- 0:00Speaker 1: Bulet cav show special guests a legend, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Mac one Ozh for show. Mac Tanner is in the building, Man,
- 0:07Speaker 1: what's up with how you doing? I'm such a big
- 0:10Speaker 1: fan of yours that I own Thicker than Water on VHS.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You has seen a couple of them in the garage
- 0:17Speaker 1: on VHS. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I always tell people, I'm like,
- 0:21Speaker 1: y'all understand, like when you had like who Banging Records
- 0:25Speaker 1: like c Mac and you were dropping movies and shit,
- 0:27Speaker 1: like I felt like you were kind of doing this
- 0:29Speaker 1: like real independent West Coast it before everybody, like kind
- 0:33Speaker 1: of like, you know, obviously you were doing your thing
- 0:35Speaker 1: on the major level, but you also had like who
- 0:38Speaker 1: Banging Records was going. I remember every damn Source magazine
- 0:40Speaker 1: and Double XL y'all had the full ads and everything. Man,
- 0:44Speaker 1: That's how you had to do it. Then, you know
- 0:45Speaker 1: what I'm saying? So shit, you know when when when
- 0:48Speaker 1: I play, I'm gonna play? Yeah, So you know I
- 0:50Speaker 1: wouldn't you know, cutting no corners or nothing. We was
- 0:54Speaker 1: trying to get to it. Yes, sir, What have you
- 0:56Speaker 1: been up too lately? Man? I feel like you've obviously
- 0:57Speaker 1: kind of taking a step back. You got the new
- 0:59Speaker 1: single album. You kind of have been you know, I
- 1:00Speaker 1: feel like you've been kind of away from music for
- 1:03Speaker 1: a while. I have, uh the artist side of it,
- 1:08Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But I've been really involved
- 1:11Speaker 1: with you know, as being like a concert promoter. You
- 1:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I heard that. Yeah, since like
- 1:17Speaker 1: twenty ten or eleven like that, been like my bread
- 1:20Speaker 1: and butter, Like I do a couple of hundred shows
- 1:22Speaker 1: a year, wow that I promote. So you know, I've
- 1:26Speaker 1: been in the music business. But I just making Yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, I've been putting shows on man,
- 1:31Speaker 1: you know what, like because obviously from an artist's perspective,
- 1:35Speaker 1: you see you be like, damn, Okay, I got paid
- 1:37Speaker 1: this much, but the show sold out, so the promoter
- 1:39Speaker 1: made this much. So what made you kind of get
- 1:42Speaker 1: into the promoter game? Shit? I done have nights where
- 1:45Speaker 1: I had four and five shows going in one night
- 1:48Speaker 1: in different states just as a promoter. Just as a promoter,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I might have had Keith sweating, uh Kansas City or something. Right,
- 1:58Speaker 1: you know, somebody else's somewhere and somebody else somewhere and
- 2:02Speaker 1: somewhere and I might have been doing crush groove or something,
- 2:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It's just I Dodn't it
- 2:09Speaker 1: have been situations like that where I really had like
- 2:12Speaker 1: four or five shows going in one night, damn dude. Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: The promoter game is do you feel like, because I
- 2:17Speaker 1: do feel like there's kind of probably a saturated market
- 2:23Speaker 1: in people trying to throw shows, do you feel like
- 2:25Speaker 1: you found like a niche and the type of artists
- 2:26Speaker 1: and type of shit you're doing well. The thing is
- 2:30Speaker 1: is that anybody could try to do it, but you
- 2:34Speaker 1: gotta get good at it in order for it to
- 2:37Speaker 1: be you know, and you gotta be willing you you
- 2:40Speaker 1: gotta have enough to lose. Yep. It's like going like
- 2:44Speaker 1: if you stand at the craft table, you shouldn't be
- 2:46Speaker 1: standing there with nothing that you you care if you
- 2:48Speaker 1: lose it straight up you feel me so so like
- 2:51Speaker 1: that's the same thing with this. You know it's a gamble,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but but like you know, as you as you get
- 2:57Speaker 1: good at it, you learn like what's a smart bet?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Was not a smart bed? You know what I'm saying.
- 3:01Speaker 1: But you got to be able to like, uh, you know,
- 3:04Speaker 1: with Stan losing you you got to be able to
- 3:07Speaker 1: deal with that because that's a part of the game.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So are you this tour that you just announced, Uh,
- 3:11Speaker 1: it's you. I saw a man in perezz on. A
- 3:13Speaker 1: lot of people think dog Pounds on the tour, dog Pound,
- 3:15Speaker 1: Warney Quick, Yeah, sugar Free, that's your tour. That are you?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Like you're the promoter as well? Yeah, doubling up? Why not?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Why not? Man? Why not? Yo? I just got to say, dude, like, uh,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you're like, there's not a lot of people I'll call legend,
- 3:29Speaker 1: but I do feel like you are one of the
- 3:32Speaker 1: greatest to ever come out of the West Coast. Wow.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I appreciate that bang or Ball is low key, You're
- 3:40Speaker 1: most slept on album. That was a high record, yo.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That dude, that dude the damn day Yeah, man, that.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I just feel like you have so much catalog. I
- 3:50Speaker 1: like today I was like riding around like, God, damn man,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I forgot about hating your eyes and there's so much
- 3:55Speaker 1: shit for you. Do you feel like because you're kind
- 3:59Speaker 1: of like behind the scenes now, you're not as visible
- 4:01Speaker 1: as maybe some of your peers when we think of
- 4:03Speaker 1: West Coast legends these days, do you feel like you
- 4:05Speaker 1: get the love and respect you you deserve and when
- 4:09Speaker 1: we talk about that, yeah, but most of all, I
- 4:12Speaker 1: feel like I get the money. That's all that matters,
- 4:14Speaker 1: you feel me. That's the kind of guy. Yep, they
- 4:18Speaker 1: could have all that other shit, give me the bag.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I respect that. I don't give a fuck about famous
- 4:23Speaker 1: and none of that. You care about the bag. That's
- 4:25Speaker 1: some real shit, you know, that's some real shit. So
- 4:28Speaker 1: so like, if I cared about famous, it would have
- 4:31Speaker 1: took me fourteen years to do another record, right, It's
- 4:34Speaker 1: been that long, Yeah, two thousand and nine. That was
- 4:36Speaker 1: the last time you put out music. Yeah, I put
- 4:38Speaker 1: an album all yeah, Jesus. So if I cared about
- 4:41Speaker 1: famous and with this internet shit and everything, how it is,
- 4:44Speaker 1: you know, I would have been in front of the camera. Yeah.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But I've been getting to the bag, so you know
- 4:49Speaker 1: that's that's you know, I feel good about that. You
- 4:51Speaker 1: were the first guy I ever heard talk about Inglewood
- 4:53Speaker 1: on records. And now obviously Inglewood is blown up. A
- 4:56Speaker 1: lot of people are saying has become gentrified, SOFI stadiums
- 4:59Speaker 1: over there. How do you feel about Inglewood these days? Man?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Because it is kind of the it's city now in
- 5:06Speaker 1: La been to. It's city for me my whole life,
- 5:08Speaker 1: of course, you know, but that's for like everybody. The
- 5:10Speaker 1: Clippers are gonna play there. I mean, you know, we
- 5:13Speaker 1: we welcome everybody with open arms. It's all good. You know.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I love Inglewood, man, Yeah, you know that's that's that's
- 5:18Speaker 1: that's always home at the end of the day. There's
- 5:21Speaker 1: a dope obviously a lot of dope artists coming out
- 5:23Speaker 1: of Inglewood. Are you hit to like guys like Roucci
- 5:25Speaker 1: and like that kind of yeah, yeah, oh yeah. And
- 5:28Speaker 1: I love to see Little Roccie in them getting theirs,
- 5:30Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like, like I'm I'm a
- 5:32Speaker 1: real like fan the of the youngsters, you know, because
- 5:36Speaker 1: everybody had a time yep. And you know I've been blessed. Man,
- 5:39Speaker 1: God has been good to me in this game. So like,
