- 0:54Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 0:58United We Scan podcast. Welcome back, everybody.
- 1:03This is episode 67. Yep, it's another train wreck of
- 1:08wrecks. Oops, another train wrecks.
- 1:11Yeah, something like that. Anyways.
- 1:13And me, Bill and James this evening, you what people have,
- 1:17you know, it's Easter Sunday and we're here for those of us that
- 1:21had nothing else going on. How was your week, James?
- 1:24It was good working in the mail like usual package volumes, a
- 1:29little higher than my previous evaluation, you know, And of
- 1:35course still working my route the normal way.
- 1:38And then I get to Saturday and I message my supervisor and ask
- 1:43him how my route did and he told me it went down another hour.
- 1:48And this time, unlike the last mini mail survey, I didn't go
- 1:51down 15 minutes. I went down another 58 minutes
- 1:55on my evaluation and I haven't changed the way I do stuff.
- 1:59I haven't changed the way I do inputs or any of that stuff.
- 2:02But I believe that it it has a lot more to do with stuff that's
- 2:07going on with the mailings themselves and what we are and
- 2:11are not allowed to input anymore.
- 2:14So I'm going to have to go through with a fine tooth comb,
- 2:17which I'm sure everybody else is going to do.
- 2:19At the same time, I'm going to remind everybody that we do have
- 2:23a previous episodes on the activity scans, although some of
- 2:29them are a little bit different with the updates that our union
- 2:32leaders have so nicely changed for us without telling us or
- 2:37showing us what they were changed for.
- 2:40And there's also our episode breaking down the 4241 A that
- 2:45has changed slightly as well. But there are updates on the
- 2:49union website as well as rural info.
- 2:51They have pulled that stuff and put it on there as well.
- 2:54Those are my 2 Shameless plugs for episodes that we have on the
- 2:57podcast concerning Rex and the Mint, the 4240 ones that we just
- 3:04received and how maybe you can help your route.
- 3:07But we'll get more into that through this episode too, right?
- 3:11How about you, Bill? How was your week?
- 3:13Well, let's see. Monday was typical, very heavy
- 3:18Tuesday. We we were braced with the
- 3:20postmaster and our supervisor giving us a service talk about
- 3:24safety, about not starting before 8:30 because we have an
- 3:29830 start time. You're not allowed to work off
- 3:31the clock and you're not allowed to be more than 5 minutes late
- 3:35to work and with the standard threats of you know, discipline.
- 3:39So Thursday morning, I I had Thursday off but one of the PTFS
- 3:45came in a little early. A regular came in behind him and
- 3:49said to the supervisor what is this individual doing on the
- 3:52floor And the supervisor had to yell at the at the PTF.
- 3:57Friday was a decent day. You know, again, you know, my
- 4:01parcels have, you know stayed in the 150 to 170 range course of
- 4:06the many mail surveys, nobody asked me to work Saturday.
- 4:10So you know, I I planned accordingly.
- 4:13Saturday morning I went into the office to get my 4241A or yeah
- 4:20a. And supervisor said what are you
- 4:23doing? I said I'm here to get my 4241,
- 4:26what do you think? In the meantime, I handed the
- 4:29Stewart election form to a carrier who posted that?
- 4:33And she will put it up and get elected in timely fashion and
- 4:37trained one week after the election if everything times
- 4:40out. Correct.
- 4:41So I got I, I one of my supervisors said, what am I
- 4:44doing? I said, well, yeah, I heard
- 4:45somebody called out and I I thought I'd stop by.
- 4:47She goes, oh, it's just one. I said, OK, so I collected
- 4:50MY4241A and left. I'm 10 minutes down the road and
- 4:54the supervisor's gone. Another carrier called out.
- 4:56You want to come back to work? I said, I'm sorry, you've
- 4:59reached a recording, Please leave a message.
- 5:01And then I hung up on her. Of course I enjoyed that day
- 5:05immensely because I I'm seeing where these people are losing
- 5:09time on their routes and they don't have Subs and they're
- 5:12splitting routes. And do you really think
- 5:14regulars, let alone the the Subs, are doing it correctly and
- 5:18switching you over to routes so that your route gets proper
- 5:21credit? I don't think so But that that's
- 5:24just my opinion and you know some people are are
- 5:28knowledgeable enough to do it and and you know they they're
- 5:31trustworthy to give credit to the route but most of them don't
- 5:34they they're just looking to get the the hours done and and out
- 5:37of the office. So anyway that that was just
- 5:41just a good good feeling to sit there and say no I was just
- 5:46there offered my services inadvertently and luckily got
- 5:50out of there before they found out they had a second call out
- 5:53and then today was Easter Sunday.
- 5:55Easter Sunday is the day that our Subs were going to a 10 AM
- 6:00start time, which we'll get into for delivering Amazon Sunday.
- 6:04And what a fiasco that was. Other than that, you know, spent
- 6:09the spent the day with the family, good times, lots of good
- 6:12food and desserts, a little Easter egg hunt for the kids and
- 6:16all that. So it was very enjoyable and you
- 6:19know, All in all for me, I thought it was a wonderful week.
- 6:22Kristen, how was your week? Oh, Monday was a shit show.
- 6:28It was heavy. Monday we had my RCA got thrown
- 6:33onto our POV route blind on a Monday.
- 6:37They did actually have an extra LLV brought up for him to use.
- 6:41And yeah, and then the other RCA that was working was on R4 and
- 6:48again super heavy. So I had already said hey, I'll
- 6:51check on him when I get back. And so let me say when I got
- 6:56back at 5:30, I then went out to Route 4 and I took a took a
- 7:02little bit off of him to help get him back.
- 7:05Got back to the office at 7:00, then immediately turned around
- 7:08and drove out to help my sub, which was probably about 25
- 7:15miles out on the POV route. And at that point, she had
- 7:20already told him to stop delivering the mail and just get
- 7:23the parcels. He had missed some parcels.
- 7:26So I took the ones that he had missed because they were
- 7:28literally from one end of the route to the other and back down
- 7:31again. So I said just give me the ones
- 7:32that you missed. Continue on your way down for
- 7:34these last ones. I got back to the office at 8:20
- 7:37on Monday. Oh, Yep.
- 7:40I work just shy of 13 hours Monday.
- 7:42We're about to just over 12 1/2 hours Monday.
- 7:45So yeah, Tuesday and Wednesday they trained my sub on R4.
- 7:51He was supposed to do it all completely on his own.
- 7:54Thursday they had the ox route carrier assist him I should say.
- 8:00And then of course, me being the low man on the fuck me pole.
- 8:06Excuse me totem pole. I was forced in on my K day
- 8:09yesterday so they could use my sub on route 4 again.
- 8:13That carrier's been on vacation all week.
- 8:14Yeah, yeah, that's my week in a handbasket.
- 8:18I did get my 4241 A yesterday. I'm going to ask for my M when I
- 8:23get back tomorrow and supervisor's end 2O4B was nice
- 8:26enough to print it off for me and I did go up an hour, so my
- 8:30route will is now going to be a 46K starting next Saturday, so
- 8:36I'm not going to complain about that.
- 8:37I was just glad it didn't go down.
- 8:39I was hope it stay the same or at least let's not go down.
- 8:43So I'll take the hour increase. Yeah, yeah, rub it in, miss.
- 8:46I get off the route really early every day.
- 8:49You know, Phil and I over here working hard and you're sitting
- 8:53there going, I'm getting off at noon, 1231, o'clock.
- 8:57I have never gotten done at 121230 on that route.
- 9:00The earliest I've ever gotten done is 1.
- 9:03Normally early for me is 2/2/30, sometimes 3.
- 9:08Yeah, rub it in, rub it in, rub it in.
- 9:12So do you want to give a few updates on things right now that
- 9:16people need to be focused on? I'm hearing that some states are
- 9:19sending out delegate ballots soon.
- 9:22If you're having your county meetings are coming up as well,
- 9:25or your local meetings, your annual local meetings in some
- 9:28areas are happening soon. So make sure you get involved in
- 9:32those. Make sure you check your ballot,
- 9:34your delegate ballots. Research the people that are on
- 9:37it. Pick the ones you think will
- 9:38actually vote in support of the craft and go.
- 9:42Make sure you mail them in. Because last year, on average
- 9:46across the country, 10% of people returned their ballots.
- 9:49Only 10% of voting membership return their ballots.
- 9:53Those are rookie numbers. We need to move them up.
- 9:56Shameless play. Definitely need.
- 9:58My, my. If you are in my local county
- 10:01unit, Northeastern in Michigan, our annual meeting is April
- 10:0717th. That's all I'm going to say.
- 10:09OK, should I got your postcard in the mail last week.
- 10:12So April 17th on your calendar is our local annual meeting.
- 10:16Oakland County, Michigan is April 10th.
- 10:18So shameless plug there. And then after that your your
- 10:25delegate ballots for National Convention are coming out and
- 10:30when you after you send those in, those delegate ballots get
- 10:33counted just before your state convention and then the delegate
- 10:37list comes out at state convention.
- 10:39You have to make sure that you're taking care of this in a
- 10:42timely fashion. Those are the big things that
- 10:44we're focusing on, especially this year, if you guys want to
- 10:47make a change in the union, if you want to make a difference in
- 10:50this union, you have to exercise every right you are afforded in
- 10:54this union otherwise. But let me put that in
- 10:58perspective. 10% of the eligible people send their ballots in.
- 11:05Out of 130,000 carriers, only 10% send it in.
- 11:09Not all the 130 are eligible, but 10% of the eligible send it
- 11:13in. Who then elect?
- 11:151% of the people who go to the National Convention as delegates
- 11:22and vote for you. 1% of the people you vote for go to the
- 11:27National Convention and control the destiny of this craft.
- 11:31Let's get those numbers up, folks.
- 11:33Absolutely. Can you imagine the difference
- 11:35it would make if 203040 even 50% of of the dues paying members
- 11:43actually voted for the delegates that they would like to see
- 11:47there? Could you imagine, when it comes
- 11:49to contract ratifications, if instead of the 20% of the craft
- 11:54that votes for contract ratification, could you imagine
- 11:57the difference it may make if thirty 4050% voted?
