- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili mornings on demand on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 0:05Speaker 2: And it's Tuesday morning in the nation's capital 866-927-4361. How
- 0:12Speaker 2: you doing this morning? What's making you feel good today
- 0:15Speaker 2: before five? We're Toby and Chili in the morning at
- 0:19Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. Call us and tell us, Chili, why
- 0:21Speaker 2: are you feeling good today?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Well, I took the dog to the vet after the
- 0:24Speaker 3: show yesterday to get her checked. Because remember, she had
- 0:27Speaker 3: this recurring UTI situation. And it looks like the most
- 0:31Speaker 3: recent round of antibiotics did the trick. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed.
- 0:36Speaker 3: The culture will come back in a couple of days.
- 0:38Speaker 3: But so far, all signs point to success. Why are
- 0:41Speaker 3: you feeling good?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Well, I'm feeling good because your dog's feeling good. She's
- 0:45Speaker 2: acting cool. She's been acting great. She's normal. Okay, good. No,
- 0:49Speaker 2: I'm just feeling good, honestly, because I had fresh sheets
- 0:53Speaker 2: on the bed last night. And whenever I have fresh
- 0:55Speaker 2: sheets on the bed that I've changed for myself, it
- 0:58Speaker 2: just feels like I've accomplished something when I crawl into it.
- 1:01Speaker 2: You know, you ever notice that little thing? Now, sometimes
- 1:04Speaker 2: I like it better when I'm at a hotel and
- 1:06Speaker 2: I get to get into the bed and I get
- 1:08Speaker 2: to unmake all those sheets. There's just nothing quite like
- 1:11Speaker 2: that feeling. But if there was a feeling that comes close,
- 1:15Speaker 2: it's the fresh sheets on the bed, knowing that you
- 1:17Speaker 2: took the time to Get yourself situated. A little bit
- 1:21Speaker 2: of adulting before you wrap it up for the day.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It's a good thing. A good thing. So why are
- 1:26Speaker 2: you feeling good this morning? Hit us up. Let us know. Joy,
- 1:30Speaker 2: it's contagious. And we need more of it in this
- 1:33Speaker 2: world given everything that's going on. Speaking of which, top
- 1:37Speaker 2: stories at the top of the hour there, Chilly Amar.
- 1:40Speaker 2: What are you working on?
- 1:41Speaker 3: Oprah is going to be headlining a show at the
- 1:44Speaker 3: Las Vegas Sphere in the spring. I've got details on
- 1:49Speaker 3: that coming up in just a few minutes.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 1:55Speaker 3: The Supreme Court is blocking the president's attempt to restrict
- 1:59Speaker 3: mail-in voting. The justices declined to hear the administration's emergency request,
- 2:04Speaker 3: leaving in place a lower court ruling that found the
- 2:07Speaker 3: new restrictions likely unlawful. Senator Mitch McConnell returned to Capitol
- 2:12Speaker 3: Hill yesterday in a wheelchair. It was his first public
- 2:15Speaker 3: appearance since June. The 84-year-old was hospitalized three months ago
- 2:20Speaker 3: after falling at his D.C. home. An 18-year-old man died
- 2:24Speaker 3: Sunday night after fleeing a crash on the beltway in
- 2:27Speaker 3: Montgomery County. Police say that he ran from the scene,
- 2:31Speaker 3: then jumped a railing and fell about 50 feet onto
- 2:34Speaker 3: the road below. Manassas is canceling its upcoming First Friday
- 2:39Speaker 3: event after a shooting that killed a 16-year-old bystander. City
- 2:44Speaker 3: officials say they're going to review safety measures before deciding
- 2:47Speaker 3: how future events should operate. Police are still searching for
- 2:51Speaker 3: three men who are accused of stabbing a 16-year-old in Woodbridge.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Investigators say the teen was walking to a relative's home
- 2:59Speaker 3: on Saturday morning when the men assaulted and stabbed him
- 3:01Speaker 3: in the lower body and his hand. Fairfax County supervisors
- 3:06Speaker 3: say they're expected to vote today on restoring crossing guards
- 3:11Speaker 3: at 10 high schools. The guards were cut in budget
- 3:14Speaker 3: reductions and then temporarily reinstated after students were hit by cars.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And Oprah is headlining the Las Vegas sphere with a
- 3:23Speaker 3: new immersive music and art show called Aha that'll run
- 3:27Speaker 3: April 2nd to the 4th. Tickets start at $ 145 and
- 3:30Speaker 3: they'll go on sale September 25th. Forecast today, beautiful sunny skies.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Highs around 80. Right now, 55 in Reston.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And that is the news. Don't forget, you get your news.