- 5:42Speaker 1: I ain't the kind of guy that like not want
- 5:45Speaker 1: everybody to win. You know what I'm saying, You a
- 5:47Speaker 1: sucker if you don't want everybody to win. That's hater
- 5:49Speaker 1: type shit. It's real shit, man, you feel me so
- 5:52Speaker 1: so like it's enough money for everybody printed every day.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That's some real shit. Uh. You know, I think back
- 5:58Speaker 1: to like some of your catalog, You've been a part
- 6:01Speaker 1: of so many dope projects obviously, uh, man, the recipe.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I mean, I've the West Coast, the West Side Connection. Shit.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Like when you think back of your catalog, what's your
- 6:11Speaker 1: favorite mac ten album that you've got part of? Man,
- 6:17Speaker 1: they all like feel different because I was at different
- 6:20Speaker 1: times in my life, you know, with them. But like,
- 6:23Speaker 1: let me see, uh, based on the true story. One
- 6:28Speaker 1: of my one of my favorite records, Banga Ball is
- 6:31Speaker 1: one of my favorite records because I went about it different.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I had never made a record like that. I made
- 6:38Speaker 1: bang a Ball in two weeks, two weeks, two weeks
- 6:42Speaker 1: from start to finish. Literally wow, literally hating your eyes,
- 6:47Speaker 1: pud By dre Right, Yeah, doctor Drake did that. Yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 1: so you just got a dre bat like in the
- 6:52Speaker 1: two week process. He just sent a pack over and
- 6:54Speaker 1: that was one of them. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, Well
- 6:56Speaker 1: I actually went it said with him. He played me
- 6:58Speaker 1: some stuff and I like that when he said, all right,
- 7:00Speaker 1: this one you if you want it, you can get it.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So you know what I'm saying. And then I flew
- 7:03Speaker 1: I did it, and then I flew back to Houston
- 7:05Speaker 1: to finish my album because I was working with Many Fresh.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. So Fresh work like that,
- 7:10Speaker 1: like Do the Damn Thing was a freestyle. I didn't
- 7:12Speaker 1: even write that because he wouldn't let me write it.
- 7:14Speaker 1: He was like this, going there, you listen to the
- 7:17Speaker 1: rhyme pattern and everything. He was like, just going there
- 7:19Speaker 1: and you a pro just going there and just rhyme.
- 7:23Speaker 1: That kind of makes six. I do the Damn Thing.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I let my nuts hang. Yeah, it was a straight
- 7:28Speaker 1: free style. He said, I don't want it if you
- 7:29Speaker 1: write it like just going there and just whatever you say,
- 7:33Speaker 1: just just make the next word rhyme if you can.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. He said, I'm telling you
- 7:37Speaker 1: it's gonna come out hard like that. Just do it
- 7:39Speaker 1: like that. So, you know, Many Fresh one of the
- 7:41Speaker 1: best ever. So I listened to him and I did it,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and Do the Damn Thing is one of them records.
- 7:46Speaker 1: That was a good one. Me and my small group
- 7:48Speaker 1: of friends in Phoenix had an actual funny dance we
- 7:51Speaker 1: would do when that song came on that we still like,
- 7:53Speaker 1: if I play that song right now. My best friend
- 7:55Speaker 1: Ram was here. He would do it. What was like,
- 7:59Speaker 1: first of all, talk about like how you ended up
- 8:01Speaker 1: on Cash Money for that one project. It was just
- 8:05Speaker 1: a situation, man, I mean, you know, Priority was uh,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you know, making some some changes at the time, and
- 8:11Speaker 1: me and Stunner was already homies, and so it really
- 8:14Speaker 1: was just a move. It was just a play, you
- 8:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. It was just a move like
- 8:17Speaker 1: like that was already my homeboy. And so when I
- 8:21Speaker 1: had to, I had a choice either sign a new
- 8:24Speaker 1: deal with Priority or sign this deal. You know, I
- 8:31Speaker 1: just wanted to try something different. And Cash Money is
- 8:33Speaker 1: like the hottest label in the world at the moment. Yeah,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and like yeah, yeah, but but but most of all
- 8:39Speaker 1: them dudes was like solid dudes with me, you know
- 8:41Speaker 1: what I'm saying. We clicked as people. They was you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I would go to New Orleans and it was all
- 8:46Speaker 1: open arms, like we was family, you know what I'm saying,
- 8:49Speaker 1: and vice versa. When they was out here, it was
- 8:50Speaker 1: like that. So this was something man, that we was
- 8:53Speaker 1: really trying. I just wanted to like do something different.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I had been putting. I had put a lot of
- 8:57Speaker 1: records out on Priority already. Yeah, you know, so you know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: when the when, when the opportunity came and that bag
- 9:03Speaker 1: was silly. For that one record, I had to do it. Yeah,
- 9:06Speaker 1: what was it? What was that creative process like working
- 9:08Speaker 1: with a guy like Manny Fresh, because you've been in
- 9:10Speaker 1: obviously in the studio with so many other legends like
- 9:12Speaker 1: Doctor Dramon. Yeah, what was the difference between the Manny
- 9:15Speaker 1: Fresh and some of the other guys. Fresh is like,
- 9:19Speaker 1: like I said, he the first one to get me
- 9:21Speaker 1: to just go in there and just rap, just don't
- 9:24Speaker 1: write nothing, just going there and just say it, you
- 9:26Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And Fresh work faster than anybody
- 9:29Speaker 1: I've ever seen. He had cooked the beat up right
- 9:31Speaker 1: in front of you, like in a few minutes, and
- 9:34Speaker 1: it's a hit, it's connected for life, it's do the
- 9:37Speaker 1: damn thing is whatever. But he cook it up right
- 9:39Speaker 1: there like quick, like right in front of you, you
- 9:42Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So, you know, Fresh one of
- 9:46Speaker 1: the best ever man for real for sure, you know,
- 9:48Speaker 1: Like I remember at one point Fresh had missed platinum
- 9:51Speaker 1: in a couple of it was some years had went
- 9:53Speaker 1: by and everything was platinum. You know that's crazy. Yeah, No,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I think I think Fresh when we think, when we
- 10:01Speaker 1: always talk about the goats I feel like we got
- 10:03Speaker 1: to keep his name in that conversation because he kind
- 10:05Speaker 1: of formed the whole sound kicked off Wayne Juvie, every human.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's crazy, Yo. You have always been really good at expanding,
- 10:14Speaker 1: like the West Coast shit to like other areas we
- 10:17Speaker 1: talk about obviously the cash money situation. You had a
- 10:19Speaker 1: great relationship with Fat Joe back in the day. What
- 10:23Speaker 1: do you like a tribute to that? Because I do
- 10:24Speaker 1: feel like you kind of like a lot of LA
- 10:28Speaker 1: guys were just kind of like working with other LA guys,
- 10:30Speaker 1: but you did a really good job of like breaking
- 10:32Speaker 1: out of that mold and just working with everybody from
- 10:36Speaker 1: all over the place. I'm a player. You know, players
- 10:39Speaker 1: is internationally known, nationally recognized, and locally accepted. You feel me.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm a player, man. If you're trying to get to it,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you you got to step outside your neighborhood, you feel me. So,
- 10:50Speaker 1: so I fuck with who fucked with me, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: regardless of where they're from or any of that. If
- 10:56Speaker 1: you fuck with me, I'll fuck with you, you know. So,
- 10:59Speaker 1: So I always had that kind of mentality, you know.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So I was always trying to expand, and I you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: it's good to have allies everywhere. Man, you know what
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm saying, I'm thinking, like I've always thought big Yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 1: was there ever anybody you tried to sign to Who Banging?
