Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / The Truth Behind the Sam Guggenheimer & Izzy Armitage Feud
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture
- 0:08Speaker 2: news twice a week. I'm Amy Torber and coming up
- 0:11Speaker 2: on today's show, Sammy Guggenheimer opens up about her friendship
- 0:15Speaker 2: bust up with Izzy Armitage, Katya Milan's freak accident, Laura
- 0:20Speaker 2: Henshaw is mum shamed over her birth plan and Ellie
- 0:23Speaker 2: Watson shocks her followers by putting her Insta-worthy home on
- 0:26Speaker 2: the market. But first, we have some really exciting news
- 0:30Speaker 2: we can finally share. that in 2026, we are launching
- 0:34Speaker 2: a new podcast called The Mums Group. So it will
- 0:37Speaker 2: be our second podcast baby and run as a completely
- 0:40Speaker 2: separate entity to Outspoken. We did have a few concerned
- 0:43Speaker 2: listeners message us on Wednesday when we announced the news saying,
- 0:46Speaker 2: oh my God, does that mean you're getting rid of Outspoken?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Definitely not. We're not going anywhere. Outspoken is still going
- 0:51Speaker 2: to run exactly the same with two episodes a week
- 0:53Speaker 2: and one extra for the subs. I love that we
- 0:55Speaker 2: all couldn't find a mum's group that we wanted to join.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So we just decided to create our own online.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Also, I feel like Outspoken listeners are a little bit
- 1:03Speaker 2: sick of hearing us talk about mum things. So we're like,
- 1:05Speaker 2: we'll move it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: To a different space.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Because outside of speaking about influencers and pop culture... The
- 1:11Speaker 2: majority of our conversation these days are about motherhood. So
- 1:14Speaker 2: we're like, well, that is a podcast in itself. So
- 1:16Speaker 2: as I said, the new series is going to start
- 1:18Speaker 2: airing in 2026. And we really want to build a
- 1:20Speaker 2: community of mums who really feel involved in our podcast.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So if you want to be a part of that community,
- 1:26Speaker 2: we have an Instagram account, which is themumsgroup underscore podcast,
- 1:30Speaker 2: as well as a Facebook community called The Mums Group.
- 1:33Speaker 2: We'll also be launching a TikTok soon when the podcast
- 1:36Speaker 2: goes live.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So we'll pop all the information about Mums Group in
- 1:39Speaker 2: the show notes for those mums that are interested. This
- 1:42Speaker 2: is definitely one of those times in life where if
- 1:45Speaker 2: I don't laugh, I will definitely cry.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And the past week I have been sobbing my eyes out.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Katia Milan has shared the harrowing story of how she
- 1:55Speaker 2: knocked out her two front teeth. The OG influencer conceded
- 1:59Speaker 2: she was lucky to be alive after a hellish day.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Kate, can you tell us more?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Well, late last week, Katia sent her followers into a
- 2:06Speaker 2: panic when she shared shocking photos of her broken teeth.
- 2:10Speaker 2: It made me feel so ill because this is my
- 2:12Speaker 2: worst nightmare. And she followed up asking her followers if
- 2:16Speaker 2: anyone could recommend an emergency dentist. She then spent the
- 2:20Speaker 2: next seven hours waiting in emergency and ended up getting
- 2:23Speaker 2: scans for concussion as well as getting her heart checked
- 2:26Speaker 2: and her lip stitched up. The poor thing then had
- 2:29Speaker 2: to wait a further six hours to see an emergency dentist. Yeah,
- 2:34Speaker 2: and they were the only details that she actually shared
- 2:36Speaker 2: on her Instagram story about the incident. So a lot
- 2:39Speaker 2: of people were wondering, well, how did this actually happen?
- 2:41Speaker 2: And it wasn't until Thursday when Katia provided an update
- 2:45Speaker 2: revealing exactly how this accident had occurred. Yeah, so it
- 2:48Speaker 2: turns out she went out to dinner and came home
- 2:51Speaker 2: and then went to sleep. And in the middle of
- 2:52Speaker 2: the night, she woke up feeling unwell. She said she
- 2:55Speaker 2: felt like she had a fever and was nauseous. So
- 2:58Speaker 2: she launched herself out of bed feeling like she was
- 3:00Speaker 2: going to vomit and headed towards the toilet. It was
- 3:03Speaker 2: at this point she blacked out and woke up with
- 3:06Speaker 2: her friend calling an ambulance and blood all over the floor. Now, thankfully,
- 3:10Speaker 2: Cartier revealed that she was sharing a bed with, quote,
- 3:13Speaker 2: a friend. So I was thinking, well, perhaps this is
- 3:15Speaker 2: a new boyfriend that we don't know about. It's very
- 3:18Speaker 2: lucky that that person was there, though, because it turns
- 3:21Speaker 2: out that Cartier fainted and smashed her head into the
- 3:24Speaker 2: toilet bowl and knocked her teeth out. She said she
- 3:27Speaker 2: blacked out with her eyes wide open and started vomiting.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So her friend had to put her in the recovery position.