- 3:44Speaker 2: And you stay informed with top stories at the top
- 3:46Speaker 2: of the hour. It's 97.1 on Washoe FM. Toby and
- 3:49Speaker 2: Chili in the morning. And next, we're going to talk
- 3:50Speaker 2: about you, your morning mindset. If you need a quick pick-me-up,
- 3:54Speaker 2: it's kind of like an emotional shot of espresso this
- 3:58Speaker 2: early morning. We've got you covered coming up. Time now
- 4:02Speaker 2: for your morning mindset with us. Toby and Chili in
- 4:04Speaker 2: the morning at 97.1 Wash FM.
- 4:07Speaker 3: So which quote are you sharing to get us in
- 4:09Speaker 3: a good headspace this morning?
- 4:11Speaker 5: E.E.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Cummings. I know you might be going E.E. Cummings. Yes, E.E. Cummings.
- 4:17Speaker 2: The most wasted of days is one without laughter. Think
- 4:21Speaker 2: about it. Your to-do list will regenerate itself overnight like
- 4:27Speaker 2: some kind of household fungus, right? When you laugh a
- 4:31Speaker 2: little bit, you make some room today for something so
- 4:35Speaker 2: unnecessary that it makes you laugh out loud. So laugh.
- 4:41Speaker 2: The most wasted of days is one without laughter. E.E. Cummings,
- 4:46Speaker 2: go ahead. See what laughing will do. Find a way
- 4:51Speaker 2: to have a little bit of fun while you do
- 4:52Speaker 2: everything you do because it can be stressful enough, right?
- 4:57Speaker 2: Hopefully that helps. And if it did, share it with
- 5:00Speaker 2: somebody who might need it. You'll find it. Get us
- 5:02Speaker 2: on our socials or you can search the Toby and
- 5:05Speaker 2: Tilly page at watchfm.com or just drop us a note.
- 5:08Speaker 2: We'll send it your way. Anyway, coming up with Toby
- 5:11Speaker 2: and Chilling in the Morning on this Tuesday.
- 5:13Speaker 3: When you see a spider in your house, do you
- 5:15Speaker 3: kill it or do you set it free outside? Apparently,
- 5:20Speaker 3: setting it free is the worst thing you can do.
- 5:23Speaker 3: And you'll find out why.
- 5:25Speaker 2: This morning on National Geographic, we will talk about the
- 5:28Speaker 2: noble arachnid. 97.1 Wash FM. We're Toby and Chili in
- 5:32Speaker 2: the morning. What is it with these spiders, Chili?
- 5:34Speaker 3: If you're the type of person who spares the life
- 5:36Speaker 3: of a house spider and just decides to set it
- 5:38Speaker 3: free outside, you probably don't realize that the quote-unquote act
- 5:41Speaker 3: of kindness is actually pretty cruel.
- 5:43Speaker 2: First of all, the spider lived for you to even
- 5:45Speaker 2: set it free outside. How would it be cruel to
- 5:48Speaker 2: put that spider out there amongst the elements where it belongs?
- 5:51Speaker 3: Experts say a lot of the spiders that we find
- 5:54Speaker 3: in our homes have actually adapted to living indoors and
- 5:56Speaker 3: may not survive if they're released outside. So here's the suggestion.
- 6:01Speaker 3: And this is where I get a little. Are you
- 6:04Speaker 3: kidding me? Researchers say that the spiders are generally harmless.
- 6:08Speaker 3: and really help control pests by feeding on the flies, mosquitoes,
- 6:12Speaker 3: and moths. So if you don't want it in your
- 6:14Speaker 3: living space, just move it to the garage or maybe
- 6:17Speaker 3: your basement or another quiet corner of the house instead
- 6:21Speaker 3: of taking it outside.
- 6:23Speaker 2: That does not compute.
- 6:25Speaker 5: It doesn't.
- 6:25Speaker 2: No. These freeloading arachnids expect to live rent free and
- 6:29Speaker 2: wherever my garage, perhaps maybe my living room in some
- 6:33Speaker 2: corner of the ceiling. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So you'll either put it out of its midst. I
- 6:39Speaker 2: take the broom to it and it's gone. I'm not
- 6:41Speaker 2: concerned about whether or not it makes it. I'm not
- 6:44Speaker 2: concerned about whether or not those little weird looking webs
- 6:47Speaker 2: or eggs.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I just want them gone.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I want them gone too. And my eyes. My son,
- 6:51Speaker 3: who is really into insects, will create habitats for these things,
- 6:56Speaker 3: and they end up dying in the habitat anyway. So
- 6:58Speaker 3: I keep explaining to him, you're not doing the spider
- 7:00Speaker 3: any favors by creating a little house for.