- 11:13Speaker 1: That was like that ended up going on to be
- 11:16Speaker 1: like really big that like maybe it almost happened or didn't,
- 11:19Speaker 1: you know, almost got to the finish line, but maybe
- 11:20Speaker 1: for whatever reason it didn't work out. Snoop, Snoop. Yeah,
- 11:24Speaker 1: was this after Yeah, he was already. It was when
- 11:26Speaker 1: when death Row was like you know, when he was
- 11:28Speaker 1: before he went to no limits. So before he went
- 11:30Speaker 1: to no limit, you guys had those combos, paperwork was done. Wow. Yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 1: that's crazy. So death Rows obviously a rap, Snoops, a
- 11:39Speaker 1: free agent and you approach him to come on, who
- 11:42Speaker 1: Banging and it almost happens. I mean, if he a
- 11:45Speaker 1: free agent and I'm in the game, you know what
- 11:48Speaker 1: kind of motherfucker would I be not to shoot for
- 11:49Speaker 1: the biggest free agent out there? That's real shit. You know,
- 11:53Speaker 1: Jerry Jones gonna shoot for the Kohlers motherfucker out there
- 11:56Speaker 1: if he if he can get his hands on it. Yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 1: you feel me? So how close it was really close
- 12:00Speaker 1: to happening? When it is the paperwork literally was done.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It's just you know, some things you know went on,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but like it was, it was done. That had been crazy, Yeah, yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 1: Snoop on who Banging Record? Yeah, Who's Done? That had
- 12:12Speaker 1: been crazy too, just for like the perceived politics of that,
- 12:15Speaker 1: because like Snoop's a big grip you know, we know
- 12:17Speaker 1: you are. That had been crazy, especially in the nineties.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But listen, I feel like he would have probably put
- 12:23Speaker 1: out some better music too, because I didn't like the
- 12:24Speaker 1: first I didn't like the game is to be Sold
- 12:26Speaker 1: not to be Sold. I didn't like that album. I
- 12:28Speaker 1: did like No Limit Top Talk, but yeah, shout out
- 12:31Speaker 1: to Snoop, that'd have been crazy. Are you going to
- 12:33Speaker 1: be putting out a body of work obviously the singles out?
- 12:37Speaker 1: Are you following this up with the actual body of work? Yeah, yeah,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna do. I'm gonna put an album out. Is
- 12:41Speaker 1: it done? It's almost done? The red print, the red print, Yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 1: that's fire. Yeah, it's almost done. Features. I got some
- 12:51Speaker 1: secret features. You know what I'm saying. I got it.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I can't really speak on it right now, you know
- 12:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because uh, you know, I'm still in
- 12:57Speaker 1: the process of doing it, but like it's a hot album,
- 13:01Speaker 1: like the records, and shit is one of them good ones.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I mean, fourteen years is a long time man. People
- 13:06Speaker 1: want to hear from you. Yeah, yeah, I understand, Yo.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Do you still go back and listen to any like
- 13:13Speaker 1: of your old catalog like on a regular basis. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: always wondered that as an artist like you got classics,
- 13:17Speaker 1: do you got to go back and bump your own shit?
- 13:20Speaker 1: Not really every now and then. Every now and then
- 13:23Speaker 1: I'll run across something and I had to rewind Black
- 13:25Speaker 1: Shit was hard right there, you know, and I turn
- 13:27Speaker 1: it up. But like usually, I really don't don't listen
- 13:30Speaker 1: to my music. Really, I heard it so many times
- 13:32Speaker 1: making it until I'm you know, I really don't listen
- 13:35Speaker 1: to my music. I'm wondering when. Okay, you obviously are
- 13:39Speaker 1: part in my opinion of the best supergroup in rap history,
- 13:44Speaker 1: west Side Connection. Yeah. I think Boutdown is the top
- 13:49Speaker 1: five rap album in West Coast history. It's up there, man.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Gangs to killing a Dope Dealers fucking you know one
- 13:57Speaker 1: of my favorite songs ever? Right? Do you give Mount
- 14:01Speaker 1: Wesmore a listen? When they dropped their super album like
- 14:04Speaker 1: do you check it out as a fan, like just
- 14:06Speaker 1: to see like, oh, you know, we kind of did
- 14:08Speaker 1: our supergroup, like let me see what these guys are doing.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Uh not really yeah, not really. I mean, uh, I've
- 14:16Speaker 1: heard bits and pieces of it, you know what I'm saying,
- 14:18Speaker 1: But not not really. Yeah. West Side Connection was a movement,
- 14:24Speaker 1: a movement. Yeah, it was a little different a movement. Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And it's crazy too because like if you think about
- 14:29Speaker 1: like from like bow Down to terrorist Threats? How many
- 14:32Speaker 1: years was that? Was that? Like nine or ten years different?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Seven years of five something like something like that. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:38Speaker 1: something like yeah yeah, And it felt like y'all kind
- 14:40Speaker 1: of like picked up right where y'all left off with
- 14:42Speaker 1: those like right bow Down. Would you put that up
- 14:45Speaker 1: there with any one of your solo albums in terms
- 14:47Speaker 1: of just bodies of work? Oh yeah, oh yeah, that's
- 14:49Speaker 1: a complete body of work. Yeah. And it was sincere
- 14:52Speaker 1: what were like those studio sessions like when you guys
- 14:54Speaker 1: do like Gangsters make the World go Round? Like tell
- 14:57Speaker 1: me about that record, like that studio session. Uh you
- 15:02Speaker 1: know it was like uh any other West Side Connects
- 15:05Speaker 1: studio session. I mean it was always friendly competition. You know,
- 15:09Speaker 1: your verse had to be hot, you know, period just
- 15:12Speaker 1: every it was friendly competition. It was friendly competition for sure,
- 15:16Speaker 1: you know, but your your your verse, your verse had
- 15:19Speaker 1: to be hot, you know. And if your ship wasn't hot,
- 15:22Speaker 1: somebody might say, oh man, man, you might go back
- 15:26Speaker 1: and write that ship over something. Did you have to
- 15:28Speaker 1: say that to? I mean, you know, every every every
- 15:31Speaker 1: every everybody. If if you being honest with somebody and
- 15:36Speaker 1: you done did as many records as we have together,
- 15:40Speaker 1: everybody respect everybody's opinion. You know what I'm saying. They
- 15:44Speaker 1: could be a little homey in the room that that
- 15:46Speaker 1: that might say to me, You sure you want to
- 15:50Speaker 1: say it? Like you know what I'm saying, and and
- 15:51Speaker 1: and and and if and if you open minded, dude,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and and you know everybody got your best interest, you
- 15:57Speaker 1: at least gonna gonna hear what you gotta say. You
- 16:00Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You might not always go back
- 16:03Speaker 1: and change it, but if you're trying to make classics,
- 16:07Speaker 1: you at least gotta open mind. You know, you at
- 16:09Speaker 1: least open to listen. Do you look at today's because
- 16:13Speaker 1: like today's, like hip hop or just world climate is
- 16:17Speaker 1: very different than when you were really like peak mac
- 16:20Speaker 1: ten era in terms of social media. Everyone's got a
- 16:24Speaker 1: camera phone, and you obviously were a part of like
- 16:27Speaker 1: a hip hop power couple when you and T Bars
- 16:28Speaker 1: were together, Like I can only imagine if that would
- 16:31Speaker 1: have been happening in today's era, the blogs and the
- 16:34Speaker 1: Hollywood unlocks and you know all that, Like are you
- 16:37Speaker 1: are you thankful that like you kind of got to
- 16:39Speaker 1: come up in the era you did, because nowadays it
- 16:41Speaker 1: feels like it's got to be tough to be famous
- 16:43Speaker 1: because everything's scrutinized. Man, it is, it is, you know.
