- 0:01Speaker 1: Coming up.
- 0:02Speaker 2: On this week's episode of hip Hop Now Podcast, Redman
- 0:06Speaker 2: dropped the cover art and plans for Muddy Waters Too.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I know I'm a week late, but we're going to talk
- 0:13Speaker 2: about it. Cameron claims Drake is one of hip hop's
- 0:18Speaker 2: best slick talkers and thinks it gets overlooked. And Tyler
- 0:24Speaker 2: the creator and Earth Game announced new albums to be
- 0:28Speaker 2: released on old school release dates. I don't know if
- 0:35Speaker 2: it makes a difference, but let's do it.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Welcome to Jimpop Now Podcast. If you're from the future,
- 0:46Speaker 1: you know what to do. Show us out.
- 0:52Speaker 2: So disrespect the leg hip hop is here today.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Let's get rightful to the business. What up, y'all? I
- 1:00Speaker 1: am your host, Vegas E.
- 1:02Speaker 2: This is hip Hop Now Podcasts, a podcast specifically designed
- 1:06Speaker 2: to keep you caught up on all things hip hop,
- 1:09Speaker 2: music and culture that happened throughout the week. Big shout
- 1:14Speaker 2: out to the supporters over at patreon dot com slash
- 1:17Speaker 2: hip hop Now. The link to find out all about
- 1:20Speaker 2: that is in the description of this episode. Also, super
- 1:24Speaker 2: big shout out to all the subscribers to hip Hop
- 1:28Speaker 2: Now Podcasts on YouTube. Like I said before in the
- 1:33Speaker 2: last episode, we did it. We reached five hundred subscribers.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I want to thank everybody that came through. But there's
- 1:41Speaker 2: only one way to go from there, and that's up.
- 1:45Speaker 2: So we are now on the road to one thousand,
- 1:47Speaker 2: which shouldn't be difficult either. Again, you know, I've seen channels.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I watch a lot of YouTube, you know, I really
- 1:55Speaker 2: watch it like television more than television, which is crazy.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But there are a lot of channels with less production values,
- 2:03Speaker 2: less content and things like al You know, I like
- 2:08Speaker 2: to eat a lot of chips, so I try the
- 2:10Speaker 2: new chips or I try the new oreos on camera.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong, I'm addicted to watching it just
- 2:15Speaker 2: like you. But if you like my content along with
- 2:20Speaker 2: that content, and that content tends that way more subscribers
- 2:24Speaker 2: than I do having news stories for you every week
- 2:28Speaker 2: that don't all center around certain people coming home from
- 2:33Speaker 2: jail or people going to jail. You know, I'm talking
- 2:39Speaker 2: about damn freakofs. My content is just a resource that
- 2:46Speaker 2: you can go to and say, what albums are coming out,
- 2:49Speaker 2: what albums are out, what have you heard, what do
- 2:52Speaker 2: you think about them? You know, to get some perspective,
- 2:55Speaker 2: and obviously I want your perspective in the comment section.
- 2:59Speaker 2: But it is the road to one thousand subscribers. It's
- 3:04Speaker 2: helping the channel grow and more importantly, become visible in
- 3:10Speaker 2: the algorithm. I'm here to say that stat wise, more
- 3:17Speaker 2: people are finding this channel based off of YouTube's homepage
- 3:23Speaker 2: and suggestions.
- 3:25Speaker 1: That wasn't the case once upon a time.
- 3:27Speaker 2: But now that we hit five hundred subscribers, now we
- 3:29Speaker 2: in the eye the storm.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You feel me? And what does that do well?
- 3:33Speaker 2: That gets this kind of content to people who don't
- 3:36Speaker 2: know about it, who would enjoy it. So I want
- 3:39Speaker 2: to thank everybody who subscribed, everybody who's hit the light button,
- 3:42Speaker 2: everybody who's commented.
- 3:44Speaker 1: All of that.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Stuff counts, and especially sharing it with people you know
- 3:49Speaker 2: would also enjoy this kind of content. You got a page,
- 3:52Speaker 2: you got a discorder, whatever, post it there, Reddit, post
- 3:55Speaker 2: it there.
- 3:55Speaker 1: You know.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I'm on every social media site, and the reason why
- 3:58Speaker 2: I'm giving this pledge of on my pledge, but your
- 4:03Speaker 2: pledge to subscribe is all this pitch I should say.
