- 0:24It is time to leave your worries outside join us inside the Treehouse Football Podcast,
- 0:33where outside you I'm talking about you leave your regular worries, but in
- 0:36here we bring in all of our football baggage, especially when it comes to
- 0:41the Cowboys, because as Cowboys fans for all our lives, myself and Trey,
- 0:47we have lots of Cowboys baggage, have now for pushing thirty years,
- 0:53and now we are left in the middle of another postseason where the Cowboys ducked
- 0:58out too soon or right on time based on its recent history. Because were
- 1:03you really surprised? I wasn't really surprised. I was angry, disappointed,
- 1:07hurt, all those things, but honestly not surprised. You know, we
- 1:12we we have no no right to be surprised. We and we we are
- 1:19as Cowboy fans, we are like the guy on Jerry Springer who I can't
- 1:26believe the exotic dancer he met two weeks ago is cheating on him with a
- 1:33clan member. Yeah that's you know, it's uh, that's our lot in
- 1:38life. You know, we're we're shocked every year. We're shocked at you
- 1:42know, our stripper, you know girlfriend is cheating on us, with with
- 1:48with the with the with the midget twins. It's really everybody at this point.
- 1:53It's like she's she's she's taken all comers and yeah, and we're just
- 1:57she's too sore for us. When when it gets to be are turned you
- 2:02can almost into it right here, because that sums it up pretty nicely.
- 2:06It's, you know, as Cowboys fans were sore. We're sore from the
- 2:10the the pounding and the lack of lube and the lack of emotional connection from
- 2:20our team. But yeah, so obviously we know the Cowboys were bounced in
- 2:23the wild card round at home against the Packers. And I will say this
- 2:30about the Dallas Cowboys and the media. The media, there's only one thing
- 2:36that the media loves more than it's than a winning Dallas Cowboys team, because
- 2:43when the Cowboys are winning, they bring ratings, right. But the one
- 2:47thing that the media loves more than a winning Dallas Cowboys team is a winning
- 2:53Dallas Cowboys team that throws up in the playoffs, because then they get the
- 2:57best of both worlds. They get the eyeballs and the money that come with
- 3:00a successful Cowboys team. And then when that same Cowboys team face plants in
- 3:06the playoffs, and now they get all the negativity to go along with it,
- 3:09because, let's face it, if the Cowboys were doing one of those
- 3:14runs that they had back in the early two thousands where it was like what
- 3:19three straight five and eleven seasons, yeah, there's there's really nothing there.
- 3:23They're just they're they're rebuilding, they're just losing. There's nothing exciting there.
- 3:27That's just something that most teams go through. But the Cowboys are their own
- 3:31animal where they'll be good enough to get everybody's attention, because I think we've
- 3:37all seen the meme. You know, it's the Dallas Cowboys fans uh cycle
- 3:40repeat thing? Yes, and and and and it's very accurate where it's,
- 3:46you know, you have the off season, preseason, and then you get
- 3:50the Cowboys beat up on good teams, and then they fall apart in the
- 3:53playoffs, and then you start with the off season back over again, and
- 3:55then it's just it's, you know, the never ending cycle. Do you
- 4:00this stat it probably it's just just stung my soul. Do you know the
- 4:06only two teams in the NFC that have not made it to the championship game
- 4:11this century? Well, I know one of them, yes, and the
- 4:16other the Commanders that really should that is the most glaring indictment on the last
- 4:28quarter century of Cowboys football or you know, I guess twenty four years whatever.
- 4:33Your company in the basement. Is the Commanders just the poster child for
- 4:41poorly run teams. Yes, there's no arguing that. And I would also
- 4:49like to throw this out in addition to the things that the media loves,
- 4:54is a successful Cowboys team and then a failing Cowboys team because you get all
- 5:00the drama that comes with it. And it's not just football drama, because
- 5:04nothing with the Cowboys ever stays on the field, because everything with the Cowboys
- 5:11inevitably bleeds over into personal lives, every day's stuff. And when you're a
- 5:18player for the Cowboys, they don't just talk about your play on the field.