- 16:47Speaker 1: But I'm still a little old school in a way
- 16:50Speaker 1: that I ain't gonna participate all the way like like everybody, yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I ain't gonna do that shit, Like you ain't finna
- 16:56Speaker 1: post everywhere I'm at right taking pictures of my plate
- 17:00Speaker 1: and shit when they bring it at the restaurant, Well,
- 17:02Speaker 1: what like what part of the game was that homee? Right?
- 17:04Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like like I didn't really
- 17:06Speaker 1: come from that, right right, right, right right. I came
- 17:08Speaker 1: from when you had money and when you got up,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you tucked off. You didn't you didn't want to just
- 17:13Speaker 1: be eating steaks and dangling show people where you are. Yeah,
- 17:17Speaker 1: you didn't want to be you know, danglar stakes at Hyenas, right,
- 17:20Speaker 1: you feel me? You kind of like, yeah, yeah, I
- 17:24Speaker 1: mean it's people have lost their lives because they show
- 17:26Speaker 1: where they are. They it's it's unfortunate. Listen, do you
- 17:30Speaker 1: want to win some money? Got to stop the interview,

- 19:23Speaker 1: you get when you walk into the building in Las

- 19:58Speaker 1: What is your take on like kind of no man,
- 20:00Speaker 1: because obviously we got out of a pandemic. A lot
- 20:02Speaker 1: of people are running up the ed, you know, people
- 20:05Speaker 1: of the robberies. We always see it online, people getting
- 20:09Speaker 1: robbed out here all the time. People losing their lives
- 20:11Speaker 1: out here, Artists getting killed out here, Like do you
- 20:13Speaker 1: I mean it's not like it wasn't always lit out here,
- 20:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But I feel like now
- 20:17Speaker 1: it seems like it's just more publicized. How do you
- 20:20Speaker 1: feel about this kind of the states of the city
- 20:21Speaker 1: right now? I think it's just more publicized because it's
- 20:24Speaker 1: a lot more ways that you could find everything out.
- 20:27Speaker 1: You know, it been dangerous, you know, it been dangerous.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I look at it. I've been looking at it like
- 20:32Speaker 1: it was dangerous. But you know, now, like you said,
- 20:36Speaker 1: you got camera, phones, you got the Internet, you got everything.
- 20:39Speaker 1: So you know, it's just you know, but but but
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think you know what's going on, like been going
- 20:45Speaker 1: on now, you know, Yeah, you know that is true.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Hey as a as a guy from Inglewood who to
- 20:53Speaker 1: me was the first guy I ever heard really rep
- 20:55Speaker 1: Inglewood Tupac saying Inglewood was always up to no good?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Was that? How big was that for Inglewood? I mean
- 21:02Speaker 1: in California love? I mean it's cool. That was That
- 21:05Speaker 1: was cool? And Madre whoever said it like like that
- 21:08Speaker 1: was that was? That was a That was love? You know.
- 21:11Speaker 1: We you know what I'm saying. We like to be
- 21:13Speaker 1: recognized amongst the best. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Shout out
- 21:16Speaker 1: to park Man. Do you feel like for you when
- 21:20Speaker 1: you put an album out in twenty twenty three, right
- 21:23Speaker 1: you're working on an album, are you paying attention to
- 21:26Speaker 1: what's hot right now? Are you just doing MAC ten?
- 21:28Speaker 1: I'm doing mac ten, which is smart because this shit
- 21:31Speaker 1: is fun to me. Yeah, you feel me. If it
- 21:34Speaker 1: ain't fun, I don't even want to do it like this.
- 21:36Speaker 1: This is literally Kevin, I'm really just having fun and
- 21:39Speaker 1: I'm doing MAC ten. Like when you listen to King
- 21:41Speaker 1: of Chevys that don't sound like I listen to whoever
- 21:44Speaker 1: out now and say, Okay, this is what they doing now,
- 21:46Speaker 1: this is what I'm gonna do. Fuck all that. I'm
- 21:48Speaker 1: a real you know, I mean, I'll do me. I
- 21:49Speaker 1: think that's smart too, because most artists they get away
- 21:52Speaker 1: from like Yo, this reason why people love you. Yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 1: if you accepted me like this, I would I would
- 21:58Speaker 1: be like a piece the ship to give you something different.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Why you you didn't? That ain't what you ordered? You
- 22:04Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? That's crazy? Yeah? So for you,
- 22:07Speaker 1: do you listen to the New Ship? Like are you
- 22:09Speaker 1: listening to like Little Baby? Are you listening to? Yeah?
- 22:11Speaker 1: He hard hard, hard as fuck you nigga can rap? Yeah,
- 22:15Speaker 1: he cald he called. I listened to the New Ship,
- 22:18Speaker 1: but I'm still me. I can't do nothing but be me. Bro,
- 22:22Speaker 1: I'm good at being me. You feel me, and so
- 22:25Speaker 1: you're gonna get the best of me if I'm If
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm me, I don't care what nobody else is doing.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I've been a trendsetter and a and a leader my
- 22:33Speaker 1: whole life. You feel me so so so you know,
- 22:37Speaker 1: I really don't give a fuck what other people doing.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I kind of just do me and disrespect everybody and
- 22:42Speaker 1: what they doing. That's fair. Any of the young la
- 22:45Speaker 1: guys that you're you're a fan of that, you're checking
- 22:47Speaker 1: all of the little youngsters they like like like I
- 22:50Speaker 1: like them lit dudes, you know, I like y G,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I like Mustard. You know, my little son District is
- 22:56Speaker 1: cold as fuck. Uh shit, tie Dollar like like all
- 23:02Speaker 1: of them. I mean everybody really, all the little dudes
- 23:05Speaker 1: is doing it right now and it stay tied like.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I'm proud of them, dudes because because I know how
- 23:11Speaker 1: that is. You know what I'm saying. That's a good situation, yo.