- 4:09Speaker 2: It's because again, my stats show that more than fifty
- 4:13Speaker 2: percent of people who press play on the video are
- 4:16Speaker 2: not subscribers. Some people are popping in one time. I
- 4:20Speaker 2: get it, but there are a lot of people who
- 4:23Speaker 2: do come back, who will go and search to see
- 4:26Speaker 2: if I have a new episode. Well don't worry, I
- 4:28Speaker 2: fam just hit the subscribe button and hit that notification
- 4:31Speaker 2: bell and you're locked in.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You won't even have to go look.
- 4:35Speaker 2: You just get a notification that Vegas posted a new
- 4:38Speaker 2: video and there you have it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So I appreciate everybody's support.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Rod to one thousand, Well I wouldn't mind one hundred thousand,
- 4:47Speaker 2: but Baby Steps subscribers here on YouTube, and big shout
- 4:51Speaker 2: out to the people who have always supported on the
- 4:54Speaker 2: audio side of this podcast, because that's where it begins.
- 4:57Speaker 2: So there you have it now, big shout out to
- 5:01Speaker 2: Hip HOPDX dot com double XL. You know sometimes they
- 5:06Speaker 2: don't be on the nonsense, so I'll be like, okay,
- 5:08Speaker 2: good good looking out on the story and a couple
- 5:11Speaker 2: of places where I get some of these stories from.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Let's get ready to business though, so once again, and
- 5:21Speaker 2: I don't even want to be this way, but I
- 5:23Speaker 2: might just say it.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So, what feels like the better part of ten years Redman.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I don't know if it has been, but damn it, it
- 5:32Speaker 2: feels like it. It feels like Redman has been announcing
- 5:38Speaker 2: and promoting the fact that his next album will be
- 5:42Speaker 2: Muddy Waters two for close to ten years, if not more.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I am not lying. It's pre pandemic and all of that. Now,
- 5:50Speaker 2: of course, we can look at certain things, right. Maybe
- 5:52Speaker 2: when he initially announced it, it wasn't ready, you know
- 5:55Speaker 2: what I'm saying. Maybe it wasn't ready, right, he was
- 5:59Speaker 2: just still working on Maybe he wanted it while he
- 6:02Speaker 2: released freestyles and mixtape type joints. He wanted to let
- 6:06Speaker 2: you know, but don't forget, Muddy Waters Too is on
- 6:09Speaker 2: the way. And then it got to the point where
- 6:12Speaker 2: we just didn't believe him anymore, and he would keep
- 6:15Speaker 2: saying it. And I think last year he said it
- 6:17Speaker 2: and try to is on the way, and it was
- 6:19Speaker 2: just like, dog, I don't know if we can anymore. Well,
- 6:24Speaker 2: now I guess he heard that message and said, Yo,
- 6:29Speaker 2: Muddy Waters Too, It's on the way. Here's the album cover,
- 6:34Speaker 2: and I ain't gonna lie. I got a little excited.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Got a little excited, So let's go to hip hop
- 6:40Speaker 2: d x dot com Redman fuse Muddy Waters Too t
- 6:46Speaker 2: excitement by unveeling nostalgic cove ard. Now, y'all see the
- 6:52Speaker 2: cover right now, I'm trying to figure out what's nostalgic
- 6:56Speaker 2: about it. If you remember the original Muddy Waters album cover,
- 7:02Speaker 2: he's like covered in mud, sitting in like what's the cabin?
- 7:05Speaker 2: So maybe he's outside the cabin. Maybe that was his house.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I don't know, but maybe he's outside of the head.
- 7:11Speaker 2: You know, I got some mud on his thins, but
- 7:14Speaker 2: I don't know. Let's just read a little bit more
- 7:15Speaker 2: before we start judging. Redman has continued to stoke the
- 7:19Speaker 2: fire for his long awaited album, Muddy Waters two by
- 7:22Speaker 2: unveling its official cover art. A sequel to his highly
- 7:25Speaker 2: acclaimed nineteen ninety six LP Muddy Waters. The forthcoming project's
- 7:30Speaker 2: artwork features a retro ninety five and depicts the rat
- 7:34Speaker 2: legend crouching in front of a house illuminated with an
- 7:38Speaker 2: ominous red glow. Muddy Waters two will also serve as
- 7:42Speaker 2: Redman's first album in nine years. So I was, I
- 7:46Speaker 2: was close, I sit ten and his latest update certainly
- 7:50Speaker 2: has fans excited, including some of Reggie's rat pits. A
- 7:55Speaker 2: longtime partner in Ron method Man commented on his Instagram
- 7:59Speaker 2: post fire mooji plaus moji, while fellow New York, New
- 8:05Speaker 2: York of Bustin ROMs added oh ish flush face emoji.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Now Alchemists appeared to be Redman's chief cheerleader and wrote
- 8:18Speaker 2: drop this immediately, please, I'm totally with it now. Other
- 8:23Speaker 2: people commented like DJ Premier, Pete rock Quest Love ferroal
- 8:27Speaker 2: Monts Status selected sharing the excitement.