- 3:32Speaker 2: She said she was so lucky because it could have
- 3:35Speaker 2: been way worse. It's terrifying because imagine if she'd hit
- 3:38Speaker 2: her head because the force of her hitting her teeth,
- 3:41Speaker 2: like the fact that they were completely smashed out, it
- 3:44Speaker 2: just shows you how hard she fell. Yeah, this could
- 3:47Speaker 2: have been way worse. And Katia said when she started
- 3:50Speaker 2: to sort of come to her, she noticed that she
- 3:53Speaker 2: had no teeth because she could see them lying on
- 3:55Speaker 2: the bathroom floor and she just kept saying, I have
- 3:57Speaker 2: no teeth. And it ended up taking her two days
- 4:00Speaker 2: to actually process what happened. Now, the story gets worse
- 4:04Speaker 2: if you can even imagine that because she said she
- 4:07Speaker 2: made the mistake of calling her mum at 2.30 and
- 4:10Speaker 2: upon hearing what had happened to her daughter, Katia's mum
- 4:13Speaker 2: ended up collapsing and smashing her mouth. So she didn't
- 4:17Speaker 2: actually break her teeth but her tooth went through her
- 4:19Speaker 2: lip So they both had to go to the emergency
- 4:22Speaker 2: room together. Is it terrible that when you said 2.30,
- 4:24Speaker 2: I was like, is that actually a joke? It's like 2.30. God,
- 4:29Speaker 2: what a terrible coincidence.
- 4:31Speaker 5: I think there is a saying for a reason of
- 4:33Speaker 5: don't start a business with your best friend.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 6: Keep it like your friends.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Sammy Guggenheimer has all but confirmed her friendship and business
- 4:42Speaker 2: partnership with fellow influencer Izzy Armitage is over. Talking on
- 4:46Speaker 2: the Inherited podcast, the TikToker revealed the pair made the
- 4:49Speaker 2: decision to pull the pin on their joint podcast to
- 4:52Speaker 2: avoid a public friendship bust up. Now, these women used
- 4:56Speaker 2: to be inseparable. They actually met working at Cook Eye
- 4:59Speaker 2: and from there created the Just For Girls podcast as
- 5:02Speaker 2: a side hustle. Don't they just look like people who
- 5:04Speaker 2: would work at Cook Eye?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Oh, they absolutely are.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we've actually spoken about this before because Sammy Guggenheimer's
- 5:11Speaker 2: other job was working at Boost Juice and I was like,
- 5:13Speaker 2: of course, that fits perfectly. And if she was a
- 5:15Speaker 2: bit older, if she went to school in the early 2000s,
- 5:18Speaker 2: she would have worked at Jetty Surf. Yes, definitely. And
- 5:21Speaker 2: it turns out the girls had a lot in common.
- 5:22Speaker 2: They used to both date AFL players and they also
- 5:25Speaker 2: both had subsequent public breakups. However, earlier this year, followers
- 5:30Speaker 2: began noticing that the pair were spending less time together
- 5:33Speaker 2: and Then there were the solo podcast announcements. So in June,
- 5:37Speaker 2: the girls revealed that they would be hosting their own
- 5:39Speaker 2: separate podcast under the Just For Girls umbrella. At the time,
- 5:43Speaker 2: they really tried to gloss over the news by saying that, oh,
- 5:45Speaker 2: we'll be releasing a monthly episode of Just For Girls.
- 5:48Speaker 2: That only happened once, though. The first and last joint
- 5:51Speaker 2: episode aired on the 20th of August. Now, the same
- 5:55Speaker 2: month as the episode aired, an insider told the Herald Sun,
- 5:58Speaker 2: it's no secret they're no longer friends. The girls fought
- 6:01Speaker 2: a lot in 2024. They talked about it to everyone.
- 6:05Speaker 2: The source went on to say it was really nasty
- 6:07Speaker 2: at times. Who do you think that source is, Kate?
- 6:10Speaker 2: I mean, I'm guessing someone that's had a falling out
- 6:12Speaker 2: with both of them. I'm always surprised that the Herald
- 6:14Speaker 2: Sun were interested, but then I'm reminded by the fact
- 6:16Speaker 2: that they both went out with footballers and suddenly that
- 6:18Speaker 2: makes them more interesting to the mainstream media. Well, it's
- 6:21Speaker 2: like how the Herald Sun have suddenly realised who Tammy
- 6:23Speaker 2: Hembrough is after she dated Bailey Smith, who ironically is
- 6:26Speaker 2: also Izzy Armitage's ex. Now, if that wasn't enough to
- 6:30Speaker 2: indicate that this friendship was over, Izzy also got new
- 6:32Speaker 2: management away from Sam while Sam moved to London for
- 6:36Speaker 2: six months. And just last week, any hope of the
- 6:38Speaker 2: pair reuniting on air was squashed when Sam replied to
- 6:42Speaker 2: a follower who asked what was going on with Just
- 6:44Speaker 2: For Girls. And Sam replied, we're just focusing on ourselves
- 6:47Speaker 2: and our own lives. Hope you can all respect it.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Know it comes from a good place, but we're just
- 6:51Speaker 2: doing our own thing. It's really interesting that Sam actually
- 6:55Speaker 2: chose the Inherited podcast to delve into this friendship breakup because,
- 6:59Speaker 2: she hasn't really mentioned anything on her TikTok about it.
- 7:01Speaker 1: She's only really replied here and there to a few comments.