- 5:21They talk about all of it. And that's true whether you're the quarterback,
- 5:25running back, defensive end, whatever it is. If you have a
- 5:27high enough profile, all this stuff is going to be under a spotlight,
- 5:32right sure, And so that exact thing has been happening now over the past
- 5:38week plus after the Cowboys lost to the Packers. You get all the drama
- 5:43coming out and not just normal drama, but good old fashioned family drama.
- 5:46And I don't mean football family drama where it's you know, Ceedee Lamb saying
- 5:50something about Dak, which maybe he did, maybe, but it's honest to
- 5:56god, Cowboys players family members taking to social media to either support their family
- 6:02member, blast a teammate, whatever it is. The media is eating it
- 6:08up because it's it's one thing that we love that we crave as humans,
- 6:13and that is drama in conflict. And they're getting it from Ceedee Lamb's mama,
- 6:17from Dak Prescott's brother, from Micah Parson's brother. And keeping in mind,
- 6:24this is not a new thing. Family drama. You know, family
- 6:27in sports has has bled over for forever, but it's it's more it's usually
- 6:31like one person. It might be like one player's wife, or it might
- 6:36be one coach's girlfriend or something along those lines. Here it's a while for
- 6:43a while, like uh, it was Patrick Mahomes's brother, Yes, it
- 6:48was Aaron Rodgers' brother. Hm. You know that there was always like kind
- 6:54of I always go back to like Bill Clinton's brother. There was always like
- 6:56that that brother cousin whatever that you know, someone that a problem but but
- 7:00the media in the case that Clinton might have been the brother cousin. Yeah,
- 7:03well, but there's always been you know what's is that the the Ball
- 7:14brothers and their dad. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, there
- 7:18there's always always somewhat in the media loves that, and especially in the in
- 7:21this age of social media, it's it's it's free content. Good god.
- 7:26But yeah, with the Cowboys because you have I mean, it's the perfect
- 7:30storm for for media if they go, oh wait, hang out, Cowboys,
- 7:34great season. Uh they've cowboy did in the playoffs? Oh wait,
- 7:39oh, now we've got there's a bunch of in house bickering. Yeah,
- 7:42where's the where's t o and the popcorn? Exactly? And that's exactly what
- 7:48we've had over the last week plus. I saw Tara and I were at
- 7:51lunch and it was on one of the daily you know, morning sports shows.
- 7:57Uh, I say lunch morning sports show because we're two hours ahead of
- 8:01Dallas time here on Saint John. So we go to lunch and on one
- 8:03of the TVs, I think it was ESPN or ESPN something, it's the
- 8:05Get Up Show with Mike Green something, Mike, thank you, and uh,
- 8:13I took a photo of it because I wanted to uh to visit this
- 8:16and it was Cowboys family drama that they were discussing talking about Ceedee Lamb's mom's
- 8:26comments after the game, Dak Prescott's brother Tad's comments after the game, and
- 8:31Terrence Parsons junior Micah's brother comments after the game, and they're eating it up
- 8:39as as I'm pointing out, because the Cowboys were good and then they flopped
- 8:43in the playoffs and all this stuff comes bubbling out and it's not one family
- 8:46member, it's three, and they're all attached to the three biggest stars that
- 8:52the Cowboys currently have. And I will give you the example. So you've
- 8:58got a d Lamb's mom Leda Ramirez after the game, she posted, Dak
- 9:05isn't it. She also went through in the comments as people are commenting and
- 9:09she's responding to people doubling down on it, saying they need to get rid
- 9:13of his ass, saying that Dak Prescott does not want a ring. She
- 9:20says other Cowboys players work hard for a ring and her son deserves better,
- 9:24her son being you know, Ceede Lamb. And according to this article on
- 9:30si dot com, perhaps the most concerning part of Ramirez's rent was when she
- 9:33replied to a Houston Texans fan wishing Lamb would join them. She writes,
- 9:37I wish he would. CJ is great talking about c J Stroud, So
- 9:43that's CD's mama. Then you got Dak's brother Tad, who posts on Twitter
- 9:50slash x whatever you want to call it, the wing eding Cowboys fans?