- 8:32Speaker 1: But I'm just going to keep it.
- 8:35Speaker 2: One thousand, one, one hundred percent over one hundred percent
- 8:42Speaker 2: with y'all. I am cautiously optimistic. That's me recognized in
- 8:51Speaker 2: my fandom as a big Redman fan, that there was
- 8:54Speaker 2: a point in time Redman's first three first four albums
- 8:59Speaker 2: Redman was my favorite rapper, like hands down, like Biggie
- 9:03Speaker 2: is my favorite of all time. But that came with
- 9:06Speaker 2: time for me to say something like that. Right, I
- 9:09Speaker 2: knew he was my favorite, but I wasn't committed and
- 9:12Speaker 2: he died and it just it got crazy. But at
- 9:15Speaker 2: the time when Redman dropped, and particularly mainly his two
- 9:20Speaker 2: first albums, right, it's too what is it?
- 9:24Speaker 1: What the album? And there's a dark side?
- 9:26Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I think he my favorite rapper, right,
- 9:30Speaker 2: And Redman released before Biggie, so we get it.
- 9:33Speaker 1: But he was like my favorite rapper.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Even going into his fourth album, which you know, Docs
- 9:39Speaker 2: the name wasn't really what I wanted, but it wasn't
- 9:41Speaker 2: that bad, and he was already three for three before that,
- 9:45Speaker 2: with Muddy Waters being arguably his best album, So me
- 9:50Speaker 2: being cautially cautiously optimistic is just like I'm a big
- 9:55Speaker 2: fan and I long for the days when Redman was
- 10:00Speaker 2: who he was on those three albums.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Now lyrically he has not missed a beat. He's still dope,
- 10:07Speaker 1: he's still interesting, he's still funny. But the problem I've
- 10:11Speaker 1: had with Redman in recent years as far as his
- 10:14Speaker 1: albums and why I'm not as big of a fan
- 10:18Speaker 1: of albums post dots the name because malpractice, complete garbage,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and then it was a mixed bag of stuff. It's
- 10:26Speaker 1: because the music changed.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I like Redman over Eric Sermon funk style beats, and
- 10:34Speaker 2: from what I'm hearing, this is not entirely produced by
- 10:39Speaker 2: Eric Sermon, and that's concerning. Now, maybe there's one song
- 10:44Speaker 2: produced by him, I don't think so, and I don't
- 10:49Speaker 2: remember offhand, which kind of sucks. Who was actually I
- 10:55Speaker 2: don't even know if this was a rumor of who
- 10:58Speaker 2: was going to produce the album. Yeah, I don't see
- 11:01Speaker 2: it here in they report or I missed it, but
- 11:04Speaker 2: it didn't say Eric Sermon, And that's concerning to me
- 11:08Speaker 2: because it's like, I know it was bars twice.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I know I didn't miss it.
- 11:14Speaker 2: But mainly because what the album when it came out
- 11:17Speaker 2: as debut, Red Man sound different. The production was like
- 11:21Speaker 2: fibrin and dope songs like blow Your Mind and Tonight's
- 11:27Speaker 2: to Night and Superman Lover. It was just so refreshing
- 11:32Speaker 2: from what we were used to in hip hop. And
- 11:34Speaker 2: then Dad the Dark Side was like really muddy but
- 11:37Speaker 2: really down in the dumps with the funk sound, and
- 11:41Speaker 2: I felt like Muddy Waters was like a combination of
- 11:44Speaker 2: those two albums in one, which made it perfect to me.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And similar to how Good Kid Man City if you
- 11:52Speaker 2: look at Good Kid Mass City and to Pimp a
- 11:55Speaker 2: Butterfly and Damn, feels like it borrows from both a
- 12:00Speaker 2: lot of ways, you know what I'm saying, Like the
- 12:02Speaker 2: perfected formula of the variety that Kendrick could come up with.