- 12:03Yeah. 100% voted. Imagine if 100% voted.
- 12:09Imagine if every voting member of this craft gave their opinion
- 12:13on a vote. If everybody who is a deuce
- 12:17paying member eligible to vote turned around and voted on this.
- 12:22You can. You can be on Facebook and you
- 12:24could complain. You can argue, you can make, you
- 12:27can make statements about this craft on Facebook.
- 12:31But putting your vote on a piece of paper and sending it in to
- 12:35make a difference for this craft is the ultimate thing you can do
- 12:39for this craft. It's the ultimate statement as a
- 12:43craft number. And and I always advocate for
- 12:46people to get involved at the local level, in their own office
- 12:49and everything. Why in the world wouldn't you
- 12:52take several minutes to send in your vote that affects your
- 12:56paycheck? I don't want to say you're
- 12:59asinine, and I don't want to say you're stupid, but you're stupid
- 13:03and asinine if you don't try to control your own desk.
- 13:07And that's the power. That's the power of the ballot.
- 13:10And this right here says it all in the listener chat.
- 13:13Stand up at National and say that shit you say on Facebook in
- 13:16front of 1200 people? Absolutely.
- 13:19We do. We do what what?
- 13:22When I'm a delegate and I can get up there and talk.
- 13:25Yes, I do. Or I have somebody say it for
- 13:29me, James. I've done that for you.
- 13:34A couple. Times.
- 13:35There's a reason why, as a non delegate, I sat next to you and
- 13:38you were sitting next to the microphone, yes.
- 13:41I I ain't afraid to stand up there and say say my piece or
- 13:44say somebody else's piece that isn't a delegate, because that's
- 13:47that's my duty as as a member of this craft is not only to speak
- 13:52for myself, but to speak for those who are unable to speak.
- 13:56Your duty and your right, Yes. Now that we have our 4241
- 14:02AS&M's, everybody's going to take the next week to figure out
- 14:08what happened to the routes. And even if you went up, even if
- 14:13you're back to where you were before, still go through it with
- 14:16a fine tooth comb because you could find more minutes that
- 14:21they missed. You can find more time that they
- 14:24missed. You could raise your route even
- 14:26higher, get more, pay all. Right.
- 14:28And then with that being said, I'm going to read the Memorandum
- 14:31of Understanding. It has to do with the rural
- 14:34route evaluation process. This is the most recent one that
- 14:38was dated 327 of 2024. The US Postal Service in the
- 14:42National Rural Letter Carriers Association have agreed to an
- 14:45alternate dispute resolution process in an effort to resolve
- 14:49disputes outside the formal grievance procedure following
- 14:53the implementation of the rural route evaluations effective
- 14:56April 6th, 2024, the rural route Evaluation dispute process will
- 15:02be used to address disputes where the assigned rural carrier
- 15:05has identified potential errors in the time credits provided on
- 15:08the PS Form 4241 A. This process will be used to
- 15:13resolve disputes related to the subjects below without the
- 15:17filing of grievances. The parties agree that carriers
- 15:20may dispute the following an entry of 0 or a questionable
- 15:24number in any data field on the PS Form 4241 A that would
- 15:30otherwise expect to have a time credit.
- 15:32An obvious error in any of the following data fields on the PS
- 15:36Form 4241. A Route length Regular
- 15:41Centralized or total Boxes, Daily Dismounts, Daily dismount,
- 15:47distance Collection Compartments, TCP Daily
- 15:53Activities, Miscellaneous Excuse me, Miscellaneous Time and
- 16:02Office. Walk distance.
- 16:05What was it had to do that, didn't you?
- 16:06Yes, you had to do that, didn't. Absolutely miscellaneous time an
- 16:11office walk distance. The Postal Service in the NRLCA
- 16:15will designate representatives at the district and area levels
- 16:19to review and adjudicate the disputes filed using this
- 16:23procedure. These representatives will work
- 16:26in teams of two and will consult with local operations personnel
- 16:30to include the District Delivery Support Specialist as necessary
- 16:34to review and discuss the dispute and further develop the
- 16:38supporting documentation to initiate a dispute, the assigned
- 16:41Carrier and local Management Representative representative
- 16:46will complete evaluation Dispute form one.
- 16:50While completing the form, the parties at the local level shall
- 16:53discuss the data fields in dispute and should they agree
- 16:58that an appropriate credit has not been provided, they will
- 17:01annotate the form accordingly. Upon completion, the form with
- 17:06all relevant documents will be forwarded to the Manager Labor
- 17:10Relations at the District and the NRLCA District
- 17:14representatives. This form must be submitted no
- 17:17later than April 19th, 2024. The designated representative at
- 17:23the district level will annotate the dispute on the World Route
- 17:26Evaluation Dispute Log and assign a district control number
- 17:30before meeting with the NRLCA District representative.
- 17:34District teams will thoroughly review all relevant factors that
- 17:39affect the credit provided in the PS Form 4241, a data field
- 17:45in dispute, including any notations of agreements made by
- 17:48the local parties. The team will either agree to a
- 17:51resolution, agree no action will be taken, or will impasse to the
- 17:56dispute and complete the top portion of the evaluation
- 18:00dispute form 2, providing an explanation for the final
- 18:05decision within 30 days of receipt at the district level If
- 18:09the parties are not able to reach an agreement at the
- 18:12district level. Evaluation Dispute Form 1
- 18:16Evaluation Dispute Form 2 and all supporting documentation
- 18:23will be forwarded to the Area Director, Labor Relations or
- 18:27their designee and the NRLCA designated representative.
- 18:31The Area team will jointly complete a review of the file.
- 18:35The Area team will either agree to a resolution, agree no action
- 18:39will be taken over in Pass the Dispute and complete the bottom
- 18:44portion of the Evaluation Dispute Form 2.
- 18:49If the dispute remains unresolved after the area
- 18:52review, each team member will provide a written recommendation
- 18:59for resolution to accompany the file.
- 19:02A copy of the file will be forwarded to the Director
- 19:06Contract Administration, NRLCA and the NRLCA Director of Labor
- 19:11Relations or their designees within 21 calendar days of the
- 19:18receipt at the area level. The headquarters team will
- 19:21jointly review the file and either agree to a resolution
- 19:25agreed. No action will be taken or will
- 19:28impasse the dispute. The team's decision will be in
- 19:32writing and provided to the RREDP team at the area level for
- 19:38further dissemination. The parties agree that if an
- 19:41impasse is reached, the dispute will be referred to step four as
- 19:45an interpretive issue. The parties agree to reassess
- 19:49this dispute process prior to the next rural route evaluation
- 19:52effective date to determine if any changes will be made to
- 19:55these procedures and to update the timelines for submission.
- 19:59All right, that is the MOU on rural route evaluation dispute
- 20:06process. So in a nutshell.
- 20:08Obvious errors in the following data fields of route length,
- 20:12regular, centralized or total boxes, daily dismounts, daily
- 20:16dismount, distance collection compartments, TCP, your traffic
- 20:21control points, daily activities, miscellaneous time
- 20:26and office walk distance. And then of course, if there's
- 20:30any entry of 0 or questionable number in any data field that
- 20:34would otherwise expected to have a time credit, those are what
- 20:36you can dispute. I I kind of have a problem with
- 20:39the timeline of 30 days and 21 calendar days.
- 20:43Somewhere along the line it adds up to 51 to me.
- 20:46How many people have not received their disputes back
- 20:50yet, let alone get their disputes pushed up to Step 2?
- 20:54And I've never heard of any going to Step 3 all.
- 20:57Right. And this is just kind of an
- 20:59addendum with that says rule route dispute process issues and
- 21:04documentation. All disputes must include a
- 21:074241, A 4241 M and the LTM data page R Rex disputes.
- 21:16The rule route evaluation dispute process will be used to
- 21:19address disputes for the assigned carrier has identified
- 21:22potential errors. Local management and the carrier
- 21:25should discuss and work together to submit the necessary
- 21:28documentation needed to resolve the issues and then listed on
- 21:32the following pages some common issues being disputed and the
- 21:35recommended documentation needed at the very minimum that should
- 21:39accompany the dispute. Please remember that each item
- 21:42being disputed should be on its own dispute form along with the
- 21:47necessary documentation. The dispute and the
- 21:50documentation will be sent to the Manager of Labor Relations
- 21:53at the district level by the postmaster and to the NRLCA
- 21:57District Representative. Only clear legible copies should
- 22:01be provided to both parties. Pictures are unacceptable.
- 22:05Hard copy is requested. If you have more than one
- 22:08dispute, you have to have a separate dispute form for each
- 22:12dispute. Yeah, we're not going to go over
- 22:15the documents that you need for each item to go through that.
- 22:18That's a long list and it should be available on the NRLCA.
- 22:24It is available on the NRLCA website.
- 22:26Should be available on rural info as well.
- 22:29As we'll have it available on our Discord in our files, I'll
- 22:36put it there. I'll put it in the files under
- 22:38the the Facebook group as well. Yeah, so you'll be able to find
- 22:44the the information that you need wherever you need it
- 22:46possible, but you have to have your 4241 A, your 4241 M, and
- 22:53your Lya travel Manager data page.
- 22:55The last page after you submit it's gonna show you the box
- 22:59counts, mileage and so on and so forth.
- 23:02So you'll have to have that as well.
- 23:03You realize the dispute form only requires data issues in the
- 23:094241 A. Now the 4241 M is what goes into
- 23:15the 4241 A. So if there is a dispute with a
- 23:19number on your 4241 M, it's going to affect the number on
- 23:23the 4241 A. So you can dispute that stuff.
- 23:28Just make sure that you have the documentation to go with it.
- 23:31This is one of the few times where a situation of an issue
- 23:36like a grievance, you have a dispute with management where
- 23:40you have to provide the documentation versus management
- 23:43providing it, which in my opinion completely sucks because
- 23:46management has all this information already.