- 9:52Why continue to DM me? Trust me? If I could get Dak to
- 9:56leave Dallas, I would. I two want him out of Dallas. The
- 10:00city and organization have been great to him and our family, but done with
- 10:05drama and the so called fans. He but he loves this team and wants
- 10:09to bring it rings and then he followed that up with saying he's not He's
- 10:13never spoken badly about the Cowboys as an organization. He says he's never spoken
- 10:16badly about a player on the team or the city of Dallas. It's the
- 10:20so called fans that he has an issue with because they're pissed off at Dak
- 10:22for failing in the playoffs. And then it's a the trifecta. You know,
- 10:28it's like the Cowboys in the history. We like things that come in
- 10:33threes, you know, Dak and Michael and Emmett. We like our triplets.
- 10:37In this case the triplets. The third one is Micah Parson's brother.
- 10:43Let's see what did he have to say? He joins in on this,
- 10:46on this rigamarole, and he had so much so that his brother had to
- 10:54kind of separate like Mike had to separate some of the comments. Terrence Parsons
- 11:00said in one of a series of posts defending Micah Parsons on his Twitter account,
- 11:03I can't wait because you all are really clueless out here. The greatest
- 11:05crimes to this man is being done by his own organization. Y'all gonna miss
- 11:09him when he's gone, to which Micah had to respond any comments made by
- 11:16Terrence Parsons Junior or his and his alone. As you know, if I
- 11:18have something to say, I'm not afraid to say to love my team or
- 11:22brothers on my team in the city of Dallas, and I'm more committed than
- 11:24ever to bring a championship to the greatest fan base on Earth. Ooh right
- 11:28with family drama. Yeah, and you get that like see to me,
- 11:33especially when you when you get Micah Parsons, it really brings back the whole
- 11:39Russell Wilson and the Seattle defense and after you know, the Super Bowl loss
- 11:43and how that blew up, and you know, the defense thought Russell was
- 11:48a prima donna and everything else. Because now you want to talk about if
- 11:56you have to make me choose, I'm gonna choose Micah over Dak. Interesting
- 12:05Why do you say that, Like, is there something in your mind where
- 12:07you think the Cowboys should choose between one of them, that you think where
- 12:09they should do something with Dak. I know, I'm just saying, if
- 12:13you were to make me choose, I would take your you know, seemingly,
- 12:20you know, Hall of Famer, you know Edge Rusher over you know,
- 12:30the evidence I have of Micah parsons greatness is to me more complete than
- 12:33it is of Dak. That makes sense, No, that absolutely does make
- 12:37sense, especially when you think of in terms of talent. Quarterbacks are better
- 12:43now than they've ever been coming into the league, right because they throw the
- 12:48ball all over the field, not only in college, but most of them
- 12:52have started even younger. Because the spread offenses have been in high school football
- 12:56for over a decade now, and that then has moved its way up into
- 13:03the NFL. Rings that's why, So, that's why the time to judge
- 13:07a quarterback, the window after he's drafted is so much smaller now than it
- 13:13used to be. Now you get what a handful of games, maybe a
- 13:18season, and an organization is going to decide whether or not they think you're
- 13:22the guy, right, yeah, and if you don't do it in that
- 13:26very small amount of time, you're gone, Whereas in the older days,
- 13:31you're committing more money. And maybe part of that is because of the way
- 13:35those Iroki contracts are structured, but because because of all those things combined,
- 13:41you know, years ago, you'd give a quarterback five six years to actually
- 13:45develop into a quarterback, whereas the quarterbacks nowadays are really close to being NFL
- 13:50developed by the time they get there. So it's it's a shorter window.