- 7:04Speaker 2: You'd almost think that she would want to get all
- 7:06Speaker 2: of the engagement on her own social media channels if
- 7:08Speaker 2: she was going to talk about something murky like a
- 7:10Speaker 2: friendship breakdown. Yeah, well, we said the same thing about
- 7:13Speaker 2: Olivia Rogers' interview on the Inherited podcast too. Like we
- 7:15Speaker 2: don't get why she didn't share some of those stories
- 7:18Speaker 2: on her own podcast. I mean, Sam, of course, also
- 7:20Speaker 2: has her own podcast, but I think it adds a
- 7:22Speaker 2: little bit of legitimacy to it. And it doesn't seem
- 7:24Speaker 2: like she's just having a bit of a rant. Like
- 7:26Speaker 2: she was asked about it and had to respond. It
- 7:29Speaker 2: kind of seems like highbrow, like especially because it's from Shameless.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Media, the podcast.
- 7:33Speaker 2: It's like, this is a very professional podcast. I've been
- 7:36Speaker 2: asked a question, so I'm going to eloquently answer it. Well,
- 7:39Speaker 2: she didn't hold back. So she described them as a
- 7:41Speaker 2: married couple who became codependent and explained that their identities
- 7:46Speaker 2: got so tied up together that they couldn't actually operate
- 7:49Speaker 2: as separate entities. She also said that they didn't know
- 7:52Speaker 2: who they were as individuals and realized ultimately they wanted
- 7:55Speaker 2: different things. Let's take a listen to more of what
- 7:58Speaker 2: Sam said.
- 7:59Speaker 6: We both wanted different things at the end of the day.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 5: So then it became hard and maybe a little bit
- 8:05Speaker 5: of resentment came there at the start, which is why
- 8:07Speaker 5: we then decided to stop it because we didn't want
- 8:10Speaker 5: it to get bad.
- 8:11Speaker 6: So resentment when you were working together? Well, it was like, well,
- 8:14Speaker 6: I want to go to Byron next week.
- 8:15Speaker 5: And she was like, well, you can't go to Byron
- 8:17Speaker 5: next week because we have this together. And it was like, well, okay,
- 8:20Speaker 5: both of us have to go to Byron. All of that.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 6: It was like, okay, well then both of us have
- 8:23Speaker 6: to go to Byron if we want to make it work.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Your one package.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Yeah. So it was like, you can't go here without
- 8:28Speaker 5: that person and everything like that. So then it was like,
- 8:31Speaker 5: Sometimes in friendships as well, it's like you choose when
- 8:34Speaker 5: you want to hang out with someone. And we started
- 8:36Speaker 5: the podcast because we were friends. And then it was like, okay, well,
- 8:40Speaker 5: I have to see you. Now we're in business together.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Now we're in business together.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Navigating that friendship.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 5: And it was no longer a choice. It was like
- 8:47Speaker 5: you're forced to be there. And I think that does
- 8:50Speaker 5: in your early 20s. put a strain on your friendship
- 8:53Speaker 5: and we were like we don't want it to put
- 8:55Speaker 5: a strain on our friendship we want to stop it
- 8:57Speaker 5: before a big blow up on the internet happens and
- 9:00Speaker 5: you're having like a big issue so that's why we
- 9:03Speaker 5: decided like what can we put into place yeah to
- 9:06Speaker 5: savor what we have and to appreciate what we have
- 9:09Speaker 5: until the point where we hate what we have and
- 9:11Speaker 5: I think it was like the perfect way to grow
- 9:14Speaker 5: our careers but yeah having separate things and we are
- 9:17Speaker 5: both different people It's.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Funny because I think Sam was trying to answer this
- 9:23Speaker 2: question as professionally as possible, but then she got caught
- 9:25Speaker 2: up in the moment and was like, and then she
- 9:27Speaker 2: said I couldn't go to Byron. And then also that
- 9:29Speaker 2: mention of, oh, we wanted to stop things before a
- 9:32Speaker 2: big blow up on the internet happened. To me, it
- 9:35Speaker 2: seems like they did have a big friendship bust up
- 9:37Speaker 2: and it was getting so nasty to the point that
- 9:39Speaker 2: one of them was going to call the other out
- 9:41Speaker 2: online if they didn't agree to go their separate ways.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I feel like it's one of those instances where they
- 9:45Speaker 2: both probably had so much dirt on each other it
- 9:47Speaker 2: wasn't worth either of them exposing one another. I mean,
- 9:50Speaker 2: we heard Lucy Jackson talk about that recently saying there
- 9:53Speaker 2: was no way she would ever break up her friendship
- 9:55Speaker 2: with Nikki Westcott because she's got so much dirt on her.
- 9:58Speaker 2: You just couldn't do that.
- 9:59Speaker 1: How awkward.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Was it during the interview when the host Ruby Hall
- 10:02Speaker 2: asked Sam about her breakup with her AFL ex, Caleb Poulter?
- 10:06Speaker 2: So Ruby asked her, how does it affect the healing
- 10:08Speaker 2: process for you when your ex has such a big
- 10:11Speaker 2: public profile?
- 10:12Speaker 1: This is what she said.
- 10:13Speaker 5: I think you should ask him that question because I
- 10:16Speaker 5: think not in like a stuck up way, I have
- 10:18Speaker 5: a bit more of a more public-facing career than he does.
- 10:22Speaker 6: I think he didn't– I don't really know. I'm sorry.