- 23:14Speaker 1: When you were making like independent movies in the nineties
- 23:18Speaker 1: for people who don't know, we started off talking about
- 23:20Speaker 1: Blue Blood Thicker Than Water. That was a movie with
- 23:22Speaker 1: you and Fat Joe. What was like the budget for
- 23:26Speaker 1: a who Banging film back then. I mean I was
- 23:31Speaker 1: just doing them films like that for you know, like
- 23:35Speaker 1: I was shooting doing doing a record, you know, so
- 23:37Speaker 1: I probably put a million aside or something, you know
- 23:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying, And that's a good budget for yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 23:43Speaker 1: but like I'm gonna do the movie in a soundtrack
- 23:45Speaker 1: to it. At the same time there was the soundtrack. Yeah,
- 23:48Speaker 1: so it was the one two punch, the one two,
- 23:50Speaker 1: the double up, the double up man. Yeah, would you still,
- 23:53Speaker 1: like like ever like do the label thing and try
- 23:56Speaker 1: to sign artists or are you kind of like I
- 23:57Speaker 1: mean obviously once you kind of you're in your bag
- 23:59Speaker 1: as a promoter now, you know what I mean. I
- 24:01Speaker 1: don't know if it's kind of worth a headache that
- 24:04Speaker 1: part right there? You feel me. But but but like
- 24:08Speaker 1: I'm always I'm I'm such a music guy tho in
- 24:11Speaker 1: a in a good sport that that if I could
- 24:13Speaker 1: help somebody out that that that you know, if it's
- 24:16Speaker 1: something I could do, I'll do it. Yeah. But you
- 24:19Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, if I could help somebody'll give
- 24:21Speaker 1: them a shot to win, you know, shit, I will,
- 24:23Speaker 1: But it got to be like that though, you know
- 24:25Speaker 1: what I'm saying, It got to be something that you know,
- 24:28Speaker 1: you know, we feel like we could win with you
- 24:30Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Yo, Back in the day, there
- 24:34Speaker 1: was west Side Slaughterhouse, which, correct me if I'm wrong,
- 24:39Speaker 1: was a bit of a response to Commons. I used
- 24:42Speaker 1: to love her, Am I right about that? Yeah? It
- 24:45Speaker 1: was west Side slaughter House and West Side Connection. Period
- 24:48Speaker 1: was just it was just you know, uh uh, we
- 24:55Speaker 1: was reacting to that Common actor. Yeah, Common and whoever
- 24:59Speaker 1: else so Common. That's, by the way, it's one of
- 25:01Speaker 1: my favorite songs ever. Common I Still Lover is such
- 25:03Speaker 1: a beautiful record if you actually you know. But at
- 25:06Speaker 1: the time, he pretty much said it that the girl
- 25:09Speaker 1: went to the West Coast, and you know, he said
- 25:13Speaker 1: unfavorable things, right, So what are you saying that that
- 25:17Speaker 1: record inspired the group to come together. I ain't gonna
- 25:20Speaker 1: say that, Okay. I just said when it came to
- 25:22Speaker 1: West Side Connection, we was reacting. It wasn't just Common,
- 25:25Speaker 1: whoever had a problem, right, whoever was out of line,
- 25:27Speaker 1: whoever said something that we could have took as a
- 25:29Speaker 1: disc or disrespect we was. It wasn't no running from
- 25:33Speaker 1: nothing or hiding from nothing, it was. We was responding,
- 25:35Speaker 1: Yeah what what west Side slaughter House? Fucking classic record.
- 25:38Speaker 1: But did you ever like cross paths with common ever
- 25:43Speaker 1: in the like at any point in time, Like you
- 25:45Speaker 1: didn't have heard them stories? You something else? You'll pro
- 25:47Speaker 1: it this shit though you didn't heard them stories though, Well,
- 25:49Speaker 1: for people who don't know the stories, it's retell them. Yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 1: you know what it is. You know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 1: but you know it's all good man, you know, shout
- 25:57Speaker 1: out the common man? What's up with you, homie? He's
- 26:00Speaker 1: he's on movies? Shot out the coming Man? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:04Speaker 1: you know, but we was young man and active man.
- 26:06Speaker 1: You know how that go, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:08Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, you know you've had your life, I
- 26:10Speaker 1: mean because you and Cypres still had a thing, right,
- 26:13Speaker 1: yeah of course, yeah, of course people know about that.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Was that something that ever got resolved? Like? You know,
- 26:18Speaker 1: because I fuck would be real because you guys are
- 26:21Speaker 1: both O G s. Yeah we laugh about it. Yeah,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I fuck would be real. What was like the origid
- 26:28Speaker 1: like origin of y'all's issues for people who needn't I
- 26:31Speaker 1: didn't have no problem with him. I didn't have no
- 26:34Speaker 1: issues with him. Cube had an issue with them. But
- 26:37Speaker 1: I'm a common mother fucker. Like if I'm with you,
- 26:39Speaker 1: I'm with you. You know what I'm saying. So Cube
- 26:41Speaker 1: had the issue and so I just like jumped in
- 26:44Speaker 1: it when it came to Cypress Hill, you know what
- 26:45Speaker 1: I'm saying. But you know I didn't have no issues
- 26:49Speaker 1: with him. Yeah. So now nowadays, fast forward, you guys
- 26:52Speaker 1: are solid laugh about that. We laugh about it for real. Yeah,
- 26:55Speaker 1: have you have you? Uh, you might you might already
- 26:58Speaker 1: be involved and I might not know, but are you
- 27:01Speaker 1: you know, would you get involved in the cannabis industry?
- 27:03Speaker 1: It seems like a lot of if you're in LA,
- 27:04Speaker 1: it's kind of, you know, a natural thing to try
- 27:06Speaker 1: to get involved with. You know that red gas was
- 27:08Speaker 1: the best weed on the street, you know what I'm saying, Like, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 1: red gas was a line I got, you know, but yeah, yeah,
- 27:17Speaker 1: I mean, you know, but even the cannabis industry ain't
- 27:22Speaker 1: what it was. Sure, ain't what it was. Everyone thinks
- 27:25Speaker 1: you just print money. That's not how it goes. It
- 27:27Speaker 1: ain't what it was a few years ago. But yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 1: I got a good product, though, is it still out
- 27:32Speaker 1: in like dispensaries and ship Yeah, can you get it
- 27:34Speaker 1: at doctor green Thum because that would be kind of ironic.
- 27:37Speaker 1: It's been there, it's been there. Yeah, that's what's up.
- 27:41Speaker 1: What's your relationship? I mean we always hear that you
- 27:43Speaker 1: and Q don't have much of a relationship, But is
- 27:45Speaker 1: there any sort of like world in which you guys
- 27:48Speaker 1: get together, maybe do another west side connection, have a conversation.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Like I said earlier, I fuck with who fucked with me?