- 12:06Speaker 1: That's what I felt with Redman.
- 12:08Speaker 2: But I haven't been enthusiastic about his music lately and
- 12:13Speaker 2: the freestyles and stuff like after watching almost ten years
- 12:18Speaker 2: or those and not getting what he said he was
- 12:21Speaker 2: going to do with Muddy Waters too, I'm not that optimistic.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And I'll say this, there have been a couple of
- 12:29Speaker 2: sequels that have been successful, right, Like you can call
- 12:34Speaker 2: Stillmatic a sequel to Illmatic, right, you can tie it
- 12:37Speaker 2: together similar titles or whatever. But Nas, you know, they said,
- 12:43Speaker 2: I make another Ellmatic, but it's only forward. I'm moving,
- 12:46Speaker 2: never back with stupid. Here's another classic, Senses Falling from
- 12:50Speaker 2: the Sky. Like to me, that was like, oh, it's
- 12:54Speaker 2: not an Illmatic part two as in the same thing.
- 12:59Speaker 2: It's the evolution of NAS, you know what I'm saying.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And it was. It was so dope. And I think
- 13:04Speaker 2: Sotmatic is a classic. I really think Brave Heart Party
- 13:07Speaker 2: you take that off. The rest of the songs are flawless,
- 13:11Speaker 2: not perfect, No, no album's perfect, but you know what
- 13:13Speaker 2: I mean. The rest of the album is good to great,
- 13:18Speaker 2: And I feel like obviously only Built for Cuba Links
- 13:22Speaker 2: two was excellent. But then you go to Do or
- 13:27Speaker 2: Die too with a Z and I can't say I'm
- 13:30Speaker 2: the biggest fan of the first Door Die. I feel
- 13:32Speaker 2: like it needed a little bit some more songs and
- 13:34Speaker 2: some more songs.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I love it, don't get me wrong.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I love the Aznins songs on Dough or Die one,
- 13:42Speaker 2: but I felt like NAS was on that album so
- 13:44Speaker 2: much that it was almost giving me a ghost face vibe,
- 13:48Speaker 2: and I just wanted more solo as songs. Well, when
- 13:52Speaker 2: he made Door Die two, I thought it would be
- 13:55Speaker 2: dope so much better. I thought it would be an
- 13:57Speaker 2: evolution and the covers crazy, But it was hit or
- 14:01Speaker 2: miss on that album for me, so you know, and
- 14:05Speaker 2: that's just one example. But it doesn't always work right.
- 14:09Speaker 2: It just doesn't always work when you do sequels. And
- 14:13Speaker 2: I'm afraid because this particular song or not song, but
- 14:18Speaker 2: this particular album, Muddy Waters is literally the best in
- 14:22Speaker 2: his catalog. Tough to beat, and how you evolve from that,
- 14:27Speaker 2: and maybe evolving from that is not getting with Eeric
- 14:30Speaker 2: Sermon and retreaded old ground, But I feel like that
- 14:33Speaker 2: needs to happen because everything he's been releasing without Eric
- 14:37Speaker 2: Sermon mostly falls on death is amongst most hip hop fans,
- 14:42Speaker 2: Like I know there are some people who YO, but
- 14:44Speaker 2: I like, you know, Rad going Wild and Reggie and
- 14:47Speaker 2: blah blah blah, but you are in the minority. There's
- 14:50Speaker 2: some people who didn't even know he had other albums.
- 14:53Speaker 2: They just see the free styts. So I said all
- 14:56Speaker 2: of that mainly because I'm a huge Redman fan and
- 15:00Speaker 2: I want it to be dope. Unfortunately, Red Men laid
- 15:05Speaker 2: out a plan for this that included single drops, and
- 15:11Speaker 2: I was like, okay, cool, right around the corner, because
- 15:14Speaker 2: when you show your album cover you start talking about
- 15:17Speaker 2: the music, that means that joint dropping at least November. Nope,
- 15:23Speaker 2: you will not see this album to sometime in August
- 15:28Speaker 2: of twenty twenty five. Now we say that now because
- 15:33Speaker 2: we're in fall. Like man, it's a long time ago,
- 15:36Speaker 2: a time away, but maybe waiting will be good. But
- 15:41Speaker 2: showing us, oh, this single gonna drop in April four twenty,
- 15:45Speaker 2: and this one's gonna drop in five twenty and six twenty,
- 15:48Speaker 2: we're gonna do this.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And I'm just like, why don't you just drop the
- 15:53Speaker 1: album on for.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Twenty What I'm saying, I would love that. Everybody would
- 15:59Speaker 2: love that. So I don't know, like I said, cautiously optimistic.