- 10:26Speaker 5: I've got him blocked, so I don't really know what
- 10:27Speaker 5: he does. I don't know if he's a poster or not,
- 10:30Speaker 5: everything like that. I think it would have been weirder
- 10:32Speaker 5: for him because I would have been the one posting
- 10:34Speaker 5: about the breakup. Of course.
- 10:36Speaker 6: You were the one on the podcast. Yeah, like I'm
- 10:38Speaker 6: speaking about it now. How do you feel, mate? Like
- 10:41Speaker 6: I don't know. I don't speak to you, but I
- 10:43Speaker 6: think it's weird. Or navigating it publicly. Yeah, it would have.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Been really weird.
- 10:49Speaker 5: There was back and forth for a while.
- 10:50Speaker 6: And yeah, it was really weird. I think that it
- 10:53Speaker 6: got more.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Toxic after the breakup more than our relationship was because
- 10:57Speaker 5: of the public.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly. And people are saying everything and things aren't true.
- 11:02Speaker 5: And yeah, like people said that we cheated on each
- 11:05Speaker 5: other and there was like all of that and that
- 11:07Speaker 5: we're back together.
- 11:08Speaker 6: We're not back together. And it was kind of like,
- 11:10Speaker 6: I haven't spoken to you in four months.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I know that she said she didn't want to sound
- 11:14Speaker 2: stuck up, but it came across as quite big headed.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I was listening to this interview in the car and
- 11:19Speaker 2: I nearly like swerved the car when I heard it.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I was like, oh my God, this is so awkward.
- 11:23Speaker 2: And you could tell Ruby felt really awkward because she's like, oh,
- 11:25Speaker 2: I'm sorry. And I think Sam actually missed the whole
- 11:28Speaker 2: point because Caleb might not be active on social media
- 11:32Speaker 2: like she is, but he still has a public profile
- 11:34Speaker 2: being an AFL player. And particularly living in Melbourne, it's
- 11:36Speaker 2: difficult to get away from that. I mean, Sam spoke
- 11:39Speaker 2: a lot about how she needed to get out of
- 11:40Speaker 2: Melbourne and realize how lucky she is to actually live there.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And that's why she ended up spending the last six
- 11:46Speaker 2: months in london it's interesting because we had some commentary
- 11:50Speaker 2: and our facebook group saying that people have loved the
- 11:53Speaker 2: inherited podcast but the last couple of weeks they haven't
- 11:56Speaker 2: enjoyed it as much because they've had a couple of
- 11:58Speaker 2: influences on they've had m davies olivia rogers and now
- 12:01Speaker 2: sam guggenheimer and people were like oh it's not like
- 12:05Speaker 2: hitting the same as it did what did you think
- 12:07Speaker 2: about this interview Well, to be honest, I actually got
- 12:10Speaker 2: quite bored, but I'm not a huge fan of Sammy.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I'm not a fan at all of Sammy Guggenheim, but
- 12:15Speaker 2: she's just somebody that I know of on the internet.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I don't really follow her content. I liked the interview
- 12:19Speaker 2: with Olivia Rogers and I also loved the chat with
- 12:22Speaker 2: Em Davies. I thought she came across so nice. I
- 12:25Speaker 2: haven't been able to bring myself to listen to the
- 12:27Speaker 2: Em Davies one because I saw a clip of it
- 12:29Speaker 2: on Instagram and burst out crying when she was talking
- 12:31Speaker 2: about her mum and I'm like, I need to be
- 12:32Speaker 2: in the right.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Headspace to listen to that.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It was sad, but it was a good listen. But
- 12:36Speaker 2: I know where people are coming from because I think
- 12:38Speaker 2: everyone is just a bit sick of hearing influencers on
- 12:41Speaker 2: the same podcasts.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And it sort of seems like they do the rounds.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think where Inherited has gone right in
- 12:47Speaker 2: the past is choosing an angle that everyone's pretty interested in.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Like they've sort of set it up that it's not
- 12:53Speaker 2: just your basic chat show where it's like this is
- 12:55Speaker 2: this person and they do this. You know, with the
- 12:58Speaker 2: Olivia interview, she really opened up about her divorce. But
- 13:01Speaker 2: this interview with Sam Guggenheimer, while it was interesting in
- 13:04Speaker 2: terms of the friendship breakup, it came across as a
- 13:07Speaker 2: little bit vapid because all they spoke to her about
- 13:10Speaker 2: subsequently was her dating life. And if you're not really
- 13:13Speaker 2: that invested in her life, you're not really going to
- 13:16Speaker 2: care about it because it sounded just like your typical
- 13:18Speaker 2: 20-year-old girl who doesn't, you know, talking about, oh, I
- 13:21Speaker 2: went on this date and blah, blah, blah. Well, I
- 13:23Speaker 2: saw a few people in Inherited's reviews were saying, look,
- 13:26Speaker 2: I love the concept of the podcast, but they also
- 13:28Speaker 2: agreed saying, like, I'm actually kind of sick of hearing
- 13:30Speaker 2: these same people on it. And they said, I really
- 13:33Speaker 2: enjoyed the interview that they did with Michelle Andrews' mum
- 13:36Speaker 2: and that they would like to hear from more everyday
- 13:38Speaker 2: people who have really good stories to tell as opposed
- 13:40Speaker 2: to influencers. I think they're probably at that point where
- 13:43Speaker 2: they can start doing that because, I mean, the reason
- 13:46Speaker 2: why you get people with big social followings on your
- 13:49Speaker 2: podcast is to grow your listenership. And they've got a
- 13:52Speaker 2: pretty big listenership as it is. So I think that
- 13:54Speaker 2: they could probably start including that. Going back to the interview...