- 27:54Speaker 1: M you did. That's where I'm at with it. If
- 27:57Speaker 1: you fuck with me, I'll fuck with you. But if
- 28:00Speaker 1: it's fucked me, as fuck you, Like I don't, I
- 28:02Speaker 1: fuck with who fuck with me? Caah, you know what
- 28:04Speaker 1: I'm saying. And I ain't seen him or talk to
- 28:08Speaker 1: him and damn near twenty years. So there it is.
- 28:10Speaker 1: That's so crazy. What about who fuck with me? Man? Wow? Yeah?
- 28:16Speaker 1: So man, it's just man, y'all got classics together. Bro.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I totally understand classics. I totally get it. But you know,
- 28:23Speaker 1: I'm just the kind of guy that you know, I
- 28:25Speaker 1: rock with who rock with me? I respect that, man. Yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 1: I think most people should live by that, by that law, Yeah,
- 28:32Speaker 1: for sure, Yeah, there's a right size of bag. Though
- 28:36Speaker 1: someone comes in with the right bag, you know, to
- 28:39Speaker 1: do bow down two point Oh. I mean I'm a businessman. Yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 1: you get the bag. You said you get to get
- 28:45Speaker 1: to the bag. I'm a business man. And it ain't
- 28:48Speaker 1: never been me, you know, with the hold up. It
- 28:51Speaker 1: ain't never been my personality or or who I am.
- 28:54Speaker 1: With the hold up of us doing something. It ain't
- 28:57Speaker 1: never been me as the whole up. You feel me?
- 28:59Speaker 1: But I fuck with who fucked with me? Ye? It
- 29:04Speaker 1: is what it is. Hey respects man for you? Are
- 29:09Speaker 1: you doing this new album straight indie? Yeah? Everything? Yeah? Everything?
- 29:13Speaker 1: What producers are you working with? I mean I'm working
- 29:17Speaker 1: with quite a few producers, you know what I'm saying.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Some guys from the East. I got a tray and
- 29:22Speaker 1: some of them guys that did like, you know, some
- 29:23Speaker 1: of my shit on my on my older projects. You
- 29:25Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Mustard, I did you know your
- 29:28Speaker 1: record with Mustard? Yeah? I did one? Yeah? Is that
- 29:32Speaker 1: gonna be a single? Uh? Probably? Like you get a
- 29:37Speaker 1: Mustard beat? I mean I mean yeah, you know, I'm
- 29:39Speaker 1: still putting it together, you know what I'm saying. I'm
- 29:41Speaker 1: still putting the whole album together. I like to finish
- 29:43Speaker 1: like everything, you know, and then and then I always
- 29:46Speaker 1: been the kind of guy that finished everything and and
- 29:48Speaker 1: then picked my singles. Except for like King of Chevyes,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I was just like, you know, it was on the
- 29:53Speaker 1: podcast first and everything, you know, it was just one
- 29:55Speaker 1: of them records. We were just having fun, you know.
- 29:57Speaker 1: But the Red printer Is is a good, solid project. Hey,
- 30:01Speaker 1: we gotta stop the interview to tell you about our
- 30:03Speaker 1: good folks at blue Chew Baby. That's right. A lot
- 30:05Speaker 1: of people keep asking me does blue Choo work? Fuck?
- 30:07Speaker 1: Yeah does And if you don't believe me, they'll give
- 30:09Speaker 1: you a whole month for free right now. If you
- 30:12Speaker 1: go to blue choo dot com and use that promo
- 30:14Speaker 1: code bootleg, that's bluetoo dot com promo code bootleg. You
- 30:17Speaker 1: get a month of blue Cheo for free, deliver to
- 30:20Speaker 1: your fucking house. All you do is pay five dollars

- 33:12Speaker 1: ninety six? You can tell me more than what it
- 33:15Speaker 1: was about ninety six or ninety seven, Probably like ninety six,
- 33:18Speaker 1: ninety six, probably a ninety seven, probably. Yeah. Do you
- 33:21Speaker 1: feel like when you look back at those days that
- 33:23Speaker 1: like the media, like the source, the vibes of the
- 33:29Speaker 1: worlds were kind of like creating this East coast West
- 33:33Speaker 1: coast narrative that necessarily was not as big as it
- 33:37Speaker 1: really was. I think we I mean to a certain
- 33:44Speaker 1: to a certain extent, but at the same time it
- 33:47Speaker 1: was going on, it was actually going it was going on,
- 33:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But yeah, like of course,
- 33:54Speaker 1: you know, beefs and shit like that. You know, it
- 33:57Speaker 1: makes for better press. You know, ain't nobody gonna say that,
- 34:00Speaker 1: you know, everything is cool that ain't that ain't a
- 34:02Speaker 1: good story. It's only a story of everybody like feud
- 34:06Speaker 1: and shit, you know what I'm saying. But yeah, it
- 34:07Speaker 1: definitely was a situation going on, and yeah, all media
- 34:11Speaker 1: outlets do that to a certain extent, but there it.
- 34:15Speaker 1: You know, we did feel some kind of way at
- 34:17Speaker 1: the time. Yeah, it felt like it was like, you know,
- 34:19Speaker 1: there was like certain artists kind of taking like subs
- 34:21Speaker 1: at each other back then, and then they'd be like
- 34:23Speaker 1: but then you see like you know, method Man pop
- 34:26Speaker 1: pop up with Tupac, you know what I'm saying. Or
- 34:29Speaker 1: I mean, even a little after that, you were obviously
- 34:31Speaker 1: real tight with Fat Joe. Yeah, because players recognize players. Man,
- 34:35Speaker 1: game recognized game. You feel me like man it's it's
- 34:40Speaker 1: players everywhere, you know, And like I said, I ain't.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I wouldn't be the kind of guy to have this
- 34:46Speaker 1: a problem with an entire set. I got a problem
- 34:50Speaker 1: with who got a problem with me? Straight? Just like
- 34:52Speaker 1: you fuck with who fucks with you? Period? You know
- 34:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And you know that's it. I got
- 34:58Speaker 1: some real sould the dudes that that that I've met
- 35:01Speaker 1: over the years from New York and from the East Coast,
- 35:03Speaker 1: you know, some solid guys. Yeah. Do you uh think
- 35:08Speaker 1: thinking back to two thousand and one, right, you end
- 35:10Speaker 1: up signing with cash Money putting out banger Ball. That's
- 35:13Speaker 1: around like right before we get like peak little Wayne,
- 35:18Speaker 1: like Superstar Wayne. I feel like it was like four
- 35:20Speaker 1: oh five when he dropped the first carters when that
- 35:22Speaker 1: kind of started. But like, were you around Wayne back then? Yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 1: he was a kid like like fourteen fifteen years old
- 35:28Speaker 1: or something when I was around. Yeah, I feel like
- 35:30Speaker 1: it's crazy people don't even understand that. Like back then,
- 35:32Speaker 1: like obviously Juvi was Juvie, but the big timers were
- 35:35Speaker 1: the biggest shit on Cash Money out once juvenile kind
- 35:38Speaker 1: of like you know, four hundred Degrees came out and
- 35:41Speaker 1: like I felt like soldier Rag came out or not
- 35:43Speaker 1: sold ks sol dregs before that g code. But uh,
- 35:46Speaker 1: the big Timers were fucking lit. Big Timers was good.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Big Times was good. But but but but Junior was
- 35:52Speaker 1: a special talent, like a like a different kind of motherfucker.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Like he was. I knew he was incredible. Like when
- 35:59Speaker 1: he was a kid, I told Stunning that boy here
- 36:01Speaker 1: gonna be the business. He gonna be the ship for real.