- 16:09Speaker 2: So Cameron claims Drake is one of hip hop's best
- 16:12Speaker 2: slick talkers and thinks he's getting overlooked. Let's see if
- 16:19Speaker 2: we could find a quote from Cameron actually saying this
- 16:21Speaker 2: quote outside of the recent thing with Kendrick Lamar. Drake
- 16:25Speaker 2: is one of the slickeest talkers ever in wrap. People
- 16:30Speaker 2: always overlook that because he's light skinned and he can sing,
- 16:34Speaker 2: or he's from Toronto or whatever. But this n word
- 16:38Speaker 2: slick talk is ridiculous. Man, He talked ish, how do
- 16:44Speaker 2: I feel about it? Tell me how you feel about
- 16:47Speaker 2: it in the comment section of this podcast. But I
- 16:53Speaker 2: would tend to agree now for those who don't really
- 16:58Speaker 2: know Drake's work like that, because there's a lot of
- 17:00Speaker 2: people who comment on Drake negatively who don't really know
- 17:05Speaker 2: his work right to even judge it to you know,
- 17:09Speaker 2: maybe they're looking at one thing, but they don't realize
- 17:11Speaker 2: what Cameron is saying is, you know, the totality of
- 17:15Speaker 2: Drake's work. He doesn't release hip hop albums like that
- 17:20Speaker 2: to me, right, at least not on a regular but
- 17:23Speaker 2: he has plenty of songs on a number of those
- 17:26Speaker 2: albums that where he's spitting and he's slick talking, and
- 17:32Speaker 2: he's done it on features. He got a lot of
- 17:34Speaker 2: famous verses. When I talk about the Soldier boy joint.
- 17:36Speaker 2: We know he took that, but he has enough bars
- 17:42Speaker 2: as far as his catalog and features and Lucy songs
- 17:48Speaker 2: here and there, no matter what it was for, he
- 17:50Speaker 2: has some So I agree with Cameron, and I think
- 17:55Speaker 2: it has somewhat to do with some of the things
- 17:57Speaker 2: he mentioned, right. I don't know if it has to
- 17:59Speaker 2: do with it being like and like that's a joke
- 18:01Speaker 2: that you know, black people like to say, you know
- 18:04Speaker 2: what I'm saying, how we joke with each other lights
- 18:05Speaker 2: in the dark skin. But I think it does have
- 18:08Speaker 2: something to do more so with the image of being
- 18:12Speaker 2: a singer, you know, and the type of music he makes.
- 18:16Speaker 2: People forget that the drake you see with twenty one
- 18:20Speaker 2: Savage isn't the drake that was rocking for like ten
- 18:23Speaker 2: years he was. He rhymes very differently. He did some
- 18:26Speaker 2: of that in the battle, but not as much as
- 18:28Speaker 2: I would have liked, to be honest, But he's had
- 18:32Speaker 2: some lines.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Now. I will say this, I feel like, like I've talked,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you know about.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Drake and tooting his lips out and pitches and all
- 18:43Speaker 2: that dumb stuff, and I get it, but that's not
- 18:46Speaker 2: the music. That's not the reason why I like him, like, Oh,
- 18:48Speaker 2: I like the way he dress, I like the baretz
- 18:50Speaker 2: in his head. I don't care about that. It affects
- 18:54Speaker 2: some people and I get it. But at the end
- 18:56Speaker 2: of the day, if the music's dope, I don't care
- 18:58Speaker 2: what you dress like. You know, it's whatever. But what
- 19:03Speaker 2: I do feel like is happening, and I don't know
- 19:06Speaker 2: if it's necessary.
- 19:08Speaker 1: There are a number of.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Media outlets, hip hop media outlets and now even though
- 19:15Speaker 2: this is a sports outlet, or Cameron in general, who
- 19:20Speaker 2: are trying to remind people of why they like Drake
- 19:24Speaker 2: because they feel like there's a campaign of hate towards Drake.
