- 0:02Welcome into another exciting episode of the scene.
- 0:04I'm your host Bubba Starts, and with me today is TikTok sensation, Birdman Bobby.
- 0:10Welcome to the show, Bobby.
- 0:11How are you guys doing?
- 0:13I think everybody's great, man.
- 0:15Still recovering, I think, from rally.
- 0:18What a what a slog those ten days can be, but, we're home now, resting up, and no travels for
- 0:26the foreseeable future.
- 0:28So glad to sit down and spend some time with you while we were out there together in
- 0:32Sturgis.
- 0:32But, for those of our listeners that don't know you, why don't you go ahead and, tell us a
- 0:38little bit about who you are and and what it is you do?
- 0:40So I ride a motorcycle with, five parrots on my shoulder.
- 0:46They're all rescues.
- 0:48I don't train them.
- 0:49I don't do anything to get them on the bike.
- 0:52They just kinda follow along.
- 0:54Same with my dogs.
- 0:55Kinda like, if there's such thing as an animal whisperer, I guess I'm one of those.
- 1:02Somehow you have built a relationship with these birds.
- 1:05They trust you.
- 1:06I've seen the videos of them cruising down the highway with you at 80 miles an hour, and, it
- 1:13seems like they really enjoy it.
- 1:15Yeah.
- 1:16I mean, if they didn't wanna be there, he has the opportunity to rip my ear off if he wanted
- 1:22to.
- 1:22So Well, do something.
- 1:24Well, you shared a story with me that accidentally that that actually happened last
- 1:29year.
- 1:30Right?
- 1:30Yep.
- 1:31Yep.
- 1:32Yeah.
- 1:32Put me in the hospital, got me all infected, almost killed me, went septic.
- 1:37It was it could have been bad.
- 1:39But, of course, he didn't do it on purpose.
- 1:42A flight accident?
- 1:44Correct.
- 1:45Yeah.
- 1:45Those are just you know, he just tries to grab on or like, when he tries to fly to me at home,
- 1:50he wants to stop himself from coming in hot.
- 1:53So he grabs whatever he can, and that requires me to wear a bandana around my ears because I
- 1:59look like an MMA fighter with all the cartilage ripped.
- 2:05Well and I think as, you know, a lot of people are probably not familiar with birds.
- 2:10I think, you know, as far as pets go, birds are at the bottom of a lot of lists.
- 2:15Right?
- 2:15There there's not a lot of, you know and it's hard to say that you own them.
- 2:20Like you said, if they didn't wanna be there, they they wouldn't be.
- 2:24Right?
- 2:25Right.
- 2:25So whole flight.
- 2:26A bird companion, maybe, is a better term.
- 2:30For
- 2:30sure.
- 2:31And because they don't have hands, right, we we forget how how important the opposable thumb
- 2:37is, but birds use their beak for most of the things that we would use our hands for.
- 2:43Yeah.
- 2:43I would say the beak is their probably number one appendage, and their talons are secondary.
- 2:50They use it to climb.
- 2:51They I mean, he can skin a grape with this thing.
- 2:54It's amazing.
- 2:55Incredible.
- 2:57Right?
- 2:57Incredible.
- 2:58So what are you guys doing?
- 3:02You're traveling the country on the motorcycle.
- 3:04I know you're attached to a few maybe nonprofits or or just charities that you've
- 3:08worked with.
- 3:09Can you tell us about some of the people you've worked with to kinda use the celebrity,
- 3:14probably more of the birds than of Bobby, but using that to to bring awareness to great
- 3:19causes around the country?
- 3:21Yeah.
- 3:22I mean, I've done suicide prevention.
- 3:24We just got done with the R ride, which is for suicide also for PTSD.
- 3:31My girlfriend had a tragic thing happen to her with her ex husband and all murder suicide kind
- 3:37of thing.
- 3:38So, yeah, I'm big on veteran suicide.
- 3:42That's something I'm very passionate about.
- 3:45And that's kind of where we aligned.
- 3:47We met you at at one of our events while we were out there Sturgis.
- 3:51We were at hose clamp customs, and you had trimmed in there.
- 3:55Obviously, we have operation combating veteran suicide, our nonprofit partner, and something
- 3:59that we're very serious about.
- 4:0122 a day, probably more by now.
- 4:04The statistics continue to climb.
- 4:07It is just an ungodly number of human beings, and not just human beings, but in a small
- 4:12community like the veteran community.