- 36:04Speaker 1: You guys have sessions together back then and all that.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, it was like a family right, Like
- 36:08Speaker 1: I was around, like around around, and we was all
- 36:11Speaker 1: around each other like for real, and you know, Wang
- 36:13Speaker 1: was young, but I could tell at a young age
- 36:16Speaker 1: he was gonna be probably the best ever. Obviously, Birdman
- 36:22Speaker 1: is like one of the most pro prolific CEOs ever.
- 36:25Speaker 1: We hear like mixed things though when it comes like
- 36:27Speaker 1: signing with cash money, there's people who have complaints, people saying,
- 36:30Speaker 1: went great, your your experience was great. I don't got
- 36:34Speaker 1: nothing to say. Yeah, you know my experience was was
- 36:37Speaker 1: was was was player. It was a player situation. I
- 36:40Speaker 1: can't do nothing but but but but have a you know,
- 36:44Speaker 1: love and respect for for for him and Slim, you know,
- 36:48Speaker 1: and all of the guys that that that I've met
- 36:50Speaker 1: through them or you know, everybody associated with cash money
- 36:53Speaker 1: has been all open arms with me for you know,
- 36:57Speaker 1: since the beginning. For sure. Who you put on your
- 37:00Speaker 1: Mount Rushmore of La rap, not California, l A, your
- 37:07Speaker 1: personal Mount Rushmore. It don't got to be like who,
- 37:10Speaker 1: like the you know, the the publicly politically correct list,
- 37:15Speaker 1: just your personal list. That's a hell of a question, bro,
- 37:21Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, that's a really good question.
- 37:23Speaker 1: It don't matter what era, no, not. We're talking about
- 37:26Speaker 1: rap music from l A, the LA area, the Los
- 37:29Speaker 1: Angeles metropolitan area. You're personal, Well, well, I'm putting Easy
- 37:32Speaker 1: at the top of the list for any motherfucking thing
- 37:34Speaker 1: they want to come to rap straight up, that's me.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Erica is number one, right and then go for sure
- 37:41Speaker 1: this gangster ship for sure. And so I'm gonna start
- 37:46Speaker 1: with Easy. Uh, you know, I gotta mention myself. Of course,
- 37:58Speaker 1: Dog been one of the greats. You know what I'm saying,
- 38:01Speaker 1: could have been on who band? Yeah, yeah, almost yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I mean, but like it's hard, bro, because like you know,
- 38:08Speaker 1: forty and short, you know, about l A, just l A,
- 38:12Speaker 1: just l A, no California, just La La Eric, I
- 38:16Speaker 1: mean easy easy U snoop one more Ice Tea, Iced
- 38:26Speaker 1: Tea not the ice I expected, but a good ice
- 38:29Speaker 1: nonetheless because Ice Tea kind of it is like, in
- 38:32Speaker 1: my opinion, Ice Tea was hard for six in the
- 38:35Speaker 1: Morning and all that ship. Well, I also feel like
- 38:36Speaker 1: he was like the pioneer of like, yeah, it's like
- 38:40Speaker 1: him and easy Elow like Ice Tea was before Easy
- 38:43Speaker 1: right in terms of just like I mean, I mean,
- 38:52Speaker 1: I'm not trying to age Paula, but I feel like
- 38:53Speaker 1: she would know. Yeah, no ice Ty definitely, I feel
- 38:58Speaker 1: like it was before. I mean Ice team was, Yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 1: and then album covers like the Power album cover yeah
- 39:03Speaker 1: with him and his lady with the shotgun. Yeah. Ice
- 39:05Speaker 1: was an innovator bro. Yeah, and he's twenty three years
- 39:09Speaker 1: straight on SVU. Yeah. It's you know, and when you
- 39:12Speaker 1: sit down and have a conversation with him, he's like
- 39:14Speaker 1: one of my favorite people to sit down and talk to. Yeh,
- 39:17Speaker 1: Ice be popping that ship like you'll still like you're
- 39:20Speaker 1: gonna leave with some jewels fucking with Ice. You know
- 39:23Speaker 1: what I'm saying. You gonna say some players. The man,
- 39:26Speaker 1: he's gonna say some fly ship for sure. Oh, what
- 39:29Speaker 1: is your Chevy collection like these days? I mean, you
- 39:33Speaker 1: know the Chevy collection fifty seven, uh, sixty four h
- 39:42Speaker 1: fifty two and I got a Tudor Brawl a Cadillac.
- 39:47Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Have you, like, can you
- 39:50Speaker 1: tell me the most First of all, I'm sure you've
- 39:53Speaker 1: you've bought fixed up cars, sold cars, gone in and
- 39:56Speaker 1: out of a lot of vehicles. What was the most
- 39:59Speaker 1: expec if Chevy you flipped ship? That I that I
- 40:10Speaker 1: that I that I flipped? Like so then you sold
- 40:12Speaker 1: to someone else? Because I mean I'm sure you've gone
- 40:15Speaker 1: through a ton of impalas over the years. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 40:19Speaker 1: uh about two hundred two Jesus. But now but like
- 40:26Speaker 1: now that ain't ship now because it's like now now
- 40:29Speaker 1: now the ship I got, Now, if I was selling,
- 40:32Speaker 1: I couldn't sell nothing for less than three hundred Wow,
- 40:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I don't feel like
- 40:37Speaker 1: I see like sixty four polos anymore. I remember, like
- 40:40Speaker 1: it was such a big part of the culture when
- 40:42Speaker 1: I was a kid man like you. Yeah, but like
- 40:45Speaker 1: the King of Chevys build my ship. So like they ship,
- 40:47Speaker 1: they set the bar at a different standard, you know
- 40:50Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It's like it's all the way like
- 40:52Speaker 1: showroom floor like like like like the simile line. You
- 40:56Speaker 1: feel me like it's your car. All of my ship
- 40:59Speaker 1: is like clean like that? Is that? Like do you
- 41:01Speaker 1: take like pride and rebuilding the car like that getting
- 41:03Speaker 1: it back to kind of how it came. Because that's
- 41:05Speaker 1: got to be expensive, It's got to be hard to get.
- 41:07Speaker 1: It's expensive and time consuming for sure, you know what
- 41:09Speaker 1: I'm saying. But that brings me way more satisfaction than
- 41:14Speaker 1: the new ship, you know what I'm saying. And I
- 41:16Speaker 1: got every none had everything, got everything like all the
- 41:19Speaker 1: new ship, but like that old ship is special. How
- 41:23Speaker 1: do you like a Tesla though? Because models? How do
- 41:27Speaker 1: you feel about the Tesla is the fastest car in
- 41:29Speaker 1: the world. I know what's the fact, but like do
- 41:31Speaker 1: you fuck with it? Like I mean, you're shot. I'm
- 41:34Speaker 1: a Chevy guy, but I'm just a car guy. I'm
- 41:36Speaker 1: a car guy. Like you could have one of them
- 41:38Speaker 1: if you got some other shit, right, you know what
- 41:40Speaker 1: I'm saying. But like, but like that model s plaid
- 41:44Speaker 1: is it's a fun car to drive, Like I heard
- 41:47Speaker 1: that sh it's like zero to sixty and like, don't
- 41:49Speaker 1: one point nine seconds insane? Yeah, like twelve twelve hundred horsepower.