- 19:30Speaker 2: I don't think so. I think he lost the battle.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I think the Internet had fun with it like they do.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:37Speaker 2: You can't ask the Internet to not be the Internet.
- 19:40Speaker 2: That's what they're gonna do. They're gonna do and make
- 19:44Speaker 2: memes and do whatever they want to exhaustion, you know,
- 19:49Speaker 2: until they're done having fun with it. But I think
- 19:52Speaker 2: people were curious about new music and dope music, and
- 19:57Speaker 2: the expectations are lost his battle. But you've been a
- 20:01Speaker 2: monster hit maker, a monster music star, where just we
- 20:05Speaker 2: know you're gonna have some heat but the problem with
- 20:08Speaker 2: that is Drake is so stuck on the al that
- 20:15Speaker 2: every time he tries to take a shot, everybody just
- 20:19Speaker 2: brings back up all the stuff that he lost to
- 20:22Speaker 2: and why and Pedophile you got a daughter and you're
- 20:25Speaker 2: whacky from Toronto and stopped looking tough. He just brings
- 20:28Speaker 2: it back up by referencing you know, the Battle like that.
- 20:32Speaker 2: And then two he's trying to do the same formula
- 20:37Speaker 2: on some records that he's done recently. When people before
- 20:42Speaker 2: The Battle didn't really like Scary Dogs, they were saying
- 20:46Speaker 2: that album was whacked. They saying Drake is phoning Phoning
- 20:49Speaker 2: it in the Scary Hours was better. But that's the
- 20:54Speaker 2: Drake I like when he rapping that Scary Hours. Drake
- 20:57Speaker 2: is the one I like. But it was only it
- 21:01Speaker 2: felt like it was only done because of what people's
- 21:04Speaker 2: reaction to that album for All the Dogs, and I
- 21:09Speaker 2: kind of feel like now every time I turn to
- 21:12Speaker 2: a post, you know it's a media outlet reminding you
- 21:17Speaker 2: about how many streams Drake has done over his career,
- 21:20Speaker 2: when they're not even talking about the lack.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Of charting.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Now he's charted, but he's at one point he remained
- 21:30Speaker 2: on the chart, didn't matter what it was old or new,
- 21:33Speaker 2: and in recent times he hadn't. And I think he
- 21:37Speaker 2: continues to turn people off with some of the things
- 21:39Speaker 2: he's doing right with songs and little jabs here, but
- 21:44Speaker 2: also because he's not getting back to the essence of
- 21:50Speaker 2: why they liked you in the first place, rhyming like
- 21:53Speaker 2: Migos and twenty one Savage and teaming up with dudes
- 21:57Speaker 2: just to do that same it borrowed flow when you
- 22:02Speaker 2: should get back and you take care bag, just make
- 22:08Speaker 2: great music. That's it. It was the same thing I
- 22:11Speaker 2: was saying about Ja Cole. You know, he had the
- 22:13Speaker 2: feature with Daylight. I was like, Yo, do this, and
- 22:19Speaker 2: then he goes and does an apology song basically to Drake,
- 22:24Speaker 2: and now the Internet is killing him because he's bringing.
- 22:27Speaker 1: It up again.
- 22:28Speaker 2: We were just waiting for the fallout or what it was,
- 22:31Speaker 2: the fall off, the fallout too that you know, drop that, but.
- 22:35Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 22:35Speaker 2: So it's interesting that Cameron will say this because on
- 22:42Speaker 2: the heels of the battle, he kept giving Drake props
- 22:48Speaker 2: for things like trying to remind his fan base, Yo,
- 22:51Speaker 2: we like him, right, and then you go to the
- 22:53Speaker 2: comment section. They just flaming Cameron for that, and we
- 22:57Speaker 2: know why that, Like Drake is as a as a
- 23:00Speaker 2: fan and I ain't talking about a freaky I mean
- 23:03Speaker 2: as a fan, a fanatic of dipset and all that
- 23:08Speaker 2: and different people. You know, I'm sure he's looked out
- 23:11Speaker 2: in a lot of ways, and you know, he's probably
- 23:14Speaker 2: been really cool with him, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:16Speaker 2: So I get why they would remind people. But it's
- 23:19Speaker 2: the same reason why most people will being critical of
- 23:23Speaker 2: a Drake and a j Cole always remind people how
- 23:28Speaker 2: much of a fan they were.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Most people, you know what I'm saying. Not everybody. Some
- 23:32Speaker 1: people ain't like him anyway.