- 7:03Speaker 5: It, okay?
- 7:03Speaker 2: That's right. I mean, I get that the spider was freeloading,
- 7:06Speaker 2: living rent-free on your dime, right? But here you are
- 7:10Speaker 2: committing arachnid genocide by putting that poor spider in a
- 7:15Speaker 2: habitat you made. You probably didn't even feed him the
- 7:17Speaker 2: right food. So this entire thing is moot. Moot, I
- 7:21Speaker 2: tell you.
- 7:21Speaker 3: And now you know.
- 7:22Speaker 2: That's right.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Either let the spider live in a quiet corner of
- 7:25Speaker 3: your home.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Or give it some raid to drink. Oh, my God.
- 7:29Speaker 5: What?
- 7:30Speaker 2: We're totally in Chile in the morning. It's 97.1. Watch
- 7:34Speaker 2: FM again. No time for no recknance. But I do
- 7:37Speaker 2: have time for the news coming up 610. What are
- 7:40Speaker 2: you working on with top stories to stop the hour?
- 7:42Speaker 3: A new study reveals just how exhausted Americans are. Grab
- 7:47Speaker 3: that coffee. I've got all the details on the way.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Friday night, Saturday night, it's here. Presented by Capital One,
- 7:54Speaker 2: our iHeartRadio music festival is back, and you can watch
- 7:58Speaker 2: it from the comfort of your own living room.
- 8:00Speaker 3: On Disney Plus and Hulu, or you can also listen
- 8:03Speaker 3: to it on the iHeartRadio app.
- 8:05Speaker 2: All the artists, all the superstars, Goo Goo Dolls. If
- 8:09Speaker 2: you want to know more about it, get to washfm.com
- 8:12Speaker 2: slash festival.
- 8:12Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH-FM, Washington. An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on Top Stories,
- 8:20Speaker 1: top of the hour.
- 8:21Speaker 3: The president is defending the AI industry amid growing concerns
- 8:26Speaker 3: about its risks. We've got the latest on that story
- 8:29Speaker 3: and others on the way. With Toby and Chili in
- 8:32Speaker 3: the morning on 97.1 WASH-FM.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 8:40Speaker 3: The Supreme Court has rejected the president's plan to restrict
- 8:44Speaker 3: mail-in voting in this year's midterm elections. The justices declined
- 8:48Speaker 3: to let the administration impose new limits on how states
- 8:51Speaker 3: conduct mail-in voting. The president is defending the AI industry
- 8:56Speaker 3: amid growing concerns about its risks. He says the only
- 9:00Speaker 3: guardrail AI needs is a strong president and calls criticism
- 9:04Speaker 3: of AI and data centers a, quote, sick conspiracy that
- 9:08Speaker 3: benefits China. The Kennedy Center board is reportedly considering new
- 9:13Speaker 3: options for adding the president's name to the building. One
- 9:16Speaker 3: proposal would put his name in marble beneath the Kennedy
- 9:19Speaker 3: Center sign, crediting him with overseeing renovations. and helping rescue
- 9:24Speaker 3: the center financially. The board is also considering a proposal
- 9:28Speaker 3: to shut down the building. D.C. is stepping up its
- 9:32Speaker 3: fight against the city's rat problem. New measures include smart
- 9:37Speaker 3: trash cans, secured compost bins, and also a pilot program
- 9:42Speaker 3: using rodent birth control. Montgomery County has completed a pedestrian
- 9:48Speaker 3: safety project in Wheaton. The improvements include new sidewalks, safer crossings,
- 9:54Speaker 3: and also upgraded signals, making it easier and safer for
- 9:57Speaker 3: people to get around the area. And a new CDC
- 10:00Speaker 3: report finds that more than 70% of U.S. adults have
- 10:04Speaker 3: felt fatigue on multiple days in the past three months.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Women and younger adults are more likely to report it.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And researchers say fatigue isn't just being tired. It can
- 10:15Speaker 3: persist even after sleep or rest. forecast today beautiful day
- 10:20Speaker 3: to get outside sunny skies highs around 80 right now
- 10:23Speaker 3: 55 in alexandria.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And that is the news toby and chili in the
- 10:28Speaker 2: morning you get top stories at the top of the
- 10:30Speaker 2: hour so you're still eating your partner ready for the
