- 0:00SPEAKER_01: This is Brendan Stacy with Let's Wind with Brendan Stacy.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: We're back with just another episode because we don't know where we've been.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Where have you been?
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: You left me.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I left you.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I went to the Chicagoland area.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: That's what the Chicagoans call it.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: La La Palooza was going on downtown, so we didn't go towards downtown.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I bet.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I've been downtown on one of our past trips.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: It was amazing.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm glad we did it.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: We went the opposite way, I guess.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I don't know which way is which.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: You know that.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I don't know that around here.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Left.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know that.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: But anyway, we went to Wisconsin.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I was so excited.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I have another state now.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: That's the furthest north I've ever been.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: We, of course, went on a boat ride, um, a little boat towards Lady of the Lake tours, what it was called.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: It had a bar on the what lake was it?
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Geneva.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: It's Lake Geneva.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I keep wanting to call it a different name, but it's Lake Geneva.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: So that was a blast.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: It had a bar on the boat, so I had a good time.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Um, and it was interesting, you know, to see all the Wrigley's home and probably their second or third home, but monstrous homes.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: It was very pretty, even though it was kind of rainy and the weather wasn't perfect.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: It was still cool, so I wasn't complaining.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I had a hat on, so I didn't care what my hair did.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it was really nice.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: How was the drive up there?
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Long.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: That's a long, long trip.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: I've also discovered for extra fun that it's hard for me to travel 12 to 14 hours in a car now because my body is just like we don't like that.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And my feet and ankles swelled from the ride up and from the ride and from the ride back.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And we stopped a lot just to get out and walk.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And of course, we had to go to Bucky's coming and going.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: I was telling Jeff when we were on our way there on the way up.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: I was like, this better not disappoint.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: So we went to Wisconsin.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I also, and while we were in Wisconsin, you can't go to Wisconsin, in my opinion, and not have beer and cheese.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: We found a place called a Topsy Turvy, and it's an old, old, old, old, old Baptist church that they have turned into a brewery.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe they had one, I just didn't notice.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: I just wanted beer.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: It was so fun, you know, trying all the different beers.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: I got a flight, of course, and enjoyed that.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And then fried cheese curds and two different flavors, and he just had to do it.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: It was like, do we are we hungry?
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Are we thirsty?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Who cares?
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: We're Wisconsin.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: We're gonna live like Wisconsin's.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: That was a hoot.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I was so excited when I found out we were going to another state.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I couldn't believe that wasn't their lead story.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Like, let's go to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: I would have been flipping out.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: You were close.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: You're pretty close up there.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know directions, and I didn't, you know, it's not like I'm gonna look at a map and study where I am.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Anyway, that shocks me.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: I want to know where I am.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, I I have no clue.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: I like aerial views.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: I had no clue where the hell nothing was.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Anytime I go somewhere now, I check that GPS because I want that aerial view of the map.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: It helps me learn my way around because my sense of direction is so off.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, I've never tried that, but um, so we did that, then had a a pool day over with family.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: We stay with Jeff's parents, his uh mom and stepdad, and they were so accommodating.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: You know, it's nice to be with family and you know, have your space and yet all be together at the same time.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And the pool party was fun, all the people were fun, seeing everybody was very nice.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I got to meet a lot of his Jacobowski side of the family and a lot of his mom's side of the family, so it was awesome.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: And just going somewhere different is fun for that long of a road trip.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Uh it's hard for me to sleep with Jeff driving.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: I was wondering, that's what I wanted to ask about.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: The driving.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: How did that go?
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Because I know he has a bit of a lead foot.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: He does have a bit of a lead foot.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: He gets too close for comfort toward the next car.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: I feel like I have to stay awake to maintain right who's gonna scream if I'm asleep.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: And I have real bad FOMO.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: I have fear of missing out on what we're gonna see or what we're gonna pass, or even though there's m miles and miles and hours and hours of nothing but cornfields, it's interesting to see the windmills, wind turbines, and how they live.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And we talked a lot about corn.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't want I love corn.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I love corn too, but I don't want the corn that's growing closest to the road.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Well, not highway, I don't want highway corn.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: You don't want exhaust corn.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm like, I don't want that.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: What's your favorite kind of corn?