- 23:34Speaker 2: But I know I could only speak for myself, you know,
- 23:37Speaker 2: I look at it like I'm a fan and I
- 23:40Speaker 2: just as a fan.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I just want him to stop. Just stop.
- 23:47Speaker 2: It's okay. You can lose anybody. Everybody could lose, you know,
- 23:54Speaker 2: Kendrick could lose. Kendrick can start to feel like he
- 23:56Speaker 2: a world beat it and get cooked by somebody else.
- 23:59Speaker 1: It happens.
- 24:03Speaker 2: But the more you do things that feed in to
- 24:07Speaker 2: the lyrics that Kendrick put out, the more people gonna
- 24:11Speaker 2: go right in the comment section and say, you know,
- 24:14Speaker 2: quote Kendrick one of Kendrick's songs, and so it's a battle,
- 24:19Speaker 2: right at the same time, you kind of want Drake
- 24:23Speaker 2: to be able to get back to the music and
- 24:26Speaker 2: be successful, and Kendrick to do his thing without having to,
- 24:29Speaker 2: you know, take shots of dis Records and j Cole
- 24:32Speaker 2: to do his thing and just kind of get back
- 24:33Speaker 2: to three guys that made dope music that all kind
- 24:37Speaker 2: of compliment each other or offer a variety to hip
- 24:42Speaker 2: hop fans. And I just kind of feel like he's
- 24:45Speaker 2: doing it to himself and they're just people who want to.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Help him.
- 24:50Speaker 2: But it seems extremely disingenuous in some ways because it's
- 24:57Speaker 2: coming out of left field, not because it's not true.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I think he is one of the best slick talkers
- 25:03Speaker 2: in hip hop.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Where does he rank.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I don't think he ranks super high on my list,
- 25:09Speaker 2: But there's things that he said that I thought it
- 25:12Speaker 2: was dope that I was like, oh yeah, I like
- 25:14Speaker 2: that joint. So I don't know what do you think?
- 25:18Speaker 2: Leave your comments in a comment sex below. And lastly,
- 25:23Speaker 2: so Tyler the Creator and Earth Gang both recently announced
- 25:29Speaker 2: new albums dropping in October. If you're from the future,
- 25:34Speaker 2: you already heard them. Why are you even here? I
- 25:36Speaker 2: appreciate you hit the subscribe button. We'll get your ass
- 25:40Speaker 2: out of here. But what was unique about that? Because
- 25:45Speaker 2: I'm an Earth Gang fan and I'm a Tyler the
- 25:47Speaker 2: Creator fan, I'm looking forward to what Earth Gang does.
- 25:51Speaker 2: I like their evolution. Their first album was more underground
- 25:56Speaker 2: hip hop. Now they kind of do more than that.
- 25:59Speaker 2: But they really good at blending different styles and genres
- 26:03Speaker 2: without sounding like they copying anybody. And when they need
- 26:06Speaker 2: to get busy on some hip hops up, they get
- 26:08Speaker 2: busy for real. They're not passable like they get busy
- 26:12Speaker 2: for real. Tyler to the Creator, I love what he's
- 26:15Speaker 2: been doing because early on with what was the crew
- 26:21Speaker 2: again Wolfgang, because I keep getting, really say, the backwards
- 26:26Speaker 2: version of it, like golf Wang, the Wolf game, just
- 26:31Speaker 2: our future Wolf game.
- 26:32Speaker 1: There you go. When he was with them, man, he
- 26:35Speaker 1: had his early solos.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I didn't necessarily like everything he did because I felt
- 26:40Speaker 2: like a lot of what he was saying was pure
- 26:43Speaker 2: shock value.
- 26:45Speaker 1: But in recent years.
- 26:48Speaker 2: You get to learn more about him and he's a
- 26:50Speaker 2: little bit more introspective and he's just been on a
- 26:54Speaker 2: dope run, like literally a dope run of probably what
- 26:59Speaker 2: three to four or albums that I feel like, if
- 27:03Speaker 2: not in my top five of the year, they would
- 27:06Speaker 2: definitely in my best of the year.
- 27:09Speaker 1: And now he has another one coming out.