- 13:56And because of that, I think that lends more credibility to what you're saying
- 14:01trade, which is it's more difficult to find a once in a once in
- 14:05a lifetime a generational talent like a Micah Parsons versus a quarterback like Dak Prescott
- 14:11who is undoubtedly good but not great. Right, Sorry, you can go
- 14:16find another good quarterback, right, And that's not you know the other thing
- 14:22you really have to factor into with Dak right now, is you know they're
- 14:26wanting to restructure, you know, his deal, and you're talking about making
- 14:31him I've heard some reports of the highest paid quarterback in the league. I
- 14:35mean, it won't last long, but you know, you have one of
- 14:39the biggest things I think you really have to look at with Jerry Jones and
- 14:41the Cowboys in the history is he won three Super Bowls before the salary cap
- 14:46was really implemented. The salary cap that he basically came up with and and
- 14:52presented and pushed through has you know, he could money whip a team better
- 14:56than anybody, but salary caps has not been his friend. It's only been
- 15:01in the last I'll say, I'll give him ten year, eight to ten
- 15:05years that and I think it's been since Steven kind of took over some of
- 15:07those duties that they've managed the salary cap better. Which is something else that
- 15:13you're saying they're having to navigate going into the off season, because here we
- 15:16are, we're not even past the Super Bowl yet Cowboys have lost, and
- 15:20we're already having off season conversations like Dak's contract because he's technically signed through twenty
- 15:26twenty six. He's got the second highest draft cap hit going into this year.
- 15:33But they can restructure him without asking his permission. They have some sort
- 15:39of conversion thing in the contract. And I don't like getting too far into
- 15:41contract stuff because then it makes it sound like lawyers. And but there's something
- 15:48they can do to convert some of that money to lessen his cap hit,
- 15:50spread it out over a couple of years, changing it into bonus money versus
- 15:54salary, which is not a new thing. That something happens very commonly.
- 15:58They restructure a contract, they move to ery and de signing bonus and there
- 16:00you have it. But they could do that for Dak or to Dak without
- 16:03getting his permission for it. He's still going to make a ton of money,
- 16:07don't get me wrong. But then there's the other side of it,
- 16:10Like you're saying, Trey, is now the time for DAC to say,
- 16:14hey, let's go ahead and just make a whole new deal, Which if
- 16:18I'm the Cowboys, I say no. But I don't know what they would
- 16:22do because, like we were saying, you can find a quarterback more easily
- 16:26than you can another Micah Parsons, especially for cheaper. All you got to
- 16:30do is look at rock Perty in San Francisco and look how much he's making
- 16:33less than arch Manning is at Texas, and arch Manning is not even the
- 16:37starter. Yeah, thanks of those nil things. And so the question then
- 16:42becomes, if you're Dak, do you even dare to ask for a true
- 16:47extension because you're just sucked in your last game of the playoffs. But well,
- 16:52I guess we'll see what he and his agents do. Well. I
- 16:56think it also it highlights the other problem with the NFL, and for the
- 17:00Cowboys especially, which is if you you know, and there is no doubt
- 17:06you could trade Dak and get a hell of a package for him, there
- 17:11are plenty of other teams that would love to have him. But you are
- 17:14then saying, all right, we're starting it at zero again and have to
- 17:18go find a quarterback. So and then it also comes into the Jerry h
- 17:23thing of you know, you're talking about that to at least a couple of