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: On the cob.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: On the cob.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Flavor it all up.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Cream corn, pop corn.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: I don't want the highway corn.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: But Jeff goes, Jeff goes, oh, they use that corn as feed.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I'm like, well then we it's the same, like, we're not directly eating it, but they're feeding it to the animals we eat.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: I know that I eat.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: So you might as well just put your mouth right around the exhaust on that car.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Might as well just suck it in.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: Pretend you're eating corn.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Pretend I'm eating corn.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Well, I missed you while you were gone.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: I know, I miss being home.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: You know, there's no place like home.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: That is true.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: That's what I heard from the Wizard of Oz.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: There's no place like home.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: It is true though.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: You know sleeping your own bed and pooping your own toilet.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: It is nice to go.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: I I do like going places and doing that.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And it was nice.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: We had a down day after driving up there all day.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: We had to have a down day of nothingness.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: So that was even a nice day.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: You know, to just hang out and relax and wear my moo moo and you know, enjoy your day.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Oh well, when you were gone, I went to a pottery place.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: I'm so jealous.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Well, you'll be going with me next time.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: We've got to make something for the Let's Wine podcast.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: I'm going.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: I'm going.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: We will do that.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: And then I went off to Catsit for two nights for our coworker.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: So I got to cuddle with kitties.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: I know, and I got paid in wine.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, if you they paid you money, you would just go spend it online.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: So there you go.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: They made it easy.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: And then I had it there if I needed it.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: It was.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: And it it was a place that was closer to work too, so I got it.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: I got pampered.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Oh the drive was easy there and back.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: So I got to play with Loki and Tim.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: That's cute.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: And it's funny because one's a lover in the evening and one's a lover by day.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: But I thought it was gonna be the other way around.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: But Loki was the one that slept in the bed with me.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Good boy.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Aww.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: And then you got to get your kitty fix.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Kitty pets and kitty fixes and I know I think it's funny the first thing you asked me, did you bring a cat home?
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I was curious if you're gonna try to steal one.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I tried to steal a dog while we were in Chicago.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I believe it.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: And where is it?
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Apparently these people are too attached to give me one.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: You know, it's hard to talk somebody out of their animal.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: You know, I think she'd have been like, you take my husband, but you're not taking my animals.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: It's easier than now.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: So I did not bring home an amazing animal.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: But we're getting there.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: And we've got another trip coming up soon, and after that's done, I think Jeff and I agreed we're gonna talk about it.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: We're gonna start talking about it.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: And then after that, you got Scotty coming.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Hey, me, Scotty, why are you coming to see me?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: We'll have to drag him in here and talk about some dumb shit he's got going on.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: We just wanted to tell everybody the dumb shit we've been doing the past few days because last week we just kind of did a happy summer and we'll be back on track next week.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: We're gonna do a part two of the Assumptions episode, but we've actually been gone.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: This was kind of put on the back burner.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: But we're still here.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: We're not stopping anytime soon.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I I still I'm just to the point.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: I know I I was uh gave away gave out some cards while uh we were traveling, and you said you had two in the last few days.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: We listened to podcasts, not ours, but other podcasts on the way up there, and we're not doing too bad.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Well, good.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I know our first, I don't know what, several maybe episodes were rusty, and but we left them because they're part of our history, but I think we're doing really well.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: I took it.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Tell people to work backwards through the episodes if they're gonna listen.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: I gave out cards too to the girl at it's called iCandy Art Studio, and I gave her some cards and I saw that they're following us now.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: So I can't wait to go back and get my cup, and we'll have to go back and make something.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And you and Jeff need a date there.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a cute place, and it's in Duluth, it's not far.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Definitely, definitely I wanna go.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Definitely.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: I want to go, definitely.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'd already talked to him about that when I saw the pictures that you posted in like.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: That's a good question.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I need to find that out.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Because some of those like painting with a twist, they let you bring stuff in.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: That's a good one.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: Like, or at least like if we buy it next door, is this like a partner company that we can bring it over while we're painting?
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: That's a good question.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't have to bring my own bottle.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: I'll definitely pay for the whole point is just having it while we're yeah, just to have a little sippy sip bringing my zippy cup baby.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: While you're creating.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: While I'm creating, but I'm being creative.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: I can't wait.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: I know I can't wait to get the callers.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: I'm ready for them to call you and say, hey, your item's ready, come get it.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Because I think it's so cool.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: It just sounds fun.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: I've been to something like that before and uh boy have I.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: And uh it was um it was neat, you know, and you have something, you know, I created something.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: It's been gosh over 30 years.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: But I still have it.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: And I still have the Valentine's Day thing that Scott and I made.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: I sent you a picture of that this morning.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Like you and Jeff have to make something together.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter what it is.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: But I use that little heart-shaped bowl all the time.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: Upstairs right now, it has my pens in it and my fireplace remote and TV remote, all that stuff gets thrown in that yeah, little dish.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: So it's useful.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: So let's go.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: Our regular shows will resume next week.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: I can't wait.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: So we wrap in this one just to say this is where we've been.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: We've been cap sitting Chicago, Wisconsin.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: And I worked.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: I and I did work through the weekend too.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know, did I?
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: I'm a working girl.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: I'm sure this weekend I'll be there all damn week.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: They're gonna use and abuse you now that you're back.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: And then we gotta get a probably a couple of recordings in next week because then I'm gonna be gone again for like four days.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Four or five days.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's good.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: You hear what's happening in the background?
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: I hear.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Yep, another storm coming.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: No, another storm coming.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna wrap it up.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: We got TV shows to catch up on that we missed for the week.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: I go back to work tomorrow since we didn't come rich while we were gone.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Or you start a conversation.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: How much longer do you think I should work, Jeff?
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Did you do that too?
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: What do you say?
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Well, it's complicated.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: We can talk about that another time.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Like what's the perfect age to retire?
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: Uh 52, in my opinion.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: We'll come back and talk about that some other time when we're back on our regular scheduled thing.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Yes, so we'll be back next week.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's do it on Let's Wine with Brendan and Stacey.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Bye.