- 13:58Speaker 2: My favorite bit was when Sam was talking about her
- 14:01Speaker 2: parents because her dad was a headmaster at boarding schools
- 14:05Speaker 2: and she actually grew up at a boarding school since
- 14:07Speaker 2: she was eight years old. That's why she left home
- 14:09Speaker 2: so early at 20 because she's like, I don't want
- 14:11Speaker 2: to live at a boarding school any longer.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Weren't they all boys schools as well?
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they were. So her mom also works in education
- 14:18Speaker 2: and she explained they don't really know much about the
- 14:20Speaker 2: social media world. And when Ruby asked if they watch
- 14:23Speaker 2: her TikTok, she said it's pretty funny because her parents
- 14:25Speaker 2: have fake accounts. that they watched the TikToks in and
- 14:28Speaker 2: also replied to hate comments. And Sam said that her
- 14:31Speaker 2: dad was really witty while their mum ended up getting
- 14:34Speaker 2: banned for outing them. I actually love this because it
- 14:36Speaker 2: would be really hard as a parent to sit back
- 14:38Speaker 2: and just see these nasty comments about your children. Like
- 14:40Speaker 2: I can actually imagine our mum doing something similar. She's
- 14:43Speaker 2: not as tech savvy to create a fake account though.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I'm just going to be reading her comments now and
- 14:48Speaker 2: being like, which one's her mum and dad?
- 14:50Speaker 3: I have decided that we are going to have an
- 14:53Speaker 3: elective cesarean.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Laura Henshaw has been shamed online after revealing she's booked
- 14:59Speaker 2: in for an elective C-section. The founder of Fitness Empire
- 15:02Speaker 2: Kick disclosed the news to her business partner, Steph Clare-Smith,
- 15:06Speaker 2: on their podcast. Let's have a listen to some of
- 15:08Speaker 2: what she said.
- 15:10Speaker 3: I could, and people have said when I've said I'm
- 15:12Speaker 3: having a cesarean, the first thing they say to me
- 15:14Speaker 3: is like, oh, is he breached?
- 15:16Speaker 1: I'm like, no.
- 15:17Speaker 7: Interesting.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:19Speaker 1: They're like, oh, like why?
- 15:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 3: So there are times medically where you need to have
- 15:24Speaker 3: a cesarean. Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 6: But for me, it's elective.
- 15:26Speaker 3: And a lot of people, I think, especially like older generations,
- 15:29Speaker 3: just think like, oh, well, if there's, what's the medical reason?
- 15:32Speaker 3: Because why would you not want to deliver vaginally? And
- 15:35Speaker 3: for me, I don't have, it's so interesting because I
- 15:39Speaker 3: always thought when I thought about myself, okay, I don't know,
- 15:41Speaker 3: I love challenging myself. And so I thought that I
- 15:44Speaker 3: would be like, yes, I want to have a vaginal birth.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I don't have a bone in my body.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Like I can't even explain to you that wants to, I, Now.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Laura told Steph that she thought long and hard about
- 15:57Speaker 2: the decision and had consulted with her doctor. It turns
- 16:00Speaker 2: out that one of Laura's biggest fears is tearing during childbirth.
- 16:03Speaker 2: So she visited a pelvic floor specialist who measured her
- 16:07Speaker 2: perineal length. And this can help determine whether you are
- 16:10Speaker 2: going to tear or not. I was surprised that this
- 16:12Speaker 2: was even a thing. I never heard about it when
- 16:14Speaker 2: I was going through my pregnancy. Yeah, I had never
- 16:16Speaker 2: heard about this before. And Laura went on to say
- 16:19Speaker 2: that her pelvic floor specialist, Rachel, also warned her about incontinence,
- 16:23Speaker 2: which can occur as a result of vaginal birth. Let's
- 16:26Speaker 2: have a listen to what she said.
- 16:28Speaker 3: But as we were talking, Rach said to me, have
- 16:31Speaker 3: you ever had incontinence? Like, have you ever proved yourself before?
- 16:35Speaker 3: And I was like, what? Why is this in this conversation?
- 16:38Speaker 4: Like in my head, I'm like pelvic floor is your like,
- 16:41Speaker 4: we're just weeing. And I didn't even think. And I
- 16:45Speaker 4: was like, well, I actually approved myself running before. She's like,
- 16:48Speaker 4: how often?
- 16:49Speaker 3: And I told her. And she was like, okay, well,
- 16:52Speaker 3: if you have had incontinence before, if you have– now,
- 16:59Speaker 3: the chance of having a tear, like a third or
- 17:01Speaker 3: fourth degree tear, is quite low. I think it's 1
- 17:03Speaker 3: in 20 or something like that, 6%. But if you
- 17:06Speaker 3: do have that tear, there is a likely– Your incontinence
- 17:10Speaker 3: would get worse.
- 17:11Speaker 7: It's possible.