- 27:11Speaker 2: But what's unique about this story is that and I
- 27:14Speaker 2: don't know who said it first or whatever, it's just
- 27:17Speaker 2: who I saw it from first. Earth Gag announced, Yo,
- 27:22Speaker 2: we're just putting our album out on Tuesdays like it
- 27:26Speaker 2: used to be, because honestly, when you you know, when
- 27:30Speaker 2: you get that new album on the weekday, you get
- 27:33Speaker 2: to ride the working here for the first time, or
- 27:35Speaker 2: go to school with your headphones on, listen to the
- 27:38Speaker 2: for the first time in the gym. And the new
- 27:41Speaker 2: release day for those who don't know, is Fridays. Officially,
- 27:45Speaker 2: it used to be Tuesdays, but Fridays officially is the
- 27:48Speaker 2: release day for new music. They felt like sometimes you
- 27:53Speaker 2: could release a new album, especially if there's a number
- 27:55Speaker 2: of albums releasing on Friday, and it gets lost in
- 27:58Speaker 2: the weekend because of how some people listen to music.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Some people only will reveal our album traveling commuting to work,
- 28:07Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Some people will only listen
- 28:12Speaker 2: in the gym. I do a lot of that, Like
- 28:14Speaker 2: my first listen most of the time is in the
- 28:17Speaker 2: gym for a new album. So I get it from
- 28:22Speaker 2: a certain standpoint, but it hasn't for me personally. It
- 28:26Speaker 2: hasn't been a case where there's an album I check
- 28:30Speaker 2: out and then I'm not listening to it during the weekend.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Most of the time listen, if I really like it,
- 28:35Speaker 2: I'm listening to it throughout the weekend. So that was
- 28:40Speaker 2: said from Earth Game. But then when Tyler the creator
- 28:43Speaker 2: I believe, the next day announced his album with cover
- 28:46Speaker 2: and all of that and release date, he said his
- 28:50Speaker 2: album was going to release on Monday, and he said
- 28:55Speaker 2: the same exact thing for the same reasons that Earth
- 28:58Speaker 2: Game said it. So I just wanted to look at
- 29:04Speaker 2: that as well. I guess whether that's a good thing
- 29:09Speaker 2: or not. Right, is that going to make more people
- 29:14Speaker 2: invest in listening to your album.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I don't think so. And I only say that because sure,
- 29:25Speaker 1: going on social media and getting outlets to.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Know when your album's going to be released and it's
- 29:33Speaker 2: not going to be a Friday, there's some people who
- 29:35Speaker 2: are fans like myself who are going to check for it.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Purposely on those dates.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to make any difference as
- 29:44Speaker 2: far as my listening habits.
- 29:45Speaker 1: It'll be nice, you know.
- 29:46Speaker 2: It is nice to not have twenty seven albums releasing
- 29:51Speaker 2: on a Friday and nothing all week, because sometimes I'm
- 29:54Speaker 2: just loading up albums to listen to that I have
- 30:00Speaker 2: to listen to the next week anyway, because they all
- 30:02Speaker 2: came out on Friday, you know what I'm saying. So
- 30:05Speaker 2: maybe it's good in that sense, but I feel like
- 30:08Speaker 2: there's a lot of people who aren't as locked in,
- 30:11Speaker 2: don't watch podcasts or listen to podcasts like this, and
- 30:15Speaker 2: won't know until Friday when they go to look.
- 30:19Speaker 1: You know, it just become the thing. So do I
- 30:25Speaker 1: wanted to go back to Tuesdays? I don't care.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I think at first I did care because I was like, well,
- 30:31Speaker 2: why would you do that? Why Friday? Blah blah blah.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But then I just looked at it like, well, people adapt,
- 30:36Speaker 2: and then Friday's today. So I appreciate it coming out
- 30:41Speaker 2: early because I have no idea what's releasing on the
- 30:43Speaker 2: Friday of those weeks. I hope both albums are good,
- 30:48Speaker 2: but only time will tell, so we'll see what do
- 30:52Speaker 2: you think about these two albums releasing or just the
- 30:56Speaker 2: release date of Tuesday in general? Right, Remember that wasn't
- 31:00Speaker 2: that long ago. Do you prefer an album being released
- 31:05Speaker 2: in the week instead of at the end of the
- 31:07Speaker 2: week on Fridays. Leave your comments in a comments section below.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Please know that this channel is brought to you by