- 23:48We should be able to just file a dispute and management be able
- 23:51to pull up that information because they use that
- 23:54information to get this system. Why can't they pull it up
- 23:57themselves? It's the same way they can't
- 23:59give you a a parcel tracking report in a daily basis.
- 24:04Yeah, in. Fact don't even know how to get
- 24:07it. Yeah.
- 24:07In fact it says here there is no 52 week report that could be
- 24:11requested to verify parcel volumes.
- 24:14But yeah, we're supposed to depend on this system to tell us
- 24:16our partial volumes. So yeah.
- 24:18That's funny. That's the dispute process I
- 24:21don't think I have. I personally don't see anything
- 24:25needed to dispute on mine currently at this time, I should
- 24:29say. Glancing over it, I'd like I
- 24:31said I don't have my M yet, but my my 4241 A.
- 24:35It doesn't look like I have anything to dispute currently.
- 24:38Yeah, I'm still waiting on them to come up with the program for
- 24:40us to be able to view our, our numbers ourselves that the union
- 24:44promised us. Yeah, and then they retracted on
- 24:47that and said it wasn't financially feasible.
- 24:50Well, well, no, because they don't want to spend any money on
- 24:53anything other than what's good for them.
- 24:56Like Starbucks. There we go.
- 24:58There we go. I'd rather have crown than
- 25:01Starbucks, honestly. Thank you.
- 25:07I don't even drink coffee at work, so give me a monster 0 any
- 25:11day of the week. But don't.
- 25:12Yeah, they'll coffee for me. You know, I I tried going
- 25:15without coffee on Wednesday morning.
- 25:18My court date's next my my court date is next Tuesday.
- 25:22I have reasons why I don't drink coffee at work.
- 25:24I'm not going to get into those personal reasons as we all know
- 25:26what coffee does to 1, so to some.
- 25:29So yeah, I don't drink coffee at work for that reason, but on
- 25:33Sundays at home I drink coffee. I did have a cup today but.
- 25:37All right, let's let's throw some more more logs on the fire
- 25:41here. Been seeing advertisements for
- 25:45new supervisor positions for people right off the streets.
- 25:49Yeah. Do we really need more
- 25:52supervisors? Well, I mean supervisors.
- 25:56Do we really need more people who don't understand the Postal
- 25:59Service? Do we need people that have
- 26:01never delivered mail supervising carriers?
- 26:07Do we need more people afraid of the postmaster?
- 26:10Who's afraid of the Poon? Who's afraid of the district
- 26:13manager? They'll all lose their jobs if
- 26:15they don't get their reports done by 10:30, because doing
- 26:19those reports moves the mail. You know, when we have our 2O4B
- 26:23on the desk, as even he said, she's like, you know, I'm just
- 26:26kind of a babysitter for you guys.
- 26:28I'm like, we don't need a babysitter.
- 26:29He goes like, yeah, I know you guys don't.
- 26:31I'm just here because they need somebody here and I'm like, but
- 26:35you're doing just fine. He's like, yeah, you guys are no
- 26:38problems. I'll just sit back and tell you
- 26:40you're clear when you get back. I was like, cool, thanks.
- 26:42See you later. Well, that's that's, that's the
- 26:46key. If you actually look at the M38,
- 26:50the M38 does say specifically that management should arrive
- 26:55prior to the first carrier scheduled to work and should not
- 26:59leave until the last carrier is back from their route.
- 27:03And a lot of a lot of offices have gotten away from that.
- 27:07I think that's something we should be enforcing and making
- 27:09management wait for us, especially with driving LL, VS
- 27:12and stuff like that out there. Or delivering Amazon when you
- 27:16started at 10:00 AM on Sunday, Yeah.
- 27:18That's the next stuff to thing to discuss.
- 27:20Oh damn. I'm gonna, I'm gonna be out of
- 27:23this conversation. We don't have Sunday Amazon in
- 27:25my office, so I'm gonna let you guys handle that one.
- 27:30Well, that's Bill and me, 'cause my office, they have to travel
- 27:33to a hub for for delivery. Now.
- 27:35We used to be the hub, but they now have to travel up to
- 27:38Clarkston to deliver for the hub.
- 27:41And I've had conversations with my carriers there and they're
- 27:44not even delivering our parcels out of that hub.
- 27:48They're delivering Clarkston parcels and not just Amazon.
- 27:52They're delivering UPS, they're delivering DHL, they're
- 27:56delivering postal parcels. They're costing routes, money,
- 27:59delivering parcels on Sunday on top of the fact that they're
- 28:03delivering Amazon and starting at 10:00 now.
- 28:07And Bill and I did discuss this during the week and Bill, have
- 28:12at it. Oh God there.
- 28:14There is nothing more joyous than being off.
- 28:17On Thursday. I had to follow up to my
- 28:20operation and everything went well.
- 28:22Doctors pleased with my progress and my mental capacity should
- 28:26return to normal sometime in 2052.
- 28:31Other than that, I get a phone call from a sub saying what the
- 28:36Hell's going on. We can't come into work on
- 28:39Sunday till 10:00 AM and I asked I said, well explain it to me.
- 28:44The supervisor explained that deliveries will start at 10:00
- 28:49AM on Sunday in our office and we're a large office and that's
- 28:53that. Now, everybody knew that this
- 28:56Sunday, today was going to be Easter Sunday.
- 28:58People make family plans weeks, if not a month ahead of time.
- 29:03And this carrier was concerned because they cook and had a lot
- 29:06of people coming over. And I advised the carrier that,
- 29:10you know, using their discretion on whether or not, you know,
- 29:13they, you know, come in earlier or don't come in or do come in.
- 29:17It's up to them, but it's their discretion.
- 29:20So I started making phone calls. First phone call was the Dr. Who
- 29:24wasn't available. Second phone call was to the
- 29:27NRRNRO who was available who then turned around and called
- 29:34our Director of Labor operation. In the meantime I got on the
- 29:38phone. I was calling the Director of
- 29:39Stewart Operations who was not in on Thursday and was sent to
- 29:46the phone voicemail for her assistant because her assistant
- 29:50wasn't available either. The NRR get gets back to me and
- 29:54explains to me that the Director of Labor Operations, Bridget
- 29:58Boziak, explained that management is allowed to change
- 30:04the hours, that that that that they only have to give advance
- 30:07notice, reasonable advance notice when they're changing a
- 30:12regular carrier's delivery. Their drop day, I said to the
- 30:17NROI said, did Bridget understand this was Subs Sunday.
- 30:22Amazon had nothing to do with regular carriers or their drop
- 30:26days, but she quoted an article from our contract, Article 30,
- 30:31in regards to changing drop days.
- 30:33And I'm I just. I had just had to shake my head.
- 30:36Article 34.3 says about getting reasonable advance notice to
- 30:43rule carriers. RCASETFSRCRS are rule carrier
- 30:50didn't say career. It didn't say substitutes.
- 30:52It says rule carriers black and white.
- 30:56I'm not interpreting this. This is in the contract.
- 30:59Now the situation for this one particular carrier turned around
- 31:03and called the supervisor. Supervisor, you know, said, OK,
- 31:06you can come in at 8:30. Now we're going to have a
- 31:09problem with this parity of treatment for one individual
- 31:11over the other six. Half an hour later, supervisor
- 31:14calls back and tells the carrier no, the POOM says it's 10:00.
- 31:19And I'm thinking this is just a regional type thing.
- 31:22And then my phone started popping with people across the
- 31:26country all getting the same message of 10 AM start time.
- 31:31Now the previous week in Westchester, Pennsylvania, three
- 31:35of the West routes, which is, you know, the consolidation of
- 31:38numerous routes, the smallest route was 11.47 hours.
- 31:43The next route was 12 something. The third route, the largest
- 31:48route that went out, was 14 hours, which means if they
- 31:52started at 10:00 AM today, they would have got done at midnight
- 31:57tonight. And what supervisor is going to
- 32:00be out, you know, at the office waiting for the carrier.
- 32:03And on top of that, that that carrier would also know 432.32.
- 32:08Elm says no more than 12 hours and I'd advise them to bring it
- 32:13all back for safety reasons. Being out too long, tired,
- 32:16unsafe. This is just horseshit folks.
- 32:21Now my Dr. did get back and say to me that this is a possible
- 32:26step four class action grievance, but but it has to go
- 32:31through either Bridget or Shirley and how much faith does
- 32:36anybody have in either one of them doing anything for us?
- 32:38This is the absolute pitulation of the National Rule Letter
- 32:43Carriers Association in in the eyes of the post Office because
- 32:47they can say and do anything they want and then they tell us
- 32:50to grieve. I hate that.
- 32:53I'd like to be able to sit there and say no, you know, it's not,
- 32:56it's against the contract, it's against safety, it's immoral,
- 33:00it's illegal. I'm not doing it without
- 33:02repercussions in regards to losing your job.
- 33:05I'm sick and tired of this horseshit, ladies and gentlemen.
- 33:09It's got to stop. And the only way it stops is
- 33:12when we change leadership, because they've done nothing for
- 33:15us for at least the last 15 years.
- 33:18I'm going to say this, the reason why management is
- 33:21changing it to 10:00 is multifaceted.
- 33:26So one of the one of the reasons why is the clerks getting
- 33:30everything up on Sunday is one of their arguments.
- 33:34Another one of their arguments is, Oh well, guess what?
- 33:37If they leave at 10:00, they're more likely to hurry out there,
- 33:41be risky in what they're doing, risk safety in order to deliver
- 33:45more parcels to get done earlier.
- 33:48You're sending them out during the in the summer.
- 33:50It's going to be the hottest time of the year, hottest time
- 33:54of the day. You're going to put them out
- 33:56there delivering these parcels when when they were starting at
- 34:008:00, some of them were getting done at one 2:00 in the
- 34:03afternoon before it really got to the hottest part of the day,
- 34:05which is around 3:00 in the afternoon.
- 34:08Things like that. You're risking carrier safety.
- 34:11You're risking carriers being out past dark.