- 4:15Those are brothers and sisters.
- 4:17Yep.
- 4:17Bobby, are you a veteran yourself?
- 4:20I am.
- 4:21Yep.
- 4:21Thank you for your service.
- 4:2282 to 87 in the army.
- 4:26So
- 4:27Got out before Desert Storm?
- 4:30Yeah.
- 4:30I got to go play in Honduras in Central America with the seventh group for all the conference
- 4:35stuff.
- 4:35Oh oh, fun.
- 4:37Yeah.
- 4:37We weren't we weren't down there, though.
- 4:40I I was never there.
- 4:43Oh, yeah.
- 4:44What a crazy time that was.
- 4:47Yeah.
- 4:47Yeah.
- 4:49Yeah.
- 4:50Teaching 14 year old kids how to kill people was fun.
- 4:52Yeah.
- 4:53Yeah.
- 4:53Just it's unbelievable that, our our government was I mean, is still capable of doing such
- 5:01atrocities.
- 5:02We hope that that's changing now, you know, especially with this last, you know, eight,
- 5:08nine months of activity.
- 5:09But think without diligent Patriots such as yourself that are always bringing awareness to
- 5:16these things and and being of the people that that nothing ever changes.
- 5:20So I admire you, you know, going out there and and continuing to be a voice, not just for
- 5:26veterans, but for, you know, people who are suffering from PTSD and other mental health
- 5:32issues.
- 5:34It's, it's very commendable, sir, and and I appreciate your continued service to our
- 5:39communities.
- 5:40Thank you.
- 5:42Appreciate that.
- 5:43So what does the, next couple of months hold for you?
- 5:46Obviously, it's hard to ride motor cycles as the weather continues to cool.
- 5:50You're in Illinois?
- 5:52Yep.
- 5:52I'm just outside Chicago.
- 5:53I'd love to get involved with somewhere where I could, you know, go to all these rallies.
- 5:59Laconia, Traytona.
- 6:01I would just like to travel the whole rally circuit spreading the word about veteran
- 6:06suicide, animal rescue, all those things I'm passionate about.
- 6:11Using the celebrity of the birds and of Birdman Bobby, you know, online and in person.
- 6:18I mean, you're a show.
- 6:19Everybody wants to take pictures.
- 6:20I know my wife took probably several 100 while we were there just for a few hours.
- 6:26And having a cause attached to that, I think, is so important to not just waste it.
- 6:31Sure.
- 6:32It's great that, you know, you guys want a picture of the birds.
- 6:34But, please, you know, while you're here and if you take a picture and you'd like a picture,
- 6:39maybe you can donate, you know, $5 to our cause.
- 6:43And if the, you know, millions of people that you encounter all summer all do that, think of
- 6:48the incredible good that we could do with something like that.
- 6:52Oh my god.
- 6:53It's it could amazing.
- 6:55Yep.
- 6:56Well, we're gonna talk a lot more about that off camera, but I wanted to make sure that we
- 7:01kinda got out, the ideas and what we'll be, working on together.
- 7:05People can definitely look forward to seeing a lot more of you with the SCENE projects and
- 7:10with operation combating veteran suicide in the future.
- 7:13For all of our listeners, why don't you go ahead and tell us, where we can find you and,
- 7:18how we can connect with you and some of the causes that you're representing?
- 7:23You can find me on all social media at bird man bobby, TikTok, Instagram.
- 7:29I'm not that big on YouTube yet, but I'm trying to get there.
- 7:33Don't know how to break into that market, but I'm working on it.
- 7:37I need young guys like you to help me out with all this digital stuff.
- 7:41So yeah.
- 7:43I check.
- 7:43I'm I'm not as young as I once was, Bobby, but I can sure help you as the 2024 content creator
- 7:50of the year.
- 7:51I think we have at least a small idea of what kind of content that people are gravitating to.
- 7:56And I think it's more than that.
- 7:58I think it's community.
- 7:59I I believe that what we are doing, I say it a lot on the podcast that this is how God is
- 8:05speaking through us, connecting each one of us to one another, and, using that to to make a
- 8:11real difference in the world.
- 8:12So I appreciate you guys, taking a little time for me today and and, coming on camera to chat
- 8:19with us.
- 8:20Thanks for having us.
- 8:21I look forward to future projects.
- 8:25My pleasure, and thanks for being part of the scene.