- 17:26year process, and Jerry didn't. I don't think Jerry is looking for,
- 17:30you know, a five year rebuild. No, he's not. I think
- 17:34I think he knows very much that each season could be his last. And
- 17:38that's the way he's approaching things. And because of that, that's where if
- 17:42I'm on Dak's side of things, if I'm Dak's representation, which I think
- 17:47is CIA or whoever it is, that's where you got to say, hey,
- 17:49we've got a little bit of leverage here because we're negotiating against a man
- 17:52who's negotiating against death. And there's no time like the present, because we
- 17:57know you, mister Ji Zones, don't want to miss out on this window
- 18:02because if you get go with somebody else, you're probably gonna die before they
- 18:06ever do anything worth mentioning. So you got your guy now, so let's
- 18:08pay him like it. And that's that's a pretty good uh uh you know
- 18:15erro to have in your quiver if you're negotiating on the bark of Dak Prescott
- 18:18is well, what do you want to do you want to die or do
- 18:19you want to you want at least a decent shot at a ring? Yeah,
- 18:22I mean, if I'm if I'm Dak's agent, I'm going look,
- 18:26look, Trent Dilfer won a super Bowl and he's this My client is far
- 18:30better than Trent Dilfer. Stick with you. It's an easy sell. If
- 18:33you're his agent to go. You've got you've got a known quantity, and
- 18:37he's very good like he he can he can get it for you. Yeah,
- 18:41so it really is a simple thing. I think at this point Dak
- 18:45could honestly just fire his agents and we could hire Hi, hire the treehouse
- 18:48here, and then we could do a very simple visual presentation of two photos
- 18:56to show to the Jones family on resigning Dak. One is a far deck
- 19:00looking very handsome right after scoring a touchdown, pointing the finger up to his
- 19:03mom in heaven and you're going, let's go. And the next photo is
- 19:08a grave with a headstone that says here lies Jerry Jones. And then you
- 19:15just tell them Dak or death. Yeah that's and then you thank them for
- 19:26their time and they walk out and say I await your response. Maybe that's
- 19:32you know what, Maybe that should be the motto for the twenty twenty four
- 19:36season for the Cowboys. This last year it was the carpet Omnia that sees
- 19:40everything, in which they of course sees nothing other than the NFC East Crown,
- 19:45which is it doesn't matter if you don't do anything with it in the
- 19:48playoffs, So you go from the twenty twenty three motto of you know,
- 19:52seize everything carpe Onium Omnia to twenty twenty four Dack or Death question mark.
- 20:00Yeah, I'm just thinking of that old Eddie Izzard bit of cake or death
- 20:08and just you know, doc or death, death very much. That's very
- 20:12much where I am. Yes, And that's that's an interesting thing is you
- 20:18can do that. You can do the whole thing. You can go to
- 20:19you know, you can go to the Jerry Jones be like dock or Death
- 20:22and then someone says death and it's like, ah, you said death.
- 20:25It's like no, no, no, I meant doc. I met deck.
- 20:26All right, you can have We're gonna run out of deck. At
- 20:30this point, I think I think I'm on board with this. Dock or
- 20:38Death. Dock or Death, start printing the T shirts. Man, I
- 20:45can't wait for next season. Yeah, you're listening to the tree House.

- 21:44information coming soon from the Treehouse. So now that we've covered the Cowboys family
- 21:48drama, we now have the twenty twenty four slogan ready to roll for T
- 21:53shirts and stickers Dock or Death, which really just puts a big will smile
- 22:00on my face as I get ready for the next season. That gives us
- 22:03an opportunity to look back at the divisional round that the Cowboys obviously did not
- 22:07participate in, and ahead to the conference championships. So we've got last weekend.