- 17:11Speaker 3: It is possible.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:13Speaker 3: That my incontinence would get worse. And I was like, okay,
- 17:16Speaker 3: that for me is the last.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Like that was really helpful information.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I mean, they really went there with the whole pooing
- 17:22Speaker 2: themselves thing. It didn't really surprise me, though, that Laura
- 17:25Speaker 2: wanted to have a C-section because she is such a
- 17:28Speaker 2: self-proclaimed control freak. Like she has a type A personality.
- 17:32Speaker 2: And I feel like this is actually the best option
- 17:34Speaker 2: for her. Having been someone that has had a C-section,
- 17:37Speaker 2: you know exactly what date you're going in. You do
- 17:40Speaker 2: feel a bit more in control with the situation because
- 17:42Speaker 2: of that very reason. Well, at the end of the day,
- 17:45Speaker 2: whatever she chooses for herself is the best for herself.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I just don't understand why women have to shame other
- 17:52Speaker 2: women for how they choose to give birth. It's insane.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And Laura also said another huge motivating factor for her
- 17:58Speaker 2: booking in a C-section is is the fact that her
- 18:00Speaker 2: husband Dalton has a huge fear of hospitals. So he
- 18:04Speaker 2: has said that his biggest fear is actually Laura dying
- 18:07Speaker 2: during childbirth. So Laura opting for a C-section has apparently
- 18:10Speaker 2: made him feel a lot more in control of the situation.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I have to admit, when Laura said that, I was like,
- 18:16Speaker 2: oh no, no, don't open up about that because I
- 18:18Speaker 2: know people were going to hit back and be like,
- 18:20Speaker 2: don't you understand that there are so many risks to
- 18:22Speaker 2: having a cesarean and it's major surgery. It's like, Well,
- 18:25Speaker 2: there are also risks to having vaginal birth as well.
- 18:28Speaker 2: There is still this huge stigma around it, unfortunately. And
- 18:31Speaker 2: people were so vile to her online. So she and
- 18:34Speaker 2: the kick pod, they both reshared a clip of her
- 18:37Speaker 2: talking about her decision to have a C-section on the podcast.
- 18:41Speaker 2: And there were so many vile comments. So one said, oh,
- 18:44Speaker 2: she only wants to get a C-section to keep herself,
- 18:46Speaker 2: I quote, tidy for her husband. And another person accused
- 18:50Speaker 2: her of being too precious to push. Now, Laura responded
- 18:54Speaker 2: by sharing a TikTok entitled Dear People on the Internet.
- 18:57Speaker 1: This may shock you, but it's true. And she said this.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Hello, just a reminder that the only person who should
- 19:04Speaker 3: have an opinion on your birth preference is actually you
- 19:08Speaker 3: in consultation with your healthcare professional.
- 19:11Speaker 2: It just really frustrates me, this stigma around cesareans. When
- 19:15Speaker 2: I was waiting to go into surgery for my cesarean,
- 19:19Speaker 2: The anaesthetist actually asked me, oh, so why are you
- 19:22Speaker 2: going through a cesarean? Just don't want to push. And
- 19:25Speaker 2: this is literally like minutes before I went into major surgery.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I could not believe it. And the whole thing is
- 19:30Speaker 2: everyone was saying like, oh, does she even know the risks?
- 19:33Speaker 2: When you go into hospital and you ask for an
- 19:35Speaker 2: elective cesarean, they give you so much information about all
- 19:39Speaker 2: of the risks that come along with it. And I
- 19:41Speaker 2: remember saying, well, do you have pamphlet about the risks
- 19:44Speaker 2: of having a vaginal birth and they admitted they're like, well,
- 19:47Speaker 2: you actually don't, but there are also a lot of
- 19:49Speaker 2: risks associated with that. But there is, as you said,
- 19:52Speaker 2: just this stigma around it that, you know, it's so
- 19:54Speaker 2: much more dangerous and it's really what suits the mother. Well,
- 19:57Speaker 2: I went to a birth class because originally I was
- 20:00Speaker 2: trying to keep open-minded about the whole thing, even though
- 20:03Speaker 2: in the back of my mind, I was like, I
- 20:04Speaker 2: think I want a cesarean. And they did speak about
- 20:07Speaker 2: a lot of the risks associated with vaginal birth. I mean,
- 20:10Speaker 2: there wasn't a pamphlet and the different implements like that
- 20:13Speaker 2: and talking about fourth degree tears.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I was like, that.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Decision has been made for me. In saying that though,
- 20:18Speaker 2: there are so many people that have positive experiences giving
- 20:21Speaker 2: birth vaginally, just like they are with cesareans. And then
- 20:24Speaker 2: there are also people that have negative experiences. Like at
- 20:26Speaker 2: the end of the day, if you educate yourself on
- 20:29Speaker 2: what the risks are, you need to work out what's
- 20:32Speaker 2: best for you. I just don't even understand why people
- 20:34Speaker 2: feel the need to shame others about their own personal
- 20:37Speaker 2: choices on their own bodies. It's like the whole breastfeeding
- 20:40Speaker 2: and formula thing as well. It's like, just let people
- 20:43Speaker 2: do whatever they want. Today, we're trialing a new segment.
- 20:47Speaker 2: It's called the Friday News Dump. Essentially, it's an influencer
- 20:51Speaker 2: news version of an Instagram photo dump. So we're going
- 20:54Speaker 2: to run through some top line stories that are creating
- 20:57Speaker 2: buzz online. The first is about Emily Hembrough. So she
- 21:01Speaker 2: is set to release her own podcast called Let's Be Real.