- 34:15You're risking carriers livelihood and their life
- 34:19because they're going to try and push themselves to deliver
- 34:22parcels that really aren't worth Jack.
- 34:25Your Amazon parcel of paper towels, Kitty litter and dog
- 34:29food doesn't have to be rushed to your house.
- 34:32I understand that dog food's important to your pets, I
- 34:35understand that. But these carriers should not be
- 34:39out there trying to find ways to be quicker at this job at the at
- 34:43the cost of safety. And that's what they're doing by
- 34:47starting them at 10:00 in the morning when the clerks could
- 34:50have been started at 6:30, Amazon could have delivered at
- 34:526:30 in the morning and the parcels could have been up by
- 34:558:30 in the morning. But when you're not thinking
- 34:59about carrier safety, which is management's go to, they don't
- 35:03think about carrier safety. It's all about getting those
- 35:06scans done. So they are not a listed
- 35:08district office. That's when I have an issue with
- 35:11it. Well, the the other part of it,
- 35:13the the backlash of this whole situation is did we not have
- 35:17enough clerks, you know, to sort the parcels?
- 35:19OK, when did the Amazon truck arrive?
- 35:22Did we move, move the start time back because Amazon wants to get
- 35:26more out the door and their truck is arriving late, later?
- 35:30Or is it because of the fact that we are running not only our
- 35:33the Amazon parcels, but the DHL, the FedEx, the the UPS and
- 35:38everything else, but we're also running parcels that we should
- 35:42be getting on Monday. This previous Monday I ran into
- 35:46no less than 23 mailboxes that had burrs in them from Sunday
- 35:53and none of them had Sunday delivery on them.
- 35:56So basically I think there's they're moving it back so they
- 36:01get more time to run these things on the machine, sort them
- 36:03out and get the parcels out on Sunday so that we don't get
- 36:07credit for them on Monday. And that's what our Dr. is going
- 36:09to have to look into because our packages that unless they
- 36:13specify Sunday delivery shouldn't be going out the damn
- 36:17door and we shouldn't be holding up for Amazon to get there if
- 36:21their truck's getting there later.
- 36:23We work with Amazon. Not for.
- 36:25At least not yet. It's this is not something that
- 36:29should be happening and I believe that if if it's this
- 36:32way, the carrier should be getting there on Sunday at the
- 36:35same time that the carriers normally get there for delivery
- 36:39Monday through Saturday. So if your office is at 8:00 AM
- 36:42start time, your carrier should be there and picking up at 8:00
- 36:45AM all these Amazon parcels. It's that simple.
- 36:50It shouldn't be. Oh, well, we're going to push it
- 36:52back to 10:00 so we can sort all the priority, express the DHLU,
- 36:58PS:, FedEx, laser ship, everybody else.
- 37:04So that way we can we can have this office completely empty of
- 37:07parcels for Monday. Yeah, no, because now you're
- 37:10doing now you're taking away those parcels from the routes
- 37:14evaluation, the ones that are not Sunday Amazon, the other
- 37:19everything else that does not have Sunday delivery on it is
- 37:22supposed to go out on Monday. You know you're pulling from
- 37:25people's evaluations, which is total horseshit.
- 37:29Well, I like the explanation that, Oh well, we we can push
- 37:33the priority package packages along the line.
- 37:37The priority packages give you an estimation of when they're
- 37:41going to arrive. There is no guarantee that
- 37:43they'll arrive within three to five days.
- 37:46It's an average, an estimation. So they don't have to go out on
- 37:50Sundays either. If you have an express mail,
- 37:53fine. If you have something that says
- 37:55Sunday delivery, fine. Otherwise, leave it on the floor
- 38:00for Monday. We all know Mondays are heavy
- 38:03normally. And you know we're we're tuned
- 38:05to that. But stop stealing from the
- 38:08craft. It's not like they actually care
- 38:11about it anyways, because Express sits until the next day
- 38:13now anyways and is a failure, so it's not really a big issue of
- 38:18that either. So that can wait till Monday
- 38:20anyways, because it's already a failure because it sat there on
- 38:23Saturday after it was delivered after the carrier left.
- 38:26So it's not really a big deal there either.
- 38:28So it's it's not really about getting it out there because
- 38:33it's there. It's about getting it out of
- 38:34there. So it's not on the carrier's
- 38:36evaluation. You're right about that.
- 38:38And answering to the statement in the listener chat, says
- 38:44Kristen. Don't you think that's the plan
- 38:46to hand off volume on Sunday to cut routes?
- 38:49Yeah, I honestly believe that's management's idea of trying to
- 38:54control the evaluations in some form or another is to hand off
- 39:00that stuff that normally would have gone out on Monday and have
- 39:03it delivered on Sunday, 'cause now anything we all know that's
- 39:06delivered on Sunday and holidays is not counted towards the
- 39:10evaluation. I can totally see that they we
- 39:13had that issue in an office just South of me that they were
- 39:16throwing stuff on that didn't belong to be delivered on
- 39:20Sundays. I mean, I remember that when we
- 39:23first got Amazon in my old office, there were days where
- 39:26that we had the priorities to to bulk up the routes because it
- 39:30wasn't as heavy here. And you know, at the time it was
- 39:34before RX and nobody really thought about it like that, you
- 39:38know? But now that you're thinking
- 39:39about that, yeah, I mean that's messing with our evaluation,
- 39:42that's messing with our pay. That's one way for management to
- 39:45try and and and control what our evaluations are.
- 39:49And I know, I know my manager, when she gets back, guess she's
- 39:52on vacation again. This week will not be happy that
- 39:54my route went up an hour. I know she won't be happy
- 39:57because I'm tied with the other route for the biggest routes in
- 40:00the office. You think I care?
- 40:03No, I you know I feel that yeah my route should be a 46 I have
- 40:09out of outside of the one other route which is totally different
- 40:12zip code. The only route for that zip
- 40:13code. I do have the biggest route in
- 40:15the office, the heaviest route in the office.
- 40:17But yeah, it's I I don't agree with it.
- 40:20And this pushing the start times to 10:00.
- 40:23Even though it doesn't affect my office directly, I I think it's
- 40:26a lot of horse crap, I really do.
- 40:29Because again, you're pushing the safety issues.
- 40:32It's like the same safety issues that we have on the Rcas.
- 40:35When you have these pooms and district managers having
- 40:38teleconferences just for Rcas telling them they got to get out
- 40:41of the office faster, they have to be back by 5:00.
- 40:45I'm sorry if your start time's 8:00 AM and you're on a route
- 40:48that is 9 plus hours. You don't have to be back by
- 40:525:00. The only ruling in there for RC
- 40:55as is the 12 hour rule. So why are we going to try and
- 40:57rush them into unsafe work practices?
- 41:01Because management wants to go home at 5:00.
- 41:04That's a big bite me. Yep, it is.
- 41:07And I'm dealing with that in my office with pushing these RC as.
- 41:11So we're putting two RC as on one route and getting a borrowed
- 41:15RCA to to to split another route with another RCA because we
- 41:20don't want these carriers out past 5:00 because we want to go
- 41:23home. Why are you bringing a carrier
- 41:25from 40 miles away to split a route that's not even fair to
- 41:29that carrier who's driving 40 miles in to have some hours to
- 41:32do half a route? And why are you bringing in a
- 41:35carrier from another office when you have an RCA from our office
- 41:40sitting at home that day? Sorry I had to go there I it's
- 41:47nice that we we we have a steward now that just got
- 41:50certified in our office and even though that person can't tell
- 41:55these Rcas what they can and can't do for for filing and you
- 42:00know it's their choice. I sure as hell can educate them
- 42:03and I have been and I will continue it our.
- 42:06Responsibility as members of this craft to let people know
- 42:11when they have an issue that they can get solved with a
- 42:14grievance process. That's the only.
- 42:17That and honest and honestly people.
- 42:20There are many of many, many carriers out there that have
- 42:23absolutely no faith in the grievance process and just let
- 42:26things go because they have no faith in the grievance process.
- 42:30They have no faith in in the steward system right now.
- 42:34And I I understand that. I I have seen those people in my
- 42:37office, even when I was a steward, that was the most, the
- 42:41hardest thing for me, 'cause they would they, you know, like
- 42:44the keyboard warriors out there, they're going to bitch and whine
- 42:47and moan and groan all day long, but they're not doing anything.
- 42:51And honestly, the grievance process is the only way that we
- 42:55have to fight back. It is the only thing to have
- 42:59that paper trail, to fight back, to fight against management and
- 43:03uphold our rights in our contract, in our offices.
- 43:07It is the only thing that we have.
- 43:09And I you know, I suggest people use it.
- 43:11And that's a shame, because a lot of people don't have faith,
- 43:14just like they don't have faith in the RECS program and the
- 43:18dispute process. Too many people are too
- 43:21complacent and there are many carriers out there that are very
- 43:27complacent in way the old system was.
- 43:30This is not the old system anymore.
- 43:32It's never going to go back to the old system.
- 43:34As far as I can see in the future, it's this is, it's here,
- 43:37it's here to stay. You need to learn it.
- 43:41You know, we did have that episode 16 with the activity
- 43:45scans and I have suggested before that we do an updated one
- 43:48and we may still do it just to retouch on the things that have
- 43:51changed to get people out of that complacency.
- 43:55If you're going to be complacent and even if you're looking to
- 43:59retire, you may screw that next carrier that's going to come up
- 44:02and take that route over. Because that route may be
- 44:05severely under evaluated. But because you're complacent
- 44:08and just don't care, that next carrier is going to have to work
- 44:12their tails off to get everything where it needs to be
- 44:15for that next year to get that route to be where it should be.
- 44:19If it is one of those that is severely under evaluated, and I
- 44:22know there's still some out there, and then we have some of
- 44:25these ridiculous ones that I've seen 90 standard hours, 15 1/2
- 44:32hour daily evaluation hours, what the hell I?