- 22:15The Ravens took care of the Texans thirty four to ten, no surprise
- 22:18there. The forty nine Ers survived the Packers twenty four to twenty one,
- 22:22the Lions sunk the Buccaneers thirty one twenty three, and in the big matchup
- 22:27of the weekend, the Chiefs on the road for the first time in the
- 22:32playoffs. They beat the Bills twenty seven to twenty four in what basically came
- 22:38out to be kind of an anti climactic game, but it did include once
- 22:44again a Buffalo kicker missing a crucial fuel goal, so I felt bad for
- 22:47that dude, but it was not entirely his fault, although Jim Nance did
- 22:52give him one hell of a jinx right beforehand. Yeah oh man, but
- 23:00that was the game I watched the most closely. I watched all of that
- 23:03one, the Chiefs and the Bills for the reasons that it was sort of
- 23:06the marquee matchup of the weekend because it's, you know, it's it's Alan
- 23:10versus Mahomes, It's Kelsey and Kelsey and Swift. It's got, you know,
- 23:17all the excitement that you want from an NFL playoff game. And Mahomes
- 23:22again beats the Bills. Alan can't quite pull it out, and again not
- 23:26because of the kicker, although he obviously missed his opportunity, but you also
- 23:32had some key drops in that game by Bill's wide receivers. I feel bad
- 23:37for Buffalo fans. They kept showing that one dude in the stands crying his
- 23:41eyes out, and I feel it's like, you know, he dug himself
- 23:45out of his house to go to the game, to then dig out his
- 23:48own seat in the stands to only be let down by his team. I
- 23:53get it, yeah, and you know you. I always say one of
- 24:00the most unappreciated accomplishments in sports history is the Bills making it the four Super
- 24:04Bowls in a row. I agree, but that's still got to be just
- 24:10a bitter pill that you've made it to four and don't have a don't have
- 24:17a super Bowl. You know, it's almost like a like a really twisted
- 24:19Morpheus in the matrix, Like instead of him offering a blue pill and a
- 24:25red pill, it's his hand holding out a blue pill and a red pill,
- 24:27and then his other hand is a Buffalo Bills pill, in which case
- 24:32you get really really really really close, but you never get there. Yeah.
- 24:37Yeah, you get to win a lot of winning. But I don't
- 24:41know, that's uh. I thought that the the Bills game the Bill's Chiefs
- 24:48game was interesting because both teams had huge expectations and really, if you look
- 24:53at it, very kind of for their standards mediocre years. Yeah, I
- 25:00know, it's weird to think. It's weird to say that because eleven and
- 25:03six for those two teams kind of because they both had points in their season
- 25:07where they struggled, but like most good teams, they figured out just in
- 25:11time to make a run in the playoffs, which, of course, as
- 25:15we covered some over previous weeks, the Cowboys have yet to figure out how
- 25:18to do that. But as we look ahead for the AFC side, now
- 25:29you get a matchup a lot of people that were predicting at the beginning of
- 25:32the year. It's the Ravens, it's the Chiefs. Who are you taking
- 25:34trade? You know I have. I've gone back and forth on this and
- 25:41I think Lamar Jackson is an incredible talent. But at the end of the
- 25:45day, it's a cliche. But you know, you can't beat the man
- 25:52until you beat the man, and so right now I'm going to go with
- 25:56the Chiefs because they've done it. And that's the one thing, you know,
- 26:00It's the one knock against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens is they haven't so
- 26:07but Baltimore is playing. Yeah, it is probably the best team in the
- 26:12league, so they should win it. Ooh, this is why we need
- 26:18a should jar Because my wife and I learned years ago than one of the
- 26:22most dangerous words in the English languages, the word should just because something should
- 26:26happen doesn't mean that it will. There are numerous examples of that in our
- 26:30lives that we've had to experience. So whenever we hear the word should,
- 26:33we get real antsy about it. Yeah, and I'm with you because based
- 26:38on the eyeball test, the Ravens should be favored in this game, and
- 26:42they are, although I don't think it's by very much. I'm not sure
- 26:47what the line is at the point. I don't know what Vegas thinks about
- 26:49it, but I'm certain it's razor thin. But I'm with you. I
- 26:55think until some team can prove otherwise, you got to ride with the Chiefs.
- 27:02I've adopted the Chiefs as my team for the remainder of this postseason one
- 27:07because they're originally from Dallas. They're they're the original professional Dallas football team.
- 27:15Before the Cowboys existed, there were the Dallas Texans. Those Dallas Texans eventually
- 27:18were moved by the Hunt family to Kansas City, where they now reside.