- 21:05Speaker 2: So the podcast promises to offer listeners an honest look
- 21:08Speaker 2: behind the scenes at the highs and lows of motherhood
- 21:11Speaker 2: and entrepreneurship. Now, what's most interesting about this podcast announcement
- 21:14Speaker 2: is the fact that Emily is partnering with Nova, who
- 21:17Speaker 2: also happened to partner with Emily's former brother-in-law, Matt Sikowsky's podcast,
- 21:22Speaker 2: Where's Your Head At? How awkward.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I know.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I'm actually wondering, did the team at Nova listen to
- 21:27Speaker 2: that controversial interview that Emily did on his show and thought.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Wow, look at the ratings? Look at how outspoken she is.
- 21:34Speaker 2: We need this.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Girl on our network.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I'm calling it. Her first guest will be Tammy and
- 21:39Speaker 2: they'll do a tell all about that.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I hope so.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Now, in influencer real estate news, Ellie Watson has shocked
- 21:45Speaker 2: her followers after listing her Gold Coast hinterland home for sale. Now,
- 21:49Speaker 2: the property known as the Vale Casa was billed as
- 21:51Speaker 2: the family's forever home. However, since sharing the incredible renovations online,
- 21:56Speaker 2: The family have been bombarded with offers, so they finally
- 22:00Speaker 2: decided to put the property on the market. This is
- 22:02Speaker 2: a bit like Georgie Stevenson. This is what she did
- 22:04Speaker 2: with her dream home. Yeah, but it was a little
- 22:06Speaker 2: bit different because she realized that her dream home no
- 22:09Speaker 2: longer suited her family because she was growing her family.
- 22:13Speaker 2: She had another baby. She's like, oh, God, I don't
- 22:14Speaker 2: think this five-story mansion is going to do.
- 22:17Speaker 3: It for me.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but they were also getting a lot of big offers,
- 22:20Speaker 2: Georgie said in one of her podcasts. Now, just back
- 22:22Speaker 2: to Ellie's home, and it's set to go under the
- 22:25Speaker 2: hammer on the 15th of November. So she and her husband, Alex,
- 22:29Speaker 2: are set to more than double their investment with.
- 22:32Speaker 1: A bidding war expected.
- 22:33Speaker 2: So in 2021, they paid just over $ 1. 4 million for
- 22:37Speaker 2: the home. It is absolutely stunning. It's going to go
- 22:39Speaker 2: for so much. I mean, let's hope it's a good auction.
- 22:42Speaker 2: After the blocks auction, I'm feeling bloody nervous for them.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Do we know where she's moving to? They haven't disclosed,
- 22:48Speaker 2: but they said that they're looking for a new home
- 22:50Speaker 2: to renovate. So, I mean, that's going to be great
- 22:52Speaker 2: for a YouTube engagement because everybody loved following along. She's
- 22:56Speaker 2: got such beautiful style. Now, on a local front for
- 22:59Speaker 2: us Adelaide girls, Adelaide content creator Ella McGrath, better known
- 23:03Speaker 2: as Smiley Citrus, has revealed she made over $ 44, 000 this
- 23:07Speaker 2: month purely from content creation. Now, this is the largest
- 23:11Speaker 2: amount of money Ella has ever made as a content
- 23:13Speaker 2: creator in one month. So she quit her full-time job
- 23:16Speaker 2: over a year and a half ago. And amazingly, she's
- 23:19Speaker 2: earned nearly the same amount in one month as a
- 23:21Speaker 2: content creator than what she would have earned in a
- 23:23Speaker 2: whole year as a travel agent. To put it into perspective,
- 23:26Speaker 2: she's got around 100,000 followers on Instagram and has hit
- 23:30Speaker 2: the 70K mark on YouTube. That is big money.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 2: And she's put it down to diversifying her income streams
- 23:37Speaker 2: and also the content she shares. So originally she was
- 23:40Speaker 2: known for talking about her personal finances, which she obviously
- 23:43Speaker 2: has continued to do. And she also talks about home
- 23:46Speaker 2: and lifestyle as well as her journey into motherhood. Now,
- 23:49Speaker 2: I love all of these pervy details. So she revealed
- 23:51Speaker 2: that she made over $ 2, 000 on YouTube, 4,000 on affiliate
- 23:55Speaker 2: links and over 37,000 on brand deals. I mean, if
- 23:59Speaker 2: that doesn't tell you that micro-influencers are cleaning up in
- 24:02Speaker 2: the advertising space. Do we consider someone with 100,000 a
- 24:06Speaker 2: micro-influencer though? Well, if you compare her to say a
- 24:09Speaker 2: Tammy Hembrough who's got what, like 15 million followers or
- 24:11Speaker 2: Sarah's Day who's got a million, yeah, in the scheme
- 24:14Speaker 2: of things, 100,000 is a micro-influencer. I think they're mega-influencers.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I mean, I think she's on the cusp. Like I
- 24:19Speaker 2: think she's probably just surpassed being a micro-influencer. I liked
- 24:23Speaker 2: how she reiterated to her followers that she wasn't a
- 24:26Speaker 2: big content creator and said, This just goes to show
- 24:28Speaker 2: there is so much money and so much opportunity in
- 24:30Speaker 2: this industry and truly anything is possible. Also the fact
- 24:34Speaker 2: that she was pouring her home brand milk into her
- 24:36Speaker 2: ice latte and she was wearing a Kmart top. I
- 24:39Speaker 2: think that just shows that she is one of the people.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Now moving on, Molly Mae's mum, Debbie Gordon, has hinted
- 24:46Speaker 2: she may be starting her own YouTube channel. Now I
- 24:48Speaker 2: officially want to create a petition to make sure this
- 24:50Speaker 2: actually happens because Debbie is hilarious. So during her daughter
- 24:55Speaker 2: Zoe Ray's recent vlog, She poked fun at influencers who
- 24:58Speaker 2: were always annoyingly tapping on products. I'm going to insert
- 25:01Speaker 2: a clip.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Mum is.