- 44:39Want a two day routes? Kristen, I want to disagree with
- 44:41you about going back to the old ways because they did have a
- 44:46modification on the Rex program for the pars labels and they
- 44:52change, they change the verbiage on there so that you're only
- 44:56getting credit for the pars labels during the mini mail
- 44:59survey which. I absolutely disagree with.
- 45:02Yes, and it's the same damn thing that we went through with
- 45:06the mail count only what happened during the mail count?
- 45:09Did it count, folks, if you have an apartment complex, if you
- 45:13have townhomes, if you have seasonal routes, Yeah, right.
- 45:20And I'm going to, I'm going to use mine for for an instance.
- 45:22Real quick guys. I have a very seasonal route.
- 45:25I have over 100 seasonal residents on my route.
- 45:29I had one pars label during the mini mail survey, one that was a
- 45:35move left, no address that I had done since that mini mail
- 45:39survey. That has ended.
- 45:41I've gotten over half a dozen Pars labels because of my people
- 45:45that are coming back or some of that are changing them.
- 45:48Some of that are, you know, decided they're not coming back
- 45:50quite, you know, so soon. They extended it out.
- 45:53They deleted it early, 'cause they're coming back.
- 45:56I've got, I've got several different residence areas that
- 46:00are, you know, constantly flipping new people in and out,
- 46:03new people in and out. I've had over a half a dozen
- 46:06pars labels since the mini mail survey ended.
- 46:08And during the mini mail survey I had one and the next mini mail
- 46:12survey at the end of August. I probably will have just as
- 46:16many because my seasonals don't leave till October.
- 46:19So, and that actually just puts me right into a perfect
- 46:23discussion here. We do have an episode on
- 46:26resolutions that you could put forth at your annual local
- 46:31meeting or at your state convention that can go on to
- 46:35national. One of my resolutions is to
- 46:37bring back the 52 weeks of powers labels.
- 46:41I'm passing that up this year because I am.
- 46:44I just like you. I had before the mini mail
- 46:48survey. Two weeks before the mini mail
- 46:50survey, I had 12 powers labels. During the mini mail survey I
- 46:54had 9 powers labels that were all moved left, no addresses
- 46:58that I did myself from addresses that I got mail back from people
- 47:03on the route. The people that haven't lived
- 47:04there, granted they were move left, no address ones, but
- 47:09they're still counting for the mini mail survey.
- 47:11But I'm putting it in as a resolution.
- 47:14One of the current 17 that I'm putting forth for National
- 47:18Convention right now. Anybody that's wants to get
- 47:23involved once, that's one of the ways you can do that is put in
- 47:27resolutions to make changes like this, to make difference in the
- 47:31craft, to tell the tell the leadership what you want the
- 47:35craft to have either in the next contract, in the, in the
- 47:38national constitution, things like that.
- 47:41So go back and review our episode on resolutions that we
- 47:45have. The information has not changed
- 47:48in that one at least. Or even an activity scan for
- 47:51pars labels that hey, I'd be all about that too.
- 47:56I'd have no issues on that pars labels.
- 47:58Enter the quantity you have that day.
- 48:00What's wrong with that? I and.
- 48:02If you have a yeah, if you bar code them then you know they can
- 48:06be recognized. Yeah, yeah, I have no issues
- 48:09with that. That would be that would solve
- 48:10something over a 52 week. But they're printed out.
- 48:13It's not like they don't know how many are coming in each day.
- 48:17They're printing them out every day.
- 48:20Don't go too far, OK? I I I usually get them two or
- 48:24three days after. Think yeah, people have moved
- 48:27forward. I have a premium forward.
- 48:29I got a week and 1/2 after it started and the clerk came to my
- 48:33case and said the city's calling up complaining she's not getting
- 48:36her premium forward. I said tell her I'm in the same
- 48:39boat. I I haven't gotten it either.
- 48:42But yeah, I mean, I would be all about an activity scan for Parse
- 48:45labels. I have no issue with that
- 48:47whatsoever that that would definitely be something to lick
- 48:51into future wise. And there was one more thing you
- 48:54wanted to discuss tonight, Kristen.
- 48:56Relief day work list. Yes, the biggest, the biggest
- 49:01arguments I've seen on Facebook the past couple of weeks I think
- 49:06has been the relief day work list, not the overtime list.
- 49:11We do not have an overtime list. We are not city carriers.
- 49:14We do not have overtime. We cannot accept overtime.
- 49:19We can volunteer for it through an MOU, but we do not have an
- 49:23overtime list. Please do.
- 49:25Please correct your manager if they're calling you on the
- 49:28overtime list. It is the relief day work list,
- 49:33no ifs, ands or buts. Works hand in hand with the
- 49:36order of consideration. Yes.
- 49:39Yes, relief day work list let me pull this up.
- 49:42Sorry. I got logged out before I had it
- 49:44up. I had it up but.
- 49:46We were talking too much and you lost.
- 49:48You lost your timing on that? Yeah, it's OK though.
- 49:52It's OK. Relief day work list is covered
- 49:55in Article 8.5 as well as Article 30.2, point D as in Dog
- 50:01.5 of the contract. There is also the Wilson letter,
- 50:06the P115. There is a letter of mutual
- 50:10understanding from 2000, the R 98.
- 50:14There is a Step 4 from O2, which is now considered the R 96.
- 50:21There is a Step 4 from O5 which is considered the H70.
- 50:26And then of course there's the implication guidelines, the R-95
- 50:30for the relief Day worklist. This came out back in what 99?
- 50:36So this is the implementation guideline for the relief day
- 50:38work list and PTF role carrier positions and the extension to
- 50:42the 95 through 99USPS NRLCA national agreement.
- 50:47I'm going to just cover the relief day work list part.
- 50:49So the new provision allows regular carriers who desire to
- 50:52work their relief day to place their names on a relief day work
- 50:56list in the delivery unit in order to implement this new
- 50:59provision immediately. There will be two week initial
- 51:02implementation period. Regular rule carriers signed a
- 51:06relief day work list period. This was back 2000, so that's
- 51:10the beginning of this period. Management in each delivery unit
- 51:12with a real delivery will establish a list for regular
- 51:15rule carriers to sign indicating their desire to work any relief
- 51:19day needed until the end of the guarantee period.
- 51:23So I'm just kind of going to highlight just the important
- 51:26stuff here. And if it is necessary to work a
- 51:31regular rule carrier on a relief day, management will select the
- 51:34senior rule carrier on the list with the applicable relief day.
- 51:39Each occasion thereafter, management will rotate the
- 51:43assignment to the to work the relief day among the rule
- 51:47carriers on the list with the needed relief day.
- 51:50The regular rule carrier selected to work the relief day
- 51:53will serve on his or her assigned regular route the leave
- 51:57replacement that would have otherwise been working that
- 52:00route will be utilized on the rural route in the delivery unit
- 52:03without coverage for that day. If the leave replacement has
- 52:06never served, that route is qualified on another route in
- 52:09the delivery unit. Management may change
- 52:11assignments with another leave replacement who has experienced
- 52:13on the route needing coverage. Our substitutes Rcas and RCRS
- 52:17serving primary assignments and those assigned to auxiliary
- 52:20routes may not have their assignments changed.
- 52:24Management may also say, well we don't have TR CS anymore to
- 52:27serve the routes needing coverage and place the RC on a
- 52:29route in which he or she is qualified.
- 52:31If the routes in the delivery unit still do not have coverage
- 52:34after exhausting the relief day work list, management will
- 52:36select regular rule carriers not on the list that have indicated
- 52:40they want to work the relief day on that day before mandating.
- 52:43Regular carriers not on the list by juniority management maybe
- 52:47bypass a regular carrier whether they are on the relief day work
- 52:50list or not, if it would cause the carrier to exceed the hours
- 52:54of the annual guarantee or 56 actual hours within one week.
- 52:59Only. Regular rule carriers who names
- 53:01around the relief day work list will be provided one of the
- 53:03three composition options described below.
- 53:06When working the relief day, it must be emphasized that
- 53:09management must utilize available leave replacements in
- 53:12the delivery unit before assigning a regular rule carrier
- 53:16to work the relief day. Qualified leave replacements
- 53:20must be utilized prior to signing other leave replacements
- 53:23in the office to work the Relief Day Compensation for Working
- 53:26Relief Day. All regular carriers not on the
- 53:29relief day work list to work the relief day will receive a
- 53:31compensation at 50% of the carrier's daily rate of pay.
- 53:36In addition to receiving an X day within 12 weeks as scheduled
- 53:40by the employer. Regular rule carriers on the
- 53:43Relief Day work list to work the relief day will select one of
- 53:46the following options, one an X day to immediately schedule by
- 53:51mutual agreement between the carrier and the employer.
- 53:54The scheduled X day must be within the next 12 weeks, which
- 53:58is essentially A DACA R #2 compensation at 50% of the
- 54:03carrier's daily rate of pay, in addition to receiving an X day
- 54:07within 12 weeks as scheduled by the employer.
- 54:10DACA 3 #3 compensation at 150% of the rule carrier's daily rate
- 54:16of pay. The carrier will not receive an
- 54:18X day. That's a deck of five.
- 54:20The regular rule carrier must make his or her election at the
- 54:23above options no later than the day of the worked relief day.
- 54:27Regular rule carriers who earn an X day for working relief days
- 54:31from the beginning of the guarantee period through the end
- 54:34of the Christmas period must receive the X day within the
- 54:37same period pay period in which the relief day was worked.
- 54:41Regular rule carriers who did not receive this corresponding
- 54:44earned X day within the same pay period will receive 100% of
- 54:48their daily rate of pay in lieu of the X day.
- 54:52So yes, we do not have an ODL. We have a relief day work list
- 54:57manage assignment of non Saturday relief days.
- 55:01Management may assign non Saturday relief days in limited
- 55:03situations in those offices where there's an insufficient
- 55:07number of leave replacements and one or more regular carriers are
- 55:10working relief days. On more than infrequent
- 55:13occasions it may be necessary to change the relief day on one or
- 55:16more K route. This kind of goes into the PTF
- 55:19formula stuff, so I'm just kind of going to drop that off for
- 55:21now. Relief day worklist is supposed
- 55:24to be rotating. You need to use all available
- 55:28leave replacements first and then actually let me pull up the
- 55:31order of consideration real quick.