- 27:23Not the Hunt family, most of them still live in Dallas, but the
- 27:27team is in Kansas City. So that's one reason why. And also because
- 27:34man, I'm I'm I'm I'm getting I'm getting sucked into the Chiefs fandom.
- 27:41And I will also admit that my wife needs to admit that she's been sucked
- 27:45into the Swift Kelsey stuff, even though it wasn't something that she sought out.
- 27:52It was one of those social media algorithms that showed her something and she
- 27:55clicked on it. And then, just like the Social Dilemma documentary on that
- 28:00Flicks, she clicked on that one thing and then it kept feeding her stuff,
- 28:03and like pac Man, she keep eating the little little bites of it.
- 28:07And now I'm looking up how to change the Kansas City logo from Casey
- 28:11Chiefs to Casey Swifties. And I'm I'm enthralled. I like seeing Taylor do
- 28:15the swag dance thing in the stands, and I loved even more seeing Jason
- 28:18Kelcey up in the stands shirtless, drinking beer and giving giving Taylor Swift the
- 28:23full Kelsey family experience that she had not had until this past Sunday. And
- 28:29that's what had left me wondering and say, Okay, now you're getting the
- 28:32full Kelsey family experience. Are you still in? And she seems like it.
- 28:36Yeah, that's uh. Jason Kelsey cracked me up. Because I don't
- 28:40know. If you saw the video of him, you know, out in
- 28:41the parking lot, you know, chugging beers with the Bills fans. Yeah,
- 28:45what did he do? Did he take a shot out of a cannon
- 28:48ball or is that a bowling ball or yeah, I'm not sure if that
- 28:52was liquor in there, or it could have been straight up gunpowder out of
- 28:56a cannon ball, and I think he still would have downed it. Yeah,
- 29:00just belched up a you know, giant flame and gone about his day.
- 29:04I would like to. I would like at this point, I think
- 29:07if Jason Kelsey is wondering what he wants to do for the next phase of
- 29:11his life called retirement, if he wants to have, you know, a
- 29:14part time job just to kind of stay busy on occasion, he just he
- 29:18could hire out his services as a one man cheering section to whoever wants him.
- 29:22I don't care if it is, you know, the speech you have
- 29:26to give at the PTA. I don't care if it's a motivational speech that
- 29:32you need to give your kid's t ball team, or if I don't know,
- 29:37if it's trying to muster up the courage to ask a girl out on
- 29:40a date. If I could have one person as my cheering section, it
- 29:44would, honest to God, be Jason Kelsey. I want that man in
- 29:47my corner. Okay, I don't disagree with you at all. I think
- 29:49that is a fantastic idea. But I think there's one better, which is
- 29:56so you remember how like Fox started it and they did it with only Sarah
- 30:00Gusa, they do like the man on the field, and you know he
- 30:02was the lineman and he was going to give you the you know, the
- 30:03in game perspective of what man you mic up. You know, Kelsey put
- 30:10him shirtless in the stands drinking beer with the fans. I want that sideline
- 30:14report. I want that fourth quarter commentary. You know you're right because first
- 30:19quarter man I want. I want I want the the the right after the
- 30:25third or fourth quarter beer sales cutoff report from the stands with kell Yeah.
- 30:30No, I think that's I think he could do both. I think uh
- 30:33he could do he could also he could motivate your t ball team or motivate
- 30:37you before you know, your softball game or something. And then also I
- 30:41want that in game report from the fans in the stands with Jason Kelsey.
- 30:45Yeah, I mean, I just you know, I want to hear Jim
- 30:48Nance do a play by play of of of Kelsey, you know, doing
- 30:52a beer bong, you know, from with a ten foot you know hat
- 30:57just just something stupid, you know what that's That's not the play by play
- 31:03we need, but it's the play by play we deserve. Meanwhile, you've
- 31:10got the on the other side of the conference title game. You've got the
- 31:17Detroit Lions up against the non surprising to be there San Francisco forty nine ers.