- 25:09Speaker 7: A frustrated vlogger. FaceTimed me the other day and she
- 25:14Speaker 7: was doing a haul of some unbits that she got
- 25:16Speaker 7: from MyProtein. And she was like picking all the jumpers
- 25:20Speaker 7: up and like... Doing this on all the labels and
- 25:22Speaker 7: stuff on the jumpers. You're really staring. And then you
- 25:24Speaker 7: were like, and then what were you saying about the jumpers?
- 25:26Speaker 7: What was the word? I'm obsessed.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Obsessed?
- 25:30Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 25:31Speaker 7: She picks up and she goes, guys, I'm so obsessed.
- 25:34Speaker 7: Like really taking a mick out of her. I'm super excited.
- 25:37Speaker 5: I'm obsessed.
- 25:39Speaker 2: She went on to reveal that she'd actually been inspired
- 25:41Speaker 2: by Anastasia Kingsnorth's mum, Julie, who created her own YouTube
- 25:46Speaker 2: channel off the back of her daughter's fame. So Julie
- 25:49Speaker 2: started the YouTube channel a couple of years ago at
- 25:51Speaker 2: the age of 50, and she's managed to make YouTubing
- 25:53Speaker 2: her full-time job. Her videos are hilarious because they're just
- 25:56Speaker 2: so relaxing. It's literally her filming herself doing an M &
- 26:00Speaker 2: S haul or her going to Tesco. There's not much
- 26:03Speaker 2: to them, but I actually watch them and find them
- 26:05Speaker 2: quite relaxing. I mean, it makes sense that Molly Mae's
- 26:07Speaker 2: mom wants to get in on the action. Zoe Ray,
- 26:09Speaker 2: her sister, has, and she's now become one of the
- 26:12Speaker 2: UK's most popular influencers.
- 26:13Speaker 1: So why not get involved?
- 26:14Speaker 2: And Zoe's husband, Danny as well. I actually think that
- 26:17Speaker 2: he's about to announce that he's leaving the army because
- 26:20Speaker 2: his YouTube channel has taken off. He's got, I think
- 26:22Speaker 2: nearly a hundred thousand followers on Instagram as well. And
- 26:24Speaker 2: you can tell that Zoe joining YouTube has changed their
- 26:28Speaker 2: life because they're just having this brand new house built
- 26:31Speaker 2: like before they were having to live in this tiny apartment.
- 26:33Speaker 2: So It is incredible what social media has done for
- 26:36Speaker 2: that family. Very lucrative for them. Now, the rumor mill
- 26:39Speaker 2: is in overdrive that Robert Irwin has a new girlfriend. Now,
- 26:42Speaker 2: I can hear Gen Z's hearts breaking across the country
- 26:45Speaker 2: as I say this. Now, Robert, who is currently competing
- 26:48Speaker 2: on the US version of Dancing with the Stars, is
- 26:50Speaker 2: rumored to be dating 19-year-old American professional dancer Hayley Bills,
- 26:55Speaker 2: who is also appearing on Dancing with the Stars. Celebrity
- 26:59Speaker 2: gossip account Dubois broke the news, sharing an email on
- 27:01Speaker 2: Tuesday which tipped them off. It said everyone's favorite Dancing
- 27:05Speaker 2: with the Stars bachelor has paused his search for his
- 27:07Speaker 2: American dream girl to have some playtime beyond the ballroom.
- 27:11Speaker 2: He went on to say, my sources tell me he's
- 27:13Speaker 2: been spotted a few times getting cozy with a brunette,
- 27:16Speaker 2: the same one he follows around on set. She's the
- 27:19Speaker 2: only troop member he follows on Instagram. Now, everyone online
- 27:23Speaker 2: has been saying that Robert's rumored new girlfriend looks a
- 27:26Speaker 2: lot like his sister Bindi Irwin. I can't see it.
- 27:30Speaker 6: What?
- 27:30Speaker 1: I don't think they look similar at all.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that one person just commented and everyone's
- 27:34Speaker 2: run with it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Well, I think that's all.
- 27:36Speaker 2: We've got time for today. Thank you so much for
- 27:38Speaker 2: listening to another episode of Outspoken. If you want to
- 27:41Speaker 2: follow us on Instagram, we are at Outspoken underscore the
- 27:45Speaker 2: underscore podcast. You can also follow Kate, Sophie and I
- 27:48Speaker 2: on Instagram too. This episode was recorded on the traditional
- 27:51Speaker 2: land of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. We
- 27:53Speaker 2: pay respect to elders past and present.