- 55:33I have this. Well, my my biggest concern is
- 55:37that they're trying to convert us into like a modified city
- 55:41carrier position. Because when the supervisor
- 55:43comes over and says aren't you on the overtime desire list and
- 55:47say no, I'm a rule carrier, that's a city function, they go,
- 55:51well, it's the same thing. No, it's not go away and they
- 55:56look at me like I'm nuts. I'm I'm trying to be nice about
- 55:59it while I'm laughing. No, we don't have an overtime
- 56:02desire list. You can't, you know, force me to
- 56:05help on other routes during the week.
- 56:07You can't. And you especially can't ask me
- 56:09to help on my drop day when if I work, my drop day can't pay me
- 56:12any more than you are. All right Order of consideration
- 56:16The Covering a route when a regular rule carrier is absent.
- 56:19The document represents the position of the NRLCA as
- 56:22supported by the contractual and other language cited #1 Primary
- 56:26assigned leave replacement Entitled to weekly evaluated
- 56:30hours when covering the route for full week may only then be
- 56:33replaced to avoid overtime or additional overtime.
- 56:37And this is from article 30.2 point O and then B when covering
- 56:43route for entire week they may be required and or request to
- 56:46take a relief day on J or K routes.
- 56:49The relief day is not necessarily the same as the
- 56:52regular carrier Article 30.2 point HC.
- 56:57When a leave replacement is being scheduled on a day-to-day
- 57:00basis, the primary substitute RCA or RCR must be scheduled for
- 57:05work on their primary assignment if available, even if this
- 57:09results in compensation at the overtime rate.
- 57:13Pre Arbitration settlements from March of 2005, known as the M 84
- 57:20#2. If the primary assigned leave
- 57:22replacement is not available, management may assign an
- 57:26available part time flexible row carrier before assigning the
- 57:29second or third relief replacement on the matrix.
- 57:33Article 30.2 Point D .2 and the M84 again #3 assign the leave
- 57:40replacement in the secondary spot on the matrix.
- 57:43No entitlement to overtime, but also from the M84.
- 57:48Assign the leave #4, Assign the leave replacement in the
- 57:53retiree. The third spot on the matrix.
- 57:57No entitlement to overtime. Again citing the M 84 #5
- 58:02assigned by seniority. Another qualified substitute RC
- 58:06or RCR in that delivery unit. Qualified means having received
- 58:10training or been utilized on the route.
- 58:12No entitlement to overtime. Article 30.2, Point D .3, and
- 58:19again the M84 number six If No Qualified Substitutes, Rule
- 58:24Carrier Associates or Rule Carrier Relief Employees within
- 58:27the Delivery Unit are available, the Employer may designate any
- 58:32other leave replacement in the office prior to selecting a
- 58:35regular rule Carrier to work in accordance with Article 8.5 #7.
- 58:42If no other leave replacement in the office are available, the
- 58:45Employer may schedule a leave Replacement from another office
- 58:49before selecting a regular rural carrier to work in accordance
- 58:53with Article 8.5. If a leave replacement is
- 58:57scheduled to case and carry a regular rural route in his or
- 59:02her assigned office, the leave replacement is considered
- 59:07unavailable to work in another office.
- 59:10Article 30.2 Point D .5 I have heard many times where Rcas are
- 59:16running full routes and then getting sent into other offices.
- 59:20No no no no, no File #8. Management may on some occasions
- 59:26split a route or schedule an RCA to serve a regular route and an
- 59:30auxiliary route. Note the NRLCA position is that
- 59:35the term on some occasions does not include scheduling multiple
- 59:40assignments or splitting routes on a repeated or ongoing basis.
- 59:46Except in emergency situations, Management must not schedule a
- 59:50leave replacement to serve on two full assignments or one full
- 59:55assignment and one or more partial assignments in a single
- 59:58day if the evaluations of these assignments total 12 hours or
- 1:00:04more. That falls under the step 4R96
- 1:00:10and the Wilson letter. The P 115 #9 select a regular
- 1:00:17carrier to work in accordance with Article 8.5 A Select
- 1:00:23carriers on the relief day work list in order of seniority on a
- 1:00:27rotating basis to work on their relief day.
- 1:00:32Carriers on Relief day work list are paid one of the ways at
- 1:00:36their option. Article 9.2 Point C .5 point
- 1:00:42little off 1A DACA code R carrier management mutual agree
- 1:00:47on X day within next 12 weeks. No additional compensation.
- 1:00:51Use the Form 3971 for that bleeded and same consideration
- 1:00:56as approved annual leave. Yes, X days have the same
- 1:00:59consideration as annual leave #2 DACA 3, the 50% additional
- 1:01:04compensation and X day scheduled by management within next 12
- 1:01:08weeks. Management must give three days
- 1:01:11notice when scheduling X day. This is under the Wilson letter.
- 1:01:14The P 115 #3 DACA code 5 Carrier receives 100% of daily
- 1:01:22evaluation evaluated. Pay no X day letter B.
- 1:01:26If the need exists, the employer will accept volunteers from
- 1:01:30regular carriers not on the list before requiring regular
- 1:01:34carriers not on the list to work their relief day.
- 1:01:38Such requirement will be by juniority.
- 1:01:41Article 8.5 point A .2 C Require regular work.
- 1:01:47Require a regular carrier not on the relief day work list to
- 1:01:51work. This is done by juniority and
- 1:01:54does not rotate. DACA code 3 is the only
- 1:01:58compensation choice. Article 9.2 Point C .5 point
- 1:02:03little G notes any regular carrier may be bypassed from
- 1:02:08working a relief day if the hours worked would cause them to
- 1:02:12exceed 2080 hours for the guarantee year or 56 hours for
- 1:02:16the week. Article 8.5 Point C Regular
- 1:02:20carriers with annual leave, sick leave, or an X day scheduled
- 1:02:24adjacent to their relief day will not be required to work
- 1:02:29their relief day. Article 8.5 Point A .3 and then
- 1:02:36#10IN emergencies, any other qualified employee may be
- 1:02:41assigned. Article 30.2 Point D points it
- 1:02:45and that is the order of consideration and the relief day
- 1:02:48work list. Oh God, I'm relieved to hear
- 1:02:51that. And just for that, I need
- 1:02:54another sip of juice. The thing about it for everybody
- 1:02:59is it is a relief day work list. That is the only day and they
- 1:03:07have to notify you in advance if they're going to work you on
- 1:03:11your relief day. Don't think that they're just
- 1:03:13going to call you up the day of and be like, hey, Nope, somebody
- 1:03:17else called in. We need you to come in and run
- 1:03:19the route because you're on the relief day work list.
- 1:03:21That's not how it works. They can try and if you agree
- 1:03:25then you go in, but they can't force you to come in on the day
- 1:03:29of. And they can't just and like
- 1:03:31some management thinks if you're on the relief day work list,
- 1:03:34then you're automatically volunteering to work every
- 1:03:38relief day and that's that, that's how some management sees
- 1:03:42it, like mine, all right. And so with our MO U that we
- 1:03:46currently have out, that would fall in place before #10 and
- 1:03:51those that are not familiar with the MO U about working other
- 1:03:56stuff, let me see if I could find it there it is.
- 1:04:00So that MO U again. Due to the continued staffing
- 1:04:05challenges in the rural delivery operations, the parties have
- 1:04:08agreed to a temporary limited modification to Article 8.1.
- 1:04:14I don't know how temporary this is anymore, guys, which
- 1:04:18prohibits regular rule carriers working on Sunday into Article
- 1:04:2130.1 Point P, which prohibits regular rule carriers from
- 1:04:26serving all or part of any rule route other than his or her
- 1:04:31assigned route. No regular carrier will be
- 1:04:34required to work on Sunday or serve part of any rural route
- 1:04:39other than their assigned route. For the purpose of the work
- 1:04:43outlined in this MOU, regular rural carriers must volunteer to
- 1:04:49perform these additional duties beginning Saturday, March 9th
- 1:04:53and continuing through Friday, August 23rd.
- 1:04:56Regular rural Carriers may volunteer to work on Sunday and
- 1:05:02may also volunteer to provide assistance on other role routes
- 1:05:06in the office. Managers will ask for volunteer
- 1:05:10regular Role Carriers who wish to work on Sundays to deliver
- 1:05:14packages on any routes in the office or performs or per
- 1:05:20perform service on other role routes Monday through Saturday.
- 1:05:25Volunteering to work on Sunday or on other rural routes does
- 1:05:29not provide a guarantee or entitlement to these assignment
- 1:05:34to work these assignments. Prior to scheduling a regular
- 1:05:38rural Carrier who has volunteered for Sunday work as
- 1:05:41identified in this MOU, management must first schedule
- 1:05:45all Assistant Rural Carriers Arcs who are assigned to either
- 1:05:50the Hub or Associated Spoke Offices and then all available
- 1:05:54leave replacements in the office including stations, branches,
- 1:05:59and any remotely managed post Offices RMPOS prior to
- 1:06:04scheduling volunteer regular Carrier Regular Roll Carriers
- 1:06:08for Sunday work. Volunteer Regular Roll Carriers
- 1:06:12will be scheduled for Sunday work on a rotating basis by
- 1:06:16seniority following the scheduling of Arcs and leave
- 1:06:20replacements as outlined above, A regular rule carriers assigned
- 1:06:25route must be completed prior to scheduling that volunteer
- 1:06:29regular rule carrier for service on another route in the office.
- 1:06:34In addition, offices must comply with the provisions of Article
- 1:06:3830.2 point D prior to the scheduling of a volunteer
- 1:06:42regular rule carrier to perform assistance on another rule route
- 1:06:47in the office. Regular rule carriers will be
- 1:06:51compensated at the overtime rate pursuant to Article 9.2 point A,
- 1:06:56.1 point little K for hours worked on Sunday and for
- 1:07:00services on any rural route other than their assigned
- 1:07:04routes. All work hours must be recorded
- 1:07:07in the actual weekly hours block on the PS Form 1314.