- 41:54Speaker 1: So anything somebody pull up on it ain't never gonna
- 41:57Speaker 1: be able to fuck with you. Although I ain't even
- 41:59Speaker 1: trying to go that fast like that. I'm I'm I'm
- 42:01Speaker 1: just trying to just you know what I'm saying. I'm
- 42:03Speaker 1: miss a car guy, like all the new ship that
- 42:05Speaker 1: come out, Like, I'm a car dude. So you know
- 42:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna have something. They gotta start giving cops these
- 42:09Speaker 1: teslas because if I'm in the fucking tesla, I'm smoking
- 42:12Speaker 1: the cop. I'm out of there. Yeah, it's like you
- 42:15Speaker 1: can't keep up with me. I got twelve hundred horses here, sir. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:19Speaker 1: you gotta have. It's like it's like any car, thh
- 42:22Speaker 1: you gotta have the right one, though, you know, the
- 42:24Speaker 1: right one, because if you got the wrong shit, you
- 42:26Speaker 1: you look like a square. You gotta have like the
- 42:29Speaker 1: right car. So what's the right tesla to have? Motos plaid?
- 42:33Speaker 1: We gotta be a plaid fifty no at least yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 42:40Speaker 1: but a plaid if a plaid is the is the
- 42:44Speaker 1: that's it. As a businessman, besides throwing shows and building
- 42:48Speaker 1: this other empire outside of music, congrats on that too.
- 42:52Speaker 1: What else are you doing? You're doing real estate or
- 42:54Speaker 1: you're getting it involved in any of their Yeah, I've
- 42:56Speaker 1: been doing real estate since the nineties, since the mid nineties,
- 42:59Speaker 1: like since our first got in the in the in
- 43:01Speaker 1: the game. Really, I've been fucking with real estate tough
- 43:04Speaker 1: since then. I mean consistently. How many houses in Inglewood
- 43:10Speaker 1: did you hold onto because right now they got to
- 43:12Speaker 1: be booming. I didn't hold on the no houses in
- 43:15Speaker 1: Inglewood now now, I didn't hold on another he wish
- 43:18Speaker 1: you would have not really, God, really, I mean I
- 43:20Speaker 1: got relatives over there that that yeah. Yeah, but like, man,
- 43:25Speaker 1: I've bought shit in in areas that that like you know, balls, shipping,
- 43:29Speaker 1: flipping in the areas where that where the value like
- 43:31Speaker 1: super low, you know, where the value like quadrupled, like
- 43:35Speaker 1: what areas? I mean anywhere? And what real estate? It's
- 43:39Speaker 1: all about location, location, location, straight up? You feel me?
- 43:42Speaker 1: So so so me. I was always trying to buy houses.
- 43:46Speaker 1: I done did a couple in the in the neighborhood.
- 43:47Speaker 1: But like you know, you know some of that Wool
- 43:51Speaker 1: and Hills ship. Oh the value is crazy, you know,
- 43:54Speaker 1: like the ship costs four five times more than what
- 43:56Speaker 1: you paid for You feel me so so so you
- 43:58Speaker 1: know it's located location, location with real estate for you
- 44:02Speaker 1: being an OG somebody who's kind of been through so
- 44:04Speaker 1: much in this city. Man, been through so much in
- 44:06Speaker 1: the rap game, you know, hits issues, drama, fucking peaks
- 44:12Speaker 1: of success. What would be your advice to artists who
- 44:18Speaker 1: come out here to LA because you know, there's like
- 44:22Speaker 1: we talked about earlier, people are definitely getting targeted out
- 44:25Speaker 1: here now. You know, I always tell people, if you
- 44:27Speaker 1: canna come out here and move around like a dickcad,
- 44:28Speaker 1: they're gonna treat you like a dickhead, right Like, if
- 44:30Speaker 1: you're gonna come out here and where two hundred thousand
- 44:33Speaker 1: dollars in jewelry and just think, shits sweet? That's what
- 44:35Speaker 1: do you want people to do if they're hungry? You
- 44:37Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But how would you advise people
- 44:39Speaker 1: to move in Cali based on the OG perspective? You know,
- 44:46Speaker 1: you know shit, you gotta know where you at. You
- 44:50Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Move accordingly, you know, move according
- 44:54Speaker 1: to to to where you at. I mean, be smart,
- 44:59Speaker 1: be smart for sure, you know what I'm saying. And
- 45:01Speaker 1: respect the situation. Because any city did I go to,
- 45:05Speaker 1: I respect the situation. That's that's somebody else town and
- 45:09Speaker 1: somebody else city. You feel me. So I'm gonna come in,
- 45:12Speaker 1: you know, and and and you know, conduct myself like
- 45:16Speaker 1: a player and respect the situation. Respectful. Yeah, I mean,
- 45:19Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. You do. You gotta respect
- 45:21Speaker 1: the situation and be smart about what you're doing. I mean,
- 45:23Speaker 1: some ship ain't gonna fly straight up, straight up, it
- 45:26Speaker 1: just ain't gonna fly. That's real ship. You know. As
- 45:29Speaker 1: a promoter, who's been the artist you booked the most?
- 45:33Speaker 1: I don't know, bro, Like that's a hard question. Give
- 45:37Speaker 1: me like the top two or three that come to mind.
- 45:39Speaker 1: That guys did a lot of little Wayne shows, lots
- 45:42Speaker 1: of Wayne shows. I did a lot of Wayne shows.
- 45:45Speaker 1: I did a lot of Snoop shows. Good business to
- 45:47Speaker 1: be in. I heard Snoops price is shot up recently.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Once you get in that crypto money asked. Yeah. Yeah,
- 45:54Speaker 1: On all the R and B guys, I've I've done them,
- 45:57Speaker 1: like you know, over and over and keep sweat all
- 46:00Speaker 1: them guys a million times. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. Hey,
- 46:04Speaker 1: how important has the Latin fan base been to you, man?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Because I feel like you're heavily uh embraced by you know,
- 46:10Speaker 1: the Brown community. Hey man, I love the Brown community.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Been like my number one bass, my number one fan base.
- 46:16Speaker 1: You feel me so like mag Ten is down with
- 46:20Speaker 1: the Brown like a motherfucker, like straight up yeah, Like
- 46:23Speaker 1: like I keep them in mind when I'm doing music
- 46:27Speaker 1: because I look at I look at the Hispanish is
- 46:30Speaker 1: like my core fans, like my real fans. You know
- 46:34Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And before I put a record out,
- 46:36Speaker 1: I think to myself, like, well, my fans like this.
- 46:39Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, right, and if you know,
- 46:42Speaker 1: if the if, if the answer is no, then it
- 46:45Speaker 1: probably won't make the cut. That's what's up, man. We'll listen.
- 46:48Speaker 1: You're a fucking legend. Appreciate appreciate you pulling up new song.
- 46:53Speaker 1: King of Chevies is out? Uh the Red Print coming soon? Yes, sir?
- 46:58Speaker 1: How soon before the end of the year, before summer, yeah, summertime,
- 47:01Speaker 1: summertime probably sometime. You're already getting music videos together, doing that,