- 10:34Speaker 2: check dinner together shouldn't feel like a timed events should
- 10:38Speaker 2: it no so who's the speed eater in your relationship
- 10:42Speaker 2: and why does this matter you'll find out so be
- 10:46Speaker 2: in chile in the morning it's 97.1 wash fm where
- 10:49Speaker 2: you get washington's variety from the 80s 90s and today
- 10:52Speaker 2: the number is 866-927-4361 use it whenever have you ever
- 10:57Speaker 2: gone out to dinner with somebody you love and in
- 10:59Speaker 2: just about five minutes they're done and now you feel
- 11:02Speaker 2: like you're eating under supervision You're enjoying your food. They're
- 11:07Speaker 2: looking at your plate like, you're going to go ahead
- 11:09Speaker 2: and eat that? I guess this is a thing with couples,
- 11:12Speaker 2: the eating speed gap. And the tension comes from making
- 11:16Speaker 2: one feel rushed. Chili, let's break it down.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Well, the good news is different eating speeds, it doesn't
- 11:22Speaker 3: necessarily mean you're incompatible. It's only an issue if the
- 11:25Speaker 3: other person is uncomfortable. upset with your pace whether you're
- 11:30Speaker 3: the faster eater or the slower eater one person may
- 11:35Speaker 3: see it as a time to connect so if you're
- 11:37Speaker 3: sitting there scarfing down your food there's not much conversation
- 11:41Speaker 3: going on is.
- 11:42Speaker 2: There well that's that's true i mean but that's also
- 11:45Speaker 2: an unspoken sign that maybe you're like not happy with
- 11:48Speaker 2: me or poopy pants you know i'm just curious who
- 11:52Speaker 2: finishes the food first at your house.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I think he and I, my husband and I are
- 11:55Speaker 3: pretty compatible with speed. We don't rush through meals or
- 11:59Speaker 3: one person doesn't usually finish that far in advance. If
- 12:03Speaker 3: it was the case, it would bother me more if
- 12:05Speaker 3: we were at a restaurant than in our home, because
- 12:08Speaker 3: in a restaurant, tendency is that they'll come and clear
- 12:11Speaker 3: the plate of the person who's already finished.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 3: And I'm just still sitting there with my plate. I
- 12:15Speaker 3: don't like that kind of pressure.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I think restaurant professionals, they have ways of letting you
- 12:22Speaker 2: know that they want you to move on so they
- 12:25Speaker 2: can turn the table for someone else. I'm the guy
- 12:27Speaker 2: who sits back and takes his time. I kind of
- 12:30Speaker 2: have to because if I get too full too fast,
- 12:33Speaker 2: it's no bueno. You know, so I'm sure that I've
- 12:36Speaker 2: probably caused some people to be like, hey, move along.
- 12:39Speaker 2: You want to hurry up with that?
- 12:41Speaker 3: I think my pace is normal, whatever you want to
- 12:44Speaker 3: refer to that as.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Just order tapas and call it a day. So where
- 12:47Speaker 2: do you stand with your partner in your relationship? And
- 12:51Speaker 2: if you've never thought of it before, observe next time
- 12:54Speaker 2: you're out with someone you love and see what's going on.
- 12:58Speaker 2: It's 97.1 Wash FM. We're Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It's creepy, Chili. It's creepy. It'll probably sell a whole
- 13:06Speaker 2: bunch of units. But nonetheless, people are a little creeped
- 13:10Speaker 2: out by some technology revealed last week. It's the Apple Watch.
- 13:14Speaker 2: And if you haven't heard why people are creeped out,
- 13:16Speaker 2: you will. In case you missed it last week, Apple
- 13:19Speaker 2: launched a bunch of new products. One of those products
- 13:22Speaker 2: and one of those features on one of those products
- 13:24Speaker 2: that comes out a little bit later on this week
- 13:26Speaker 2: has people all creeped out.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Why?
- 13:29Speaker 2: We're Toby and Chili in the morning at 97.1 Wash FM.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Repeat after me.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Privacy.
- 13:36Speaker 3: The Series 12 audio intelligence basically uses a built-in microphone
- 13:40Speaker 3: on the watch to catch conversations that you might have missed.