- 31:22Who are you taking there? Niners? Yeah, there's no way you
- 31:27can believe in Detroit. I mean that joke exists on multiple levels. I
- 31:37don't I don't believe in Detroit, but I do believe in Dan Campbell.
- 31:41I do believe in that man's ability to motivate people. And it's not gonna
- 31:48happen, at least not right now. But I can't help but wonder when
- 31:53I see what he's been able to do in Detroit, and knowing that he
- 31:56started his career as a Dallas Cowboy. I'm Jason Witten. I can't help
- 32:01but think, what would a Dan Campbell mentality due to a Cowboys team that
- 32:12especially coming off of a year like this one where one of our biggest complaints
- 32:16with this Cowboys team was that they seem to have, you know, no
- 32:19fire in their bellies, no balls when they needed it. And that's everything
- 32:24Dan Campbell brings to the table. Oh yeah, I mean you're talking about
- 32:28going from you know, no expression on the sideline to you know, he
- 32:34you don't know if he's gonna kill somebody or cry. Yeah, as a
- 32:38player, that's an interesting relationship to have with your coach as you look over
- 32:43to the sideline and you're not sure if he loves you or hates you,
- 32:46Like you don't know if he wants to hug you or kill you, but
- 32:50you might be in danger either way. He is a hunter. He is
- 32:53a hunter, like like Micah Parsons has his lion dance. He likes to
- 32:58say lionny type things. Meanwhile, if he was to look over at the
- 33:01sidelines, Dan Campbell's going to be wearing a lion and let's see how you
- 33:07respond. Then it's like like Dan Campbell, while being a hunter, he
- 33:10doesn't necessarily have to have a trophy wall where he puts all of his trophies
- 33:15up. He just probably just throws him on. That's just like his T
- 33:16shirt game, a T shirt of caps. It might be more of like
- 33:25a combination, like it's like the it's the backward because the backward Lions head.
- 33:31That would be really impressive. All right, I'm proposing a trade right
- 33:40now, McCarthy for Campbell, and it's not going to be an even trade
- 33:45because they're not. We're going to have to give a lot more to Detroit.
- 33:50Maybe maybe if we gave maybe, if we proposed to trade with Detroit,
- 33:55we get Dan Campbell, they get Mike McCarthy and Roanoke we got a
- 34:04nice, lovely suburb. Well you know, I mean, I'm trying to
- 34:13think, McCart we're not gonna miss Roanoke that much. We still got south
- 34:17Lake and Trophy Club. We have, we have North Terrence County, nice
- 34:21suburbs to spare. We can we can we can ship one off to Detroit
- 34:24along with Mike McCarthy. If we can get Dan Campbell wearing animal carcasses on
- 34:29the sidelines. Yeah, I'm trying to think what else, what could sweeten
- 34:36the deal. I mean, we can try to we could try to sneak
- 34:40Sunny Vale in there. Yeah, I don't. I don't think that's what
- 34:45Detroit needs. I was thinking more along, you know, like we're it's
- 34:50a little tech hub that you know, you could throw it in and then
- 34:52they could fix RoboCop. So what we could do is sneak round rock in
- 34:58there and see if Austin noises. Exactly awesome to be happy to get right
- 35:02of around. Let's throw a part of the deal, all right. See,
- 35:07the entire off season has been has been done. We're all done.
- 35:09There's no there's nothing anyone else on any other sports choked and say we've got
- 35:13it all handled. We just need the Jones family to pull the trigger.
- 35:15Yeah, and and set up you know, Dan Campbell and let him go
- 35:19on a hunting trip, you know, Safari, and see what headwear he
- 35:22brings back. I'm gonna laugh when it's Tony Pollard. I'm kidding, I'm
- 35:44kidding. We'll have more to more football to discuss next week right here Inside
- 35:49the Tree has Football podcast. And the only the only way that Dan Campbell
- 35:53would truly be able to to to get Tony Pollard is because he'd probably fall
- 35:58down. We'll see you next week.
