- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we are down here in the locker room with Coach.
- 0:02Speaker 1: So overall impressions of the team being able to pick
- 0:06Speaker 1: up a win coming off the bye week?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Yeah, bye weeks sometimes are harder than maybe what it
- 0:10Speaker 2: seems to be. But I thought some choppy play in
- 0:14Speaker 2: the first half. And once we got into rhythm offensively,
- 0:18Speaker 2: it started to roll a little bit. But I credit
- 0:20Speaker 2: our defense. They were lights out all night long. Got
- 0:23Speaker 2: a big lift at the pump block. You know, a
- 0:25Speaker 2: couple of really good individual efforts there. Great job by
- 0:27Speaker 2: our coaching staff to get that schemed up. you know,
- 0:30Speaker 2: and really playing on their side of the field really
- 0:32Speaker 2: the entire football game, so, you know, it was a.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Good team win. Yeah, we just replayed in the headset
- 0:39Speaker 1: here the Shamar Porter punt block, so what goes into
- 0:42Speaker 1: something like that where I think fans will say, okay,
- 0:44Speaker 1: he caught the touchdown in the first quarter, and now
- 0:46Speaker 1: he's helping on a different phase of the game in
- 0:49Speaker 1: the second half?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I think that specifically that position, like,
- 0:53Speaker 2: if you want to go play football at the level
- 0:55Speaker 2: that these kids all want to go play at, you
- 0:56Speaker 2: have to be a contributor on special teams, and I
- 0:59Speaker 2: give him and a lot of other guys credit. They
- 1:01Speaker 2: provide a lot of buy-in value to that, and they
- 1:04Speaker 2: put a lot of time and effort. And Coach Cashmore
- 1:06Speaker 2: does a good job putting them in a position where
- 1:07Speaker 2: they can be successful. I just think you see that
- 1:09Speaker 2: in all four phases. You punted the ball well today.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I know we left the field goal out there, but,
- 1:15Speaker 2: you know, I mean, just a really good special teams
- 1:17Speaker 2: effort all the way through, I thought.
- 1:19Speaker 1: The run game on a night where it's cold and
- 1:21Speaker 1: we're starting to get into these kind of temperatures, you
- 1:23Speaker 1: carry the ball over 40 times. Did the ground game
- 1:26Speaker 1: give you exactly what you were looking for?
- 1:28Speaker 2: Well, I think when you're able to run it, it
- 1:30Speaker 2: sets the table for everything else, first and foremost. It
- 1:32Speaker 2: sets up good play action passes, but you're able to
- 1:35Speaker 2: control the game better when you're able to get chunk runs. Now,
- 1:39Speaker 2: we left a bunch of plays out there, and we're
- 1:41Speaker 2: getting penalties and getting some of these things called back
- 1:43Speaker 2: that they're going to come back and bite us in
- 1:46Speaker 2: the ass, and we play really good teams if we
- 1:47Speaker 2: continue to do this. So it was good, but it
- 1:50Speaker 2: wasn't as good as it could have been.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And lastly, the run game, but then the pass game
- 1:55Speaker 1: when Caleb Osborne is as efficient as he is, hitting
- 1:58Speaker 1: on 14 of 19 passes. What are you seeing week
- 2:02Speaker 1: over week with where his game's at?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think he did a good job
- 2:05Speaker 2: settling in the first half. I think there's some plays
- 2:08Speaker 2: out there in the third quarter where maybe he got
- 2:10Speaker 2: out of the pocket a little too fast, but we're
- 2:12Speaker 2: going to do a better job making sure that he
- 2:14Speaker 2: stays clean. And, you know, like I say this all
- 2:16Speaker 2: the time, quarterback sacks, or that's a quarterback statistic, not
- 2:20Speaker 2: a no-line statistic, but We can't fall into that as
- 2:23Speaker 2: a crutch. We've got to hang in there and we've
- 2:25Speaker 2: got to stay and keep the ball-me-man relationship and do
- 2:28Speaker 2: a good job protecting him. He's got to get it
- 2:30Speaker 2: out of his hand and to the guys on time.
- 2:32Speaker 2: The receiver's got to continue to run the routes to
- 2:34Speaker 2: the right depth. It's all to be rhythmic in the
- 2:36Speaker 2: passing game. It takes a lot of consistency. I think
- 2:39Speaker 2: sometimes when you go into a bye week, you may
- 2:41Speaker 2: lose that a little bit. Great that he had an
- 2:44Speaker 2: efficient game, but I think we can be better.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Coach, thanks so much. Appreciate it. Bob, back to you.