- 13:43Speaker 3: So you just double tap the crown and then live
- 13:46Speaker 3: rewind plays back at least the last 15 seconds as
- 13:49Speaker 3: a text. And then Siri recap will summarize what was
- 13:53Speaker 3: said for later on. By the way, the person who
- 13:56Speaker 3: you're having a conversation with will hear a chime.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 13:59Speaker 3: When the individual starts to record part of that conversation.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Kind of like Teams conversations.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you'll be alerted to it.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Portions of this are being recorded.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I think it's also important that Apple says no audio
- 14:08Speaker 3: is saved.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Well, you know, it still comes down to privacy. Because
- 14:14Speaker 2: people don't like being recorded when they don't know that
- 14:17Speaker 2: they're being recorded. And people want to have the ability
- 14:20Speaker 2: to say yes or no to it.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yeah, but if you hear the chime, you know you're
- 14:23Speaker 3: being recorded.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Well, I know you hear the chime in a conversation.
- 14:28Speaker 2: where you think you're talking off record to somebody, and
- 14:31Speaker 2: then all of a sudden that chime comes up, that
- 14:33Speaker 2: makes things a little odd, you know? And privacy rights
- 14:36Speaker 2: activists are all up in arms about it. And normal
- 14:39Speaker 2: people are probably like, hmm. Now, I could see how
- 14:42Speaker 2: this could be very helpful, especially when it comes to
- 14:45Speaker 2: conversations that are involved or animated.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Or sometimes somebody mumbles when they speak, and you don't
- 14:51Speaker 3: want to have them repeat themselves over and over again.
- 14:53Speaker 3: So you just kind of Have that thing recorded so
- 14:55Speaker 3: that you can play it back and go, oh, that's
- 14:57Speaker 3: what he was saying. Got it, you know? Right.
- 14:59Speaker 2: So do you find this to bother you?
- 15:02Speaker 3: As long as I'm alerted that it's happening, I don't
- 15:04Speaker 3: really care. It's the sneaky way of doing it that
- 15:07Speaker 3: would bother me more. And by the way, it's $ 500.
- 15:09Speaker 3: And that is not the kind of money I would
- 15:11Speaker 3: spend on a watch.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Well, you know.
- 15:14Speaker 3: There's that.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I like my Apple Watch for a lot of different things,
- 15:17Speaker 2: but not necessarily for recording conversations. Because then you have
- 15:21Speaker 2: to remember to engage it and it's easy to turn off.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Then you have to turn it back on. That's too
- 15:26Speaker 2: many steps for me. So I would rather just not
- 15:29Speaker 2: have it than to have a little bit of it
- 15:31Speaker 2: and try to figure out when and how and where
- 15:34Speaker 2: I could use it. But who am I to outthink Apple?
- 15:38Speaker 2: They've got lots of money and they research everything. So
- 15:41Speaker 2: if this is a hit, we'll know in just a
- 15:43Speaker 2: few days. And if not, well, the feature will probably
- 15:46Speaker 2: go buh-bye sooner rather than later. Toby and Chili in
- 15:50Speaker 2: the morning. If you want to read more about this,
- 15:52Speaker 2: we've got you on the Toby and Chili page at washfm.com.

- 15:58Speaker 2: of the hour right around 7, 10 this morning. Chili,

- 16:06Speaker 3: find out what a new survey has found.
- 16:09Speaker 2: This is one of those shows you've just got to
- 16:11Speaker 2: go seeing. Well, judging by the fact that it's sold
- 16:14Speaker 2: out in minutes as soon as tickets went on sale,
- 16:17Speaker 2: I would say Stevie Wonder might be a thing. We're
- 16:21Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning. It's 97.1 Wash FM
- 16:24Speaker 2: and we got tickets for you.
- 16:25Speaker 3: He'll be at Capital One Arena November 23rd. Just listen
- 16:28Speaker 3: right around 710 after Toby and Chili's top stories for
- 16:31Speaker 3: the nearly impossible question. And if you get it right,
- 16:35Speaker 3: you win.
- 16:35Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH-FM, Washington. An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on Top Stories,
- 16:43Speaker 1: top of the hour.
- 16:44Speaker 3: The Supreme Court is blocking the president's attempt to restrict
- 16:48Speaker 3: mail-in voting. We've got the latest on that story and
- 16:52Speaker 3: others on the way. With Toby and Chili in the
- 16:54Speaker 3: morning on 97.1 WASH-FM.

- 22:43Speaker 3: I would go with the Julia Roberts character's dress, Vivian's dress,
- 22:47Speaker 3: the red one from Pretty Woman.
- 22:50Speaker 2: That's an iconic dress. It really is. She's very beautiful

- 23:45Speaker 2: Even though I've never ridden a motorcycle, I'd like to
- 23:47Speaker 2: just go riding around and see what people said.
- 23:48Speaker 3: So you're wearing the purple jacket to Harris Teeter?
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, all over with that big white thing in front