- 1:07:12Hours worked on Sunday or spent providing service on the rural
- 1:07:16routes are on other rural routes are also annotated in the daily
- 1:07:20overtime block. Regular rural carriers who work
- 1:07:24the relief day in accordance with Article 8.5 will not be
- 1:07:29scheduled to perform service on other rural routes in the office
- 1:07:32on that day. Additionally, management may
- 1:07:35bypass scheduling these volunteer regular rural carriers
- 1:07:38to work on Sunday or other rule routes if it would cause the
- 1:07:42carrier to exceed the annual work hour guarantee.
- 1:07:46OK, I'm done. It's volunteer only guys and
- 1:07:49they can't. Manage, supposedly.
- 1:07:50Supposedly. Supposedly you know, and that's
- 1:07:54The thing is is a lot of a lot of management is going to try
- 1:07:59and force you to do things that you shouldn't be doing, but you
- 1:08:04should make sure that you're doing the right thing and taking
- 1:08:09care of yourself and following the contract as much as you can.
- 1:08:14When I had that instance on Monday, Monday for example when
- 1:08:17I went out and assisted on the other two routes after I
- 1:08:19completed mine and I say completed because when I got
- 1:08:23back to the office at 5:30 and my supervisor's like did you get
- 1:08:27my text? I said Nope.
- 1:08:30She had texted me two hours prior.
- 1:08:32I looked it up after the fact that said to just go right out
- 1:08:37and don't come back to the office to go out and find the
- 1:08:39other kid and go help him first. No, you complete your route, you
- 1:08:44come back, you do your return to DU, you do your end of shift
- 1:08:48duties. Once that is done then you flip
- 1:08:51PM casing, you flip that scanner over to the correct route and
- 1:08:56then you go out and do what you got to do on that next route and
- 1:08:59then when you get back you flip your scanner back over to your
- 1:09:02route and then you clock out. I've I've got a question for you
- 1:09:07because this has happened and your your professional advice
- 1:09:12would be appreciated on this. What what what if you're not on
- 1:09:15the the work day relief list and you come back Friday afternoon
- 1:09:19at let's see, 4:50 PM? Not 145 like you do, but 450
- 1:09:26like I do. And there's a note on your case
- 1:09:29saying Bill we have two open routes tomorrow.
- 1:09:32I need you to come in. What would your advice be to me?
- 1:09:35No, you have two open routes tomorrow.
- 1:09:41Sucks to be you. I'm not on the relief day work
- 1:09:43list and you're probably one of the more senior carriers and in
- 1:09:48my instance I'm the junior carrier so I'm the low man on
- 1:09:51the fuck me pole and which is sorry, I've dubbed that as the
- 1:09:55totem, the totem pole. And in my instance yesterday I
- 1:10:01not on the relief day work list, so I was forced into work.
- 1:10:05Well, first of all a a note at your case is not a proper form
- 1:10:08of communication. Second of all, like like
- 1:10:11Frequency said, what note? Because it would go in my pocket
- 1:10:17and go home with me. I wouldn't throw it in the trash
- 1:10:19can next to my case. Oh no, no.
- 1:10:21You just save that up as documentation to use them
- 1:10:23against them in a future date. And and I just sit there and and
- 1:10:27I laugh. It's like you, you could call me
- 1:10:30up to ask me about a missing parcel that a customer says it's
- 1:10:34supposed to be in the parcel locker and I go back to the CVU
- 1:10:37and it's in their mail slot. There's no key in the mail slot
- 1:10:42indicating A parcel locker parcel, but there's a week and a
- 1:10:45half's mail plus the spur that would fit in there.
- 1:10:48And you you just if if you don't have a key, well, I didn't find
- 1:10:53the key in it. How could you find the key if
- 1:10:55you didn't look in your mail slot, which is jammed with mail
- 1:11:00and the spur you're looking for? I read the numbers off and and
- 1:11:04the supervisor goes that's the numbers.
- 1:11:05I'm like, what do you want me to do?
- 1:11:08Would you mind taking it to the door?
- 1:11:09No problem, and I took it to the door and scanned it again.
- 1:11:13Absolutely. And that's another thing that I
- 1:11:16get all the time and we found this you know we got newer RCAS,
- 1:11:19they miss may miss deliver. I mean my RCA is good.
- 1:11:22He does have a little bit of dyslexia.
- 1:11:24So once in a while I'll pick something up that, you know,
- 1:11:27he's gotten my route down pretty good and I did have to say
- 1:11:30something to him. I said, did you have a dyslexia
- 1:11:32moment Saturday? He's like I said, I picked up
- 1:11:36two parcels out of five O fours box that belonged to seven O
- 1:11:40fours. He's like, oh oops.
- 1:11:42But you know what? When I grab those and I took
- 1:11:44them to seven O 4I scanned them delivered at the box at the
- 1:11:48time. If you're going to be fixing
- 1:11:50misdelivered packages and this goes out to you RC as as well,
- 1:11:54if you if you recover a misdelivered package and you go
- 1:11:57and deliver it to where it needs to go, scan it delivered.
- 1:12:02When you redeliver it that way, the tracking is showing that it,
- 1:12:08yes, it was redelivered to you on that day at this time in this
- 1:12:11location, right guys? I I have I have to make a
- 1:12:15comment that you you know I I put up in several Facebook
- 1:12:19groups the comment that if we don't have the disputes back
- 1:12:24then the routes shouldn't be adjusted.
- 1:12:27I'm a little over 780 responses on the five different pages I
- 1:12:32put it on. One of the responses that I got
- 1:12:35back was funny because the individual said how can this be
- 1:12:40and they have a zero in their salary on their 4241 A and you
- 1:12:44know what my response was you're looking at the wrong sheet.
- 1:12:47That's the sheet that belongs in your book.
- 1:12:50At your case. Because they left.
- 1:12:53Yeah, you hear the they left the personal copy with the salary
- 1:12:57back at the office. And and ladies and gentlemen, I
- 1:13:00I don't want to be disparaging in any sense of the matter, but
- 1:13:04please pay attention. Details matter.
- 1:13:07And especially if you're leaving that stuff there then you know
- 1:13:10there's people in your office going around checking
- 1:13:12everybody's evaluation. They're sneaking in earlier.
- 1:13:15They're they're at the end of the shift.
- 1:13:16They're they're walking around checking people's cases to see
- 1:13:20who went up and who went down because not everybody's open
- 1:13:22about what happened to the routes in my office.
- 1:13:26We had most of our routes go down, you know, two to three
- 1:13:29hours. Some went down four and five
- 1:13:31hours. Maybe it was the FSS flats that
- 1:13:35you know were discontinued. I lost an hour there.
- 1:13:37Maybe it was because the radar reports didn't accurately report
- 1:13:41the WSH numbers, the political mail numbers or whatever the
- 1:13:45other drop off publications we get at the back of the dock.
- 1:13:49Don't leave your personal information out there for people
- 1:13:52to go gawk at, OK? I agree.
- 1:13:55I have my personal one with my salary at home with me and the
- 1:14:00other one will go in their out book obviously.
- 1:14:03But yeah it's you know and I got a lot of people saying you know
- 1:14:06integrity scan when when you scan it, when you redeliver it,
- 1:14:09if it was a misdeliver package or something, not only is a
- 1:14:13yeah, I get it an integrity scan but then also was a CYA scan
- 1:14:19because that's going to cover your behind.
- 1:14:22And I last Saturday I had mentioned I I worked my relief
- 1:14:28day last Saturday and rode along as a trainer with our other RCA
- 1:14:34that's been there a little bit longer than the two newer ones
- 1:14:36just to see where he was at because I didn't train him.
- 1:14:39And that was the big thing is I was getting him.
- 1:14:43I said scan it where you deliver it, don't scan it in the truck,
- 1:14:46don't scan it. The old version, I remember all
- 1:14:49the old regulars when we didn't have GPS on the scanners, you
- 1:14:53would scan it, you know, as you're driving half a block away
- 1:14:56to that box and have it scanned and throw it in the box.
- 1:14:59I said don't do that. I said the regular was doing
- 1:15:02that, wasn't he? And he's like, yeah, I said
- 1:15:04don't do that. I said for this specific reason
- 1:15:07is to cover your own ass, and I use this with everybody that I
- 1:15:12train when it comes to scanning it where you deliver it.
- 1:15:15Two Christmases ago, when I was still in RCA and it was actually
- 1:15:19I was covering the route that I have now, I delivered a package
- 1:15:23at the door. I scanned it on the front porch
- 1:15:26right outside the door and left it there.
- 1:15:29The customer called the next day saying they never got the
- 1:15:32package. It's we pulled it right up on
- 1:15:36the map and showed Pinpoint right there where I scanned it
- 1:15:39on the front porch where I left it.
- 1:15:42That covers your behind, scan it where you deliver it.
- 1:15:48So yeah, that's where you know it's it.
- 1:15:51It's all about covering your own behind.
- 1:15:53Well, I like the the people that sit there and say, well, I don't
- 1:15:56have Pocket put the scanner in when I take a big package up
- 1:15:59there. Scanners, most of them, and if
- 1:16:01they don't, most of them do have a little stretchy pad in the
- 1:16:06back so that you can put your hand through there and grasp if
- 1:16:10you have a large package that so it there are shoulder holsters
- 1:16:13that people make out there specifically for our scan.
- 1:16:17There are, there's belt holsters that everybody I think should
- 1:16:21have gotten one when the scanners came out.
- 1:16:23I personally don't use it because it's I don't have
- 1:16:27usually it. I don't care for them, but no,
- 1:16:30Yeah, I will put my I will flip that scanner to where the
- 1:16:33scanners on the back of my hand. And so then I have the whole,
- 1:16:37the the stretchy thing there, so that's where I can pick it up
- 1:16:42and carry it. Unless it's, you know, a couple
- 1:16:45bigger boxes. Sometimes I set the scanner
- 1:16:46right on top of the box and carry it up that way too, if I
- 1:16:49know it's not going to fall off. In the winter time I wear
- 1:16:52hoodies, so I will put the scanner in my hoodie pocket.
