- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. So I am up very early because I
- 0:33am actually leaving today and driving to Atlanta to go and
- 0:38speak at one of my clients events.
- 0:40And I'm super excited about this because for me, being able to do
- 0:45something like this and and actually get to meet people who
- 0:49are my clients. Because often I have many
- 0:51clients that I don't get to meet in person because we're all over
- 0:54the world. But this one actually affords me
- 0:58to be able to meet two of my clients, clients who are going
- 1:01to be there. One is hosting it, the other one
- 1:03is speaking as well. And it's going to be a very
- 1:07exciting event. So I am off to go drive and
- 1:11getting out there early. So I it's quite a long drive for
- 1:14me, but that's OK. I'm super excited about doing
- 1:17it. Now, the point of me bringing
- 1:19all this up is to let you know that in your schedule, as much
- 1:23as you love certainty, because I mean, I love certainty and as
- 1:28much as I love to do the same things, having these variations
- 1:31and being able to do things like this is absolutely wonderful.
- 1:36And it makes us, I, in my opinion, it really does make us
- 1:41become better people when we push ourselves to do things like
- 1:44this. So to go and leave and speak and
- 1:47do all this, it definitely pushes us.
- 1:49There's no question about the fact that it pushes me to do
- 1:52this, but I'm excited to do it. I'm thrilled to do it.
- 1:56And is, is it exhilarating? Is it scary?
- 1:59Sure, it can be all of those things, but guess what?
- 2:02It's so worth it to go and do something like this and to help
- 2:05out people and to, to be part of something.
- 2:09So what are you scared to go do? Because I this used to terrify
- 2:13me. This used to be something that I
- 2:14would be like, there's no way I'm doing something like this,
- 2:17let alone traveling, let alone this.
- 2:19There was a point in my life where I hated to do it all, and
- 2:22now I welcome it. So how is that possible?
- 2:26And people will always say, I can't imagine that that's how
- 2:29you were, but that that is how I was.
- 2:31So the question is, what do you have in your life that is that
- 2:37that scares you that but you might want to do it.
- 2:40You wish you could do it, but it holds you back.
- 2:43And what's the reason that you think you're buying into the
- 2:46story that you're telling yourself to hold yourself back
- 2:48as opposed to pushing yourself? It's really, it's really
- 2:52understanding the story. It's getting in there and
- 2:54figuring out what is the story? And is the story reasonable?
- 2:58And do you want to keep it that way or do you want to change it?
- 3:01Do you want to change the story? I wanted to change my story.
- 3:04I wanted to do something different.
- 3:06So therefore I worked really hard at telling myself, OK, this
- 3:11is not the story I want. I want this story.
- 3:13And that's the story I'm going to believe and choose to
- 3:16believe. And you know what?
- 3:18It works. When you start to shift your
- 3:20story, you start to tell yourself something different.
- 3:23You start to believe something different.
- 3:24Before that point, you're going to start to go, oh, I don't know
- 3:28if I can do it. But after that point of changing
- 3:30that story and reminding yourself, I'm not keeping that
- 3:34story, that's not the story I want to tell, all of a sudden it
- 3:39changes. So it takes work and hard work
- 3:43to do that. But guess what?
- 3:45It is so sweet when it does. So I'm going to challenge you
- 3:49today to figure out what is that story?
- 3:51What is it that you want to tell instead of the one that's
- 3:54holding you back? And start writing it down.
- 3:57Put it on a piece of paper. Actually sit and write it out so
- 4:00that you know, this is my old story and then this is what I
- 4:04want to change. And then now I have a new story
- 4:07and write it on a piece of paper.
- 4:09Because when you do that, it starts to give you a different
- 4:12association to it, starts to make you feel different about
- 4:15it. And then I promise you,
- 4:17everything's going to change from that point forward.
- 4:19It will 100% start to shift. Now, will it be overnight?
- 4:24Sometimes it is, but a lot of times you have to keep working
- 4:26on it. You have to keep rereading the
- 4:28story, rewriting the story, making it better.
- 4:31Mine didn't take that long once I started telling myself a
- 4:35different story. And and that goes all the way
- 4:37back to having anxiety and everything else.
- 4:39But I'll tell you it, once I decided I wanted to write and
- 4:44speak and do all those things, it didn't take a lot of time.
- 4:48It just took a lot of effort of changing the story.
- 4:51So go to work, my friends, because it's worth it.
- 4:55All right? I hope you all have a blessed
- 4:56day and I will see you all tomorrow from the big city of
- 5:00Atlanta. Bye.
