.
- 27:21Speaker 3: But I've known the community, and I've known that the schools.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I knew that.
- 27:25Speaker 4: I know so many people that were educated in the
- 27:27Speaker 4: Catholic school system and they are great and they just
- 27:31Speaker 4: speak with it like with love, much more so than
- 27:33Speaker 4: almost any system that I've seen.
- 27:36Speaker 3: And he said, Sir, we have uh a big problem.
- 27:39Speaker 4: We need a number of billions of dollars or we're
- 27:44Speaker 4: gonna have to close down the New York school system,
- 27:46Speaker 4: the whole system in New York.
- 27:49Speaker 3: And I said, give me fifteen minutes. I think I
- 27:51Speaker 3: can find it. And we gave him billions of dollars,
- 27:54Speaker 3: and you know what, he stayed open and they thrived.
- 27:57Speaker 3: And to this day I hear you did just about
- 28:00Speaker 3: the best job there is an education.
- 28:03Speaker 4: So and that was always an honor, that was old
- 28:08Speaker 4: and every time he sees me, he says, thank you
- 28:10Speaker 4: very much. I said, I know what you're talking about.
- 28:12Speaker 4: But we worked together. We were a good partnership.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:14Speaker 4: We got that money in about fifteen minutes, billions and
- 28:19Speaker 4: it was put to very good use. But I just
- 28:21Speaker 4: want to thank everybody. There's a special evening. It's a
- 28:25Speaker 4: very serious evening. I think we have some serious problems in.
- 28:29Speaker 3: The world, but they're going to get solved and we're
- 28:32Speaker 3: going to make America great again. And thank you very much,
- 28:34Speaker 3: and God bless you all. Thank you, thank you very much.