- 1:16:55But in the summertime, I usually have no pockets depending on
- 1:16:58what I'm wearing that day. And so yeah, it, you know, there
- 1:17:02is ways of doing that, but yes, scan it where you drop it
- 1:17:06because that's going to for more importantly that's your time for
- 1:17:09where you deliver that package and how it's accounted for time
- 1:17:12wise for your evaluation. And then those parts are that
- 1:17:16straight line measurement between your park point and your
- 1:17:19delivery point when you do your mapping.
- 1:17:21But also it covers your behind. It really, really does.
- 1:17:27And I, you know, I say that first hand because I've
- 1:17:29experienced that and I do. I use that in all my training
- 1:17:32with all my RCA scan it where you deliver it because it's
- 1:17:35going to cover your butt if that customer calls and says I never
- 1:17:38got my package. Well, did you look outside your
- 1:17:41front door? Did you look on your back porch?
- 1:17:43Did you look at your car in front of the garage?
- 1:17:46You know that can at least tell them where it was dropped off
- 1:17:51the. The the customer in question
- 1:17:53said you know isn't a parcel locker and and you know when I
- 1:17:57went back to the office I I had the supervisor run the numbers
- 1:18:01and it didn't say parcel locker said mailbox.
- 1:18:04So I I said the supervisor when you call me can you look at all
- 1:18:10the information first before you call me.
- 1:18:12I circled back to do that just to find out in the records it's
- 1:18:17showing in the mailbox again in App Management.
- 1:18:21There's this those little things I mean and when those some
- 1:18:24people are looking at their 4241 Ms. and they're seeing out of
- 1:18:28route drive and out of route walk.
- 1:18:33That is your park point and your delivery points And your that
- 1:18:37you set in your DPM that are not on the street next to a mailbox
- 1:18:43or on the street is you're driving those out of route
- 1:18:47distances and outer out walking is where you park your car,
- 1:18:52where you park your vehicle and where you deliver that package,
- 1:18:57that distance you walk or that time you walk between the
- 1:19:00vehicle and where you drop that package off.
- 1:19:02Well, we're at nine O 9 there, young lady, You want to wrap
- 1:19:05this up? We can do that, you guys.
- 1:19:07You got anything else? Guys, I'm a little long winded
- 1:19:10tonight. Sorry.
- 1:19:11I know I I've I've got plenty to say but you'd be editing 3 hours
- 1:19:15but. No, I think we're pretty much
- 1:19:20ready to wrap it up. Now, now we have to look forward
- 1:19:23to the the adjustment cuts, yes, and how that's gonna wrap.
- 1:19:28That's the next step of our misery.
- 1:19:32Yeah, and once we find out how that's going down, I'm sure we
- 1:19:36will pass that info on. I don't see any routes in my
- 1:19:39office getting cut, so I have no clue.
- 1:19:43No, no offices in my route will be cut.
- 1:19:45So we're good on that too. I've got at least three in my
- 1:19:49office that can be cut, but they're still under the
- 1:19:52evaluation, so according to the hearsay, they may not be cut
- 1:19:58first. Who knows?
- 1:20:00You can't judge what the hell they're going to, what the
- 1:20:03criteria is that they're going to be doing the cuts by.
- 1:20:07Like some people said, oh, I do a 63 hour route, but I do it
- 1:20:11under evaluation. I should be able to work it OK.
- 1:20:15I mean. Fine.
- 1:20:16You you want to give them six hours free a week?
- 1:20:20Fine, you go ahead and do it. Knock yourself out.
- 1:20:23But then don't come back and cry when you do get cut and and
- 1:20:26you're back to a 43 because you want a Saturday drop day.
- 1:20:30A Saturday drop day for me is a $14,000 pay cut.
- 1:20:34A Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Wow, that's nice because that's
- 1:20:37only an $8000 pay cut for me. And if you know I'm over
- 1:20:41burdened, I I can still get done under the evaluated hours.
- 1:20:45All right, guys. So we're going to wrap this up
- 1:20:46tonight so I can get some editing done and get this out
- 1:20:49for everybody. And James, your final comments
- 1:20:52for tonight, well. I know that some people got
- 1:20:54higher evaluations, but they still haven't returned to what
- 1:20:58they were, prereqs. I know some people stayed the
- 1:21:01same. I know some people lost, some
- 1:21:04people lost more than I did. But we have to go through these
- 1:21:08with a fine tooth comb because management's going to screw you
- 1:21:10over any which way they can. So you have to find it.
- 1:21:14You have to fight for it. And even if right now the
- 1:21:18situation is not going our way, there's an opportunity for that
- 1:21:23to change. It's coming up.
- 1:21:25National leadership is already running scared.
- 1:21:29National leadership is already nervous about what we're doing
- 1:21:33here on this podcast. They're listening to what we're
- 1:21:35saying on here, trying to take ideas from what we say and use
- 1:21:40them in their own campaign to keep their positions.
- 1:21:44We see it every video that they put out, they talk about the
- 1:21:48same things, they use the same words that we use on this
- 1:21:51podcast. So we are making a difference.
- 1:21:54The craft talking to us that we put through this podcast is
- 1:21:59making a difference in national leadership.
- 1:22:01A very small one, but it's happening.
- 1:22:04So remember, no matter what happens through all of this,
- 1:22:07we're all in this together. Bill.
- 1:22:10Well, the Segway off of Jane, a snowflake turns into a snowball.
- 1:22:15A snowball turns into an avalanche.
- 1:22:19What starts small can build, and that's what we're doing.
- 1:22:22We're building the avalanche to run over the National Rural
- 1:22:27Letter Carriers Association national Board.
- 1:22:30Not everybody on there, but the ones who are truly disconnected
- 1:22:35from the craft. And only you guys can make that
- 1:22:37happen for us, either by being delegates or selecting delegates
- 1:22:43to the National Convention who represent your views and your
- 1:22:46ideals, your concern. The National Rule Letter
- 1:22:50Carriers Association should educate, protect, promote the
- 1:22:56craft. It's a service position.
- 1:22:59It's not a pad to retirement position, which is what they've
- 1:23:03been doing. And if you haven't been out in a
- 1:23:05route, if you haven't gone out into the offices, if you you're
- 1:23:09so busy checking our podcast that you're not paying attention
- 1:23:14what's going on to the rest of the Facebook pages, then you're
- 1:23:17totally disconnected from what's going out on in the real world.
- 1:23:21And you need to get your heads out of your asses and wake up.
- 1:23:25Because one of these days you're going to find out that you have
- 1:23:29more non union carriers than union carriers.
- 1:23:33And then who's going to pay your $188,000 a year salary?
- 1:23:37Everybody bear with the system. Like James says, you know, check
- 1:23:42every line, every iota, every zero.
- 1:23:45Question everything. Challenge everything.
- 1:23:47Dispute everything that you possibly think of.
- 1:23:49Do it intelligently. Do it dispassionately.
- 1:23:53You have to remember the numbers will speak for themselves.
- 1:23:56It's going to be a rough month in April and there's going to be
- 1:24:01a lot of tears. And it's just just the way it
- 1:24:05is, folks. And and it won't improve until
- 1:24:08we change the leadership of National Rural Letter Carriers
- 1:24:12Association with that go out and be safe, your job, efficiently,
- 1:24:17professionally, do everything you're required to do and then
- 1:24:22get your asses home to your loved ones.
- 1:24:25Because at the end of the day, you're the most important
- 1:24:27delivery. And I mean that.
- 1:24:30Thank you guys. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:24:33You know I I've is what James pointed out too.
- 1:24:37And you know they spend a lot of time monitoring us, listening to
- 1:24:41us taking away our ideas and using them as them as their own.
- 1:24:47But those that do listen to us every week, just remember where
- 1:24:50you heard that first, where you heard those ideas, where you
- 1:24:53heard that stuff 1st and I'll just leave it at that.
- 1:24:58I'm not going to further go into details on that one but again
- 1:25:01guys I I think every single one of you.
- 1:25:04I I think to all the audience members that listen to us live,
- 1:25:08everybody that listened to us all week, our numbers and
- 1:25:11listeners are still growing almost daily.
- 1:25:14I have a big shout out and thank you to everybody that that that
- 1:25:19does listen, that does appreciate us.
- 1:25:22We get people that reach out to us every single day with
- 1:25:25questions, concerns, just looking for some advice and what
- 1:25:29to do, where to go, how to educate a new carrier or train a
- 1:25:34new RCA. There was one thing I was going
- 1:25:37to touch on tonight and I do apologize that we didn't get to
- 1:25:39that. We'll I'll try and do that again
- 1:25:41next week because I, as you all know I really have a a thing
- 1:25:47when it comes to educating the new RC as but yeah we're you
- 1:25:50know it's small strides but they're going they're getting
- 1:25:54there we're we're we're making a difference even if it's just a
- 1:25:57little bit at a time. And I do appreciate everybody we
- 1:26:01all do you can support us. We do have our merchandise there
- 1:26:06are some campaign T-shirts items up on there as well the link for
- 1:26:12that's in the show notes across all the platforms.
- 1:26:14So that note you guys have a safe week for those that didn't
- 1:26:18get their new evaluation Saturday.
- 1:26:22I I hope everybody is. I know not everybody's going to
- 1:26:25be happy with them come Monday. I understand that.
- 1:26:28Double check them if you got disputes, definitely filed those
- 1:26:31disputes. Remember each individual dispute
- 1:26:35has to have its own form and documentation and we'll I'll get
- 1:26:39the files up for y'all. If I don't do it tonight I'll
- 1:26:43try and do it with the next day or two and I know guys stay safe
- 1:26:47all week. Have a good one and we'll be
- 1:26:49back next week. And no, my F bombs are not
- 1:27:04alcohol related. Thank you very much.
